I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Your Avnex Ltd. Virtual Audio Device driver dates from 2008, please update it or remove it from your system
Driver Reference Table - vcsvad.sys

sxuptp.sys dates from 2009 and appears to be part of a Belkin USB networking device (more info here: Driver Reference Table - sxuptp.sys ) If this is a wireless USB device, here's my rant about them:

Quote:
I do not recommend using wireless USB devices. Especially in Win7 systems.
These wireless USB devices have many issues with Win7 - and using Vista drivers with them is almost sure to cause a BSOD.
Should you want to keep using these devices, be sure to have Win7 drivers - DO NOT use Vista drivers!!!
An installable wireless PCI/PCIe card that's plugged into your motherboard is much more robust, reliable, and powerful.

If the above suggestions don't fix the BSOD problems, post back and we'll try Driver Verifier on all 3rd party drivers (instructions here: Driver Verifier Settings )

Hi, I have had my new computer since June, It is a new Haswell one and I use the integrated graphics. Over the last 3 months there has been a few random crashes but not many, it has performed well but the graphics driver sometimes crashes and when it does it says its for windows 8 not windows 7. Today it's been on since about 9 so quite a long time then just at 10 to 5 it BSOD and I went into the BIOS and looked at the temps and it was 30 degrees system and 50 degrees CPU. I am not sure what caused the BSOD and would like you guys to have a look for me.

Thanks =)

Welcome to the forum, Jayrstar44,

I can see that the process that it's faulting on is Cabalmain.exe - it looks like the driver dump_wmimmc.sys that is causing the BSODs and this is GameGuard which is installed with quite a few games.

One fix I have seen is that you will need to delete GameGuard folder inside the Cabal directory and allow it to reinstall.

Please let us know how it goes - or if you need more help.

I am running Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit, the PC itself is just over a year old.

I have started to play an online game again, possibly the first time since I got this computer. It seems to crash only when I use the game and happens after being online different periods of time.

I ran the memtest and found no problems.

I ran the windows driver verifier and found I got a blue screen on it with eset security so I replaced that and still I get the blue screens while on this game.

I have attached all the files asked for in the instructions.

Cheers,

Hugh

None of these were driver verified.

First thing to do is to remove sptd.sys

Please remove any CD visualization programs such as Daemon Tools and Alcohol 120%.

They use a driver, found in your dmp, called sptd.sys, that is notorious for causing BSODs.

Use this SPTD uninstaller DuplexSecure - Downloads DuplexSecure - FAQ

when you're done you can use this Freeware MagicISO Virtual CD/DVD-ROM(MagicDisc) in its place.
Second run a system file check
Run a system file check to verify and repair your system files.
To do this type cmd in search, then right click to run as administrator, then
SFC /SCANNOW

It may need to be run up to three times before sucessful

Read here for more information SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker

Let us know the results from the report at the end.

If both of these come back ok run these two

1-Memtest.

*Download a copy of Memtest86 and burn the ISO to a CD using Iso Recorder or another ISO burning program. Memtest86+ - Advanced Memory Diagnostic Tool

*Boot from the CD, and leave it running for at least 5 or 6 passes.

Just remember, any time Memtest reports errors, it can be either bad RAM or a bad motherboard slot.

Test the sticks individually, and if you find a good one, test it in all slots.

RAM - Test with Memtest86+

2-Driver verifier

Quote:
I'd suggest that you first backup your data and then make sure you've got access to another computer so you can contact us if problems arise. Then make a System Restore point (so you can restore the system using the Vista/Win7 Startup Repair feature).

In Windows 7 you can make a Startup Repair disk by going to Start....All Programs...Maintenance...Create a System Repair Disc - with Windows Vista you'll have to use your installation disk or the "Repair your computer" option at the top of the Safe Mode menu .

Then, here's the procedure:
- Go to Start and type in "verifier" (without the quotes) and press Enter
- Select "Create custom settings (for code developers)" and click "Next"
- Select "Select individual settings from a full list" and click "Next"
- Select everything EXCEPT FOR "Low Resource Simulation" and click "Next"
- Select "Select driver names from a list" and click "Next"
Then select all drivers NOT provided by Microsoft and click "Next"
- Select "Finish" on the next page.

Reboot the system and wait for it to crash to the Blue Screen. Continue to use your system normally, and if you know what causes the crash, do that repeatedly. The objective here is to get the system to crash because Driver Verifier is stressing the drivers out. If it doesn't crash for you, then let it run for at least 36 hours of continuous operation (an estimate on my part).

If you can't get into Windows because it crashes too soon, try it in Safe Mode.
If you can't get into Safe Mode, try using System Restore from your installation DVD to set the system back to the previous restore point that you created.

Recently I have been experiencing blue screen errors when I play this online game called Elsword. It occurs randomly as well. I can play for a few hours with no issues, or in a couple of minutes my computer will either freeze or give me the BSOD. When I reload my laptop, I sometimes experience the BSOD when I'm putting in my password to log into Windows.

Hello postee's of SevenForums. I've been playing this game Elsword for quite some time, and recently, been experiencing the BSOD while playing in dungeons. This doesn't occur anywhere else in-game, nor while playing any other games. When the BSOD occurs, it says something about unistalling hardware/software, disabling BIOS memory, reboots back to desktop, and then a window pops relating files to the problem. I have tried reinstalling my GPU drivers, reverted back to stock clocks on my GPU and CPU and even closing applications running in the background.

My specs are as follows

CPU - FX-6300
GPU - Radeon HD 7870 OC Edtion (Gigabyte)
SSD - Samsung 840 series 256GB
RAM - 8GB
MB - ASRock 970 Xtreme4
Here are the files that are apparently associated with the problem.

I apologize. I just read the BSOD instructions concerning the dump files.

Hello Butterflyes. You are having stop 0x116 BSOD which is a graphics/display related BSOD.

As you have the latest version of display driver installed, I would suggest you to install the 314.22 WHQL only.
Uninstall All nvidia items in Control Panel > Programs and features3D Vision Control Driver
3D Vision Driver
Graphics Driver
HD Audio Driver
PhysX
nvidia Update
(Are you using nvidia chipset drivers? If so, dont uninstall anything other than those are listed).
Now follow Drivers - Clean Left over Files after Uninstalling
Boot normally now. Go to Drivers - Download NVIDIA Drivers, Download 314.22 WHQL. While installing, Select Custom (Advanced) install. In the next page, follow this settings:
The computer seems to be old by a couple of years. Is it running hot? Upload a snapshot Using Speccy.
Download and install Speccy.
File> Save snapshot.
Save it on desktop.
Zip it and upload it following following Screenshots and Files - Upload and Post in Seven Forums .
Stress test the Graphics Card using Furmark.
Video Card - Stress Test with Furmark

Check if the Power Supply Unit (PSU) supplying adequate power to the computer or not.
eXtreme Power Supply Calculator
Also let us know the wattage of the PSU.

