I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

So been having recurring Bluescreens for a long time. They went away after I reduced the overclock as they were usually hal.dll errors but now I am getting ntoskrnl.exe errors. Any help?

Edit: Could it be my GPU because the Core Clock was 50Hz higher than default?

My CPU is also overclocked but shouldn't be the problem I think

Welcome to SF

WOW, 32 GB of ram is allot what are you going to do with all that?
Anyway, your dumps point toward defective/corrupted memory.

No need to test with memtest86+ right away, I would suggest you to manually
test each stick on different slots of your computer to identify the bad one.

For more information on your bug check go through the guide below:

Greetings,
recenlty i upgraded my pc,i changed everything but the graphic cart.So far so good.I did format and installed win 7 x32 bit first. All worked fine till i started playing games. Then while in games i would get bsod, tried 2-3 games all with the same result. So i started stress testing my hardware.furmark,occt,prime95,hds, all was good.I did format again and installed win 7 x64 now,the problem stayed.Third format i installed win 8,1 not on the ssd on the hdd just to test the problem remains. But now a window pops up that says "display driver stopped responding and has recovered" mostly,it even appeared while i was just browsing.Today after 3 days using win 8,1 i got my first bsod.

P.S i have tried numerous drivers, and various other fixes i saw on the internet no luck.

So here is my SF Diagnostic Tool file

This bugcheck is particularly caused by the ATI Drivers.

Please run the Display Driver Uninstaller using this **LINK** and then completely uninstall your ATI Drivers. Once it is done, please reboot the system.
After the restart, install the Drivers which came when you purchased the GPU which comes generally in a Driver CD. See if this resolves the problem or not.

Also, your BIOS is dated 2010, I would suggest you to check the manufacturer for any updates. Please do not update the BIOS as of now, let me know if there is any update or not.

Also, have you tried running the system after removing the Graphics Card physically from the system?

Let me know how it goes ^_^

Hi. . .

All 6 dumps had bugcheck 0x124 - Machine Check Exception - definitely unknown hardware failure.

0x124 BSODs are notoriously difficult to solve because the cause is simply "unknown hardware failure". The dumps nor system info submitted cannot even hint at the piece of hardware that has failed.

Unfortunately, the dumps are incapable of telling us which piece of hardware has failed. Dumps are only good for figuring out software problems.

All I can really do here is to give you some hardware diagnostic programs to run.RAM - memtest86+ - run 1 stick at a time; alternate the slots - https://www.sysnative.com/forums/har...memtest86.html
HDD - SeaTools for DOS, LONG test - https://www.sysnative.com/forums/har...agnostics.html
FurMark video card test - https://www.sysnative.com/forums/har...ress-test.html
Prime95 CPU - https://www.sysnative.com/forums/har...s-testing.html

The problem may also be with other hardware parts such as the motherboard or PSU for which there are no software tests.

I'm sorry that I could not really help here.

Take the system back and demand a new one. They can't deny the existence of the 0x124 BSODs. It is up to them to remedy this problem.

Regards. . .

jcgriff2

But after a while i got those BlueScreens, so i made a complete clean install of Windows and Drivers (MoBo, nVidia...).
Again everything was fine, but after 1 Week i got those BlueScreens again, and now i just dont know why i get these.
I hope someone can help me and sry for my english^^' (someone speaking German would be nice too! )

Hi! I've been getting BSODs while playing XCom - Enemy Within and Heroes of the Storm, and today I got one at desktop after a hard restart I got while playing one of those games. My PC is about half a year old and I've checked to see if the hardware and cables were properly connected. I don't think it's overheating either as I get it after 10 minutes in those games almost everytime, and it doesn't crash in f.ex. Dark Souls 2. I've verified game files for XCom in steam several times, but it doesn't find anything wrong, and it doesn't fix it. I very recently updated both audio and video drivers, but the errors keep coming the exact same way as before I updated.

DM Log Collector ZIP attached.

Please help.

A:BSOD playing some games and even once on the desktop. Error 0x00000124

As you already know, you're receiving 0x124 STOPs, theses denote a hardware error. As is usually the case though the dumps are giving away nothing in regards which piece of hardware is problematic. The usual line of investigation here is to run a series of stress and diagnostic tests.

STOP 0x124 Troubleshooting

   Warning
Read carefully before proceeding.

   Warning
If you're overclocking your system, revert back to stock clocks now.

   Note
Test the system once the overclock is removed before continuing with the steps outlined below.

ONE

 CPU TEST

Run Prime95 to stress test your CPU. Hardware - Stress Test With Prime95

   Warning
Your CPU temperatures will rise quickly while under this stress test. Keep a keen eye on them and abort the test if your CPU overheats.

TWO

 RAM TEST

Run MemTest86+ to analyse your RAM. RAM - Test with Memtest86+

MemTest86+ needs to be run for at least 8 passes for conclusive results. Set it running before you go to bed and leave it overnight. We're looking for zero errors here. Even a single error will indicate RAM failure.[/note]

THREE

 HDD TEST

Run SeaTools to check the integrity of your HDD. SeaTools for DOS and Windows - How to Use

Run chkdsk Disk Check

FOUR

 GPU TEST

Run Furmark to stress test your GPU. Video Card - Stress Test with Furmark

   Note
Run Furmark for around 30 minutes.

   Warning
Your GPU temperatures will rise quickly while Furmark is running. Keep a keen eye on them and abort the test if your card overheats.

I have added my dump files thanks

A:BSOD playing games like MW3 or BF3, error (0x0000001e, 0x00000124)

Hello,

Most of the crashdumps are WHEA errors reporting that there was failure of bank 5 in the L1 cache on your CPU. The banks are pretty consistent, which would have mean evidence leans heavily on it very well being your CPU suffering permanent damage. The other couple of crashdumps that aren't WHEA errors are inconclusive, as minidumps do not retain the information necessary to do a deeper dive.

First of all, before anything else, if you have your system overclocked in any way, shape or fashion, reset all of it to factory defaults. Even if your system has previously been stable with OCed settings, it can aggressively cause wear on your CPU and other hardware that will reduce their life, and your CPU may have just started suffering from it as a result.

Just to be extra sure, first I noticed that you have some motherboard utility software installed (like Asus PCprobe). Often times I've found WHEA errors that report bad CPU issues have actually been caused by bugs in motherboard utility software. Usually this software is gimmicky, or is better left done with alternative 3rd-party software options that are more reliable. If you still feel determined to keep your motherboard software installed, at least go to the appropriate website (Asus) and download any updates for all of your motherboard's related software, its drivers, and its BIOS (just to be on the safe side). If problems persist, you may need to remove the motherboard utilities just in case (keep all the drivers).

In addition to this, on rare occasion I've found video driver bugs to cause this (which is unusual from a technical standpoint, but happens). I did notice your ATI drivers are from Dec 2011, so you may wanna try and update those.

Lastly, you may check your CPU with Prime95. Set it to Torture Test with Large FFTs and let it run for about 9+ hours. If your system BSODs during it, send the resulting crashdump. Otherwise, if you see any errors you can start betting that it's the CPU that's being problematic (though no errors at all does not 100% ensure your CPU is ok). If you wish to see if voltage (PSU) or temp is being an issue, you can use HWinfo with Sensors only option checked to see. Log two 30-minute sessions: one during idle and one during high load. Send the resulting logs. If your system crashes during one of them, don't worry, it'll log up to the latest point before the crash. Send the resulting logs for analysis.

Given the information so far, I'm pretty heavily set on it being CPU failure, but these are all just measures to make sure anything else isn't the cause.

