Preferred Solution: BSOD crashes after fresh install of 7 64bit install

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Maybe I should also mention, that I either pulled the drivers from there Hardware sites and if I did not, then I used Hp site. So, I have the latest intel chipset from intel, latest intel wifi from intel and latest nvidia drivers from nvidia website.

There are only like 4 or 5 things starting up. Few of them are nvida driver stuff, MS essientials, touchpad software & can't remember the other two.

This may be another issue, but I have noticed every since I have put Win7 on, while it boots, I get a pop in my speakers??

So far you have several causes of the BSOD's. First your Rt64win7.sys driver (your realtek driver) and your vsmraid.sys (the via raid driver for amd).

You need to re-install them as well as all the following drivers.

Code:
GVTDrv64.sys fffff880`095e7000 fffff880`095f1000 0x0000a000 0x44fd22ca 9/5/2006 03:10:02
gdrv.sys fffff880`099f4000 fffff880`099fd000 0x00009000 0x49b9d175 3/12/2009 23:22:29
spldr.sys fffff880`01410000 fffff880`01418000 0x00008000 0x4a0858bb 5/11/2009 12:56:27
After that if you keep having BSOD's we can narrow the focus.

So I recently did a clean install of Windows 7 Pro 64bit on an old computer that was Windows XP. The old computer had occasionally had BSOD. The new install of Windows 7 was fine to begin with but now I have had various BSOD over the last week. The computer is completely updated and all device drivers are up to date with the 64bit versions. I have also run MS ram tester which didnt throw anything up however will run it again later to double check.

I have attached the minidump zip file as per the forum instructions. The specs of the system I have also filled out in my bio bit.

Help you be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Load bios defaults, then memtest the ram for several loops. If everything checks ok, maybe your install media is damaged or corrupted.

The single dump file doesn't tell us much, but it does hint at network involvement.
As such I'd suggest updating your wired and wireless networking drivers.

Also, please update your webcam drivers to one that's more current (yours are from 2008)
Please remove the ISODrive program as it's from 2007.

I suggest starting all troubleshooting with the following diagnostic tests. They'll save you a lot of time and heartache if there is a hardware failure, and you'll have the disks on hand in case you need them in the future:

Quote:
H/W Diagnostics:
Please start by running these bootable hardware diagnostics:
http://www.carrona.org/memdiag.html (read the details at the link)
http://www.carrona.org/hddiag.html (read the details at the link)

Also, please run one of these free, independent online malware scans to ensure that your current protection hasn't been compromised: http://www.carrona.org/malware.html (read the details at the link)

Beyond that, should the BSOD's continue, please run Driver Verifier according to these instructions:

Quote:
Using Driver Verifier is an iffy proposition. Most times it'll crash and it'll tell you what the driver is. But sometimes it'll crash and won't tell you the driver. Other times it'll crash before you can log in to Windows. If you can't get to Safe Mode, then you'll have to resort to offline editing of the registry to disable Driver Verifier.

So, I'd suggest that you first backup your stuff and then make sure you've got access to another computer so you can contact us if problems arise. Then make a System Restore point (so you can restore the system using the Vista/Win7 Startup Repair feature).

Then, here's the procedure:
- Go to Start and type in "verifier" (without the quotes) and press Enter
- Select "Create custom settings (for code developers)" and click "Next"
- Select "Select individual settings from a full list" and click "Next"
- Select everything EXCEPT FOR "Low Resource Simulation" and click "Next"
NOTE: You can use Low Resource Simulation if you'd like. From my limited experimentation it makes the BSOD's come faster.
- Select "Select driver names from a list" and click "Next"
Then select all drivers NOT provided by Microsoft and click "Next"
- Select "Finish" on the next page.

Reboot the system and wait for it to crash to the Blue Screen. Continue to use your system normally, and if you know what causes the crash, do that repeatedly. The objective here is to get the system to crash because Driver Verifier is stressing the drivers out. If it doesn't crash for you, then let it run for at least 36 hours of continuous operation (an estimate on my part).

Reboot into Windows (after the crash) and turn off Driver Verifier by going back in and selecting "Delete existing settings" on the first page, then locate and zip up the memory dump file and upload it with your next post.

If you can't get into Windows because it crashes too soon, try it in Safe Mode.
If you can't get into Safe Mode, try using System Restore from your installation DVD to set the system back to the previous restore point that you created.

If that doesn't work, post back and we'll have to see about fixing the registry entry off-line:

Code:
Delete these registry keys (works in XP, Vista, Win7):
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management\VerifyDrivers
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management\VerifyDriverLevel
More info on this at this link: Using Driver Verifier to identify issues with Windows drivers for advanced users

I currently have Windows 7 Home Premium running on my desktop that is about 3 years old (give or take a month or two) and I have the 64bit version on my laptop (which is about a year old) and love both. However, I do most of my work on my desktop, and would like the comfort of 64bit.

I'm aware that you can't upgrade 32bit to 64bit, so I've been contemplating the option of saving all my important content and then doing a fresh install of the 64bit Windows 7 Professional, then putting my info back on the computer.

Is this realistic thinking? Or am I better off just living with 32bit until this computer craps out, then buy a new one eventually? I can only imagine with all the data and programs I have, that it seems like a bit of a long shot to somehow preserve all the data from the last 3 years, and reinstall all my programs and expect things to work without any problems.

When going from 32 to 64 you do need to do a clean install. You will have to re-install you apps not matter what. You may be able to import the data if its application has an import function

The "comfort" of 64 bit? How do you use your computer? any heavy usage apps?
We could use your system specs if we dont already have them

I just built a brand new computer and bought a new SSD 128gb so in windows its 119gigs. I installed windows 7 64bit and C: properties it says its using 42.9 gigs and if I select every folder in C: and click properties total is 16gb. I have show hidden folder on so nothing is hiding. Any Idea?

thanks

A:After Fresh Win7 64Bit Install Ssd is taking 42gigs

i believe windows claims ~35 gigs on fresh install

you must turn features off to reclaim space, such as the restore point feature, you will never get it down to 16 gigs though. maybe ~30 gigs

Ok, so I backed my important files up. I have all my program setups on my external hd. First off, will 32bit programs run on 64bit?
And should I do anything else than backup? Do I need to do anything before reinstalling?

yes 32-bit apps will work under x64, but not 32-bit drivers. Vista will install most (Windows Update).

I would ready the sound/video/Storage controller, and and any peripheral hardware drivers/software apps not part of the O/S for install

Insert your dell resource cd when after copying files from Vista DVD your are given option to install 3rd party drivers, navigate to the storage controller, then you will be returned to Install screen, switch back to Vista DVD.

