Random System Freeze, no BSOD - Black screen on Hard Reboot

Q: Random System Freeze, no BSOD - Black screen on Hard Reboot

Hello For the last couple months my PC has been having an issue where the screen randomly freezes and the last sounds that were playing loop and then stop This can happen while playing a game be it Hearthstone Batman Arkham City any game Can also happen when using any web based flash like YouTube Twitch etc But I have also had freezes about a minute after logging on without even doing any of the above CPU temperatures right before freeze appear normal and the fans stay at about the same speeds when screen no - BSOD Black System Reboot Hard Freeze, Random on freeze happens at least I don't hear them spinning up I am forced to do a hard reboot but it takes a few tries to get the PC to boot because the monitor simply acts like it doesn't detect any video signal upon reboot I can hear Windows do its boot up sounds Random System Freeze, no BSOD - Black screen on Hard Reboot but nothing on Random System Freeze, no BSOD - Black screen on Hard Reboot screen I have a feeling Random System Freeze, no BSOD - Black screen on Hard Reboot this might be multiple problems linked together I included a zip of my computer's SF Diangostic Tool report Thanks for taking a look at this problem all help is welcome and appreciated

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

That definitely sounds like a graphics driver related issue, if not then a hardware failure in your GPU. I would recommend updating your graphics driver by booting into safe mode (F8 on startup).
Uninstall the current ones via the control panel.
Let us know the results.

Hi and welcome to TSF,

1. Please try another monitor if possible to eliminate your monitor from the equation.

2. I believe that board has built in graphics, please try and connect to the other vga port on the I/O board on back of pc. You may need to go into bios to enable the internal IGP(graphics built in adapter) beforehand.

Hi All First post here but have visited often over the years to learn about various subjects Lately I've been frequenting the many helpful BSOD pages thanks to the problem that is the subject of this thread I'm hoping you wizards can help me pinpoint the offending driver or hardware before I resort to random uninstalls and eventually a clean Windows reinstall as more extreme procedures I know what follows is a read but it's hopefully well-written so please bear with First the System Specs Specs are in my profile BSOD, Random Minutes After Screen Black Startup Freeze, or Basically this is a heavily upgraded OEM the HP m p HP Pavilion Elite m p Desktop PC Product Specifications HP Pavilion Elite m p Desktop PC HP Support The current configuration ran smoothly for over six months before the problem appeared With the exception of the graphics card more on that below Random BSOD, Freeze, or Black Screen Minutes After Startup the most recent changes were the addition of the two HDDs at the beginning of this year when migrating to SSD Before that the machine was completely problem free going back to its inception in she's an old girl I know The Mystery Currently the system is at a point where it always freezes throws a random BSOD or the screen goes black monitor goes to sleep within minutes after startup It almost always happens within five minutes after the desktop loads but occasionally up to ten minutes This always requires a forced restart with a chance of one of these problems occurring again following reboot for an unpredictable number of times What began as typically a single occurrence has since become on average two crash reboot cycles The record was four Once the system is running for at least five minutes the mystical quot five minute rule quot as I've come to know it it works fine I can leave it idle or punish it with maxed out ultimate settings in Skyrim for hours on end and it won't so much as hiccup But after being shut down or in sleep mode for at least some hours the startup problem always resurfaces in whichever flavors and quantities it decides to take In all it's a tolerable nuisance but one that's surely the manifestation of one or more drivers or hardware gone wild Like the worst computing problems this one arose seemingly out of the ether and has been in a downward spiral since The variety and frequency of crashes seems to have gotten progressively worse over the more than two months since the problem first appeared As far as I can tell it all started with a sudden freeze on July that had me thinking my wireless mouse and keyboard batteries needed replacing Weeks went by with no problems until the black screens started occurring Still these were intermittent and occurred days or weeks apart Before long the first BSODs started appearing These were also intermittent at first As time went on it got to the point at which things are now For basically the entire month of September there have been one or more BSODs almost daily uploaded for your debugging pleasure but in any case always one or more of the three types of crashes freeze BSOD or black screen shortly after startup Today's session went like this Freeze three minutes in forced-reboot BSOD some minutes in forced reboot different BSOD seven minutes in broke the quot five minute rule quot I know forced reboot up and running six hours and counting Each day the experience is different last night was a black screen and BSOD but the one constant is the crash es almost always occur within five occasionally ten minutes post startup Or at least that was the case until yesterday when the system threw a curve ball with a BSOD twenty minutes in I pray this isn't a new symptom So far the two startups since then have remained true to the five five to ten minute rule The Detective Work Needless to say I have tried everything I can think of in this harrowing driver hardware whodunit I started off investigating the basics There were no manual changes to software drivers or ... A:Random BSOD, Freeze, or Black Screen Minutes After Startup

You have described exactly my problem, dude!
If the crash (not necesarilly the BSOD) came in a middle of skype or VOIP conversation, can you still talk/hear for 30 sec - 1 minute, like me? With black screen on, in stand by. I can.
I hardly wait to find the solution for our problem...

Maybe is usefull to check this post too: BSOD minutes after desktop starts

This is a BSOD or startup. Black Crash, Screen shortly Random after Freeze, strange problem my desktop has had for a fairly long time Usually my computer will work fine start up with no problems for several days Random Crash, Freeze, Black Screen or BSOD shortly after startup. in a row And then for reasons I don't know it sometimes will start crashing Usually the screen goes completely black and the computer completely non-responsive and it must be hard reset to get any response at all out of it A few times I've actually seen a brief BSOD but too brief to actually read it Random Crash, Freeze, Black Screen or BSOD shortly after startup. and see what Random Crash, Freeze, Black Screen or BSOD shortly after startup. is happening Sometimes the screen will just freeze where it is with the last bit of audio that was playing repeating nonstop The strangest thing about these crashes is they only happen a little bit after or during startup if the computer is fine for minutes I know it'll be fine until the next time it's turned off It has on a few occasions come up with a screen telling me that the CMOS is corrupted I've had startup repair run and tried some kind of hard drive diagnostic tool the startup repair couldn't find a problem and the tool said the hard drive was good I've seen it crash this way in the middle of the bios boot during login in safe mode pretty much any time during the first half-hour to hour of the computer being on But never afterward I ran the diagnostic tool the results are attached to this post Any help at all would be appreciated In case it has any effect on anything my computer used to be a Vista and a complimentary upgrade was used to make it windows

Hello Xindaris.

It appears that you have tow antivirus programs installed? MSE and Avira?
Uninstall Avira. Use Microsoft Security Essentials as your antivirus with windows inbuilt firewall, and free MBAM as the on demand scanner.
Download, install and update those, and then run full system scans with both of them, one by one.

Uninstall MagicISO. It may cause the BSODs as you explained.

ITEMVAUUEName MagicISO SCSI Host ControllerManufacturer MagicISO, Inc.PNP Device ID ROOT\SCSIADAPTER\0000Driver c:\windows\system32\drivers\mcdbus.sys (2.7.106.519, 249.56 KB (255,552 bytes), 12/15/2009 5:17 PM)The SCSI adapter installed by MagicISO can cause start time BSODs.

