Freezing, BSOD and Skype and Firefox constantly crashing?

Q: Freezing, BSOD and Skype and Firefox constantly crashing?

I've been getting BSODs for quite some time now, random freezing and now Skype and Firefox have started to crash randomly when before it was perfectly fine.

I think it might be a hardware issue but I'm unsure at this moment, I was hoping to know if any of you guys could help me find out. Thanks for your time.

Preferred Solution: Freezing, BSOD and Skype and Firefox constantly crashing?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I used Driver Verifier and as soon as I restarted it started BSODing instantly, couldn't even get into Windows.

No idea what's wrong, should I do a full reinstall?

Do some basic trouble shooting. This could be happening because of bad RAM or an underpowered Power Supply Unit. Download the ISO image for Memtest in my signature and burn the disc to CD using IMGBurn also in my signature. Remove all but one stick of RAM and boot off of the newly created CD and run the tests on each stick of RAM separately. If you get any errors, that stick is bad and needs to be replaced.
Thank you for providing most of your specs. Can you take a look at the PSU sticker and post the Make, Model #, and Wattage?

I have a Sony PGC-FX702 lap top which keeps freezing then crashing whenever it feels like it. I then have to turn the power off as ctrl+alt+delete doesn't work. When I turn the machine back on there is an error message prompting me to send an error report to Microsoft, which I do, but never get access to the error report. Any idea what could be wrong, I'm working on Windows XP?

A:Sony lap top Constantly Freezing & Crashing

You need to give your laptop to someone that has installed windows on their computer and tell them to reinstall windows xp. If the problem persists you may very well have a hardware problem (ram, faulty power supply, video card buggy).

Hopefully a reinstall of windows will solve the problem...

(since it sounds like the error occurs in microsoft internet explorer, I lean towards thinking it's a windows issue)

Symantec is known to not be the best in catching malware that might come into your system. I would try running Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and see if that finds anything. Download it from here: http://www.malwarebytes.org. Please then post its log back here! Thanks

I removed some add-on's to alleviate the load on the browser but I still get the dreaded "(Not Responding)" ******** here and there. I gota say almost every session with firefox I experience that. Im running win7 32-bit. I know these browsers are a heavy load, especially with all the possible add-on's but I think mine's crashin way to much. Are there "known tweaks" I'm unaware of?? It's becoming very annoying. TIA

I am having firefox or any other browser crash a huge amount of times during any given session. This has not been conected to a particular website, script, or any other static variable I can find.

I have uploaded the DDS file as directed. I was not able to run Root Repeal as it will not run on windows 7 64bit.

Thank you for any and all help.

Alright. This happened a long time ago, and I fixed it somehow. However, now it is happening again, and I cannot remember how I fixed it for the life of me. When a pop-up comes up, it freezes FireFox. The built in Pop-up blocker is on, but that's not the problem. I don't care for pop-ups, it's always fun to constantly click that X button every time one appears. But now, it will always freeze once I close out of it. Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Goomba.

A:FireFox constantly freezing.

Did you try to reinstall Mozilla Firefox yet?

That might be an easy solution to your problem.

If that doesn't work you might try to get a new user account for mozilla firefox which resets all of the settings back to default.

1. Close Firefox completely (select File > Exit from the main menu of Firefox).
2. Select Start > Run... from the Windows Start menu (use the search box on Vista).
3. Enter firefox.exe -ProfileManager and press ok
4. Click Create Profile (Follow steps and once finished...)
5. Delete the default profile you have there, and start to use the other one (newly made) one.

Hope this helps!

Thanks,

I hope this is in the right place.

I am constantly having to quit firefox and restart it because it keeps freezing up. I have spent a fortune on antispyware and still no resolution. A friend recommended Hijackthis and I did it, have a log and don't know where to start.

If I post my log, can someone help me out here. I'm in waaayyyy over my head.

Thanks

Hi there I have had a few problems with my custom built browsers files crashing. crashing, constantly BSOD, exe computer I believed at first BSOD, exe files constantly crashing, browsers crashing. that I had malware BSOD, exe files constantly crashing, browsers crashing. and virus issues however a nice technician on the virus forums said there was no problem I am receiving the dreaded Blue Screen of Death fairly frequently I am not playing any games just browsing the internet when it happens Secondly my browsers both Mozilla and IE are both crashing very frequently - Mozilla comes up with a report message saying it has crashed and asks me whether to send or not to send the report whereas IE reloads the tabs frequently but to a point the page cannot be reloaded and has to be closed down As well as this a lot of my executable files are crashing - I am getting error messages from things like java flash avg my BSOD, exe files constantly crashing, browsers crashing. network card windows messenger etc saying that they have crashed This problem is happening very frequently I cannot seem to go half an hour without browsing with no problem If anyone could help it would be VERY MUCH appreciated Thanks

A:BSOD, exe files constantly crashing, browsers crashing.

You need to post some hardware details about your custom built computer.
Something is unstable and it could well be the memory modules.

In addition, when you see a BSoD click details, it will generally state which executable caused the problem.

I would be tempted to look for a copy of memtest and run some memory diagnostics.

A:Programs and computer constantly freezing or crashing... is spyware the problem?

One thing that could be causing your problems is the fact that you have both Norton And AVG running. You should never run two antiviruses at the same time. They conflict with each other and cause all sorts of problems as well as decrease your protection. You need to pick one and get rid of the other.

Also you need to disable some of those unnecessary apps you have running at startup. They are draining your computers resources.

please bump

I understand that this forum is not for repeated cleanups/malware removal, however this infection came completely out of nowhere while following the practices and cleanup advice given to me last time. I'm really at a loss on how to resolve it.

Recently my Firefox has become very slow. It is constantly locking up on me. Is there some way to speed it up a bit?
Thanks

I'm constantly experiencing slow pages and sometimes pages just don't load at all. When this happens I exit Firefox and try to open up a new session but the get error messags saying to close the previos session which I did. I try to stop the process in Task Manager but no luck which in turn forces me to reboot all over again.

Any Ideas? This started happening afte I did clean install of Vista and reloaded my machine.

A:Firefox is freezing constantly and won't load some webpages

Hi,

I would start by asking if you have run all of your scans. I am particularly wondering about any malware scans if you don't have a scanner for that I would recommend one at malwarebytes.org. There is a free version that you can d/l and use. If you find that you do have malware on your computer then there are some routes that we can take.

After that I would make sure that you are able to reach those sites from a browser on your computer. I would recommend that you try IE, if you still have it. That way we can rule out the sites.

Lets start there and then go from there, and Welcome to TSF!!!

