I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi arsene.

Are you overclocking? As you are getting BSODs, you should stop overclocking and run all the hardware components like CPU, GPU and RAM to their default settings. Also set the BIOS to default, too.

I've noticed there are several junk and really problematic programs installed on your system:

Remove:

Code:
Start Menu\Programs\Advanced SystemCare 6
Windows 7 doesn't require any programs which make changes to the operating system and registry, these programs tend to cause problems by modifying and deleting files.Registry Cleaner Tests - Why NOT To Use One!

Quote:
Windows is a closed source system. Developers of registry cleaners do not have the core code of Windows 7 and are not working on definitive information, but rather they are going on past knowledge and experience. Automatic cleaners will usually have to do some guesswork.

Modifying registry keys incorrectly can cause Windows instability, or make Windows unbootable. No registry cleaner is completely safe and the potential is ever present to cause more problems than they claim to fix.

Registry cleaners cannot distinguish between good and bad. If you run a registry cleaner, it will delete all those keys which are obsolete and sitting idle; but in reality, those keys may well be needed by some programs or windows at a later time.

Windows 7 is much more efficient at managing the registry than previous Windows versions. If you run any other registry cleaner and do not know precisely what you are doing, you will have problems down the road. There are no gains to be had from using a registry cleaner and the risk is great.

Please remove the following software:

This software can be cause of BSOD's. The windows 7 operating system does not require these registry cleaning software. They often tune-down rather than tune-up and can wreck the OS beyond repair. Microsoft have improved Windows 7 significantly and it is much better at organising and optimising itself than its predecessors. Check this, this and this thread for evidence.

If you feel the need to use a registry cleaning or optimisation software, most of us recommend the use of CCleaner but make sure you back up the registry before making letting ccleaner delete anything.

Hi there,

A few days ago I started getting BSODS while playing Battlefield 3 with the following error: "A clock interrupt was not received on a secondary processor within the allocated time interval" - code:0x00000101

I would include a dump file, but as soon as I get the BSOD it keeps saying:

Collecting data for crash dump...
Initializing disk for crash dump...

PC specs:
i7 930
Asus P6X58D-E
6Gigs of RAM
GTX 480

I have already ran memtest but it showed no errors.

There have been no DMP files recorded on your Machine,,you'll have to check under your System properties for performance settings to make sure your recording the BSOD events..

We do need the DMP file as it contains the only record of the sequence of events leading up to the crash, what drivers were loaded, and which one was responsible.

You may be able to get the DMP files without crashing by booting into safe mode (F8) with networking.

To enable us to assist you with your computer's BSOD symptoms, upload the contents of your "\Windows\Minidump" folder.

The procedure:

* Copy the contents of \Windows\Minidump to another (temporary) location somewhere on your machine.
* Zip up the copy.
* Attach the ZIP archive to your post using the "paperclip" (file attachments) button.
*If the files are too large please upload them to a file sharing service like "Rapidshare" and put a link to them in your reply.
To ensure minidumps are enabled:

* Go to Start, in the Search Box type: sysdm.cpl, press Enter.
* Under the Advanced tab, click on the Startup and Recovery Settings... button.
* Ensure that Automatically restart is unchecked.
* Under the Write Debugging Information header select Small memory dump (256 kB) in the dropdown box (the 256kb varies).
* Ensure that the Small Dump Directory is listed as %systemroot%\Minidump.
* OK your way out.
* Reboot if changes have been made.

I get almost every day this same BSOD sometimes when playing bf3 sometimes even while playing minecraft. I got this problem for over 6 months now. SFC.exe /scannow doesn't give any faults. If someone could help i would be very grateful.
Edit: I just read that my graphics card Nvidia Geforce GTX 560 Ti needs a minimium of 550W power supply and i have 500W power supply, so could this cause this BSOD?
Edit2: Bought 650W power supply and week without BSOD and now my again BSOD.

Hey guys any help you could give me would be much appreciated this is driving me nuts over here. Anytime I play a game seems to happen with any and all games I have tried I get a BSOD. I might play for an hour or two before it happens, or I might play for 10 to 15 minutes when it happens. Seems random and not so much as if its at a set point and then happening due to something trying to run. I have attached the Zip file for you to take a look and see what you can find.

Much thanks,

After every match of world of tanks, I get the aforementioned BSOD. This just started today, I was playing just fine yesterday. It only happens at the end, when I am sent back to the garage. I have not tried any other games.