Are you overclocking? As you are getting BSODs, you should stop overclocking and run all the hardware components like CPU, GPU and RAM to their default settings. Also set the BIOS to default, too.

Recommendations:Crashes point primarily to a hard drive related problem. This could mean hard disk corruption, bad sectors, a failing hard disk, Windows files or registry corruption, viruses, or memory problems. If you are overclocking any hardware, please stop.

Run Disk Check with both boxes checked for all HDDs. Post back your logs for the checks after finding them using Event Viewer. In Event Viewer, expand Windows Logs, click Application to let it load, right click Application and click Find.... Search for chkdsk or wininit to find the logs.
For any drives that do not give the message: Windows has checked the file system and found no problemsrun disk check again as above. In other words, if it says: Windows has made corrections to the file systemafter running the disk check, run the disk check again.Check a drive for errors

Open Event Viewer
Run all Basic tests with SeaTools: S.M.A.R.T. Check, Short Drive Self Test, Drive Information, Short Generic, and Long Generic. Run the tests for all HDDs.SeaTools for Windows

SeaTools for DOS
Hard Drive (HDD) Diagnostics Bootable Hard Drive Diagnostics
Run a system file check to check Windows for corruption: Click Start Menu
Click All Programs
Click Accessories
Right click Command Prompt
Click Run as administrator
Type
Code:
sfc /scannow
and press Enter
Once it is complete, make note of the message. If it says Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations., restart your computer and post back
If the message does not say Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations., restart your computer and do steps 1-6 again.
You may need to do steps 1-6 up to three times with a restart in between each run to resolve all corrupted files.
If you still have corrupted files after a fourth run, post back here with the following:Click Start Menu
Click Computer
Open your C: drive
Open Windows
Open Logs
Open CBS
Copy and paste CBS.log or CBS (it may not have the log extension) to a location you will remember.
Compress (zip) the CBS file and attach the .zip file to your next post.
Download and install Malwarebytes, update it, do not start the free trial, and then run a full scan. Also run a full scan with your antivirus software installed on your system. If you do not have antivirus software installed, I recommend:Microsoft Security Essentials coupled with Malwarebytes. Do not start the free trial of Malwarebytes. Just use the standalone version, update it, and scan your computer once a week with Malwarebytes and with Microsoft Security Essentials.Malwarebytes : Free anti-malware download

Microsoft Security Essentials - Microsoft Windows
Make sure to update the security software before running the full scan.

Run Memtest86+ for at least 7-10 passes. It may take up to 22 passes to find problems. Make sure to run it once after the system has been on for a few hours and is warm, and then also run it again when the system has been off for a few hours and is cold.Test RAM With Memtest86+Also, in case Memtest86+ misses anything and comes up with no errors, run the extended version of the Windows Memory Diagnostics Tool for at least five passes. You may want to run both Memtest86+ and the Windows Memory Diagnostics Tool overnight since they take a long time to complete (run them an hour before bed each of the next two nights and check before going to sleep that they are still running).Diagnosing memory problems on your computer

Outdated and Problematic Drivers:You should update/replace/remove the following drivers. Any drivers that are known to cause BSODs, please remove the software or remove the drivers and then remove the device; steps to do so are given after the list of outdated drivers. If you have ASACPI.sys installed, make sure it is updated and not pre-2009; pre-2009 versions are known to cause BSODs:

A:BSOD while playing online flash game in chrome

Over the past year you have had 33 crashes of various causes. These are the things currently on your system that can cause them.

Old drivers including your video driver, mobo driver, networking driver. Any of these can be (and probably are) part of the problem.

Code:
nvm60x64.sys 10/7/2006 12:31:34 AM
nvlddmkm.sys 10/10/2006 2:28:37 AM
aec6880.sys 2/1/2007 3:49:46 AM
Rt64win7.sys 2/26/2009 5:04:13 AM
All your Creative drivers are over 2 years old and either need to be updated or re-installed in compatibility mode.
Related to dtsoftbus01.sys Virtual Bus Driver from DT Soft Ltd is also a known cause of BSOD's and should be removed.

I also see the nvidia overclocking utility. If you are overclocking STOP.

Sudden BSoD while playing an online game in my 2 year old laptop. Then after the computer restarts and prompted to choose to run the windows normally or repair. After choosing the run normally, I got BSoD again. Not sure if it is really one since I don't see the error code. Then the computer restarts. Then, prompted again and chose run normally and it happened again. For the third time, now the Windows started normally.

A:Sudden BSoD While Playing an Online Game, Error 0x50

This error 0x50 can have multiple causes : hardware (memory), Antiviruses, HDD problems. Try use Last good Known Configuration with F8 key pressing while you log in. After you log in then check Hardware drivers, antivirus, HDD chkdsk /f /r options....

First of all, I've been getting these bsod's like 3-5 times, and I have just a 4 week old computer. My friend has helped me with them and we have fixed all the problems ( mostly driver problems ). My friend isn't available at the moment so I turned to you guys.

So I was playing the browser game, Command & Conquer Tiberium Alliances which I have played for like few weeks already without problems. The blue screen just came out of nowhere ( meaning I didn't do anything special than what I usually do, when it has worked fine, I had only browser opened, google chrome ).

I literally feel like now. I just came home from gym and hoped to play and chill on my computer, not to solve problems again.

Thanks in advance !

Any ideas? here is the .dmp file.

A:BSOD when playing Command & Conquer Tiberium Alliances online game

Welcome aboard, BenQz

It seems that your problem is related with Intel(R) USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller Driver (iusb3xhc.sys).

You may try to update it from http://downloadcenter.intel.com/ or http://www.intel.com/p/en_US/support...-prod/usb3ehcd.

Do it also: Intel? USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller Driver — How to enable Windows* Software Trace logging under booting and S3-S5 states.

In addition. Run RAM - Test with Memtest86+, for at least 8 passes. Better you run it overnight.

A:Help please! I need help playing a Online MMO game

Hi,

I suspect the problrm is (and the GM has eluded to the same, thats basically what they mean by 'update your chipset') that your graphics card just isn't good enough for the game. Unfortunately with a laptop and especially one that old, there is nothing you can do to upgrade it, newer drivers won't make any real difference.

The realistic options available to you are

a) Live with it on that machine, there is nothing you can do about it.
b) Buy a new laptop with a newer graphics card and processor etc.
3) Play on a desktop with a better graphics card.

