Preferred Solution: BSOD no patern detected.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

My story starts with a new laptop, decided to install win 7...all went great for like a week then i received my first BSOD something about IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL then 11 other types of BSOD`s followed...
Gave up, and switched to win 8..all was good for like 5 days then same patern of BSOD`s happened

here is the win 7 colection of BDOS : Free Image Uploading, Image Sharing, & Photo Editing | tinyuploads

here is the win 8 colection of BDOS : Free Image Uploading, Image Sharing, & Photo Editing | tinyuploads

I will make and upload dump files soon.

A:BSOD after AVG detected virus

hi this is what i found on your error code
0x0000004F: NDIS_INTERNAL_ERROR
(Click to consult the online MSDN article.)
This is a very rare error, indicating indicates an internal error in the Network Driver Interface Specification (NDIS) wrapper or an NDIS driver. Start by confirming that you have the best current driver for your network card. If that doesn?t resolve the issue, use the General Troubleshooting of STOP Messages checklist above.
i would also suggest you visit our security forum for help ensuring your virus is out of your system http://www.techsupportforum.com/f50/...lp-305963.html

Hello, I recently brought a motherboard (Intel DP67DE) and like it was expected, when booting XP a blue screen appears... But thats not a problem at all becauses with the "Windows Repair" option it would be easy.

The problem is... I have already installed Linux (Kubuntu) with no problems, even Grub detects my old Windows installation. But then Windows Installation CD wont detect any of my HDDs, even if I use the same installation (no problems/errors in all the times I reinstalled windows).

Maybe it has to do with those new ports the motherboard have... Sata 3 and 4...

I just want to access my old windows one last time... then I can reinstall it.

If needed I will post my HDD name... When I get home
And thanks for taking the time reading my problem!

As thread title says my laptop can no longer see my HDD in BIOS or even Ubuntu after that BSOD It happened around seconds after I plugged in my cousin's external HDD After that it detected No BSOD after HDD INPAGE_KERNEL_ERROR said it was gathering data for a long time after which I just did a hard reset Guess that was a bad idea because No HDD detected after INPAGE_KERNEL_ERROR BSOD now I No HDD detected after INPAGE_KERNEL_ERROR BSOD just get the Insert boot device message Laptop specs ASUS K JR Core i GHz GB HDD I honestly don't know the brand ATI Mobility Radeon HD GB GB Elpida RAM forgot frequency Windows What I've already done Searched around Reseated HDD and RAM Tried running Ubuntu off a flash drive It runs just fine detects other external HDD's just fine It just won't detect my internal HDD Left it overnight in hopes it would fix itself It seems that other people with the same problem haven't gotten it fixed by themselves but apparently it magically just decides to work after a while It seems like I've done most if not all of what is able to be done though I'd like to see if anyone is able to provide any additional input Worst case it seems like I've got a bad HDD I think it would cost me an arm and a leg to get my stuff of it and place it on an external HDD so if worse comes to worst I'll probably end up booting with my external HDD from now on short of buying a new laptop EDIT Currently posting from Ubuntu on the laptop in question Would just like to add that the HDD is spinning just fine but the access light doesn't blink at all even during the POST without the flash drive stuck in

A:No HDD detected after INPAGE_KERNEL_ERROR BSOD

Hi Geno93n0 ^_^,

It seems a drive failure to me. If it is still spinning you might be able to take it to a computer repair shop and have them open up the HDD and see if they could repair it. If it is in warranty, I would suggest you to contact the manufacturer.

Hello,

I think I am infected and need help removing this. While opening a tab in IE this warning popped up

BSOD: dllregistersetting has detected the error code 0x80060402 and goes on from there with a separate popup window warning to call the number listed to talk to a Microsoft tech

I use windows 10. I ran webroot secure anywhere and Malwarebytes anti-malware and neither detected any problem

Thank you

A:This popped up BSOD: dllregistersetting has detected...

Did you call the phone # ? Hope not....as it is an ad from a criminal.
Most likely you visited a compromised website or you have adware on your computer.

Use the programs below to clean up the computer.

Use CCleaner to remove Temporary files, program caches, cookies, logs, etc. Use the Default settings. No need to use the
Registry Cleaning Tool...risky. Pay close attention while installing and UNcheck offers of toolbars....especially Google.
After install, open CCleaner and run by clicking on the Run Cleaner button in the bottom right corner.
CCleaner - PC Optimization and Cleaning - Free Download

Download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from Here
Double-click mbam-setup-2.X.X.XXXX.exe to install the application (X's are the current version number).
Make sure a checkmark is placed next to Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
Once MBAM opens, when it says Your databases are out of date, click the Fix Now button.
Click the Settings tab at the top, and then in the left column, select Detections and Protections, and if not already checked place a checkmark in the selection box for Scan for rootkits.
Click the Scan tab at the top of the program window, select Threat Scan and click the Scan Now button.
If you receive a message that updates are available, click the Update Now button (the update will be downloaded, installed, and the scan will start).
When MBAM is finished scanning it will display a screen that displays any malware that it has detected.
Click the Remove Selected button.
MBAM will now delete all of the files and registry keys and add them to the programs quarantine. When removing the files, MBAM may require a reboot in order to remove some of them. If it displays a message stating that it needs to reboot, please allow it to do so.
While still on the Scan tab, click the link for View detailed log, and in the window that opens click the Export button, select Text file (*.txt), and save the log to your Desktop.
The log is automatically saved by MBAM and can also be viewed by clicking the History tab and then selecting Application Logs.
POST THE LOG FOR  REVIEW.

