BSOD after changing number of processors

Q: BSOD after changing number of processors

Hi all.
I read somewhere that in order to improve the boot speed you need to go into MSCONFIG->Boot->Advanced Options...-> Tick the number of processors and select the correct number (2 or 4).

It didn't improve anything so I went back the unchecked the Number of processors, I then rebooted the computer and now I got blue screen and the installation disk isn't helping.

Any ideas how to fix it?

Preferred Solution: BSOD after changing number of processors

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

We actually need the DMP files that were created when your computer crashed. use these instructions to find and upload them. http://www.sevenforums.com/crash-loc...d-problem.html

Hi Everyone I just finished reading a post on processors and it showed me how to check to see how many processors I have running Start gt run gt msconfig gt Boot tab gt Advance options gt In the upper left corner it shows I have one selected I can click on the Number of processors box open the drop down menu and select Intel an on i3 of the processors number Changing up to four My processor stats gigahertz Intel Core i DX kilobyte Changing the number of processors on an Intel i3 primary memory cache -bit ready Multi-core total Hyper-threaded total Other stats are listed in my System Specs Some benchmarks I can share are Cold start Changing the number of processors on an Intel i3 to desktop ready minute secs Warm restart to desktop ready minute secs Shutdown secs American Megatrends Bios - - CPU temp C - F System temp C F CPU fan speed rpm No system fan Smart fan enabled CPU Voltages CPU Core V V V V V Fluctuates from to V VSB V VBAT V Not absolutely sure but I think the values are the settings and the figure to the right is the reading This is Changing the number of processors on an Intel i3 our first multi-core processor and being new at this I would rather ask questions first My DW always asks me if I have read the instructions first For now I am not looking to Overclock though that may come later but I paid for multi-core and I would like to use it My questions are What is the best way to experiment with this setting go up one at a time and observe the reaction Watch the temps right Since I only have two am I committed to setting the advance tab number to two or will the hyper-threading allow four Can my experimenting cause any damage The most obvious tip-off that something is wrong would be that the machine won't boot can you foresee any others If that would happen how would I get the machine to boot Can you suggest any in-depth links on processors and how they operate Can you think of anything I may have overlooked Until I return I will be doing a google search on the title of my post Among other things Thank You for reading and any help you may have to offer Anak

A:Changing the number of processors on an Intel i3

That is the setting for the number of processors used during boot, as in when you see the fancy windows animation. Once the computer is up and running you have four (technically two with hyper threading) running. Usually only one is used during boot-up. Only difference you'd see is a faster boot time.

Hello to all,
Wanted to confirm something I recently had a problem with on W7. It was fixed but I didn't get an explanation that I could remember. I have an Athlon X2 processor. In msconfig > boot tab > Advanced Options - there is a box the has a checkmark and a box that show the number of cores the processor has. The reasoning and correct selection is what I am concerned with. It currently has the checkbox - Unchecked and the number of processors is indicating one. Should I pick 2 processors in the box and check the checkbox to ensure the proper use of both processors or is it correct (as I vaguely suspect) the way it is currently set. Thanks for any help!
Glenn

A:Help - Advanced Boot options > Number of processors

if unchecked, windows will use the maximum number of cores that it can during the boot processes.

you only need to change this setting if you specifically know it is causing problems.

it's one of those crazy internet misconceptions that microsoft have got this wrong - you will even see posts by people swearing that their boot is faster when playing with this setting.

leave it as it is if you do not have any boot problems.

What i want to know is do i have to change or clear my BIOS or CMOS after I install the 64 X2 processor before I turn my computer back on. Or if you have any info on any other steps i must take before turning it on.

i would say replace the cpu and reboot the bios post will let you know if something is funky, but on bootup i would get into the bios and verify that has the updated cpu, i would also go to the asus site and see what latest bios update offers you....

well based on your sig, an XP2400+ is a socket A cpu, your ram is PC2700 so we know your mobo can take 333fsb probably 400 but you would have to know your pc spec, look in the manual or d/l it from hp site. I'm thinking you can go up to a XP3200+ barton but thats a guess at this point

you can also d/l Everest home to run this would give you a bunch of additional info, mobo model no would be nice

Ok. I changed my SID number last night and after I rebooted most of my stuff was gone. Well, I dont know if its gone or it is just not available to me because Im not able to log in to my my administrator account. I am not able to perform most functions because I dont have the rights to do pretty much anything.

