I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

The sequence of events went as follows.
RAM test 1 pass was passed. Verifier.exe caused immediate BSOD on windows start when activated. Trying to hunt down drivers revealed any combo of 3 or more drivers gave BSOD at startup. Randomly decided to recheck RAM. Failed memtest after 27 minutes pass 1. Found one RAM stick that passed after one pass slot0. Got fed up of waiting for other slot's. Devised a plan to use verifier to check the RAM by seeing which combo's of RAM sticks gave BSOD on startup. All combo's passed. And now verifier does not give BSOD on any setting. Began to hate life. Cheered myself up with prospect of sleep. Put all 16 Gb RAM in properly and ran mentest for 18 hours, 6 passes. No error. Still no verifier.exe errors when enabled. Wrote this update.


If RAM failed after 27min one test, and then after swapping around a retest of 18 hours has no error, one would presume the RAM may be ok. Equally, I believe one could say the RAM is suspect. So, if the test is failed it really doesn't tell us anything except there is a problem somewhere. But we know there is a problem since we have BSOD!!! If I hadn't rerun the test I wouldn't question the RAM.

So the question is: how do I categorically ensure that a stick of RAM is good? Is memtest on RAM with an alternative working computer enough?



In summary:

I ran memtest for 18 hours, which was 6 passes. No problems detected. Using verifier.exe with protocols given on this forum I no longer get BSOD.

Currently my hypothesis is that the RAM was never seated correctly, or given that it takes a bit of force to insert correctly into motherboard, the flexing has at least temporarily defused whatever fault was causing my BSOD. Tenuous I know. But I really have no other explanation other than something somewhere on the motherboard or power is failing, or even the RAM.

I have some bluescreen issues. Whenever I'm doing something graphically intensive, I get lots of bands of color across the screen for a few seconds. Then I get a BSOD for a second. I used BlueScreenView to pull up three logs. I've attached those for anyone who has some free time to look at them.
 
I've run memstest for 4 passes and there were no errors. This leads me to believe that my problems stem from either a bad GPU or some kind of driver conflict.
 
Any help would be very much appreciated!

A:BSOD help! crash address - ntoskrnl.exe+75bc0

Since all four of these reports refer to system files, I would be inclined to run 'sfc /scannow' to repair any corrupted files. If you don't know how to do this :
 
Click on 'Start'; type 'cmd' into the search box (ALL typing without the quotes !); this may bring up a number of things but at the top will be 'cmd.exe'.
 
RIGHT click on this and choose 'Run as administrator'; then at the cursor type 'sfc /scannow' and press the 'Enter' key to start it running. Note that there is a space between 'sfc' and '/scannow'. Then let it run, it may take a while but let it finish. Then re-boot and try running something graphics intensive and see what happens.
 
Try the above, and if it works, great.  However your remarks 'graphically intensive' and 'bands of colour' suggest you may have either a graphics card problem or an over heating one. When you post back, if the problem isn't solved please give the make and model of your computer plus details on your graphics card.

Hello,

I'm getting random BSODS mostly on startup and during casual browsing eg. tasks which isn't that demanding but also occasionally during gaming.

I've searched around but I'm still clueless and I hope somebody is more familiar with these error codes than I am. Trying to debugg these BSODS without much experience has proven pretty difficult.

I have done a two runs with Memtest without any errors.

5. Make scans with Kaspersky TDSskiller and ESET Online scanner.

6. Perform a Clean Start up, this will help avoid any problematic applications from bugging the system.

7. Use Revo Uninstaller Free to uninstall stubborn software. Opt for Advanced Mode and uninstall the software, delete the leftover registry entries.

8. Use Crystal Disk Info to upload a screenshot of your Hard Drives (s). Test your Hard Drives (s) running a Hard Drive Diag.

9. Test and Diagnose RAM issues with RAM - Test with Memtest86+. Pay close attention to Part 3 of the tutorial "If you have errors" Take the test for at least 7-10 passes. It may take up to 22 passes to find problems. Make sure to run it once after the system has been on for a few hours and is warm, and then also run it again when the system has been off for a few hours and is cold.

10. Monitor hardware temperature for overheating issues with system monitoring software like Speccy or HWMonitor. Upload a screen shot of the Summary tab as well:Piriform - Speccy

Uninstall ESET, at least as a test. Use Microsoft Security Essentials as your antivirus with windows inbuilt firewall, and free MBAM as the on demand scanner.
Download, install and update those, and then run full system scans with both of them, one by one.

Test your RAM modules for possible errors.
How to Test and Diagnose RAM Issues with Memtest86+
Run memtest for at least 8 passes, preferably overnight. If it start showing errors/red lines, stop testing. A single error is enough to determine that something is going bad there.
Then let us know how it is running. We need to take necessary actions depending on the situation then.

Hey guys so I've been getting some random BSOD errors every few days or so I usually leave my computer on when I am at work or sleep and either when I come home Random BSOD error ntoskrnl.exe (address driver ntoskrnl.exe+74ec0) or wake up my computer is off So I turn it on and it says that the computer didn't Random BSOD error driver ntoskrnl.exe (address ntoskrnl.exe+74ec0) shut down properly when I start up I downloaded the BlueScreenView and noticed I've had some BSOD three times within days One Random BSOD error driver ntoskrnl.exe (address ntoskrnl.exe+74ec0) was a PAGE FAULT IN NONPAGED AREA error which I believe was a RAM problem i bought new RAM and installed it plus OCed it to but I believe it was making my system unstable so I reset the speed to default and haven't gotten that error again but after that I've gotten two IRQL NOT LESS OR EQUAL errors related to ntoskrnl exe I did some research online and from what I read it could be a number of problems I'm just not sure where to start and could really use some guidance and advice I uploaded my dmp files for anyone who knows how to look at these Thank in advance

I'd remove Adaware, Spybot, Online Threat Engine and any other malware removal tools you have. thne put a top free antivirus like MSE or Avira. Then consider a more dedicated, configurable firewall like Comodo or ZoneAlarm.
 
Could be a dying power supply... but better to tie up your security if this is a financial machine.

Hi,

This bugcheck means that pageable memory was referenced at an IRQL too high. This is an illegal operation as pageable memory can only be referenced at IRQL 1 (APC Level) or IRQL 0 (Passive Level).

So why doesn't the IRQL lower to access the memory address?