Download AdwCleaner by Xplode onto your desktop.
Close all open programs and internet browsers.
Double click on adwcleaner.exe to run the tool.
Click on Scan button.
When the scan has finished click on Clean button.
Your computer will be rebooted automatically. A text file will open after the restart.
Please post the contents of that logfile with your next reply.
You can find the logfile at C:\AdwCleaner[S1].txt as well.
download Junkware Removal Tool to your desktop.
Shut down your protection software now to avoid potential conflicts.
Run the tool by double-clicking it. If you are using Windows Vista, 7, or 8; instead of double-clicking, right-mouse click JRT.exe and select "Run as Administrator".
The tool will open and start scanning your system.
Please be patient as this can take a while to complete depending on your system's specifications.
On completion, a log (JRT.txt) is saved to your desktop and will automatically open.
Post the contents of JRT.txt into your next message

Hold down Control and click on this link to open ESET OnlineScan in a new window.
Click the button.
For alternate browsers only: (Microsoft Internet Explorer users can skip these steps)
Click on esetsmartinstaller_enu.exe to download the ESET Smart Installer. Save it to your desktop.
Double click on the icon on your desktop.
Check "YES, I accept the Terms of Use."
Click the Start button.
Accept any security warnings from your browser.
Under scan settings, check "Scan Archives" and "Remove found threats"
ESET will then download updates for itself, install itself, and begin scanning your computer. Please be patient as this can take some time.
When the scan completes, click List Threats
Click Export, and save the file to your desktop using a unique name, such as ESETScan. Include the contents of this report in your next reply.

While waiting for a reply, please try these suggestions:
1. Get ALL available Windows Updates. It may take several trips to get them all
2. Get ALL available, Windows 8.1 compatible updates from the manufacturer's website.
3. Start with these free hardware diagnostics: Hardware Diagnostics
4. If all of the hardware tests pass, then run Driver Verifier according to these instructions: Driver Verifier Settings

Good evening all Since a couple of days I'm getting BSOD's once a day with the notice that my Driver Verifier has detected - Verifier BSOD Violation Driver Detected a violation These particular BSOD's BSOD - Driver Verifier Violation Detected occured in pretty much every activity so far from playing a game to watching a video or just browsing through some forums I've also noticed that my notebooks fans get louder since the BSOD appeared but I can't imagine that there's too much dust inside because I've just bought this notebook a few weeks ago and BSOD - Driver Verifier Violation Detected haven't used it that much If you need any more information just ask and it would be much appreciated BSOD - Driver Verifier Violation Detected if you could help me out with this issues Many thanks in advance and here's my file Attachment EDIT I've installed Speedfan and MSI Afterburner lately but Speedfan only to see the temps and MSI AB only to record games nothing else I'm mentioning this just in case these programs could cause troubles EDIT I've just re-installed Speedfan and just as I wanted to open it because my fans were louder than usual once again the BSOD I mentioned above appeared again Could it be that Speedfan was causing those issues I've uninstalled it and now my notebook is suddenly not as noisy anymore either but I'll check if it remains like this for a longer period

A:BSOD - Driver Verifier Violation Detected

Update: My notebook is louder than usual again, but I haven't experienced another BSOD yet. Will keep you updated.

Update #2: No BSOD's today, seems like it was Speedfan causing the troubles. Still, could one of you guys check my file to see if there is/was anything else possibly causing problems?

Strange, opened the lid of my laptop, which woke it up, then clicked on my browser, then boom. Haven't installed anything recently, except Virtual box, but it wasn't running at the time, so I'm stumped. Everything is working fine now, so I just wanted to make sure what the cause was as I ran a scan with Malwarebytes and Hitmanpro and nothing showed up.

Bingo! The real issue seems to be with the Blue Ridge Networks filter driver conflicting with the Malwarebytes update service.

Check the manufacturer's website for an updated driver, and download it. Create a system restore point. Install the updated driver and monitor for further BSOD's.

A:Driver Verifier Detected Violation BSOD

Hi

As part of an attempt to figure out the reason behind the blue screens, you might have accidentally enabled "Verfier" program. To disable that, please follow the below steps.

Open an elevated command prompt - http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/windows-elevated-command-prompt/

Type Verifier /reset and press Enter key. Reboot the system to apply the change.

Enter Verifier /query and you should get a response similar to "No drivers are currently verified".

BSOD says "plug and play has detected an error most likely caused by a driver" loading windows.
Occurs in all modes: last known good config, safe mode, safe mode command prompt bsod's with a similar error

Issue also occurs when booting from an XPSP3 or Reatogo cd.

I have reset the BIOS to the default

Im thinking memory, which I have not reseated yet.
Any thoughts?

Hello folk of Windows 7 Support Forums,
I've been having a lot of issues lately. It is a custom build, and I made it around June of last year. Recently, (in the past week) I have been getting a lot of blue screens. At first, I was getting Page Fault in Non Paged Area, since update drivers, trying memtest, and driver verifier, it is beginning to frequently blue screen with Special Pool Detected. I am using Blue Screen View. I have ran Check Disk with no errors. Whenever I play games (such as Chivalry, League of Legends, etc) they crash as well. I have updated my Nvidia Graphics driver from the site. Any help would be thoroughly appreciated. My dump info is attached.

A:BSOD's Galore, Mostly Special Pool Detected

I forgot to mention that (according to BluescreenViewer) ntoskrnl.exe has been involved with every blue screen.

A:Bsod driver verifier detected violation

You have uploaded four crash dumps and there is no driver verifier detected violation. There is no trace of DV enabled in either of dumps, but there is enough need to enable DV. Have you thought something and posted something else?

Anyway, there are two drivers at fault ... AswSNX.sys and AswSP.sys. Both are parts of Avast antivirus. Uninstall Avast using Avast Uninstall Utility. Use Microsoft Security Essentials as your antivirus with windows inbuilt firewall, and free MBAM as the on demand scanner.

Download and install those, and then run full system scans with both of them, one by one.

Let us know the results.

Picked up a used gaming laptop. Cyberpowerpc.
believe it's a Raven, i7 2.4, Nvidia 675m gpu and 16gbs of ram. Not sure of exact model.

Played perfectly fine for 48 hours.
Next day, went to play and it crashed To blue screen. Video TDR error. Also getting an error of Software denied access to graphics hardware if it doesn't BSOD. Only started having a problem when Windows did some "automatic updates".

things I've tried:
Reinstalling Windows. No change.
reinstalled GPU drivers. No change.
downgraded gpu drivers. No change.

Did the fresh install of 8.1 today, now I can't get it to see the 675m at all.
Any suggestions on what to do next?

