WHEA-Logger (W7 freezes/crashes) Hardware fault

Q: WHEA-Logger (W7 freezes/crashes) Hardware fault

This crash started out of the blue for no apparent reason I generally find that leaving one side of my case open helps to keep my PC freezes/crashes) WHEA-Logger Hardware fault (W7 cooler than when the case is WHEA-Logger (W7 freezes/crashes) Hardware fault closed and sealed I have the case closed atm I did have a noisy PSU which was slightly respositioned but other than this I am sure nothing else could be the cause The only thing I did with the PSU was to adjust the casing screws so it no longer vibrated And I do have my doubts about the PSU being at fault here This error crash has only showed up months later after adjusting the PSU If the problem consists and no one here is able to help resolve this then I will go back to Vista Ultimate and see if the problems showup there Also FYI this PC has never had nor ever will be overclocked Copied from Event Viewer Script -- php buffer start -- code span style color span style color BB Log nbsp Name span span style color nbsp nbsp nbsp Preferred Solution: WHEA-Logger (W7 freezes/crashes) Hardware fault

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Please read this article: http://www.sevenforums.com/crash-loc...-what-try.html

In particular, test your RAM, Video card, and make sure your temps are okay using Speedfan.

Yesterday I started to get freeze on my computer mainly while playing video game or doing things related to video hardware.

I'm suspecting a graphic card failures here, however, I can still play some games and it will work well under severe conditions and sometimes the computer just freeze up, everything locked.

I get this message : whea-logger event 18 in the windows event viewers.

Here are the minidump-file:

I have not use the forum in a long time, hopefully it still work that ways. Thanks in advance.

Event Viewer messages that I see in repetition with various processos ID :

A fatal hardware error has occurred.

Reported by component: Processor Core
Error Source: Machine Check Exception
Error Type: Bus/Interconnect Error
Processor ID: 0

The details view of this entry contains further information.

I must mention that the freeze end up with BSOD report but there is no BSOD screen.

I'm on a portable so I can't check your system info right now.
Traditionally a WHEA error is a hardware level error though.
Meaning something is wrong physically with a component in the computer.

Hopefully someone on a actual computer will drop by here for you.

My HP 9608 laptop with Windows Vista Home Premium has 2-3 WHEA Logger errors showing in the event log on every bootup - and it freezes at bootup about 1 in 10-15 bootups. Could this be connected? What can I do about this WHEA Logger error - the event log says "a corrected hardware error occured"; error source = corrected machine check; error type is either: TLB error or Memory Hierarchy Error. Anyone have suggestions for what I should do?

I am getting these warnings in the event viewer for about 2 days, now seems that these errors have stopped.

Look at the photo, the processor ID is 7,0,1,6.

Why i am getting those warnings ? I am using windows 8, latest updates, and drivers.

Also my PC is i7 3770k 4.5Ghz (multiplier) 1.21V PLL 1.6V, latest BIOS installed.

I tested my CPU in intel burn test, the test passed, i am using this OC profile since i bought the rig, back in march 2012, and i didn't had a single problem. No bsod, no crash in games, no shutdown, nothing.

Also, i have tested my ram (8gb black dragon geil 1866Mhz XMP) tested them on memtest bootable 4.20V and the test passed, no errors. Also, i don't have any error while using the PC normal, no crashes, bsod, etc.

So, can anyone tell me what is that WHEA-Logger ?

A:WHEA-Logger Event ID 19

The WHEA error is a hardware error reported by the CPU.
To start, remove the overclock and see if the error persists.

Leave the overclock off while troubleshooting. Feel free to resume it once the system has stabilized.
Then start with these free diagnostics: Hardware Diagnostics

Please provide this information so we can provide a more complete analysis (even though you're not having BSOD's): https://www.eightforums.com/bsod-cra...tructions.html

Also, please:
- open Event Viewer (eventvwr.msc)
- expand the Custom Views category (left click on the > next to the words "Custom Views")
- right click on Administrative Events
- select "Save all Events in Custom View as..."
- save the file as Admin.evtx
- zip up the file (right click on it, select "Send to", select "Compressed (zipped) folder")
- upload it with your next post (if it's too big, then upload it to a free file-hosting service and post a link here).

STOP 0x124 errors
This is an error that your CPU reports to Windows. They're difficult to interpret, and the results of the interpretation aren't very helpful.

Most often caused by hardware problems (bad drivers, incompatible drivers/hardware, broken hardware)

Found this just after turning on PC this morning. I tried searching on my own but was way over my head & a good share of results talked of BSOD but I've not had them. I'm wondering what, if any, special scan might reveal something?
Thank you.

A:How do I investigate WHEA-Logger?

I assume you are talking about the computer listed in your system specs. I do not know what emachines allow you to adjust in BIOS. But, I would first go to bios and look at your ram and sata controller. Then set optimized defaults, set your ram frequency, timings and voltage to manufacturers specs, and set the sata controller to what it is now then set the current boot order, save and exit. Once booted into Windows open an elevated command prompt (click the start button, tupe cmd, right click the cmd entry and select run as administrator) When the window opens copy/paste this command in the Window sfc /scannow That will check for and attempt to repair any missing or corrupted system files.
See option Two of this tutorial SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker. There are several tests that can be run, but start out with those.
Other tests are RAM - Test with Memtest86+
Hardware - Stress Test With Prime95 which I don't know would be a good idea with an emachines as it creates excessive heat.

A:WHEA-Logger Error 19

Your error suggests that your computer components are overheating. Maybe an overclocked competent was damaged and can now not cool itself properly. Can you go into the BIOS or use some sort of program that will tell you the tempetures of components inside your PC and post them? Also please attach a system information file or a DxDiag file so I know what the system is. go HERE for info on how to make a system info file.

UPDATE: I really need to go to bed and will continue helping you tomorrow.

Its a hardware issue, software or drivers may not fix it, is it under Warranty? You can try reinstalling all the chipset drives found at link below.  http://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/HP-Pavilion-Gaming-15-ak000-Notebook/8610971/model/8...

Hi bnt welcome to SF .

Sudden restarts such as these are usually an electrical issue meaning the PSU
is the main culprit in this regard.
Just noting, your motherboard isn't really built for overclocking, your CPU's stock wattage is 125W
which is your motherboard's maximum rated capacity.
Have you done so for any prolonged amount of time?

What is the make, model and age of your PSU?
Fill out this form and post back the result:
Power Supply Calculator
Now for the bugchecks they are a generic BUS error but the WHEA logger event somewhat helps
in narrowing it down a bit.

about the GPU PCI-Express, try using the integrated graphics and assess the situation,
if it still reboots randomly look into trying a different PSU.

Hi all first time poster why these? WHEA-Logger heat issues getting - Also, I am events on here - after all my years online I can't believe I've not come across this site before but when searching for solutions to my current problem explained below I found myself here so here goes I've just performed a clean re-install of Windows on my laptop and it seems to be running well but I would like to know what these entries are which I am seeing in the Event Viewer WHEA-LOGGER event A fatal hardware error has occurred Reported by component Processor Core Error Source Machine Check Exception Error Type Unknown Error Processor ID The details view of this entry contains further information I have seen a few of these when searching on this site but none relating to the above What is this error actually telling me Seeing as everything seems to be running normally then I am confused by this I'm wondering if it was anything to do with overheating This laptop Acer Aspire gets VERY hot and the fan seems to be going constantly My temps aren't great but it's my GPU temperature which is alarming I have had no freeze-ups and the system seems to be running at a decent speed but ideally I want to get these temperatures down so the unit is not so hot I am even using one of those laptop stands with a built-in fan but it appears WHEA-Logger events - why am I getting these? Also, heat issues to make little difference as who knows maybe it would run even faster if it was not so hot I've had the back cover off and the fan is clearly visible but also just as clearly it is not clogged with dust and nor are my vents so I am stumped on this one So basically is anyone able to offer any advice on a the WHEA-Logger error in the Windows event viewer and b how I can cool this thing down Cheers Alex

A:WHEA-Logger events - why am I getting these? Also, heat issues

High temps on most of the stuff - but it's not critically high.
If you live in a house without air conditioning in Norfolk, VA, USA this is probably normal due to the high temps and humidity at this time of year. If it's Norfolk in the UK, then that probably isn't the case.

