I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello everyone Lately I have been getting a BSOD while playing GTA V in the story mode with the settings reasonably toned down to accommodate triple monitors This is the only time I get a BSOD it's the first time this computer has ever had a BSOD and it's happened times now Each time it's for PAGE FAULT IN NONPAGED AREA which does not seem to make sense to me I have tried looking through BlueScreenView to see what driver is causing it and it's always a different driver but they are all up to date I used Driver Identifier to check my drivers and they are all up V, PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA BSOD GTA playing 0x00000050 to date as far as I can tell PC specs Intel i - k overclocked to Ghz GBs G Skill DDR - RAM MSI X S MPower mobo MSI GTX Samsung Pro GB SSD Let me know if you need anything else I BSOD playing GTA V, PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA 0x00000050 have not run Memtest yet but it seems odd that this only occurs in GTA V especially since I use this computer for video editing and have put it through a lot more pressure than this

Hi last week I installed a new video (which may be the problem but I don't think so), and since then I have had 2 bsod. Not sure if I should be worried about this yet, but I am gonna try my luck on this forum.

The most recent bod was a PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA 0x00000050

The one a couple of days earlier was a SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION 0x0000003b

i have attached the latest DM Log file

My machine is an AMD FX-6200 & Gigabyte GA-970-D3
The graphics card is a Gigabyte GTX 660

Hope I have included the correct information.

Thanks

   Warning

Before changing drivers, make it sure that you have earlier System restore points made in your computer. You can check it easily by using CCleaner looking at Tools > System Restore.

If there is no points, make a System Restore Point Manually.

Can you roll back the driver using Device Manager.
Go to Start
Type Device Manager
Then expand your Display Adapaters
Click on your graphics card
then under the drivers tab click Roll Back Driver

I suggest running a stress test on your GPU.
Stress test your graphics card with Furmark

I recommend running it for around 30 minutes

   Warning

Furmark will increase the temperature of your GPU rapidly so keep and eye on your temperatures

It appears that the Install of windows that you are using is counterfeit, the product ID matches an Acer/Gateway/Packard but the laptop its self is a Toshiba. From where did you get your copy of windows?

Today, when I power up my pc, at boot, after the login screen (2-15 seconds) my pc crashes, and it give me PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA.

With bluescreenview I can see that the drivers are different every time, and I read somewhere in internet that it can be a hardware problem.

Two days ago, I've installed a game that require a lot of resources; is it possible that a lot of stress have ruined something?

For now, after 15 reboot, the pc is ok and it's awake from 1 hour.

Did I have to do some tests or by analyzing .dmp it's possibile to find the precise issue?

Many thanks, again

Hello. I have a Lenovo X201 tablet that has been running great until recently.
I have been getting BSODs. I suspected my memory because it appears to have started shortly after I installed it. I ran Memtest overnight, about 8 hours, and removed the "offending" PNY 4Gb RAM based on the results. I hope the attached images and zip file are helpful to help me resolve my issue. Please contact me if and when you are able. It's likely a driver issue as I've also been having issues with my 6250 AGN drivers and I've unistalled and reinstalled several times.

Also from you dump files I noticed:

please update this driver from here: http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Default.aspx

you may also want to run the system file checker as I noticed some Ntfs errors in the dump files:

Quote:
SFC.EXE /SCANNOW
Go to Start and type in "cmd.exe" (without the quotes)
At the top of the search box, right click on the cmd.exe and select "Run as adminstrator"
In the black window that opens, type "SFC.EXE /SCANNOW" (without the quotes) and press Enter.
Let the program run and post back what it says when it's done.

I'm using Windows 7 (x.86) and keeping getting BS's frequently.

I think there are several reasons for it and there's more than 1 cause to it.

I attach the most recent mini dump I got, hopefully to find more about the cause of it.

According to BlueScreenView.exe, the cause is win32k.sys+bb7f6.

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

Hi this is my first post on this forum I actually come to you from another forum that was unable to help me resolve my problem For the last month or so I've been getting intermittent BSODs all of which reference 'ntoskrnl exe' as the culprit in BlueScreenView however despite copious research I am unable to resolve the issue ntoskrnl.exe+f11e4 PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA 0x00000050 BSOD So far I have tried -Run Memtest for passes clean -Run chkdsk f multiple times all clean -Run Seatools for DOS long test BSOD ntoskrnl.exe+f11e4 PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA 0x00000050 clean -Updated video card drivers to latest -Verified that BSOD ntoskrnl.exe+f11e4 PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA 0x00000050 no system components are overheating or undervolted -I run virus scans registry defrags cleaning regularly all clean -sfc scannow all clean -I have BSOD ntoskrnl.exe+f11e4 PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA 0x00000050 no active anti-virus that could cause the problem -Stress tested both the GPU and CPU all stable -removed Acronis Trueimage drivers I thought may have been causing the issue no effect -replaced my Gb C drive with a new Gb as I was running low on space and thought maybe that might have contributed no effect Things I have not yet tried -Scan entire system for outdated drivers I can't find a reputable program that will do this all of the ones I've tried just want me to pay -I ran sfc verifyonly which reported integrity violations however I don't know how to read the dump file and identify the issue -Full format and reinstall Windows obviously this is a last resort As per the instructions here Blue Screen of Death BSOD Posting Instructions I have run the tool and attached the required files Thanks in advance

First sorry for my english.