Windows doesn't work that way for good reason.
An Interrupt request (IRQ) has been initiated it is serviced in an order of priorities, for example an IRQ has been sent to service an I/O and an IRQ has been sent to draw a Window for an application, the disk I/O is more important so it is put at an IRQL higher than the application request. Right, so the I/O IRQ has to be completed before the IRQL can lower to service the IRQs below it.
Now, when something tries to access pageable memory at an IRQL higher than APC level it generates a page fault because the memory has been paged out to disk, now this page fault cannot be resolved by the trap handler because the IRQL is too high but the page fault needs servicing.

It then becomes a stalemate, you can't complete the page fault because the IRQL is too high but you cannot lower the IRQL because it needs servicing so the system bugchecks.

However, the strange thing I've noticed is this:

Been battling BSOD on and off randomly for a while, always ntoskrnl.exe+75bc0. Started after installing Alan Wake. Windows and all drivers up to date. Ran memtest, HDD Diag, System verication, stress tested system and a few other things with no luck.

This has come and gone for a long time. I ran a registry repair tool that seemed to fix it for about a month, but now it's back with a vengeance (4 BSODs today). Latest dump attached. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Can you disable your webcam, at least as a test?

After disabling the webcam, put the computer to sleep, then wake it up. Do it a few times.

Does it still BSOD while waking up? Let us know.

Uninstall NetLimiter. It causes BSODs wherever it is present.

Free up the startup. Windows does not need any other program to auto start with it, but the auto start programs often conflicts and causes various problems including BSODs.
Click on the Start button
Type “msconfig (without quotes), click the resulting link. It will open the System Configuration window.
Select the “Startup” tab.
Deselect all items other than the antivirus and the touchpad driver, SynTPEnh.
Apply > OK
Accept then restart.
Upload the list of all the third party drivers Using NirSoft DriverView :
Download and execute Driverview
View > Hide Microsoft Drivers
Edit > Select all
File > Save Selected Items
In the Save dialog, Set the path to desktop, Put "Driverview" in the name field, and save.
Zip the .txt file and upload it.
Let us know.

This computer runs a program named HAUPTWERK, which generates pipe organ sounds based on MIDI input. I leave this computer on all the time with the HAUPTWERK program running. A:BSOD DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE ntoskrnl.exe+75bc0

Hi Chuck.

A stop 0x9F BSOD is caused by Advanced Configuration and Power Interface (ACPI), the power management options. Technically it is termed as DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE. That means, some driver is failing to act or response properly during the power transitions.

The failing drivers, as I am noticing are
mafw.sys, Service for M-Audio FireWire (c:\windows\system32\drivers\mafw.sys); a component of your M-Audio Delta 1010LT sound card.
iastor.sys, Intel AHCI Controller (c:\windows\system32\drivers\iastor.sys); Intel(R) Desktop/Workstation/Server Express Chipset SATA AHCI Controller.
Now let us think what should be done these these drivers.

For the M-Audio stuff, I am failing to suggest updates, as there is no feasible update as I am seeing in M-AUDIO - Drivers and Software Search.

In that situation, you should try removing that card.

Get rid of intel rapid storage. First uninstall it from Control Panel > Programs and Features. Then Uninstall the driver from device manager.
Right click on "my computer" icon and click "manage" on the context menu.
It will open the "computer management" window.
Select "Device Manager" in the left pane, It will list all the existing devices up.
Expand "IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers" by clicking on the triangle in front of it.
Select one Intel device item under it, right click, uninstall.
Continue the process for all Intel items under "IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers"
Now restart the computer. At restart, windows will auto configure the appropriate native system driver.
Alternatively, you may try one more thing .... as it is ACPI related ....

Device queue is not busy.
Disable hibernate. Follow Hibernate - Enable or Disable. Disable sleep too. As it is a desktop computer, hibernate and sleep is not needed at all.

If the issues are still there even after disabling hibernate and sleep, remove the M-Audio sound card and uninstall Intel Rapid Storage.

This has been happening quite a lot recently so i ran a whole bunch of diagnostic tests thinking maybe it was the ram but that turned up nothing, after viewing the crash reports in bluescreenview i determined it could possibly be a software issue so i did a fresh install of windows. It was going fine for a few months but now it has started again and is driving me nuts!! please help

Hi,

first at all, because of x109 BSOD I switched from Home Edition x64 to Ultimate x64. After a fresh install and after 1 day I'm already having new BSOD caused by ntoskrnl.exe+75bc0.

I have already:

1) Updated all the drivers through driver genius
2) Updated BIOS and Windows
3) Changed a suspect broken RAM (I have 2*4GB ram) - by memtest, anyway, no problem after 9 passes
4) Changed Antivirus (Avast, then AVG and now Windows Essential)

I attach the SF file, hoping you will help me to resolve this problem!!!

My pc is having lots of BSOD for the past months.
The BluwScreenView shows that mostly the error has to do with ntoskrnl.exe+75bc0.

I tested my hdds and RAM (using MemTest) but there where no errors.

Are you overclocking? As you are getting BSODs, you should stop overclocking and run all the hardware components like CPU, GPU and RAM to their default settings.

Test your RAM modules for possible errors.
How to Test and Diagnose RAM Issues with Memtest86+
Run memtest for at least 8 passes, preferably overnight.

If it start showing errors/red lines, stop testing. A single error is enough to determine that something is going bad there.

Hi folks,

I'm a bit stumped on this error and was hoping some fine gents would have the time to look at this dump and see what might be causing my blue screens. It started in the last two weeks while I was playing SWTOR or HoN. There was no rhyme or reason when it happened, seems pretty random other than it happens while gaming. It's only happened about 5 times, but that seems consistent enough to make me worry.

Unfortunately I don't know what else has changed on my system other than installing Asus AI Suite and EVGA Precision for monitoring / fan control.

Please see the relevant dump files attached (Both seem different which is a bit odd... ).

I get the same BSOD every time. Usually, almost exclusively when I shut the laptop and it is supposed to sleep. What happens is, it turns off. I have attached the BSOD file. I am guessing my power supply is running into problems. Tell me I am wrong.... please?

This happened only recently, and as per title, totally random.
I dont have to be doing anything in particular, but it would just crash without any warning.

This is a month old build that has been plagued by this kernel BG of Kingston extreme ram Intel I Causing multiple BSOD ntoskrnl.exe+75bc0 K processor Gigabyte Motherboard and a later added EVGA GB video card All inside of a corsair case and W PS I do ntoskrnl.exe+75bc0 Causing multiple BSOD have an Associates in Networking and computer tech but I have never diagnosed a blue screen problem before so this is all new to me As stated in the thread title ntoskrnl.exe+75bc0 Causing multiple BSOD it is the ntoskrnl exe bc kernel that is causing the blue screens and I am not sure what to make of it I used blue screen view and from the help of the board here I used the windows debugging tool and that also pointed to the same ntoskrnl exe bc kernel I downloaded the windows diagnostic tool and hopefully that was done right and properly uploaded because I could use the help I did run memtest and was given a clean bill of health but I might run it again just to be on the safe side I would greatly appreciate any help And merry Christmas John

Please help! I feel in over my head for once.

