BSOD on start up after fresh install.

Q: BSOD on start up after fresh install.

Hello, my computer is about 2 years old. It first came with Windows vista 64. A few months ago I got a hold of a copy of windows 7 pro 32, so I wanted to check it out, even If I was going to take a hit on ram. Well now I have Windows 7 Ultimate 64, but after doing a fresh install I kept getting BSOD after the windows logo. I was able to complete the setup after removing all my ram except for one stick. The same problem persists after setup. I can boot up in safe mode just fine with all of my ram.

System Specs:
Operating System: Debug Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit (6.1, Build 7601)
System Manufacturer: Gateway
System Model: LX6810-01
BIOS: Default System BIOS
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Quad CPU Q8200 @ 2.33GHz (4 CPUs), ~2.3GHz
Memory: 8192MB RAM

Preferred Solution: BSOD on start up after fresh install.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Please update all drivers for your system from the system's support site: http://support.gateway.com/us/en/pro...1&modelId=2308. The following drivers are pre-Windows 7 and may cause problems with Windows running properly. Especially recommend updating your RAID driver and chipset drivers. For the chipset and all Intel drivers, use the Intel? Driver Update Utility. All other drivers may be found via the links below.

A:Fresh install on Fresh SSD of 8.1, restarts into BSOD

Hi MitchellTyner,

First, I looked up your motherboard and it does not formally support any OS beyond Windows 7 so that could be an issue right off the bat; however, if you are running the latest BIOS, you could try and set your BIOS to default values and try that clean install without the 7870 first. Then, if it works, you could try installing the 7870 thereafter. BTW, good luck in finding all the correct drivers for your older hardware as well.

I just added a new SSD drive and installed a fresh copy of Win 7 Enterprise. I have had a previous driver issue with this system in the past. The amazing people on this site helped me work it out. Now for the life I just can't seem to sort it out again myself this time.

I ran and uploaded the SF_Diagnostic info in zip file format.

Thank you for any help that can be given.

I just put a new computer together with brand new hardware and after installing Windows 7 64bit, I get strange system corrupt errors when booting. It normally attempts to do a start up repair, which of course fails.

Hardware:
Intel Core i3 530
Intel BOXDH55TC mATX
OCZ DDR3 2X2GB DDR3-1333 PC3-10666 CL 9-9-9-20
Corsair VX450 450W ATX

I've reinstalled the operating system over 10 times by now, and keep getting the same errors upon start up. I've also tried installing on a spare hard drive with no change.

Errors include:
- Windows\System32 is corrupt or unreadable
- Missing or corrupt driver tcpip.sys
- Missing or corrupt driver FC_Res.sys
- Missing or corrupt driver vsadmin.sys (something like that)

I tried booting into safemode, but it won't let me because I can't get into windows normally to complete the installation.

Create a boot log in msconfig>Boot so you can see what driver is hanging.

Check also the Performance log on Advanced Tools page accessed by clicking the link next to your WEI score. Generate a System Health Report and look for issues cued on that page.

Google repeat errors in Performance log and in Event Viewer>Admin View.

A:Fresh Win7 install randomly won't start/new HDD

Compare the install you did with the perfect install compiled in Clean Reinstall Windows 7.

In the final step it explains how to determine which Dell partitions to keep - essentially all should be deleted during the booted install except the utility partition if it will still run Dell Hardware Diagnostics from F12 Menu which I would run now to test and check the hardware. Sometimes there are diagnostics in two places on F12 menu: Diagnostics and in the Utility Partition itself.

If hard drive test passes then also run a full Disk Check

Maybe I should also mention, that I either pulled the drivers from there Hardware sites and if I did not, then I used Hp site. So, I have the latest intel chipset from intel, latest intel wifi from intel and latest nvidia drivers from nvidia website.

There are only like 4 or 5 things starting up. Few of them are nvida driver stuff, MS essientials, touchpad software & can't remember the other two.

This may be another issue, but I have noticed every since I have put Win7 on, while it boots, I get a pop in my speakers??

Hi, what's your current build number?
(Windows key + R, type winver)

I'm using latest 1607 anniversary - bear in mind MS keeps making changes to the start menu (yet another reason I never use it personally!).

Your 2nd screenshot does show 'show more tiles'. This is what I have:

Some differences suggest you have an older version of Windows.
If you have build 1511, upgrading could deal with any issues, assuming no new ones appear- as some have found!

Current tile size options appear to be based on x2. (I recall when x3 was available).

Internal HDD was erased and our intent was to install a fresh copy of Windows10.  Bootable USB media works on other machines as well as the Z Book, but just after the Windows10 Setup starts, it asks for drivers for some device(s?) in the notebook.  It doesn't say what drivers are needed and Windows10 setup can't continue without them, apparently.I think this is a G2 model, if not a G1.What drivers could i possibly need? And where could I get those drivers in the proper format that Windows would accept?

My computer is like 1 and half year old, never had problem with him, just little one - PC accepted only 4Gigs of ram instead of 8 (read plz Hardware reserved RAM (1/2 of 8GB)).
OLD INFORMATIONS WHEN I HAD WINDOWS 7:

I get random BSOD "error codes" or rarely PC restarts, with different reasons, mostly while not playing any game. I didn't change any components for a long time, and didnt installed new drivers. (It couldn't be cuz theyre old, some games I played then and now without them updating, so nothin with drivers I guess...)

Few days ago, I reinstalled my WIN 7 x64 to WIN 8.1 x64.
Next day, i got BSOD....

hello
please check my sf file

up BSOD using chrome and fresh start win 8.1

A:BSOD using chrome and fresh start win 8.1

Your dumpfile is probably caused by NETIO.SYS ( NETIO!StreamInvokeCalloutAndNormalizeAction+1fa ).

Also in your stacktext is tcpip mentioned.

This points to a networkrelated problem.

You have the following driver kvnet fffff801`17600000 fffff801`1760d000 Thu Jun 21 16:10:52 2012 (4fe32b6c) 00009bac kvnet.sys
The driver kvnet.sys is belonging to product Kerio Virtual Network Adapter (Vista amd64) and is from june 2012. This driver predates windows 8/8.1 and is probably not compatible. Please update to a windows 8.1 compatible driver or remove/uninstall kerio Virtual network Adapter.

