I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: BSOD randomly while running

you need to get your windows up to date, you do not have service pack 1 installed which wont help and there are no dump files in your upload and your msinfo file is corrupted

after you have updated please run the SF tool again, click grab all and wait a couple minutes for the info to be collected

check C:\windows\minidump for any dump files
have a look at this

Hp Pavillion DV7 has now randomly started Blue Screening as of yesterday. This occurs even when nothing has been opened and is just sitting at the desktop. Only change on system was an upgrade three weeks ago to a Kingston HyperX 3K 120gig SSD drive. System is running a fresh install (installed when I put in the SSD drive) of Windows 7 Ultimate.

AMD OverDrive is known to cause instability with systems. Please remove the software. Software overclocking does not provide reliable overclocking. Overclocking should be accomplished through the BIOS or through the graphics card manufacturer's software.

Recommend removing your ASUS utilities through Start Menu -> Control Panel -> Uninstall a program. They can provide software interfaces with the hardware for overclocking, and even when the overclock is not enabled, that interface can cause instability. They are also not needed for the system to function properly and may reduce system resources.

MSI Afterburner/RivaTuner is known to cause instability with systems. Please remove the software. Software overclocking does not provide reliable overclocking. Overclocking should be accomplished through the BIOS or through the graphics card manufacturer's software.

Spybot Search and Destroy is not the best malware/spyware utility. Take a look at Good and Free system security combination. for better options.

Analysis:Crashes point to hardware issues. Please take care of the above software overclocking programs and see if it resolves your crashes.

Hello TrueYears and welcome to Sevenforums!

You said that you've experience BSODs. For allowing us to debug your errors you've been experiencing, we'll need a little information.

http://www.sevenforums.com/crashes-d...tructions.html

If you're having trouble enabling minidumps, maybe you'll find this speech handy.

Quote:
Your Minidump content should be in the folder at the path C:\Windows\Minidump. If there's no files inside, make sure minidumps are enabled by -
Go to Start, then Run, then type in "sysdm.cpl" (without the quotes) and press Enter
Click on the Advanced tab
Click on the Startup and Recovery button
Ensure that "Automatically restart" is unchecked
Under the Write Debugging Information header select "Small memory dump (64 kB)" in the dropdown box
Ensure that the Small Dump Directory is listed as "%systemroot%\Minidump" (without the quotes)
Click OK twice to exit the dialogs, then reboot for the changes to take effect.

Next time you'd experience a BSOD, a dump is supposed to be generated. When it's generated, wrap it up in a zip and upload it.

A:New to Forum and Need Help on CPU running 100% randomly

Greetings and Welcome to The Forums!!My name is Gringo and I'll be glad to help you with your malware problems.I have put together somethings for you to keep in mind while I am helping you to make things go easier and faster for both of usPlease do not run any tools unless instructed to do so.
We ask you to run different tools in a specific order to ensure the malware is completely removed from your machine, and running any additional tools may detect false positives, interfere with our tools, or cause unforeseen damage or system instability. Please do not attach logs or use code boxes, just copy and paste the text.
Due to the high volume of logs we receive it helps to receive everything in the same format, and code boxes make the logs very difficult to read. Also, attachments require us to download and open the reports when it is easier to just read the reports in your post. Please read every post completely before doing anything.
Pay special attention to the NOTE: lines, these entries identify an individual issue or important step in the cleanup process. Please provide feedback about your experience as we go.
A short statement describing how the computer is working helps us understand where to go next, for example: I am still getting redirected, the computer is running normally, etc. Please do not describe the computer as "the same", this requires the extra step of looking back at your previous post.NOTE: At the top of your post, click on the Watch Topic Button, select Immediate Notification, and click on Proceed. This will send you an e-mail as soon as I reply to your topic, allowing us to resolve the issue faster.NOTE: Backup any files that cannot be replaced. Removing malware can be unpredictable and this step can save a lot of heartaches if things don't go as planed. You can put them on a CD/DVD, external drive or a pen drive, anywhere except on the computer. NOTE: It is good practice to copy and paste the instructions into notepad and print them in case it is necessary for you to go offline during the cleanup process. To open notepad, navigate to Start Menu > All Programs > Accessories > Notepad. Please remember to copy the entire post so you do not miss any instructions. These are the programs I would like you to run next, if you have any problems with these just skip it and run the next one.-Security Check-Download Security Check by screen317 from here.Save it to your Desktop.Double click SecurityCheck.exe and follow the onscreen instructions inside of the black box.A Notepad document should open automatically called checkup.txt; please post the contents of that document.-AdwCleaner-Please download AdwCleaner by Xplode onto your desktop.
Close all open programs and internet browsers.Double click on AdwCleaner.exe to run the tool.Click on Delete.Confirm each time with Ok.Your computer will be rebooted automatically. A text file will open after the restart. Please post the content of that logfile with your next answer. You can find the logfile at C:\AdwCleaner[S1].txt as well.--RogueKiller-- Download & SAVE to your Desktop RogueKiller or from here

Then Click on "Scan" button Wait until the Status box shows "Scan Finished"click on "delete" Wait until the Status box shows "Deleting Finished" Click on "Report" and copy/paste the content of the Notepad into your next reply. The log should be found in RKreport[1].txt on your DesktopExit/Close RogueKiller+Gringo

I think I may have found the problem, there is a process running named svchost.exe*32 with the description winrscmde. I am not sure if this is the problem, but it stuck out to me. This process is also running at a high rate which made me suspect something. My computer has also been crashing and going to the blue screen here recently. Hope you can help, these ads are driving me insane!!!!!

