Q: BSOD while playing Battlefield 3, ntoskrnl.exe

I play Battlefield 3 for anywhere from 5-25 minutes and get a BSOD

I attached the minidumps.

Preferred Solution: BSOD while playing Battlefield 3, ntoskrnl.exe

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: BSOD while playing Battlefield 3, ntoskrnl.exe

Please provide this info for a more complete analysis: http://www.sevenforums.com/crashes-d...tructions.html

Driver Verifier is turned on and it's purpose is to cause BSOD's. Please turn it off - the BSOD's will either stop or decrease in frequency.

To do this, launch Verifier.exe
Select "Delete existing settings" and click on Finish
Reboot to complete the operation.

You have both nVidia and ATI video drivers installed - why is this? Please uninstall the one that you're not using.

We have seen numerous problems with the USB XBox controller. Please uninstall it's software and remove the device from your system. Then test to see if it stops the BSOD's.

AMD OverDrive (AODDriver2.sys) is either a stand-alone application, or a component of the AMD VISION Engine Control Center. This driver is known to cause BSOD's on some Win7 systems. If you choose to uninstall the AMD/ATI video drivers this step may not be necessary.

Quote:
Please uninstall all AMD/ATI video stuff from Control Panel...Programs...Uninstall a program
Then, download and install a fresh copy of the ATI drivers from http://www.ati.com (in the upper right corner of the page)
- Select the "Custom" installation option and don't let it install AMD OverDrive or the VISION Engine Control Center (if present)
Then use the ATI uninstall manager to uninstall the Catalyst Control Center (CCC). This is a separate issue and isn't required for the AMD OverDrive removal.

If the device (AODDriver or AODDriver4.01) remains a problem, open Device Manager, select the "View" item.
Then select "Show hidden devices" and scroll down to the Non-Plug and Play Drivers section.
Locate the AODDriver entry, right click on it and select "Uninstall". Reboot for changes to take affect.

Sometimes the driver remains and continues to cause BSOD's. If this is the case for you, post back and we'll give further instructions for safely removing it.

If overclocking, please stop. Remove the overclock and return the system to stock/standard values while we're troubleshooting. Once the system is stable again, feel free to resume the overclocking.

Daemon Tools (and Alcohol % software) are known to cause BSOD's on some Win7 systems (mostly due to the sptd.sys driver, although I have seen dtsoftbus01.sys blamed on several occasions).
Please uninstall the program, then use the following free tool to ensure that the troublesome sptd.sys driver is removed from your system (pick the 32 or 64 bit system depending on your system's configuration): DuplexSecure - FAQ

Some free alternatives (I don't use them, so I can't comment on them)
KernSafe iSCSI initiator, Virtual CD/DVD-RW Emulator, Virtual Encryption Disk and Virtual CD/DVD-ROM Emulator All-in-One free software.
MagicISO - Convert BIN to ISO, Create, Edit, Burn, Extract ISO file, ISO/BIN converter/extractor/editor

The following info is just FYI, I've already addressed the issues that I saw in the above paragraphs

Hi guys,
I'm planning to make an order on simpleshoppinglink.com buy I'm still thinking: I want to buy a powerful machine for playing new big games and decided to ask someone's thoughts about it. So what would you buy for playing games: PC or Laptop?
If you choose PC: i7 4790k or i7 4930k? or another proposes?
If you choose laptop: which one?

A:What would you buy for playing games?

An i5 with a good video card. Games are GPU intensive so you'll need a video card to handle the latest games with 8 gigs of memory.

I personally play on a PC. There are those who play on a laptop. It boils down to a personal preference. if you need the mobility you go laptop. However, I can build a PC significantly cheaper.

Hi Guys

I have a Dell latitude ES5500 which is a recon model
It works fine and on start up I hear the fan going. (so I don't think this is the problem)
All of the airways are clear.
When the laptop first arrived I could get 4-5 mins of video or game time before it shut off, it is now down to virtually straight away.
The laptop does not feel hot to touch either and when turned back on will perform any other function ie e mails word processing database and excel etc without a problem.
I can go on facebook and read post search the internet with no problems but as soon as I try to run a video or play a game it drops straight out.
I have to hold the button down to shut the laptop off and then it will restart with no bother.
This is fairly frustrating and I was wondering if anyone had any advice/ solutions to this?

A:Laptop keeps turning off when playing video's or games

It's worth installing HWMonitor or SpeedFan to check temperatures when you are playing video. My laptop fan doesn't kick in until the GPU temperature gets to 60c and it then drops rapidly to about 50c whereas your fan is working from start up.

Hi

Recently I have been getting this weird problem, when playing some graphically demanding games, my pc blacks out for a few seconds then comes back, and sometimes this happens continuously while playing. So I don't know what is actually the problem as I think I have a fairly good pc, please help.

