I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi,
Unfortunately the installation is counterfeit.
The Key is that of a Dell OEM computer - and the motherboard is a retail one by Asus.

The best course of action is to:Purchase a legitimate Windows 7 licence.
Format the HDD.
Reinstall Windows and activate.

Hi and welcome to SF ladymflowers .

The BSOD's you are experiencing, BCC 0x124, are of the most generic type which offer little information
as what is actually causing them.

Quote:

All eleven dump files are pointing to the same core, bank and L1 cache data read error
so it seems as if we are dealing with a faulty CPU but I don't have the full picture as of yet
and thermals and RAM may be the factor in this case.

Test for thermals and stability:
Download HWinfo and post a Screenshot of the 'sensors only' window, one at idle and another while putting load on the PC using Prime95 for the CPU.Before running Prime95 make sure to enable Round-off checking (see 1st post under the tutorial).
Reset the BIOS back to default:CLR CMOS

   Note
Write down the current value of the SATA Mode!
Its either AHCI or IDE.
After resetting the CMOS go back and verify the value for SATA Mode is what it was
when the OS was installed.

Seeing you have two RAM sticks, please remove one and assess the situation.
Then do the same with the latter.

Hey there! That's an awesome PC you've got there. Anyways lets get to troubleshooting. Also never use BlueScreenView, it's always inaccurate.
Code:

DEBUG_FLR_IMAGE_TIMESTAMP: 0

Hmm, run IntelBurnTest. If the temps go to far then shut IntelBurnTest down. This might be two things, the CPU is failing or the cooler is bad.

So I recently built a friend a new computer and he has been receiving a ton of bsods I have re installed video drivers, updated windows 7. Did countless hardware test(Video ram, check memory, Cpu test) temperatures stay around 25-35 c.
Recently uninstalled all video drivers and re installed and the bsods went away for a week or so he recently got a bsod. Is this hardware or software how do I fix these errors?

Relevancy 101.91%

When I use my computer normally (as in, just browsing the internet), my computer will often lock up, then restart. I did not think it was a BSOD at first, but occasionally I would actually get the bluescreen, and crash dump files were created.

A strange thing about this BSOD is that I never get it while playing games. The sole exception is the game Path of Exile, but since no dump file is created after a Path of Exile crash, it is probably a separate problem. This problem only occurs while I am doing something mundane that does not use my processor power/memory, apparently.

Here's my Diagnostic .zip. Hopefully one of you guys can enlighten me on what the problem is.

A:BSOD Windows x64, error 0x00000124 hal.dll+12a3b ntoskrnl.exe+748c0

Basically a 0x00000124 is a hardware issue; but it may be caused by anything and everything associated with the computer.

The crash dumps provide very less information in the 0x00000124 dumps. And there is only one crash dump which is unfortunately having symbol error and so I failed to read it properly.

Anyway, a single BSOD may always be treated as a glitch. If the issue continues, let us see the further dumps ... if they provide any little more info there.

There seems to be a problem with writing data to the cache, I would suggest running this test:Hardware - Stress Test With Prime95

I bought my computer last year Custom build Everything was working fine until January th this year I experienced my first BSOD on this machine I've tried rolling back graphics drivers which were the only ones BSOD Sparse Win7-64bit (hal.dll+12a3b, 0x00000124 ntoskrnl.exe+75bc0) I had installed recently and it didn't help because days later the same BSOD happened The next BSOD didn't happen for another month And recently this is my th one that I am attaching in the log compilation The other dmp's were Sparse BSOD 0x00000124 (hal.dll+12a3b, ntoskrnl.exe+75bc0) Win7-64bit erased by me Sparse BSOD 0x00000124 (hal.dll+12a3b, ntoskrnl.exe+75bc0) Win7-64bit by accident but they all said the same thing when I opened them in BlueScreenView I will try reseating hardware and more stress tests when I have time but I'm really lost here as its such a sparse occurrence that it makes it really hard for me to test in a reasonable amount of time I'm hoping someone here can see what my inexperienced eyes are missing Here's what I do know - I didn't install any drivers for a while month or so other than the nvidia driver which I rolled back - I am not overclocking and just running stock and default BIOS Though since my rd BSOD I have turned on XMP for my RAM didn't make anything worse I guess - The BSOD happens very randomly Twice while I was playing fairly low resource demanding games Once while I was just on desktop dragging organizing files And most recently Sparse BSOD 0x00000124 (hal.dll+12a3b, ntoskrnl.exe+75bc0) Win7-64bit while browsing Twitch tv on Chrome There seems to be nothing in common which is really frustrating - It doesn't seem to be related to how long my computer has been running The most recent happened minutes after turning my computer on - I have a minor suspicion it could be my sound because it's always given me issues distorting not being detected randomly at startup But it is onboard and I have no idea how to begin testing it I will post updates as I perform further tests will be running memtest thru the night last time only ran for hours Please let me know any good suggestions Thanks a lot

I apologize ahead of time for losing the other 3 memory dumps, though they all appeared the same I'm sure there was useful information in there. I deleted them by accident via diskcleanup utility. I will post memory dmps as they happen in this thread, but for now if anyone sees a potential problem or has any advice to test please let me know.

Hello,

I keep getting BSOD when I start downloading any torrent, I have tried utorrent and bittorrent clients.
It started to happen recently after I found my bro had downloaded some keygens. Antivirus and AntiMalware programs picked nothing.

BSOD error message:
driver_irql_not_less_or_equal netio.sys

A:Help - BSOD when downloading torrents

Only 82 Windows Updates installed. Most systems have 100 - 150 or more. Please visit Windows Update and get ALL available updates (it may take several trips to get them all).