How to Test and Diagnose RAM Issues with Memtest86+
Run memtest for at least 8 passes, preferably overnight.

Stress test the Graphics Card using Furmark.

Are you overclocking? As you are getting BSODs, you should stop overclocking and run all the hardware components like CPU, GPU and RAM to their default settings. Also set the BIOS to default, too.
How To Clear CMOS (Reset BIOS)

Free up the startup. Windows does not need any other program to auto start with it, but the auto start programs often conflicts and causes various problems including BSODs.
Click on the Start button
Type “msconfig (without quotes), click the resulting link. It will open the System Configuration window.
Select the “Startup” tab.
Deselect all items other than the antivirus.
Apply > OK
Accept then restart.
Let us know the results. And, is it a factory installed windows?

Hello everyone! I got a problem with my new computer. I got random black screen then reboot/freeze error code 0x0000116. All my drivers are up to date, my bios too.
Here are my dump file and my dxdiag. Thank you for your time! ^^

PS: My components temperature never goes higher then 50 degree even at full use!
PS2: I compressed my .dmp file since I couldn't send it otherwise, so no worry.

I own a Gateway NV52, and the issue with locking up began after I upgraded to Win7. After reloading the factory default of Vista on this, the laptop keeps randomly locking up and then going to a blank black screen.

I've gone to other threads and tried running MemTest and Vista's Memory Diagnostic and they both came up with nothing. I've also seen that other posters have attached dump files and other generated information from the computer to help solve their issues, but I don't know where to find these files to even get started. Can anyone help? What other information do I need to give to get started on the right track?

A:Random Black Screen Freeze, not after login

I would first do a system file check.

System Files - SFC Command
Tutorial thanks to Brink

Then you can view any error messages and see what they mean from this Microsoft site.

How to analyze the log file entries that the Microsoft Windows Resource Checker (SFC.exe) program generates in Windows Vista

If errors are found run the test again as it sometimes takes about 3 passes to get it all fixed. Sometimes even that fails to repair it but post back with results and we will take it from there.

My PC is year and months old I no loop, reboot, boot BSOD, minidump Random freeze, anymore. have never changed anything inside it besides thermal paste and cleaning dust Since september I have been having BSOD nearly every Random BSOD, freeze, reboot, boot loop, no minidump anymore. day And many times through the year as well but they all got fixed by replugging stuff cleaning dust and reapplying thermal paste - During september it was like min of chain BSOD when using it for the first time of the day somewhere within the first two hours then it runs fine the whole day I could play and watch videos freely - Mid-late september it started to BSOD and also reboot without blue screens and freezing until I reboot myself at any time even idle it was barely usable - of september I update Realtek HD Audio driver get MSE reinstall Nvidia graphic drivers no BSOD for the day but a day after it starts again and since th of september it does not create minidump files anymore Yet it is configurated to create them it even says it during the BSOD now I take photos instead Yet I still got one more minidump created the rd of october the last of them while I had BSOD's few days before that haven't created minidumps I uninstalled MSE and the Realtek HD Audio Driver and it became more usable but still having crashes days out of - On November th I reinstalled Windows Home Premium b with the CD Still the same day with no BSOD and still no minidumps the folder didn't even create I had to do it myself still nothing Very often after a crash the PC is running but won't reboot the led of my screen is supposed to be blue but it stays orange a lot so I have to keep pusing quot Reset quot button until it really reboots Sometimes worse it loops the reboot I mean the motherboard fan instead of going continuous uninterrupted quot Vrooooooooooooom quot does quot Vroooom Vrooooom Vrooooom quot infinitely I know it keeps rebooting because if I open the CD reader it instantly closes whereas it stays open if it goes just long quot Vrooooooooooooom quot This case is the worst it feels like my PC is dieing I tried removing the smallest RAM stick when it happened to me days ago and it booted fine directly after but soon got a BSOD just on scrolling a Youtube playlist thus loading its thumbnails I also get the quot File header checksum is corrupt quot black screen few times after trying to reboot Crashing happens mostly on videos and games livestreams But also while idle not often mostly after it already crashed Can happen minutes after first boot or one hour or five but mostly the first two hours if it lasts more while lots of videos were watched then it is likely to not crash at all for the day I suspect in order My RAM sticks GB because I get BSOD even idle when doing nothing graphic intensive sometimes when opening several Chrome tabs I can crash EVEN IN SAFE MODE Even while rebooting before or after getting to the BIOS screen Even while restoring to a previous date Graphic Card like everything inside the PC it's as old And earlier in the past months some particles in games started flipping out like crazy deforming my characters in TERA WoW LoL Sleeping Dogs then BSOD now it doesn't even warn But it can still run games at lowest settings and videos in p or p fps fine and I crash even without using graphic intensive apps so it's less likely to be the cause of crashing while browsing Windows Explorer for example BIOS this one I haven't ever updated because I'm too newbie Power Supply Case amp fan the only thing I haven't properly cleaned ever just sprayed canned air inside because it's said to be dangerous I tried - Reinstalling Windows helped just for the day of the reinstall - Display Driver Upgraded and downgraded many different Nvidia versions but even the ones that worked well don't anymore and having one is worse than having no driver Because I get the quot Nvidia kernel Display driver XXX XX stopped responding and recovered quot error on most videos And I can ... I have a multi-boot set up with XP 64 as one of the OS's. I have been using it more often recently and it can suddenly give a black screen, keyboard doesn't work (tried to shutdown 'blind' using Ctrl+Alt+Del then Alt+S then Enter, no response). Also pressing Numlock doesn't affect the LED.
There is nothing relevant in Event Viewer.
The PC goes totally dead although the power is still on.

I have Vista 64 also and this works perfectly, so do Vista 32 and XP 32.

There is no pattern to the freezes, at least none I can see, they seem to occur at random times.

I know it's a tall order with such an intermittent fault but has anyone got any idea what I can do to troubleshoot this ?

(if it helps my system specs. are 'under' the PC icon above)

Hello,

A few days ago I had this problem for the first time, my PC freezes (no buttons respond) and I get a black screen. If sound was playing at that moment, it skips continuously. The only thing I can do is powering off my pc and restart it again.

After restarting it says the pc didn't shut down cleanly and starts collecting meta-cache, I have the option to start Windows in safe or normal mode.

After that everything seems unchanged/normal until it freezes again (this is at random, it can be 20 minutes after / 1 hour after /...).

Prior to the first time I did not download/install anything (to my knowledge), nor did something happen to my pc (didn't let it drop, didn't spill anything on it, etc).

I followed the instructions on the "BSOD - Posting Instructions" to make this post.

Hopefully someone can help me with this.

Thank you.

Thomas D.M.

A:PC freeze, black screen and sound skipping at random

There are no dump files in your .zip folder. Can you please follow these instructions on how to configure dump files. Can you also disable automatic restart, just follow the tutorial and you will see a tick box saying "Automatically Restart" untick it.

Dump Files - Configure Windows to Create on BSOD

Can you then enable Driver Verifier by following these instructions as it will help determine if there are bad drivers installed.

