Preferred Solution: BSOD While Torrenting

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Here are my logs, as well as the system specs from CPU-Z.

I have narrowed the problem down to ONLY when I am torrenting - doesn't matter what it is, that's the only time I can reproduce the problem.

What I've done:
- chkdsk on all 5 of my drives, no problems
- memtestx86, ran for 4 hours, no problems
- pulled out 7 hairs , no fixes.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Let me know if anymore details are needed.

Hi,
I'm new in this forum. I'm facing a problem. While downloading via bit comet, I'm getting BSOD several times. It happens randomly, within 2 to 30 minutes after starting bit comet. 3 days ago I changed some settings in my bit comet and it seemed okay. But last night I faced BSOD again. It's getting really annoying. Please help me and thanks in advance.

P.S.- My system specs are below:

Try uninstalling the torrent client and see what happens. You can always reinstall it.

Answers to common security questions - Best Practices   .By Quietman7

File Sharing (P2P), Torrents, Keygens, Cracks, Warez, and Pirated Software are a Security Risk
The practice of using any torrent, file sharing, peer-to-peer (P2P) program (i.e. Limewire, eMule, Kontiki, BitTorrent, BitComet, uTorrent, BitLord, BearShare, Azureus/Vuze, Skype, etc), keygens, hacking tools, cracking tools, warez, or any pirated software is a serious security risk which can turn a computer into a malware honeypot or zombie. File Sharing, Torrents, and Peer-to-Peer (P2P) ProgramsFile sharing networks are thoroughly infested with malware according to security firm Norman ASA and many of them are unsafe to visit or use. The reason for this is that file sharing relies on its members giving and gaining unfettered access to computers across the P2P network. This practice can make you vulnerable to data and identity theft, system infection and remote access exploit by attackers who can take control of your computer without your knowledge.
Quote
Software Cracks: A Great Way to Infect Your PC
...It is almost never safe to download executable programs from peer-to-peer file sharing networks because they are a major source of malware infections.

Even if you change the risky default settings to a safer configuration, downloading files from an anonymous source increases your exposure to infection because the files you are downloading may actually contain a disguised threat. Users visiting such pages may see innocuous-looking banner ads containing code which can trigger pop-up ads and malicious Flash ads that install malware. Many malicious worms and Trojans, such as the Storm Worm, target and spread across P2P files sharing networks because of their known vulnerabilities.
Further some file sharing programs are bundled with other free software you may download (sometimes without the knowledge or consent of the user) and can be the source of various issues and problems to include Adware, and browser hijackers as well as malware.
Even the safest P2P file sharing programs that do not contain bundled spyware, still expose you to risks because of the very nature of the P2P file sharing process. By default, most P2P file sharing programs are configured to automatically launch at startup. They are also configured to allow other P2P users on the same network open access to a shared directory on your computer. The best way to eliminate these risks is to avoid using P2P applications and torrent web sites.

Hello.

This same thread was started in 2013 (http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/512348/bsod-while-torrenting-due-to-netiosys/)

I am having the exact same issue. My machine runs great until I run a torrent client. Then, after anywhere from 5-15 minutes after starting a download, I get a BSOD. The BlueScreenView log reads:

Bug Check String  : DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUALBug Check Code    : 0x000000d1Parameter 1       : 00000000`00000028
Parameter 2       : 00000000`00000002Parameter 3       : 00000000`00000000
Parameter 4       : fffff880`017886fd        (the larger bold portions of this parameter changes from one BSOD to the next. The rest stays constant.)Caused By Driver  : NETIO.SYSCaused By Address : NETIO.SYS+106fdProcessor         : x64Crash Address     : ntoskrnl.exe+76e80

I have attached the most recent Minidump files.

Basically, I think that the culprit is a third party driver which is interacting with the network related system files of Windows. I just dont know how to identify which one that it could be.

Any help on identifying the culprit would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Hi everyone, I bought my Z51 about a month ago and ever since I've been using it, it BSODs ("PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA") while I'm downloading torrents. This seems to happen only while I'm downloading torrents and chrome is open. I've run memtest (no problems) and I've updated my network driver but to no avail. Anyone else with this issue? It steams me that it's a brand new laptop and I'm already experiencing problems with it!

Hi

Please follow the below steps to collect some log files.

Upload the crash dump files.

You can find the crash dump files inside C:\Windows\Minidump folder. Copy all the files located in that folder and zip them to a single file. Disable the "User Account Control" if you encounter a permission error. We need at least a minimum of three dumps to find a pattern. Attach the zipped dump with the next reply. If the file size is larger than 512KB, upload the zipped dumps to a free file hosting site and post the download link to it.

    Example file hosting sites :

    https://www.box.com/

    http://www.mediafire.com/

    http://www.sendspace.com

A Speccy snapshot.

"Speccy" is a free tool which is used to create a report about your system. It will list the make and model of hardware components as well as installed Windows updates, HDD SMART status etc. Please read instructions from the below link and post the web link created by "Speccy" in next reply.

http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/323892/publish-a-snapshot-using-speccy/

Minitoolbox report.

"Minitoolbox" can list all the installed programs as well as event log errors in your system. Download "Minitoolbox" from the below link.

http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/minitoolbox/

Run the tool and only select the following tick boxes.

-List last 10 Event viewer errors
   -List installed programs
   -List devices
-List users, partition and memory size

Now click "Go" and post the output in next reply.