PC Specs:
CPU Intel i5 2550K 3.3Ghz
RAM: 8gb
GPU: Gainward GTX560 Ti 1gb
PSU: Corsair 550w

Hello

When I play Diablo 3 I get some fps drops , usually at the same places. usually im around 130 FPS but can go down to 50 or even 25 sometimes when its bad. its not unplayable but its no fun at all.

The places are demanding I guess, there is a lot of **** on the screen and action all around.

My current setup :

Nvidia 780Ti HOF , goes to around 60C during load
i5 4570 goes to around 65 during load
8 GB ram,

Im assuming the 780Ti should be able to handle Diablo 3 even when its demanding?

I used an AMD r9 290 earlier and got the same issue at the same places.

Before I changed card from the 290 to 780Ti I formated my computer and installed Windows 8 Pro.

So it shouldnt be any software causing this,

Am I doing something wrong here?

Is it perhaps my CPU?

What can I do?

if you want to I can record the actual gameplay and show you

As the tilte says my CPU is jumping to 100% usage for a few seconds then back to normal (40-50%) when playing games.
This is more noticeable when I'm streaming and is more frequent.

This happens when playing games and streaming but not when idle or internet use.

My CPU jumps to 100% use and causing a massive fps drop froim 45-50 to 6fps for the few seconds that it is at full load.

CPU - FX 8320 @4.4Ghz
H100i Cooling
Motherboard - Asrock 970 extreme 4
GPU - GTX 550ti (evga stock speeds)
12GB ram - 8gb crucial tracer tactical and 4gb corsair vengance
1tb WD Black for main storage and OS
1tb WD blue for recordings
264gb ssd's with DayZ on one and arma 2 on the other

any help would be great.

This was posted by Corsair a couple of days ago. What does everyone think? Is this just an attempt to get people to upgrade to shinny corsair ram, or is this finally a reason for gamers to have good ram/ overclock our current sticks?

A:Battlefield 4 loves high-speed memory?

No way the average FPS increases by 20 just by adding faster RAM (1920x1200 ultra graph)... BF3 barely gains 3 FPS from high speed RAM. It is just bloated graphs and marketing.

Finally....

According to those specifications, these are the comparisons- I doubt the card like any other boost assisted board will spend much time at its base frequency, so the lower number can be largely disregarded:

Single precision (theoretical): 4505.6 Teraflops at base clock, 5632 at max boost (as comparison GTX 780: 3978 base/4147 boost and Titan at 4500 base/4709 boost)

Pixel fillrate (theoretical): 35200 - 44000 MPixels/sec ( GTX 780: 41424-43296 and Titan: 40176-42048)
Texture fillrate (theoretical): 140800-176000 MTexels/sec (GTX 780: 165696-173184 and Titan 187488-196672)

7299 Swedish kroner equates to 843 Euro (somewhat higher than the GTX 780 on the same site but substantially lower than Titan) so maybe that BF4 package includes a free mercenary.

I'm extremely confused as to why it's still doing this. I tested my microphone and it doesn't work with my voice. It just plays sounds from my computer. I played a youtube video and I could hear it but not my voice, so its playing sounds from my computer and not my voice.

I've tried everything now. Reinstalled drivers, mic is unmuted, made sure it isn't the steromix selected.. etc.

I have my microphone selected as default device and my headphones set as default. I've been through all the properties and still not luck, need help.

Did this laptop come with Windows 7 Ultimate or did you purchase the OS and thus installed it?
Best bet for you is to get the HP Recovery CD or DVD for your model it will have all the drivers needed for your model. Basically it will install the HP Factory Windows 7 along with everything that's suppose to go with it. This process takes a few hours to run.

So contact HP Tech support tell them you need the Recovery CD/DVD for Model HP laptop. There is a cost for this so be aware. Then you won't have these issues saying graphic driver stopped because you don't have the correct drivers etc. The HP recovery will have all those installed.

Also with every HP system you get recovery with it but it's on the HD in it's own partition so whatever got installed might have blown out that partition and now you have an issue.

I doubt it's the game as there are millions playing it and I'm sure at least thousands with a rig similar to yours. When the game crashes you have the option to have it verify all the files on next launch. Are you choosing to do that?

Hi, I've recently bought a new laptop because the former one had huge, unfixable overheating issues even if I used a cooling pad, didnt play games etc. It was a Acer Aspire 5738G.
My new one is a HP Pavillion G6.
I haven't had any major overheating issues with it yet and it has an average CPU temp of 40-45C when I'm only surfing, which I know is completely normal/safe. When I play games like GTA San Andreas or other older games it goes to around 55C and reaches 60C if I've played it for more than one hour.
Yesterday I tried L.A. Noire, which is a pretty new game and it didnt take more than 5 minutes for the CPU to reach 70C, which gave me haunting memories of the Acer Aspire.
Is this normal/safe? Should I lower the settings?

CPU: Intel i7-3612QM
AMD Radeon HD 7670M (1 GB DDR3)

A:Reaching 70°C when playing a game like L.A. Noire normal?

70c is not to bad try keep the laptop cool as possible. just keep the heat vent clear and you should be fine.
some model of HP do have overheating issues.