Skill Level: Beginner

System: Dell Inspiron i14z Ultrabook, i3 Core

I first used program called WipeDrive to wipe the entire hard drive. It detected two hard drives, 32GB(I assume its SSD) and the 465GB(HDD?). Formatted both, extracted installation drives for Intel Smart Response Technology on a flash drive, Load the Drivers on Windows Installation Screen, and installed Windows 7 onto the 32GB Hard Drive.

When the installation is done, I open Disk Management, and format and partition the 465GB part of the Hard Drive. So now when I open 'My Computer', it shows two Hard Drives,

Local Disk (C: ) 32GB with 11.8 Free and
Second Drive (E: ) 465GB of 465GB free

Did I do this correctly? I just have a bad feeling I did something incorrect and it should still display 500GB instead of two separate drives... Thanks for your help in advance!

A:Fresh Install Windows 7 Home 64bit Hybrid SSD

Looks like you didn't install things correctly, if you wish to use the Intel Smart Response technology.

Chipset Software — Intel? Smart Response Technology User Guide

I haven't tried it. My own preference is to use a medium-sized SSD (120GB) for the OS and applications, and a spinner for data.

As you see, 32GB will work as an OS drive for Windows 7, but it's a bit small. You could probably continue with your current setup, as long as you made sure to install enough applications to the HD instead of the SSD. (Disabling hibernation would also free up space on the SSD equal to the amount of RAM in your notebook.)

Hello Quick recap Thursday I reformatted my pc due to long time issues that finally piled up Fail Install Win 7 64bit Fresh UpdateS Windows I installed windows home bit from my original legit windows upgrade disc I got when windows was released I've used this disc for this before and worked fine The install went smooth and windows activation worked perfectly right when I booted up I was able to activate no problem I installed my drivers and enabled automatic updates Windows went through a series of - updates installing at a time then it had one big spurt of about updates All were installing fine but a few were failing and kept re trying during the next update Finally I'm at a point now where the Windows UpdateS Fail Fresh Win 7 64bit Install same updates keep failing I've tried running Fix it SFC Scan shows no problems System update readiness tool installs and finishes and still The updates fail Attached is the CBS folder Error Windows UpdateS Fail Fresh Win 7 64bit Install s found Code E Code Windows UpdateS Fail Fresh Win 7 64bit Install B Code The Failing updates are KB KB KB KB KB KB KB KB KB I've read online someone suggested to reformat again turn off automatic updates install the Service Pack from the iso from microsofts website then manually install updates like or so at a time until you're all caught up Seems like a hassle but I'm willing to do this if this means it will solve my issue so I'm trying to upload the cbs zip folder and my zip is mb when I try to upload it just times out and gives me a error is there a way I can lower this file size by deleting some of its contents it says the zip limit is only mb but my file is over times that Edit So I tried to make a zip of just the cbs text file inside the cbs folder but that file is still mb when I open the cbs text file thinking I could select half of it and make two separate zip files from two separate text files the problem is this text file is so massive its got to be like over pages long when I drag to select only half of it to copy and paste to a new file I will be here for hours just spinning my mouse wheel hmm Edit okay I think I got it I told WinRAR to split to maximum file size and I think it worked CBS rar

Hi guys,

I recently purchased a new internal Samsung SSD 850 EVO (my first SSD ever!) and another internal Hitachi 1TB as a backup drive for my ASUS N73SV laptop.

The HDD's are recognized by the latop and are all showing, my issue is I can't get the laptop to boot from CD so I can install Windows. I've tried all the options and have some knowledge with computers but I'm no expert.

Here are the rest of my BIOS settings if anyone is kind enough to take a look.

Thank you.

Seriously what the hell? I bought and clean installed my Windows 7 just two days ago. Since then windows update as downloading updates and yesterday evening I switched off the computer and it installed them all during shutdown. Today it was configuring updates for more then 5 minutes (no percentage changing) and then I just briefly saw "reverting changes" and my event log / administrative events is now flooded with Windows update client messages like "
Installation Failure: Windows failed to install the following update with error 0x800705b4: Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB976662)."
just now when I write this there is a popup "restart your computer to finish installing important updates" but there are no new messages in eventlog so I wonder what was installed (if anything) I will now restart and see...

A:Fresh windows home premium 64bit install, important drivers are gone!

I'd go to Samsung support site with your good PC and locate the Ethernet driver for your particular model. Get it on a USB stick and install it to the PC with the driver problems.

I wouldn't be in a panic just because I had some yellow exclamation points in Device Manager. Instead, I'd investigate what expected functionality is missing.

Then possibly go back to Samsung and look for drivers to fix the missing functionality.

I just finished building a new computer and after I install my graphics card (560 ti from evga) driver I cannot get windows to fully load. It loads to the login screen where I can successfully log in and then starts to load windows until the screen goes black. I have tried 3 different nvidia drivers and have done a second clean install of windows all having the same problem. Initially it was just flickering saying the driver has failed and recovered, but even that does not happen anymore. I have attached the minidump of the 2 most recent crashes (only crashes since last install). All help is appreciated.

I tried to run the system health report, nothing would come up when I follow the sticky'd threads instructions (I am forced into safe mode on the computer).

Caused by your video driver. I would re-install newest using this method.
When upgrading your graphic driver you MUST remove all traces of the current driver. In order to do that we recommend using Guru3D - Driver Sweeper
Phyxion.net - Driver Sweeper

When it is removed then download and install the fresh copy.

This was NOT an illegal install of Vista. I was using the 30 day trial version of Vista to see if I liked it and I was planning on buying a CD key before the trial period expired. This is perfectly legal (an anti-piracy measure, in fact), and although it is now irrelevant I do not appreciate having my thread deleted for it.

