Preferred Solution: BSoD When gaming, custom PC, ntoskrnl.exe

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Im pretty sure i have the updated drivers for all things, but as i said i diddnt build the pc myself so I haven't messed with BIOS or anything, i dont know required voltages and all that.

It only happens when im playing high spec games like crysis or asassins creed or GTA4 etc.

i've downloaded bluescreenview and had a look at the last minidump (up on skydrive) and it looks like someting called ntoskrnl.exe is causing trouble, and it has been a factor in 3 out of 4 bsods recently:

You certainly have done your homework. Since your memory has passed I would suggest you run a system file check. to do that type cmd in search>right click and run as admin>sfc /scannow (note the space between sfc and "/")

Let us know the results

Hello, I am currently experiencing BSOD usually while under load playing CS:GO or WildStar (crashes occur instantly or after a few hours) and I will upload the .dmp files.

-I've tried resetting CMOS as I was previously overclocked.
-I've tried running Memtest to diagnose ram (both sticks were tested separately for ~4 hours)
-I've tried reinstalling Nvidia drivers
-I've tried moving anything plugged into USB 3.0 to 2.0 ports
-I've ran sfc /scannow everything checks out
-I've run any windows updates (Including optional updates)

Any other suggestions would be very helpful.

Thanks in advance!

I recently rebuilt my computer with almost all new parts except the 2 160GB HDD's which have all of my old data. I am getting multiple BSOD's but they usually refer to the driver ntfs.sys as the culprit from what I can find.

My previous system was receiving ntoskrnl.exe BSOD's but they were fairly rare. My new machine is getting them sporadically but usually a couple a day. It BSOD's once I ran the SF_Diagnostic Tool.

I have attached the dump files it created.

My PC Specs are in my "System Specs" portion of my profile

Hello , The file you uploaded is corrupt, try running the SFDT again using the Grab All option.

Seeing how old the drives are I would recommend testing them.

   Warning
This method should NOT be performed on an SSD!

Testing the HDD:
Perform a Disk Check | Disk Check
Then Post the results following | THIS METHOD
Download SeaTools for Windows if you don't want to use a CD to test the HDD you can use YUMI – Multiboot USB Creator to create a bootable USB (instructions are found at the bottom of both pages).
If SeaTools for Windows is unable to recognize your HDD visit HDDdiag and follow the instructions.

A:Custom build, Random BSOD, ntoskrnl.exe, dxgmms1.sys

The only thing in common with the two dump files provided is a memory access problem. Run RAM - Test with Memtest86+

Also, you can run Driver Verifier - Enable and Disable I recommend backing up important files and creating a system restore point or system image before using Driver verifier. If you are unable to boot Windows normally after enabling, start in safe mode. If safe mode also fails (this is rare, but does happen), run system restore/recovery from system image.

I recently built a computer and am getting BSOD's on a relatively frequent basis After checking around I have no idea what the problem could be This is the first build I have ever done Here is what I know Using WhoCrashed it tells me built new on computer. to custom BSOD ntoskrnl.exe Related that in crashes it was related to ntoskrnl exe and in the th is BSOD on new custom built computer. Related to ntoskrnl.exe was related to ntkrnlmp exe The BSOD's are not recurring that is I will get one then go back and do the same thing I was doing before and it will be fine About a day after installing everything my integrated wi-fi card stopped working I shrugged it off to a faulty antennae and went and got a Netgear WNDA v Wireless dual band adapter it is faster and holds a signal better anyways Not sure if it is related to the BSOD's Any other questions feel free to ask attached are the dump files and system health report as required by the forum as well as the screen shot of the WhoCrashed report For system specs look at my profile or feel free to ask Thanks EDIT Also forgot to BSOD on new custom built computer. Related to ntoskrnl.exe add that I am running Windows -bit and it is an OEM everything was installed in the past - days when I took them out of the box and this is the only OS I have installed on the system Also I tried to run the windows repair program of the OS disc and it was not compatible not sure if that is due to OEM or related to the problem

You will either need to uninstall these drivers and then install the latest version or perform a clean installation of them.
DRIVERS
The following drivers need to be updated:

Code:
hamachi.sys Thu Feb 19 21:36:41 2009
These drivers can be found by searching them in Google and then finding the associated software or driver. Finally, find the latest version of this driver or software and download and install it. Some of the drivers may also be found here (if the driver says 'Windows Update' simply make sure all Windows Updates are installed).

You should also update any other drivers you can think of including graphics, audio, chipset, SSD etc.
SOFTWARE
You have Norton installed, is that correct? At least to test, uninstall it and install MSE (Microsoft Security Essentials) instead.
Microsoft Security Essentials - Free Antivirus for Windows

Please also uninstall any other Symantec products you have including Endpoint and Ghost as some of your dumps point toward Symantec drivers.
HARDWARE
Run a chkdsk on the system partition to check for bad sectors or system errors.

Your UEFI/BIOS (version 1204) dates from 2016.  Please check at the manufacturer's website to see if there are any UEFI/BIOS updates available for your system.  This is just in case there has been a recent update.Only 4 Windows Update hotfixes installed.  Most build 10586 (TH2/1511) systems have more than this.  Please visit Windows Update and get ALL available Windows Updates. The actual number is not important.  Rather it's important that you checked manually, installed any available updates, and didn't experience any errors when checking or updating.MSI Afterburner and Riva Tuner (along with EVGA Precision) are known to cause BSOD's in some Windows systems (it's driver is usually RTCore64.sys).  Please un-install them immediately! If you're overclocking, please stop the overclock while we're troubleshooting.  Feel free to resume the overclock once the system has been stabilized.Your description of multiple different BSOD errors may be suggestive of a hardware problem. Please start with these free hardware diagnostics:  http://www.carrona.org/hwdiag.html Beyond that, I'd suggest updating the older drivers that appear in the memory dumps below.Pay particular attention to those that date from before the release of the Fall  Update (15 November 2015). Analysis:The following is for information purposes only. Hello I have been having a major issue with Crossfire BSoD Custom Rig on Gaming is while my custom built gaming rig I built it last August and it ran just fine until around December last year Whenever I was playing games after a while the sound would stutter really Custom Gaming Rig BSoD while Crossfire is on bad and the screen would freeze This would last a second but it kept happening every few seconds when it really got bad Restarts wouldn't help Even after I stopped playing the game it would audio video stutter while just my desktop was up I did a system restore and that didn't fix it I did a full length virus malware spyware scan and didn't find anything I updated my graphics driver from the manufacturers website since Windows told me it was good Windows says my audio drivers are good too I think I updated the audio driver from the manufacturers website but the driver version didn't change so I'm not sure if it did Finally I just completely wiped my computer I still continued to experience this problem I read somewhere that a cheap PSU could be the cause Well I had a w RaidMax Decided to rule that factor out so I replaced it with a w Corsair PSU During the same period I decided to upgrade my Sapphire to Sapphire 's in CrossFire configuration The results are still frustrating It appears my Audio Video stuttering is now gone From what I've tested so far anyway Now this is where I'm really having a problem I turned on CrossFire and launched Crysis I loaded up a save and after seconds in the mission my computer BSoDs It does this like clockwork every time When I turn CrossFire off my system appears to work fine Although when I finished testing Crysis with CrossFire off I went to launch another program and it BSoD So there is something definitely wrong still Another thing I will mention is both my Graphic cards are overclocked using MSI afterburner The first time Crysis crashed on me I immediately restored my graphic cards to factory clock It produced the same results so it would appear overclocking is not the culprit I launched Crysis again today to reproduce the results so the only DMP file that needs viewed is the one from today I just decided to leave the others in the upload just in case Please if anybody can help me I would greatly appreciate it I've been playing around the past few days and have found out that my original problem still hasnt gone away After playing Saints Row for a while the audio video stuttering came back and got so bad that I had to stop playing Could this be a possible bad motherboard Another thing I forgot to mention a few months back when I went to boot up my computer I was greeted with Gigabyte's back up bios software Apparently my main bios somehow corrupted so the back up bios had to restore the main I was thankful for that feature but at the same time worried why that happened

Hi, I have been having random BSOD problems for a while now, mainly seems to be when gaming.

When a dump file is created ntoskrnl.exe seems to come up a lot. Gpu and cpu temps all seem fine 70/54-60 approx.