I have an .iso file that I need to place onto a DVD to serve as the OS boot disc. My DVD-R is in my Mac. So i need to burn this .iso file on the mac but have it boot the PC..

What is the proper file extension for the dvd file? is there anything I need to do that I'm missing?

Windows 7 x64 Ultimate, not OEM. Hardware is 8 months old, OS was freshly reinstalled 3 days ago. Based on the most recent dump this appears to be related to my Linksys WMP54gs and a possible incompatibility with Windows 7. I have already RMA'd my RAM and the new modules passed a mem test.
The OS drive passed a diagnostic test as well.
The blue screens tend to occur when browsing the internet. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks

Actually two of these point to your broadcom wireless driver bcmwi664.sys. I would reinstall that and see how it goes. There is a hardware problem of some sort but until you fix the wifi driver we cant tell for sure

My PC has been down for a while now and I've gotten the chance to fix it again. It broke when the hard drive became corrupted and kept on giving BSODs (don't remember the error code for those times). I got a new hard drive and installed it fine but I get BSODs about halfway through an install of windows 7 or 8 (I've tried both incase it was a disc problem) The error I get is a ntfs.sys one and the rest of the error screen is attached,

A:BSOD on Fresh Install

This is a BSOD related to the file system (NTFS) on the hard drive.
I'd suggest running these free, bootable hardware diagnostics:  http://www.carrona.org/initdiag.html

Seems like you did everything else try and run diagnostics on the HDD Download the ISO image for SEAtools for DOS and burn the image with IMGBurn in my signature and boot off of the newly created CD and run the Quick and the Advanced tests on the drive. You can also download the ISO Image for Memtest in my signature and burn the image to CD using IMGBurn and boot off of the that CD with one stick of RAM in at a time and run the test on each stick of RAM separately. If all comes up clean then you can also try using a different PSU.

Just did a fresh install a couple days ago, and still getting multiple BSOD`s. I have basicly just let the rig sit there with the power on to see if it was stable. It was not....

I have not installed any drivers or anything myself. Just webbrowsers, spotify and fan control software from ASrock

I sure hope someone is able to understand what is going on :)

My hardware is a few years old, but have not been acting up like this before.

hi all, i was getting a random bsod prior to a clean install and it is still here.
steps
ran memtest on each stick of rm for 4 passes with no errors.
updated all drivers
latest bios installed

attached are the files listed on the bsod posting instructions these are prior to driver verifier running.

i will update with the driver verified dump files after the next bsod.

A:bsod after fresh install

One crash blames video driver. Other than that I don't see anything that sticks up. All your drivers appear up to date.

I will wait to see if verifier catches anything.

In the meantime, please re-run memtest. This time let it run on all sticks for 7-8 passes
Memtest86 - Run for 7-8 passes - RAM - Test with Memtest86+ - Windows 7 Forums

Also run Prime95
Prime95 - Run all three tests for 3-4 hours each or until fail - http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials...t-prime95.html

Do this after running verifier; not while it is running.

I just installed a new SSD yesterday. I did a fresh install of windows and formatted my previous hard drive to use as a storage drive.

It worked fine all day without an error. I started her up tonight and got a PFN_LIST_ERROR BSOD. I understand that installing a new SSD can have issues, so I want to pinpoint what this issue is so that I can nip it in the bud now and not have to worry about it later.

Attatched are the files requested, as well as the original dump.

A:BSOD new SSD fresh install

Hi -

The system crashed just 2 seconds after boot-up.

From the partition info, it appears to me that both the 120 GB OCZ-AGILITY3 SSD and the 1 TB ST31000524AS SATA HDD have Windows OS installed.

Disconnect the HDD; reinstall Windows 7 onto the SSD.

A:BSOD after fresh install

I would guess that it's more than just a "fresh install" because the software that's causing your problem is DVB Dream. I googled it & it's a program that allows you to watch satellite TV on your computer. It's not a part of Windows so you must have installed it afterwards. Either that or you have a modified Windows installation disc.

Hi, I reformatted and installed a fresh copy of Win7 Pro x64 on my PC because it was having BSOD issues and then reinstalled my chipset, network, and audio drivers. Not long after installing only those things I experienced another BSOD. I'm not sure what caused it but I'm 100% sure its not my RAM or my processors. Ive run Memtest 86+ multiple times for over 7 passes as well as a stress test on my CPU which ran for 6 hours with no problems. The problem that came up was a 7f. Here is the dump and thank you for your time!

A:BSOD after Fresh Install

Hello zyon1989,The BlueScreenView report is varied and can implicate many causes.Memtest86: I tested my 2 rams separately both in the 2 slots they were located, all passed up to 9 tests without any errorsI hope you meant "9 passes" as 9 tests aren't even one pass. For moderate confidence in the memory, I would recommend running the test for 12 hours (overnight). There should be no errors reported.Shckdsk: in step 4 it replaced 2 files: replaced bad clusters in file ...Let's have a look at that Check Disk report:In the search box type "Event" and click on "Event Viewer" in top column.Click on "Windows Logs" -->"Application." Click the "Source" tab ( top, right) to alphabetize that column.Arrow down to "Winlogon" and select the most recent Check Disk report.Double click on it and select the "Copy" button. This will copy the report to the clipboard.Copy this into your next post.To help us get a better look at your computer hardware, please follow the instructions below to "Publish a Snapshot" of your system using Speccy.http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic323892.html/page__p__1797792#entry1797792Below is for those who cannot get online:Please take caution when attaching a text file to your post if you cannot copy/paste the link, per above instructions. I just did a fresh install of Windows 7 Professional 32bit. Everything seems to be going fine, but shortly after I log in (anywhere from 15 seconds, to a couple of minutes), it BSOD's.

I can boot into safe mode fine without this happening.

The only odd thing I've noticed, is if I open up Internet Explorer, that causes a BSOD almost immediately.