If I get my stuff back, that is cool, but I really need to start windows 7 over so I can get started again.

Is there a way that I can fix this or somehow restart my system?

A:Problem after changing SID number

Did you by any chance record your original sid? if so you could have a look at the tools in the sysinternals suite from Microsoft.

Windows Sysinternals: Documentation, downloads and additional resources

If not and you have enough access you could try an upgrade install of your existing system from the install media or better still from inside the existing system.

once you have done this you should be able to recover your files (possibly from the windows.old folder)

once you have your files back a complete fress re-install is recommended

I am on Wanadoo anytime dial up network. The phone number and my account name keeps changing by itself. This happens after some unwanted software downloaded itself on my computer.so I keep connecting to some presumably premium rate service which i dont want.there was an icon on my desktop pointing to a program in C/Windows called 'internet.exe.'So I deleted it and the dubious icon and reset up my wanadoo account by downloading the software from their site.So far so good. Then i deleted the corrupted dial up networking account. But now the 'new' wanadoo account is corrupted and i havent even been back on the net.I presume i have a 'dialler' as this is what i believe they are called i also believe getting rid of it involves editing the registry and or .ini files.....plese can someone tell me what to do?

I want the Windows Explorer taskbar icon to be able to hold more jumplist entries than it does. Currently it is divided into three categories. "Pinned", "Frequent" and "Recent". Problem is that the total of all these is a fixed amount. Something like 14 pinned, 3 Frequent and 3 Recent. That number may not be exactly right but it's somewhere around there. If you add above that in one category, it subtracts it from the others. This should have been set up to be able to go as high as you have screen, the way Windows XP Start menu did.

Is there a way to add more entries than currently allowed?

A:Solved: MSE Number of Files Changing

I will stand corrected but I think MSE reports items scanned, rather than actual files

However the reason for the slight differences are that until a virus definition update MSE remembers the items scanned and will not scan them all again, unless it recognises changes
The exception to that is the virus definition update when it will scan more or less all

In simple terms, MSE remembers some of the files it scanned and will not scan again unless the file has changed.

This is why the first scan takes longer than subsequent scansClick to expand...

A:Dial-up user name and phone number changing

here is nothing obvious there and in 98 systems diallers normally show up in a HJT log

Download AdAware SE 1.06 from http://www.lavasoft.com and install it if you haven't already got it. If you have it, then make sure it is updated and configured as described later in this post

Run hijackthis, put a tick in the box beside these entries listed below and ONLY these entries, double check to make sure, then make sure all browser & email windows are closed and press fix checked

O16 - DPF: {64311111-1111-1121-1111-111191113457} - file://c:\eied_s7.cab
O16 - DPF: {33331111-1111-1111-1111-622221193458} - file://c:\ex.cab

then as some of the folders you need to delete may be hidden do this:
Open Windows Explorer & Go to Tools > Folder Options. Click on the View tab and make sure that "Show hidden files and folders" is checked. Also uncheck "Hide protected operating system files" and untick "hide extensions for known file types" . Now click "Apply to all folders"
Click "Apply" then "OK"
then go to C:\windows\temp and select EVERYTHING and delete it all and then do the same for C:\temp if it exists

1) Open Control Panel
2) Click on Internet Options
3) On the General Tab, in the middle of the screen, click on Delete Files
4) You may also want to check the box "Delete all offline content"
5) Click on OK and wait for the hourglass icon to stop after it deletes the temporary internet files
6) You can now click on Delete Cookies and click OK to delete cookies that websites have placed on your hard drive

then

Run ADAWARE

Before you scan with AdAware, check for updates of the reference file by using the "webupdate".
Set up the Configurations as follows:

General Button
Safety:
Check (Green) all three.

Click on "Proceed"

Please deselect "Search for negligible risk entries", as negligible risk entries (MRU's) are not considered to be a threat.

Click on "Scan Now"

Run the scanner using the Full Scan (Perform full system scan) mode.

