I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Since about August I would say my computer has been completely locking up and restarting then I check the dump files and I'm told that the culprit module is either ntoskrnl exe or hal dll Since I have 0x124 WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR more than GB of RAM full dumps haven't been made 0x124 WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR but I see that I can do such by some alterations which I will do in the event it occurs again The weird thing is I redid Windows on 0x124 WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR the th of September and until the st of October the computer was fine no BSOD etc For almost days there wasn't a single issue I updated the video card drivers on the th of October until then I'd been using which was released on May after redoing Windows until the th of last month then I updated the drivers to which was released on July then on the st of last month October my computer's freezes and restarts started happening it's only done it once since the th which was on the st Which is what the attached dump file is for I've uninstalled those drivers completely after the freeze and restart and installed the latest drivers that were released on the th of October I don't think it's a overheating issue because I can run my system at full load without problems for example I've been rendering with ds max all day and not a problem which really taxes my RAM and CPU The freeze BSOD seems to happen when the system is either idle or virtually idle for example I'll be browsing the internet or watching a blu-ray WhoCrashed Dump Analysis On Thu PM GMT your computer crashed crash dump file C Windows Minidump - - dmp This was probably caused by the following module ntoskrnl exe nt x ADE C Bugcheck code x x xFFFFFA C F x x Error WHEA UNCORRECTABLE ERROR file path C Windows system ntoskrnl exe product Microsoft Windows Operating System company Microsoft Corporation description NT Kernel amp System Bug check description This bug check indicates that a fatal hardware error has occurred This bug check uses the error data that is provided by the Windows Hardware Error Architecture WHEA This is likely to be caused by a hardware problem problem This problem might be caused by a thermal issue The crash took place in the Windows kernel Possibly this problem is caused by another driver that cannot be identified at this time

Got the most infamous 0x124 BSOD on my dell. System specs down below. Logs attached. Memtest86+ ran for 8+ passes with no errors. Ran CHKDSK with no errors. SFC with no errors. CPU temps seem to be above 80 C which hints it to be a heat isssue. Will clean up and unclog any vents if possible and will check the fans. Meanwhile want someone to check the logs. Will run driver verifier when I get the chance. Drivers seem to be updated. Thanks!

i have had this error for like a month, tested all components on the Pc and none of them seems to be failing, so i started searching so i can figured out which component is failing according to minidump file

according to minidump it say Genuine_Intel so i believe that was a processor problem
contacted with intel support and they gave me test tool and in the start of the test Genuine_Intel Passed the test

not sure what to try now

Unfortunately there is just a single dump which only shows an internal unclassified error what means the error isn't publicly documented.

The crashes happen most often when I'm watching a YouTube video but they have also occurred a few times when just watching an MP or MKV with Zoom Player Recently it's been mostly x but there are instances of xA WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR when watching videos (0x124) in there also as you can see The computer was built from all new parts in October WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR (0x124) when watching videos of this year and Memtest and Disk Check reports no errors These crashes have kind of ruined the pleasure of having a brand new PC so I'm hoping that some knowledgeable people here can help me figure this out Thanks a lot in advance EDIT I have not overclocked anything on this system and the temperatures seem fine I've got two large chassis fans and I'm using the stock cooler for the CPU EDIT I noticed in the Intel Processor Diagnostic Tool results file that some kind of ASUS overclocking was active so I disabled that after I updated the BIOS in case that needed to be done

Before I analyse the ZIP, since you upgraded your hardware, have you checked your BIOS and set it to "load optimized defaults"?

A:Whea_uncorrectable_error

Consistently the WHEA error records report that there was an bus issue between your RAM and CPU. Either CPU is bad, your RAM is bad, the motherboard is bad, or your PSU is bad. I recommend doing a couple hardware tests.

RAM: Memtest86+ - 7+ passes (1 pass = all tests 1x)
CPU: Prime95 ("Mersenne Prime Test" in UBCD) - Torture Test; Blend; overnight (9+ hours)

Both of these are included in the UBCD if you prefer a Live CD environment (which is the best environment to test hardware on). Also, please provide us temps/voltages using HWInfo with Sensors only option checked. Log two 30-minute instances: one for idle, and one for high load. If you can get the system to crash during high load logging, that's even better. Last, make sure that when running Prime95 that you check temps during first 30minutes or so to see if temps are stable. Prime95 runs very hot so be sure your cooling can handle it before letting it run extensively.

1. Welcome to Tech Support Guy
2. If it only happens during game play the likely causes are
A. If you have overclocked it may well be a thermal issue and you should try returning settings to default and see if that works
B. Check for updates for drivers on the graphics card and from the motherboard site - the network adapter and the audio driver. Those are the three favourites
C. In your spec you have not listed the ram, what is it please make, and exact details
3. If none of the above help then as you have a 4th generation Intel processor I would refer to the motherboard site with reference to this
BIOS updater for New 4th Gen Intel Core Processors
Before using the new Intel 4th Gen Core processors, we suggest that you first download the BIOS updater for new Intel 4th Gen Core Processors and then update the BIOS using this tool.
4. If you still have the problem send me a copy please of the dump file
Computer
Windows
MiniDump
then on the actual dump file right click and click send - to compressed folder and select to desktop
On reply click go advanced please and attach to your post

My sistem crashes when I play: YT videos, windows games(Fruit ninja)...with the same BSOD error WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR.
I have a dual boot with with Windows 7, and after this error shows I have to do a hard reset and if I login in W7 a disk checking is scheduled on all my partitions(I let the sistem check all drives no problems found) :|....never had one single BSOD on W7 till now!
So I started investigating possible causes: Nivida, Realtek etc drivers.....hardware problems: cpu, memory, hard drive...ran orthos, memtest, hd tune....no problems found :|....software I only have ccleaner and winamp installed.
My stupid curiosity to test Windows 8!

A:Whea_uncorrectable_error

STOP 0x124 is a hardware error caused by a possible defect in one of your hardware components

1.) Update your BIOS
2.) Verify that nothing is overclocked

Run Prime95 to test your CPU. Carefully the instructions in this tutorial: CPU - Stress Test with Prime95. Run 3 separate tests, one on each of the settings (Blend, Small FFTs, Large FFTs). Post back with your results.
Note that this test may overheat the CPU, ensure proper cooling.