Try aiming a house fan into the open case to see if that brings the temps down. If it does, then you'll need more work on airflow and fans within your case. A long time ago I got a 3? C decrease by putting a blowhole and fan in the top of my case.

The WHEA-Logger error is mentioning a Machine Check Exception. This is an error that's transmitted by your CPU to Windows. They're not easy to debug, but you can figure them out. Have a look at this post for some things to check: http://www.sevenforums.com/crash-loc...-what-try.html

Even though you're not having BSOD's - Please provide this information so we can provide a complete analysis (from the Pinned Topic at the top of the forum):
Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) Posting Instructions

Also, please do the following:
- open Event Viewer (run eventvwr.msc from the "Run" dialog)
- expand the Custom Views category (left click on the > next to the words "Custom Views")
- right click on Administrative Events
- select "Save all Events in Custom View as..."
- save the file as Admin.evtx
- zip up the file (right click on it, select "Send to", select "Compressed (zipped) folder")
- upload it with your next post (if it's too big, then upload it to a free file-hosting service and post a link here).

Finally, this may be a hardware error (look at the screenshot, it says it's a corrected hardware error).
As such, please start with these free hardware diagnostics: Hardware Diagnostics

First suspicion is overclocking. If overclocking, return the CPU to default values and see if that fixes the errors.

If not, then please run some of the free CPU stress tests at this link: Additional Hardware Diagnostics

Since I updated Windows 10 I have noticed a large number of warnings been generated in the Event log (34 in 1 hour)

A corrected hardware error has occurred.

Component: PCI Express Root Port
Error Source: Advanced Error Reporting (PCI Express)

Bus Device:Function 0x0:0x1C:0x4
Vendor ID Device ID 0x8086:0x9D14
Class Code: 0x30400

This seems to indicate a problem with the Intel PCI express root port. I've tried updating the relevant drivers but I still get the warnings.
I have a Toshiba Satellite P50-C-18L and it seems to be working OK.

Has anyone seen this before? Or know how to fix it?

The same thing happens to me quite oftenly, and only when I play Wolfenstein 09. It really heats up my GPU and most of the time my PC ends crashing in a BSOD. I don't know what this game does to stress the computer that hard, no other game does it. I do hope they release a patch for it, to make it playable. It's a pity really. I even bought an additional case cooler, but not even that helped in the end

I ve had this problem for a long time When I put my computer in hibernation sometimes when I wake it it hangs at the user select screen or it just shows 18 fails. works when hibernation randomly, Event Hibernation Logger WHEA a black screen Sometimes I can reset the computer after it has hanged and try again resuming from hibernation and many times it will work after a couple of tries Other times after resetting I won t get the prompt to try again with resuming the other option is to delete hibernation data and reboot the system but I will get the usual screen that says that Windows was not shut down correctly with all the options for safe mode etc If I cannot resume and I get the screen with safe mode and all the other crap I finally log in I get a notice that there was a critical error in the details I see BlueScreen and other data but I actually never get a blue screen In the dump folder there are no dmp files related to the hibernation hanging Anyway when it happens I see several Event WHEA-Logger in the event viewer about of them every time What s weird though is that I literally have NO problems Hibernation works randomly, WHEA Logger Event 18 when hibernation fails. with this computer other than this The only times it hangs is when I resume it from hibernation I can play games or run stress tests with or without overclock and the system is stable But there is some problem that prevents it from resuming from hibernation correctly so every time I use it is basically a gamble because it has like chance of working PLEASE help me fix this problem I tried EVERY SINGLE solution I found with google related to hibernation problems and it s still there I even formatted and reinstalled Windows from scratch and it s still there I m positive I updated every single driver for every hardware I have and nope no solution I know the WHEA error is related to the hardware but like I said everything works PERFECTLY once the system starts up properly or when it resumes from hibernation properly I am desperate I m even willing to give you remote access to my computer if you need I AM DESPERATE Current System specs and installed hardware Windows Ultimate x I do not remember if this problem happened when I had Vista Intel Core Quad Q Asus Rampage Formula Motherboard Gb DDR OCZ Gigabyte GTX Ti Western Digital Caviar Black Gb as system drive CoolerMaster Realpower W PSU Hauppauge WinTV HVR capture card A Philips IDE DVD burner Some USB stuff Over the last years I ve had this problem I replaced the following hardware but the problem has always been there Gb DDR generic OEM Sapphire Radeon HD Seagate Barracuda Gb

Hi I was hoping somebody could offer an insight on the below as searching around I've not found much to go on other than quot overheating quot Basically my laptop has Home (W7 event 18/19 Viewer errors WHEA-Logger in Event Premium) been having very high temperatures for a long time usually C for CPU and often - for GPU insanely high in other words For example see how hot the machine gets just by resuming from a sleep this is all within a minute or so I have been seeing the following error in event viewer each time I start Windows entries for some time So today I bit the bullet and had the back cover off the laptop and noticed what a bad state the thermal compound was in for both the CPU and the chipset WHEA-Logger event 18/19 errors in Event Viewer (W7 Home Premium) chip so wiped it off using TIM Cleaner and then applied new thermal compound and put the laptop back together I was actually shocked because for the first time since I can remember I could feel cold air blowing from the vents of my laptop I logged into Windows and noticed that my temperatures had fallen and were staying at around the below Not as low as I'd like but a massive improvement Trouble is I am still getting the WHEA-Logger event errors in Windows Event Viewer 'processor core' and wondered if this was not in regards to overheating after all The plus side is my laptop is now almost totally silent - the way it must have been when I bought it new years ago But I was wondering how to investigate these WHEA-Logger errors if anyone has any advice that'd be great Thanks PS - I think I accidentally got some TIM Cleaner spilt on the carpet Might be nothing to worry about but I did notice the quot Harmful quot hazard symbol on the bottle - need I be worried and no I am not talking about the carpet talking about me and wondering how harmful it actually is lol Cheers

First, well done on applying the thermal paste to the cpu/gpu. I assume you cleaned the vents as well. Did you use arctic silver 5 (just curious)?

I wonder if the processor could have been damaged from the heat. Are you experiencing any BSODs or other problems? You can run Prime95 to test your system. And Furmark for gpu.

Hello there. I've been having frequent BSOD's while both browsing, and gaming. It seems to be a hardware failure judging from the AMDAuthentic. Although I'm curious as to whether it's just the drivers. Any help would be appreciated. It happens more often when gaming, and my video card has overheated in the past, but at the time of most of my crashes the temp was in the 80's which is hot, but would normally run stable at that temp. The dump files refer to the processor being the problem though.

Attachment 53358

A:Frequent BSD: WHEA Uncorrectable Error, AMD Hardware

The WHEA Uncorrectable Error is a STOP 0x124 error (more info on that here: BSOD Index ). While it is most commonly a hardware problem, it's not always so.
First off, this is an error that's reported to the CPU - who, in turn, reports it to Windows (it's actually not blaming the CPU).