When scan is finished, mark everything for removal and get rid of it. (Right-click the window and choose"select all" from the drop down menu) then press next and then say yes to the prompt, do you want to remove all these entries.
Reboot &
Run an online antivirus check from at least one and preferably 2 of the following sites

hi,

I visited a couple of chat and backgammon gaming on-line web-sites and downloaded from them.

Now, whenever I try to connect to the internet using my dial up connection to my internet provider, I find that my user name has disappeared and the telephone number changes to a number in another country (Malaysia).

What I have tried already:

1. Deleted the Network connection and re-created the correct connection but after hanging up and re-dialing later, I find that the info. has disappeared and the number to dial to Malay comes up again.

2. Virus Scanned with McAfee 8.0 but found no virus

3. downloaded AD-WARE, CWSHREDDER, SPY-BOT but found only the Microsoft programs for warning if anti-virus has been disconnected.

Do I have a virus or some type of spyware stuck in my computer???? what to do???
Thanks in advance to anyone who can help me )))

I'm still working on that event.

Here's a variation on the Judging category problem.

I have another report to run with two different categories: Equestrian and Other which now appear in the reports as 2 and 3 respectively. It would be much more useful to the people having to stage these entrants as "Eqtn" and "Othr" (space limitations)

I am wondering if I can use a variation on the expression I used to change the "0"s in the judging categories to "NOT Judged"

That expression was: IIf([judging category] = 0, "not judged", [judging category])

I am wondering if I used something like IIf([Class] = 2, "Eqtn", [Class] = 3, "Othr"])

Would this work?

Thanks,
Sara

Welcome to the Seven Forums

Do not buy a new DVD and license off of eBay you will end up back in the same situation where it will not be genuine.

You should contact Microsoft and turn in seller, sometimes in the past they have given a person that does that a free copy of Windows 7.

Is there a setting in XP home and pro where you can set the number of pixels in the name from 180, which appears to be standard, to about 300 -----and have it reset all the files in folders set to open in "details" ---but do it all at once (registry or somewhere else), so I won't have to change this setting for each folder set to open the files with "details". I've got all this space out in the right 1/3 of the window and I would just like to set all the folder options which are to open with the "details view" to open with the file name at about 300 pixels instead of 180 pixels, so I won't have to reset each one manually. (too many!) thx

Hello guys, I just can't work this one out. A simple formula somewhere on the worksheet "=B1-B11" will give us the answer to the contents of B1 minus the contents of B11.

Here's where I am stuck. I want the answer to be B1 minus what is in the cell that is 10 cells down, in this case B11. But I want the be able to change how many cells it will go down to find the cell to subtract from cell B1.

In my example, if I put 10 in cell A1 how do I make so if I change it to 5, the above formula will effectively be "=B1-TheCellThatIsA5CellsDown", in this example the same answer as the formula will effectively be "=B1-B6" if even makes sense?

Thank you in advance.

I was aghast for reinstallations of Windows 8 because of reasons unknown which ran operating system into trouble.
Now I know why this happened, because I selected maximum number of processors shown in 'Msconfig', which really doesn't exists ('Msconfig' showed 4 processors for Intel Core i3210).
From next start Windows 8 ran into trouble and within a day or two of using this desktop stopped responding, happened for all operating systems where I selected maximum number of processors shown in 'Msconfig'.
Therefore do not select maximum number of processors from 'Msconfig'.

Why the strangeqe question?

you see I have a Dell XPS 15z laptop with a core i7 processor, 8 Giga RAM running Windows 7 Premium and I also have an HP desktop with a core two duo processor, 3 Gigs of ram running Windows 7 Professional but surprizingly the desktop runs faster than the laptop when I give them both tthe same task on Photoshop CS6 ( a processor heavy application). I feel that I have been cheated into buying the Dell laptop which at the time of purchase was expensive in the is country.

A:Are there any new processors that are faster than Core I7 processors

Does it use 100% cpu for a long time? (so cpu is the bottleneck)
Is it a multithreaded application, so are tasks split in many subtasks and use different cores?

These crashes were caused by memory corruption (probably a driver).
Please run these two tests to verify your memory and find which driver is causing the problem.