I've been having a problem for about months with my PC HDD a western digital tb piece of junk it started clicked so before i lost everything i bought a new Seagate Barracuda as rating were high I plugged it in no problem put in the win boot disk ultimate x agreed to terms etc and nothing showed up in the 'where do you want to install windows' box Restarted and opened the BIOS no show of new HDD Wiggled & install detected later. Win7 no 1month HDD BSOD problems a few cables to make sure I wasn't being dense and sure enough it worked However there was a Win7 install problems no HDD detected & BSOD 1month later. partition of mb that I cannot seem to get rid of which i thought was weird Anyway windows installed no problem and works fine for a month or so then suddenly i get BSOD so it restarts and does the usual windows thing I wonder why this has happened so do check disk and after that there is a complete failure - IF windows gets past the loading screen then it's SO slow programs stop responding Even when I click Win7 install problems no HDD detected & BSOD 1month later. nothing sometimes it comes up with 'windows explorer has stopped responding' First time this happened I was like ok well maybe just a one off This has happened about times now - works fine for a month or so The last time I was very careful about noticing if there was any new drivers I had installed recently but everything installed on the computer was when i installed windows I've looked at hundreds of threads all over the place and don't seem to be able to find a solid solution It's really starting to make me rage as i've had various friends over who are fantastic with PCs and they just don't know Any help would be MUCH appreciated Thanks

A:Win7 install problems no HDD detected & BSOD 1month later.

It sounds like you needed to replace the cables and not just jiggle them. I would boot HD maker's HD Diagnostic extended CD scan to test the HD and run a full Disk Check pro-actively from the installer's Command Line.

After replacing the cables and checking the connections, boot into installer Command Line to wipe the HD with Diskpart Clean Command before reinstall.

Then follow the best practices in Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7 which are the same for retail. Pay special attention to how drivers are handled in Win7 and the tools and methods recommended to get and keep a perfect install.

Then if problems persist post back here for specialized help, following the Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) Posting Instructions for expert analysis while you work through these Troubleshooting Steps for Windows 7

A:BSOD on boot - Plug and Play detected an error

Remove any USB external drives attached when booting or power them off.

USB devices attached (other than mouse or keyboard) have been known to interfere with XP boot process, as XP recognizes that something is there but cannot account for it because the USB drivers are not yet installed (that's how I think of it).

Same thing can happen with flash drives and card readers, I think.

Once booting is complete, then power the devices on.

Hi

I have Windows 7 Ultimate x64 on a Dell Inspiron Laptop. I also have Ubuntu 11.10 as a dual boot option on this machine.

Recently I got a BSOD with the following error -

DRIVER POWER STATE FAILURE

Since then Windows does not recognize the Wifi network adapter. It is not there in the Device Manager at all.

It does not seem to be a hardware problem because when I boot using Ubuntu, the Wifi works without any problem.

Can anyone guide me how to solve this issue. Since the adapter is not being listed in the device manager, I don't know how to update or reinstall drivers.

Thanks

Hello all While I was browsing my some manga online McAfee instant notified me that it BSOD Artemis Trojan Virus Detected/Removed, but had found and deleted a Trojan To be on the safe side I opened up MBAM and updated it hoping to do a full scan However after the update and mid-scan I got BSODed I booted everything back up in Safe Mode after repairing Artemis Trojan Virus Detected/Removed, but BSOD the computer with Startup Repair and found that McAfee had deleted found the Artemis Trojan I m currently running a quick scan on MBAM to see if there are any other viruses and will post up the log if needed Unfortunately MBAM s update log states that version is the most Artemis Trojan Virus Detected/Removed, but BSOD current version so I have no idea whether or not MBAM had actually updated correctly I don t know if there are any other possible viruses linked with this but the fact that I had gotten a BSOD after McAfee removed the virus worries me McAfee also doesn t appear to be working on Safe Mode after it After looking up the Artemis Trojan on Google it seems that sometimes McAfee doesn t actually get rid of it Is it possible that I haven t actually removed it Also could someone tell me if my version of MBAM is actually the most current or should I just re-install it nbsp

Someone had the same problem this morning and it was a false alarm.> http://www.sevenforums.com/system-security/190160-trojan-malwarebytes.html

Right click Malwarebytes and select run as administrator. Once open click update tab and do so.

Then click the Quarantine tab next to the Update Tab. If your Trojan file is listed there click restore.
This will put the file back in place.
Then run Malwarebytes again and see if it shows clean. If it finds something again click Quarantine option not delete.

There evidently is a glitch that has been fixed for false positives.

That missing file could be causing BSOD's.

I think it was a false positive. That is the only way I know to find out.

Dear Tech Support,

I think my computer has serious problems. I don't know what is wrong with it because it is very fast and works very good. But something it just crashes out of the blue and gives me BSOD. Mostly the BSOD is Memory Management or IRQL not less or equal.

I have followed your BSOD Posting Instructions. The OS on this computer is Windows 7 (32 bit), before I had Windows Vista as standard OS on it. The computer is approximately 4 years old, with "Intel (R) Core? 2 Quad CPU Q6600 @ 2.40GHz 2.40 GHz" processor and 3 GB RAM Memory. I also have the output folder and perfmon file attachted to this thread.

Thanks in advance!
Okki

I don't see any crashdumps. You aren't using any "cleaning" software are you? The problem with them is they'll clean up crashdumps, which we need to analyze (plus most of them can end up being harmful).

These crashes were caused by memory corruption (probably a driver). Please run these two tests to verify your memory and find which driver is causing the problem.

If you are overclocking anything reset to default before running these tests.
In other words STOP!!!
1-Memtest.

Quote:
*Download a copy of Memtest86 and burn the ISO to a CD using Iso Recorder or another ISO burning program. Memtest86+ - Advanced Memory Diagnostic Tool

*Boot from the CD, and leave it running for at least 5 or 6 passes.

Just remember, any time Memtest reports errors, it can be either bad RAM or a bad motherboard slot.

Test the sticks individually, and if you find a good one, test it in all slots.

Any errors are indicative of a memory problem.

If a known good stick fails in a motherboard slot it is probably the slot.

RAM - Test with Memtest86+

2-Driver verifier

Quote:
I'd suggest that you first backup your data and then make sure you've got access to another computer so you can contact us if problems arise. Then make a System Restore point (so you can restore the system using the Vista/Win7 Startup Repair feature).