Hello ettApa and welcome to Sevenforums.

BSOD Analyse

There's a few things to look at when we're dealing with the 0x124.
Any sort of overclocking should be stopped. Overclocking is obviously producing a lot of heat. Also make sure that you're not having a motherboard feature that overclocks your computer automatically.
Make sure that your computer is running cool. Install Speccy for instance, and make sure that the temperature idle is stable. Also track down weird or noisy sounds.
In your case, BIOS is updated. That should remain.
Windows 7 may have bugs in the OS if you ain't updating. Make sure that Windows Update is running on automatic updates, and not manual, or the 'never' feature.
If you haven't stress tested your CPU, I suggest doing so with Prime for instance.

Quote:
Prime is a stress testing tool for CPU's.
Details below.

Hardware - Stress Test With Prime95

Install the so called, Vanilla Windows. Windows without any additional software and drivers. It's usually a good idea to do, for excluding parts of the PC.
Consider replacing your computer if nothing works, and it's still under warranty of course.

Code:
WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR (124)
A fatal hardware error has occurred. Parameter 1 identifies the type of error
source that reported the error. Parameter 2 holds the address of the
WHEA_ERROR_RECORD structure that describes the error conditon.
Arguments:
Arg1: 0000000000000000, Machine Check Exception
Arg2: fffffa80073ea028, Address of the WHEA_ERROR_RECORD structure.

Arg4: 0000000000040402, Low order 32-bits of the MCi_STATUS value.
When we're done with this we'll go further when you're ready.

Best Regards,
Frederik.

So during April, I started building a computer. After I building my computer I had no problems at all with it, but after a few start ups and shutdowns it just began to shut off randomly when I played games, like Skyrim and Payday 2. I have no idea what to do. Please help.

Are you overclocking? As you are getting BSODs, you should stop overclocking and run all the hardware components like CPU, GPU and RAM to their default settings. Also set the BIOS to default, too.

Test your RAM modules for possible errors. How to Test and Diagnose RAM Issues with Memtest86+
Run memtest86+ for at least 8 consecutive passes.

If it start showing errors/red lines, stop testing. A single error is enough to determine that something is going bad there.

Recently I have been getting crashes while playing games. The screen will go black and the sound will lag and then it will crash. This does not persist outside of gaming. Crashes usually happen about 5-10 minutes within the session. I've updated my video driver and directx and ran a few passes with the windows RAM test with no errors. I've also reset my computer to factory conditions and instead of a "ntoskrnl.exe" driver crash the dump files now says its "hal.dll" issue. I downloaded software from western digital to test my hard drive and nothing came up. I'm at a loss here. Any suggestions?

While playing multiple games such as 7 days to die, counter strike, league of legends, Dota 2, Starcraft 2, and many others my computer will often randomly get a BSOD, sometimes during an intense part of the game or when I am simply walking somewhere. I've gotten error code 0x00000101 and I got 0x00000124 after using Verifier.

This has been happening for about a year, my brother told me that it was probably my power supply but after I looked into the error codes more I saw that these error codes are mostly for driver errors. This is where I was stumped. I know a little about computers but I had no idea how to find a corrupt driver or even how to find out if that was the problem. Any help would be great. Thanks.

A:BSOD while playing multiple games error code 0x00000101 and 0x00000124

Hello and welcome Connor I take it is Connor I cannot see much in the dump files mate but you do mention your brother has queried the PSU now you can check that with this
Using HW Info
You can test the volts on the PSU with HW Info HWiNFO, HWiNFO32/64 - Download < download the right bit version and close the right hand window select Sensors and scroll down to the power section where you will see what the volts are doing see my pic.
The original right hand window shows the machine running and is handy for that but for looking at the components in some detail close it and use the main left hand side panel
FOR OTHER COMPONENTS
Open each + down into the component itself and then click on it - in the right hand side will appear all sorts of details including brands speeds and other essential info that device. See pic for example it is of my own Ivy Bridge desktop and you need to scroll to that section which gives the volts send a pic if you can please - this is just for starters.

Hi l3uster.

Sincere apologies for such a belated response. I was not very active in the technical threads for a few days due to some personal reasons.

Can you uninstall the MotioninJoy simulate Xbox 360 controller (virtual Xinput device) driver, and install an earlier version? The version that you are using is crash prone; it is a very widely seen issue; and it is failing in your case, too.

Dell 15RSE running 8.1 64bit.

If the machine is left it reboots when it hits the "turn screen off" time in power settings. If kept active it is stable and does not crash.

The machine has two graphics chips as seems to be the trend nowadays - both drivers updated to latest versions but the problem persists.

I did have a windows update fail and roll back a couple of weeks ago, don't know if this is relevant.

REGISTRY_ERROR is shown in system events, if I look at the dump logs with bluescreenview they report its the kernel that falls over with address 153fa0.

If this is a driver I don't know which one - I assume graphics but there is an intel and AMD driver. Installing the latest ones made no difference so I'm a bit lost.

thanks for any help.

This is my first time posting here, so my apologies if I mess something up or get it wrong. If I do, please let me know so I can fix it!
This is something that's just started happening recently. It happened once on the 14th of February, then once last night (on the 22nd), and today on the 23rd. The crash on the 14th didn't have the same screen as the last two crashes (photo attached of crash screen). I don't recall what the crash on the 14th happened during (most likely Skyrim), but the last two crashes happened during playing minecraft, typically while moving around and jumping. I have downloaded a couple of mods for the game, but was not running them when the crashes happened (the mods have a separate launcher, plus the crash occurred once before I ever played Minecraft).

I appreciate any help anyone can give me!

Your .dmp file shows a stop error of 0x124 which is a general hardware error .

Quote:
A "stop 0x124" is fundamentally different to many other types of bluescreens because it stems from a hardware complaint.

Stop 0x124 minidumps contain very little practical information, and it is therefore necessary to approach the problem as a case of hardware in an unknown state of distress

Some generic advice.

If you are overclocking STOP.
Return to the default settings at least for now.

If you are running a RAID update its driver.

Hello-

I would love to get some assistance with my recent BSOD issues (I have recently starting seeing them while playing WoW). It can happen anywhere between 5 minutes to hours into playing. My computer is a custom build, no overclocking, and has been stable since I built it (2 months). I have made no recent hardware or software changes.

MB: AsRock Z77 Extreme 4 LGA1155
CPU: Intel i5 2500k
RAM: GSkills Ripjaw DDR3 1600
GPU: Nvidia GTX 650 Ti

I've attached my SF zip file. Please let me know what addition information I can provide.

Thank you!

Update: I am still getting BSOD 0x124 after trying the following:

1. Ran Memtest86 for 12 hours, no errors.
2. Ran a torture test, all internal temps never rose above 55C.
3. Updated GPU, USB, SATA and audio drivers.

I've also attached the last two minidump files.

Any help would be very much appreciated! Thanks!

Edit:
Ran msched, which found no issues.

I also tried updating my BIOS (from 2.80 to 2.90), and the system become more unstable - I could no longer load windows normally (could only load in safe mode). I have reverted back to 2.80 and can now boot normally again.

Not sure what to try next.

BSOD's seem to be becoming quite a regular occurance, first ones where usually when playing MMO's with TS/Mumble active but recently they have been happening whilst watching streams and at other random times.

Windows 7 Home Premium x64

Intel Core i5-2500K CPU @ 3.30GHz

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460

Not really that clued up on computers but I will try my best to answer an questions you need to know.

Please tell me what to do cause i spend too much money and time in this pc and i have something that i cannot use.