I believe all of my drivers are current. I've reset BIOS to recommended settings. I ran one pass on memtest with no errors. I've run virus scans.

I'm not sure if it's related, but I think I may have had/have a memory leak related to svchost.exe LOCAL SERVICE EventSystem COM + Event System. The other day this Process was using 4GB of RAM, and now I'm getting all these BSODs. I could be wrong on which svchost it was.

A:[SOLVED] BSOD - ntoskrnl.exe+75bc0 - IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

Kernel-Power 41 simply means the PC was powered down manually either by the user unplugging the power or pushing the reset power button.

I ran 7 of the dumps all show being caused by NETIO.SYS which is a Windows networking driver, it appears to me it's calling for a stop because of interference from your Emsisoft Firewall program(fwwfp764.sys), try disabling it and using windows firewall.

Hi there,

Recently I've been getting BSOD while playing WoW. I'm not sure what details to give other than the dump so I'll just tell you about my computer:

Intel i5 4690 3.5-3.9 GHZ
EVGA GTX 970 SSC (super superclocked - the fans are designed not to turn on until card reaches 60c)
16gb Hyper X Fury ram
1tb WD Black HDD
Windows 7 OS

I noticed that I haven't crashed yet while EVGA Precision X is up (it has a custom aggressive fan curve I made). Maybe this has to do with the fact that it replaces fan drivers, or something? I don't know. I'm pretty clueless as to what's going on because all these parts are pretty new and it only recently started, but it's crashed three times today. Here are the dumps.
Any help you guys can give would be greatly greatly appreciated. Thanks a ton!

I have had an ongoing issue on my PC with Memory Management.  I have tried updating the firmware on my BIOS,  I have disabled unneeded drivers and updated as many as I could find updates for.  I have popped and swapped my two 4GB memory modules.  I did download Memtest but I have not yet created the bootable cd to run it.  I have uninstalled Comodo AV and replace with MS Security Essentials.  AV and MalwareBytes scans are clean.  I have been running BlueScreenView but it only points to ntoskrnl.exe

Yes, I agree that it is bad that the BSODs are occurring even with 1 RAM stick. But, multiple things are failing here, display and network.

Update the intel network driver from https://downloadcenter.intel.com/default.aspx.

Install the NVIDIA DRIVERS 314.22WHQL only.
Uninstall All nvidia items in Control Panel > Programs and features3D Vision Control Driver
3D Vision Driver
Graphics Driver
HD Audio Driver
PhysX
nvidia Update
(Are you using nvidia chipset drivers? If so, dont uninstall anything other than those are listed).
Now follow Drivers - Clean Left over Files after Uninstalling
Download 314.22 WHQL. While installing, Select Custom (Advanced) install. In the next page, follow this settings:
Also, test the RAM module for possible errors, too.
How to Test and Diagnose RAM Issues with Memtest86+
Run memtest for at least 8 passes, preferably overnight.
If it start showing errors/red lines, stop testing. A single error is enough to determine that something is going bad there.

Let us know the results.

I had a computer but thought it was time for a new one, got a new cpu video card motherboard power supply ram, all of it.
When I switched my hard drive to new computer i was getting BSOD so i reset the hard drive and installed windows 7
Kept getting it so i bought a new hard drive and put windows 7 on it and im still getting it
Switched this hard drive to the old computer and it was all fine but when i switched it back to this it started happening again.
I'd love help!

Hi all!

I've been fighting this random BSOD issue for a couple of months now, and am starting to get really frustrated with it.

I have included the various dumps as requested. I BELIEVE that it's related to the crappy Marvell RAID controller driver included on the mobo since I'm missing a disk in Windows (brand new.) But, I'm not experienced enough to debug this issue.

Could somebody take a look and help me troubleshoot this? Please let me know if you need anything else.

This is a fresh build made with a combination of new and older parts. Over the past week, It's crashed 5 times, under varying loads. I'm guessing it's a hardware issue, but I'm no expert. Please help me fix this issue.

I don't know how other's feel about this, but as a practice I will not download anything to my computer unless I know exactly what the content is.
 
Once the MiniTooBox scan is finished you can copy and then paste the results in your topic.  You can do the same with the minidumps.  I would post these separately, ex. post #3 minitoolbox, post #4 minidumps.
 
The Speccy is showing the 12V rail to be 8.064V.  I suspect this isn't accurate, but it would be worth putting a meter on it to be sure.  If it is accurate, then your PSU has a problem.

 Since it will be necessary for your computer to be on during this procedure, you need to be aware that you will be working with live 12Volt DC potentials, which if handled improperly may lead to electrical shock.

There are two devices commonly used to read the rail voltages: a PSU tester, and a multimeter. 
 
The PSU tester is the easiest to use since all that is necessary is to plug the different connectors into the tester and read the results on the LCD display. The problem with most of these is that they only perform a pass/fail test.  They will not provide you with actual voltage readings.
 
There are a variety of multiple meters, but this tutorial will address Analog and Digital multimeters. The advantage of these meters is that you will be able to obtain accurate real time voltage readings.
 
For those of you who wish to know more about multimeters there is an excellent article in Wikipedia.
 
 
Analog Multimeter
 

 
 
An Analog multimeter is a little more complicated to use. Both Analog and Digital multimeters need to be set to the appropriate voltage, but with an Analog multimeter, you will need to choose the voltage range and must read the proper scale. 
 
The Analog multimeter uses a needle display which moves from 0 across the scale until it reaches the voltage being tested. This multimeter has five major linear divisions with multiple scales to read a variety of ranges. An example would be three different ranges. The first is graduated in increments of 0 through 5, the second, 0 through 10, and the third, 0 through 25. Each of these ranges are subdivided into divisions that are graduated into tenths. In order to read 12 volts the 0 through 25 range would be the appropriate one. 
 
Because DC voltage has positive and negative potentials this device is polar sensitive, this means that if you reverse the two probes when reading a positive DC voltage it will read as a negative voltage. This is actually necessary to read negative DC voltages. The two probes are differentiated by their color, Black (negative), and Red (positive). To read a positive DC voltage, the correct probes must be used with their corresponding potentials (positive to positive and negative to negative). 
 