Hello,
I get some crash with this error : WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR and I don't know why...
Here is what "WhoCrashed" says :
Attachment 23533

I've launched a Memtest86, but after 4 hours and 8 passes, no problems were detected + i've tested another memory : G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 4 Go and the same problem.

The system crashes, the screen freezes and I can't move the mouse. I have no BSOD : strange.
I thought it was a driver problem but how do I check ? - in the device manager all seems OK.
What tests I can do ?

Hi! I am having a bit of trouble every time I run a game where after a few minutes I will get a blue screen with the WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR.
So far I have tried chkdsk, sfc scan, DISM, defragment, and I updated my bios and reset my bios. All of the tests I mentioned have had no errors in them.

2/19/16 Update
I tried safe mode with networking and tried to play Black Desert Online CBT2 and received the WHEA UNCORRECTABLE ERROR there as well.

Hello all,

For the past few weeks I have been getting a BSOD. It says WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR.

The problem was fixed temporarily by reinstalling Windows 8 (64 bit).

Specs
3570k
16GB Corair Vengeance
EVGA GTX660
ASUS P8Z77-V PRO
Samsung 840 Pro 128GB SSD
Seagate Barracuda 2TB Data drive.

I am very experienced with computers and I have looked into the event viewer errors.

I have been getting

The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck. The bugcheck was: 0x00000124 (0x0000000000000000, 0xfffffa800d8b0028, 0x00000000be200000, 0x0000000000021136). A dump was saved in: C:\Windows\MEMORY.DMP. Report Id: 021613-5484-01.

Every time I BSOD.

If you open that dump in a debugger and run the command "!errrec fffffa800b3e1028", the output of that will tell you what the hardware error is that it's being told to complain about by the CPU.

I used DM Log Collecter in safe mode and log file is in the attachment.

Unfortunately no dump is present in the zip file.
Please check in %systemroot%\minidump for a dump.

On a side note, I am a bit suspicious about your activation.

Yes. I understood. As you've already formatted your PC several times, I'd suspect that this is a hardware issue. Please start HW diag: Hardware Diagnostics
How did you test your RAM? one stick at a time eight passes per stick is the right way to do it.
Please check your CPU temperatures. Uninstall SuperAntiSpyware and install: ATK Package: ASUSTeK Computer Inc. -Support- Drivers and Download ATK Package
Disable nVidia Streaming Kernel Service in services.msc
Install Speccy and post a picture of the temperatures.

Ok guys I need help
My system shows operating system not found when I try to boot
When I put it on, I hear a beeping noise from the left side by the fan ( the cd drive is on the right)
When I tried installing windows 8 it shows
WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR
Can you help me out please?

A:WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR

Hi,

Try running Memtest86: RAM - Test with Memtest86+

Also, make sure you have the DVD drive or whatever you're using to install Windows 8 as the default boot device.

Hello o Two days ago I had my first BSOD with this Whea_uncorrectable_error new computer Whea_uncorrectable_error I attempted a system Whea_uncorrectable_error restore which failed apparently interfered with by Avast I ran WhoCrashed today which traces the first BSOD to nvhda v sys as SYSTEM THREAD EXCEPTION NOT HANDLED M Earlier in the week I had had a problem with GeForce Experience hanging while installing drivers I'm not sure it's connected WhoCrashed suggested it was the HDMI Audio driver Today I Had a series of BSODs all labelled as WHEA UNCORRECTABLE ERROR After the first of today I did a fresh install of the NVIDIA drivers via GeForce Experience in the hopes that might deal with the issue BSODs did continue to drop unfortunately though now WhoCrashed traces them all to hal dll It bears mentioning that all the BSODs occurred while I was playing World of Tanks though the last one occurred immediately after logging out of the game I saw the desktop before the Blue Screen screeched at me I've no idea where to proceed from at this point

Randomly my PC will shutdown and give that error. I've searched high and low on the internet, and I've found two things it could be. One is a windows file error, so I ran the command script to have it check for issues, and it found none.

The second issue I saw was it could be a PSU voltage issue. I checked the BIOS and watched it for over an hour and it didn't fluctuate at all, so I'm not sure if that's the issue.

Is there anything else I can do to resolve this? If it's a voltage issue, is there a way to confirm it before I buy a new PSU?

This is a new laptop that restarts randomly after the computer is restarted. It will reboot several times with the same WHEA_Unrecoverable_Error message. It was bought with Win 8.1 and upgraded to 10 at the store before we took it home. This was done about 3 months ago.
I've also attached HP Assistant system information.

Hello, since I build my PC roughtly a year ago, I've been having BSODs regularly 1-2 times a month. Most of the time I get the same WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR, however there was once instance when I got SYSTEM_THREAH_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED and MEMORY_MANAGEMENT errors.

BSODs appear seemingly randomly, however I believe it might be related with the games I'm running. Don't know whether that is a useful piece of information, since this machine runs 24/7 and games run at least 60% of the time it's on (overnight too). But there were a few cases when I almost instantly (a few hours of play) got BSODed while running 3 games simultaneosly. Also vast majority of BSODs happened while I was actively using my PC.

There are no overheating issues, I've already looked into that. Not overclocked either.

Thank you for your time.

Recently I've seen BSOD issues on Gigabyte Z87 boards that were fixed with a UEFI update.
Yours is version F4, and dates from 2013-05-16

The memory dumps seem to give a pattern that's typical of hardware/compatibility/low-level driver issues.
As such, hardware diagnostics are needed. Here's a link to some free tests: Hardware Diagnostics
And, since there's a possibility of driver issues, please also run Driver Verifier according to these instructions: Driver Verifier Settings

Please remove TrueCrypt as it's no longer supported by the manufacturer and it has some known security vulnerabilities: TrueCrypt

I have seen BSOD issues related to Comodo and to virtual machine software - but no firm signs are present in the dump files. It may be that these are a concern, but we'll look into them later on.

