BSOD when resizing/closing World of Warcraft, also when closing Chrome

Q: BSOD when resizing/closing World of Warcraft, also when closing Chrome

Hello everyone I'm having the issue noted above BSODs attribute the crash to either one of two files cdd dll most commonly and win k sys only once Screen turns jagged goes black and then BSOD but only when closing of Warcraft, World Chrome BSOD resizing/closing also when occasionally I've had this crashes happen to me only times in a whole week already World of BSOD when resizing/closing World of Warcraft, also when closing Chrome Warcraft crashes were all succesive BSOD when resizing/closing World of Warcraft, also when closing Chrome but after updating Catalyst drivers it never happened again PC was crash-free for or days thought it may have solved the issue and I could stop worrying about faulty hardware components but yesterday night closing Chrome it happened again I turned off Aero desktop after that just in case The problem is I can't find any Memory dump or minidump for those BSODs even though settings are on for that maybe MEMORY DMP is too large I have free Gb out of on my boot drive I changed it to minidumps just in case Oh also it was already set to overwrite so no idea what's going on Could not find them manually nor could SF Diagnostics tools which I just ran My rig is new only about months old and no hardware changes since The only components coming from my older PC are the boot HDD and graphics card The only thing that's happened is or power outages in December but BSODs started only last week If any hardware components are malfunctioning they are luckily under warranty but I need to determine if that's the case Only other strange thing is that when gathering my rig's data for this post Everest shows my Motherboard as quot Unknown quot I'll double check I installed all drivers Thanks in advance btw great tool that SF Diagnostics I'm no computer wizard but it's quite useful even for an amateur like me

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi Haxiel.

The zip you uploaded does not contain any crash dump.

Follow it: Dump Files - Configure Windows to Create on BSOD
Go to Option Two, Point 2. Download the .reg file and merge it in registry by double clicking it.

Now wait for another BSOD. When it occurred, search the .dmp files manually in the default path: C:\Windows\Minidump or %SystemRoot%\Minidump. See if the crash dump is recorded or not (hopefully it will be recorded).Post it following the Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) Posting Instructions.

Dont run any disc cleanup tool before you upload another zip.

Hey,

I've been getting BSOD from playing WoW, using Google Chrome, and general use of the computer randomly.
This started happening around 3 days ago, I just formatted it today to no avail - it's still happening.

Chrome tabs are also constantly going "Aw, Snap!".

I thought it was a memory issue but when I ran the Windows Memory Diagnostic, nothing came up.

The graphics driver is also constantly failing before the format.

I've also attached the CBS log from sfc /scannow.

Please help.
Thank you in advance!

Hello,

I keep getting different BSOD randomly while using my new PC. Sometimes while gaming (WoW, Overwatch) and sometimes while just during regular use.

I've run memtest and system scans and everything I've tried has come back negative. I read that it might be related to my webcam (Logitech 1080p). I also looked into some Nvidia services to no avail.

I've attached my log collector file.

Thanks!

Hi,

It's my first post, sry if I'm doing anything wrong.

I really need help here, everytime I close Chrome (almost every time, mostly when I have multiple tabs open) I get a Bluescreen of death. I made a screenshot with Bluescreenview to show you guys what it says:

Hope you can see the picture.
The weird thing is this never used to happen, while my PC is fairly old, it used to work perfectly fine, I used to be able to play Skyrim, alt tab, close Chrome with 20 tabs open, alt tab again, continue to play Skyrim etc...
here some basic data: Win Vista Premium, AMD Athlon II X2 Prozessor, 4 GB RAM, Nvidia Geforce 9400 GT.

Can anyone help me? I'm a noob with Computers so bear with me please.
I've downloaded memtest86 and I run it for 5 hours and had 0 errors. Sry for any mistakes by the way, English isn't my native language.
Thanks in advance!

You guys helped me once about eight BSOD after Google closing Chrome months ago with a BSOD - which ended up being a webcam driver of all things sheesh Well I just got another - this time I was closing Chrome totally normally but BSOD after closing Google Chrome when it closed it gave me a popup that said 'Google Chrome has crashed ' Commence bluescreen and heart palpitations I let the computer cool down for a few minutes took the side off to watch the little light on the MoBo to make sure it wasn't dead or anything and to watch all the parts to make sure it wasn't a hardware issue PSU CPU GPU and felt the HDDs for spin-up as I recently had a HDD suffer mechanical failure so now I'm paranoid and everything eventually turned back on It did take a little longer than I think it should but I'm due for a format soon so that's no big shocker Any help at all would be greatly appreciated as I really hate that BSOD

Obvious to anyone. You have three malware apps running live at the same time. You have Avast, Kaspersky, and AVG.

You need to remove them all and install Microsoft Security Essentials AT LEAST TO TEST.

If you continue to crash even after removing them upload the DMP file as you have old drivers that need updating.

It happens when i close them which is weird my first hunch is that since i recently upgraded my comp a new hdd and new ram maybe its the cause but maybe its not anyway heres the dm log

btw the first 2nd bsod was the moment when i closed csgo then the 3rd which happened yesterday happened when i was shutting down my pc then chrome exited then bsod

edit: Got another bsod when i launched dota 2

Edit2: managed to install sp 1 now

Hi There,

I'm not getting any specific drivers jumping out at me,

The bugcheck 50 is usually a Memory issue, did you run Memtest86+ for 8 passes?

   Information
MemTest86+

Run a minimum of 8 passes, preferably overnight, or until errors occur using MemTest86+.