Attached my log, thanks!

hi,

I installed win 8.1 pro and i got kernel_security_check_faulire eror. Now every time after i do any operation my computer restarts. I was getting those bsod problems in win 7 ultimate too but wanted to put 8.1 before i resolve problem.

thx for help in advance

A:BSOD-fresh install win 8.1 pro....

If you had BSOD problems in Win7 and now you have them in 8.1, a hardware problem is likely.
Please start with these free diagnostics: Hardware Diagnostics

Additionally, this system is old enough that it may not be capable of running Win8.1. You may be better off going back to Win7 and troubleshooting from there (post over at Windows 7 Help Forums )

Your BIOS dates from 2009. Please check at the manufacturer's website to see if there are any BIOS updates available for your system. Also check the readme file to see if they apply to the problems that you are having. Please be advised that flashing the BIOS is a very unforgiving process - and one mistake can physically damage your motherboard. If possible, use the "inside Windows" flash mechanism (if your OEM provides one).

Only 7 Windows Updates installed. Most systems have 60 to 90 or more. Please visit Windows Update and get ALL available updates (it may take several trips to get them all).

Don't worry about the specific number, it's just important that you have checked and installed any updates that were available.

The lone dump file is corrupted. Please do this:

Upload Dump Files:
NOTE: If using a disk cleaning utility, please stop using it while we are troubleshooting your issues.
Please go to C:\Windows\Minidump and zip up the contents of the folder. Then upload/attach the .zip file with your next post.
Left click on the first minidump file.
Hold down the "Shift" key and left click on the last minidump file.
Right click on the blue highlighted area and select "Send to"
Select "Compressed (zipped) folder" and note where the folder is saved.
Upload that .zip file with your next post.

If you have issues with "Access Denied" errors, try copying the files to your desktop and zipping them up from there. If it still won't let you zip them up, post back for further advice.

If you don't have anything in that folder, please check in C:\Windows for a file named MEMORY.DMP. If you find it, zip it up and upload it to a free file hosting service. Then post the link to it in your topic so that we can download it.

Also, search your entire hard drive for files ending in .dmp, .mdmp, and .hdmp. Zip up any that you find and upload them with your next post.

Then, follow the directions here to set your system for Minidumps (much smaller than the MEMORY.DMP file): Set MiniDumpMore info on dump file options here: Overview of memory dump file options for Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows Server 2003, Windows Vista, Windows Server 2008, Windows 7, and Windows Server 2008 R2

Ok

Where to start

1-SPTD.SYS. used in alcohol/daemon tools is hideous for BSOD's

ASACPI.sys Sun Mar 27 22:30:36 2005

Quote:
The 2005 version of this driver is a known BSOD cause.
Please visit this link: ASUSTeK Computer Inc.-Support- download_item_mkt
Scroll down to the Utilities category, then scroll down to the "ATK0110 driver for WindowsXP/Vista/Windows 7 32&64-bit " (it's about the 8th item down).
Download and install it.
Go to C:\Windows\System32\drivers to check and make sure that the ASACPI.sys file is date stamped from 2009 or 2010 (NOT 2005).

2-Your VB compiler.

This is what caused this crash.

3-AV and firewall. We recommend Microsoft Security Essentials and win 7

4-Memory

Just to be sure I would run memtestDownload a copy of Memtest86 and burn the ISO to a CD using Iso Recorder or another ISO burning program. Boot from the CD, and leave it running for at least 5 or 6 passes.
Just remember, any time Memtest reports errors, it can be either bad RAM or a bad motherboard slot. Test the sticks individually, and if you find a good one, test it in all slots.

I recently installed Windows 7 Ultimate 64 Bit onto a partition on my harddrive. I didn't do a clean install due to needing a few things from a beta install of Windows 7 32 bit on another partition.

Currently, the computer runs fine, other than when running flash (through youtube) or bitlord it seems to get the bsod. I'm currently only using firefox with the newest flash plugins installed due to no 64 bit support yet. I've only installed the drivers that windows 7 has given me along with:

Adobe Creative Suite
Aim 7
K-Lite Codec
Magic Disc
Magic Iso Maker

I installed an SSD and put a new copy of win 7 pro on it, within a day it crashed. I rarely ever see the BSOD, I usually see the windows has recovered from an unexpected error screen.

The new installation only has a few application installed, mostly just window updates, microsoft security essentials, steam.

I ran memtest and didnt come up with any errors.

My friend has an HP Media Center PC. It had Vista x86 installed when he bought it about 2-3 years ago. It ran fine for a long time but recently began getting the BSOD randomly. He thought it may have been too many antivirus programs along with poor maintenance of it. So he bought Windows7, but doesn't know enough about computers to do it himself so he had me do it. I installed Win7 x86 and installed TrendMicro antivirus, which he also has on his laptop, so he wanted that on his desktop as well. I also installed Office 2003 and a few other progs (firefox, adobe reader, flash.. basic stuff). It still randomly goes to BSOD. I followed your instructions, and am posting the zip file you request.

A:BSOD on fresh install

The volume dirty flag is set on the hard disk.
Try this:

Quote:

CHKDSK /R /F:
Run CHKDSK /R /F from an elevated (Run as adminstrator) Command Prompt. Please do this for each hard drive on your system.
When it tells you it can't do it right now - and asks you if you'd like to do it at the next reboot - answer Y (for Yes) and press Enter. Then reboot and let the test run. It may take a while for it to run, but keep an occasional eye on it to see if it generates any errors. See "CHKDSK LogFile" below in order to check the results of the test.

Elevated Command Prompt:
Go to Start and type in "cmd.exe" (without the quotes)
At the top of the Search Box, right click on Cmd.exe and select "Run as administrator"

CHKDSK LogFile:
Go to Start and type in "eventvwr.msc" (without the quotes) and press Enter
Expand the Windows logs heading, then select the Application log file entry.
Double click on the Source column header.
Scroll down the list until you find the Chkdsk entry (wininit for Win7) (winlogon for XP).
Copy/paste the results into your next post.