From what the microsoft bug check tells me, it's a problem with the CPU (CLOCK_WATCHDOG_TIMEOUT).

My full PC Specs are :
i5 3570k @ 3.4ghz (stock) with the stock cooler
MSI HD 7970 @ stock
8 GB Corsair Vengeance
ASUS P8 Z77-V LE Plus
CoolerMaster GX650W
I've uploaded a picture of the BSOD, the .dmp file from the most recent BSOD in the .rar, and the DM Log collector file in the .zip.

Sorry if I forgot any information, can you guys please help me?

Hi Soldi, Welcome to Sevenforums!

First off lets get rid of the following:
Daemon Tools
AVG PC Tuneup
DriverUpdate
NCH Software Suite

Uninstall them with Revo Uninstaller (While uninstalling a program, select the "Advanced" option and Select all and delete any file found)
Download Revo Uninstaller Freeware - Free and Full Download - Uninstall software, remove programs, solve uninstall problems

If you are overclocking stop now until we can achieve a stable system.

Your BIOS needs to be updated
ASUSTeK Computer Inc. -Support- Drivers and Download P8Z77-V LE PLUS

At least one BSOD has had some sort of hangup with your graphics driver. You have the latest driver so lets try to uninstall it and reinstall just to see if that helps.

Code:
*** WARNING: Unable to verify timestamp for atikmdag.sys
*** ERROR: Module load completed but symbols could not be loaded for atikmdag.sys
atikmdag+0x8248b
Also, check with Razer Synapse, it was the process running when the BSOD occurred.

I would remove this from your PC as I don't believe its necessary. Use Revo as suggested above.

Download the latest driver
MSI USA - Computer, Laptop, Notebook, Desktop, Mainboard, Graphics and more

Uninstall the current graphics driver

Clean leftover driver files
Drivers - Clean Left over Files after Uninstalling

Reboot Windows, Upon reboot windows will load the default graphics driver.

Navigate to where you saved the graphics driver you just downloaded and run it.

Reboot again and the driver should be functioning.

If the above solutions don't help it could be due to hardware issues. See the thread below for more troubleshooting.

STOP 0x101: CLOCK_WATCHDOG_TIMEOUT troubleshtg

Try all of the above and report back.

Title says it all. I read the 101 error code is faulty hardware (usually RAM). So I used a different RAM and the BSOD still happened. I re-installed DotA2 and Steam. I updated all my drivers. I updated my BIOS. I ran a memory test which passed (although i have handled the RAM since the mem test, i doubt it was shorted out since then as I am very careful of grounding myself.) The BSOD happened once maybe twice last week, but now it's happening multiple times in a single match (which averages an hour).

Attached is the SF file as requested by default. Thank you ahead of time for any thought and effort you put into helping me find a solution to this problem.

A:BSOD playing DotA2, error 0x00000050 & 0x00000101

As per the zip you uploaded, the latest BSOD was of 23/10/2013.

Attachment 299271

Checking it may not give any hint about the current situation, as it is old. Moreover, it was caused by the USB driver (Asmedia XHCI, I think), which was remarkably old.

Code:
Image name: asmtxhci.sys
Timestamp: Thu Nov 03 08:30:22 2011 (4EB203C6)
Cannot check the current situation, due to lack of data. But, depending on your statement that you uploaded all the drivers. So the issue should not remain there.

We need crash dumps to know what is happening. Follow it: Dump Files - Configure Windows to Create on BSOD
Go to Option Two, Point 2. Download the .reg file and merge it in registry by double clicking it.

Now wait for another BSOD. When it occurred, search the .dmp files manually in the default path: C:\Windows\Minidump or %SystemRoot%\Minidump. See if the crash dump is recorded or not (hopefully it will be recorded).Post it following the Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) Posting Instructions.

Dont run any disc cleanup tool before you upload another zip.

Plus, for a good ready reference about stop 0x101, see this post: Win 7 A Clock Interrupt... BSOD (101 Error)

a) BIOS bug
b) a driver whose activity is causing the target processor to lock up
c) a hardware defect (temperature, voltage, dust, RFI, outright borkedness...)

Good luck with it.

What you already have done:
You updated the BIOS.
You updated the drivers (have to look at this part once again, after obtaining recent dumps)
You ran memtest86+, as you said. For how many passes? It is to run at least 8 passes.
So I suggest you to do these .....