Use this tutorial to help you use MemTest86+:
RAM - Test with MemTest86+

I did notice you don't have SP1 installed,

Code:
Host Name: MITCHELL-PC
OS Name: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium
OS Version: 6.1.7600 N/A Build 7600
OS Manufacturer: Microsoft Corporation
OS Configuration: Standalone Workstation
OS Build Type: Multiprocessor Free
You should install SP1 and the other 50+ updates you are missing.

We can follow up after you get fully updated.

I'm running Windows 8.1 on an HP EliteOne 800 TouchScreen Computer. I've currently got the system configured to automatically login to a particular user account and run IE in Kiosk Mode and I also have the On-Screen Keyboard docked at the bottom of the screen. I was able to prevent users from closing the keyboard with a little utility I found called "NoClose" but users can still minimize the keyboard or drag it around the screen. I want it to be locked in place so that no user will be able to close it, minimize it or move it around. Any thoughts on how I might accomplish this?

Thanks in advance!

A:Slow browser, IE closing, Outlook and Yahoo closing

Hi Elise,
thank you. I ended up getting rid of PC Tools Internet Security and switching to AVG Basic Free. I think most of the major problems went away.
Yahoo has stayed up, Outlook has stayed up, browser seems to work quickly, facebook didn't have floating text and pictures anymore, was able to do some posting, sent some large emails. But, and not exactly sure, IE has frozen up, but not as often. The dds program you had me run this morning froze and I had to do a hard shut off, task mgr didn't respond and the weirdest thing of all, the clock stopped. Can't say I have ever seen that. So I am not sure what exactly is going on, if it really is malware or some setting is messed up. I wasn't able to run video on a site last night. Major improvement since I got rid of PC tools, but not quite right. Sorry, nontechie.

I built this machine a few months ago and it has been BSODing a lot. I've worked through a number of them and updated driver here and there, but now I'm getting pfn list corrupt and others I've seen before, when closing Chrome. Sadly the last 2 BSOD weren't captured, but I'm betting there is enough info in the old ones to get me somewhere. I will upload more minidumps as they happen.

Windows 7 Ultimate x64
OEM Disc non OEM machine
Hardware is for the most part about 7 months old
Haven't reinstalled yet

A:BSODs when closing Chrome

Running the last 10 memory dumps......

The device driver(s) for BlackArmor NAS 1D haven't been installed. Please install them.

We've seen a number of BSOD issues with SSD's. Here's the information that I've compiled so far:

Quote:
There's not a whole bunch available to test SSD's. The "easiest" test is to remove the SSD, install a platter-based hard drive, install Windows and test for stability that way.

Here's some suggestions:
- Update the SSD's firmware to the latest available version (VERY IMPORTANT!!!)
- Update the motherboard controllers drivers to the latest available version from the controller manufacturer (NOT the mobo manufacturer unless you can't find any on the controller manufacturer's website)
- Slow the memory (RAM) down to the next slower speed (I've only seen one person who claimed that this worked for them).
- Use any manufacturer's utilities that you may have. If you don't have any, then try this free one (I haven't used it myself): Crystal Dew World
- Update chipset and storage controller drivers to the latest available from the manufacturer of the device (not the manufacturer of the motherboard). Be sure to update ALL controllers on the motherboard!
....NOTE: Recently (Nov 2011) we had BSOD issues with the Marvell 91xx controller and an SSD. You may have to switch controllers also.
- Replace the SSD with a platter based hard drive and see if that stops the BSOD's. If it does, then it's likely that there's a problem with the SSD OR an incompatibility with your system.
It's my opinion that SSD's aren't reliable enough (with current hardware) to be used on a system that needs to work reliably. Until I see reliability I will not recommend, nor will I use, SSD's for critical applications.
06 Dec 2011 - This post tends to confirm issues with certain SSD chipsets and certain controllers - [SOLVED] cant find the cause of BSOD F4 - Tech Support Forum
29 May 2012 - The frequency of BSOD's with SSD's seems to have been decreasing over the last several months. It may be approaching time to re-evaluate my stand on their suitability for use in production systems.

The WER section of MSINFO32 shows BSOD's blaming your Norton/Symantec protection. Please do the following:

Quote:
Anti-Virus Removal:
Please do the following:
- download a free antivirus for testing purposes: Free AntiVirus
- uninstall the Norton from your system (you can reinstall it, if so desired, when we're done troubleshooting)
- remove any remnants of Norton using this free tool: http://us.norton.com/support/kb/web_...080710133834EN
- IMMEDIATELY install and update the free antivirus, then check to ensure that the Windows Firewall is turned on.
- check to see if this fixes the BSOD's
NOTE: NEVER run more than 1 anti-virus, firewall, Internet Security/Security Center application at the same time.

Daemon Tools (and Alcohol % software) are known to cause BSOD's on some Win7 systems (mostly due to the sptd.sys driver, although I have seen dtsoftbus01.sys blamed on several occasions).
Please uninstall the program, then use the following free tool to ensure that the troublesome sptd.sys driver is removed from your system (pick the 32 or 64 bit system depending on your system's configuration): DuplexSecure - FAQ

LogMeIn remote drivers date from 2007. Please uninstall

100 mHz overclock present. While not much, it's beyond the system's stock specs. Please remove it while we're troubleshooting.

If the above steps don't stop the BSOD's, please zip up and upload any new memory dumps with your next post - and we'll see what we can figure out from there.