OS: OEM Windows 7 Professional 64-bit, SP1 (5 months old)
Hardware: 6 months old
Processor: Intel I7 2600K
MB: Asus P8Z68-V PRO
Graphic Card: Asus GTX 570
SSD: Kingston HyperX 120GB
Memory: 8GB Corsair 1600

My problems with BSOD are pretty random (playing games, watching videos), but they are always 0x00000050 PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA.

One of the sure way to gat this BSOD is to run miranda instant messenger (Yaho?s Miranda Pack) and almost any video file (Last time it was .mkv).

I checked my memory with Memtest86 (8 runs) and find no errors. I updated BIOS on motherboard and firmware on SSD. My current video drivers are 290.53-desktop-win7-winvista-64bit-international-beta, but I had BSOD problems even with non beta drivers.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hello Everyone.

I keep getting this error. This usually happens when the computer is idling for an extended period of time. These are some things I've done to trouble shoot the issue.

1. I've ran sfc and it was clean

2. 99% of the time this happens when my computer is idling.

3. I ran driver verifier and it crashed immediately after rebooting. and ive included the results in the logs

4. checked the logs manually with bluescreen viewer, and I see that ntoskrnl.exe is the main culprit

5. Ran memtest86 overnight and no errors.

6. Removed SCP controller drivers.

update: just got a bsod today "IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL" ntoskrnl.exe same file as before.

Here are the logs.

If you are using a program like Ccleaner please stop using it while troubleshooting.
This because programs like Ccleaner remove dump files that are needed to troubleshoot.
Or configure Ccleaner to not remove dump files:

Please fill in your system specsPlease follow this tutorial and download the tool. The tool will give you detailed information about your system specs, please fill in your system specs more completely including PSU, cooling and other used stuff like mouse, keyboard, monitor, case, etc.
The PSU, cooling and other stuff are NOT mentioned in the tool.
In the left corner below in your post you find 'My System Specs'. After clicking it you can find a link a little below that says 'Update your System Spec', click on this link to get to the page where you can fill in your system specs.

Hello guys,
I have been getting blue screen on my PC for the past 5 days at random times.
Error: Page Fault In Non Paged Area: Technical Information: 0X00000050
My PC is running Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit.
Here's what I have already tried:
Tried setting the paging file size to none and then back to automatic.
Removed the RAM, changed the slot.
Ran MemTest86, came out with zero errors after all 4 passes.
Ran disk check, cleaned registry.
Finally, Did a fresh install of the OS.
And yet, I have the problem. The frequency of the error popping up has become low after the fresh install, but it still does. And I have no anti virus at this stage.
Not sure how to go about it next. Any help would be appreciated.
I've attached the dump file.
Thanks in advance!

Dear sevenforums members At last I have to accept that I am not able to find and or solve this issue myself I keep getting frequent multiple time per day BSOD's but to my knowledge at random occasions I will add all asked information dump files etc And I will also give an overview of what I have tried myself If one could help me out that would be very much appreciated as I have reached random but 0x00000050) BSOD (PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA frequent at my own limits of problem solving My computer used to do a restart after each BSOD the last weeks even the Blue Screen freezes which may corrupt the dumpfiles Specs Fujitsu Siemens Amilo Li BSOD frequent but at random (PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA 0x00000050) Desktop Windows x Home Premium update from vista NVIDIA nForce i MCP -PV Intel Core Quad Q Nvidia GT x GB DDR SD-RAM x WD Harddiscs TB GB Approx year old Work done so far I used the windows build in checks for both RAM and HD's I ran memtest for hours no faults I have ran the system on either RAM chip alone I installed windows on a new HD and disconnected the old one I have tried to update most drivers Read many threads about BSOD's but did not yet find the ultimate solution

A:BSOD frequent but at random (PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA 0x00000050)

All of them pertain to NTFS issues. Has this been occurring even with a fresh new copy of Windows? If so, you may wanna do the following:

Update your BIOS. If your BIOS is up to date, reflash it ("reinstall" it). BIOS sometimes can get bugged.
Update all your motherboard drivers from the OEM vendor's website, especially those relating to your drive controller (may come a driver suite for your mobo).
If those two do not resolve the issue, most certainly we're dealing with a failed motherboard, which are nearly impossible to test without a motherboard testing kit. Unfortunately, because the system is so old, most likely your warranty for it has expired. You may be able to find an exact replacement board, or you may need to just purchase a new board.
For other miscellaneous checks, you should look into:

Uninstalling/updating Nforce System Management Controller Driver (I believe it's part of the Nforce chipset driver suite). It's dated 2007 right now, so something should be done with it.
You have some miscellaneous OEM PC Camera driver (snpstd.sys) that's really old (2006). Uninstall it or update it.