Then run another copy of the perfmon report to see if it's still mentioned there.
If so, then try this:

Quote:

H/W Diagnostics:
Please start by running these bootable hardware diagnostics:
http://www.carrona.org/memdiag.html (read the details at the link)
http://www.carrona.org/hddiag.html (read the details at the link)

Also, please run one of these free, independent online malware scans to ensure that your current protection hasn't been compromised: http://www.carrona.org/malware.html (read the details at the link)

There are a couple of Windows Updates missing from your system, please visit Windows Update and get all the updates available for your system.

Please update your modem drivers and your network drivers (the wired one's built into your system's nVidia nForce chipset) as they are dated from 2008

9 memory dumps
6 different BSOD error codes, blaming at least 4 different causes
This is most likely a hardware problem (so running the diagnostics above is essential).

One of the memory dump files blames Vsapint.sys - a driver file from company Trend Micro Inc. Please do the following:

Quote:

Anti-Virus Removal:
Please do the following:
- download a free antivirus for testing purposes: http://www.carrona.org/freeav.html
- uninstall the Trend Micro from your system (you can reinstall it, if so desired, when we're done troubleshooting)
- remove any remnants of Trend Micro using this free tool: http://esupport.trendmicro.com/1/How...n-my-comp.aspx
- IMMEDIATELY install and update the free antivirus
- check to see if this fixes the BSOD's

I am installing Windows XP on my machine after the old hard drive crashed Have a brand new hard drive nothing on it I think see below for explanation My system was overheating and I installed a new BSOD install during fresh fan and after the first boot after installing the new fan the computer would reset itself when attempting to start Windows I was only able to get it to run in fail-safe settings in the BIOS This made makes no BSOD during fresh install sense to me as it was running fine before that It runs fine with proper voltage settings from a bootable Knoppix CD I can access the internet use X-windows without a hitch I lived with the voltage issue for a bit before the hard drive died it was years old and had been swapping almost constantly due to low RAM There were no other issues with the computer except it would not boot with proper voltage settings I have a brand new GB PATA WD drive and when I went to install XP Home it got to the point where it says Setup is now starting Windows and then crashed to a BSOD with the error message quot DRIVER IRQL NOT LESS OR EQUAL quot I tried to run the install in fail-safe and again it still had no issue I was able to get to the part where it asks if I want to install repair or quit so I would possibly be able to install if I were to choose to live with that issue Restarted tried proper settings in the BIOS double checked the jumper on the mbd Chaintech CT- NJL and it's correct this time it gave me an error that said quot An attempt was made to write to read only memory STOP x BE quot with the file sbp port sys listed at the bottom Research shows this to be an IEEE controller file yet there is no IEEE port on the mbd Most of the information I found about this error refers to issues with an existing installation of Windows I have not yet done that However there is one oddity the computer no longer boots to 'INVALID SYSTEM DISK' if I don't have a bootable CD in it now just attempts to boot from CD then stops and doesn't do anything at all The hard drive is recognized by the BIOS it does not share the Primary IDE controller with any other hardware I don't know what other information to include here as I am completely and utterly confused by this Any help would be appreciated If any information I have found is erroneous please let me know as well

Hello fellow PC users

I recently installed Windows 8.1 Pro x64 and the correct up to date drivers for my hardware. I experience a BSOD, it doesn't go into the BSOD right away but after 15-30 minutes of use I get the BSOD with the "page fault in nonpaged area" message.

I have attached my debugfiles and hope that someone much brighter than me in deciphering these files can lend me a hand at fixing this issue.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Found out it was my new Panda Cloud Free Antivirus. I deleted the POS and installed something else, now no more BSODs.

Hi DamZe & Welcome to the forums ^_^,

Thanks for posting back the solution ^_^.

If you uninstalled the product directly then please make sure that you run this **TOOL** so that the leftover files are deleted of the Panda Cloud AV.

Hi guys and gals,

I've been breaking my head above this issue for quite a few days now and spent some hours behind our favourite search engine to no avail.

Basically I've bought a Tyan Thunder K7X Pro Dual Athlon MP mobo with 2x CPU and 3GB RAM off Ebay and spent the pas few days trying to install XP on this piece of $%$%^.

Fresh installs of XP BSOD with the codes 0x0000007B 0xF78DA524 0xC0000034.

I have tried several known working IDE harddisks and quite a few SCSI ones too, powered by an Adaptec 2940 adapter. All of them BSOD the same way. All Google references point to SATA problems... I have none, only the onboard IDE adapters.

My IDE disks are primary master and my IDE DVD-ROM is secondary master. I have no PCI/AGP cards in my system.

Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Hi I hope someone can give me a hint A friend of mine has brought me an Acer Aspire with Vista Ultimate pre charged It didn't 8E with BSOD install: Fresh start in normal mode showing a BSOD with a STOP x E No further information about which driver caused it I was able to run in safe mode just to save documents Fresh install: BSOD with 8E in a pen drive A fresh installation led to nothing again the same error So I pressed Alt-F on boot to roll back the system It activates a first hidden Fresh install: BSOD with 8E partition formats the second one and install the standard condition with original drivers But after a reboot after the first start up message again the same error Now I can't enter in normal mode for the E error and it doesn't allow me to enter in safe mode as the installation looks like incomplete Memtest detected nothing I took away the first hd and installed my XP sp into the second one It loads all the original drivers but the ones of the video card a nVidia GO If I try to install them it crashes in a E error Despite of it it runs in x x M though it moves the windows slowly the rest goes fine From there I was able to catch the mini dump from the partition of Vista I'd appreciate any hint thanks

We can't get as much information as we'd like to from that text file. The above link will provide us with information about your system and the minidumps themselves.

The only thing that I can see is that the problem was caused by nvlddmkm.sys, but can't yet see if it is actually the problem of if it was something else.