Uninstall HotSpot Shield - it is known to have BSOD issues with Windows.

Many more Live Kernel Events than Bugcheck Events. This may be a symptom of hardware/low-level issues.
Please do the following:
- open Event Viewer (run eventvwr.msc from the "Run" dialog))
- expand the Custom Views category (left click on the > next to the words "Custom Views")
- right click on Administrative Events
- select "Save all Events in Custom View as..."
- save the file as Admin.evtx
- zip up the file (right click on it, select "Send to", select "Compressed (zipped) folder")
- upload it with your next post (if it's too big, then upload it to a free file-hosting service and post a link here).

Please update these older drivers. Links are included to assist in looking up the source of the drivers. If unable to find an update, please remove (un-install) the program responsible for that driver. DO NOT manually delete/rename the driver as it may make the system unbootable! :

Hi,I've noticed that I will get BSOD - PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA (related to ntoskrnl.exe nothing very specific) while downloading torrent (randomly) - I've tried many torrent programs - same result. I am 100% sure that It happens on while downloading torrents (e.g. normal downloads in chrome works fine). I've found similiar problems like here http://forum.utorrent.com/topic/45887-transmission-utorrent-bsod/ and after research It looks like wireless driver problem. I've uninstalled previous driver from Device Manager, downloaded and installed Broadcom driver for win 10 64bit. It's been automatically updated to v7.35.295.2 (20.7.2015). Any ideas?btw: I've also checked ram with memtest - no problems

I need you to zip and attach the C:\Windows\Minidump\070411-17456-01.dmp file mentioned in the above report.

It contains a driver dump and the actual interrupt halt. It's the best way to troubleshoot a bsod over the net like this.

If you like you can also attach the additional items requested here.

A:BSOD After Downloading Torrents.

IMAGE_NAME: bdfndisf.sys This is a Bit Defender Firewall driver, seems to be the problem.Worth reading, IMO: http://forum.bitdefender.com/index.php?sho...amp;#entry64407Not the same conclusion I would draw, but close. I would have suggested that the Bit Defender package is corrupt/damaged and suggested uninstalling it, then reinstalling (or using a different product).Let's assume that the other person is correct . Do not upgrade. If the suggested fix doesn't work, then I say uninstall Bit Defender and use free AV and firewall products (for that matter, the XP firewall is sufficient). Those of us who use 3d-party firewalls tend to do so because we like some feature/additional info, etc. that will not be provided by the XP firewall.Louis

A:BSOD: Related to Downloading Torrents

Well; at this point i can safely tell ya that you should avoid downloading things from torrents; as they can contain viruses, malware, adware, etc. and can harm your system. That could very well be the the reason you have gotten a bsod.

Hi There,
I have been having BSODs quite frequently in last weeks. Before it wasn't that frequent. Most of times as i noticed it happens whenever i launch torrent downloader. The day before yesterday, the computer actually won't start normally. Using blue screen viewer i figured out the issue was due to Avast and i am now able to run my computer normally after uninstalling the avast. However today again, the BSOD came back after i tried to launch the torrent downloader. I am attaching my dump file as the forum has mentioned. Please reply me back at your conveniently earliest time.

Thanks a lot!

I have been experiencing some BSOD as I am downloading torrents on my laptop that is "running" as a media server for Plex. I tried analyzing the .dmp files, but I am not too knowledgeable, so I'm just going to upload them here, hopefully someone can help me figure it out. These are all .dmps from today and I feel like they're all related to the same issue. So hopefully someone can help me figure this out. Thanks in advance. =)

A:BSOD when downloading torrents, and running Plex

Apparently the BSOD is caused by Intel Wireless WiFi Link Driver.

For some weeks, I have been getting frequent BSODs, especially while I am downloading some torrent files.

I keep getting the error:

WORKER_THREAD_RETURNED_AT_BAD_IQRL
STOP: 0x000000E1

I was using utorrent. I installed the latest version, still I got the same blue screen and error so I then uninstalled it. Then I installed the Vuze. Again BSOD.

So I removed all torrent software. But I still got a BSOD, even though I was not downloading anything.

I was trying Tixati today to download something. Again I got BSOD while it was running. This time, it took a lot of time to reboot completely.

I am tired of these blue screens. Why all of a sudden? Please help!

Thank you.

A:BSOD, error 0x000000E1, mostly when downloading torrents

Welcome

Will take a look at your dumps soon.

Problematic software:

Code:
Start Menu\Programs\Comodo Public:Start Menu\Programs\Comodo Public
Start Menu\Programs\McAfee Public:Start Menu\Programs\McAfee Public
Uninstall Comodo and McAfee they are known to cause BSODs. I note that you have MSE installed and having 2 antivirus programs would create conflicts anyway.

McAfee Removal Tool - McAfee Uninstaller
COMODO uninstall tool
Recommended antivirus program for Windows 7 based on stability compared to others:-
Microsoft Security Essentials - Free Antivirus for Windows
Malwarebytes - The Free version
Good and Free system security combination.
Run a full scan with both (separately) once downloaded, installed and updated.

Run the System File Checker that scans the of all protected Windows 7 system files and replaces incorrect corrupted, changed/modified, or damaged versions with the correct versions if possible:
SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker
Run Disk Check on your hard disk for file system errors and bad sectors on it:
Disk Check
Keep us posted of further BSODs

A:BSOD 0x000000E1 - Alienware M17 R3 When downloading Torrents

You're having McAfee and MSE right? Running two antiviruses would cause conflict and my suggestion anyway would be to get rid of McAfee as it's known to cause BSoDs.