A:BSOD ntoskrnl.exe+153fa0 and monitor that turn off

Please start by running these free hardware diagnostics: Hardware Diagnostics
Also, please run Driver Verifier according to these instructions: Driver Verifier Settings

There are numerous different error codes in the uplioaded memory dumps. The differing error codes are usually symptomatic of a lower level problem within the system. They are usually caused by one of these things:
- borked (broken) hardware (several different procedures used to isolate the problem device)
- BIOS issues (check for updates at the motherboard manufacturer's website)
- overclocking/overheating - You'll know if you're overclocking or not. If uncertain we can suggest things to check.
- compatibility issues (3rd party hardware/drivers)
- low-level driver problems
- or even malware (scanned for when we ask for hardware diagnostics from Initial Hardware Diagnostics or Hardware Diagnostics ).

The system is very well taken care of, and most of the drivers have been updated to recent versions. As such, hardware is the most likely problem. I asked you to run Driver Verifier just in case there is a low-level driver function problem.

Let us know the results of these tests and we'll move on from there.

Hey

the bsod happens usually when saving or closing a file in MS word.
Less bsod after installing Update KB2887595 on 24/03, but still too much

Do you have any ideas for fixing the errors? Thanks a million..

Hello!

I had problems before when i got bccodes 124 when playing BF4 and Rome 2 more when playing BF4.

So i bought a Corsair H60 Hydro cooler and i could then play BF4 for about 2-3 days without any bluescreens then last night it started again and since then i had 2 last night 1 this morning.

A:BSOD playing BF4 and heavy games 0x00000124

Hi,

I am not an expert on BSODs. But, 0x124 is the CPU telling Windows there was an uncorrectable hardware error presented to it by the motherboard or something attached. You can check for CPU temps with CPU Z. If you have any hardware that is overclocked, put it back to stock and check.

I get random crashes usually while playing more graphics intensive games but sometime out of the blue. I've had multiple crashing problems ever since I've had this compute but It hasn't inconvienced me much. I upgraded to windows 10 and it seems to pretty much only crash while doing graphic intensive things such as playing GTA V. However, I usually don't get a BSOD. I'll get a solid color (typically red) or just a reboot screen.

It sends the error code:
0x00000124

I've attached the crash files.
some specs that aren't listed on my profile:
Storage: Samsung 120GB SSD and a Seagate 500GB hard drive
Wifi: TP-Link something ask if you want details
PSU: 500 watt cooler master
Cpu cooler: Corsair water cooling (so overheating probably isn't a problem )

BugCheck 0x124

You have a 0x124 hardware bugcheck. If the system is still under warranty, I would recommend sending it in to have diagnostic tests done and any bad hardware replaced.

   Warning
Before you proceed with the following, answer these two questions: Are you still under warranty? Does your warranty allow you to open up the machine to check hardware? If you are unsure of the answers to these questions, contact your system manufacturer. WARNING: The steps that follow can void your warranty!!!
For your hardware stop 0x124 crash, read through Stop 0x124 - what it means and what to try - Windows 7 Help Forums and use the following hardware checks to supplement that link.

If you are overclocking any hardware, please stop.
If you have an SSD, make sure the following are up to date:SSD firmwareBIOS VersionChipset DriversHard disk controller drivers/SATA driversIf you have a Marvell IDE ATA/ATAPI device, make sure the drivers are up to date from the Intel site or Marvell site and not from your motherboard/vendor support site.
Run all but the advanced tests with SeaTools for HDDs. SeaTools for Windows

SeaTools for DOSMonitor temperatures during the following tests.
Use the following programs to monitor the temperatures.Real Temp is a good CPU temperature monitor.Speccy - System Information - Free Download will monitor all hardware temperatures.HWiNFO, HWiNFO32 & HWiNFO64 - Hardware Information and Analysis Tools can be inaccurate for CPU temperatures, but is a good program for GPU temperature monitoring.
Use FurMark: VGA Stress Test, Graphics Card and GPU Stability Test, Burn-in Test, OpenGL Benchmark and GPU Temperature | oZone3D.Net to test the graphics card GPU. Let it run until the GPU temperatures even out or until the GPU temperatures reach a dangerous level (you can find the max temperature for your card on either the nVidia or AMD sites; if you are not sure, ask us). The goal is to get a steady temperature, find out if the GPU is overheating, or to see if there are any artifacts present in the test itself: look for strange pixelated patterns on the screen or colors that do not look like they belong. Then use the |MG| Video Memory Stress Test 1.7.116 Download to test your graphics card memory. Let the memory test run for at least seven passes; the more the better.
Run Hardware - Stress Test With Prime95 - Windows 7 Help Forums to determine any hardware problems. Run all three tests for a few hours each. If you get errors, stop the test and post back here.
Follow the steps for doing CPU stress test using IntelBurnTestRun the boot version of Memtest86+ paying close attention to Parts 2 and 3 of the tutorial. Also, in case Memtest86+ misses anything and comes up with no errors, run the extended version of the Windows Memory Diagnostics Tool for at least five passes. These you may want to run overnight since they take a long time to complete (run them an hour before bed each of the next two nights and check before going to sleep that they are still running).

For Part 3: If You Have Errors: If you swap any memory components, follow these steps for ESD safety:
Shut down and turn off your computer.Unplug all power supplies to the computer (AC Power then battery for laptops, AC power for desktops)Hold down the power button for 30 seconds to close the circuit and ensure all power drains from components.Make sure you are grounded by using proper grounding techniques, i.e. work on an anti-static workbench, anti-static desk, or an anti-static pad. Hold something metallic while touching it to the anti-static surface, or use an anti-static wristband to attach to the anti-static material while working. If you do not have an anti-static workbench, desk, or pad, you can use your computer... Read more

Hey guys, I've recently been encountering BSOD while playing graphically intensive games such as World of Tanks in 4k resolution. I thought it might be a temperature issue, so I manually turned up my GPU fan speed to 90% while playing, and my core temp. remained ~50?C. That didnt seem to fix the issue.

My last crash gave me the ol' Stop: 0x00000124

Here is my zip file containing the results of a DM Log Collector.

Edit: My system specs are:
CPU: i7-4790K @ 4.00GHz
MB: ASUS MAXIMUS VII HERO LGA 1150 Intel Z97
GPU: EVGA NVIDIA GForce GTX 780Ti
RAM: 16Gb G.Skill Trident X @ 2400Mhz
OS: Win7
PSU: EVGA 1000P2

A:BSOD playing games in 4k resolution such as World of Tanks 0x00000124

It seems to be overclocked.

Code:
CPUID: "Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4790K CPU @ 4.00GHz"
MaxSpeed: 4000
CurrentSpeed: 4080
And overclocking is one of the most frequent reasons of a stop 0x124 (though not the only reason).

As you are experiencing BSODs, As you are getting BSODs, you should stop overclocking and run all the hardware components like CPU, GPU and RAM to their default settings. Then see if it still causing the same BSOD or not. If the BSOD continues to occur, let us know. We will take further attempts to troubleshoot the issue.

Hello, and welcome to SevenForums!

First of all, have you overclocked your graphics card at all?

The 0x00000124 error code appears during a hardware complaint, such as overheating. If you have overclocked your GPU, RESET IT IMMEDIATELY. This could be causing numerous critical errors in your GPU, causing the whole system to crash. Also, overclocking can severely damage your GPU. I would only recommend it if you know what you are doing and are not just following a tutorial.

But, this could be other things too. I see that your GPU driver is WAY out-of-date. Download the latest drivers via the AMD website.