Cheers!

hey everyone! i've been having this issue for a while now and well Firefox simply uses A LOT of CPU usage
and my Adobe Flash keeps constantly crashing so often this had never happened before

Things i've tried
---------------
Used CCleaner to clean out everything on my browsers (except passwords and saved user info)
anti virus program etc....
Things i don't want to do
---------------------------
completely make firefox fresh (as in deleting all my add ons etc)
use other browsers.

A:Firefox taking a lot of CPU Usage + Adobe Flash constantly crashing

Hi:

To a large extent, RAM (memory) is there to be used.
Firefox will use what it needs, especially on content- and graphics-heavy sites.
That is done to provide you with the optimal browsing experience.
Re: CPU usage: you don't provide any data as to how much is "a lot", as far as your CPU usage is concerned?

It's not recommended to use CCleaner or other utilities to "clean" Firefox -- such cleaners and tweakers can actually damage a program.
The power users and experts over at forums.mozillazine.org suggest that one should let Firefox clean up after itself.

In any event, standard troubleshooting for Firefox begins here:

Standard Diagnostic - Firefox
or
Fix slowness, crashing, error messages and other problems

>> Most Firefox problems originate in the user's profile, not in the program itself. The initial diagnostic steps will not cause you to "lose" anything (bookmarks, extensions, settings, etc.). However, if your profile is seriously screwed up, at some point, the best strategy is to start with a new, fresh, clean, undamaged profile. If it gets to that step, you can back up your bookmarks and import them into the new profile. But you will be better served starting from scratch with extensions and add-ons and settings tweaks.

--------------
For Adobe Flash Player (if you wish to continue to use it, even though it is being replaced by HTML5, as explained HERE), you might want to start fresh:
Download, save and follow the instructions to run the Flash Player uninstaller.
Go to this site and download the current Plug-In version of Flash Player for Windows, 18.0.0.232 (this site will give you ONLY the Flash Player installer, without any bundled crapware).
Run the installer.
(Do the same with the Active X version of Flash Player, if you also use MS Internet Explorer)
Let us know how it goes.
Thanks,
MM

I had been  posting on this forum (http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/500149/hacktoolwin32keygen/page-2#entry3098408) am currently at number 1 of 6 tasks hope you can help.

I am now trying to learn how to post.

My OS is windows 7

A:BSOD crashing constantly

There is not a lot yet to research at this time, so I will go back over the errors.
Please complete all of these scans and post the logs back here

EDIT -
I should have picked this up earlier - McAfee VirusScan Enterprise and MSE are both installed .............
MSE will never work with McAfee VirusScan Enterprise installed beside it - Remove one Now -

First step without the scans -
Click on this M/soft FixIt to reset your Hosts file http://go.microsoft.com/?linkid=9668866
Click Run and follow the basic instructions -

Scan your machine with ESET OnlineScan
1.Hold down Control and click HERE to open ESET OnlineScan in a new window.
2.Click the ESET Online Scanner button.
3.NOTE :.For alternate browsers only: (Microsoft Internet Explorer users can skip these steps)

- 1.Click on esetsmartinstaller_enu.exe to download the ESET Smart Installer. Save it to your desktop.
- 2.Double click on the ESET Online Scanner icon on your desktop.

4.Check "YES, I accept the Terms of Use."
 5.Click the Start button.
6.Accept any security warnings from your browser.
7.Under scan settings, check "Scan Archives" and "Remove found threats"
8.Click Advanced settings and select the following:Scan potentially unwanted applications
Scan for potentially unsafe applications
Enable Anti-Stealth technology
9.ESET will then download updates for itself, install itself, and begin scanning your computer. Please be patient as this will take some time to download the program for a first time, and then download updated data base (1 to 2  hours is not unusual)
10.When the scan completes, click List Threats
11.Click Export, and save the file to your desktop using a unique name, such as ESETScan.
- Include the contents of this report in your next reply.
12.Click the Back button.
13.Click the Finish button

If you have any of these programs installed, please Update prior to any scan -

Download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware Free (aka MBAM)
* Double-click mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program.
* At the end, be sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
* If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
* Once the program has loaded, select Perform quick scan, then click Scan.
* When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
* Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
* When completed, a log will open in Notepad.
* Post the log back here.
Be sure to reboot the computer after you post the log.

 Download SUPERAntiSpyware Free (aka SAS)
* Double-click SAS -setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program.
* At the end, be sure to Check for Updates to be sure it is current
* If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
* Once the program has loaded, select Perform quick scan, then click Scan.
* When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
* Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
* When completed, a log will open in Notepad.
* Post the log back here.
Be sure to reboot the computer after you post the log.

Please download AdwCleaner by Xplode onto your desktop.
*Close all open programs and internet browsers.
*Double click on adwcleaner.exe to run the tool.
*Click on Delete.
*Confirm each time with Ok.
* NOTE : Your computer will be rebooted automatically.
*A text file will open after the restart.
*Please post the contents of that logfile with your next reply.
*You can find the logfile at C:\AdwCleaner[S1].txt as well.

Please download Junkware Removal Tool by thisisu to your desktopShut down your protection software now to avoid potential conflicts.
Run the tool by double-clicking it. If you are using Windows Vista, 7, or 8; instead of double-clicki... Read more

Both sites are also having problems with YouTube.

My biggest FireFox problems started with FireFox 2; DeviantArt won't display right, even though it supports FF. & I can't play the Zero Punctuation videos at escapistmagazine.com, which lists possible FF add-on errors, but even after deactivating the listed add-ons, I still couldn't get the videos to play.

The FF crashing started after Mozilla's recent browser update to FF3 & I haven't added any add-ons in months. Explorer has been freezing & crashing since Explorer 7, but got worse with Explorer 8. Explorer 7 had severe problems displaying my online college's web page.

I have the latest versions of ShockWave, JavaScript, & AdobeFlash.

A:Firefox 3 & Exlorer 8 both keep freezing &/or crashing.

Does it work normally in Firefox Safe-Mode? (Programs -> Mozilla Firefox -> Firefox safe-mode)

Ever since installing windows 8 rtm i have had to use chrome which is ok but not ideal for me. Firefox has been crashing very very often on rtm. Also when it isnt crashing left and right it just flat out freezes and i have to wait a while for it to respond again. It did not do this on dev or consumer previews or windows 7. I have latest drivers for win8 from ati and all my other drivers are up to date as well. Why is Firefox doing this for me, any solutions? I already tried re installing the rtm fwiw

A:Random firefox freezing/crashing?

Same problem here, but on release preview.

Firefox version: 3.0.2.
Explorer 8 Beta.
Windows XP SP3.
Sony Vaio VGC-RB40.

any other specs required?

Both crash most frequently on Youtube, but don't have problems with any other video sites, like Homestar Runner or GameTrailers.