I hope from the mini dump file someone point out to me any potential reasons for these BSOD.

If any other information needed please ask.

Thanks in advance.

Hi guys so I've built this rig and I just went ahead and booted it up got windows 7 ultimate x64 and i'm really not sure whats going on. the ram, graphics card, and processor are from an old computer that used to run perfectly fine. Now with a new mobo/hdd i'm getting blue screens whenever anything intensive happens. But even just watching a YouTube video will cause bsod eventually. I think it may be driver related. I've tested the ram and found that's not the problem. I really could use some help. it's not my cpu overheating either

I have tons of minidump files. Should I just post them?
edit: posted the wrong zip fixed now

A:Custom built rig BSOD on gaming/benchmarking brand new

I updated the bios, reinstalled my realtek 81111f drivers updated my amd chipset drivers reinstalled nvidia drivers direct x drivers I could really use some help, Thanks!

update: I think the bsod's have stoped, now my cpu is always on full blast, its impossible for me to play any graphic intensive games despite my specs the best I can handle is 2d, I wonder what the problem is now.

Hey Guys,

I'm getting more and more frequent BSOD's on a new build whilst gaming and idle or browsing the web. Blue Screen View is pointing it's finger at ntoskrnl.exe

My system is custom built, only about 1 month old.

Win 7 Professional SP1 (retail)
i5-3570k - stock
ASRock Z77 Extreme 4
Sapphire HD 7850 - stock
8gb G.Skill Ripjaws
Crucial M4 64bg boot drive
1.5tb external HDD
XFX Pro 750w PSU

I had messed around with a bit of OCing at the start but have everything set to stock now.

Mosy common culprits;

MEMORY_MANAGEMENT 0x0000001a

PFN_LIST_CORRUPT 0x0000004e

SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION 0x0000003b

Oh I reinstalled AVG the other day as there was 2 BSODs attributed to that so that does not seem to be causing trouble anymore

Hope I've attached everything ok.

Any help would be great!

:EDIT: I tried running the perform /report but it's just sitting there running and nothing is happening.

Hi everyone My new build is giving my headaches I get memory mostly related ntoskrnl.exe when win 8.1 gaming BSOD management and PFN List Corrupt BSOD's when running games usually they are fine running a very demanding game on full settings but when I load unload a new map or level or close a game down it can happen Rome II is quite bad for them I've seen one on Dota and one when using Chrome to watch youtube too So far I've Done several clean installs Looked at both all the latest drivers I could find provided by slimdrivers etc or tried leaving the barebones stock drivers on the system to see if that makes a difference Grabbed all the windows updates Ran memtest on my ram overnight no problems Ran VMT on my graphics card memory no issues Carried out sfc ntoskrnl.exe related BSOD win 8.1 mostly when gaming scannow - It did come up with some errors I used dism commands to restore the image n stuff re-scanned and nothing shows up now Carried out a full chkdsk r Reseated everything inside my machine Updated bios made sure bios had my memory timings correct Disabled a few of it's spicy power saving features but I don't really know what I'm doing in bios to be honest I tried to use driver verifier but it keeps crashing on boot so disabled for now I'm pretty rubbish at computers so even if I've already done something I'm willing to try again According to Whocrashed everything is happening in the ntoskrnl exe module whatever that means SF dumps attached Thanks again

A:ntoskrnl.exe related BSOD win 8.1 mostly when gaming

All BSOD's indicated you might have a bad RAM stick. If you used the Windows Memory test, sometimes it will not detect errors. Try to re-seat your RAM and you can also increase the RAM voltage in BIOS by .1 ~ .15

Download: Memtest86+ - Advanced Memory Diagnostic Tool and run the test for at least 6-8 hours or 5 passes unless errors occur before.

Hi Forums I recently bought a new computer from a pc build website I installed Win install, ntoskrnl/win32k Win7 Custom New BSOD issues Fresh Build, HP bit and started to instantly experience BSODs After a bit of diagnostics memtest told me that one of the RAM sticks was horrifically broken New Custom Build, Fresh Win7 install, BSOD issues ntoskrnl/win32k that has since been sent off for replacement and the system has been 'more' stable with only gb However I have still been experiencing BSODs specifically when the computer isn't doing very much of anything I have been trying to play BF which as you will probably know is littered with awful programming and has constant crashes generally though of the time these are 'soft crashes' and I can ctrl alt delete and end the process Most of the BSODs seem to not actually be related to the game crashing though may have come about because I have been trying to update my drivers etc etc to stop the constant game crashes I have done another fresh install since removing one of the gb ram sticks and did the usual driver installs updates and microsoft important updates I then went through and re-installed all my usual programs - vlc skype CCcleaner malwarebytes adobe air flash postgresql bbflashback video recorder MSE Since my last fresh install on the th November I have had BSODs many of which have come about when the computer is either basically idle or i'm watching a youtube video or just browsing files in explorer rather than whilst playing bf or doing more intense stuff x system service exception x kmode exception not handled x memory management x page fault in nonpaged area All my drivers are as far as I can see up to date where possible I auto detect Hopefully I have done this properly and included all information required in my pc specs pane and from the SFDTool Thanks in advance this has been a very frustrating and confusing few weeks The computer can work for hours on end absolutely fine including to play bf at high fps on high settings then suddenly doing nothing it crashes multiple times lsaw EDIT- As per the nd post in this thread- ntoskrnl exe BSOD randomly As far as I know nothing is OC I only put MSE on there I haven't run Chkdsk since this fresh install but had run it previously on my other installs Similarly I had run SFC before and got no errors Will check - now and potentially go back and redo steps and

Hi lsaw2.

Your crash dumps are not showing finite cause, but they are stop 0x3B, usually caused either by RAM or by any driver failure..

Test your RAM modules for possible errors.
How to Test and Diagnose RAM Issues with Memtest86+
Run memtest for at least 8 passes, preferably overnight.
If it start showing errors/red lines, stop testing. A single error is enough to determine that something is going bad there.

If memtest86+ is free from errors, enable Driver Verifier to monitor the drivers.
Driver Verifier - Enable and Disable
Run Driver Verifier for 24 hours or the occurrence of the next crash, whichever is earlier.

   Information
Why Driver Verifier:
It puts a stress on the drivers, ans so it makes the unstable drivers crash. Hopefully the driver that crashes is recorded in the memory dump.

How Can we know that DV is enabled:
It will make the system bit of slow, laggy.

   Warning
Before enabling DV, make it sure that you have earlier System restore points made in your computer. You can check it easily by using CCleaner looking at Tools > System Restore.

If there is no points, make a System Restore Point manually before enabling DV.

   Tip

If you fail to get on the Desktop because of DV, Boot into Advanced Boot Options > Safe mode. Disable DV there. Now boot normally again, and try following the instruction of enabling DV again.
If you cannot boot in Safe mode too, do a System Restore to a point you made earlier.

Let us know the results, with the subsequent crash dumps, if any.

I've been getting BSOD for the past 4 days but they only occur around once or twice per day. The BSOD happens only when my computer is idle but not when gaming. Help would be much appreciated. I've attached the zip file of the minidump files. FYI, most of the time the error code is KERNEL_DATA_INPAGE_ERROR.

A:One week old custom build getting random BSOD when idle but not gaming

Post it following the Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) Posting Instructions.

Upload your MSINFO32.nfo file.
Click on the start button
Type "msinfo32" (without quotes) in the search bar of the start menu, click the resulting link. It will open the System Information window.
File>Save. In the "File Name" filed, put "MSINFO32" (without Quote), give the save location to desktop, and click the "save" button.
Give the time for processing, it will save a .nfo file on your desktop.
Zip it, and upload it following the instruction.
And what is the brand of your 1 TB HDD? Is it still under warranty? If so, better you RMA it. It is showing huge and continuous problems..... apparently it is failing and causing all those BSODs, but the other files as per the BSOD posting instructions will help us infer in depth.

And Test your RAM modules for possible errors.
How to Test and Diagnose RAM Issues with Memtest86+
Run memtest for at least 8 passes, preferably overnight.

Let us know the results.

Hello! I've been recieving reoccurring BSODs from 3d gaming. BlueScreenView reports that I've been getting ntoskrnl+7cc40. The bug check string is usually DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL, IQRL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL, PAGE_FAULT_IN_NON_PAGED_AREA, and KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED. I have tried updating all of my drivers, sfc /scannow, and chkdsk. None seems to work. I'm running a HP Pavilion dv4-2145dx, that's about 2-3 years old.