The following info is just FYI, I've already addressed the issues that I saw in the above paragraphs

Hey, it's been a long while since I last posted.

But anyways I'm having a problem with my 64bit windows 7 laptop where after I close Google Chrome with the red X I can't reopen it. When I click on the chrome shortcut it acts like it's loading but in the end it doesn't no matter how many times I click it. And to make it worse, the computer doesn't shut down even after approx. 5 minutes, so I have to force shut down by holding down the power button.

Also, when I look in task manager there is still 1 'chrome.exe' process which is impossible for me to close.

Oh, and it's worth to note that this problem doesn't happen every time I close chrome, but still quite often.

Any help will be appreciated, thanks a lot.

If you need any more information, just ask.

Thanks.

A:chrome not closing properly

Does this happen IE as well?

Did you try to reinstall Chrome?

Have you tried running SFC /scannow?

Hello there,

Currently running W7 64-bit on a desktop and I've been encountering said problems after DL'ing a particularly "iffy" music-related file (which I haven't opened and deleted immediately).
Been using the ones below before the incident:
- Malwbytes Free/Trial
- Spybot (the one with the old interface)
- Eset Online Scanner

Could anyone guide me to a solution where I won't have to reinstall Windows?
Thanks in advance!

Hey it's my first forum post here and I have a problem with my computer running Windows -Bit It started around ish AM this morning when my chrome all of sudden started to crash When I tried to reopen it I got an access denied notification and when I navigated to the directory the chrome exe was broken Then for some reason a new chrome exe appeared so I ran that and it worked So in an attempt to fix it then Chrome itself, First started closing "nt32.exe" with I tried to delete the old chrome exe and it said I didn't have permissions I am using the only administrator user on my laptop I changed the permissions again but when I tried to delete it I was notified that it was open in nt exe Naturally I went to the Task Manager and tried to end the process but got an access denied Things I've tried gt Ran MSE was told the service application First started with Chrome closing itself, then "nt32.exe" was stopped but cannot rerun it When trying to scan I have to click Start now and get an error code with a denial of access gt System restore System restore won't open AT ALL not even in safe mode gt Tried to download MBAM and run it The malware prevented me from downloading it in the first place gt Download MBAM on a USB and run it It didn't open like system restore error gt Just tried to download DDS same error as trying to download MBAM What do I do

A:First started with Chrome closing itself, then "nt32.exe"

Hello and Welcome -
A nice way to start off. This is a Trojan infection that can increase as time goes on.

Normally a first tool is Malwarebytes, but since you have problems try MBAM Chameleon  for infected systems.
Please follow this MBAM Chameleon Link and the directions should be on the page.

This will usually work when all other methods fail.

Post back and Copy and Paste a log if one is produced.

Otherwise we have more methods to help you -

When I exit/close IE or Google Chrome it takes me to the desktop not the Start Screen. I actually like the Start screen and do not want to end up at the desk top.

Is there anything I can do to make it go to the (Metro) Start Screen?

Is this normal or is this because I downloaded a desktop start menu ( to get the old start key back) and then decided I didn't want it - so uninstalled it. I don't know prior to that change how it behaved since I did the download almost immediately after getting my new windows 8 system.

A:when closing IE or Chrome it goes to Desktop not Start Scr

Hi rrocco, welcome to the forums, that's the normal behaviour, if you want the metro screen, move your cursor to the bottom left and click.

A:Chrome~No Notification Closing Multi Tabs

I have found nothing, just like you did, that is native to Chrome that supports is feature.

However, there is the Window Close Protector extension, which the developer warns may no longer work, and this other alternative that's a work-around but that appears to work (see CNet article).

Please update these older drivers. Links are included to assist in looking up the source of the drivers. If unable to find an update, please remove (un-install) the program responsible for that driver. DO NOT manually delete/rename the driver as it may make the system unbootable! :

Hi

I recently built my own computer and am having troubles with BSOD on World of warcraft. I have attached a zip folder of the required information. I believe it's a graphic card problem. My graphic card drivers are up to date. I have also been playing more demanding games (Crysis on max settings) and have not experienced this problem.

I'm not sure what to do next.

One dump blames Windows system USB driver, which is unlikely to be the real cause and the other dump blames hardware. If you are overclocking your RAM or graphics card, please return to default values. Neither of the dumps indicates your graphics card was involved. Both indicate memory corruption.

I recommend that you uninstall AVG using this removal tool: Tool (64 bit). If you are using AVG Identity Protection, uninstall it with this removal tool, Tool. AVG is a known cause of conflicts and BSOD's on some Win 7 systems. Download and install Microsoft Security Essentials in its place.

I find one outdated driver on your system. Out of date drivers can cause memory corruption and BSOD's. Update this driver through the link provided.

Hey everyone I'm new here Lately I've been having a problem with my computer and I think it is a graphics issue This problem only occurs while I'm playing World of Warcraft Sometimes the computer crashes with a blue screen error - the x code PAGE FAULT IN NON PAGED AREA caused by the driver nvlddmkm sys part of the Nvidia drivers I've tried reinstalling drivers - using both versions and - but it doesn't seem to help I've ran a stress test on the video RAM but It came out clean I'll do a Memtest test on my RAM in of Warcraft BSOD World tonight to see if that comes up with anything However I have noticed that the error occurs both on Windows Vista and Windows I have dual boot - so I'm assuming that it can't be a software issue only hardware I've included minidumps of the problem Any suggestions Thanks Specs Asus P N-D motherboard Intel Core Duo E OCZ GB DDR RAM BFG Nvidia GTX

Hello and welcome to TSF, Indochine!