Hi,

I started getting BSODs while torrenting roughly a week ago. The only thing I changed at that point was installing razer synapse drivers which I have since removed. The BSODs happen between 1-3 times a day, at pretty random times. I've uploaded the two most recent dumps, any help would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Hello A few months ago I primarily used the resource of uTorent in order to download a variety of files from the official website of one of my favourite artists Recently however use of the program has caused my computer to crash and burn when I download and or upload anything even when I tried switching to BitTorrent I have no luck in downloading anything without a complete crash While this problem has been discussed before the thread did not help in my attempts to render torrenting applications usable as a result I decided to start this thread in an attempt to solve the problem I am having I thought that the crash was just a quot blip quot in computer use and I did not think much of it at first but as a result I do not have the provided dump on the reboot available I have included a dump as of with multitude applications BSoD torrenting expected from me though because I am quite BSoD with multitude of torrenting applications computer illiterate I do not know if I have done it right Apologies if so I also apologise if I have left something extremely important out That's all

A:BSoD with multitude of torrenting applications

Welcome

The BSOD was caused by older Linksys Wireless-G PCI Adapter Driver. Check for a possible driver update and see if it eliminates the BSOD issues.

Hello wierdo54.

You are having some network blockage. NETIO.sys is the OS element, a networking driver and it is failing here. Such a network blockage may be caused by various reasons. Some of these are:
Backdated Network adapter driver.
Network blockage caused by antivirus programs.
Network blockage caused by a virus.
Moreover, some physical problem in the network adapters may also cause the same, but the chance is comparatively rare.

So let us see these, one by one. At first, we are seeing that you have Multiple Real Time protection programs installed. AVG and McAfee.

Code:
fffff880`011c8000 fffff880`011fc000 avgtdia (deferred)
fffff880`012df000 fffff880`0137a600 mfehidk (deferred)
First of all, using multiple antivirus is worst. It makes you unsecured, and at the same time it causes some other problems, like network blocking. Moreover, McAfee is directly involved in this event.

Code:
fffff880`03562220 fffff880`02e50110Unable to load image \SystemRoot\system32\DRIVERS\mfenlfk.sys, Win32 error 0n2

mfenlfk+0xb110
Uninstall McAfee Using McAfee Removal Tool. Uninstall AVG using AVG Remover. Use Microsoft Security Essentials as your antivirus with windows inbuilt firewall, and free MBAM as the on demand scanner.
Download, install and update those, and then run full system scans with both of them, one by one.

Next, let us check the network adapter drivers.
Intel(R) Centrino(R) Ultimate-N 6300 AGN, it is directly failing here.

Hi!

I have a serious problem with my computer, I've built it around 2 months ago, and i keep getting bsod's at random intervals (sometimes it doesnt happen for several hours, sometimes it happens 5 times in a minute). I am sure, that the problem is not caused by overheating, my cpu, motherboard, and gpu temperature is between 45-50 ?C when it crashes. I've read that overclocking can cause this issue (my videocard is usually a bit overclocked) but it crashed even when my video card wasn't overclocked.
As I looked at the crashes, there wasn't any pattern, I mean it is not only when I play video games, its kind of a random thing.
I have collected the memory dump files, I hope those help.

Thank you!

(I am hungarian, and there may be some hungarian text in the logs, I hope it isn't much of a problem)

Hey there users of Sevenforums I'm currently having an infuriating issue with my computer As of late I've searched for a cause to no avail I've been having a rather nasty and annoying issue with my computer As soon as I open up uTorrent a torrenting application and begin to seed or download anything using BSOD whilst application. NETIO.SYS torrenting a the majority of which is Adventure Time if that helps at all and it downloads uploads for a minute to minutes I'll get a BSOD saying something about quot NETIO SYS quot My limited Google-fu has yielded nothing other than NETIO.SYS BSOD whilst using a torrenting application. that my AV may be at fault but it was uninstalled and the issue persisted ALL of my drivers are currently as up to date as is humanly possible without the use of a time machine My install is currently quite small as I'm not wanting to make my old as hell Vertex 's too angry I don't have many intrusive applications installed either I have attached my dmp file I hope that it's the correct file to upload Any and all help is greatly appreciated as this is really frustrating

Hello, I just bought an Asus Laptop, and ever since I bought it, it?s been having the same issue, BSOD PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA, but it only happens while torrenting.

At first, I thought it was faulty RAM, so I asked for a new PC (same model) on the store I bought it, but on this new PC it happened again, and it?s the same thing, only while torrenting. So, I can discard RAM issues, it can?t be faulty RAM on both machines.

Can anyone help me solve this problem?

Thanks in advance.

I already tried updating my network drivers, turned off windows' firewall and I'm using no antivirus.
I have attached the BSOD memory dump thing and the SF Diagnostic Tool logs.

EDIT: I can't seem to upload my Kernel Memory dump, I'll try to force another BSOD and upload a mini dump instead. Sorry.

My laptop originally came with Vista 64 but a few months ago I installed Windows 7 32 bit (64 would not run for some reason). Since then I've been getting a BSOD pretty consistently when torrenting, or randomly when using either Chrome or IE--Firefox seems to work fine. I suspect the problem might stem from bad/outdated network drivers, but I really have no idea how to interpret the dump files, and if that is the case, how to go about finding good drivers. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Non-copyrighted material as well as public domain material IS legal to torrent no matter where you get the torrent file from. The same goes for publicly shared Linux distributions and such.