Best of luck,

PeregrineX

Just today when I got home from work and turned on my PC it started freezing just this morning it was working fine ive had random restarts before but rarely like maybe once or twice a month This problem BSOD 0x00000124 error ntoskrnl.exe, first started out by just freezing can't move mouse or anything holding power button don't work either so have to shut the power switch It now seems to either BSOD or freeze whenever I boot normally and sometimes the BSOD doesnt even make a dmp I either freeze BSOD ntoskrnl.exe, error 0x00000124 BSOD on the welcome screen or after a few min when the desktop comes up Safe mode works fine though as I am also in it now to post this and I have tried system restore to no avail I've tried testing my RAM sticks by moving them to different slots and testing one at a time and still same problem persists One forum mentioned video drivers so i uninstalled mine and still nothing I went to try windows repair but i get some error message saying the utility doesn't match my version not sure why as its the same disc I used to install with I would normally just re-format and install but a few forums mention that not working so I got a little more worried and am now coming to here to see what you guys think I BSOD ntoskrnl.exe, error 0x00000124 read initial post and ran the file collection app and have the zip uploaded One note though the system health report would not work just gave me an error screen maybe because im in safe mode but like I said can't leave it or I will freeze My basic system specs are below thanks for taking the time to read this and hope you can solve it Windows Pro bit got it from my computer courses in college as we part of some partnership with microsoft GB RAM x GB sticks AMD FX -core CPU GHz Nvidia GTX Ti ASUS Sabertooth MB This rig I built in March and ran fine until today Windows I had for over a year same disc just reinstalled

It does not appear you let the jcgriff2 utility run to completion. It sometimes appears it is not doing anything when it actually is, so do not stop it. Go get a cup of coffee or a meal while you wait.

Analysis:BugCheck 0x124
You have a 0x124 hardware bugcheck. If the system is still under warranty, I would recommend sending it in to have diagnostic tests done and any bad hardware replaced.

   Warning
Before you proceed with the following, answer these two questions: Are you still under warranty? Does your warranty allow you to open up the machine to check hardware? If you are unsure of the answers to these questions, contact your system manufacturer. WARNING: The steps that follow can void your warranty!!!

For your hardware stop 0x124 crash, read through Stop 0x124 - what it means and what to try and use the following hardware checks to supplement that link.
If you are overclocking any hardware, please stop.

If you have an SSD, make sure the following are up to date:SSD firmware
BIOS Version
Chipset Drivers
Hard disk controller drivers/SATA drivers
If you have a Marvell IDE ATA/ATAPI device, make sure the drivers are up to date from the Intel site or Marvell site and not from your motherboard/vendor support site.

Run all but the advanced tests with SeaTools for HDDs.SeaTools for Windows

SeaTools for DOS
Monitor temperatures during the following tests. Use the following programs to monitor the temperatures. Real Temp is a good CPU temperature monitor.
Speccy - System Information - Free Download will monitor all hardware temperatures.
HWiNFO, HWiNFO32 & HWiNFO64 - Hardware Information and Analysis Tools can be inaccurate for CPU temperatures, but is a good program for GPU temperature monitoring.

Run Hardware - Stress Test With Prime95 to determine any hardware problems. Run all three tests for a few hours each. If you get errors, stop the test and post back here.

Follow the steps for doing CPU stress test using IntelBurnTest

Run the boot version of Memtest86+ paying close attention to Parts 2 and 3 of the tutorial.

For Part 3: If You Have Errors: If you swap any memory components, follow these steps for ESD safety:Shut down and turn off your computer.
Unplug all power supplies to the computer (AC Power then battery for laptops, AC power for desktops)
Hold down the power button for 30 seconds to close the circuit and ensure all power drains from components.
Make sure you are grounded by using proper grounding techniques, i.e. work on an anti-static workbench, anti-static desk, or an anti-static pad. Hold something metallic while touching it to the anti-static surface, or use an anti-static wristband to attach to the anti-static material while working. If you do not have an anti-static workbench, desk, or pad, you can use your computer tower/case by finding a metal hold in it, su... Read more

Hi. Thank you for your time and expertise
For a while now I've had mostly BSOD 0x00000124 appearing on my screen when watching online videos(except YouTube) or whenever I played PC games on maximum video settings.
I decided to re-install Windows, assuming that software is the problem. Though after that not only did the BSOD stay, but also my computer started freezing randomly(on start-up, while installing updates, browsing the internet).
Also I installed Zorin OS 6. After a few minutes of browsing the internet(using Chrome) it also froze.
I tried running MemTest86+(using a CD) but after about 10 min. the computer screen shuts down on its own.
What should I do?

How long did you run memtest86+? It should be at least 7 passes.

Though I doubt the memory is the case. All crashes show an issue regarding CPU's L0 internal bus. You may wanna run Prime95 for about 9+ hours. If it shows up errors, or crashes, you can bet you have an issue with your CPU. I'm not sure what temps you have on it that are 'normal', but they might be too high; don't forget that overclocking it will cause this issue as well. The consistency leads me to believe the CPU itself is just bad, as OCing or temp problems typically lead to erratic CPU probs, but it really depends. Best to check with Prime95 first.

A:BSOD 0x00000124 error (hal.dll+5ba9 and ntoskrnl.exe+c4085)

You are getting a error that is exclusively linked to bad hardware or a improper overclock.
There really isn't a whole lot of other things that produce the error you are getting.

Hello everybody I just have this custom PC BSOD hal.dll+12a3b x64, error Windows 0x00000124 ntoskrnl.exe+748c0 for Home use I have used it around a month The PC had worked very good but weeks ago my wife had to use it for children's homework Just when she logged into her user account the BSOD appeared after around seconds the BSOD disappeared an the PC automatically restarted So she was into this loop until I told her to force shut down When I was home I ran Windows into Safe Mode and there everything was ok I thought it could BSOD Windows x64, error 0x00000124 hal.dll+12a3b ntoskrnl.exe+748c0 be a problem of RAM memory or maybe a faulty HDD I tested the RAM for about minutes and everything was ok tested the HDD with HD Sentinel software all the tests were perfect SMART indicators are also OK as expected of a nearly new HDD I think its a problem of drivers the PC has BSOD Windows x64, error 0x00000124 hal.dll+12a3b ntoskrnl.exe+748c0 a ZOGIS GT- Pci-Ex card but the mainboard Gygabyte B M-D V has its own Video Chip that is disabled on the BIOS Then I disabled the Pci-Ex and enabled the internal Video card but the result was the same BSOD Other peripherals used are a Genius USB Facecam and an EPSON L printer both are now BSOD Windows x64, error 0x00000124 hal.dll+12a3b ntoskrnl.exe+748c0 disconnected of the PC Please let me know what more can I do or how to test the drivers I will post any news here Thanks for your help in advance

Basically a 0x00000124 is a hardware issue; but it may be caused by anything and everything associated with the computer.

The crash dumps provide very less information in the 0x00000124 dumps. And there is only one crash dump which is unfortunately having symbol error and so I failed to read it properly.

Anyway, a single BSOD may always be treated as a glitch. If the issue continues, let us see the further dumps ... if they provide any little more info there.

Generous experts,

I am getting somewhat random, though more often on "wake-up" BSOD. It seems that it may be related to the cpu, as the event view states:
A fatal hardware error has occurred.

Reported by component: Processor Core
Error Source: Machine Check Exception
Error Type: Cache Hierarchy Error
Processor ID: 2

The details view of this entry contains further information.I am moderately tech savvy, but this is beyond my skill level. I have searched this forum and web for a solution, and did not find any that were quite close enough - at least by my viewing.

Any suggestions would be very much appreciated

Thank you!

