Q: Regular BSOD's after wake up

Hello all Been having ongoing issues with BSOD's wake Regular up after this desktop for years and sadly have never done anything about it Pretty regularly when waking my desktop up from sleep my video goes a bit haywire not all the time and seconds to minutes sometimes longer I end up with Regular BSOD's after wake up a BSOD When I say the video goes haywire I mean that I get a lot of weird random lines screen tears between both monitors Again though this doesn't always happen Regular BSOD's after wake up pre-BSOD and overall this has become less frequent Regular BSOD's after wake up in comparison to what it used to be Pretty confident it's not software related as I've performed multiple formats as well as have tried both W and W I'm assuming it's hardware however I have no idea what specific components are causing the issues I have to assume it's something video card related Hardware from - ASUS Crosshair IV Formula AM AMD FX SATA Gb s USB ATX AMD Motherboard - XFX HD- X-ZNFC Radeon HD GB -bit DDR PCI Express x HDCP - COOLER MASTER Silent Pro Gold Series RSA - GAD -US W ATX V v EPS V v SLI Ready - AMD Phenom II X T Black Edition Thuban GHz Socket AM W Six-Core Desktop Processor - G SKILL Ripjaws Series GB x GB -Pin DDR SDRAM DDR PC Desktop Memory Model - G SKILL Phoenix Pro Series FM- S S- GBP quot GB SATA II MLC Internal Solid State Drive SSD I've also attached the SF diag tool dumps Please help me fix this The hardware may be a bit dated but it does the job I've been toying with the idea of a new build but don't really have the funds Thanks

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

W7 PC wakes up from sleep every few minutes. It didn't use to. I am the builder / owner / sole user. Investigation done so far at the DOS prompt to establish the cause:

powercfg -devicequery wake_armed
(no results returned)

powercfg -waketimers
There are no active wake timers in the system

powercfg -lastwakeWake History Count - 1
Wake History [0]
Wake Source Count - 0Other ideas to try and establish the cause with please?

Hello,

For the last month or so I am having regular bsod, 2-3 times in a day sometimes. I have tried to troubleshoot this problem based on past references posted on different threads but not much success.

I have attached all the relevant files now based on the SF Diagnostics thread under Seven Forums.zip.

Hello, I just finished building a new pc, and I installed windows XP x64 Service Pack 2 as the OS. Now I am getting a blue screen every half hour or so. It was just happening when I close some programs, but now I cannot let it set overnight with out one happening. I cannot figure out why this is. Is there any way to stop this from happening?

Hi,

I am suffering from unpredictable but regular BSODs, one or more a day and they seem to be getting more frequent. They occur when I am doing light browsing or emailing, one yesterday happened during a system restore.

The BIOS is up to date and have tried several versions of the video drivers, currently (I think) the windows 7 native version. I have definitely removed the catalyst utility.

I have attached the contents of my minidump folder.

Any help would be very appreciated because I'm running out of ideas.

I've been browsing this website for some time and getting excellent solutions to problems. So when I started getting recurring BSOD, I knew this was the place to come to get the solution.

These have just started occurring regularly in the last week, and every day for the last three days. Usually the crash happens when I'm away from the computer, but yesterday morning I was present to see that it was a "driver power state failure" (at least yesterday's was).

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

We would be happy to help, but these DMP files a re corrupt and contain no useful information.

They all say copy. Where are the originals, and how did you copy and compress these.

Hi all, I get a BSOD quite often. Not sure what the cause is, have done a couple of fresh installs in the past but still happens. Here's the latest dump files. Seems to be a different file causing it everytime! Thanks in advance for any help.

Click on the Start
Type msinfo32 into the Search programs and files box
When it opens, go to File, Save
Save as msinfo32.nfo and save in a place you will remember
Let it finish the process of gathering and saving the system info
Right click the .nfo file, click send to compressed (zipped) folder
Upload the .zip file here.

Hey guys, Ive had my netbook a couple of years now and installed windows 7 almost a year ago now. Over the last few days it has began to regularly get BSOD or sometimes restarts after giving a message 'A critical error has occurred and windows will restart in 1 minute please save your work now'. I cant think what could be causing the problem. Please could someone take a look?

Hi all

Getting a regular BSOD and can't see any obvious pattern or cause. I don't know anything about reading .dmp reports and analysing to find problem. Appears it might be related to mv91xx.sys driver but to be honest I have no clue. Any help very much appreciated.

It is Related to mv91xx.sys magni Windows Driver from Marvell Semiconductor, Inc. I would re-install newest driver available

These might be contributing factors in the crashes.

How To Find Drivers:

Since upgrading to Windows Bit and now Bit I am having nothing but BSOD problems almost one a day The machine prviously had Vista with very few problems The BSOD error message seems Regular BSOD to vary but I managed to write the latest down page fault in non paged area X Not sure how to read the screen dump but attached Google suggests this error may be a RAM issue but I have not had problems prior to Win and I have run Regular BSOD a memory check in Windows on reboot and that comes back fine The BSOD come at different times different programs but mainly at the moment I am watching a lot of live Olympics from the BBC website when the majority happen but other BSOD have happened on normal usage bit less frequent Intel Core CPU T ghz gig Ram Any ideas what to check and how Not sure how I can check my RAM laptop not even sure where to find them in the laptop

I guess multiple issues are going on. Mainly its Memory. Lets start with basics. If your Overclocking please stop. Make sure your BIOS has the latest firmware. If you using any Antivirus or Firewall uninstall it and see whether that make any difference. Also the dump is pointing to win32k.sys which is basically a GUI related driver. So its worth uninstalling the current Display driver and download the driver from vendors website and NOT from Windows update. Also the crash has happened when you was browsing might be related to your Network card also the NIC card is not very updated one. Its worth updating the Network card driver from the manufactures website NOT from Windows Update.