Hello Everyone I have Windows Pro on my HP Notebook usually it is a machine good enough for my day to day usage and hardly causes any trouble Even though I love The Eater of Torrenting used! RAM causing being all RAM i e Google Chrome as my favorite web browser I never have any performance issues and GB RAM seems enough to handle it all nicely But problem occurs when I am using Torrent Client I use torrent every now and then usually for larger files in GBs Well normally no matter how large a torrent as a whole or average file in it It doesn't Torrenting causing all RAM being used! makes an issue But I use am using VPN and then use torrent client Somehow my computer starts consuming the RAM gradually it'll eat it all my notebook will stop responding and then I will have to force Torrenting causing all RAM being used! it off Torrenting causing all RAM being used! by keeping the power button pressed and then on again One thing I do is I keep an eye on RAM usage when it close to be eaten up I stop everything and restart my computer and let it do its thing again in the loop Sometimes in Computer is nothing but a VPN Client and a Torrent client running and gradually it eats up all RAM and make the System unresponsive RAM is not consumed right away but gradually like it takes about - minutes per GB to consumed If I exit my Torrent client just before all RAM is consumed RAM usage gradually starts decreasing but rather slowly like - minutes per GB I don't understand why is it so - If I use computer normally never any issue - If I use VPN and whatever except Torrent no problem - If I use torrent for normal things without using VPN no problem - If I use torrent for some not normal stuff and use VPN for safety it causes problem - I tried different Torrent clients same result - Dedicated VPN client from my VPN Service provider - I tried different VPN clients OpenVPN same result - Why is it so Right now my VPN Client runs on subject machine which is connected to Router via wifi Although I have the idea to use another Router or something in between with built in VPN client so that VPN client will not be running on subject machine Perhaps that might resolve the issue But right now I am troubled Any help is greatly appreciated

I want to download OpenSUSE 10.3 x86 (An awesome Linux distro) to avoid x86/x64 conflicts (I know I can get around this, but I'm too lazy), but my connection is too slow to download it all at one time. Plus, I am a gamer, so I need my internet connection. The reason I want to use a torrent is I can pause/resume it when I like.

So, will torrenting the 4.1 Gig .iso be bad for my hardware?

A:Is torrenting bad for my network hardware?

Nah. Then having a lan party would be bad as well. I think its a safe bet it would do no more harm than playing on the intenet

Alright, when I use Bittorent to download a file I get around 2.5mb/sec.

When I download a file from Internet from my browser I get like 300kb/sec max.
Sometimes it even stays at like 5kb/sec and won't go up.

I tried all the browser and all download managers, I think it might be a problem in my network configuration.

I have a Linksys WRT54G Router, and I have access to the settings page.

Hello again fellow seveners, Im still having trouble with connecting to VPN's in particular to the company "private internet access" when torrenting. I used different software recommended by the PIA. Basically a few minutes-hours after launching the VPN while torrenting (which is allowed), the local area connection says it has no network access. Attempting to restart the software adapter doesnt go anywhere and rebooting safely leaves the pc stuck at switching off screen. Can anyone please help me out? I use an ASRock-Z77 Extreme4 motherboard. many thanks!

A:Using any software to connect to PIA while torrenting kills the LAC

I have uninstalled any vpn software. My computer lasts longer till the local area connection fails. Still cant enable the local adapter once its disabled.

Lately, for some reason, my internet browsing and downloading is incredibly slow. Browsing pages is slow, youtube videos load so slow, and downloading from servers is slow, about 12kbps max. However, I know for a fact that I can achieve torrent speeds of up to 150kbps easily. And my browsing didn't use to be this slow, it's a massive decline from what it used to be.

I'm currently using a wireless router, netgear DG834G v3, and using optusnet DSL connection.

Another problem is that everytime someone calls, my internet cuts out and reconnects immediately, and I hear it may be because we have a wireless phone in the next room.

I'd really appreciate some help and if you need any more info or system specs let me know.

Hey there forums, i am really confused on this. So another user on my network is torrenting a gigabyte file at a rate of 500kb/s, and we have 50mb/s internet. So when another user is torrenting, it seems like the internet is slowing down massivley, when i am playing video games, (LoL and MS) the ping skyrockets from around 20ping to 100ping, i have tested this enough to know that it is not a coincidence. Is there a reason that everything slows down when something is being torrented?

A:Torrenting at 500kb/s means the whole network is slow

If you image it as a small room of air, When one person is in the room it is fine (that is you playing your game) but, now if we put 10 people in a room that air started to run out. (this is what happens when you are torrenting legal files.)

A:Frequent Blue Screens, Possibly From Torrenting.

Hi.

Take memtest. Run for 8 passes and test each stick in a know good slot for an additional 6 passes.
RAM - Test with Memtest86+

Quote:
The goal is to test all the RAM sticks and all the motherboard slots.

Check your motherboard manual to ensure the RAM sticks are in the recommended motherboard slots. Some motherboards have very specific slots required for the number of RAM sticks installed.

If you get errors, stop the test and continue with the next step.

1. Remove all but one stick of RAM from your computer (this will be RAM stick #1), and run Memtest86 again, for 7 passes. *Be sure to note the RAM stick, use a piece of tape with a number, and note the motherboard slot.
If this stick passes the test then go to step #3.

2. If RAM stick #1 has errors, repeat the test with RAM stick #2 in the same motherboard slot. *If RAM stick #2 passes, this indicates that RAM stick #1 may be bad. If you want to be absolutely sure, re-test RAM stick #1 in another known good slot.
*If RAM stick #2 has errors, this indicates another possible bad RAM stick, a possible motherboard slot failure or inadequate settings.
3. Test the next stick of RAM (stick #2) in the next motherboard slot. *If this RAM stick has errors repeat step #2 using a known good stick if possible, or another stick.
*If this RAM stick has no errors and both sticks failed in slot#1, test RAM stick #1 in this slot.
4. If you find a stick that passes the test, test it in all the other motherboard slots.

If Part 2 testing shows errors, and all tests in Part 3 show errors, you will need to test the RAM sticks in another computer and/or test other RAM in your computer to identify the problem.

In this way, you can identify whether it is a bad stick of RAM, a bad motherboard, or incompatibility between the sticks.

   Information
Errors are sometimes found after 8 passes.

   Tip
Do this test overnight, before going to bed.

