BSOD while downloading or installing or while not near the computer.

Q: BSOD while downloading or installing or while not near the computer.

Hey all, I've been dealing with this problem for months now and I hope you can help me because I really am despairing.

For a while now I've been having a reoccuring problem with random BSODs, each time showing up 0x0000001e, and nothing I can think of seems to shift it.

I enclose the mini dump files in a desktop.rar

Preferred Solution: BSOD while downloading or installing or while not near the computer.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

problem: BSOD: irql not less or equal (sometimes other errors)

when:
- When i try to download/install games it happens most frequently. last game i tried to download (guildwars 2 = 20GB) i had 5-6 crashes. i have the same problem with other games.
- also happens at the most random times when browsing sites/watching a live stream or just idle.

things i tried:
- memtest86 for 8 passes (no errors)
- removed everything from SSD, Re-installed windows 8.1 and did all updates
- updated most drivers note: I didnt get the lastest videocard driver because it made me crash even more
- did virus/malware/spyware scans
- Disabled AMD CCC and overdrive

any help would be appreciated

Hey everyone Having some issues with BSODs generally when I'm downloading games such as League of Legends using the Pando Media Booster program to do so when I install download games through Steam and even just when I leave the computer on long enough for it to go on standby While there are several other installing/downloading, errors ntoskrnl.exe when BSOD filenames listed in the crash reports every single one involves the ntoskrnl exe I had it examined by Best Buy and they told me that it's likely a software issue as all my hardware checks out Any help I can get would be appreciated The perfmon report function is not working at the moment possibly because I'm working in Safe Mode so I can type this without interruption by BSOD but attached is the crash reports Edit Perfmon report added - x bit system - Original installed OS on the system BSOD when installing/downloading, ntoskrnl.exe errors - Full retail version - What is the age of system hardware year - Recently reinstalled Windows last week did a repair installation and that seemed to help temporarily

A:BSOD when installing/downloading, ntoskrnl.exe errors

Your crashes were related to athrxusb.sys Extensible Wireless LAN device driver from Atheros Communications, Inc.

OK, so I've been struggling the past few days after recently building my very own first rig.

After finally finishing, booting it up, and installing all the latest drivers, I've started getting a few BSOD's when I do certain activities.

They mostly seem to be triggered by two things:
Running World of Warcraft's streaming downloader
And installing Windows Updates upon system shutdown/restart

I've made sure to attach the SF diagnostic info in a zip, and would greatly appreciate anyones help in solving this issue

System Specs:
Win Home Premium x64
ASRock 970 pro3 R2.0 Mobo
AMD FX-6300
8gb of Kingston HyperX DDR3 1600
nVidia Geforce GTX 760
Samsung Evo SSD
WD Blue 7200 rpm 1 TB drive

Cheers,
Krusher

A:BSOD downloading WoW/installing updates on shutdown

As an update, the BSOD's vary on how fast they occur. Happen anywhere from 5 minutes to 3 hours after booting up the computer.

Hey

New computer and installing everything that I want/need on the computer and had no issues till this morning. I keep getting BSOD errors during downloading of both League of Legends and once when opening Tomb Raider(stopped doing so). I've tried reseating the GPU and RAM. I've done a windows repair + start up repair and have exhausted my knowledge of any such error which is why I'm here. The stop errors i've experienced (in order) are PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA, MEMORY_MANAGEMENT, and CACHE_MANAGER.

Operating system: Windows 7 x64
CPU: AMD FX-8320 eight core
Motherboard: Biostar Group A960D+

Burn it in a blank cd. boot from the CD, click on "Accept", wait for it to finish detecting the drives, then in the upper left corner select "Basic Tests", then select "Long Test" and let it run.
Post a screenshot of your HDD using CrystalDiskInfo - Software - Crystal Dew World
Test your RAM modules for possible errors.
How to Test and Diagnose RAM Issues with Memtest86+
Run memtest for at least 8 passes, preferably overnight.

Hello, I hope someone can help me, today the computer restarted 2 times, an error "windows recover from an unexpected error..." appeares at restart. It said it recover from a BSOD, I didn?t copy the error code
Both times, I left the computer on, and it restarts from the crash, but it crashes when I?m not using it, it was just on downloading some stuff and mostly internet explorer open.

My computer is an old AMD Athlon 64 X2, 2 gigs ram, old 250gb hard drive. biostar mobo. Have been working great till today!