I've been getting frequent BSODs when doing normal things like browsing the web in google chrome and not when doing more intensive tasks like playing games. The errors all seemed to reference some memory issues so I ran memtest86+ for 8 passes and got no errors. I also uninstalled the soft ether vpn driver that was referenced in one of my earlier crash dumps.
After I removed the driver the number of BSODs has gone down but I'm still getting some.

I ran the DM Log Collector 5 times and restarted my PC/ re-downloaded the exe and the zip file was never created even though the tool ran. I used the SF Diagnostic tool instead and was able to get that to work. I've attached the results to this post.

Hello, so i think i have dealt with this bluescreen 3times now, and it seemed to have gone away after i went from my amd system to intel. But now its there again. The most useful function ever, wake from sleep, is now bluescreening my computer. I instantly tried to use the Disply Driver Uninstaller because thats how i solved this before, but no luck... They are pointing to your network driver. You might want to roll back to a older driver and see if that helps. Or go to the computer Venders site and download a driver.

Hi - We are finding multiple machines (setup identically) with BSOD appearing at different sites, whilst running out own application, need some help with interpreting the dump files which are attached, if anyone can point us in the right direction?

Tried using different brand machines but same error occurs, though this is limited to Windows 7, XP did not suffer this issue.

These crashes were caused by memory corruption probably a driver.
Please run these two tests to verify your memory and find which driver is causing the problem.

* If you are overclocking anything reset to default before running these tests.
In other words STOP!!!

* If you have a Raid update its Driver.

Memtest.

- Go to Start and type in "verifier" (without the quotes) and press Enter
- Select "Create custom settings (for code developers)" and click "Next"
- Select "Select individual settings from a full list" and click "Next"
- Select everything EXCEPT FOR "Low Resource Simulation" and click "Next"
NOTE: You can use Low Resource Simulation if you'd like.
From my limited experimentation it makes the BSOD's come faster.
- Select "Select driver names from a list" and click "Next"
Then select all drivers NOT provided by Microsoft and click "Next"
- Select "Finish" on the next page.

If you are using win 8 add these
- Concurrency Stress Test
- DDI compliance checking

Reboot the system and wait for it to crash to the Blue Screen.
Continue to use your system normally, and if you know what causes the crash, do that repeatedly.
The objective here is to get the system to crash because Driver Verifier is stressing the drivers out.
If it doesn't crash for you, then let it run for at least 36 hours of continuous operation.
Reboot into Windows (after the crash) and turn off Driver Verifier by going back in and selecting "Delete existing settings" on the first page, then locate and zip up the memory dump file and upload it with your next post.
If you can't get into Windows because it crashes too soon, try it in Safe Mode.
If you can't get into Safe Mode, try using System Restore from your installation DVD to set the system back to the previous restore point that you created.

Hello all First of all here are my system specs Intel R Core TM i CPU GHz CPUs GHz Gigabyte EX -UD R Motherboard GB DDR RAM NVIDIA GeForce GTX Right I'm kinda at my wit's end here For the past months I guess my computer unexpectedly BSOD while I am playing a game This all started last October when I started blue screening every minutes or so in Civilization V after a bit of tinkering and while Regular BSOD gaming advice from friends I removed a stick of RAM so that I only had gb remaining and this solved all of my problems Fast forward half a year and I decided to put the stick back in and fix whatever problems occurred little did I know that this would destroy what sanity I have BSOD constantly plagued me as I gamed with little to no help from the resulting mini dumps After running Memtest a few errors sprung up and so I decided to Regular BSOD while gaming order some new RAM I slotted in this new Regular BSOD while gaming RAM and within minutes a lovely shiny blue screen greated me I ran Memtest with this new RAM on my computer and on another and no errors showed At this point I thought it was a motherboard problem so I sent back the RAM and used Prime to make sure Prime reported no errors which to be honest did confuse me also looking back at the crash dumps a lot of old drivers were cropping up as the problem I even tried removing a stick like I did a few months back but the errors still occurred Because of this i decided to fully wipe my C drive and start from scratch I was planning on doing it this summer anyway I re installed a few games and made sure that every driver I downloaded was the most recent I could get This worked fine for a week or two and I ran into exactly the same problem so I ran Driver Verifier to find the culprit The driver DB G sys the driver used for my mouse flared up big time causing crashes like crazy After a bit of digging around I found an old beta driver designed just for Windows and installed it this cleared up this problem however the dll file it uses is from you cannot get a newer version before anyone says and the BSOD still struck Recently I've run every single debugging and checking program under the sun Memtest Prime FurMark chkdsk I've defragged it and ran it safe mode countless times checked that the all the pins inside are straight and touching what they need to be touching and read countless forum posts but I still seem to run into BSOD after BSOD The recent batch of minidumps point to memory problems and problems with DirectX so now I'm starting to think my GPU or its VRAM is the culprit However I don't want to jump to conclusions and order a new one without proper confirmation I've included the minidump as the forums ask and I can gladly answer any additional questions people may have This whole thing is really getting to me as I can't play any form of game without fear of crashing and I kinda need my computer running fine when I go back to my Games Design course at University Any advice tips help would be greatly appreciated O and sorry for this huge wall of text thanks for getting this far I wanna show how big a predicament this is and provide any details people may need without having to ask

I am currently experiencing BSOD issues with my PC during regular use The BSOD Errors use, BSOD Various during regular does not seem to be associated with any particular task as it has occurred BSOD during regular use, Various Errors while the computer is idle or in use with or without any extraneous programs After each BSOD there are issues in restarting and it will occasionally either refuse to boot correctly and simply spin the fans or it will crash mid-boot and attempt to restart The PC only boots properly once turned off completely and restarted through the use of the On Off button as the restart button simply begins the cycle of boot crash again Each BSOD has also caused issues with programs managing to either corrupt or remove files that are integral to their operation For instance my attempts to run Path of Exile are thwarted due to some missing audio files and Mechwarrior Online BSOD during regular use, Various Errors is missing some files related to the engine This BSOD during regular use, Various Errors is fixable of course through re-installing or repairing them but the issue reappears after another BSOD Any help in resolving this issue would be greatly appreciated

Issues are still continuing.

