BSoD and Screen Resolution problem when Upgrading to new Graphics Card

Q: BSoD and Screen Resolution problem when Upgrading to new Graphics Card

First of all, I apologize if I opened this thread in the wrong Section.

Onto the problem~

After installing War Thunder, I realized I needed to upgrade to a newer version of my Graphics card. So I opened Device Manager and went to upgrade the graphics driver, but said It's up to date, so I go to the AMD website ( I have a ATI Radeon HD Series Graphic card, which is supported by AMD ) to download a new one, I enter the correct information here which gives me this to which I download the first one, all's fine and dandy, but once I reboot, the Screen resolution is much bigger, and moments later I'd receive a BSoD. So is there anything I'm missing? Much appreciated

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Bought the X1650PRO and fitted it today

After a few problems (blue screen of death etc!!) got it working

Only thing now is everything on the screen looks so small

All my desktop icons are smaller, and even web pages only fill about 3/4 of the screen width

I have tried messing with the resolution but none of them look right (distorted or too big)

Any ideas??

Few months ago, I upgrade my Windows 8 to Windows 8.1
Ever since the upgrade, I couldn't play my games in native resolution.

FYI, my laptop default screen resolution is 1920x1080 There is no problem with the resolution inside windows/desktop. However, I have to set the in-game resolution to 1600x900 in order to fit the screen. If I set the in-game resolution to 1920x1080(Native) then the screen will be too big for my laptop monitor.

All my games have to set to 1600x900 now....

I've also upgrade my nvidia to the latest driver.
My laptop is an Asus N53J laptop.

Please advise. Thanks

A:Screen Resolution problem after upgrading to Windows 8.1

You need to set the enable GPU scaling in your Nvidia control panel.

Don't use resolutions with unsupported refresh rates ie. anything lower than 59.97hz. You should be able to use most resolutions as long as they are 60hz. Try using variants of the 16:9 such as 1280x720, 1600x900, 1920x1080. Some of the resolutions are 16x10 and you will either have stretching or black bars if you use those.

hello,

my system configuration is :
Motherboard :GA -8I865GME- 775
CPU :intel p4 HT 3.06GHz
RAM:1.5GB ddr1
graphics:On board intel 82865G graphics adapter
i have an AGP 4x/8x(1.5v) slot

i am currently running win 7 but not its aero features and transperency due to unsuppored motherboard
now i want to install a new graphics card in my AGP slot and my question is :

1. which graphics card should i install so that i can run win 7 aero features.
2. i have a Samsung CRT 17" monitor ,will it conflict with the graphic card to run win 7 aero features.
3.Should the "DDR" of the graphic card taken in consideration.

"please keep in mind that i cannot buy a new computer"

thank you in advance

A:problem upgrading graphics card

Sunjyot, welcome to the Seven Forums.

To answer your questions,

1. None, see below.

2. No.

3. No.

The reason for saying none is that sadly any AGP card you buy will be worth more than your computer. It is your money but buying something that is obsolete (AGP has gone the way of the dodo) just for Aero doesn't make sense.

Also the motherboard has a totally unsupported chipset on it (Intel 865, of which Intel stopped supporting a long time ago) which can make getting an AGP card to install properly (if at all) a challenge.

You may not be able to afford a new computer now, but it would be wiser to save up until you can instead of essentially throwing the money away.

I've managed to upgrade some of my home PC's from Win or Win to Wn without any significant problems but I am having major difficulty upgrading one of my PC's It is running Win Home -bit and when I originally ran the Windows upgrade advisor it indicated that I could not upgrade as my NVidia GEForce graphics card was incompatible with Windows I tried various workarounds using suggestions on this and other sites to upgrade with the GEForce card but none were successful So I purchased and to 10 upgrading card graphics Win after Upgrading - incompatible installed a new graphics card - an AMD Radeon R which should be Win compatible Upgrading to Win 10 - after upgrading incompatible graphics card I then re-ran the Win upgrade advisor - it still said that I couldn't upgrade as the quot GeForce card quot was incompatible - even though it was no longer installed I checked the Upgrading to Win 10 - after upgrading incompatible graphics card Device Manager and the graphics card was clearly showing as being the AMD card I then explicitly uninstalled any NVidia drivers software using the Control Panel Program uninstall - still unable to upgrade to Win I also ran the Wagnard tools quot Display driver uninstaller quot and removed any NVidia software drivers - still unable to upgrade I am using the latest drivers from the AMD website I also tried to upgrade using the Media Creation tool and a Win image from DVD previously this also failed to work and gave the incompatible graphics card error this seemed to work up to a point but after a reboot it wanted me to select a keyboard layout but neither my usb keyboard nor mouse would function and the installation froze On rebooting the OS reverted to Win and the keyboard mouse worked ok I want to upgarde to Win rather than do a fresh install but am now unsure what to do - I keep getting the quot Incompatible GEForce graphics card quot message anytime I run the Win advisor tool even after downloading it again from the MS website Any suggestions as to how I can resolve this issue and finally upgrade