Incidently, my parents & uncle have the same type of computer & were all bought at the same time, but unlike theirs, mine didn't fail shortly after the warentee died. Did my adding a graphics hard have anything to do with it? My parents don't know spit about computers, but should I be worried?

Hi I recently reinstalled my OS and all my applications and did all the Windows updates on my Acer One Happy netbook running Windows Starter and Firefox using BSOD Skype I previously had a problem BSOD with Acer Rapid Storage Technology a number of months ago and was told to delete it The problem was associated with Hibernation and Sleep modes though This time I was in the middle of a long Skype call and tried to access a website which I have never had a problem with in the past in Firefox at the same time Firefox gave me a quot Not Responding quot message for a while then BSOD I was wondering if you could take a look and see if it was just a fluke or whether I'm having a problem with Acer Rapid Storage Technology again or something else Acer also has some pre-installed plug-in with Skype that I was not sure whether to allow it to run or not so I am wondering if I should just uninstall that Thank you for any help you can give Link

I have a new self built gaming desktop system running Windows 8.1.   I was having some initial problems but after updating all of the drivers and running a Widows System Repair the system ran fine for 3 or 4 days.

Today the system stared crashing (BSOD) with blue screen messages stating memory_management and IRQL_not_less_or_equal error messages.  I'm not aware of any new software or drivers that were installed in the past few days.  Sometimes it will crash immediately after a reboot other times it will run for 15 to 20 minutes before crashing.

In the Event Viewer System log I see a message stating The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck Event ID 1001.

Looking for any suggestions or help to get the system running stable again. Please let me know what system information would be helpful in troubleshooting.

Good Day,

For about the past two weeks, i have been encountering some problems with my PC which include ...

- PC freezing during use (which requires a restart because not even CTRL+ALT+DELETE works)

- About every other day while booting up a message stating "Reboot and Select Proper Boot Device or Insert Boot Media in selected Boot device."

- And finally the BSOD about three times during the past two weeks

I'm not sure of the cause, but i thought i'd start by considering it a virus/malware/spyware issue ....

I downloaded dds.scr and tried running it but i get a message stating "This tool does not support your operating system" ....

I run Windows Vista Ultimate, 64-bit, Service Pack 1

Thank You for any help ....

A:[SOLVED] Computer constantly giving BSOD + DWM keeps crashing.

Now, I'm using windows 7, and I've been getting these constant crashes and bluescreens for a few months now, it happens at least once a day and sometimes up to 4 times a day.

I have tried everything. I've run memory tests. I've formatted and re-installed windows. I've stress tested my computer to the point where I didnt have any ram left or CPU usage ( turned on a ton of programs to see if it would burn itself out for some reason ) and so far, everything has come out clean, but it just keeps going.

Yesterday I decided to just take a look inside the computer so I took everything apart and cleaned it, put it back together and it continued to crash and be a ****.

Then I noticed that my GFX card was giving a bit of noise so I did this thing where you open it up and put some oil in the fan to make it run smoother, that worked but it has done nothing for my crashing issues.

These problems started happening after my little sister unplugged my computer by accident and after that it takes the computer a while to get past the loading screen for the motherboard ( the blue one that just says the type of motherboard I have ) and, ofcourse, the aforementioned bluescreens and DWM( Desktop window manager ) crashes.

Now, I'm begging you. I NEED HELP. I'm going nuts! If you would like the bluescreen information, then I'd be more than happy to send you the .dmp files that have been popping up =).

Thanks in advance!

- Ps. Sorry for re-posting, but I saw the sticky about this place afterwards.

I was playing Dota 2 on my laptop when I saw several small pixelated artifacts moving on the screen. I decided to alt-tab to see if my eyes were playing tricks on me, and the screen went black and I couldn't do anything. The screen was slowly flashing for awhile until there was a popup saying "Display driver has stopped responding and has recovered."

It continued to flash until I got a BSOD saying DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL (igdkmd64.sys). I rebooted the computer only to have it do the same thing on the start screen with the artifacts still there until I got a BSOD again.

I'm now typing this in safe mode since I can't start up normally because of the constant crashing. Can anyone help me?

OS: Windows 8.1 64 bit

CPU: Intel Core i7-4700MQ

A:BSOD playing a game, display driver constantly crashing

Hi jadz45122 & Welcome to the forums ^_^,

I have analysed your dump files and below has been provided an analysis of the same for informative purposes :-
VIDEO_TDR_FAILURE (116)
Attempt to reset the display driver and recover from timeout failed.
Arguments:
Arg1: ffffe000c3c42010, Optional pointer to internal TDR recovery context (TDR_RECOVERY_CONTEXT).
Arg2: fffff8005b490d90, The pointer into responsible device driver module (e.g. owner tag).
Arg3: 0000000000000000, Optional error code (NTSTATUS) of the last failed operation.
Arg4: 000000000000000d, Optional internal context dependent data.

So, according to the dump file, the 3rd argument is 0 which means the operation completed successfully yet the system crashed. Sounds strange right?
According to your description, if you are getting artifacts, that would be most likely a hardware problem.
Could you please perform the Furmark and check the temperatures?

FurMark Video Stress Test - free from here: FurMark: VGA Stress Test, Graphics Card and GPU Stability Test, Burn-in Test, OpenGL Benchmark and GPU Temperature | oZone3D.Net
FurMark Setup:
- If you have more than one GPU, select Multi-GPU during setup
- In the Run mode box, select "Stability Test" and "Log GPU Temperature"
Click "Go" to start the test (Looks like it's "BURN-IN test" now)
- Run the test until the GPU temperature maxes out - or until you start having problems (whichever comes first).
NOTE: Set the alarm to go off at 90?C. Then watch the system from that point on. If the system doesn't display a temperature, watch it constantly and turn it off at the first sign of video problems. DO NOT leave it it unmonitored, it can DAMAGE your video card!!!
If the temperature gets above 100?C, quit the test - the video card is overheating.
- Click "Quit" to exit

What you are looking for:
- excessive heat from the GPU (report back with anything over 90?C)
- problems with the video display (picture is distorted or jumbled, picture turns black, etc)
- problems reported by the program (I haven't seen this, but "just in case")[/quote]

Please report the temperatures or any problems. Let me know how it goes ^_^.