Please note the drivers below that date from before the release of Windows 8.1 (17 Oct 2013) - check to see that each and every one is compatible w/Windows 8.1 (at the manufacturer's website). If not, you must either remove the device and it's software - or locate a Windows 8.1 compatible update on the web. Removing some drivers may make the system unstable - so if you're unable to find updates, post back for info on the one's that can/cannot be safely removed.

The drivers that are struckout don't have updates available (AFAIK).
DO NOT delete them, just leave them be.

I am having random BSODs. WhoCrash is reporting back this:

This was probably caused by the following module: hal.dll (hal+0x12A3B)
Bugcheck code: 0x124 (0x0, 0xFFFFFA8005453028, 0xB66E4000, 0x9B000175)
Error: WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR
file path: C:\windows\system32\hal.dll
product: Microsoft? Windows? Operating System
company: Microsoft Corporation
description: Hardware Abstraction Layer DLL
Bug check description: This bug check indicates that a fatal hardware error has occurred. This bug check uses the error data that is provided by the Windows Hardware Error Architecture (WHEA).
This is likely to be caused by a hardware problem problem. This problem might be caused by a thermal issue.
The crash took place in a standard Microsoft module. Your system configuration may be incorrect. Possibly this problem is caused by another driver on your system that cannot be identified at this time.

If anyone can help, it would be greatly appreciated. Attached is the SF Diagnostic Tool Folder.

Hello prfella, Welcome to SF

All your dumps are pointing at a hardware error and stating the problem originated in the level 1 cache of your cpu as a first step i recommend you check the temperatures on your machine, install some monitoring software on your machine and check your idle temps then run a stress test on your cpu Hardware - Stress Test With Prime95 i recommend you dont leave your machine unattended while doing this (at least not for a while at the start) and see how temps rise while loading up the processor and report back. If temps go to high quit the test

0x124 is hardware-only related BSOD, and therefore you will just need to test each hardware component with stress tests, and then see what the results of the stress tests are.

Is this a self-build? If so, are the components all in the MS approved-for Vista list? If not, could be the reason, Vista is picky it seems. Alternatives are check for latest bios update, chipset driver updates. Next most likely problem is indeed a fault m/b

A:BSOD with WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR (124)

A "stop 0x124" is fundamentally different to many other types of bluescreens because it stems from a hardware complaint. Stop 0x124 minidumps contain very little practical information, and it is therefore necessary to approach the problem as a case of hardware in an unknown state of distress. You can read more on this error and what to try here... Stop 0x124 - what it means and what to try: Stop 124 - What it means and what to try

Hey guys,

After updating every driver I can find and doing a fresh install of windows 8.1 Pro, I am still having problems with WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE ERROR.

I have also updated my BIOS and ran sfc scan, memtest, stress tested my CPU and GPU and ran chkdsk.

Can anyone take a look at my crash dump and tell me what's going wrong?

SF Debug: GAMING-RIG-03_01_2015_194649_80.zip

SF Diagnostic: SF_03-01-2015.zip
I've noticed the crash address has changed since last time so maybe its something different?

Thanks in advance,

The dump file says that the system has experienced a failure in writing data to the L0 Cache of the CPU. Given that you are still facing problems after a clean install, I would say that it is a failing CPU. But, before I can confirm it, I would require more dump files because the ZIP file contained only 1 dump file and for 0x124, we need multiple dumps to check the pattern.

Also, kindly run the below CPU Diagnostics and report back with any errors if found and the temperature while your system is idle and under load (thanks usasma) -

Prime95 download site: GIMPS - Free Prime95 software downloads - PrimeNet
Prime95 Setup:
- extract the contents of the zip file to a location of your choice
- double click on the executable file
- select "Just stress testing"
- select the "Blend" test. If you've already run MemTest overnight please run the "Small FFTs" test instead. (run all 3 if you find a problem and note how long it takes to error out with each)
- "Number of torture test threads to run" should equal the number of CPU's times 2 (if you're using hyperthreading).
The easiest way to figure this out is to go to Task Manager...Performance tab - and see the number of boxes under CPU Usage History
Then run the test for 6 to 24 hours - or until you get errors (whichever comes first).
Monitor the CPU temperature and DON'T let it exceed 85?C. If it does, then you probably have a CPU cooling problem.
- CPU temps exceeding 60?C can cause errors in Prime95. Fix the cooling solution first, then run Prime95 again.
This won't necessarily crash the system - but check the output in the test window ... Read more

Hi and welcome to the forum. One of your mini-dumps is pointing to the driver file: IDSVia64.sys which is related to Norton Internet Security: Driver Reference Table For testing purposes I would un-install Norton by using control panel/uninstall first and then running the Norton removal tool to ensure all traces are removed: |MG| Norton Removal Tool 20.0.0.21 Download For the time being please use the built-in Windows 8 Defender as your security product, please ensure it is fully updated.

Another mini-dump is pointing to the driver file: intelppm.sys which is your Intel Processor Driver: Driver Reference Table Please ensure you have the latest version of this driver, also for testing purposes if you have any over-clocking please remove it.

I noticed you have a driver on your system that is out of date and needs updating. Please update this driver or un-install/remove it if un-needed:

SRTSPX64.SYS - Symantec Real Time Storage Protection (PEL) x64 (related to Norton): Driver Reference Table

Hello EightForum I have (124) Whea_uncorrectable_error processor_cache been tracking down this Bugcheck error and from my research I get the feeling I have a processor problem I just put this system together and everything seemed to come together nicely except when I tried to install the latest Whea_uncorrectable_error (124) processor_cache Sonicwall Global VPN client It conflicted with my USB wireless adapter caused temporary freezing sometime it would make the wireless useless Whea_uncorrectable_error (124) processor_cache I finally got these two working together nicely and I started getting these bugcheck errors Or at least these were the errors I was trapping The first couple of WHEAs' I ignored as it is windows after all But when it kept happening at random it was time to determine what was going on Just an FYI I have to use the Sonicwall VPN client for my work so if that is the problem I will have to go back to sigh I actually like most of the time Any help you can provide will be greatly appreciated

A:Whea_uncorrectable_error (124) processor_cache

You have a NETGEAR A6200 WiFi Adapter:

I do not recommend using wireless USB network devices. Especially in Win7/Win8 systems.
These wireless USB devices have many issues with Win7(and I suspect with Win8) - using Vista drivers with them is almost sure to cause a BSOD.
Should you want to keep using these devices, be sure to have Win7/Win8 drivers - DO NOT use Vista drivers!!!
An installable wireless PCI/PCIe card that's plugged into your motherboard is much more robust, reliable, and powerful.