Anti-virus software can be a great help to keep viruses and malware at bay but AVG downloaders Torrenting habits AVG monitors heavy advise to takes its responsibilities a bit further Avid BitTorrent users who download files at near-maximum speeds get a friendly reminder from AVG explaining that they may want to pause their downloads to improve web browsing In recent years anti-piracy vendors have shown a keen interest in file-sharing and online piracy issues Symantec for example has developed a technology that allows it to spot fake torrents and malware before they re downloaded On the other hand rival McAfee have taken an anti-piracy approach by AVG monitors Torrenting habits to advise heavy downloaders inventing a system that can detect and block pirated material from any website and present users with authorized and legal alternatives instead This week we learned that AVG another major player in the anti-virus business is keeping an eye on BitTorrent traffic as well Not to detect intruders or stop piracy but to give users some friendly advice BitTorrent traffic can chew up a lot of bandwidth and cripple one s local network especially with badly configured clients This can slow down web browsing to a crawl something AVG is alerting its users to The following alert pops up for some BitTorrent users In this case related to traffic generated by uTorrent but it may appear for other clients as well Hey torrenter While not everyone may like the fact that their anti-virus software has begun commenting on their torrenting habits the advice may be useful to some As far as we know AVG is not looking at what people download just the network load generated by the application Those who want to get rid of the notifications can tick the AVG Advisor Notification box in the software settings Source nbsp

Hey guys! I hope you can help me, I am getting desperate ! 2 weeks ago I got infected with a file encrypting-virus, so I gave someone my PC to clean it,format it and reinstall my windows. And now I am stuck with another problem which I used to have in the past but someone else (I don't know how) fixed it for me. No matter the size of the torrent, my PC freezes while downloading in the first 10 secs. I uninstaleed my AV, I turned my indexing off. When it freezes, in task manager-proceses, utorrent gets a value almost to 100, as well as the PC usage. And today I got a new error during the freeze, " display driver stopped responding and has recovered" . And I noticed that in safe mode this display driver isn't enabled. Do you think it has anything to do with it? Please help me! Thank you!

I'm new to this forum.
I need some help with my pc. I do not know how I am getting this blue screen but it just happens.Just formatted my computer. It says NETIO.SYS, DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
The Blue screen occurs randomly while torrenting.  It could be anywhere from 10 minutes to an hour.
Help will be highly appreciated
Thank you.

A:Blue screen popup while torrenting with newly formatted windows

That error IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL is caused by a driver problem.  It highlights NETIO.SYS which makes me wonder about your network driver in particular.  If you got it from anywhere other than your computer or motherboard manufacturer, that's a possible cause.

Good luck.

A:BSOD Plannetside 2 (steam) black screen> reboot> BSOD crash report

A stop 0x116 is a display/graphics related issue. Many a factors or components may cause such a BSOD.

First of all, it is the display driver. From your BSOD dumps, I have noticed that it crashed the same irrespective of the driver version over time. So overlooking this part right now. Will concentrate it on later again, if needed.

Next thing is overclocking, which sometimes lead display to crash. And, you are slightly overclocked.

Code:
CPUID: "Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-2600 CPU @ 3.40GHz"
MaxSpeed: 3400
CurrentSpeed: 3411
As the system is crashing, you should stop overclocking. Set all the hardware elements like CPU, GPU and RAM to default; and reset the BIOS to default too.
How To Clear CMOS (Reset BIOS)

Heat is another factor. Is the computer hot? Report us the heat of the computer after a couple of hours of your normal usage. Upload a screenshot of the summery tab of Speccy.

Also, dust accumulation causes heat, and dust accumulation depends on the age of the system. How old the system is? If possible, dismantle it and clean the inside carefully .... specially the air vents and fan grills, so that it can blow the hot air out easily.
Dont forget to apply thermal paste to the CPU when re-seating the system.

Insufficient power supply is also a great cause of display crash. Check if the CPU is supplying adequate power there or not.

It GPU itself may not perform upto the mark. Stress test the Graphics Card using Furmark.

Hello, so i think i have dealt with this bluescreen 3times now, and it seemed to have gone away after i went from my amd system to intel. But now its there again. The most useful function ever, wake from sleep, is now bluescreening my computer. I instantly tried to use the Disply Driver Uninstaller because thats how i solved this before, but no luck... So please, could anyone help me out? I have the dmp file too. (apparantly this support forum does not allow for dmp file uploads.... well..

After BSOD problems (0x00000050), I took my two month old Dell desktop back to Geek Squad under warranty. Said problem wasn't hardware, but software, and would charge to fix. I took it home and reinstalled Win 7. BSOD (0x0000007b) with a Dell installation CD, but otherwise fine except it keeps restarting itself at various intervals. When I tried installing drivers, it wouldn't recognize Ethernet card. Not sure what's going on. Wife thinks a no-name anti-virus CD will fix it all, but I'd appreciate your advice.

Around the th of March I was playing Smite, BCC116 atikmpag.sys & playing BSOD mentions BCC117, BSOD Smite joined a match and about half way through it I received a freeze then a BSOD This continued to happen randomly when I would play a smite match ranging from every to matches could happen near the beginning or in the middle of the game So I wouldn't ruin more games for others I attempted to fix the problem myself looking up that I had to update my GPU drivers which I do now have or uninstall them to let my pc auto install the suitable one This ended up with my PC or Radeon hardware detector not detecting the GPU so I had to system restore I also tried cleaning out my PC rig BSOD playing Smite, BCC116 & BCC117, BSOD mentions atikmpag.sys with a duster to see if my bad PC hygiene had caused heating problems but it had no affect I have used malware-bytes to detect malware and viruses but all that was quarantined seems to have had no affect I tried these solutions that I see everywhere when I search but obviously they didn't work So instead of finding a solution I attempted to find more symptoms I found that within the blue screen it mentions atikmpag sys I see that my PC problem reports tell me that I have a lot of Windows shutting down and Video hardware errors With the BCC codes BCC and BCC respectivly I also attempted to see if I would gain the BSOD by testing on more strenuous games and didn't gain any BSOD whilst playing Dark Souls and Batman Arkham Knight thus so far I have concluded that this BSOD seems Smite specific though this could do with some further testing So now I have given up in attempting to fix it by my self and have joined the Sevenforums in an attempt to fix this problem and get back to the game I enjoy I hope I have successfully attached the zip file correctly but if I haven't or some other files are needed or if I haven't applied a forum rule by accident please mention it To test whether a solution has worked or not I will have to play many smite matches so it may take a while before whether I can reply confirm whether the BSODs are gone or not

Hi All,

I'm an experience computer user working in technical support and system administration in linux environment.