A:New PC, Random Black Screen Freeze under load, no dump file generated

The file you uploaded didn't contain anything. Please run Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) Posting Instructions again and select option 2 in the instructions. Click the big orange 'Grab All' button and give it time to finish. Then upload the entire file and we will take a look.

Also, please include manufacturer and model of the PSU in your system specs at the bottom left of your last post. Just click that and there will be a link there to update system specs. Be sure to click save at the bottom of the page. If you haven't already, please list the PSU, CPU cooler and anything else that may help. Sometimes we have to look up a component, so the details to do that helps us to help you.

Also, after that please open a elevated command prompt ( click start, type cmd in the search box, right click on the cmd entry and select run as administrator) in the black box that opens, copy/paste sfc /scannow. If you decide to type it, notice the space between the sfc and the /. It is a system file checker which will scan your system files and attempt to correct any missing or corrupt files. What we want are the results to say windows found no integrity violations. If it says files were found but could not be repaired, close the box, reboot and run it again, after opening the administrative command prompt. You may have to reboot and run it three times for it to repair all system files. If it can't repair them after 3 reboots, let us know.

You actually did very well in filling in the system specs. Just a couple more things need to be added. Also, welcome to Seven Forums. When you say a new custom built computer, who built it and I assume it is still under warranty. Just add any details you can about the problem. If it happens when running a certain app, or when doing a certain thing that would be useful info to help us nail down the problem. Can I also assume the OS as already installed when you received the computer?

Ever since, a random crash of the computer with the monitor going to black (still powered, but in standby), no mouse or keyboard will work,
a buzz in the speakers, and the hard drive stops, tho all fans keep running.
The only thing I can do is do a hard shut-down (hold the on/off for 7-8 seconds), then power it back up.
Can you help?

Ok 116 error is caused by your Graphics card.
First thing to do is update your drivers from the NVIDIA website.

If BSODs continue Try HDD tests,
download gpu-z to check if your card is getting too hot, also is there lots of dust in the card?

Do you overclock your video card?

Hello there,

A few days ago, my computer started up as usual and showed the Packard Bell logo. The underscore cursor blinked 3 times and then the computer rebooted. This continued all day so it's definitely not temporary. I plugged the hard drive into another computer, and it had the same problem. The PCB on the hard drive has no visible signs of damage; the hard drive IS displayed in the BIOS, and there are no unusual sounds coming from the hard drive. What could the problem be?

A:Black screen and constant reboot - hard drive failure?

Sounds like the hard drive could potentially be corrupted, if that is the case, my advice is to plug the hard drive into another computer and backup your personal data, and then do a fresh install on the hard drive. If that doesn't work, then the hard drive has most likely failed.

Windows 7 Starter 32-bit

OEM - netbook.

Netbook about 1-2 years old but I have a bad memory.
Never re-installed.

Made a thread about this in Hardware and devices, I also thought it might be my USB mouse causing problems because recently I have been getting the USB device is malfunctioned and well all the reboots seem to happen just minutes after my USB mouse is connected.

Filled in System Specs and have got the system report health and dump files.

Hope I did it right.

A:BSOD/Black Screen Reboot

You have an issue with MSE. I suspect it is caused by an incomplete Windows update.

First thing to try:

Quote:
Please go to your Maintenance Center and check the Windows Update status. Make sure you are up to date, do them one by one manually if needed.
For help or reset see: Windows Update - Reset

Second (if the above did not immediately solve..)
Re-install MSE. and, not sure if you are, but do not use other, possibly conflicting AV/Guard tooling.

The way you describe the problem, it sounds like you do not get dumps. Just in case that is because of incomplete settings, please check:

Quote:
To ensure minidumps are enabled:

Dump Files - Configure Windows to Create on BSOD

Go to Start, in the Search Box type: sysdm.cpl, press Enter.
Under the Advanced tab, click on the Startup and Recovery Settings... button.
Ensure that Automatically restart is unchecked.
Under the Write Debugging Information header
Select Small memory dump (256 kB) in the dropdown box (the 256kb varies).
Ensure that the Small Dump Directory is listed as %systemroot%\Minidump.
OK your way out.
Reboot if changes have been made.

Next, tryout, as a test, to have a screen in the taskmanager, showing mem usage on, when you plug in the USB. Does it spike and does paging seem to be able to handle it? Or is the spike the moment it reboots/blacks out?

You have a 1Gb netbook which could have some trouble especially if you use a lot of the Apple stuff on at the same time... Shouldn't crash of-course.. just trying to find a logical reason.

I have been experiencing random Blue Screens of Death BSOD with my laptop recently It usually happens while trying to play games but I'm not positive there's a connection there The most frequent error message is IRQL NOT LESS OR EQUAL although it has thrown in some other's as well I bought some new RAM for it a few months ago so I immediately crash, test. reboot, Random system failed system BSOD, started suspecting that and ran MemTest overnight which turned up no problems Then today while I was gone for a bit I had it run the HP System Extensive Test and there I found some problems I am attaching images I took with my cell phone and then transferred to my computer I appear to have a hardware and or memory issue of some sort the USB errors were a little unexpected What do these codes mean In case the pictures aren't clear enough the System Extensive Test came up with following Memory Extensive Check FAILED FAILURE ID U SC F- Random BSOD, system crash, reboot, failed system test. hI @Wild_Horses?, Welcome to the HP Forums! It is a terrific place to find answers and tips! For you to have the best experience in the HP forum I would like to direct your attention to the HP Forums Guide:Learn How to Post and More.  I understand that you are experiencing a blue screen when playing games and the most frequent error is "IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL" .  You  recently changed the memory so you ran a diagnostics and no issues were found. This error is usually due to a bad driver.  Have you done all your Windows updates? Here is a link to Open the Windows Update troubleshooter that may help find additional drivers.   Although it lists Windows 7 it does work in Windows 10. Once launched, it should show a screen like this.Use the second option "Background Intelligent Transfer Service", it should lead to a force update of 'Windows Updates' that may not be automatically being applied that could fix some of these issues. Have you ran the Windows troubleshooter? Have you ran the HP Support Assistant ? Is your Java and Direct X up to date? Here is a link that may also help.  HP Notebook PCs - Green Screen and Other Video Playback Issues (Windows 8, 7) Please keep me posted.Thank you  for participating in the HP Forums! A:BSOD Plannetside 2 (steam) black screen> reboot> BSOD crash report

A stop 0x116 is a display/graphics related issue. Many a factors or components may cause such a BSOD.

First of all, it is the display driver. From your BSOD dumps, I have noticed that it crashed the same irrespective of the driver version over time. So overlooking this part right now. Will concentrate it on later again, if needed.

Next thing is overclocking, which sometimes lead display to crash. And, you are slightly overclocked.

Code:
CPUID: "Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-2600 CPU @ 3.40GHz"
MaxSpeed: 3400
CurrentSpeed: 3411
As the system is crashing, you should stop overclocking. Set all the hardware elements like CPU, GPU and RAM to default; and reset the BIOS to default too.
How To Clear CMOS (Reset BIOS)

Heat is another factor. Is the computer hot? Report us the heat of the computer after a couple of hours of your normal usage. Upload a screenshot of the summery tab of Speccy.

