Preferred Solution: BSOD when notebook sleep

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello everyone. For the past few weeks my HP notebook (elitebook 8470P) will not go to sleep or hibernate. When I attempt to do so, it will hang with the screen off for a sporadic amount of time, before getting a BSOD and shutting down. I have removed any recent drivers and installed applications, but cannot figure out whats going on (also have limited time since I am out of the state attending a training class). Any help would be greatly appreciated! See logs attached.

So you have uninstalled Daemon Tools? A good move indeed.

The later two DV enabled crash dumps are pointing to BlueSoleil Bluetooth Plug and Play driver.

But, the BSOD is happening due to Qualcomm Atheros AR9285 Wireless Network Adapter. The mainfold of the issue, pci.sys error.

As per title.

OS Windows 7 32 bit
Thinkpad X61T

I had windows 7 installed before and everything worked perfectly. I did a fresh install of windows 7, and from then on is not possible to put it to sleep or hybernate. It goes but you cna tell it does not do it correctly. It never resumes: sometimes it gives BSOD, some other it just starts like normal from power off.

Very strange ...

Attached all the dump files. Help!! Thanks

Several problems
1-SPTD.SYS, a huge BSOD problem.

Please remove any CD virtualization programs such as Daemon Tools and Alcohol 120%. They use a driver, found in your dmp, sptd.sys, that is notorious for causing BSODs. Use this SPTD uninstaller when you're done: DuplexSecure - Downloads

How To Find Drivers:

Quote:
- search Google for the name of the driver
- compare the Google results with what's installed on your system to figure out which device/program it belongs to
- visit the web site of the manufacturer of the hardware/program to get the latest drivers (DON'T use Windows Update or the Update driver function of Device Manager).
- if there are difficulties in locating them, post back with questions and someone will try and help you locate the appropriate program.

- - The most common drivers are listed on this page: Driver Reference
- - Driver manufacturer links are on this page: Drivers and Downloads

I am dealing with this problem for quite some time now, but was never too concerned about it. Now that I am doing a wifi hotspot on the notebook it really gets annoying (when the notebook gets to sleep randomly, I have to set up the whole hotspot again when I wake it up).

It's a HP Probook 470 Windows 8. I have all the settings related to sleep to 'never' but that PC still does it. Sometimes 1-2 minutes after not being used, sometimes it stays on forever.

When I check the event logs under System-Kernel Power it just says "The system is entering sleep. Sleep Reason: System Idle".

Where could the problem be ? Thank you

A:notebook goes to sleep whenever it wants

Hi -

See if resetting the power scheme to default settings helps.

Bring up the charms & select Search.

Type/paste power option - select it.

Click on "Change Plan Settings"

Lower-left - select "Restore default settings for this plan". Change all options to "NEVER".

Also - try selecting another power plan.

Hello everyone, I recently did a clean install of Windows 7 on my latop. It is a Pavilion G7 1320dx Laptop with Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit. I thought everything was working fine, but lately I've noticed that every time I close the laptop, and it goes to sleep, upon reopening the notebook, the screen either remains entirely black and I have to hold the power button to hard reset, or it boots to the "windows did not shutdown properly" screen and forces me to restart anyways, I've tried a few options already and I'm at wits end. I've updated the BIOS, tried a hard reset for 30 seconds with the battery removed, checked multiple drivers etc. If anyone can even possibly provide some insight on this issue I would greatly appreciate it!

Hi All,

I'm using a Toshiba Portege R700 notebook for video conference and meetings in my office, with Windows 7 Professional SP1 64 bit installed on it.

Lately till last week everything was fine, I had set the Power options and power plan selected is balanced settings to be never with all the settings when on battery and plugged in power supply to be never.

But still my from yesterday my notebook is going in sleep mode and getting locked, prompting login screen.
My company's big bosses use the same notebook for video conferences and presentations.

Please help me if there's any other settings which affects this.

I am using vista ultimate. Whats the deal with this?? Im totally stumped. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

As far as I know, I don’t have anything set to run at a specific time. Perhaps Tune-Up Utilities 2010? The power did go out last night during a storm but it was plugged into a surge protector……..

And along the same lines, I’ve noticed that when I leave my notebook alone for about an hour, I’ll come back to find it asleep even though I have my power settings set to not go to sleep when plugged in. This started about a week ago and I can’t seem to figure out why this keeps happening.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

It is very difficult to determine the cause of your problem from your brief description. If it happens again and you have an idea of the time, use the event viewer to determine a possible cause. Some process was at work to wake the computer. Is there any chance of a virus? Make a virus scan.

Hi Folks,

Am using company notebook Dell Latitude E6410 (core i3, 4GB ram), past 3 weeks notebook keeps hanging each time i send it to hibernate or to sleep. It happens with docking station, but also when it is standalone same thing happens.
am attaching several minidump files.

Could you give a hint what driver/software is causing sleep or hibernate process to hang, after which I have to force shutdown with shutdown button.
I dug bit through the minidump and found that
DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE 0x0000009f
and process ntoskrnl.exe

Thank you in advance

Hi.

Sleep mode was always working properly until a few days ago.

