Blue Screen,kernel-power ID 41 help :(

Q: Blue Screen,kernel-power ID 41 help :(

Hi.Two weeks ago i bought a new laptop :ASUS K52JB.I have installed windows 7 ultimate (x64).And so after two days a blue screen started to appear together with restart.I checked the eventviewer and I saw this message:
The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck. The bugcheck was: 0x0000004e (0x0000000000000099, 0x000000000004200d, 0x0000000000000000, 0x5d979e4e1f4d9296). A dump was saved in: C:\Windows\MEMORY.DMP. Report Id: 111710-18252-01.
And after the restart a window appear that says
'The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly.'
I did ram and hdd check and everything seems to be OK

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: Blue Screen,kernel-power ID 41 help :(

Please run this memory test to double check your memory: Memory Diagnostics (read the details at the link)

Please uninstall DaemonTools and/or Alcohol 120%, then use this free tool to remove the sptd.sys driver: DuplexSecure - FAQ - Remove 64 bit sptd.sys

It is possible that the following older drivers may be causing your problems.
Please either REMOVE or Update the older drivers listed below.

Quote:
HOW TO FIND DRIVERS:
DO NOT use Windows Update or the Update Driver function of Device Manager as they are not the most current versions available.
Also, DO NOT update from the PC Manufacturer's website unless the Driver Reference cited below states that you should get the drivers from the OEM.

The most common drivers are located on this page: Driver Reference
If you can't find the driver, post back and we'll see what we can find.

Here's the older drivers that were found in the memory dump files:

Code:

sncduvc.SYS Mon Dec 29 04:14:26 2008 (495894F2)
- Suyin USB 2.0 Webcam driver
- Driver Reference

ghaio.sys Mon May 30 05:34:05 2005 (429ADE0D)
- ASUS NB Probe program
- Driver Reference

More info about the STOP 0x4E error (shorthand for what you posted) is available here: BSOD Index
You also have STOP 0xD1 errors. More info on that error here: BSOD Index
Also STOP 0x1A, more info here: BSOD Index
Also STOP 0xA, more info here: BSOD Index
Also STOP 0x3B, more info here: BSOD Index
Also STOP 0xF5, more info here: BSOD Index
Also STOP 0x1E, more info here: BSOD Index

Most often a large number of different errors suggests a hardware problem (this one seems to point at memory). Running Driver Verifier may help us to narrow it down a bit. Please follow these instructions to run Driver Verifier:

Quote:
Using Driver Verifier is an iffy proposition. Most times it'll crash and it'll tell you what the driver is. But sometimes it'll crash and won't tell you the driver. Other times it'll crash before you can log in to Windows. If you can't get to Safe Mode, then you'll have to resort to offline editing of the registry to disable Driver Verifier.

So, I'd suggest that you first backup your stuff and then make sure you've got access to another computer so you can contact us if problems arise. Then make a System Restore point (so you can restore the system using the Vista/Win7 Startup Repair feature).

Then, here's the procedure:
- Go to Start and type in "verifier" (without the quotes) and press Enter
- Select "Create custom settings (for code developers)" and click "Next"
- Select "Select individual settings from a full list" and click "Next"
- Select everything EXCEPT FOR "Low Resource Simulation" and click "Next"
NOTE: You can use Low Resource Simulation if you'd like. From my limited experimentation it makes the BSOD's come faster.
- Select "Select driver names from a list" and click "Next"
Then select all drivers NOT provided by Microsoft and click "Next"
- Select "Finish" on the next page.

Reboot the system and wait for it to crash to the Blue Screen. Continue to use your system normally, and if you know what causes the crash, do that repeatedly. The objective here is to get the system to crash because Driver Verifier is stressing the drivers out. If it doesn't crash for you, then let it run for at least 36 hours of continuous operation (an estimate on my part).

Reboot into Windows (after the crash) and turn off Driver Verifier by going back in and selecting "Delete existing settings" on the first page, then locate and zip up the memory dump file and upload it with your next post.

If you can't get into Windows because it crashes too soon, try it in Safe Mode.
If you can't get into Safe Mode, try using System Restore from your installation DVD to set the system back to the previous restore point that you created.