We've seen a number of BSOD issues with SSD's. Here's the information that I've compiled so far:

There's not a whole bunch available to test SSD's. The "easiest" test is to remove the SSD, install a platter-based hard drive, install Windows and test for stability that way.
Here's some suggestions:
- Update the SSD's firmware to the latest available version (VERY IMPORTANT!!!)
- Update the motherboard controllers drivers to the latest available version from the controller manufacturer (NOT the mobo manufacturer unless you can't find any on the controller manufacturer's website)
- Slow the memory (RAM) down to the next slower speed (I've only seen one person who claimed that this worked for them).
- Use any manufacturer's utilities that you may have. If you don't have any, then try this free one (I haven't used it myself): Crystal Dew World
- Update chipset and storage controller drivers to the latest available from the manufacturer of the device (not the manufacturer of the motherboard). Be sure to update ALL controllers on the motherboard!
....NOTE: Recently (Nov 2011) we had BSOD issues with the Marvell 91xx controller and an SSD. You may have to switch controllers also.
- Replace the SSD with a platter based hard drive and see if that stops the BSOD's. If it does, then it's likely that there's a problem with the SSD OR an incompatibility with your system.
It's my opinion that SSD's aren't reliable enough (with current hardware) to be used on a system that needs to work reliably. Until I see reliability I will not recommend, nor will I use, SSD's for critical applications.
06 Dec 2011 - This post tends to confirm issues with certain SSD chipsets and certain controllers - [SOLVED] cant find the cause of BSOD F4 - Tech Support Forum
29 May 2012 - The frequency of BSOD's with SSD's seems to have been decreasing over the last several months. It may be approaching time to re-evaluate my stand on their suitability for use in production systems.
10 Nov 2012 - I'm seeing an upswing in SSD errors - but most appear due to older storage controller drivers. I strongly suggest NOT using storage controller drivers that don't date from 2012 (if none are available, don't connect an SSD to that controller)
05 Jan 2013 - very interesting post about difficulties with the Marvell controllers even when not connected to the SSD drives: https://www.eightforums.com/bsod-cra...tml#post169956

Bought computer from a friend and been running into this issue and struggling to figure out what exactly is causing it. I've nailed it down to either drivers or hardware but I don't know where to go from here to fix the problem. The issue doesn't seem to occur during any certain action. Gaming, idling, web surfing, watching videos have all triggered the BSOD.

A:Bsod whea_uncorrectable_error

Sorry for the delay in responding. There just aren't that many people who do BSOD analysis, so at times we get a bit overwhelmed!

Do your still need help with this problem?
I will be notified if you reply to this topic and will respond within 48 hours.

While waiting for a reply, I have these 4 suggestions:
1. Get ALL available Windows Updates. It may take several trips to get them all
2. Get ALL available, Win8.1 compatible updates from the manufacturer's website.
3. Start with these free hardware diagnostics: Hardware Diagnostics
4. If all of the hardware tests pass, then run Driver Verifier according to these instructions: Driver Verifier Settings

FYI - the WHEA error is most often a hardware problem - so the hardware diagnostics are very important.

I just bought new notebook yesterday, Acer Aspire E11 - ES1-111-CU54.. Win 8.1 x64..
I've updated the BIOS (1.08 to 1.10) but still no change.
I also tried to install the 63 important updates from Windows, but everytime I did, it crashed.. Blue Screen appeared "WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR".
It always crashed when I moved files from flashdisk, updated drive & windows (it's always failed).
I don't know what I should do next..
Thanks for helping me..

A:New Acer ES1-511 WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR

If it's returnable, go ahead and return it for a new one.
The STOP 0x124 error (WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR) is most often a hardware problem.
I did note that the system had a BSOD on 16 October 2014 - which is presumably before you got it.
And, all of the errors (20 of them) are STOP 0x124 errors.
FWIW - my concern is that the analysis will take more time than you have to return it.

If you have a few days, you may want to restore/reset the system to factory default and see if that helps.

Here's my analysis:

Only 21 Windows Updates installed. Most systems have 100 or more. Please visit Windows Update and get ALL available updates (it may take several trips to get them all).

Don't worry about the specific number, it's just important that you have checked and installed any updates that were available (and didn't experience any errors).

There is no mention of an external USB networking device in the systeminfo report - but there is a driver for one present in the memory dump (Product Type HUAWEI Mobile Connect - 3G Network Card). These devices have known issues with Win8 and 8.1 Be sure, if there is one, that it's got the latest, Win8.1 compatible drivers.

Edited for proper format!
Hi, I recently moved my computer from one house to another and with now hardware/software changes I've been getting BSOD everyday since I set it up and running at the new house. I hadn't changed anything. I also checked to make sure everything was seated properly after the move. The BSODs seem random and I'll go for hours with no problems, then have a couple of hours of non stop restarts. Below is the latest crashes. I've tried multiple video card drivers. Also, attached is the latest dump file, its the only one I have at the moment as I've just updated to 8.1 to see if that works, and it didn't. If anyone can help I'll be very grateful. Thank you!

Hi Guys, experienced this error frequently on reboots so put everything at default. The only things that have changed recently were:

Windows updates:- 2 x Windows defender updates; malicious software removal tool;Downloaded a couple of games off Steam, OriginThe games may have installed dx or .net

Not really experienced on screen dumps and log files so help appreciated. Scanned for malware and used online checker, coming back clean.

Hello!

For the past couple months, I have been getting random blue screens, error being whea_uncorrectable_error. Various google searches yield no results because apparently this error is a general error that gets displayed.