Any help pointing me in the reason for the BSOD will be great! ? have one cheap pci Usb ports card, and a pci sound card (rocketfish) and An Nvidia gforce 7950 gt video card

Hi there, Click the Start button and type msconfig and press Enter. In the System Configuration Utility, click on Startup and then click Disable All. Click Apply and OK> Restart the computer. Then try to download it. If it still doesnt download, disable Kaspersky and then try downloading it again.

If you're uncomfortable changing settings, just install it & use it. Make sure to import your favorites from IE (if that's what you've been using). Hopefully you have SP3 installed.https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/k...

Hello all, this is my first post
I got a Laptop pre-installed with Windows 8, but i deleted it and installed a Linux distro because its better for what i do. BUT i love gaming, and gaming on Linux is a royal pain. So i want to re-install Wondows 8.
My question is this: Where can i download Windows 8 64bit legally? I know how to burn to disk and install with the key saved on my Laptop. Anyone?

A:Downloading and installing Wondows 8 OEM

The only legal download:
Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 ISO - Download or Create
You will need to buy a Retail Product Key.

I'm currently running W7 and still loving it. But with the "free download for w10" ending soon. I was wondering if I could download w10 now, not install it (save it on my exthd?) and still be able to install/activate it after the 7/29 cut off date. (If I ever do decide to try it again)
I tried asking Microsoft, guess how well that went... lol.

Any help on the subject is greatly appreciated. I know some stuff about Pc's, but I'm no expert.

A:Downloading W10, but not installing it. Questions

Hi and welcome.

No you must upgrade before July 29, 2016 to get it free. You will receive Digital entitlement on Microsoft's servers and from then on, you may reinstall on that computer without a key and it will remain activated.

I guess I just don t understand the difference between downloading a program and installing it I wasn t able to find a good explanation online One place said this quot Downloading - This is moving a file that s on the Internet onto your computer Just click a download link on a web site and save the file to your hard disk quot Installing - When you install something you basically quot put quot the program on your computer so you can use it Normally this is done via a setup program or quot wizard quot to make installation easy Once you re finished installing a program you can usually run it from your Start Menu Programs area So it downloading about installing Confusing and says that Confusing about downloading and installing both terms mean putting something on your computer That s confusing to me After I download a program from the web do I need to still need be connected to the download website to install it If I shut down without installing it is it still there for me to install when I boot up again If I partially download and get interrupted is the partial download still on my camputer Thanks for any clarification grandpaw nbsp

A:Confusing about downloading and installing

Install software is usually made up of many files all packaged up to appear as one file. The idea is that when you double click the file (in order to install it), the program automatically moves all the packaged files to the appropriate places on your hard drive.

If you think of install software like a suitcase, when you open it (double click it), some of the contents of your suitcase go in the closet, some in drawers, some in the bathroom, etc. The idea of installation software is that the person(s) who wrote the software have built it so that when you double click on it, it worries about where the files need to go, you don't. But the software won't work until you unpack it.

Other downloads are just files, pictures, documents, music. they are not necessarily packed, and if you double click, your own system will see if it can figure out which of your existing applications can view/play the file(s).

Most of the time, installation files have everything you need to install the application. If you disconnect from the internet, you can still install the software normally. Microsoft, as an example though, sometimes gives you a tiny install package, that when you double click on it, goes out to the internet to get the rest of the files it needs to put on your computer. Most of the time, the installation will let you know if you still need your internet connection.

Hope this helps,

MBN

Hi people, I have come looking for some advice and hopefully a solution.

I have now taken over the formatting of laptops at my work place. We buy and sell second hand laptops, so want to erase all data before we sell them.

Everything is fine, but the updates take forever, and need you to be around to continually restart the computer numerous times.

I downloaded WUD and downloaded every update at once, but still found that they could not all be installed at once (Unless I did something wrong), So I was wondering if there is some way you can install all the windows updates at once, as that would save me so much time, as some of the updates take forever to install, making the whole process a good 4-6 hour job sometimes.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you

A:Downloading and installing all updates at once

Hello Harlem and welcome to the forums

Some updates are cumulative (most security updates for example) and the components from the previous update have to exist before the newer update can be installed. So you won't be able to install all of these at once.

Service packs are introduced every now and then which are big packages of all of the previous updates, so you only have to reboot once.