Instead of re-installing why not update them since it appears you haven't updated them in awhile - which could ultimately be the cause.

Hey folks,

I'm getting the ever-popular "Attempt to reset the display driver and recover from the timeout failed" BSOD. It only happens when I'm playing WoW, not when I'm just doing productivity software on my pc.

I've zipped up my minidump and attached it to this post.

I'm running Vista 32 with dual nVidia GeForce 8800 GT cards. My drivers aren't brand-new, but from what I've read on the internets, downloading new drivers doesn't solve this problem.

Missing raids with my posse causes great psychological pain and so I'd be so grateful for any help! Thanks!

A:BSOD During World of Warcraft!! Help!

Hello grammartroll,
Here is your bugcheck for the BSOD.

STOP 0x00000116: VIDEO_TDR_ERROR

Usual causes: Video driver, overheating, bad video card, BIOS, Power to card.

To start with, i would download driver sweeper, boot in to safe mode, use driver sweeper, reboot and install the latest driver.
Also, check the cooling vents, make sure they are clear.

Guru3D - Driver Sweeper (Setup) download from Guru3D.com

Hope this helps, good luck and post your results.

I am having several problems. Firstly, it started off with the common redirect issue. I type something into google and I am redirected to "linosearch". Although recently, when I click the google chrome icon - it does not launch and when I enter ANY password (correct/incorrect) and sign in to Windows Live Messenger - the program immediately closes.

Could someone help me with this, I will follow each step as you suggest, thanks alot.

If not please perform the following steps below so we can have a look at the current condition of your machine. Please include a clear description of the problems you're having, along with any steps you may have performed so far. Please refrain from running tools or applying updates other than those we suggest while we are cleaning up your computer. The reason for this is so we know what is going on with the machine at any time. GMER will open to the Rootkit/Malware tab and perform an automatic quick scan when first run. (do not use the computer while the scan is in progress)If you receive a WARNING!!! about rootkit activity and are asked to fully scan your system...click NO.Now click the Scan button. If you see a rootkit warning window, click OK.When the scan is finished, click the Save... button to save the scan results to your Desktop. Save the file as gmer.log.Click the Copy button and paste the results into your next reply.Exit GMER and re-enable all active protection when done.-- If you encounter any problems, try running GMER in Safe Mode.In the upper right hand corner of the topic you will see a button called Options. No DMP files included in upload please use this method.

We do need the DMP file as it contains the only record of the sequence of events leading up to the crash, what drivers were loaded, and what was responsible.

You may be able to get the DMP files without crashing by booting into safe mode (F8) with networking.

To enable us to assist you with your computer's BSOD symptoms, upload the contents of your "\Windows\Minidump" folder.

The procedure:

Quote:
* Copy the contents of \Windows\Minidump to another (temporary) location somewhere on your machine.
* Zip up the copy.
* Attach the ZIP archive to your post using the "paperclip" (file attachments) button.
*If the files are too large please upload them to a file sharing service like "Rapidshare" and put a link to them in your reply.

To ensure minidumps are enabled:

Quote:
* Go to Start, in the Search Box type: sysdm.cpl, press Enter.
* Under the Advanced tab, click on the Startup and Recovery Settings... button.
* Ensure that Automatically restart is unchecked.
* Under the Write Debugging Information header select Small memory dump (256 kB) in the dropdown box (the 256kb varies).
* Ensure that the Small Dump Directory is listed as %systemroot%\Minidump.
* OK your way out.
* Reboot if changes have been made.

Hello, I've been getting bsod for a few months now so I'm pretty frustrated with it, i've tried everything I can think of/found. (I updated ALL of my drivers)

My CPU gets bsod after playing only certain games, for example: when I play "World of Warcraft", after I shut down "WoW", about 2-5 mins later I'll get bsod.

I've run a ton of file scanners (CCleaner, register easy, ect.) They haven't done anything, I also have updated all my drivers with some other devices.

system specs: windows 7 home premium 64bit OS
Acer
Aspire X3400
AMD Athlon(tm) II X4 645 Processor 3.10 GHz

[if you need any other info about my pc let me know, btw the bsod errors are all different even for the same game]

Thanks for your time reading this and any help I recieve!

A:BSOD while playing World of Warcraft

Hello and welcome to SF Fatherdeath .

World of Warcraft appears to be causing some issues at the moment as we see more it
being mentioned in more threads recently.
So that might be a part of it, did the game receive any sort of update lately?
As for now a single bugcheck isn't much to go on except a several suspects, which are BitDefender
which was mentioned as the active process but that doesn't mean it was the cause.
Other suspects are your Razer peripherals, an apple device driver (usbaapl64.sys) and RAM/Driver.
The MSINFO32 file is corrupt, please upload anew version of it:

Start → Run → type MSINFO32 then hit Enter.
In MSINFO32 go to, File → Save → name it your user-name.
Once the file is saved right click it and choose Send to → Compressed (zipped) folder.

Attach the file in your next post.

If you're using CCleaner please stop using it as it deletes the dump files which we need.
My suggestion for now is the wait and see approach, meaning if you find a reproducible
BSOD cause or if a BSOD just happens randomly report back using the SFDT again.
If you have the time to spare, you can run a test on the RAM.
Testing the RAM:

   Tip
Pay close attention to part 3 of the tutorial "If you have errors"
Test the RAM with Memtest86+ for at least 7-10 passes. It may take up to 22 passes to find problems. Make sure to run it once after the system has been on for a few hours and is warm, and then also run it again when the system has been off for a few hours and is cold.