The blue screen seems to occur randomly. For the occurrence today, I was just playing a youtube video. Some other times, I would be playing a game, or some others I would be doing nothing at all.

Anyway, my information is below. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi,

Your link is bad. It looks like it's trying to display the crash dump contents on the webpage, which would explain why it's garbage.

Upload the crash dumps directly here.

Before we start blaming the CPU on this, first you should go to the Ultrabook website and download and update both your BIOS and any and all drivers for your motherboard. Typically they show up as chipset or CPU drivers. If none ... Read more

Hello I have a problem with my PC getting the WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR bsod. It is a few months old pc. I am not overclocking or changing anything in bios, but sometimes (this is my third time) I get this bsod out of nowhere. This last time I was just watching some stream on twitch when the pc suddenly crashed.
I have everything up to date in windows update and every other driver as well. Everything in Open hardware Monitor seems ok. Right now as of 10 min after the crash, the CPU temp is at 38?C, fans are at 1400RPM
I am using Windows 8.1 Pro 64b. Here are my spec:
Intel i5-4570 CPU @ 3.20GHz, Kingston HyperX 8GB DDR3 1600 XMP, GeForce GTX 660 with 340.52 drivers, Corsair VS450 power supply, Gigabyte GA-H87-HD3
Can anybody tell me what is wrong?

Start with these free hardware diagnostics: Hardware Diagnostics
Let us know the results and we'll move on from there.

Seagate Backup drive has less than 2% free space. Please either disconnect it while we're testing - or free up at least 10% (15% is best) free space on it.

MSI Afterburner and Riva Tuner (along with EVGA Precision) are known to cause BSOD's in some Windows systems (it's driver is usually RTCore64.sys). Please un-install them immediately!

If you're overclocking, please stop the overclock while we're troubleshooting. Feel free to resume the overclock once the system has been stabilized.

Please update these older drivers. Links are included to assist in looking up the source of the drivers. If unable to find an update, please remove (un-install) the program responsible for that driver. DO NOT manually delete/rename the driver as it may make the system unbootable! :

Please uninstall the program responsible for this driver:

A:Occasional WHEA_Uncorrectable_Error

You've got a bad CPU.

A consistent generic level 2 cache error on the 7th memory bank.

Code:
Error : GCACHEL2_ERR_ERR (Proc 0 Bank 7)
Status : 0xbe2000000005110a
Address : 0x00000002f7e63240
Misc. : 0x000001d082000086
There are only so many things to suggest before your CPU needs replacing.
Monitor your temperatures when idle and when performing a certain task that crashes the system (if there is one), reapply the thermal paste to the CPU if it's overheating.
Clear the CMOS to remove any improper settings and overclocks How To Clear CMOS (Reset BIOS) [Easy, 10 to 15 Min]
Remove any bloatware such as AI suite which can cause these errors.
If all the above fails then I recommend you replace the CPU as it's most likely the cause, you could try testing it with another one to see if it continues.

Hello,
I've had problems with my PC for a while. Used Windows 7 before, it oftenly crashed(especially while playing games). I used to get 0x124 BSOD.

I thought it there might be a problem with cooling. My case was broken and one side couldn't be fully closed. I bought a new case, dusted away as much as I could with compressed air.

Today I installed 8.1 and soon enough started getting this BSOD:
WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR (124)

I'm a newbie in this thing, I've added two reports.

The txt file is from WinDbg tools, the zip file is from SF Debug Tool created by John.

Please help me out, thank you.

EDIT:
I remembered that I took several photos while my PC was starting (still on Windows 7). It SOMETIMES looked that way, but not all the time. Uploading photos.

A:Bsod whea_uncorrectable_error (124)

I have been getting the BCC 124 blue screens and WHEA errors on my system, both Win 7 and Win 8 (I have a dual boot with separate SSD's for each OS).

On my system, it appears to be a CPU problem (i7 3770), as I've replaced memory (no help), replaced the motherboard (no help), replaced the power supply (no help). Ran Win 7 with only the Win 7 SSD connected (no help) and ran Win 8 with only the Win 8 SSD connected (no help). The only thing left that has not been changed is the CPU and I'm still getting them, so I assume the CPU is the problem.

I've ran the Intel CPU diagnostics and it passes. CPU temperature is not a problem, the cores idle around 30 C and rarely go much over 40 C.

I've ordered a replacement CPU

My fairly new computer running windows 10 just keeps crashing. Usually at least once a day. The reported error is usually the WHEA error. I have looked at the minidump but it might as well be in chinese. XP was so reliable, this is not a step forward thankyou Microsoft.

Can anyone have a look at the information and decipher what the problem is. I would be most grateful.

regards,

Hey all,
my friend got a new notebook "Acer ES1-711" and installed windows 10 right after he got it. Since then he gets multiple BSODS per day. It occures at random times it seems.
For me it looks like the cpu is the problem, but i can't find a solution for it. Maybe you can help us.

Best regards, Patrick.

A:whea_uncorrectable_error since Windows 10

It seems it is a persistent crash, a generic error on the level 2 cache of the CPU is the problem everytime. This usually indicates a CPU/BIOS problem.
I would suggest to update the BIOS to the newest version from Acer which is 1.08, the current version is 1.05

Hello everyone.

As stated in the title I am experiencing BSOD with the message "WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR". The computer usually loads up to 100% and then restarts, but not always. Sometimes I will have to manually restart the computer.

System Specs:
i7-4790K
Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO
ASRock Z97M Pro4
Kingston HyperX Fury 8GB
Samsung 850 EVO - 250GB
WD Caviar Blue - 1TB
Sapphire R9 390X
EVGA SuperNOVA NEX 750W 80+ - Gold certified, fully-modular
CD-DVD ROM - HL-DT-ST DVD+-RW GSA-H31N SCSI CdRom Device

My computer crashes randomly when I'm working on Word, browsing the Web, or when gaming (although this may be a separate issue). I will add any more information necessary. The crashes between every 1 to 2 days.

Thanks for your time.

Hi, since like 3 days, I'm starting to get random BSOD. So far, they only happen when I'm playing World of Warcraft, but at the same time they started since I installed Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 and Steam. I dont know if this is useful or not..