Stress test the Graphics Card using Furmark.
Video Card - Stress Test with Furmark

Stress test the CPU.
Hardware - Stress Test With Prime95

Check if the Power Supply Unit (PSU) supplying adequate power to the computer or not.

** it will not eliminate the chance of a failing PSU. Later, if needed, it may be needed to swap it with a known good one.

Is the computer hot? Report us the heat of the computer after a couple of hours of your normal usage. Upload a screenshot of the summery tab of Speccy. Alternatively, you can publish a Speccy snapshot too: Speccy - Publish Snapshot of your System Specs .

Are you overclocking? As you are getting BSODs, you should stop overclocking and run all the hardware components like CPU, GPU and RAM to their default settings. Also set the BIOS to default, too.

I've been having constant BSOD's occur on this machine since early last year. I was running Windows 7 Ultimate for about a year. In the past two weeks I switched over to Windows 7 Professional in hopes that it would solve the problem but it has not.

In the past the BSOD's would occur while watching Netflix and burning CD's and DVD's. I have not done either of those activities on this machine for months now. Lately, it has been crashing when running the iracing.com simulator.

The BSOD error codes I'm getting are mainly 0x00000101 and sometimes 0x00000050. Screenshots attached.

After examining the dump files using BlueScreenView (Blue screen of death (STOP error) information in dump files.) it looks like the main culprits are:
-ntoskrnl.exe
-nvlddmkm.sys

Any help would be much appreciated.

While playing multiple games such as 7 days to die, counter strike, league of legends, Dota 2, Starcraft 2, and many others my computer will often randomly get a BSOD, sometimes during an intense part of the game or when I am simply walking somewhere. I've gotten error code 0x00000101 and I got 0x00000124 after using Verifier.

This has been happening for about a year, my brother told me that it was probably my power supply but after I looked into the error codes more I saw that these error codes are mostly for driver errors. This is where I was stumped. I know a little about computers but I had no idea how to find a corrupt driver or even how to find out if that was the problem. Any help would be great. Thanks.

A:BSOD while playing multiple games error code 0x00000101 and 0x00000124

Hello and welcome Connor I take it is Connor I cannot see much in the dump files mate but you do mention your brother has queried the PSU now you can check that with this
Using HW Info
You can test the volts on the PSU with HW Info HWiNFO, HWiNFO32/64 - Download < download the right bit version and close the right hand window select Sensors and scroll down to the power section where you will see what the volts are doing see my pic.
The original right hand window shows the machine running and is handy for that but for looking at the components in some detail close it and use the main left hand side panel
FOR OTHER COMPONENTS
Open each + down into the component itself and then click on it - in the right hand side will appear all sorts of details including brands speeds and other essential info that device. See pic for example it is of my own Ivy Bridge desktop and you need to scroll to that section which gives the volts send a pic if you can please - this is just for starters.

My son installed this newly bought game II Rome War install Total BSOD after on his laptop He leaves for college in days and it has significant problems He says that he actually played the game for a bit left the laptop in standby mode for a few hours and came back to the BSOD This is not a new machine he is going to be a junior and has never had big problems like this so far From the digging I have done the problem looks to be related to the graphics card or driver The only way I can boot successfully is to disable the Radeon card The display is then all screwed up of course I have disabled the on-board graphics and Radeon card and deleted the driver multiple times I have installed the latest and prior driver packages from HP with no luck The AMD card management tool does not recognize that the graphics card is present either see attached screenshot I have tried to do a system restore too but there was BSOD after Total War Rome II install only one available from before the game installation and it made no difference to the outcome I hope i covered the basic info that is needed to start down the evaluation path but let know if i missed anything I plan to take this to work with me for the next two BSOD after Total War Rome II install days so that I can try to keep plugging away at it Thanks mastman

This BSOD caused the other issue. Which is more serious.

You have switchable graphics. Mobile Intel(R) HD Graphics and Radeon (TM) HD 6770M. The mechanism is, usually the integrated graphics works. When needed, it switches to the dedicated GPU. Now, that BSOD caused the dedicated GPU malfunctioning.

So what appears that it is a multiple issue. Many a things needs to be fixed there. Even the laptop is an old one.

So, the best option there, I think, you disable the integrated Intel HD graphics (as the switchable graphics is always problematic). Disable Bluetooth too (it seems that you dont use it). Then go for a Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7 .... follow it step by step.

Hopefully your computer will work as good as you can expect.