Specs:
- Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit (OEM)
- AMD Turion(tm) II Dual-Core Mobile M520
- ATI Mobility Radeon 4200 Series
- 4gb ram

attached is my bsod dmp and system file collection
Please help! thanks in advance!

Hello I have been having this BSOD for about half a year now and I don't know why it is happening It always happens when I'm gaming not any other time it recently happened during Deus Ex and before that a varied amount of times with games like Jagged gaming ntoskrnl.exe BSOD error 0x0000003b when Alliance and Dark Messiah The good thing is that it doesn't happen often but it definitely is getting annoying The thing that frightens me is that it may be a problem with my hardware as I had ntoskrnl.exe BSOD error 0x0000003b when gaming reformatted my hard drive about three months ago and even after the reformat I still get BSODs Now the truly puzzling thing about this is before the reformat my BSODs while still being caused by ntoskrnl exe were usually x NTFS FILE SYSTEM errors while now they are all x b SYSTEM SERVICE EXCEPTION errors My processor is overclocked to ghz but it's stable and runs cool and I don't think it would cause that type of error My RAM is on default everything stock voltage mhz and manufacturer recommended timings This BSOD has happened to me while and without my video card being overclocked which is also stable -- to my knowledge so this further confuses me on why this would happened I really don't understand I don't see how it could be the software since I've been having BSODs before and after a total reformat And I don't particularly like ntoskrnl.exe BSOD error 0x0000003b when gaming the idea of RMAing a component and being without a computer for - weeks Any help is appreciated

This has been going on for a while now. I replaced my motherboard and a bad hard drive. I run off an SSD (samsung 830) as my boot drive with a 1 TB hard drive for storage. I ran memtest multiple times with no errors. Could this be a failing PSU?

The debug info in WhoCrashed said this was not a hardware issue but most likely a driver. I uninstalled all the audio drivers except the one I used just in case. I reverted all my overclocking for the CPU and ram back to default.

Thanks if you can help

Welcome

Your BSODs don't give a probable cause.

I've seen Daemon tools installed in your computer which is a known cause for BSODs

Please uninstall it and run driver verifier.

Lets enable driver verifier to rule out buggy drivers
Driver Verifier - Enable and Disable

Information
Driver Verifier runs in the background, "testing" drivers for bugs. If it finds one, a Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) will result; the corresponding dump file will hopefully show the faulty driver.

Continue to use your system normally, and if you know what causes the crash, do that repeatedly. The objective here is to get the system to crash because Driver Verifier is stressing the drivers out. If it doesn't crash for you, then let it run for at least 36 hours of continuous operation.

Hi folks,

I'm a bit stumped on this error and was hoping some fine gents would have the time to look at this dump and see what might be causing my blue screens. It started in the last two weeks while I was playing SWTOR or HoN. There was no rhyme or reason when it happened, seems pretty random other than it happens while gaming. It's only happened about 5 times, but that seems consistent enough to make me worry.

Unfortunately I don't know what else has changed on my system other than installing Asus AI Suite and EVGA Precision for monitoring / fan control.

Please see the relevant dump files attached (Both seem different which is a bit odd... ).

I would appreciate any help.

Thank you, J

Hey everyone,

I am experiencing BSODs whenever I play games that put a heavier load on the PC. It is not exact, it is quite random, sometimes when I have netflix and LoL/other game running, it will just crap out.

I've attached the DM Log and SF Diagnostic.

Any help appreciated.

A:BSOD - hal.dll & ntoskrnl.exe - While Gaming/Heavier Load

You have 5 hard drives. What is the make/model/wattage and age of your Power Supply?

These devices don't have drivers installed:

SM Bus Controller PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_8CA2&SUBSYS_85341043&REV_00\3&11583659&0&FB The drivers for this device are not installed.

Ethernet Controller PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_15A0&SUBSYS_862A1043&REV_00\3&11583659&0&C8 The drivers for this device are not installed.

PCI Simple Communications Controller PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_8CBA&SUBSYS_85341043&REV_00\3&11583659&0&B0 The drivers for this device are not installed.

The SM Bus Controller is likely a part of the chipset drivers for your system. The Ethernet controller is most likely your Intel Ethernet networking drivers. And the PCI Simple Communications Controller is most likely a part of the Intel Management Engine Interface drivers. Please visit the Asus website and download the latest, Win8.1 compatible version of these drivers for your system.

This is most likely a hardware or an incompatibility problem with your system. As there isn't any evidence of extremely older drivers, incompatibility is less likely than a hardware problem (there are other things possible - but they are even more unlikely).
As such, please start with these free hardware diagnostics: Hardware Diagnostics

Also, to help rule out the other possibilities, please run Driver Verifier according to these instructions: Driver Verifier Settings

Please remove the Logitech Camera software and disconnect the camera from your system. This is a temporary measure to help rule out these older drivers. Once it's done, feel free to reinstall the latest, Win8.1 compatible drivers for this device.

Please remove Speedfan, it's drivers are also older.

Please remove Virtual Clone drive. This is a temporary measure to help rule out these older drivers. Once it's done, feel free to reinstall the latest, Win8.1 compatible drivers for this device.

Interestingly, your Intel ethernet drivers aren't installed, but the Intel ethernet drivers are present in the memory dump (and are older). Please update them to the latest, Win8.1 compatible version. Do you have 2 ethernet ports on your motherboard? Is it possible that one of them may be damaged? Are both connected to the network (if so, please disconnect one and test with that configuration)?

Game crashes during gameplay (most notably The Old Republic) but also in other situations (Photoshop CS4 plugin HDR Effex Pro).

Windows 7 64 bit Ultimate
Asus Formula Crosshair IV MB
16GB Corsair DDR3 1333 GHz
580 GTX nVidia
160GB SSD
2 TB WD HD
Corsair GS800 power supply

I've been having this issue with various games, with varying frequency. Batman Arkham Asylum, Skyrim, Mass Effect, and most notably The Old Republic. ToR crashed multiple times today (see minidump attachment.) Also, using Nik Effex HDR Effex Pro (a CS4 plugin) has elicited this BSOD.

Any comments and suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

How To Find Drivers:

Quote:
- search Google for the name of the driver
- compare the Google results with what's installed on your system to figure out which device/program it belongs to
- visit the web site of the manufacturer of the hardware/program to get the latest drivers (DON'T use Windows Update or the Update driver function of Device Manager).
- if there are difficulties in locating them, post back with questions and someone will try and help you locate the appropriate program.

- - The most common drivers are listed on this page: Driver Reference Driver Reference
- - Driver manufacturer links are on this page: Drivers and Downloads

Also your ESET needs to be updated.
Since your ram appears to be ok,please run verifier to find which driver is causing the crashes.

In Windows 7 you can make a Startup Repair disk by going to Start....All Programs...Maintenance...Create a System Repair Disc - with Windows Vista you'll have to use your installation disk or the "Repair your computer" option at the top of the Safe Mode menu .

Then, here's the procedure:
- Go to Start and type in "verifier" (without the quotes) and press Enter
- Select "Create custom settings (for code developers)" and click "Next"
- Select "Select individual settings from a full list" and click "Next"
- Select everything EXCEPT FOR "Low Resource Simulation" and click "Next"
- Select "Select driver names from a list" and click "Next"
Then select all drivers NOT provided by Microsoft and click "Next"
- Select "Finish" on the next page.

Reboot the system and wait for it to crash to the Blue Screen. Continue to use your system normally, and if you know what causes the crash, do that repeatedly. The objective here is to get the system to crash because Driver Verifier is stressing the drivers out. If it doesn't crash for you, then let it run for at least 36 hours of continuous operation (an estimate on my part).

If you can't get into Windows because it crashes too soon, try it in Safe Mode.
If you can't get into Safe Mode, try using System Restore from your installation DVD to set the system back to the previous restore point that you created.