I can't actually look at the specs to compare while I am at work, my 'internet police' block so much! However, based on what you have said I don't think I would find any better solutions.

Hi folks I have an odd problem PS2 won't game PS3 go online while playing I have a gb PS the model that features backwards compatibility with PS games I can play PS stuff on it with no trouble The problem is that when a PS game disc is inserted the PS loses PS3 won't go online while playing PS2 game its Internet connection I first noticed it because I was trying to transfer songs from Rock Band a PS game and use them with Rock Band a PS game In order to do this you need a software update for the original Rock Band disc And I can t download that update because whenever I put the RB disc into the PS it won t go online At first I thought it was an issue with the Rock Band game disc itself so I tried talking to their tech support but it turns out the same thing happens with ANY game for PS If I m already logged into the PlayStation Network when I put in a PS game it immediately boots me offline and gives me a quot You have been signed out quot message If I power the PS on with a PS game in there it won t connect to begin with It does this for every PS game I ve tried I have no idea why Is this normal not being able to access the PS s internet capability while a PS game is loaded I can t find any reference to it while Googling but maybe I m not using the right search terms And if it s not normal any idea why it might be happening and how I could fix it I have a gb PS that uses an Ethernet cable to connect to the Internet It works perfectly well UNLESS I put a PS game in there PS games can connect just fine and it also connects when there s a DVD or Blu-ray disc in there or when there s no disc at all I ve tried replacing the ethernet cable and connecting the cable directly to the modem instead of the router Nothing works I honestly don t think it s a problem with my network It s something about the PS itself that chokes out the internet connection when a PS game disc is inserted Any ideas nbsp

Um, hello...

I installed my downloaded Windows 8 last night, but I already downloaded it, um... last July, somewhere near there, cant exactly remember the month.

When I decide to play an Online Game, Grand Chase to be precise, the blue screen with the DPC WATCHDOG VIOLATION thing appears right before GC can start... I am not a computer expert, um... so, can you help me?

Because of my 'addiction', it seems like I'm incomplete if I can't have my daily dose of GC...

Hello, I am on a wireless internet. I had a problem with the internet, so I bought a new router/gateway adapter. No luck. I then tried moving the computer a couple feet. It worked! I could play online games fine, and my connection was 10/10.
Sadly, after an hour, the internet slowly died, and now when I try to play an online game, it crashes, and I must restart the internet.
Help? Tips?
EDIT: Right now it's 10/10 connectivity. When I try to play an online game though, it will die. Also, when I watch online videos, it will get slower. Basically when I am doing something online besides looking at websites, it will die down a bit.

A:Internet dies when playing an online game.

Please supply the following info, exact make and models of the equipment please.

What country are you located in.
Name of your ISP (Internet Service Provider).
What is the expected Upstream/Downstream speed for your ISP Connection?
Make and exact model of the broadband modem.
Make and exact model and hardware version of the router (if a separate unit).
Model numbers can usually be obtained from the label on the device.
Connection type, wired or wireless.
If wireless, encryption used, (none, WEP, WPA, or WPA2)
Make and model of your computer.
Version and patch level of Windows on all affected machines, i.e. XP-Home (or XP-Pro), SP1-SP2, Vista, etc.
The Internet Browser in use, IE, Firefox, Opera, etc.

Please give an exact description of your problem symptoms, including the exact text of any error messages.

If you're using a wireless connection, have you tried a direct connection with a cable to see if that changes the symptoms? Have you disabled all encryption on the router to see if you can connect that way? Have you connected directly to the broadband modem to see if this is a router or modem/ISP issue?

If there are other computers on the same network, are they experiencing the same issue, or do they function normally?

On any affected computer, I'd also like to see this:

Hold the Windows key and press R, then type CMD (COMMAND for W98/WME) to open a command prompt:

Type the following commands:

PING 206.190.60.37

PING yahoo.com

NBTSTAT -n

IPCONFIG /ALL

Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter.
Paste the results in a message here.

If you are on a machine with no network connection, use a floppy, USB disk, or a CD-RW disk to transfer a text file with the information to allow pasting it here.

Hiya,

I have a computer that crashes when playing Battlefield 2, but it seems to only crash when playing online. Sometimes it will crash when loading the servers. And, not just the program, the whole computer reboots. =\

It has an nVidia card in it, running Windows XP Home. It has 768mb ram.

I've:
Updated DirectX
Tried different memory sticks
Reinstalled the game

Recently, the power supply went on the machine. BF2 crashed previously, but at a much lower frequency. Now, it's difficult to get more than 5 minutes of gameplay in before it crashes.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

The systems I have worked on that crash under gameplay have usually come down to heat, power supply transients and VCC sag, or driver issues. Interesting though that it seems to be limited to online gameplay.

I usually start by clamping an oscilloscope or VOM on the 5 volt rail and watching for instability. If that looks good I look at the 12 volt rail and the CPU VCC. I also remove the cpu heatsink/cooler and check to make sure it has not warped. If it looks flat, I reapply thermal paste and reassemble it. If the problem still shows up, you might try running with the case open, just to see if it is a residual heat problem in the case.

I would search around and see if anyone else is having issues with whatever version video drivers you have installed. Sometimes the latest are not the greatest...

Looks like you have already tried swapping out the memory. You might try under-clocking the board temporarily to see if that prompts a stable platform. That can indicate that something is deteriorating.

Good luck sorting it all out!

Well when I run an online game (Runescape) it runs quite good until it freezes for 1-2 seconds, then goes back to normal. It does this every 5-10 minutes and causes me alot of problems.

My laptop is fairly new and I have just re-installed Vista, but the specs are:

- Processer - (Intel Pentium Dual 1.73 GHz)
- RAM - (2G)

From looking at my processor and RAM it looks like the game should be running fine, and when I try and run the game in high detail it just lags completely, please help I've been looking everywhere for this solution!

A:My laptop lags when playing an online game!

Do you have antivirus software installed? Try disabling that during gameplay, or at the very least disable auto-updates as a test. Same goes for windows updates. Also, close any other windows and programs you aren't using before playing, it might make a difference.

Ok, let me tell you a funny story: I hadn't played Starcraft II in a while, and I got to playing again recently. I lost my first two games, then played a long game against a third opponent. At some point things looked like I was finally going to win, when Bam! I'm thrust out of the game into the "configuring updates" screen for windows. It rebooted my computer to configure updates, without asking my permission. I have never seen anything like this before, but it is very jarring, and annoying. Is there any way I can prevent this kind of behaviour?

How old is the laptop? Is it under warranty?

Test RAM.