With the probes being used normally to read a negative DC voltage, the needle moves from the 0 to the left, "pegging" the needle. By reversing the probes you can properly read the negative voltages.

Hello all I am looking for help in debugging two issues which I have been getting for the past week I have the system Power Management set up to put the system to Sleep but when it goes to sleep I get a BSOD and the system shut downs When I try to shut down the system via Windows the Shut Down screen appears but the loading icon keeps running and the system never actually shuts down The BSOD Bug Check Code is x f and the Caused by Address is ntoskrnl exe bc I do not get these issues on ntoskrnl.exe+75bc0 ends never on for mode and Sleep Shutdown BSOD a Clean Boot so from what I have read I am guessing it is driver related but I am too novice to determine which driver it is I ran Windows Update and updated a bunch of the other equipment drivers but it hasn't helped Note I did install a new ASUS RT-AC U router and a HP Photosmart printer over the holidays but this issue did not appear right away after the install Diagnostics zip file attached Thanks in advance for any help -Rob

Hello,

This morning when i woke up when i switched my pc's monitor i got those beloved letters.My computer was on idle,probably it fell asleep.The settings on power options were on Balanced mode.Pc is on stock clocks.No overclock made.

One other odd thing I have noticed multiple times. I have the monitor set to sleep after 10 minutes, and the computer is set to never sleep. I've found the monitor off after I've been AFK for a while (as it should be after 10 minutes), and when I return and move the mouse or hit the keyboard, the monitor doesn't power on. The mouse light is on, the case power light is on and I hear fans, the disc drives open, etc., but no signal to monitor. Toggling the power on the monitor does nothing. Also, the sleep button on the keyboard does not put the PC to sleep as usual. So it's like it's frozen, but in a way it isn't? This doesn't happen every time, but occasionally.

Daemon Tools, Alcohol 120% and Power Archiver Pro uses SCSI Pass Through Direct (SPTD), which is a well known BSOD causer. Disabling it is not enough. Uninstall Daemon Tools at first. Then download SPTD standalone installer from Disk-Tools.com, and execute the downloaded file as guided below :

If it is grayed out, as in the picture, there is no more SPTD in your system, and you just close the window.
Two avast drivers viz aswrdr2.sys and aswtdi.sys are causing huge problems there. You are saying that you have uninstalled Avast? Its required. Uninstall Avast using Avast Uninstall Utility. i've had a couple of BSOD propbly caused by ntoskrnl.exe/dxgmms1.sys BSOD either ntoskrnl exe or dxgmms sys however in the minidump files i've got ntoskrnl exe is always mentioned i've attatched BSOD ntoskrnl.exe/dxgmms1.sys the most recent dump files so i started to try some testing i started by doing a clean install which didn't help i'm unable to link dump files from before the reinstall then i did some hardware testing i used Furmark to test my GPU had it running for hours no errors i ran memtest for hours no errors and i used seagates harddisk tests no errors on either tests BSOD ntoskrnl.exe/dxgmms1.sys i was able to run and yes i know i should propbly be testing my hardware over a - hour period But when i started prime and i got BSOD after testing for - minutes and assumed it was a CPU problem i immediately BSOD ntoskrnl.exe/dxgmms1.sys called the place i had bought my hardware from they said it was most likely the CPU but i should try and deactivate AMD cool n quiet i did that and didn't have any BSOD the next day and assumed that it might have been the problem but now i'm getting a dxgmms sys error BSOD i've got the newest graphis driver the latest DX update fully updated windows x I also just tried starting prime its been running for abit over hour now no BSOD Hope someone know more then i do about computers and might be able to give me a hint of what is wrong i'm hoping i've made an error

I am working on a laptop that has been getting random BSOD usually while nothing special is running. I have run memory checks, several antivirus scans to remove a lot of malware and trojans. Finally at my wits end with this. I would very much appreciate it if someone could point me in the right direction as to what is causing it.

I bought my computer last year Custom build Everything was working fine until January th this year I experienced my first BSOD on this machine I've tried rolling back graphics drivers which were the only ones BSOD Sparse Win7-64bit (hal.dll+12a3b, 0x00000124 ntoskrnl.exe+75bc0) I had installed recently and it didn't help because days later the same BSOD happened The next BSOD didn't happen for another month And recently this is my th one that I am attaching in the log compilation The other dmp's were Sparse BSOD 0x00000124 (hal.dll+12a3b, ntoskrnl.exe+75bc0) Win7-64bit erased by me Sparse BSOD 0x00000124 (hal.dll+12a3b, ntoskrnl.exe+75bc0) Win7-64bit by accident but they all said the same thing when I opened them in BlueScreenView I will try reseating hardware and more stress tests when I have time but I'm really lost here as its such a sparse occurrence that it makes it really hard for me to test in a reasonable amount of time I'm hoping someone here can see what my inexperienced eyes are missing Here's what I do know - I didn't install any drivers for a while month or so other than the nvidia driver which I rolled back - I am not overclocking and just running stock and default BIOS Though since my rd BSOD I have turned on XMP for my RAM didn't make anything worse I guess - The BSOD happens very randomly Twice while I was playing fairly low resource demanding games Once while I was just on desktop dragging organizing files And most recently Sparse BSOD 0x00000124 (hal.dll+12a3b, ntoskrnl.exe+75bc0) Win7-64bit while browsing Twitch tv on Chrome There seems to be nothing in common which is really frustrating - It doesn't seem to be related to how long my computer has been running The most recent happened minutes after turning my computer on - I have a minor suspicion it could be my sound because it's always given me issues distorting not being detected randomly at startup But it is onboard and I have no idea how to begin testing it I will post updates as I perform further tests will be running memtest thru the night last time only ran for hours Please let me know any good suggestions Thanks a lot

I have freshly installed windows 8.1 Enterprise (x64) and also installed the latest drivers for everything.

My configuration:
ASUS P8Z77-M
Intel i5-3570K
2X4GB DDR3 Kingston HyperX Predator
ATI Radeon HD6950 2GB
WD 1TB Caviar Black
CoolerMaster 550W Real Power

The BSOD is appearing whem I am playing games (mainly while playing Watch Dogs or CS:GO).

Tried with Driver Verifier for 24 hours, same result as before.
Tried Memtest86+ for 10+ hours, no problems.

Hello all,

I have had this issue on-and-off for roughly 4 months now; it is not bricking my system just seems to happen every-other log on (usually my first log-in)

My futile attempts of fixing this issue has resulted in purchasing new memory, a new graphics card, a new PSU and finally a new USB wi-fi dongle (have not received yet)

I have tried countless programs CCleaner, Blue screen view, tweaking.com, memtest, even a fresh install (twice). I do dabble in computer maintenance but this has been the first time I have been lost for solutions.
This is my first time, so If you need any further info just let me know.