Hi there. Just picked up my copy of battlefiled 3 and tried to install it, unfortunately without success.. It seems my DVD drive can't read the disc. I've had this problem before when I got Crysis 2, but at that time a was able to fix it by downloading a new update for the driver. Now I've got the latest firmware update, and it still doesn't work. I bought the drive relatively recently, so it can't possibly be worn out or anything like that.

Help? Stuff like this drives me crazy.. :/

Edit: Emm.. something interesting just occured, I tried to put in disc 2 to see if that read and it DID. This is just plain strange :S

A:Relatively new DVD drive incapable of reading Battlefield 3

Same problem here!

Brand new PC does not read disc 1 from Battlefield 3. It DOES accept disc 2 though.
Don't know what to do, since a very old PC in my house DOES read disc 1 without a problem. Trying to share the working DVD player from my old PC now with my network. Hope it will work...

Hi

I'm currently using one gtx 570 from Palit, and wanted to buy second one to use it with three monitors. I wanted to ask if this setup will allow me play BF3 on multi monitors on ultra high details? And what PC power supply I should buy to run it stable?

Here is my spec

CPU: i7 2700k @ 3.5GHz
Mainboard: Asus P8Z68-V LX
RAM: 8192
GPU: Palit GTX 570 1.3GB

A:Battlefield 3 multi-monitor on 2x GTX 570 SLI

1.25GB of VRAM is not going to be enough over 3 monitors, especially with a demanding game like BF3. Remember when you add another card in SLI you don't get double the VRAM, the useable VRAM will still be 1.25GB.

If you want to go triple monitor you should sell your 570 and get a 670 2GB or 7950 3GB at the very least. If you want to play at full ultra details on BF3 (I.e. 4x MSAA) you'll need SLI 680 4GB or CF 7970. You're tripling the number of pixels you need to push, it won't come cheap!

A good 700-750W PSU will be enough to run a SLI/CF system. But only from a reputable brand, not some cheap PSU which claims to output 700W.

Hi guys I am new to the forums and have been running into some issues when trying to run Battlefield 3 on my Sony Vaio C series. I have been told that its my graphics card so I decided to put it in this thread (sorry if its the wrong one).

Problem:
I am getting less than one frame per second on Fullscreen and plenty of delay when running it in a large window.

Specs:
Serial: VPCCB36FG
Processor: Intel core i5-2430M Processor (2.40 GHz with Turbo Boost up to 3.00GHz)
Graphics: intel HD Graphics 3000 / AMD Radeon HD 6630M, 1 GB
Main Memory: 4GB DDR3 SDRAM

If there is a way to help fix this it would be great because I am saving up for a desktop and I need to feed my thirst for gaming.

I should add its a 2gb graphics card and the towers not over heating so my guess is psu

A:Computer crashing/restarting when playing games

Hi, You should find out what Graphic card you have, and download the correct driver for it.
A clue is that you say it crashes when playing games, but does it crash if you open 'Computer' screen, or say 'Notepad'?
If you just booted the pc and did nothing, just left it on the Desktop screen, would it crash then? ( No, I am guessing.)
So if you can uninstall your current graphic card driver, that's, 'Device manager' ,Look for 'Display adapters',
Click on the tiny arrow to the left of the word 'Display adapters'.
Right click on the name of your card.
Then, 'Properties', 'Driver' tab, 'uninstall driver'.
Reboot the pc, let Windows install a generic driver. (Just wait , it will happen and notify you near the taskbar.)
Go to the Nvidia website, choose 'Support', then 'Download drivers' then 'Option 2' Automatically detect card.
That should find the correct driver for your card.
If it does not, then in your 'Search for files and folders' box, type 'dxdiag'. In the display tab you will see the type of card you have. Go back to the Nvidia site and search for it manually. Get the correct version 32 or 64 bit.
If your problem is the wrong driver, it should now be fixed. If it's the PSU overheating, then you will need to upgrade it.
Hope this makes sense.

Hello,

I've been experiencing a significant decrease in frames when playing games such as Battlefield 3 and Skyrim on my laptop. This problem only occured after cleaning my laptop from Sirefef trojans (Thread for solved Sirefef issue: http://www.techspot.com/community/t...and-sirefef-y-laptop-keeps-restarting.182428/).

My laptop has the following specs:
Windows 7 64-Bit OS (Professional)
Intel Core i7 (Dual Core)
12GB RAM
NVIDIA GeoForce GT540M (1GB)
I've always been able to play my games under 50 - 60 FPS, especially when my charger is plugged until now. I don't understand why this is no longer possible after the sirefef-trojan-cleaning-process.

What can I do to solve this issue?