Take memtest. Run for 8 passes and test each stick in a know good slot for an additional 6 passes.
RAM - Test with Memtest86+

Quote:
The goal is to test all the RAM sticks and all the motherboard slots.

Check your motherboard manual to ensure the RAM sticks are in the recommended motherboard slots. Some motherboards have very specific slots required for the number of RAM sticks installed.

If you get errors, stop the test and continue with the next step.

1. Remove all but one stick of RAM from your computer (this will be RAM stick #1), and run Memtest86 again, for 7 passes. *Be sure to note the RAM stick, use a piece of tape with a number, and note the motherboard slot.
If this stick passes the test then go to step #3.

2. If RAM stick #1 has errors, repeat the test with RAM stick #2 in the same motherboard slot. *If RAM stick #2 passes, this indicates that RAM stick #1 may be bad. If you want to be absolutely sure, re-test RAM stick #1 in another known good slot.
*If RAM stick #2 has errors, this indicates another possible bad RAM stick, a possible motherboard slot failure or inadequate settings.
3. Test the next stick of RAM (stick #2) in the next motherboard slot. *If this RAM stick has errors repeat step #2 using a known good stick if possible, or another stick.
*If this RAM stick has no errors and both sticks failed in slot#1, test RAM stick #1 in this slot.
4. If you find a stick that passes the test, test it in all the other motherboard slots.

If Part 2 testing shows errors, and all tests in Part 3 show errors, you will need to test the RAM sticks in another computer and/or test other RAM in your computer to identify the problem.

In this way, you can identify whether it is a bad stick of RAM, a bad motherboard, or incompatibility between the sticks.

Errors are sometimes found after 8 passes.
Do this test overnight, before going to bed.

I have similiar problem, that just started few days ago, when I installed norton 360 and logmein software.
After that day, I havent been able to play War of the Roses Beta game nor Age of Conan game, without internet stopping to work. League of Legends does not trigger this problem for some reason.

When problem occurs
I get no connection to internet, although network says it has internet connection.
I can connect to internet again after few minutes (5-15) and all is fine, until I play online games again.
My friend says he hears me a little while (through xfire) after I get disconnected from the game, I dont hear him though.

I was thinking of making new thread, but I feel the problem might be connected or something. Atleast the problem sounds much like mine.

Greetings Erndog and to BleepingComputer's Virus/Trojan/Spyware/Malware Removal forum. My name is Oh My! and I am here to help you! Now that we are "friends" please call me Gary.If you would allow me to call you by your first name I would prefer to do that.===================================================Ground Rules:First, I would like to inform you that most of us here at Bleeping Computer offer our expert assistance out of the goodness of our hearts. Please try to match our commitment to you with your patience toward us. If this was easy we would never have met. Please do not run any tools or take any steps other than those I will provide for you while we work on your computer together. I need to be certain about the state of your computer in order to provide appropriate and effective steps for you to take. Most often "well intentioned" (and usually panic driven!) independent efforts can make things much worse for both of us. If at any point you would prefer to take your own steps please let me know, I will not be offended. I would be happy to focus on the many others who are waiting in line for assistance. Please perform all steps in the order they are listed in each set of instructions. Some steps may be a bit complicated. If things are not clear, be sure to stop and let me know. We need to work on this together with confidence. Please copy and paste all logs into your post unless directed otherwise. Please do not re-run any programs I suggest. If you encounter problems simply stop and tell me.When you post your reply, use the button instead. In the upper right hand corner of the topic you will see the button. Click on this then choose Immediate E-Mail notification and then Proceed and you will be sent an email once I have posted a response. If you do not reply to your topic after 5 days we assume it has been abandoned and I will close it.When your computer is clean I will alert you of such. I will also provide for you detailed information about how you can combat future infections.I would like to remind you to make no further changes to your computer unless I direct you to do so.===================================================Now that I am assisting you, you can expect that I will be very responsive to your situation. If you are able, I would request you check this thread at least once per day so that we can try to resolve your issues effectively and efficiently. If you are going to be delayed please be considerate and post that information so that I know you are still with me. Unfortunately, there are many people waiting to be assisted and not enough of us at BleepingComputer to go around. I appreciate your understanding and diligence.Thank you for your patience thus far. Please do this.===================================================Farbar's Recovery Scan Tool--------------------For this step you will need a USB flash drive and start on a clean computer. From a working computer please download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it to a flash drive. You need to run the version compatible with your system. If you are not sure which version applies to your system download both of them and try to run them. Only one of them will run on your system, that will be the right version.Plug the flashdrive into the infected PC and follow the 2 step process below to enter the System Recovery Options using one of the three options listed, then running Farbar's Recover Scan Tool----------Entering into the System Recovery OptionsOption #1To enter System Recovery Options from the Advanced Boot Options:Restart the computer. As soon as the BIOS is loaded begin tapping the F8 key (possibly another key) until Advanced Boot Options appears.Use the arrow keys to select the Repair your computer menu item.Select English as the keyboard language settings, and then click Next.Select the operating system you want to repair, and then click Next.Select your user account and click Next.Option #2To enter System Recovery Options by using Windows ins... May I ask you some questions before we start?

Earlier you had a nvidia GPU? The crash dumps upto 01.04.2013 indicates to nvidia GPU (a very known issue it was).

Probably due to those crashes you changed the GPU? The crashes of 24.04.2013 onwards are indicating to ATI GPU. This is also a very known issue, but a worst one. Let us discuss.

Code:

It is a bugcheck inherent with the ATI drivers. Universal. We dont know why it happens (AMD keeps it private). But we may try to troubleshoot.

Have you updated the display driver in between? If so, roll back to the earlier driver that worked good there.
Device Manager - Roll Back Driver

If not, uninstall the ATI/AMD display driver in Control Panel > Programs and features. Then follow Drivers - Clean Left over Files after Uninstalling

When done, download an earlier version of display driver from AMD Graphics Drivers & Software . Dont install CCC.

Does it work? If not, better you RMA the ATI GPU, as it is a new one.

On a serious side note, using two real time protection programs are harmful.

Code:
Start Menu\Programs\avast! Free Antivirus
Start Menu\Programs\McAfee Family Protection
Uninstall Avast using Avast Uninstall Utility. Uninstall McAfee Using McAfee Removal Tool. Use Microsoft Security Essentials as your antivirus with windows inbuilt firewall, and free MBAM as the on demand scanner.
Download, install and update those, and then run full system scans with both of them, one by one.

Let us know the results.