Hi just did a brand new clean install of Windows XP SP Home on an old P system I do know about Windows XP support ending crashes XP my fresh install rkill windows but this computer needs Windows XP to run a specific piece of hardware which isn't supported by later versions of Windows The system has only been running two days almost all of which was for the setup during which time I went on the web only to download known and trusted applications from reputable sites The first thing I installed on it was Avast and Malwarebytes before I downloaded anything else Other apps installed included OpenOffice GIMP Inkscape Firefox all obtained directly from the original publishers' websites All browsing peformed in order to do this was done in the latest version of Firefox So this should be a very clean system One of the final steps of the setup was to perform FULL system test scans of the system using my preferred legion of anti-malware software This was MalWareBytles AVAST COMODO Cleaning Essentials Spybot Search and Destroy They all reported the system as clean I then downloaded rkill directly from bleepingcomputer com scanned it for malware before running it rkill crashes my fresh windows XP install then when it passed as clean I executed it just to test rkill crashes my fresh windows XP install that it was working As soon as rkill opened the command line window and started shutting down services I got a BSOD with the same number x F the BSOD also said something about how a process or thread crucial to system operation has unexpectedly exited or terminated Upon rebooting the system I get the standard windows alert rkill crashes my fresh windows XP install The system has recovered from a serious failure pointing to the product Product This apparently is my Nvideo GeForce LE AGP graphics card It's an older card but I have installed it with the absolute latest drivers available downloaded directly from the manufacturer's site and scanned for malware prior to installation so almost certainly clean Obviously there is no log file I can provide because rkill is not finishing its job before the BSOD and system reset happens However I have ran rkill several times with a repeatable and immediate BSOD showing the same product number I have also tried downloading and running the versions of rkill that are re-named These also produce the same BSOD The BSOD crash even occurs in SAFE MODE The system is very stable otherwise and I have not gotten crashes from anything else So what I have here is a verly likely clean newly set up system that crashes hard whenever rkill is executed and starts to shut off services It seems like rkill is not compatible with the Nvidia GeForce LE graphics card driver I don't think this is a malware issue Could there be a bug in the Nvidia card driver or even in rkill itself which causes this problem To whom can I report this to help work on a solution Thanks

Hi guys,

Slight problem I'm having with Vista Ultimate x64. After a fresh install (including format), Windows Update refuses to cooperate. Specifically, it either hangs (downloading of updates either stops at 0% indefinitely, or progresses a bit, then hangs) or crashes (trustedinstaller.exe experiences a crash). I've tried deselecting every update except one to see if it's a certain one that's causing the problem (and further to this, tried this method with different updates), with no joy.

After a format or two, the problem's still around.

System specs:

Core 2 Duo E6850 (3GHz)
4GB DDR2
EVGA e-GeForce 8800GTX video card
Sound Blaster X-Fi XtremeGamer sound card
Vista Ultimate x64, SP1

Really irritating problem - - any and all help is certainly appreciated

A:Fresh Install, lots of problems, hangs/crashes

Hello NU Star, welcome to Seven Forums!

If you want to try another clean install, disconnect everything, all HDDs, USB peripherals, leave only a single monitor and the mouse & k/b all except the SSD and connect that to the #1 SATA port of the mobo.

Use diskpart to do a complete wipe of the SSD, then after the install finishes reconnect things back one at a time with plenty of restarts to let Windows absorb the changes to the system.

Be sure to post back with any further questions you may have and to keep us informed.

After you have copied out or made back-ups of the data you need to save to external media, use Step One of this tutorial at the link below to do a wipe (secure erase) to the entire Hard Disk Drive / Solid State Drive. Then if you do not want to create the new Windows 7 "System Reserved" partition use the outline in Step Two #2 to create, format and mark Active a single 100GB partition to do the installation to.
If you do want to create the "System Reserved" partition use the outline in Step Two #3 to create, format and mark Active the System Reserved partition and then create and format the 100GB partition to do the installation to.
Either way, running the "clean all" then creating and formatting the partition(s) using diskpart will get you the best possible space to do a clean install of Windows 7 to; you can always extend the Windows partition to include the remaining unallocated space on the HDD / SSD or create additional partitions after the installation completes if you choose.

Fresh install of 8.1 Preview on HP Core Duo with new MSI Radeon 6570 1GB card.
Driver bails on any/all/each browser used.
Got about 5 errors in 30 seconds - no BSOD's, just the quick blue artifacting, display freeze, windows error message "Display Driver has stopped responding and has successfully recovered".

Anyone know a sure fix for this? Should I adjust timing parameters in the Windows Registry?

I had this same issue on Win 7 Ultimate x64 except there about half the time BSOD's would occur.

Card passes OCCT with flying colors.

A:Radeon 6570 driver crashes: fresh 8.1 install

I THINK I may have a solution for this in case anyone comes across this searching.
the issue has to do with idle clock speed defaults of the graphics card. The problem is most common on non-stressing requests where the card is having to go from idle to some appropriate speed in a very brief time, controlled by a default setting in the windows registry [the latency for the display driver to respond]. TechNet posters suggested bumping up that value but what I'm trying instead is increasing the CoreClock and MemoryClock idle values. we shall see. This has been a problem since Windows 7 and once I got the search terminology right I found a plethora of posts on the topic

am testing now. after a day or two with no more errors I'll report back.

A:Fresh install on Fresh SSD of 8.1, restarts into BSOD

Hi MitchellTyner,

First, I looked up your motherboard and it does not formally support any OS beyond Windows 7 so that could be an issue right off the bat; however, if you are running the latest BIOS, you could try and set your BIOS to default values and try that clean install without the 7870 first. Then, if it works, you could try installing the 7870 thereafter. BTW, good luck in finding all the correct drivers for your older hardware as well.

Hi all I can't be crashes BSODs Random on install applications a Win7 fresh and more specific as far as Random BSODs and applications crashes on a fresh Win7 install the title is concerned for the simple reason that I can't get my PC to boot thus can't upload dump files and give error number as suggested I'll try nevertheless describe the symptoms as acurately as possible and recover dump files by connecting the disk to another computer So there we go a few days ago I installed Win Home Premium on a brand new platform The config is the following CPU FX- MB Asus M A L USB Mem OCZ MB MHz Reaper LV CL x PSU Zalman -ST PSU specs here Zalman leading the world of Quiet Computing Solutions Gfx Evga Gtx Ti HDD GB Samsung HD HJ Sound On-board Realtek LAN On-board Realtek All good so far apart from the fact that soon after the fresh install I got the st BSOD I updated the MB Bios as the latest one was supposed to improve stability No change random BSODs again In the meantime I installed ATIH and having read numerous posts about its bugginess and faulty drivers I thought I had found the culprit as having run the quot Who crashed quot app it pointed me to some ATIH driver namely tdrpman sys I uninstalled ATIH ran their cleanup utility but there were still residues on my computer So I decided to reformat the freshly installed system this time without ATIH quot Normal quot format was not sufficient I had to do a quot full quot format from command line to be able to start reinstalling windows One weird thing though after finishing the format I pressed enter to confirm that I don't want to name the volume at that point and immediately after that I got blue screen computer rebooted but I could proceed with Windows installation I installed all the Windows Update patches chipset LAN audio and video drivers MSE and a couple of programmes It was ok for some time day maybe until I got another BSOD I started thinking this could be hardware related so I checked memories with memtest - hours test showed no errors Checking HDD neither HDD Scan reported no bad sectors CPU and mems tested again with OCCT without any issues or crashes Temperatures were a little to high maybe but during normal operation they never go above - Disks around max and GPU - App crashes happen without any visible pattern Nvidia drivers once only though skype firefox IE windows explorer recently it crashed starcraft and as a result install files got corrupted which couldn't be repaired by blizzard tool Same happend to files already on the hard drive when I tried to open some installs I had downloaded previously they would report that they were corrupted - this is the case of Avira which I had to download or times thinking this could be MSE issue and wanting to try another AV Finally after reading some posts here I started driver verifier chose standard mode and set it to check all the drivers on the computer It prompted me to reboot in order to save the changes and after the reboot Windows wouldn't even get to the logon screen but BSOD just before It wouldn't even boot into safe mode giving a message about RPC not being available the screen would stay black with safe mode headers in the corners and that's it So there it is sorry not to be able to attach dumps at this point but as you've just read above at this point I'm not able to boot the PC Hopefully you can already come up with some ideas as I've totally ran out of them Thanks for sharing your knowledge and sorry for posting in a wrong section could I ask a mod please to move it to the appropriate section Thanks