Turns out that the issues with corrupt game files are separate to the BSOD issue.
The BSOD's seem to occur most often when either gaming, watching youtube, or both, with either program spontaneously failing 2-3 times in quick succession before the actual BSOD occurs.
Have attempted a GPU driver rollback, uninstall, and update to no avail.

Have this problem for a while now. It happens almost random, sometimes 1 time a day, or sometimes 7 times a evening. It doesnt mather if I'm watching video or surfing online, BSOD will happen sometime anyway. I hope you can help me solving this problem. I've build my own system so nothing came 'pre-installed'. Usual causes: Device driver, Malware

Your latest dump file blames nvlddmkm.sys which is your Graphics Driver.
Old and incompatible drivers can and do cause issues with Windows 7, often giving false error codes.

I suggest you "re-seat" your Graphics Driver.
Download and install Driver Sweeper.
Boot to Safe Mode
Uninstall current Graphics Drivers set up.
Run Driver Sweeper to clean up any left overs.
Reboot to Normal Mode.
Install your new Graphics Drivers.

Hi There

I have been experiencing random and varied BSODs on my system for some time now. Memory_Management and Page Fault In Non Paged Area are two that I see more often but the issue is certainly not limited to these two error codes.

System stability seems to vary; on some days performance will be rock solid, but on others I'll experience regular crashes. Lock ups often occur when playing video or audio, but they are also sometimes seemingly random; I've left my PC in a freshly booted up state and watched it BSOD while sitting idle.

Driver verifier hasn't thrown up any issues since updating a Marvell Controller driver, and the windows memory diagnostic tool also came back with no errors.

I have attached a diagnostic pack which is based on my latest crash.

Hope someone is able to help!

Most of the BSODs are caused by your Realtek NIC driver but there's also a couple which Avast is responsible for, so I would recommend replacing it with Microsoft Security Essentials.

Recently, I've been having a lot of problems on my laptop with BSOD's.

They would usually occur whilst I was playing a high intensity game, but after a friend got me to update my BIOS and all of my drivers, they seemed to stop occuring, and I thought I was in the clear.

(My friend is good with computers, I'm.... not. So I trusted his advise, maybe it wasn't a useful suggestion of his though? )

Anyway, Recently, when powering my computer up, after leaving it on sleep/hibernate, I got an instant BSOD..

The BCCODE was 9088, I believe.
But, Like an idiot, I've recently closed the window with the information about it... Sorry.

Anyway, Any help at all would be greatly appreciated, because it ceertainly isn't fun- Bluescreening.

Hello.

I have booted up into regular mode with my user account and as an Administrator. Desktop icons load slowly (placeholder icons load right away, but the specific icons for the items load 1 evrey 5 seconds). I get a message about Zone Alarm being expired (not part of theproblem, but letting you know it executes Zone Alarm just before the BSOD occurs).

Safe mode is fine (I have even tweaked the registry to have sound during safe mode). Safe mode sucks though.

I have attached the 3 BSODs. I haven't analyzed them myself yet.

Hello,

Over the past few weeks my computer has been BSODing loads, the latest reason was 'A driver has overrun a stack-based buffer', but it seems to vary each time.

Most of the time (may be all of the time, can't remember) I am streaming some sort of video from the web.

I have my suspicions it may be due to the monitor I use, which is a 4:3 19 incher, and used to BSOD my laptop after using it as an additional screen for lengths of time...

I'm not sure what more information you guys need, but any help is much appreciated! I have attached a few dump files which I see were requested in other threads.

I have taken a quick look at your dump files and it could be a myriad of different things that is causing your issues, from a faulty keyboard, dodgy memory, bad drivers or to corrupted boot files.

I must direct you to please read through the instructions in this post, blue-screen-of-death-bsod-posting-instructions-windows-8-windows-7-and-vista and make a post in the BSOD forum.

I would like to suggest some courses of action for you, but I will refrain and let the guys in the BSOD forum help you.

Nothing has changed hardware wise.

Only things new are Acronis True Image 2011 - which I have since removed.

Outlook and Thunderbird (I use both) crash at the same time when they have been running together.

I then get moments later BSOD.

Full malware/virus scan with Kaspersky 2011, Malware Bytes, Spybot and Combofix - completely clean!

Mini dumps debug info attached.

Am now trying running my system with half the 8GB RAM in to see if that makes a difference.

Any help would be appreciated if they can make sense from these Debug reports.

Hello, This is my first time on sevenfourums.

Ima just jump right in to it.

A recent build for a friend doenst seems to be turning out quite right. I've tried re-installing windows, CHKDSK, disk cleanup.

I have tried re-installing video/graphic cards drivers-Has dual graphics cards been know to cause BSOD?

I believe it could be a hardware defect with the RAM. I did rum Memtest 86 and received an error once, and never appeared to show again so I just ignored it, It might be coming to bite me now

I would like a second opinion on the situation please and thank you in advance.

Six different apparent causes in 15 crashes. From video to hardware, to memory. My gut feeling is it is a memory issue caused by your Avast. It was pointed to in at least 3 crashes, and the memory in 5.