This issue has me stumped.

My pc is refusing to boot, it will throw a BSOD moments after hitting the loading windows screen.

Start up recovery prompts to system restore, once this is complete it restarts with the same effect.

Repairing from the windows system disk has the same effect.

When booting into safe mode, the system will BSOD when loading aswRvrt.sys.

All BSODs happen too fast to read anything, not dumping physical memory.

This all started happening after a seemingly random BSOD which happened last night.

The only change to the system that I effected was installing a newsgroup reader this was done several hours before the first BSOD.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

I have been getting a ton of bsods I have re installed video drivers, updated and reinstalled windows 8. Did countless hardware test(Video ram, check memory, Cpu test) all passed temperatures stay around 25-35 c.
Recently uninstalled all video drivers and re installed. The bsods sometimes go away for a week or two but come back. and sometimes when it bsods there is a static noise inside of the computer, and the blue screen becomes distorted
Ive attached the dump files, if someone could help me pinpoint the piece of hardware so I can ship it out for repair please.

Counterfeit installations such as yours contains heavily modified code that causes the installation to behave it unexpected ways. Analysing BSOD's and determining their causes on these sorts of installations is very unreliable.

My recommendation is to start with a clean slate, and install a genuine version of Windows. This will minimise the problems you are experiencing, and make subsequent diagnosis of BSOD's far more reliable.

This normally happens when I first start using the computer for the day. Sometimes when it happens there is a sound to it when it freezes but not always. Once the computer is going good for around 15-20mins then it no longer happens until the next reboot.

There doesn't seem to be an update from Gateway either.

Let's try uninstalling that driver and let windows install a WHQL driver,

How-To Uninstall AMD Catalyst Drivers From A Windows Based System

After uninstalling from programs and features,

1. Go to Device Manager and expand Display Adapters.

2. Right click on your adapter and choose properties.

3. Select the Driver tab and choose uninstall.

4. When finished, reboot the computer and let Windows install the available WHQL driver.

I have a relatively new computer that I've built and I've been getting BSOD's for a while.

At first I thought it was because the pagefile was disabled, but that was just why they weren't getting logged to MiniDump. Then I got it enabled again and now I'm getting a lot of BSODs. It's been 0x3b ntoskrnl exe lately, but when I enabled driver verifier I was getting a different BSOD on each boot.

One of them specifically mentioned a .sys that I can't exactly remember. it was XXhalp.sys or something, and when I Googled it - everyone was talking about deleting monitor profiles from the registry and that somehow old monitor profiles were causing the BSODs, so I donno about that.

I would appreciate any help you can offer. I'll be actively monitoring this (and I'm currently in safe mode with driver verifier still enabled). So just let me know what you need.

Thanks,

Pseudo

Hello So first of all I am not a computer wizard Some terms I might not understand as i've never had a problem like this before but i'll try to enlist as much information as possible Since last friday or so i've suddenly encountered a BSOD Now i've had them before and it was only once After a reboot it usually never happend again and everything was cool But since friday they popped up again Mainly during playing Battlefield but i've also had it happen during Dragon Ball Xenoverse I've had multiple BSOD errors which are - IRQL NOT LESS OR EQUAL - BAD POOL HEADER - MEMORY MANAGEMENT - SYSTEM SERVICE EXCEPTION - APC INDEX MISMATCH Now if it were one I might've been able to pinpoint the issue but They're constantly different errors that happen Now to explain a bit more in detail how it goes So i'm just playing a match of Battlefield After minutes give or take it'll bring me to the multiple inside listed BSOD so playing games, far errors, BSOD 5 blue screen After processing whatever it has to process computer shuts down and it starts to restart At this point it will be stuck in an infinite restart loop where my monitor will not display anything as well It just says it's not connected to something which it clearly is After manually closing and rebooting i'll have to do this a few times or mess with the HDMI a little bit before I get my monitor to pop up again Once that happens I get stuck in the beginning screen where you can see your HDD SSD installed It won't go further than that unless I hit F There have been times where I had to go into BIOS and revert it to default settings as well even though I never change a thing in there but it worked Then it reboots back up as usual Very rarely i'll get an instant BSOD when it logged in but that only happens rarely Now the solutions i've been trying - Deleted graphics drivers all of them and reinstalled them Did not work - BSOD playing games, so far 5 multiple BSOD errors, listed inside Out of frustration reinstalled Windows Did not fix anything - Brought him in to a shop The BSOD's never appeared there and seemingly there's nothing wrong within the system according to him - Went BSOD playing games, so far 5 multiple BSOD errors, listed inside to my parents house to test there since I do not have a car Played games there no BSOD I BSOD playing games, so far 5 multiple BSOD errors, listed inside got the hope that maybe it was fixed but then I returned home tried it out and after or so minutes of playing Battlefield BSOD This time it gave me the IRQL NOT LESS OR EQUAL amp BAD POOL HEADER errors I've even been paranoid enough to think that it might be external hardware that is causing it Like my headset or speakers or SOMETHING that was different when I brought it to the shop or when I was home at my parents house Is that even possible It's good to know that i've had my current video card since release of the GTX and it never caused any sort of problem before Here are two dump errors I cannot show the others as they occured before I reinstalled Win so I do not have those dump files anymore but here are two of the most recent ones In case system specs are needed System Spec Computer type PC Desktop OS Windows x CPU Intel Core i GHz Motherboard Alienware JNH CPU Memory GB DDR MHz Graphics Card s MB NVIDIA GeForce GTX MSI I'm pretty desperate at this moment so any help would be greatly appreciated Thanks for the read

Using which tool/software? You should run Memtes86+ for at least 7 Passes (Test each RAM stick individually)
RAM - Test with Memtest86+
Your BSODs are RAM/Memory related, rest your RAM settings to their default values in your BIOS. Stop any overclocking if any.