Hi,

I recently got RTW and installed it on my laptop. It worked fine the very first time, and it ran smoothly. But when I tried to play again, it came up with a message which said that
'the program has requested the runtime to terminate it in an unusual way' and doesn't work. The only thing i can remember changing was the video settings, because i had had some problems on the computer with high spec games before, so i put them on the speed setting. I have uninstalled and installed it several timesnow , with no improvement. I also installed 1.3 & 1.5 patches, and again, no improvement.
The thing which bugs me is how it worked perfectly once, and now refuses to start.

Can anyone help?

A:Rome Total War - Runtime error

A:DirectX 9 Error: Rome Total War

Hello and Welcome to TSF!!!

Are you sure you downloaded XP graphic card drivers from HP's Web Site???
There are drivers for other operating systems, and it comes for both 32-bit and 64-bit operating system...

Do you know what version of OS you have on laptop???

Do you have already installed some graphic card drivers but they ended up corrupted somehow or you don't have installed graphic card drivers at all???

You can also download DirectX 9.0c from Microsoft's Web Site...

So, if you already have installed graphic card drivers, but they are corrupted, uninstall them,
restart laptop, install drivers, restart laptop, install DirectX 9.0c...

This should solve your problem...

Keep us posted...

Hey,

I just bought a new laptop, a Dell Studio XPS laptop with Windows Vista Deluxe 32-bit. I have successfully installed many programs, such as Microsoft Office, Firefox, iTunes, et cetera. However, when attempting to install Rome: Total War onto the laptop, it installs as if it would work, but then when I try to run the program, an error box pops up saying it cannot find DirectX 9.0 which it needs to run the program. Please reinstall DirectX and try again. Well, when I go onto Rome: Total War's CD, and try to install DirectX 9.0, it says it found a newer version and so it does not need to install, so it aborts the installation. However, Rome: Total War still does not work. This is a brand new laptop, but it still does not work, any advice?

A:Rome: Total War Vista Directx Error

SenorTomas, have you installed the driver for your video adapter card? And have you checked if it is working properly in the Device Manager?

Also, go to start-->Run and type dxdiag. You can see your version of directx there. Click on the various tabs, and see if in every tab, No problems were found is present.

Regards.

Hi njcummins.

Two things you have to do.

First, make it sure that the Crucial M4 CT064M4SSD2 2.5" 64GB SSD is running with the latest firmware version, Firmware Update 070H dated 04/02/2013.
Crucial.com Product Downloads - Firmware Updates
Also, the C drive (the SSD) is horribly out of space.

ITEMVALUEDrive C:Size 59.53 GB (63,915,945,984 bytes)Free Space 577.33 MB (605,376,512 bytes)
You must have to salvage some space (at least 7 GB, 10% of the disc) free to let the drive perform properly. Follow Hard Disk Space - Free Up and Recover . First of all, disable Hibernation.

Let us know the situation when both are done.

This situation is somehow common with ASUS Xonar. It causes this particular BSOD that we have noticed many a times. The fact is, the device is marketed by ASUS and the driver is developed by C-Media.

The drivers available with ASUS are rather old. If you can, you may tahe a look at USB Audio,PCIe audio,USB audio ic,USB sound chip--C-Media Electronics, Inc., but for that you need to know the chip type.

As a test at least, use the onboard grapgics and see if it is BSODing in the same way or not.

Let us know the results.

Counterfeit installations such as yours can contain heavily modified code that can cause the installation to behave it unexpected ways. Analysing BSODs and determining their causes on these sorts of installations is completely unreliable, and for this reason most analysts won't attempt it.

My recommendation is to install a genuine copy of Windows 7. This will minimise the problems you are experiencing and make subsequent diagnosis of BSODs far more reliable. Once you are running a genuine Windows 7 installation and are still experiencing BSODs, upload your new logs we will be happy to help you solve them.

Hello,

I've experienced two BSOD on my new gaming rig. The first was several days ago while exiting from a full screen Youtube video. The second happened moments ago while playing Rome II Total War. I have a hunch that it may be related to running MSI Afterburner, as the BSOD crashes started after I started using it instead of Asus GPU tweak.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Thanks,

A:BSOD while playing Rome 2 and exiting from fullscreen youtube vid.

joshykins, the file you uploaded doesn't contain any dump files.
Make sure windows is properly configured to generate them by following this tutorial:
Dump Files - Configure Windows to Create on BSOD
Other than that MSI-Afterburner is well known for causing bugchecks on Windows 7, regardless of the fact
that diagnosing an overclocked machine is useless being that running a part out of spec will
cause all sorts of misleading errors to spew out.
Please revert all overclocked components back to stock speed and remove MSI-Afterburner.
If you are still experiencing issues after the fact we are here to help .