A:Random BSODs and applications crashes on a fresh Win7 install

You mentioned in your third paragraph that you had a BSOD after you had booted from the Win install DVD and were formatting the hard drive. BSODs at this stage mean you have either a hardware problem or some unfortunate incompatibility between Windows and your hardware. It also sounds like you have an intermittent problem and those are a pain to diagnose.

At this point, it smells like a bad hard drive given that you had a BSOD after formatting the drive and have had file corruption since then. It's hard--but not impossible--to get file corruption involving files already on the disk from other causes.

Do you have a spare hard drive you can test with? If not, can you disconnect the HD and boot from a Linux Live CD (or bootable USB) and run the computer for a few days as a test? If Linux doesn't have a kernel panic (Linux equivalent of a BSOD) during a few days of testing, you can be somewhat confident that the rest of your hardware is OK.

The second thing I'd suspect after the HDD is your power supply.

It wouldn't hurt to check your PSU voltages and clock speed settings in the BIOS.

Hi all,

I'm getting pretty desperate... I have a new Sony Vaio laptop on which I installed a clean Windows and all original drivers. As I kept getting BSODs I decided to do a fresh install, but now I get BSODs even without any drivers installed.

Could anyone check this minidump to try and find out what is causing this? Don't feel like tossing out a brand new laptop...

Thanks a bunch!

Hi guys and gals,

I've been breaking my head above this issue for quite a few days now and spent some hours behind our favourite search engine to no avail.

Basically I've bought a Tyan Thunder K7X Pro Dual Athlon MP mobo with 2x CPU and 3GB RAM off Ebay and spent the pas few days trying to install XP on this piece of $%$%^.

Fresh installs of XP BSOD with the codes 0x0000007B 0xF78DA524 0xC0000034.

I have tried several known working IDE harddisks and quite a few SCSI ones too, powered by an Adaptec 2940 adapter. All of them BSOD the same way. All Google references point to SATA problems... I have none, only the onboard IDE adapters.

My IDE disks are primary master and my IDE DVD-ROM is secondary master. I have no PCI/AGP cards in my system.

Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Hi Casanova89 and Welcome to the Forum.

STOP 0x0000004E: PFN_LIST_CORRUPT
Usual causes: Device driver, ?memory

Your latest dump file indicates memory corruption as the probable cause which usually indicates out of date Drivers or Bad Memory.
Old and incompatible drivers can and do cause issues with Windows 7, often giving false error codes.

As a Priority:

ASACPI.sys Mon Mar 28 03:30:36 2005 This driver is notorious for causing BSOD's. There is an update here: Asus ATK0110 driver. Look under the sub-heading: Utilities. Approx. 12th one down.

Driver Install - Manual method
Download the driver and extract it to a folder
Open the Device Manager
Right click the device you wish to change the drivers for. You can select Properties > Driver > Driver Details to check you have the right device.
Choose Update Driver Software.
Select Browse My Computer For Driver Software.
Select Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer.
Select Have disk...
Select Browse..
Navigate to the extracted folder and double click on the .inf file
Hit OK, then Next and the driver(s) will then begin to install.

Hi all,

Re-installed Windows 7 ultimate x64 the other day and since then I've had 10 BSOD over the last 5 days. The latest 2x (attachment included) happened this morning after I turned the PC on (before I could do anything).
I don't really have anything loading on start-up either and the BSOD's seem to be random too.
Checked Computer Management and all drivers seem installed.

if you want to see the other BSOD minidumps, just let me know and I can upload them too.

Regards,

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say it's your logitech webcam.
All the drivers for it are horribly dated (pre windows 7 by date alone)
I would see if there are some updated drivers/software available for the model you have via logitech's website.
Or, remove it.

Hi,

I had the same problem that others have had with the new nVidia driver causing a BSOD but mine seem to be a little worse off. After uninstalling the nVidia driver the defult windows drivers caused my computer to just black screen after boot. I would see the windows 7 load screen but never the login screen (just black w/ no mouse). So I decided to fresh install by formatting and installing.

After fresh install the same problem happens upon first true boot I see the black screen only. After about 10-30 seconds the BSOD will appear saying it is there due to video card driver timeout. I dont know what i should try next since I am on my 3rd fresh install with the same problem.

I installed XP again and all is fine with the most up to date video driver as well.

Any ideas?

A:BSOD after fresh install

Another update, I was wrong in saying that windows 7 ever fully installed, it will go to a black screen now before instalation is complete...

I was instructed by the PC shop to re-install windows 7 after they were unable to find any hardware problems which were causing my system to BSOD or randomly reboot.

Today I did a fresh install of Windows 7 Pro 64-bit, Office 2010 and install all important security updates. Within hrs of completing the installation my system has BSOD twice, for different reasons each time.

I would like some ammunition before heading back to the PC shop.

Any help in resolving this would be great.

Uploading dump collection for both crashes.

Also uploaded windows debug output.

Thanks

There is a high probability that your CPU is defective, are you overlocking?
Dumps directly blame a hardware fault in your CPU, i would recommend that you replace it
Stop 0x124 - what it means and what to try

   Information
Go to your motherboard's website and check your version of your BIOS. See if there are any problems you are having that are solved by a a later version. I do not often recommend flashing the BIOS because there is a risk involved. If there is problem addressed by a BIOS that applies to your computer, consider flashing your BIOS to the latest version. If you choose to do this, flash you BIOS outside of Windows.