Welcome
Most of your files do indeed show Vbabosec.sys There is no mention of this in Google, except for your post. This is usually and indication that the BSOD was caused by a name changing Trojan. I will ask our security people to look into the possibility that you were indeed infected. In the mean time run a full updated anti virus scan. Download and run a full scan with Malwarebytes.

Here's a link to my dump file.

Basic System Specs:
OS: Windows 7 64 bit
CPU: Intel 2500k
GPU Nvidia 980ti
RAM: 8gb

Basically I get a BSOD if I try to run a few different programs (MSI Afterburner, a video game executable, etc) and I'm not sure what's causing it. I tried to download the windows SDK to view the dump file myself... but that gave me a BSOD too. I'm at a loss as to why it's happening since there's really no rhyme or reason on which program will trigger it. It also happens so rarely that I end up forgetting about it. I'm pretty peeved right now because it's happening with the new Tomb Raider game. Some games are fine, but others are not.

Anyway can someone take a look and help me? Like I said I can't view the dump file myself so I decided to upload it instead. Much appreciated everyone

The problem is due to one of the system log files becoming corrupt.
Best way to fix is to try a system restore from 2 days before the problem
If that does not work a repair install will most likely solve the problem

I have a Lenovo V570 and about 1 week ago no matter what, when I tried to play a game it gives me a BSoD with the error Page_Fault_In_NonPaged_Area. I have all my drivers updated and I even checked my hardware and virus scans. Nothing! I don't know whats wrong and this here is my last option resort.

**While giving tips and suggestions it would be most effective if you had steps and download links to any additional software.

Hey,

I haven't had any issues with my PC (other than some initial minor teething troubles a good while back) and then this morning I fired up a computer game (WoW), the computer froze and then took me through to the BSOD with the following info: PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA.

Any help would be massively appreciated - attached in the debug file as per the forum instructions.

Thanks in advance,

Bill

Hey guys.
For the past 2 weeks I've experiencing BSOD's when leaving (Alt+tab or even "exit game") World of Warcraft.
It's totally random, sometimes I got it, sometimes not. It seems to be more commom when I'm also watching something on youtube.
Sometimes it also happens when I'm turning off the pc.
And sometimes when loading game ui (like when I change map) it just freeze and I have to reboot my pc.

I've tested memory already with memtest, did the driver scan and windows memory scan and no error found.
I formated my drive and installed windows all again, but it didn't helped either.
I just don't know what to do. =/ I hope someone here can help me.

Well, I've uploaded my Dump file with this thread, if anyone can help me identify the source of the error and how to solve it, I'll be really very gratefull.

ati3duag.dll points to your graphics card driver. I strongly recommend that you upgrade to CC13.4
AMD Catalyst

Why are you even using Windows XP in the first place? Running an obsolete 10 year old OS isn't a good idea, especially on newer hardware. You're basically not utilizing your graphics card to its full potent while using XP. Upgrade to Windows 7.

Post your .dmp files for a detailed analysis.

I get these BSOD's when playing ARMA2 as well as Witcher 3. Very infrequent and I cant make any sence of them, I've tried following both, https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/329293 as well as tried to stress test my RAM's. RAM stresstest turned out nothing and the "solution from MS didnt help either.

Uninstall the installed display driver using Display Driver Uninstaller. Then install an earlier version, say 347.25 WHQL or 350.12 WHQL.

And free up the startup. Windows does not need any other program to auto start with it, but the auto start programs often conflicts and causes various problems including BSODs.
Click on the Start button
Type ?msconfig (without quotes), click the resulting link. It will open the System Configuration window.
Select the ?Startup? tab.
Deselect all items other than the antivirus.
Apply > OK
Accept then restart.
Report us for any further BSOD.

Welcome to TSG....

This is a problem caused by a device driver and this device driver right now is unknown. If you could get the whole BSOD error message it would be a bigger help toward fixing this problem.

Per Aumha.org, one of the possible causes is a rootkit.
Ram & HDD diags have passed.

My colleague said an update was installed on Mon, 16 Aug 2010. All went well Mon & Tues, with a shut down at the end of each day. However, on Wed, 18 Aug 2010, the problem surfaced upon 1st boot of the day.

Hi,

So I have Windows 7 64 bit installed with a brand new Gigabyte Black Edition Z97 motherboard and i7 processor.

8GB DDR3 ram

I also have a GTX 760

I keep getting a BSOD when playing games. Attached is the .dmp file. Hopefully someone here will be able to read it so that they can tell me what hardware isn't working or what the actual problem is.

A:BSOD Page_fault_in_nonpaged_area when playing games

Update Windows 7 completely. If you get more BSOD's after that, generate and upload a new zip file.