Now my notebook wakes up just after it got into sleep mode.

I did run cmd/powercfg -lastwake and it showed this:

Wake History Count - 1
Wake History [0]
Wake Source Count - 1
Wake Source [0]
Type: Device
Instance Path: ACPI\PNP0C0E\2&daba3ff&1
Friendly Name:
Description: ACPI Sleep Button
Manufacturer: (Standard system devices)

I understand that ACPI\PNP0C0E\2&daba3ff&1 is waking up my notebook.

What can I do to stop this ?

Any help is very much appreciated,

A:notebook wakes up just after enterd sleep mode

It sounds like your the sleep button itself is waking your computer. One thing you could try is disabling the sleep button's ability to wake your computer. You can do this in the power configuration.

Control Panel (All Items) > Power Options > Change Plan Settings > Change Advanced Power Settings > Power Buttons and Lid

Change the action of the Sleep button from "Sleep" to "Do Nothing"

   Tip
This behavior might also go away if your update/install the correct drivers for your notebook. I'm not certain which of the various sets of drivers you'll need, but you should be able to find them on your manufacturer's website.

My HP Notebook 250 G5 using Windows 10 has disabled the 'Sleep' option on my laptop. It has done it before and the old way I used did not work this time. The computer is working fine, it just cannot update to the newest version of Windows 10 because my storage is small and I don't understand why when all I use is Google Chrome.  But anyway, the sleep mode option is gone and that bothers me because the computer is just on with a blank screen and I'm worried that is going to eventually burn out the screen. I haven't had this computer for a year yet. Anyone have any solutions? They'll be greatly appreciated.  Thank you

Hi My Vista SP notebook has had no problems Except for this I put it to sleep last nite but this morning it was awake And there was an auto update installed MSE client update package KB The same happened several weeks ago And as I remember that had an update as well I have auto update set to run at AM What happened sleep while on in notebook mode? updates Vista here A Notebook problem where it did not go to sleep properly This is possible but I think I would have Vista updates on notebook while in sleep mode? noticed the led on B The auto update causes it Vista updates on notebook while in sleep mode? to wake up at AM and check for updates even when asleep Is that possible I Vista updates on notebook while in sleep mode? thought that only task schedular tasks could bring a PC out of sleep I see only one task that has quot Wake the computer to run this task quot It is MobilePC TMM which seems unrelated I also seem to remember that some NIC cards can be set to wake up a PC I have never fiddled with that thanks gordon

A:Vista updates on notebook while in sleep mode?

Yes, you nailed it. If your NIC card is set to wake the computer. It will wake you when updates are available. You can turn it off, if you like:
Device manager
Network adapters double click
Right Click
Properties
change settings
power managment
Untick the box wake

I have a HP TX2517cl Notebook. This issue just started a couple of days ago. Whenever I power up my notebook, it goes immediately into what I belive is the sleep mode. All the blue lights are on but the screen is blank. 2 blue light indicators around the keyboard are constantely flashing. I have to power off the notebook and p0wer it on again real quick and then it will start normally. I have turned off the sleep mode, I have turned all the displays and sleep modes to "never". But it still powers up in what appears to be "sleep mode". I have to power off and power on real quick to get her running again.

Hi Brink

I'm having a problem with my notebook. It keeps turning display off after idle for 2 or 3 minutes and going into sleep mode around five minutes after that. I did change and set power system in control panel many times but it did not work. I'm runing on Window 7 home basic 64 bit. I'm hoping you could help me on this. Thank you in advance.

A:My Dell Notebook keep turning display off and going into sleep mode.

Hello Taey, and welcome to Seven Forums.

While changing the advanced power plan settings, double check to make sure that your default power plan is still selected. It's a bit to easy to change it by mistake and not notice it. In addition, double check your Battery settings to see if the percentage levels may be set to cause this by mistake.

Hope this helps for now.

My Notebook Stream 11-r015wm with a Windows 10 operating system (which I have had for less than two months) went into sleep mode while I was away from it. When I returned I was unable to either wake the computer back up or shut it down. The screen is black and the power button is lit up as though it is still in sleep mode but as I've said I cannot get the computer to respond to anything I try. I have ALREADY attempted a hard reset but even after nearly 2 minutes of holding the power button down, it will not shut down. I do recall that it was wanting to update something shortly before this happened. Is there anything I can do to get it to shut down, restart, or wake up, short of sending it in? I need the computer for my studies and only have the weekend to fix this before my classes resume.

A:Notebook sleep/restart/shut down problem [Windows 10]

Hi, Rather than loading an old version of the imei driver, see if installing the version below makes any difference - I'd suggest doing this as follows. Open Settings and select System.  Select Power and sleep, then click on Additional power settings - in the following window, click on 'Choose what the power button does' in the left hand pane. In the subsequent window, first click on 'Change settings that are currently unavailable' ( near the top of the Window ) and then remove the checkmark from the box against 'Turn on fast start-up (recommended)'.  Click the Save Settings button, then close any open windows and restart the notebook. When windows has reloaded, download the IMEI driver directly from Intel on the following link, unzip the package and run the installer. https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/26127/Intel-Management-Engine-Consumer-Driver-for-Intel-NU... When the installation has completed, restart the notebook. When the machine has reloaded, re-enable Fast Start-up and reboot the notebook once again - let Windows fully load for a few minutes before checking. Regards, DP-K

My Dell notebook with Vista Home Premium always worked well regarding the Power option. Lately, the laptop will no go to sleep when left even though I have checked the power settings on plug in and battery and reset them. The display turns off at the correct time but the notebook never goes to sleep even hours after the designated time.