It is possible to make a disc with all of the updates that you need to install, but I don't know how many times you need to reboot, all I know is that it saves you the hassle of downloading them all again.

WSUS Offline Update - Update Microsoft Windows and Office without an Internet connection

Tick the Windows 7 / Server 2008 R2 and the Create ISO option (whichever of the two suits you best). Then hit the big Start button at the bottom

There's quite a few, so it might take a while to download them all!

Hi guys,

I've attached the dump file as specified here: Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) Posting Instructions

Things I did leading up to when it first started.

1) Updated to NVIDIA drivers v 337.88.
2) BSOD started, rare and infrequent.
3) Happened again, so I took out my PC and cleaned it out with aircan.
4) BSOD started happening more frequently.
5) Also crashes and get CPU Temperature error at BIOS beginning which won't let me start. I used real temp and also ran prime95 and got the following result using Blend torture test:

[Sun Jun 08 16:34:10 2014]
Self-test 448K passed!
Self-test 448K passed!
Self-test 448K passed!
Self-test 448K passed!

Now the BSODs seem random, at least I haven't found a common pattern between them all. Any help would be appreciated

My best bet is to test them all.
Make sure you STOP overclocking!

Stress test your CPU with Prime95

I recommend running Prime95 for around 2 hours

   Warning

As with most stress tests your component's temperature will rapidly increase.
It is advised that you download a temperature monitoring program like HWmonitor
Keep an eye on your temperatures and stop the tests if it starts to overheat

Stress test your graphics card with Furmark

I recommend running it for around 30 minutes

   Warning

Furmark will increase the temperature of your GPU rapidly so keep and eye on your temperatures

Memtest86 will test your RAM

   Information

Run Memtest86 for at least 8 passes so we get enough information to confirm that your RAM isn't failing

Run a Disk Check to scan for errors

   Note

Afterwards go into an Elevated Command Prompt (Run as administrator) and type in sfc /scannow
If it finds errors reboot and run the scan two more times

Run SeaTools to see if your HDD or SSD is failing

Post back the results.

I noticed this in your dump file.

First off, thank you microsoft for turning solitaire into a competition game, ...

And because hearts is no longer part of what is installed in windows, I figured I'd hit up the Store app and fetch me one.

Open the store.
Search for "Hearts"
Click on "Games" in the left panel.
Click on ANY game presented.
(dot dot dot)
No install button, no helpful instructions on installing something, nice work.

There's a button that can be clicked, marked [Free]

Yea, that works, something happens.

Dialog pops up, "Choose an account", don't have one, close.

And, the store stays stuck, never getting beyond the "Working" with the moving dots above it.

Hi
Please can you help me, i am desperate . Installed bitlord on my pc which i was using with no problem. It all of a sudden would not work. uninstalled and tried to reinstall but with no success.
When you ask it to download brings up the box asking if you want to run or save, select run and it just closes as if it has installed it, does not install on pc.
Then selected the option to save tells me it will be saved in the temporary file which when you go to it is empty.
Seems to be a problem once you select run/save for new software.

Please can you help.

Adobe Updates Downloading OK ? But NOT Installing ?
I am in the process of doing a completely fresh install of the operating system and everything else. All has been going OK and I have installed Photoshop CS55 from the CD, but when I try to get the latest updates it all goes wrong. My Bandwidth Monitor confirms the size of the down load and it?s speed. Then just at the end when it should then install the update, I get this error message to say that the update could not be downloaded, when I know full well it is sitting on my hard drive ??

Attached is the error message that is popping up ?
Any ideas ?

A:downloading and installing windows 7 on a preinstalled 8.1

I would create a partition to install Windows 7 on, without a key you won`t be able to activate it, so you DO NOT won`t to wipe out Windows 8. Or..... you could just install 7 in a VM.

Download the windows 7 iso file from here and burn to dvd or flash stick to install 7.

This is a great tutorial and good luck

A:Vista Updates Not Downloading Or Installing!!! Please Help!

I believe that particular update has been pulled by Microsoft due to problems some were having with it.

http://forums.techguy.org/windows-vista/683606-vista-sp1-auto-install-problem-4.html

Regarding the problem generally with downloading and installing updates, if I understand you correctly, you have your computer set to automatically download and install updates, and they are sometimes downloading but not installing? Or do they only download when you go to the site and do it yourself?