Run Prime 95 again to test your CPU and your ram. Carefully the instructions in this tutorial: CPU - Stress Test with Prime95. Run 3 separate tests, one on each of the settings (Blend, Small FFTs, Large FFTs). Post back with your results.

Boot into safe mode (or boot from win 7dvd) and find DMP files to upload to us.

To enable us to assist you with your computer's BSOD symptoms, upload the contents of your "\Windows\Minidump" folder.

The procedure:

* Copy the contents of \Windows\Minidump to another (temporary) location somewhere on your machine.
* Zip up the copy.
* Attach the ZIP archive to your post using the "paperclip" (file attachments) button.

To ensure minidumps are enabled:

Go to Start, in the Search Box type: sysdm.cpl, press Enter.
Under the Advanced tab, click on the Startup and Recovery Settings... button.
Ensure that Automatically restart is unchecked.
Under the Write Debugging Information header select Small memory dump (256 kB) in the dropdown box (the 256kb varies).
Ensure that the Small Dump Directory is listed as %systemroot%\Minidump.
OK your way out.
Reboot if changes have been made.

Hello zyon1989,The BlueScreenView report is varied and can implicate many causes.Memtest86: I tested my 2 rams separately both in the 2 slots they were located, all passed up to 9 tests without any errorsI hope you meant "9 passes" as 9 tests aren't even one pass. For moderate confidence in the memory, I would recommend running the test for 12 hours (overnight). There should be no errors reported.Shckdsk: in step 4 it replaced 2 files: replaced bad clusters in file ...Let's have a look at that Check Disk report:In the search box type "Event" and click on "Event Viewer" in top column.Click on "Windows Logs" -->"Application." Click the "Source" tab ( top, right) to alphabetize that column.Arrow down to "Winlogon" and select the most recent Check Disk report.Double click on it and select the "Copy" button. This will copy the report to the clipboard.Copy this into your next post.To help us get a better look at your computer hardware, please follow the instructions below to "Publish a Snapshot" of your system using Speccy.http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic323892.html/page__p__1797792#entry1797792Below is for those who cannot get online:Please take caution when attaching a text file to your post if you cannot copy/paste the link, per above instructions. My PC has been down for a while now and I've gotten the chance to fix it again. It broke when the hard drive became corrupted and kept on giving BSODs (don't remember the error code for those times). I got a new hard drive and installed it fine but I get BSODs about halfway through an install of windows 7 or 8 (I've tried both incase it was a disc problem) The error I get is a ntfs.sys one and the rest of the error screen is attached,

A:BSOD on Fresh Install

This is a BSOD related to the file system (NTFS) on the hard drive.
I'd suggest running these free, bootable hardware diagnostics:  http://www.carrona.org/initdiag.html
Please start with the hard drive diagnostics.

I am installing Windows XP on my machine after the old hard drive crashed Have a brand new hard drive nothing on it I think see below for explanation My system was overheating and I installed a new BSOD install during fresh fan and after the first boot after installing the new fan the computer would reset itself when attempting to start Windows I was only able to get it to run in fail-safe settings in the BIOS This made makes no BSOD during fresh install sense to me as it was running fine before that It runs fine with proper voltage settings from a bootable Knoppix CD I can access the internet use X-windows without a hitch I lived with the voltage issue for a bit before the hard drive died it was years old and had been swapping almost constantly due to low RAM There were no other issues with the computer except it would not boot with proper voltage settings I have a brand new GB PATA WD drive and when I went to install XP Home it got to the point where it says Setup is now starting Windows and then crashed to a BSOD with the error message quot DRIVER IRQL NOT LESS OR EQUAL quot I tried to run the install in fail-safe and again it still had no issue I was able to get to the part where it asks if I want to install repair or quit so I would possibly be able to install if I were to choose to live with that issue Restarted tried proper settings in the BIOS double checked the jumper on the mbd Chaintech CT- NJL and it's correct this time it gave me an error that said quot An attempt was made to write to read only memory STOP x BE quot with the file sbp port sys listed at the bottom Research shows this to be an IEEE controller file yet there is no IEEE port on the mbd Most of the information I found about this error refers to issues with an existing installation of Windows I have not yet done that However there is one oddity the computer no longer boots to 'INVALID SYSTEM DISK' if I don't have a bootable CD in it now just attempts to boot from CD then stops and doesn't do anything at all The hard drive is recognized by the BIOS it does not share the Primary IDE controller with any other hardware I don't know what other information to include here as I am completely and utterly confused by this Any help would be appreciated If any information I have found is erroneous please let me know as well

Just did a fresh install a couple days ago, and still getting multiple BSOD`s. I have basicly just let the rig sit there with the power on to see if it was stable. It was not....

I have not installed any drivers or anything myself. Just webbrowsers, spotify and fan control software from ASrock

I sure hope someone is able to understand what is going on :)

My hardware is a few years old, but have not been acting up like this before.
Memtest passes with no faults. Must be a windows 10 thing

We can't get as much information as we'd like to from that text file. The above link will provide us with information about your system and the minidumps themselves.

The only thing that I can see is that the problem was caused by nvlddmkm.sys, but can't yet see if it is actually the problem of if it was something else.

First off I think it's my graphic card drivers that have been giving me problems so in a another BSOD for and install now Fresh one I while get a fresh install I hoped to fix that but I had one BSOD last night I would be thankful if someone could have a quick look at my dumps It says I'm BSOD for a while now Fresh install and I get another one not using a virus program in the file but I am using Microsoft Security Essentials and MalwareBytes Installed my Drivers in Driver Genius Operating System bit Windows Retail Using a Radeon Hd Who Crashed gave me this This was probably caused by the following module ntoskrnl exe nt x Bugcheck code x B xC xFFFFF A xFFFFF FE A x Error SYSTEM SERVICE EXCEPTION file path C Windows system ntoskrnl exe product Microsoft Windows Operating System company Microsoft Corporation description NT Kernel amp System Bug check description This indicates that an exception happened BSOD for a while now Fresh install and I get another one while executing a routine that transitions from non-privileged code to privileged code This appears to be a typical software driver bug and is not likely to be caused by a hardware problem The crash took place in the Windows kernel Possibly this problem is caused by another driver which cannot be identified at this time

A:BSOD for a while now Fresh install and I get another one

Just had another BSOD whilst watching a Video on my pc.