And how did you uninstall McAfee? Did you uninstall with it's removal tool? Made sure no leftovers?

You can also enable driver verifier, let's see if it points us to any particular driver.

I've had the title happening since last night, and I think its related to the replacement mini PCI-E wifi card I installed last night, but then again there was a dmp at 8 am yesterday also, but was still doing the same just normal browsing.

I think I was watching some videos and downloading at same time. the last few days I have had some pop ups from win 10 about having to restart due to drive errors or something like that, so downloaded the kingston ssd checker tool and looks ok.

The BSOD screen says 'page fault in non paged area" for all three times.

The wifi card is an AzureWave Broadcom BCM94352, which I had trouble finding drivers and had to use some from ASUS.

Well here's the gathered info.

Thanks

Yup, looks like the Broadcom Wireless driver is the culprit.

Try the Broadcom Wireless Windows 10 driver from Lenovo, see if that works for you.

If that doesn't help, see this thread for a similar/identical problem and solutions:

Hello,

So I built my own rig, thought it would be straightforward, I was wrong. System has been slowly becoming more stable as time progress. Flashed bios, updated drivers, etc etc. However, to get me into a truly stable situation, need some help from people that know what they are doing.

This issue always happens overnight when I leave the computer downloading torrents. Every so often it just happens randomly while I am using my computer, viewing a website, writing a doc, programming . Start-up is kinda slow for 8 core processor as well. I have done with mem and disk test with good results.

I also used DRP13 to make sure I had all the latest drivers. No overclocking. Talking too much as this zip prob tells you what you need.

Obviously any help would be great. Thanks.

A:BSOD ntoskrnl.exe (nt+0x5A440) - Overnight crashes durning torrents.

A lot of the bugchecks aren't giving very much useful information.
However one bugcheck has caught my eye, it may be a long shot but I've seen bugchecks being caused by viruses and because you're downloading torrents it wouldn't surprise me. (No offence).

Code:
This is the classic "buffer overrun"
hacking attack and the system has been brought down to prevent a malicious user
from gaining complete control of it.
A buffer overrun is basically when a driver writes into a non-paged pool address that is assigned for another driver which has caused pool corruption, this is mainly due to a device driver using more memory than what it is allocated. Another bugcheck that you have is actually caused by pool corruption.

I would highly recommend running your normal anti virus for threats.
I would then download and run malwarebytes. Make sure you untick the box that asks if you want to start a 60 day trial of malwarebytes pro.

https://www.malwarebytes.org/free/

I think you have Driver Verfier enabled as one of your bugchecks is caused by DV detecting a violation.
If you have turned it off can you please enable it again by following these instructions?

Driver Verifier - Enable and Disable

Edit: You seem to have an issue with your HDD. Can you please run a disk check to scan for errors on your HDD. Please follow these instructions

Disk Check

Can you then please run Seatools to scan for a failing HDD. Please follow these instructions.

Hello all,

I've been receiving BSOD when downloading torrents for about 6 months now. The problem has grown from once every now and then to happening as little as 10 seconds after starting the download. A few months ago I temporarily fixed the problem by swapping from Bittorrent to Utorrent however the problem has recently come back. I tried swapping software again however it hasn't fixed the problem.

Please review the attached minidump files (3x) from the most recent crashes. If you need more I have heaps or can easily generate a new one.

I've been experiencing BSOD shortly after upgrade to windows 8.1, roughly a couple of months ago. The frequency is increasing, several times a week is not uncommon. Usually BSOD happens whilst downloading or occasionally just browsing the web.

I'm extremely inexperienced, so please bear with me. Grateful for any help forum users might be able to provide. I've uploaded SFdebugfile for your consideration.

Thank you,

Jeff

A:BSOD often whilst downloading or browsing web

Hi DrXavier & Welcome to the forums ^_^,

I am sorry for the late response. There aren't just many people who do the Dump analysis
Unfortunately the SF Diagnostic File does not contain any Dump file to analyze. Could you please make sure that the generation of the Minidump files has been enabled by following this **guide**?

If the settings are correct, then please upload this file :- "C:\Windows\Memory.dmp" . It would be a big file so please ZIP it up before uploading. Upload it to any file sharing websites like MediaFire or One Drive and then post the link to it in your next post .

So i've been having this BSOD downloading while games/browsing issue for a couple of months now without any hope to resolve it BSOD while downloading games/browsing of the time it happens just like i've said while downloading games from steam or battle net launchers e g im downloadin GB game everything goes smooth and good till it reaches like then my internet drops and i either get TCPIP sys blue screen or Rt win sys blue screen Tcpip sys is the most common one like of the time i get that one i've read about rt and updated it from here Realtek but its the same Downloading everything cool later bsod Sometimes it just happens that my internet drops but i don't get bsod but i still need to restart PC cuz nothing loads If the file size is like mb or GB it seems like i can get away with it of the time i wont have any problems but if the file size goes over GB and it takes a bit longer to download something seems to go wrong and i get that annoying tcpip sys blue screen At first i thought maybe its because i've never updated my windows didnt really find a reason to i've got so desperate that yesterday i installed most important updates didn't help either I dont use any custom firewalls i dont use ANY anti-virus programs

A:BSOD while downloading games/browsing

Hi jjbarea.

Not using an antivirus is not a good idea. The possibility of threats are always there. Use Microsoft Security Essentials as your antivirus with windows inbuilt firewall, and free MBAM as the on demand scanner.