I recently purchased an MSi Radeon BSOD constantly crashing, Display 0x00000116 frequent drivers - R OC Edition It was working flawlessly Display drivers constantly crashing, frequent BSOD - 0x00000116 playing Wildstar Battlefield and League of Legends up until Saturday when I was in the middle of playing Wildstar and my screen went black and gave me a BSOD then automatically restarted my computer Ever since that point whenever I attempt to open basically any application whether it be Firefox Chrome or any sort of game my screen will freeze up and go black then come back on with a notification that my AMD display drivers stopped responding and were recovered successfully I can't even access the Catalyst Control Center Occasionally if I don't leave the offending program in time my computer will eventually give me BSOD x quot an attempt to reset the display driver and recover from a timeout failed quot This only occurs when the drivers are installed enabled I've tried several different graphics drivers including the ones on the CD ones available to me on the MSi manufacturer's website latest stable and beta drivers from AMD and even previous versions of drivers All with the same or similar effect I've reinstalled fresh copies of Windows twice now to no effect It seems like the only programs that I CAN use without incident are the pre-installed copy of Internet Explorer that comes with Windows and Steam -- but only Steam no games

A:Display drivers constantly crashing, frequent BSOD - 0x00000116

I'm thinking that it's a bad GPU.

Code:
BugCheck 116, {fffffa8002fa14e0, fffff88003d06d88, 0, d}
0x116 errors aren't typical BSODs in the sense that they only occur because the graphics card hangs so Windows attempts to reset the display and fails within the allocated time interval.
This can occur by bad display drivers or faulty GPUs.

The first clue is that you've a lot drivers but nothing helps.

Code:
0: kd> u fffff88003d06d88
atikmpag+0xbd88:
fffff880`03d06d88 4883ec28 sub rsp,28h

fffff880`03d06d95 4885c9 test rcx,rcx
fffff880`03d06d98 742e je atikmpag+0xbdc8 (fffff880`03d06dc8)
fffff880`03d06d9a 4885d2 test rdx,rdx
fffff880`03d06d9d 7429 je atikmpag+0xbdc8 (fffff880`03d06dc8)
fffff880`03d06d9f e8b4340000 call atikmpag+0xf258 (fffff880`03d0a258)
The other clue is the error code which is null, this means the last operation was successful.

Stress test your graphics card with Furmark

I recommend running it for around 30 minutes

   Warning

Furmark will increase the temperature of your GPU rapidly so keep and eye on your temperatures

Have a friends old Compaq SR5540AN here and he went to use it after a long spell of it being idle and it just would start he said.

Turns out that it starts but goes to all sorts of blue screens and I have tried safe mode etc etc and even stuck an old XP drive in it and it went for a while but the Vista which was perfectly ok is now cycling back to the factory restore screen and I am not sure what this could be.

Have tested most of the hardware such as HDD RAM sticks and stuff so am beginning to think the mobo may be gone. Any ideas please ?

I have scanned my computer with Avira couple of times now and only found 1 trojan and 1 suspicious file.

Please tell me what I need to do/provide for you guys to solve my problem.

I'll get this out of the way first I'm not sure what's wrong with my computer and I'm very sorry if I use any wrong terminology or if I'm posting in the wrong section or if I'm not providing Freezing/crashing/BSOD enough information I don't need a fantastic answer Even just a quot hardware quot vs quot software quot guess Freezing/crashing/BSOD or a point in any direction would be great Here is my system Acer Aspire M desktop Intel Core Quad Q GHz Freezing/crashing/BSOD GB RAM Nvidia GTX Windows Vista home edition came installed on the system I bought my computer about years ago and it's been working without any flaws up until about a month ago Every now and then it would start to slowly over the course of about seconds freeze up until nothing responded and nothing was clickable anymore It was only doing it once or twice a week at first so I wasn't TOO worried I'd just restart it Sometimes it did a disk check when restarted These freezes seemed to happen more often when I was downloading anything in firefox had a lot of windows open at once or was doing something resource demanding Kind of like my computer was some -year outdated system Lately it's been freezing up more often It started occasionally giving me BSODs as well I tried the following solutions -doing a system restore to before the freezes occured -running virus checks macafee spybot AVG all came up clean -defragmenting runing clean ups -making sure the internal temperature was okay -reseating the RAM checking the inside for dust or loose wires Then I managed to read a BSOD long enough to see quot bad pool header quot and read somewhere that it could mean my drivers need updating I updated my sound driver and nothing changed I tried to update my graphics driver and it froze during the update Tried again or times with the same result Then I started in safe mode and installed the driver After that I can't start my computer at all Whenever I try to start up I get a message saying quot The application failed to initiate properly xc Click OK to terminate the application quot I can get into safe mode but nothing else I don't have the first idea what's causing this since nothing I've tried has helped or given even a little clue as to what's going on If anyone has any ideas I'd love to hear them I realize my problem and information are vague If I can be sure it would be fixed by reformating I'm willing to do that I'd go buy windows but I'd have to be sure it's a software issue first a not a hardware one Thanks for your time

Windows 7 Professional 64 Bit
Upgrade from XP 32 Bit
All hardware detailed in profile
Custom build from the beginning of June, so hardware only a few months old

Worked fine for a couple months and then started randomly crashing. MSE scan showed infections but cleared them. Symptoms remained so I tested with an Ubuntu live cd to try to rule out hardware issues. It didn't crash after an extended period of time so I formatted the hard drive and did a full reinstall. (This time I made back ups) Worked fine for a week and now symptoms are back.

Thanks in advance for your help.

A:7 Pro 64 Bit BSOD, Crashing, Freezing

Catalyst Control Center and NEC USB 3.0 may have issues with Win7. Nothing to do right now, but please keep in mind. Uninstall if you want to be sure.

Only one memory dump and it points to the OS kernel (core). It's not likely that this is the issue. As it's a common driver issue, I'd suggest running Driver Verifier according to these instructions:

Quote:
Using Driver Verifier is an iffy proposition. Most times it'll crash and it'll tell you what the driver is. But sometimes it'll crash and won't tell you the driver. Other times it'll crash before you can log in to Windows. If you can't get to Safe Mode, then you'll have to resort to offline editing of the registry to disable Driver Verifier.

So, I'd suggest that you first backup your stuff and then make sure you've got access to another computer so you can contact us if problems arise. Then make a System Restore point (so you can restore the system using the Vista/Win7 Startup Repair feature).

Then, here's the procedure:
- Go to Start and type in "verifier" (without the quotes) and press Enter
- Select "Create custom settings (for code developers)" and click "Next"
- Select "Select individual settings from a full list" and click "Next"
- Select everything EXCEPT FOR "Low Resource Simulation" and click "Next"
NOTE: You can use Low Resource Simulation if you'd like. From my limited experimentation it makes the BSOD's come faster.
- Select "Select driver names from a list" and click "Next"
Then select all drivers NOT provided by Microsoft and click "Next"
- Select "Finish" on the next page.

Reboot the system and wait for it to crash to the Blue Screen. Continue to use your system normally, and if you know what causes the crash, do that repeatedly. The objective here is to get the system to crash because Driver Verifier is stressing the drivers out. If it doesn't crash for you, then let it run for at least 36 hours of continuous operation (an estimate on my part).