Most of the memory dumps blame your Intel graphics drivers.
Please:
- download a fresh copy of the latest, Win8.1 compatible Intel graphics drivers from the manufacturer's website
- uninstall the current Intel graphics drivers from your system
- install the freshly downloaded Intel graphics drivers
- monitor for further BSOD's

Please update these older drivers. Links are included to assist in looking up the source of the drivers. If unable to find an update, please remove (un-install) the program responsible for that driver. DO NOT manually delete/rename the driver as it may make the system unbootable! :

Hello. I've been getting blue screens recently when playing games. Ntoskrnl.exe has been in all of the crash dumps and the bug check codes have been either 0x0000000a and 0x000000050. Win32k.sys has also appeared in the crash dumps. This hasn't happened during every game but it happens constantly when playing DotA 2. I've uploaded the crash dumps and other information I got from the SF Diag Tool.

Do not start the free trial of Malwarebytes. Just use the standalone version, update it, and scan your computer once a week with Malwarebytes and with Microsoft Security Essentials.

Good and Free system security combination.

After installing your security software, update it, and then run full scans today with each program. Report back the results of the scans.
Problematic Software:
Code:
Start Menu\Programs\Spybot - Search & Destroy Public:Start Menu\Programs\Spybot - Search & Destroy Public
Spybot Search and Destroy is not the best malware/spyware utility. Take a look at Good and Free system security combination. for better options.
Crashes point primarily to your graphics card drivers or to your memory. I suspect memory since many have problems getting the correct compatible memory for AMD Phenom II processors. If you are overclocking any hardware, please stop.

Run the boot version of Memtest86+ paying close attention to Parts 2 and 3 of the tutorial. Also, in case Memtest86+ misses anything and comes up with no errors, run the extended version of the Windows Memory Diagnostics Tool for at least five passes. These you may want to run overnight since they take a long time to complete (run them an hour before bed each of the next two nights and check before going to sleep that they are still running).

   Warning
Before you proceed with the following, answer these two questions: Are you still under warranty? Does your warranty allow you to open up the machine to check hardware? If you are unsure of the answers to these questions, contact your system manufacturer. WARNING: The steps that follow can void your warranty!!!

For Part 3: If You Have Errors: If you swap any memory components, follow these steps for ESD safety:Shut down and turn off your computer.
Unplug all power supplies to the computer (AC Power then battery for laptops, AC power for desktops)
Hold down the power button for 30 seconds to close the circuit and ensure all power drains from components.
Make sure you are grounded by using proper grounding techniques, i.e. work on an anti-static workbench, anti-static desk, or an anti-static pad. Hold something metallic while touching it to the anti-static surface, or use an anti-static wristband to attach to the anti-static material while working. If you do not have an anti-static workbench, desk, or pad, you can use your computer tower/case by finding a metal hold in it, such as a drive bay.
Once these steps have been followed, it is safe to remove and replace components within your computer.

Please help us check for the compatibility of your RAM with your processor. Download and install CPU-Z and Upload screenshots of the CPU, Mainboard, Memory, and SPD tabs. In the SPD tab, upload an image of each slot.

Usual causes: Defective hardware (particularly memory - but not just RAM), Faulty system service, Antivirus, Device driver, NTFS corruption, BIOS
Follow these steps -

Test for any corrupted drivers, by running Driver Verifier for least 24 hours, stop the test if a BSOD occurs before this time frame. Driver Verifier will place stress on the drivers within your system, which will cause corrupted drivers to crash and hopefully be pinpointed.Driver Verifier - Enable and Disable

Memory:RAM - Test with Memtest86+
Run Memtest86+ for least 7-8 passes, and preferably overnight as it can take a while to fully complete.

Test each RAM stick individually, if an error is found then move the same RAM stick into the next DIMM slot and test again, if errors are found for the same RAM stick in every available slot then you have a faulty RAM module. On the other hand, if no errors are found in the next slot or the other slots for the same RAM module, then you have a faulty DIMM slot.

Test each RAM stick and every motherboard DIMM slot available.

I usually get BSOD once a game but not every game, more of it during the start of a DOTA 2 game.
The most recent one i had showed an error; PAGE_FAULT_IN_NON_PAGED_AREA stop: 0x00000050 etc..
have no idea how to fix this, definitely not a hardware issue though..
Help, this thing is killing me and requires me to reboot my computer 4-5 times daily..

Hi All,

Started playing Path of Exile about a week ago and I am getting habitual BSOD as I enter a few areas in the game. The dump happens every time I try to access a zone more than 1 away area from the Forested Town in Act 2.

It is always 0x00000050 Memory Dump

I have attached the SF Folder the Diagnostic Tool Created - SF_17-02-2013-LP81.zip

Please ignore all the dumps from 2012 as that was all the issues you guys already solved back when I first built this Computer. Only the Dumps from February 2013 are applicable,

Hopefully this is a quick fix like some other strings I saw on the PoE BSODs

Thanks

A:BSOD Playing Path of Exile -- 0x00000050

I've run four of your dumps and running the rest in a while. So far the BSOD-s seem to be consistently caused by your Creative Audio Driver (WDM) driver and Creative 20X HAL (WDM) drivers. Looks like your sound device is creating the issue.