While temps in the 80's are hot, I wouldn't expect them to crash the system. I have to wonder about the method that you're measuring your temps - and the accuracy of the sensors. In the past I had a GPU running at 65?C that burned me severely. The sensor wasn't reading correctly and the temp was actually up around 100?C.

Your UEFI/BIOS dates from 2011. Please check at the manufacturer's website to see if there are any UEFI/BIOS updates available for your system. Also check the readme file to see if they apply to the problems that you are having. Please be advised that flashing the UEFI/BIOS is a very unforgiving process - and one mistake can physically damage your motherboard. If possible, use the "inside Windows" flash mechanism (if your OEM provides one) - that is much more forgiving than the traditional (floppy drive) flash method.

You have a Linksys AE1200:. It's driver (AE1200w764.sys) dates from 2011:

I do not recommend using wireless USB network devices. Especially in Win8/8.1 systems.
These wireless USB devices have many issues with Win7 and later - using Vista drivers with them is almost sure to cause a BSOD.
Should you want to keep using these devices, be sure to have Win8/8.1 drivers - DO NOT use Vista drivers!!!
An installable wireless PCI/PCIe card that's plugged into your motherboard is much more robust, reliable, and powerful.

There are enough signs here that I have to wonder about this installation. Should this be a pirated copy of Windows, please be aware that we may not be able to fix it (as the hacks that were done to activate it will cause the OS to behave differently than we expect it to). If that's the case, our efforts to help may just waste your time. Secondly, the forum rules prohibit assisting with pirated software - so the topic would be closed if that is the case.

Please provide the MGADiag report according to these instructions (from this post: Product Key Number - Uninstall and Deactivate in Windows - Page 3 - Windows 7 Help Forums ):

To properly analyse and solve problems with Activation and Validation, we need to see a full copy of the report produced by the MGADiag tool (download and save to desktop - http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012 )
Once saved, run the tool.
Click on the Continue button, which will produce the report.
To copy the report to your response, click on the Copy button in the tool (ignore any error messages at this point), and then paste (using either r-click/Paste, or Ctrl+V ) into your response.

MSI Afterburner and Riva Tuner (along with EVGA Precision) are known to cause BSOD's in some Windows systems (it's driver is usually RTCore64.sys). Please un-install them immediately!

If you're overclocking, please stop the overclock while we're troubleshooting. Feel free to resume the overclock once the system has been stabilized.

AMD OverDrive (AODDriver2.sys) is either a stand-alone application, or a component of the AMD VISION Engine Control Center. This driver is known to cause BSOD's on some Windows systems.

NOTE: these symptoms were from the previous release of OverDrive. The new release uses the same driver name, but is dated from 4 November 2013.

Please un-install all AMD/ATI video stuff from Control Panel...Programs...Un-install a program

A:Experiencing Multiple Crashes-Whea Uncorrecatble Error

Welcome.

Already, as I opened your second crash dump without even looking at the first yet, I see the dreaded 0x124 hardware stop error involving hal. Not good. Could be a hardware fault, but likely not, so no worries yet.

But on the other hand, you came to right place, surely. Let's see what we can do to tame the beast.

1) Especially since your machine is in a drastic state, and because it is a high likelihood of the cause, I'd remove AVG immediately. Safe mode is best to do this, with the tool they offer to do it with.

For testing now and even permanently if you'd like, I recommend to use MSE to replace it. In Windows 8, it is already on the system. To enable it, use services.msc to start the Windows Defender service and set it to automatic.

2) TuneUp Utilities? Uninstall. Not only does it add unnecessary drivers to the machine, you don't need it at all.

3) These drivers must be updated:

Code:
LV302V64 LV302V64.SYS Sat Jul 26 11:09:08 2008 (488B3E14)
lv302a64 lv302a64.sys Sat Jul 26 11:06:31 2008 (488B3D77)
LVUSBS64 LVUSBS64.sys Sat Jul 26 11:06:36 2008

They're for your camera. Here is a link to go to to see what you can come up with to install:

Logitech Support - Downloads, Manuals, FAQs & More

0x124 is drastic, so I am keeping my fingers crossed that the above does well for you. If not, time to get really nasty with the machine. heh Let us know please...

I run Windows XP HE and get the blue screen of death and a message that my PHYSICAL memory is dumping to disk. I then see numbers ascending, I just switch off, this is the only way I can escape !

Every time I reboot it checks the disks for errors but gets ALMOST all the way through then HANGS. To overcome this I simply reboot again and it is ok.

I am worried that this DUMPING PHYSICAL MEMORY TO DISK will keep happening. Maybe even when I am away from my pc with disastrous results. It just suddenly happens with no warning. I no longer feel I can just leave my pc on unless I am watching it all the time. Very frustrating with broadband

In addition when I boot up I get an error message that the CPU is unworkable, hitting F1 gets me in ok.

A:Is it a hardware fault or O/S ?

Sounds like you have some serious hardware issues.

The "dumping physical memory to disk" is fine, all its doing is recording to disk a copy of the contents of the memory, for use by a Tech in diagnosing the problem (maybe...)

Its not harmful, its just writing a file.

Sounds like you need some physical hands on Tech Service on the PC though.

I sometimes spend a long time diagnosing certain faults on a PC/Laptop. Is it RAM, HDD, Mobo etc etc, until I pin down the exact faulty piece of a computer. I have been looking into diagnostic kits to try and save me some time, They seem to vary in price from 30-1500. They all claim to be able to diagnose the exact hardware fault of a PC or laptop. My questions are, does anyone have any experience of these kits, if so do they actually work? And can anyone recommend a particular brand/model?

Sorry for writing a novel as a first post It all started with my PC running slow on the gaming frontier I forked out for a new gig stick of RAM and all was well until my PC had random complete shutdowns Entire power off no warning nothing like oldschool pc shutdowns bam off so I had a look inside the case to see fault locating Need hardware help if there was anything obvious like if I had bumped something but I accidentally hit the voltage switch and blew the PSU Next day I got a new off the shelf Need help locating hardware fault Thermaltake w everything was fine again until I started getting screen garble Big Florescent pink and green lines on a white back ground with an offset square where the mouse was So I tinkered with graphics settings and all but it still continued So next day I bought a new Radeon X Pro I don t have a question I m just bragging lt Kidding Need help locating hardware fault gt I threw in an old Gb HDD at the same time as the Vid card and again all was going well until I started playing UT and the sound goes funkadelic three distinct different tones repeating over and over I shut down the PC at the PSU and Need help locating hardware fault restart but it wont go further than post It comes through with Clockspeed and memory count but wouldn t go further I disconnected the old HDD and it went past post and seems fine The real question is Where could the real fault be and the point of origin What could I have done to the machine could the PSU have spiked other hardware Why would the HDD work fine until put under heavy access Are there likely to be any further faults Has anyone had this happen before nbsp

A:Need help locating hardware fault

1. Where could the real fault be, and the point of origin?: Well you replaced everything apart from the motherboard and RAM so they would be your best bets. Download memtest and test your RAM for a while with it. Not the Windows version but the DOS version. I think it is on Hirens boot CD. Also on the Ultimate boot CD wich you should be able to find through google

2. What could I have done to the machine, could the PSU have spiked other hardware?

Did you insult your computer or look at it **** eyed? It is not likely that the PSU spiked the hardware but it is more possible that the amount of amps that came through the PSU was to much for the rest of the components to handle