The Machine Check Exception indicates that the CPU has found a fault with the a piece of hardware and has bugchecked. We cannot really identify the cause without proper troubleshooting stress tests.

The 2nd parameter is the address that contains the WHEA (Windows Hardware Error Architecture) record.
Its a Level 0 cache write error.

There's only so much we can do until it comes down to a faulty processor, lets begin.

Stress test your CPU with Prime95

I recommend running Prime95 for around 2 hours

   Warning

As with most stress tests your component's temperature will rapidly increase.
It is advised that you download a temperature monitoring program like HWmonitor
Keep an eye on your temperatures and stop the tests if it starts to overheat

Stress test your graphics card with Furmark

I recommend running it for around 30 minutes

   Warning

Furmark will increase the temperature of your GPU rapidly so keep and eye on your temperatures

Memtest86 will test your RAM

   Information

Run Memtest86 for at least 8 passes so we get enough information to confirm that your RAM isn't failing

Run a Disk Check to scan for errors

   Note

Afterwards go into an Elevated Command Prompt (Run as administrator) and type in sfc /scannow
If it finds errors reboot and run the scan two more times

Run SeaTools to see if your HDD or SSD is failing

Try removing the CMOS battery then putting it back in to clear the BIOS of any improper settings.
Make sure you keep an eye on the temperatures.

Remove these programs...

I been getting bsod while playing games such as Fallout New Vegas and Borderlands it only happens while playing games it started to happen when I install my new CPU processor into my computer I have a program called WhoCrashed and every time I run it after I get a bsod it says that the problem seems to be ntoskrnl exe which I don't know what that means WhoCrashed says that out of crash dumps are probably the cause of ntoskrnl exe My guess is BSOD games. ntoskrnl.exe while playing that the problem is coming from my new CPU but I don't know have to fix it I did some research and most people said this could be happening from outdated drivers As far BSOD ntoskrnl.exe while playing games. as I know I have every single driver up to date I even when to Device manager and I update every single device connected to my computer to see if that fix it but the bsod keeps happening Thank you for you help and also forgive my English and punctuation Here is some more information System specs Processor AMD FX tm - Quad-Core processor Installed memory RAM GB System type -bit Operating System x -based processor Video card NVIDIA GeForce GTX TI Attachment

I have already read online about how Norton has caused BSOD problems for many people when the 8.1 upgrade happened. Most solutions explain to replace Norton with Windows Defender. My question is that, is there any way of using Norton thus after then? I already spent the money have anti-virus software so it doesn't make sense for me to just uninstall it and never use Norton again. Or if not, are there any better (preferably free) anti-virus solutions? I'm tired of getting BSODs because of Norton but, being as laymen as I am with computers, I feel like if I don't have Norton on, my computer is at risk.

A:ntoskrnl.exe BSOD when playing games

Maybe you should ask Norton for a refund. If it makes you problems (and you applied all the updates) there is not much else you can do but uninstall it completely and take your losses. Does temporarily disabling Norton while playing help any ?
There are many nice and useful free AVs ot there. I am partial to Avast free but there are many more free ones too, Like AVG, Bitdefender etc. and most of them are arguably better than Windows Defender. As for free/payed AVs goes, it all depends on how much of and from what you need protection from. Check about them on their sites and compare the difference between them and free/ payed versions. For me, with pretty active internet use, Avast free, helped by Search&Destroy, does just fine job.

Are you overclocking?

HAL (hardware abstraction layer) may have caused it.

A:BSOD NTOSKRNL.EXE while playing games etc

These crashes were caused by memory corruption/exception (Cx05) probably a driver.
Please run these two tests to verify your memory and find which driver is causing the problem.

* If you are overclocking anything reset to default before running these tests.
In other words STOP!!!

* If you have a Raid update its Driver.

Memtest.

Quote:
*Download a copy of Memtest86 and burn the ISO to a CD using Iso Recorder or another ISO burning program. Memtest86+ - Advanced Memory Diagnostic Tool

*Boot from the CD, and leave it running for at least 5-7 passes.

Just remember, any time Memtest reports errors, it can be either bad RAM or a bad motherboard slot.

Test the sticks individually, and if you find a good one, test it in all slots.

Any errors are indicative of a memory problem.

If a known good stick fails in a motherboard slot it is probably the slot.

RAM - Test with Memtest86+

Driver Verifier

Quote:
Using Driver Verifier is an iffy proposition.
Most times it'll crash and it'll tell you what the driver is.
But sometimes it'll crash and won't tell you the driver.
Other times it'll crash before you can log in to Windows.
If you can't get to Safe Mode, then you'll have to resort to offline editing of the registry to disable Driver Verifier.

I'd suggest that you first backup your stuff and then make sure you've got access to another computer so you can contact us if problems arise.
Then make a System Restore point (so you can restore the system using the Vista/Win7 Startup Repair feature).

In Windows 7 you can make a Startup Repair disk by going to Start....All Programs...Maintenance...Create a System Repair Disc - with Windows Vista you'll have to use your installation disk or the "Repair your computer" option at the top of the Safe Mode menu .

Then, here's the procedure:
- Go to Start and type in "verifier" (without the quotes) and press Enter
- Select "Create custom settings (for code developers)" and click "Next"
- Select "Select individual settings from a full list" and click "Next"
- Select everything EXCEPT FOR "Low Resource Simulation"IRP Logging and Force Pending I/O Requests. and click "Next"
NOTE: You can use Low Resource Simulation if you'd like.
From my limited experimentation it makes the BSOD's come faster.
- Select "Select driver names from a list" and click "Next"
Then select all drivers NOT provided by Microsoft and click "Next"
- Select "Finish" on the next page.

If you are using win 8 add these
- Concurrency Stress Test
- DDI compliance checking

Reboot the system and wait for it to crash to the Blue Screen.
Continue to use your system normally, and if you know what causes the crash, do that repeatedly.
The objective here is to get the system to crash because Driver Verifier is stressing the drivers out.
If it doesn't crash for you, then let it run for at least 36 hours of continuous operation.
Reboot into Windows (after the crash) and turn off Driver Verifier by going back in and selecting "Delete existing settings" on the first page, then locate and zip up the memory dump file and upload it with your next post.
If you can't get into Windows because it crashes too soon, try it in Safe Mode.
If you can't get into Safe Mode, try using System Restore from your installation DVD to set the system back to the previous restore point that you created.

Thanks to JCGriff2 & Usasma.

Driver Reference Table - vcsvad.sys

sxuptp.sys dates from 2009 and appears to be part of a Belkin USB networking device (more info here: Driver Reference Table - sxuptp.sys ) If this is a wireless USB device, here's my rant about them:

Quote:
I do not recommend using wireless USB devices. Especially in Win7 systems.
These wireless USB devices have many issues with Win7 - and using Vista drivers with them is almost sure to cause a BSOD.
Should you want to keep using these devices, be sure to have Win7 drivers - DO NOT use Vista drivers!!!
An installable wireless PCI/PCIe card that's plugged into your motherboard is much more robust, reliable, and powerful.

If the above suggestions don't fix the BSOD problems, post back and we'll try Driver Verifier on all 3rd party drivers (instructions here: Driver Verifier Settings )

Hi, I've been getting this BSOD every so often, usually when playing DOTA 2 or Just Cause 2.

It doesn't happen immediately, I notice the game's framerate dip, and then the BSOD occurs.

I am running a laptop with Windows 8.1. (x64)
It has a nvidia 745M with optimus, and an i7-4500u.
Model is a Clevo W840SN

I have ran memtest with no errors appearing.

Thankyou.

Hi,

The latest attached DMP file is of the DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE (9f) bug check.