A:Computer randomly running slow

Welcome

Run a full and updated anti virus scan
Download and run a full scan with malwarebytes
If positive report back
If negative,
Test with a clean boot
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135
If all that does not help, test memory

Download memtest86 and test RAM

www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/105647-ram-test-memtest86.html

Run for 8 passes
Ifit passes try a good stick in each slot for 3 passes
Ifit fails do the same for 8 passes.

If it works OK in safe mode
Soluto may give the answer
http://www.soluto.com/About/

http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/81176-speed-up-performance-vista.html

These should be the first steps that are taken. If everything proves negative, I would go with full malwareware testing with one of our experts.

My computer recently started "shutting down" randomly. However, when it shutsdown, all the fans and power seem to still be running while the monitor goes into standby mode. I then have to force the computer to turn off completely. Sometimes, the computer would shutdown during the bootup stage or not start at all. I've noticed the light on my CD drive goes orange whenever this happens.

I have an AMD Athlon 2800
Radeon 9700
512 single stick of ram
400w power supply.

I have already tried replacing the power supply.
Any suggestions.

A:Computer randomly shutsdown, but fans still running

It might be a thermal shutdown, i.,e., cpu is running too hot. Make sure the fan on top of your cpu is running and there is no blockage or impairment of the air being sucked in by this fan. There is usually a separate air duct to the outside the case for this fan.

You might try opening the case, removing this duct and then running the computer with the case open. See if your problem goes away.

So this has been happening ever since I Randomly but Computer Screen Running? Freezes Still got my computer I took Screen Randomly Freezes but Computer Still Running? it in to see if a service could take a look at it and they ran a benchmark to get the usage to for like hours Computer was still running fine he recommended me to get a UPS because it could be browning out but that solved nothing So what basically happens is that once a week or times a day it happens randomly could be while playing a game or just browsing the web What happens is that the monitor just freezes it is still on it is like a screenshot of my screen it stays still cursor stops audio stops everything The computer is still running fine it could be a failure in hardware but most likely not It is not the monitor itself because it worked fine with the same monitor with my previous computer and I just got a new monitor last week I also noticed is if it happens once then it'll happen a few more times in Screen Randomly Freezes but Computer Still Running? a day then it'll stop for - days and start again could just be a coincidence but I don't know Thanks Alex Hope to get this solved starting to annoy me

A:Screen Randomly Freezes but Computer Still Running?

Check your connections to your PC/GPU and your monitor, however you have it connected. Make sure that there are no bent pins and that the thumb screws are hand tight plus a quarter turn. Then make sure you have the latest driver for either your onboard GPU or add-on GPU.

A:Computer keeps crashing only when running games or randomly

SYMFW.SYS a file in Symantec Firewall is one of the files causing your crashes. Uninstall Norton and use a free version of AVG and Zone Alarm. Also KMIXER.SYS caused a crash which is a sound card driver. If after you remove Norton you still get blue screens then uninstall your sound card, delete the drivers (while in safe mode) then reinstall the card and drivers.

Laptop is a Toshiba Qosmio X875-7190, bought it in march of this year. Looked up the reviews, saw it was a good rig for what I wanted. But since May it has been randomly freezing and I have to hard reset it to be able to use it again. Some what of an issue when I'm playing a game or actually doing work on it. Toshiba customer support is trash they aren't helpful. I even sent it in already once with this issue and they said nothing was wrong and they factory reset it. I already had done that and the issue still happens. I'm about ready to just toss this thing out the window and waste another 1500$ on a new rig..... again. But I really don't want to do that, so could someone help me with trying to figure this out?

I would send it to them again! Don't let them get away with it if you think its their fault.

Anyway, so we can get a better look at what you're running, please post back with a Speccy report:
Please download Speccy System Information Tool and save it to somewhere convenient such as your desktop.
Close any programs that may be running including your browser and double click Speccy.exe to run the tool.
Watch out for any offers to install other programs such as google chrome and untick the box(es) if you don't want them.
Speccy will very quickly scan your pc and create a report.
Top left of screen click file and select Publish Snapshot...
Click Yes to proceed.
Copy the URL to your clipboard and paste it into your next reply.

Hi About - weeks ago I formatted my computer and reinstalled Windows XP because my PC was starting to really slow down to sometimes frustrating speeds It had been about years since I ve done it Now I m finding that once again my computer is running slowly pretty much the same as how it was before I reinstalled Windows I have a small variety of scanners and anti virus spyware programs restarting. Computer + running slow randomly AVG CA Adaware SE Personal however they haven t been picking up much at all besides tracking cookies Computer running slow + randomly restarting. I Computer running slow + randomly restarting. DID pick up a couple of Trojans with AVG Computer running slow + randomly restarting. titled KillAV exe or something of the likes I ve deleted them out of the vault so I can t really get the name for you Apart from that I haven t picked up anything except CA Anti-Spyware is picking up uTorrent as a high-risk Trojan even though I ve uninstalled it reinstalled it deleted it downloaded it again installed it etc - It s never been targeted before Sooo I m not sure whether or not this is a virus problem Basically the troubles I m having is that sometimes various applications will take longer to load than they should sometimes up to seconds to open One example that stands out is occasionally when watching multiple videos in a row with Windows Media Player eg minute episodes the first one will run fine but the second one will lag and stutter the video not audio so I need to close WMP and reopen it with the new video Also sometimes when I open WMP it will take a long time to load usually in these cases appearing to freeze up in which I sometimes can only close it with Task Manager gt Processes I also seem to have this trouble when opening up explorer such as opening My Computer to get into my C or opening My Documents etc Lastly possibly the most frustrating problem is the computer actually shutting down and restarting randomly Usually I don t see it happen as I m out of the room at the time usually for minutes in these cases however it mostly happens at night if I leave the computer on for downloading during the night when no one else is using the internet It has happened while I ve been on the computer occasionally though Nothing really special is going on at the time it happens usually nothing is open besides uTorrent Which like I said is being picked up as a Trojan however I ve never had this happen before and I ve used uTorrent for over a year Not sure if there s anything else I should add I ll put in my computer specs just in case -Windows XP Home Edition with Service Pack -AMD Athlon Processor GHz - GB RAM -Radeon I have GB free in the HDD Windows is installed on and another GB in total on my second HDD which is partitioned I think that s all the hopefully necessary information I can give Thanks nbsp

