Preferred Solution: BSOD playing Starcraft II, error 0x00000116 into BlackScreen on boot.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Here is the information needed with 1 dmp file. I was playing the game Natural Selection 2 when this happend.

The system is a fresh install with Windows 7 64bit Professional. Temperatures are pretty good everything is around 60degree while gaming and nothing is overclocked. Memtest did not found any problem with my memory sticks ran them over 20 passes / each stick. Tested OCCT for 5 hours straight and no crashes. Ive tried with a different graphic card which I know works but I still get bluescreens while playing games. Help please!

Ive done all steps at STOP 0x116: VIDEO_TDR_ERROR troubleshooting still no luck. Ive tried different nvidia drivers but all of them gives me the same error.

I was going to test driver verififer but all drivers there was from microsoft so it cant be driver related.

Reinstall NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680:

Code:
Timestamp: Sat Dec 01 03:24:02 2012 (50B97852)
Download Latest Driver > Uninstall Current Driver > Reboot > Run Driver Sweeper > Reboot > Reinstall Driver

Code:
Usual causes: Video driver, overheating, bad video card, BIOS, Power to card
Driver Sweeper will scan for any left over files from the old driver, old driver files can cause conflicts with new driver installations. Create a System Restore point beforehand, in case any problems or issues arise.

Driver Sweeper:Drivers - Clean Left over Files after Uninstalling
Driver Download Page:NVIDIA Driver Downloads - Advanced Search

Follow these steps:STOP 0x116: VIDEO_TDR_ERROR troubleshooting
Overclocking -
I recommend if you are overclocking any hardware, that you reset these values within the BIOS to their default values in order to increase the stability of your system.

Please run the following tests for your graphics card and RAM:
RAM - Test with Memtest86+
Run Memtest86+ for least 7-8 passes, and preferrly overnight as it can take a while to fully complete.

Test each RAM stick individually, if an error is found then move the same RAM stick into the next DIMM slot and test again, if errors are found for the same RAM stick in every available slot then you have a faulty RAM module. On the other hand, if no errors are found in the next slot or the other slots for the same RAM module, then you have a faulty DIMM slot.

Test each RAM stick and every motherboard DIMM slot available.

Graphics Card:Video Card - Stress Test with Furmark
Read all the steps within the hardware test tutorials very carefully, as stress tests is designed run components to their maximum capacity, in order to point out failing or faulty hardware components.

Use the following program to monitor your hardware temperatures during the stress test:CPUID HWMonitor
Hard Drive:Disk Check
CrystalDiskInfo - Software - Crystal Dew World
SeaTools for Windows | Seagate
Scan for corrupted or missing Windows files with:SFC /SCANNOW : Run in Command Prompt at Boot
Check for any driver compatibility issues with:Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor - Download - Microsoft Windows
If you are using DirectX, then try uninstalling and then reinstalling the DirectX Runtime:How to download and install DirectX

Hello everyone,

I have recently encountered my first BSOD while playing Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 online multiplayer. I have been using this computer for more than 2 years and have not encountered any BSOD before. The only "significant" change I made was updating my video card and AMD Catalyst driver to 15.7 (can't remember the previous driver version).

All my PC specs are available in my profile.

As per your forum posting instructions, kindly find the attached file created by DM Log Collector.

Thank you.

While playing games (NBA 2k13, Minecraft, FIFA 13) I get a BSOD around 10 minutes in. My screen goes black and I have to reboot my PC. When I check what the cause is, the name "dxgkrnl.sys" comes up.

I think I fixed it. I've been playing Minecraft for 2 hours now and no Blue Screen yet. All I did was downgrade my graphics card.

Hello, I'm having troubles with my laptop. I have a GT70-0nd gaming laptop from MSI. About a year ago the laptop started blue screening during any intensive task, and even some not as intensive. It would blue screen while watching twitch.tv streams as well as playing any game (I play mostly league of legends, counter strike, and h1z1.)
Just recently I reformatted my computer in hopes that it could fix the problem, which has not solved anything. I'm sure some of the drivers are out of date but I am not sure as to which ones or where to get the correct drivers for the laptop.

Thank you for your help.

A:BSOD while playing any game, error 0x00000116

Have you faced any further issue to the other computer? If not, you may mark that as solved now.

Now, stop 0x116 is a display related issue, and as it is occurring irrespective of the display driver installed, we should pay attention to the hardware environment.

Uninstall the installed display driver using Display Driver Uninstaller. Then install the 350.12 WHQL back. When done, Stress test the Graphics Card (not the Intel HD Graphics) using Furmark. Video Card - Stress Test with Furmark
Take a screenshot of the furmark window before closing it. Upload the screenshot for us. Also let us know if you have experienced any crash/BSOD and/or artifacts during the test.

If it is overclocked, revert the hardware back to default settings.

Is the computer hot? Report us the heat of the computer after a couple of hours of your normal usage. Upload a screenshot of the summery tab of Speccy.

Let us know the results.

So i looked in the forum i didnt find any satisfying answer so i need some help if somebody can help

Below i have files collected by Dm log collector and also a picture from the bsod error that might help

Also i this error occurs only when i run spore (an old game)
This never happened when i runned heavier games like for example :
Planetside 2
Shadow of mordor
Dying Light and so on
As a matter of fact i never even had issues with these games or any other before.
The error in spore doesn't have a specific pattern it happens at times some times its hours in the game some times it can be right on the start and some other times minutes you can never tell what is wrong but the error is always the same

Hello and welcome to Sevenforums!

The problem is caused by your graphics driver. Run Display Driver Uninstaller(DDU)
Make sure you tick the Uninstall C:/AMD and C:/NIVIDA folders while you are in DDU when you are done running DDU install your graphics driver again and you should be good to go! This is the guide for DDU: Drivers - Clean Left over Files after Uninstalling

Hello Before I start I dont want you to think im insulting you by not reading around first Im reading up on your x troubleshooting thread in the sub forum and im going to start working my way through it I've just been having some odd problems that have started cropping up since these BSODs did These problems started occurring recently within the last week playing Star Wars The Old Republic I haven't changed any computer settings since I built the thing last October and it has been running a treat until now The crashes themselves are strange I do not get a blue screen the display simply fades to black playing error 0x00000116 SWTOR, BSOD while music continues to play in the BSOD playing SWTOR, error 0x00000116 background It then either attempts to reboot or freezes the music turns to bzzzzt At first I thought nothing of it but the frequency increased BSOD playing SWTOR, error 0x00000116 so I started looking around and saw there was a thread on the games forums about similar problems and talking about a directx corruption I saw through WhoCrashed that one of my X was related to dx Another odd observation is that performing a repair through the games repair tool seems to solve the problem for a day or Anyway since then I stopped using the game for fear of damaging the card but I think the damage may already have been done Sometimes on booting the system the VGA Warning LED on the motherboard comes on and I get a BIOS beep code which according to the manual means there is no VGA detected If I turn the computer off from the mains and then reboot sometime later there is no such issue though the card appears to be under high load when starting now Currently idling and browsing like this I do not crash I know I should test with another game benchtests but with the card appearing to become increasingly unstable and failing its POST think its called that sometimes I'm a little worried to push it As for temps I play with a monitor open and in windowed mode so I can keep an eye on things and the crash has happened at near idle temps of degrees and the max I can achieve with that game of degrees Overclocking wise everything is as it arrived out the box The matrix is factory overclocked to some level I believe and I think theres some BIOS setting that auto overclocks the CPU based on demand but ill go make sure these are off Windows Is - x - Reinstalled once since initial after a secureerase - OEM - Hardware is Less than months - Current OS installation is months old Thanks very much for your time G