Also, dust accumulation causes heat, and dust accumulation depends on the age of the system. How old the system is? If possible, dismantle it and clean the inside carefully .... specially the air vents and fan grills, so that it can blow the hot air out easily.
Dont forget to apply thermal paste to the CPU when re-seating the system.

Insufficient power supply is also a great cause of display crash. Check if the CPU is supplying adequate power there or not.

lately my computer just been freezing with a black screen and having issues with BSOD

A:BSOD and sometimes black screen freeze by just using computer

Hello anonymousmurder, Welcome to SF

First off if your OCing in anyway stop, return everything to stock settings for the purposes of testing

If you havent already, fill in your system specs so we know what we are dealing with
System Info - See Your System Specs

Run some scans to check against virus or infection
Anti-rootkit utility TDSSKiller
Windows Defender Offline

Run some basic hardware tests
RAM - Test with Memtest86+
Disk Check (windows based check)
Hard Drive Diagnostic Procedure (bootable disk check)

OK thats the general stuff now down to specifics
1st dump reports BugCode 0x1 BSOD Index and doesnt give us a great deal to go on as its quite unusual and blames the driver AgileVpn.sys which is a driver from windows update so cannot really cause a BSOD

APC_INDEX_MISMATCH (1)
This is a kernel internal error. The most common reason to see this
bugcheck is when a filesystem or a driver has a mismatched number of
calls to disable and re-enable APCs. The key data item is the
Thread->CombinedApcDisable field. This consists of two separate 16-bit
fields, the SpecialApcDisable and the KernelApcDisable. A negative value
of either indicates that a driver has disabled special or normal APCs
(respectively) without re-enabling them; a positive value indicates that
a driver has enabled special or normal APCs (respectively) too many times.
Arguments:
Arg1: 0000000073732e09, Address of system call function or worker routine
Arg2: 0000000000000000, Thread->ApcStateIndex

I have been working on this for months.
Started with a clean install of Windows 7 Pro
SSD Firmware was updated at installation time
Here are some of the steps I have already taken

1. Replaced video card
2. New Memory
3. Removed Secondary Hard Drives
4. Updated all drivers
5. Updated motherboard firmware
6. communicated with ASUS ( Turned out not to be much help as they could not find a replacement MB )
7. Ran verifier.exe when dne64x.sys appeared as a problem I removed Cisco VPN and AVG Pro ( That error appeared to go away but I am still getting errors )
8. Removed Internal Blu-ray Drive ( I just did this 2 days ago after I realized the system was not seeing the drive. I was hoping that was the issue but Noooo! that did not work )

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

A:BSOD - Random along with System Freeze

At the first attempt, uninstall ASUS AI Suite and see how it goes.

I don't get a BSOD, just a system crash. Screen freezes in place and no response from keyboard/mouse. My computer was freezing before with the onboard video card I had, so I swapped it out for an Asus HD4350. It used to crash with a blue screen with lines on it. Since the installation of the new card, it just freezes. So I think it's the video card.

Minidump attached!

Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

A:Get random screen freeze/system crash

It does look like a video card issue. Try updating your card drivers.

With Help from this forum about three months ago I was able to troubleshoot and fix issues with a defective installed Video Driver, but starting about a week ago once again I've been getting BSOD and also freeze-ups [without BSOD] that go to a Black Screen and then I need to reboot.

I had installed the latest Adobe flash upgrade minutes before this crash, after reboot system recommended a boot-up files fix from the menu that went on to restored the previous 'restore-point' configuration, apparently Flash was uninstalled [as Adobe/Flash requested a new install right after the reboot], unfortunately even so the system crashed a minute after again, this time I got a BSOD that reported something related to a Driver, unfortunately I forgot to do a screen-grab.

Hopefully this latest BSOD file dump is uploaded here, Could some one take a look and see which driver or what else could be causing a problem now?

Thanks

A:Sporatic BSOD and Black Screen Freeze-ups/Crash

Hi mackado,

I'm going to need 1 more log file to deduce the problem.

Please follow the steps below:
Go to: Start > Type: msconfig.exe - Press Enter
Go to the tab 'Boot'
Bottom of the window there are check-boxes, tick the one called 'Boot log'
Press Apply/OK
Shutdown the PC
Wait 10 seconds
Turn on PC
Go to - C:\Windows and find a file called ntbtlog.txt
Upload this file to this thread
Once you have uploaded the file, I will take a look and we'll see what we can do from there.

Hello... hope someone can help me.

I previously had a problem and it turned out to be a driver, everything has been running fine since then... up until now.

Runnning windows 7 and getting BSOD, a plain blue screen or blackscreen then quickly freezes up with a blank screen.

To best of my knowledge all drivers are updated.

Computer is Hewlett-Packard h8-1114 2.00
3.10 gigahertz Intel Core i5-2400
256 kilobyte primary memory cache
1024 kilobyte secondary memory cache
6144 kilobyte tertiary memory cache
64-bit ready
Multi-core (4 total)
Not hyper-threaded
Seems to only happen when I have firefox open, I tried clearing cache....no luck. Tried starting with fresh window, still crashes.

I ran the DM log colector v1.2 and attached the file.

Thank you very much,

Scott

Hi folks Signed up to the forum specifically to ask about this problem I'm having with my -month old laptop It's an Acer Aspire V - G Full specs are on my system specs page Basically I've been experiencing a combination of BSOD and System Freeze Crash problems several times on a daily basis over the past few weeks The first time experienced the BSOD was around three weeks after buying this laptop I just shrugged it off as a fluke at first but then it started becoming more frequent Random times Freeze several System and BSOD daily and now the system also just freezes out of the blue I haven't identified a specific pattern when it encounters a BSOD and when the system freezes The closest to a pattern that I can identify is that every morning when I wake up I wake up to my laptop already having the BSOD Totally clueless here I've attached the zip file Random BSOD and System Freeze several times daily of my diagnostic logs so that maybe one of you gurus out there can tell me what you think is going wrong with my system Rest assured when I wake up tomorrow my laptop will have the BSOD again if I leave it open

A:Random BSOD and System Freeze several times daily

Welcome,

While we wait for a BSOD analyst to help out further, it might help if you can check your system for corruptions.

Can you run a sfc /scannow from an elevated command prompt, and report back what it finds?

SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker

Hi Zappafrank,

Since you are able to boot your computer into safe mode, back up your files ASAP just in case something else happens which can cause your files to be in-accessible. Boot the computer into the recovery console and try to fix the master boot record.

Hope everything works out well for you.

Hi all,

My computer seems to crash, BSOD and freeze at random times. It seems to always crash after a few minutes of running on a fresh start. I've run Malwarebytes anti-malware scan and MSE Scan which found nothing. I've updated drivers, run Windbg, driver validater, disabled non-windows services, startup applications, bios updates, windows updates, memory check of 5 passes, disk checks, power checks with hwinfo, performance monitor reports and I've still not found any concrete evidence that there is anything wrong except that my computer blue screens for the heck of it.