If you haven't looked already, there are a number of trouble shooting tips in Windows Help and Support. Just type in something like 'troubleshooting problems with installing updates', and see if there's anything there to help. I believe too, that sometimes antivirus programmes can prevent these from being installed, so you may want to try disabling yours temporarily to see if it makes a difference. You can also do a search on the error number you see when you right click on the failed update, and sometimes there's a link to follow.

Hopefully someone else will have some more suggestions for you, but if all else fails, you can always ring Microsoft for help. It's free (other than your call charges of course) for help with updates.

Let us know how you get on anyway. Good luck.

A:possible virus after downloading/installing Windows 10

Hello and welcome to Computer Hope Forum. My name is Dave. I will be helping you out with your particular problem on your computer. 1. I will be working on your Malware issues. This may or may not solve other issues you have with your machine.2. The fixes are specific to your problem and should only be used for this issue on this machine.3. If you don't know or understand something, please don't hesitate to ask.4. Please DO NOT run any other tools or scans while I am helping you.5. It is important that you reply to this thread. Do not start a new topic.6. Your security programs may give warnings for some of the tools I will ask you to use. Be assured, any links I give are safe.7. Absence of symptoms does not mean that everything is clear. If you can't access the internet with your infected computer you will have to download and transfer any programs to the computer you're using now and transfer them to the infected computer with a CD-RW or a USB storage device. I prefer a CD because a storage device can get infected. If you use a storage device hold the shift key down while inserting the USB storage device for about 10 secs. You will also have to transfer the logs you receive back to the good computer using the same method until we can get the computer back on-line. *************************************************************************Please download Junkware Removal Tool to your desktop.?Warning! Once the scan is complete JRT will shut down your browser with NO warning.?Shut down your protection software now to avoid potential conflicts.?Temporarily disable your Antivirus and any Antispyware real time protection before performing a scan. Click this link to see a list of security programs that should be disabled and how to disable them.?Run the tool by double-clicking it. If you are using Windows Vista or Windows 7, right-click JRT and select Run as Administrator? The tool will open and start scanning your system.?Please be patient as this can take a while to complete depending on your system's specifications.?On completion, a log (JRT.txt) is saved to your desktop and will automatically open.?Copy and Paste the JRT.txt log into your next message.*************************************************You have two AV's running on your computer; Windows Defender and McAfee. One should be de-activated or uninstalled.Windows Defender is the default AV that comes with Win10

I purchase a Windows later now, downloading Inquiry re installing 8 but notebook last fall with Win and intend to purchase the Win upgrade promo that expires tomorrow Feb However my notebook developed a problem with the battery and currently ONLY works if plugged into Inquiry re downloading Windows 8 now, but installing later a DC connection wall plug I may have to return for warranty service and that may involve wiping the hard drive so it was suggested to me Therefore I intend to hold off on the actual Windows install until I get the notebook problems ironed out I understand that during the download process Inquiry re downloading Windows 8 now, but installing later with Windows Upgrade Assistant there are three options Install now Install by creating media Install later from your desktop If I opt for Install later from your desktop will I be able to subsequently copy the appropriate files to a USB flash drive before sending off my notebook for repairs and if the hard drive gets wiped thereby be able to upgrade it when I get it back If I select Install later from your desktop do the destination options allow for specifying an external device e g USB jumpdrive Finally if the answer to the above question is yes what size USB flash drive is required

A:Inquiry re downloading Windows 8 now, but installing later

You need to enter your Windows 7 key first.

I understand that during the download process with Windows 8 Upgrade Assistant, there are three options:
1. Install now
2. Install by creating media
3. Install later from your desktop

on Acer Aspire Windows 8 - All the drivers I have to instal, do not include an installation program and I have to instal the drivers manually. I don't know if I am doing it right or if there is an easier way of doing it but I have to right click the downloaded Zip file for Bluetooth, extract all files, search for the Bluetooth folder in Device Manager to instal the driver. I have got six drivers (not all Bluetooth) to instal and just want it get it right. before I upgrade to Windows 8.1 again.

A:Downloading Zip-files and installing the drivers manually

You got the process right, if it's proper driver it should install, no problem. For some drivers (that support that) you can also right click on appropriate *.*.INF file and choose "Install", it could save some work.

Hi and Welcome to TSF!