I would remove and replace it with MSE at least to test. If you continue to crash we can start investigating the memory exception

Avast can be a contributing cause of BSOD'S . Please remove and replace with Microsoft Security Essentials AT LEAST TO TEST

Hello madmangosteen and welcome to TSF!

Most of the dumps attached are D1: DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL bugchecks all pointing to NETIO.sys. I've noticed in earlier dumps they're verifier enabled and pointing to tcpipreg.sys. There's an extreme consistency here, even though both of those drivers are system drivers and not 3rd party, with the sheer amount of NETIO culprits and the consistency of them, I believe we have a network driver issue here... or possibly something else faulting NETIO like an anti virus.

McAfee has been known specifically to cause this issue among others. Uninstall McAfee using the following tool, do NOT uninstall it through control panel:

After removing McAfee I would recommend installing Microsoft Security Essentials temporarily (keep if you like, of course) for troubleshooting purposes.

Update your network drivers. The most important are the ones you use, either Wifi (wireless) or NIC (wired).

I experience a very frequent BSODs. I've searched the inet for the symptom, everyone blames Alcohool 120%. I've never had it.

Hi all - whenever I shut down my Alienware M14X, all seems fine. However, when I turn it on again the next time, I get an "IRQ is less than or equal to" error. The laptop crashes, restarts, and works again, until I shut it down and start it up - and it all happens again.

Hi - We are finding multiple machines (setup identically) with BSOD appearing at different sites, whilst running out own application, need some help with interpreting the dump files which are attached, if anyone can point us in the right direction?

Tried using different brand machines but same error occurs, though this is limited to W7, XP did not suffer this issue.

Hi I have been having lots of BSOD's lately sometimes - a day sometimes every - days or so I don't use the computer that much so it's BSOD's idea no why my on system, Regular hard to say how regular they happen I tried looking at the minidumps myself but i dont know what to look for it seems it's all internal windows processes messing up without drivers or so being at fault not sure about this though i am a newbie when it comes to this I can say I checked my RAM earlier and one dimm was faulty so i removed it from the computer somewhere in december It's supposed to come back tomorrow all crashes in late Regular BSOD's on my system, no idea why dec and january have been with the good dimm I tested the good dimm for about hours in memtest usb-boot without problems so i assume its good I had one bluescreen jan minidump file i think due to disconnecting a USB device while my computer just detected it I don't think this is related to the other ones Windows is - x ultimate see profile - the original installed OS on this system - It's a full retail version bought in China though - The hardware is about - months old have always had this problem i think didn't use computer much - All hardware and specs see profile - I have not tried to reinstall windows Updated all drivers BIOS and stuff I thought that could help Running everything at stock speed no overclocking Have attached all files as stated in the sticky topic Hope someone can help because i feel i tried many things but nothing seems to help Thanks in advance Kaolla

A:Regular BSOD's on my system, no idea why

Hi Kaolia and welcome to the forum. I looked at your four most recent dumps. They all blame Windows system drivers, which are highly unlikely to be the real cause, and all four indicate memory corruption. Three of them blame Direct X. This si usually a sign that something is causing conflicts.

I see that you have ASRock OC Tuner installed. If you are overclocking anything - CPU, RAM- video - please return to default values while you are troubleshooting.

I recommend that you uninstall any CD virtualization programs such as Daemon Tools and Alcohol 120%. They use a driver, found in your dmp, sptd.sys, that is notorious for causing BSODs. Use this SPTD uninstaller when you're done: DuplexSecure - Downloads. Select uninstall; do NOT select reinstall.

Here is a free alternative CD virtualization program that does not use the sptd.sys driver.

Out of date drivers can cause conflicts, memory corruption and BSOD's. I find the following outdated drivers loaded on your system. One is quite obsolete. Update these drivers through the links provided.

Hello all
Hoping someone can help shed some light on the problems I'm having.
Recently up(down)graded to W10 and ever since I've had no end of instability issues resulting in BSOD's.
So far I've updated all my drivers which stopped the BSOD's for a few days but now they're reoccurring.
I can't identify a specific causation for them, of late they can occur just after startup, or within minutes/hours.

Look forward to any advice I can get.

This is my first time posting in the forum so if I need to add any additional info please tell me I am following the instructions of BSOD posting provided I am receiving BSOD regularly during use and sometimes when I open my computer after putting it to sleep I had so much trouble that I just did a factory reset and did not even restore my backed up info I use regular reset during factory after BSOD just installed bitdefender chrome and winamp I still had BSOD problems so I uninstalled BD and installed MSE and malwarebytes as were some of the general suggestions on other sites Still had BSOD problems Thought it was winamp because it would blue screen shortly after opening winamp and was very noticeable since the music would freeze in the middle of playing a song and loop the music where it stopped uninstalled it and used Windows Media player After doing yesterday I did not BSOD last night but I did BSOD during regular use after factory reset BSOD today so I don't know what the problem is anymore Attached are SF Diagnostic Tool log and a picture of the latest BSOD I BSOD during regular use after factory reset encountered if it helps which BSOD during regular use after factory reset is generally the same as the other BSOD I have been encountering in terms of stop code and the fact that quot physical memory dump FAILED quot

Blue screened again, this time with a stop error code I do not think has appeared before. Now shows 0x000000F4. Ran the SF_Diagnostic_Tool again and let it save in the same folder with (2) designating the new files. If this is a hardware issue, if you could get back to me ASAP that would be great; I bought my computer July 2, 2012 so I still have the 1 year limited warrenty from Sony to replace hardware problems.

Also, when i run SF_Diagnostic_Tool it tells me unable to find dump file, if that makes a difference. However, I followed the posting instructions and set everything to how the screenshots showed.