You should try updating the drivers and see if that improves the situation:

The pre-2009 version of ASACPI.SYS is notorious for causing BSOD's. From the below link, click on Utilities and download and install the 'ATK0110 driver for WindowsXP/Vista/Win7 32&64-bit'.
ASUSTeK Computer Inc. -Support- Drivers and Download P7P55D LE

The following drivers need to be updated:

Code:
Afc.sys Wed Jul 12 15:48:20 2006 (44B48D24)

netr28x.sys Thu Feb 26 14:02:09 2009 (49A60631)
These drivers can be found by searching them in Google and then finding the associated software or driver. Finally, find the latest version of this driver or software and download and install it. Some of the drivers may also be found here (if the driver says 'Windows Update' simply make sure all Windows Updates are installed).

You should also update any other drivers you can think of including graphics, audio, chipset, SSD etc.

You have Razer drivers and software installed but it doesn't look like you're using any Razer products. Is this the case and if so why?

I recently upgraded to a gtx 760.
Earlier I didn't used to play games that much so don't know if the BSOD problem while playing games would've been there since before.
I ran furmark at highest resolution a 8xmsaa for a long time, it didn't crash or anything. GPU temp reached a max of 81C.

The BSOD's I get are only during games. It happens anytime between 15-30 minutes of gameplay. 30 Minutes at most.
I have the latest Nvidia 320.49 drivers. Tried older drivers but same thing happened. Minidump is attached and any help that could help me narrow down what could be the cause of the BSOD's is appreciated.
Thanks.

Hello, I hope this post is in the correct format and allow me to thank you in advance for any help you can provide.

I have been getting BSOD when playing StarCraft 2. I reinstalled the OS and the PC ran completely fine for around 3 - 4 hours. Then I reinstalled SC2, downloaded the patch and played 1 game before receiving BSOD.

Attached you will find the dump files.

I'm not too tech-savvy, but I have been experiencing some BSOD while playing the game path of exile. I have also had crashes (no BSOD, just a crash and I had to restart my PC) when playing other games aswell a few months ago (I dont play games very often).
When I am not playing games I am not experiencing any problems.

Thanks in advance for any help you can give me

Daemon Tools, Alcohol 120% and Power Archiver Pro uses SCSI Pass Through Direct (SPTD), which is a well known BSOD causer. Uninstall Daemon Tools at first. Then download SPTD standalone installer from Disk-Tools.com, and execute the downloaded file as guided below :
Double click to open it.
Click this button only:

If it is grayed out, as in the picture, there is no more SPTD in your system, and you just close the window.
And, as the system is crashing, better you stop overclocking, as mild as the overclock may be.
Let us know the results.

Title says it all. I read the 101 error code is faulty hardware (usually RAM). So I used a different RAM and the BSOD still happened. I re-installed DotA2 and Steam. I updated all my drivers. I updated my BIOS. I ran a memory test which passed (although i have handled the RAM since the mem test, i doubt it was shorted out since then as I am very careful of grounding myself.) The BSOD happened once maybe twice last week, but now it's happening multiple times in a single match (which averages an hour).

Attached is the SF file as requested by default. Thank you ahead of time for any thought and effort you put into helping me find a solution to this problem.

A:BSOD playing DotA2, error 0x00000050 & 0x00000101

As per the zip you uploaded, the latest BSOD was of 23/10/2013.

Attachment 299271

Checking it may not give any hint about the current situation, as it is old. Moreover, it was caused by the USB driver (Asmedia XHCI, I think), which was remarkably old.

Code:
Image name: asmtxhci.sys
Timestamp: Thu Nov 03 08:30:22 2011 (4EB203C6)
Cannot check the current situation, due to lack of data. But, depending on your statement that you uploaded all the drivers. So the issue should not remain there.

We need crash dumps to know what is happening. Follow it: Dump Files - Configure Windows to Create on BSOD
Go to Option Two, Point 2. Download the .reg file and merge it in registry by double clicking it.

Now wait for another BSOD. When it occurred, search the .dmp files manually in the default path: C:\Windows\Minidump or %SystemRoot%\Minidump. See if the crash dump is recorded or not (hopefully it will be recorded).Post it following the Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) Posting Instructions.

Dont run any disc cleanup tool before you upload another zip.

Plus, for a good ready reference about stop 0x101, see this post: Win 7 A Clock Interrupt... BSOD (101 Error)

a) BIOS bug
b) a driver whose activity is causing the target processor to lock up
c) a hardware defect (temperature, voltage, dust, RFI, outright borkedness...)

Good luck with it.

What you already have done:
You updated the BIOS.
You updated the drivers (have to look at this part once again, after obtaining recent dumps)
You ran memtest86+, as you said. For how many passes? It is to run at least 8 passes.
So I suggest you to do these .....

Stress test the Graphics Card using Furmark.
Video Card - Stress Test with Furmark

Stress test the CPU.
Hardware - Stress Test With Prime95

Check if the Power Supply Unit (PSU) supplying adequate power to the computer or not.
eXtreme Power Supply Calculator
Also let us know the wattage of the PSU.
** it will not eliminate the chance of a failing PSU. Later, if needed, it may be needed to swap it with a known good one.