How full is your hard drive?

Make sure to uninstall all Antivirus software on your PC and use the built in Windows Defender software for Windows 8.

http://www.pcworld.com/article/2020260/how-to-activate-windows-defender-in-windows-8.html

Please also do this:

Download HWMonitor from here:

http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/hwmonitor.html

Make sure to download the .zip file to your desktop.

Once downloaded to your desktop unzip the hwmonitor.zip folder to your desktop.

Open up the unzipped folder and run either the 32bit Software or 64bit Software. How to tell the difference: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/827218
Allow HWMonitor to run while the PC is at an idle state. After about five minutes of running at idle take a screenshot and save the image to your desktop.

Now allow HWMonitor to run while gaming or doing heavy processing for about five minutes. Take another screenshot and save the image to your desktop.

In your next reply please include both screenshots.

Alright, so after updating my pc a few days ago and managing to install SP1 for windows 7, my computer now constantly "downloads" information which results up to 100's of mb's per hour wasted.. and thus having a limited cap amount, I need to find a way to stop it. Why I say this now, is because ever since I updated windows 7, so the "downloading" has started and it never used to do this before.

I have told windows to not start up apps like iTunes and Skype etc. But this hasnt had a effect. Is there anything else I can do to stop this?

Thanks in advance

A:Windows constantly downloading after installing updates..

BrianBoi
Go back in time and do a restore point when your computer was acting normally.
See if the constantly download is stoped.
when WU ask's for updates make the upates download & install one by one to see wich update is the cause of your stuborn download.
Good luck

Hello,

My windows update has not been downloading/installing anything for a few weeks now, and is always using about 25 percent of my CPU. I just did a SCF scan and here are the results. It did say something was corrupt.

Here is the Log

https://www.dropbox.com/s/8j7lt40rcbebvm4/CBS.zip?dl=0
EDIT: I no longer have a problem. I was doing a bunch of things and then finally noticed that shutdown button had that little symbol that said it would install updates. I guess the reason why my WU download was always at 0kb was because the files were all there.

No more problems, however the scan still said something was corrupt, i would really appreciate it if someone looked through and see what i'm missing.

Hi I'm not particularly techy so I hope I describe this right I have a Toshiba laptop running the bit edition of Windows Home Premium Service Pack is installed A couple of weeks ago I was routinely automatically downloading and installing from Windows Update Then at my last Windows Update after it had finished installing DNS simply would not resolve then downloading No Update latest and Windows DNS installing after it started to but very very slowly and then it stopped again No DNS after downloading and installing latest Windows Update I could use IP addresses just fine but DNS would simply not resolve or would do so very slowly Reading around I tried the following Removing the Microsoft Virtual WiFi Miniport Adapter completely This seemed to work at first and then it just stopped again Changing the preferred DNS No DNS after downloading and installing latest Windows Update to and when that didn't No DNS after downloading and installing latest Windows Update work to that didn't work either I shut down all anti-virus firewall - still didn't work I ended up taking Windows back to a System Restore point pre- the latest Windows Update and everything was fine again Now I'm worried to run Windows Update at all If anyone has any ideas about what I should be doing I'd be very grateful Thanks in advance

A:No DNS after downloading and installing latest Windows Update

You can avoid having to do this if you can figure out which update is causing the problem and then you can right click and hide the update.

This particular update has been causing problems for awhile now but if you happen to reinstall that update then running this command might help.

Lets try flushing DNS cache and renewing your IP.

Flush the DNS cache and restore MS's Hosts file ...
Copy and paste these lines in Note pad.

@Echo on
pushd\windows\system32\drivers\etc
attrib -h -s -r hosts
echo 127.0.0.1 localhost>HOSTS
attrib +r +h +s hosts
popd
ipconfig /release
ipconfig /renew
ipconfig /flushdns
netsh winsock reset all
netsh int ip reset all
shutdown -r -t 1
del %0

Save as flush.bat to your desktop. Right click on the flush.bat file to run it as Administrator.

Your computer will reboot it self.

You might need to reboot twice for this to work.