If you are overclocking anything reset to default before running these tests.
In other words STOP!!!
1-Memtest.

Quote:
*Download a copy of Memtest86 and burn the ISO to a CD using Iso Recorder or another ISO burning program. Memtest86+ - Advanced Memory Diagnostic Tool

*Boot from the CD, and leave it running for at least 5 or 6 passes.

Just remember, any time Memtest reports errors, it can be either bad RAM or a bad motherboard slot.

Test the sticks individually, and if you find a good one, test it in all slots.

Any errors are indicative of a memory problem.

If a known good stick fails in a motherboard slot it is probably the slot.

RAM - Test with Memtest86+

2-Driver verifier

Quote:
Using Driver Verifier is an iffy proposition. Most times it'll crash and it'll tell you what the driver is. But sometimes it'll crash and won't tell you the driver. Other times it'll crash before you can log in to Windows. If you can't get to Safe Mode, then you'll have to resort to offline editing of the registry to disable Driver Verifier.

So, I'd suggest that you first backup your stuff and then make sure you've got access to another computer so you can contact us if problems arise. Then make a System Restore point (so you can restore the system using the Vista/Win7 Startup Repair feature).

Then, here's the procedure:
- Go to Start and type in "verifier" (without the quotes) and press Enter
- Select "Create custom settings (for code developers)" and click "Next"
- Select "Select individual settings from a full list" and click "Next"
- Select everything EXCEPT FOR "Special Pool", "Force Pending I/O Requests" and "Low Resource Simulation" and click "Next"
- Select "Select driver names from a list" and click "Next"
Then select all drivers NOT provided by Microsoft and click "Next"
- Select "Finish" on the next page.

Reboot the system and wait for it to crash to the Blue Screen. Continue to use your system normally, and if you know what causes the crash, do that repeatedly. The objective here is to get the system to crash because Driver Verifier is stressing the drivers out. If it doesn't crash for you, then let it run for at least 36 hours of continuous operation (an estimate on my part).

Reboot into Windows (after the crash) and turn off Driver Verifier by going back in and selecting "Delete existing settings" on the first page, then locate and zip up the memory dump file and upload it with your next post.

If you can't get into Windows because it crashes too soon, try it in Safe Mode.
If you can't get into Safe Mode, try using System Restore from your installation DVD to set the system back to the previous restore point that you created.

Im working on building a server and I need an AMD processor in it. Right now, im looking at AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+ 1GHz FSB Socket 939 Dual Core Processor Model ADA3800BVBOX for $322. The purpose of this server is just a place that 4 computers can access. Its not going to be set up as a server, but just Windows XP without a monitor. Im running an intel pentium 4 on the computer holding the network right now, and it is doing fine. Sometimes its just a little slow. So, I would like a little better than a Pentium 4, but AMD. Also, less then $322. What can I get?

I moved my desktop to Windows 10 Ocotober 2015 and all was fine until about 2 or 3 weeks ago, After a Windows update the OS started to behave unpredictably and get BSODs every 5 or 10 minutes for dufferent reasons OAGE_FAULT_IN_NON_PAGED_AREA, IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL, KERNERL_SECURITY_CHECK_FAILURE are some examples. I did a memory check. All looks fine. Also updated the BIOS to the latest version and made sure all drivers were up to date. Also ran SRC. None of these actions have stopped the problem. Does anyone have any idea how I can settle things down. I'm an old mainframer so I'm rreally hitting the limits of my knowledge now. Have uploaded the debug report with this post. Thanks in advance to anyone who can provide an insight.

A:BSOD Frequently with a Number of Different Causes

There are multiple different BSODs. So it will not be very easy to pinpoint the exact issue. But as there are a few of them which are pointing to memory corruption, let us have a look at it in depth.

First, You have 2x2GB RAM.

Code:
Size 2048MB
Device Locator DIMM0
Bank Locator BANK0
Memory Type 01h - Other
Speed 1600MHz
Manufacturer Manufacturer0
Part Number PartNum0
-------------------------------------------------------
Size 2048MB
Device Locator DIMM1
Bank Locator BANK1
Memory Type 01h - Other
Speed 1600MHz
Manufacturer Manufacturer1
Part Number PartNum1
Please make it sure that those are not form different lot, but are parts of the same RAM KIT. Mix of RAM can cause such issues.