Is the computer hot? Report us the heat of the computer after a couple of hours of your normal usage. Upload a screenshot of the summery tab of Speccy. Alternatively, you can publish a Speccy snapshot too: Speccy - Publish Snapshot of your System Specs .

Are you overclocking? As you are getting BSODs, you should stop overclocking and run all the hardware components like CPU, GPU and RAM to their default settings. Also set the BIOS to default, too.

Let us know the results. And be aware that stop 0x101 BSODs may need a lot of work and time to identify the root cause. So be patient please.

I recommend formatting the disk and installing a genuine Windows 7 installation. Counterfeit installations are notoriosly difficult to diagnose because they behave in unexpected ways due to the heavily modified code they contain, and many analysts will not even attempt it.

I've been having constant BSOD's occur on this machine since early last year. I was running Windows 7 Ultimate for about a year. In the past two weeks I switched over to Windows 7 Professional in hopes that it would solve the problem but it has not.

In the past the BSOD's would occur while watching Netflix and burning CD's and DVD's. I have not done either of those activities on this machine for months now. Lately, it has been crashing when running the iracing.com simulator.

The BSOD error codes I'm getting are mainly 0x00000101 and sometimes 0x00000050. Screenshots attached.

After examining the dump files using BlueScreenView (Blue screen of death (STOP error) information in dump files.) it looks like the main culprits are:
-ntoskrnl.exe
-nvlddmkm.sys

Any help would be much appreciated.

The latest BSOD is caused by athurx.sys - Atheros AR9271 Wireless Network Adapter

I suggest having a look for an updated driver.

2. makes restarts without saying smthing, but afterwards I get a message: "the system has recovered from serious error"

My latest 2 minidumps are here: http://www.techspot.com/vb/topic45928.html. I don't have more cause I made a system reinstall an hour ago.

I get BSOD whenever I am on my computer for 6 hours or over, watching a video and playing a game, or while playing gmod in general. My comp specs are on my profile as best as I could get. My computer runs 68C 26% fanspeed when not playing any games and gets as hot as 86C when playing games.
and my graphics card is up to date.

some of the BSODs were like memory management or time management or something.

Here is my SCF/scannow
Attachment 263947
and my SF Diagnostic minidump
Attachment 263945

A:BSOD playing too long, watching a video and playing a game or gmod

Hello and welcome foodwrap Mate you mentioned memory management was brought up.

Now two things you can do here is
a) reseat the sticks

b) run a memtest if the reseating doesn't have any effect

You will need to make a bootable disk for the memtest and set the BIOS to boot from the optical drive then insert the memtest disk and Save and > Enter.

Memtest86+ - Advanced Memory Diagnostic Tool

The machine will boot into the memtest program - no OS is loaded and it will start "testing" the RAM
Now you need to let it run for at least 8 passes unless you start to get red errors straight away.
The test takes quite while and sometimes people run it overnight.

But do the reseat first and have a look to see if any crud is down in the slots. You can take this chance to have a quick once over of the machine for dust etc

See pics for what it will look like when you run the memtest if you have to.

It seems something is going wrong with my GPU or one of the when game. game, BSOD any No games. just playing specific drivers I feel like it's most likely hardware failure due to extreme treatment of my laptop What happens is the whole screen kind of just gets chopped up into squares sometimes the patterns vary Sometimes it's not even a ing pattern just a ed up BSOD when playing games. No specific game, just any game. screen with different colors It then crashes and attempts to restart but you can't even read the BSOD when playing games. No specific game, just any game. BSOD because the screen is so messed up Then it will reboot itself but the screen is screwed and if you attempt to run 'windows normally' it will crash and reboot in an endless cycle I have to start in safe mode in which there are a bunch of nasty lines that start from left to right on the screen I can still use the laptop but over time the screens disappear and the screen finally goes back to normal After this I can reboot into normal mode Help I can also send pics showing what happens I just have to play a game and have it crash for me again haha Thanks EDIT DM Log is up for viewing Somebody hellpppp I want to play Fallout T T

Hi I'm new to this forum and was wondering if i could get some help or advice on what the problem might be the PC is only 3 months old and has had four recent blue screen errors over the time i have been using it and i was wondering if this is a hardware or system failure that i may need to replace. These are the dump files and system information attached to post thank you.

While playing an MMO called Elsword, a few minutes into gameplay I received the pfn_list_corrupt BSOD. Rather than risk messing around with things I'm not 100% about, I thought I'd post here for a solution. Please correct me if the opening post is wrong or if I missed some information. Thank you in advance.

A:BSOD while playing a game.

The zip you uploaded does not contain any crash dump.

Would really like some help, it's recently reinstalled (The computer)

Hi BlackNinjah.

A stop 0x116 is a display related BSOD.

Are you overclocking?
As you are getting BSODs, you should stop overclocking and run all the hardware components like CPU, GPU and RAM to their default settings.