The only changes I have made are with the battery and I upgraded to Norton Internet security 2010 from 2009.

Whenever I press the sleep button on my computer, or when I leave it idle and it goes to sleep by itself, I get a blue screen of death. I would really like to solve this issue and it would be great if someone was able to help me ...

Now, this computer came with an AMD video card, but I uninstalled those drivers and took out the video card and installed a GTX 570 from EVGA. The drivers are up to date, so I am pretty sure the new hardware is installed correctly. Furthermore, it was not doing this for the first few months of having the video card installed. This is very recent, so I don't understand what it could be...

I've attached an image of the BSOD so you all can see.

Thanks for any help you can give

HIDCLASS.SYS appears to be mainly caused by mouse drivers.

Because a lot of driver power state failures are caused by graphics drivers I recommend updating yours as it is very outdated.
Here's some instructions if you are unsure how to update it.

Hello, so i think i have dealt with this bluescreen 3times now, and it seemed to have gone away after i went from my amd system to intel. But now its there again. The most useful function ever, wake from sleep, is now bluescreening my computer. I instantly tried to use the Disply Driver Uninstaller because thats how i solved this before, but no luck... So please, could anyone help me out? I have the dmp file too. (apparantly this support forum does not allow for dmp file uploads.... well..

Hope that works... (now i realise i could have used google drive and escaped the hassle of creating a mega account...)

Hello there,

I've been having BSOD since around 2/14/16. They have different codes and the most recent one was today error 0x000000d1. I've noticed that it seems to happen when I wake up my computer from sleep. My CPU was overclocked when this started and as of 2/19/16 I've reset it to default speed. My sister recommended this forum to me.

Thank you very much!

Lucia

Edit: I was looking through my images on my phone and I sent my sister a screenshot on 2/19 of a BAD_POOL_HEADER BSOD STOP: 0x00000019. We uninstalled my HP printer driver which was the newest driver at the time, uninstalled my NVIDIA video driver, downloaded windows essentials and scanned the comp (clean), uninstalled malwarebytes, reset CPU speed and installed the newest NVIDIA driver. I reinstalled malwarebytes as well and ran a scan (clean). Didn't have any issues until today.

A:BSOD when waking comp from sleep, multiple BSOD errors

Hello Milkpop and welcome to 7forums!

So you aren't overclocking right now?

The most recent BSODs were caused by cmudaxp.sys which is an ASUS audio driver, manually update or reinstall the audio drivers. You may need to uninstall, reboot, and perform a fresh audio driver install. You can download the new drivers from here:
https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/RA...Desk_Download/

Cheers, Boris

Recommendations:The lone crash points to your NVIDIA drivers and Atheros Wireless network drivers. Did you install the drivers using that 3rd party software you mentioned?

Please refrain from using 3rd party tools to update drivers on a notebook system. Notebook systems require special drivers for their specific power schemes, and 3rd party tools typically install drivers that are not meant for those power schemes.

Drivers should only be downloaded and installed from the manufacturer of the notebook PC.CLEVO - Download
Outdated and Problematic Drivers:You should update/replace/remove the following drivers. Any drivers that are known to cause BSODs, please remove the software or remove the drivers and then remove the device; steps to do so are given after the list of outdated drivers. If you have ASACPI.sys installed, make sure it is updated and not pre-2009; pre-2009 versions are known to cause BSODs:

psd.sys Sun Jul 19 14:17:45 2009 (4A637F69)

psd.sys - this driver hasn't been added to the DRT as of this run. Please search Google/Bing for the driver if additional information is needed.

To update drivers, make sure to download the drivers from the manufacturer and not using 3rd party programs. Your drivers should be found from your motherboard support site (ASUS, Gigabyte, MSI, etc.) or your vendor support site (Dell, HP, Toshiba, Sony, etc.) first. If you have devices you bought yourself, the drivers for those devices need to be downloaded from the manufacturer support site for those devices. If you need help, let us know.

To remove drivers, do so by uninstalling the device or software associated with the driver. Devices can be uninstalled through device manager, and then the device itself should be physically removed from the system if possible.Uninstall or change a program

Software Concerns:

3rd Party Drivers: The following is for information purposes only. My recommendations were given above. The drivers that follow belong to software or devices that were not developed by Microsoft. Hello cotanapadne.

As it is a new computer, the best is you take it to the vendor, as it is within warranty.

But if you want us to do something without wasting the warranty, my first suggestion is to uninstall Daemon Tools.

Then Get rid of Lenovo RapidBoot etc, follow Clean Up Factory Bloatware.

Some other things are also may be needed be done, you upload your MSINFO32.nfo file.
Click on the start button
Type "msinfo32" (without quotes) in the search bar of the start menu, click the resulting link. It will open the System Information window.
File>Save. In the "File Name" filed, put "MSINFO32" (without Quote), give the save location to desktop, and click the "save" button.
Give the time for processing, it will save a .nfo file on your desktop.
Zip it, and upload it following the instruction.

Hope someone can help me here. I get a bluescreen when I run a utility that is supposed to be a feature of the notebook(has a hotkey on the notebook and a big sticker!!TDE+ cpu and gpu turbo). Hi Craig,
You have several problems.
First you have only 1 hotfix installed so I suggest you go to Windows update then install the other hotfixs.

For troubleshooting purpose, it's better to uninstall AVG and replace it with MSE.
http://www.microsoft.com/security_essentials/

One dump file point to nvlddmkm.sys as the cause, so I recommend you to reinstall graphic drivers.
While reinstall, better to remove current driver with driversweeper then install the fresh copy of nVdia driver.
Guru3D - Driver Sweeper
Drivers - Download NVIDIA Drivers

Another dump point to ntfs as the cause.
It's related to file system so you must perform check disk:
Right click Command Prompt → run as administrator → chkdsk /f /r

Update these drivers:

Code:
regi.sys Mon Apr 16 08:19:10 2007 → Corel WinDVD (InterVideo)
Rt64win7.sys Fri Nov 27 01:45:07 2009 → Realtek PCIe GB Ethernet

What OS are you running?

The driver msahci.sys = Microsoft AHCI driver. The info you list shows the driver timestamp = 0x4549b198, which translates to Thu Nov 02 04:51:36 2006 - from the dawn of Vista. Neither SP1 nor SP2 appears to be installed.

Hello I have a Acer Aspire G which restarts very suddenly without BSOD It actually made only two BSODS but I cannot see a possible solution to the problem I just want help with analyzing the Bsods to pinpoint the cause of the restarts It is not memory heating harddisk problem - already tested It happens even when trying to boot Fedora Ubuntu So it must be some faulty component module on the motherboard In windows the PC either hangs or crashes at desktop The crash happens the moment I click twice on my computer or just the start icon I tried without battery and with other power supply - same issue Safe mode works okay I disabled all the drivers I could from msconfig but it made no difference centaur Thanks seems helpful but the system Notebook BSOD. restarts without is not stable to use this tool on it The system even crashes when I highlight an icon not even starting it The owner Notebook restarts without BSOD. of the notebook take it so I cannot work more on it Thread can be closed but not solved

Welcome
You dmps are showing code 116, and that can be a problem as small as a driver, but can be hardware, such as memory or worse
atikmpag.sys
You can update the driver.
If it is anything else it is most likely hardware related. Since it is new, you may want to exercise the Warranty. I know from past experience, too many changes will void the warranty.
Atikmpag.sys file descriptionProductname:AMD driver Description:AMD multi-vendor Miniport Driver Company:Advanced Micro Devices, Inc.

I've had my notebook for a little over a year. Yesterday evening I decided to defrag my notebook for the second time. It took about 3-4 hours. This evening I rebooted my computer and the screen went blank. I rebooted several times and still has a black screen. I am thinking it might be the video card. I need some advice. Thank you.

A:BsOD when booting notebook

I don't understand the Poll
Both answers can be applicable

BSOD can happen on BootUp drivers/Services or When running Windows Drivers/Services

It makes no difference. The point is you have a BSOD fault.

Also your question (relating ONLY to you)
Probably needs abit more info
Ie your System Specs put into your User Profile
What Video Card?
What Windows version
Have you got Antivirus installed? Is it updated ? And scanned?

The real question is, How do you remove that silly Poll ?

Hi -

Remove Daemon Tools/ Alcohol 120. Common driver sptd.sys named probable cause.

Remove Kaspersky Internet Security - also name probable cause.

KIS Removal - http://jcgriff2.com/A-V_Removal_Tools/KIS_Removal.html

You are running Vista SP1 and need to install all outstanding Windows Updates, including Vista SP2.

http://sysnative.com/0x1/Vista_SP_Prepwork.html

If BSODs persist, run the Driver Verifier -- http://sysnative.com/0x1/driver_verifier.htm

Hi -

You need to remove Authentium AntiVirus5 - it is listed as the probable cause of the most recent dump.

Use Revo if necessary --> http://www.revouninstaller.com/revo_..._download.html

Both Intel Ethernet and Intel wifi have 2007 timestamps on them - update the drivers -

http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Default.aspx

You are running Vista SP1 and need to update with Vista SP2.

Vista SP2 prep-work --> http://jcgriff2.com/0x1/Vista_SP_Prepwork.html

Windbg Logs
--> http://jcgriff2.com/dbug_logs/_99-db..._jcgriff2_.txt
--> http://jcgriff2.com/dbug_logs/_99-db...riff2_.txt.zip

Also, you have 1 GB RAM. Vista needs at least 2 GB RAM to run efficiently. I would suggest RAM upgrade.

A:BSOD on Cold boot new notebook

Hi, Dutch, and welcome to the forum. I am sorry your are having problems with your new computer. The dump does not give a specific cause; so you will have to troubleshoot.

Quote:
Error code 7F, UNEXPECTED_KERNEL_MODE_TRAP. Usual causes: Memory corruption, Hardware (memory in particular), Installing a faulty or mismatched hardware (especially memory) or a failure after installing it, 3rd party firewall, Device drivers, SCSI/network/BIOS updates needed, Improperly seated cards, Incompatible storage devices, Overclocking, Virus scanner, Backup tool, Bad motherboard, Missing Service Pack.

While you are troubleshooting, I suggest that you uninstall Eset NOD32 antivirus. Eset is known to cause BSOD's on some Win 7 systems. After you get your system stable, you can try Eset again; but I really don't recommend doing so. Download and install Microsoft Security Essentials in place of Eset.

UNEXPECTED_KERNEL_MODE_TRAP (7f)
This means a trap occurred in kernel mode, and it's a trap of a kind
that the kernel isn't allowed to have/catch (bound trap) or that
is always instant death (double fault). The first number in the
bugcheck params is the number of the trap (8 = double fault, etc)
Consult an Intel x86 family manual to learn more about what these
traps are. Here is a *portion* of those codes:
If kv shows a taskGate
use .tss on the part before the colon, then kv.
Else if kv shows a trapframe
use .trap on that value
Else
.trap on the appropriate frame will show where the trap was taken
(on x86, this will be the ebp that goes with the procedure KiTrap)
Endif
kb will then show the corrected stack.

I use the recover method from HP Notebooks to format and make a clean system. I have installed all updates from Microsoft. I had 3 or 4 BSODs in my notebook and I really don't what could cause this behavior.

Please help me fix this.

Update Deterministic Network Enhancer Miniport driver from (may be) Downloads - Citrix or uninstall it, which you find useful.

May be due to the system restore, to got back to very old.

Hi.

Download and install Driver Sweeper

Download the most recent software\driver for your NVIDIA

Uninstall nvidia software\driver,restart in safe mode, run driver sweeper, choose only NVIDIA-Display and clean, restart in normal mode.

Install the new ati software\driver,restart.

Update DirectX
Run the nvidia-video-card-test
Finish with these steps and post back here the results.

Upon powering on my notebook either things will happen:

1. Will lead me to a complete black screen where I can only move my cursor around then will blue screen and restart.

2. Scan and repair drive (Gets stuck then BSOD)

3. Show me options of refreshing / resetting etc but after completing a reresh or reset it'll BSOD

I've surfed through the forums and have been looking at some solutions but none of them have seemed to help.

Could you guys please give me a rough idea on what you guys recommend for me to do?

I've tried chkdsk and that has been stuck on for hours and hours. sfc /scannow does not allow me for some reason as well.

A:BSOD Upon Powering On ASUS Notebook

Are you able to get into Windows at all? If so, Please provide this information so we can provide a complete analysis (from the Pinned Topic at the top of the forum): Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) Posting Instructions Please use Option 1 as it provides Event Viewer logs.

If not, then I'd try a reset with the recovery disks. If you don't have them, you can order them from Asus. Here's a link on info about doing that in the US: Order Recovery Discs (USA)

If that still doesn't work, then start with these free, bootable diagnostics: Initial Hardware Diagnostics
If unable to boot to the discs, please post back for further instructions.

the first ones rimmptsk.sys , rimsptsk.sys , rixdptsk.sys are for your Ricoh Memorystick Controller ?
ATKACPI.sys etc are from Asus and you need to go to your laptop manufacturers website and download all the latest drivers ?
Also check you have the latest bios ?
finally goto the Realtek website and update your network card driver ?

let us know how it goes ?

BS Ho and welcome
A comman occurance in HP's these were all caused by your hpdskflt.sys file or hpdskflt.sys is a driver for the onboard mobile data protection sensor. In other words the accelerometer.

You can re-install and wait for it to happen or disable the accelerometer if not used. I am unsure of the warranty ramifications.

No DMP file included in upload try this method either you renamed *.dmp something else like *.dmp.txt or you didnt run Jgriffs app as admin
If you wish to have others assist you with your computer's BSOD symptoms, upload the contents of your "\Windows\Minidump" folder. The procedure:

* Copy the contents of \Windows\Minidump to another (temporary) location somewhere on your machine.
* Zip up the copy.
* Start your own thread in the appropriate section of the forum and attach the ZIP archive to your post using the "paperclip" (file attachments) button.
* Briefly describe the problem history and circumstances in the same post. Somebody will attend to your query as soon as possible.

My girlfriend's laptop is an HP 2000 Notebook PC, bought second-hand. It's only BSOD'd twice now, and each time it says BAD_POOL_HEADER. I've checked all the drives on the computer and they're all up to date. I'm not sure what causes this? If anyone could give me some insight it would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,

I've included all the files you have asked for to diagnose the problem.

The laptop had Windows 7 Home, but then I upgraded to Windows 7 Ultimate (x64) three days ago (through Windows Anytime Upgrade) thinking it would eliminate the BsOD. It hasn't. This began happening recently, but now it happens frequently. I have not installed any new programs when this problem began. My version of Windows Ultimate is a full retail version I purchased.

I purchased this laptop from my brother, but it shouldn't be more than a year old.

Thank you for your help,
Myers

You have three glaring problems

Your Avast , old drivers, and Zone Alarm (NETIO.sys).
I would remove avast and replace with Microsoft security essentials and the win 7 firewall. Remove Zone alarm.

The most recent crash was probably caused by an interaction between ZAP and Avast.

I don't see any minidump file in the one you just post. Please go to C:Window and make sure that the minidump folder is there with .dmp file in it. You might want to check if you have set system to create minidump file.

Quote:
Windows 7:
Go to Start and type in "sysdm.cpl" (without the quotes) and press Enter
Click on the Advanced tab
Click on the Startup and Recovery Settings button
Ensure that "Automatically restart" is unchecked
Under the Write Debugging Information header select "Small memory dump (64 kB)" in the dropdown box
Ensure that the Small Dump Directory is listed as "%systemroot%\Minidump" (without the quotes)
Click OK twice to exit the dialogs, then reboot for the changes to take effect.

Are you using any program such as CCleaner..? Are you sure it is BSODs?

Hello guys!

I'm new here and today was my 5th day of BSOD and it started making me crazy. Once I start my notebook, it opens everything as normal, connects to the wi-fi, but the if I click the trashcan, my computer it takes a while to open and it doesn't open programs that uses more memory like iTunes... After a while it opens everything as nothing has been done.. :/

I attached the log from DM Log. Let me know if you need more information.

I have a Print Server TP-Link TL-PS310U to share one printer and one External HDD and the program used to manage it is this one: MFP_and_Storage_Server_Setup_091006_049rev2_WHQL
Once I delete it's service all pages/programs that I clicked to open prompt the right way. There is something wrong with this program...

Thank you very much for your help.

A:MFP and Storage Server freezing notebook and then BSOD

Hi Light33.

The zip you uploaded does not contain any crash dump.

Follow it: Dump Files - Configure Windows to Create on BSOD
Go to Option Two, Point 2. Download the .reg file and merge it in registry by double clicking it.

Now wait for another BSOD. When it occurred, search the .dmp files manually in the default path: C:\Windows\Minidump or %SystemRoot%\Minidump. See if the crash dump is recorded or not (hopefully it will be recorded).Post it following the Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) Posting Instructions.

Dont run any disc cleanup tool before you post another zip.

A:Notebook doesnt work - BSOD even after re-formatting the HDD

look in Device Manager and let us know if there are any yellow exclamation or question marks by any of the device. if you have reinstalled all the correct device drivers too after you reloaded xp then there should be no yellow marks. what antivirus program are you using..?? sometimes a good utility like tuneup utilities 2009 would be worth investing in TU2009 will scan your hdd and system for problems and will fix them for you. including doing a good defrag. of the harddrive if it considers it needed.

Hi there I posted here a couple of weeks ago because I had a problem with my ASUS N JR notebook which gave me a lot of blue screens It ended with me sending my notebook in for RMA ASUS BSOD Notebook PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA ASUS N56JR switched out my HDD and sent the notebook back to me It took about minutes after starting it before I got a new BSOD I got bought some new RAM sticks but that didn't help either I have quite a lot of minidumps and I thought I'd come here again and see if we can figure this out So the BSOD's mainly appears when I play games If I use my NVIDIA card it takes about minutes before my notebook crashes and if I use the integrated graphics the crashes usually takes quite a while longer Sometimes they don't appear at all Thanks in advance ASUS N56JR Notebook BSOD PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA Best regards EDIT The message I get most of the time is PAGE FAULT IN NONPAGED AREA but IRQL NOT LESS OR EQUAL appears quite often too Whocrashed says the crashes are ASUS N56JR Notebook BSOD PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA most likely because of some driver ASUS N56JR Notebook BSOD PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA bug but I can't figure out what it is that's causing it

A:ASUS N56JR Notebook BSOD PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA

Your description seems to point to the nVidia graphics card.
This can be a driver problem, an overheating problem, or a broken hardware problem.
For starters please:
- download a fresh copy of the latest Win8 compatible nVidia video drivers from the Asus website
- uninstall the current nVidia drivers from your system
- install the freshly downloaded drivers
- monitor for further BSOD's

More to follow after I look at the reports......

You rebuilt the BCD (Boot Configuration Data), so that should be fine now.

As for what happened, all I can suggest is that some how a file became corrupted.  This happens with Windows, this is why they have System File Checker (sfc /scannow).

Hi Vallras & Welcome to the forums ^_^,

I have analysed your dump files and below has been provided an analysis of the same for informative purposes :-
BAD_POOL_CALLER (c2)
The current thread is making a bad pool request. Typically this is at a bad IRQL level or double freeing the same allocation, etc. I checked the Pool using !pool but did not find anything. Let's see if our beloved stack finds something -

So, the problem was that the Wireless driver freed a Net Buffer List which in turn freed a pool which was already freed. That caused the Windows to crash the system. The driver highlighted in RED is the YAC (Yet Another Cleaner) Rogueware which is causing the problem. This program is an Adware which is bundled with various other software. I would suggest you to uninstall this software ASAP.

Hi all,

I'm writing on battery power now, and computer is working fine. For some reason, it started BSOD after I plugged it in last time. I kept restarting plugged in, tried removing latest app updates via safe mode, but it would always crash when I went back to normal startup to welcome screen.

Then I unplugged the power, and it booted fine while on battery. FYI, I'm using a Lenovo Thinkpad T450S, so the power port is also a usb port. I'm now guessing this usb/power feature from Lenovo is the culprit, but hopefully the dumps can shed some light.

Thanks in advance,

Ed

A:Unplugged notebook from power and BSOD stopped?

Hi edwardotis,

Welcome to 8forums.

I'm currently analysing your dump files.
Unfortunately the error you had the most, kernel_security_check_failure(0x139), is one that is hard to solve because a driver asks to free time at another time then the error, my short description of the meaning of this error

A few possible solutions
- Open admin command prompt and type sfc/scannow, this checks if any windows file is corrupted.
If there are corrupt files found, please upload the cbs.log and the dism.log found in C:\Windows\Logs\CBS and C:\Windows\Logs\DISM (Change C if your OS has another letter)
- Scan your pc for viruses.
- Run driver verifier, this is a tutorial from sevenforums for windows 7, but its almost the same for windows 8.

Please update or reinstall following driver because it has been flagged with the other error you had. This could also solve the kernel security error.

Code:
*** WARNING: Unable to verify timestamp for Netwbw02.sys
*** ERROR: Module load completed but symbols could not be loaded for Netwbw02.sys

Dear community,

I'm getting some random BSOD's lately or my laptop freezes so I have to do a 'hard' reboot. I'm unable to pinpoint what change in my system started to cause the problem but maybe it is after I installed a SSD. But this may well be co?ncidence.

I am able to log on and use the laptop but sometimes after a while the laptop freezes or reboots with error code 0x0000000a. The faulty driver differs: ntkrnlpa.exe, ndis.sys and NETIO.sys.

I have ran a Windows Memory Diagnostic for 20-30 minutes and it foutnd no errors in RAM.
I hope you guys can tell me what causes the crashes. Hopefully it is an software issue and easy to fix.

Thanks up front!

Hi All,

Discovered the forum whilst troubleshooting a BSOD i keep getting on my notebook.

I don't have any specifics other than the dump file attached as this is a shared notebook and all users get the bsod which then requires a manual power cycle to log back on.

I have run the hp diagnostics utility using F2 at startup and all tests passed.

All assistance is much appreciated.

Cheers.

ASUS notebook K50IJ just over 1 year old with original OS (7 Home Premium 64 bit SP1). Daughter's college pc.
I am having very random BSOD's, sometimes more frequent than others. Had 2 today while trying to diagnose.
Steps taken so far:
chkdsk.....OK
memtest86+ for 2 hours.....OK
Ccleaner.....basic and registry clean
Malwarebytes full scan.....OK
I tried to run Windows Memory Diagnostics Tool, but it wanted me to insert a system disk on restart due to not finding the right files.
The only other issue that I can see is my Action Center has an hourglass sign and says "backup in progress". My daughter started this after the first BSOD and then it crashed again and was not able to finish the backup.
TIA for your time.

I just yesterday installed all new RAM and ran memtest86, so that's not the problem. Also ran chkdsk today, and my drives are fine. I even did a system restore to before the BSOD started happening, with no luck. The machine runs pretty smoothly for the most part (some lagging here and there), but this BSOD on sleep issue is driving me nuts.
Anybody have any ideas as to where I could find other error logs or anything to help diagnose the problem? Or should I just run a repair install of Windows 7?

You may need to configure your control panel to create DMP's

See the snip

Now next time it BSOD's try this

If you wish to have others assist you with your computer's BSOD symptoms, upload the contents of your "\Windows\Minidump" folder. The procedure:

* Copy the contents of \Windows\Minidump to another (temporary) location somewhere on your machine.
* Zip up the copy.
* Start your own thread in the appropriate section of the forum and attach the ZIP archive to your post using the "paperclip" (file attachments) button.
* Briefly describe the problem history and circumstances in the same post. Somebody will attend to your query as soon as possible.

I tried to put my computer in sleep mode (Fn+F1) and the screen turned off but it didn't go to sleep and about 5 mins later i just heard the windows welcome sound and when it started up it said there was a bluescreen. I just installed the new power management from my manufacturer (Compal) like windows told me to. Can anyone tell me what's up?

This seems to be a big issue with most users and it hit me too. This is a Driver IRQL error that hits before my pc sleeps. Help

A:BSOD - Right before Sleep

Welcome
There is good news and bad news the good news is that I have just solved this problem for another member. The bad news is that you cannot use the AntiVirus in current use. Totally remove your current anti virus and replace with Microsoft Security Essentials, in Windows 8, I think that it is known as Windows Defender. In any event it is part of your operating system.

I always put my computer to sleep before I go to bed. The next morning, I see that my computer has turned itself off. Upon starting, I am told that it's "recovered from a serious error" and it tells me the minidump directory.

I've attached my minidumps from the past couple of weeks. You can see that this occurs roughly every 2 to 3 days, or more often.

My specs:

HP IQ506 TouchSmart (all-in-one)
4 Gigs of Ram
All of the hardware is stock hardware

After reading a bunch of forums, i believe the problem is driver based. If anyone is able to narrow that down, I will be very grateful!

The dump files blame netr28x.sys - a component of the LinkSys RT2860 - also known as the RaLink RT2860 Series Wireless LAN Card.

Please:
- Download the latest Win7 version of the drivers for that device - if there isn't one at the Linksys site, there is one at the RaLinkTech website: Ralink corp.
- Uninstall the current software for that device from your system
- Install the freshly downloaded drivers
- Wait for the next BSOD

Hi,

New to the forums and looking for a little help. I am running Vista Home Premium. A few weeks ago I started getting BSODs when my computer sleeps. It does not BSOD every time but probably around 75% of the time. Let me know what info I need to provide; this is starting to drive me a little nuts

Thanks!
John

A:BSOD on Sleep

1) What is new or different since the last time everything worked properly (ie, new hw, new sw, virus, error, etc)?

2) While hibernation and sleep work fine for many, they also cause problems on some systems. It has always been my preference (and suggestion) to just set the hd and display to power down after a defined period of inactivity. It works for everyone.

First time on W7 Forum.
Thanks in advance for the help.

Built in Mid January. Everything ran fine until March 5th when I experienced my first BSOD. It appears that the BSOD is happening on wake-up. If I shut down and restart, things usually run fine. If I boot in Safe Mode, everyhting runs fine. Boot to BIOS OK.

I will attempt to attach zipped DMP files.

Thanks for looking!

Hello,
Norton needs to be removed - known cause of BSOD on some Win 7 systems. Run this removal tool to remove Norton: http://us.norton.com/support/kb/web_...834EN&ln=en_US

Use MSE: http://www.microsoft.com/security_essentials/

Run Memtest86+ and run at least 7 passes (6-8 hours): RAM - Test with Memtest86+
If no errors in Memtest86+, run Driver Verifier: Driver Verifier - Enable and Disable

Hey guys I have tried to tackle this one myself but am banging my head against the wall so need help with this My Sony Vaio VGN-NS L crashes every time I put it into sleep mode - this started a few months ago seemingly at random sleep on BSOD though presumably not random of course I've looked at BSOD on sleep the minidump to the best of my ability and figured that it's some kind of power state failure with my wireless card Atheros AR X I have tried the following thing Turning on off the wireless card's power management options Disabling the wireless card Both of the above result in BSOD on sleep the 'device manager' freezing up Booted in 'safe mode with networking' and disabled the wireless card and it worked - my laptop can sleep and wake normally again I went onto wiki-drivers and tried various options of the latest and previous drivers But as soon as I reactivate the wifi card the laptop crashes BSOD on sleep on sleep again If anyone can spot anything in the crash dump that I am missing I'd be very grateful At the moment I'm moving towards my last resort which is a full re-format and re-install of Win with no guarantees that that will even fix the problem Bad times

Welcome aboard, sturdul.

Update Realtek RTL8168D/8111D Family PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet NIC.

Code:
lmvm rt64win7
start end module name

Translations: 0000.04b0 0000.04e4 0409.04b0 0409.04e4
Get it from Realtek.

Also for the USB ports, first, uninstall and reinstall the USB ports drivers.
Right click on Computer icon > manage. It will open the computer management window.
Click on "Device Manager" in the left pane, it will list all installed devices up.
Expand "USB Serial Bus Controllers" by clicking on the triangle in front of it.
Click on one item to select, then right click and uninstall.
Do the same for all.
Restart the computer.
At restart, windows will auto configure the appropriate drivers.
And, Disable USB Selective Suspense too.
USB Selective Suspend - Turn On or Off

For the devices, first, detach all the USB devices other than the keyboard and mouse.
Then, Update the drivers for them all, including the keyboard and mouse, if any third party drivers are installed for them.

Let us know the results.

Hi,
I hate vista because i used to always get crashes whenever i put my laptop to sleep.
So i got the Windows 7 RC and it was awesome. It fixed everything. So i bought it a few days ago and it was running fine till today. THE F****** BSOD IS BACK.
So i used bluescreenview and looked at the dmp's. Although i have 0 knowledge in using it. Pretty much it shows some files and then shows ntoskrnl.exe in red. (i shall attach the dmp if it helps).

(I haven't actually seen the bsod as i just press sleep and leave, next morning i see the comp off and it boots telling me it fails at life)

Please help me before i go crazy and kill somebody.

Hi and welcome

this one was caused by your wifi driver (netw5v64.sys) which makes sense since whenever you wake or sleep it turns the wifi on and off.

I would download a fresh copy and install it
also
run a system file check
type cdm in search>right click and run as admin>sfc /scannow

let us know the results

Ken