When done with the testing procedure take a picture and upload it here.

This will help you to determine where the issue is origination from (if any):

How? Say you have two RAM sticks and two DIMM slots. You obtained errors at the test with all RAM sticks installed. Now, remove all the sticks but one. Test it in all the available slots, one by one. Continue the same procedure for all the available sticks.
How to make the inference that is it a RAM issue or it is a motherboard issue? Suppose you have got the result like that:
testSlot1Slot2RAM1ErrorErrorRAM2GoodGood It is a RAM, a bad RAM.

But if you have got a result like that:
testSlot1Slot2RAM1ErrorGoodRAM2ErrorGood It is a motherboard issue. The particular slot is bad.

Hi, hope someone can help, tearing my hair out here

WoW used to run fine on my PC, but for the last month, I randomly get BSOD's, as below - this has rendered the game unplayable since I can't risk my PC crashing whilst in the middle of a raid.

I've left my PC working for hours when *not* running WoW, and it appears stable, yet playing WoW, I can get a couple of BSOD's an hour.

Basic Info:

- x86 (32-bit)
- the original installed OS on the system? Yes
- an OEM or full retail version? OEM
- What is the age of system (hardware)? 4 years
- What is the age of OS installation (have you re-installed the OS?) 4 years

Requested reports attached.

Thanks,
Paul B

This is all kind of Greek to me.

I keep crashing in WoW. I have been working with the Blizzard tech team and I did a Memtest last night and it isn't my RAM. They thought it might be the onboard graphics interfering with the graphics card. I disabled it. Still locks and hard freezes or crashes to a BSOD. It is getting really frustrating. I can post my dxdiag if anyone needs. I just dont want to load y'all down with too much infom.

Any help would be greatly appreciated it. I need my WoW fix.

A:BSOD When Only Playing World Of Warcraft

My guess would be the problem is the gma 3100 video device. It's basically 2004 technology, the cataclysm update to world of warcraft includes quite a few graphics updates as well. The only thing I can think of is to disable every extra graphics feature you possibly can. Especially those related to shaders and lod.

Corrupted WoW patch 5.3 caused my game client and eventually entire computer to lock up upon loading into game, resulting in a BSOD.

I redownloaded and installed the entire game client and it solved the problem of the game locking up.

Everything seemed fine until this morning when I woke up to another BSOD. So I thought I would post the dumps and see if anyone had any idea what caused this one and/or the first one.

Other things to consider:

Removing Daemon tools, as it is a known causer of BSODs:

Code:
Start Menu\Programs\DAEMON Tools Lite
If you remove Daemon tools be sure to download and run this tool aswell:

DuplexSecure - Downloads

when the tool runs if the uninstall button is grayed out you are done and can close out of the windows if not click it and allow the tool to do its job. DO NOT click the install button it will install a driver known to cause BSODs onto your system.
You may want to think about preforming a clean start up there are many items in your start up which could be slowing your PC down during boot:

Hey guys! First time posting here. ^.^

Anyway, I've had the BSOD for about a month now and it started randomly. I've noticed it usually happens when I'm playing World of Warcraft. I've played other games and it doesn't happen. But then again, WoW is pretty much the only game I play for more than 3 hours at a time, so I don't know if it would happen in other games because I don't play them as frequently.

I'm running Windows 8.1 on an Alienware 14 laptop. My graphics card is an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 765M

I've attached a zip with all the files needed as instructed by the sticky post.

Please help! I tried calling Alienware and they suggested I re-install Windows. I really don't want to do that so any help is GREATLY appreciated!

Open Regedit. Find the subkey for that driver at HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services

Right click on it and choose export and save it. Then right click and delete it.

Reboot.

Let me know how it gets on after.

Remove every software from IObit, it is known for causing bluescreens.

If you are using a program like Ccleaner please stop using it while troubleshooting.
This because programs like Ccleaner remove dump files that are needed to troubleshoot.
Or configure Ccleaner to not remove dump files:

Hello everyone, this is my first post! I keep getting a blue screen of death and reboot every day while playing World of Warcraft. I recently got a new motherboard, gpu and cpu. I thought that I installed all the drivers correctly. The error message keeps telling me System_service_exception(dxgmms1.sys)

Thank you for any help you can provide!

A:Windows 8.1 BSOD while playing World of Warcraft

Hi,

Uninstall Norton, then use the removal tool for it as well. Set Windows Defender and Windows Firewall to Automatic and start them too, using services.msc.

At ASUS website for your model, update ATK and/or Probe II in Downloads/Utilities, to latest:

AsIO AsIO.sys Wed Aug 22 05:54:47 2012 (5034AC67)
Ensure there is no overclocking of bus speed, cpu or gpu.

Enjoy.

I have attempted to use registry mechanic and reginout as well but those don't seem to do anything.

I have hopefully attached the minidump files correctly. I have some guesses as to what it could maybe be causing the BSOD, my logitech headset, gamepad, keyboard?