Hello All About a week ago I got back from vacation and not shutdown. Windows updates downloading/installing on tried to install about five windows updates I thought they had downloaded successfully because when I tried to turn my computer off for the night it gave me the Install updates and shut down option I accepted it and went to bed but when I Windows updates not downloading/installing on shutdown. got up in the morning it was still on Please do not power off or unplug your machine installing updates of I let it keep installing while I went to work but when I got home in the evening it was still stuck I don t think it should take hours to install one update so I had to power the machine down Windows updates not downloading/installing on shutdown. and reboot I went to the windows update console and looked at the available updates and they appeared to Windows updates not downloading/installing on shutdown. still be uninstalled and undownloaded I then tried to install them but after an hour they were still at I then tried to look at my installed updates to see if maybe I needed to delete the recent ones and redownload them but it would keep getting stuck trying to open A grey progress bar would appear on the file path on the top but it would never actually open I ve had a similar problem with some other file folders like My Pictures As far as I know I don t have any viruses and I have nearly gigs of free space in my hard drive They only things I can think of that might be causing this problem is that I recently checked my registry with Registry Mechanic by PcTools which may have messed something up And I also signed up for Carbonite about four weeks ago and the back up feature is causing trouble while downloading Here are my system specs If you need more info please let me know Windows Vista Home Premium Intel core quad CPU q GHz gb ram ATI radeon HD xt

I had a problem installing programs so I re-formatted my PC and did a clean install of Windows Xp home. I activated it then tried to start installing programs and the same problem happened. It seems that my PC has a problem with executable files. The first program I tried was Acrobat reader 7. It failed getting towards the end of the download and said it was corrupt and to try re downloading it. This is the same for most other programs including virtual PC, the latest msn messenger and Java. Also, if I download a program as a Zip file, I am only able unzip all files except the exe files.

Other than this the PC runs ok. Its an Advent T9100 P4 3.2

Please help as this problem is driving me up the wall and I am about to take my first course for my MCSE and need the PC to study.

Many Thanks,

Adam

The only other thing I thought it might be is those windows updates that get installed whenever I shut down the computer, so I turned those off last night (which I wasn't comfortable doing), yet it's still dropping today.Click to expand...

You need those updates. I suggest turning on automatic updates again, even if it is the culprit behind this (which it does sound like it).

You can also try deleting Shadow Copies of system restore points on your harddrive.

Scroll down to "Option One" and follow the directions there.

---------------------------------------

As for your purchase, as long as you're a general computer user for internet and office type programs, this computer is fine for you.

It has powerful enough hardware to even run some decent games if you wanted, albeit they would have to be some years old.

Also in response to your thoughts about Windows XP, I do not suggest installing that either. Windows 7 is a great operating system and has much better security and support for software and hardware being made nowadays. Windows XP is a decade old.

Title says it all. Any suggestions? I think Net Nanny will do what I want but I downloaded the trial version and had loads of trouble afterward. It froze during install and afterward it would not let me browse any sites and I could not remove it. Had to reformat my HD. Thankfully I had a 15 gig partition that I could move important stuff to.

Is there something I could do within Windows itself? We are a peer-to-peer network so there is no centralized server.

A:Easiest Way To Prevent Lim. Users from Downloading/Installing EXE files in Xp Pro

Hello wesleyj

A Limited Account user will not be able to run .exe files

Extract from MS
Limited account
The limited account is intended for someone who should be prohibited from changing most computer settings and deleting important files. A user with a limited account:
Generally cannot install software or hardware, but can access programs that have already been installed on the computer.
Can change his or her account picture and can also create, change, or delete his or her password.
Cannot change his or her account name or account type. A user with a computer administrator account must make these kinds of changes.
Can manage his or her network passwords, create a reset password disk, and set up his or her account to use a .NET Passport.

Does that answer your question?

I'm using a Toshiba Satellite Laptop A105 - S4254, Windows XP Sp3. I've had it for a couple years but for the past few months it's been crashing any time I tried to download or install large games like World of Warcraft, or just about anything larger than 1g. I at first thought that reinstalling the OS would fix it so did that, and it wasn't fixed. I even tried Linux. I'm back to using Windows XP now though. I think it might have to do with the hard drive, because I sometimes hear clicks coming from that area before it crashes. It almost never crashes when I'm not downloading or installing something.