The machine also emitted a single continuous (unwavering) beep after the random shutdown on one occaision.
I checked all cables and ran a hardware diagnostics from the bios prompt screen. Everything passed.

What could the problem be?

Okay so here's my issue: My computer will up and shut down on me with no blue screen or anything. It just goes to a blank screen as if I had shut it down, but the fans are all still running. I also noticed that after a hard shut down my led indicator was still on and I could not restart the computer without unplugging it from my power strip, letting the light die out, and then plugging it back in. Please help, I'm at a loss.

P.S. I have some computer experience

Hello,
Throughout the past week my computer has been sporadically freezing and buzzing, forcing me to restart when it happens. At random intervals it will freeze and proceed to make a buzzing noise that emits from my speakers. It never crashes to blue screen, I ultimately have to force a restart.

I've made sure that everything is properly connected and that the computer is clean. I'm not really sure what the problem is.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi,

My computer has been unstable for quite some time and after memory tests, changing graphics cards, many driver variations and a couple of fresh OS installs a while ago it is still not stable.

The difficulty is that it doesn't seem to be triggered by anything specific so it makes debugging really difficult... sometimes it crashes twice a day then not for another week or two.

Please help me shed some light on how this could be resolved as I am considering stripping the PC down to its components, selling them and buying a pre-built system instead.

Thanks
Henry

Using which tool/software? You should run Memtes86+ for at least 7 Passes (Test each RAM stick individually)
RAM - Test with Memtest86+
Your BSODs are RAM/Memory related, rest your RAM settings to their default values in your BIOS. Stop any overclocking if any.

Run Prime 95 to test your CPU. Carefully the instructions in this tutorial: CPU - Stress Test with Prime95. Run 3 separate tests, one on each of the settings (Blend, Small FFTs, Large FFTs). Post back with your results.
Note that this test may overheat the CPU, ensure proper cooling.

Post back with your results.

I just got my computer back from my IT department. They reformatted it because they needed to change something in the network start-up script. It now runs at about 1/4 the speed it used to with start-up times runing 7-8 minutes on average. Also, half the stuff I try to run just randomly crashes. Any ideas?

A:Vista running really slow and many applications crashing randomly

Assuming, it's a company computer, why don't you complain to your IT people?

After lots of fiddling and frustration I have decided to give this a shot. I run 2 x Hanns-G HE245DPB LCD monitors, and often they start up with one or both of them having the colors inverted.

Sometimes a restart fixes this, and sometimes it doesn't. I have tried turning them on after my computer has started, turning on the secondary monitor after login, checking the connections... and it keeps happening. I have a fair amount of experience troubleshooting computer issues, and I haven't really seen anything like this before. If anyone has experienced this before I would GREATLY appreciate input!

A:Running 2 Monitors, 1 or both will randomly start up inverted colors

Hi welcome to the forum

have you tested the monitors on another computer? this would tell if its the monitors or the computer. have you tried updating the graphics drivers? does it happen when just one monitor is hooked up?

edit: have you tried the intagrated graphics?

Just got a new computer 2 days ago:

Alienware Aurora_r3
Intel Core i7-2600 CPU @ 3.40 Ghz
4.00 GB ram
Windows 7 (64bit)
Dual video cards, both AMD Radeon HD 6800 series, with latest catalyst drivers installed directly from the website

Whenever I try to run games in full screen mode (as opposed to windowed), after 2 to 5 minutes my computer will just turn off. No error messages, warning sounds, lights, anything.. it just turns off. Affected games include Starcraft2, WoW, League of Legends, that I have tested so far.

However, if I run these games in windowed mode, I can play without interruption with all graphic options turned to the max. Problem does not appear to be overheating, as the thermal indicator software that came with pre-installed never gets above 29C.

Any ideas how to fix? I don't want to have to send it back 2 days after getting it

A:New computer randomly restarts when running games in fullscreen

Alienware has been known with plagued thermal problems.

You can check inside the case and see if there's any possible mis-directed air flows, and point the duct, or add the fan to that area and see if that helps.

Dual video cards are known to be overheat very easily. If you have three PCI-E slots, move the last HD6800 to the bottom and extend the Crossfire cable to there, and see if that actually remedy with that kind of problem.
Otherwise, send it back and complain that you were ripped off, and maybe they could fix it for free.
EDITED: There's other possible options;

- kill all tasks in task manager, or using the batch with " taskkill /F /IM "program name"
- update your directX
- Downgrade your catalyst driver version to the factory driver, or upgrade to the newest driver that is FROM ATI/AMD website. ( www.amd.com )
- leave your side case to open up the more air-flows in the computer.

its a Dell Vostro 400 that was new in 2008, running Windows XP; I've been on line in my email when this has happened, but I am a writer and spend a lot of time in my word processor -

Is Windows 7 . . .