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. I'd rather not reinstall, but I can if I have to. I think I may get an SSD before I do though.

Hi its been about a year im getting random crashes and BSODs with my Vaio laptop, I recently restored the laptop to factory settings, hoping that it would fix the problem, but its just getting worse.
I am getting BSOD about two times a day , doing every thing : playing warcraft, skyrim ; copying files from a drive to other drive, listening to music ,etc..
before I restored to factory settings, a BSOD was sometimes shown saying : A clock on a secondary processor was not received or sth like that. I thought it was my graphics card so i started trying all kinds of drivers bot of no use.

Now with my new systems I get random Blank screens with Grrrrrr ing sound and when i reboot, windows sometimes says
Problem signature:
Problem Event Name: BlueScreen

and that's it, I'm hopeless. I even cleaned all the dust in my laptop , not even overheating

So what can I do now?

A:Random Blank screen (BSOD detected after reboot),now frequent!

0x101 bugchecks (the "clock on secondary processor" one) cannot be analyzed with minidumps. Access to a kernel dump (the big MEMORY.DMP file in your Windows directory) are smallest dumps necessary to ascertain cause.

As for the other crashdump you provided, it was a 0x50 crashdump which is very common. What I can tell from looking at the minidump, it appears the contents in one of your CPU's registers got roughed up. What caused it, I cannot tell from this, but I would most likely venture to guess this is hardware, primarily your CPU at fault (especially since you just did a factory reset and it didn't resolve the problem). The CLOCK_WATCHDOG_TIMEOUT bugcheck from the other crashdump would also add as evidence to this. Unfortunately, given that this is a laptop, unless it's (doubtful) memory that's the problem here, you most likely have a failing CPU or motherboard, in which case the whole thing will need to be sent for servicing or replacement.

If you wish to be absolutely sure it's not memory, then run Memtest86+ on your system for at least 7 passes. Note that CPU problems can still potentially manifest themselves in this test, so don't take it as a 100% guarantee that it's your memory.

Resetting default scope
Instruction at address fffff800`02ec3fba attempted to read memory address held in the rcx register to copy a portion of its contents into eax register. The memory address read was bad. Minidumps can't tell why, and this looks like a legit address, so nothing initially appears wrong. Let's look at the code flow to see where rcx originally got this address in the first place (using Disassembly window and giving it the address of the faulting instruction as the offset):

Code:
nt!wcsrchr:
fffff800`02ec3fb4 4c8bc9 mov r9,rcx < r9 has a copy of rcx's contents
fffff800`02ec3fb7 4533c0 xor r8d,r8d
fffff800`02ec3fba 0fb701 movzx eax, word ptr [rcx] < this is faulting instruction
...
While we haven't found where rcx got its contents, we did see that we should have an exact copy of rcx in the r9 register, as rcx moved its contents into r9. Let's see what r9 register says:

Code:
2: kd> r
Last set context:
rax=000000000000f400 rbx=0000000000000000 rcx=fffffa800b7c3000

r14=0000000000000000 r15=0000000000000000
r9 does not match rcx. There is nothing that should've caused the contents to have changed, meaning the context of the thread got messed up or the register itself got messed up (most likely register). This is indicative of hardware failure (primarily CPU).

A:Random crashed, no BSOD, screen/sound freezes and reboot is required

This motherboard requires memory in pairs.  You cannot install 3 sticks.

Your memory should be installed in slots A1 and D2 this is probably your problem.

See page 23 of your manual for allowed memory configurations.

I seem to have a couple of common ones; one refers to attempting to write to a read-only memory area. Another talks about a clock interrupt. I stumbled on the jcgriff2 website with diagnostic tools and went through those steps and have three zip files with the results. I also updated drivers using Uniblue, and updated the Award BIOS, ran a memory check, and chkdsk.

I appreciate any help you guys can give. Since about Windows 95, I haven't really kept up on the technical side so much.

Thanks in advance.

I have had it set up for a bout a week, and the system is crashing more and more as time goes on. Its not even a blue screen per say, just my screen goes black and then it holds in place for a bit then shut down. I think it is creating a log however

i even googled almost everypiece of software on my pc if it could cause a bsod .
i do think the flashing underscores with the black screen have something to do with it
also it's my first time posting a minidump so i don't know if i'm doing it right.
hopefully you can help me because this thing is killing me
thanks and friendly greets

Hard to diagnose from a single minidump but it appears to be an attempt by your vga driver to write to read only memory ( a no-no). I would reinstall both your video driver and dcheck to see if there is a newer BIOS to flash.

As the title suggests, I have two problems:

When I start my laptop, it shows the HP logo, begins to boot and is almost instantly interrupted by a white screen that scrolls down from the top. It reboots right after the white screen.

I am able at the HP logo screen able to navigate to System Restore and that is where I run into my next problem.

When the System Restore window opens for confirmation it shows that "Local Disk (C) (System)" status: "Ready to restore" and the check-box next to it is checked.

The next line has a empty check-box for "Local Disk (C)" with the status: "The drive cannot be found."

I can also succesfully boot into Safe Mode with Networking. I can access all my files. Which leads me to believe that it is a hardware problem. Possibly the motherboard or graphics card.

Hi I've started recently having issues with my Asus laptop model x c It all began with couple of BSOD that were referring to hardware error but as they occurred when I witched WIFI I figured it was driver related re-installed driver and they went away Fast forward a few days now computer just Random freeze requiring 8.1 reboot, win randomly what I can see freezes with image and everything left and nothing happens till I Random freeze requiring reboot, win 8.1 reboot by taking battery out I can't move mouse or do anything at all I've also had issues starting PC up from the win hybrid shutdown with nothing but black screen greeting me leading to same Random freeze requiring reboot, win 8.1 battery reboot Memtest seemingly came back okay although I'll let it turn bit longer once I'm home drivers seems up to date no new software been installed recently antivirus scan came back clean Nothing seems abnormal with GPU CPU load or temp Chkdsk fixed some minor issues after first bsod but freezes continued I am attaching the last minidump file that seems to be pointing at hal dll as cause as well as the SF info However I can't save event viewer logs however as it gives quot The specified channel could not be found quot error so I had to manually export all critical and errors events in three separate files you can find in the events archive Any tips on how I should approach troubleshooting this or what may be the cause are greatly appreciated

Hi,

0x124 hardware stops. As you already know, that means hal.

Uninstall Avast, reboot, then use their removal tool to remove remnants. Set Windows Firewall and Windows Defender to Automatic and start them too.
Make sure there is no overclocking. Monitor temps to ensure within spec, clean fans if necessary. Update bios to newest. Use CPU-Z to compare Memory tab to SPD tab, to see if memory is set well.

Update these if possible:

Errors on a controller connected to a hard disk:
I suggest starting all troubleshooting with the following diagnostic tests. They'll save you a lot of time and heartache if there is a hardware failure, and you'll have the disks on hand in case you need them in the future:

Quote:

H/W Diagnostics:
Please start by running these bootable hardware diagnostics:
http://www.carrona.org/memdiag.html (read the details at the link)
http://www.carrona.org/hddiag.html (read the details at the link)

Also, please run one of these free, independent online malware scans to ensure that your current protection hasn't been compromised: http://www.carrona.org/malware.html (read the details at the link)

Then, download motherboard/chipset drivers, uninstall the current ones, and install the freshly downloaded one's.