Hello! I have just started playing diablo 3 again on a new computer i just built myself (about two months ago) and the past couple days during long play sessions i have been getting a computer crash, in which the computer fans all get SUPER loud and the computer shuts off and restarts, i checked in on whats happening and found out it was a bluescreen, error 0x00000116, Caused by Driver:dxgkrnl.sys. the temps are all fine, my case has ALOT of cooling. This has only happened when playing diablo 3. I can play World Of Warcraft, League Of Legends, and every other game without it crashing. Any help would be much appreciated!

The problem seems to be occuring more often now. and several times when it rebooted onto desktop it crashed again with a blue screen error.

EDIT: i did a clean reformat of windows 7, and i have already got 3 blue screen errors. I have no idea what the cause could be. I ran FurMark, and i ran prime95 for about 8 hours earlier today (before reformat) and no crash, but now they are happening often and randomly.

Since this thread is hanging on both the BDoS relevance and hardware software graphics cards sections I have been trying to decide where I should post it I've eventually decided to post it in the BDoS section If users or staff should find this topic inappropriate in this location I'd have it corrected immediately I have been getting blue screens related to my video card for quite a while now both when playing a game or simply BSOD 0x00000116 or games error playing otherwise, sitting idle There are certain things that trigger a bluescreen or a driver failure i e opening MP files starting BSOD playing games or otherwise, error 0x00000116 applications that use DX or OpenGL such as games ect My graphics card is an AMD Radeon HD with MB GDDR memory By default my core clock is running a maximum of MHz and my memory clock is running a maximum MHz I've experienced more system stability and have actually been able to run The Elder Scrolls V Skyrim smoothly by declocking both clocks down by a MHz MHz Mhz for multiple hours but am still experiencing issues and occasional blue screens from session to session some sessions seem more stable than others The power supply to the processor is set by default to a minimum of MHz and a maximum of MHz My graphics card drivers are run by Catalyst Control Center of which the driver packet version is registered as - a- C-ATI My Direct D versions is and my OpenGL version is So far digging across various forums and websites I have discovered that a large group of people using the MSI AMD ATI Radeon HD xxx and xxx series in their systems have been experiencing major driver malfunction following the last updates Despite the seemingly large group of people having a similar or set of problems I'm having difficulty finding specific issues relating to the AMD Radeon HD though most Radeon cards share the same drivers or driver packets So far I've done tried the following things I've ruled out that it is a hardware issue as running the card on another computer has yielded no problems whatsoever I've also tried running a different graphics card in my system and the same problems persisted I've also ruled out heating being a possible cause as the graphics card remains within normal heat parameters even while running demanding applications I've completely cleaned out the heatsink and applied new thermal paste I've been running my current system configuration for quite a while so I wouldn't consider bad system alchemy to be the cause I've also been unable to find any conflicts All my system memory cards have yielded no anomaly's Completely reinstalled Windows on a new seagate harddrive and the same issues persisted running the same drivers there are no alternative drivers I've tested and ran a variation of under overclock profiles and settings some variations providing more stability than others but the problems still persisted Though given less frequently with certain settings I've also done a clean install of the driver's software I rolled back as far as v series but that seemed to have cause more stability issues I've been unable to determine if voltage fluctuations or sensor anomaly's have a possible roll on the problem I'm hoping this thread will yield new insight for me and others that could have the same issue or further assistance from people with more knowledge and or experience on the matter I've attached a picture of the actual bluescreen though it is of poor quality I've also included the requested information in the zip folder

Hi LemonPower.

Are you overclocking? As you are getting BSODs, you should stop overclocking and run all the hardware components like CPU, GPU and RAM to their default settings.

Is the computer hot? Report us the heat of the computer after a couple of hours of your normal usage. Upload a screenshot of the summery tab of Speccy. Alternatively, you can publish a Speccy snapshot too: Speccy - Publish Snapshot of your System Specs .

Stress test the Graphics Card using Furmark.
Video Card - Stress Test with Furmark

Let us know the results.

Hi,

I had the BSOD 0x116 a few months ago, but I was able to fix it by updating old drivers. It appeared again today, but after I had a bunch of 0x9F errors. I am unsure as to what/where my problem is. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Hello and welcome Yoshi mate there areseveral refs to a Graphics Driver issue now I would suggest at least update thegraphics driver and see what happens this is the GeForce driver and you could even try the auto detect button down beneath that ref just to see which of the graphics you are using

Recently started playing Mass Effect 2 it was working fine for the first 30 mins. But when he wakes up and picks up his weapon the screen turns off and its becomes unresponsive and the speakers produce a high pitched sound and sometimes the GPU fan sound like it going at 100%.

This also happens when I play GTA 4 and sometimes it happens when playing Skyrim.

A:BSOD playing games, error 0x00000116

Hi.

If this only happens when playing Mass Effect 2 then this may be a game bug.

Though is always good idea to check your hardware.

Download and install the Driver Sweeper.

Download the most recent software\driver for your NVIDIA .

Uninstall nvidia software\driver,restart in safe mode, run driver sweeper, choose only NVIDIA-Display and clean, restart in normal mode.

Install the new nvidia software\driver,restart.

Update DirectX .
Run the nvidia-video-card-test post here the results.

Run RAM - Test with Memtest86+
Let it run until at least 9 passes are completed, or errors are found (whichever comes first). The longer you run it, the better.

Yeah it's been doing it every once in a while, usually after a few hours of continuous playing , games it's done it on so far are; Witcher 2 and GTAV. I have a feeling it's either the GPU itself or the beta driver I'm using, but I want to be sure first.

thanks in advance for the help.