Hi,
I just got a dell latitude d610, and to my shock and horror it's screen resolution can only go up to 1024 x 768. I owned a d600 before, and its screen resolution could go up to 1280 x 1024 - I think; it died on me so I can't check, but it was definitely higher than my "new" one. Since the d610 is a newer model, I'm really hoping that there is some way to get it to reach at least the kind of resolution that I'm used to... How could I go about doing that?
In advance, thank you very much for your help.

So I have 2 Dell Latitude E6320 laptops, one has a broken screen that I intend to repair and then sell the whole system.
But I was wondering if it was possible to buy a 1920x1080 screen to put in my personal laptop then take the old 1366x768 to replace the broken system.
Both have an i5 CPU with onboard intel 3000 graphics which should support 1080P output.
Any info is appreciated.

A:Upgrading screen resolution from 1366x768 to 1920x1080

It looks like 1366X768 was the only screen resolution offered in this model - so there won't be a cable harness that supports FHD.  The answer is almost ceratainly no - you can't upgrade the resolution in this model.

Out of nowhere I had a graphics card error saying it will no longer run. I did not manage to get a screenshot which makes it hard for me to explain.

The problem has caused My desktop icons and basic resolution to be relatively larger than usual and everything has a slight fuzz to it. ( as if I am running in safe mode)

Other than that my computer works perfectly and World of Warcraft which I play everyday works normal and honestly slightly smoother.

reinstall my card? first off I do not know where its located. RADEON 9200SE

Might be an idea to re-install the card, but maybe first thing to try would be to re-install the drivers. Or even install updated versions of the drivers associated with your card.

Hi

I have a Nvidia GTX 580 GPU

I have just bought a Dell UltraSharp U2713HM - running a resolution at 2560*1440.I know it's not a gaming screen, but I still manage to run games pretty well.

But I'm thinking. If I get a better GPU will that make the games run even better at 2560*1440 ?

Thanks

A:Graphics card and monitor resolution ?

Yes. In general a larger, more powerful graphics card will run games better at higher resolution. It can get much more complicated than that, but in general, this is the deal.

For best advice about what to expect in higher performance from any particular card over your 580 (which is no slouch by the way) you could ask here, or better, over in the Gaming forum where all the graphics-heads hang out. They start talking about Frame Rates and Cuda Cores and I just glaze over!

For instance, when you compare your 580 to my 660 you can see that in some categories your card is better:

Hello and welcome to Techspot.

I have deleted your post in the old thread, since you have a new thread for your problem, it is no longer necessary.

I have also changed your thread title to something a litlle more descriptive. This will help you to get more replies.

My guess would be your graphics card is faulty and probably needs to be replaced. Just to rule out any possibility of a monitor problem, try a different monitor and see what the results are.

Hi,

Have been having some problems with a recurring BSOD (on Windows 8.1 Pro), apparently with the graphics card (atikmpag.sys mentioned). They happen on boot. Also, the screen turned into colored blocks but I could guess the positions of dialog buttons to be able to logout.

Thanks for any help!

Hi Guys,

This is a pretty tough question I suppose, and I wasn't sure where to post it.

i've somehow managed to crack the LCD screen of my ThinkPad laptop on the right-hand side, leading to the formation of black and coloured lines on the screen.

I'd love to change the resolution so that this part of the screen was excluded and I could keep using the laptop normally, but it turns out that the Intel graphics card in this computer doesn't support custom resolutions, only 1024x76 and 800x600.

I imagine that a way around this might be to change the default size of a window, so that if I open an application it by default doesn't use the entire screen, and if I hit the 'maximise' button it goes to the custom resolution instead of the whole screen.

Is such a modification possible?

Any help would be massively appreciated!

Thanks,

Alex

A:Custom Resolution not supported by graphics card

Changing your screen resolution will merely change the resolution of the screen, not make it smaller. Your best bet would be to get the screen replaced, or live with the crack.