In Windows 7 you can make a Startup Repair disk by going to Start....All Programs...Maintenance...Create a System Repair Disc - with Windows Vista you'll have to use your installation disk or the "Repair your computer" option at the top of the Safe Mode menu .

Then, here's the procedure:
- Go to Start and type in "verifier" (without the quotes) and press Enter
- Select "Create custom settings (for code developers)" and click "Next"
- Select "Select individual settings from a full list" and click "Next"
- Select everything EXCEPT FOR "Low Resource Simulation" and click "Next"
- Select "Select driver names from a list" and click "Next"
Then select all drivers NOT provided by Microsoft and click "Next"
- Select "Finish" on the next page.

Reboot the system and wait for it to crash to the Blue Screen. Continue to use your system normally, and if you know what causes the crash, do that repeatedly. The objective here is to get the system to crash because Driver Verifier is stressing the drivers out. If it doesn't crash for you, then let it run for at least 36 hours of continuous operation (an estimate on my part).

If you can't get into Windows because it crashes too soon, try it in Safe Mode.
If you can't get into Safe Mode, try using System Restore from your installation DVD to set the system back to the previous restore point that you created.

Hi its been about a year im getting random crashes and BSODs with my Vaio laptop, I recently restored the laptop to factory settings, hoping that it would fix the problem, but its just getting worse.
I am getting BSOD about two times a day , doing every thing : playing warcraft, skyrim ; copying files from a drive to other drive, listening to music ,etc..
before I restored to factory settings, a BSOD was sometimes shown saying : A clock on a secondary processor was not received or sth like that. I thought it was my graphics card so i started trying all kinds of drivers bot of no use.

Now with my new systems I get random Blank screens with Grrrrrr ing sound and when i reboot, windows sometimes says
Problem signature:
Problem Event Name: BlueScreen

and that's it, I'm hopeless. I even cleaned all the dust in my laptop , not even overheating

So what can I do now?

A:Random Blank screen (BSOD detected after reboot),now frequent!

0x101 bugchecks (the "clock on secondary processor" one) cannot be analyzed with minidumps. Access to a kernel dump (the big MEMORY.DMP file in your Windows directory) are smallest dumps necessary to ascertain cause.

As for the other crashdump you provided, it was a 0x50 crashdump which is very common. What I can tell from looking at the minidump, it appears the contents in one of your CPU's registers got roughed up. What caused it, I cannot tell from this, but I would most likely venture to guess this is hardware, primarily your CPU at fault (especially since you just did a factory reset and it didn't resolve the problem). The CLOCK_WATCHDOG_TIMEOUT bugcheck from the other crashdump would also add as evidence to this. Unfortunately, given that this is a laptop, unless it's (doubtful) memory that's the problem here, you most likely have a failing CPU or motherboard, in which case the whole thing will need to be sent for servicing or replacement.

If you wish to be absolutely sure it's not memory, then run Memtest86+ on your system for at least 7 passes. Note that CPU problems can still potentially manifest themselves in this test, so don't take it as a 100% guarantee that it's your memory.

Instruction at address fffff800`02ec3fba attempted to read memory address held in the rcx register to copy a portion of its contents into eax register. The memory address read was bad. Minidumps can't tell why, and this looks like a legit address, so nothing initially appears wrong. Let's look at the code flow to see where rcx originally got this address in the first place (using Disassembly window and giving it the address of the faulting instruction as the offset):

Code:
nt!wcsrchr:
fffff800`02ec3fb4 4c8bc9 mov r9,rcx < r9 has a copy of rcx's contents
fffff800`02ec3fb7 4533c0 xor r8d,r8d
fffff800`02ec3fba 0fb701 movzx eax, word ptr [rcx] < this is faulting instruction
...
While we haven't found where rcx got its contents, we did see that we should have an exact copy of rcx in the r9 register, as rcx moved its contents into r9. Let's see what r9 register says:

Code:
2: kd> r
Last set context:
rax=000000000000f400 rbx=0000000000000000 rcx=fffffa800b7c3000

r14=0000000000000000 r15=0000000000000000
r9 does not match rcx. There is nothing that should've caused the contents to have changed, meaning the context of the thread got messed up or the register itself got messed up (most likely register). This is indicative of hardware failure (primarily CPU).

Looking through the Event log, I see that this is a restore from the broken image
I would really suggest that you do a fresh clean install - otherwise things are going to get *really* complicated
(Like, you're already in the WGA grace period, because the hardware has been detected as changed)
Just don't activate the new install until you're happy with it.

hello, i've got a 4 month old ASUS desktop that has random BSOD. i'm not very computer literate and could really use some help. called ASUS and all they recommended was to send the computer in for repair. was about to do it until they said all my stuff would be wiped out. would like to try this first. the computer has been doing this since day one. it'll crash during use and other times while idle. can't figure out what causing this or why.

win 7 home premium 64 came preloaded on the machine. i added a Nvidia GEForce 430 card and a 2nd hard drive. also added an external usb hard drive. i don't think any of these adds are involved since the BSOD was appearing before i added anything.

i followed the instructions to include the zip file you need. have never done anything like this so i hope it works. my head is spinning lol!

It is usually very difficult to diagnose from a single DMP file and yours is no exception. While there is no direct evidence I strongly suspect your Symantec. I woud remove and replace with Microsoft Security essentials at least to test.

Download and run the Norton Removal Tool to uninstall your Norton product | Norton Support

I am not any type of expert on dump files, but I see some things that might be relevant. First, you can see the kernel is watching a driver, but does not specify which one.

DRIVER_VERIFIER_DETECTED_VIOLATION (c4)
A device driver attempting to corrupt the system has been caught. This is
because the driver was specified in the registry as being suspect (by the
administrator) and the kernel has enabled substantial checking of this driver.
If the driver attempts to corrupt the system, bugchecks 0xC4, 0xC1 and 0xA will
be among the most commonly seen crashes.
Arguments:
Arg1: 0000000000000091, A driver switched stacks using a method that is not supported by
the operating system. The only supported way to extend a kernel
mode stack is by using KeExpandKernelStackAndCallout.
Arg2: 0000000000000000
Arg3: ffffe00134722880
Arg4: 0000000000000000

The drivers below are from 2010, but because they are old doesn't necessarily mean they are causing a problem. You might check and see if you can find an update for them.