3. Why would the HDD work fine until put under heavy access?

Well the harddrive is a mechanical object. The more you push it the harder it works. The harder it works the more likely it is apparent to develop problems but this would only happen with a damaged or extremely old harddrive

4. Are there likely to be any further faults?

Well it is still not working correctly so you still have problems. The fact that that the motherboard beeps is an indication that something is upsetting your BIOS. It is quite possible that the motherboard is damaged. Or at least that your computer is overheating

5. Has anyone had this happen before?

I have had all of these problems but not all at once. Now this is a novel

Hello Right now I BSOD: Fault ?? Hardware am trying my best to keep my laptop running while I am posting this thread I have been victimized by relentless blue screens which I suspect is a result of some hardware problem I initially thought this was a Windows and or Virus problem BSOD: Hardware Fault ?? I posted a thread as well http forums techguy org virus-oth -extreme-system-slowdown-blue-screens htm l but I recently formatted and reinstalled Windows but the blue screens keep coming back I am using IBM Thinkpad R a model so pretty old by now It runs Intel Centrino GHz proc GB IDE hard disk it initially came with MB RAM but I upgraded it to GB Windows XP SP Here are the problems I am facing since last one month Extreme system slowdown while running two or MS Office files or Outlook or even two tabs on Google Chrome The mouse pointer tends to get stuck while moving on the screen as if my system is busy even when Task manager shows system usage between to times I face a slowdown I end up with a blue screen it mostly says something like A critical process thread has been stopped to stop further damage and a few error codes are X F X X A F DA X A C C X A CB C though the error codes change every time Also at times I get a blue screen while boot up that says Unmountable Disk and while running Windows I see Unknown Hard Error I showed my laptop to someone and he predicted that the MB RAM was causing the trouble and took it out but it still did not solve the problem The problem occurs instantly if I move my laptop from my desk to another location i e the moment I move it I get a blue screen I did run a memtest and it returned no errors Can anyone please help me figure out what s the problem I am living with it for more than a month now and its frustrating Thanks nbsp

A:BSOD: Hardware Fault ??

If moving it causes that kind of issue - I'd be looking at loose connections. DVD drive connection, AC adapter connections, Hard Drive connections.

It looks to me that you have done a very thorough job of fault diagnosis and i agree with your conclusion that the fault could well be with the CPU.

Hi I m having some issues with my PC and i am not sure what is wrong i have exhausted what knowledge i have to be honest A couple of weeks ago i was using my HDD related, Fault. Hardware maybe not? Unknown Maybe PC same as always and i got a crash i dont remember the exact nature Unknown Hardware Fault. Maybe HDD related, maybe not? now but Unknown Hardware Fault. Maybe HDD related, maybe not? i restarted the PC and when i did i was greeted with a black screen with a flashing cursor when i tried to boot I fiddled around with my hard drive configuration at this point disabling one then the other to see if Unknown Hardware Fault. Maybe HDD related, maybe not? i could get the GRUB loader to appear This didnt work but when i put both drives back in as they were before i could access GRUB again but it would throw up error Makes sense i messed around with the drive positioning so grub would be a bit confused It s from this point that things went really wrong I used a LIVE ubuntu CD to try and repair grub but found that my GB HDD was actually inaccessible due to a bad superblock Further inspection showed that both my HDD s were showing some level of corruption I ran SEATOOLS on both my drives in the hopes that at least an error code would get me an RMA The GB drive passed fine first time The GB drive did not it failed the long test due to some corrupt LBA s that it corrected It has passed the long test twice now without error I decided at this point just to cut my losses reformat the drives and start over This went relatively painlessly and once i was setup in ubuntu i got a reminder that my HDDs were failing This feature is notoriously over sensitive though so i investigated further The GB drive had reallocated sectors that were not present before and the GB drive has pending sector rewrites as well as uncorrectable errors also not present before I have been monitoring the drives since and there has been no increase in damage over the last couple of weeks I assume they both took some damage in the crash but have no idea how My issues now have become more pronounced In windows my mouse will slow down under periods of heavy usage and freeze or lag a lot Sometimes i boot up and my USB devices kb mouse wif dish need to be reconnected before windows will detect them When the mouse is lagging the computer also slows to an absolute crawl and becomes unusable whilst this is occuring Performance in d games has plummeted too my fps jumps widly from the maximum amount i know i should be getting all the way down to around a quarter of its full speed So what has happened My operating systems are both on the GB drive the one i figured had taken the least amount of damage I cant RMA these drives without a seatools code so am stuck with them for a while besides if the manufacturers tool passes them fine then they cant be that damaged right Are all the problems indicitive of hard drive errors I m thinking whatever caused my drives to frazzle in the first place might be responsible here All help appreciated sorry for long post nbsp

A:Unknown Hardware Fault. Maybe HDD related, maybe not?

Update:

Tried extracting an archive on the 250GB drive, went at 16MB/s, lagged my computer out like crazy and i had to forcibly close the extraction. Copied the files to my 320GB (copied at full speed btw) and extracted there at 40MB/s with no impact on my PC performance whatsoever.

Seems fairly obvious then that my 250GB is simply screwed? Is there anything i can do here? SMART only shows 34 reallocated sectors out of 36 that were available for remapping leaving 2 spare sectors still, it should not be behaving like this, should it?

A:Serious problem - is it a hardware fault or software ?

Sounds like the computer is not booting of the CD. You need to go into the BIOS setup when the computer first turns on, usually press F2 or DEL, and find the Boot Order. Make sure the Boot Order has the CD-ROM in the sequence before the hard drive. Then save and exit. Now when the computer starts with the XP CD in the drive it should come up and ask you to press any key to boot off the CD which is what you want to do. Then follow the onscreen instructions. You will probably want to do a new/clean install of XP so you will want to format the drive when asked.

Here's some installation guides:

Hi

Was getting the following error: "Hardware ID Missing, Windows cannot identify the device plugged into the ATA Controller 0"

To date I have carried out the following actions with no success:

1. Removed DVD and re-connected
2. Deleted ATA Controller 0 in Manage Device Manager and rebooted
3. Installed the latest driver and rebooted
4. Removed all motherboard connections and re-connected
5. Purchased replacement DVD drive and replaced

The DVD opens/closes correctly. When I boot into BIOS the DVD is present but listed as this in the Boot Menu:

CD/DVD \S[TKozp)CLD^D_ \S-L>3:H(-(PM)

God only knows what that means, but could be a good clue!!!

If anyone could please help it would be appreciated, many thanks in advance..

Hi folks My brother s computer recently bit the dust while he was at work much to my chagrin he leaves it hardware fault of BSODs assumed...? Variety - running almost continuously for no particularly reason Variety of BSODs - hardware fault assumed...? and in trying to fix it I ve uncovered various BSODs which come and go but invariably full XP refuses to load It dies either whilst loading or when you attempt to log in Safe mode boots but only after I already tinkered with a few things The spec is as follows Athlon FX GB RAM Leadtek GT GB Maxtor Asus A V Initially the computer wouldn t boot to XP at all but having disabled all but two of the USB ports underclocked the CPU multiplier to x and unplugged the DVD drive a CD writer remains safe mode now seems largely stable I was able to run a disk defrag but when networking is enabled it BSODs I ve run memtest and it comes up negative for errors I it continuously overnight and apparently no problems Some of the BSODs are NDIS sys nv mini sys USBPORT sys Haven t seen USBPORT sys since disabling most of the usbs and NDIS seems to be the most common cause combined with the added instability of network safe mode could the onboard LAN be at fault Otherwise I m suspicious it might be a PSU problem as this would explain the variety of errors and apparently unfaulty RAM Looking in the BIOS setup the VCORE seems to be fluctuating a little but having never checked before I don t know if this is normal The readings are as follows VCORE V -- gt V V -- gt V V -- gt Any suggestions as to how I might further test anything would be much appreciated Many thanks nbsp

Hi, and thank you for taking your time to help me

So each night I take my computer along with monitors etc. out of the power plug in the wall.
When I but the power plug back in to start the computer up, my keyboard instantly powers on, the same goes with my two monitors.
When I then turn on the computer nothing really happens. All of the fans and lights turn on (The MoBo fan spins insanely), but nothing comes on the monitor screen. The monitors keeps searching for a unit but won't find the computer.