If that doesn't work, post back and we'll have to see about fixing the registry entry off-line:

Code:
Delete these registry keys (works in XP, Vista, Win7):
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management\VerifyDrivers
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management\VerifyDriverLevel
More info on this at this link: Using Driver Verifier to identify issues with Windows drivers for advanced users

running windows 7 ultimate 64-bit. clean install, a hour later it would blue screen and reboot on its own. sometimes if i leave the computer running for the entire day, it wouldnt crash. i disabled hibernation, sleep, and hdd sleep. this is on a brand new custom built computer. (my friend's pc also has the same specs except for the video card) but he says he never experienced bsod. i also have a old belkin surge protector that's almost 10 years old, could that be the culprit? here are the dumps and the text file from blue screen view.

A:Blue Screen - kernel power event id 41

Do a search here and on the Windows 7 Forum on Kernel power ID 41. Their seems to be many having this show up on the Event Viewer. I have not seen anyone figure it out yet. I am also getting this after a BSOD .......Peter

Please uninstall all Orb programs from your system, including Orb Networks as they
are contributing towards your BSOD's.

Your Trusteer Rapport Security may be causing issues and may need updating,
it may also be conflicting with Norton.

I would suggest uninstalling Norton, as it hogs resources and causes a lot of BSOD issues.

As an alternative, please download and install:

Microsoft Security Essentials.
Recommended from a strict BSOD perspective, compatibility & stability
compared to other antiviruses/internet security software.

   Note
Once downloaded, update and run a full system scan

STOP F4 can also be related to HDD issues, usually storage.
They can also be related to RAM and virus infection :

Test your hard drive. Perform a Hard Drive Diagnostic

Scan the system for possible virus infection:

Post a screenshot of your hard drive using Crystal Disk Info:

Take memtest. Run for 8 passes, test each stick in a know good slot for an additional 6 passes:

   Tip
Run these tests overnight, pay particular attention to #3 in tutorial if errors occur

Aim to update your storage controller drivers as they are all very old (2009)

Post back any results.

These were caused byt sbapifs.sys. Sbapifs.sys is related to SBAPIFS Active Protection Driver. Mfr sunbelt

Simply, you should un-install it.

You also have a hardware problem but that may simply be becasue of the sbapifs.

How do I get rid of that annoying blue screen?

A:Can't get rid of that kernel message blue screen

What kind of error u get when BSOD appears? The error should look like 0x000000xx (where xx is a combination of letters and numbers like 7B or AA for ex.)

The Blue Screen of Death (also known as a stop error, BSoD, bluescreen, or Blue Screen of Doom) is a colloquialism used for the error screen displayed by some operating systems, most notably Microsoft Windows, after encountering a critical system error which can cause the system to shut down to prevent irreversable damage to the system's integrity. It serves to present information for diagnostic purposes that was collected as the operating system issued a bug check. (wikipedia definition).

You have a big problem, and I think you need to know the error code from your BSOD to fix the problem.

Seeing a frequent number of BSOD's recently, but they aren't exactly blue screens. Sometimes the screen will get all artifacty (can see windows behind the colors/rainbow that is going on), but cannot interact with them. Sometimes PC will restart itself or other times it needs to be hard shut down. Every time upon restart I get a "Computer Recovered from Serious Error". Error upon restart (via Event Viewer) is Kernel-Power 41 (Task: 63). All requested files are attached in ZIP file.

? OS: Windows 7 x86

A:Screen Artifacts Then Kernel-Power 41 (63) BSOD

Hi,

Your graphics driver atikmdag.sys is blamed for most of your BSODs.

It could do with an update:

Code:

atikmdag.sys Fri Apr 24 22:50:20 2009 (49F1996C)

See if you can find an update - AMD Graphics Drivers & Software

If updating the driver doesn't work, chances are we have a graphics hardware issue.

Reventon

Ok I just found my Nivida drivers were updated by windows on the 8th May - around the time this all started... Funny thing is it updated them as 9 series cards not 8 series cards W.T.F.... I've just updated the correct drivers and will try and see if that helps....

Running XP Pro...this just started mid-day today when I when to check email in Outlook. It never fully opened but gave me the blue screen with the Kernel Stack InPage Error. I don't know how to capture the entire page...but at the bottom was: Stop: 0X00000077. (Somewhat similar to Megs0567 message). When I tried to run an Ad-Aware scan it only got part way into it before going to the blue screen. I tried again in Safe Mode but same result. I'm suprised to find the browser working - because other applications won't run. I'm running AVG and Windows Defender as well. Yesterday a "UniBlue Registry Booster" appeared on my desktop and I suspect that in a chaotic moment I "accepted" an offer.