A:FPS Sudden Drop while playing game BDO (Black Desert Online)

When an online game slows there can be two very different possibilities. One involves your internet connection and the other involves your computer and it is important to figure out which one it is.If your internet is cable which your neighbors share the cable companies line to your block/neighborhood and certain times of the day this can get a bit slower as more users log on. Try different times of the day, possibly when most people are at work and see if the same is true.As far as your computer and the numbers you supply, I do not see unusual activity or heat so it is less likely that you have malware or overheating but you might have Windows Update, Your antivirus program, Adobe, or other programs downloading updates which may be slowing your own internet down and using your bandwidth. Finally, you did not specify your power supply so we cannot be sure (unless you list the info) if the graphics card is always getting full amperage that it needs. You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.

Hello!

I have recently been trying to find out how to hide my IP while playing an online Java based game: Runescape.

So far I have tried using online website proxies (...that's their name isn't it?) but none have worked: I either have to pay for www.runescape.com or, while browsing from the proxy, wont load the game ( I think a code is downloaded from the net onto my computer during this "loading" and my computer reads that when playing)

Could someone help?

To clarify: I would like to be able to hide my IP (or give a false one) when playing 'Runescape' from www.runescape.com.

Cheers!

I get BSOD whenever I am on my computer for 6 hours or over, watching a video and playing a game, or while playing gmod in general. My comp specs are on my profile as best as I could get. My computer runs 68C 26% fanspeed when not playing any games and gets as hot as 86C when playing games.
and my graphics card is up to date.

some of the BSODs were like memory management or time management or something.

Here is my SCF/scannow

and my SF Diagnostic minidump
Attachment 263945

A:BSOD playing too long, watching a video and playing a game or gmod

Hello and welcome foodwrap Mate you mentioned memory management was brought up.

Now two things you can do here is
a) reseat the sticks

b) run a memtest if the reseating doesn't have any effect

You will need to make a bootable disk for the memtest and set the BIOS to boot from the optical drive then insert the memtest disk and Save and > Enter.

Memtest86+ - Advanced Memory Diagnostic Tool

The machine will boot into the memtest program - no OS is loaded and it will start "testing" the RAM
Now you need to let it run for at least 8 passes unless you start to get red errors straight away.
The test takes quite while and sometimes people run it overnight.

But do the reseat first and have a look to see if any crud is down in the slots. You can take this chance to have a quick once over of the machine for dust etc

See pics for what it will look like when you run the memtest if you have to.

It seems something is going wrong with my GPU or one of the when game. game, BSOD any No games. just playing specific drivers I feel like it's most likely hardware failure due to extreme treatment of my laptop What happens is the whole screen kind of just gets chopped up into squares sometimes the patterns vary Sometimes it's not even a ing pattern just a ed up BSOD when playing games. No specific game, just any game. screen with different colors It then crashes and attempts to restart but you can't even read the BSOD when playing games. No specific game, just any game. BSOD because the screen is so messed up Then it will reboot itself but the screen is screwed and if you attempt to run 'windows normally' it will crash and reboot in an endless cycle I have to start in safe mode in which there are a bunch of nasty lines that start from left to right on the screen I can still use the laptop but over time the screens disappear and the screen finally goes back to normal After this I can reboot into normal mode Help I can also send pics showing what happens I just have to play a game and have it crash for me again haha Thanks EDIT DM Log is up for viewing Somebody hellpppp I want to play Fallout T T

Hello. I have a problem with my Sony Vaio E-series laptop. It disconnects from my WiFi every time when I am in the middle of an online game. It does it sometimes while I am web browsing. I had Windows 7 at first when I had the problem. I tried to upgrade to Windows 10 to solve the problem, but the problem still comes along! I have the evaluation copy of Windows 10 and it runs pretty well. This problem has started in the beginning of the month of July 2015. Can anyone help me solve this? I tried reinstalling the drivers and disabling and re-enabling the adapter but nothing works. I also tried resetting the adapter by using the wireless toggle switch on the lip of the laptop and it turns back on. But I still need to know why it disconnects when I play games or searching the web. Thank you!

Greetings all,
I know that threat like this already exists but it is marked as solved. I really need help here. I have brand new Asus G751JT. I have put an SSD in and installed a Windows 8.1 x64 (genuine of course) on it. Everything is great except that every time I play a game Windows crashes and restarts. I tried CPU Stress test (2 hours), Memtest86 (8 passes), GPU stress test and everything is good. CPU doesn't go over 71 degree. I tried to reinstall Windows. Nothing.

P.S. I didn't OC nothing.

My specs are:
Asus G751JT-T7254D
I7 4720HQ
Samsung EVO 850 SSD - 256GB
HGST 1TB
nVidia gtx970M
Windows 8.1 x64

My DMP file is uploaded as attachment.

All help is really appreciated.

A:BSOD hal.dll and ntoskrnl.exe while in game

I didn't saw that I opened a thread in Windows 8.1 instead in BSOD, App Crashes And Hangs. Can anyone move this thread to correct place?

Tnx.

I keep getting BSODs when I play games for a short while At first I thought when BSOD says ntoskrnl.exe games. BSOD BlueScreenView caused playing it was a bad installation of Windows BSOD when playing games. BlueScreenView says ntoskrnl.exe caused BSOD so I did a clean format full of my SSD and a clean install of Windows Ultimate x Installation failed quite a few times before finally succeeding Tried another copy of Windows same install failures I finally finished reinstalling Windows on my PC I suspected the RAM to be at fault so I ran MemTest and found a ton of errors Upon closer inspection of the BIOS settings I found that my board was clocking my ram in Auto mode at mhz instead of the factory mhz Corsair Vengeance LP DDR CAS on Asus Sabertooth Z I updated my BIOS to the latest as of this posting and I still have to manually set the memory frequencies for it to run at mhz Everything seemed fine for a few hours running prime I supposed my PC was fine now after that clean install of Windows but a few minutes into playing Battlefield I BSOD I am no pro at reading dump files and I was hoping someone could help me isolate the sources of my BSODs I've attached the minidump files for each BSOD below Thanks

I used the recommended software from this forum to gather all of the logs and post it.

I have tried using Heaven DX11 to stress test the video card and ran it for..45minutes+ allowing the GPU to get to a heat of 80C and no BSOD.

It has BSODed when playing Dota 2, or Borderlands 2. (I don't play many games)

It BSODed once when I finished playing a game and chrome opened 32 tabs on accident, but this is a beast of a machine it should be able to handle it.

A:BSOD any game for a period of time (hal.dll & ntoskrnl.exe).