This bug check indicates that the driver is in an inconsistent or invalid power state.

If we run an !irp on the 4th parameter of the bug check (blocked IRP address), we get the following:

[ 16, 2] 0 e1 ffffe0000147d040 00000000 fffff802561a2d80-ffffe000038e46f0 Success Error Cancel pending

^^ nVidia video driver.

Ensure you have the latest video card drivers. If you are already on the latest video card drivers, uninstall and install a version or a few versions behind the latest to ensure it's not a latest driver only issue. If you have already experimented with the latest video card driver and many previous versions, please give the beta driver for your card a try.

DRIVERS
The following drivers need to be updated:

Code:
Alpham164.sys Mon Jul 23 17:57:03 2007
Alpham264.sys Tue Mar 20 20:51:03 2007
Rt64win7.sys Thu Feb 26 20:04:13 2009
irsir.sys Sat Jan 19 17:36:11 2008
These drivers can be found by searching them in Google and then finding the associated software or driver. Finally, find the latest version of this driver or software and download and install it. Some of the drivers may also be found here (if the driver says 'Windows Update' simply make sure all Windows Updates are installed).

You should also update any other drivers you can think of including graphics, audio, chipset, SSD etc.
HARDWARE
You have a hardware error (0x124). Read the following thread and see if any of it's fixes work.
Stop 0x124 - what it means and what to try

Among the fixes in the above thread are a few stress tests. Before you do any of the other fixes mentioned in the thread, you should run these tests:

Test your RAM using Memtest86+. Let it run until 6-8 passes have completed or errors have been found.
RAM - Test with Memtest86+

Test your video card using Furmark. Watch your machine's temps and stop the test if it starts to overheat or artifacts appear on the screen.
Video Card - Stress Test with Furmark

Test your hardware using Prime95. Watch your machine's temps and stop the test if it starts to overheat. Let it run for up to 2 hours or until errors have been found.
Hardware - Stress Test With Prime95

Stress test your CPU using Intel Burn Test.
CPU - Stress Test Using IntelBurnTest

Run a chkdsk on the system partition to check for bad sectors or system errors.
Disk Check
SOFTWARE
You have AVG installed, is that correct? At least to test, uninstall it and install MSE (Microsoft Security Essentials) instead.
Microsoft Security Essentials - Free Antivirus for Windows

You will need to remove any CD virtualization programs such as Daemon Tools and Alcohol 120%. They use a driver that was found in your dump called sptd.sys which is notorious for causing BSOD's.Use the below SPTD uninstaller to uninstall the driver...
DuplexSecure - Downloads

...and then install the freeware, MagicDisk (MagicISO Virtual CD/DVD-ROM).

So, to further add to some of what diagnostics / tests / checks I have done on this system:

- Hiren's Boot CD using Seagate Tools on it, to do a full level test of both of the 1TB HD's (both of the 500s are disconnected)
- Reseated the RAM
- Reseated the SATA cables to the DVD-ROM Drive, and the HDD's.
- Tried changing the cables of the HDD's
- Reseated them in different ports (instead of 0 (DVD) 1 (HDD) and 2 (HDD), tried 3 (HDD), 4 (HDD), and 5 (DVD)
- Reseated the power connections on the motherboard for power
- Changed the power plugs to the various devices (HDD and DVD)
- Fresh firmware reinstall of the Motherboard (A74, dating Aug 8, 2011)
- Factory reset of motherboard settings back to stock

- testing now with Prime95 to do a memory test
- Have done a memtest using an ubuntu boot disk
- Done an full system MRI by a buddy who works for Geek Squad

This is the fourth reinstall of Windows (on a fourth drive configuration) in the last two weeks. Hopefully I don't have to do it many more times - Microsoft is getting cranky at me for all the activations I keep calling in for.

Hello Everyone,

I have frequent 0x00000124 errors. I know these are not easy to overcome and I would greatly appreciate the help of a tech guru to help me understand my crash dump and where I should put my effort.

So far I have tried these steps:

Fresh copy of win7 on my sata drive instead of SSD
I did a memtest stress test and no error came up.

I don't see this error when I use my computer to browse the web or watch movies. It is most of the time when I am playing games. I have a huge heat sink with a dual 120mm fans over my cpu and a lot of 120mm for the rest of the case... I don't really suspect overheating. I did not try to overclock any of my components, everything is on factory settings.

Thanks for your much needed help.

These crashes were related to your AppleCharger.sys. It can be removed as USB will charge the devices without it.

From bluescreenviewer it seems to be error 124 but no idea which driver or hardware is causing this. Please help. Read from http://social.technet.microsoft.com/...-analysis.aspx that it has something to do with my PCI Express device? Could it be my graphics card? Thank you!

Your UEFI/BIOS dates from 2010. Please check at the manufacturer's website to see if there are any UEFI/BIOS updates available for your system. Also check the readme file to see if they apply to the problems that you are having. Please be advised that flashing the UEFI/BIOS is a very unforgiving process - and one mistake can physically damage your motherboard. If possible, use the "inside Windows" flash mechanism (if your OEM provides one) - that is much more forgiving than the traditional (floppy drive) flash method.

There are enough signs here that I have to wonder about this installation. Should this be a pirated copy of Windows, please be aware that we may not be able to fix it (as the hacks that were done to activate it will cause the OS to behave differently than we expect it to). If that's the case, our efforts to help may just waste your time. Secondly, the forum rules prohibit assisting with pirated software - so the topic would be closed if that is the case.

Please provide this report:

License Information (Windows 8)
Right click on the buttonClick on Command prompt =>Inside the Command Prompt windows copy and paste the following command
licensingdiag.exe -report "%userprofile%\Desktop\report.txt" -log "%userprofile%\Desktop\repfiles.cab"
Once finished please go to your desktop -> You will see two files report.txt and repfiles.cab -> Please select both files and add them into a zip fileUpload this zip file to your next reply

AMD OverDrive (AODDriver2.sys) is either a stand-alone application, or a component of the AMD VISION Engine Control Center. This driver is known to cause BSOD's on some Windows systems.

NOTE: these symptoms were from the previous release of OverDrive. The new release uses the same driver name, but is dated from 4 November 2013.

Please un-install all AMD/ATI video stuff from Control Panel...Programs...Un-install a program
Then, download (but DO NOT install) a fresh copy of the ATI drivers from Global Provider of Innovative Graphics, Processors and Media Solutions | AMD (in the upper right corner of the page)
Use this procedure to install the DRIVER ONLY: ATI video cards - DRIVER ONLY installation procedure - Sysnative Forums

If the device (AODDriver or AODDriver4.01) remains a problem, open Device Manager, select the "View" item.
Then select "Show hidden devices" and scroll down to the Non-Plug and Play Drivers section.
Locate the AODDriver entry, right click on it and select "Un-install". Reboot for changes to take affect.

Sometimes the driver remains and continues to cause BSOD's. If this is the case for you, post back and we'll give further instructions for safely removing it.

If overclocking, please stop. Remove the overclock and return the system to stock/standard values while we're troubleshooting. Once the system is stable again, feel free to resume the overclocking.

Please uninstall ScreamingBAudio - it dates from 2010 and those versions were known to cause BSOD's in some Windows systems.

Please update these older drivers. Links are included to assist in looking up the source of the drivers. If unable to find an update, please remove (un-install) the program responsible for that driver. DO NOT manually delete/rename the driver as it may make the system unbootable! :

I keep getting BSODs when I play games for a short while At first I thought when BSOD says ntoskrnl.exe games. My kids tend to play games (Lego Lord of the Rings, Lego Clone Wars, etc) whilst I'm at work and have experienced occasional but repeated BSODs. They always have cooling turned up when playing.