Hi folks As of recently I keep getting BSODs BSOD error Neverwinter, playing 0x00000116 - B as BSOD playing Neverwinter, error 0x00000116 in quot Black quot not blue mind you - playing Neverwinter The online version developed by Cryptic Studios The screen randomly turns black all of a sudden and the sound freezes a few seconds afterwards leaving me with no option but to hard reset my computer I googled the error quot x quot but any suggested steps I found couldn't solve the problem for me Here's a list of what I already tried I just came back from a week vacation so this is just what I recall off the top of my head Anyways here's what I tried so far - MemTest for several hours - no errors occured - Installed newest as well as legacy graphic drivers with and w o DDU with and w o nVidia Experience - no success - SSD Tweaks I got this computer from a friend a while ago and put in an SSD cause they're so awesome So after a few weeks of using the computer some crashes occured that I could fix with SSD tweaks I don't remember the details but I could search my browser history and provide more info if needed Some more notes - This so far only happened while playing this particular game and ONCE while randomly browsing the interwebz I'm not sure if that particular occasion was the same error though Didn't bother to have a look at the event log back then I play this game on the lowest settings possible in order to have a constant very high framerate The GPU and CPU load should be pretty low since it also runs smoothly on highest settings Also the fan noise level is quite low when I run the game on lowest settings which sort of underlines my point - Sometimes I can play hours over hours without a crash sometimes I keep getting crashes a few minutes in I can't really see a pattern there - I played the Metro games for several hours straight without any crashes whatsoever On very high settings Boy my machine got loud then But addmitedly that was quite a few weeks back and at a time where I didn't play NW and before I had these issues I'll try to run it for a few hours and see if I get the same BSOD - Same with Borderlands That's all that I can think of for now If you need more information that is neither provided in this post nor the attached zip file please let me know Thanks in advance I hope one of you guys has a solution at hand This is getting really frustrating Dave

It happens. FF games cause BSODs on their own. But before saying that, we need to check the situation in detail, and for the purpose the data you uploaded is not enough.

Click on button below ....

It will download the DM log collector. Right click on the application and run as administrator. It will generate a .zip file on your desktop. Upload the .zip.

I have been having random BSOD for a very long time, it seems to mostly happen when playing Starcraft 2, although it does occasionally happen doing other things as well. I have tried updating all my drivers, doing a memtest and all that stuff but nothing has helped. The crash address is mostly ntoskrn.exe+7cc80 in Blue Screen View but every thing else seems to vary.

A:BSOD playing Starcraft 2, error 0x00000034

These were all related to a memory exception but before we can address this you need to fix this;

You have a driver from 2005 that is a HUGE cause of BSOD's in win 7 called RTCORE64.SYS, it is the msi afterburner driver (used in overclocking). It needs at least to be updated and if it cant it needs to be removed. I would update to the newest. Yours is from 2005

How To Find Drivers:

Quote:
- search Google for the name of the driver
- compare the Google results with what's installed on your system to figure out which device/program it belongs to
- visit the web site of the manufacturer of the hardware/program to get the latest drivers (DON'T use Windows Update or the Update driver function of Device Manager).
- if there are difficulties in locating them, post back with questions and someone will try and help you locate the appropriate program.

- - The most common drivers are listed on this page: Driver Reference Driver Reference

Greetings,
recenlty i upgraded my pc,i changed everything but the graphic cart.So far so good.I did format and installed win 7 x32 bit first. All worked fine till i started playing games. Then while in games i would get bsod, tried 2-3 games all with the same result. So i started stress testing my hardware.furmark,occt,prime95,hds, all was good.I did format again and installed win 7 x64 now,the problem stayed.Third format i installed win 8,1 not on the ssd on the hdd just to test the problem remains. But now a window pops up that says "display driver stopped responding and has recovered" mostly,it even appeared while i was just browsing.Today after 3 days using win 8,1 i got my first bsod.

P.S i have tried numerous drivers, and various other fixes i saw on the internet no luck.

So here is my SF Diagnostic Tool file

This bugcheck is particularly caused by the ATI Drivers.

Please run the Display Driver Uninstaller using this **LINK** and then completely uninstall your ATI Drivers. Once it is done, please reboot the system.
After the restart, install the Drivers which came when you purchased the GPU which comes generally in a Driver CD. See if this resolves the problem or not.

Also, your BIOS is dated 2010, I would suggest you to check the manufacturer for any updates. Please do not update the BIOS as of now, let me know if there is any update or not.

Also, have you tried running the system after removing the Graphics Card physically from the system?

Let me know how it goes ^_^

Hello and welcome to Sevenforums!

The problem is caused by your graphics driver. Run Display Driver Uninstaller(DDU)
When you are done running DDU install your graphics driver again and you should be good to go! This is the guide for DDU: Drivers - Clean Left over Files after Uninstalling

Also if you can get your computer BSOD-free we can maybe play together sometime.

BOSD keep pop up after i start up any games for few minutes. I have tried to use DDU to re-install my graphics driver. However, it didnt work. The problem keep goes on.

I dont know how to fix my computer. Is my display card is broken or driver problems?

My laptop model is K43SA which is using ATI RADEON HD6730M 2GB Display Card.

Is the computer hot? Report us the heat of the computer after a couple of hours of your normal usage. Upload a screenshot of the summery tab of Speccy. Alternatively, you can publish a Speccy snapshot too: Speccy - Publish Snapshot of your System Specs .

Uninstall the installed display driver using DDU. Then install the CCC 14.4 WHQL only.

When done, stress test the Graphics Card using Furmark. Video Card - Stress Test with Furmark
Take a screenshot of the furmark window before closing it. Upload the screenshot for us. Also let us know if you have experienced any crash/BSOD and/or artifacts during the test.

Also let us know for any further BSOD after doing it.

Hello, PuBEvo and welcome to the forums. I will try to help you with this. First I would like you to fill out your system specs in the proper place so they will be there for us on any post. This is how.
Please fill out your System Specs

   Information
Your System Specs will help us to help you, and doing it in this manner will make them available to all helpers in every post and keep us from hunting for them. We ask that you fill them out in as much detail as possible including Desktop or Laptop, Model number if it is an OEM computer and all components with the Manufacturer and Model number if possible.

If you will go to your last post and click the 'System Specs' in the bottom left of the post, you will find a link to update your system specs. Please fill those out in as much detail as possible, making sure to click save at the bottom of the page. If you would like to know what we would like, you can click 'My System Specs' at the bottom left of this post to see mine. If you do not know what your components are, this will help you accomplish this task. System Info - See Your System Specs
I have looked at your dump files and they are all the same.

Code:
VIDEO_TDR_FAILURE (116)
Attempt to reset the display driver and recover from timeout failed.
Arguments:
Arg1: fffffa800f080010, Optional pointer to internal TDR recovery context (TDR_RECOVERY_CONTEXT).
Arg2: fffff88004414b78, The pointer into responsible device driver module (e.g. owner tag).

Arg3: 0000000000000000, Optional error code (NTSTATUS) of the last failed operation.
Arg4: 0000000000000002, Optional internal context dependent data.

That is your video driver and TDR (Time Delay and Response) basically means your driver crashed and did not recover in time. It can also mean that if you have switchable graphics, the switch does not occur in time.