Hey guys I m here to explain you guys my problem BSOD (ntoskrnl.exe) when playing. particularly so about a year ago I bought a Radeon that worked fine at the beginning but then started failing until I had to replace it got another one same model computer didn t even boot when it was on its place Now I got a third one and at first it worked fine but I have some flickering squares on my screen which for some reason BSOD particularly when playing. (ntoskrnl.exe) disappear when I m in a full screen game but what is bothering BSOD particularly when playing. (ntoskrnl.exe) me the most is the constant BSOD particuarly when playing League Of Legends I know this has nothing to do with the game because it happens even when I m browsing the Internet but it happens more often while playing What I also find interesting is that flickering squares only happen some time after the computer has been on After checking out the crashes with BlueScreenViewer it seems that all of the dates the crashes occurred are wrong I have no idea why but I can see most are being caused by ntoskrnl exe and by Windows NT Hope you guys can help me out Gonna upload my minidump folder below Since the dates of the reports are wrong I have no idea of what I was doing at that moment but I guess most crashes must be because of a similar issue I m getting currently about crashes a day sometimes even more and since League Of Legends is a team based game if you leave you are punished and I have been banned twice now I am really desperate for your help thank you OS Version Microsoft Windows Home Premium Service Pack bit Processor Intel R Core TM i - CPU GHz Intel Family Model Stepping Processor Count RAM Mb Graphics Card AMD Radeon HD Series - Mb Hard Drives C Total - MB Free - MB Motherboard Dell Inc Y MRG Antivirus None What I find weird is how my GPU s memory always shows a negative number and only shows - instead of the it s supposed to have right And my RAM is supposed to be gb Windows says only GB are usable is that a weird number Thanks for your help guys P S If mods feel this isn t at the right place feel free to move it please it s my first post in the forums and I m not that much of a tech guy nbsp

Hello, Squirel and welcome to the forums. I will try to help you with this. First,I need you to do a couple of things.

Please fill out your System Specs

   Information
Your System Specs will help us to help you, and doing it in this manner will make them available to all helpers in every post and keep us from hunting for them. We ask that you fill them out in as much detail as possible including Desktop or Laptop, Model number if it is an OEM computer and all components with the Manufacturer and Model number if possible.

If you will go to your last post and click the 'System Specs' in the bottom left of the post, you will find a link to update your system specs. Please fill those out in as much detail as possible, making sure to click save at the bottom of the page. If you would like to know what we would like, you can click 'My System Specs' at the bottom left of this post to see mine. If you do not know what your components are, this will help you accomplish this task. System Info - See Your System Specs
You only had 2 dump files which is what we use to debug with. Both dump files had different error codes, but listed basically the same cause.

Code:
KERNEL_DATA_INPAGE_ERROR (7a)
The requested page of kernel data could not be read in. Typically caused by
a bad block in the paging file or disk controller error. Also see
KERNEL_STACK_INPAGE_ERROR.
If the error status is 0xC000000E, 0xC000009C, 0xC000009D or 0xC0000185,
it means the disk subsystem has experienced a failure.
If the error status is 0xC000009A, then it means the request failed because
a filesystem failed to make forward progress.
Arguments:
Arg1: fffff6fc50068280, lock type that was held (value 1,2,3, or PTE address)
Arg2: ffffffffc000000e, error status (normally i/o status code)
Arg3: 000000002c581880, current process (virtual address for lock type 3, or PTE)
Arg4: fffff8a00d050034, virtual address that could not be in-paged (or PTE contents if arg1 is a PTE address)

ERROR_CODE: (NTSTATUS) 0xc000000e - A device which does not exist was specified.
DISK_HARDWARE_ERROR: There was error with disk hardware

Code:
CRITICAL_OBJECT_TERMINATION (f4)
A process or thread crucial to system operation has unexpectedly exited or been
terminated.
Several processes and threads are necessary for the operation of the
system; when they are terminated (for any reason), the system can no
longer function.
Arguments:
Arg1: 0000000000000003, Process
Arg2: fffffa800e686670, Terminating object
Arg3: fffffa800e686950, Process image file name

An I/O error is typically a hard drive

Your hard drive is apparently showing errors or has failed/is failing.

I don't know what hard drive(s) you have, because of no system specs. But I would suggest you backup all personal data to an external source, first thing. I would then run Seatools for DOS on all Mechanical Hard drives, Internal and external (SeaTools for DOS and Windows - How to Use)

Please let me know the results of the test.

Test each RAM stick individually, if an error is found then move the same RAM stick into the next DIMM slot and test again, if errors are found for the same RAM stick in every available slot then you have a faulty RAM module. On the other hand, if no errors are found in the next slot or the other slots for the same RAM module, then you have a faulty DIMM slot.

Test each RAM stick and every motherboard DIMM slot available.

I play Battlefield 3 for anywhere from 5-25 minutes and get a BSOD

I attached the minidumps.

A:BSOD while playing Battlefield 3, ntoskrnl.exe

Please provide this info for a more complete analysis: http://www.sevenforums.com/crashes-d...tructions.html

Driver Verifier is turned on and it's purpose is to cause BSOD's. Please turn it off - the BSOD's will either stop or decrease in frequency.

To do this, launch Verifier.exe
Select "Delete existing settings" and click on Finish
Reboot to complete the operation.

You have both nVidia and ATI video drivers installed - why is this? Please uninstall the one that you're not using.

We have seen numerous problems with the USB XBox controller. Please uninstall it's software and remove the device from your system. Then test to see if it stops the BSOD's.

AMD OverDrive (AODDriver2.sys) is either a stand-alone application, or a component of the AMD VISION Engine Control Center. This driver is known to cause BSOD's on some Win7 systems. If you choose to uninstall the AMD/ATI video drivers this step may not be necessary.

Quote:
Please uninstall all AMD/ATI video stuff from Control Panel...Programs...Uninstall a program
Then, download and install a fresh copy of the ATI drivers from http://www.ati.com (in the upper right corner of the page)
- Select the "Custom" installation option and don't let it install AMD OverDrive or the VISION Engine Control Center (if present)
Then use the ATI uninstall manager to uninstall the Catalyst Control Center (CCC). This is a separate issue and isn't required for the AMD OverDrive removal.

If the device (AODDriver or AODDriver4.01) remains a problem, open Device Manager, select the "View" item.
Then select "Show hidden devices" and scroll down to the Non-Plug and Play Drivers section.
Locate the AODDriver entry, right click on it and select "Uninstall". Reboot for changes to take affect.

Sometimes the driver remains and continues to cause BSOD's. If this is the case for you, post back and we'll give further instructions for safely removing it.

If overclocking, please stop. Remove the overclock and return the system to stock/standard values while we're troubleshooting. Once the system is stable again, feel free to resume the overclocking.