Majority of these caused by USBPORT.SYS and old drivers. I would:

1-run a system file check
Run a system file check to verify and repair your system files.
To do this type cmd in search, then right click to run as administrator, then
SFC /SCANNOW

Good afternoon I've been having serious BSOD issues the rdbss.sys, playing of crc.sys BSOD World Warcraft, past few days and I'm getting nowhere with it I just recently rebuilt my OS as it had been installed on this PC for quite some time through several hardware upgrades My original BSOD referenced rtkvhd sys which is from my onboard sound card Real Tek and through some searching I found that some people had experienced better stability with Nvidia's drivers directly I used EVGA's originally So I uninstalled those and allowed Nvidia's to install But now I'm just getting BSOD's left and right and I really don't know how to analyze crash dumps simply beyond my knowledge base at this point Anything you can do to give me pointers would be great and BSOD playing World of Warcraft, rdbss.sys, crc.sys truly appreciated Attached please find the information gathered by SF Check Thanks again EDIT I've also added a Speccy data file EDIT Got another BSOD later in the day this was a Page Fault in Nonpaged area BSOD referencing rdbss sys Could the problem be the newer RAM that I put on this moderately older mobo

A:BSOD playing World of Warcraft, rdbss.sys, crc.sys

Welcome aboard. You first update your SSD's firmware. It may be due there, as one dump shows a F4 error and ntfs corruption.

Moreover, what you are to do is RAM - Test with Memtest86+
Run memtest for at least 8 passes, per module per slot.

Let us know the results.

Hi there

I'm experiencing full crashes at seemingly random intervals while playing WoW for a long time on a 4month old build.

I've not had this in any other game, even more taxing games like Shadow of Mordor / Alien Isolation.

When it crashes the screen immediately blanks out and sound will continuously play, a single random tone, until the system is shut off.

I've only seen a BSOD once and this was 'critical structure corruption'

I've tried uninstalling AMD drivers and reinstalling or altering WoW settings but this has been occuring for multiple patches.

Nothing out of the ordinary on the temps when it happens.

I've attached an SFdebug file and would appreciate any assistance possible

MANY thanks,

Allen

Welcome aboard.

► Uninstall the following programs:
Catalyst Control Center
DAEMON Tools Lite
Dell Software & Utilities
Norton AntiVirus; replace it with Microsoft Security Essentials - Free Antivirus for Windows
Nero and Roxio at the same time? Uninstall one... better keep Nero.
► Free up the startup.

Click on the Start button
Type “msconfig (without quotes), click the resulting link. It will open the System Configuration window.
Select the “Startup” tab.
Deselect all items other than the antivirus.
Apply > OK
Accept the restart.
► Update your Audio, Display and Network drivers. All are old.

► Your crash dumps are not showing any finite probable cause. In such a situation, it is better to enable Driver Verifier to monitor the drivers.

Driver Verifier - Enable and Disable

Run Driver Verifier for 24 hours or the occurrence of the next crash, whichever is earlier.

Let us know the results, with the subsequent crash dumps, if any.

I zipped up the dump files I found in this Minidump folder, I'm assuming it would be of some use.

Some other info:

Code:
The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck. The bugcheck was: 0x0000001e (0x0000000000000000, 0x0000000000000000, 0x0000000000000000, 0x0000000000000000). A dump was saved in: C:\Windows\MEMORY.DMP. Report Id: 040413-13104-01.
I was just playing and screen blue background with white text.

I really appreciate the help, I've had this issue for awhile, but never knew where I could get help. Luckily I finally decided to google and found this awesome site that has helped many others who experienced BOSD.

Hello Valk, welcome to SevenForums!

A few of the dumps are unknown image dumps, but there are two that show driver faults. The first shows nvlddmkm.sys as the fault (nVidia drivers), and then second shows cfosspeed6.sys as the fault (cFosSpeed - The Internet Accelerator).

First - Uninstall your nVidia drivers and update to the latest version. Update here.

*DO NOT USE BETA DRIVERS WHEN DIAGNOSING BSOD RELATED ISSUES!

Second - Uninstall whatever "cFosSpeed" is (I am not aware to what this is), or update the driver here. Currently, as of this post that update site for that driver is down, for me at least.

Greetings I'm very concerned about this this has been happening since like a year ago I cleaned the case very frequently of being (Not playing displayed) BSOD while World Warcraft I even opened the case for one day to just see if the temps would reach lower but this is all confusing Basically When i play games like WoW My gpu's temps reach high yeah i reached to a conclusion that it was the gpu inmediately Well then i decided to check the dmp files using BlueScreenView but what i saw was that the BSOD's origin was the ntoskrnl exe driver and i'm like quot Wtf is going on quot Every time this happens the audio video and everything else fails BUT the computer is still turned on which bugs me Then i BSOD (Not being displayed) while playing World of Warcraft reboot the computer and it's back up Play that game for another - mins then it happens again It used to go away but now it's just annoying Thanks for the help SevenForums -Zetta Oh here's the info you need