Second, it is 1600MHz.

Code:
Speed 1600MHz
In your case, 1600 MHz is OC, and OC may make a system unstable. Reduce the speed to either 1333MHz or 1066MHz. See it it becomes stable.

Third, Test your RAM modules for possible errors.MemTest86+ - Test RAM Run memtest86+ for at least 8 consecutive passes.

If it start showing errors/red lines, stop testing. A single error is enough to determine that something is going bad there.
Take a camera snap of the memtest86+ window before closing the program. Let us see it.
Screenshots and Files - Upload and Post in Ten Forums - Windows 10 Forums

Fourth, you need to update the system.

Code:
Windows 10 Kernel Version 10240 MP (4 procs) Free x86 compatible
Currently it is 10586.

Finally, the board manufacturer does not list anything for windows 10. It might be a compatibility issue as well. Before you update windows, set the windows update to get the necessary drivers for you. Device Installation Settings.

Do these. Let us know the results.

Hi All,

I have always had BSOD at varying degrees over the last couple of years and never really did anything about it.(I know Bad) Previous BSOD have been memory management, paged fault in non paged area, and ntfs file system.  Today I decided I would try and establish the problems and did a memtest (only 2 passes) no errors.

Driver verifier identifiied my qualcomm lan driver as a culprit so I installed an updated driver from my motherboard manufacturer and this error disappeared, however all this did was uncover a VerifierExt.sys error  0xC4 and I cant identifiy this driver.

Further Info.

I recently bought a ATI Radeon R9 290 OC, how can I eliminate the PSU being the problem all the calculator sites say the PSU is adequate.

In this area I am almost certainley a noob, so any help is appreciated.

A:Experiencing a number of BSOD in win 8.1 64

Can you upload the dump files for analysis.
Go toC:\Windows\minidump
Upload all those files by copying them to the desktop and compressing them in a single .zip folder.
Or even better, upload a Kernel memory dump.
Go the Start
Right click My Computer
Select Properties
Click Advanced system settings
Click on the Advanced tab
Select Settings under Startup and Recovery
Then under Write debugging information select Kernel memory dump.
Once a dump is created go to:C:\Windows\memory.dmp
Copy the file to the desktop, zip it up and upload it to a file sharing site like Onedrive. After the upload is done post the download link in your next reply.

Seems that there is a problem with the CPU itself

Run Prime 95 to test your CPU. Carefully the instructions in this tutorial: CPU - Stress Test with Prime95. Run 3 separate tests, one on each of the settings (Blend, Small FFTs, Large FFTs). Post back with your results

According to your dump file the issue is with your Processor. This occurs when the processor is non-responsive or is deadlocked.

Possible Solutions :

a) BIOS bug
b) a driver whose activity is causing the target processor to lock up
c) a hardware defect (temperature, voltage, dust

But its mainly caused by a defective CPU or outdated BIOS

I have W98 SP2, and three teens banging away at the computer all the time. Recently, the system would stop with a screen with a blue background, and a message that Windows was shutting down to prevent damage to the computer.

Upon rebooting, sometimes it reboots fine, sometimes I get the option of which way I want to boot (I choose Last Known Good...) and sometimes the it does not even get that far. Even when it does reboot ok, the same blue screen will eventually come up. I have been trying to run the ActiveScan, but at best it has gotten to 30% and then the blue screen again.

Any suggestions?

Hello,

I have recently bought a new computer with have 16Gb and 2133Hz of RAM, and i did a overclock at my motherboard to use the RAM , now i got a BSOD, then i opened my computer information and i find out that my RAM was at 8Gb, so i opened my computer and relocate the ram, now it's working fine, but i would like to confirme what was the problem.

Here is my Minedump file, for those who is interested to review it.

Regards,

Basically each morning I import data from an internet database to excel.
I need to divide the number of rows, that i receive daily in this excel document, to 4 worksheets designated to 4 staff members.
Each staff member needs to receive an equal amount of rows.