Good evening So gaming. while ntoskrnl in Multiple BSOD's modules after years of lurking here and following instructions on likewise problems I still can't seem to fix my BSOD problems It crashes mostly in ntoskrnl while playing games different kinds of games What I have done so far Driver updates I can't remember how many times I've tried to update the drivers it's all up to date though Memtest no errors were found I stressed my videocard Multiple BSOD's in ntoskrnl modules while gaming. with some high stressing software to see if it was causing these errors no errors I installed fancontrol to keep tabs on different temperatures in my pc while playing these games however temperatures stay normal I opened up my pc to take away some of the dust and remarkably it actually did seem to work for two whole months without BSOD's confirmation bias obviously Now I can either open up the pc again and remove dust would this really be causing all these BSOD's or Multiple BSOD's in ntoskrnl modules while gaming. register here and ask for some sound advice

A:BSOD gaming hal error and ntoskrnl.exe Arma 2 & Black ops 2

Code:
BugCheck 124, {0, fffffa8007aa28f8, 0, 0}

Probably caused by : AuthenticAMD
Follow these steps: Stop 0x124 - what it means and what to try

Stop 0x124 never provides much good information and doesn't point any specific hardware; "AuthenticAMD" is a generic probably caused line with 0x124 BSODs, that's why it's always best to test all the hardware and follow the steps within the 0x124 link.

Here are some programs which will come in useful when following the steps -

Hard Drive:
Disk Check
CrystalDiskInfo - Software - Crystal Dew World
SeaTools for Windows | Seagate
Memory:RAM - Test with Memtest86+
Run Memtest86+ for least 7-8 passes, and preferrly overnight as it can take a while to fully complete.

Test each RAM stick individually, if an error is found then move the same RAM stick into the next DIMM slot and test again, if errors are found for the same RAM stick in every available slot then you have a faulty RAM module. On the other hand, if no errors are found in the next slot or the other slots for the same RAM module, then you have a faulty DIMM slot.

Test each RAM stick and every motherboard DIMM slot available.

Graphics Card:Video Card - Stress Test with Furmark
NVIDIA/AMD Video Card - Test with OCCT
CPU:Hardware - Stress Test With Prime95

Read all the steps within the hardware test tutorials very carefully, as stress tests is designed run components to their maximum capacity, in order to point out failing or faulty hardware components.

Attachment 279350I built my computer last week and everything was running fine. I suddenly started getting BSOD while either playing games such as Crysis, League of Legends, Portal 2, or even starting up the PC.

I tried a fresh install of Windows 7 and there were less crashes, but they still happened nonetheless.

Memtest passed without errors also.

BlueScreenView reported problems due to ntoskrnl.exe, USBsystem.exe and a few others, and I'll post the .zip of the dump files.

I'm fairly new to this so all help is appreciated,

Thanks a lot,

Jim.

I'll keep this short and sweet because I know how busy you guys are I built a gaming computer from scratch there were a lot of problems even getting it working initially this time as compared to the last one I built custom streaming gaming, build, crashes, BSOD, crashes game that I had zero problems with ever I am getting a lot of BSOD's games freeze and crash movies freeze and crash and streaming does too In addition I am getting an error occasionally with the GPU that tells me it has timed out and reset the GPU I used the windows recommended fix for this and set the response timeout time to seconds since I have done so I have only seen this problem once I was wondering if I had too little power for my system but I have seen threads with similar problems custom build, gaming, BSOD, game crashes, streaming crashes that have plenty of power I followed custom build, gaming, BSOD, game crashes, streaming crashes the instructions to the best of my ability and you should find all of the information you have asked for below Please don't hesitate to ask for anything else you may need I truly appreciate what you guys are doing here for so many people OS - Windows Vista Windows Ultimate x -bit or x x What was original installed OS on system W Ultimate x Is the OS an OEM version came pre-installed on system or full retail version YOU purchased it from retailer Purchased auth key downloaded and mounted files to flash drive for install Age of system hardware less than months components purchased separately at the same time Age of OS installation - have you re-installed the OS Original install on this hard drive Initial attempts to install the same OS to SSD failed and SSD was replaced with a standard SATA hard drive CPU AMD FX- Video Card MSI R GD T OC Radeon R MotherBoard - if NOT a laptop MSI A SLI KRAIT EDITION AMD CHIPSET Power Supply - brand amp wattage skip if laptop EVGA -B - -KR PLUS Bronze W ADDITIONAL INFO HD - Hitachi TB MB RPM SATA Gb s WIFI CARD - Mbps PCI -E WiFi wireless Card RAM - Kingston HyperX Fury Memory White - GB Kit x GB - DDR MHz - installed in the slots that don't share the bandwidth - don't know a ton about this so forgive me if that doesn't make total sense System Manufacturer Exact model number if laptop check label on bottom Laptop or Desktop custom built desktop mostly MSI components DRIVER VERIFIER - forced to reset computer to the restore point I was instructed to make before running it HD TEST - haven't run yet RAM TEST - haven't run yet ran windows memory test was never showed results after restart

IMO, the suggested fixes for the TDR timeout of the video card only conceals the problem - it doesn't fix it.If the card is timing out, then fixing the cause of the timeout is preferable (IMO) to just lengthening the timeout. Unfortunately it appears that the system has pirated software. Please get a legitimate copy installed and we'll be glad to help. Here's suggestions on how to ensure that your version is legitimate:  http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/genuinePlease be aware that we may not be able to fix it (as the hacks that were done to activate it will cause the OS to behave differently than we expect it to). If that's the case, our efforts to help may just waste your time. Secondly, the forum rules prohibit assisting with pirated software - so the topic would be closed if that is the case.As a courtesy, I will offer an analysis of your issues using the reports you provided.I will not answer any questions about the analysis until the system is made legitimate. If you do make it legitimate, please submit a new set of reports for us to check.Just FYI, sometimes the owner won't know about this.  So here's 2 scenarios that might ring a bell:- if they had a "friend" help with the computer - and the "friend" installed a pirated copy.- or they used a copy that they had from another OEM computer.  The OEM license is tied to the hardware that it came from - so you can't just use it on another system (that means that it's pirated). And here's the analysis:Only 263 Windows Update hotfixes installed.  Most systems with SP1 have 350-400 or more.  Please visit Windows Update and get ALL available updates (it may take several trips to get them all). The actual number is not important.  Rather it's important that you checked manually, installed any available updates, and didn't experience any errors when checking or updating. Many more Live Kernel Events than BSOD events in the WER section of the MSINFO32 report. This is suggestive of a hardware problem (this isn't a 100% diagnosis - rather it's an increased likelihood of a hardware problem).Regardless, it's enough to suggest doing hardware diagnostics.  Please start with these free hardware diagnostics:  http://www.carrona.org/hwdiag.html Out of 21 memory dumps there were 8 different BSOD  (aka STOP or BugCheck) error codes.  The differing error codes are usually symptomatic of a lower level problem within the system. They are usually caused by one of these things (the list is not in any sort of order):- borked (broken) hardware (several different procedures used to isolate the problem device)- BIOS issues (check for updates at the motherboard manufacturer's website)- overclocking/overheating - You'll know if you're overclocking or not. If uncertain we can suggest things to check.- dirt/dust/hair/fur/crud inside the case.  Blow out the case/vents with canned air (DO NOT use an air compressor or vacuum as they can cause damage to the system)- missing Windows Updates- compatibility issues (3rd party hardware/drivers), older systems, or even pirated systems- low-level driver problems- or even malware (scanned for when we ask for hardware diagnostics from http://www.carrona.org/initdiag.html or http://www.carrona.org/hwdiag.html ).Please get a head start on the hardware diagnostics - they are located here:  http://www.carrona.org/hwdiag.htmlAMD OverDrive (AODDriver2.sys) is either a stand-alone application, or a component of the AMD VISION Engine Control Center.  This driver is known to cause BSOD's on some Windows systems. NOTE:  these symptoms were from the previous release of OverDrive.  The new release uses the same driver name, but is dated from 4 November 2013. Please un-install all AMD/ATI video stuff from Control Panel...Programs...Un-install a program. Please note that I stated "video stuff", as some integrated processors may have the graphics chip built in (which may involve the chipse... Hello everyone this is the first time i have ever posted in a tech support forum but this one has really got me baffled so any help will be gaming, randomly when BSOD strikes "ntoskrnl.exe"? most appreciated I have followed the instruction and posted the files here Or if you prefer to download them from the site i have figured out how to attach them Unfortunately sometimes it does not actually BSOD so no dump is recorded however by luck i saved one to documents a few days ago and i put that in a folder entitled quot olddump quot After interrogating that one and the two that followed unfortunately those ones are lost i believe BSOD randomly strikes when gaming, "ntoskrnl.exe"? the error has something to do with ntoskrnl exe something about symbols not found looking around on google hasn't dug anything i can use up so if anyone can point me in the right direction would be great I first started getting errors whilst playing battlefield i can usually play bf reasonably with no lag get the odd crash but these ones were different and ended up in a restart or bsod the problem is and why i am so sketchy is the errors occurred extremely randomly and sometimes after extended periods of gametime It wasnt too much of an issue and i didnt give it much thought until i tried to play the guild wars beta weekend then i was hit with almost constant BSOD or minutes into getting in this one was alot easier to pinpoint and after a few restarts i worked out it was FRAPS that was causing the problems i disabled and it worked fine In between this i was playing Age of Empires on-line with no problems at all When the BWE finished i gave my computer a spring clean clearing out all dust getting rid of all the quot crap quot i didnt need removed all my old fraps videos and gave it a defrag disk cleanup full virus scan i defiantly noticed the difference I began playing Empire Total War and i received a number of BSOD also some crashes which froze my computer and what i can only describe as gave a quot blind quot effect on the screen the sound turned into a quot hum quot I had a previous problem like this with my RAM so i did a memtest it detected no errors at all I have stick of DDR RAM GB which i am unable to change at present Last night i did every scan i possibly could i ran a chkdsk defrag sfc scan full virus scan registry clean yet when i get back into Empire Total War this afternoon exactly the same thing although this time it just shut down I have been monitoring temperatures at idle for the past week now and the temps rarely go above idle and are quite consistent GPU stays under as i say fans are cleared of dust and can confirm they are all spinning I think it is graphical related simply because it only happens when i play video games although the quot ntoskrnl exe quot i got from the dump file makes me think it may be some NT coding i am really not sure Over the period of the errors i have done the following - updated my graphic card to the latest drivers - carried out various scans cleanups - searched google to try and find what is wrong with limited success - i have even tried gently shaking my desk incase something was loose or faulty - removed put back different USB printer etc to see if that made a difference I did notice whilst playing movies from DVD it would freeze at specific points no big deal but it froze my whole computer for a good minutes when i tried to move on maybe related maybe not Things i am unable to do - Buy change hardware unfortunately this is not possible at present although i am looking at purchasing more RAM Things i am unwilling to do - Windows reinstall i really would like to keep this as a last last resort simply because the amount i would have to backup i really dont have the time or patience although if it is the only option then i will obviously consider it Things i am going to try - another ckhdsk i did one but not sure i did it correctly i tried to do one while posting this but had to exit it ... A:BSOD randomly strikes when gaming, "ntoskrnl.exe"?