I should also note that my games, particularly Battlefield 3, only runs at a dreadful 20 frames or less at the moment. This applies when my laptop is both charging or not charging

A:Laptop reducing FPS when playing games after cleaning Sirefef trojans

Try formatting and re-installing Windows fresh. Most laptops have built-in factory restore options on boot up. Virus infections can leave nasty things behind or file damage even after they are "removed"

Hello. Built my PC about three weeks ago - MSI GTX 680, i5-2500k, 8GB RAM @ 1600 MHz. I ran Battlefield 3 with no performance issues at all. However, today I've been bothered with rather (seemingly) low FPS. I've checked my ping, it goes from 13 to 17. In more intense scenes (multiplayer), I can already see the lag.

Basically, my 680 performs as if it's a 480. I haven't made any changes to my computer. I've tried reinstalling the drivers, but that didn't solve anything. I doubt it's a heat issue since the game was alright even yesterday, and I didn't remove any fans. I also don't think dust would have filled up my computer overnight.

What do you think is the problem? Could something happen to my card and should I get a replacement? Could it be a CPU issue instead? Thanks for your answers in advance.

A:GTX 680 Battlefield 3 performance issues

The cause of your lowered frame rates could be many things, I'd take a look at the memory first with Memtest86+ and make sure nothing is amiss, and then I'd look at the hard drive with the manufacturers disk check utility. Now if both of those items checked out, I'd start searching for malware with Malwarebytes and your antivirus program.

My rig is getting old, (running AMD 5400BE and nvidia 8800GT).. The release of Battlefield 3 and all it's glory has prompted me to put together a new build.

Thoughts?
MB: ASUS Sabertooth 990X (or ASUS Crosshair V ?)
CPU: AMD Phenom II x6 1090T Black-Edition 3.3GHz
GPU: MSI GTX570 TwinFrozr III
RAM: Recommendations? (DDR3)
Storage: OCZ Vertex 3 120GB SSD
PSU: Rosewill 650watt (i already have this, may need upgraded?)

With everything the build is around $880 (with promo and rebate on Newegg), and would like to keep it under/around $1000.

Also, is the SSD entirely necessary? Are there HDD options that are comparable at a lower price? (SSD listed is $150 with promo code). I have an external 1TB hard drive, so space isnt an issue, I'm looking for speed.

Any recommendations to add, subtract, or substitute from the build would be VERY much appreciated.

Thanks,
Patrick

A:Battlefield 3 killer?

I also have a GTX 570 and it runs very nicely on ultra settings in BF3 . That MSI one should overclock pretty high too.

RAM is so cheap nowadays you should be able to get 8GB 1600Mhz for next to nothing.

I run my OC GTX 570 and OC i7 920 on a 550w Corsair PSU so I think yours should be ok.

I would really recommend the SSD, makes your whole system faster and snappier as well as the quicker game load times. 120GB should be enough for your OS/games/programs.

I have a sony vaio VGN nw350f that keeps freezing while playing online videos and games. When it freezes the sound will keep playing but at a slower, louder, more annoying speed. Sometimes when I restart or turn on the laptop after shutting it off it will tell me "Operating system not found" or just blink _ at me. Don't know if these symptoms are related.

I tried downloading both intel and sony display drivers where at first I was able to install, now when I try to install any of the drivers it says I don't have the right drivers for the right OS.

OS: windows 7 x64

edit: I have already restored the HDD to factory default.

I am looking to update my video card to be able to run Battlefield 3 at a reasonable speed. So I don't waste all of your time, could you give me a list of things you would need to know to give an insightful opinion? I have some understanding of IT terms, but am not an expert, so please, no overly complex terminology.

Thanks in advance.

A:Updating my PC for Battlefield 3

Welcome to TechSpot

You want to know what you need to know to work out if you can put X video card into your existing system?

Depending on the age of the system you need to know:

- Does your motherboard have a PCI-E (PCI-Express) slot for the card? Most modern cards use this connection to the motherboard. Some AGP (Accelerated Graphics Port) models are still available but often are expensive for little real world performance increase due to them using the older slot type.
- Does your Power Supply Unit (PSU) have a high enough wattage to be able to power a modern card? (550-660W minimum I'd suggest depending on what components are already in our system)
- Does the PSU have additional PCI-E power cable connections for powering the graphics card?
- What size is your system case? What form factor is the motherboard? Graphics cards have been getting bigger and bigger and smaller cases for small motherboards(Mini/Micro ATX) sometimes can't accommodate longer cards. If you have a tower base unit of some type and it has an ATX form factor motherboard in it you should be fine.

An additional consideration is what CPU you have. There is a problem known as "bottlenecking". This is where the CPU is of a slower/older type and prevents the graphics card from running at it's maximum possible performance due. If you post the specifications of the system you are looking to upgrade forum members will post opinions on the best way forward for you to upgrade it for BF3. To use a car analogy, there is not as much benefit fitting racing/performance parts to a car with a small engine in comparison to the benefit you get fitting the same parts to a car with a large high performance engine.