Download, install and update those, and then run full system scans with both of them, one by one. It is needed.

BTW, most of the BSODs are network related, whereas the network driver itself is up to date.

Code:

If it is neither a virus nor an antivirus, there is something playing in the background and and causing the issue. Now the question is what it may be.

As a test, disable spotify from startup. Edit > Preferences, then uncheck this item:

A few BSODs are pointing to th display driver. Better you follow this guide: NVIDIA Drivers - Avoid Problems

Hi,

I recently began having BSODs when browsing the Internet, especially when running speed tests. I've tried reinstalling Windows, have ran Memtest86+ overnight with no errors, tried wired and wireless connections, and reinstalled/updated drivers. I tried reinstalling Windows again this morning and just got another BSOD.

How To Find Drivers:

Quote:
- search Google for the name of the driver
- compare the Google results with what's installed on your system to figure out which device/program it belongs to
- visit the web site of the manufacturer of the hardware/program to get the latest drivers (DON'T use Windows Update or the Update driver function of Device Manager).
- if there are difficulties in locating them, post back with questions and someone will try and help you locate the appropriate program.

- - The most common drivers are listed on this page: Driver Reference Driver Reference
- - Driver manufacturer links are on this page: Drivers and Downloads

Also your ESET needs to be updated.
Since your ram appears to be ok,please run verifier to find which driver is causing the crashes.

Quote:
I'd suggest that you first backup your stuff and then make sure you've got access to another computer so you can contact us if problems arise. Then make a System Restore point (so you can restore the system using the Vista/Win7 Startup Repair feature).

In Windows 7 you can make a Startup Repair disk by going to Start....All Programs...Maintenance...Create a System Repair Disc - with Windows Vista you'll have to use your installation disk or the "Repair your computer" option at the top of the Safe Mode menu .

Then, here's the procedure:
- Go to Start and type in "verifier" (without the quotes) and press Enter
- Select "Create custom settings (for code developers)" and click "Next"
- Select "Select individual settings from a full list" and click "Next"
- Select everything EXCEPT FOR "Low Resource Simulation" and click "Next"
- Select "Select driver names from a list" and click "Next"
Then select all drivers NOT provided by Microsoft and click "Next"
- Select "Finish" on the next page.

Reboot the system and wait for it to crash to the Blue Screen. Continue to use your system normally, and if you know what causes the crash, do that repeatedly. The objective here is to get the system to crash because Driver Verifier is stressing the drivers out. If it doesn't crash for you, then let it run for at least 36 hours of continuous operation (an estimate on my part).

If you can't get into Windows because it crashes too soon, try it in Safe Mode.
If you can't get into Safe Mode, try using System Restore from your installation DVD to set the system back to the previous restore point that you created.

A:BSOD randomly browsing internet; ntoskrnl.exe

Hi Kaiketsu,

Please remove MSI software, some are known for causing BSOD's.

Daemon tools, Alcohol 120% and Power Archiver Pro uses SCSI Pass Through Direct (SPTD), which is a well known cause for BSOD's.
Please remove Daemon Tools and run the SPTD pass through remover.

Uninstall Daemon ToolsDownload the SPTD standalone installer and follow these steps:
Double click the executable to open itClick on the button shown below

If the button is grayed out, like in the image, there is no more SPTD installation on your system, and you can close the window.

The saved dump file is a 0x1A(MEMORY_MANAGEMENT) caused by a driver that tried to write data to the memory.

There doesn't appear to be any dump files, check this directory:

Code:
C:\Windows\Minidump
Otherwise, I would also suggest checking here:

Code:
C:\Windows\MEMORY.DMP
If there is any files within the latter directory, then please place them into a zipped folder, and upload to the Public folder of a Skydrive or Dropbox account. Post URL to the file in your next post.

What i do with my pc is usually watching movies, watching streaming, browsing, and playing games.
BSOD sometimes happens while im browsing internet/ streaming /youtubing.
Never BSOD on playing games or watching offline movies.

I use a a program to see the minidump dmp file and ntoskrnl.exe always popping up as the culprit.

BSOD has been happening around 5 times in the span of around 1.5 months.

I attached the zip file below, let me know if you need anymore information.

Thanks.

Hey everyone Having some issues with BSODs generally when I'm downloading games such as League of Legends using the Pando Media Booster program to do so when I install download games through Steam and even just when I leave the computer on long enough for it to go on standby While there are several other installing/downloading, errors ntoskrnl.exe when BSOD filenames listed in the crash reports every single one involves the ntoskrnl exe I had it examined by Best Buy and they told me that it's likely a software issue as all my hardware checks out Any help I can get would be appreciated The perfmon report function is not working at the moment possibly because I'm working in Safe Mode so I can type this without interruption by BSOD but attached is the crash reports Edit Perfmon report added - x bit system - Original installed OS on the system BSOD when installing/downloading, ntoskrnl.exe errors - Full retail version - What is the age of system hardware year - Recently reinstalled Windows last week did a repair installation and that seemed to help temporarily

Hi Folks,

I have been getting random BSODs for a while now. Probably one every week or fortnight. It always points to a driver called ntoskrnl.exe

It is a relatavly new computer and I am now at a loose end. I have attached the minidump file.

I hope to hear from you soon and If I get it sorted I will post what fixes the problem.