Hi,

I'm planning to buy a new wide-screen monitor for my PC that runs naively at 1680x1050 screen resolution.

The problem is that when I check display settings, I see that the max resolution available is 1280x1024 (my current monitor's native resolution). Would plugging in the new monitor automatically expand the resolution options, or is there something I need to do first?

I'm on Vista using NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT

Sounds like the update hasn't installed correctly.

You might want to uninstall the drivers in Uninstall a Program and graphics adapter in Device Manager, and then reboot and reinstall the updated drivers.

Hey there guys,

I've recently upgraded to Windows Vista not realising that I would have to update my hardware in order for the best features to work!

I'm in the process of buying some memory (which I hope is the right one!), but I also need a new graphics card. According to Vista, I need one with 256Mb graphics memory.

I know that you have to choose one depending on the type of bus your motherboard has (i.e. PCI/PCi-E/AGI etc) but I don't know which one I have as I don't have any documentation. I have the Everest program, but don't know where to look on it to find out which one I need.

Here's a few specs of my machine - it's an AMD Sempron 2800, 2ghz 512mb with 120Gb Hdd, and the motherboard is model MS-7061.

Any help would be much appreciated!

also, my monitor uses a VGA cable, how will i be able to convert it and plug it into the dvi ports?

I am concidering upgrading my graphics card but its confusing trying to pick a card. (Some are ?30 with 2GB of memory and others are ?150 with 1GB... huh?) I'm looking for a good card, preferably AMD just to have it matching the CPU (that probably sounds silly) but it doesn't matter all that much, that would go well with my system so as not to create a bottle neck;

AMD FX-8320 Vishera FD8320FRW8KHK
MSI 760GA-P43 (FX)
Samsung DDR3 4GB PC3-10600U 1333MHz x2
Seagate Desktop HDD ST1000DM003
Corsair CX600M
My top budget is ~?100

Or is my current card (NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460 SE) ok?

A:Upgrading Graphics Card

Clock speed and Memory does not always matter. The actual performance matters. PassMark Software - Video Card Benchmarks - High End Video Cards Look at this list and look for the GTX and Radeon GPUs. You may be surprised at the performance with the amount of clock speed and memory. EVGA - Products - EVGA GeForce GTX 760 w/ EVGA ACX Cooling - 02G-P4-2763-KR This or something similar from a brand that is available in UK.

Currently i own an athlon 800, with 256ram however despite good all round performance on most applications i am let down when it somes to playing games. The graphics card i have at the moment is an Nvidia TNT2 32mb but this seems to be sadly lacking when it comes to running games.

I don't want to spend loads of money if i am better just replacing my whole PC - but i would welcome suggestions on which graphics cards i should go and buy. Any help you can give me would be most appreciated

PS - don't want to be spending more than £100

A:Upgrading Graphics card?

If this i s a laptop...the bottom line is NO. Now there are a few usb adpapters that will allow you to use a standard GPU (for desktop) that way but that's upwards of $500....Laptop hardware is built into/onto the mobo so there's no way to replace the GPU of a laptop.

Yeah, I know, what I should be doing is upgrading to PCI-e. However, I don't have the money to buy a new mobo/case/cpu/everything else associated with chaging formats altogether just yet, so I'm doing this to tide me over.

In the computer-in-question, there is currently a Geforce MX440. The card I am looking at to replace it is a Radeon 9550, and I was wondering if it would be a worthwhile upgrade? I'm not expecting a huge increase in performance, but for the 70 bucks it would cost I'd like to know if I'll see any noticeable difference. I'm not too great at reading specs and drawing conclusions from them, so I was hoping someone could help me out.

Hi: The Nvidia 730 series cards won't work in a PC that old. The BIOS won't accept it. If you want a nVidia card which is close to the 730, you would have to go with the GT 630. Also there is a workaround to use the onboard graphics and upgrade to W10. See this discussion below.  You run the DVD you make from the windows desktop, and skip the check for updates. http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Desktop-Video-Display-and-Touch/NVIDIA-GeForce-6150SE-nForce-430-chipset-not-compatible-with/m-p/5173180#M41749

You'd definitely need to upgrade your power supply. I would *HIGHLY* suggest a 500w or higher PSU.. and don't go with a cheap one. I've seen those blow and take the entire system with it (12v on the 3.3v standby rail).

A:Upgrading graphics card

I'm not a hard-core gamer nor a hardware expert, but I see a few potential issues.