I think you can see it is past due to be updated. Please Update the driver From the HP website for your Laptop, but try it this way

I am going to give you some links that will help you get a good clean install and not have any drivers you don't need that will conflict with other drivers. Download a WHQL driver from the HP Web Site . Once you have them downloaded, uninstall you current driver from control panel. next clean up any left over drivers from following this tutorial Drivers - Clean Left over Files after Uninstalling and select only ATI Display Drivers. After you have done that and rebooted, install the new driver, only select custom install and install only what you have to. Very few people need most of what they include. You do not need the audio/HDMI drivers as you already have that in your Motherboard drivers. Unless there is some reason you need them, the only thing you really need is the Display Driver.

I am not totally sure exactly what you are doing, but I would keep constant check on your GPU temps and CPU temps. You should also ask yourself if you are not expecting too much from your graphics card.

Built my PC a little under a year ago, and it was working fine with all games until GTA V was released. Ever since I downloaded the driver that was released at the same time as GTA, I've been experiencing crashes whenever I play games (even games that used to run without issue on high settings such as CS:GO can now cause crashes on the lowest setting) where my screen goes black and the last bit of audio that played repeats rapidly and loudly for a few seconds before stopping, at which point all I can do is manually restart my system.

I can't upload the Rar file with my dump info in it as it's too big for the site by 0.04 Mb, if anyone can advise me on files that are safe to remove from it to lower it's size I can upload it

I don't really know what the problem is, I just bought my laptop 2-3 weeks ago. If anybody can reach out, it would be thoroughly appreciated.

Edit : Oh, and yes, my graphic driver is outdated as I received feedback that the new version wasn't all that good and compatible with GW2. Shall I try a more previous version than the latest? Thought I really don't know how.

A:BSOD playing Guild Wars 2, error 0x00000116

Before I downloaded GW2, I used to play lots of Steam MMO's for hours on end especially on weekends, namely TF2 and C9. They crashed or "hung" / froze, but never BSOD's, and only rarely did the freezes happen. But when I first played GW2, my first try crashed because I missed a few files that still needed to be downloaded. And if I remember correctly, my 2nd playtime on GW2 was fine, though I think my 3rd or 4th was when the BSOD's started happening quite frequently. Soon it affected my other games I don't know why, TF2 started crashing on the STARTUP! Never did this happen before! And it also affected League of Legends, a graphically weak game you can check it, to cause freezes but fortunately the game would resume after about 3 seconds of freezing. But still! LoL freezing?

I'll also try to uninstall McAfee though I still haven't gotten around to install NOD32.

I'm getting blue screens when playing games on steam. The games I've noticed it on are:
Skyrim
Loadout
Sleeping Dogs
DmC Devil May Cry
Shadow Warrior

According to BlueScreenView the cause for the last few crashes is dxgkrnl.sys, and has previously been atikmpag.sys. As far as I know the drivers for my graphics card and motherboard are up to date, and I'm excluding my Steam folder from F-Secure's real-time scanner.

Thanks for any help!

A:BSOD playing DOTA 2, BBCode: d1, error 0x00000116

Let's clear a few things up, you have experienced a 0x116 (always a GPU problem) and a 0xD1 (usually a driver) yes? Neither are showing in your logs. What is showing in your logs is a 0x101 which isn't giving away too much info. So, at a guess going on the STOP codes, update your nVidia driver to the latest version by downloading the latest version from here and follow NVIDIA Drivers - Avoid Problems for the cleanest possible install.

Please monitor your CPU and GPU temperatures and report them back.

   Warning
Please do not use CCleaner while you're experiencing BSODs. It will wipe the dump files from your machine.

I keep getting the BSOD error when playing flash games online. I play other games, disk, steam etc. and it seems fine, and Its never happened when not using flash, e.g on the desktop. Im attaching a minidump file so you can have a look at it. Please help. I cant really confirm the flash only part, but it happens fairly soon after I start playing, and it has not happened on any non flash programmes. Hello, I hope this post is in the correct format and allow me to thank you in advance for any help you can provide.

I have been getting BSOD when playing StarCraft 2. I reinstalled the OS and the PC ran completely fine for around 3 - 4 hours. Then I reinstalled SC2, downloaded the patch and played 1 game before receiving BSOD.

Attached you will find the dump files.

System:
Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit, SP1
pny xlr8 nvidia geforce gtx 550 ti
6.0gb RAM
AMD Athlon II x4 645 processor 3.10Ghz

A:BSOD When Playing StarCraft 2, error 0x00000050 & 0x0000001e

BTW, I am not overclocking anything. The only setting I altered with EVGA Precision was the fan speed. I turned it up to increase cooling.

In an attempt to find the problem I stress tested my PSU and video card using OCCTP, no errors at all. I've reinstalled my nVidia drivers using the 'Clean install' option while doing so.
I assembled the computer myself about 5 months ago, I also installed the OS at the same time. Since then it has been running flawlessly except for a driver clash I experienced some time back.

PS: The first dump files attached dating back to November are old and can be ignored. The BSoD they are about was caused by a driver clash between ThreatFire and a gaming controller driver I use. I forgot to remove the dump files before uploading the file.

No DMP files attached
If the error code is 116

"It's not a true crash, in the sense that the bluescreen was initiated only because the combination of video driver and video hardware was being unresponsive, and not because of any synchronous processing exception".

Since Vista, the "Timeout Detection and Recovery" (TDR) components of the OS video subsystem have been capable of doing some truly impressive things to try to recover from issues which would have caused earlier OSs like XP to crash.

As a last resort, the TDR subsystem sends the video driver a "please restart yourself now!" command and waits a few seconds.

If there's no response, the OS concludes that the video driver/hardware combo has truly collapsed in a heap, and it fires off that stop 0x116 BSOD.

If playing with video driver versions hasn't helped, make sure the box is not overheating.

Try removing a side panel and aiming a big mains fan straight at the motherboard and GPU.

Run it like that for a few hours or days - long enough to ascertain whether cooler temperatures make a difference.

If so, it might be as simple as dust buildup and subsequently inadequate cooling.

I would download cpu-z and gpu-z (both free) and keep an eye on the video temps Let us know if you need help

Can you update the display driver either from AMD's site or from Lenovo's site?

Code:

It is very old, probably never got updated.

Also can you update the BIOS, from lenovo's site?

Code:
BiosVendor = LENOVO
BiosVersion = 30CN59WW
BiosReleaseDate = 06/30/2010
SystemManufacturer = LENOVO
SystemProductName = IdeaPad Y560
SystemVersion = Rev 1.0
BaseBoardManufacturer = Lenovo
BaseBoardProduct = KL3
BaseBoardVersion = Rev 1.0
It seems to be an old laptop .....

BTW, from the pictures it seems to be the GPU might be corrupted, too. If updating the display driver and the BIOS cannot fix the issue, better you take it to a hardware mechanic, as it should be out of warranty I guess.

EDIT: Oops ... sorry Harry, you have done it much better than me Ash please follow what x BlueRobot suggested.

Hello guys,

So as title says, I am getting BSOD in SC2. I never had this problem before and got BSOD maybe twice during more than 2 years of activity.