Scroll down to the Utilities category, then scroll down to the "ATK0110 driver for WindowsXP/Vista/Windows 7 32&64-bit " (it's about the 8th item down).
Download and install it.
Go to C:\Windows\System32\drivers to check and make sure that the ASACPI.sys file is date stamped from 2009 or 2010 (NOT 2005). You may have to use the Device Manager to install the driver.

These crashes were caused by memory corruption (probably a driver). Please run these two tests to verify your memory and find which driver is causing the problem.

If you are overclocking anything reset to default before running these tests.
In other words STOP!!!
1-Memtest.

Reboot the system and wait for it to crash to the Blue Screen. Continue to use your system normally, and if you know what causes the crash, do that repeatedly. The objective here is to get the system to crash because Driver Verifier is stressing the drivers out. If it doesn't crash for you, then let it run for at least 36 hours of continuous operation (an estimate on my part).

If you can't get into Windows because it crashes too soon, try it in Safe Mode.
If you can't get into Safe Mode, try using System Restore from your installation DVD to set the system back to the previous restore point that you created.

Hi All, I recently built a new computer and am faced with blue screens. I completed multiple passes of memtest86+ without error, as well as a diskchk on both of my drives. After that I put a fresh copy of Windows 7 Professional x64 with SP1 included on the machine. I then allowed windows update to run, installed Avast and SpyBot Search&Destroy, and allowed SP-S&D to immunize my FF and IE.

After that I began to play games and had a BSOD, BAD_POOL_HEADER, and decided I needed to seek assistance.

I am hoping that this issue is software related and that someone here at sevenforums has the expertise required to resolve my dilemma. I ran Capt.'s Windows 7 Diagnostic Tool and attached the results to this post.

Download and install Driver Fusion.
Reboot the computer in Advanced Boot Options, safe mode. Search Driver Fusion in your start menu, and remove all components of your nVidia display driver.
Boot normally now. Go to Drivers - Download NVIDIA Drivers, Drivers > Beta and Legacy; search there with your cards particulars for GeForce 306.23 Driver, dated 13.9.2012 and install it.
Let us know the results. Depending on it, will decide our next steps.

Hi Guys, my comp has blue screened at-least 2 times a day pretty solid from just watching movies to playing games. It dosent mater what task I am doing it blue screens on everything. It even blue screened when I pushed the shut down button once lol. Im thinking there is a conflict between hardware or software or both.

It appears AMD has this new omega driver. Anyone have any experience with that? They say my card (ATI 7870) is compatible.

Edit: After reading some reviews maybe I don't want this new driver. They said it had tons of bug fixes if only you could get it to install.

Guys I encountered multiple BSODs, It happens when I'm just surfing the net, games or sometimes even just by watching videos/movies.

I'am just a novice in troubleshooting with drivers and just follow steps on this forum and other suggestions, some driver caused BSOD already stopped from reoccurring(Thanks guys), but I'am stuck on finding the source of this new BSODs your help is really appreciated.

Most of the time I get a BSOD with ntoskrnle.exe

Updated video card drivers and motherboard drivers. Had an ATI graphics card, pulled it and removed drivers. Running only onboard Intel hd3000 to eliminate the graphics card.
Same thing.

All of the minidump files blame usbhub.sys, do you have usb hub. The bugcheck code is FE, which usually point to USB device driver. One generic way to solve issue with usb BSODs is to go to device manager, under usb list, click properties and uninstall everything, then restart your computer

I've been suffering BSoDs relatively frequently for a while now, in my perception mostly when watching streamed flash video such as from YouTube or Twitch.tv.
Multiple system wipes/fresh installations have not resolved the issue.
RAM replacement seemed to allow me to catch a break at first, but BSoDs returned after few days of calm and I suffered 3 of them during the last 2 days. Western Digital Data Lifeguard Diagnostics and MemTest (ran multiple copies simultaneously for 8 hours) returned no errors.

According to the dump files, BSoDs were caused by a combination of ntoskrnl.exe and dxgmms1.sys.
Again, in my imagination most of them they seem to coincide with streaming flash video via Twitch.tv, which I watch using multiple instances of Google Chrome and Firefox. Although that might be completely unrelated.

As a layman, I'm puzzled, and thus turn to you for your insight and help.

Please start by removing the following programs from your computer:

The only thing in common with the two dump files provided is a memory access problem. Run RAM - Test with Memtest86+

Also, you can run Driver Verifier - Enable and Disable I recommend backing up important files and creating a system restore point or system image before using Driver verifier. If you are unable to boot Windows normally after enabling, start in safe mode. If safe mode also fails (this is rare, but does happen), run system restore/recovery from system image.

About a half a year ago I've bought a totally new PC configuration. It went clearly but in the last one and a half month i started to get BSOD. The problem is coming mostly during playing games but sometimes on a clear desktop the PC reset with a BSOD. I tried to solve it by searching the error code on the internet but so far no result. I tried to reinstall windwos with full updates, only the important driver updates, with new and old drivers. I tried to reproducate the mistake. But after a pure install the bsod happens. Mostly dxgmms1.sys and ntoskrnl.exe, but it is in the attachment. The PC comes with a guarantee/warrant decal so i can't make hardware modifications but i had to make sure it is not a software problem because they don't take it back...
I've alredy done memtest without any problems.

BSOD Analyse

I suspect both your Direct-X and Graphics Driver to be a causer. First of, do the below tutorial in order for a clean reinstallation of the Graphics Driver.
1) Nvidia tutorial

i) Make your way to Nvidia Drivers - Download NVIDIA Drivers and download the latest driver for your card, save it to your desktop for instance.
ii) Uninstall the Graphic driver you currently have and all its extensions (do not reboot yet)
iii) Download Driver Sweeper
iv) Get to safe mode (without network) and search for Driver Sweeper in your
v) Select all the Nvidia components and analyse them

2) ATI tutorial

i) Make your way to ATI Drivers - Downloads and download the latest driver for your card, save it to your desktop for instance
ii) Uninstall the Graphic driver you currently have and all its extensions (do not reboot yet)
iii) Download Driver Sweeper
iv) Get to safe mode (without network) and search for Driver Sweeper in your
v) Select all the ATI components and analyse them
vi) Clean them, head into Windows without internet and install the driver you've downloaded previously.
Direct-X

There's also some pointers to your Direct-X files. Option one is that it could be the Direct-X files. Option two is that it could be a part of the Windows system files, as Direct-X is a part of that. To be one the safe side, update your Direct-X files.