- the original installed OS on the system? Windows 7 Ultimate x64
- an OEM or full retail version? Retail

- What is the age of system (hardware)? ~1 year
- What is the age of OS installation (have you re-installed the OS?) ~1 year, I installed it when I got the laptop.

Also, one of my USB ports is not working, it has been like that for a while. The sound jack is also broken i fell on the headphone cord. The sound still works, just have to move it a bit. I'm about to send it in to get the hardware repaired and was hoping I could get an answer here on the BSOD before hand. The laptop is a Sager W860CU. Thanks!

I'm currently scanning with Avast.

I took a picture of the BSOD with my phone. Hopefully you can see all the characters.

Thanks!

Hi This is my first time posting so sorry if my thread title is awful but really didn't know how to explain my system problems I've been using these forums for a long time with previous issues and have tried so much with my current problems to fix it myself but my PC knowledge experience has a limit I am getting completely random BSOD type shutdowns without the blue screen appearing with any messages this can happen during a virus scan MSE or during malwarebytes premium just no message BSOD BSOD restarting. randomly occurring but scan happens during sfc scannow randomly IE or Chrome can crash not respond of which sometimes can lead to a BSOD type crash it's happened whilst installing Windows updates or searching for any new updates A few fresh installs BSOD occurring randomly but no BSOD message just restarting. ago I was getting these problems WITH BSOD messages and I thought it might be bad memory so I ran memtest for passes on each stick in each slot one was bad so I have since purchased new BSOD occurring randomly but no BSOD message just restarting. RAM and a new SSD which was my reward for finding a problem out all by myself I got problems again still so I completed another fresh install and installed the basics as a test latest gfx drivers motherboard drivers then struggled with windows updates any that failed repeatedly I downloaded and installed from MS website then my antivirus software and I'm still getting random BSODs and IE Chrome crashing ALOT I should add I followed the steps for my SSDs in this link Solid State Drive SSD Tweaks for Windows Not sure if that's any help I have a nasty gut feeling it's a dodgy PSU Mobo but my wallet is hoping it really isn't if it is the case I'd rather the PROs tell me straight over randomly searching websites for answers Many Thanks

So no BSOD is appearing? There is no crash dump recorded, too. That makes it sense that you are not having a BSOD issue, but random shutdown. Which may be caused by anything and everything.

First make it sure that there is no problem with the power connection and power chords.

Next make it sure that the PSU is working properly.

Next, monitor the temperature. Publish a Speccy snapshot after a couple of hours of normal usage: Speccy - Publish Snapshot of your System Specs .

If all is OK upto this point, the next thing to do is a complete dismantle, dusting and re-seating the computer.

Do upto this point. Report back the situation. If nothing is changed then more steps will be needed.

I'm not quite sure what the cause of this bsod is. It just happens randomly every other day or so at night.
Thanks for taking a look.

A:BSOD randomly, every other day or so. Error bsod stop: 0x0000007a

Free up the startup. Windows does not need any other program to auto start with it, but the auto start programs often conflicts and causes various problems including BSODs.
Click on the Start button
Type “msconfig (without quotes), click the resulting link. It will open the System Configuration window.
Select the “Startup” tab.
Deselect all items other than the antivirus.
Apply > OK
Accept then restart.
Update the USB3 driver from GIGABYTE - Motherboard - Socket 1155 - G1.Sniper M3 (rev. 1.0)

Make it sure that the SSD is having the latest firmware. Samsung SSD Downloads | Samsung SSD

Let us know the results. Also report us for any further BSODs after doing those.

By the way, disabling hibernate would be good for you.

Hi guys,

I am new on this forum, this is my first post here. I read plenty of other threads but i can`t find the solution for the problems I have.

I am running my system with Windows 7 Home Premium 32-bit. This works fine after 3 or 4 years, but the last time it crashes every day a few times. I installed all the new necessary drivers. The last driver for my Geforce 8400M GS is released on 15-5-2012. I`ve done 2 clean installations of Windows booting it from the DVD, formatting and install it again, but no result.

Please is there anybody who wants to help me, because i am at a point now to buy a complete new laptop

Dear readers as the title states my laptop randomly shut down twice so far when the battery was inside but the AC power cable was in the computer The battery icon bottom left indicated that it was charged running on AC power on High Performance and when I was in a game it randomly went off Rebooted quicker than (when when randomly power is down running shuts inside) AC on battery Laptop usual skipping some of the startup processes it usually does when I manually turn it off The first time it did this the battery was Laptop randomly shuts down when running on AC power (when battery is inside) very hot even though it was running on AC This time it is not it is barely warm Another thing to mention is that both times after being back in desktop the battery would be quot available plugged in charging quot but it would not charge it stays at until I remove it and put it back in I am having a problem while playing games as well which we are discussing in another thread here http forums techguy org games -significant-fps-drops html And here is my original thread http forums techguy org games -large-fps-performance-drop-stuttering html post Hope someone has some insight on the matter Kindest regards Vadim Zinkovski nbsp

A:Laptop randomly shuts down when running on AC power (when battery is inside)

Hi,
Some batteries can't take the electricity constantly flowing threw them i suggest you take the battery out when you plug it in the wall and put it in when your on the go. You battery does work still when you unplugg it from the wall right? And im guessing when your battery starts to fail it switches to "power saver" mode instead of "high performance" mode.
so take out the battery and plug it into the wall, store the battery until well until you need it. Hope this helps.
Also could be the result of a faulty battery..How long have you had your laptop?