I used those to programs to clean out much malware. Afterwards the active protection of my malwarebytes was set to off. If I log on as sysadmin, reset the settings, save the settings, then reboot, it is reset to inactive. I uninstalled ccleaner and ESET, reset malwarebytes, rebooted and the problems remains. I don't see any ESET or ccleaner processes or files, but I can't reset my mwb active protection. Now when I try to run malwarebytes it hangs after 2 seconds, tells, then terminates, and says the scan did not finish successfully and offers:  "view detailed log", which when I click just leads me to C:

Hi,
Unfortunately the installation is counterfeit.
The Key is that of a Dell OEM computer - and the motherboard is a retail one by Asus.

The best course of action is to:Purchase a legitimate Windows 7 licence.
Format the HDD.
Reinstall Windows and activate.

Hi,
Everything I try to open (eg: outlook) says: 'illegal operation attempted on a registry key that has been marked for completion'. I just downloaded combofix from bleeping computer. I have had combofix on many previous computers and never had a problem. This time after downloading it rebooted my computer. I don't remember it doing that before but maybe it did.

How bad is this? Can it be fixed? My computer person is on vacation in Spain and inaccessable so I'm on my own ... And I'm computer illiterate!

I'm on Windows 7 operating system.

I'm posting this from iPad since I can't do anything on my computer.

I've been experiencing BSOD's while downloading a big number of files in a row (such as a photo album photo-by-photo), no issue when downloading a single or a few files in a row.
Well it gives two different bsod's: sometimes its BAD_POOL_CALLER, sometimes its APC_INDEX_MISMATCH.. first one caused by driver "ksaud.sys", I found it related to my audio driver.. but it is okay.. all my audio features work 100% OK, I have no idea why it thinks its my audio(I've tried different drivers too) and second one is "ntoskrnl.exe".
Only happens with Firefox, no issues in Chrome or IE.

System is overclocked, but is very stable, no instability issues what so ever.
Specs in my profile.

Any ideas?

I'm not very good with computers, so could someone look at the minidump file and tell me what the problem is? I'm new here and this problem has going on for a while. Also, safe mode seems to fix the problem but its just a temporary solution. Thanks for your help

Hi There,

Let's use this tool so we get some more info,

Additional information is required.

1. Download this file to your desktop or other convenient location,

2. Double click on the file to run it.

3. Locate the .ZIP file created on your desktop, and upload it here in your next reply.

The dump file in your previous post is from April, it is blaming your wireless driver though.

i recently purchased a HP dv7 with W7 Home Premium x64 installed.

while i am happy most of the time with the new OS (i used Wxp untill then), the frequent BSODs are starting to get annoying.
i tried to analyse the minidunp files myself with the Windbg tool.
in one of the dump files the problem seemed to be the HP Wireless LAN driver. after updating this driver, the BSOD's got less.

My feeling is that the BSODs have something to do with a combination of usenet / newsleecher (software) and downloading large amounts of files.

I zipped the recent BSODs and hope someone can guide me through the process.

Additional info:
i am planning to upgrade to W7 Ultimate x64 soon.

Welcome to SF!

I suspect Norton is causing the problem, or at least contributing to it. Uninstall it completely in Programs and Features, and then run this removal tool: ftp://ftp.symantec.com/public/englis...moval_Tool.exe

Then download and install Microsoft Security Essentials.

Let us know how it turns out.

We do have some other bugchecks that can only be properly analysed with Kernel Memory Dumps.

Code:
BugCheck 101, {19, 0, fffff880009b3180, 4}
The reason we need Kernel Memory Dumps is because this bugcheck indicates a processor is not responding to interrupts, more specifically a clock interrupt was initiated to keep the processors in sync, the signal is sent out, then the processors have to respond within the allocated time interval which in this case was 19 ticks, because processor 4 didn't respond so the system bugchecks.

The 3rd parameter is the address of the PRCB which contains information about the processes running.

Now minidumps only record the processor that initiated the bugcheck which isn't the one that was at fault so we cannot properly analyse the cause, it might be caused by the gigabyte bloatware but we'll see.

I need you to zip and attach the C:\Windows\Minidump\070411-17456-01.dmp file mentioned in the above report.

It contains a driver dump and the actual interrupt halt. It's the best way to troubleshoot a bsod over the net like this.

If you like you can also attach the additional items requested here.
http://www.sevenforums.com/crashes-d...tructions.html
I need the minidump though.