I installed Legacy of the Void (last addition to SC2), but I did not play SC in a long time so I am not sure if this is related only to new part or to whole game.

I am getting this error in one specific part of the specific mission and I cannot get over it.

Please help.

Greetings So for a 0x00000116 BSOD Code Error playing demanding games, good while these BSOD's dissapeared but are back and now am at ends wit About a year ago I had constant BSOD's with any games I played though Warthunder and Warframe gave the biggest guarantee for this So I figured after reviewing my problem and the info I could find to swap my graphics card so switched from a to GTX and that seemed to alleviate the symptoms but as only mere weeks they returned and I decided to visit the store where BSOD playing demanding games, Error Code 0x00000116 I buy my gear They checked my whole system ran standard benchmarks but also the Warthunder benchmark but it did not BSOD for them at any point which was not helpful but what was noticed was the CPU heat so we replaced the cooling To make things more odd though the BSOD's where caused by dxgkrnl sys dxgmms sys and nvlddmkm sys they dissapeared for nearly months after replacing the cooling So now I am BSOD playing demanding games, Error Code 0x00000116 again unable to play certain games as they almost instantly BSOD Monitoring my system on my second screen no oddities occurred before the BSOD HWmonitor even the temperatures never hit above C I tried turning off various services ran CCleaner Reinstalled Windows ran Checkdisk turned off all booting non essential software I am probably forgetting something but I just BSOD playing demanding games, Error Code 0x00000116 can't figure this out I think it could be the motherboard or RAM but I most of all suspect a bad power network seeing as we have light bulbs burn out in mere days Now my question is what do you guys think it could be and how can I figure this out with utmost accuracy I attached the zip with all requested information but let me know if more is needed Thank you in advance for any help Sincerely Other games like GTA on near highest settings won't cause BSOD's or SWTOR GalCiv neither nor smite nor Elite Dangerous

That is your video driver showing a TDR error. A TGR error (Time Delay and Recovery) is when your video driver crashes and does not recover in the time allotted by Windows, so Windows assumes a graphics failure and shuts down.

Download the installer from Drivers - Download NVIDIA Drivers (not needed if you already have it).
Uninstall All nvidia items in Control Panel > Programs and features3D Vision Control Driver
3D Vision Driver
Graphics Driver
HD Audio Driver
PhysX
nvidia Update
GeForce Experience
(Are you using nvidia chipset drivers? If so, dont uninstall anything other than those are listed).
Uninstall the display driver using DDU. Display Driver Uninstaller Download version 14.0.0.1
Install teh driver now. While installing, Select Custom (Advanced) install. In the next page, follow this settings:
That means, install the display driver and PhysX only.

Download the 13.9 driver from here then use AMD Uninstall Utility to remove all traces of your current driver, CCC etc. Reboot and install the 13.9 driver.

   Note
When installing choose 'Advanced' or 'Custom' (whichever option is available, just not Express) and uncheck everything except the video driver.

Hi, I'm having trouble as to what's causing these BSOD's on my computer and how I can fix it.

One of the main things that I've noticed happening that seems to be different is that almost every time that my computer crashes, my video card gets "Error Code 43: Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems" and I have to uninstall and reinstall my video card drivers to fix it.

Other than that, I'm somewhat of a novice when it comes to BSOD's and I have a hard time seeing what the problem is. Help would be much appreciated.

Hi there, ive been getting random crashes while playing league of legends. sometimes the screen will just go black and the computer will restart. originally i thought it might be a temp issue, so i replaced my thermal paste and my temp never goes above 50c. I also used driver sweeper and reinstalled my drivers, and even installed older drivers and that didnt work. Then i tried my old Ati 6500 and that started to crash as well. so at this point im at a loss to what it could be so here is the error report thingy from blue screen view.

I have a friend with a HP Pavillion who had to do a system recovery due to a virus. We did a system recovery both from the hard drive and the cd's, now when he tries to boot up he gets the BSOD 0x00000116 error code with a message about memory error and a physical memory dump. It recommends to go into the BIOS and disable caching and shadowing but when I go into the BIOS if find no such settings.

A:BSOD error code 0x00000116 after system recovery to factory specs, won't boot

0x116: VIDEO_TDR_ERROR
This indicates that an attempt to reset the display driver and recover from a timeout failed. Updating the drivers from HP's site would be the answer.

As for limited BIOS access you can thank HP for that. Dell does the same thing.

Question: Before doing a system recovery did you make sure first that the system was completely clean of all infections?

Hi,

I've just gone and bought starcraft 2 and set up went fine however when i go to play the game about 5 minutes in the game crashes and the screen goes black and a "no signal" message appears on my screen, the sound from the game sticks, and have to restart my pc. this has happened once when i clicked on the create character and the second time it did it during 5 minutes of doing the tutorials.

also the voices played at times then others nothing? im guessing this is linked to the blackscreening?

here are my system specs:
processor: intel quad core cpu 6600 @ 240 ghz
ram: 3gb
graphics card : gtx 240
operating system: windows vista 32 - bit

any help/advice would be much appreciated

thanks,

James

Hi everyone
I've been having problems for a while now getting BSOD playing Starcraft 2 (and I think on skyrim as well although I don't play it as much)

I'm not entirely clear what I'm supposed to write here to accompany the zipped folders so tell me if you need to know something else please.

My laptop:
Manufacturer: Dell
Model: XPS L502X
Processor: Intel Core i7-2630QM CPU @ 2.00GHz
RAM: 6.00 GB (5.90 GB usable)
Windows edition: windows 7 home premium 64 bit (I believe that the laptop came with it installed but I may be mistaken)

I bought the laptop new at the start of May 2011

Please bear in mind that whilst I consider myself above average normally in my computer knowledge, around here is going to be a different story.

Thanks in advance for any help you can give.

13 memory dumps from 13 Sep to 30 Oct (about 6 weeks)
4 different BSOD errors
4 different causes blamed
Still not enough to see if this is a hardware pattern or not.

As such, please run these free diagnostics. They'll save you a lot of time and heartache if there is a hardware failure, and you'll have the disks on hand in case you need them in the future:

Quote:
H/W Diagnostics:
Please start by running these bootable hardware diagnostics:
Memory Diagnostics (read the details at the link)
HD Diagnostic (read the details at the link)

Also, please run one of these free, independent online malware scans to ensure that your current protection hasn't been compromised: Malware (read the details at the link)

Please uninstall Daemon Tools as it has been known to cause BSOD's on some Win7 installations.

Also, please run Driver Verifier according to these directions:

Quote:
Using Driver Verifier is an iffy proposition. Most times it'll crash and it'll tell you what the driver is. But sometimes it'll crash and won't tell you the driver. Other times it'll crash before you can log in to Windows. If you can't get to Safe Mode, then you'll have to resort to offline editing of the registry to disable Driver Verifier.