What is interesting is the Trixx.sys driver shows as located in your user folder and not in the Windows\System32\drivers folder. Not sure what happened, but if this is an older program, you may have needed to install it in some type of compatibility mode. It looks like the trixx.sys file is related to the Sapphire Video card, so the others might be also. You might check for drivers for the card to see if any new ones are available.

Hi, I am completely new to this, so please be patient. All I know is that my new computer has detected the Trojan files listed in the subject and I don't know how to get rid of them. I am running Vista premium and this is my first post, so I need to know what I can do to remove this stuff before it starts wreaking havoc. Thanks!

Greetings and Welcome to The Forums!!My name is Gringo and I'll be glad to help you with your malware problems.I have put together somethings for you to keep in mind while I am helping you to make things go easier and faster for both of usPlease do not run any tools unless instructed to do so.
We ask you to run different tools in a specific order to ensure the malware is completely removed from your machine, and running any additional tools may detect false positives, interfere with our tools, or cause unforeseen damage or system instability. Please do not attach logs or use code boxes, just copy and paste the text.
Due to the high volume of logs we receive it helps to receive everything in the same format, and code boxes make the logs very difficult to read. Also, attachments require us to download and open the reports when it is easier to just read the reports in your post. Please read every post completely before doing anything.
Pay special attention to the NOTE: lines, these entries identify an individual issue or important step in the cleanup process. Please provide feedback about your experience as we go.
A short statement describing how the computer is working helps us understand where to go next, for example: I am still getting redirected, the computer is running normally, etc. Please do not describe the computer as "the same", this requires the extra step of looking back at your previous post.NOTE: At the top of your post, click on the Watch Topic Button, select Immediate Notification, and click on Proceed. This will send you an e-mail as soon as I reply to your topic, allowing us to resolve the issue faster.NOTE: Backup any files that cannot be replaced. Removing malware can be unpredictable and this step can save a lot of heartaches if things don't go as planed. You can put them on a CD/DVD, external drive or a pen drive, anywhere except on the computer. NOTE: It is good practice to copy and paste the instructions into notepad and print them in case it is necessary for you to go offline during the cleanup process. To open notepad, navigate to Start Menu > All Programs > Accessories > Notepad. Please remember to copy the entire post so you do not miss any instructions. These are the programs I would like you to run next, if you have any problems with these just skip it and run the next one.-Security Check-Download Security Check by screen317 from here.Save it to your Desktop.Double click SecurityCheck.exe and follow the onscreen instructions inside of the black box.A Notepad document should open automatically called checkup.txt; please post the contents of that document.-AdwCleaner-Please download AdwCleaner by Xplode onto your desktop.

I did a stupid thing yesterday I downloaded an icon pack APK file on my computer to upload to my mobile Anyway the thing is when I double clicked on it BlueStacks Android Emulator opened up and Avast started giving me lots of warnings about BlueStacks accessing Trojan URLs it blocked them of course Now the thing is I scanned to not MBAM, when the detected file I Virus Avast detected & upload Gmail but in the APK file both in Malware Bytes Anti Malware and Avast and even Malware Bytes Anti Rootkit and it showed no virus or malware found But when I try to attach the the same APK file as a Gmail attachment which I read on the net detects viruses which is why I tried it Gmail gives me a Virus found error So my question is how come such reliable antivirus anti-malware programs like MBAM and Avast didn't detect the virus but Gmail did And more importantly though I have deleted the APK file in question from my computer is my computer safe Or has a rootkit trojan been installed

Keyboard not detected, Mouse not detected. Fatal Error, System Halted.

That's what the system said, in DOS, on the black screen. Of course, I had my mouse and keyboard unplugged at the time, because I had just unplugged everything to move the computer.

Anyways, I plugged the keyboard and mouse in, restarted the computer, and everything started normally.

My question is, what is with this error? Vista can't boot up if I don't have a keyboard and mouse plugged in? It's not a big deal, but it seems like very odd behavior.

A:Keyboard not detected, Mouse not detected. Fatal Error, System Halted.

This has nothing to do with Vista whatsoever. As you said it showed up on the black screen with white text, which is the boot screen. The computer hasnt even started loading windows yet. The fatal eror occurs because you have no input device. The computer recognises this, and given that they are important, it puts a warning up that there is no connection.
It is completely normal, really, and whatever OS you have, its going to do the same thing.

Hi guys,

I bought a bluetooth dongle off of amazon so I could use my bluetooth headset with my comp. Once plugged in it installs driver version 6.1.7601.17889 from microsoft and there are no yellow '?'s. When I look for devices it sees my headset no probs but will not connect, which it does instantly with phones / tablets etc.

A very detailed search has brought me to the conclusion that it's a problem with the bluetooth driver, not the headset. Unfortunately there are no identifiers on the dongle itself but device manager seems to think it's:

Device type: Bluetooth Radios
Manufacturer: Cambridge Silicon Radio Ltd

Is there anyway I can detect exactly the chipset in the dongle and get the correct drivers installed? Or am I barking up the wrong tree completely?

Thanks.

Hi!

I hope you're having a good December. Thanks again for your previous help this past summer!

A scan by TrendMicro picked up several infections, most of which it was able to clean up. But it wasn't able to remove PAR_SE.50425 and PAR_SE.50426. It also says I have a (MS05-004) ASP.NET Path Validation Vulnerability (887219), even though I have automatic Microsoft security updates. The first several minutes of a PandaScan (I didn't have time to finish it) found some SearchMeUp adware.

I'm so sorry, I can't remember how to Hijack This, otherwise I'd post that log, too. Any help you could provide would be greatly, greatly appreciated.