Run Prime 95 to test your CPU. Carefully the instructions in this tutorial: CPU - Stress Test with Prime95. Run 3 separate tests, one on each of the settings (Blend, Small FFTs, Large FFTs). Post back with your results.
Note that this test may overheat the CPU, ensure proper cooling.

Post back with your results.

Hi,

All of the attached DMP files are of the SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION (3b)bug check.

This indicates that an exception happened while executing a routine that transitions from non-privileged code to privileged code.

This error has been linked to excessive paged pool usage and may occur due to user-mode graphics drivers crossing over and passing bad data to the kernel code.

2. Uninstall Spyhunter ASAP from Enigma Software as it's likely causing conflicts with Malwarebytes.

3. Ensure you have the latest video card drivers. If you are already on the latest video card drivers, uninstall and install a version or a few versions behind the latest to ensure it's not a latest driver only issue. If you have already experimented with the latest video card driver and many previous versions, please give the beta driver for your card a try.

4. sptd.sys is listed and loaded in your modules list; SCSI Pass Through Direct Host - Daemon Tools (known BSOD issues with Win 7 and 8). Please remove it ASAP with the uninstaller tool - DuplexSecure - Downloads

A:Bsod 0xa3 And 0x8e - Unusual/unclear Picture And Random Bsod

0x8e errors are usually caused by driver issues. Here is what Microsoft says regarding 0xa3 errors:An inconsistency in the ACPI driver is so severe that continuing to run would cause serious problems. One possible source of this problem is a BIOS error.Drivers and Windows interacts with the BIOS. Have you tried a BIOS update? Usually this is not recommended as it can cause serious issues if the update is not performed correctly, but is recommended when the BIOS is suspected to be the cause of an issue such as this.EDIT: all you see on the screen is black with blue spots all over.I just remembered having an issue like this, and it was corrected by simply reseating the video card. Just thought I would mention this.

A:BSOD after restarting following a malwarebytes scan and BSOD after running windows xp repair

System manufacturer and model?

Generally...OEM disks do not allow for a "repair install", only a reversion to factory defaults which the system had when purchased.

All documentation (which I've seen) referring to a repair install of XP...assume that the user has a copy of MS Genuine Windows, not disks provided by an OEM.

Hi,

My computer has been unstable for quite some time and after memory tests, changing graphics cards, many driver variations and a couple of fresh OS installs a while ago it is still not stable.

The difficulty is that it doesn't seem to be triggered by anything specific so it makes debugging really difficult... sometimes it crashes twice a day then not for another week or two.

Please help me shed some light on how this could be resolved as I am considering stripping the PC down to its components, selling them and buying a pre-built system instead.

Thanks
Henry

I installed an antivirus program and Adobe Acrobat on Win 7 64 bit ultimate. It requested a system restart. Upon restart, I had a BSOD immediately after the Windows 7 splash screen (before Win requests my user password). Upon BSOD, it auto-restarted my PC and automatically brought me in to Windows repair. After waiting 45 minutes and seeing Windows repair wasn't doing anything, I just turned off and turned on my PC. I got another BSOD. Then, I rebooted again, and it was able to load into Windows.

I've attached my dump file. Any what's causing this and how I can fix?

Thanks.

SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED_M (1000007e)
This is a very common bugcheck. Usually the exception address pinpoints
the driver/function that caused the problem. Always note this address
as well as the link date of the driver/image that contains this address.
Some common problems are exception code 0x80000003. This means a hard
coded breakpoint or assertion was hit, but this system was booted
/NODEBUG. This is not supposed to happen as developers should never have
hardcoded breakpoints in retail code, but ...
If this happens, make sure a debugger gets connected, and the
system is booted /DEBUG. This will let us see why this breakpoint is
happening.
Arguments:

Here's the clif notes: Got a brand new (not refurb) lenovo desktop. win 7 62 bit - blue screen all the time, random times. I'm not a gamer, i had very little installed.

Took a picture, called support with the code, they sent a guy out and he replaced my motherboard. All seemed good - for a few hours. Got two new bsod. Attached are the 2 recent minidumps and a screenshot of my specs, and that other file requested.

Hope you guys can help. I am still under warrantee and can probably raise hell and get another new machine, but it's been 3 weeks and I just want to use the thing

Thanks

Hello, welcome to SevenForums!

Nothing shown as far as processes go, and you have a 109* critical structure corruption bugcheck for one of the two dumps, so it's most likely hardware related, usually memory of hard drive.

I would recommend running Memtest to ensure your memory isn't faulty.

Check your hard drive for any errors as well with chkdsk:

Open the "Computer" window
Right-click on the drive in question
Select the "Tools" tab
In the Error-checking area, click <Check Now>.

Boot off of the Windows Disc Or download the Recovery Console ISO. Burn it to CD with IMGBurn Boot off of the CD and get to the Recovery Console. Here type chkdsk /R and press enter. The Check Disk utility will try and fix any file errors.
You can also download the ISO image for Seatools, or WD DataLifeGuardin my signature and burn the image to a CD using IMGBurn also in my signature and boot off of the newly created CD and run the Quick and Advanced tests on the HDD to test the integrity of the drive.