On Sat 08/10/2011 13:06:44 GMT your computer crashed
crash dump file: C:\Windows\Minidump\100811-36613-01.dmp
uptime: 00:33:28
This was probably caused by the following module: ntoskrnl.exe (nt+0x7CC40)
Bugcheck code: 0x1A (0x41287, 0x0, 0x0, 0x0)
Error: MEMORY_MANAGEMENT
file path: C:\Windows\system32\ntoskrnl.exe
product: Microsoft? Windows? Operating System
company: Microsoft Corporation
description: NT Kernel & System
Bug check description: This indicates that a severe memory management error occurred.
This might be a case of memory corruption. More often memory corruption happens because of software errors in buggy drivers, not because of faulty RAM modules.
The crash took place in the Windows kernel. Possibly this problem is caused by another driver which cannot be identified at this time.

I installed an SSD and put a new copy of win 7 pro on it, within a day it crashed. I rarely ever see the BSOD, I usually see the windows has recovered from an unexpected error screen.

The new installation only has a few application installed, mostly just window updates, microsoft security essentials, steam.

I ran memtest and didnt come up with any errors.

Hi,

I have a Lenovo Windows 7 64bit Computer where I'm getting a BSOD. I've attached the file if someone can help me determine what is causing the crash. I uninstalled and reinstalled the software but I'm wondering if it has something to do with QuickBooks - I see there are error messages in the event log about menu itmes missing.

Hi, I reformatted and installed a fresh copy of Win7 Pro x64 on my PC because it was having BSOD issues and then reinstalled my chipset, network, and audio drivers. Not long after installing only those things I experienced another BSOD. I'm not sure what caused it but I'm 100% sure its not my RAM or my processors. Ive run Memtest 86+ multiple times for over 7 passes as well as a stress test on my CPU which ran for 6 hours with no problems. The problem that came up was a 7f. Here is the dump and thank you for your time!

Windows 7 x64 Ultimate, not OEM. Hardware is 8 months old, OS was freshly reinstalled 3 days ago. Based on the most recent dump this appears to be related to my Linksys WMP54gs and a possible incompatibility with Windows 7. I have already RMA'd my RAM and the new modules passed a mem test.
The OS drive passed a diagnostic test as well.
The blue screens tend to occur when browsing the internet. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks

Actually two of these point to your broadcom wireless driver bcmwi664.sys. I would reinstall that and see how it goes. There is a hardware problem of some sort but until you fix the wifi driver we cant tell for sure

hi all, i was getting a random bsod prior to a clean install and it is still here.
steps
ran memtest on each stick of rm for 4 passes with no errors.
updated all drivers
latest bios installed

attached are the files listed on the bsod posting instructions these are prior to driver verifier running.

i will update with the driver verified dump files after the next bsod.

A:bsod after fresh install

One crash blames video driver. Other than that I don't see anything that sticks up. All your drivers appear up to date.

I will wait to see if verifier catches anything.

In the meantime, please re-run memtest. This time let it run on all sticks for 7-8 passes
Memtest86 - Run for 7-8 passes - RAM - Test with Memtest86+ - Windows 7 Forums

Also run Prime95
Prime95 - Run all three tests for 3-4 hours each or until fail - http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials...t-prime95.html

Do this after running verifier; not while it is running.

I just installed a new SSD yesterday. I did a fresh install of windows and formatted my previous hard drive to use as a storage drive.

It worked fine all day without an error. I started her up tonight and got a PFN_LIST_ERROR BSOD. I understand that installing a new SSD can have issues, so I want to pinpoint what this issue is so that I can nip it in the bud now and not have to worry about it later.

Attatched are the files requested, as well as the original dump.

A:BSOD new SSD fresh install

Hi -

The system crashed just 2 seconds after boot-up.

From the partition info, it appears to me that both the 120 GB OCZ-AGILITY3 SSD and the 1 TB ST31000524AS SATA HDD have Windows OS installed.

Disconnect the HDD; reinstall Windows 7 onto the SSD.

Hello fellow PC users

I recently installed Windows 8.1 Pro x64 and the correct up to date drivers for my hardware. I experience a BSOD, it doesn't go into the BSOD right away but after 15-30 minutes of use I get the BSOD with the "page fault in nonpaged area" message.

I have attached my debugfiles and hope that someone much brighter than me in deciphering these files can lend me a hand at fixing this issue.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Found out it was my new Panda Cloud Free Antivirus. I deleted the POS and installed something else, now no more BSODs.

A:BSOD on fresh Win 8.1 Pro x64 install

Hi DamZe & Welcome to the forums ^_^,

Thanks for posting back the solution ^_^.

If you uninstalled the product directly then please make sure that you run this **TOOL** so that the leftover files are deleted of the Panda Cloud AV.

Ok

Where to start

1-SPTD.SYS. used in alcohol/daemon tools is hideous for BSOD's

ASACPI.sys Sun Mar 27 22:30:36 2005

Quote:
The 2005 version of this driver is a known BSOD cause.
Please visit this link: ASUSTeK Computer Inc.-Support- download_item_mkt
Scroll down to the Utilities category, then scroll down to the "ATK0110 driver for WindowsXP/Vista/Windows 7 32&64-bit " (it's about the 8th item down).
Download and install it.
Go to C:\Windows\System32\drivers to check and make sure that the ASACPI.sys file is date stamped from 2009 or 2010 (NOT 2005).

2-Your VB compiler.

This is what caused this crash.

3-AV and firewall. We recommend Microsoft Security Essentials and win 7

4-Memory

Just to be sure I would run memtestDownload a copy of Memtest86 and burn the ISO to a CD using Iso Recorder or another ISO burning program. Boot from the CD, and leave it running for at least 5 or 6 passes.
Just remember, any time Memtest reports errors, it can be either bad RAM or a bad motherboard slot. Test the sticks individually, and if you find a good one, test it in all slots.

Ken

hi,

I installed win 8.1 pro and i got kernel_security_check_faulire eror. Now every time after i do any operation my computer restarts. I was getting those bsod problems in win 7 ultimate too but wanted to put 8.1 before i resolve problem.

thx for help in advance

A:BSOD-fresh install win 8.1 pro....

If you had BSOD problems in Win7 and now you have them in 8.1, a hardware problem is likely.
Please start with these free diagnostics: Hardware Diagnostics

Additionally, this system is old enough that it may not be capable of running Win8.1. You may be better off going back to Win7 and troubleshooting from there (post over at Windows 7 Help Forums )

Your BIOS dates from 2009. Please check at the manufacturer's website to see if there are any BIOS updates available for your system. Also check the readme file to see if they apply to the problems that you are having. Please be advised that flashing the BIOS is a very unforgiving process - and one mistake can physically damage your motherboard. If possible, use the "inside Windows" flash mechanism (if your OEM provides one).

Only 7 Windows Updates installed. Most systems have 60 to 90 or more. Please visit Windows Update and get ALL available updates (it may take several trips to get them all).