Uninstall the existing version of the display driver using Display Driver Uninstaller and try 340.52 WHQL.

When done, Stress test the Graphics Card using Furmark.
Video Card - Stress Test with Furmark

Is the computer hot? Report us the heat of the computer after a couple of hours of your normal usage. Upload a screenshot of the summery tab of Speccy. Alternatively, you can publish a Speccy snapshot too: Speccy - Publish Snapshot of your System Specs .

Let us know the results.

I'm not sure what the error code is, but over the past month I've experienced an increased number of BSOD's. I'm not making too much sense out of the dump file, so I'm posting here for suggestions and help.

I know this isn't game specific because I've had at least one crash for these games: Tekkit, Shift 2, and Driver: SF.

Let me know if I need to provide anything else.

A:BSOD playing any game

You said it's only been past month? From the crashdumps it looks like you've been suffering since May, with one crash that month, one in June, four in July, and four in August. Have those previous crashes been resolved?

The crashdumps report a lot of various memory corruptions, from solitary bit changes in code to messed up CPU registers that may have been grabbed from bad memory references. I cannot ascertain exact cause without a kernel dump (MEMORY.DMP in Windows directory).

You should be able to get a better answer if you let Driver Verifier crash your system a couple times and send us the minidumps from there. If I find that nothing has changed in the crashdumps that DV churns out, then you are looking at hardware problems, which is pretty much what I suspect right now. However, if it is caused by hardware failure, crashdumps will not be all that valuable in ascertaining exactly what hardware it is that's doing it.

If you wish, you may run a couple of hardware tests. First start off with Memtest and run that overnight. If you see any red on the screen, that's good evidence you have bad RAM. If you wish, you may also run Prime95. Have it go on Torture Test with Blend overnight. If you see the system has crashed or it has reported errors, then run it another night only this time with Large FFTs instead of Blend. If those also report issues or your system crashes during it, then you have either a bad CPU, motherboard, or PSU, with the CPU being prime suspect.

Hello everyone,

I have a BSOD issue and I don?t know how to fix it. As I've seen so far the BSOD error codes are not always the same and this BSOD's happens while playing any game like CS:GO or Dota2 and sometimes just while watching a video on youtube or closing teamspeak.

I've used the program recommended at "BSOD - Posting Instructions" and uploaded the zip file created.

Hope someone can help me

As you noted, the bug codes are almost all different which suggests that there is possibly an underlying issue involved. Also, almost all of your driver appear to be outdated.

I would suggest you go to your Motherboard's web site Motherboards - SABERTOOTH Z87 - ASUS and see if you can find updated Motherboard drivers.

Also, please update your Graphics driver using this method NVIDIA Drivers - Avoid Problems

Please open a elevated command prompt ( click start, type cmd in the search box, right click on the cmd entry and select run as administrator) in the black box that opens, copy/paste sfc /scannow. If you decide to type it, notice the space between the sfc and the /. It is a system file checker which will scan your system files and attempt to correct any missing or corrupt files. What we want are the results to say windows found no integrity violations. If it says files were found but could not be repaired, close the box, reboot and run it again, after opening the administrative command prompt. You may have to reboot and run it three times for it to repair all system files. If it can't repair them after 3 reboots, let us know.

Try those things and let us know if your problem improves any. I would also like to mention that one of the games you mentioned, CS GO is a game that a lot of people seem to have problems with. I don't know why, but many do. It is not one of the games I play so I can give you no suggestions about it.

I would also suggest you make sure your SSD Firmware is up to date and that you run Check Disk on all of your Mechanical hard drives.

Also, if you are overclocking anything, please set it back to default levels, at least until we can get you stable.

I just bought a custom built gaming system, and shortly after I got it I have started to get BSOD's after/while playing Starcraft2 and Diablo III. I have attached .DMP files and system report. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

A:BSOD while playing any game really

These crashes were caused by memory corruption probably a driver.
Please run these two tests to verify your memory and find which driver is causing the problem.

* If you are overclocking anything reset to default before running these tests.
In other words STOP!!!

* If you have a Raid update its Driver.

Memtest.

Quote:
*Download a copy of Memtest86 and burn the ISO to a CD using Iso Recorder or another ISO burning program. Memtest86+ - Advanced Memory Diagnostic Tool

*Boot from the CD, and leave it running for at least 5-7 passes.

Just remember, any time Memtest reports errors, it can be either bad RAM or a bad motherboard slot.

Test the sticks individually, and if you find a good one, test it in all slots.

Any errors are indicative of a memory problem.

If a known good stick fails in a motherboard slot it is probably the slot.

RAM - Test with Memtest86+

Driver Verifier

Quote:
Using Driver Verifier is an iffy proposition.
Most times it'll crash and it'll tell you what the driver is.
But sometimes it'll crash and won't tell you the driver.
Other times it'll crash before you can log in to Windows.
If you can't get to Safe Mode, then you'll have to resort to offline editing of the registry to disable Driver Verifier.