-update- after some real troubleshooting i am of the view its the cooling on my PC which is very unfortunate.. very odd, when i loaded up my total war the temps shot up from around ~40 to nearly 60 (i think my pc cuts out at around 60/70), my GPU which increased greatly in temperature, i guess the fans are working, just not how they should be.

I think it is my GPU fan though, because it didn't stabilise, it just kept increasing and when i closed down the application it decreased back down to 40, with my CPU at a stable 45.

Will be helpful if the mods could keep it in this forum until i have confirmed the issue, maybe someone would be able to confirm it anyway from the logs, i don't know.

I am wondering if it has anything related to the overpower feature that comes with the control centre thing for my graphics card, i recently disabled overpower/clocking thing as i dislike the whole thing and i never even knew it was switched on! Will try and update tomorrow or tonight depending how bothered i can be to lug my box out :-)

How much $ can u spend on a GPU?
Recommending: http://www.compusa.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=6816351&sku=A455-6870 (Costs alot, the 6850 would work fine too) The 5000 Series is also great! If u dont like AMD/Radeon. U can go with a 580 (Nvidia).

Hey guys, I'm looking to build a new PC for running top of the range games in full detail smoothly.

Can I build a system like this within a budget of £800? (approx. $1,200 as of writing)

I am looking for a build with SLI, using an AMD processor and (1 or 2) XFX GeForce 9800 GX2 Graphics Cards (I heard it is a very good card).

Any help as to which components I should buy would be highly appreciated
Thanks, Luke.

Although it's buying a system, rather than building it from scratch, would something like this....

be any good for what you are looking for?

ps. I am aware once you add the vat it's actually £850, so not sure if it would be too far over you're budget anyway

I recently made this rig by myself and have had it now for about a year and a bit.
I currently play quite of lot of games at the momment including:
Call of duty 1,2,4,5,6
Crysis
Medal of Airbourne
GTA
Fallout 3
Mirror's Edge e.t.c
Recently I have experienced "lag" or jumpy gameplay.
And was wondering if there was anything I could do to my current rig to improve gameplay...
ANY Ideas???
ANY Shopping links will also be handy.

THE RIG:
Operating System Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate
Internet Explorer 8.0.7600.16385
DirectX DirectX 10.0
Motherboard M2N68-VM
CPU Type DualCore AMD Athlon 64 X2, 2900 MHz (14.5 x 200) 5600+
Motherboard Chipset nVIDIA nForce 7xxx-6xx, AMD Hammer
System Memory 3072 MB (DDR2-667 DDR2 SDRAM)
Video Adapter NVIDIA GeForce 9400 GT[/URL] (1024 MB)
Also not sure if any of this helps
Temperatures (Degrees C):
CPU Idle:54
Motherboard Idle 44
In game the motherboard increase by about 8/9 degrees however the cpu stays pretty much the same.

I'm not a expert, or even a professional, but I'm pretty sure that would work together. But wait for a more experienced person to respond to confirm.

A:How to sell my Custom gaming PC ?

I can see you must have spent a lot of money on that PC but, it is clearly a few years old. A new PC that can match or exceed it's performance will cost considerably less now, thanks to the pace of development, especially in graphics cards, so you will not a good return from selling this machine, probably less than half you paid for it.

i mainly play WoW and fps games and listen to a good deal of music.

A:Need a custom gaming computer for around $400-$500

500$ seems like a rather small budget to me, but with cheap components you may be able to squeeze it in that budget. Places where you can skimp a bit are the graphics card (WoW runs fine on a GF6xxx series card and Intel GMA900), and you could probably get a cheap cpu from the last generation of dual-cores. You probably shouldn't skimp on the motherboard as it will limit your future upgrade options.

A:Custom gaming computer under $500?

There's no way you're gonna make an i7 setup for even 700 or so. And even if you could you'd be wasting parts, with a budget like that it leaves little money for a vga, and there's no point of having an i7 if you're running something like a 9600gt.

For your budget, i wouldn't buy anything less than something in the 8800 series, if you don't wanna be updating again for a while. The X1950GT is a great card, but quite a way below an 8800GT and not DX10 compatible.

Personally, i'd go the sata route, purely for ease of cable management and general speed. Although not all sata drives are faster than Pata drives.
I'd highly recommend the Samsung SpinPoint series, excellent drives, and silent.

Hi I built this custom htpc a few months ago and have experienced regular crashes reboots The system is based on an MSI Z -GD mobo with i - S processor in ntoskrnl.exe on Crash/reboots HTPC: symptoms custom ntkrnlmp.exe a fanless Streacom case designed for the purpose with extensive heatsinking To ensure temperatures are not excessive I have kept the processor within the Streacom recommendations nothing is overclocked and it uses only Intel's integrated graphics with no other video card All components are new The only quot unusual quot item has been an Asus Xonar STX sound PCI-e card The system is used for TV windows media center as a Plex server and a Foobar server - not much else By way of troubleshooting after the first few Crash/reboots on custom HTPC: ntoskrnl.exe ntkrnlmp.exe symptoms weeks I did a clean reinstall to remove any issues I might have caused as I iterated my way to the optimum setup but this made no difference I also replaced the PSU with no effect I have run memtest on the memory - this produced errors in the new quot hammer test quot but G-Skill apparently discount this test and when I run memtest which does not include such a test it shows no errors Temperatures are ok - typically - degrees C with occasional and up to only when doing extreme tasks like Memtest and the crashes do not seem to happen when anything intensive is going on I have been blaming the issue on the Asus Xonar STX sound card as google suggests some people find this causes BSOD issues and the Asus drivers are considered buggy and I had been using the alternative UNI drivers I have therefore recently now removed the card and installed the mobo's built in realtek sound However I have already had one reboot These reboots can be while watching TV using Windows Media Center or when updating a library in Plex or simply when putting Flash video to full screen in Chrome browser Rather than attempt another clean rebuild with no more likelihood that I will eliminate the problem this time than last time I would appreciate any help you folks can give me in tracking down the problem so I can fix it I have now switched minidump reporting one but the last reboot had already resulted in a MEMORY DMP file and one minidump file so I am attaching the requested zip file Thanks

A:Crash/reboots on custom HTPC: ntoskrnl.exe ntkrnlmp.exe symptoms

Some modules are unloaded there, which resisting the crash dump recording mechanism to record the complete data there.