I understand that you're having problems getting into normal mode - so try these steps in Safe Mode w/Networking.  Some may not work (such as uninstalling stuff) - so just let us know if that's the case.  Also, please understand that reports that are generated in Safe Mode may not show the problem (since the system boots without the BSOD).  The memory dumps will most likely be the key here - but we'll have to see what comes of them. You're having problems with the BlueStacks Android service.  Please uninstall it while we're troubleshooting.A lot of the VMWare services are disabled.  Did you do this?  If so, why? BIOS dates from 2014, please see if there's an update available at the manufacturer's website.Also, make sure that you have ALL available Windows Updates There are enough signs here that I have to wonder about this installation. Should this be a pirated copy of Windows, please be aware that we may not be able to fix it (as the hacks that were done to activate it will cause the OS to behave differently than we expect it to). If that's the case, our efforts to help may just waste your time. Hello,

I have been getting BSOD's for about three months spaced a couple of weeks apart, about 6 weeks ago I got two on consecutive days, so had PC apart, reseated cables,and changed my RAM.

It's been OK for about 6 weeks then yesterday I suffered another BSOD, removed all USB entries in device manager, then today I have been using PC since 10am until about 6pm, no problems, I left it during the evening with about three browser windows open, went to close the windows abd shut the PC down, and as soon as I moved my mouse to close a browser window I had another BSOD (cant remember if I got as far as clicking the red X?).

I have uploaded my debug file, I do hope someone can help me?

Hello,

I have been getting regular BSOD when I am playing Games. In most cases it happens when I play Battlefield 3, Guild Wars 2 Beta and Warhammer: Space Marine.

I tried updating every Driver on my System but that didn't fix anything.

I also ran several Virus Scan with no result.

I bought this PC in March 2011, invested alot of money and now I am at the end of my abilities t to solve the problem on my own.

Help would be greatly appreciated.

I've taken a look at your dumps, and there are many different errors which lead me to believe this is hardware rather than software related.

First thing I recommend doing is installing & running Memtest so we can get RAM / memory controller out of the way.

- Select "Finish" on the next page.

Reboot the system and wait for it to crash to the Blue Screen. Continue to use your system normally, and if you know what causes the crash, do that repeatedly. The objective here is to get the system to crash because Driver Verifier is stressing the drivers out. If it doesn't crash for you, then let it run for at least 36 hours of continuous operation (an estimate on my part).

If you can't get into Windows because it crashes too soon, try it in Safe Mode.
If you can't get into Safe Mode, try using System Restore from your installation DVD to set the system back to the previous restore point that you created.

My computer reformatted itself about a month or so ago and I had to reinstall windows a couple of times. I initially installed a cracked version of windows but moved to a legitimate copy as soon as I figured out that I could. Considering my laptop is custom, all of the drivers had to me installed individually. However, when I found my reinstallation and driver discs that came with my computer, I reinstalled everything a third time. All three times, there have been BSODs.

If that is your problem then all the other dump files are not valid, most likely. If memory is the problem, almost anything and everything will be blamed, even though they are not at fault.

Extract the Zip file. If you chose the ISO image, burn it to a CD using Windows Disk Image Burner or any Image burner you may have. If you downloaded the Auto USB installer, extract it, insert your USB 2.0 Flash Drive and take note of the drive letter. Run the installer, select the Flash Drive Letter, check the format box and press next. It will install memtest86+ to a flash drive. You can use either V4.20 or V5.01. Boot from your selected media. If you use V5.01 it will tell you to press certain buttons at the start, please press no buttons. The test will begin on it's own and continue to run until you stop it. It needs to run for 8 complete passes or until you receive an error. If you receive an error, stop the test. Even 1 error is a fail. Each pass tests a different part of the ram and each of the 10 tests in each pass tests something different. It takes a minimum of 8 passes to completely test the ram, more passes are better. It is quite a long test and will take several hours depending on how much ram you have. Due to the time length it is best to run overnight. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask..

Hello,

I originally thought I had fixed my crashing problems with some new bios updates but apparently that hasn't eliminated it at all.

Lately it's been crashing a bit more. I tried doing a Disk Cleanup as well as an error check. That didn't seem to remedy anything. I've attached a zip folder with all the recent crash results and such.

I've run Memtest86+ before but had gotten 8 passes. This was with all 4x8gb memory sticks still installed. I have not tried to run the test with individual sticks.

Please help if possible. Any tips/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Also, (after applying the card in another port) stress test the Graphics Card using Furmark. Video Card - Stress Test with Furmark
Take a screenshot of the furmark window before closing it. Upload the screenshot for us. And ley us know if you experience any artifacts or crashes during the test.

For the past few days, I have encountered a lot of BSODs on my computer with windows 7 64x whereas they didn't occur at all in the past. The computer also tends to freeze at some point.

The dump you've attached unfortunately provides an inconclusive analysis probable fault. At this point, I would recommend enabling Driver Verifier. Driver Verifier will force a BSOD once it finds the faulting driver (if this is software / driver related). If Driver Verifier doesn't show anything, we'll move onto further testing.

Hello guys, I'm new here. I've been having a lot of problems with my PC. It either freezes or crash from a BSOD. This is from regular browsing and gaming. (I know my PC is super low end so I only play old games or Flash games).

I've followed the instructions on how to post a BSOD report.

These seem to be all D1 crashes, but with different call stacks. First thing first, update all drivers (if you haven't already) and then see if the issue occurs. It would also help to have a complete (not mini) memory dump created the next time the issue occurs, as there's user-mode code on these callstacks that can't be seen in this dump type:

Hello, I have installed Windows 7 Home premium x64 on a system I built myself, and keep getting regular bluescreens. When I looked at the dumps with Bluescreenview, it always has ntoskrnl.exe highlighted in red. Help please?