Sometimes after waiting a few minutes the screen suddenly shows the startup of windows and I can use it normally.

I think it's an hardware related problem but I'm not entirely sure.
I use windows 10.

Hope you can help me

Hey this is my first time posting here but I'm familiar with BSOD's fault. hardware during Windows bootup, suspecting forums and such Well I might as well describe my problem I have a HP Pavilion dv ca laptop running Windows Vista Home Premium CPU AMD Turion X GHz Graphics Card NVIDIA GeForce Go M RAM Gb DDR Well Windows BSOD's during bootup, suspecting hardware fault. this all started out a few weeks ago I was busy doing my normal stuff browsing the web talking to my friends on Skype and listening to music in iTunes when I get a notification for an update to bring iTunes up to I did the update and the process went smoothly But then things started to go horribly wrong for me During the reboot sequence Vista blue screened and went into autorestart Unfortunately I was unable to make out what the message said During POST everything was fine but when Vista tried to boot up I chose start Windows Normally when it gave me the option to it blue screened yet again during this bootup and restarted So in a rut I quickly hit f and managed to get into boot options Naturally I tried to get into safe mode BUT that's when things started to get weird It tried to boot but I got absolutely no GUI at all Explorer exe somehow didn't load up properly or anything My mouse was working as the pointer was up and I could move it around and everything but behind it was just a black screen Nothing else at all Frustrated I hard rebooted and did a system restore BUT during the restore I chose a restore point that was set the day before it gave me a message saying that the restore point could not be used please use another one That was an odd one So I fiddled around with the different restore points until I found a good one that was set before the iTunes install But then this is when things got really weird Windows finally managed to boot properly and I could get into my desktop But then I noticed that the internet wasn't connecting I tried to connect manually but Windows kept saying that the dependency group service could not be started This was getting a little odd So I tried to start it manually by going into My Computer BUT when I tried to do that Windows told me that it couldn't start it up at all and then afterwards I got BSOD' yet again Frustrated and going through a horrible anxiety attack my schoolwork and personal files are on this laptop here and I'm not one for backing up on a regular basis I tried doing another system restore THIS time it seemed to have worked out ok cause now the services had managed to get working again I'm typing this up right now on said laptop because everything's stable at the moment However I'm suspecting that Windows won't boot up right if I do a restart and go through the whole cycle yet again leaving me in an anxious mess Since I have no idea where the BSOD report dump is I checked the reliability monitor and it gave me this http i photobucket com albums a ityReport jpg - Part http i photobucket com albums a ityReport jpg - Part http i photobucket com albums a ityReport jpg - Part http i photobucket com albums a ityReport jpg - Part So finally my question is what just happened How did iTunes do this DID iTunes do this Is my computer still properly stable Is a Vista reinstall in my future I need some help making sense out of my situation I appreciate you guys taking the time to read this

UPDATE: A friend of mine that's CompTIA A+ Certified took a look at the computer finally and ran some memtests; turns out that there was a bad stick of RAM that was doing this. I'm grabbing another 1 gig stick during the weekend, so that'll be fine now.

This topic can now be closed. :)

The ATI driver that is being blamed in the error pop up is for your graphics card but it could mean that your card is failing.

When you say "I rebuild my laptop every 30 days" what exactly do you do and what software are you using.

Windows and all Anti Virus software can be set to automatically update so you should not need to check either of them.

Follow this to post a few of the latest minidumps from the BSOD's so they can be analysed.

First locate your minidump files, they are usually found by clicking on your C: drive, in windows explorer, then click on Windows to view the contents. If your operating system is installed under a different drive letter then look there. They should be stored under a file called minidump. The files will have a .dmp extension.
Zip up at least 6 of the most recent files into one zip folder and save on your desktop (if there are less then just zip up what you have).
Below the reply box click on Go Advanced. Then scroll down until you see a button, Manage Attachments. Click on that and a popup-window opens.
Click on the Browse button, find the zip folder you made earlier and doubleclick on it.
Now click on the Upload button in the popup. When done, click on the Close this window button.
Enter your message-text, then click on Submit Message.Click to expand...

A:Computer Freezing for a short time (Hardware Fault)

Identical problem here.. hard drive light goes solid and pc just stops for 1 min, still able to move the mouse cursor but cannot slect anything or alt-tab etc. Any alt tab or double clicking is cached up and then all fired off at once when the minute freeze is up.

I'm pretty certain now it's down to my Asus P5K-E motherboard (which is what I assume the original poster has)

I'm looking towards M/Board now as I have swapped drives and changed CPU from Q6600 to Q8200 also switched from Vista 32bit to Win7 64bit and still get the issue.

I alleviated it for a while by switching my SATA 300 drive down to 150 mode by setting the jumpers.

Have flashed the P5K to the latest bios with no joy.

Full specs are..
Q8200 Quad
Asus P5K-E Wifi Premium
500GB Samsung SATA300
4GB Ram
lightscribe 20x DVDRW
Sony Bluray Drive (installed after problem had already appeared)
2 x ATI HD3870's in crossfire config.
Windows 7 64bit / WinXP dual boot.

i'm having trouble with a Dell Inspiron 600m laptop. when i try to start it, i get a blue screen with the error "PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA", etc.

i can't get it to boot fully to a desktop screen in normal mode or in safe mode. so i dont have a HJT log or any other log. is it possible this is a malware/trojan issue or is it a RAM problem?

i am able to get to the windows log-in box but then it briefly (1 or 2 seconds) shows the desktop and i get the error message above.

thanks.