1. The small case and cramped space may cause a heat issue.

2. The 430 watt power supply may not be adequate to handle the graphics/gaming load.

3. The motherboard is too small for a full-size graphics card.

Hello I recently made the decision that I want to upgrade my graphics card because I m tired of quot meeting the reccomended settings quot then jumping into the game to find I have to but card, only Upgrading graphics my a v1.0 PCI-e it's turn things near to minimum most of the time medium if I m lucky Anyway I currently have an Nvidia GeForce GT and after a Upgrading my graphics card, but it's only a PCI-e v1.0 lot of research I decided I wanted to get Upgrading my graphics card, but it's only a PCI-e v1.0 the Nvidia GTX as my upgrade though after I set my mind on it I noticed in a comparison my old card is PCI-e v and the GTX is v My question is how much reduced performance will I be getting from using the GTX in my system Upgrading my graphics card, but it's only a PCI-e v1.0 would it be so much so that I d be better off getting a card Also if I put the GTX in at the same time as the GT I have two PCI-e v slots would I gain any performance from that being that I can t SLI them my mobo does support SLI though so would getting another GT and running them in SLI be a better solution overall I was hoping to run the new Sonic Generations game with good performance but can anyone help me with upgrading my graphics card please nbsp

A:Upgrading my graphics card, but it's only a PCI-e v1.0

Hi Dhakos,
PCIE v1.0 and v2.0 are backward/forward compatible. the 460 does not use all of a v1.0 bandwidth so you are okay there. as far as SLI'ing te two cards, the cards must be same gen, same core etc for sli to function. so the 8600Gt and the GT460 will not sli. you can use your 8600 for physX however. The 460 is going to give you better performance than will 2 x 8600, not to mention DX11 capability.

Last year I bouught a Compaq Presario desktop with Vista premounted. I just tried to set it up to run a Vista video screensaver, and I get a message that says, essentially, "the video card in your cheap-a$$ed WalMart Special is not up the task". So I am thinking about upgrading the card. But I don't have a clue. What would be the best way for Joe Computer to proceed? Dollars are dear.

A:Upgrading graphics card.

You can get decent video cards for reasonably cheap these days. I'd venture to guess that your Presario has a PCI-Express slot, 16x even. You can pick up an eVGA 9500GT 1GB for $90 at the local Fry's in my area.

Hi all, this is my first time posting on here (apologies if this is the wrong forum).

I have a g5200uk-m with a nvidia geforce 6150se nforce 430 graphics card in it.

the mother board is a M2N68-LA (Narra6).

it also can handle up to 300w.

I'm looking to upgrade the power and graphics to the total cost of no more than £150, but preferably around the £100 mark.

can anyone recommend a good psu and graphics card that would work on my computer for that amount?

thanks in advance.

I have AMD HD 5830 card. I want to upgrade it.

pc specs:
Intel i5 760 2.8GHz quad core
Gigabyte P55UD3R motherboard (PCI Exp 2)
2 x 4GB DDR3 ram 1333 MHz.
22" LCD monitor max res 1920X1080p

Which best card can I have so that cpu and mobo dont create bottleneck.

A:Upgrading graphics card

What card are you considering? The CPU will bottleneck newer cards like the GTX 760, from what I've seen.

I'd recommend overclocking the CPU (they OC like champs with a decent cooler) to around 3.5GHz or so. That should eliminate any chance of a bottleneck.

$800 is a great budget for a GPU. Do you want to stick with AMD or is NVIDIA an option? The new AMD cards are being released now (7000 series) and the NVIDIA 600 series is being released soon which are pci-e 3.0 (I didn't look at your board specs so I don't know if it will support the next gen cards).

I am currently attempting to upgrade my (quite bad) gaming PC. Which has an AMD RADEON 5570 graphics card in.

I am looking to upgrade to something in the 7000 Series but I do not know if you can just pick and choose a graphics card or if it depends on the rest of your PC's specs.

Specs:

Intel Core i3-550 Processor

1TB Harddisk

4GB RAM

Radeon HD5570 Graphics card

Sorry for the newbie question, I am new to PC building!

A:[Help] Upgrading Graphics card

Any semi recent video card uses a PCI-E slot. So pretty much any card that uses that slot should work. With that said, the biggest thing to watch is the power supply. Ensure you have a quality power supply that can provide enough clean power for the whole PC (including the gpu which can be quite power hungry.).