Thanks so much

I should have came to this conclusion sooner but my current re-installation of Windows has some problems that I haven t had the time to address until now What I need though is access to the repair function on the disk However herein lies my problem When I boot up media in the drive or no media bios does not show the drive in its list I can still open and close the drive as if nothing is wrong there but I cannot quot boot - not bios, detected by by drive Windows? CD/DVDROM detected from CD quot I ve reset my bios back to defaults and while the drive appeared on IDE Channel in the settings it still would not recognize ANY media while booting up I have the latest version of my bios I have also tried changing cables The drive is on an IDE channel by itself Once my system boots into Windows however the drive is recognized and acts normally as if nothing happened in bios Media CD/DVDROM drive - not detected by bios, detected by Windows? operates fine I have checked the event viewer and CD/DVDROM drive - not detected by bios, detected by Windows? there are no entries anywhere that states my optical drive has been experiencing problems and yes in fact it operates just like it always does Can anyone help me get my bios and cdrom back together again The problem is I just do not know where to start to solve this I wish I could say how long this has been happening but I really don t know as of today There have been no hardware changes in the past three months and my current installation and configuration began back in late April Thanks for your time nbsp

A:CD/DVDROM drive - not detected by bios, detected by Windows?

What is the boot sequence in the bios? should be CD or optical drive first, then Hard Drive or IDE-0 second if you want to boot from the cd-drive. Many computer manufacturers set the computer to automatically boot off of the hard drive by default so setting the factory defaults might not be what you are looking for. Look for the screen that has the boot order or sequence and just change it, exit and save settings and restart the computer with the boot cd in the drive. I hope that helps.

Hello all I'll explain in as much detail as possible and I thank everyone for their help I know my way around a computer in terms of basics but nothing intricate I got this PC custom built but nothing serious my dad put it together years ago and it worked great for him Before giving it to me he completely cleared the harddrive and bought me an OEM version of Win to install I've had it for months and had updated everything drivers etc I'm trying to get him on the phone to fill me in on the part details because they escape my memory for the time being Onward to the problem Couple of days ago when I came home after letting my computer quot sleep quot it would refuse to come out of its sleep status I'd force a power down boot it back up and at times a bit of text monitor input BSOD "no started randomly. Plus, detected" would show but then the monitor would blink off and say quot no input detected quot BSOD randomly. Plus, monitor started "no input detected" Kept trying BSOD randomly. Plus, monitor started "no input detected" to get it back up and every now and then it would work for random amounts of time no specific games or programs running aside from Firefox Sometimes I would get it to boot and then it would blue screen However the blue screen was so quick I couldnt copy the code it would just immediately tell me quot no input detected quot I found an old monitor one of those fat E-Machines monitors and swapped it out Booted the computer up and it went immediately to a blue screen and held I will type the code below By the way I am typing this from my laptop as I still cannot get back onto the desktop Here is the code I will do my best to get the dump files and etc based on the instructions of this forum but so far this is all I can get Maybe someone will recognize an older fix INTERRUPT EXCEPTION NOT HANDLED Technical Information STOP x D xFFFFF FC x x xFFFFF A A C It tells me its dumping physical memory to disk The only changes I recall making to the PC in recent times past two weeks was an updated nvidia driver and a Firefox update I'll get the PC specs ASAP but is there anything else I can currently try Thank you all so much UPDATE In an attempt to get the dump files via instructions in the How to Post topic I got a new screen after I ran the exe as an administrator The new BSOD is as follows MEMORY MANAGEMENT STOP x A x xFFFFF F x C xFFFFF C It tells me physical memory dump complete BTW I am running GB RAM I figured my memory amount is important to a memory error UPDATE After restarting and trying to get it going again a black screen with white text appeared repeatedly telling me quot CD-ROM Found Checking for file quot ASUS something ROM quot FILE NOT FOUND IN CD-ROM quot over and over Eventually it also told me a certain USB was not found There was a disc on my drive I removed it so I don't expect this black screen again Restarted and got a new BSOD that had no name to it after running the PC for about minutes It disappeared too quick for me to write down It ended up resetting my PC automatically several times in a row After this recurring resetting another different BSOD appeared It is as follows SYSTEM SERVICE EXCEPTION Technical Information STOP x B x C xFFFFF C xFFFFF x No dump was attempted apparently It's just sitting at this BSOD I'll have my dad the one who built the PC on the phone in to get system specs EDIT System specs updated

Windows 7 x64
I have installed a number of times due to OS corruption from the ridiculous amount of BSODing
Retail Version of Win7
PC is almost 1 year - at least 7 months
Running on this installation for around 3 months
Since this re-install, and a motherboard replacement, computer is slightly more stable.
For some time I have believed its the dodgy Generic PSU and am awaiting it arriving in the post. Will update accordingly.
Thanks As a programmer, I can see that quite an amount went into that information collection tool, and I am also impressed at the entire community working on other peoples dumps to help them, there is a ton of information to shift through in that collection tool!

A:Multi-BSOD (Mainly "Modification of system code detected")

These crashes were caused by memory corruption/exception (possibly audiodg.sys).
Please run these two tests to verify your memory and find which driver is causing the problem.

* If you are overclocking anything reset to default before running these tests.
In other words STOP!!!

* If you have raid update its Driver.

Memtest.

Driver verifier

Quote:
Using Driver Verifier is an iffy proposition. Most times it'll crash and it'll tell you what the driver is. But sometimes it'll crash and won't tell you the driver. Other times it'll crash before you can log in to Windows. If you can't get to Safe Mode, then you'll have to resort to offline editing of the registry to disable Driver Verifier.

So, I'd suggest that you first backup your stuff and then make sure you've got access to another computer so you can contact us if problems arise. Then make a System Restore point (so you can restore the system using the Vista/Win7 Startup Repair feature).

Then, here's the procedure:
- Go to Start and type in "verifier" (without the quotes) and press Enter
- Select "Create custom settings (for code developers)" and click "Next"
- Select "Select individual settings from a full list" and click "Next"
- Select everything EXCEPT FOR "Special Pool", "Force Pending I/O Requests" and "Low Resource Simulation" and click "Next"

If it doesn't crash for you, then let it run for at least 36 hours of continuous operation.

Reboot into Windows (after the crash) and turn off Driver Verifier by going back in and selecting "Delete existing settings" on the first page, then locate and zip up the memory dump file and upload it with your next post.