Don't worry about the specific number, it's just important that you have checked and installed any updates that were available.

The lone dump file is corrupted. Please do this:

Upload Dump Files:
NOTE: If using a disk cleaning utility, please stop using it while we are troubleshooting your issues.
Please go to C:\Windows\Minidump and zip up the contents of the folder. Then upload/attach the .zip file with your next post.
Left click on the first minidump file.
Hold down the "Shift" key and left click on the last minidump file.
Right click on the blue highlighted area and select "Send to"
Select "Compressed (zipped) folder" and note where the folder is saved.
Upload that .zip file with your next post.

If you have issues with "Access Denied" errors, try copying the files to your desktop and zipping them up from there. If it still won't let you zip them up, post back for further advice.

If you don't have anything in that folder, please check in C:\Windows for a file named MEMORY.DMP. If you find it, zip it up and upload it to a free file hosting service. Then post the link to it in your topic so that we can download it.

Also, search your entire hard drive for files ending in .dmp, .mdmp, and .hdmp. Zip up any that you find and upload them with your next post.

Then, follow the directions here to set your system for Minidumps (much smaller than the MEMORY.DMP file): Set MiniDumpMore info on dump file options here: Overview of memory dump file options for Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows Server 2003, Windows Vista, Windows Server 2008, Windows 7, and Windows Server 2008 R2

I recently installed Windows 7 Ultimate 64 Bit onto a partition on my harddrive. I didn't do a clean install due to needing a few things from a beta install of Windows 7 32 bit on another partition.

Currently, the computer runs fine, other than when running flash (through youtube) or bitlord it seems to get the bsod. I'm currently only using firefox with the newest flash plugins installed due to no 64 bit support yet. I've only installed the drivers that windows 7 has given me along with:

Adobe Creative Suite
Aim 7
K-Lite Codec
Magic Disc
Magic Iso Maker
Microsoft Office Enterprise
Mozilla Firefox
VLC Media Player

My friend has an HP Media Center PC. It had Vista x86 installed when he bought it about 2-3 years ago. It ran fine for a long time but recently began getting the BSOD randomly. He thought it may have been too many antivirus programs along with poor maintenance of it. So he bought Windows7, but doesn't know enough about computers to do it himself so he had me do it. I installed Win7 x86 and installed TrendMicro antivirus, which he also has on his laptop, so he wanted that on his desktop as well. I also installed Office 2003 and a few other progs (firefox, adobe reader, flash.. basic stuff). It still randomly goes to BSOD. I followed your instructions, and am posting the zip file you request.

A:BSOD on fresh install

The volume dirty flag is set on the hard disk.
Try this:

Quote:

CHKDSK /R /F:
Run CHKDSK /R /F from an elevated (Run as adminstrator) Command Prompt. Please do this for each hard drive on your system.
When it tells you it can't do it right now - and asks you if you'd like to do it at the next reboot - answer Y (for Yes) and press Enter. Then reboot and let the test run. It may take a while for it to run, but keep an occasional eye on it to see if it generates any errors. See "CHKDSK LogFile" below in order to check the results of the test.

Elevated Command Prompt:
Go to Start and type in "cmd.exe" (without the quotes)
At the top of the Search Box, right click on Cmd.exe and select "Run as administrator"

CHKDSK LogFile:
Go to Start and type in "eventvwr.msc" (without the quotes) and press Enter
Expand the Windows logs heading, then select the Application log file entry.
Double click on the Source column header.
Scroll down the list until you find the Chkdsk entry (wininit for Win7) (winlogon for XP).
Copy/paste the results into your next post.

Then run another copy of the perfmon report to see if it's still mentioned there.
If so, then try this:

Quote:

H/W Diagnostics:
Please start by running these bootable hardware diagnostics:
http://www.carrona.org/memdiag.html (read the details at the link)
http://www.carrona.org/hddiag.html (read the details at the link)

Also, please run one of these free, independent online malware scans to ensure that your current protection hasn't been compromised: http://www.carrona.org/malware.html (read the details at the link)

There are a couple of Windows Updates missing from your system, please visit Windows Update and get all the updates available for your system.

Please update your modem drivers and your network drivers (the wired one's built into your system's nVidia nForce chipset) as they are dated from 2008

9 memory dumps
6 different BSOD error codes, blaming at least 4 different causes
This is most likely a hardware problem (so running the diagnostics above is essential).

One of the memory dump files blames Vsapint.sys - a driver file from company Trend Micro Inc. Please do the following:

Quote:

Anti-Virus Removal:
Please do the following:
- download a free antivirus for testing purposes: http://www.carrona.org/freeav.html
- uninstall the Trend Micro from your system (you can reinstall it, if so desired, when we're done troubleshooting)
- remove any remnants of Trend Micro using this free tool: http://esupport.trendmicro.com/1/How...n-my-comp.aspx
- IMMEDIATELY install and update the free antivirus
- check to see if this fixes the BSOD's

Seems like you did everything else try and run diagnostics on the HDD Download the ISO image for SEAtools for DOS and burn the image with IMGBurn in my signature and boot off of the newly created CD and run the Quick and the Advanced tests on the drive. You can also download the ISO Image for Memtest in my signature and burn the image to CD using IMGBurn and boot off of the that CD with one stick of RAM in at a time and run the test on each stick of RAM separately. If all comes up clean then you can also try using a different PSU.

Hello all. I was experiencing random BSOD occurrences so I decided to do a fresh install of Windows 7 Pro in hopes of alleviating this wicked disease. Plus, I wanted to put in a new SSD so thought now is the time. Well after returning home this morning from work I fired up the PC and was greeted with the "Windows has unexpectedly shut down blah blah blah" prompt. Well, I'm here seeking assistance.

As I mentioned, this is a fresh install. I've only installed the OS, Adobe Acrobat, Google Chrome, ESET SMart Security, Office 365, and software for my HP printer. Oh, and of course all the Windows updates. I'm hoping to get this resolved before installing any of my other applications. I look forward to any assistance I can get!

I just did a fresh install of Windows 7 Professional 32bit. Everything seems to be going fine, but shortly after I log in (anywhere from 15 seconds, to a couple of minutes), it BSOD's.

I can boot into safe mode fine without this happening.

The only odd thing I've noticed, is if I open up Internet Explorer, that causes a BSOD almost immediately.

Attached my log, thanks!

Hello All,
Thank you in advance for your assistance. I've been helping a friend with his machine and he just recently started getting BSoDs. He thinks it may have been caused by a World of Warcraft update, but he's continuing to get BSoDs with a fresh install of Win7 Home Premium x64.