Reboot into Windows (after the crash) and turn off Driver Verifier by going back in and selecting "Delete existing settings" on the first page, then locate and zip up the memory dump file and upload it with your next post.

If you can't get into Windows because it crashes too soon, try it in Safe Mode.
If you can't get into Safe Mode, try using System Restore from your installation DVD to set the system back to the previous restore point that you created.

If that doesn't work, post back and we'll have to see about fixing the registry entry off-line:

Code:
Delete these registry keys (works in XP, Vista, Win7):
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management\VerifyDrivers
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management\VerifyDriverLevel

Hi guys, I'm new to this forum. In the past when I would search Google this forum has provided valuable incite into resolving issues. I have one of which I do not know the culprit and am coming here to see if someone could help. I built a new PC and I've been having intermittent freezing issues with it and I don't know what it could be. I've updated the BIOS on the motherboard, check my components for the latest drivers. Yesterday I installed the latest drivers for my graphics card and that actually seemed to stabilize the machine. However about an hour it froze, and this time it gave me a BSOD, before when it would freeze I would have to hold the power button down. So I'm attaching my DMP file in hopes someone could offer advice. Thanks for reading, awaiting your response.

A:Intermittent Freezing/Crashing - only 1 BSOD

Well, 1 dump file is better than none - so let's have a look at what you've got.

The memory dump is a STOP 0x1E error (more info here: BSOD Index )

It blames ntkrnlmp.exe - the kernel (core) of the Operating System. Because of this, ntkrnlmp.exe probably isn't to blame. If it was, you'd be experiencing many more problems than you are having now.

The dump file shows that you have an older driver for a device manufactured by Silex Technologies. Please remove the device and it's drivers to see if that stops the BSOD's. If it does, then please download the latest Win7 driver from the Silex website (Silex Support & Downloads ) and install it (if you wish to use the device again)

If all of this doesn't fix the problem, then please do the following:

Quote:
H/W Diagnostics:
Please start by running these bootable hardware diagnostics:
Memory Diagnostics (read the details at the link)
HD Diagnostic (read the details at the link)

Also, please run one of these free, independent online malware scans to ensure that your current protection hasn't been compromised: Malware (read the details at the link)

Then, if it's still BSODing - please run Driver Verifier according to these directions:

Quote:

So I can still run my computer, and use windows, it just says "Windows 7 build 7600 This copy is not genuine" in the bottom corner of my screen, and I get counter-fitting errors occasionally saying I may be a victim of counter-fitting.

So, that's not really a problem. But, ever since I've gotten it back, my laptop crashes frequently. Sometimes I get BSOD. Most often though, it just freezes, and shuts off, without BSOD. Or, sometimes it freezes, i'll let it sit for 15 mins, and it will take me to the account login screen, and log my account off.

This hasn't happened since I got it back and haven't been able to make my copy of windows 7 home premium genuine (since I can't find the cd key).

Some specs of my computer are:

4gb ram

i7 quad core processor

NVidia Geforce 260M - sometimes my screen will go black, then come back, and I'll get and error saying nvidia stopped working but has recovered ( this doesn't cause a crash though)

also, I am using an air/fan cooling pad. (my previous one broke in the spring, probably why my motherboard over heated and warped) but i've been using a new cooling pad since I got it back, so I don't think that's the problem. (Don't know how to check temps though)

What seems to cause the crash -

This part is kinda tricky, cause sometimes it's just when I'm sitting there. Sometimes it's when I open a game. But sometimes I can run 4 versions of that game and be fine, but then sometimes when I open one it will freeze. Sometimes it will freeze opening 2, 3, or on the 4th.

Sometimes 2 tabs in firefox does it,other times, i'll have 7+tabs for a long time no freeze. Sometimes 7 tabs freezes it though.

So, I'm sorry I can't pin point exactly what is causing it, and I don't have a BSOD error code, because the BSOD has only happened twice (before I thought to come here). I'm not sure if it's windows not being genuine, or if it's too many background programs (which idk how to check for).

We do need the DMP file as it contains the only record of the sequence of events leading up to the crash, what drivers were loaded, and which one was responsible.

You may be able to get the DMP files without crashing by booting into safe mode (F8) with networking.

If the RAM is OK, check the hard drive.

Norton 360 will not find any threats. It is among the first disabled by viruses, and trying to use it when a virus already has control means that the virus has the upper hand and can hide itself as well as disable Norton's ability to find it. But this does not sound like a virus.

Running chkdsk /r from your booted Windows DVD will show any bad clusters. Look at the report at the end.

It occasionally crashes when windows is starting up Windows logo I will occasionally get a BSOD I've not been able to get much info from it though since it restarts before i can read anything useful Although i did get quot IRQL NOT LESS OR EQUAL quot and i -think- a STOP I can confirm if needed When i do manage to get into windows It will just freeze BSOD, Freezing, Chkdsk Crashing. Completely unresponsive Crashes BSOD, Freezing, Chkdsk Crashing. on ChkDsk The steps i have taken to find the problem Changed all of my RAM Tried single sticks Changed sockets - It doesn't seem to be a RAM issue unless all are Faulty I have attempted to do a Chkdsk It crashed during step It will still crash BSOD in safemode Now for the computer itself Video card - ATI HD - months old CPU - Q Quad Core GB RAM gb HDD i can check brand if required MoBo - ASUS P QL EPU Cheapish replacement for broken MoBo - months old watt PSU I personally have a feeling its the HD dying But i want opinions before i start replacing parts Any help on this problem is greatly appreciated I can't rely on running programs to find the solution i guess since it crashes so much Thank you