SFC /scannow

We usually ask people to do this command to check if Windows is corrupted. It's the most common one used to check if the Windows files are corrupted. If it'll find errors, it'll restore them.

I've been struggling with these random BSOD's only while playing games (mainly World of Warcraft) and they are random. Some days I get none, others I get 2-3 per day. From what I've read and heard from friends, these issues are probably due to DirectX, my GPU and or RAM. Perhaps it is another process interfering? Thanks in advance for the help. Hello, I am having BSOD randomly and it can occur even when I am not doing anything. I am using a toshiba satellite laptop and run on an ssd vertex3 ocz operating on windows 7 ultimate. There are two different stop codes, the one that occurs most frequently is 0x000000f4 and the other is 0x0000007A. I am not sure if it's a driver issue, I ran the verifier program on all drivers not manufactured by microsoft. I have updated the firmware on this ssd if that helps. I ran a full scan of microsoft security essentials and it detected no viruses. I am running out of options and don't know what to do, this problem is quite aggravating. Any help is appreciated! PS. I did not change any other hardware besides the hard drive which died and replaced it with the ssd, but it could be a driver issue, I am not sure.

Burn it in a blank cd. boot from the CD, click on "Accept", wait for it to finish detecting the drives, then in the upper left corner select "Basic Tests", then select "Long Test" and let it run.

I have got 8 BSoD's the last week, hitting completely random.

I'm running a new SSD from Corsair, a Force 3-series. This SSD is known for issues, and I suspect the SSD for being what causes the problem. However, this SSD was delivered with the newest firmware(1.3), and should(in theory) not cause problems... so I wonder if someone(with a little more knowlegde then me) could tell me what is causing the BSoD's by reading the dmp-files, and tell me how to fix the problem if fixable.

I have attached the 8 dmp-files in a zipped folder.



I strongly consider to send the SSD back to the store and get my money back(which should be no problem at all, considering the store I bought it from), and to change it out with another(more expensive and slower) SSD... . But if this problem is fixable(or has nothing to do with the SSD at all), then that's kind of unnecessary.

FWIW - I haven't upgraded to an SSD because of these issues. And I won't do it until we stop seeing SSD issues (and we see more diagnostic tools).

Here's my standard suggestions for SSD issues:

So a few weeks back I started getting very frequent BSOD's (every 10 mins or so). I eventually narrowed it down to mcdbus.sys. A driver to do with MagicISO, after removing it it seemed to fix my BSOD issue and I haven't had a problem since... until this morning. I had left my computer on over night and woke up to a log in screen.

BlueScreenView shows that it was something to do with 'ntoskrnl.exe' and so I started the google search. While looking I got another BSOD and after rebooting BlueScreenViewer says it was related to ntoskrnl.exe.

Please turn off Driver Verifier by checking off the "Delete existing settings" button on the first page of the program, then reboot the system. Driver Verifier is supposed to cause4 BSOD's - and will, in most cases, continue to cause them until it's turned off.

Although the dump files don't show much by themselves, I did note the presence of sptd.sys. This is a driver used by Daemon Tools/Alcohol 120% - and is a known cause of BSOD's in Win7 systems.

Please uninstall the program, then use this free tool to ensure that the offending sptd.sys driver has been removed from your system: DuplexSecure - FAQ

Another well-known BSOD cause is the ASACPI.sys driver dated from 2005. Please visit the Asus support website and download the appropriate package to update this driver. It's called the ATK0110 ACPI Utility driver - and is usually found in the Utility section or the ATK section of the downloads for your motherboard model. In the event that it's not listed, please post back with the model of your motherboard.

Also, there are many older drivers on your system that could be causing this. Please follow these directions to update them (particularly those highlighted in RED):

- Create a System Restore Point prior to doing any of this. DO NOT mess with the drivers themselves - leave the Windows\System32\drivers directory alone unless we specifically direct you to it!

Hello all Ok so unfortunately I only have one of the two minidump files available from the last two BSOD's I've had I have the one from about a month ago because I saved it to my USB stick however I had another BSOD last night which created a new dumpfile as expected but today it's now gone maybe it was running ccleaner after the BSOD Anyway none the less I will supply you with as much info as I can including the info in the dmp file from month ago --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- st BSOD happened about a month ago I ran bluescreenview-x and it pointed to ntoskrnl exe being the issue but you can see this with the files I included I ran the diagnostic today using SF Diagnostic Tool by taking the old dmp file from my usb and placing to the windows minidump therefore I have renamed the folder to ntfs.sys ntoskrnl.exe and BSOD's correspond with the date when it happened but of course other settings will be relevant to today Nature of BSOD Computer had been idol then suddenly turned off and rebooted only to be greeted with a message stating an unexpected shutdown The computer is set to sleep after an hour and this may have been BSOD's ntfs.sys and ntoskrnl.exe around the time when it was meant to sleep But since the crash it has gone to sleep many times ok BSOD's ntfs.sys and ntoskrnl.exe My first suspicion was any software or changes I had made to the computer in last few days so I made a system restore as far back as I could which was probably about a week I also used seagete HDD tools to check the health of my HDD and everything stated fine Everything ran fine from there up until last night when same thing happened again in very similar way but different error this time nd BSOD I am missing the dmp file for this one now but I did run bluescreenview-x after it happened and it pointed to ntfs sys being the issue Nature of BSOD Verymuch the same as st BSOD computer had been idol for about and hour then shutdown unexpectedly and greeted me with crash message upon restarting to desktop I have not done a system restore this time but I have now unistalled java as It it the only change I have made in last few days ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I should also note even though I am sure it is not the cause I have a custom start orb so I'm pretty sure I patched the system for third party themes but I've had this for years When the bsod happened last night I had My usb sticked connected xbox wireless receiver and a wacom tablet ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- What would you all suggest my next steps are It may never happen again but I am thinking memory test and of course backup Thank you in advance for any help

Depending on the crash dump, it appears to be some sort of memory malfunction. Either the RAM is failing or any driver is passing some bad info to the memory.

Test your RAM modules for possible errors. How to Test and Diagnose RAM Issues with Memtest86+
Run memtest86+ for at least 8 consecutive passes.

If it start showing errors/red lines, stop testing. A single error is enough to determine that something is going bad there.

If it does not show any error, enable Driver Verifier to monitor the drivers. Driver Verifier - Enable and Disable
Run Driver Verifier for 24 hours or the occurrence of the next crash, whichever is earlier.



   Information
Why Driver Verifier:
It puts a stress on the drivers, ans so it makes the unstable drivers crash. Hopefully the driver that crashes is recorded in the memory dump.