The computer is overclocked but has been since new (with lots of testing via Prime95, FurMark, etc), without any problems when I'm using it. I'm down to figuring there's something my sons are doing or something about the games they're playing that are causing issues.

Any assistance gratefully appreciated.

I know you said you've already done some stress testing but I'd like you to do some more with some recommendations on the amount of time you're testing.

Post back the results.

Hello I have been trying for two or three weeks to fix this problem but so far no luck so any help is appreciated I generally only get a BSOD when I'm playing games but I've had a very small amount when not playing anything playing BSOD HDAudBus.sys, ntoskrnl.exe, storport.sys games while I ran memtest times overnight and I got zero errors and since everything I've looked up pointed to a driver issue I've tried updating everything I could find to update My first thought was it is an audio issue because for the past month I often get a crackling BSOD HDAudBus.sys, ntoskrnl.exe, storport.sys while playing games sound from any audio playing but every audio driver I've tried doesn't fix anything for long BSOD HDAudBus.sys, ntoskrnl.exe, storport.sys while playing games I then thought it might have been a graphics card issue so after updating and uninstalling reinstalling the drivers I tried swapping my R x out for my old amd hd and the crackling went away and I stopped crashing for - days I tried running one of those Furmark burn tests on each of the cards and the x crashed every time about minutes in and the went for minutes fine Since I wanted to upgrade my card anyways I got a geforce gtx For about - hours of gaming I had no problems but then crackling audio came back and so did the crashing For the first time last night when it actually let me update the Realtek audio drivers it sounded perfectly clear and I stopped crashing Then when I turned it on again after work the crackling is back and so is the crashing

First I got a sudden BSOD and reboot after a couple of hours of playing games. It looked strange as this PC is rather new and it had never happened with higher resourse demanding games.

After that first BSOD it started happening anytime when the PC was running, even not playing. It could be with 10 minutes or 6 hours of being functioning.

The program BlueScreenView says it may be related to ntoskrnl.exe, dxgmms1.sys or nvlddmkm.sys. I did the search for virus with Microsoft Essentials but found nothing. Didn?t get anything either with Malwarebytes Anti-Malware.

Hope someone around here can help me out ?

Thanks.

A:BSOD started playing games now happens almost anytime (ntoskrnl.exe?)

Only one memory dump in the uploaded reports. If you're using a disk cleanup program, please stop while we're troubleshooting.

Daemon Tools (and Alcohol % software) are known to cause BSOD's on some Win7 systems (mostly due to the sptd.sys driver, although I have seen dtsoftbus01.sys blamed on several occasions).
Please uninstall the program, then use the following free tool to ensure that the troublesome sptd.sys driver is removed from your system (pick the 32 or 64 bit system depending on your system's configuration): DuplexSecure - FAQ

Here's a link to a post on some troubleshooting steps for this sort of error: STOP 0x116: VIDEO_TDR_ERROR troubleshooting

If the above steps don't stop the BSOD's, please zip up and upload any new memory dumps with your next post - and we'll see what we can figure out from there.

The following info is just FYI, I've already addressed the issues that I saw in the above paragraphs

Hello I've been getting the BSOD for the past couple weeks when playing the game Hearthstone and only Hearthstone I wiped my computer and did a fresh install hoping it would fix it but it didn't I figured it must be something with BSOD some games: by when Caused playing and ntkrnlmp ntoskrnl.exe both the game since no other game was giving me the error and windows never crashed outside of it But I just bought Skyrim and got an error almost right away I did some searching and read it might be a memory problem I ran Windows Memory Diagnostic tool and it came up with nothing The errors have always been linked to ntoskrnl exe but tonight's latest error also included ntkrnlmp exe in on the fun I'm kinda running out of ideas on what to do Maybe Windows Update has been corrupting those files I've attached the two dmp files from the crashes Whocrashed also says there's a file called quot Memory dmp quot but that's almost mb So I'll just post what Whocrashed reported there Quote On Mon AM GMT your computer crashed crash dump file C Windows memory dmp This was probably caused by the following module ntkrnlmp exe nt KeBugCheckEx x Bugcheck code x A xFFFFF FC A xFFFFFFFFC E x DBBE xFFFFF D Error KERNEL DATA INPAGE ERROR Bug check description This bug check indicates that the requested page of kernel data BSOD when playing some games: Caused by both ntoskrnl.exe and ntkrnlmp from the paging file could not be read into memory The crash took place in the Windows kernel Possibly this BSOD when playing some games: Caused by both ntoskrnl.exe and ntkrnlmp problem is caused by another driver that cannot be identified at this time

i have been having blue screens for around a month mostly while gaming but some times when idle some games have also been quitting randomly which might have something to do with it. i figured out that it has to do with ntoskrnl.exe. i attached a file with only my latest bsod because the others got deleted after running ccleaner. i have also ran memtest and not gotten any errors i will run it 5-8 more times just in case.

Hallo I have recently bought this new laptop precisely I got it online and it was delivered a week ago so you can imagine my surprise when I got the Blue Screen of Death Anyway I was playing Dota just started the game and in about minutes it went blue and the speakers shhhhh After that I turned it off manually of course then on again and played the game for about hours waiting on it to happen again I am not quite the computer-illiterate playing Dota2, error 0x00000124 BSOD but I am also not an expert in this field so I just wanted to see if it persists or not and it did not But BSOD playing Dota2, error 0x00000124 I am still unsatisfied being it a new laptop and all So as the pic I uploaded states BSOD playing Dota2, error 0x00000124 it is supposedly a hardware error and BSOD playing Dota2, error 0x00000124 I can return this laptop back no questions asked I suppose since I am still in the first weeks but I need your professional opinion to avoid the hassle unless it is a serious issue like a hardware malfunction or sth similar The data I uploaded I collected just now and this issue happened last night so I used the laptop several hours since if it is relevant I mean Thanks a bunch guys really appreciated

Hello,

So recently I've been getting BSOD while playing Planetside 2. Last week my friend and I PCs both crashed while playing DayZ, however we didn't get a BSOD. The latest BSOD seems to be caused by ntoskrnl.exe+75b80.

Thanks

A:BSOD Playing Planetside 2, error 0x00000124

A "stop 0x124" is fundamentally different to many other types of bluescreens because it stems from a hardware complaint. Stop 0x124 minidumps contain very little practical information, and it is therefore necessary to approach the problem as a case of hardware in an unknown state of distress. You can read more on this error and what to try here... Stop 0x124 - what it means and what to try: Stop 124 - What it means and what to try

Quote:
Based on the bugchecks, I would recommend you follow and complete the steps given below:1. If you are overclocking any hardware, please stop. Reset any changed values back to default and reset/clear CMOS: Clear CMOS - 3 Ways to Clear the CMOS - Reset BIOS. Uninstall any overclocking tool as these can also be a reason of blue screens.

2. Uninstall your current antivirus software. It can be a cause of BSOD very often. Please remove it with its removal tool and use Microsoft Security Essentials in its place. Malwarebytes is a great combination with it. Go through this thread for more info.

3. Run Disk Check with both boxes checked for all HDDs and with Automatically fix file system errors. Post back your logs for the checks after finding them using Check Disk (chkdsk) - Read Event Viewer Log

4. Run SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker to check windows for integrity violations. Run it up to three times to fix all errors. Post back if it continues to show errors after a fourth run or if the first run comes back with no integrity violations.