Thanks

A:BSOD General browsing and downloading a 58mb file

What changes you made recently? Done anything like updating, installing drivers etc?
I don't know exactly. But within my knowledge I like to help you.
Usually, blue screens like these occurs when you have a corrupted hard disk or windows.
(Maybe because of other reasons too)

Try booting into safe mode with command prompt and type in "chkdsk /f" without the quotation marks and wait a while.
This will erase or fix any corrupted data on the HDD.

If you don't see anything unusual in the diagnostic log, then try System File Checker Tool.
Complete guide about what is System File Checker Tool & how to use it:
SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker
How to use the System File Checker tool to troubleshoot missing or corrupted system files on Windows Vista or on Windows 7

Reply to your thread with your findings.
Hope your problem get solved & Take Care.

A:BSOD while playing games or browsing internet. (ntoskrnl.exe ndis.sys)

It appears your installation is counterfeit, no support may be provided until a genuine activation has been used on a clean install.

Troubleshooting a counterfeit installation is useless as it is not known what has been modified to your system.
A counterfeit installation contains heavily modified code which causes the system to behave in unexpected ways.
For this reason, analyzing counterfeit systems is unreliable and analysts won't try it.

I recommend to install a genuine copy of Windows.
If, after you have installed a genuine copy of Windows, you still get BSOD's we'll be happy to assist you.

Hi all,

Before I start, I have resolved the dump file 042415, which was a PSU issue. The other two were the ones I have been getting, namely ntoskrnl.exe error. in the blue screen it said machine-check exception.

I have all the updated drivers. just installed windows 7 again (to fix the previous nvlddmkm.sys issue). New power supply too.

It happened first time while playing Batman - Origins, I was initially testing to see if I would get the nvlddmkm.sys error, which usually happens within 1 min of the game, it was going fine for like half hour until i got a new BSoD error. The second time was just watching a game promo video on steam.

Again due to fixing the previous nvlddmkm.sys error I've done desk checks (chkdsk). memory tests etc etc. Just for additional info.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Regards,

Peter

Welcome to 7F.

Two of your dumps are 0x9C which are no longer supported from Vista upwards and should be treated as a 0x124. 0x124 is a hardware error, but rarely give us any information to work with and the 0x9C gives little information in this instance.

The first course of action would be to replace your nVidia driver. Download an earlier version from here and follow NVIDIA Drivers - Avoid Problems for the cleanest possible install.

Check your GPU temperatures at idle and under load and report back with them. Test the system with the earlier driver installed for stability.

Hey

New computer and installing everything that I want/need on the computer and had no issues till this morning. I keep getting BSOD errors during downloading of both League of Legends and once when opening Tomb Raider(stopped doing so). I've tried reseating the GPU and RAM. I've done a windows repair + start up repair and have exhausted my knowledge of any such error which is why I'm here. The stop errors i've experienced (in order) are PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA, MEMORY_MANAGEMENT, and CACHE_MANAGER.

Hi there,

Recently I've started getting BSODs frequently. It was working fine for a long time and I haven't upgraded my computer in more then 2 years now so the hardware is the same.

It seems the easiest way to force a BSOD on my computer is to start Chrome browser (for some reason) or to attempt to start the computer through Safe Mode. My PC can work fine for days without a BSOD and then randomly start getting crashes one after another for the entire day and then continue working fine again for another week or so...

I tried following instruction on how to analyze the BSODs and read dumps but I have no clue what it means. Using BlueScreenView I can see hal.dll and ntoskrnl.exe most frequently on top of the list (sometimes dtsoftbus01.sys). However I have no clue what it means... hopefully you guys can help.

I've uploaded my BSOD report as instructed. Thanks you!

Ok, so this is actually the third time I've posted here. I keep getting BSoD about once a week, I post here, someone suggests a driver update, I update that driver, then everything seems fine. Then about a week later it crashes again. I don't overclock my system, nothing is over-heating, and at this point I think I've updated all my drivers and Bios. I could be wrong though. I apologize if I'm just an idiot or something and am missing something obvious, but any help would be appreciated. Please see attached .zip file.

It's possible your BIOS may be causing issues as it's quite old and may need updating, however we'll leave that until very last as flashing your BIOS does carry a substantial amount of risk which could lead to you turning your PC into a potato.

Did you actually update your BIOS in between some of these dumps occurring?

Your latest dumps are all 124 errors and these are typically related to a hardware issue and can only be isolated by stress testing the major components.

If overclocking, reset all overclocks back to their default settings and then follow these:
RAM - run for a minimum of 8 consecutive passes
RAM - Test with Memtest86+
CPU - run the HIGH test
CPU - Stress Test Using IntelBurnTest
Video - run the FURMARK test for 20mins
Graphics Card Problems - Diagnose

Hi,

ive been getting these BSOD's for a while now, but only when playing certain games(Mostly HoN, Dota2, WoW, assassins creed etc) they never happen when im using the PC for other requirements.

I've tried re seating the RAM/Vid card etc, nothing helps. I even open it up weekly and clean out the dust from it.

Im currently in the process of removing on certain RAM modules and will try my older video card as well.

My system specs are as follows :

Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit

Intel Core i7 920 @2.67 Ghz

RAM : 12gb DD3

GFX : Nvidia GTX 460 cyclone

MB : Msi X-58 Pro E

Any help would be appreciated!

A:BSOD while gaming only Hal.dll+12a3b, 0x124

1. Your .dmp file shows a stop error of 0x124 which is a general hardware error .

Quote:
A "stop 0x124" is fundamentally different to many other types of bluescreens because it stems from a hardware complaint.

Stop 0x124 minidumps contain very little practical information, and it is therefore necessary to approach the problem as a case of hardware in an unknown state of distress

Some generic advice.