For e.g. if today i received 124 rows of data then each staff member should get 31 rows each.
Except the number of rows will vary on each day. I could get 200 plus rows of data.

Can someone please assist with writing a macro to divide up the rows in to the 4 worksheets? I would be very appreciative. Thanks in advance

I have attached the sample file for viewing....the data starts from row 3...thanks

No drivers installed for your Stylus Pro printer, please install them or disconnect the printer

Daemon Tools (and Alcohol % software) are known to cause BSOD's on some Win7 systems (mostly due to the sptd.sys driver, although I have seen dtsoftbus01.sys blamed on several occasions).
Please uninstall the program, then use the following free tool to ensure that the troublesome sptd.sys driver is removed from your system (pick the 32 or 64 bit system depending on your system's configuration): DuplexSecure - FAQ

Some free alternatives (I don't use them, so I can't comment on them)
KernSafe iSCSI initiator, Virtual CD/DVD-RW Emulator, Virtual Encryption Disk and Virtual CD/DVD-ROM Emulator All-in-One free software.
MagicISO - Convert BIN to ISO, Create, Edit, Burn, Extract ISO file, ISO/BIN converter/extractor/editor

Running 8 memory dumps generated over the last month
6 different BSOD error codes cited
6 different causes blamed

This is most likely a hardware error. They (hardware errors) are usually caused by one of these things:
- borked (broken) hardware (several different procedures used to isolate the problem device)
- overclocking - You'll know if you're overclocking or not. If uncertain we can suggest things to check.
- compatibility issues
- low-level driver problems (such as Daemon Tools)
- or even malware (scanned for when we ask for hardware diagnostics from Initial Hardware Diagnostics or Hardware Diagnostics ).

Blackberry software drivers date from 2008, please either update it or remove it from your system.

I also suspect your McAfee and your CD/DVD burning software - but have no firm basis for it other than a "gut" feeling. Just keep an eye on it for now.

Please note the files below that are dated from 2009 and earlier. Please update them or remove their programs from your system. There's links to info about the files immediately following the file listing.

The following info is just FYI, I've already addressed the issues that I saw in the above paragraphs

I was downloading a form from google images and got attacked. Now I get a big blue message that says BSOD error 777 and then a message that says I will be logged off and after 10 minutes the computer shuts down OR I can call this number 800-311-5947 and get it fixed. My computer is being held for ransom. Also, now I cannot update definitions MSE or Super spyware AND I cannot access this website IT says:secure connection failed. so I am using my other computer. I tried uninstalling all of the garbage, but I still have a problem. Malwarebytes did not get rid of it.
Where do I start? I cannot get a log to out because I cannot get to your site.

A:BSOD shortly after loading, do not know error number

Welcome
Getting conflicting reports from your reports. Lets start with a driver verifier.
Driver Verifier
I'd suggest that you first backup your data and then make sure you've got access to another computer so you can contact us if problems arise. Then make a System Restore point (so you can restore the system using the Vista/Windows 7 Startup Repair feature).

In Windows 7 you can make a Startup Repair disk by going to Start....All Programs...Maintenance...Create a System Repair Disc - with Windows Vista you'll have to use your installation disk or the "Repair your computer" option at the top of the Safe Mode menu .

Then, here's the procedure:
- Go to Start and type in "verifier" (without the quotes) and press Enter
- Select "Create custom settings (for code developers)" and click "Next"
- Select "Select individual settings from a full list" and click "Next"
- Select everything EXCEPT FOR "Low Resource Simulation" and click "Next"
- Select "Select driver names from a list" and click "Next"
Then select all drivers NOT provided by Microsoft and click "Next"
- Select "Finish" on the next page.

Reboot the system and wait for it to crash to the Blue Screen. Continue to use your system normally, and if you know what causes the crash, do that repeatedly. The objective here is to get the system to crash because Driver Verifier is stressing the drivers out. If it doesn't crash for you, then let it run for at least 36 hours of continuous operation (an estimate on my part).

If you can't get into Windows because it crashes too soon, try it in Safe Mode.
If you can't get into Safe Mode, try using System Restore from your installation DVD to set the system back to the previous restore point that you created.