Hi, I have a serious problem. Here is my pc specs

CPU = i7 2600k 3.4 gHz
GPU = MSI lightning 6970 2gb
RAM = 8gb

I played battlefield 3 a couple of hours in ultra ultra mode with absolutely no lag and no glitch.. nothing ... perfect !!! .... But suddenly, some graphics glitched. Things around me started to change colors like blue, red, green, white and black if you know what i mean ... something like a cyber graphic glitch and its annoying.. Can you help me to solve this problem please ..

Am very sorry for my bad english.

A:Battlefield 3 graphics problem

Hmm. Check your temps. I use Speccy myself, but I'm sure someone else can give you a better program. You could use MSI Afterburner to check the temps of your GPU in particular.

Check your drivers, also. AMD/NVIDIA released drivers specifically for this game (kinda) that increased performance and shot some glitches down. Try running the game with minimal software in the background. Make sure you don't have any form of ambx running (ambx being the lights that got popular) as it causes crashes still.

Good luck, post any results and temps here to know if you should look at something.

Also; Does the graphics stay glitched after you alt-tab out of the game.

A:Problem with sound while playing games

Is your Creative sound card rather old? Have you tried updating it's drivers from the Creative website?

Hi guys, new to the forum. My PC specs are on my profile.

So, I have had no problems playing certain .avi video files on my computer, but this evening, for no apparent reason, I tried to play a video and it wouldn't play. Other videos still play, but the ones from my camera do not.

I thought this could have been a codec issue, so I downloaded the latest K-lite Mega codec pack and installed it, but to no avail. An error message came up on Media Player Classic, which can be found here:

Your assistance in this matter is highly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

DMA is enabled...

The sound is synced to the voices, but the music seems to be playing slowly. Like in slow motion.

Have tried playing with several different audio players... VLC (VLC default codecs) and k-lite codecs as well...

Any suggestions?

Thanks much..

I hope i have the right board. Anyway I have a sony viao laptop.
It plays random adverts all the time. It also happens when I click play on a youtube videos or the likes. It'll play over the video its very annoying.

I have scanned the laptop with fully updated AVG, NOD32, SPYBOT, MALWARE BYTES, SUPER ANTISPYWARE.
not all at once but installed them one at a time an updated them.
they all found absolutly nothing.

I've uninstalled most programs also to narrow it down but it seems to be none of them.

I've always had AVG up to date so I dont know how this happened.

Does anybody have any ideas? I'd hate to have to wipe the laptop cause im away from home for a few months and dont have discs and drivers etc.

Cheers

Hiya

I've just been browsing on the internet through my wireless router.
Now its not working, its saying i'm connected to the router but not letting me go online.

I did the cmd winsock thing and that made no difference. I then connected through the cable and it was working fine, now i've unplugged from the router and its loading reallllllly slow/un usable.

Whats happened? it was saying it couldnt connect to dns server 192.168.1.1, but then it started working... but now its not :/

A:Samsung Vista laptop wireless now playing up

This sounds like either a fault with the routers wireless transmission or your wireless card in the PC.

Start by resetting the router, there should be a reset button somewhere on it, usually you will need a thin wire to push into the whole and hold it until the router responds. This will reset it to default so any security settings will need to be reset.

If there is no change take a look in Device Manager for your wireless card under Network Adapters, right click on the device and select properties, check to see if it reports any problems. If no problems are reported try uninstalling the device and then reboot so that windows will reload the drivers.

Let us know how you get on.

have you tried different player? i.e. vlc or media player classic.
it can also be a codec issue, have you tried other video types?

yes i have tried both PowerDVD Mk I and Mk II and both are filled with bugs, especially when dealing with certain codecs. although i have to admit the video effects are sometimes useful.

hi all this is a update to my other post. i now realised what was causing the screeching sound. having levels on my monitor up causes noise from the computer to be heared. before i upgraded having the monitors on 0% would be silent and turning up would not give of noises. now having them at 0% music plays with no noises and can be controled in windows but wont reach loud levels because of the speakers being at -30db. im guessing there is a setting somewhere that can be altered to lower the system volume so i can just turn up the monitors themselvs?

i am using realtek hd audio on a gigabyte x58 usb3 and vista 32

Hello everyone ... I have a problem with this almost about 2 months and still can't figure out how to have static multiplier ... Everytime it drops everything starts to lag in games ... I have an AMD Phenom X3 8450 2.1ghz NO OC cooled by Artic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro rev. 2 temperatures while Idle 37-39 C and while gaming 43-46 C monitored by SpeedFan ... I even turned off Cool 'n' Quiet in BIOS and it didn't help and even in Windows ( I have Xp ) I switched power management to Always ON and didn't helped anything ... I even tryied overclocking programs so i could set my multiplier to 10.5x for having it stable but I couldn't even change that because all the options for managing multiplier were locked for unknown reason ... Please someone give me some more tips because i'm getting hopeless on this

It would probably help to know what motherboard you're using.

See if you can find AMD C1E Support in your BIOS and disable it, that might help.

Well when I run an online game (Runescape) it runs quite good until it freezes for 1-2 seconds, then goes back to normal. It does this every 5-10 minutes and causes me alot of problems.