This started happening after I did the windows updates I think. Not 100% sure on that but it might be a reason...maybe you guys can help clarify.

I bought a new SSD and installed Win7. Installed the latest gpu drivers. Newer drivers came out so I even went as far as using the DDU application to do a super clean install.

I've had my EVGA GTX 970 FTW Edition RMA'd once already. I feel like I'm running out of options at this point. Same error over and over.

Just noticed a new bios is available so I will do that after this post.

We do need the actual DMP file as it contains the only record of the sequence of events leading up to the crash, what drivers were loaded, and what was responsible.

It is almost impossible to spot trends from a single DMP file so if you have m ore than one please upload them. If you only have one please wait until the computer crashes again then upload both.

You may be able to get the DMP files without crashing by booting into safe mode (F8) with networking.

To enable us to assist you with your computer's BSOD symptoms, upload the contents of your "\Windows\Minidump" folder.

The procedure:

* Copy the contents of \Windows\Minidump to another (temporary) location somewhere on your machine.
* Zip up the copy.
* Attach the ZIP archive to your post using the "paperclip" (file attachments) button.
*If the files are too large please upload them to a file sharing service like "Rapidshare" and put a link to them in your reply.
To ensure minidumps are enabled:

* Go to Start, in the Search Box type: sysdm.cpl, press Enter.
* Under the Advanced tab, click on the Startup and Recovery Settings... button.
* Ensure that Automatically restart is unchecked.
* Under the Write Debugging Information header select Small memory dump (256 kB) in the dropdown box (the 256kb varies).
* Ensure that the Small Dump Directory is listed as %systemroot%\Minidump.
* OK your way out.
* Reboot if changes have been made.

Not sure where to begin, recently I have been experiencing Blue Screens and the cause appeared to be ntoskrnl.exe giving the error. I have tried updating all the drivers and even checking RAM but so far nothing seems to help, I removed a few dud drivers (AsUpIo.sys and AsIO.sys) which seemed to help but now it's still doing it.

I also tried several Nvidia drivers which seemed to help at first but now it seems to happen more frequently.

Really not sure what's causing the error now, short of reinstalling Windows 10 (which I'd want to avoid if possible) there isn't much else I can do

We can see that mrxsmb.sys (SMB network file driver) was constantly making calls to proxyclientwebfilter.sys, which is I believe a driver in relation to the Blue Coat ProxyClient software.
It kept making calls like that constantly until it hit a bugcheck. This can be caused by a few things, so here's what I am going to recommend:
1. Remove Norton and replace it with Microsoft Security Essentials for temporary troubleshooting purposes:

2. If that doesn't stop the issue, remove the Blue Coat ProxyClient software.

Would anyone be able to shed some light on this bug check error. Nearly once per day I get a bug check error and the system then BSODs.

You might see from the log back on the 19th the system would BSOD every hour. This was a permissions issue that I was able to resolve. I have been slowly working through the event viewer and down we get no errors warnings or critical's, just this bug check.

Windows 7 Professional x64 bit
Installed via upgrade of a Windows 7 install, full retail version.
System less than 2 months old as is the OS install.

Getting blue screen an increasing amount at the moment, noted that ndis.sys was mentioned on the BSOD. No real pattern to when it happens, has happened once on reboot from standby but also whilst in normal operation.

I have encountered regular blue screen of death when I'm playing. Sometimes the BSOD appeared just after the reboot of my pc too. I have tried to repair the game, de-install and re-install it, update all my drivers, update the motherboard's drivers, but nothing worked. I really don't know what to do anymore. Hi guys,

i've been holding off posting here for a few days in the vane hope that I could resolve the issues i've been experiencing myself.

I've been having regular blue screens in Vista x86 SP1, either while booting or while using the system with moderate intensity. Certain tasks which seem to trigger the BSOD include burning a DVD or opening an application.

I've got Speedfan running most of the time but that hasn't really helped much as it appears to be running within normal guidelines.

I've also tried updating my SATA drivers to the latest ones from Asus (dated 2007) for my board which Vista suggested may be the culprit.

I've attached my minidumps in case anyone is able to help me out and point me in the right direction to get this fixed. All help is much appreciated!

I am having an issue where when I first boot up Windows I get a BSOD After a few reboots sometimes - I can finally use during and BSOD on bootup system regular occasionally use my computer without it freezing up As long as I don't restart my laptop and just put it in sleep mode when I am done I can usually use it for a few days before it BSOD on system bootup and occasionally during regular use locks up and I get the BSOD again I have reinstalled various drivers including video LAN WiFi with no success in resolving this issue I also put an SSD in the laptop and tried starting out with a fresh copy of Windows a couple of times each time having an issue where after a few reboots Windows would completely freeze up and stop responding every time upon startup No error message or error screen would show up No error message or error screen would show up I gave up and put my old mechanical drive back in and decided to deal with a semi functional laptop rather than a useless one Thanks for your time

Hi there, since building my new system last week, I have been getting at least one BSOD a day, although it is sometimes as frequent as one or two an hour. This is my first time building a system, so I'm fully aware that I might have missed something obvious and trivial.

I currently have Windows 7 Professional x64 installed (retail version) and I installed it last week. System has been running ok apart from the seemingly random BSOD.

I have attached the dump files & performance monitor html as instructed and I would greatly appreciate it if anyone could help identify what the problem may be, as I really don't have much knowledge of what to look for.

A:Getting regular BSOD crashes, can't see a common/obvious cause.