Hello,
I was so satisfied with Triple6's good work on helping me with my CPU upgrade, I decided to come back. But this time a different question. Upgrading the graphics card... what do I need to know and should be looking for when upgrading my graphics card. I have a Dell Inspiron 546, running with a ATI Radeon HD 3200. I'd still like to keep to the ATI Radeon series. But I'd like it to be good and a price range of $25 to $75, maybe $100. I'm looking at the ATI Radeon 5670, but I realized it a DDR3 so I wasn't sure it would work when my RAM slots requires DDR2. I have a 0F896N motherboard by Dell Inc. if that helps any.

If you need more information about my computer feel free to ask, I'll reply A.S.A.P.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you very much,

Yes. Get into your bios (F8 on restart I think for HP) and change it...after you install the vid card.

However, try installing the card and the drivers first. No need to complicate things if it isn't needed.

I am interested in purchasing an Inspiron Small Desktop, but would like to upgrade the graphics card. The one I had in mind is a MSI - AMD Radeon R9 380 4GB graphics card. Would this be possible, both physical size of desktop computer/graphics card and power wise? Would this void the computer warranty if I was to do so?

Thank you in advance.

A:Upgrading Graphics Card

The exact model name and number of the Inspiron is required for an answer. Know that a small desktop must have a low profile card and also one that does not require a high powered power supply--not over 300w. A $300 video card like the one you list would never be able to be installed on a small budget desktop. Check the system requirements of any video card before buying. Buy a gaming model computer instead of a budget model.
BTW--Inspirons are dell computers not HP.

Intel HD graphics means you don't have a graphics card. It uses the CPU.

Pretty much, either buy a card, or turn the game settings way down. It's actually pretty demanding.

Any quality power supply with more than 400 watts will work, the key word is quality and it should be more than the minimum. Good brands are Corsair, Thermaltake, Antec, Enermax but all have entry level units that aren't meant for gaming system but basic or office use. A:upgrading graphics card

You have one pci-e 16 slot for a video card however you only have a 240W pw supply. In addition, you have a sff type case ie it is a small case.

In order to use a real video card, you need to do two things;
1 Measure your case to see if the card you want will fit
2 Upgrade your pw supply so you can actually use a video card

The later is going to be problematic since you have a sff and a standard pw supply will not fit.

In short, while you might be able to upgrade the pw and install a real video card, it is NOT cost effective. It will cost you a lot of money for the pw supply and you will still have an old hp computer.
Here is the spec sheet for that computer;

Hello, currently I have a GeForce 8600GT and would like to upgrade.

I'm considering the GeForce 9600 GT. Would there be enough of an improvement in framerate to warrant an upgrade to this model?

Is it really necessary to buy a "GTX 295" for nextgen gaming?

And for the 9800GT, why is it that the same models vary so much in price? (All I see different under specs is the Video Memory and Memory Type) Would these variations cause a noticeable decrease in performance?

My other specs are:
Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 @ 2.4Ghz
3 GB RAM
21 inch monitor

EDIT: Also, would it be possible to still use my 8600GT along with a newer Video Card?

A:Upgrading My Graphics Card

The reason why memory is impotant is because the more deidcated memory on the card the less it has to share with the other memory on your board. I have a 9800GT and I have been pleased but this all depends on how much you want to spend.

I currently have a Nvidia GTX 275 but I'm looking to upgrade.

I've narrowed it down to a GTX 560 Ti and a GTX 570 since I like to remain with Nvidia and the other cards from Nvidia cost a bit too much at this moment.

However I'm unsure which of the two I should get.

The 560 only costs 250 so that's a plus while the 570 costs 350, but my question: Is the 570 really worth the extra 100?

Also, for how much would my GTX 275 still sell? Tried looking on google but it seems the card became extinct or something, lol.

Thx in advance.

Welcome to SF. As the proud owner of a GTX260OC and having upgraded to a Radeon 5770 Hawk on the cheap. I may not be the guy to help. But in my humble opinion I would grab the 470 and save the money or spend the difference on a SSD and really up the ante! Either way it will be an improvement over the GTX270 which isn't a slouch of a card, ever thought of picking up another GTX 270 on the real cheap and SLI'g ?

the AGP bus has a higher bandwidth than the PCI bus, and so allows more data to be transferred per second, resulting in better performance and better graphics.

If I recall correctly, the AGP bus also, unlike the PCI bus, has a direct line to the memory for texture mapping, thus avoiding the CPU and lowering resource usage. If the wiki is correct though, I may be wrong about this, or perhaps it's missing/I've missed it in the article. Not that it matters The main point is that AGP is better and faster.