Code:
fffff880`0330e098 fffff880`058a5b8e <Unloaded_spsys.sys>+0x3cb8e
fffff880`0330e0d8 fffff880`058a41f4 <Unloaded_spsys.sys>+0x3b1f4
fffff880`0330e0f0 fffff880`0586c720 <Unloaded_spsys.sys>+0x3720

fffff880`0330e100 fffff880`0587b510 <Unloaded_spsys.sys>+0x12510
fffff880`0330e108 fffff880`058a4270 <Unloaded_spsys.sys>+0x3b270
So crash dump analysis is also not being helpful.

Free up the startup. Windows does not need any other program to auto start with it, but the auto start programs often conflicts and causes various problems including BSODs.
Click on the Start button
Type ?msconfig (without quotes), click the resulting link. It will open the System Configuration window.
Select the ?Startup? tab.
Deselect all items other than the antivirus.
Apply > OK
Accept then restart.
Then let us see the zip for the next BSOD, that may contain some information. To replicate a BSOD in your situation, put the computer in hibernate/sleep and wake it up.

A:Custom Computer at 70C While Gaming (Is it a bad thing?)

70 seem far too high to me considering the max temp should be around 61:
AMD Processors for Desktops: AMD Phenom

Operating a component above its maximum rated temperature could damage it.

I would re-check the CPU cooler and thermal paste application, and then stress test the CPU under load to make sure its all good:

Computer was BSODs Gaming PC Custom on relatively Built new a built around mid August this year started crashing around mid-september for seemingly no reason It's crashed around - times by now the most recent one being today while playing Guild Wars Every time it's crashed has been while a game was running except for one time when it crashed sometime during the night when it was supposed to be asleep I've constantly been checking the temps of my CPU BSODs on a relatively new Custom Built Gaming PC and Graphics Card and neither ever go beyond around degrees Celsius while gaming After posting on a different forum I was told that the problem was due to a bad controller driver from windows so when I updated it I figured that the problem had passed since there have been no crashes that I know of that was around a month and a half ago When I was building the computer I accidentally got some of the thermal compound on the outer edge of the metal cover on top of the CPU while installing the heat sink I wiped it off as best as I could but I'm worried that it might be causing a problem as well I used IC Diamond which as far as I know is non-conductive so I wasn't too worried about it I'm running a Mini-ITX system in a BitFenix Prodigy so space is pretty tight and it would be fairly difficult to take apart to try and clean the rest of it off if possible If nothing software related can be found in the attached file then I'll take a look and see what I can do but I would rather not if possible Thank you in advance for any help you may be able to provide

I am considering building a new mobile gaming computer (by mobile I mean a micro-atx case and a compatible motherboard). I would like it to be a budget build -- it does not need to be a top of the line nor a next generation system. I have a graphics card picked out, but am struggling on the motherboard and case. In the past, I have only built full sized desktop gaming rigs and am worried about the noise and heat with micro-atx cases. I was wondering if anyone has experience with micro-atx cases and gaming. Also, any opinions on micro-atx motherboards and gaming would be great. If I am dreaming that a gaming system can be micro-atx please let me know. I have searched Google and have found few articles on this topic and the ones that I find are fairly old.

Any help or opinions would be greatly appreciated!

A:New Custom Mobile Gaming Computer

First off dont give up! Yes mATX gaming is for sure possible! I know a guy who only uses tiny little systems for gaming!

The first thing is to keep the system simple! I recommend 1 video card. 1 hard drive and 1 optical, and thats it. Honestly you could go with something small, like an intel i5 cpu, and a couple 2 gig sticks of ram and be just fine.

with mATX if your gaming. depending what case you purchase, sometimes I find the fans included have to be replaced right away. It's always preference, but keeping them quit but getting good airflow, well, it just sometimes doesnt happen out of the box.

My recommendation is check newegg, see what they have for small form factor parts, and go from there.

Just drop a response if you want me to try and look up some options for you.

A few of your dumps (0x50, 0x124) are pointing towards hardware errors. 0x124s are usually always hardware errors but rarely give us an indication of what the problem actually is. **************UPDATE 5 ****************

The sequence of events went as follows.
RAM test 1 pass was passed. Verifier.exe caused immediate BSOD on windows start when activated. Trying to hunt down drivers revealed any combo of 3 or more drivers gave BSOD at startup. Randomly decided to recheck RAM. Failed memtest after 27 minutes pass 1. Found one RAM stick that passed after one pass slot0. Got fed up of waiting for other slot's. Devised a plan to use verifier to check the RAM by seeing which combo's of RAM sticks gave BSOD on startup. All combo's passed. And now verifier does not give BSOD on any setting. Began to hate life. Cheered myself up with prospect of sleep. Put all 16 Gb RAM in properly and ran mentest for 18 hours, 6 passes. No error. Still no verifier.exe errors when enabled. Wrote this update.

If RAM failed after 27min one test, and then after swapping around a retest of 18 hours has no error, one would presume the RAM may be ok. Equally, I believe one could say the RAM is suspect. So, if the test is failed it really doesn't tell us anything except there is a problem somewhere. But we know there is a problem since we have BSOD!!! If I hadn't rerun the test I wouldn't question the RAM.

So the question is: how do I categorically ensure that a stick of RAM is good? Is memtest on RAM with an alternative working computer enough?

In summary:

I ran memtest for 18 hours, which was 6 passes. No problems detected. Using verifier.exe with protocols given on this forum I no longer get BSOD.

Currently my hypothesis is that the RAM was never seated correctly, or given that it takes a bit of force to insert correctly into motherboard, the flexing has at least temporarily defused whatever fault was causing my BSOD. Tenuous I know. But I really have no other explanation other than something somewhere on the motherboard or power is failing, or even the RAM.

I'm getting random Blue Screens and can't figure out why. I'm not running any hardcore programs. I'm mostly just using Microsoft Office and Firefox. The BSOD's seem to happen when I'm in Outlook, Excel or Firefox. Haven't been able to determine exactly which at the time as I'm moving back and forth between them quite often.

I've tried the SFC command and it didn't find anything. I used BlueScreenViewer but not a lot of help. All drivers for sound and video have been updated. I've also updated the firmware to the Crucial M4 SSD version 040H.

Any insight would be great.

Daemon Tools, Alcohol 120% and Power Archiver Pro uses SCSI Pass Through Direct (SPTD), which is a well known BSOD causer. Uninstall Alcohol 120% at first. Then download SPTD standalone installer from Disk-Tools.com, and execute the downloaded file as guided below :
Double click to open it.
Click this button only:

If it is grayed out, as in the picture, there is no more SPTD in your system, and you just close the window.
Next uninstall Virtual CloneDrive, as vclone.sys is as fatal as SPTD.sys, too.
After doing these two, report the situation back.

Hello, I'm putting together a gaming machine, 2000$ spending limit...I plan to make it a P4 3.0ghz or 2.8ghz, 1gig PC3200 DDR Ram, 60gig 7200RPM HD, Radeon9800 256mb / 128mb, 500watt powersupply, and a thermaltake case (with 7 cooling fans, I'll probably add other means of cooling too). Does anyone have any reccomendations for a good gaming motherboard? I'd prefer onboard lan support, but all of them have that now...I'd prefer not, but it could have onboard sound. Thanks in advance.