Where do I begin?

A:BLue screen: Kernel Stack InPage Error

I don't believe Uniblue is a rouge program. You have to agree to it. That said, these is a slim possibility it could be malware related. Hello and thanks for viewing this thread A few days ago Windows XP Home started giving me trouble when I booted my computer Sometimes it Kernel blue Drivers?) screen Exception (Nvidia Mode would just hang forever on the Kernel Mode Exception blue screen (Nvidia Drivers?) launch screen and sometimes it would briefly flash a quot Kernel Mode Exception Not Handled quot blue screen before instantly restarting the computer I was able to successfully boot into Windows a few times but about minutes later the screen would become scrambled suddenly and the computer would inevitably lock up I researched this issue some and found it to be related to driver errors I piddled around in safe mode for a while and tried to figure things out but I decided it would be easier to just do a fresh install of Windows since I had reformatted a little over a month earlier and had very little to back up After doing a fresh install I was reinstalling my drivers and the same Nvidia display drivers that I ve used since I built this computer years ago started causing the same problem I was having before I booted into safe mode and uninstalled them and the problem was fixed Then I tried installing a newer version of the drivers and the same problem happened Since I bought this computer this error has never occurred so I would be grateful if anyone here could shed some light on what might be going on Thanks in advance nbsp

A:Kernel Mode Exception blue screen (Nvidia Drivers?)

do a fresh install of Windows since I had reformatted a little over a month earlier and had very little to back up. After doing a fresh install,Click to expand...

In view of the above have you now on this new install installed the motherboard drivers - chipset etc and all updates, especially SP3.
re graphics as far as I can see 258.96 is the recommended driver for that card on your system
http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp-258.96-whql-driver.html
Do you now have a Minidump from the crash AFTER this new install, if so have you examined the dump file and also do you have any warnings in device manager, including on hidden devices.

If necessary - disable restart on failure and post the full Error and parameters.

May find that Who crashed will supply the analysis of the minidump if you have one.
http://www.resplendence.com/whocrashed

simply install and click analyse.

Please post the results, of the who crashed analysis as they appear, not in a file that I have to open,.
Finally if you already have the mentioned driver or you install it here are the full rlease notes with all known hiccups.
http://us.download.nvidia.com/Windows/258.96/258.96_WinXP_Desktop_Release_Notes.pdf
Also I notice that the motherboard includes full testing facilities and stress tests, in the event of no progress with above I would be inclined to run those

A:Inspiron Blue Screen Kernel Data Inpage Error

Hi,

Wow, this sounds like a very big problem.

From MSDN:

Quote:

The KERNEL_DATA_INPAGE_ERROR bug check has a value of 0x0000007A. This bug check indicates that the requested page of kernel data from the paging file could not be read into memory.

That along with the loud beeps leads me to first suspect that the hard drive may be failing. Even if it is not the case, please back up all your important data in case it should stop working altogether.

Next thing I want you to do is run chkdsk /r.

From Microsoft:

Quote:

# Double-click My Computer, and then right-click the hard disk that you want to check.
# Click Properties, and then click Tools.
# Under Error-checking, click Check Now. A dialog box that shows the Check disk options is displayed,
# Use one of the following procedures:

* To run Chkdsk in read-only mode, click Start.
* To repair errors without scanning the volume for bad sectors, select the Automatically fix file system errors check box, and then click Start.
* To repair errors, locate bad sectors, and recover readable information, select the Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors check box, and then click Start.

Choose the option in bold.

This is to see if there are any errors on the disk and try to fix them.

Have you run any scans?
Perhaps sfc /scannow from the command prompt as the administrator would be a starting point.
Do you have the installation disk(s)?

Good evening. I am not very technical but am good at following instructions. I would be very grateful if someone can tell me if this error can be corrected? It has been happening for about 3 weeks now. I have run chkdsk & also windows memory diagnostic which showed no errors. It doesn't seem to happen if I use safe mode. I am very fond of my Samsung RV511 laptop & don't want to replace it. Thank you to anyone who can help me with this.

I'll be sure to repost the logs in this thread when I crash next.

I starting having black screens while playing Starcraft II and eventually they started to occur at seemingly random times (surfing the internet, and other non-taxing things). The system will hard hang and the only way to shut down is to hold the power button. I've tried to check that there weren't multiple drivers of the same type running as well as many other forum suggestions.