Recently I started playing World of Warcraft and it kept BSODing BSOD Warcraft loading ti World of sc while with EVGA 750 while getting into the game I have always had some random BSODs before but I thought I fixed it all with a new mobo new ram new psu because my psu died recently and a new gpu I tried playing with an older gpu I had laying around a radeon hd it also BSOD after a couple of minutes of playing At first I thought it was overheating but I cleaned my heatsink and it seems to be good now It used to be around - but now it's ish idle I've ran primetest but it bsod'd after awhile BSOD while loading World of Warcraft with EVGA 750 ti sc probably because I was doing stuff while it ran with the gpu I've ran memtest and it passed without any problems but I didn't run it too long I've ran furmark with the ti BSOD while loading World of Warcraft with EVGA 750 ti sc gpu it bsoded right away I also had just reformatted my computer and installed a fresh copy of Windows still BSOD right away when BSOD while loading World of Warcraft with EVGA 750 ti sc loading WoW I used to run a Geforce ti or something to that extent but gave it to my brother and his computer's been running fine I could also test that gpu to see if it BSODs aswell So I assume it's the gpu or my mobo's pci-e slot I've been messing around without any gpu and it seems to be stable with the integrated mobo gpu just that it's not really playable with the low fps Here's my PC specs I don't oc btw Windows Home Premium bit i - k Asrock z Extreme Corsair CX Series Modular CX M ATX Power Supply gb Crucial Ballistic Sports Single piece EVGA Geforce ti SC I included the DM Log Collector

A:BSOD while loading World of Warcraft with EVGA 750 ti sc

bump, could some one help me with what my minidump shows?
I tried using a debugging program, but I don't really understand all the codes.
I think I found out that it was gpu related from what I can sort of figure out, but it still doesn't really answer my question about it possibly being a pci-e slot problem? (ie, my mobo)

I did a quick check on the capacitors on my mobo and they all seem fine, I'll recheck in the morning.
And an update, I've been using my computer fine the entire day without any bsods while running no gpu.
So I assume all the other components in my computer's fine?

Thanks

First thing, remove the over clock until we stabilize the system. Also, uninstall AMD Overdriver. It is known to cause problems

Your first crash was caused by the Microsoft Anti-Malware driver. Try reinstalling or the program or removing it completely.

I would like for you to enable driver verifier and see if it catches anything
Driver Verifier - Enable and Disable

Found this looking through your logs. Looks like you might have some hardware issues, mainly CPU

So a bit of history first up A few months back my Gigabyte GTX video card died I got it sent off for warranty and was given an Asus GTX DirectCUII card to use in the meantime Previously I didn't have any issues with the Gigabyte card when it came to playing games So for games like Battlefield and this new Asus card I discovered that it had been overclocked from factory by an extra mhz over the default nVidia speeds - So mhz instead of default mhz Ok so I fixed that using the Asus GPU tweak tool and clocking it back down to mhz BF then stopped crashing On the other hand since getting this card I have had of BSOD World Warcraft, playing 0x00000111 error nothing but problems playing World of Warcraft I tried many many many times uninstalling reinstalling completely cleaning out the system of old and new drivers from nVidia thinking it was their drivers causing the issue Well it wasn't I learnt that apparently the default v that the nVidia GTX series uses is not enough power for some reason for Direct X in World of Warcraft to run stable even though there is a plethora of other games I play that use DX and run stable at the default voltage I then downloaded nVidia Inspector to see what was going on I discovered that BSOD playing World of Warcraft, error 0x00000111 the card is running in idle mode at v Fair BSOD playing World of Warcraft, error 0x00000111 enough that's while I'm in windows doing jack all I opened the overlocking tab in the program and saw that the voltage for this card was set to v I believe the default for the nVidia GTX card to run correctly with a core speed of mhz and memory clock of mhz is v Only finding this out today previously I had set the voltage to v I had been running WoW for about days now with this change using DX with no issues until this morning WoW kept black screening then coming back and doing the same thing until after about seconds I got a BSOD Refer to crash dump file attached My concern here is was my clocking to v the issue relating to the crash or is it something else I'm gonna continue testing the game with v instead and DX and see if that does anything

A:BSOD playing World of Warcraft, error 0x00000111

Update.

I tried changing the voltages as mentioned above and the game still crashes out with a display driver issue. Hence in WoW DX11 does not like these series nVidia cards as far as I can tell.

I'm currently running the game in DX9 to see if it's stable.

Hello there

I have had the same error caused by the driver file: ntoskrnl.exe

This error occurs constantly whilst I am playing World of Warcraft for around an hour, before I get a BSOD with the same error each time. I have updated my drivers to the latest version, if there is any other information you require then please say

A:BSOD playing World of Warcraft, error 0x00000109

This definitely looks like a failing RAM.

Thanks in advance.

A:BSOD While playing League of Legends / World of Warcraft.

10 BSOD's in 5 days - that's a lot!!!
4 different BSOD error codes
4 different causes blamed
This is most likely a hardware problem - but can also be caused by compatibility issues, low-level driver problems (like those w/Daemon Tools) or even malware.

18 BSOD's in MSINFO32 - nearly all involve core Windows components

Please uninstall Daemon Tools as it's sptd.sys driver is known to cause BSOD's in Win7 systems. Once the program is uninstalled, please use this free tool to ensure that sptd.sys is removed: DuplexSecure - FAQ - Remove 64 bit sptd.sys

You have a driver for Astra64.sys that dates from 2005 - this could also be a compatibility issue on your system.
I believe that it is a part of the Astra32 program installed on your system. Please uninstall it and monitor for further BSOD's.

Your ABN AMRO e.dentifier2 Smart Card Reader (aabed2.sys) is dated from 2008. It should also be updated.

I've been having trouble with WoW crashing out and trying to fix those errors. After one of them I got a BSOD which caused me to actually be concerned instead of just annoyed.

Is Windows 7 . . .
- x64
- Full retail, fresh install
I have already updated all my drivers. Ran memtest86 over night. Ran prime95 for 4 hours or so. My CPU is getting to only 58 degrees on full load.

BugCheck 0x124
You have a 0x124 hardware bugcheck. If the system is still under warranty, I would recommend sending it in to have diagnostic tests done and any bad hardware replaced.