So, I'd suggest that you first backup your stuff and then make sure you've got access to another computer so you can contact us if problems arise. Then make a System Restore point (so you can restore the system using the Vista/Win7 Startup Repair feature).

Then, here's the procedure:
- Go to Start and type in "verifier" (without the quotes) and press Enter
- Select "Create custom settings (for code developers)" and click "Next"
- Select "Select individual settings from a full list" and click "Next"
- Select everything EXCEPT FOR "Low Resource Simulation" and click "Next"
NOTE: You can use Low Resource Simulation if you'd like. From my limited experimentation it makes the BSOD's come faster.
- Select "Select driver names from a list" and click "Next"
Then select all drivers NOT provided by Microsoft and click "Next"
- Select "Finish" on the next page.

Reboot the system and wait for it to crash to the Blue Screen. Continue to use your system normally, and if you know what causes the crash, do that repeatedly. The objective here is to get the system to crash because Driver Verifier is stressing the drivers out. If it doesn't crash for you, then let it run for at least 36 hours of continuous operation (an estimate on my part).

Reboot into Windows (after the crash) and turn off Driver Verifier by going back in and selecting "Delete existing settings" on the first page, then locate and zip up the memory dump file and upload it with your next post.

If you can't get into Windows because it crashes too soon, try it in Safe Mode.
If you can't get into Safe Mode, try using System Restore from your installation DVD to set the system back to the previous restore point that you created.

If that doesn't work, post back and we'll have to see about fixing the registry entry off-line:

Code:
Delete these registry keys (works in XP, Vista, Win7):
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management\VerifyDrivers
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management\VerifyDriverLevel
More info on this at this link: http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=244617&sd=RMVP

A:BSOD playing starcraft

Hello jeroenlucassen and welcome to Sevenforums!

There's a few things to look at here, especially a few drivers I've suspected. Your dump does not contain a whole bunch of useful information, just the usual bugchecks and kernel pointers - which we cannot use to a whole lot. Was this the only dump you were able to upload? With that said, let's look at some conclusions.

BSOD Analyse

Be aware of these drivers

Code:
Modulenaam: PCASp50a64
Weergegeven naam: PCASp50a64 NDIS Protocol Driver
Stuurprogrammatype: Kernel
Datum koppeling: 29-11-2006 3:45:19
PCAUSA, a single small company driven by a single guy. The driver is quite old. If you can find this extension in Control Panel > Uninstall Programs/Software I suggest uninstalling it if you don't use it to something specific. If the driver keeps showing in C:\Windows\system32\Drivers\PCASp50a64.sys, let me know and we'll find a path to get rid of it.

SFC /scannow

We usually ask people to do this command to check if Windows is corrupted. It's the most common used one to check if the Windows files are corrupted. If it'll find errors, it'll restore them.

   Tip
If you're having a custom customization layer on your Aero, it's likely to get restored to default.
Press Start | search 'cmd' | Right-click it
| open as Admin | type SFC /SCANNOW

SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker

That's basically what I've found. Remember to unplug any devices that you don't use by the looks of it.

Best Regards,
Frederik.

Hi mancowherd.

A stop 0x116 is a display/graphics related issue. The noticeable probable causes are
Overclocking.
Overheating
Dust allocation inside the computer
Power supply issue
Malfunctioning display driver
Failing GPU.
So first ou have to observe how it is running without overclocking any hardware viz. CPU, GPU and RAM. Set all them to default clock values.

Is the computer hot? Report us the heat of the computer after a couple of hours of your normal usage. Upload a screenshot of the summery tab of Speccy. Alternatively, you can publish a Speccy snapshot too: Speccy - Publish Snapshot of your System Specs .

Open the computer and clean all the air vents and fan grills so that it can blow the air out efficiently.

Check if the Power Supply Unit (PSU) supplying adequate power to the computer or not.
eXtreme Power Supply Calculator
Also let us know the wattage of the PSU.

How long you ran furmark? Did it show any artifacts? Or did it crash during the stress test?

Plus, at least as a test, install the NVIDIA DRIVERS 314.22WHQL only, as it is the most stable version of the display driver released lately.
Uninstall All nvidia items in Control Panel > Programs and features3D Vision Control Driver
3D Vision Driver
Graphics Driver
HD Audio Driver
PhysX
nvidia Update
(Are you using nvidia chipset drivers? If so, dont uninstall anything other than those are listed).
Now follow Drivers - Clean Left over Files after Uninstalling
Download 314.22 WHQL. While installing, Select Custom (Advanced) install. In the next page, follow this settings:
Let us know the results.

** Switchable graphics environment has some inherent drawback that it sometimes fail during switching graphics from the onboard to the dedicated and vice-versa. That is tough to get rid of. But if all the tests yield clear results, the situation my be narrowed down to it.

Seems that there is a problem with the CPU itself

Run Prime 95 to test your CPU. Carefully the instructions in this tutorial: CPU - Stress Test with Prime95. Run 3 separate tests, one on each of the settings (Blend, Small FFTs, Large FFTs). Post back with your results

According to your dump file the issue is with your Processor. This occurs when the processor is non-responsive or is deadlocked.

Possible Solutions :

a) BIOS bug
b) A driver whose activity is causing the target processor to lock up
c) A hardware defect

Greetings,

I'm encountering random BSODs mostly playing Starcraft 2. The errors tend to occur later in games with more complex play (more units, more interaction among units).

I've attached the recommended information. I put this computer together last November. Here are the specs:

Any suggestions are welcome and please let me know if you need more information.

Thanks,
Tom

As the title suggests I've been getting the BSOD only when playing SC2 or D3. It seems to happen more often in multiplayer for SC2 but more often in D3. In both I've reduced the graphic settings to the lowest but to no avail. I have the latest drivers and am lost as to what to do next.

I've attached my zipped diagnostic info. Any help would be greatly appreciated, it is very frustrating. Thanks!

Hello,.....

I have a Toshiba L500 laptop with intel GMA4500 HD integrated card, and from about 3 days ago, a BSOD with the error code 0x00000116 started to show up when playing games (I was playing counter strike source, Hitman blood money and flatout 2), i tried downgrading the graphics driver and upgrading it but no good, this did not happen at all before that time, i got the BSOD for twice now and i uploaded the 2 memory dump files in .ZIP attached file, hope you can help me finding the problem, i know that 0x116 is about the timeout of display reset, also i had no new programs installed or new devices installed, thanks.