If the HD keeps failing you could have cooling issues. One of the HW gurus would have more specific ideas I think.

Edit: But especially where you say it's a small form factor I'm thinking the ventilation may not be sufficient.

No DMP files included in upload please try this method
We do need the DMP file as it contains the only record of the sequence of events leading up to the crash, what drivers were loaded, and what was responsible.

You may be able to get the DMP files without crashing by booting into safe mode (F8) with networking.

To enable us to assist you with your computer's BSOD symptoms, upload the contents of your "\Windows\Minidump" folder.

The procedure:

* Copy the contents of \Windows\Minidump to another (temporary) location somewhere on your machine.
* Zip up the copy.
* Attach the ZIP archive to your post using the "paperclip" (file attachments) button.
*If the files are too large please upload them to a file sharing service like "Rapidshare" and put a link to them in your reply.
To ensure minidumps are enabled:

* Go to Start, in the Search Box type: sysdm.cpl, press Enter.
* Under the Advanced tab, click on the Startup and Recovery Settings... button.
* Ensure that Automatically restart is unchecked.
* Under the Write Debugging Information header select Small memory dump (256 kB) in the dropdown box (the 256kb varies).
* Ensure that the Small Dump Directory is listed as %systemroot%\Minidump.
* OK your way out.
* Reboot if changes have been made.

I have an ASUS U56E laptop that randomly reboots when running anything, minesweeper, spider solitare, IE explorer. No bluescreen appears, the screen goes black and the machine reboots. If you win a spider solitare game and leave the fireworks running in background it does not reboot, but if you leave the fireworks running for a while as soon as you kill the fireworks it shuts down immediately. I have run temperate checks, memory check, full disk scan, and reloaded the machine from initial disks. I even brought it to Best Buy and their geek squad told me they tested it thouroughly by running a video streamer on it and it didn't shut down after 4 hours so there is nothing wrong with it. I don't know where to go from here and appreciate any suggestions.

A:Windows XP BSOD happens randomly with same BSOD

While we dont really offer support on XP (nor does/will MS) this one crash was probably caused by an OS file called FTDISK.sys. It is dated 2001 and should probably have been updated when you installed SP-3.

BTW in order to be more specific I need more DMP files. I notice the one is the picture is different than the one you uploaded.

Getting these random BSOD. They occur randomly. I noticed it's during something non-intensive. Like when I am logging out of World of Warcraft, or starting up League of Legends. One BSOD occurred randomly while I was asleep. I usually keep my PC on during the night, not running anything. I woke up to find the Windows has recovered from an unexpected shutdown.

I know BSOD 0x124 is a Overclocking error. I just bumped the voltage up by a tick.

A:4 BSOD in the last 5 days. BSOD randomly.

It is possible that you have reached the limit to which your CPU is capable of. Try backing it down to 4.4GHz. If you are still experiencing crashes/BSODs, especially random ones, then keep lowering the CPU frequency until stability returns. Don't overvolt it.

A:BSOD after restarting following a malwarebytes scan and BSOD after running windows xp repair

System manufacturer and model?

Generally...OEM disks do not allow for a "repair install", only a reversion to factory defaults which the system had when purchased.

All documentation (which I've seen) referring to a repair install of XP...assume that the user has a copy of MS Genuine Windows, not disks provided by an OEM.

I have BSOD only a couple of times other than running the swtor launcher, but that is primarily when it happens and the only way I can reliably reproduce a bsod.

Attached are the dumps, the last 2 dumps were with driver verifier running (crashed upon boot-up)
I can run memtest86 for hours (16+ cycles complete) with no errors, prime95 with no errors, and IntelBurnTest with no problems.
Temperatures are not excessive, I have never gotten above 45C on the cpu or 55C on the mainboard under maximum stress.

I don't know what else to try - Thanks in advance!

A:BSOD Running SWTOR Launcher, followed BSOD Posting instructions

We've seen a number of BSOD issues with SSD's. Here's the information that I've compiled so far:

Quote:
There's not a whole bunch available to test SSD's. The "easiest" test is to remove the SSD, install a platter-based hard drive, install Windows and test for stability that way.

Here's some suggestions:
- Update the SSD's firmware to the latest available version (VERY IMPORTANT!!!)
- Update the motherboard controllers drivers to the latest available version from the controller manufacturer (NOT the mobo manufacturer unless you can't find any on the controller manufacturer's website)
- Slow the memory (RAM) down to the next slower speed (I've only seen one person who claimed that this worked for them).
- Use any manufacturer's utilities that you may have. If you don't have any, then try this free one (I haven't used it myself): Crystal Dew World
- Update chipset and storage controller drivers to the latest available from the manufacturer of the device (not the manufacturer of the motherboard). Be sure to update ALL controllers on the motherboard!
....NOTE: Recently (Nov 2011) we had BSOD issues with the Marvell 91xx controller and an SSD. You may have to switch controllers also.-
Replace the SSD with a platter based hard drive and see if that stops the BSOD's. If it does, then it's likely that there's a problem with the SSD OR an incompatibility with your system.
It's my opinion that SSD's aren't reliable enough (with current hardware) to be used on a system that needs to work reliably. Until I see reliability I will not recommend, nor will I use, SSD's for critical applications.
06 Dec 2011 - This post tends to confirm issues with certain SSD chipsets and certain controllers - [SOLVED] cant find the cause of BSOD F4 - Tech Support Forum
29 May 2012 - The frequency of BSOD's with SSD's seems to have been decreasing over the last several months. It may be approaching time to re-evaluate my stand on their suitability for use in production systems.