   Warning
Before you proceed with the following, answer these two questions: Are you still under warranty? Does your warranty allow you to open up the machine to check hardware? If you are unsure of the answers to these questions, contact your system manufacturer. WARNING: The steps that follow can void your warranty!!!

For your hardware stop 0x124 crash, read through Stop 0x124 - what it means and what to try and use the following hardware checks to supplement that link.
If you are overclocking any hardware, please stop.

If you have an SSD, make sure the following are up to date:SSD firmware
BIOS Version
Chipset Drivers
Hard disk controller drivers/SATA drivers
If you have a Marvell IDE ATA/ATAPI device, make sure the drivers are up to date from the Intel site or Marvell site and not from your motherboard/vendor support site.

Run all but the advanced tests with SeaTools for HDDs.SeaTools for Windows

SeaTools for DOS
Monitor temperatures during the following tests. Use the following programs to monitor the temperatures. Real Temp is a good CPU temperature monitor.
Speccy - System Information - Free Download will monitor all hardware temperatures.
HWiNFO, HWiNFO32 & HWiNFO64 - Hardware Information and Analysis Tools can be inaccurate for CPU temperatures, but is a good program for GPU temperature monitoring.
Use FurMark: VGA Stress Test, Graphics Card and GPU Stability Test, Burn-in Test, OpenGL Benchmark and GPU Temperature | oZone3D.Net to test the graphics card GPU. Let it run until the GPU temperatures even out or until the GPU temperatures reach a dangerous level (you can find the max temperature for your card on either the nVidia or AMD sites; if you are not sure, ask us). The goal is to get a steady temperature, find out if the GPU is overheating, or to see if there are any artifacts present in the test itself: look for strange pixelated patterns on the screen or colors that do not look like they belong. Then use the |MG| Video Memory Stress Test 1.7.116 Download to test your graphics card memory. Let the memory test run for at least seven passes; the more the better.

Run Hardware - Stress Test With Prime95 to determine any hardware problems. Run all three tests for a few hours each. If you get errors, stop the test and post back here.

Follow the steps for doing CPU stress test using IntelBurnTest

Run the boot version of Memtest86+ paying close attention to Parts 2 and 3 of the tutorial. Also, in case Memtest86+ misses anything and comes up with no errors, run the extended version of the Windows Memory Diagnostics Tool for at least five passes. I've recently started Blue Screening about an hour or so into gameplay. It happened a few months ago, but when I didn't crash again I just thought the problem had fixed itself. It only seems to happen when playing World of Warcraft (WoW), I can play Skyrim, TF2, Diablo 3 and other games without any BSODs.

I've attached the BSOD files.

I'm running on Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit, it came pre-installed on a Samsung RV515. The laptop is about a year old and the only hardware change I can think of is my Toshiba Canvio (external hard drive) that has WoW and Diablo 3 on it. My hard drive is not overclocked. If you need any other information please let me know, and I'll be happy to provide it.

I'm not very experienced in any kind of computer maintenance and would greatly appreciate it if this could all be explained like I'm 5. :(

Using nirsoft's BlueScreenView I was able to look at my minidumps. It even let's me view the actual Blue Screen. Here's a copy-paste of what the blue screen looks like:

How To Find Drivers:

Quote:
- search Google for the name of the driver
- compare the Google results with what's installed on your system to figure out which device/program it belongs to
- visit the web site of the manufacturer of the hardware/program to get the latest drivers (DON'T use Windows Update or the Update driver function of Device Manager).
- if there are difficulties in locating them, post back with questions and someone will try and help you locate the appropriate program.

- - The most common drivers are listed on this page: Driver Reference Driver Reference
- - Driver manufacturer links are on this page: Drivers and Downloads

Attaching a zip file with everything requested and would appreciate some help. Blue Screen Viewer seems to point to raspptp.sys as the cause.

I never really had this problem but recently I have installed a new Logitech webcam and headset (have updated the drivers). Also a few days ago there was a power outage and my computer was just shut off unexpectedly which could have damaged some components?

This crash happens while playing World of Warcraft and doesn't seem to happen when I'm not playing that game.

If you overclocked that chip put it back on stock settings the BSOD 's will go away

Pretty much overclocking those chips aren't the same people are getting BSOD every other end messing with those chips if it isn't overclocked I would look into the video card you are using it could be giving that error too

I just built a new PC, and I am getting the dreaded error code 0x00000124. I have attached the DM Log Collector information.

While reading through other threads, one of the first steps suggested was to run Prime95 to stress test the CPU. I did that before but I did not watch the temps, but I did not get any errors after 2 hours. I was trying again but this time running Core Temp 1.0 RC6. My CPU temp shot up to 100 degrees C. According to this page (CPU Temperature - What are the Maximum and Normal CPU Temps?) the max my CPU should be at is 67 degrees C. I am afraid to run that utility in fear I am going to damage something. Is it safe to continue to run that test?

I am using the stock cooler on my CPU (Intel Core i7 4770k), and I am not overclocking anything.

A:BSOD playing World of Warcraft, error 0x00000124

This bugcheck means a fatal hardware error has occurred. Unfortunately the WHEA error record doesn't have enough information to point to a cause.
However from what you've said your CPU temperature is too high.
I recommend getting a new cooler or a bigger case as your CPU should not go that high.
A new case and a cooler might be a good idea if you have a small case.

Any more problems let me know