I'd suggest that you first backup your stuff and then make sure you've got access to another computer so you can contact us if problems arise.
Then make a System Restore point (so you can restore the system using the Vista/Win7 Startup Repair feature).

In Windows 7 you can make a Startup Repair disk by going to Start....All Programs...Maintenance...Create a System Repair Disc - with Windows Vista you'll have to use your installation disk or the "Repair your computer" option at the top of the Safe Mode menu .

Then, here's the procedure:
- Go to Start and type in "verifier" (without the quotes) and press Enter
- Select "Create custom settings (for code developers)" and click "Next"
- Select "Select individual settings from a full list" and click "Next"
- Select everything EXCEPT FOR "Low Resource Simulation"IRP Logging and Force Pending I/O Requests. and click "Next"
NOTE: You can use Low Resource Simulation if you'd like.
From my limited experimentation it makes the BSOD's come faster.
- Select "Select driver names from a list" and click "Next"
Then select all drivers NOT provided by Microsoft and click "Next"
- Select "Finish" on the next page.

If you are using win 8 add these
- Concurrency Stress Test
- DDI compliance checking

Reboot the system and wait for it to crash to the Blue Screen.
Continue to use your system normally, and if you know what causes the crash, do that repeatedly.
The objective here is to get the system to crash because Driver Verifier is stressing the drivers out.
If it doesn't crash for you, then let it run for at least 36 hours of continuous operation.
Reboot into Windows (after the crash) and turn off Driver Verifier by going back in and selecting "Delete existing settings" on the first page, then locate and zip up the memory dump file and upload it with your next post.
If you can't get into Windows because it crashes too soon, try it in Safe Mode.
If you can't get into Safe Mode, try using System Restore from your installation DVD to set the system back to the previous restore point that you created.

A:BSOD after playing a game..

Hi turtlee.

I am seeing that you have Driver Verifier enabled over a long time. Is there any particular reason? There is no crash dump that is driver verifier not enabled, so not finding any reason to do it.

Driver Verifier puts a stress on the system, and makes it crash, on purpose.

Disable Driver verifier.

Let us know the results.

Hi,

All of the attached DMP files are of the VIDEO_TDR_FAILURE (116) bugcheck.

The basic definition of a 0x116 bugcheck is:
There may be a bug in the video driver or video hardware. So, let me now explain what VIDEO_TDR_ERROR means. First off, TDR is an acronym for Timeout Detection and Recovery. Timeout Detection and Recovery was introduced in Vista and carried over to Windows 7. Rather than putting exactly what Timeout Detection and Recovery does exactly, I'll just directly quote the MSDN article!
Timeout detection: The GPU scheduler, which is part of the DirectX graphics kernel subsystem (Dxgkrnl.sys), detects that the GPU is taking more than the permitted amount of time to execute a particular task. The GPU scheduler then tries to preempt this particular task. The preempt operation has a "wait" timeout, which is the actual TDR timeout. This step is thus the timeout detection phase of the process. The default timeout period in Windows Vista and later operating systems is 2 seconds. If the GPU cannot complete or preempt the current task within the TDR timeout period, the operating system diagnoses that the GPU is frozen.
To prevent timeout detection from occurring, hardware vendors should ensure that graphics operations (that is, DMA buffer completion) take no more than 2 seconds in end-user scenarios such as productivity and game play. Preparation for recovery: The operating system's GPU scheduler calls the display miniport driver's DxgkDdiResetFromTimeout function to inform the driver that the operating system detected a timeout. The driver must then reinitialize itself and reset the GPU. In addition, the driver must stop accessing memory and should not access hardware. The operating system and the driver collect hardware and other state information that could be useful for post-mortem diagnosis. Desktop recovery: The operating system resets the appropriate state of the graphics stack. The video memory manager, which is also part of Dxgkrnl.sys, purges all allocations from video memory. The display miniport driver resets the GPU hardware state. The graphics stack takes the final actions and restores the desktop to the responsive state. As previously mentioned, some legacy DirectX applications might render just black at the end of this recovery, which requires the end user to restart these applications. Well-written DirectX 9Ex and DirectX 10 and later applications that handle Device Remove technology continue to work correctly. An application must release and then recreate its Direct3D device and all of the device's objects. For more information about how DirectX applications recover, see the Windows SDK. Article here. With this being said, if Timeout Detection and Recovery fails to recover the display driver, it will then shoot the 0x116 bugcheck. There are many different things that can cause a 0x116, which I will explain below:

The following hardware issues can cause a TDR event:

Quote:

1. Unstable overclock (CPU, GPU, etc). Revert all and any overclocks to stock settings.

2. Bad sector in memory resulting in corrupt data being communicated between the GPU and the system (video memory otherwise known as VRAM or physical memory otherwise known as RAM).

GPU testing: Furmark

RAM testing: Memtest86+

3. Corrupt hard drive or Windows install / OS install resulting in corruption to the registry or page file.

HDD diagnostics: Hard Drive Diagnostic Procedure