A:BSOD while playing Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon. Can't remember error number

MSINFO32:
Please go to Start and type in "msinfo32.exe" (without the quotes) and press Enter
Save the report as an .nfo file, then zip up the .nfo file and upload/attach the .zip file with your next post.
Also, save a copy as a .txt file and include it also (it's much more difficult to read, but we have greater success in getting the info from it).

If you're having difficulties with the format, please open an elevated (Run as administrator) Command Prompt and type (or copy/paste) "msinfo32 /nfo %USERPROFILE%\Desktop\TEST.NFO" (without the quotes) and press Enter. Then navigate to Desktop to retrieve the TEST.NFO file. If you have difficulties with making this work, please post back. Then zip up the .nfo file and upload/attach the .zip file with your next post.

systeminfo:
Please open an elevated (Run as administrator) Command Prompt and type (or copy/paste) "systeminfo.exe >%USERPROFILE%\Desktop\systeminfo.txt" (without the quotes) and press Enter. Then navigate to Desktop to retrieve the syteminfo.txt file. If you have difficulties with making this work, please post back. Then zip up the .txt file and upload/attach the .zip file with your next post.

In System Properties I have a Registered to:####-OEM-######-#####
which doesn't match the number on the tag stuck to my case,(Proof of license, product key).
I don't understand. Just curious.

A:Registered to: Number and Product Number

What you see in Properties is the Product ID which is 20 characters (you seem to be missing a # up front). The Product ID is generated when XP is installed from your 25 character Product Key - that is what you have on the sticker (hopefully). What you see in Properties is not generated until you do the installation. There is some method to the Microsoft madness, but I forget what it all is.You cannot find your 25 character Product Key in the registry (prevents piracy), but it is on your sticker and you can use third party tools to reveal the 25 character Product Key - like the ever popular:http://www.magicaljellybean.com/keyfinder/I have all that jellybean stuff on a piece of paper with all my original installation CDs and paperwork. You never know when you might need it.You can view/change some other interesting Properties information in the registry here:HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersionI am not sure what would happen if you were to change the Product ID in the registry though - would you suddenly become invalid?! People that buy second hand computers are most anxious to change the "RegisteredOwner and RegisteredOrganization" part once they discover their new bargain system is registered to some guy they met last week at the flea market. They should really do a total reinstall on a second hand system anyway but they never seem to have the installation CD or 25 character Product Key, so we'll fix it so it at least "looks" right and make them feel better .If you ever have dealing with Microsoft, I think they want the Product ID.

Hello greenflash and welcome back.

All the minidumps crash at HTTP.sys. This is the Windows HTTP Protocol Stack Driver. They also reference SYMTDI.SYS. This is the Symantec/norton Network Dispatch Driver.

Uninstall symantec/Norton security software and try using a different security product.

Upgraded mobo and CPU today, formatted HDD and did clean install of windows 7 pro 32 bit. Since then I have had constant and changing BSOD's for over 12 hours now. I am desperate for help on fixing this issue! This is the first box I have myself built, and I am getting frustrated beyond belief!!!

Attached are the minidumps, as well as the perfmon log and the other log requested.

Thank you in advance for any help you can provide. I'm at my wits end, and put a lot of money into this box only to have it be unreliable at the moment.

Full Specs:

CPU: AMD Phenom II x6 1090T
MOBO: ASUS M4A89GTD PRO/USB3
GPU: Radeon HD 4650
RAM: Patriot Extreme 2x2GB

After I changed my motherboard, graphics card, cpu, and added ram, I get random BSOD.
I am not sure exactly when I get these BSOD, but I think it happens when I am watching videos or streams. (not always though)
The message from BSOD says "A clock interrupt was not received on a secondary processor within the allocated time interval"

New hardwares I bought are :
CPU: i7 4470K
Graphics Card: Asus GTX780-3GD5
MoBo: Asus Z87-Deluxe
RAM: G.Skill Ares Series 8GB (2 x 4GB)- I already had 2x4GB of this ram and added these two for total 16GB

I would really appreciate some help.
Thanks

A:BSOD after changing some parts

Did you perform a fresh install of the OS?
Did you install the latest version of ALL the motherboard drivers supplied by Asus?
Did you install the latest video card drivers?
As for RAM, unless you were having issues from running out of free RAM, you aren't likely to notice any performance gain by having more RAM. Also, many motherboards reduce RAM timings (ie: speed) when multiple sticks (ie: more than a single pair or triple set) are used and/or all RAM slots are full. Most users will never need more than 8GB. It's just common for people to assume more is better.