First off I think it's my graphic card drivers that have been giving me problems so in a another BSOD for and install now Fresh one I while get a fresh install I hoped to fix that but I had one BSOD last night I would be thankful if someone could have a quick look at my dumps It says I'm BSOD for a while now Fresh install and I get another one not using a virus program in the file but I am using Microsoft Security Essentials and MalwareBytes Installed my Drivers in Driver Genius Operating System bit Windows Retail Using a Radeon Hd Who Crashed gave me this This was probably caused by the following module ntoskrnl exe nt x Bugcheck code x B xC xFFFFF A xFFFFF FE A x Error SYSTEM SERVICE EXCEPTION file path C Windows system ntoskrnl exe product Microsoft Windows Operating System company Microsoft Corporation description NT Kernel amp System Bug check description This indicates that an exception happened BSOD for a while now Fresh install and I get another one while executing a routine that transitions from non-privileged code to privileged code This appears to be a typical software driver bug and is not likely to be caused by a hardware problem The crash took place in the Windows kernel Possibly this problem is caused by another driver which cannot be identified at this time

Just had another BSOD whilst watching a Video on my pc.

On Sat 08/10/2011 13:06:44 GMT your computer crashed
crash dump file: C:\Windows\Minidump\100811-36613-01.dmp
uptime: 00:33:28
This was probably caused by the following module: ntoskrnl.exe (nt+0x7CC40)
Bugcheck code: 0x1A (0x41287, 0x0, 0x0, 0x0)
Error: MEMORY_MANAGEMENT
file path: C:\Windows\system32\ntoskrnl.exe
product: Microsoft? Windows? Operating System
company: Microsoft Corporation
description: NT Kernel & System
Bug check description: This indicates that a severe memory management error occurred.
This might be a case of memory corruption. More often memory corruption happens because of software errors in buggy drivers, not because of faulty RAM modules.
The crash took place in the Windows kernel. Possibly this problem is caused by another driver which cannot be identified at this time.

Hi,

I have a Lenovo Windows 7 64bit Computer where I'm getting a BSOD. I've attached the file if someone can help me determine what is causing the crash. I uninstalled and reinstalled the software but I'm wondering if it has something to do with QuickBooks - I see there are error messages in the event log about menu itmes missing.

Hi Casanova89 and Welcome to the Forum.

STOP 0x0000004E: PFN_LIST_CORRUPT
Usual causes: Device driver, ?memory

Your latest dump file indicates memory corruption as the probable cause which usually indicates out of date Drivers or Bad Memory.
Old and incompatible drivers can and do cause issues with Windows 7, often giving false error codes.

As a Priority:

ASACPI.sys Mon Mar 28 03:30:36 2005 This driver is notorious for causing BSOD's. There is an update here: Asus ATK0110 driver. Look under the sub-heading: Utilities. Approx. 12th one down.

Driver Install - Manual method
Download the driver and extract it to a folder
Open the Device Manager
Right click the device you wish to change the drivers for. You can select Properties > Driver > Driver Details to check you have the right device.
Choose Update Driver Software.
Select Browse My Computer For Driver Software.
Select Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer.
Select Have disk...
Select Browse..
Navigate to the extracted folder and double click on the .inf file
Hit OK, then Next and the driver(s) will then begin to install.

Hi all,

I'm getting pretty desperate... I have a new Sony Vaio laptop on which I installed a clean Windows and all original drivers. As I kept getting BSODs I decided to do a fresh install, but now I get BSODs even without any drivers installed.

Could anyone check this minidump to try and find out what is causing this? Don't feel like tossing out a brand new laptop...

Thanks a bunch!

I was instructed by the PC shop to re-install windows 7 after they were unable to find any hardware problems which were causing my system to BSOD or randomly reboot.

Today I did a fresh install of Windows 7 Pro 64-bit, Office 2010 and install all important security updates. Within hrs of completing the installation my system has BSOD twice, for different reasons each time.

I would like some ammunition before heading back to the PC shop.

Any help in resolving this would be great.

Uploading dump collection for both crashes.

Also uploaded windows debug output.

Thanks

There is a high probability that your CPU is defective, are you overlocking?
Dumps directly blame a hardware fault in your CPU, i would recommend that you replace it
Stop 0x124 - what it means and what to try

   Information
Go to your motherboard's website and check your version of your BIOS. See if there are any problems you are having that are solved by a a later version. I do not often recommend flashing the BIOS because there is a risk involved. If there is problem addressed by a BIOS that applies to your computer, consider flashing your BIOS to the latest version. If you choose to do this, flash you BIOS outside of Windows.

Run Prime 95 again to test your CPU and your ram. Carefully the instructions in this tutorial: CPU - Stress Test with Prime95. Run 3 separate tests, one on each of the settings (Blend, Small FFTs, Large FFTs). Post back with your results.

Hello. I'm working on my cousins computer. Upon starting windows i catch a BSOD 75% of the time. Other times it will freeze on the "Starting Windows" screen.

I've used UBCD to format the HDD
I've used UBCD Memtest86 - Test passed
I've tried using the system restore disk provided by the manufacturer
I've physically inspected the computer and have reseated power cables and RAM

Boot into safe mode (or boot from win 7dvd) and find DMP files to upload to us.

To enable us to assist you with your computer's BSOD symptoms, upload the contents of your "\Windows\Minidump" folder.

The procedure:

* Copy the contents of \Windows\Minidump to another (temporary) location somewhere on your machine.
* Zip up the copy.
* Attach the ZIP archive to your post using the "paperclip" (file attachments) button.

To ensure minidumps are enabled:

Go to Start, in the Search Box type: sysdm.cpl, press Enter.
Under the Advanced tab, click on the Startup and Recovery Settings... button.
Ensure that Automatically restart is unchecked.
Under the Write Debugging Information header select Small memory dump (256 kB) in the dropdown box (the 256kb varies).
Ensure that the Small Dump Directory is listed as %systemroot%\Minidump.
OK your way out.
Reboot if changes have been made.

Hi all,

Re-installed Windows 7 ultimate x64 the other day and since then I've had 10 BSOD over the last 5 days. The latest 2x (attachment included) happened this morning after I turned the PC on (before I could do anything).
I don't really have anything loading on start-up either and the BSOD's seem to be random too.
Checked Computer Management and all drivers seem installed.

if you want to see the other BSOD minidumps, just let me know and I can upload them too.

Regards,

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say it's your logitech webcam.
All the drivers for it are horribly dated (pre windows 7 by date alone)
I would see if there are some updated drivers/software available for the model you have via logitech's website.
Or, remove it.