I've replaced the bones of my system in hopes that one of the core hardware pieces was causing the issue, and it hasn't helped. I've replaced the Mobo, CPU, and RAM (to what is in my system specs). I thought I solved the problem when I unplugged all hard drives except for the OS drive as I hadn't had a crash in days and today I was playing Skyrim and BAM - black screen and hard hang.

When it boots up I get a message mentioning that the overclocking failed - but I haven't set up any overclocking or done anything to the system. I set the BIOS to default and then windows boots up fine. I also never got that message with my old mobo/ram/cpu.

I'm at a loss as to what's causing this headache. Thanks for any help!

No DMP files included in upload please try this method
We do need the DMP file as it contains the only record of the sequence of events leading up to the crash, what drivers were loaded, and what was responsible.

You may be able to get the DMP files without crashing by booting into safe mode (F8) with networking.

To enable us to assist you with your computer's BSOD symptoms, upload the contents of your "\Windows\Minidump" folder.

The procedure:

* Copy the contents of \Windows\Minidump to another (temporary) location somewhere on your machine.
* Zip up the copy.
* Attach the ZIP archive to your post using the "paperclip" (file attachments) button.
*If the files are too large please upload them to a file sharing service like "Rapidshare" and put a link to them in your reply.
To ensure minidumps are enabled:

* Go to Start, in the Search Box type: sysdm.cpl, press Enter.
* Under the Advanced tab, click on the Startup and Recovery Settings... button.
* Ensure that Automatically restart is unchecked.
* Under the Write Debugging Information header select Small memory dump (256 kB) in the dropdown box (the 256kb varies).
* Ensure that the Small Dump Directory is listed as %systemroot%\Minidump.
* OK your way out.
* Reboot if changes have been made.

Please uninstall Gigabyte software, it is known for causing bluescreens and uses a few old drivers.

Please change the system language to english, this helps me understanding the files as I can't understand french.

Diagnostic Test

 DRIVER VERIFIER

   Warning
Please make a backup of your important files and get your rescue media or create one.
Please create a restore point.
Please follow this tutorial to run driver verifier.

Driver verifier stresses your drivers and will crash your pc if any driver fails due to a violation.

Driver verifier should be performed for a max of 48 hours, or when you have a bluescreen, whatever comes first.

If driver verifier has found a violation and you can't get back into windows normally, try to boot into safe mode and reset in safe mode driver verifier, or in the troubleshooting options open command prompt and type verifier /reset.

   Note
Your system will act very sluggishly while driver verifier is enabled, this is normal as your drivers will be being subjected to heavy testing in order to make them crash.

Hello As the title says, I have this blue screen with that error, the strange thing is this error occurs every time when I'm not working the pc, for example if I leave my pc for 10 minutes or less without working on it, it crashes and restarts, so about 98% of the time it happens when I'm not working, but sometimes it does occur when I'm working on the pc.

I don't know much of what I should provide but I heard it's a good idea to include the files in the minidump folder and here they are:

https://mega.co.nz/#!60ohnCqS!9Pw38m...F18R7V-XrAONXI

I also tried to check the ram and disk and it says they're fine! also updated the drivers using drive booster 2 and still.

Also note it also can happen when it's in lock screen! meaning even when there're no programs running!

This shut down occurs ONLY when I am using 3 peripheral usb devices simultaeously and it doesn't happen right away. Sometimes it's an hour and sometimes it's several hours before it crashes. Now there is an executive program that is controlling all of the usb devices, if that makes any difference or not. It never happens any other time. The zip file from your dmp log application is attached.

MULTIPLE_IRP_COMPLETE_REQUESTS (44)
A driver has requested that an IRP be completed (IoCompleteRequest()), but
the packet has already been completed. This is a tough bug to find because
the easiest case, a driver actually attempted to complete its own packet
twice, is generally not what happened. Rather, two separate drivers each
believe that they own the packet, and each attempts to complete it. The
first actually works, and the second fails. Tracking down which drivers
in the system actually did this is difficult, generally because the trails
of the first driver have been covered by the second. However, the driver
stack for the current request can be found by examining the DeviceObject
fields in each of the stack locations.

Recently I installed a new game on my computer (Far Cry 3), and after a while playing it, my computer suddenly shut down, just like a power outtage (except the power was not out).