Daemon Tools (and Alcohol % software) are known to cause BSOD's on some Win7 systems (mostly due to the sptd.sys driver, although I have seen dtsoftbus01.sys blamed on several occasions).
Please uninstall the program, then use the following free tool to ensure that the troublesome sptd.sys driver is removed from your system (pick the 32 or 64 bit system depending on your system's configuration): DuplexSecure - FAQ

Some free alternatives (I don't use them, so I can't comment on them)
KernSafe iSCSI initiator, Virtual CD/DVD-RW Emulator, Virtual Encryption Disk and Virtual CD/DVD-ROM Emulator All-in-One free software.
MagicISO - Convert BIN to ISO, Create, Edit, Burn, Extract ISO file, ISO/BIN converter/extractor/editor

The following info is just FYI, I've already addressed the issues that I saw in the above paragraphs

- Further info on BSOD error messages available at: http://www.carrona.org/bsodindx.html

Processor: Intel Quad core Q6600 2.4
Motherboard: ASUS P5e3 deluxe
Graphics: MSI Ti 560

Also Heroes 6;World of tanks works fine(can play all day no problem).

But Battlefield 3 crashes.

I have already read a lot of forums. I used bluescreenview but still dont know what to do.(flredy done memory test;chdsc).

And still nothing updated all drivers and it still crashes.

It is often ntoskrnl.exe.

As to be honest i don t know what to do with it.

I've been crashing for a couple of months now and it's usually been while playing Dota Around the time the crashes started I overclocked my cpu but once while DOTA BSOD playing ntoskrnl.exe 2, I realized it was unstable I lowered the clock and the voltages The problem doesn't seem to be heat as I completely cleaned out my case and parts just a few days ago with a can of compressed air What I'm going to do next is go back to default voltages for my CPU NB and see if that stops the crashing Uploaded are all of my logs System specs for convenience Computer type PC Desktop Computer Manufacturer Model Number Custom build OS Windows Home Premium x CPU amd phenom ii x Motherboard gigabyte ga- a-usb Memory Kingston HyperX GB single stick Graphics Card s Geforce Ti Sound Card N A Monitor s Displays N A Screen Resolution N A Hard Drives Seagate gb PSU watt Case N A Cooling N A Keyboard N A Mouse N A Internet Speed N A Antivirus NOD Browser Firefox Other Info N A

If stopping over clocking does not seem to help with the problem please do the following:

Update your Bios updates can be found on the motherboard manufacturers website.

Run memtest86+ for at least 8 passes: RAM - Test with Memtest86+

Run the following commands:

Quote:
SFC.EXE /SCANNOW
Go to Start and type in "cmd.exe" (without the quotes)
At the top of the search box, right click on the cmd.exe and select "Run as adminstrator"
In the black window that opens, type "SFC.EXE /SCANNOW" (without the quotes) and press Enter.
Let the program run and post back what it says when it's done.

then from the same command prompt issue the following to check for disk corruption:
Code:
chkdsk /r /f
and lastly please enable driver verifier and allow it ot crash your computer then post the new dump files her the way you did before:

Driver Verifier

If you can not boot normally after enabling verifier please boot into safe mode and disable verifier from safe mode.

I have already read online about how Norton has caused BSOD problems for many people when the 8.1 upgrade happened. Most solutions explain to replace Norton with Windows Defender. My question is that, is there any way of using Norton thus after then? I already spent the money have anti-virus software so it doesn't make sense for me to just uninstall it and never use Norton again. Or if not, are there any better (preferably free) anti-virus solutions? I'm tired of getting BSODs because of Norton but, being as laymen as I am with computers, I feel like if I don't have Norton on, my computer is at risk.

A:ntoskrnl.exe BSOD when playing games

Maybe you should ask Norton for a refund. If it makes you problems (and you applied all the updates) there is not much else you can do but uninstall it completely and take your losses. Does temporarily disabling Norton while playing help any ?
There are many nice and useful free AVs ot there. I am partial to Avast free but there are many more free ones too, Like AVG, Bitdefender etc. and most of them are arguably better than Windows Defender. As for free/payed AVs goes, it all depends on how much of and from what you need protection from. Check about them on their sites and compare the difference between them and free/ payed versions. For me, with pretty active internet use, Avast free, helped by Search&Destroy, does just fine job.

Are you overclocking?

HAL (hardware abstraction layer) may have caused it.

Hello all, I would be very grateful for any pointers on this problem.

I've had an increasing number of bluescreens over the last couple of weeks which led me to download BlueScreenView to see if it offered any insight. Things I have tried so far:

Initially thinking it was a graphics card driver problem, various clean installs of newer and older versions.
Windows disc check
Windows memory test
11 passes of memtest86
But really I'm just flailing about at this point and don't have a clear idea what to try next. I have attached the files collected with the SF diagnostic tool.

Many thanks in advance.

A:BSOD NTOSKRNL.EXE while playing games etc

These crashes were caused by memory corruption/exception (Cx05) probably a driver.
Please run these two tests to verify your memory and find which driver is causing the problem.

* If you are overclocking anything reset to default before running these tests.
In other words STOP!!!

* If you have a Raid update its Driver.

Memtest.

Quote:
*Download a copy of Memtest86 and burn the ISO to a CD using Iso Recorder or another ISO burning program. Memtest86+ - Advanced Memory Diagnostic Tool

*Boot from the CD, and leave it running for at least 5-7 passes.

Just remember, any time Memtest reports errors, it can be either bad RAM or a bad motherboard slot.

Test the sticks individually, and if you find a good one, test it in all slots.

Any errors are indicative of a memory problem.

If a known good stick fails in a motherboard slot it is probably the slot.

RAM - Test with Memtest86+

Driver Verifier

Quote:
Using Driver Verifier is an iffy proposition.
Most times it'll crash and it'll tell you what the driver is.
But sometimes it'll crash and won't tell you the driver.
Other times it'll crash before you can log in to Windows.
If you can't get to Safe Mode, then you'll have to resort to offline editing of the registry to disable Driver Verifier.

I'd suggest that you first backup your stuff and then make sure you've got access to another computer so you can contact us if problems arise.

- Select everything EXCEPT FOR "Low Resource Simulation"IRP Logging and Force Pending I/O Requests. and click "Next"
NOTE: You can use Low Resource Simulation if you'd like.
From my limited experimentation it makes the BSOD's come faster.
- Select "Select driver names from a list" and click "Next"
Then select all drivers NOT provided by Microsoft and click "Next"
- Select "Finish" on the next page.