So, it appears that I have jinxed myself after posting on here. Have had several BSOD in the past couple of hours, once resulting in being unable to boot into Windows at all. So I did a system restore, but lost some of the previous dump files by doing so.

I have added an updated attachment to this post, any help would be great! Starting to get a little frustrating. I've also added my PC spec to my profile, if this will help in any way.

I upgraded my computer to play Diablo 3 and after installing windows 7, I get constant BSOD. It comes up as BCcode 124 which I understand to be a hardware issue, but I don't know how to fix it.

My Specs:

-Windows 7 Home Premium 32-Bit (Full retail) Bought it on the online store.
- AMD Phenom 9600 Quad core processor 2.3 Ghz
-PNY GeForce GTX 220Ti - Video Card (Upgraded my Power supply to a TR2 430w)
- This computer is close to 5 years old.

Stop 0x124 is a hardware error

If you are overclocking try resetting your processor to standard settings and see if that helps.

If you continue to get BSOD here are some more things you may want to consider.

This is usually heat related, defective hardware, memory or even processor though it is"possible" that it is driver related (rare).

A "stop 0x124" is fundamentally different to many other types of bluescreens because it stems from a hardware complaint.

Stop 0x124 minidumps contain very little practical information, and it is therefore necessary to approach the problem as a case of hardware in an unknown state of distress.

1) Ensure that none of the hardware components are overclocked. Hardware that is driven beyond its design specifications - by overclocking - can malfunction in unpredictable ways.

4) Update the motherboard BIOS according to the manufacturer's instructions.

5) Rarely, bugs in the OS may cause "false positive" 0x124 events where the hardware wasn't complaining but Windows thought otherwise (because of the bug).
At the time of writing, Windows 7 is not known to suffer from any such defects, but it is nevertheless important to always keep Windows itself updated.

6) Attempt to (stress) test those hardware components which can be put through their paces artificially.
The most obvious examples are the RAM and HDD(s).
For the RAM, use the in-built memory diagnostics (run MDSCHED) or the 3rd-party memtest86 utility to run many hours worth of testing.
For hard drives, check whether CHKDSK /R finds any problems on the drive(s), notably "bad sectors".
Unreliable RAM, in particular, is deadly as far as software is concerned, and anything other than a 100% clear memory test result is cause for concern. Unfortunately, even a 100% clear result from the diagnostics utilities does not guarantee that the RAM is free from defects - only that none were encountered during the test passes.

7) As the last of the non-invasive troubleshooting steps, perform a "vanilla" reinstallation of Windows: just the OS itself without any additional applications, games, utilities, updates, or new drivers - NOTHING AT ALL that is not sourced from the Windows 7 disc.
Should that fail to mitigate the 0x124 problem, jump to the next steps.
If you run the "vanilla" installation long enough to convince yourself that not a single 0x124 crash has occurred, start installing updates and applications slowly, always pausing between successive additions long enough to get a feel for whether the machine is still free from 0x124 crashes.
Should the crashing resume, obviously the very last software addition(s) may be somehow linked to the root cause.
If stop 0x124 errors persist despite the steps above, and the harware is under warranty, consider returning it and requesting a replacement which does not suffer periodic MCE events.
Be aware that attempting the subsequent harware troubleshooting steps may, in some cases, void your warranty:

Hello and welcome to TSF.

Bugchecks vary, but there is noticably a 0x24 - indicative of file system corruption or hard drive failure, which would also explain the reason for the variety of bugchecks. Open an elevated command prompt (Start>type cmd>Run as administrator) and enter the command chkdsk /r. The scan can take quite some time, but it won't be long at all if run on the SSD. It should, however, be run on all partitions. To run it on separate partitions, enter the command chkdsk X: /r, where X: is your drive letter.

Check all of the drives and let us know how it works out. Good luck to you.

Following multiple BSOD issues on the Dell machine, I reinstalled Windows 7 Ultimate thinking it may fix the issue, but it came back immediately. Have only one dump log (attached).

I've swapped the power supply to a better 650w that I had laying around, but that didn't help either.

I have a been experiencing regular crashes about every hour to BSOD, with the error "STOP: 0x000000F4" The computer does not restart after the BSOD, but goes to a black page that says "Reboot and Select proper Boot device or insert Boot Media in selected Boot device and press a key". When I press a key, the message is just displayed again. So I have to do a hard shutdown every time this happens. I have looked for the crash dump files, but all I can find is a very old memory.dmp file. So I do not think my computer is making the crash dump. I have tried following the instructions here: Dump Files - Configure Windows to Create on BSOD, but no luck. I would appreciate any advice for how to diagnose and solve the problem. Attached is the output from the DM Log Collector.

Hello everybody,
I have freshly installed Windows 10 Home 64 on Samsung 850 EVO 500 Gb SSD. From the install time I getting regular BSOD's, but only in one typical scenario: after 4th or 5th time when pc resumed from sleep, other ways the pc runs perfectly.
Getting desperate with this problem. I update any possible drivers with update reviver program, but pc behavior is still the same. It goes to sleep without problem and usually crashes only after 4th to 5th time when resuming. The motherboard bios is latest official version (not beta). Windows updates are on.
Any help will be appreciated.

My system keep rebooting and giving me BSod for almost a year now what I thought at first was windows 7 problem actually turns out to be either my mobo or the ram. I have run many tests and even revert back to Xp but it is still the same and it happens really randomly. Usually I get the IRQL_NOT_LESS_THAN_OR_EQUAL and sometimes I get a PFN_LIST_CORRUPT BSOD error message, it happens when doing just about anything from playing a simple game to browsing the internet to just browsing through folders.