I have filled out my system specs in the forum facility. The system was originally built with an Athlon II X2 255 Regor CPU. I changed it out with an Athlon II X4 630 and now I get the BSOD when waking the computer from sleep.

Attached are the results of Windows_NT6_BSOD_v3.03_jcgriff2_.exe wit PerfMon report added ("PerfMon_Report.html").

Your help is much appreciated, thank you.

Memory corruption probably Related to PSINAflt.sys PSINAflt Filter Driver from Panda Security, S.L.. I would remove it and replace with Microsoft Security essentials.

These were caused by a memory exception. Please run these two tests to verify your memory and find which driver is causing the problem.
1-Memtest.

*Download a copy of Memtest86 and burn the ISO to a CD using Iso Recorder or another ISO burning program. http://www.memtest.org/#downiso

*Boot from the CD, and leave it running for at least 5 or 6 passes.

Just remember, any time Memtest reports errors, it can be either bad RAM or a bad motherboard slot.

Test the sticks individually, and if you find a good one, test it in all slots.

RAM - Test with Memtest86+

2-Driver verifier

Quote:
I'd suggest that you first backup your data and then make sure you've got access to another computer so you can contact us if problems arise. Then make a System Restore point (so you can restore the system using the Vista/Win7 Startup Repair feature).

Hello everyone,
I've been searching on the web for this problem for hours now, I've installed Microsoft fix, Followed other guides which said :
Change iaStorV Start to 0 (earlier it was 3)
Change HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\msahci]
"Start" to 0.

Steps i'm doing, I go into Bios then i change the Sata to AHCI (Its currently Raid). I save and exit. Right before the Log-in Screen I crashes.

I do not want to re-install my OS because it will take a lot of time to re-install all of the programs and drivers.

Edit 1: I have a SSD drive, I tried using the Diagnostic tool but its telling me Sorry No dump found .

A:BSoD after changing to AHCI

Hiyya and welcome pokkidief suppose you didn't do any back ups to an external by any chance? If not well... it might be the long haul again mate but take a look at this

AHCI : Enable in Windows 7 / Vista

it might not solves the problem but good for future refs eh?

A:BSOD - ntoskrnl.exe after changing RAM. Bad RAM?

The crashes are either not showing anything precisely, or indicating to ATI display driver.

As you are saying that those BSODs took place after ram upgradation, test your RAM modules for possible errors.
How to Test and Diagnose RAM Issues with Memtest86+
Run memtest for at least 8 passes, preferably overnight.

Also update your ATI/AMD display driver.
You can get it from the link in our forum, Latest AMD Catalyst Video Driver for Windows 7, or you may go to AMD Graphics Driver and Software and opt for Automatically Detect and Install the appropriate driver for your card.

During installation, you may opt for advanced installation, and install the display driver only, not the Catalyst Control Center.

Let us know the results.

Hi,
I have multiple lan cards/network adapters. Each configured for a given ISP.
When I change from one say Ethernet card to say a wireless adapter I get BSD.

I am attaching the three recent dumps in one zip file created using SF diagnostic tool for your reference.

Security App

Crashes indicate Kaspersky being a possible cause. Remove Kaspersky and replace with Microsoft Security Essentials to see if it provides more stability. Uninstallers (removal tools) for common antivirus software. Microsoft Security Essentials and Malwarebytes are recommended from a strict BSOD perspective. They do not cause blue screens on the system as other AV products do.

Microsoft Security Essentials, Free antivirus for windows and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Free

   Information
Do not start the free trial of MalwareBytes, unselect that option when prompted.

Update and make full scans with both separately.

Start up

Keep less stuff at the start-up. Only anti-virus, this helps avoid driver conflicts and improves time to log in to windows.