I've tried to set up a Driver Verifier mini dump but when I activate it it makes a bluescreen when I come back. I follow the instructions to then go back to my system restore point but when I do it then removes the dump file. My assumption is that now I want for another natural BSOD and then upload that dump? Or should I redo the Driver Verifier and in safe mode upload the dump files?

The system just bsod while watching video on chrome. The bluescreen was locked with a sound repeated in background. It did not restart itself as is normal.

I have recently updated my video drivers and I believe all other drivers to be current. I recently ran memtest 86+ for 7 full passes with no errors, but it could still be the memory as the modules are new(about a month).

Ignore the old minidumps as they are the result of tweaking/overclocking my system. The dump of interest is from today and is attached separately from jcgriff.

My system is the same as in my user profile.

Win 7Ultimate 64bit.
Microsoft security essentials and Malwarebytes are used for realtime protection and scanning.

This is the first non OCing bsod I've had on my rig in a long time,

Please help

Unfortunately the most recent was inconclusive. We can do some testing while waiting for the next one. Most often it is memory or driver related.

Please run these two tests.

1-Memtest.

*Download a copy of Memtest86 and burn the ISO to a CD using Iso Recorder or another ISO burning program. Memtest86+ - Advanced Memory Diagnostic Tool

*Boot from the CD, and leave it running for at least 5 or 6 passes.

Just remember, any time Memtest reports errors, it can be either bad RAM or a bad motherboard slot.

Test the sticks individually, and if you find a good one, test it in all slots.

RAM - Test with Memtest86+

2-Driver verifier

I'd suggest that you first backup your data and then make sure you've got access to another computer so you can contact us if problems arise. Then make a System Restore point (so you can restore the system using the Vista/Win7 Startup Repair feature).

In Windows 7 you can make a Startup Repair disk by going to Start....All Programs...Maintenance...Create a System Repair Disc - with Windows Vista you'll have to use your installation disk or the "Repair your computer" option at the top of the Safe Mode menu .

Then, here's the procedure:
- Go to Start and type in "verifier" (without the quotes) and press Enter
- Select "Create custom settings (for code developers)" and click "Next"
- Select "Select individual settings from a full list" and click "Next"
- Select everything EXCEPT FOR "Low Resource Simulation" and click "Next"
- Select "Select driver names from a list" and click "Next"
Then select all drivers NOT provided by Microsoft and click "Next"
- Select "Finish" on the next page.

Reboot the system and wait for it to crash to the Blue Screen. Continue to use your system normally, and if you know what causes the crash, do that repeatedly. The objective here is to get the system to crash because Driver Verifier is stressing the drivers out. If it doesn't crash for you, then let it run for at least 36 hours of continuous operation (an estimate on my part).

If you can't get into Windows because it crashes too soon, try it in Safe Mode.
If you can't get into Safe Mode, try using System Restore from your installation DVD to set the system back to the previous restore point that you created.

I have BSOD only a couple of times other than running the swtor launcher, but that is primarily when it happens and the only way I can reliably reproduce a bsod.

Attached are the dumps, the last 2 dumps were with driver verifier running (crashed upon boot-up)
I can run memtest86 for hours (16+ cycles complete) with no errors, prime95 with no errors, and IntelBurnTest with no problems.
Temperatures are not excessive, I have never gotten above 45C on the cpu or 55C on the mainboard under maximum stress.

I don't know what else to try - Thanks in advance!

We've seen a number of BSOD issues with SSD's. Here's the information that I've compiled so far:

Quote:
There's not a whole bunch available to test SSD's. The "easiest" test is to remove the SSD, install a platter-based hard drive, install Windows and test for stability that way.

Here's some suggestions:
- Update the SSD's firmware to the latest available version (VERY IMPORTANT!!!)
- Update the motherboard controllers drivers to the latest available version from the controller manufacturer (NOT the mobo manufacturer unless you can't find any on the controller manufacturer's website)
- Slow the memory (RAM) down to the next slower speed (I've only seen one person who claimed that this worked for them).
- Use any manufacturer's utilities that you may have. If you don't have any, then try this free one (I haven't used it myself): Crystal Dew World
- Update chipset and storage controller drivers to the latest available from the manufacturer of the device (not the manufacturer of the motherboard). Be sure to update ALL controllers on the motherboard!
....NOTE: Recently (Nov 2011) we had BSOD issues with the Marvell 91xx controller and an SSD. You may have to switch controllers also.-
Replace the SSD with a platter based hard drive and see if that stops the BSOD's. If it does, then it's likely that there's a problem with the SSD OR an incompatibility with your system.
It's my opinion that SSD's aren't reliable enough (with current hardware) to be used on a system that needs to work reliably. Until I see reliability I will not recommend, nor will I use, SSD's for critical applications.
06 Dec 2011 - This post tends to confirm issues with certain SSD chipsets and certain controllers - [SOLVED] cant find the cause of BSOD F4 - Tech Support Forum
29 May 2012 - The frequency of BSOD's with SSD's seems to have been decreasing over the last several months. It may be approaching time to re-evaluate my stand on their suitability for use in production systems.

ATI HDMI Audio is disabled. Is this deliberate? If so, why?
Please re-enable it, update the drivers, then disable it again if so desired.

I strongly suspect your Razer device - and it may even be hardware related. So update the Razer drivers. If that doesn't fix it, then uninstall the software and physically remove the device from your system.

You have 2 versions of AMD Overdrive installed. Please make sure that they are both removed. Here's my suggestions:

Quote:
AMD OverDrive (AODDriver2.sys) is either a stand-alone application, or a component of the AMD VISION Engine Control Center. This driver is known to cause BSOD's on some Win7 systems.