Side note;
Your PC is logging a lot of heat related events i would look into that as well.
You can download Speccy to use for monitoring the temperature.

For the past several weeks, my computer will BSOD when running Eve Online and several other programs concurrently. Running three concurrent Eve clients will cause a BSOD within a couple minutes usually. I don't necessarily believe it's an Eve problem per se, it could be related to high memory or CPU usage, which three Eve clients definitely causes. I did a clean install of the latest NVIDIA driver yesterday, but saw no difference. It is crashing in ntoskrnl.exe. I have had this computer for about six months, and this just started happening recently. It's happened four times today alone.

k I posted a thread about rtw not being able to find directx, I solved the problem. I just had to change my hardware acceleration to full. Now I have another problem, the game starts and is fine until I click on "custom battle" or "prologue" or stuff that requires a load screen. So the load screen starts it loads most of it but then the music starts going fuzzy, stops and then everything freezes, forcing me to restart manually. PLEASE HELP if you need any specs just ask.

A:Rome Total War

Hmm, freezing is worse than crashing to desktop. Please post your specs, you must! Until then we can only tell you to turn down your settings or uninstall and re-install. If you do the latter then remember to manually delete the Creative Assembly folder after uninstalling and before reinstalling... Are your sound and graphics drivers updated? I hope you get this working, as RTW is a great game and Mundus Magnus is a great mod for it!

Oh, and one more thing... RTW does not like Windows Media Player 10. WMP 9 is needed to play the video's, and since a video is played when you start a new campaign, I suspect might be at fault... for now. Make sure you have Windows Media Player 9!

Till next time ~ShiVER~

Hello Guys, I just installed Rome: Total War, When I click play on the autorun it starts up and then crashes. I've found the problem, I seem to be missing the files in this directory:C:\Program Files\Activision\Rome - Total War\Data\animations\engine
I have the folders but they are just empty! I need the files! Thanks in advance!

Then you have to reinstall it. If then not work then return back to store where you bought it. Also is it CD version or Steam?

Yeah, the game won't load up. It was working great until I installed Medieval 2: Total War. Is there any way it can work, and does Medieval 2's superior DirectX and Media Player have anything to do with that?

Rome uses DirectX 9.0b & Media Player 9 and Medieval 2 uses 9.0c & Media Player 10.

Get back to me on this ASAP.

Nevermind, I found the problem. Turns out it was totally unrelated to what I thought the problem was.

I have been running Rome Total War for six months and was close to finishing the game when the cursor started to breed multiple images of itself and then after a week the programme started to crash to the desk top just as I tried to load the campaign.

I have run virus checks, defraged and made sure that there is enough memory.

If I uninstall and then reinstall will that help or will I lose all my saved games?

My computer runs Windows XP home edition /service pack 2/
Processor: AM (Athlon) XP 2100
1.74 Ghz
256 MB RAM

Thanks

Hey all,
A few days ago I bought a copy of Rome: Total War (gold edition) and since then I have installed it and got it working.
However, whenever I go into a battle, it often freezes and crashes to the desktop after a considerable amount of time. If I then try to start it up again then it tells me that DirectX couldn't be found and to reinstall the game.
My computer meets the minimum specs for this game, and as far as I can tell this shouldn't be happening.
Help, anyone?

A:Rome total war freezing

Hi

try going into my computer/c drive (or whatever drive rome total war is in) and install direct x that is on the disk. I don't think reinstalling rome total war has any effect. Also, in the game, you can tune down the amount of troops in each cohort. This really helps in game speed. Or you can do all the battles automatically, but that isn't very good. The computer is not good.

I recently installed windows XP as an upgrade from Windows ME.
Now when I try to play RTW I get the error message:

"Rome: Total War failed to find DirectX 9, which is required for the game to run.
Please reinstall DirectX."

However I have tried reinstalling directX (both the latest version ans the one on the RTW CD) but nothing seems to work. I have even tried re-installing RTW but that didn't help either!!

I was going to delete version 1.5 and see if that fixes it, but how do you do that. Would uninstalling the game from your computer work, though wouldn't it still be there.

what should i do?