Hello everyone I have been running this problem down now for some time and it seems to be getting worse I will BSOD randomly typically while gaming though it does happen sometimes while just web browsing or watching Netflix I have tried running with my overclocks turned back to stock and ntoskrnl.exe, mostly gaming. with BSODs during have been tested stable for a long time now I have updated many drivers from BSODs with ntoskrnl.exe, mostly during gaming. USB to my Display drivers including a roll back on the display drivers I have done a few re-formats and re-install of windows as well I did previously think I would not have a problem until Windows update had finished installing it's many updates after both re-formats but that may have been in my head I have ran Memtest on my ram and it has all checked out good but I have not eliminated the possibility of having corrupted memory in my GPUs I haven't been able to try an upgrade repair install with my win disk yet as it says my current OS is newer then the one I am quot upgrading quot to and won't let me complete it Between the multiple instances of ntoskrnl exe in my crash reports I was hoping it was a software issue but the many usb sys callouts have me leaning towards hardware more than likely my MOBO with will only be in warranty for a couple more months Short of the long is I thought I would post my issue and reports up here with the SF Diag and see if any of you can spot something I may have missed in my frustration and impatience Thank you for looking -Jon Edit I should also note that this does not just occur during gaming but has also happened while the computer is sitting idle Also it tends to happen more often with more advanced games such as BF and StarCraft Arma and Sim City to some extent and a lot less with Warthunder but still once and awhile I have gotten used to having a BSOD every once and awhile due to a known bios issue with my cards that I found out about long after I bought them but that was usually very far between and quite random and ONLY during games especially BF Until recently as in the last month my system has been rock solid stable otherwise

A:BSODs with ntoskrnl.exe, mostly during gaming.

Are you overclocking?

Code:
Processor Version AMD Phenom(tm) II X6 1090T Processor
Processor Voltage 89h - 0.9V
External Clock 200MHz
Max Speed 3200MHz
Current Speed 4000MHz
As you are getting BSODs, you should stop overclocking and run all the hardware components like CPU, GPU and RAM to their default settings. Also set the BIOS to default, too.

Update your ATI/AMD display driver to the latest WHQL.
You can get it from the link in our forum, Latest AMD Catalyst Video Driver for Windows 7, or you may go to AMD Graphics Driver and Software and opt for Automatically Detect and Install the appropriate driver for your card.

During installation, you may opt for advanced installation, and install the display driver only, not the Catalyst Control Center.

Hello,

I got a brand new custom built computer only 3 weeks ago, but the graphics card included: amd radeon HD 7700 stopped responding every so often. However today, the screen froze and multiple artifacts appeared across the screen. I then turned the computer off so as not to cause any damage that may occur.

The computer specs are as follows:
Spec :-Case :Mars Midi Tower Case Red Led Fans
Power Supply : 500 Watt With Power Cable Supplied
Motherboard : Asus M5A78L-M USB3
CPU : AMD Piledriver FX 4350 4.2Ghz Quad Core CPU (turbo 4.3Ghz)
Hard Drive : 500gb Sata Hard Drive
Memory : 4gb DDR3 1600mhz Branded Memory
Graphics Card : ATI 7750 2gb ddr3 (Tripple screen support via DVI / HDMI / DISPLAY PORT)
Optical Drive : 24x Dual Layer DVD Writer

Has anyone got any ideas for what I should do. This happened to my old computer and I left it to the point where the card blew completely.

A:Custom Built Rig - FreshTech Gaming Computer - Amd Redeon HD 7700

What kind of PSU are you using can you find the make and model

Could be a number of issues but the PSU is the first guess if it is cheap then it probably is that

If not the PSU next step is to try the card in a different machine if it works fine then it would be a problem with your new set up either bad drivers not enough power to the card or a bad PCI-e slot or even a bad card

A bad card would render a TDR Timeout Detection Recovery if they driver crashes multiple times and this is what you get either over clocking can help or t he card simply is broken

The HD 7 series had many problems t hat gave it what you are referring too try to overclock the 2d settings and see if it goes away

BTW you mentioned artifacts the card might be broken already

Hello Recently I got a few bluescreens while playing World of Warcraft which I thought was very weird because all of my hardware is pretty new Here is some info about my computer Intel i - GHZ EVGA GTX SSC super superclocked - the fans are designed not to turn on until card reaches c gb Hyper X Fury ram tb WD Black HDD Windows OS At first I noticed three bluescreens then I used EVGA Precision X with a custom aggressive fan profile and BSOD ntoskrnl.exe+74ec0 ntoskrnl.exe address the problem went away temporarily but then the computer crashed later on I'm not sure if that's relevant or not I ran a diagnostic on my harddrive and processor and both were fine The RAM seems more difficult to test because it said something about usb drives so I decied to stray away from that unless it was absolutely necessary and then get help from someone who BSOD ntoskrnl.exe address ntoskrnl.exe+74ec0 knows what they're doing I am going to upload the dump files that were saved by bluescreenview Any help at all would be greatly appreciated

CRITICAL_OBJECT_TERMINATION BSODs (0xf4) are usually related to an issue with the hard drive.

If you have an SSD, make sure that the firmware is upgraded.

If HDD, run SeaTools for DOS, LONG test - Hard Drive (HDD) Diagnostics - Sysnative Forums

Hi there,

Recently I've been getting BSOD while playing WoW. I'm not sure what details to give other than the dump so I'll just tell you about my computer:

Intel i5 4690 3.5-3.9 GHZ
EVGA GTX 970 SSC (super superclocked - the fans are designed not to turn on until card reaches 60c)
16gb Hyper X Fury ram
1tb WD Black HDD
Windows 7 OS

I noticed that I haven't crashed yet while EVGA Precision X is up (it has a custom aggressive fan curve I made). Maybe this has to do with the fact that it replaces fan drivers, or something? I don't know. I'm pretty clueless as to what's going on because all these parts are pretty new and it only recently started, but it's crashed three times today. Here are the dumps.
Any help you guys can give would be greatly greatly appreciated. Thanks a ton!

I keep getting a BSOD (Critical_Object_Termination) but have no idea what is causing the issue. I tried in vain to debug my own minidump files but ended up getting nowhere.

So far i have run MemTest over the weekend with 107 passes. I also ran Prime95 64-bit for 4 hours on each of the FFT tests without error.

I have enabled driver verifier (following the guide on this site) and this has not caused anynew BSOD's.

I also get a random BSOD on startup but it has happened so infrequently i have been unable to boot with disable automatic restart on system failure enabled to capture the stop code.

I really could do with some expert advice please.

This is my first post so i apologise if i have missed something important but i have tried to read as much info as possible before posting.

Does anyone have any idea what could be causing these BSOD errors? It started with the +74200 error about a month ago (enduser is just now informing IT) and now it is the +73c40. I've already done several Memory tests to no avail. I'm about to just
reimage but don't want to if it's just a driver issue.

Thanks

Hi, I've been having this BSOD appear very randomly.

IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL 0x0000000a
(all reports in .rar file)

Sometimes within 1 hour, other times as long as 24hrs+. I've got my BIOS/Drivers up to date for my CPU, Graphics Card, and Motherboard. I've rigorously tested my memory and have never had any issues arise.

It has occurred during
3d gaming,
when the system has been idle,
also when browsing with firefox or ie.

Any help at all would be appreciated, I've struggled with this BSOD for years I would love to finally find whats causing it.

Thank you.

First lets start with asacpi.sys yours dated 2005
1-ASACPI.SYS

The pre 2009 version of this driver is a known BSOD cause.

Please visit this link: ASUS teK Computer Inc. -Support- Drivers and Download P7P55D LE
ASUSTeK Computer Inc. -Support- Drivers and Download P7P55D LE

Scroll down to the Utilities category, then scroll down to the "ATK0110 driver for WindowsXP/Vista/Windows 7 32&64-bit" (it's about the 12th item down).
Download and install it.
Go to C:\Windows\System32\drivers to check and make sure that the ASACPI.SYS file is date stamped from 2009 or 2010 (NOT 2005).