After debating with friends, I went more towards a hardware problem rather than a software problem, so I thought something could have too high temperature (CPU, GPU, the HDD, etc.).

I have two HDD's, and they used to be together, but I decided to separate them, to reduce their average temperature.

I installed a software called CPUID HWMonitor, and it shows me these values (when browsing and not playing the refered game):

Note that this has happened before with previous games (Neverwinter and Guild Wars 2), and I'm still not sure whether this is a hardware or software problem, since separating both HDD didn't solve the problem.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Both are avira related. So better you uninstall Avira. At least as a try. Use Microsoft Security Essentials as your antivirus with windows inbuilt firewall, and free MBAM as the on demand scanner.
Download, install and update those, and then run full system scans with both of them, one by one.

Uninstall MagicISO.

Hi,

Am new here but long-time Windows uses since Win95.
Currently have a DELL E6530 and it gave me a BSOD Event 41 Error while on batteries! Looking around Google and other forums, this transpires to be a PSU related problem, but it's a laptop, and was running on batteries at the time the BSOD happened. System was idling at the time. Running Win 7 Pro 64, as supplied by DELL.

Thanks in advance for any input...

Kind regards

Follow the instructions here: Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) Posting Instructions

Without dump files, nobody can help you as to the cause of your shutdown.

The kernel power event ID 41 error occurs when the computer is shut down, or it restarts unexpectedly.

Hope someone here can help with this!

I have a Windows 2000 Professional install that has had no problems since installation. However in the last few weeks, powerpoint slide shows have been causing it to blue screen.
It does'nt happen everytime propably 4 out of every 5 times you try to display the presentation.
Im using Powerpoint 2000 as part of MS office 2000. I have tried reapplying Win 2k service pack 2 and the office 2k service pack 2.
I have also tried removing and re-installing office and applying all the latest updates from microsoft.com.
I tried opening the running the slide show logged in to the same pc as another user, this also failed. The only way I can run the slide shows reliably is on another PC.
Any ideas before I format the PC and start again?

Cheers

A:Power point blue screen

My first suggestion would be to remove all programs from the start up and clean the hard drive.

Instructions can be found at

www.rselby.com/Windows.html

Follow all the instructions followed by the 3 red *'s in the table of contents. The resources are probaby low and Power Point Presentatin will use a lot of resources causing it to blue screen.

Second thing I would try if this doesn't work is try the detect and repair in PP, listed under Help.

AND Welcome to TSG!~!!

Hi Guys,

My laptop (Gateway MT3705) has some problem when it is running on battery power.
It runs on Windows Vista Home Premium, here is its spec: http://www.notebookreview.com/default.asp?newsID=3499&review=Gateway+MT3705

When my laptop is running on battery, a blue screen comes up at random times and reboots my computer. This is really annoying, and I am afraid that it will cost damage to my hard drive.

The laptop is completely fine when it is plugged-in, no blue screens or whatnot.

I have no idea what is going on, any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

I have tried using safe mode but am unable to it brings me right back to the blue screen. I was wondering if anyone had some suggestions or a fix to the problem. I would really appreciate it, thanks.

Never a good sign. Here is Microsoft's help. Scroll down to the part about damaged file system since you didn't just install XP. BTW - the error codes that you get with the blue screen are important in diagnosing this problem.

Hi everyone,

i am really needing help. I have just bought a new pc, its just about 2 weeks old now....i am running 64bit vista ultimate. The problem is, whenever i click on the power icon ( the little cicle with vertical line on top of it ), my computer would go to "sleep" mode which is fine...but then when i "wake" my pc again, it would probably run for about 10 seconds maximum ( usually 5 seconds or so ), then it would give me blue screen then it would restarts. I would then have to choose if want to load windows normally or safe mode.

I am not tech savvy and i really need help on this one. I really want my new system to be stable for my line of work.

has anyone know the solution to this?

Thank you very much in advance for any help.

Cheers,

Fabian

A:Power icon causes blue screen

Hi fabianloing

If you click the vista start orb and in the search bar type Power Options then hit enter this will open a new window. Click the circle that says High Performance and then underneath that click the Change plan settings.

Then click Change advanced power settings. A new window will open and you then click on Power button and lid. Then click on Start menu power button and change the setting to Shut down. Click Apply then OK

On the power options window that still open click Save changes then close that window and reboot your pc

Hi Guys,

I'm currently suffering from a random power shutdown issue. The PC boots up correctly and is totally useable and in working order.