ATI HDMI Audio is disabled. Is this deliberate? If so, why?
Please re-enable it, update the drivers, then disable it again if so desired.

I strongly suspect your Razer device - and it may even be hardware related. So update the Razer drivers. If that doesn't fix it, then uninstall the software and physically remove the device from your system.

You have 2 versions of AMD Overdrive installed. Please make sure that they are both removed. Here's my suggestions:

Quote:
AMD OverDrive (AODDriver2.sys) is either a stand-alone application, or a component of the AMD VISION Engine Control Center. This driver is known to cause BSOD's on some Win7 systems.

Quote:
Please uninstall all AMD/ATI video stuff from Control Panel...Programs...Uninstall a program
Then, download (but DO NOT install) a fresh copy of the ATI drivers from Global Provider of Innovative Graphics, Processors and Media Solutions | AMD (in the upper right corner of the page)
Use this procedure to install the DRIVER ONLY: ATI video cards - DRIVER ONLY installation procedure

If the device (AODDriver or AODDriver4.01) remains a problem, open Device Manager, select the "View" item.
Then select "Show hidden devices" and scroll down to the Non-Plug and Play Drivers section.
Locate the AODDriver entry, right click on it and select "Uninstall". Reboot for changes to take affect.

Sometimes the driver remains and continues to cause BSOD's. If this is the case for you, post back and we'll give further instructions for safely removing it.

If overclocking, please stop. Remove the overclock and return the system to stock/standard values while we're troubleshooting. Once the system is stable again, feel free to resume the overclocking.

Gigabyte's EasyTune6 and Gigabyte's EasySaver are known to cause BSOD's with some Win7 systems - please uninstall them immediately!

Boot off of the Windows Disc Or download the Recovery Console ISO. Burn it to CD with IMGBurn Boot off of the CD and get to the Recovery Console. Here type chkdsk /R and press enter. The Check Disk utility will try and fix any file errors.
You can also download the ISO image for Seatools, or WD DataLifeGuardin my signature and burn the image to a CD using IMGBurn also in my signature and boot off of the newly created CD and run the Quick and Advanced tests on the HDD to test the integrity of the drive.

Hi, I'm new here so go easy on me. I just finished putting together a custom build and was having a couple of bsod's here and there, mostly while gaming. Usually my video card driver stops working, then starts again, then big bad bsod happens. It has also happened after a restart and launching firefox. I am hoping one of you guys could give me a hand.

here are the 3 bsod's that happened right after another with the first happening while playing gta4.

thank you so much for any help

after doing a little more research, I've discovered there is quite the problem with windows 7 64-bit and my 5770. Just my luck

Welcome to SF!

If you haven't played around with different drivers for your graphics card yet, do so.

You may also run a memory test. Download a copy of Memtest86 and burn the ISO to a CD using Iso Recorder. Boot from the CD, and run at least 5 passes.

It seems to be when i get home after the computer has been sitting for a good amount of time.

I have had it happen once while i was using the PC to install a program.

But for the most part it is at the Logon screen when i return home and when i sigin it tells me it has recovered from a serious error.

I have done system scans, defrags, disk checks, virus scans, hijackthis, the whole 9.

Everything checks out. I have NOT updated my BIOS, but HAVE updated the sound card and video card.

Can't think of anything else.

Check out the dmp and let me know what you guys think.

Thanks in advance!

Hi Rorschach,

Your problems appear to be hardware [& memory] related. Chrome may also be involved.

I suggest that you do the following -
1. Run a system file check to verify and repair your system files.
Go to search - right click to run as Administrator - type in sfc /scannow.
[Make sure you have a space between sfc and / ]
2.Download memtestx86 and run for at least 5 passes
3.Update the old drivers.[from 2005 & up.]
4.Uninstall Chrome.

Please let us know how it goes.
Thanks Jan.

Several issues
Asacpi.sys

The pre 2009 version of this driver is a known bsod cause.

Quote:
Please visit this link: Asus tek computer inc. -support- drivers and download p7p55d le

ASUSTeK Computer Inc. -Support- Drivers and Download P7P55D LE
ASUSTeK Computer Inc. - Motherboards- ASUS P5K-VM

Scroll down to the utilities category, then scroll down to the "atk0110 driver for windowsxp/vista/windows 7 32&64-bit" (it's about the 12th item down).

Download and install it.

Go to c:\windows\system32\drivers to check and make sure that the asacpi.sys file is date stamped from 2009 or 2010 (notbefore).

Second, your AVG

I notice your AVG which is often at least a contributing cause of BSOD'S . Please remove and replace your AVG with Microsoft Security Essentials AT LEAST TO TEST

Download tools and utilities | AVG Worldwide

Microsoft Security Essentials - Free Antivirus for Windows

After you fix those two we can (if you still are having BSODS) find the true cause.