Hi this is my first time asking for help reading through most of the similar posts on this issue led me nowhere so I am hoping someone with more expertise can have a look and see what's wrong I'll try and be as detailed as possible so apologies in advance if this is too much info I have attached the Dmp files as well as the system health report to this post although I think some of the crashes on that [ntoskrnl.exe] Errors Driver BSODs (Different Gaming While each time) Dmp list are from a while back hopefully you can refer only to the ones that have happened off late The issue It seems to be that everytime I run a game within the first odd minutes of running it Either full screen or windowed mode I get a BSOD and crash Many of the crashes have not been picked up by the dump file however from memory amongst the usual drivers suggested are ntoskrnl exe hal dll Most of the time the BSOD locks up the PC before the crash file can be logged and I have to force a restart myself The BSOD's don't have any particular pattern as in they occur sometimes for a bunch of hours making any sort of gaming impossible but then can run fine for up to - days before coming back once again with a vengeance for a few hours I can be browsing watching videos music for hours and never have an issue but within a few minutes of loading a BSODs While Gaming (Different Driver Errors each time) [ntoskrnl.exe] game less than most of the time I'll get the bluescreen I've tested on multiple games Warhammer WoW Skyrim Troubleshooting steps I have taken Got a fresh HDD fresh install of Windows on it Had the first crash about minutes after installing the game on the new HDD Memtest came clean Replaced RAM for testing anyways didn't help Stress tested my GPU using Furmark Ran perfectly for minutes or so with no issues before I ended the test Nothing abnormal during those tests Ran Driver Verifier This produced interesting results I turned Verifier on for EVERY driver including Microsoft ones restarted the computer and it would chain crash right at the Windows loading screen About seconds after the BIOS screen was gone I'd get a hint of a blue screen but the PC would restart instantly for me to have a look at the error and I don't think these crashes were logged in the dump file I had to force into Safe mode turn off verifier and restart to get back on I have updated my video drivers to the latest version although this didn't seem to help either Computer Specs AMD x Ghz GB Ram Windows OEM Home Premium HD gb GPU Any advice on what I should do I kind of have a feeling it has to be corrupted drivers maybe something to do with my Mouse Keyboard Razer Lachesis Logitech G but I'm not sure Maybe after going through those logs you can figure out something a novice like me cannot Thankyou once again for any help you might be able to provide Jayrawr

I run windows 7 64-bit that was bought retail and put on by a friend who built my pc.
hardware approximately 4 years old
reformatted one of my HD's but never reinstalled the OS

intel(r) core(tm) i7-2600k @ 3.40 GHz
Nvidia geforce gtx 660ti
P8Z69-V GEN3 motherboard
lsp ultra 750 watt power supply

Was a custom build. Ever since I updated to the most recent graphics driver i have been experiencing BSOD crashes. I rolled back and it still happens and other forum suggested it was a motion joy driver but I removed it and I have still BSOD a record 7 times today and I don't know what else I can do.
I have run memtest in every mobo slot and each stick of ram and they are all good. Any suggestions/help would be greatly appreciated.

A:Constant ntoskrnl.exe crashes while gaming/watching videos

Don't see a edit button Dx but the driver that some other people say is causing the problem is MijXfilt.sys
I have deleted all its locations except a few that I find in regedit.exe when I search for it and it won't let me delete those ones. If that driver is indeed the problem I have no idea short of a reformat that would get rid of it.

Any ideas are greatly appreciated.

A:BSOD with Gigabyte G1 Gaming GTX970 in SLI while gaming

I've been having a very similar issue, I've only got the one Gigabyte 970 G1, and I've only really tested 2 games (AC Unity and Civ Beyond Earth) and while playing both after usually a few hours they'll freeze then I'll get a bsod. They're always Bug Check Code: 0x00000124 and all have the Crash Address: ntoskrnl.exe+4ae61c.

I've run windows memory diagnostic with no results, I've reseated my card, performed multiple clean driver installs, checked temperatures with no problems. I can't figure out what's causing it and this is the only similar problem I can find online. I really wish I could help but it seems we're in much the same boat

Hi Welcome to SF

Unfortunately the dumps you uploaded are all 0x124 errors which are hardware related

My initial thought is as this is new machine i would return it to place of purchase as something is obviously not right, if you wish to look into this then...

hello, Lazzi and welcome to the forums. I'll try to help you, but would you please upload the BSOD Posting Instructions here. I can't download the file you linked to without an account, plus we prefer them here. This will tell you how. Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) Posting Instructions

Screenshots and Files - Upload and Post in Seven Forums

Also, please open an elevated command prompt ( click start, type cmd in the search box, right click on the cmd entry and select run as administrator) in the black box that opens, copy/paste sfc /scannow. If you decide to type it, notice the space between the sfc and the /. It is a system file checker which will scan your system files and attempt to correct any missing or corrupt files. What we want are the results to say windows found no integrity violations. If it says files were found but could not be repaired, close the box, reboot and run it again, after opening the administrative command prompt. You may have to reboot and run it three times for it to repair all system files. If it can't repair them after 3 reboots, let us know.

And also give as detailed a description as you can about your hardware including the Case, PSU and CPU Cooler, and place them in your system specs. These are the instructions I usually give and maybe it will help you.

Please fill out your System Specs

   Information
Your System Specs will help us to help you, and doing it in this manner will make them available to all helpers in every post and keep us from hunting for them. We ask that you fill them out in as much detail as possible including Desktop or Laptop, Model number if it is an OEM computer and all components with the Manufacturer and Model number if possible.

If you will go to your last post and click the 'System Specs' in the bottom left of the post, you will find a link to update your system specs. Please fill those out in as much detail as possible, making sure to click save at the bottom of the page. If you would like to know what we would like, you can click 'My System Specs' at the bottom left of this post to see mine. If you do not know what your components are, this will help you accomplish this task. System Info - See Your System Specs

So over the past couple of weeks i've been getting alot of BSoD while gaming on my laptop, the most common being failure to reset display drivers.
It seems to be a driver problem but I've tried re-installing them and it hasn't had an effect.
I wasn't sure how to properly do a fresh install so if someone could recommend a way of doing a fresh install.
Also more recently my GPU hasn't been appearing on my device manager randomly, but after a reset it comes back.
I've attached the dump files following the guides, not sure if I have done it properly though.
Help would be appreciated soon as I don't want this ?1000 laptop to die

A:Various BSoD while gaming and some randomly while not gaming.

Yeah, you are having problems with the Nvidia driver.

Your msinfo.32 shows that as disabled though, that could just be at the time the report was created.

Where did you get that driver, it appears to be a beta driver from Nvidia.

Have you tried just using the driver from the manufacturer? They usually modify drivers for their hardware.

I can see it is an older driver but that may be your best option,

MSI Global GT70 0NC 64

How is your laptop cooling? Have you made sure the cooling vents are clean?

All that being said, here is a useful guide for Nvidia drivers,

NVIDIA Drivers - Avoid Problems

Try cleaning your laptop vents and doing a clean install of the driver from MSI to see if it makes a difference.

If you still want to do a clean install, this tutorial can help with that,

A:BSOD While gaming[moved from gaming]

Hello and welcome to TSF and thanks for the compliment.

I think this is your RAM. I need you to do a test...

Please download http://www.memtest.org// It's saved as an iso so you need to burn it to a cd and boot with it(yes it's legal). Make sure you run it for each stick, as in taking every stick but one then switching. I would recommend running them overnight(each).
You may want to dust your ram carefully!
Make sure you get no finger prints on the RAM as it may damage it.

A:BSOD while browsing/downloading torrents hal.dll+12a3b bsod/ntoskrnl

Hi,
Unfortunately the installation is counterfeit.
The Key is that of a Dell OEM computer - and the motherboard is a retail one by Asus.

The best course of action is to:Purchase a legitimate Windows 7 licence.
Format the HDD.
Reinstall Windows and activate.

I keep getting BSODs when I play games for a short while At first I thought when BSOD says ntoskrnl.exe games. BSOD BlueScreenView caused playing it was a bad installation of Windows BSOD when playing games. BlueScreenView says ntoskrnl.exe caused BSOD so I did a clean format full of my SSD and a clean install of Windows Ultimate x Installation failed quite a few times before finally succeeding Tried another copy of Windows same install failures I finally finished reinstalling Windows on my PC I suspected the RAM to be at fault so I ran MemTest and found a ton of errors Upon closer inspection of the BIOS settings I found that my board was clocking my ram in Auto mode at mhz instead of the factory mhz Corsair Vengeance LP DDR CAS on Asus Sabertooth Z I updated my BIOS to the latest as of this posting and I still have to manually set the memory frequencies for it to run at mhz Everything seemed fine for a few hours running prime I supposed my PC was fine now after that clean install of Windows but a few minutes into playing Battlefield I BSOD I am no pro at reading dump files and I was hoping someone could help me isolate the sources of my BSODs I've attached the minidump files for each BSOD below Thanks