Anyway, my minidump says its an hardware problem.. I can't figure out what it could be. I'm not overclocking and my system is well ventilated.

My video card is new, my ram looks OK with Memtest+ V4.0.

I'm posting all my minidump if someone could help me. That would be nice.

Thanks

A:Bsod whea_uncorrectable_error (124)

Hey.

You can read about the error here.

If you're overclocking, please post a new dump should one happen after you set default rates.

You could also test without Readyboost to see if that helps alleviate the bsod.

For the past month I have been trying to diagonose the WHEA UNCORRECTABLE ERROR BSOD The issue started occurring after I upgraded to Windows build I had updates disabled for a while and I believe that it is some kind of Whea_uncorrectable_error Bsod: chipset driver and hardware issue Installing a fresh copy of Win build results in a BSOD and installing Win and running offline without updates works without any BSOD I have followed the steps to isolate the hardware by - running Memtest and using each stick of RAM individually - checking my SSDS and HDDs by checking SMART statuses - GPU by booting without it I am not overclocking and I have reset and updated the BIOS multiple times now I also checked my temperatures of computer and everything is under degrees Celius under load The BSOD still persists but setting my power options to 'High Performance' does not result in Bsod: Whea_uncorrectable_error a BSOD My computer currently runs at max frequency all the time and I suspect that Bsod: Whea_uncorrectable_error it is either the power supply or the motherboard All my parts are under Bsod: Whea_uncorrectable_error warranty and I can send it to the manufacturer for repair However I am trying to avoid much downtime as possible and any help would be appreciated it

Your .dmp file shows a stop error of 0x124 which is a general hardware error .. Stop 0x124 - what it means and what to try Stop 0x124 - what it means and what to try

Also please update the old drivers
How To Find Drivers:

Quote:
- search Google for the name of the driver
- compare the Google results with what's installed on your system to figure out which device/program it belongs to
- visit the web site of the manufacturer of the hardware/program to get the latest drivers (DON'T use Windows Update or the Update driver function of Device Manager).
- if there are difficulties in locating them, post back with questions and someone will try and help you locate the appropriate program.

- - The most common drivers are listed on this page: Driver Reference
- - Driver manufacturer links are on this page: http://www.carrona.org/drvrdown.html

Alright Ive had a good run of bad luck with bsod recently this one though has been pretty bad im averaging crashes in days with being within min of each other when the bsod shows up I get the WHEA UNCORRECTABLE ERROR So I did do a little Bsod whea_uncorrectable_error digging and saw it was related to hardware problems more specific the cpu With that being said I dont know if my cpu is fried or if its something as simple as a driver problem Attached is the bsod reports and yes I know daemon tools is installed I have not used it in years back in windows And it has never caused a problem with my computer before So Any help would be appreciated Its getting a bit annoying especially when I am playing games As a note I do run three monitors and I know Nvidia has had a couple issues with multi monitors But I did disable of them just to see if it was the cause

A:Bsod whea_uncorrectable_error

About Daemon tools, it sometimes let the system think there is a hardware error, the same is for software that is provided by the mainboard manufacturer. For this reason I would recommend to remove both ASUS & Daemon tools software.

So I did do a little digging and saw it was related to hardware problems more specific the cpu..

That is correct, but the most frequent occuring type of this crash is the MCE (Machine_Check_Exception) which shows a processor type error. This basically means that the CPU is the component that is reporting the crash, this means that it is possible that the CPU is the cause but that usually can't be said with certainty unless some troubleshooting has been done.

Lets take a look at the dumps, there is an evict crash, read crash and write crash, this may point to hardware problems and sometimes to the CPU but when looking at the frequency of the crashes it doesn't look like a hardware problem. With hardware problems the frequency of crashes should be a lot more.
My suggestion is for now the same, remove Daemon tools and ASUS software and let me know how it goes.

Hello,

I've been getting a random WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR BSOD, sometimes while idle other times while gaming or just browsing reddit. I ran SF diagnostic tool and attached the file to this post.

Thanks for your help.

A:Random BSOD, WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR

0x124 hardware stop.

Update bios, set it Optimized Defaults then save, check all fans and all temperatures, make sure fans are working well and not obstructed.

Sppedfan and GPU-Z will help you out.

Update from ASUS, Downloads/Utilities section, even if must look to Win7:

AsIO AsIO.sys Wed Aug 22 05:54:47 2012 (5034AC67)
AsUpIO AsUpIO.sys Mon Aug 02 22:47:59 2010 (4C57835F)

Update J-Micron driver:

jraid jraid.sys Tue Aug 10 05:28:44 2010 (4C611BCC)

ftp://driver.jmicron.com.tw/SATA_Con...17.65_WHQL.zip

And this might actually be the main problem. Update.

Driver Reference Table - mv91xx.sys

Code:
mv91xx mv91xx.sys Fri Aug 27 05:49:22 2010
mvxxmm mvxxmm.sys Fri Aug 27 05:49:03 2010

Delete this driver:

Code:
2: kd> lmvm tap0901
start end module name
fffff800`00e17000 fffff800`00e24000 tap0901 (deferred)

ImageSize: 0000D000
Translations: 0000.04b0 0000.04e4 0409.04b0 0409.04e4

Then delete its subkey in Regedit, found somewhere at this location:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services

Reboot.

i have also had a bluescreen when playing metro 2033, when a massive explosion went off and wood flew everywhere. This has started ever since i took my ati 5770 out and upgraded to a Ati 7950.

Hello,
I've been encountering random BSODs since i build my computer this summer and installed windows 8.
I ran a SF diagnostic tool, I attached the results.

Thank you very much for your time. I don't know where else to go.

A:Random BSODs - WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR

Yup, I see that. 0x124 hardware stops.

I would make sure that you put the heatsink on well for the Intel CPU, with a thin layer of Artic Silver or similar.

If you're overclocking anything at all, set default speeds. Update motherboard bios to newest. Check to make sure the RAM you are using is compatible. Remove all non-essential peripherals and cards, to test.