I've been getting random crashes and I have not been able to find any pattern The way the crashes work is this The computer doesn't go straight to a BSOD The first thing I usually notice is the internet stops working Webpages seem to make an attempt to refresh but never actually will load It Randomly BSOD also becomes impossible to open BSOD Randomly new windows Eventually I can't close windows or programs Then finally it just freezes I usually restart when I BSOD Randomly notice webpages stop loading because I know what is going to happen These crashes don't seem to happen during anything specifically but they do seem to be happening more frequently so it's becoming more of an annoyance I've attached the folder from the DM Log Collector as well as some files from the event viewer If these don't help any or more information is needed feel free to let me know I know some will probably say reformat but unfortunately as annoying as that is it's just more of a pain for me to reinstall all the programs I have so I'll just continue to deal with it if that's the only solution I appreciate any help Thanks Caleb

Please upload your msinfo32.nfo file. To get this:
Click on the Start
Type msinfo32 into the Search programs and files box
When it opens, go to File, Save
Save as msinfo32.nfo and save in a place you will remember
Let it finish the process of gathering and saving the system info
Right click the .nfo file, click send to compressed (zipped) folder
Upload the .zip file here.

You need to enable driver verifier cause your dump does not give a definite cause:

Driver Verifier

Quote:
I'd suggest that you first backup your data and then make sure you've got access to another computer so you can contact us if problems arise. Then make a System Restore point (so you can restore the system using the Vista/Windows 7 Startup Repair feature).

In Windows 7 you can make a Startup Repair disk by going to Start....All Programs...Maintenance...Create a System Repair Disc - with Windows Vista you'll have to use your installation disk or the "Repair your computer" option at the top of the Safe Mode menu .

Then, here's the procedure:
- Go to Start and type in verifier and press Enter
- Select Create custom settings (for code developers) and click Next
- Select Select individual settings from a full list and click Next
- Select everything EXCEPT FOR Low Resource Simulation and click Next
- Select Select driver names from a list and click Next
Then select all drivers NOT provided by Microsoft and click Next
- Select Finish on the next page.

Reboot the system and wait for it to crash to the Blue Screen. Continue to use your system normally, and if you know what causes the crash, do that repeatedly. The objective here is to get the system to crash because Driver Verifier is stressing the drivers out. If it doesn't crash for you, then let it run for at least 36 hours of continuous operation (an estimate on my part).

If you can't get into Windows because it crashes too soon, try it in Safe Mode.
If you can't get into Safe Mode, try using System Restore from your installation DVD to set the system back to the previous restore point that you created.
Driver Verifier - Enable and Disable

Verifier puts extreme stress on the drivers, bad ones will cause BSOD. If we change all those drivers we hope for no more BSODs, If you get no BSODs, then its not a driver and we look to hardware. With verifier on your computer may be a little laggy, but actually..its just doing its work.

Information
Driver Verifier runs in the background, "testing" drivers for bugs. If it finds one, a Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) will result; the corresponding dump file will hopefully show the faulty driver.

A:BSOD randomly.

Hi JoshBoi,

Welcome to the 10forums.

Please remove / disable items from the startup in taskmanager
These programs could interfere with the boot process giving you trouble and increase the boot time.

The 0xD1 has a write error, meaning a driver tried to write data to the memory

Code:
DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL (d1)
An attempt was made to access a pageable (or completely invalid) address at an
interrupt request level (IRQL) that is too high. This is usually
caused by drivers using improper addresses.
If kernel debugger is available get stack backtrace.
Arguments:
Arg1: ffffe00100177808, memory referenced
Arg2: 0000000000000002, IRQL
Arg3: 0000000000000001, value 0 = read operation, 1 = write operation
Arg4: fffff80127d3a294, address which referenced memory
The blamed driver is a Windows driver, which is network related.
This indicates a network related crash

Code:

Another 0xD1 looks a little like the latest 0xD1, except that it is caused by the graphics part.
This crash is likely a hardware problem

Code:

Another crash is a 0x1A which has its usual causes the memory and drivers, but Google Chrome is active at the moment.
Google Chrome is currently a known program for causing various crashes.

At first I thought the ram was the issue however I have run memtest multiple times and it never finds any issues. Just random crashing during any activity esp gaming. I run a lot of programs from a 1tb external drive always plugged into my laptop. At some point I ran chkdsk -f on both drives to fix any issues and for a good while the crashing stopped. 2 weeks go by and its started up again. Chkdsk wont stop it this time and I don't know what else to do. So I have attached my crash information just as the post instructed. Please help me! I have dealt with this problem for 4 months now.

Obvious problem

Please remove any CD virtualization programs such as Daemon Tools and Alcohol 120%.

They use a driver, found in your dmp, sptd.sys, that is notorious for causing BSODs.

Use this SPTD uninstaller DuplexSecure - Downloads

when you're done you can use this Freeware MagicISO Virtual CD/DVD-ROM(MagicDisc) in its place.

Not so obvious your choice of malware and sandbox.

Ok, hello all.

My home pc keeps giving me blue screens. I have attached the minidumps.

They happen randomly. It is not from performing a specific task or running a certain type of program. It just happens randomly. Please if anyone can help, I would appreciate it.

A:PC keeps getting BSOD's randomly

Can't find anything. Run HiJack This, latest version, and give us that log.

The usual causes of intermittent, unpredictable BSOD's are driver errors, inconsistent CPU fans, power supply pauses or dips, too much or too little thermal paste on the heat sink, or unmatched memory modules.
What is the brand and model of your power supply?

Security Software: ??? I recommend the following:Download and install Malwarebytes, update it, do not start the free trial, and then run a full scan. Also run a full scan with your antivirus software installed on your system. If you do not have antivirus software installed, see the Good and Free system security combination. for better security steps and scanning tools. Make sure to update the security software before running the full scan with it.