5. Make scans with Kaspersky TDSskiller and ESET Online scanner.

6. Perform a Clean Start up, this will help avoid any problematic applications from bugging the system.

7. Use Revo Uninstaller Free to uninstall stubborn software. Opt for Advanced Mode and uninstall the software, delete the leftover registry entries.

8. Use Crystal Disk Info to upload a screenshot of your Hard Drives (s). Test your Hard Drives (s) running a Hard Drive Diag.

9. Test and Diagnose RAM issues with RAM - Test with Memtest86+. Pay close attention to Part 3 of the tutorial "If you have errors" Take the test for at least 7-10 passes. It may take up to 22 passes to find problems. Make sure to run it once after the system has been on for a few hours and is warm, and then also run it again when the system has been off for a few hours and is cold.

10. Monitor hardware temperature for overheating issues with system monitoring software like Speccy or HWMonitor. Upload a screen shot of the Summary tab as well:Piriform - Speccy
CPUID - HWMonitor

Hey guys!
First off thanks for taking your time to read this

My computer has been BSODing more frequently unfortunately. It has gotten to the point it may happen once or twice a day if I'm playing League of legends.

If I play Diablo 3 it occurs indefinitely very frequently with in 20 mins.
At this point I am uncertain of what to do... help?
**Edit - the Battle.net app suggested updating my graphic card driver which I did and still no change.

Hello, I've been having an issue with my computer spontaneously restarting while playing certain games. I looked it up and found that windows automatically restarts when you BSOD so i turned off that function and now i get a BSOD and i grabbed this from my event logger:

The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck. The bugcheck was: 0x00000124 (0x0000000000000000, 0xfffffa800d77d028, 0x00000000b6000000, 0x0000000000100153).

I'm including the BSOD data collection zip thingy that is provided on this forum.

I'm not sure if it matters but i have had this issue running only civ5 and vermintide but they could be unrelated to each other. In niether case is the game or system under any significant load.

You are running a Dell Product ID (PID) on a MSI board.
This makes your installation counterfeit.
Troubleshooting a counterfeit installation is useless as it is not known what has been modified to your system.
A counterfeit installation contains heavily modified code which causes the system to behave in unexpected ways.
For this reason, analyzing counterfeit systems is unreliable and most analysts won't try it.

Code:
OS Configuration: Standalone Workstation
OS Build Type: Multiprocessor Free

Original Install Date: 12/13/2013, 3:54:49 PM
System Boot Time: 5/28/2016, 4:38:30 PM

I recommend to install a genuine copy of Windows.
If, after you have installed a genuine copy of Windows, you still get BSOD's we'll be happy to assist you.

Instable system. Did you overclock it or did anything to voltage/clock speed?
It happened to me when I tried to undervolt the PC with -0.150v while rendering (it became instable with too little voltage for render).
Try to disable XMP profile in UEFI or set everything to default and see if it happens again in the game.

Hello,
I always get a BSOD after a while playing Elsword DE, at random times. Sometimes after a few minutes, sometimes after a few hours playtime. I never get one when I don't play it, no matter what. Only this game.
I have this problem for now about a year, ever since there was a big patch or something. I could play the game before that without problems. I didn't change anything on my PC(hardware) for about 2 years.

I've attached the DM Log Collector file below.
Any help is very much appreciated.

This has been going on since half December, which is about a week after I updated my drivers. It first happened once or twice, where I though that it was just coincidence, but now it happens every time I try to play Battlefield 3.

Since it happened a bit after updating the drivers, I thought it was that. Today most of the drivers needed to be updated again, including the infamous Realtek sound drivers that are supposed to give problems with Battlefield 3, so I updated them hoping it would solve the problem. No dice, I still get a BSOD when playing Battlefield 3.

Dump files are in the attachment. I didn't include the perfmon HTML file since it refuses to generate a report, even when the Performance Logs & Alert service is set on manual.

Two errors both hardware related.

First up hello and thanks for taking a look at my problem in advance Basically a while back approx months ago my old PC died due to some HD corruption and i decided to do some hardware upgrading and a complete BSOD Playing 0x00000124 & While error Randomly re-build instead of starting a fresh install on an old system Pretty much replaced everything I purchased a Overclocked MB CPU RAM bundle from the ARIA retailer which was Gladiator Z Core i K GHz Water-Cooled Overclocked Bundle - Aria BSOD Randomly & While Playing error 0x00000124 PC but basically i have an issue where if i leave my pc idling after an unknown period of time i will come back to it and it will have BSOD while i am away - and if i leave it BSOD Randomly & While Playing error 0x00000124 indefinitely past that point it will reboot but be stuck on an 'unable to boot - please insert bootable media' message and will require a restart to work again properly Additionally when playing certain games noticeably Battlefield Which has been BSOD'ing when ive been trying to play it up to every - mins but also includes other games such as RAGE the more graphics intensive the game it is the higher the risk of BSOD seems to be the error message im getting atleast on last BSOD was x x xFFFFFA x BE x A Im not convinced that this is the only BSOD message i have received as i can recall seeing a different message sometime - but will have to wait until that occurs to be able to see what it is Ive checked the temperatures that my system runs at - specifically after BSODs too and the CPU core is never higher then - degrees I have attached the files that were recommended to add to this post but apart from that im not clued up on this sort of thing so all the extra help with troubleshooting this one would be a massive help I was previously running this with a w PSU but thought that might have been an issue but just upgraded to a kw one with no change to the problem My system specs ASUS Maximus IV Gene-Z MB Intel Core i - K oc Ghz GB MHz Dual Channel DDR ATI Radeon HD OC Twin FrozR III Power Edition MB SATA gb HD drive Some DVD drive Files attached - and again im not too computer savvy so if any suggestions if they are a little complicated could come with a little background or tutorial that would be ace - starting to pull my hair out over this issue now completely stumped

A:BSOD Randomly & While Playing error 0x00000124

Just a quick reply to add that i was going to try and reset the OC settings on my CPU back down to the defaults but then I realised I had no idea how to do that after looking through the BIOS settings - so if anyone can point me in the right direction on that one then that would be awesome (If its thought that could be the issue!)

A:BSOD While playing LoL,Browsing etc., error 0x00000124

So I've read on some similar threads and figured that getting it might resolve the issue with new/better cooling on cpu etc and reseating components and cables, cleaning the case for dust, and swap out RAM (which I am going to).

Would still appreciate feedback

Good day to you all!

I have been having this issue with my PC crashing to Bluescreen for the past 3 weeks.

The Error was coded 0X00000124. So I take it to get a diagnostic check at a micro-Center in my area, They say it’s my OS so they re-install my OS. Drivers and all.

I get it back, everything fine until I play a Youtube Vid on my system and that errors returned.

Any Help would be greatly Appreciated. I been racking my brain about what I need to do. thanx

Good evening,

Welcome aboard, warningfs.

It is a stop 0x124, a hardware related crash.

---------
Follow the guide Stop 0x124 - what it means and what to try step by step.

As you are saying that the crashes are occurring during gameplay, pay attention to the following...

► Stress test the Graphics Card using Furmark.
Video Card - Stress Test with Furmark

► Update your ATI/AMD display driver.
You can get it from the link in our forum, Latest AMD Catalyst Video Driver for Windows 7, or you may go to AMD Graphics Driver and Software and opt for Automatically Detect and Install the appropriate driver for your card.

During installation, you may opt for advanced installation, and install the display driver only, not the Catalyst Control Center.

► Use Speccy, monitor the heat of the graphics card, and the overall system heat, too. If it is hot, afford additional cooling.

► If possible, clean the inside of the computer, specially the fan grills and the air vents.

Let us know the results.