If you can't get into Windows because it crashes too soon, try it in Safe Mode.
If you can't get into Safe Mode, try using System Restore from your installation DVD to set the system back to the previous restore point that you created.

I went to connect today and my dialup connection was gone.  I thought, well, I'll recreate it....but Windows would not let me and said (in the Connect to a Network box):  "Windows could not detect a dialup modem", "Is the modem connected?", "is the modem switched on?"

It is an internal modem.

I went to Device Manager, and there it is as usual, "This device is working properly".

A:Dialup modem detected, but not detected, huh?

Doing some searching gave me this solution:

It is caused by certain services being shut off for unknown reasons.... definitely unknown in my case (??).

Delete or rename the following folder:
c:\windows\system32\logfiles\wmi\rtbackup
(the folder, rtbackup)

However, it has some kind of protection and doesn't allow itself to be so changed.  I did it from a DOS boot disk with NTFS4DOS.

Everything is working.

Win XP Home
Duron 600? (shouldn't matter)
ESS Modem

OK - When I look at Device Manager, the modem shows up. When I go to Properties / Diagnostic / Query Modem, it is fine.

When I run Juno, it is able to successfully retrieve e-mail (it just dials and connects).

I CANNOT connect to the web - Juno says that there is no modem installed. Upon further investigation, when I go to Connections and try to add a new connection, I am not allowed a choice of using a modem.

So - Device Manager and Juno E-mail both think that the modem works fine. Connection Wizard and Juno WWW both think that no modem exists.

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the modem, to no avail. Oh, and yes, it used to work, and I can't get the user to remember a specific time when it stopped working.

Suggestions? Thanks in advance!

Please download the TDSS Rootkit Removing Tool (TDSSKiller.zip) and save it to your Desktop. <-Important!!!Be sure to print out and follow all instructions for performing a scan or refer to these instructions with screenshots.Extract (unzip) the file to your desktop and make sure TDSSKiller.exe (the contents of the zipped file) is on the Desktop itself, not within a folder on the Desktop. Vista/Windows 7 users refer to these instructions. If you don't have an extracting program, you can download TDSSKiller.exe and use that instead.Double-click on TDSSKiller.exe to run the tool for known TDSS variants.
Vista/Windows 7 users right-click and select Run As Administrator. When the program opens, click the Start Scan button.Do not use the computer during the scanIf the scan completes with nothing found, click Close to exit.If malicious objects are found, they will show in the Scan results - Select action for found objects and offer three options.Ensure Cure is selected, then click Continue > Reboot now to finish the cleaning process.
Note: If 'Suspicious' objects are detected, you will be given the option to Skip or Quarantine. Skip will be the default selection.A log file named TDSSKiller_version_date_time_log.txt (i.e. TDSSKiller.2.4.0.0_27.07.2010_09.o7.26_log.txt) will be created and saved to the root directory (usually Local Disk C:).Copy and paste the contents of that file in your next reply.-- If TDSSKiller does not run, try renaming it. To do this, right-click on TDSSKiller.exe, select Rename and give it a random name with the .com file extension (i.e. 123abc.com). If you do not see the file extension, please refer to these instructions. In some cases it may be necessary to redownload TDSSKiller and randomly rename it before downloading and saving to the computer.-- For any files detected as 'Suspicious', get a second opinion by submitting to Jotti's virusscan or VirusTotal. In the "File to upload & scan" box, browse to the location of the suspicious file and submit (upload) it for scanning/analysis.

A:CD-ROM IS NOT DETECTED

Is your other machine running windows 95/98? If so do you have a start-up disk which you could try booting from? If you do this should pull in the cd-rom drive and you can then install windows 95/98 from there. You do not say whether this is an intermittent fault or you have never been able to use it, perhaps trying a different data cable would be an idea?

A:HDD not being detected

Is this the main drive that you are trying to install Windows on?
If so, you may need to download the Dos Sata Drivers from your Motherboard's (or computer manufacture's) support driver page

Is this an extra HardDrive (ie Slave) that you are setting up in your computer?
If so you may need to inialize the Drive by going to Disk Management in Control Panel (under Administrative tools)

Probably more info required

I was trying to fix my Ext HD as it detected as RAW. After struggling with any kind of methods I know, I give up, and I decide to format it. But, oh God, why is the formatting always failed. Is it the impact that I once marked my ext HD as ACTIVE when I was ostentatiously trying to fix my ext HDD?
Anyway I followed the instructions as Brink mentioned but still no luck for me.

Here is the error shown from diskpart

Can somebody please help this poor soul and tells me what's going on?
it's WD My Passport 1 TB

A:Ext HDD detected as RAW

The disk and its active/inactive partitions status should not have any impact when formatting a hard drive. The problem may lie within the external hard drives controller (the box its enclosed in) or the usb wire used to connect it. I would suggest pulling the hdd out of the enclosure and attaching it directly to a desktop (if available) and formatting it while its directly connected to a computer via its sata/ide port. Instead of trying to format it using the ext drive box and a usb wire. If the drive fails when in that configuration then the drive is more than likely a door stop.

So I have an HP Pavillion and it came with a 160GB Seagate HD. I just recieved a 320GB Western Digital. The Seagate was and continues to be set to Cable Select and the WD is set to Slave. it seemed there wasn't a selection for plain old Master on the Seagate. The only Master jumper setting was defined as Master = On Slave = Off and I took that as meaning if that was set then nothing could be a slave.

Well my PCs BIOS does detect the Western Digital but when Windows is loaded up and I go to My Computer I don't see it.

What am I doing wrong?

Hey everyone..

This isn't just the old "oh I forgot to update my driver"

Here's the story:

Recently I somehow got a bunch of viruses coming out of nowhere..and then I plug in my USB..it doesn't get detected...but my AVG does say that there are more Trojans getting detected..so I delete them

But now I try my USB on any computer and it wont work..

Is there this hidden software in the USB that allows it to be "plug and play"?

Even my hardware installation wizard wont detect it..

I had alot of stuff on it..4Gig worth..I'd love to get it back..

Thanks..