How Can we know that DV is enabled:
It will make the system bit of slow, laggy.



   Warning
Before enabling DV, make it sure that you have earlier System restore points made in your computer. You can check it easily by using CCleaner looking at Tools > System Restore.

If there is no points, make a System Restore Point manually before enabling DV.



   Tip

If you fail to get on the Desktop because of DV, Boot into Advanced Boot Options > Safe mode. Disable DV there. Now boot normally again, and try following the instruction of enabling DV again.
If you cannot boot in Safe mode too, do a System Restore to a point you made earlier.

Let us know the results, with the subsequent crash dumps, if any.

I've had this machine for six months and today (10/3) marks the first BSOD I've had, which occurred while I was browsing online. It may seem like I'm jumping the gun on this ? ony one BSOD ? but I couldn't find anything on the forum that seemed to specifically match this and I was thinking it might be nice to nip it in the bud.

Dears I have purchased years back and from that I am facing BSOD I have searched ntoskrnl.exe+75bc0 IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL a lot but cannot find any solution I have checked hard drive with IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL ntoskrnl.exe+75bc0 error-checking tool in windows but it shows OK I also completely service the laptop and apply proper thermal paste and do all stuff to eliminate all issues if it occurs because of improper ventilation But nothing helpful for me Then I unplug RAM from a slot and BSOD was not happening as much like before But from few weeks it is happening again as I did not attached that RAM again but cannot able to understand that why this error occurs again and again Unfortunately I have performed disk-cleanup - days ago so I just have dump files which I am attaching Sometime BSOD occurs but dump file won't able to store in dump folder and then I need to shut off the system by holding the power button I have search on internet and some share software to check harddrive using this software and this shows quot Air Flow Temperature quot which is highlighted in red color Does it is the cause of BSOD Please any one review my dump files and help me to resolve the issue Thanks in Advance Umar

You can run it via Windows or DOS. Do note that the only difference is simply the environment you're running it in. In Windows, if you are having what you believe to be driver related issues that may cause conflicts or a false positive, it may be a wise decision to choose the most minimal testing environment (DOS). I always recommend running Seatools in DOS if absolutely possible.

hello, i've recently bought a new computer but finding it frustrating that i keep getting the bsod randomly as i use my computer. using blue screenview, its saying that the bsod was caused by ntoskrnl.exe and Ntfs.sys. i am in desperate need of help and would be very grateful for any solutions bought forward.

I get randomally BSODs for over a month and I need some help.

I have 6 dmp files:
I got 4 BSODs caused by address ntoskrnl.exe+75b80,
1 BSOD caused by address win32k.sys+48005,
1 BSOD caused by address Ntfs.sys+1f745

The crash address of all of them is ntoskrnl.exe+75b80.

Bug Check String (same order as before):
1) UNEXPECTED_KERNEL_MODE_TRAP
2) PFN_LIST_CORRUPT
3) SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION
4) KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED
5) SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION

Please tell me which other information do you need, and how can I get it, and i will do so.

My computer reformatted itself about a month or so ago and I had to reinstall windows a couple of times. I initially installed a cracked version of windows but moved to a legitimate copy as soon as I figured out that I could. Considering my laptop is custom, all of the drivers had to me installed individually. However, when I found my reinstallation and driver discs that came with my computer, I reinstalled everything a third time. All three times, there have been BSODs.

If that is your problem then all the other dump files are not valid, most likely. If memory is the problem, almost anything and everything will be blamed, even though they are not at fault.

Please download from this site only http://www.memtest.org/ in the middle of the page are the Download links, you can download the ISO.zip or the Auto USB Flash Drive installer.zip

Extract the Zip file. If you chose the ISO image, burn it to a CD using Windows Disk Image Burner or any Image burner you may have. If you downloaded the Auto USB installer, extract it, insert your USB 2.0 Flash Drive and take note of the drive letter. Run the installer, select the Flash Drive Letter, check the format box and press next. It will install memtest86+ to a flash drive. You can use either V4.20 or V5.01. Boot from your selected media. If you use V5.01 it will tell you to press certain buttons at the start, please press no buttons. The test will begin on it's own and continue to run until you stop it. It needs to run for 8 complete passes or until you receive an error. If you receive an error, stop the test. Even 1 error is a fail. Each pass tests a different part of the ram and each of the 10 tests in each pass tests something different. It takes a minimum of 8 passes to completely test the ram, more passes are better. It is quite a long test and will take several hours depending on how much ram you have. Due to the time length it is best to run overnight. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask..

For some obscure reason my system keeps crashing when it is on idle mode. I keep gettin that darn infernal msg that the crash was caused by ntfs.sys I have tried each and everythin possible that I know of yet the issue is not resolved.

I have had 6 bsod's when on the net either on espn.com, youtube.com, or just playing a flashgames. It has always happened at night, when the computer sounds like it is doing a background scan on my computer, but I am not sure if it actually is.

I have ran the memtest86+ and it went through 12 tests without failing.

Pretty simple. you even mention it in the title of the thread. Your problem is being caused by Symantec, Specifically SYMEFA64.SYS

I would remove and replace it with Microsoft Security essentials

Googling a bit seems to point to hardware issues, the fact that it only happens when you leave the computer on alone but not when you are using it would point me to think there's something going on with powersaving options, not sure tough, are you overclocking your processor?
 
Maybe it has to do with so many harddrives plugged in at one and hard drive power saving features, but i'm no expert tough.

In the recent 2 weeks I'm getting around 2-3 BSOD per day

The post is not made following the Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) Posting Instructions. So we are having an incomplete view of the situation only.

Moreover, there are multiple bugchecks.

Anyway, disable bluetooth in device manager. Disable the card reader, too. These two are causing the issues there, and mostly those are not needed.

If you must to use those, try for updates from Laptops and netbooks :: Lenovo B Series laptops :: Lenovo B5400 Notebook :: 20278 - Lenovo Support (US) .... but I will suggest you disable those.

Let us know for any further BSOD, properly.

Over the past months I have been plagued by continues blue screening and crashes. The crashes can happen randomly doing any task such as browsing or playing games from steam. I have reinstalled windows 8 and upgraded to windows 8.1. The reinstall did not do anything to stop the crashes. I have also updated any drivers including GPU drivers.

It is my first post at SevenForums.com, so hello everyone!