Hello all. I was experiencing random BSOD occurrences so I decided to do a fresh install of Windows 7 Pro in hopes of alleviating this wicked disease. Plus, I wanted to put in a new SSD so thought now is the time. Well after returning home this morning from work I fired up the PC and was greeted with the "Windows has unexpectedly shut down blah blah blah" prompt. Well, I'm here seeking assistance.

As I mentioned, this is a fresh install. I've only installed the OS, Adobe Acrobat, Google Chrome, ESET SMart Security, Office 365, and software for my HP printer. Oh, and of course all the Windows updates. I'm hoping to get this resolved before installing any of my other applications. I look forward to any assistance I can get!

Hi,

I had the same problem that others have had with the new nVidia driver causing a BSOD but mine seem to be a little worse off. After uninstalling the nVidia driver the defult windows drivers caused my computer to just black screen after boot. I would see the windows 7 load screen but never the login screen (just black w/ no mouse). So I decided to fresh install by formatting and installing.

After fresh install the same problem happens upon first true boot I see the black screen only. After about 10-30 seconds the BSOD will appear saying it is there due to video card driver timeout. I dont know what i should try next since I am on my 3rd fresh install with the same problem.

I installed XP again and all is fine with the most up to date video driver as well.

Any ideas?

A:BSOD after fresh install

Another update, I was wrong in saying that windows 7 ever fully installed, it will go to a black screen now before instalation is complete...

Hey,

Just wondering if anyone can help. Installed
I'm getting BSOD within a minute of startup of a fresh Windows 7 x64 Install.

I've tried changing RAM and a couple of other things.
I have as of yet not installed any programs, just updated my graphics card driver

I can boot into safe mode without a problem.
I can't see any hardware conflicts.

I am getting a IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL error on the BSOD.
I was also getting a Win32.sys error.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Attached are the 4 latest dump files.

Simon.

Hi and welcome

You have 3 distinct causes for these BSODs. First the directx portion of your video driver. The second is memory corruptoion, and the third are win 7 files

For the first I would completely remove the current driver and download a fresh copy. Install only the driver and not the rest of the things that usually get installed with them.

For memory corruption I would download memtestx86 burn it to a cd and run it for at least 5 passes.

For the win 7 files I would run a system file check
(type cmd in search>right click>sfc /scannow)

Let us know if you need more help

Ken

So far you have several causes of the BSOD's. First your Rt64win7.sys driver (your realtek driver) and your vsmraid.sys (the via raid driver for amd).

You need to re-install them as well as all the following drivers.

Code:
GVTDrv64.sys fffff880`095e7000 fffff880`095f1000 0x0000a000 0x44fd22ca 9/5/2006 03:10:02
gdrv.sys fffff880`099f4000 fffff880`099fd000 0x00009000 0x49b9d175 3/12/2009 23:22:29
spldr.sys fffff880`01410000 fffff880`01418000 0x00008000 0x4a0858bb 5/11/2009 12:56:27
After that if you keep having BSOD's we can narrow the focus.

I have been getting a random BSOD on a fresh Windows 8 install. It doesn't seem to happen at any given time. Sometimes its right after startup and sometimes in the middle of the night when nothing is happening. I have attached my dumps if anyone can help read them. I have tried to look at them myself but I am getting a symbols error. I appreciate the help, Thanks!

A:Windows 8 BSOD after fresh install

Some of your mini-dumps are pointing towards the file: e1c63x64.sys which is your Intel(R) Gigabit Adapter NDIS 6.x driver file. Please update this to Windows 8 64bit version: Driver Reference Table

I have also found some out-of-date drivers that you should update or remove/un-install if un-needed:

AsUpIO.sys - ASUS hardware monitoring software related:http://www.carrona.org/drivers/search.php?id=AsUpIO.sys (please un-install all ASUS utilities via the control panel/un-install programs, known BSOD maker in Windows 8)
teamviewervpn.sys - TeamViewerVPN Network Adapter: Driver Reference Table (please un-install Teamviewer and re-install the latest version if you must use it)
vstor2-mntapi10-shared.sys - VMware Virtual Storage Volume Driver: Driver Reference Table (please un-intsall VMWare and install the latest version if you must use it)

Please update anything to Windows 8 64bit versions from your motherboard manufacturers website. This should include your Intel(R) Gigabit Ethernet Driver LAN driver. Your BIOS version is 3203 and the latest appears to be 3305, you might want to update as a last resort but please if you do follow manufacturers precautions as any error might render your system inoperable:

ASUSTeK Computer Inc. -Support- Drivers and Download P9X79 PRO

Please ensure you have downloaded all the Windows 8 updates until you can install no more.

-cheers

I have bought fresh BSOD. the install. day a Typicaly after a new HD motherboard cpu and ram for my old case After I put all the parts together I did transfer about GB between the BSOD. Typicaly the day after a fresh install. two old hard drives which did heat them up signifigantly One of the old hard drives has BSOD. Typicaly the day after a fresh install. the windows xp I was trying to use to debug if it was a software problem And the other old HD is needed to boot my upgrade licence version of windows but the system files are on the new GB HD I have reinstalled windows -bit a few times I have even tried running a previous version of XP Both seem to have worked fine but seem to have been steadly becoming unstable over time But both installs where on separate hard drives so a single hard drive problem would not be the case BSOD. Typicaly the day after a fresh install. With XP the symtoms where that the web browsers would have serious difficulty loading a page The errors from the browsers being can not find website to the page not fully loading With Windows the symtoms where BSOD that tended to occur the day after the fresh install System restores via install disc seem to patch the problem for a while Of course since I install the drivers for the mobo the first day every time I tried I can't rule out that the motherboard install cd could be faulty My internet connection is thru linksys wusb g v wireless adapter which did download a corrupted steam file Forgot if windows or xp error have not tested if it is a problem yet or if it was only an isolated insident Just today I tryed running the pc with the case open inorder to rule out insufficient cooling of the motherboard I was worried since the heat sink for mobo had no fan and was blocked from air flow from one side by the graphics card that cooling maybe an issue But that test failed dispite lowering the case temp a few degrees fahrenheit Attached is my only dmp file so far for this fresh install windows And I have some text below Problem signature Problem Event Name BlueScreen OS Version Locale ID Additional information about the problem BCCode BCP FB BCP FFFFF ED BCP FFFFF ED BCP FFFFF A OS Version Service Pack Product Files that help describe the problem C Windows Minidump - - dmp C Users Eric AppData Local Temp WER- - sysdata xml I appreciate any thing you can do for me I have run memtest from cd at boot to test the ram I only came across an error in the very first time running the test but that might have been me messing around with settings It also caused an error message to be printed out on test results area But all tests after are fine adding the suspicion of only one core being faulty as one of many of my paranoid explanations of my system problems I am happly well within warranty and I bought all my new parts from newegg I am sorry for rambling on I will try to be more helpful with straightforward answers to your questions to assist me And again I am grateful for your help