Hello and welcome to the forums! My secret agent name on the forums is SweetTech (you can call me ST for short), it's a pleasure to meet you. I am very sorry for the delay in responding, but as you can see we are at the moment being flooded with logs which, when paired with the never-ending shortage of helpers, resulted in the delayed responding to your thread.I would be glad to take a look at your log and help you with solving any malware problems. If you have since resolved the issues you were originally experiencing, or have received help elsewhere, please inform me so that this topic can be closed. If you have not, please adhere to the guidelines below and then follow instructions as outlined further below:Logs from malware removal programs (OTL is one of them) can take some time to analyze. I need you to be patient while I analyze any logs you post. Please remember, I am a volunteer, and I do have a life outside of these forums.
Please make sure to carefully read any instruction that I give you. Attention to detail is important! Since I cannot see or directly interact with your computer I am dependent on you to "be my eyes" and provide as much information as you can regarding the current state of your computer.
If you're not sure, or if something unexpected happens, do NOT continue! Stop and ask!
If I instruct you to download a specific tool in which you already have, please delete the copy that you have and re-download the tool. The reason I ask you to do this is because these tools are updated fairly regularly.
Do not do things I do not ask for, such as running a spyware scan on your computer. The one thing that you should always do, is to make sure sure that your anti-virus definitions are up-to-date!
Please do not use the Attachment feature for any log file. Do a Copy/Paste of the entire contents of the log file and submit it inside your post.
I am going to stick with you until ALL malware is gone from your system. I would appreciate it if you would do the same. From this point, we're in this together ;)
Because of this, you must reply within three days failure to reply will result in the topic being closed!
Please do not PM me directly for help. If you have any questions, post them in this topic.
Lastly, I am no magician. I will try very hard to fix your issues, but no promises can be made. Also be aware that some infections are so severe that you might need to resort to reformatting and reinstalling your operating system.
Don't worry, this only happens in severe cases, but it sadly does happen. Be prepared to back up your data. Have means of backing up your data available.____________________________________________________Rootkit UnHooker (RkU)Please download Rootkit Unhooker from one of the following links and save it to your desktop.Link 1 (.exe file)Link 2 (zipped file)Link 3 (.rar file)In order to use this tool if you downloaded from either of the second two links, you will need to extract the RKUnhookerLE.exe file using a program capable of extracing ZIP and RAR compressed files. Yesterday when I turned on my PC it froze while booting on the drivers loading screen freezing at AtiPciE sys It did the same thing when I tried booting into Safe Mode I put in my Win DVD and ran the startup repair after which my PC was able at & BSOD/Crashing boot Freezing to boot into Windows normally and worked just fine for hours This morning I booted my PC up and it was able to boot up into Windows but shortly thereafter crashed and gave a BSOD I have tried uninstalling the ATi drivers and running driversweep then re-installing the ATi drivers in safe mode but I kept getting an error when Freezing at boot & BSOD/Crashing trying to install the driver I then ran a system restore but that has not fixed it either I also ran a spyware and virus check while in Safe Mode but that did not help either When trying to install the ATi drivers while not in safe mode I did not get the error message but the PC crashes every time during the installation and gives a BSOD I'm hoping I won't have to reformat but I can not think of anything else to try Any ideas

If any Gigabyte software is installed, remove it. Gigabyte software is known for causing bluescreens.

   Warning
Programs that claim to update your drivers install either the wrong or corrupted drivers.
If you have installed any driver with Driver Booster 3, please remove them as it may cause trouble.

hi, I was wondering if you guys could give me a hand. I have a Gateway laptop running Vista, it is approximately 4-5 years old and it recently started crashing to BSOD and freezes up upon reboot after 20-30 mins. I disassembled the CPU cooling fan area and it was loaded with dust bunnies, completely obstructed. I cleaned it out, but it didn't change its behavior. I wrote down the relevant BSOD info. It was "Kernel stack in-page error" and STOP: 0x00000077 (0x00000001, 0x00000000, 0x00000000, 0xAAB6F8D0). I believe I have ruled out a virus because whether or not I am in safe mode it still crashes, most likely pointing to a hardware issue. Malwarebytes also is unable to find anything. I was hoping you could recommend a course of action, I am willing to purchase a new laptop however I want to rule out a simple or cheap fix.

thanks,
Mike

If I was going to work on your computer, I would first install Crapcleaner, Free Windows Registry repair, and Spybot Search and Destroy.
I would run them in that order, then CC again, then Reg. Rep. again. Find out whats in your startup and eliminate anything you don't need. If those things don't work, it might be hardware. Running for 20 mins. then crashing is suspicious, although if you have a software conflict, you can have strange things happen.

Hello I am hoping some of the great people here might Constant crashing, restarting BSOD, freezing, be able to help me identify whatever is causing my problems with windows Constant crashing, freezing, BSOD, restarting So first off here is some basic info about the system Windows bit OEM Hardware maybe to years old Computer home built ran for years flawlessly on XP and then flawlessly with a pirated version of win for a short time before buying Windows since it seems to be a fantastic OS The OS is as old as yesterday I have formatted many times in the last week trying to figure out what is wrong by limiting the installed software The system seems to work quot better quot before I install any drivers but it still crashed once even with the barebones system fresh installed Currently I have installed the mobo drivers graphics drivers and that's it The computer ran fine for the rest of the day I turn it on this morning and it crashed within minutes of start up simply locking up and the computer repeating the quot beep beep beep beep quot sound from the mobos speaker The crashes are usually freezes where the computer simply locks up and becomes unresponsive however sometimes it produces a BSOD one time the screen just went blue and it didn't even write any text out to it Sometimes it also just restarts Before I formatted for a while it would do a rather bizarre thing such that when it started up it would quot freeze quot for minutes at a time seemingly as it extremely slowly loaded the gui objects in short bursts and then would run ok until I opened internet explorer for instance where it would freeze again for moments while it seemingly loaded screen objects Anyhow I am guessing some part of my hardware is faulty since I cant imagine this is a software issue The only thing that still makes me think it might be software is the face that after a format and a fresh install the computer will run perfectly for ages until it updates and restarts Hopefully someone can help point me in the right direction thanks for your time I have attached a zip with the files from the Windows NT BSOD v jcgriff and also the perfmon report as well as the results from quot SF Diag Tool quot found on these forums P S I ran memtest for passes with no errors just in case that is important too

Hi,
There is no dump file in your attached files so make sure your system is configured to generated the dump.
Dont use any cleaner program and next time you get bsod, attach the dumps here.

I have a custom build PC that i've been using since Feb and up until a few weeks ago it had been Fresh on Install Crashing/Freezing/BSOD working great Randomly I started to notice that it would crash and BSOD at random times maybe - times a week This would happen overnight or immediately after i was finished watching a movie streamed to my Apple TV in the living room I don't do much gaming HD graphics on my PC I finally had Crashing/Freezing/BSOD on Fresh Install enough and decided to reimage the original drive Corsair F SSD - GB but it immediatly BSOD once the base Win Ent image was loaded I purchased a new drive SanDisk Extreme SSD - GB reimaged was able to load the MB drivers and utilities but failed halfway through the Windows Updates For the past week and a half I've done a TON of things to troubleshoot and determine what's wrong but the crashing and BSOD is still very random and inconsistent I've since reimaged about times each time installing fewer drivers and applications I've updated the BIOS to the latest version reset to default BIOS settings and removed the battery to clear CMOS swapped RAM to different sockets ran a memory test overnight no errors removed all extra hard drives checked the PSU voltage and temps are normal I have been using the PC for the past mins or so with no issues but it seems as if i open Youtube to watch a video or tutorial then it will freeze and crash I simply can't pinpoint the issue

Hi Krazey, nice to see you started your own thread... The BSOD has to do with the Intel video driver. What are your computer specs? Are you using anything Norton?