However after different varied amounts of time. 20mins - 5 hours on occasion. The PC will just randomly power down as if the power cable has been removed.

I am getting the following error within Event Viewer 'Event 41, Kernel-Power' - "The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly."

I have checked all power settings and have currently set to High Performance Mode, with Hard disks 'Never' to turn off etc.

After suggestions and help as to what may be causing this issue.

Thanks in advance,

A:Random Power Down Issue - 'Event 41, Kernel-Power'

If this were a desktop machine my first question would be "How old is your power supply?"
If this is the Compaq laptop shown in your specs, I am wondering if the connection to your battery is not as good as it should be. I'd double-check the contacts or connections. There may be a loose or broken wire, or even a failing connection inside the battery itself if it's old.

A:BSODs after possible power failure - Kernel-Power Event ID:41

Your .dmp file shows a stop error of 0x124 which is a general hardware error .

Quote:
A "stop 0x124" is fundamentally different to many other types of bluescreens because it stems from a hardware complaint.

Stop 0x124 minidumps contain very little practical information, and it is therefore necessary to approach the problem as a case of hardware in an unknown state of distress

Some generic advice.

If you are overclocking STOP. Return to the default settings at least for now.
If you are running a RAID update its driver.

When I turn on my computer, a blank blue screen comes up and remains.  The startup sequence does not initiate and the computer will turn off after a minute or so.  Hitting the esc key after power-on gets me to the "Choose an Option" page.  From "Advanced Options", I have tried "System Restore" and "Startup Repair" neither fixed the problem.  Unable to boot in safe mode or change any of the startup settings because the system startup (restart) sequence is broken. A hard system reset did not work and pushing the F2 Key does not bring up the sys diag page. At this point, it seems that the only options left are trying to boot from a USB device or doing a PC Reset (keep my files)? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

I have a Medion P54016 MD20315 64bit PC.
A couple of weeks ago my screen froze but after switching it off it started again OK.
However it has reached the stage where the screen came up with “Your PC ran into a problem and needs to restart. We are just collecting some error information and then we’ll restart for you.” but nothing happens so I switched off.
It has now got to the stage where if I switch on the mains input blue light on the PC is still on and does not go off even when I keep switching it off at the mains input.
I have seen that this is likely to be Blue screen BOSD but I am at a loss as to what to do.
Any help would be much appreciated.

There was a power outage/spike for one second today, all the lights fliped off and back on, reset all electric devices. I was using my computer at the time. when it went to restart while on the starting windows screen it stops, blue screens.

the screen says BAD_SYSTEM_CONFIG_INFO

I ran a chkdsk in the cmd of the repair partition. all checks came back ok.

I reseated everything in my case.

I tried booting from a bootable usb to repair windows and was unable to boot from it.

Im assuming something is broken and I will obviously need to get a better surge protector or a ups. Though the hd seems the most logical thing to be broken the chkdsk comming back ok leaves me with no ideas.

any help would be appreciated.

A:Power blip - Blue screen on startup

Reboot or turn on the machine. As soon as you see your machine's name logo splash screen keep tapping F8. Go to "Advanced Options" or "Repair Computer" Select your language then "Repair Your Computer" An installation of Windows should be detected after that select "Next"

If that does not fix the issue. Do the same as before go to Next again go to command prompt type in

Code:

CHKDSK C: /R
Go to Memtest86+ download the ISO image then burn it to a blank cd using Imgburn (how to burn an ISO image to cd using Imgburn) burn at lowest speed. With the newly burned cd and one RAM module at a time, boot with the cd and run at least 7 passes errors will be in RED

Repeat the process with each RAM Module at a time.

Downloading UBCD which is in my signature.Burn the ISO Image to a blank CD using Imgburn (How to burn a ISO Image using Imgburn) burn at lowest speed. With the newly burned cd boot with the cd go to HDD>Diagnostics>The make and model of your hard drive, Seagate, Maxtor, Drive Fitness which is Hitachi, Or Western Digital. Perform a short and long test. Could also be called "Standard" and "Extended" test or also "Comprehensive" test. The Seagate HDD diagnostics tools will work on most hard drives.

If you can not find the right test for your hard drive your OEM computer may have it's own hard drive diagnostics testing tool. Refer to your OEM computer documentation to find out how to access these test. Also try going to the manufacture of your machine to find documentation about it. Also consider going to the manufacture of your hard drive to look to see if they have hard drive diagnostics test. The ideal test or method would include an ISO that could be burned via an image to a cd which would be made bootable.