I suspect your wireless adapter drivers are the cause. Update them ASAP:

So these have carried over from an OLD windows7 build and im about at the end of my troubleshooting knowledge but for proper help im willing to go back to square 1. I haven't got any of the drivers off my mobo manufacturers site on account of them all being VERY slow ftp servers so everything's as windows has set it.

I haven't found what exactly sets them off but they happen when im doing more than a few things so im always distracted.

I just tried to play minecraft(trying to trigger it again) and got ingame and then JVM stopped working, not sure if its related or not.

A:BSOD on fresh windows8 install

Your mini-dumps are not pointing to any driver in particular that I can see. I have found some drivers which you should consider updating to Windows 8 64bit versions or un-installing/removing if not needed:

k57nd60a.sys - Broadcom NetLink Gigabit Ethernet NDIS6.x Unified Driver: Driver Reference Table
iaStorV.sys - Intel Matrix Storage Manager driver (base) (now is the Rapid Storage Technology (RST) driver):http://www.carrona.org/drivers/search.php?id=iaStorV.sys

Please update these drivers (anything Intel related and the Broadcom Lan Driver), plus anything else you feel should be updated using your manufacturers wesbite:

ASRock > Z77E-ITX

Please make sure you have all the Windows 8 Updates until you can install no more.

I've been having random BSOD crashed for about a year now, since I assembled this machine. 3 or 4 different error codes, all of which pointed to memory issues from what I could find online.
I performed a fresh install of Win7 a few nights ago, including a format of my HDD. 2 or 3 days later, the first BSOD occurred.

Basic Information:
Win7Prox64
Intel Core2Quad Q8300 (@2.5GhZ) Processor
Gigabyte P31-ES3G Motherboard
4gigs DDR2 PC2-8500 Ram (2x2gb) Memory Master RAM
300g Western Digital SATA Velociraptor HDD.

Memory corruption possibly caused by malware bytes
I would run memtest and remove mbam and replace with Microsoft security essentials
Download a copy of Memtest86 and burn the ISO to a CD using Iso Recorder or another ISO burning program. Boot from the CD, and leave it running for at least 5 or 6 passes.
Just remember, any time Memtest reports errors, it can be either bad RAM or a bad motherboard slot. Test the sticks individually, and if you find a good one, test it in all slots.

Hi All

I have just installed a fresh Windows 10 Pro on my desktop. Whenever I connect my Ethernet (connect to internet) around 30 seconds later get the BSOD - System_Service_Exception (ks.sys).

I have performed a system restore and startup repair but keep getting the same problem. I'm guessing that windows is updating drivers and system updates in the background and causing this issue.

UPDATE- I have tried disabling update in group policies and disabling auto update drivers in advanced options....still same problem after 2 mins!

Attached is my logs.
What am I meant to do to resolve this?

A:BSOD - System_Service_Exception (ks.sys) on fresh install

Troubleshooting a counterfeit installation is useless as it is not known what has been modified to your system.
A counterfeit installation contains heavily modified code which causes the system to behave in unexpected ways.
For this reason, analyzing counterfeit systems is unreliable and most analysts won't try it.
I recommend to install a genuine copy of Windows.
If, after you have installed a genuine copy of Windows, you still get BSOD's we'll be happy to assist you.

Hi,

I have been getting bsod for a while now and on a bit of research tried memtest86 and had errors on test 13 (corsair vengeance 8gb 2 X 4gb) so I went and got some new ram (corsair vengeance pro 16gb 2 X 8gb) and at the same time a new ssd for a fresh install of win 7
so fresh install of win 7 (with old ide not connected) on new ssd and new ram and also within the last month a new 700w power supply and a new gtx 960 video card and im still getting random bsod
any help would be much appreciated
Thanks

It is difficult to diagnose from a single DMP file because there are no trends to follow. That is the case here. The analysis points to the DirectX portion of your video driver/card, and can either be a video driver or the video hardware itself.

I would first re-install the video driver using this

When upgrading your graphic driver you MUST remove all traces of the current driver. In order to do that we recommend using Guru3D - Driver Sweeper

Or Phyxion.net - Driver Sweeper

When it is removed then download and install the fresh copy.
Also of note some really old software (below) was the running process at the time of the crash. I would see if there is an update or remove it if not essential.

So I know there a few other people have the same issue but I think mine might be different. I'm currently running in Safe Mode right now because I can't sit on standard boot too long before I have a random BSOD. It's completely random and very annoying, I need help as soon as I can get it. I'll be back with my minidump file shortly, in the mean time here are my specs:

CPU: Intel i5 2300
PSU:diablotek 600W
Memory: PNY Optima PC3-10666 2x4GB
GPU: Geforce 550 Ti
Mobo: GIGABYTE Z68AP-D3
Soundcard: none
Case: Custom
PS. I thought maybe this was an install issue so I reinstalled win7 x64 again without downloading any updates and its still giving me grief.