Title explains it all. Dumps and specs below. My system temps seem to be fine so I don't think high temps to be a root cause. Thanks!

A:BSOD WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR. Freezing and crashing at random times.

Hello aritra.

Please re-upload the zip file, it's empty.

But your error is also known as a STOP 0x124 which stems from a hardware complaint.

You can read about it here: STOP 0x124.

Cheers, Boris

So I recently upgraded to Windows 10 from Windows 7 , 10 was for free so why not. It was okay for weeks and i went on a holiday for 3 weeks. When i came back and plugged my PC back in it started to crash to BSOD or it just totally shuts off and restarts. I am also having these freezing problems which force me to manually turn off my PC ( which i know isn't the best for the PC) . Most of the time the crashing happens when Im playing games like Fallout 4,Dead by Daylight. I didn't notice any problems when being in a program like Photoshop CC . I tried programs that find system problems , scanned my hard disk and Ram too , no problems there , tried changing my power supply if its getting enough power . No fixes.

I have been noticing that my computer is freezing and crashing when I am watching a video online whether that is on Netflix or other video hosting websites. However at other times when I am browsing or when I am playing games the computer doesn't crash or anything or freeze so I would greatly appreciate your support on this matter.

I don't know where to even begin with this but my laptop is almost unusable now It started about a month ago with a few freezes each few days mostly when watching videos online It went on like that for about weeks but this last week has been awful It's Freezing, Crashing BSoD-Minidump being not Driver Display created, freezing and or blue screening over dozen times a day Sometimes it will just completely lock up and give me no choice but hit the power button to restart it Whenever it does actually blue screen I get the quot A clock interrupt was not BSoD-Minidump not being created, Freezing, Display Driver Crashing received on a second quot message And it's not creating a mini-dump file for the crashes either I've set it to do a kernal memory dump then to do a small memory dump but either one BSoD-Minidump not being created, Freezing, Display Driver Crashing won't happen After it blue screens it just sits there saying quot Collecting data for crash dump Initializing disk for crash dump quot But the percentage numbers never pop up It just sits there and I have manually turn the laptop off and back on again with no crash dump file being created I've let it sit there up to minutes before with nothing happening This why i'm not attaching a dump file log since there isn't one to begin with I don't know if this is related but during this time the display on the screen has been flickering quite a bit when I first turn it on If I jiggle it around a little I can normally get it to stop Also within the past week i've had a lot of mini-freezes a black screen and then it comes back with a message saying quot Display driver NVIDIA Windows Kernal Mode Driver Version stopped responding and has successfully recovered quot This happens just a couple times every day just about Considering that started right when the real freezing problems began I thought they might be related but i'm not sure how The internal fans seems to be running a lot more than it used to as well about when all this started It sounds a lot louder than normal as well I've tried running a disc check and a malware bytes scan both of which came back with nothing I tried running SFC EXE SCANNOW but it didn't find anything I have no idea what to try next since I did some research online and I can't find anyone having the exact same combination of problems I am I'm trying to avoid having it looked at as I need it for school and it's well past it's warranty Hoping for some additional things to try to keep this alive a little while longer

A:BSoD-Minidump not being created, Freezing, Display Driver Crashing

As an update for today, my laptop has froze 6 times in the last hour, only 3 of which has lead to an actual blue screen. It's still not creating a dump file. I even downloaded the file to add to the registry to create a small dump file, but it's still not doing it. It's like the computer freezes after going to the blue screen.

It also seems like it's only freezing when I use Chrome. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling it, but that didn't help. I don't know if it could be something to do with the browser or not. I will try running memtest overnight tonight and see if that comes back with anything.

A. If you have more than one RAM module installed, try starting/running computer with one RAM stick at a time.NOTE Keep in mind, the manual check listed above is always superior to the software check, listed below. DO NOT proceed with memtest, if you can go with option AB. If you have only one RAM stick installed......run memtest...1. Download - Pre-Compiled Bootable ISO (.zip)2. Unzip downloaded memtest86+-....iso.zip file.3. Inside, you'll find memtest86+-....iso file.4. Download, and install ImgBurn: http://www.imgburn.com/5. Insert blank CD into your CD drive. 6. Open ImgBurn, and click on Write image file to disc7. Click on Browse for a file... icon:8. Locate memtest86+-....iso file, and click Open button.9. Click on ImgBurn green arrow to start burning bootable memtest86 CD:10. Once the CD is created, boot from it, and memtest will automatically start to run. The running program will look something like this depending on the size and number of ram modules installed:It's recommended to run 5-6 passes. Each pass contains very same 8 tests. This will show the progress of the test. It can take a while. Be patient, or leave it running overnight. The following image is the test results area:The most important item here is the ?errors? line. If you see ANY errors, even one, most likely, you have bad RAM.

Hello everyone, this is my first time posting here, so please bear with me as I learn more about your community.

My Dell XPS machine has been freezing, crashing, and showing the BSOD everyday, multiple times, for the last few days. I am unsure of the problem. I have ran a Malware Bytes test, it found nothing. I also ran a rootkit, and it found nothing. I ran a scan on Windows Defender, which also found nothing. The only abnormality I have found is that there are 4 unknown devices listed in my DM. I also can not use a USB drive because they  are all missing the driver. I am running Windows 10. I was hoping for some guidance on how to tackle the issue.

I have been getting multiple BSOD and computer freezing and my logitech mouse stops working or the arrow disappears. These problems all started after a hard drive crash. I had to rebuild my system with a backup that was 1 year old. I thought some of the BSOD were being cause by my motherboards USB 3.0 driver which I tried to update. I finally disabled the driver and installed an ORICO PCIe USB 3.0 Card. Since then I have had the problems mentioned at the beggining of the post. As I was getting the BSOD before the card was installed I'm not sure how to proceed.

Hello, I've sent this computer to a repair center and after diagnostics (if thats what he calls it) he said my crashes were due to my RAM. He wanted to charge me $120 to install new RAM. Instead I had him send it back and since I am computer savvy enough I installed new RAM myself. However, this has not solved my BSOD and crashing issues
my specs:
Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit
Nvidia Geoforce GTS 360m
8GB RAM
Intel Core i7 Processor 1.60Gh
Just re-installed windows 7 Completely reformatted HD
I've attached the perfmon and BSOD dump
Thanks in advance,
I know you will help me!

A:Toshiba Qosmio X505 Q870 BSOD (what a suprise) Crashing/freezing

We are going to need more than one crash to spot trends etc
These crashes were caused by memory corruption/exception (Cx05) probably a driver.
Please run these two tests to verify your memory and find which driver is causing the problem.

* If you are overclocking anything reset to default before running these tests.
In other words STOP!!!

* If you have a Raid update its Driver.

Memtest.