Malwarebytes by itself is not sufficient to keep your system secure.
Your crashes indicate corruption problems. Could be hard disk issues, Windows corruption, a virus, or Memory issues. If you are overclocking any hardware, please stop.

Run Disk Check with both boxes checked for all HDDs and with Automatically fix file system errors checked for all SSDs. Post back your logs for the checks after finding them using Check Disk (chkdsk) - Read Event Viewer Log.
For any drives that do not give the message:
Windows has checked the file system and found no problems
run disk check again as above. In other words, if it says:
Windows has made corrections to the file system
after running the disk check, run the disk check again.

Run the short and long tests with SeaTools.SeaTools for Windows

SeaTools for DOS
Check Windows for corruption. Run SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker up to three times to fix all errors with a restart in between each. Post back if it continues to show errors after a fourth run or if the first run comes back with no integrity violations. Use OPTION THREE of SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker to provide us with the sfcdetails.txt file if errors occur.

Download and install Malwarebytes, update it, do not start the free trial, and then run a full scan. Also run a full scan with your antivirus software installed on your system. If you do not have antivirus software installed, see the Good and Free system security combination. for better security steps and scanning tools. Make sure to update the security software before running the full scan.

Run the boot version of Memtest86+ paying close attention to Parts 2 and 3 of the tutorial. Also, in case Memtest86+ misses anything and comes up with no errors, run the extended version of the Windows Memory Diagnostics Tool for at least five passes. These you may want to run overnight since they take a long time to complete (run them an hour before bed each of the next two nights and check before going to sleep that they are still running).

   Warning
Before you proceed with the following, answer these two questions: Are you still under warranty? Does your warranty allow you to open up the machine to check hardware? If you are unsure of the answers to these questions, contact your system manufacturer. WARNING: The steps that follow can void your warranty!!!

For Part 3: If You Have Errors: If you swap any memory components, follow these steps for ESD safety:Shut down and turn off your computer.
Unplug all power supplies to the computer (AC Power then battery for laptops, AC power for desktops)
Hold down the power button for 30 seconds to close the circuit and ensure all power drains from components.
Make sure you are grounded by using proper grounding techniques, i.e. work on an anti-static workbench, anti-static desk, or an anti-static pad. Hold something metallic while touching it to the anti-static surface, or use an anti-static wristband to attach to the anti-static material while working. If you do not have an anti-static workbench, desk, or pad, you can use your computer tower/case by finding a metal hold in it, such as a drive bay.
Once these steps have been followed, it is safe to remove and replace components within your computer.

Hey guys.. im new here at the forums and im having a problem that has been bugging me for a while Ive been getting this Random BlueScreen error that just keeps popping up but i believe its returning the same error. I have also been looking for this DumpCHK thing but i cant seem to look for it.. I think its an issue with my hardware cause i did have this one accident a while back when a powered mixer was hooked up wrong and it sent wattage to my computer via USB. My computer lived.. but i think it may have done some really bad damage to the motherboard. But just to make sure, can someone look at this dump file to help me diagnose this. my specs are as follows

ASUS G60 Vx
Windows 7 64bit
Intel Centrino 2 Processor 2.13 GHZ

I had energy problems at home that caused my PC to shutdown 3 or 4 times because energy was cut for couple seconds. When I managed to turn it on and use it, there were some problems that made me restore a backup from a couple days ago. That solved the problem I got, however now I am getting several BSOD errors for no aparent reason, since this never happened to this PC specifically.

I tried to use the SF Diagnostic tool to get you the correct files, but all options failed. So, I ziped the mnidump folder and uploaded. I hope that serves for diagnostic.

A:Getting several BSOD randomly

Hi azinod.

Test your RAM modules for possible errors.
How to Test and Diagnose RAM Issues with Memtest86+
Run memtest for at least 8 passes, preferably overnight.

If it start showing errors/red lines, stop testing. A single error is enough to determine that something is going bad there.

If memtest86+ is free from errors, enable Driver Verifier to monitor the drivers.
Driver Verifier - Enable and Disable
Run Driver Verifier for 24 hours or the occurrence of the next crash, whichever is earlier.

   Information
Why Driver Verifier:
It puts a stress on the drivers, ans so it makes the unstable drivers crash. Hopefully the driver that crashes is recorded in the memory dump.

How Can we know that DV is enabled:
It will make the system bit of slow, laggy.

   Warning
Before enabling DV, make it sure that you have earlier System restore points made in your computer. You can check it easily by using CCleaner looking at Tools > System Restore.

If there is no points, make a System Restore Point manually before enabling DV.

   Tip

If you fail to get on the Desktop because of DV, Boot into Advanced Boot Options > Safe mode. Disable DV there. Now boot normally again, and try following the instruction of enabling DV again.
If you cannot boot in Safe mode too, do a System Restore to a point you made earlier.

Let us know the results, with the subsequent crash dumps, if any. Post it following the Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) Posting Instructions.

Sorry forgot to attach the zip file. I'm using a Acer Timeline laptop with Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit, 4GB ram. My harddisk has got 40 gb of free space left. That should be okay right.

I have problem with BSOD, sometimes it happens some minutes after i turn on my computer, and sometimes some hours after. I`m noticing some bugs happen sometimes, especially with videos on youtube and sometimes when i`m playing games, i think the problem might be the video board, but maybe not (HOPE SO)
I think about reinstall my windows 7, but first i would like to see if i get the reason of the BSOD