Now, PCI-E is faster again than AGP, but it doesn't appear that you have a mainboard that supports it.

From wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Accelerated_Graphics_Port (easier than looking it up in my textbooks of old.... lol)

AGP 1x, using a 32-bit channel operating at 66 MHz resulting in a maximum data rate of 266 megabytes per second (MB/s), doubled from the 133 MB/s transfer rate of PCI bus 33 MHz / 32-bit; 3.3 V signaling.
AGP 2x, using a 32-bit channel operating at 66 MHz double pumped to an effective 133 MHz resulting in a maximum data rate of 533 MB/s; signaling voltages the same as AGP 1x;
AGP 4x, using a 32-bit channel operating at 66 MHz quad pumped to an effective 266 MHz resulting in a maximum data rate of 1066 MB/s (1 GB/s); 1.5 V signaling;
AGP 8x, using a 32-bit channel operating at 66 MHz, strobing eight times per clock, delivering an effective 533 MHz resulting in a maximum data rate of 2133 MB/s (2 GB/s); 0.8 V signaling.Click to expand...

Again, from wiki,

As computers became increasingly graphically-oriented, the graphics card became far more important than other PCI devices, and, thus, the AGP slot was developed. AGP slots are superior to PCI for graphics cards because they provide a dedicated pathway between the slot and the processor, allowing for faster communication between the two. In addition, AGP uses sideband addressing, meaning that addressing for packets is carried outside of the packet, meaning that the entire packet does not need to be read to get addressing information. In addition, to load a texture, a PCI graphics card must copy it from the system's RAM into the card's framebuffer. An AGP card is capable of reading textures directly from system RAM using the Graphics Address Remapping Table (GART). GART reapportions main memory for texture storage, allowing the graphics card to access them directly.Click to expand...

And finally, what wiki has to say aboput the speed of the PCI bus...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PCI_bus#Conventional_PCI_bus_specifications

Conventional, 133MB/sec peak transfer rate
PCI 2.2, 533 MB/s peak transfer rate

Essentiall, what's important is that AGP is far superior for graphics than PCI, unless you are considering PCI-Express.
BTW... Intel(R) Celeron(R) CPU 2.40GHz current speed at 3200MHz - that's an impressive overclock. Did you do it yourself?

hey guys ,I'm upgrading my graphic card from 8600gt so I'm thinking of 9800GTX+ ,my price range is around $100-$180 is it the best choice.
my mobo is n-force 650 ultra will it face any problems with this card cause its pc-i 1.1 and the card is 2.0 or so
the max res for me is 1600x900
and im planing on playing games like GTA IV and CRYSIS with good FPS

I was looking at Sparkle and EVGA as well, but the BFG version topped em both by just a little.
Oh yeah, if you want GOOD fps for Crysis as well as PERFECT quality, just buy two of these or two $60 or $70 versions of the 9600 and with a little overclock on the 9600s it'd be perfect quality. (maybe on the 9600s I ain't quite sure)
But one 9800 gtx+ should do it. Note on the 9800 GTX+: it consumes a WHOLE lot more power than the standard 9800 GTX. So, have an adequate psu to support the card like a 750watt or an 800watt psu would be safer. I think it's 500 or 550watts that is actually needed to power the gpu, but I always overdo it.

I'm thinking of upgrading my old graphics card but not quite sure which models would be compatible. I have a Gateway PC with a 300W power supply with one PCI-Express x16 slot and I'm running a 64-bit version of Windows 7, any suggestions?

Hi - My display is flickering and it goes off quite frequently. It also causes the computer the hang up when trying to do other tasks. Is there something wrong with my graphics card or driver? I attempted to update the driver and no change. I've tried updating the driver and I get error messages indicating that it can't be done.

I have a Dell 8200 that was purchased in 2003. The graphics card is a NVIDIA GeForce FX5200. Any recommendations on where to start troubleshooting, or should I just go get another graphics card?

Thanks!

How old is your current power supply?

A 0x116 crash usually means the display card or power supply if the crashes are due to hardware. Check that the display card has clean contacts and is not covered in dust. Try Another Display Card - Clean Contacts - Remove Dust

A:ati radeon hd 3650 graphics card trouble with resolution

try updating the catalyst control center. i run ati video also and have never had any trouble with there updates.

it might just be a bug in the version that came with the card.