Quote:
*Download a copy of Memtest86 and burn the ISO to a CD using Iso Recorder or another ISO burning program. Memtest86+ - Advanced Memory Diagnostic Tool

*Boot from the CD, and leave it running for at least 5-7 passes.

Just remember, any time Memtest reports errors, it can be either bad RAM or a bad motherboard slot.

Test the sticks individually, and if you find a good one, test it in all slots.

Any errors are indicative of a memory problem.

If a known good stick fails in a motherboard slot it is probably the slot.

RAM - Test with Memtest86+

Driver Verifier

I'd suggest that you first backup your stuff and then make sure you've got access to another computer so you can contact us if problems arise.
Then make a System Restore point (so you can restore the system using the Vista/Win7 Startup Repair feature).

In Windows 7 you can make a Startup Repair disk by going to Start....All Programs...Maintenance...Create a System Repair Disc - with Windows Vista you'll have to use your installation disk or the "Repair your computer" option at the top of the Safe Mode menu .

Then, here's the procedure:
- Go to Start and type in "verifier" (without the quotes) and press Enter
- Select "Create custom settings (for code developers)" and click "Next"
- Select "Select individual settings from a full list" and click "Next"
- Select everything EXCEPT FOR "Low Resource Simulation"IRP Logging and Force Pending I/O Requests. and click "Next"

If you are using win 8 add these
- Concurrency Stress Test
- DDI compliance checking

Reboot the system and wait for it to crash to the Blue Screen.
Continue to use your system normally, and if you know what causes the crash, do that repeatedly.
The objective here is to get the system to crash because Driver Verifier is stressing the drivers out.
If it doesn't crash for you, then let it run for at least 36 hours of continuous operation.

Thanks to JCGriff2 & Usasma.

This has been going on about 2 weeks, I have rebuilt twice, and this issue keeps returning.
I have attempted to follow suggestions on this forum, I have updated my asACPI files, (I think it was behaving worse prior to this); however after restarting it crashed again.
My main partition is on an SSD; after the BSOD the computer will not boot, it either keeps resettings or BSOD, on the odd occasion it can't find the drive, and complains of missing bootldr press ctrl-alt-del. after turning the PSU off, and purging power from the system (pressing on off button until all led's switch off). then next boot it will progress into windows.
At the last occasion I was running Chrome, Remote Desktop.
I have enabled the mini dump, and I am awaiting my next crash. so I can post that.
I am enclosing my sf .zip hoping somebody can help.

Welcome aboard

Your crash dumps are not showing any finite probable cause. In such a situation, it is better to enable Driver Verifier to monitor the drivers.

Driver Verifier - Enable and Disable

Run Driver Verifier for 24 hours or the occurrence of the next crash, whichever is earlier.

Let us know the results, with the subsequent crash dumps, if any.

So Windows Live Messenger is about to close it's doors and I can't get it's successor Skype to stop crashing The Skype messaging box appears with me signed in I can see my name on it before it disappears and crashing Skype crashes Works fine on my desktop currently disassembled but not on my laptop Seems to be to do with my MSN login which does in fact Skype crashing work as it doesn't have a problem logging me into windows live messenger and logging into the MSN site A friend of mine let me test logging into my Skype with his MSN username and password Bizarrely Skype doesn't crash when I'm logged into his account but with mine it crashes What gives and how can I fix this If I can't get it fixed before MSN closes completely will Skype crashing my contacts still be imported when I do get Skype working Also will any other software AMSN IM etc work and import my contacts instead of skype after MSN is gone My version of Skype is the latest

A:Skype crashing

I can't help you with Skype crashing i'm afraid, but regarding using other IM programs, pretty much all have the option to import your contacts from Windows Live Messenger.

I used to chat to a friend on here via Windows Live Messenger, when we found out it was gonna be swapping to Skype we looked for a new IM program to use instead as we both didn't want to use Skype. We started using Trillian, it has the option to log in from your Windows Live Messenger email, and once logged in will show all your original contacts and you can continue chatting to them as you did before, it also has the option to create a Trillian account which can either run independently of your Windows Live account or along side with all contacts from both accounts running.
It will also work with other account types such as yahoo etc.

Of course Trillian is not the only IM program to do this, and like I said before pretty much all have the same options, so if you can't get Skype to work, have a look around for IM programs and find the one you like the best.

I hope this helps a little.
Paul.

Hey Guys,

This is a problem with Skype, this problem started occurring when we updated to Skype 6.3. When we open the program it tells use that something has caused the program to stop responding and windows will now close the program. We don't use add-on software such as Messenger plus for Skype nothing, it's just Skype on it's own. We haven't found nothing that helped on online, We have reinstalled Skype, Not to sure what else we can do. Just a note if it means anything we have just reinstalled windows 7, Everything else works fine on the laptop. I am not to familiar with the way this program works behind the scene.

Thanks

So I logged on today and my computer automatically signs on Skype. I see that I have new messages from 2 contacts. I look on one, everything is alright.

When I click to see what the second contact says, it gives me this error:

Exception EOutOfResources in module Skype.exe at 00137617.
Out of system resources.

It then proceeds to close itself. I can re-open Skype and send and receive messages fine from everybody except that person.

Any help plis

A:Skype keeps crashing

Welcome to TSG,

It's a bug disguising itself as a Skype executable file. It may effect your Skype account only and may go beyond. I'm moving this to the malware forum for a specialist to have a look at. Please be patient since they're busy bees

Meanwhile try uninstalling skype completely and then re-installing it. Also a system restore to an earlier date. Either or both may fix the skype issue but it's best to also follow instructions of a malware expert to see whether anything else on your PC is affected.

First you are running an old version of Skype.

Have you tried re-installing Skype?

Since it runs in safe mode but not in normal mode it is probably a driver. Have you installed any new software or made any changes of late?

Laptop (SONY VAIO Z) locks up completely whenever Skype (latest version) is launched. Skype ran fine for a few months on this machine. Problems started after Service Pack 1 was installed. Tried uninstalling Skype (including cleaning registry of all keys with any mention of "Skype"), but still no luck. Anyone else experiencing this problem--or know how to solve it? Our IT folks have thrown up their hands and have offered to rebuild machine from scratch. So far, neither Skype nor MSFT have been of any help. Anyone have any ideas of how to get Skype to run?

A:SKYPE CRASHING W7 AFTER SP 1

I see that you've posted on multiple forums around the internet and have not recieved a fully working solution. Your best bet is to contact Skype Support (probably via the forum here) and notify them of this bug or this issue. Hopefully they address the problem.

A:skype keeps freezing

Hey, servers using were probably extra busy, if this happens all the time, you may have a faulty install of Skype somehow, and at that point, i would do a reinstall of Skype to see if that alleviates that issue.