You also have errors with your ATI video drivers, please do the following:
- download the Display Driver ONLY for your video card (NOT the Catalyst Control Center).
- uninstall all ATI stuff from your system through Control Panel...Programs...Uninstall a program.
- install the freshly downloaded Display Driver ONLY and see if that helps.

If not, post back for more suggestions.

fresh install of win10 x64 pro from usb using the media creator tool.

First off, I upgraded from win7 to win10, and the freezes with black screens started.

I reformated, did a fresh install from USB, same thing happened.

I assumed it might have been a failing hard disk, so I stuck a new hard drive in the machine, and am getting the same results.

thanks for any help!

A:fresh win10 x64 pro install random freezing, black screen, no bsod

just happened again. I have this PC connected to a TV via HDMI.

when the freeze occurs, i can tell I lose control of inputs (mouse/keyboard) and the screen turns black for a couple of seconds, returns for an instant (again frozen), and then goes black. audio seems to continue, but bugged out. the hard drive activity light stays solid. when the hard drive activity light stops, so does the audio.

here is the latest collection
*also i notice google chrome seems to bug out on me. randomly certain tabs will not load, and remain all white, and not respond.

Heya all I have a bit of a problem where I'm not sure whether it's driver related and playing random screen black whilst crashes LOTRO BSOD, or whether something is failing on my computer My husband seems to think it's driver related but although I can build my own computers when it comes to things like this I'm completely useless First off I can't remember whether I had this issue on my previous set when I first installed Windows or whether it's been just when I've upgraded my computer I just can't recall the first time I started having this problem The first thing I noticed was whenever BSOD, random crashes whilst playing LOTRO and black screen I exited playing a game my screen would go black with monitor message saying no video output and the green power button on my monitor would go orange and I would have turn off and then switch my monitor back on for the screen to come back up Then I noticed that it started doing it randomly when my computer was idle Again I would turn my monitor off and then back on again to get the screen back up During these times when this has happened I've never had to reset my computer I've recently updated my graphics drivers and the issue seems to be a little more often than not now and my husband thinks it's the graphics drivers that's causing it I've done a search on the internet and I've come across similar problems but requires a restart which could mean monitor failure or graphics card failure so I'm unsure as to whether it is driver related The second issue that I've been having is randomly when I play LOTRO EU client I've been having BSOD crashes that require a restart or the LOTRO client has stopped responding error and needs to shut down I've only had BSOD's over the last couple of months the first being when I downloaded the US Beta version of the game to see what DX looked like I thought that perhaps it was DX that was causing it so I disabled DX and didn't have another BSOD for a few weeks A couple of weeks later I was on the EU Live server and I had another BSOD unfortunately for these two BSOD's I haven't got the crash dump report to post up but I'd been having problems with my onboard sound drivers so I thought that could be the reason so I bought a xonar sound card and after that even the crashing and lotro has stopped responding errors stopped and I thought the problem had been fixed Last week I downloaded the preview client for the f p EU Version of LOTRO to help with the stress testing and I again enabled DX Within an hour I had a BSOD and this time I was able to get a crash report from WhoCrashed This is the error message On Tue your computer crashed This was likely caused by the following module ntoskrnl exe Bugcheck code x B xC xFFFFF FC F xFFFFF C A x Error SYSTEM SERVICE EXCEPTION Dump file C Windows Minidump - - dmp file path C Windows system ntoskrnl exe product Microsoft Windows Operating System company Microsoft Corporation description NT Kernel amp System The crash took place in a standard Microsoft module Your system configuration may be incorrect possibly the culprit is in another driver on your system which cannot be identified at this time Which looks like it is indeed a driver issue which is what has been suggested on the LOTRO forums I don't know whether the screen going black and these problems I have with LOTRO are related at all to the Nvidia drivers causing me issues but any help and feedback as to why this is happening would be much appreciated One thing I'm wondering if my monitor was going could that cause an error like this in LOTRO Or is it more likely if it is faulty hardware to be my graphics card Both my monitor and graphics card are less than a year old so I should be able to RMA them if I need to it's just finding out which one needs replacing if it is a hardware fault I hope that I've made sense here and that you can all understand this Also my computer set up is Windows bit Gigabyte Technology Co Ltd GA- T-USB gigahertz AMD Phenom II X Corsair W... Hi

The system started freezing when I was watching videos on VLC and WMP, usually 20 min into the movie/clip. The screen freezes completely and the sound from the movie/clip gets distorted and looped until I hard reboot. This has also occuried some times now and then even when browsing pictures on this forum. However it has never frozen when I watch a stream on youtube or other streaming sites. Does this sound like something that could be fixed?

Here are my specs:

Operating System :Windows 7 Home Premium Home Edition Media Center 6.01.7600 (32-bit)
Mainboard : Acer JM70
Chipset : Intel PM45
Processor : Intel Mobile Core 2 Duo T6600 @ 2200MHz
Physical Memory : 4096MB (2 x 2048 DDR3-SDRAM )
Video Card : NVIDIA GeForce GT 130M
Hard Disk 1: Hitachi HTS545050B9A300 (500GB)
Hard Disk 2: Hitachi HTS545050B9A300 (500GB)

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

A:Vista freeze must hard reboot to fix, help

There are already al lot of thread about Vista hanging "without" reasons. Just use the search option. Keep knowledge bundled! Look into your logfiles (admin tools) and see if you have the same issues. The worst of all is often... nothing to do about it if MS keeps ignoring the problems!:

vista freezes randomly

Happy Thanksgiving all!

My issue is I am rebooting Windows XP from the manufactures CD. Everything runs fine until the install reaches "(5/68) Big Fix 2.0.2.3 GTW 11-17-75 (Windows Setup Installation) Version 1.3.7.5". When the install reaches this point nothing else happens. It stays in this screen. I can hear some clicking in the computer and when I open the Task Manager it shows qInstall is running.

In the Process tab I see I/O Other, I/O Other Bytes & I/O Write Bytes numbers increasing at a slow rate. The CPU is running at 2%. Also the bottom shows Process 26 Commit Charge 110M/3810M. This install has been running for appx. 25 hours now. I have done a reboot in the past without any troubles but I am at a lost here.