Re your 116

Quote:

I would download cpu-z and gpu-z (both free) and keep an eye on the video temps CPUID - System & hardware benchmark, monitoring, reporting

It occurs most 0x00000116 playing certain games: BSOD while STOP often while playing certain less graphically intensive games Mafia II Overlord II and almost not at all while playing things like Witcher or LA Noire It's a brand new HD so I'm trying to rule out everything else despite the fact that the BSOD points to atikmpag sys especially since this bluescreen issue started after i upgraded to from bit to bit Windows Ran furmark for minutes and the GPU was stable BSOD while playing certain games: STOP 0x00000116 noticed some very minor artifacts at the beginning of the test happened once and couldn't reproduce it though so i suspected it might be because of how the GPU handles the switch from low-performance mode to high performance mode Forced high performance mode through MSI Afterburner and the issue still occured Ran Driver Sweeper and installed the latest drivers from AMD Catalyst still nothing Thought it might be a bit compatibility issue with the sound card drivers as well since it's a pretty shady model so i did the whole driver sweeper and latest drivers from Creative thing Didn't work Note that I'm using this because the onboard Realtek chip stopped working like years ago I think i fried it messing around at the back panel trying to hook up a TV Naturally I suspected the dodgy Zeppelin RAM bought it recently along with the videocard and ran Windows Memory Diagnostic and ran the games only with the Geil RAM as well but the issue still occurred I wanted to rule them out without wasting hours running memtest so i think that did the trick Defragged with Puran Defrag cleaned registries with CCleaner checked temps with HWmonitor and they're all good I even saw something about DT Lite causing BSODs so I removed that too cleaned the case Maybe it's just me but the crashes seem to be happening even quicker now Also it's a relatively fresh windows install - months Anyways I'd appreciate some help in finding the culprit before I start throwing money out the window switching out hardware parts I still want to squeeze a few months out of this build until I can afford to replace the whole thing Thanks

Hi!
I've recently (started 2 days ago) started to get BSOD while playing games and also on occasion while streaming video.
When I play the games the BSOD appears after about 5-10 minutes after starting the game, happens every time.
I have reinstalled my graphics drivers and removed the overclock I had on my processor.
I dont know much about computers to just gonna paste some information and hope that someone can help me out.
Caused by driver: dxgkrnl.sys
Caused by adress: dxgkrnl.sys+5d134
Crash adress: ntoskrnl.exe+70380
More information is attached ?n the debug files from the DM log collector and also a txt file with monitoring data from HWMonitor.
I will be spamming refresh on this thread so if you need any additional information I will do my best to provide it.
Thanks in advance!

I have had this issue for a while but only recently did I realise that it has resulted in a BSOD before I when the display had gone I had just rebooted the machine However after leaving it for a minute or 0x00000116 games atikmpag.sys playing when BSOD two it BSOD'd and I finally got to see an error to start debugging this problem This error occurs seemingly randomly when I am playing games on my EyeFinity setup Three Monitors sometimes I can play a game solidly for hours with no problem or I can start a game and get this error almost instantly This has lead me to believe that it isn't an issue with a specific game as it happens with pretty much all of them The BSOD is STOP x atikmpag sys Attached is the dump from SF Diagnostic Tool What an awesome idea And here is my system specs Windows x AMD Phenom II X BSOD 0x00000116 atikmpag.sys when playing games T MSI FXA-GD Crucial Ballistix x GB Radeon HD Asus Xonar DS TB Seagate OCZ W Thermaltake RPMx HP quot Monitors x EyeFinity I have googled around this and all the solutions seem to vary greatly so I have decided to try here Thanks a lot for any support it is greatly appreciated

Hi Colaran.

Dont use a BETA display driver.

Uninstall the installed display driver using DDU. Then install the CCC 14.4 WHQL only.

Let us know for any further BSOD after doing it.

Does the graphics card have a fan on it? If so, make sure it is operating. Also check the area around the card to make sure there is not dust/dirt clogging the area around the card. Also you might want to check this link to see if it helps ya any http://forums.geforce.com

First I would like you to do something very important for me. We need as much detail as possible as we have to look up certain components, the details help us do that. Please fill out your system specs and include the PSU and CPU cooler as well, please.

I realize you said you have already reinstalled the video card driver, if you would please do it again the way I am going to show you so as to not have any left over drivers.

I am going to give you some links that will help you get a good clean install and not have any drivers you don't need that will conflict with other drivers. Download a WHQL driver from Latest AMD Catalyst Video Driver for Windows 7 .

Whenever I play Starcraft II (sometimes Skyrim). my comp suddenly freezes..
the sound it makes is like getting a BSOD (repeating sounds) and the sound get fixed for a while and then goes back to the sound it makes (it's really annoying xD)
and whenever it freezes, i need to force shut down it (remove the plug, pressing/holding the power button doesn't work)
so i want to know how will I fix this because it happens every 30 mins. (i think) and it's really annoying..
and also. the game DOES meet on the Specs of my PC
here's my SPECS:
Intel Core 2 Duo E7400 @ 2.80Ghz
ASUS P5QL SE Motherboard
American Megatrends Version 0402 (BIOS)
NVIDIA 9500GT w/ 1 GB Memory

Hi, I have gotten a couple of BSODs when playing games. I am running Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 64-bit, OEM edition. I have attached the dump information as outlined in the sticky. Any help would be much appreciated, and thanks in advance!

A:BSOD when playing games (Diablo 3 + Starcraft II)

Stop 0x124 is a hardware error

If you are overclocking try resetting your processor to standard settings and see if that helps.

If you continue to get BSODS, here are some things you may want to consider.

This is usually heat related, defective hardware, memory or even processor though it is"possible" that it is driver related (rare).

Quote:
Stop 0x124 - what it means and what to try
Synopsis:

A "stop 0x124" is fundamentally different to many other types of bluescreens because it stems from a hardware complaint.

Stop 0x124 minidumps contain very little practical information, and it is therefore necessary to approach the problem as a case of hardware in an unknown state of distress.
Generic "Stop 0x124" Troubleshooting Strategy:

1) Ensure that none of the hardware components are overclocked. Hardware that is driven beyond its design specifications - by overclocking - can malfunction in unpredictable ways.
2) Ensure that the machine is adequately cooled.
If there is any doubt, open up the side of the PC case (be mindful of any relevant warranty conditions!) and point a mains fan squarely at the motherboard. That will rule out most (lack of) cooling issues.
3) Update all hardware-related drivers: video, sound, RAID (if any), NIC... anything that interacts with a piece of hardware.
It is good practice to run the latest drivers anyway.
4) Update the motherboard BIOS according to the manufacturer's instructions.
Their website should provide detailed instructions as to the brand and model-specific procedure.
5) Rarely, bugs in the OS may cause "false positive" 0x124 events where the hardware wasn't complaining but Windows thought otherwise (because of the bug).
At the time of writing, Windows 7 is not known to suffer from any such defects, but it is nevertheless important to always keep Windows itself updated.

6) Attempt to (stress) test those hardware components which can be put through their paces artificially.
The most obvious examples are the RAM and HDD(s).
For the RAM, use the in-built memory diagnostics (run MDSCHED) or the 3rd-party memtest86 utility to run many hours worth of testing.
For hard drives, check whether CHKDSK /R finds any problems on the drive(s), notably "bad sectors".
Unreliable RAM, in particular, is deadly as far as software is concerned, and anything other than a 100% clear memory test result is cause for concern. Unfortunately, even a 100% clear result from the diagnostics utilities does not guarantee that the RAM is free from defects - only that none were encountered during the test passes.