My laptop is fairly new and I have just re-installed Vista, but the specs are:

- Processer - (Intel Pentium Dual 1.73 GHz)
- RAM - (2G)

From looking at my processor and RAM it looks like the game should be running fine, and when I try and run the game in high detail it just lags completely, please help I've been looking everywhere for this solution!

A:My laptop lags when playing an online game!

Do you have antivirus software installed? Try disabling that during gameplay, or at the very least disable auto-updates as a test. Same goes for windows updates. Also, close any other windows and programs you aren't using before playing, it might make a difference.

Have you checked for crud in your keyboard... any cause for a sticking key, sticking space bar, etc.

Don't see how the hard drive could cause the problem.

Have you looked at all the Dell Beep Codes... They are posted elsewhere on this TechSpot forum... that could give you a starting point.

Well, i have 5.1 creativ speakers got about 2 years back. they worked fine with wxp but when i upgraded to wvista and w7 all hell broke loose. at a point in time in vista i got the rear speakers to work. when i upgraded to w7, i also got the rear speakers to work eventually. i now have a new motherboard with shitty drivers and can't get the rear speakers to work. in the tests they work but when i play music, watch movies anything nothing comes out of the front centre or rear speakers. any help guiz?
TY
p.s. the drivers my mobo uses are VIA HD Audio deck. i've tried uninstall all sound drivers and reinstalling but to no aveil
p.s. also at one point in time few days ago everything was working but the next day the rears just stopped...

A:5.1 Speakers rear and mid sound not playing any sound apart from test

did all the speakers sound when test in via hd audio deck or windows 7 audio control panel?

if yes, most likely you will need to enable the 'upmix' feature of VIA. I'm not sure what is it called, but in Realtek it is called Realtek Speaker Fill or Dolby ProLogic IIx. If there isn't any, you may want to try Channel Mixer for foobar2000.

So i decided to fire up my brothers computer that he hasnt used for about 2 years and keep running into the bsod with the error about nvlddmkm.sys for my graphics card, the monitor is also blurred as in the colors are distorted and random colors will blurr to the right or the left of where they should be. I can get it to bootup once i go into safe mode and delete the nvlddmkm.sys but when i try and install the latest driver and reboot the same problem and same error pops up. Any advice on how to fix this error? And I was hoping that by installing the newest driver properly that perhaps the blurry screen will clear up, is that just wishfull thinking or could the blurry screen actually be fixed? The computer is running vista 64 with 4g ram and 750w psu. Thanks for the help guys.

A:BSOD video card 8800gtx error: nvlddmkm.sys

as you can imagine nvlddmkm.sys is part of the driver installation so simply deleting it will either cause errors or blue screens. there are a number of things that could be causing this to happen, such as corrupted files, a bad power supply, or even the card itself. the first thing i would advise is to do a clean installation of the display drivers, which requires you to use a piece of software such as Driver Sweeper to completely purge the associated driver files. once this is done, you can restart the computer and proceed to install the drivers normally.

if this fails, you may be looking at corruption in Vista itself or possibly with the motherboard chipset drivers. there's also a slim chance that you need to update DirectX software or frameworks for graphics-based software. if it comes down to having to test the actual hardware, there are limited options. the best way would be to test the card in another computer (preferably one with a different OS) and to test the power supply and RAM if you can. is there any reason in particular that the computer hasn't been used for a couple of years? there's always a possibility that your brother knew to replace something and never did

Here are my computer specs:
- CPU: AMD Phenom x4 9750
-Ram: 8 GB
-Hard drive: 750 GB
-Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce 9100 integrated graphics.
- PSU: 250 watt

I play video games fine on my computer, usually around 30 FPS. But sometimes, my FPS will drop to around 2 FPS, and stay like that for about 2 minutes, then return to normal. During this, my computer runs very slow. Does anyone know why it's doing this? (This just started recently. I've had my computer for about a year.)

A:Sudden crashes when playing video games

Totally wrong power supply for the equipment listed...
Have you tried just trading out the power supply for one with over 500 watts and good connectors, for a short test?

Depending on the brand and model of the 750 GB hdd, that could be contributing to the problem...

The CPU and the graphics card will also have peformance sufferance with that power supply

When you replace it, get a first class, decent one... from the many posts here on techspot... There are about 10 brands that are good and 80 that are bad.

My videocard is Radeon 9200 Pro 128 mb
Ram 526mb..
When i start playing games..Example.. Plant vz, Zombie .. My monitor turned off suddenly and if i will use the alt+tab key.. it will go back to desktop and it will on.. can someone help me?? Is this because of the video card?? or anything??

A:My monitor turned off when playing games

Could be several things...could be a faulty cable, could be a bad connection...yes..it could be the video card. I have found that when weird graphical things start to happen and you have random shut downs or black outs...it's usually a heat problem in your system that's causing the video card to shut down. Make sure you have enough power going to your video card. When you really start playing a game if your PSU is starting to fail it might not be giving enough juice to the card and thus it shuts down. There are just so many things that could be the problem with your description.