The machine is a home-built machine with all components purchased from Newegg or Amazon (Amazon itself and not any sub-retailers that sell on amazon).

Specs:
Motherboard EVGA P55 LE

Processor: Core i7-870
Ram: 8GB of Crucial
OS: Full Retail
Age of system: 6 months
OS Age: fresh install for 30 minutes prior to BSoD

Memtest86 was clean for several hours.
Things that were installed prior to the crash:

A:BSOD after fresh install

I would guess that it's more than just a "fresh install" because the software that's causing your problem is DVB Dream. I googled it & it's a program that allows you to watch satellite TV on your computer. It's not a part of Windows so you must have installed it afterwards. Either that or you have a modified Windows installation disc.

To enable us to assist you with your computer's BSOD symptoms, upload the contents of your "\Windows\Minidump" folder.

The procedure:

* Copy the contents of \Windows\Minidump to another (temporary) location somewhere on your machine.
* Zip up the copy.

I just got three 320GB Seagate drives setup in RAID 0 for Linux, and I decided to also reinstall Windows 8 on my SSD since it started lagging and running slower than normal. While trying to install Win8, right after selecting a disk/partition to install to, I got a BSOD about an error in a nonpaged area or something. When I tried to boot into the installer again, I got a BSOD immediately after the logo splashscreen (too quick to see what it was about). Does anyone know how to fix/bypass this?
-I'm booting the Windows 8 installer from a Corsair Survivor 64GB USB3.0 flashdrive. I'm gonna try a dvd with a different iso that I downloaded more recently on my laptop.

Hi

I was getting frequent display driver crashes and audio clicking on Win 8 so I went back to Win 7. Things were fine for the first 24 hrs or so, but now Im getting BSOD's all the time. I have also tried going back to previous nvidia drivers from a few months ago but this hasnt helped.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Hello Mondo and welcome to Seven Forums.

In going though your latest dump file, it appears that a few drivers have been flagged and show up several times throughout the analysis. They are nvlddmkm.sys (nVidia Video drivers); dxgkrnl.sys (DirectX Graphics Kernel); and dxgmms1.sys (DirectX Graphics MMS.)

In the interest of full disclosure I condensed the dump file to a more manageable size and only show a single reference to the flagged drivers.

Hi , In summer 09 i upgraded everything but my PSU and GPU due to some bits of my PC getting damaged in transit.
I installed win7x64 and ever since I have had problems. I used to get problems when playing Heroes of Newerth with random game crashes and exits. Then i started to get bluescreens which were apparently being caused by AVG. I uninstalled AVG and started getting BSOD which were apparently caused by ATI GPU drivers.
So... i reformatted and gave a fresh install of Windows and have started getting blue screens again after I started playing Fallout3. Also, sometimes the screen will freeze but I can still hear people talking on voice coms etc so i get the impression the system is still running (this also happend before the reformat and install).

Please help , this has been annoying me for ages now.

Much thanks , prza

Then i started to get bluescreens which were apparently being caused by AVG. I uninstalled AVG and started getting BSOD which were apparently caused by ATI GPU drivers.
So... i reformatted and gave a fresh install of Windows and have started getting blue screens again after I started playing Fallout3. Also, sometimes the screen will freeze but I can still hear people talking on voice coms etc so i get the impression the system is still running (this also happend before the reformat and install).

Please help , this has been annoying me for ages now.

Much thanks , prza
{My system specs are in my profile}

Hi and welcome
These two probably caused by your video driver.
I would
un-installl it and re-install a fresh copy

Run a system file check
type cmd in search>right click and run as admin>sfc /scannow

if the BSOD's continue we can get more aggressive.

Happy New Years everyone! I hope everyone had a great year. I purchased this laptop I'm using (Asus G73SW) from a friend earlier this year and it has been more trouble than it's worth. Hopefully I followed all of the guidelines for the post. I included the PERFMON report, the BSOD Collection .html file, and a BlueScreenView document as well. Thanks for any help or suggestions you give me!

So I know there a few other people have the same issue but I think mine might be different. I'm currently running in Safe Mode right now because I can't sit on standard boot too long before I have a random BSOD. It's completely random and very annoying, I need help as soon as I can get it. I'll be back with my minidump file shortly, in the mean time here are my specs:

CPU: Intel i5 2300
PSU:diablotek 600W
Memory: PNY Optima PC3-10666 2x4GB
GPU: Geforce 550 Ti
Mobo: GIGABYTE Z68AP-D3
Soundcard: none
Case: Custom
PS. I thought maybe this was an install issue so I reinstalled win7 x64 again without downloading any updates and its still giving me grief.

A little back story here: So for the past few weeks I was getting tons of BSOD like pfn list corrupt, and other memory related ones. I did memtest for a few days, testing all the slots and sticks and I past all of them. I eventually found out that ntoskrnl.exe was corrupted, so I fixed that with a chkdsk and it worked OK for a few days. Then it would take numerous tries for windows to boot to the desktop, and it black screened when I did, but after a few tries I could use it.
That's why I re-installed windows.
I installed all the manufacture drivers that came with the laptop but it still is BSOD and having problems starting.
Is there an issue with a piece of hardware in my laptop?

A:BSOD and crashing on fresh install

Welcome aboard, legogoman.

Test your RAM modules for possible errors.
How to Test and Diagnose RAM Issues with Memtest86+
Run memtest for at least 8 passes, preferably overnight.

Seatool for dos: SeaTools | Seagate download. Burn it in a blank cd. boot from the CD, click on "Accept", wait for it to finish detecting the drives, then in the upper left corner select "Basic Tests", then select "Long Test" and let it run.

If both the tests results free of errors, enable Driver Verifier to monitor the drivers.
Driver Verifier - Enable and Disable
Run Driver Verifier for 24 hours or the occurrence of the next crash, whichever is earlier.

   Information
Why Driver Verifier:
It puts a stress on the drivers, ans so it makes the unstable drivers crash. Hopefully the driver that crashes is recorded in the memory dump.

How Can we know that DV is enabled:
It will make the system bit of slow, laggy.

   Warning
Before enabling DV, make it sure that you have earlier System restore points made in your computer. You can check it easily by using CCleaner looking at Tools > System Restore.

If there is no points, make a System Restore Point manually before enabling DV.

   Tip

If you fail to get on the Desktop because of DV, Boot into Advanced Boot Options > Safe mode. Disable DV there. Now boot normally again, and try following the instruction of enabling DV again.
If you cannot boot in Safe mode too, do a System Restore to a point you made earlier.

Let us know the results, with the subsequent crash dumps, if any. Post it following the Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) Posting Instructions.

And let us know which antivirus do you use.