If you are overclocking STOP. Return to the default settings at least for now.
If you are running a RAID update its driver.
You can read more on this error and what to try here... Stop 0x124 - what it means and what to try

The title is pretty self-explanatory; I keep getting BSOD on steam games, particularly DotA and Civ V. I've been supremely bored without my vidjya, so any help would be much appreciated! I've attached the requisite BSOD paperwork, and am pasting some more stuff, and my system specs should be in my profile.

Hello, and welcome to SevenForums!

First of all, have you overclocked your graphics card at all?

The 0x00000124 error code appears during a hardware complaint, such as overheating. If you have overclocked your GPU, RESET IT IMMEDIATELY. This could be causing numerous critical errors in your GPU, causing the whole system to crash. Also, overclocking can severely damage your GPU. I would only recommend it if you know what you are doing and are not just following a tutorial.

But, this could be other things too. I see that your GPU driver is WAY out-of-date. Download the latest drivers via the AMD website.

Best of luck,

PeregrineX

Hi I just built my computer about a month and a half ago and made sure my hardware was secured tightly and properly onto the mother board I updated all of the drivers youtube any error hal.dll+12a3b playing video BSOD or streams online for the PC to the best of my knowledge due to receiving BSOD in the beginning partly because the drivers were not up to date BSOD playing youtube or any online video streams error hal.dll+12a3b After the driver updates everything is working great from playing games and the usual day to day use of the PC But when I started streaming two windows of online videos from either youtube or any other video site thats when it started to give me the BSOD But it was sporadic and not crashing with every single video playback It would crash on some videos and not on others I did some research and found a software called bluescreenview which captures the BSOD codes and this was what I found hal dll a b I don't understand what this code means because based on my research it could be multiple factors Please help me Thank you - OS Windows bit - OS was full retail - Age of the system is about two months old now - Age of the OS installation is about two months old Other hardware specs CPU Intel i - K GHz Gigs of RAM

A:BSOD playing youtube or any online video streams error hal.dll+12a3b

All of them are the HAL for Windows reporting that your CPU has detected an internal failure. Given the strong consistency for these errors (they're all identical with the same cpu cache bank referenced), I'm afraid your CPU has most likely kicked the bucket.

Before you proceed on anything, if you have your system overclocked in any way, shape or fashion, reset to factory defaults. It's good sense that despite previous success with overclocking, if a system starts getting unstable, the first thing one should blame is the overclocking and reset as a result. Even if it isn't, it can easily be returned to its previous settings.

Anyways, I have sometimes seen software bugs arise that would cause this, and even once I seen a video card cause this problem (how, I have absolutely no clue). First of all, if you have any software that came with your motherboard besides the drivers, uninstall them. I've found they are very buggy as well as gimmicky, and strangely they have usually caused WHEA errors like this, making it appear the hardware is at fault. Second, update your BIOS if you haven't already, as that can potentially cause this. Lastly, run MemtestCL on your video card. Note that since you have an ATI card, you'll need to download and install the ATI APP SDK first, as it requires OpenCL.

Those should cover any potential edge cases that could create these WHEA errors. However, my opinion would be that this is certain hardware (CPU). The causes mentioned previously have the potential to create WHEA errors, but honestly, the specific WHEA error reported here is micro-architectural failure, which is most certainly the CPU's prob.

It only happens when I'm running torrent programs such as uTorrent or Vuze. At first, I thought it was simply a problem related to Vuze, but the issue recurred while using uTorrent.
MemoryTest done with 5 passes and no errors. MBAM shows clean as well.

Welcome to the forum devroad,

From your BSOD reports it is very clear that the cause is BitDefender AV software.

I have been having issues with downloading torrents, in that every time I download and install either UTorrent or BitTorrent, and as soon as a torrent is being queued to download, a BSOD occurs within minutes.

My laptop had crashed a while back, and I had had the hard-drive replaced by the local Tech Support people. Ever since then, I have been facing this issue. This issue was not there before my laptop crashed and before the new hard-drive was put in place.

But since then, a BSOD occurs within minutes of using either UTorrent or BitTorrent and the only way of stopping the BSOD from occuring has been to completely uninstall BitTorrent or UTorrent.

I have attached the requested files.

Please do help! Thank you!

hi

Why are you running two antivirus at the same time ??? Mcafee and Avast...!!!

Remove both and installed MSE !!

All the BSOD refers to Bugcheck D1 related to NETIO.SYS which is you network I/O driver... and it BSOD when writing the buffer to the drive...

Do the above first and let me know if it still bsod

Hey!

I have recently starting to get bsod from downloading torrents. It worked like a charm before so I cant put my finger on what it can be. I am using uTorrent, but I have also tried other clients just to make sure that it's not uTorrent that causes the problem.
It does not go to bluescreen when the torrent client is open, but immediatly when I start to download something it crashes. I have updated all drivers including bios, but no luck.

My compouter is: Samsung NP530U3B

Adding logs!

All help is good help!

Thanks!

A:BSOD from dowloading torrents

We've seen a number of BSOD issues with SSD's. Here's the information that I've compiled so far:

There's not a whole bunch available to test SSD's. The "easiest" test is to remove the SSD, install a platter-based hard drive, install Windows and test for stability that way.