If you are using win 8 add these
- Concurrency Stress Test
- DDI compliance checking

Reboot the system and wait for it to crash to the Blue Screen.
Continue to use your system normally, and if you know what causes the crash, do that repeatedly.
The objective here is to get the system to crash because Driver Verifier is stressing the drivers out.
If it doesn't crash for you, then let it run for at least 36 hours of continuous operation.
Reboot into Windows (after the crash) and turn off Driver Verifier by going back in and selecting "Delete existing settings" on the first page, then locate and zip up the memory dump file and upload it with your next post.
If you can't get into Windows because it crashes too soon, try it in Safe Mode.
If you can't get into Safe Mode, try using System Restore from your installation DVD to set the system back to the previous restore point that you created.

Thanks to JCGriff2 & Usasma.

Hello all,

Relative computer noob that somehow built his own computer a few years ago lol. Recently I have been getting the dreaded BSOD almost everytime I play BF3, and I am finally deciding to try to get some help on the matter. The causes seem to vary however I've noticed that ntoskrnl.exe seems to be the culprit more often than not. Again, I'm somewhat of a computer noob so I'm not too sure what to really make of all the dmp files, to say I'm confused would be a huge understatement. I've uploaded my dmp file with this post, and if anyone could chime in on what I should do I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks!

Hi deltax,

Majority of the crashes seem to be caused by the 'ntkrnlmp.exe' driver.
Driver Description: NT Kernel & System - Different versions/date stamps according to OS and system specifications
The driver installs with 'Windows updates'.

This is a very common bugcheck. Usually the exception address pinpoints
the driver/function that caused the problem. Always note this address
as well as the link date of the driver/image that contains this address.
Some common problems are exception code 0x80000003. This means a hard

Hi,
I'm posting on behalf of a friend, who is not very good at english.
Anyway, his problem seems to appear only while playing Bf3. He formatted and reinstalled windows, checked the RAM with memtest86, and the hard drive with seatools. No errors were reported.
I have no idea what else to try. Hopefully you will be able to shed some light on the issue

Hello, I've been having some problems today while playing a game called APB Reloaded.
I can play any other game on max graphics such as Battlefield 3, FIFA 12 etc. No problems, but when I play ABP Reloaded I get Bluescreen of Death (BSOD) with the error as 'ntoskrnl.exe'.

I have two bug check strings (using Bluescreen View) called: KMODE_EXCEPTIONS_NOT_HANDLES & IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

I've added the dumps.

Would be appreciated if someone can help!

Thanks,
Kyle

We do need the DMP file as it contains the only record of the sequence of events leading up to the crash, what drivers were loaded, and what was responsible.

You may be able to get the DMP files without crashing by booting into safe mode (F8) with networking.

The procedure:

* Copy the contents of \Windows\Minidump to another (temporary) location somewhere on your machine.
* Zip up the copy.
* Attach the ZIP archive to your post using the "paperclip" (file attachments) button.
To ensure minidumps are enabled:

*Go to Start, in the Search Box type: sysdm.cpl Press Enter.
*Under the Advanced tab, click on the Startup and Recovery - Settings... button.
*Ensure that Automatically restart is unchecked.
*Under the Write Debugging Information header select Small memory dump (256 kb) in the drop down box (the 256kb varies).
*Ensure that the Small Dump Directory is listed as %systemroot%\Minidump.
*OK.
Reboot if changes have been made.

Your crash dumps are not showing any finite probable cause. In such a situation, it is better to enable Driver Verifier to monitor the drivers.

Run Driver Verifier for 24 hours or the occurrence of the next crash, whichever is earlier.

It puts a stress on the drivers, ans so it makes the unstable drivers crash. Hopefully the driver that crashes is recorded in the memory dump.

How Can we know that DV is enabled:
It will make the system bit of slow, laggy.

   Warning
Before enabling DV, make it sure that you have earlier System restore points made in your computer. You can check it easily by using CCleaner looking at Tools > System Restore.

If there is no points, make a System Restore Point manually before enabling DV.

   Tip

If you fail to get on the Desktop because of DV, Boot into Advanced Boot Options > Safe mode. Disable DV there. Now boot normally again, and try following the instruction of enabling DV again.
If you cannot boot in Safe mode too, do a System Restore to a point you made earlier.

Let us know the results, with the subsequent crash dumps, if any.

Also upload your MSINFO32.nfo file.
Click on the start button
Type "msinfo32" (without quotes) in the search bar of the start menu, click the resulting link. It will open the System Information window.
File>Save. In the "File Name" filed, put "MSINFO32" (without Quote), give the save location to desktop, and click the "save" button.
Give the time for processing, it will save a .nfo file on your desktop.
Zip it, and upload it following the instruction.

Hi, I've been getting this BSOD every so often, usually when playing DOTA 2 or Just Cause 2.

It doesn't happen immediately, I notice the game's framerate dip, and then the BSOD occurs.

I am running a laptop with Windows 8.1. (x64)
It has a nvidia 745M with optimus, and an i7-4500u.
Model is a Clevo W840SN

I have ran memtest with no errors appearing.

Thankyou.

Hi,

The latest attached DMP file is of the DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE (9f) bug check.

This bug check indicates that the driver is in an inconsistent or invalid power state.

If we run an !irp on the 4th parameter of the bug check (blocked IRP address), we get the following:

[ 16, 2] 0 e1 ffffe0000147d040 00000000 fffff802561a2d80-ffffe000038e46f0 Success Error Cancel pending

^^ nVidia video driver.

Ensure you have the latest video card drivers. If you are already on the latest video card drivers, uninstall and install a version or a few versions behind the latest to ensure it's not a latest driver only issue. If you have already experimented with the latest video card driver and many previous versions, please give the beta driver for your card a try.

Regards,

Patrick

The first thing to do is to update Windows 7 fully - many BSOD's are avoided by ensuring the operating system is using the very latest system files.

Hi! I've been having numerous crashes of Overwatch and Google Chrome for the past several weeks. I've been trying to troubleshoot the crashes but haven't been successful so far. I've attached the minidump files to this thread. If anyone can point me to what the problem is I'd be incredibly happy.

Thank you!

EDIT: I forgot to add that the BSOD's have started happening since I've installed a new graphics card, PSU, and RAM.

A:multiple BSOD's playing Overwatch, ntoskrnl.exe

Your motherboard says .....

Whereas your RAM runs at ....

Code:
Speed 1867MHz
Manufacturer Kingston
Serial Number
Asset Tag Number

Overclocking, with a very little mismatch speed. And, Overclocking may cause all the BSODs.

Please set the RAM speed to 1333 MHz and see how it goes.
Further troubleshooting may be needed depending on the result.

Hello,

I recently got a new graphics card, as well as upgrading my OS to windows ten.

However before and after these actions I receive various BSODs but only while playing Overwatch.

Looking into it they seem to be related to the ntoskrnl.exe process, but I may be wrong.

Here is the information requested:
