BSOD After a minute within Windows 7 or 8

Q: BSOD After a minute within Windows 7 or 8

Was having problems with my AMD FX 4100 and Windows 7 Bluescreen. Decided to install Windows 8 as I was told it didn't have the same problems and I couldn't get past the Win7 install...

Still getting BSOD. Attached dump file. Have checked memory, disk diagnostics. All good, as well as power supply. Linux fails as well. HIRENS BOOT CD-mini xp is the only thing that has worked for hours without anything happening.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Had one of the fake viruses on my machine and so I download and ran Malware Bytes it now appears to boot up fine but within a minute or two of being in the Windows screen it goes to a BSOD. I have booted the machine with the MSDART 7 program and have attached the dump file to see what you all think might be going on.
I apologize for not being able to run the utility from this site but it does not give me enough time on boot before it does the BSOD. Can someone please help. Thanks

We do need the DMP file as it contains the only record of the sequence of events leading up to the crash, what drivers were loaded, and what was responsible.

If you are overclocking STOP
We could also use some system information, which you can get easily by running msinfo32.
To do that go to start>run>type msinfo32>enter

When it is finished running go to file>save>name it and upload to us here.
You may be able to get the DMP files without crashing by booting into safe mode (F8) with networking.

To enable us to assist you with your computer's BSOD symptoms, upload the contents of your "\Windows\Minidump" folder.

The procedure:

Quote:
* Copy the contents of \Windows\Minidump to another (temporary) location somewhere on your machine.
* Zip up the copy.
* Attach the ZIP archive to your post using the "paperclip" (file attachments) button.
*If the files are too large please upload them to a file sharing service like "Rapidshare" and put a link to them in your reply.

To ensure minidumps are enabled:

Quote:
* Go to Start, in the Search Box type: sysdm.cpl, press Enter.
* Under the Advanced tab, click on the Startup and Recovery Settings... button.
* Ensure that Automatically restart is unchecked.
* Under the Write Debugging Information header select Small memory dump (256 kB) in the dropdown box (the 256kb varies).
* Ensure that the Small Dump Directory is listed as %systemroot%\Minidump.
* OK your way out.
* Reboot if changes have been made.

A:BSOD about 1 minute after starting

I think I found a solution for this problem. I deleted all services from the autostart menu besides ms and the intel stuff. After a restart bsod didn't show anymore (something like 30 minutes ago). This doesn't mean much since it could happen again anytime.

Just thought it might help somebody.

Cheers,

A:WinXP Home - BSoD within a minute after logging in

Try removing one of your memory sticks and see if that stops the problem. If not swap the sticks so you try to boot up with each stick individually.

Always disconnect the power supply and earth your hands before touching the memory.

Since we don't know about your hardware we have to guess over heating, Power or drivers/ patches.

Can you give us a bit more detail about the above?

Hi there So this problem started on Thursday evening i had watched a movie on after minute startup 0x124 roughly BSOD 1 everytime. Amazon Prime on my computer and not too long after maybe - minutes i came across a blue screen Now ive had a few before and i figure no big deal just restart and go back to what i was doing Problem is everytime i turn my computer back on the i get the BSOD again after about a minute or of being signed in Strange thing is this does not happen if i log into safemode BSOD 0x124 roughly 1 minute after startup everytime. or turn the computer on and just dont log in so you would think the problem would be a driver fault After much research online trying to find different solutions to this problem so far everything ive tried has failed so far i have attempted Disc Check Memory Check Virus Scan Cleaning the computer and components from dust Unplugging and re-plugging whatever i can inside the tower BSOD 0x124 roughly 1 minute after startup everytime. Memory cards etc Updating drivers I used Driver Booster for this and a few other little things that didnt really do anything As you can probably tell already i am somewhat of a novice when it comes to this kind of thing so if you think you may have a solution to my problem id love to hear it though i may need some step by step instructions If you need anymore information please ask Thanks Here is the most recent log i got from Event Viewer Log Name System Source Microsoft-Windows-Kernel-Power Date Event ID Task Category Level Critical Keywords User SYSTEM Computer Tom-PC Description The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first This error could be caused if the system stopped responding crashed or lost power unexpectedly Event Xml lt Event xmlns quot http schemas microsoft com win events event quot gt lt System gt lt Provider Name quot Microsoft-Windows-Kernel-Power quot Guid quot C B A- - C -AC E- C D B quot gt lt EventID gt lt EventID gt lt Version gt lt Version gt lt Level gt lt Level gt lt Task gt lt Task gt lt Opcode gt lt Opcode gt lt Keywords gt x lt Keywords gt lt TimeCreated SystemTime quot - - T Z quot gt lt EventRecordID gt lt EventRecordID gt lt Correlation gt lt Execution ProcessID quot quot ThreadID quot quot gt lt Channel gt System lt Channel gt lt Computer gt Tom-PC lt Computer gt lt Security UserID quot S- - - quot gt lt System gt lt EventData gt lt Data Name quot BugcheckCode quot gt lt Data gt lt Data Name quot BugcheckParameter quot gt x lt Data gt lt Data Name quot BugcheckParameter quot gt xfffffa f lt Data gt lt Data Name quot BugcheckParameter quot gt xbf lt Data gt lt Data Name quot BugcheckParameter quot gt x lt Data gt lt Data Name quot SleepInProgress quot gt false lt Data gt lt Data Name quot PowerButtonTimestamp quot gt lt Data gt lt EventData gt lt Event gt

Hi thomas980,

Your problem sounds like a corrupt part of the initialization at winlogon, note that this could be corrupt services, drivers and such, not something from Windows. First remove the drivers installed by Driver Booster 3, these will make things worse, and check Gigabyte for driver updates instead.
Second, update the BIOS to version FC, I do not know what rev. version your motherboard is so double check before downloading
GIGABYTE - Motherboard - Socket 1150 - GA-H81M-D2V (rev. 2.1)

   Warning
Programs that claim to update your drivers install either the wrong or corrupted drivers.
If you have installed any driver with Driver Booster 3, please remove them as it may cause trouble.

An easy way to get remove these drivers is by using a restore point prior the installation.

If updating the BIOS & removing + updating drivers does not work, try a clean boot.

Diagnostics Test

 Clean boot

Please try the following:Search msconfig and open itGo to the tab services
Check 'hide microsoft services'
Uncheck all other services
Go to the tab startup
Disable everything

Click apply and click ok
Reboot if asked
See if the problem persist, if the problem does not persist enable in the startup tab in taskmanager 1 item and in the services tab in msconfig also 1 service, reboot and see if the problem persist. Keep doing this until you find the culprit or there is nothing left.
The dumps show that the CPU reported an internal unclassified error, unfortunately this is not of much use because it means the error is not publicly documented.

Spybot does catch stuff sometimes, but its known to corrupt the system down as well.
Suggest you to uninstall it.

I and many members on our forum recommend Microsoft security essentials with
a great combination of Malware Bytes.

→ Microsoft Security Essentials - Free Antivirus for Windows
→ Malwarebytes - The Free version
→ Good and Free system security combination.

Run a full scan with both (separately) once downloaded, installed and updated.

In addition, Run this tool and delete anything it finds:
→ Anti-rootkit utility TDSSKiller

Run the system file checker to repair any corrupted files
→ SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker

Then run disk check for hard disk for file system errors and bad sectors on it
→ Disk Check

Keep us posted of the results

Greetings and Welcome to The Forums!!My name is Gringo and I'll be glad to help you with your computer problems. I have put together somethings for you to keep in mind while I am helping you to make things go easier and faster for both of usPlease do not run any tools unless instructed to do so.
We ask you to run different tools in a specific order to ensure the malware is completely removed from your machine, and running any additional tools may detect false positives, interfere with our tools, or cause unforeseen damage or system instability. Please do not attach logs or use code boxes, just copy and paste the text.
Due to the high volume of logs we receive it helps to receive everything in the same format, and code boxes make the logs very difficult to read. Also, attachments require us to download and open the reports when it is easier to just read the reports in your post. Please read every post completely before doing anything.
Pay special attention to the NOTE: lines, these entries identify an individual issue or important step in the cleanup process. Please provide feedback about your experience as we go.
A short statement describing how the computer is working helps us understand where to go next, for example: I am still getting redirected, the computer is running normally, etc. Please do not describe the computer as "the same", this requires the extra step of looking back at your previous post.NOTE: At the top of your post, click on the Watch Topic Button, select Immediate Notification, and click on Proceed. This will send you an e-mail as soon as I reply to your topic, allowing us to resolve the issue faster. NOTE: Backup any files that cannot be replaced. Removing malware can be unpredictable and this step can save a lot of hartaches if things don't go as planed. You can put them on a CD/DVD, external drive or a pen drive, anywhere except on the computer. NOTE: It is good practice to copy and paste the instructions into notepad and print them in case it is necessary for you to go offline during the cleanup process. To open notepad, navigate to Start Menu > All Programs > Accessories > Notepad. If I logon in safe mode with network I don't have any problem (so I guess not be a HW problem).

I run the HP HW diagnositcs but everythings seems to be ok.

I tried to reinstall the nvidia driver but I did not work.

I did not install new driver, new program, what happened was that one day I switch-off my laptop and start facing the problem.

I have been spent a week to looking for a solution but nothing seem to work.

I installed whoCrashed but the information I got are useless because it reports ntoskrln.exe as likely caused but no info about the driver the caused the problem
This was likely caused by the following module: ntoskrnl.exe
Bugcheck code: 0xC4 (0x91, 0x2, 0xFFFFF80003400C40, 0x0)
Error: DRIVER_VERIFIER_DETECTED_VIOLATION

file path: C:\Windows\system32\ntoskrnl.exe
product: Microsoft? Windows? Operating System
company: Microsoft Corporation
description: NT Kernel & System
The crash took place in a standard Microsoft module. Your system configuration may be incorrect, possibly the culprit is in another driver on your system which cannot be identified at this time.
I run PowerSuite, but it did not resolve.

The OS is original installed by HP.

Could you please help me

I run the exe I have downloaded from you site and put the result in the attached file

These were all virtally identical. they were caused by VBoxNetAdp.sys This file is from Sun Microsystems, Inc. and belongs to product Sun VirtualBox.

I would remove the offending app and driver to test

You also have some really old driver from circa 2005. They need updating.

How To Find Drivers:

Quote:
- search Google for the name of the driver
- compare the Google results with what's installed on your system to figure out which device/program it belongs to
- visit the web site of the manufacturer of the hardware/program to get the latest drivers (DON'T use Windows Update or the Update driver function of Device Manager).
- if there are difficulties in locating them, post back with questions and someone will try and help you locate the appropriate program.

- - The most common drivers are listed on this page: Driver Reference
- - Driver manufacturer links are on this page: Drivers and Downloads

A:Windows 7 x64 Freezing for up to a minute

Hello Gerard, How old the laptop is, is it under warranty still?

If it is, take it to the vendor for a check up.

If it is not (then only, coz it will make your warranty void), you may need to open the laptop, make some cleaning, reseat the RAM modules, sata ports etc.

OK, so starting off, i have read over all of the other posts and have found none of them work.

My computer locks after 1 minute, this started today, i have not changed any settings, nor have I recently as I have had this computer for a while.  I have looked at all of the settings and i have all of the sleep/hibernation functions turned off.
I have the "lock screen on wake up" function also turned off.  I do however have it set to dim, and then turn off the display after 1 minute, but this has nothing to do with the sleep function.  It does not dim the display before locking, only after,
as if it wasnt locked, please give me anything you can to help as this randomness is very irritating.

Upgrade the BIOS to the latest version. If it does not help, please try to troubleshoot in Clean Boot Mode.

Hi I was using my computer today when I randomly got the Windows Will Down Less A Than In Minute? Shut quot Windows Will Shut Down In Less Than A Minute quot dialog just after Windows Will Shut Down In Less Than A Minute? postponing an automatic update for hours Luckily I was fast and opened Run and used quot shutdown exe -a quot to stop the shutdown The dialog was exactly the same as when I run quot shutdown exe s quot from Remote Desktop While port is open for remote connections IS open in my routers firewall I have made certain that I must already be logged in as an admin and the firewall must be turned off before an external connection from outside my local network can be made my local network is secured by MAC filtering There was a Standard User account with no password but you can only get as far as the logon screen as it has no rights to use remote desktop I have since removed the account just in case My gut feeling is I accidentally clicked quot Restart Now quot instead of quot Postpone quot in the update window Also If someone where trying to get in they would have made another attempt by now Any ideas or explanations would be greatly appreciated Thanks

A:Windows Will Shut Down In Less Than A Minute?

Welcome to the Seven Forums.

Your gut feeling is probably correct.

But, if someone had managed to get in and that someone managed to put some files/changes in place that required a restart, then that would explain why no further (visible) connection "attempts" have been made/noticed. One or more offline scans of the computer might put your mind at ease. (7 Bootable Antivirus Rescue Discs For Offline Scanning)
Do you use the remote desktop connection to the computer as a part of a business?

I think I have found that it only does this when the following process was running: 47mDGHG7.exe

I have no clue what that is from as I have tried running scans on my computer with Kaspersky AV09 and during the full scans my computer would restart and some of the viruses were not completed deleted. I then restarted my computer in safe mode and ran a full scan, which finished completely.

But this still keeps happening. It usually doesn't start up right away, maybe after 20 minutes my browser or whatever will deselect and minimize and this process pops up.

I've tried searching a few forums but I couldn't find anything quite like my problem. So please can you get this crap off my computer!?

This happens periodically without warning. I have ran my Antivirus scans in Safe Mode and in regular mode. I also have Malware-Bytes installed and ran a quick scan and a Full System scan and have found nothing out of the ordinary. Also, for some reason I see "Test Mode Windows 7 Build 7601" at the bottom right corner of my screen. Could this be causing the problem? How do I get rid of that and how do I fix the shutting down problem? I just installed CPUID HWMonitor so I can check my temps the next time that happens but I'm running pretty cool at the moment. Help me please...

Also, I have 2 video cards installed but this was happening before I installed the second video card.

I downloaded and installed Windows 8.1 Pro a few days ago from TechNet. I'm logged in only with my Microsoft account (not a Domain account).
For some reason, it logs me out automatically after one minute and takes me back to the login screen where I have to click and enter my password in. I checked all of the Power settings and the Screen Saver is off.
Also, I've wanted to disable the login screen entirely since I live alone.  I've seen many articles about being able to disable it by unchecking the box in the netplwiz app, but the option doesn't even exist.
Thanks in advance!

A:Windows 8.1 automatically logs me out after one minute

Hi,
According to your description, it's hard to definite where the problem it is, it's probably the system file corrupt that caused this problem, you can try to recover your system for test, if there was no use, may be you need to make a system refresh for your
computer.
Please refer to the link below for more details about Windows 8 system refresh.

From display of logo to log-in screen is taking from 2 minutes to 10 minutes. (It caries from boot to boot.) HDD light is so active it seems to burn continuously. It looks like defrag, but neither Windows nor Auslogics defrag has scheduled tasks.

CCleaner shows nothing in Startup that could be an "activity."

Where or how can I find out what Windows was doing all this time?

A:Windows 10 takes 1 minute to boot

Hi, in no particular order:

1. Basics: your disk- try
From an admin command prompt
[Windows key + X, click command prompt (admin)]
chkdsk C: /F
Your PC will need to restart.
Make sure the result is clear or fixed.
Post back the result, which you can get after a restart as follows:
How do I see the results of a CHKDSK that ran on boot? - Ask Leo!

You can also check its SMART parameters - e.g. Crystal diskinfo (free).

2, noted you have tried a clean boot.
Are services back to default? It's not worth playing about with those unless you are a real expert- too many dependencies.
If unsure, you can try Tweaking.com's cautious free repair tool, repairs 26,27 only.

3, here's a clue about tools you might use to analyse startup performance:
Windows Performance, Speed Up Boot Time, Xbootmgr | TechNet

4, are you confident registry settings are back to default? E.g. did you back up and restore the registry, or set ad use a system restore point?

5, have you tried disabling fast startup?

6, have a look at threads (preferably solved) like this - search for
slow boot
Solved Slow boot on Win10 compared to Win7 - Windows 10 Forums

7: are you confident your laptop (what is it? please complete system specs..) is listed as compatible with Win 10?

Help - When I try to Start any program, there is approximately a two minute delay before the Programs list appears. Any time I try to start Windows Explorer, there is a two minute delay.

Once I am in a program, e.g., AOL 9.1, the PC performs as usual. If I try to start an Internet Explorer, the same two minute delay. Printing, a two minute delay. Obce the IE has started, response on the web is as usual.

This is the second time I have experienced this bug, I believe it is a virus. The only way to get away from this problem is to re-install the OS!!

I ca't get the McAfee scan to start, so I can't even scan for a virus.

I have a Compaq laptop that works fine except for the following. When I start Window Explorer to access the C:, D:, or A: drive it hangs for about one minute. That is when I start it with 'Windows key' + 'e' or click on the explorer icon it defaults to the computers drives. The odd part is when I start explorer from CMD prompt it defaults to the 'my documents' it starts immediately. If I go to desktop, network it is very fast, as soon as I click on the 'My Computer' to access the drives it hangs again. Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

Hi guys,

I've had x64 win7 installed for about a month, no troubles until now.

The last few days, whenever I shut down the PC for the night the "shutting down" screen is displayed for more than 15 minutes, at this point I just turn it off via the front power button on the case as I'm afraid to leave it all night saying that as I'm not that tech savvy.

Is there any way to figure out what's going on with the shutdown process? The following morning it starts up fine, and I restart with a disk check that comes up fine.

A:Windows 7 x64 15 minute+ shutdown (timeout?)

Welcome!

That is usually caused by a program that takes forever to close. What happens if you shut down as soon as it boots?

Next time, before you shut down, end half of the processes in Task Manager. Be sure to record which ones you close!

If the shutdown is quick, you know the rogue process is in that half. If not, try the other half. From there you can narrow it down further until you identify which program is causing the hang.

Windows 8 automatically locks after 1 minute of inactivity, how can I disable this?

A:Windows 8 automatically locks after 1 minute of inactivity

Hey,

you should check out http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/w8itprogeneral/thread/ace4085a-b0ba-4a98-898d-cd92d9e88e13!

I had the same problem after adding my google mail account to the Windows 8 mail app. The Google apps account tried to enforce some
security settings which led to the same symptoms (screen saver 1 minute issue) in my case.

The solution was to Reset the Security Polices under "User Accounts".

Emanuel

Hello everyone Right my problem started about months ago I built a new machine to a very good spec Everything was working fine for a couple of months super fast When i log into windows now from boot my machine just holds for about secs to min i cannot access My Computer Network Connections etc it just freezes then all of a sudden everything will just open up at once the most frustrating part is that it can take me about a minute to get onto the internet when it used suspends Windows - computer minute! about for login 1 to be about secs Wireless and wired connections it started happening since I installed VMware on my machine i think I have not removed this as I need it Although I have disable all of my network adapters associated with VMware as I thought this could be the issue However this has not resolved the issue I have had this problem in the past a few years back and I did manage to Windows login - computer suspends for about 1 minute! sort it out BUT as it was so long ago I have no idea how I managed to sort it out I can only think maybe its a software issue or possibly some windows service Surely someone on here has heard of or had this problem theirselves I look forward to your replies I can assue you that this is NOT A HARDWARE ISSUE I would like to also add that my computer is working extremely quick and efficiently once that first minute is out of the way

Hi This is a strange one Whenever I boot my system it makes it to the login screen in about seconds Then stays there frozen for about a minute before I can type in my password The problem is due to the mouse and keyboard not working they do eventually work if i no at 1 mouse/keyb Windows then minute for login ok 8.1 wait Windows 8.1 no mouse/keyb at login for 1 minute then ok long enough The mouse is wired USB and the keyboard wireless USB Now where it gets weird is that the mouse and keyboard work if i hot del to go to bios setup So they are getting power it just that when it gets the login screen something kills all the usb ports and then bring them back on-line When i first installed the delay before the keyboard worked was about seconds now it's about minute I'm booting of an SSD with the latest i So speed should not be an issue I examined startup services and did not see anything that should not be there Not sure what to do next BY the way once it does boot and I'm logged in everything works as it should Nick

A:Windows 8.1 no mouse/keyb at login for 1 minute then ok

Your answer is in your post, as you use your computer, eventually other things get added to your STARTUP. That time when you can't do anything is when Windows is booting the Drivers for your Wired Mouse and Wireless KB - Also, Sometimes a Wireless KB needs have you press the "connect" button.

If you added any new items to Startup, and you may not be aware of what has been added, you can always go in and disable the items and the "frozen" time should go back down to 15 seconds.

Look for things like Skype, Onenote, Bing Desktop, or any Messenger Apps - These can all be shut off. Leave anything else that is related to your KB and Mouse, oir if you have any server software that runs at boot- Like the server for any Remote iPhone or Droid apps.

A:40 Minute Boot Windows 8.1 x64 Fresh Install

For added information: I am using an app called Clockworkmod Tether, to bypass WiFi tethering on my phone and utilize USB tethering. This requires a Tap-Win32 connection. I've seen other folks who have had issues with these, so I removed all traces of it, to no avail.
Furthermore, activation receives the error: The filename, directory name, or volume label syntax is incorrect. (Error code: 0x8007007B)
Attempting to update, I get this one: WindowsUpdate_dt000+OR+8024402F
I've attempted to manipulate the settings, and even tried switching to the generic install key from the MSDN website, to absolutely no avail/ If I didn't have to have Windows 8.1 on here in the first place (long story that involves an irate but insistent customer and a lot of stress), I would format, install Ubuntu, put up a Win7 VM for games, and be done with it. I've never met, in 20 years of working on computers, a more stubborn and contrary install as this one.

Hi all, and thanks in advance for your advice. My system has been dragging, programs hanging, shut downs lagging...it's time for another wipe and fresh install. I've done it several times in the past, but I just want to make sure I have it covered. I've backed up my important docs, pics, video, music, and outlook data, twice.

Other than having the cd's or license keys to reinstall apps, what else should I do before wiping the disk clean and reinstalling? If I've backed up my outlook data folder, does that mean my folders under the inbox will restore as well or just emails in the inbox?

Thanks for your help

Hello I'm currently experiencing minute reinstallation boot 20 of even Windows time, after an issue with a Visa Business laptop where it had suddenly been taking approximately minutes to boot after running various virus scans and checking through the boot logs I was unable 20 minute boot time, even after reinstallation of Windows to find a solution and as such decided to reinstall Windows to resolve my problem However I have found that even after completely reformatting the drive and reinstalling Windows Visa I am still experiencing this extremely long boot time I have observed that the long boot time does not occur if I select to boot in to safe mode 20 minute boot time, even after reinstallation of Windows and for a large majority of the time when the computer is booting the hard disk activity light isn't even flashing with Windows freezing on some attempts while booting To attempt to see if this was a hardware issue I downloaded a copy of Linux Mint onto a DVD and booted from it as expected it booted extremely fast for a disk compared to Windows Being unable to fix the problem myself I have decided to finally request help from people whom would be more knowledgable in this area than me P To assist in finding the resolution of my problem I have included a copy of the bootlog I have disabled the drivers that do not load and have noticed no difference in the overall boot time Thanks for your help

A:20 minute boot time, even after reinstallation of Windows

Hi Plxply (first and only time I'll call you that),

This usually ain't a trivial exercise to diagnose.

Anything show up in Event Viewer or Reliability Monitor (see Administrative Tools in Control Panel).

I suggest you download Process Monitor, start it up, click on Options, Enable Boot Logging. Shut it down and reboot. When system is and running, start it up again, and it'll ask you if you want to save the file. You can then configure it to show the data you want to review (Options > Set columns), and set filters to weed it down to a manageable size. You'll particularly want to look at any entries that have Duration of more than a few seconds.

I have a windows xp networking problem. In our university campus we use TCP/IP protocol and static ip adresses to connect university network and internet. For 6-7 months, our computer (windows xp) can not connect to the network for 10 minutes after booting or rebooting the computer. After starting windows we have to wait 10 minutes to access network.

There is no problem in any other operating systems (Windows 2000, Windows 2003, Linux etc.) We have this problem only with Windows XP.

The computer is connected directly to a switch and a gateway device assigns ip to it. How can I resolve this problem?

A:Windows XP Waits 10 Minute to Connect Network

You may try this if you have windows XP Pro...
Goto START/RUN and type gpedit.msc. Now navigate to Computer Configuration/Administrative Templates/System/Logon. Look in the right pane and double click "Always wait for the network at computer startup and login". Change it's value to disabled and reboot. Hope this helps.

Just this afternoon, I went to use my PC and got the following error; Windows has experienced a critical error and will restart in 1 minute.

Running Windows 7 64 bit....With automatic updates so it should be the latest version of Windows...

My anti virus (Avira 2012 Internet Suite) pops up and states I have 2 viruses. But before the AV can do anything (delete the files) Windows shuts down....I finally got into Safe Mode and tried running my AV, while it was scanning I then got a BSOD. Had to start all over again; Running MalwareBytes now before trying to do the AV scan, just to see if MalwareBytes catches anything.

I have uninstalled the only application I've installed in 3 months, and problem still persists...

I have a Hijackthis log if it needs to be viewed...Just let me know and I'll upload it.

A:Windows has a critical error and will reboot in 1 minute

when you get the 1 minute warning, try typing from the start menu "shutdown -a" or "shutdown /a", and the countdown should go away, and you should be able to remove the viruses.

Be sure to disable your system restore backups (delete them), or the viruses may come back. Re-enable them as soon as you are sure you have gotten rid of the viruses.

Shortly after starting up Windows7 I get the message "Windows Encountered a Crirical Problem and Will Restart in 1 Minute..." and then the PC restarts in 1 minute. It does the same thing in safe mode. It happens every time I start it up and leaves no time to run anything to stop a malware process like rkill and restarts before tdsskiller can complete a scan.I doubt there is any real hardware problem because it started happening just after installing software from the internet that is supposed to backup DVDs to a harddrive. I was also experiencing browser redirect problems before. If I can't cure the problem I will have to try to save any data I need by booting it into an OS on a live CD like some version of linux and then do a reinstall of Windows7. I'm hoping it doesn't come to that so if anybody can help it would be great.

Hi,

My machine had a virus attack. I used the instructions for Anti-malaware bytes and tried to remove it. Now the machine shuts down as soon it is started. I get an error message saying, "windows has encountered a critical error and will close in one minute". That happens in all the different modes, safe, safe with networking, normal etc and happens with internet on or off.
I am not able to run any logs as recommended by you because I don't get enough time to run anything. The machine boots and just shuts down.

Please help. I have humongous amount of data, that I can't even access because of this issue.

Thanks

A:Windows Update 10-minute reminder. How to change through *registry*?

Lighten up! Big bold letters won't help you get a response from the volunteers here.

There are a couple of resources that you should learn how to use:
Process Monitor and a Group Policy Search website.

Run Process Monitor while you make the changes thru gpedit. You can see the registry changes being made. Then search the website linked to above for one of the registry Values that was created or changed when you hit "Apply" within gpedit.

So I'm running a repair install on this system and it keeps stopping at 1 minute left, removing temporary files. Ive let it sit for a few hours just to be sure and still nothing. Ive done some searching around and it seems that deleting the catroot2 folder can resolve the issue sometimes. Well I tried that and still nothing. Anyone have any ideas? anyone seen this before?

A:windows repair issue. Stops with 1 minute remaining

Try let it sitting over night and see what happens. If there are a lot of Temp files that could take a while

So ever since I upgraded to a GeForce GTX 460, I've been getting these ~1min long freezes every time my PC just finished loading Windows (either after a cold boot or reboot).

What could be causing this?

EDIT: This didn't happen to me with my old Radeon HD 5770.

Windows has encountered a critical error and will restart in one minute?
my computer says this each time it is started in normal start-up mode. I recently got the Doctor Malware virus and I downloaded the anti malware software to get rid of it but i cant update it or even find out if it did anything because now every time i try to start up in normal mode i get the message "windows has encountered a critical error and will restart in one minute" and it restarts.
also, i've already tried a system restore
also, unfortunately, i cant even run safe mode with networking. so no internet.
i tried a couple registry cleaner. it seemed to find and fix a lot stuff but then when i restarted the computer and it still shut down right away.

A:Windows has encountered a critical error and will restart in one minute?

Try getting to safe mode and do the following:
Just turn on your computer with F8 pressed.

Choose Safe Mode option.

Logon using your Administrator level user.

Next, click Start > All Programs > Accessories > Run...

Type MSCONFIG and click OK.

Go to the SERVICES tab and search for Gbp Service.

Uncheck it and click OK.

Restart and see if the problem is gone.

I've tried many different things such as disabling auto restart when theres a failure and disabling drives with caution symbols in device manager hidden drivers. I've also tried system repair and restore to previous date. The system repair found no corrupt files and the restore failed to work. Here is what I think you need to know:

In device manager:
-Caution symbol on "Security Processor Loader Driver" (code 24)
Driver File Details: C:\Windows\system32\drivers\spldr.sys
-Caution symbol on "Base System Device Properties" (code 28)
Location: PCI bus 8, device 1, function 3
-Caution symbol on "Base System Device Properties" (again) (code 28)
Location: PCI bus 8, device 1, function 2

In event viewer:
Error Code: 0x80004005
Error Code: 0x8007042c
Event 7000 "rimsptsk"
Event 7026 "avgldx64"

Please help I've been at this for days ha. Would love to have my computer back and remember I can ONLY run it in safe mode. Not even safe mode with networking.

Hello mikeyh90,

It seems as if you have some drivers missing, can you please provide the Make/model of your system or, if custom or any changes made, a full specification of the system, thank you. This is so we can find out what drivers you need.

Are you the only user of this system? If not, is your user an administrator?

When was the last time you run a scan using an anti-virus and/or an anti-malware program?

On Windows 8.1 pro, my computer would instantly connect to the wifi network from sleep.

However, when I upgraded to windows 10 pro, the computer takes about 1 minute to reconnect to the network (which is very annoying).

I have turned off the "allow the computer to turn of this device to save power" option for my network adapter, but this does not change anything.

Does any body know how to fix this (or just prevent the computer from disconnecting from the network entirely during sleep as this is a desktop and I don't care about power management)

Thanks heaps in advanced!

Windows 10 Version of the network driver is not working completely; 1: wait for new driver to be published, 2: try installing Win8 or 8.1 version of driver, 3: don't use sleep/hibernate, it has always been buggy

As the title says, my PC will go from Windows Aero to Windows Basic 1 minute after being switched on. I have tried to turn aero back on from settings, but the option for peek is greyed out and the option for aero isn't in the performance tab. DWM is running and restarting it doesn't fix anything. I can't play any games as this issue also makes games stutter to the point of it being unplayable. Uninstalling and reinstalling the graphics drivers also didn't fix it.

Basically, Windows boots up, everything loads that needs to load, then the screen flickers and it switches to Basic.

Hi. I have recently had a few problems with my laptop which is only a couple of months old. A few days ago I received numerous warnings about Trojan threats through Windows Defender. My AVG scanner is not working (looking into this) so I am not yet certain if there is a real threat on my computer.

Anyway, starting yesterday and continuing today, when starting my laptop, I receive an error message saying that there has been a 'critical error' and that the laptop will restart in 1 minute. This morning, I received this message 4 times in a row and only on my 5th restart did I not get the message.

I have no idea whether this error is linked to Trojan threats or anything else but it is very worrying for me, seeing as my laptop is new.

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Its horrible malicious software that installs itself onto your computer. I have been battling for days now and came here for answers. I say the best thing you can do is just leave it turned off untill you get help from all these nice folks. Getting on and fiddling will proably make it worse since this program is always shifting if you don't get it all the way.

Its horrible, but sit back these folks can fix it. Atleast its not getting any worse turned off.

You had the Radeon card before and everything was fine, right? I don't see the card itself as the issue if that's the case.

When EXACTLY does the screen go black and fans run towards 100%?

Is there anything you installed or modified software-wise or hardware-wise before you shut down yesterday?

Do you own a dog that perhaps could've urinated on your computer?

A few days ago, some applications have begun to freeze right after startup. They don't respond for several minutes and then suddenly work completely normal. I've noticed this behavior in XBMC, Windows Media Player and an application that I've programmed myself (using Python and PyQt, not related to media playing).

The problem seems to be related to the file system somehow, as the freeze returns when I open a "Save as..." dialog in my application. However, other programs work fine, including "Save as..." dialogs. The event log does not show errors or warnings.

Welcome to the BleepingComputer Forums. Since it has been a few days since you scanned your computer with HijackThis, we will need a new HijackThis log. If you have not already downloaded Random's System Information Tool (RSIT), please download Random's System Information Tool (RSIT) by random/random which includes a HijackThis log and save it to your desktop. If you have RSIT already on your computer, please run it again. Double click on RSIT.exe to run RSIT. Click Continue at the disclaimer screen. Please post the contents of log.txt. Thank you for your patience. Please see Preparation Guide for use before posting about your potential Malware problem. If you have already posted this log at another forum or if you decide to seek help at another forum, please let us know. There is a shortage of helpers and taking the time of two volunteer helpers means that someone else may not be helped. Please post your HijackThis log as a reply to this thread and not as an attachment. I am always leery of opening attachments so I always request that HijackThis logs are to be posted as a reply to the thread. I do not think that you are attaching anything scary but others may do so. While we are working on your HijackThis log, please: Reply to this thread; do not start another! Do not make any changes on your computer during the cleaning process or download/add programs on your computer unless instructed to do so. Do not run any other tool until instructed to do so! Let me know if any of the links do not work or if any of the tools do not work. Tell me about problems or symptoms that occur during the fix. Do not run any other programs or open any other windows while doing a fix. Ask any questions that you have regarding the fix(es), the infection(s), the performance of your computer, etc.Thanks.

Hey there I recently came from another forum and posted on their site about this problem It was a Malware forum We went through all the basics and even some of the non-basics basically we found nothing and I guess proved it wasn t Malware Basically he told me a 10 up, sound start and XP, Slow ish jerks minute Windows video lot of stuff I should do I did most of them that I could Windows XP, Slow 10 minute ish start up, sound and video jerks and then he closed the thread To be more specific the computer takes forever to turn on and load I get to the XP loading bar and have to wait minutes ish sometimes longer for it to load up the for the rest of the computer to load Once it s loaded the internet works fine and fast as normal It s just that all of my music skips and it s not just an every five second skip Sometimes it s not bearable to listen to and I m listening to it through external speakers however the internal speakers do the same thing I recently installed a new hard drive but I don t know if that would have anything to do with it I ve had a lot of issues with this computer and to be honest I m about done with it Please try to help anyway possible Thanks Ty

Hey guys. I recently reformatted the hard drive on my laptop and installed a fresh copy of windows home edition. Normally i'd do professional edition, but my boot disc was scratched and errors whenever I use it now.

Anyhow since I installed the home edition it takes about 10 minutes to start up. There is a black screen with a bar that goes across the bottom that takes all this time up. I read a few forums online, and people were saying it could be too many things on start up, or usb devices, but the only devices I have on the laptop are a wireless pci card, and a usb mouse. I've tried taking both devices out on startup and have the same issue. Also I can't see it being startup programs as I just reformatted computer, and have very, very few programs on the laptop.

I'm currently experiencing this with my new computer too before it completely corrupts the operating system.

You can try Memtest86+, it will test your memory which I think could of received some bad ram myself.

Let me know if you get it working man. Thanks.

Greetings And Welcome To The Forums!!My name is Gringo and I'll be glad to help you with your malware problems.I have put together somethings for you to keep in mind while I am helping you to make things go easier and faster for both of usPlease do not run any tools unless instructed to do so.
Please remember to copy the entire post so you do not miss any instructions.download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool x64 and save it to a flash drive.Plug the flash-drive into the infected PC.Enter System Recovery Options. I had a similar problem a while ago....you may have tried cleaning with AVG/ADAWARE/SPYBOT, it worked for me.

Go Start run then type shutdown -a when the 1 min warning comes, try looking in the event logs to see what is going on, the other place i have come accross this is when windows has expired/Hacked etc

I have a problem with a Windows 8.1 Machine 64 bit OS. The computer goes to sleep after 1 minute, and goes to a lock screen which requires a password upon Wake. I have changed ALL the settings NOT to allow this, and it still happens. I have made the PC
Settings optios as well as the Power Options. I recently attached a new monitor to the PC so I have dual monitors now. But no software has been downloaded and as far as I can tell, no settings have been changed. All this started when I put the new monitor
in. I tried to disconnect it thinking it would disable the lock screen, but it still happens. Please Help!

Wow, Thank you so much for your help! This fixed my issue! I remember selecting the Screen Saver Option within the Personalize Menu, but don't remember
that option being defaulted. Thanks again for your awesome support!

I have a Dell inspiron 1525 and I get the "Windows has encountered a critical problem............" message and then the computer reboots. No time to run anything. The computer even reboots when at the login screen.
I have tried the F8 and get to "Repair Computer" and I get the "other user" screen. I click on this and then type in username and password and get the message "The specified domain does not exist or could not be contacted"
I cannot get past ths point to perform scans, etc.
This also happens in safe mode.

I have windows vista premium home edition

A:Windows XP freezes at: "Windows is starting up..." screen for a minute and a half

I strongly advise you to stay away from registry clean/optimize/boost/tuneup type programs. They do little to nothing to improve speed and performance. What they can do is break programs and damage the operating system.

----------------------------------------------------

You shouldn't uncheck service entries in the System Configuration Utility "Services" tab. They should all remain checked.

If you want to change the "startup type" to any of them to Automatic or Manual or Disabled, you should do it in Start - Run - SERVICES.MSC - OK.

NVIDIA Display Driver Service can be set on Manual.

----------------------------------------------------

In the System Configuration Utility "Startup" tab, these entries can be unchecked.

NvCpl
nwiz
NvMcTray
RTHDCPL

Set the above service entry to Manual first before you uncheck these startup entries. After you're done, restart the computer.

Hello I just finished building my Computer hangs one at Windows" minute. for over screen "Starting computer the other day and installed Windows Ultimate bit edition The install went great and the computer is amazingly fast but I am less than impressed with the boot time I have windows installed on Computer hangs at "Starting Windows" screen for over one minute. two Corsair Force GT GB Solid State Drives in RAID configuration The motherboard is a GIGABYTE G Sniper and the processor is an i X As I said I am very impressed with the performance once the computer is on but it takes ages to get there I had some trouble with it stalling at the quot Verifying DMI Pool Data quot for about seconds each boot That seems to have been fixed when I cleared the board and reconfigured BIOS The problem I am having now is Computer hangs at "Starting Windows" screen for over one minute. that when Windows begins to load it says quot Starting Windows quot right before the logo flies in It will sit at that screen for over a minute before it starts to animate It only takes about seconds to load after the animation starts No problems after that I can't figure out what's causing this It does change depending on the BIOS settings It did not always do this I have been messing with them so much to try to isolate what's causing it but I cannot Any ideas Thanks

I recently have been getting the Error message Windows has encountered a critical error and will close in one minute.
I do not have the Brazilian financial Active X control that became corrupted, or if I do, I cannot find it. I have Vista 32-bit on an Acer Aspire laptop. This message comes up after I login and I can either access the Internet via Safe mode w/Networking, or do a System Restore, at which time the laptop works for about two or three times and then the error message comes back.
Do I have a bug? Please help!!!!

A:Error Message 0x80070005 critical error - windows will close in one minute

I followed the preparation guide and when I tried to run dds.scr, the black screen came up really fast and then disappeared and nothing ever came up. When I tried to run RootRepeal.exe, I was able to tell it to scan, but then I never received a report. When I tried to run it again, it said that I didn't have permission, and when I tried to delete it, it said the same thing! I am the administrator...I have Vista 32bit and I am getting the error code 0x80070005 windows has encountered a critical error and will now close. I run system restore to get it to stop, but that only works a few times, and then I get the error message again.
What do I do now??

I have just installed and have two problems a two-minute timeout while the quot Starting Windows quot screen is displayed while booting and CD DVD drive does not show up in Device Manager System configuration in tech specs below I saw the same problem on both RC and While timeout, "Starting CD Windows" found - minute 2 not booting the system stalls at quot Starting Windows quot for minutes This error message is in the event log Code Log Name System Source iaStorV Date AM Event ID Task Category None Level Error Keywords Classic User N A Computer Orca Description The device Device Ide iaStor did not respond within the timeout period Event Xml lt Event xmlns quot http schemas microsoft com win events event quot gt lt System gt lt Provider Name quot iaStorV quot gt lt EventID Qualifiers quot quot gt lt EventID gt lt Level gt lt Level gt lt Task gt lt Task gt lt Keywords gt x lt Keywords gt lt TimeCreated SystemTime quot - - T Z quot gt lt EventRecordID gt lt EventRecordID gt lt Channel gt System lt Channel gt lt Computer gt Orca lt Computer gt lt Security gt lt System gt lt EventData gt lt Data gt Device Ide iaStor lt Data gt lt Binary gt F C lt Binary gt lt EventData gt lt Event gt I have updated the firmware on the DVD drive and motherboard to the most recently available versions Flashing the mobo eliminated another event log message about a quot known firmware error quot related to power management At one time I was finding five of these messages--for a ten minute delay eveyr time I booted as each message follows a -minute timeout I changed the BIOS configuration for the IDE devices from quot not installed "Starting Windows" - 2 minute timeout, CD not found quot to quot Auto quot and Windows seemed to like that better even though there are no devices attached to the IDE port Note that there are no IDE devices in this system This error message says that the Device Ide iaStor is not responding If the quot Ide quot part of the message is to be believed what is Windows trying to access The ICH R is set to RAID as two of the ports are used for a RAID array The JMicron JMB which the DVD drive is connected to is set to Basic I also tried AHCI with no change in results There are two hard drives attached to the TX but those drives are powered off A possibly related matter is that Windows refuses to see my DVD drive a SATA Samsung drive Device Manager does not show any cd or dvd devices In build I used to see an event log entry saying that the cdrom device could not be found I don't see that message in or at least haven't found it yet Thanks for any advice

Are all your drives being detected by your BIOS? Temporarily disconnect your optical drive, check with the BIOS to make sure, and see if that makes any difference to your bootup.

I dont know the proper word usage for this problem but when I am browsing the web, going through docs on my computer or anything that requires a window to use every minute it keeps "disconnecting" as in it would not be the main window im using and I have to click on the window so I can scroll or click on that window. I don't know how to keep it from doing this every minute. I hope this makes sense. It happening even as I type this. Im in the middle of typing this and its no longer an active window and I have to click on it so I can continue typing. Anyone know how to fix this problem. Im using a Sony Vaio laptop.

Something is stealing the focus. Try using Clean Boot to see if you can determine what is doing this.