Here's some suggestions:
- Update the SSD's firmware to the latest available version (VERY IMPORTANT!!!)
- Update the motherboard controllers drivers to the latest available version from the controller manufacturer (NOT the mobo manufacturer unless you can't find any on the controller manufacturer's website). Be sure to update ALL controllers on the motherboard! I STRONGLY suggest not using controller drivers older than mid-2012 with SSD's.
- Slow the memory (RAM) down to the next slower speed (I've only seen one person who claimed that this worked for them).
- Use any manufacturer's utilities that you may have. If you don't have any, then try this free one (I haven't used it myself): Crystal Dew World
....NOTE: Recently (Nov 2011) we had BSOD issues with the Marvell 91xx controller and an SSD. You may have to switch controllers also.
- Replace the SSD with a platter based hard drive and see if that stops the BSOD's. If it does, then it's likely that there's a problem with the SSD OR an incompatibility with your system.
06 Dec 2011 - This post tends to confirm issues with certain SSD chipsets and certain controllers - [SOLVED] cant find the cause of BSOD F4 - Tech Support Forum
05 Jan 2013 - very interesting post about difficulties with the Marvell controllers even when not connected to the SSD drives: https://www.eightforums.com/bsod-cra...tml#post169956
27 Feb 2013 - I'm starting to see much better reliability with SSD's using current (mid-2012 and later) storage drivers. I have withdrawn my objections to using these devices in everyday systems.

Memory dumps seem to point to AVG. Please uninstall it and use the built-in Windows Defender and Firewall (activate it through the Action Center).

Please update these older drivers. Links are included to assist in looking up the source of the drivers. If unable to find an update, please remove (un-install) the program responsible for that driver. DO NOT manually delete/rename the driver as it may make the system unbootable! :

REMOVE THIS PROGRAM as it's known to cause BSOD's:

A:BSOD after win 8.1 and running torrents plz help

to the forum mate.

Please follow the below steps.

Upload the actual crash dump files.

You will find the crash dump files inside C:\Windows\Minidump folder. To copy the dumps, disable "User Account Control" first. Otherwise you may receive a permission error. After disabling UAC, copy and zip all the dumps and create an archive. Either attach the zip with next reply using "More reply options --> Attach files" or use a free file hosting site.

For example -> http://www.mediafire.com/

Minitoolbox log.

"Minitoolbox" can list all the installed programs as well as event log errors in your system. Download "Minitoolbox" from the below link.

http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/minitoolbox/

Run the tool and only select the following tick boxes.

Hi, this issue is relatively explanatory from the subject title.
I am just recently getting BSOD's and system lockups when running any BitTorrent program. Usually, after anywhere from 10 minutes to 2 hours, the system will just randomly crash in either fashion. I don't know if this is a software or a network issue- I just recently moved to a new apartment complex, and only got this problem after the move-in.

Thanks in advance for any help!

I get this BSOD Driver_IRQL_Not_Less_Or_Equal when downloading torrents sometimes, or when watching them. Sometimes when gaming (WoW, Diablo 3).

It consistently happens whenever I try to download anything via torrent. I know that's what's causing it, because even if uTorrent is open for a few minutes, and just seeding some torrents, it will crash dump.

If it can go for a while without crashing, I can usually force it to by running any program that taxes the system at all, like playing a game or video.

A:BSOD whenever I do torrents (IRQL not less or equal, NETIO.sys)

Hi,

All of the attached DMP files as you said are of the DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL (d1) bugcheck:

This indicates that a kernel-mode driver attempted to access pageable memory at a process IRQL that was too high.

A driver tried to access an address that is pageable (or that is completely invalid) while the IRQL was too high. This bug check is usually caused by drivers that have used improper addresses.

Throughout all of the *D1 dumps we have consistent NETIO.sys faults which is the
Network I/O Subsystem driver. It's not the true cause and is likely being driven to fault by something else.

Usually in network related crashes like this is caused by in most cases a 3rd party antivirus or firewall, however other device drivers / software is possible as well.

Do you have any security software installed, or a firewall? I skimmed quickly though your drivers list and didn't see anything, although I may have missed.

If you DO, remove it ASAP and replace with Windows 8's built-in Windows Defender. If you DON'T, enable Driver Verifier:
Driver Verifier:

What is Driver Verifier?

Driver Verifier is included in Windows 8, 7, Windows Server 2008 R2, Windows Vista, Windows Server 2008, Windows 2000, Windows XP, and Windows Server 2003 to promote stability and reliability; you can use this tool to troubleshoot driver issues. Windows kernel-mode components can cause system corruption or system failures as a result of an improperly written driver, such as an earlier version of a Windows Driver Model (WDM) driver.

Essentially, if there's a 3rd party driver believed to be at issue, enabling Driver Verifier will help flush out the rogue driver if it detects a violation.

Before enabling Driver Verifier, it is recommended to create a System Restore Point:

Vista - START | type rstrui - create a restore point
Windows 7 - START | type create | select "Create a Restore Point"
Windows 8 - Restore Point - Create in Windows 8

How to enable Driver Verifier:

Start > type "verifier" without the quotes > Select the following options -

1. Select - "Create custom settings (for code developers)"
2. Select - "Select individual settings from a full list"
3. Check the following boxes -
- Special Pool
- Pool Tracking
- Force IRQL Checking
- Deadlock Detection
- Security Checks (Windows 7 & 8)
- DDI compliance checking (Windows 8)
- Miscellaneous Checks
4. Select - "Select driver names from a list"
5. Click on the "Provider" tab. This will sort all of the drivers by the provider.
6. Check EVERY box that is NOT provided by Microsoft / Microsoft Corporation.
7. Click on Finish.
8. Restart.

Important information regarding Driver Verifier:

- If Driver Verifier finds a violation, the system will BSOD.