I just installed a new LG CD/RW. Straight switch.....I disconnected (but left in place) my old still working CD/WR and installed the new CD/WR in the slot below then took the ribbon and power off the old and connected them to the new. For some reason I set the jumper on the LG to CS and not to Slave where the old one was. When I boot up my computer the boot screen says: Primary Slave........Not Detected. I have checked in my Device Manager and all the Primary, Secondary and Slaves are there and they are working Properly........So is this just because I never set the CD/RW to Slave? What is the CS setting for? I read somewhere it was for auto detect.....am I wrong?

Ray

A:CD/RW.........Not Detected

It is almost certainly a jumper setting (unless you forgot to hook up the power). So just set the jumper to Slave rather than CS and it will detect (Espically since you say thats how your other one was and all you did was unplugged the ide cable from the old and connected to the new).

Cable select supposedly means you can set all the drives to cable select and hook them up and they will work. But I've always been skeptical of it, and just set it up manually with jumpers.

I recently pulled one of my old CD-RWs for A Creative DVD/CD-RW Combo. Pluged in the IDE and power. It powers on; can open/close. Made sure it was enabled in bios. It was. Then I start the CPU and it says there is no drive there? Is there a step I'm missing? It doesnt show up in device manager or anything. I'm pretty sure my IDE cables are still good since it was working before I put in the drive.

Make sure one of your drives has the jumper set to master and the other drive is set to slave.Probably best to have the new drive as master.Lots of pictures HERE

I just built my first computer, and I am trying to work out a few kinks here and there. I am running one HDD, a WD Raptor 150 GB, and for some reason, when I boot my computor, the BIOS says that no hard drive is detected, yet somehow it still manages to boot Vista, and the HDD is available once Vista is booted. I don't beleive it is causing any problems after boot, but it just seems odd that it wouldn't be detected by the BIOS. Did I do something wrong?

A:No HDD Detected

There may be a setting in your BIOS that a HD is present in addition to the one the OS is on.

For some unknown reason to me, when the computer is turned on it is displays that IDE is not detectd and then goes to a black page with white writing, asking if i want to put the computer into safe mode, last configuration or start windows normally. I have tried putting starting with safe mode and normally, but after selcting these it starts to load, then reboots itself, and the computer will not start up at all. What is Wrong With it and How can i fix this?

A:Help, IDE Not Detected?

It could be a bad sector which houses a vital part of the Laster Boot Record or maybe the disk has become unmountable. Either way, an answer lies within your XP CD, assuming you have one.

Pop it in and if it doesn't run first time, restart and tap Delete to Function 2 on startup to access the BIOS menu, then seek out the Boot Order or Boot Sequence and change it to CD first. Save the changes and exit (usually Function 10) and you should see a message to "Hit and key to boot from CD". Do that and the file copy process runs through. Press Function 8 when prompted to accept the terms of the EULA. At the enxt stall of the screen, select R for Repair and you will be offered the choice of which system to repair. Usually it's Number 1 so type 1 and press Enter. When the Command Prompt appears, type chkdsk /r, hit Enter and wait while a five stage process runs.

Then at the next prompt, type fixmbr and hit Enter. Accept the warning and when that completes, type fixboot and hit Enter again. One more warning and you can type exit to leave the system and restart.

Hopefully, it will work - if not post back for details of curing the unmountable disk.

Yes it sounds like the hard drive is shot. You could download and run some tests from here the Ultimate Boot CD has some good tools to check Hard Drive and Bios. Just read the info I gave you and give it a shot. Download the files, burn the iso and boot from the cd.

one day the printer stopped working and as well as other usb devices and the usb ports are no longer detected.

I tryed to reintstall windows but it came up with a blus screen (with somthings like windows has stoped this process)
as well i tryed to reinstall the mobo and other drivers as well as direct x what could be going on.

A:USB not detected

Good Morning newbee101, that sounds like quite a situation.
It is possible your hard drive or memory has a problem.

Your initial loss of USB's may have been a windows driver problem but in that you have attempted a reinstall that may complicate the circumstance.
Was there any material on the drive that was vital?

In the mean time try obtaining this little drive scanning program, it is called HDDRegenerator it can be tried free, download and make a bootable floppy or Cd with it, and boot your machine on it.
It has no effect on any data that may be present.
http://www.dposoft.net/
That is a first step to keep you occupied for a while. (it can be re-run)
Cheers, qldit.

Hi again,

I got my hands on a few hardware parts, to build a PC for my cousin.
In particular, this motherboard GA-M51GM-S2G is giving me a problem, I installed windows 7 64bit, but it did not detect any NIC adapters, any idea to determinate if it's really faulty? I tried to install Vista lan drivers, no luck either. Also, it does not show any unknown or installed Lan adapters under hardware manager. Oh, and I also flashed BIOS to the latest version, no luck with that either...

suggestions?

I am sorry to say it but the issue seems to be hardware failure mate. You can check whether the unit is still under warranty via serial number validation - WD Support / Warranty Services / Warranty Check for End User

Would it do anything to the pc i'm on just now (the one that i'd use to install)?

You are aware this is a Windows 7 forum?

XP is the alley next door.

OLD HD and weird noises, usually means: IT'S DEAD JIM. [or about to be]

Yes, I realize your name is Robert and don't call me Shirley.

Whenever a HD is making audible weird noises regularly, that is a sign of death is coming.... so much so that it should be backed up immediately and replaced, then wiped and disposed of.
[Using a sledgehammer is very very very satisfying! ]

Typically HD's get max 4 year warranty, that is what they gamble on, as it lasting for, as a minimum and not a bad idea to use that time frame as thinking about replacing one especially on a regularly used day to day PC.

Probably IDE drive, if you want a replacement, compuvest.com is a good place that still sells smaller old school (now) IDE fare.

I have a 250 seagate from my old machine as well as the DVD drive. Both worked fine yesterday. Both are ide. The manual says it will allow two ide devices to be hooked to the ide slot.

I have also tried another ide cable.

Any ideas?

A:No ide detected

Assuming that both the hard drive and DVD drive are IDE and that the new motherboard only has one IDE connector, make sure that the hard drive is jumpered as master and at the end of the cable and the DVD drive as slave and on the middle connector.