7) As the last of the non-invasive troubleshooting steps, perform a "vanilla" reinstallation of Windows: just the OS itself without any additional applications, games, utilities, updates, or new drivers - NOTHING AT ALL that is not sourced from the Windows 7 disc.
Should that fail to mitigate the 0x124 problem, jump to the next steps.
If you run the "vanilla" installation long enough to convince yourself that not a single 0x124 crash has occurred, start installing updates and applications slowly, always pausing between successive additions long enough to get a feel for whether the machine is still free from 0x124 crashes.
Should the crashing resume, obviously the very last software addition(s) may be somehow linked to the root cause.
If stop 0x124 errors persist despite the steps above, and the harware is under warranty, consider returning it and requesting a replacement which does not suffer periodic MCE events.
Be aware that attempting the subsequent harware troubleshooting steps may, in some cases, void your warranty:

8) Clean and carefully remove any dust from the inside of the machine.
Reseat all connectors and memory modules.
Use a can of compressed air to clean out the RAM DIMM sockets as much as possible.

9) If all else fails, start removing items of hardware one-by-one in the hope t... Read more

Hi,

this is my first time posting on this forum. I hope I did not miss any rules.

I have been running two monitors on my ASUS N55SF laptop (hp w2007 and BenQ XL2410T).

It ran great for about first 2 years despite me treating it like a desktop. I could run LoL and Starcraft max setting no problem.

Then it started to give me these BSODs mainly related to video drivers. So I took the following actions:

Use generic laptop monitor (Result: less frequent BSOD)
Update/Reinstall/undo updates on video drivers and monitor drivers
Change between the 2 video cards to run each monitors
Use single monitor
RAM test (no error)
Factory reset + Change to SSD from HDD
Temperature control ( monitoring temp, cleaning insides and fan, reapplying thermal paste)
etc.

Nothing I did really worked out. Still giving me BSOD orz.

Hi, I am running Windows 7 Ultimate Edition SP1 64-bit. I was playing Starcraft 2 and I got BSOD. I haven't gotten a BSOD in a while so I thought it was weird.

I wasn't sure if it's my graphics card overheating so I set my automatic fan curve to be more conservative and also took steps to decrease the ambient temperature outside the case.

The only thing I remember from the BSOD was "System service exception". So I ran SFC /scannow and I obtained the attached CBS.log and sfcdetails.txt (containing [SR] strings).

Please see the attached files and any help is greatly appreciated.

Thank you,
John

Hi,
BSOD have been occurring every 2-3 days, mostly while watching YouTube videos and playing games.

System spec:
Model: ASUSTeK K52JT
x64 - the original installed OS is on the system. - full retail - What is the age of system (hardware): 2009 i think? - What is the age of OS installation: 2009 i think?

I bought the computer last year, formatted it twice myself.
I have also upgraded the ram from 4gb DDR3 to 8gb DDR3 (crucial)

A:BSOD playing starcraft II, watching youtube videos

Age of System:
Code:
BIOS Version/Date American Megatrends Inc. K52JT.206, 1/25/2011
BIOS is fairly up to date, so likely nothing to worry about there.

Device Concerns:None.
Software Concerns:You only had one .dmp file. It appears the others were cleared away with CCleaner. Please refrain from using CCleaner for the duration of your troubleshooting.
Analysis:Your one .dmp was inconclusive. I did see in your Event Viewer logs a 0x116 Bugcheck:BugCheck 0x116

All of your crashes were DirectX/graphics card related. DirectX comes installed with Windows, so this may indicate Windows corruption. It may also be that you have corrupted drivers or a graphics card hardware problem.
If you are overclocking any hardware, please stop.

Check Windows for corruption. Run SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker up to three times to fix all errors with a restart in between each. Post back if it continues to show errors after a fourth run or if the first run comes back with no integrity violations. Use OPTION THREE of SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker to provide us with the sfcdetails.txt file if errors occur.
Follow the steps for Diagnosing basic problems with DirectX. To re-install your display card drivers as outlined in the DirectX link, use the following steps.
Download the drivers you want for your display card(s)
Click Start Menu
Click Control Panel
Click Uninstall a program
For AMD:Uninstall AMD Catalyst Install Manager if it is listed (this should remove all AMD graphics software and drivers)
If AMD Catalyst Install Manager is not listed, use the following method to uninstall the graphics drivers (this applies to onboard graphics, as well):Click Start Menu
Right Click My Computer/Computer
Click Manage
Click Device Manager from the list on the left
Expand Display adapters
Do the following for each adapter (in case you have multiple display cards)Right click the adapter
Click Uninstall (do not click OK in the dialog box that pops up after hitting Uninstall)
Put a tick in Delete driver software for this device (if this option is available, otherwise just hit OK) and hit OK

Alternatively:Login as an adminstrative user
Click Start Menu
Click Control Panel
Click Hardware and Sound
Click Device Manager (the last link under Devices and Printers)
Expand Display adapters
Do the following for each adapter (in case you have multiple display cards)Right click the adapter
Click Uninstall (do not click OK in the dialog box that pops up after hitting Uninstall)
Put a tick in Delete driver software for this device (if this option is available, otherwise just hit OK) and hit OK

Restart your computer after uninstalling drivers for all display cards
Install the driver you selected for the display cards once Windows starts

Remember to try multiple versions of the graphics drivers, download them fresh, and install the freshly downloaded drivers.

   Warning
Before you proceed with the following, answer these two questions: Are you still under warranty? Does your warranty allow you to open up the machine to check hardware? If you are unsure of the answers to these questions, contact your system manufacturer. WARNING: The steps that follow can void your warranty!!!

It's not a true crash, in the sense that the bluescreen was initiated only because the combination of video driver and video hardware was being unresponsive, and not because of any synchronous processing exception.

Since Vista, the "Timeout Detection and Recovery" (TDR) components of the OS video subsystem have been capable of doing some truly impressive things to try to recover from issues which would have caused earlier OSs like XP to crash. As a last resort, the TDR subsystem sends the video driver a "please restart yourself now!" comma... Read more

Hello,

I have a legit, validated copy of Windows 7 64-bit Ultimate and I have gotten fed up with all the different stop errors, maybe once or twice a week. It's really weird. I don't get them everyday.

Usually I get them when playing a game. I've tried to update all my graphics drivers, but I've seen on other posts that I may need to update system files or other drivers?

The BSOD's include the following:

BAD POOL HEADER
IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
MEMORY MANAGEMENT
PAGE FAULT IN NON PAGED AREA
PFN_LIST_CORRUPT

I just don't know how to troubleshoot all the different errors. I have an active antivirus installed as well.

My RAM is CORSAIR Vengeance 16GB (4 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800).

Thanks all.