- After enabling Driver Verifier and restarting the system, depending on the culprit, if for example the driver is on start-up, you may not be able to get back into normal Windows because Driver Verifier will flag it, and as stated above, that will cause / force a BSOD.

If this happens, do not panic, do the following:

- Boot into Safe Mode by repeatedly tapping the F8 key during boot-up.

- Once in Safe Mode - Start > type "system restore" without the quotes.

- Choose the restore point you created earlier.
If you did not set up a restore point, do not worry, you can still disable Driver Verifier to get back into normal Windows:

- Start > Search > type "cmd" without the quotes.

- To turn off Driver Verifier, type in cmd "verifier /reset" without the quotes.
・ Restart and boot into normal Windows.

How long should I keep Driver Verifier enabled for?

It varies, many experts and analysts have different recommendations. Personally, I recommend keeping it enabled for at least 24 hours. If you don't BSOD by then, disable Driver Verifier.

My system BSOD'd, where can I find the crash dumps?

They will be located in %syste... Read more

My notebook has a chronic problem of freezing--BSOD--with or without a message.

The most recent event log displays it had BSOD 14 times (all with ID 14 posting) in 7 days. For the same 7 days, it posted 910 errors among which ID 719 covers 719 errors.

The notebook is equipped with ATI Mobility Radeon HD 530v.

For your reference, I am attaching Seven Forum zip file (kwon1607.zip).

Much thanks for your support.

I keep getting BSODs when I play games for a short while At first I thought when BSOD says ntoskrnl.exe games. BSOD BlueScreenView caused playing it was a bad installation of Windows BSOD when playing games. BlueScreenView says ntoskrnl.exe caused BSOD so I did a clean format full of my SSD and a clean install of Windows Ultimate x Installation failed quite a few times before finally succeeding Tried another copy of Windows same install failures I finally finished reinstalling Windows on my PC I suspected the RAM to be at fault so I ran MemTest and found a ton of errors Upon closer inspection of the BIOS settings I found that my board was clocking my ram in Auto mode at mhz instead of the factory mhz Corsair Vengeance LP DDR CAS on Asus Sabertooth Z I updated my BIOS to the latest as of this posting and I still have to manually set the memory frequencies for it to run at mhz Everything seemed fine for a few hours running prime I supposed my PC was fine now after that clean install of Windows but a few minutes into playing Battlefield I BSOD I am no pro at reading dump files and I was hoping someone could help me isolate the sources of my BSODs I've attached the minidump files for each BSOD below Thanks

Hi

I have been downloading torrent files (predominantly music) for a few years now and have never had any problems with infections. Whenever I download a torrent file I scan that file with anti-virus and anti-malware. These scans always come back OK.

I read in various forums that torrent files are risky and open up your computer to attack. My PC knowledge is fairly elementary so I am unable to confirm if that is the case. Generally, before I download torrents I check the comment box to say what other users have say about the file as their comments are a good indicator of the quality of the torrent.

Based on my own experience, I would say that downloading torrents is safe provided a cautious approach is adopted as described above.

What do others think? Any notable experiences would be useful.

Cheers

I paid a local computer shop to set up an old AcerPowerS290 so I could download torrents and watch movies and tv shows. I hooked it up to my tv and it is so slow that it'll never work well. Did I just get ripped off???
I thought that these were stand up guys.

A:downloading torrents

1.Welcome to Tech Support Guy
2. The computer, whilst it depends on what has been - setup
I paid a local computer shop to set up an old AcerPowerS290 Click to expand...

was in essence never designed for that sort of work
In its base form it had only 512MB ram and cannot have more than 2GB
It has an integrated lower spec graphics

http://reviews.cnet.com/desktops/acer-acerpower-s290-celeron/4507-3118_7-32428363.html

3.
download torrents and watch movies and tv showsClick to expand...

AND torrented downloads are generally speaking inadvisable.
They are not infrequently a source of malware and as far as movies are concerned, although not a generalisation they are often a breach of the various laws regarding copyright.

4. I am completely unable to pass any opinion on

Did I just get ripped off???Click to expand...

as we do not know what was supposedly done, promised to be done etc. If for instance it only had the original 512MB ram and you were told that it would be better with 2GB ram, then that is perfectly true.

Sorry that I cannot assist further.

I've downloaded two different BitTorrent clients and files just don't dowload. It says 0 seeds, 0 leechers (don't know what those are). I'm assuming you need them to download anything. But on the page where I downloaded the file, there's 300+ leechers and seeds.

I know downloading is illegal, and i've heard about people getting fined and law suits gainst them for it adn getting their ip address logged and geting warning messages because of it.

I am just wondering to who this happens...are we talking serious downloaders or does it matter in what time frame you do a certain amount for example a week or a month?

Or do you just have to be unlucky?

How much do you have to do to be in with a chance of any of the above happening to you?

If someone could enlighten me on this subject it owuld be much appreciated,

Thank you,

Person123.

Depends on what you are after. Popular movies, new releases especially are gonna be watched, same with popular music and software.

My torrent downloads are not working at all since recently. I tried with uTorrent too. But it's also stuck in "Connecting to peers". Please help me fix this issue. Thanks in advance.

A:Torrents are not downloading

Just been reading about this issue this morning (private torrent site so cant give link) and it looks like one of the latest MS security updates has messed it up
There seems to be 2 possible solutions

Remove the program from the firewall and then re add it back with access
or
if its uTorrrent then it might need a re install to allow it through the firewall

but it seems firewall related, so check there and see what it says for the program