Quote:
Please uninstall all AMD/ATI video stuff from Control Panel...Programs...Uninstall a program
Then, download (but DO NOT install) a fresh copy of the ATI drivers from Global Provider of Innovative Graphics, Processors and Media Solutions | AMD (in the upper right corner of the page)
Use this procedure to install the DRIVER ONLY: ATI video cards - DRIVER ONLY installation procedure

If the device (AODDriver or AODDriver4.01) remains a problem, open Device Manager, select the "View" item.
Then select "Show hidden devices" and scroll down to the Non-Plug and Play Drivers section.
Locate the AODDriver entry, right click on it and select "Uninstall". Reboot for changes to take affect.

Sometimes the driver remains and continues to cause BSOD's. If this is the case for you, post back and we'll give further instructions for safely removing it.

If overclocking, please stop. Remove the overclock and return the system to stock/standard values while we're troubleshooting. Once the system is stable again, feel free to resume the overclocking.

Good Afternoon,

In the past couple of months, I've had multiple instances of BSOD and have tried to solve on my own; but to no avail, I have been unsuccessful and I am now here.

Here's the BSOD messages that I have seen:
11/17 - DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL (tcpip.sys)
11/17 - SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION
11/10 - ATTEMPTED_WRITE_TO_READONLY_MEMORY
9/10 - DRIVER_VERIFIER_DETECTED_VIOLATION - used memtest86 and found no issues with RAM
9/10 - KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED (mv91xx.sys) - think I solved
9/6 - KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED - think I solved

Thank you,

Jace

But sometimes there is a real bluescreen appearing and it says "an attempt to reset the display driver and recover from a timeout failed" and some other times the "Video TDR error" message has appeared. I've learned that this is a bugcheck 0x116" BSOD and I've read about solutions such as updating Video Driver, check the temperature, updating other drivers and so on. I've tried several video drivers, updated other outdated drivers and nothing works. I don't think its a heatrelated problem as I sometimes get BSOD about 1 min after start up.
Actually I have had freezes like this in periods from about six months after I bought the computer until now(bought it at the end of nov 2009). The first time I solved it by updating BIOS, but know I can't find any new update.
Other "BSOD periods" I've solved by updating video driver and reseting windows to the original "store-mode" so to say :P

Now any solution I can come up with doesn't work and I don't wanna reinstall windows again just for another two months of being BSOD free!

Anyone got any tips, I really need some help!

Minidumpfile attached.

Its the directx driver, video card, power, or heat. I would start by re-installing directX

"It's not a true crash, in the sense that the bluescreen was initiated only because the combination of video driver and video hardware was being unresponsive, and not because of any synchronous processing exception.

Since Vista, the "Timeout Detection and Recovery" (TDR) components of the OS video subsystem have been capable of doing some truly impressive things to try to recover from issues which would have caused earlier OSs like XP to crash.

As a last resort, the TDR subsystem sends the video driver a "please restart yourself now!" command and waits a few seconds.

If there's no response, the OS concludes that the video driver/hardware combo has truly collapsed in a heap, and it fires off that stop 0x116 BSOD.

If playing with video driver versions hasn't helped, make sure the box is not overheating.

Try removing a side panel and aiming a big mains fan straight at the motherboard and GPU.

Run it like that for a few hours or days - long enough to ascertain whether cooler temperatures make a difference.

If so, it might be as simple as dust buildup and subsequently inadequate cooling.

I would download cpu-z and gpu-z (both free) and keep an eye on the video temps Let us know if you need help STOP 0x116: VIDEO_TDR_ERROR troubleshooting

Hello there,

I've been having BSOD since around 2/14/16. They have different codes and the most recent one was today error 0x000000d1. I've noticed that it seems to happen when I wake up my computer from sleep. My CPU was overclocked when this started and as of 2/19/16 I've reset it to default speed. My sister recommended this forum to me.

Thank you very much!

Lucia

Edit: I was looking through my images on my phone and I sent my sister a screenshot on 2/19 of a BAD_POOL_HEADER BSOD STOP: 0x00000019. We uninstalled my HP printer driver which was the newest driver at the time, uninstalled my NVIDIA video driver, downloaded windows essentials and scanned the comp (clean), uninstalled malwarebytes, reset CPU speed and installed the newest NVIDIA driver. I reinstalled malwarebytes as well and ran a scan (clean). Didn't have any issues until today.

A:BSOD when waking comp from sleep, multiple BSOD errors

Hello Milkpop and welcome to 7forums!

So you aren't overclocking right now?

The most recent BSODs were caused by cmudaxp.sys which is an ASUS audio driver, manually update or reinstall the audio drivers. You may need to uninstall, reboot, and perform a fresh audio driver install. You can download the new drivers from here:
https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/RA...Desk_Download/

BSOD BlueScreenView caused playing it was a bad installation of Windows BSOD when playing games. BlueScreenView says ntoskrnl.exe caused BSOD so I did a clean format full of my SSD and a clean install of Windows Ultimate x Installation failed quite a few times before finally succeeding Tried another copy of Windows same install failures I finally finished reinstalling Windows on my PC I suspected the RAM to be at fault so I ran MemTest and found a ton of errors Upon closer inspection of the BIOS settings I found that my board was clocking my ram in Auto mode at mhz instead of the factory mhz Corsair Vengeance LP DDR CAS on Asus Sabertooth Z I updated my BIOS to the latest as of this posting and I still have to manually set the memory frequencies for it to run at mhz Everything seemed fine for a few hours running prime I supposed my PC was fine now after that clean install of Windows but a few minutes into playing Battlefield I BSOD I am no pro at reading dump files and I was hoping someone could help me isolate the sources of my BSODs I've attached the minidump files for each BSOD below Thanks