I thought I would figure it out on my own, but I was wrong. For a couple of weeks I've been struggling with bsods, which occur mainly on cold boot, 3 to 4 times before everything stabilizes. I've already tested my ram with memtest and after 7 full cycles there were no errors at all. I also did chkdsk for every disk, tested the CPU and VRAM. Nothing there. I haven't installed any new hardware that might corrupt my pc. So I am stuck now, and the only thing I could do was to kindly ask You for help.

Hi I build my own rig a month ago And since than the amount of BSOD I've gotten kept growing I ran all the stuff chdsk sfc hdd checkers memtest and all said it was just fine However Samsung HDD ESTOOLS gave me a RAM error So I got the HDD replaced but my BSOD still occur but less frequent System specs Windows Ultimate x Retail version disc has slight surface scratches could this cause it Age of system is a month I guess OS is STOP ntfs error ntoskrnl & BSOD like weeks old because of reinstall Symptoms bosd Nothing system just bosd at random times PC starts programs start to crash for no reason than the aero peek also crashes and all apps just crash This is a sign that a bosd is BSOD STOP error ntfs & ntoskrnl coming up really soon And so it does BOSD after a random amount of time Maybe it has nothing to do with the BOSD but I noticed that AVG is sometimes shutting down for no reason I am sure I have no virus I used the same installation disc for years and on my previous pc there were no problems with this stuff Tried solutions Seatools Samsung ESTOOLS sfc scannow The following file is always corrupted and will never repair C Windows Help mui diskmgt CHM chkdsk r memtest However I read somewhere that it matters if you run memtest when the system has been off for a long time I only ran it at the evening when I was done using my PC and ran it for hours no errors I tried downloading other versions of w to get the diskmgt chm file to replace it but it seems newer w ultimate x versions don't have that file I also couldn't find the file on Google could this be the problem How to get it repaired because the file on the disc is marked by sfc as corrupt So whats wrong with my pc Is it the sata cables Is it the motherboard Could the scratched installation dvd be the problem I will add in a zip the bosd dumps amp system file collection and the system health report In case the disc gets suspicious and is the only reason to bosd than I will get a new one from my neighbour and retry but I would like to do this solution as last one Sorry for my bad grammar I'm from Holland and even my Dutch grammar sucks Edit new BSOD never seen this one before Attempt to write readonly memory After writing this story I enabled the verifier exe using the settings in the guide posted on this forum Than I clicked repair all button in AVG to see if it would turn AVG back on It came with an update which required me to reboot So I reboot and my PC just BOSD directly at powering on Than I restarted my PC and it restarted while booting on after that restart it booted just fine New BOSD minidump will be in the attachments

You seem to have multiple problems that could still be HW and or drivers.

What I don't understand from your story is the statement that you replaced the harddrive while the testsoftware indicated RAM. Is this a mistake in your (otherwise fine) English?

Do you have BSOD's when you run the system in Safe Mode?

Can you de-install AVG, reboot and download latest? Its driver is not installed correctly. (the AVG AVI loader driver)

I got a BSOD twice in the last 5 days. According to WhoCrashed, the first one came from ntfs.sys and the next one from ntoskrnl.exe/ntkrnlmp.exe. Apparently most likely a driver/memory error.

The OS is Win7 x64 Ultimate Professional retail. The PC is slightly less than 2 years old and so is the Windows installation (never have reinstalled it). The only newer parts are a PSU and 2 extra RAM sticks (identical to the other two and installed in the correct positions) to go from 4 to 8gb. Both of those came about a month ago.

Any ideas?

Please remove any CD/DVD virtualization software, such as Daemon Tools/Alcohol 120%, as they use a driver called sptd.sys that is known to cause BSODs. Use add/remove programs to remove the software. After removing the software, use the sptd.sys uninstaller to remove sptd.sys from the system.

I prefer TotalMounter as my CD/DVD virtualization software as it allows me to burn images to a virtual CD/DVD if I just want an ISO file instead of a disc, and it is free.

Many use MagicISO - Convert BIN to ISO, Create, Edit, Burn, Extract ISO file, ISO/BIN converter/extractor/editor as well, which is also free.

Hi all,

I've been getting BSODs now and then for quite a while now since building my PC, when it wakes up from sleep.

I've decided to do a clean reinstall of Windows 7 Professional 64bit last week to see if that helped, but alas its back

My drivers are all up to date, and my RAM sticks are fine, along with my HDD after doing tests. Its just almost frustrating when I leave my PC to sleep, and it decides to BSOD or even just restart on wake.

We need to know, because there is enough reason to suspect the RAM.

Test your RAM modules for possible errors. How to Test and Diagnose RAM Issues with Memtest86+
Run memtest86+ for at least 8 consecutive passes.

If it start showing errors/red lines, stop testing. A single error is enough to determine that something is going bad there.

If it does not show any error, enable Driver Verifier to monitor the drivers. Driver Verifier - Enable and Disable
Run Driver Verifier for 24 hours or the occurrence of the next crash, whichever is earlier.

Why Driver Verifier:
It puts a stress on the drivers, ans so it makes the unstable drivers crash. Hopefully the driver that crashes is recorded in the memory dump.

How Can we know that DV is enabled:
It will make the system bit of slow, laggy.



   Warning
Before enabling DV, make it sure that you have earlier System restore points made in your computer. You can check it easily by using CCleaner looking at Tools > System Restore.

If there is no points, make a System Restore Point manually before enabling DV.



   Tip

If you fail to get on the Desktop because of DV, Boot into Advanced Boot Options > Safe mode. Disable DV there. Now boot normally again, and try following the instruction of enabling DV again.
If you cannot boot in Safe mode too, do a System Restore to a point you made earlier.

Let us know the results, with the subsequent crash dumps, if any.

Hi guys,

my desktop was perfectly fine a week ago and suddenly I got a BSOD or two per day (4 to 5 hours using my computer).
All that I can remember is that I upgraded my GC driver 2 days before that and did some trick I didn't understand in the registry to help Battlefield 4 loading facter. I don't think it's related but who knows...

Please find attached a perfmon output, SysnativeFileCollectionApp and 2 dumps from today and yesterday.
The first one was without driver verifier and the second was with it. I guess it should help somehow.
I'm very interesting in learning how you could debug this so, don't hesitate to share your knowledge.

To me, these 2 dumps seems really different and I can't get what could provoke this, unless it is a hardware default which I really hope not...

Thanks a lot in advance, I will keep diging on google on my side.

Check your HDD using HD Tune and post a screenshot of the Health tab. Also run System File Checker SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker - Windows 7 Help Forums and run a Checkdisk. How to use CHKDSK (Check Disk) | Windows 7 Forums
NTFS.sys is indicative of errors in the filesystem, so you have to check that using the links I provided.