ive been experiencing need identifying part fault; help the random hardware BSODs, suspected random BSODs since some - weeks first just a few came random BSODs, suspected hardware fault; need help identifying the part up then suddenly stopped for more than a random BSODs, suspected hardware fault; need help identifying the part week and then started again i have done lots of HDD RAM amp video memory checks and neither indicated any damage to these parts but since the BSODs are all memory-related i random BSODs, suspected hardware fault; need help identifying the part suspect it to be the CPU memory controller or something between the CPU and the RAM or maybe the chipset or the connection between the RAM slots and the motherboard one symptom that is very special is that occasionally usually right after a crash one of my RAM modules doesnt get detected anymore of course i tried reseating them both using just one in each slot and using totally different RAM modules just to exclude the chance that the RAM modules or one of the two slots became defective regarding the BSODs the majority is error B with atikmdag sys however after having completely removed all AMD software and drivers and registry keys and installed a previous version of CCC and the GPU driver which used to work perfectly before having installed the most recent one beta and before the BSODs started to occur the BSODs reoccured so it definitely is not related to the GPU drivers but they just seem to be the first to suffer from the errors my suspicion regarding the CPU memory controller or something on the motherboard is strenghtened by the fact that this notebook has always had major heat issues due to its internal design just one fan and suboptimal placement of the hottest parts inside so i fear the heat might have caused damage mostly around - C sometimes when stressed very much like during gaming the CPU throttles when reaching C and the GPU when reaching C ive been cleaning the inside of the notebook regularily each - weeks since ive gotten it years ago and already repasted the CPU amp GPU times about months in between last time was end of may which may suggest that something went wrong last time i did the repasting job usually after repasting the temps went down noticeably and only after some - months i needed to blow the inside and maybe clean it a bit for the first time the specs are following windows ultimate bit sp custom freshly installed right after purchase so no OEM OS and no upgrade HP Envy D ea notebook i qm ATI mobility radeon gb kingston hyperx ram x gb seagate momentus xt gb HD i know there is almost certainly no hope for this notebook anymore but since there is no real alternative i would be willing to buy at the moment i would like to keep it alive for some additional months if anyhow possible then id go for a HP zbook mobile wirkstation so maybe if we can narrow the issue down to a single part i might be able to buy this exact part and replace it if eg a new CPU would do it just to prolong the notebook for these months this would be great btw the notebook is not completely dead now i am writing this thread from it and i can mostly avoid any BSODs by just not stressing it too much by browsing too many windows tabs etc surprisingly when gaming it only crashed once so i think the stress and heat that gaming produces is not the right one to produce the errors but having several browser windows open and eg a youtube video this almost certainly crashes after a while i am uploading the jcgriff folder perfmon report and additionally most of the minidumps ive saved from the last weeks so you can see that it is not restricted to a specific driver there you can also see the dates of the minidumps and how there was a gap with no errors for more than a week note i have no full memory dumps because of limited space on my primary partition why i neither have system managed page file on my c partition if really needed i can turn it on temporarily so a full memory... A:random BSODs, suspected hardware fault; need help identifying the part

although i am quite sure this is a hardware issue, not a software/driver one, ive been running the driver verifier for some time now, and got some BSODs, so i am uploading them here now as well.

though as already said, i doubt this will help further, since the BSODs i get do not always recognize a driver, sometimes its just memory fault with no service identified, or in rare cases the system just turns off without a blue screen.

note: ive had the driver verifier select all installed drivers automatically, and not just non-microsoft ones, since quite often system kernel files such as win2k.sys are the ones mentioned in the BSOD.

I should have researched this issue more thoroughly before screaming for help. Apparently, this is a known issue between AVG 8 and other malware detectors like SpywareBlaster and SpyBot. Requested data was not in memory. An invalid system memory address was referenced. Defective memory (including main memory, L2 RAM cache, video RAM) or incompatible software (including remote control and antivirus software) might cause this Stop message, as may other hardware problems (e.g., incorrect SCSI termination or a flawed PCI card).

nv4.disp.dll is a Nvidia display driver. Try the following:

1. Download Driver Cleaner Pro or Driver Sweeper (both have free versions; make sure the version will work with your OS) to your desktop screen and install.

2. Download the latest diver(s) for your video card but don't install them.

3. Uninstall your video card drivers and reboot your PC into Safe Mode. Run Driver Cleaner Pro or Driver Sweeper but ONLY for the video card drivers. I had someone use it on their chipset drivers! If it doesn't find any video card drivers that is quite okay.

4. Reboot and install new video card drivers.

Hello and welcome to BleepingComputer. One or more of the identified infections is a backdoor trojan. You have a very severely infected system -- likely because of the lack of antivirus & firewall software. This allows hackers to remotely control your computer, steal critical system information and download and execute files.I would counsel you to disconnect this PC from the Internet immediately. If you do any banking or other financial transactions on the PC or if it should contain any other sensitive information, please get to a known clean computer and change all passwords where applicable, and it would be wise to contact those same financial institutions to apprise them of your situation.Though the trojan has been identified and can be killed, because of it's backdoor functionality, your PC is very likely compromised and there is no way to be sure your computer can ever again be trusted. Many experts in the security community believe that once infected with this type of trojan, the best course of action would be a reformat and reinstall of the OS. Please read these for more information:How Do I Handle Possible Identify Theft, Internet Fraud and CC Fraud? When Should I Format, How Should I ReinstallWe can clean this machine but I cannot guarantee it will be 100% secure afterwards. Let me know what you decide to do.

Hi I have a brand new XPS machine which hardware code down, shut itself BIOS or sleep XPS after Powers (9550) hibernate. issue on 15 or fault? I suppose may have a factory defect but I d like to try asking here and see if others have similar experiences before sending it to repair TL DR Issuing a shut down hibernate or start command makes the laptop go down Light from the power button goes away seconds later the power comes back on and the system starts up On delivery the laptop had Win Pro on it I want to have a clean install without the bloatware which is often shipped with new computers so I reinstalled it on the very first day with a USB stick prepared with Windows Pro install media on it Once installed I added the WLAN driver and let the machine get all other drivers via Windows update Once done I shut down the machine and put it in XPS 15 (9550) Powers itself on after shut down, sleep or hibernate. BIOS code issue or hardware fault? my bag So far so good I thought nbsp When i took it of of my bag I instantly noticed that it was hot and that the screen was already at the Windows logon as soon as I flipped up the screen Logged on and tried to shut it down just to realize that the machine comes back on seconds after completed shut down I tried this several times to see if it was repeatable and yes it is Behavior is same every time It s the same regardless of choosing shut down hibernate or sleep Always seconds after the light on power button goes out power comes back on BIOS wise or release behaves equal I have tried resetting the BIOS to factory defaults and BIOS defaults as XPS 15 (9550) Powers itself on after shut down, sleep or hibernate. BIOS code issue or hardware fault? well Operating system wise I ve tried reinstalling the machine with both the Microsoft install image The Microsoft tool that prepares a USB drive as Win installation media and the image supplied by Dell via the support pages No difference I ve tried to stay on drivers supplied by Windows update as well as manually installing everything from Dell support site No difference Findings from google refer to quot Fast boot quot setting in windows but I did not get any improvement from either settings of this I even went as far as tried to run Ubuntu on the laptop to see if the behavior is OS agnostic and yes it seems Shut down from the menu of the Ubuntu desktop gives the same result seconds after power led goes out the power returns Even when in the BIOS settings menu I can do a short press of the power button to request a shut down and reach the same result seconds after power led coming off system is by itself restarting The only way to shut down this computer is to do a long press on the power button If I do that the machine shuts down and stays off Last thing to share here is that inside the BIOS interface there is a power state log In there I can see that the system has powered off at a certain timestamp and that the associated reason is something like quot ACPI Power off quot or similar don t have the machine here at hand right now quot Immediately after that there is a power on event but the reason is listed as quot Not applicable quot I interpret this that there is something actually making a signal to the system to start up rather than a hardware fault Possibly a BIOS bug My patience is rather much consumed with this as I do not see any more things to try I think next stop is the workshop for this machine but I cannot be without it for the next week so I ll need to keep it with me some time still

Could you please upload the dmps for analysis?

You can try uninstalling your video card drivers and installing a fresh copy. Install only the drivers, not the Catalyst suite.