Make sure there is sufficient cooling (enough fans) in the case. You can test the machine with the cover off and room fan blowing on the inside of it to see if that helps, as a test, to determine if heat is an issue or not.

We can also look at the memory. Please attach a screenshot of CPU-Z 1st tab, one of Memory tab and one each for each stick of RAM of the SPD tab.

For some months ago I bought a Samsung series NP X D and I've been BSOD: whea_uncorrectable_error Recurring having some problems with it from the start I'm not currently residing in the country where I bought it so there's problems with the warranty - also I need it for school so sending it in is not an option yet I keep getting BSODs that Recurring BSOD: whea_uncorrectable_error say WHEA UNCORRECTABLE ERROR - perhaps two times a month It seems to happen pretty random the last one happened a half hour ago when I was watching a clip on youtube I also keep having problems with it if I stream HD-content - my trackpad gets all jittery and randomly jumps several inches on the screen it is as if someone is simultaneously using my trackpad And the audio starts to quot skip quot as well But I can watch HD-movies if they're stored on my drive without problems Maybe this is somehow related to the BSOD This did not happen on my old Lenovo laptop which was considerably slower and a lot cheaper I thank you in advance and I hope that there are some kind and helping people out there Best regards Miguel Olsen Rodrigues

Hi,

0x124 stops, which is hardware fault, but drivers can cause too in some instances. Let's start there.

Uninstall AVG then use removal tool for it. Set Windows Firewall and Windows Defender to Automatic and start them too.

Uninstall HWiNFO simply because it has an unnecessary driver that we do not need on the machine at the moment.

Uninstall Eldos or similar: Driver Reference Table - cbfs3.sys

Sorry for the delay in responding.
Do you still need help with this issue?

No memory dumps in the uploaded reports,
Please do this:

Upload Dump Files:
NOTE: If using a disk cleaning utility, please stop using it while we are troubleshooting your issues.
Please go to C:\Windows\Minidump and zip up the contents of the folder. Then upload/attach the .zip file with your next post.
Left click on the first minidump file.
Hold down the "Shift" key and left click on the last minidump file.
Right click on the blue highlighted area and select "Send to"
Select "Compressed (zipped) folder" and note where the folder is saved.
Upload that .zip file with your next post.

If you have issues with "Access Denied" errors, try copying the files to your desktop and zipping them up from there. If it still won't let you zip them up, post back for further advice.

If you don't have anything in that folder, please check in C:\Windows for a file named MEMORY.DMP. If you find it, zip it up and upload it to a free file hosting service. Then post the link to it in your topic so that we can download it.

Also, search your entire hard drive for files ending in .dmp, .mdmp, and .hdmp. Zip up any that you find and upload them with your next post.

Then, follow the directions here to set your system for Minidumps (much smaller than the MEMORY.DMP file): Set MiniDumpMore info on dump file options here: Overview of memory dump file options for Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows Server 2003, Windows Vista, Windows Server 2008, Windows 7, and Windows Server 2008 R2

A:can't do a clean install, whea_uncorrectable_error??

Looking at it logically, a clean install now should erase all traces of any previous devices because you will format the hard disk. Therefore the motherboard must have been affected in a way that only Windows 10 can detect. I wonder if there is a BIOS update that you can apply that is specifically for W10?

Update you Nvidia driver. I suspect this to be a HW issue, please start HW diagnostics. Hardware Diagnostics Follow my instructions to the letter. If you are uncertain about what to do next, stop and ask.
While looking at your files, I noticed that Killer e2200 Gigabit Ethernet Controller was disabled. Is that on purpose? If so, why?
Please monitor your PC temperatures, and post a SS with them.

Good evening!

I build a new computer a bit less than a week ago. Everything runs fine, as it should, heat doesn't go over 50?C on the CPU and didn't reach 50?C on the video card yet. Overall this all seems fine.
But, occassionally, there are blue screens. There have been 4 or 5 so far over the past week. Today there were 2 within 5 minutes, after 3 days without.
According the bluescreenviewer it is having problems with the hal.dll, the BSOD itself only tells me that there is an uncorrectable error (so negative!) without further information. I am running Windows 8.1 Pro (I guess).

A:BSOD WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR hal.dll+37213

Inconsiderate BSOD! Hmmph!
Seriously, the hal.dll issue and the uncorrectable errors are symptoms of a STOP 0x124 BSOD error code.
This error is most often related to hardware, but can also be due to low-level driver issues or incompatibilities with software/drivers in the system.

So, here's how we get started......

Only 46 Windows Updates installed. Most systems have 70 to 90 or more. Please visit Windows Update and get ALL available updates (it may take several trips to get them all).

Don't worry about the specific number, it's just important that you have checked and installed any updates that were available (and didn't experience any errors).

Ensure that you have the latest firmware for your Crucial SSD

The drivers for this device aren't installed:

SM-Bus-Controller PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_8CA2&SUBSYS_50011458&REV_00\3&11583659&0&FB Die Treiber f?r dieses Ger?t wurden nicht installiert.

This is most likely a component of your chipset drivers. Please visit the Gigabyte website for your model and download/install the latest, Win8.1 compatible chipset drivers.

The drivers for your Razer Death Adder (danew.sys and VKbms.sys) date from 2010 and they aren't compatible w/Win8.1 (and they are known to cause BSOD's). Please uninstall them and see if that helps. You should still be able to use the mouse without the Razer drivers installed.
Once we have the system stabilized, feel free to visit the Razer website and download/install the latest, Win8.1 compatible drivers available for your device.