As per both files your issue is with the Nvidia driver nvllddmkm.sys If we here at TechSpot received a dollar for every time this driver came up we could all retire. Go to Asus' website, find your exact notebook model and update the drivers from there.

Only the screen comes on for 1 minute- can't get anything when we try to power on. :dead: Unplugged everything, replugged it, tried combinations. Just before this, the system would run a debugging program that would freeze everything up. Mom was getting the blue screen before, but she found out that switching the power surge off, then on, fixed the problem. Sorry, I'm new to this site but was hoping for some info because everyone wants to charge her $80 to $100 just to discuss the problem, not to fix it. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks.

A:BLUE SCREEN: please check signal; no power, won't boot

Sounds like a bad power supply or a power problem that has damaged the motherboard.

Every so often my computer crashes out with a debug error and I am struggling to find where the issue is coming from. Over the past few weeks I have tested my RAM which came out clean re-seated the CPU, power cables, graphic cards, tried with one or both graphic cards, have the most up to date drivers but have rolled back and tested with older drivers for many of the components but the same error still pops up.

Please see the error information I have provided as an attachment, as I require some help with eradicating the problem for good.

Thanks in advance

A:Blue Screen DRIVER POWER STATE FAILURE

Hi darnapkin,

You should have a look at the BSOD posting instructions, and run the applications listed there and get back to us with all that information.

Meanwhile I've looked through this specific one, error code is:

Code:
BugCheck 9F, {3, fffffa8009657060, fffff800044423d8, fffffa800a36ec60}
*** WARNING: Unable to verify timestamp for asmthub3.sys
*** ERROR: Module load completed but symbols could not be loaded for asmthub3.sys
Probably caused by : asmthub3.sys
BUGCHECK_STR: 0x9F
PROCESS_NAME: System
The driver you're using:

Code:
asmtxhci.sys Wed Dec 08 10:14:06 2010 (4CFF5A6E)
Driver belongs to an USB hub, please update the drivers for this one at the manufactures website here.

Also please update this driver:

Code:
lirsgt.sys Sat Mar 06 19:53:01 2004 (404A2C1D)
Driver belongs to a CopyProtect application, manufacturers site found here. It's dated to 2004 which is way before Windows 7 was created. This shouldn't be used. Either uninstall it or update it.

As I said, if you need more information; I need you to run the applications from the BSOD posting instructions thread.

But you're welcome to try the other things I mentioned first.

A:Blue Screen with DRIVER POWER STATE FAILURE

Hi Safyz and welcome to TSF.

Could you give us your full system specs so we can see what we are working with. If you are unsure what your specs are, download and run Speccy, then when it's generated the information (about 10 seconds) go File>Save Snapshot, and attach that .speccy file as well. (You will need to zip it to attach it here: Right click on it and select 'Send To'>'Compressed (zipped) Folder'.

Could you also tell us what PSU (Powers Supply Unit) you have and what wattage it is. To find this out, turn off the computer and open it up and look for a label on it. It should tell you the make and wattage there.

Also, next time you boot the machine can you:

Window Key+R and type msconfig and hit OK.
Under 'Services tab', tick 'Hide all Microsoft Services' and then uncheck the remaining programs and 'Apply'
Then under 'Startup tab' - Uncheck anything not Microsoft related then 'Apply' and OK

Could you also let me know if you have recently installed any new programs or hardware. What anti-virus are you running?

Hello!

I just bought a new Toshiba laptop on Saturday and I'm already having a bit of a problem. I've searched this out on Google already and it seems most people have this occur in a different situation than I do.

Twice now, I've gotten this blue screen that says "Power Driver State Failure."

It's happened while I was online or today just while I was writing an essay for my college class.

I've made sure everything is updated but I'm pretty sure I shouldn't be having problems so soon.

Can anyone help me out?

Any suggestions would be really really appreciated.

A:Driver power state failure - Blue Screen

Hi jlampila,

We can try few troubleshooting steps to isolate the issue between hardware/software:

To check if it is related to hardware, run the built-in diagnostics provided by the manufacturer on the computer to check if the hardware is working fine.

If diagnostics passes then it could be related to a driver problem.