The computer is brand new i7, 6GB ram, 128GB SSD

Help would be much appreciated. Thanks

A:BSOD - Fresh Computer/Install

hi bushrop03 and welcome to SF
One of your dumps blames csrss.exe (Client/Server RuntimeSubsystem) which is known to be faked in Spam/Trojan attacks (esp. if it's not in system32 folder). Check your taskmanager if there are 2 or more csrss processes running. Load this and run a full scan, just to be sure

A:BSOD reoccurs even after fresh install

Only one DMP file was upload if you have more please upload them so we can spot trends.

Lets eliminate the OS by running a system file check.

SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker

How to use the System File Checker tool to troubleshoot missing or corrupted system files on Windows Vista or on Windows 7
There are obviously 2 possibiliteis Software, and hardware. The fact that the re-install yieded the same problem seems to point to hardware but we need to run a few tests.

First what memory test did you use (memtest is best, the built in is useless) and for how many passes.

Ram is the most probable hardware, followed by HD, cpu, etc
To test the drivers (software) we need you to run driver verifier
Of note ::::: You might want to update to SP-1 as it eliminates many software issues in the original release

Please run these two tests to verify your memory and find which driver is causing the problem.

* If you are overclocking anything reset to default before running these tests.
In other words STOP!!!

* If you have a Raid update its Driver.

Memtest.

Quote:
*Download a copy of Memtest86 and burn the ISO to a CD using Iso Recorder or another ISO burning program. Memtest86+ - Advanced Memory Diagnostic Tool

*Boot from the CD, and leave it running for at least 5-7 passes.

Just remember, any time Memtest reports errors, it can be either bad RAM or a bad motherboard slot.

Test the sticks individually, and if you find a good one, test it in all slots.

Any errors are indicative of a memory problem.

If a known good stick fails in a motherboard slot it is probably the slot.

RAM - Test with Memtest86+

Driver Verifer

Quote:
Using Driver Verifier is an iffy proposition.
Most times it'll crash and it'll tell you what the driver is.
But sometimes it'll crash and won't tell you the driver.
Other times it'll crash before you can log in to Windows.
If you can't get to Safe Mode, then you'll have to resort to offline editing of the registry to disable Driver Verifier.

I'd suggest that you first backup your stuff and then make sure you've got access to another computer so you can contact us if problems arise.
Then make a System Restore point (so you can restore the system using the Vista/Win7 Startup Repair feature).

In Windows 7 you can make a Startup Repair disk by going to Start....All Programs...Maintenance...Create a System Repair Disc - with Windows Vista you'll have to use your installation disk or the "Repair your computer" option at the top of the Safe Mode menu .

Then, here's the procedure:
- Go to Start and type in "verifier" (without the quotes) and press Enter
- Select "Create custom settings (for code developers)" and click "Next"
- Select "Select individual settings from a full list" and click "Next"
- Select everything EXCEPT FOR "Low Resource Simulation" and click "Next"
NOTE: You can use Low Resource Simulation if you'd like.
From my limited experimentation it makes the BSOD's come faster.
- Select "Select driver names from a list" and click "Next"
Then select all drivers NOT provided by Microsoft and click "Next"
- Select "Finish" on the next page.

If you are using win 8 add these
- Concurrency Stress Test
- DDI compliance checking

Reboot the system and wait for it to crash to the Blue Screen.
Continue to use your system normally, and if you know what causes the crash, do that repeatedly.
The objective here is to get the system to crash because Driver Verifier is stressing the drivers out.
If it doesn't crash for you, then let it run for at least 36 hours of continuous operation (an estimate on my part).

Reboot into Windows (after the crash) and turn off Driver Verifier by going back in and selecting "Delete existing settings" on the first page, then locate and zip up the memory dump file and upl... Read more

Hi all,

I recently downgraded from Windows 10 due to constant BSOD's (was initially upgraded from windows 8.1).

I successfully performed a clean install this morning but have already encountered three BSODs,

I have a feeling that it might be my origin software but I'm not sure

Regards

Matt

A:BSOD - Fresh windows 8.1 install

Hi mattblue,

Welcome to the 8forums.

As you get a 0x1a(memory_management), 0xA(IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL) pointing to hardware and 0x139(KERNEL_SECURITY_CHECK_FAILURE) caused by GPU drivers, please run a few tests.

Diagnostic test

GPU TEST

Run Furmark to test your GPU. Furmark tutorial

   Note
Run Furmark for around 30 minutes

   Warning
Your GPU temperatures will rise quickly while Furmark is running. Keep a keen eye on them and abort the test if temperatures rise too high

Diagnostic Test

RAM TEST

Run MemTest86+ to analyse your RAM. MemTest86+ - Test RAM - Windows 7 Forums

   Note

MemTest86+ needs to be run for at least 8 passes for conclusive results. Set it running before you go to bed and leave it overnight. We're looking for zero errors here. Even a single error will indicate RAM failure.

Points at your Marvell Yukon drivers again.
Drivers are pretty old:

Code:
8c35b000 8c3a1000 yk60x86 yk60x86.sys Tue Jul 31 06:11:26 2007 (46AF0ACE)
As you've had this issue in the past, try updating the drivers again.
Also, once that's done, update all of your drivers (there's some more old one's in there) and then update to Service Pack 2.
If it still happens, then I'd suggest trying another network card to see if that fixes it.

Hello Subby,

I am not an expert on reading dump files.
But as reading your post, i am thinking it is the problem of your PSU. Maybe your PSU is not compatible with your Graphics card.
Can you post your system specs?

Hello, I have recently got a new processor, motherboard, ram, cooler and hard drive. I have installed all of them and installed a fresh new Windows 7 install on it. I have since installed all my basic drivers; motherboard, graphics card, network adapter etc but I have gone away from my PC and when I've come back I am greeted with the message "Windows has recovered from an unexpected shut down" so it's not something that I'm doing that's causing it. I am presuming it's something to do with my hardware.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks

A:BSOD on fresh new install, unknown cause

Hello and welcome John now before we start on the dump files which are mentioning something about Genuine Intel could you let us know what Windows media did you use on the new motherboard because if it was an OEM for the old mobo without Microsoft's ok you cannot use it on a new board. If the media is retail then no problems.

There is just one other little thing you have a problem device listed in msinfo32 see pic might be an idea to get that driver installed.