-Windows 7 x64 Professional
-It is the original OS on the system
-Full Retail Version from MSDNAA
-System hardware is brand new
-OS is brand new and yes have tried re-installing it

These crashes were caused by memory corruption (probably a driver). Please run these two tests to verify your memory and find which driver is causing the problem.

If you are overclocking anything reset to default before running these tests.
In other words STOP!!!
1-Memtest.

If it doesn't crash for you, then let it run for at least 36 hours of continuous operation (an estimate on my part).

If you can't get into Windows because it crashes too soon, try it in Safe Mode.
If you can't get into Safe Mode, try using System Restore from your installation DVD to set the system back to the previous restore point that you created.

So it's a brand new rig running Windows 7 64-bit, I've had it for about 10 days now.
Started experiencing BSODs from day one. It happens when playing games mostly, but sometimes it crashes w/o any applications running.

I've tried reinstalling Windows a few times, running memory tests (everything seems to be ok) and switching the system SSD (OCZ Vertex 3) to another controller. Nothing helps so far, it still crashes 2-3 times a day.

My ability to research the reason for this behavior is quite limited, so maybe a more competent person than me could look into logs and suggest what to blame? Thanks in advance.

Hi

My stepdaughter's laptop goes through phases of the Blue Screen of Death.

The wi-fi USB dongle is a little loose in the port and I wondered if it was that.

I therefore tried using the laptop with an ethernet cable in and same BSOD after random amount of time.

The last time I rebooted after BSOD MS said it had detected a hardware problem with memory and offered to let me download / run Memory Diagnostic Tool.

After reading similar posts I have included the minidump files and hope some wise elder in here may be able to interpret the omens therein.

Alright so this has been a truly exhausting and daunting task trying Minidump regular not on (1hr), producing inteveral BSOD to resolve my BSOD issue So I will start from the BSOD on regular inteveral (1hr), not producing Minidump top My computer started randomly BSODing earlier this week giving me the error quot A process or thread crucial to system operation has unexpectedly exited or been terminated quot with STOP xF and first parameter x The subsequent reboot of the system then gave me a black screen that said Windows Failed to Start I simply had to power it off and back on to get it working again The first thing I did was run windows BSOD on regular inteveral (1hr), not producing Minidump repair off of my CD It said it found the error quot Boot manager failed to find OS loader quot and fixed it I got more BSODs and the black screen would still come after the restart and tell BSOD on regular inteveral (1hr), not producing Minidump me that Windows failed to start but this time it gave me a File quot windows system winload exe quot and told me that that file was either missing or corrupt It also said the Status quot xc e quot So I tried to rebuild my BCD by using the command prompt in windows repair I ran the following commands Bootrec fixmbr Bootrec Fixboot Bootrec RebuildBcd And Bootrec RebuildBcd told me that it found windows installations This was a major red flag I got the same BSOD and subsequent Windows fail to start message with the same File and Status so I then tried to export and delete the BCD and then rebuild it by using the following commands bcdedit export C BCD Backup c cd boot attrib bcd -s -h -r ren c boot bcd bcd old Bootrec RebuildBcd This time it said it had found windows installation and and that it successfully executed It then prompted me with a question that I wasn't sure of I can't remember exactly what it sad but it was a question about adding something to something and the options were Yes No or All I chose Yes Then I restarted I got yet another BSOD but this time there was no File specified but the Status remained the same xc e So I went back into startup repair and I was about to repeat the same process I executed bcdedit export C BCD Backup c cd boot attrib bcd -s -h -r ren c boot bcd bcd old But when I got to the 'ren' instruction it told me quot A duplicate file name exists or the file could not be found quot So I figured I accidentally created a duplicate copy of my exported bcd backup I tried running Bootrec RebuildBcd and once again it told me I had windows installations So to this day I haven't been able to work around that I instead tried other approaches I gave a quick check to my Boot tab of MSConfig and it does in fact list Windows on my C drive as my OS I read that x is almost certainly an indicator of hardware failure so I did some further investigation into my hardware I ran memtest overnight and it had passes with errors I tried to run SeaTools DOS but it also couldn't recognize any drives I then ran a chkdsk on all of my drives even though of them are partitions of my GB HDD All drives came back fine Then I started getting KERNAL DATA INPAGE ERRORs with STOP xF and again with first parameter x The subsequent restart again informed me that my Windows had failed to start I checked my Event Viewer and it showed some errors with nvidia-related files I noticed I no longer had my nvidia icon on my taskbar and that if I accessed my Nvidia Control Panel and tried to run an update it would crash So I completely uninstalled my Nvidia drivers and software and reinstalled all of them That particular event got fixed Then I got another KERNAL DATA INPAGE ERROR and checked my Event Viewer to find out that there was an issue regarding my Intel Smart Connect Technology I read that this can actually be a root cause of these BSODs and that I should update the driver for it So I uninstalled my old ISCT driver and installed a newer one It was a significant update from version of the software to versi... Go to Control Panel -> System -> Advanced System Settings -> Startup and Recovery [Settings] Make sure that "Write Debugging Information" is set to Small Memory Dump (256kb) if it is not already.Dump Files - Configure Windows to Create on BSOD
Next, make sure that the folder C:\Windows\Minidump exists. If not, create it (allow permission if asked). Make sure any dumps you want to analyze, whether yours or others', are in this folder. You can ZIP/RAR the files and send them to someone else to analyze as well.

Is the firmware for your SSD(s) up-to-date?

Check for one and see if the stability returns.

First of all, thank you for any eventual help.

This machine is used 15h per day (office work, graphics, video editing, gaming). BSOD crashes occur either while idle, using simple editors or browsing.
- No additional hardware was added recently that might indicate BSODs.
- OS is up to date
- drivers are up to date