I have a strange problem that seems to happen completely at random My monitor Random goes and freeze black PC freezes sort of so that even though I can still move the mouse arrow around the screen I am unable to click on anything The monitor then goes totally black for a few seconds before everything returns to normal There seems to be no pattern to this Random freeze and monitor goes black it can happen within minutes of turning on the PC or may happen hours later It can happen very frequently several times within a few minutes or go hours without incident I dont know where to start as my attempts to Google similar symptoms didnt really work The PC is fairly old about years and is on its second PSU and second monitor but both have worked fine for some time I have an AMD ghz with mb RAM XP SP I dont use it for anything other than browsing and simple Excel no gaming or downloading etc Other than this the PC runs fine though it takes an age to boot up and I am fairly sure it is free from viruses If this problem sounds familiar to any of you any help would be gratefully appreciated Thanks nbsp

A:Random freeze and monitor goes black

if the monitor goes blank how do you know it is also freezing?
try go to control panel power options alter turn off monitor to "never".....alter anything else to suit! and you can do it if the power options did'nt work then

... tap "F8" key @ boot-up select "safe mode" using arrow keys [press ENTER]

... once in safe mode click "no" on the "pop-up" that should guide you to system restore

... select a restore point by altering the restore calendar to a time when the pc was working fine.

It appears a recently installed AMD driver is causing a fault with the DX driver; However, a TDR can be caused by your video card overheating. Use a temperature monitoring utility such as HWinfo64 to check the system temperatures. If you are overclocking the card, STOP overclocking until the problem is located.

Forgot to mention: Report back on your system temps.

This is driving me crazy.

Right after I boot my laptop, the screen flashes randomly.

Also something is stealing focus from what I am working on to something else.

Then it likes to suddenly go to a grey screen. I have to manually reboot.

If that is not enough, it like to just reboot.

Scanned with my AVG and Kaspersky, nothing found. Tried TrendMicro House Call, nothing. Dr. Web, nothing.

All drivers are up to date.

I have run it in the safe mode for about an hour with no problems. No new software installed recently. I went to restore and it was only dated from the previous day, so no help there.

I would prefer not to Nuke and pave, but if that what I need to do, I can.

Any thoughts, theories, explosives you can recommend for this?

I await with enlarging piles of hair as I pull it out.
Roger

Hi everyone,

I've had voltage issues causing my computer to freeze or reboot during games and dvds. Fixed that and the computer was fine after memtest showing no problems. That was late Dec.

A few days ago, the computer would go to a blue screen saying it's dumping physical memory and then automatically reboots. Thinking my harddisk might be collapsing on me (I have a seagate barracuda 7200.11 500Gb HD with the SD15 firmware, the infamous crash friendly HD), I flash the HD with the SD1A firmware from seagate, then it was fine. 2days later, Catalyst started to cause problems by not responding, so I formated the drive and reinstalled vista ultimate, along with Catalyst, drivers from Mobo manufacturer ASUS, plus a couple of other softwares. That was yesterday, and now I'm getting the same blue screen back, or the computer just freezes.

Does anybody know what's wrong. It's happened a few times so I'm a bit worried.

So I think I'm screwed.

I've searched the forum, I've googled and tried lotsa stuff.

Ok, first I was facing BSOD. So I tried going in by every type of safe mode,
But it doesn't work, I just go to a black screen with moving cursor and I can't
Open the Task Manager.

So I tried system restore, failed with the CD. Then I tried the Grub4dos thing
It failed as well. It just brings me to the black screen with white cursor.

Also when I start in safe mode, it stucks at classpnp.sys and after awhile
It goes to BSOD and reboots.

By the way this all started when I installed a game, Dishonored.

Thanks, please help me! I got this prob on two laptops. And one is my dad's!!

Edited: the BSOD is 0x00000ED
Both are toshiba.

Computer was working great and also noticed during check disk orphaned WerFaultSecure.exe was restored.... HUMMMMMM

Please help if you can...

A:Blue Screen/freeze and no reboot

Looks like its caused by your Super Anti Spyware
Uninstall using the uninstall tool if any.
The best combination of Software, used by me and many others is:
Microsoft Security Essentials
Malwarebytes
and Spyblaster
If you paid for AntiSpyware, the money is gone
might as well use some of the best and the same money is gone.

Make a system restore point before making changes so that you can go back if not satisfied.

This is ridiculous After over a week and thinking I had all my problems solved in my other thread driver verifier iomanager violation BSOD loop on starup it's even worse now This time my BSOD came from having chrome open while rendering in Premiere It would do this every time so I turned off chrome while rendering and I wouldn't get any I never had any problems with games I did notice Chrome would stutter with Facebook open but nothing else would cause issues The last render windows System Screen BSOD loading and Black Service Exception while I did rendered out I then opened chrome and my computer froze I System Service Exception BSOD and Black Screen while loading windows tried to boot in and it froze after I loaded in to the desktop I then set the BIOS to default settings and turned off AMD cool and quiet and AMD turbo Now after the ASUS System Service Exception BSOD and Black Screen while loading windows splash loading screen pops up it goes to a black screen Rebooting a million times and trying to repair did not work The other monitor doesn't even get a signal Leaving the computer off with no power for awhile did not work either which always fixed it before checking the disks everything seemed fine Safe mode blue screens everytime too within a minute if it even boots up to begin with I really have no idea what is going on

From the title of the previous thread it appears that you have enabled driver verifier there. Is it still enabled? Make it sure that it is not.

Driver verifier can cause this situation by its own virtue.

Hello, as the title says Im having problems with freezes/BSOD shortly after I turn on my computer every day. Takes about 30m to get past always.

The problem can occur during any activity whether Im not doing anything on my computer, or have not even logged into my windows user. After a couple of restarts it will however make it past 10m without errors and not experience any problems until it's turned off again.

During these restarts it will occationally attempt to boot, turn itself off and then on again. It will occationally take longer (couple of seconds) to load the OS.

Sometimes the screen+sound will just freeze and never respond and I have to cut the power but occationally Im lucky enough to find a minidump file.
Ran harddrive checks and memory (not 1 by 1). Temperatures are low according to software.

Hope I have been detailed enough, file is attached below and Iv filled out most computer specs.

One day i woke my computer out of sleep and almost nothing left up from the previous evening worked. I could navigate a little. Couldn't get to the start menu; couldn't get to task manager. I had to do a hard reboot and left it down for 15 seconds. But when the computer came back up, it restored everything that was previously running, as if nothing out of the ordinary had happened. And then everything worked. Is this expected behavior in Win 7?

Thanks,

A:system freeze after wake; reboot; all apps restored - normal??

It sounds like it was Hibernate and not Sleep in this case. Desktop computers often come with Hybrid Sleep, so if Sleep fails(power's been cut off) then Hibernate will restore your apps from disk. Sleep only restores from memory.

Hey all,
I am having problems with the screen freeing when running multiple windows (Chrome, office etc etc). When I try to swap between windows, I get a freeze and I am unable to do anything.
The cursor can be seen moving around the screen but has no effect in any area. The Windows Key doesn't ppear, nor can I tab into another programme.
If I try and start task manager to see which program is causing this, it will not appear over the frozen image.
Is there a way of telling from an event log what program is failing?

Hi there,

For a little while now I have had trouble with my computer locking up randomly, this usually occurs while I am watching a video of some sort or playing a video game. But I have also come back to it being on with nothing running only to find it has locked up again. These lock up require that I hard reset the computer in order to un-freeze it. I have tried several debugging techniques such as Running Memtest86+ for 18 hours even though the ram I have is relatively new. I have also tried wiping both of my hard drives, the SSD and 1TB slave drive, then clean installing windows 10. At this point I am just not sure what it could be and would appreciate any help or friendly advice. Thank you.