Check to see if these programs/drivers are compatible w/Win8.1 (from the manufacturer's website):
NetGroup Packet Filter Driver, part of the WinPcap packet capture library (npf.sys)
C-Media USB Audio Driver WDM (PLTGC.sys)
Realtek PCI/PCIe Network Adapters (Rt630x64.sys)
If they're not compatible, or if you're not sure - update them to the latest version that you know is compatible w/Win8.1

Beyond this, I have these 3 suggestions:
1. Get ALL available Windows Updates. It may take several trips to get them all
2. Start with these free hardware diagnostics: Hardware Diagnostics
3. If all of the hardware tests pass, then run Driver Verifier according to these instructions: Driver Verifier Settings

Basically I just have built my first gaming comp and I've ran into some issues, because I've had TONS of issues fixed maybe one or 2 bluescreens out of like 5 and I just cant solve it and I think it has to do with drivers it happens common when I play like world of warcraft, listen to music, talk on skype, alt tab out of a game. Anyways if you guys could maybe solve this I'd love you forever <3

-I did run memtest it was mixed results

A:Bsod irl_not_less_or_equal/whea_uncorrectable_error

18 of 28 crashes are memory exceptions, with a few hardware thrown in (perhaps ram)

These crashes were caused by memory corruption/exception (Cx05) probably a driver.
Please run these two tests to verify your memory and find which driver is causing the problem.

* If you are overclocking anything reset to default before running these tests.
In other words STOP!!!

* If you have raid update its Driver.

Memtest.

Quote:
*Download a copy of Memtest86 and burn the ISO to a CD using Iso Recorder or another ISO burning program. Memtest86+ - Advanced Memory Diagnostic Tool

*Boot from the CD, and leave it running for at least 5-7 passes.

Just remember, any time Memtest reports errors, it can be either bad RAM or a bad motherboard slot.

Test the sticks individually, and if you find a good one, test it in all slots.

Any errors are indicative of a memory problem.

If a known good stick fails in a motherboard slot it is probably the slot.

RAM - Test with Memtest86+

Driver verifier

Quote:
Using Driver Verifier is an iffy proposition. Most times it'll crash and it'll tell you what the driver is. But sometimes it'll crash and won't tell you the driver. Other times it'll crash before you can log in to Windows. If you can't get to Safe Mode, then you'll have to resort to offline editing of the registry to disable Driver Verifier.

So, I'd suggest that you first backup your stuff and then make sure you've got access to another computer so you can contact us if problems arise. Then make a System Restore point (so you can restore the system using the Vista/Win7 Startup Repair feature).

Then, here's the procedure:
- Go to Start and type in "verifier" (without the quotes) and press Enter
- Select "Create custom settings (for code developers)" and click "Next"
- Select "Select individual settings from a full list" and click "Next"
- Select everything EXCEPT FOR "Special Pool", "Force Pending I/O Requests" and "Low Resource Simulation" and click "Next"
- Select "Select driver names from a list" and click "Next"
Then select all drivers NOT provided by Microsoft and click "Next"
- Select "Finish" on the next page.

Reboot the system and wait for it to crash to the Blue Screen.
Continue to use your system normally, and if you know what causes the crash, do that repeatedly.
The objective here is to get the system to crash because Driver Verifier is stressing the drivers out.
If it doesn't crash for you, then let it run for at least 36 hours of continuous operation.

Reboot into Windows (after the crash) and turn off Driver Verifier by going back in and selecting "Delete existing settings" on the first page, then locate and zip up the memory dump file and upload it with your next post.

If you can't get into Windows because it crashes too soon, try it in Safe Mode.
If you can't get into Safe Mode, try using System Restore from your installation DVD to set the system back to the previous restore point that you created.

Greetings, my first post here is of course an error post, I don't often have much free time for discussion boards anymore, but random babble out of the way and onto the point.

I got the BSOD WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR, this is the 2nd time in 3 weeks, not sure of the cause, first time it was just playing an old game and today it happened, it was watching a video and playing a game.

File is attached, I will try to answer any questions

I'm at a point where I can't figure out anymore My new build is giving me BSODs usually while Evt. 41 BSOD Gaming,WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR randomly but usually only while tasking my PC while running games like WoW Running WhoCrashed I'm seeing a recurring theme of BugCheck code x Parameter x Parameter Varies Parameter xBF Parameter x and BSOD usually while Gaming,WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR Evt. 41 probably caused by hal dll Now this is a new Corsair RM w PSU k i Asus Maximus VII Hero Sapphire R x Intel SSD and Win Student Pro Full I've updated my drivers I've had this persist through Bios revisions and metered wall power to check for variations Nothing changes As I only have a small window to return faulty hardware I'd like to get this figured out ASAP I ran both tools required on the forums and I'll upload the logs Thank you in advance for your help One thing I'll mention that may help I initially installed Win on a backup drive booted to it copied my files off of my SSD and then reformatted and installed Windows from boot on the SSD However when I installed Windows on my SSD I didn't remove my backup drive from the system It left the bootloader and system partiton on the backup drive Even though it would boot to my SSD if I removed the backup drive I got the old hal dll missing or corrupted errors Using a partition program I copied the system partition from the backup drive to the SSD and it has worked without the backup drive installed I'm not sure if moving this partition caused the problems if I need to install windows fresh and have it make a new system partition from disk if it can be repaired or if it's even the issue I simply thought I should make it known in the interest of disclosure Thanks

A:BSOD usually while Gaming,WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR Evt. 41

In you are doing ANY over-clocking stop all until the issues are resolved.

BCCode: 124 0x00000124

This is usually heat related, defective hardware, memory or even processor though it is
"possible" that it is driver related (rare). Remove ALL power and reseat all cards, memory
and cables (on both ends) - actually remove and replace - do not just snug. Make sure
the system has adequate ventilation - add a small fan blowing into intakes. Carefully
inspect the motherboard and other cards for damage. Pay attention to the fatal hardware
error implication. You may need a real computer shop.

Check the processor seatting, heat sink, and the compound between the processor and
the heat sink which are common causes.

There have been a few instances where Norton/Symantec and other antivirus/security
programs have caused this error.

BCCode: 124 0x00000124

The WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR bug check has a value of 0x00000124. This bug
check indicates that a fatal hardware error has occurred. This bug check uses the error
data that is provided by the Windows Hardware Error Architecture (WHEA).

If I were to take a guess, the processor (particularly the cache) might be bad. However, I would wait for someone else to determine what the problem is before doing anything.

Hi,

I've been getting BSODs on this machine since new. Replaced HDD and done various factory resets over last year. Seems related to display adapters but not sure. BSODs are more frequent since using multiple monitor setup with port replicator.

Thanks!

Nick