A:rome total war directX9

Hi

Try going to my computer/c:drive (or whatever drive rome total war is in) and there should be an installation for direct x 9. Even if you have direct x 9, the game may not recognize it, so reinstalling the game would have no effect. installing the cds direct x should get it to work.

I've gotta problem with Rome Total War. The game keeps lagging. I meet all the minimum requirement:
Minimum System Requirements
- Processor: Yes
- RAM: 256MB
- Video Memory: 64MB
- Hard Drive Space: 2.9GB
- Operating System: Windows 98SE/ME/2000/XP
- DirectX Version: 9.0
My laptop has these:

2.0 Ghz P III
2GB RAM
256 MB Video card
Windows 7
DirectX 9.0

It used to run fine on Vista, but I've recently updated to W7.
I personally think the processor is the problem. When ever i quit RTW and look at CPU perfomance its at 100%.

Any ideas?

A:Rome Total War keeps lagging

Your problem has most likely sompthing to do with your CPU, probbably because windows 7 uses more.

otherwise check your graphics card settings, these might be on high quality. if you reduce it the performance will go up and quality goes down, but not a lot.

Here's my specs

I've already tried putting it on the lowest settings

Turning of v-sync and anti- aliasing

Do you think its just because my computer sucks though I've heard that people with even more worse computer have had no problem

I've also heard about something to do with finding the process for your mouse in windows task manager and putting it's priority to above normal, though isn't the task manager processes only for software, please help me

Hi guys, i installed a mod for rome total war and didn't like it. I think i just deleted the files instead of uninstalling first then deleteing the remaining files. So now the game thinks it is installed when it isn't and i can't uninstall or anything. Is there any way to get the game back?

Thanks in advance

Welcome to TSG, alec371.

You might try reinstalling the mod, then uninstalling it properly. Otherwise it might be overkill, but you can uninstall the game, then reinstall it.

Hi. On Christmas I got this brand new desktop. I downloaded one of my fav games, Rome Total War. After a couple of weeks of having the game, I downloaded a mod for it. I then reinstalled the game, but the mod was still in the game. So, well I deleted it properly. And for multiplayer, I need the 1.5 patch, witch I installed. But when I tried to play the multiplayer on Game Ranger, it said this "error:version incompatible:Barabrian Invasion1.5). I know you guys aren't genes, but would you know the problem? Is it the patch? Thanks if you respond.

Hey, everytime I try to reinstall Rome : Total War, I receive a message stating...

Error 1304 .Error writing to file C:\Program Files\Activision\Rome - Total War\Data\Terrain\battlefield\swamp\summer\swamp.tga.dds. Verify that you have access to that directory.

Also, I looked through my Program Files and found that an Activision file was still there, inside being that file listed above even though I had uninstalled the game. I could not remove the file being given the message... Cannot delete swamp.tga: Data error (cyclic redundancy check).

Any help at all would be most appreciated, thanks a lot.

A:Rome : Total War reinstallation problem

Did you try booting in safe mode and then trying to delete it?
Was there and mods installed last time, screenshots taken, extra maps, anything?
You can also try closing the program, looking at the files properties and note if anything is greyed out, then try shutting off almost everything that is running in taskmanager just in case some other program is using it, then try to delete it again.

I've been meaning to reinstall RTW over the last year or so, but haven't gotten back to it since I started medieval 2.

Hi there My situation to Total Need desktop. Need help! really can t see how I can have changed these in the last few months Rome: Total War crashes to desktop. Need help! Could installing iTunes and Quicktime have affected the game Seems unlikely to me but then again I don t really have a clue I tried following what Activision s tech support suggested doing namely quot reinstalling quot the Windows media player codecs found on the cd However this didn t help at all Is there some way to erase the codecs or uninstall the program to reset the media player settings Or wouldn t that help at all Are anyone capable of helping with this problem I d be extremely grateful to have this fixed Thanks in advance nbsp

A:Rome: Total War crashes to desktop. Need help!

I had the same problem, I couldn't view the movies in the game, it would just crash. However, installing the codecs in the setup file on the RTW CD fixed it for me...

Did you install any other codecs lately besides iTunes and Quicktime? For me, I had installed a big codec pack, and that apparently messed it up..

Having seen new extras that can be put on Rome, I re-installed it and all went well until I tried to start the game. A intro picture appears first, then a small box "Demo shield" etc and then the Activison page, the disc whirrs in the pc....then nothing....then the disc stops and I'm back looking at my desk top.