So for a long time now probably going on over a year I've been wrestling with my computer I should get a new one and just start from zero but I can't afford that right now so I'm hoping that I may be able to get some help here Essentially my computer crashes a lot sometimes randomly and sometimes with noticeable patterns It's sometimes a BSOD usually Memory Management sometimes Page Fault and I got a Driver IRQL a long time ago and sometimes it's just a flat hang with a stuttering sound repeating until I do Fault BSODs Multiple Page Memory and Management Crashes, and a hard reset Something I've noticed lately is it crashes more often when I have Multiple BSODs and Crashes, Memory Management and Page Fault flash player up for some reason or another but especially for streaming videos There's also been a couple of times where first firefox and or the flash plugin will crash then the PC will run for a bit but if I try to bring firefox back up it will hang or BSOD I've gotten crashes for other reasons though In addition sometimes when I start the PC up it won't post saying a BIOS checksum failed and that it can't detect a keyboard That's usually solved by restarting it once or twice more I've had other various errors in the past but that's the majority of it and what's been happening recently The following is the steps I've taken so far Run Memtest overnight and for hours at a time no errors Run various hard drive checking utilities no errors Run chkdsk on both hard drives I've gotten the occasional bad sector but hasn't changed crashes afterward Reinstalled Windows both repair and clean I've also done sfc scannow afterward and everything was fine Removed Daemontools Avast replaced with MSE and several other bad programs Run CCleaner and various registry fixing tools I've had registry errors but cleaning them hasn't helped Run Full virus and malware scans both originally with Avast then with MSE and also Malwarebytes no viruses Replaced the Motherboard Graphics Card and CPU at various points since the problems first started not always as an attempt to specifically fix it but worth mentioning Updated the BIOS on the replaced motherboard and replaced its battery Reinstalled Flash and kept it updated just in case No luck Similarly I've kept all my drivers up to date and use Windows Update regularly I'm at my wit's end trying to find a way to make my PC stable Any help or insight would be appreciated Logs attached per the forum instruction but that only has the last one due to the aforementioned reinstall and cleans If I get a new BSOD I'll update it

A:Multiple BSODs and Crashes, Memory Management and Page Fault

just analysed the .dmp files and what really concerned me was this bit at the endof the dump file:

IMAGE_NAME: memory_corruption

this and a few other things in there indicated possible corruppted memory, if this is the case I would reccomend backing up all files IMMEDIATELY and then, just to confirm what is happening, run memtest and get back to me with results

Hello, Laptop is continuously restarting with error- " Page fault in non paged area". serial no -> CND5132XYTModel      -> 15-r206TU New laptop was purchase just few months back from Croma CBD Belapur Mumbai India. Hardly we have used this laptop, as such laptop is very slow.  Is this problem with windows 10 OS or any driver update went wrong or any service/process/anti-virus is causing this issue? How can a new laptop give OS issue - this will be raised with consumer forum if HP does not help in resolving - we have purchased laptpop with huge cost. If OS needs to be reinstalled -> how do I get OS recovery DVD ? Question still remains -> how can HP sell faulty laptops - either help us in resolving issue or give new laptop. Thanks

A:Laptop crashes -> " Page fault in non paged area&quo...

A three-month-old laptop is not a new laptop.  You do have a warranty and can contact HP for support with the issue. The issue could be a bad memory module, some software,  an application you have installed, a  device driver or perhaps a Windows update.   Making any kind of threat in the forum is very bad form. I am sure that you are aware of that. As far as getting an OS DVD goes, you were supposed to use a USB flash drive and create recovery media. You should have read what the script told you when you set it up back when it was new. Since you did not, then purchasing recovery media from HP or an HP partner will be your least expensive option.   Be aware that this is the HP consumer forum and this is peer to peer support. This is not a business unit of HP and we are not HP employees. We are HP customers, just like yourself. If you want to get support directly from HP, then contact HP.

Could prevent in fault nonpaged you crashes BSOD/Page help of the diagnostic information needed so I'm asking for help on getting what I need to give you folks more information Here's the issue I've been experiencing system lockups Everything freezes and if any sound is playing it loops a quarter of a second of the sound over and over which usually sounds Could you help prevent crashes and BSOD/Page fault in nonpaged area? pretty freaky Because of this lockup NOTHING is being recorded - no minidumps no events Today however after the restart it went to a BSOD saying quot Page fault in nonpaged area quot and referenced winsys exe After doing research I Could you help prevent crashes and BSOD/Page fault in nonpaged area? realize this is a very generic error especially with no minidump to back it up After this error I Could you help prevent crashes and BSOD/Page fault in nonpaged area? could not even restart in safe mode I had to go to recovery and restore to the last healthy point During the times I attempted to restart it in safe mode I physically cleaned out my whole system and re-seated memory cards cables I did not take off my CPU and re-seat that I also switched out memory from sticks to sticks to stick following the user guide as to which slots to seat the memory No change and I still eventually had to go through the restore process As opposed to waiting until the next time it happens I'd like to take a more proactive approach get some information to you folks and see if there are any things that I can fix before I get the next crash Please let me know what diagnostics I can run to get more information As for now I can simply offer a dxdiag and the knowledge that I've run memtest for over an hour with no errors Also I have my computer connected to a UPS battery backup and a surge protector I've tried different configurations with that just surge protector just UPS surge then UPS UPS then surge direct to the wall different sockets and all configurations have had system lockups These crashes occur while browsing the web playing games even editing files in notepad Doesn't seem to have any specific trigger Thanks for your time

Next run MBAM (MalwareBytes):Please download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and save it to your desktop.Download Link 1Download Link 2MBAM may "make changes to your registry" as part of its disinfection routine. If using other security programs that detect registry changes (ie Spybot's Teatimer), they may interfere or alert you. Temporarily disable such programs or permit them to allow the changes.Make sure you are connected to the Internet.Double-click on mbam-setup.exe to install the application.
For instructions with screenshots, please refer to the How to use Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware Guide. When the installation begins, follow the prompts and do not make any changes to default settings. When installation has finished, make sure you leave both of these checked:Update Malwarebytes' Anti-MalwareLaunch Malwarebytes' Anti-MalwareThen click Finish.MBAM will automatically start and you will be asked to update the program before performing a scan.If an update is found, the program will automatically update itself. Press the OK button to close that box and continue. If you encounter any problems while downloading the definition updates, manually download them from here and just double-click on mbam-rules.exe to install. On the Scanner tab:Make sure the "Perform Quick Scan" option is selected. Then click on the Scan button. If asked to select the drives to scan, leave all the drives selected and click on the Start Scan button. The scan will begin and "Scan in progress" will show at the top. It may take some time to complete so please be patient. When the scan is finished, a message box will say "The scan completed successfully. Click 'Show Results' to display all objects found".Click OK to close the message box and continue with the removal process.Back at the main Scanner screen:Click on the Show Results button to see a list of any malware that was found.Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected. When removal is completed, a log report will open in Notepad. The log is automatically saved and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.Copy and paste the contents of that report in your next reply. Be sure to post the complete log to include the top portion which shows MBAM's database version and your operating system.Exit MBAM when done.Note: If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be asked to reboot your computer so MBAM can proceed with the disinfection process. If asked to restart the computer, please do so immediately. Failure to reboot normally (not into safe mode) will prevent MBAM from removing all the malware.

I've been having problems with the computer crashing, ever since I installed x64 a few weeks ago. I have eliminated some of the problems, but one in particular remains which is also the biggest annoyance. Some of the crash dumps indicate that there is a hardware problem, but does not specify exactly what hardware. However, I have noticed that the crashes occur most often when running something graphic intensive, so I have a hunch that my video card is the problem. It is still under warranty, but without something more than my hunch, I doubt that they will RMA it. Therefore, my question is how to pin this down, so that there is no doubt?