You can configure the windows to ensure that minidump files are created, please follow the steps mentioned in the link: Dump Files - Configure Windows to Create on BSOD - Windows 7 Forums

With this information we can help: Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) Posting Instructions

Please post the results.

Your storage controller (iastor) is causing memory corruption.

You should update its driver and download and run memtestx86, run it for 5 passes to test your memory

Let us know if you need help

A:laptop blue screen of death, now wont power on

I'd start by making sure the power adapter is working and the jack on the laptop has not broken - as is common.

Then I'd try re-seating the memory or try the memory one at a time if there's more then one stick.

You could also have them remove the battery and try it just on AC power and vice versus.

A:Power State Drive Failure and Blue Screen

Hello Hot Rod Todd,
This was caused by "sbp2port.sys", do you have any firewire bits on your PC, an ipod, or camera ?.
This sbp2port.sys works with the 1394 storage support, so if you have any devices connected to your PC, disconnect them and try it, if all goes well, you will need to update your drivers.

The tuner is actually a YUAN DVB-T/Analog Hybried TV Tuner, but TOSHIBA OEM. And, Toshiba does not have any driver for that device that can work with Windows 7. Have a look here: Support :: Toshiba :: Computers, Laptops/Notebooks, Tablets, Televisions, DVD and Blu-Ray Players, Camcorders, Storage, Accessories, and more

Hi Toni1974 & Welcome to the forums ^_^,

Unfortunately, the file uploaded by you does not contain the Dump files for us to analyse. You would have to manually upload the Dump files. The Dump files are located at "C:\Windows\Minidumps". Please make sure that you ZIP the Dump files before uploading.

Let me know how it goes ^_^.

Your mini-dumps seem to be pointing at the driver file: vwifibus.sys which is your Virtual WiFi bus driver:

Driver Reference Table

Please make sure you have all the Windows 8 Updates until you can install no more.

I have found a number of drivers you should update or un-install/remove if un-needed as these can also be the cause of your BSODs:

iaStor.sys - Intel Storage Drivers - Driver Reference Table
mwlPSDFilter.sys, mwlPSDVDisk.sys, mwlPSDNServ.sys - EgisTec Inc. Fingerprint Biometrics: Driver Reference Table
bScsiMSa.sys - Broadcom Memory Stick Driver: bscsimsa.sys - What is bscsimsa.sys ?
b57xdbd.sys - Broadcom xD Picture Card Bus Driver: b57xdbd.sys - What is b57xdbd.sys ?
b57xdmp.sys - Broadcom xD Picture Card Miniport Driver: b57xdmp.sys - What is b57xdmp.sys ?
ETD.sys - ELAN PS/2 Port Smart Pad: Driver Reference Table
UBHelper.sys - NTI CD &DVD-Maker or NTI Backup NOW! or NTI CD-Maker by NewTech Infosystems (usually in Acer Empowering Technology): Driver Reference Table
NTIDrvr.sys - NTI CD-ROM Filter Driver by NewTech Infosystems (likely a part of Acer Empowering Technology): Driver Reference Table
IntcDAud.sys - Intel Graphics Media Accelerator HD Driver: Driver Reference Table
TurboB.sys - Intel Turbo Boost Driver: Driver Reference Table

You might also want to make sure your Acer is fully updated to the Windows 8 64 bit drivers. This includes chipset/motherboard and others: http://global-download.acer.com/File...iveUpdater.exe

I've noticed that your BIOS version is 1.05 and the latest appears to be 1.13 or 2.09 (for windows 7 upgrades). You might consider upgrading this as a last resort but please follow all manufacturers precautions before doing so as any errors may make your system inoperable.

-cheers

A:Blue screen power driver failure error in Windows 7 64-bit

Is Windows 7 updates to SP1 and beyond including all the optional updates. Do you see any yellow exclamation points in the device manger? Was another version of Windows installed on this computer first? Do you have daemon tools installed?

Hey guys, just a shot in the dark question, but:

I put a fresh install of windows 7 64-bit on this PC I built for my sister, and everything appears to go fine. However, after updating the bios, and installing the gfx card drivers, she tells me that when she presses the power on button, she gets a blue screen, the computer reboots, and then everything is fine.

Ideas as to what that might mean? If this is too little to go on, I'll head over there asap and go through the whole process, I just want a starting point.

Thank you for your time

Small edit: the system specs of my profile are the ones for her computer.

A:Press power button, blue screen after beep, then fine.

Check for a dump report. If you have one post it.