You have Comodo Internet Security and avast! running in tandem. This may be causing conflicts if both of their realtime antivirus capabilities are enabled. If they are, both programs will try to utilize the same system resources and scan the same system files simultaneously which will cause conflicts. Those conflicts often result in freezing, random restarts, and/or blue screen crashes.
Your crashes indicate network related crashes. I suspect it is due to the conflicting security software. Please remove one of the programs.

No DMP files included in upload try this method.

We do need the DMP file as it contains the only record of the sequence of events leading up to the crash, what drivers were loaded, and what was responsible.

If you are overclocking STOP

You may be able to get the DMP files without crashing by booting into safe mode (F8) with networking.

To enable us to assist you with your computer's BSOD symptoms, upload the contents of your "\Windows\Minidump" folder.

The procedure:

Quote:
* Copy the contents of \Windows\Minidump to another (temporary) location somewhere on your machine.
* Zip up the copy.
* Attach the ZIP archive to your post using the "paperclip" (file attachments) button.
*If the files are too large please upload them to a file sharing service like "Rapidshare" and put a link to them in your reply.

To ensure minidumps are enabled:

Quote:
* Go to Start, in the Search Box type: sysdm.cpl, press Enter.
* Under the Advanced tab, click on the Startup and Recovery Settings... button.
* Ensure that Automatically restart is unchecked.
* Under the Write Debugging Information header select Small memory dump (256 kB) in the dropdown box (the 256kb varies).
* Ensure that the Small Dump Directory is listed as %systemroot%\Minidump.
* OK your way out.
* Reboot if changes have been made.

Hello guys, I'm getting BSOD everytime I download a big file on Utorrent. I just attached the file as in the tutorial. I hope you guys have time to help me. Thank you.

A:BSOD - While Downloading on Utorrent

I would run memtest86 for a start as there seems to be some memory corruption. RAM - Test with Memtest86+

I would run this first as this seems to be the most obvious cause, then if that fails try these suggestions.

The other obvious cause are bad files on a HDD. Please run a disk check

Disk Check

If that finds no errors then I would run a samsung hard drive testing tool to see if the HDD is failing

http://support-us.samsung.com/cyber/...elname=SV0411N
The crash dumps don't contain that much information, most of these dumps can't find the driver responsible. So please run driver verifier as it will help find the cause of the problem.

Driver Verifier - Enable and Disable

You also seem to have a lot of programs launching on start up. Please visit here to turn them some off.
Startup Programs - Change
I would also download and run malwarebytes seen as you use programs like Utorrent.

Hi, it's been a while since I have this ("driver_irql_not_less_or_equal, ndis.sys or netio.sys") error and it occurs whenever I try to download a file with uTorrent and a few times while downloading with IDM, I hope that my PC is not dead, Thanks in advance for your support.

Only 128 Windows Updates installed. Most systems have 160 or more. Please visit Windows Update and get ALL available updates (it may take several trips to get them all).

Your C:drive has only about 9% free space available, windows likes to have about 15% free space for running the system. Please makesome space on your disk.

Daemon Tools (and Alcohol % software)are known to cause BSOD's on some Windows systems (mostly due to the sptd.sysdriver, although I have seen dtsoftbus01.sys blamed on several occasions).

Please un-install the program, thenuse the following free tool to ensure that the troublesome sptd.sys driver isremoved from your system (pick the 32 or 64 bit system depending on yoursystem's configuration): New link (15 Aug 2012): DuplexSecure - Downloads(pick the appropriate version for your system and select "Un-install"when you run it).

A:BSOD After Downloading Torrents.

IMAGE_NAME: bdfndisf.sys This is a Bit Defender Firewall driver, seems to be the problem.Worth reading, IMO: http://forum.bitdefender.com/index.php?sho...amp;#entry64407Not the same conclusion I would draw, but close. I would have suggested that the Bit Defender package is corrupt/damaged and suggested uninstalling it, then reinstalling (or using a different product).Let's assume that the other person is correct . Do not upgrade. If the suggested fix doesn't work, then I say uninstall Bit Defender and use free AV and firewall products (for that matter, the XP firewall is sufficient). Those of us who use 3d-party firewalls tend to do so because we like some feature/additional info, etc. that will not be provided by the XP firewall.Louis

You appear to have issues with your HDD, you can do two things.
One is to run a chkdsk to scan and fix errors on your HDD.
Please follow these instructions on how to run a chkdsk.

Disk Check

Then can you please run Seatools to see if your HDD is failing.
Follow these instructions.