Ok, so just recently, when I start any game (whether it be CS:S or Guild Wars) my monitor goes black but you can still hear the game sound. I've never had this problem with my computer before and it has just started recently. My hardrive is still spinning so it's not like it is crashing so I have no idea. It just recently stopped going black for CS:S (Counter-Strike:Source on Steam) but now it does it for Guild Wars (MMO/RPG) so I'm really confused. My monitor is find doing everything else and never have experienced this problem doing anything else on computer. Any ideas?

I'd say it's your graphics card failing or possibly the power supply getting weak.

Hello everyone,

I just bought some Hardware to build a new computer from Scratch.

I bought:

1. Asus P5E3 Pro Motherboard (DDR3 RAM DIMMS)
2. PSU Coolmax CUL-750B 750W
3. 2x2GB OCZ OCZ3G10664GK R (DDR3 RAM)
4. VGA Card - ASUS ENGTS250/DI/512MD3
5. Intel Core 2 Quad Q8400 2.66Ghz 1333

I installed Windows 7 x64bit OEM

I am having problems with BSOD (different ones not the same one every time)

I would like to know if its a compatibility Problem with My RAM and Motherboard or could it be something else. I am very bad with Hardware and I just bought parts that I knew could fit in theory.

BIOS is set to default because I don't know how to configure it (Probably thinking why did I buy parts instead of a built computer)

Could you please help?

A:Compatible RAM for Asus P5E3 Pro Motherboard (BSOD)

Your RAM isn't on Asus' memory QVL (Qualified Vendors List)-but that isn't to say that it's not supported.
Having your power supply checked might be an option if your graphics card seems to run slow or you are getting fluctuating performance.
Because OCZ memory modules lack what are called embedded XMP profiles, your motherboard will have difficulty assigning a setting for them so you will need to do it manually.
Download Memtest86+ from here http://www.memtest.org/#downiso
***under the Memtest86+ v4.00, select "Download -Pre-compiled bootable iso ", save and unzip if downloading the zip file then burn a BOOTABLE CD using ImgBurn or your usual burning software (Nero etc.).- this program runs at BIOS level
Download MemSet here http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/System-Info/MemSet.shtml
You can also download CPU-Z -it gives a much simplified version of the RAM timings but you can also access chipset and CPU info. download here http://www.cpuid.com/cpuz.php

First order of business would be ascertain whether the RAM modules are not defective.
I presume the RAM in question is OCZ's Gold XTC modules - if they are then you can try to manually select the timings- they should be on a sticker on the side of the RAM, which should be 7-7-7-21 ( CAS (or CL)-tRCD-tRP-tRAS) at 1.5 to 1.6 volts.
IF THIS IS NOT YOUR RAM THEN GO NO FURTHER, If it is then you need to set it in order to test it for stability.
Boot into your BIOS. Select the second tab "A.I.Tweaker"
Set PCIE Frequency to 100 (if not already set)
Set DRAM Frequency to DDR3-1066 (if not already set)
Set DRAM Command rate to 2T (if not already set)
Set DRAM Timing Control to Manual
Note the string of timings following "Pri.Information" on the next line-they should be the same as the settings you are about to input.
Set CAS# Frequency to 7 DRAM Clocks
Set RAS# to CAS# Delay to 7 DRAM Clocks
Set RAS# Precharge to 7 DRAM Clocks
Set RAS# Active time to 21 DRAM Clocks
leave the rest of the timings on Auto for now and move down the page until you get to..
DRAM Voltage ....type in 1.60
Hit F10 to save and exit
**If you can boot into windows then run Memset (NOT the Memtest86+ cd you burned!) and note -or better still get a screen capture of the timings (and include in your next post)-here is an example of one of my old screenshots-take no notice of the values but note that both modules SPD (A and B )values are shown-so expand the window.

** If you cannot load Windows then get back to the BIOS and revert settings by choosing Restore Defaults, F10 to save and exit. The likely cause will be insufficient MCH (Northbridge) voltage.
If Memset shows you the correct values and voltage then you can move on to testing.
Reboot and select CD as your first bootable drive
Insert your Memtest86+ bootable cd into the drive
Hit F10 to save and exit
Memtest86+ will boot automatically once the motherboard POST's. As it's a DOS program it is fairly straightforward -The test actually comprises 8 seperate tests. Once all 8 have run then your RAM has completed a "Pass" -for 4Gb a Pass takes around 20-30 minutes.
Run 7 (minimum) to 12 passes. If the testing shows no errors then stop the test at your leisure.
Return to your BIOS, change the boot order back to Harddrive (I assume)
Take the CD out of the drive
F10 to save and exit -congratulations your RAM is stable. The next step would be to stress test the CPU/RAM fo test for stability- but one thing at a time

If the test throws up errors then note the Number of the test and the error code- the test will continue if the errors are not to great. If the testing serquence stops then stop the test, reboot, change boot order, remove cd and F10.
The RAM could fail from either physical damage it has suffered or the timing (and sub-timings) are unstable. We can look into that if the need arises.