I've been recently experiencing crashes shortly after booting in Win the problem only happens within - - min of booting So reboot, shortly after boot Crashes BSOD) (freeze, after several initial crashes it almost always will finally go on working without a hitch for the rest of the day Which could be - hours working normally this therefore makes me think it's not an overheating problem The problem has recently gotten worse and now I can never even boot once without it crashing at least once within that time frame Either or all of the following symptoms could occur in one session freeze completely reboot on it's own or a BSOD either while on or on the reboot At it's worst I think it took at least or crashes to get it running ok Yesterday and today have been good with only the one obligatory startup crash which has been the instant reboot Although I do remember that the early symptoms were more a complete freeze forcing me to do the reboot myself Crashes (freeze, reboot, BSOD) shortly after boot One other interesting fact I should mention is when I once ran the Windows Memory Diagnostics that runs before Windows boot I ran it with the extended options as it had previously passed runs of the normal test and it froze then too Crashes (freeze, reboot, BSOD) shortly after boot At least I think it did There is a message displayed saying that during testing the PC might appear to be frozen but I couldn't invoke either of Crashes (freeze, reboot, BSOD) shortly after boot the two available commands Exit and Options so I assume it really was frozen And that leads me to believe - correct me if I'm wrong - that maybe it's hardware related since it happened BEFORE the OS was loaded Am I right I just find the symptoms hard to understand if it is a hardware failure why does it only fail on startup Doesn't make sense to me Despite having it configured for create dump files it almost never does And I can't Restore either because I discovered that although my system was configured to create Restore points for some reason the space allocated to that was Maybe because Windows dynamically allocates space for Restore according to available HD space And since I've often found myself with almost only a few Mbs left maybe then Windows didn't re-increase the space after I made some available Here are two photos I did of BSOD I got there were others with different messages So any thoughts

A:Help! Black Screen after freeze

when you get the error message, make a note of the error code then post again. if the blue screen is not up long enough try and take a picture of it (it works you just have to be quick lol).

when we have the code it will be easier to figure out.

Hi -

What web browser are you using? (Internet Explorer, Firefox, Chrome etc)

Just looks like your saved form information within your browser has been deleted. If, you log back in to these sites (Facebook, TSF etc) and accept any dialog (or checkbox) that asks you whether you want the form information (username/password etc) to be saved that should take things back to how there were before.

As for the black screen, it is difficult to tell what caused in, however if it should happen again, reply here, and I will attempt to assist in finding the cause/solution.

Let me know how you get on.

Regards, - GJ

If it is only her account and you are sure the computer is virus free, the easiest thing to do would probably be to create a new user account.

Hello, I'm having an issue with my PC I've put together and am not sure what is causing it. When I am playing games Like Team Fortress 2 and Command and conquer my PC locks up with a black screen and sound loop. There is no particular time when it happens, sometimes it takes an hour or two and then happens every ten to fifteen minutes. and sometimes it happens after twenty minutes and sometimes it doesn't happen at all. I can leave my computer on for hours and no problems, only when I play games. Anyone have any Ideas?

A:Black screen freeze up

If it only happens when you are playing games, and at different times during the games, it's probably a graphics card issue. You may want to install and graphics card fan to keep the temp down, or possibly consider upgrading your graphics card.

I would first suggest running a quick diagnostic on it, search for the burn in diagnostic tool from the downloads section of the site and let it run, it will test your graphics card.

Hi people and thanks for helping
I have an issue for 2 days now... my computer freeze almost every hour. I have to cold reboot it, reset reboot does'nt work.
After a moment, it says "insert a bootable drive....."
So : my system drive is a Crucial M4 SSD 256 Go on a SATA 6G intel controller (i had to change the controller from a MARVELL one that causes real BSOD's)
My date drive is a Seagate Barracuda 2T0 on the same 6G intel controller

Surprisingly, the event monitor tells me that the marvell mv91xx.sys could not be loaded !! (i have to say that i disabled the MARVELL SATA controller in the bios)

Can anybody help me ?
Oups ! Almost one hour ! i 'm gonna freezz !!
Cheers

Hello As the title says The computer is newly built component list you will find bellow Anyhow never had this issue with any other computers i have built in the past Got the problem as soon as i had installed windows ultimate and put all the parts together obviously The problem is that even after following all the instructions and also google ing on it windows seems unable to dump the kernel Yes i have followed the guide from forums and i have no issues with the page file size or such since its larger than the total sum of ram I did run 41 sleep/hibernate Computer after freeze/BSOD/reboot error the SF Diagnostic Tool anyways even tho it could not find any dump to read since windows saved none tho i doubt it will be of much help without it Windows seems to throw error kernel power which you can also find in the eventlist in the zip I have read an insane amount of similar threads on different forums trying to find the cause and fix for this problem The only thing Computer freeze/BSOD/reboot after sleep/hibernate error 41 that i have come close to understanding is that its most likely software related that some kind of driver fails This would also make sense since upon resuming from sleep the computer wakes up and shows the loginscreen in windows but upon Computer freeze/BSOD/reboot after sleep/hibernate error 41 pressing ENTER or such the computer first freeze then BSOD and then reboots I cannot however resume windows from the saved quot point quot so i have to throw it away upon boot and start from quot scratch quot similar issues with hibernate Tho i never get to the login window Anyone have any idea of how i can solve this or how i at the very least can get windows to dump the kernel The computer works in a flawless manner apart from this I have followed these guides Dump Files - Configure Windows to Create on BSOD SF Diagnostic Tool - Using for Troubleshooting Component list INTEL CORE I GHZ MB S- IVY EVGA GEFORCE GTX TI BOOST SC GB ASUS P H -M PRO H S- M-ATX IVY CORSAIR GB DDR VENGEANCE PC - MHZ CL WESTERN DIGITAL CAVIAR GREEN TB SATA MB COOLER MASTER SILENT PRO M ATX V W

A:Computer freeze/BSOD/reboot after sleep/hibernate error 41

The zip you uploaded does not contain any crash dump. Though you have tried, try it once more.

Follow it: Dump Files - Configure Windows to Create on BSOD
Go to Option Two, Point 2. Download the .reg file and merge it in registry by double clicking it.

Now wait for another BSOD. When it occurred, search the .dmp files manually in the default path: C:\Windows\Minidump or %SystemRoot%\Minidump. See if the crash dump is recorded or not (hopefully it will be recorded).Post it following the Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) Posting Instructions.

Dont run any disc cleanup program before you upload another zip.

Trying to understand the situation from your statement above. What is the Bugcheck code? Is it 9F?

BTW, it is a desktop computer as you said. So sleep/hibernate is not anything needed there. Those mechanism are for laptops which run on battery power. You may easily disable sleep.
Start > Control Panel > Power Options.
On existing plan, click on "Change Plan Settings.
Attachment 273099
Click on the time beside Put computer to sleep. Set it to never. Save changes.
Attachment 273102
Now run the computer normally. Is it BSODing any more? Let us know.