Before replacing any components my PC kept crashing without warning showing either a black screen or a light blue screen with horizontal lines. The advice I received suggested that it was my wireless adaptor that had no drivers yet for Windows 7.
Today I replaced that with a TP Link PCI wireless adaptor that temp runs on vista drivers as stated on it's website. I have also upgraded my graphics card from ATI HD3450 to HD4650. My PC has just crashed again. My cursor changed from an arrow to a vertical line then the screen frooze.
Has anyone any idea what the trouble might be?
Thanks. Robert.

System I not oc'd gig ram Gigabyte Motherboard GTX Power - Crashes or hardware software ? Supply is a Corsair Watt only about a year and a half old I am having trouble figuring out what may be causing Windows to crash It seems that it is fixed and then it isn't Here is what occurred Never had any issues with Windows Updated to around October st I didn't have any crashing with BF beta it was running on just standard Windows Upgraded to because it promised more Crashes - hardware or software ? performance Started to have hard crashes-system would just simply power off and restart mostly when a level was loading not during actual gameplay of Bf Normally I would say that is a power supply issue I purchased a new one over a week ago I didn't install it yet because I wasn't sure if that was the issue Here is the weird thing When I did a system restore after that started happening I wasn't having any crashes at all I would really be taxing the system on purpose I e running two virus scans while playing bf I literally joined over servers and could not recreate the crash I also did the system torture test with no issues I did the system ram test and it was fine I am not sure if the crashes were related to Malware which I found on my system Tonight it crashed twice I tried to do a system restore and all of my system restore points were gone But that will be fixed tomorrow The big question is what could be causing the crashes It seemed hardware related at first but it seemingly was fixed by software

A:Crashes - hardware or software ?

It could be your power supply because BF4 may force your CPU to use more power (also might do this to your GPU & RAM), with 700w you should be fine though but there is still that small chance it could be that. Does the new one have more power than the other one?

I freezes new hardware, New purchased an AMD FX -core processor With Hyper EVO CPU fan to replace my and an Asus Geforce GTX GB to replace a Radeon HD and upgraded GB of RAM to GB G Skill Rawjaws X My first issue was the computer would sometimes turn New hardware, new freezes on but would always ultimately lead to half of my motherboard working Asus M A R I solved this by replacing the Power Supply I went from a Corsair CX to a Corsair CX M which works wonderfully My newfound problem is the fact that my computer is now freezing on occasion Sometimes it'll freeze in min from start-up other times it takes a cpl hours but eventually it always freezes---then I have to hard power it down I downloaded driver booster which automatically checks up-to-date drivers for you to download so I don't believe it has anything to do with that I checked my RAM sticks by individually installing them and running them at a time the problem isn't here either ANY IDEAS Can anyone walk me through solving this mess Thank you all old software removed

If you are having problems like this and are absolutly sure your memory is fine, my money is on a faulty mobo. Your post says you ran your memory sticks one by one, i assume you used a diagnostic tool like memcheck86+? if not, i would reccomend you do that.

Ok...
I have an athlon 2000xp 1.637Ghz with 512mb ram. I have windows XP SP2.

My system keeps crashing and rebooting. Seems to happen randomly but maybe more when playing games. Fairly sure not spyware etc as have now reinstalled windows. I have a feeling it must be hardware related but don't know what. Have run memory checkers and the memory seems fine.

Event viewer log says:

Error code 100000d1, parameter1 fd4c0198, parameter2 00000002, parameter3 00000000, parameter4 f7e5775b.

This is for system error logs.

Also has quite a lot of disk errors: The device, DeviceHarddisk1D, has a bad block.

Have reformatted disk and run scan disk without any problems.

Thought it might be graphics card related and have tried various drivers but problem still there...

Any help greatly appreciated as its beyond me.

I have a Sony Vaio notebook, 2.4 MHz, 512 RAM, 30 Gig HD, Windows XP SP2.
It Starts to boot (shows Windows opening screen), then crashes and reboots. Safe mode too. All other operating systems booting off CD too - Ubuntu, Puppy, ... (Just to Win 98 DOS is OK)
Seems like it must be a hardware problem, But all hardware diagnostics find no errors: Diag - PC-Check 6.05, Burn in, Memtest86 3.2, Drive fitness test 4.08, ... (Thoroughly checks RAM, CPU, hard disk, motherboard,

What could be the problem? Can anything be done?

Many thanks,

This is something to breack your brain over I know the XP freezes or pro problem? hardware title sounds like a software issue and I posted on the wrong site but after you read this I think you agree with me that it looks more like a hardware XP pro freezes or hardware problem? problem I have a computer sitting here that does some real weird things here are the specs Asus board A A AMD Ghz Ram x MB x MB Gig Harddrive Win XP Pro For some time the Computer seemed to have a problem starting up and posting If it did it gave you error messages That indicated RAM and later Power Supply problems Not to mess around I have replaced all the RAM modules Installed a brand new and slightly upgradet PSU I swaped the PSI Videocard Soundcard and Network I replaced the ribbons and now I got the machine running It starts up posts and gets me to the welcome screen and to the Desktop So now here is what gets me Sometimes in the welcome screen or during boot up or in the middle working you can here a slight power drop inside my PC You can hear it by the fand speed dropping slightly From that point on the mouse and everything else is frozen up Nothing goes and it will not come back to normal Sometimes it does that in the first or minutes or after or minutes There is no set timing on this First thing I did I rebooted into Bios to check the CPU Temperature and it reads between C and Celsius So that is not the cause The CPU is cool enough By the way I did reset the CMOS I replaced the Battery and I did try to increase the Vcore Voltage by V with no result It keeps doing the same thing BIOS is up to date I am at the end of my wisdom if that ever existed Maybe somebody knows something that I dont know I am willing to learn I see that as a personal issue between man and machine and I want to win that one Lol Thank you for your help and Input theses nbsp

A:XP pro freezes or hardware problem?

59c is way to hot for that processor, should be around 32c.
It would certainly explain the lock ups.
Try giving the insides a good clean with an air duster and renewing the thermal grease on the cpu

Try updating to service pack 3. This could fix the problem. It should also show a lot more updates that need to be done.

A:Crashes and freezing, no BSOD, possible hardware issue?

Hi.

When we see the crash dump(s), we will most definitely have suggestions or answers for you.

Install the latest Win7-x64 lan driver from here:

http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/...Cbr%3ERTL8105E

If you're running AVG, completely uninstall that.

Hi guys I hardware due [SOLVED] unknown PC crashes, to problem? hope you can help me I've been having a problem for some time now My PC has been suffering from crashes which seem to occur when I am doing anything intense playing games installing software running full system virus scans etc It tends to happen about [SOLVED] PC crashes, due to unknown hardware problem? once or twice a day but more often if I try playing a game When [SOLVED] PC crashes, due to unknown hardware problem? the crash occurs everything freezes There is no blue screen or error code the screen simply freezes and I have to power off the PC manually by holding the power button in for several seconds Also incase its relevant - If I switch the PC back on a few seconds later the power and fans etc come on but the PC doesnt actually boot up and I have to switch off and on again This also sometimes happens if I do a normal reboot I think it is a hardware problem as I have run up to date virus and spyware scans and found nothing and I have done a complete system reinstall which did not solve anything I have tried unplugging all USB devices and swapped my memory but still no luck I guess this leaves graphics card sound card cpu motherboard and power supply as possible causes but I have no idea which is causing it If I knew I could replace the part but I would really rather not have to replace everything to solve the problem The problem seemed to start around the time I added GB of extra memory same make amp type as the GB I already had However I tried taking the new memory out and also taking the old memory out and only using the new but the crashes still occur I hope you can somehow help me find the cause then I can get it fixed System specs to follow