A:Help computer shows blue screen and reboots after playing any video?

please do a mem test on the ram
however the graphics card looks like it requires an update
the ATI RADEON XPRESS 200 is a June 2005 card so if you are trying to play anything with HD content embeded in the video stream...your computer will bottleneck and freeze

What are the idle temps on your system?

I assume you have all the latest drivers installed for the GTS 250. It does look like a heat issue. Have you actually seen the PC working properly at your builder's? Also, since you've had the machine for 2 months, did the issues occur earlier or just recently?

A:PC keeps restarting when playing game?

Hi bramie,

No need to apologize for your English - it is better than some of the native speakers! lol

I think that you need to work through a process of elimination with this. What was different when the PC was at the store?

ie. When your PC is at home, what items do you have plugged in that you did not take to the store?

This would be my first thought. Also, if the PC is restarting, Windows is probably creating a mini-dump file for debugging (C:\Windows\minidump\) . This may help to find the problem, so if you have any, please post them.

It probably is your psu. It likely doesn't have enough 12v amperage, as many of the thermaltake 480w versions only have 18a, and for sli, you should have at least 26a.
A nice ocz, seasonic, enermax or antec 500w psu(sli ready) should be a good fix.

Recently I've been having some troubles playing Guild Wars, it start with occasional 1-2 second blackouts, then another time the game crash and gave me a display driver error message, today it went too far ^_^
I got the usual 1 second blackout and then when the screen came up again all the pixels were flashing and messing up the screen, screenshot below..

What's causing this? How can I stop this?

Additional info:
Using an NVidia GeForce 8600 GT graphics card, 2 months old or so.
Running Windows Vista
I can play Crysis on medium spec without any problems.
Also an unusual sound comes from the graphics card, only while guild wars is running, no smell of burning, graphics card is only warm.

Check your system logs for clues as well before making any move, you can do that by going to Control Panel, Admin Tools, and Event Viewer; you should see some error logs over there about your freezes and perhaps crashes as well along with details and Even ID.

This freezing only happens about every 20-30 min and I can easily fix it by ctrl+alt+del then going back into the game. I checked the temp of my GPU and its only at 36 C. Cpu is low as well. What could be causing this? All my specs of my computer are listed under my system. Thanks in advance for your help.

A:Lack screen then desktop when trying to start Battlefield 2

make sure the correct drivers have been installed and make sure to patch the game to the latest build. bf2 is an older game so there are probably 9 series fixes in the updates. you could also try reinstalling your video drivers and using Driver Sweeper to purge the system of any old driver files that may have been associated with your old video adapter.

I use win xp pro, and I just installed Windows Media Player, but why the player stop playing in full-screen mode? It's ok minutes ago. I know this question is kind of stupid, any one knows how to fix it.

A:Why does the Player stop playing in full-screen mode?

It is a feature of Windows Media Player, not a fault
It will automatically pause when manually selecting "Full Screen" (I suspect just to allow you to get ready)
You then need to press "Play" to play it again

Can I also suggest that you try another Media Player > Free VLC Media Player
It does an excellent job at playing most movies (anyway, much more than WMP) And is very easy to use, and I use it

My problem is when I play counterstrike source or any other game it seems to skip and lag, kind of like a hiccup. When I walk the floor shakes like crazy. I wish I knew what the problem was. Here are my specs.

NVIDIA 8000GS
1000W Toughtpower
ASUS P5Q deluxe mobo
6600 @ 2.40ghz 2GB RAM

Does this problem occur e mediately when you start up the game or does it take some time before it starts, also by floor shakes you mean the textures in the game are going all crazy like?

check my system specs....i want to play gta iv , my system gives me around 23fps with all settings medium and resolution set to 1440x900

i want to get more fps but no matter which settings i lower, it doesnt help, only using a lower resolution helps....is there any way that i can mayb overclock my graphics card a bit so that i can get a few more FPS at 1440x900?

Well, you have 2 gigs of ram, which I think for any gamer that plays current games is a big NO. Your video card isnt even built to handle the game with higher textures. As I'll say now, upgrade your vga, and anyone else will say it too.

In the past after a reboot I would successfully have my TV work as my monitor, but only with on-mobob video processor with the RGB cable going to the computer or TV. My dilemma is even after adjusting my display settings to automatically check for new display settings (warning this will slow up start up time) I still cannot get my 8800 gts to display into a RGB port. I have my DVI to RGB adapter connected to the card and the RGB cable refuses to display with either my monitor or plasma TV. Luckily my monitor has a DVI port but my 50 inch plasma doesn't. I'm going to assume the adapter here isn't broken and i've missed some configuration settings on vista or the 8800, maybe my gts 8800 isn't configured to plug and play nice with RGB ports? How do I fix this issue?
