New build error 0x0000007e possibly caused by downloading large files

Q: New build error 0x0000007e possibly caused by downloading large files

I put together a mostly new machine on Saturday Everything is new but power supply case and graphics card Within an hour of getting windows installed I got my first BSOD while downloading some games The error code appears to be pretty generic so after looking on google for a few minutes I decided it may have been an issue by error large 0x0000007e files New possibly downloading caused build caused by not installing windows updates so I initialized them and started browsing the web There were quite a few updates including SP but before they could finish downloading I got another BSOD which caused the updates to fail After trying a handful of times New build error 0x0000007e possibly caused by downloading large files I was able to get most of the updates to install there are still that fail every time not sure if it's related or not but I'm still experiencing the BSOD I left my computer on to download a game through Origin and when I came back a little over an hour later it had reset after crashing I got the notification after signing in I started the download again went to bed and when I woke up the computer had restarted again after a crash I've used WhoCrashed to analyze the crashes and it's calling out both the graphics driver and the ethernet driver as possible culprits I have the latest driver available from the manufacturer's website for both

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Lately we have notices a good lot of BSOD issues with 14.12 omega driver installed.

Uninstall your installed latest version of the display driver.

Then clean up any possible leftover.

Then install version 14.9 WHQL only.

Late us know the result. Additional steps may be required depending on the situation.

EDIT: Free up the startup. Windows does not need any other program to auto start with it, but the auto start programs often conflicts and causes various problems including BSODs.
Click on the Start button
Type “msconfig (without quotes), click the resulting link. It will open the System Configuration window.
Select the “Startup” tab.
Deselect all items other than the antivirus.
Apply > OK
Accept then restart.
At least, remove the "Killer Network Manager" from startup.

SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED_M (1000007e)
This is a very common bugcheck. Usually the exception address pinpoints
the driver/function that caused the problem. Always note this address
as well as the link date of the driver/image that contains this address.
Some common problems are exception code 0x80000003. This means a hard
coded breakpoint or assertion was hit, but this system was booted
/NODEBUG. This is not supposed to happen as developers should never have
hardcoded breakpoints in retail code, but ...
If this happens, make sure a debugger gets connected, and the
system is booted /DEBUG. This will let us see why this breakpoint is
happening.

Dear all,

The application I'm working on uses the Microsoft Internet Transfer Control 6.0 (Inet) with the GetChunk method in VB6 to download updated components from our server. This has worked fine on hundreds of installs with XP and more recently on Vista.

However, on one user's Windows Vista system, the application returns a runtime error 7 "Out of memory" when downloading files larger than, say, 6 MB.

Installing Vista hotfixes has had no effects; disabling installed antivirus software (Norton) had no effect.

Does this problem sound familiar to anyone? Your thoughts on this subject are greatly appreciated.

Kind regards,

Elvenstone.

Hi guys,

I've been getting a BSOD sometimes on start up or shortly after. I've used the debugger to check the dump file and the driver that would appear to be faulty is dtsoftbus01 which from what I read is daemon tools. I had daemon tools on this computer at one point in time but I've since reformatted my hard drive so daemon tools shouldn't still be installed right? I'll also include the section of the dump that I think points to daemon tools.

Hi fellow techspotters,

odd thing has happened to my friend, whos pc I have handbuilt. Every time he starts downloading lets say 1gb or bigger file his RAM starts to fill up. No processes are visible to be the cause. Cpu usage stays on normal level, but the ram just keeps on filling. Until it is throttled by capping on 8gb and he is forced to pause the download and reboot the machine, and the RAM is cleaned.

I posted this under networking, because I doubt that it is a hardware related problem.
The numbers go some like this. 8gb of RAM = 20gb of download -> cap -> restart -> ram clear -> restore download. And the RAM gets used oddly like its ment to behave like this. Does it store something on the way?

It isnt actually a problem, my friend can cope with it. But I as a builder of the PC would really like to solve this. I have never encountered such memory behavior with downloads before.

Screencaps of the situation available when I get home from work.

cheers
m

A:RAM capping while downloading large files

Does the machine have an anti-virus installed? And if so, does memory usage have the same effect with or without active scanning?

When monitoring Task Manager, which process is using the memory allotment that appears to be accumulating? Killing the process should clear memory usage by that process.

Forgive me as I beat around the bush, not really knowing what to say.

A:Slow Downloading Of Large Files

Well if your dial-up is 56k, then your average transfer rate should be at around 4-6 Kbps on average. There arent really any ways to optimise your internet speed though, you probably will have to get better internet when it is availible otherwise there isnt much that you can do. Also, dont download any programs that say they optimise internet speed, because, they are Spyware and do either nothing or slow down your internet even more. Also, I would say that downlaoding that much with dial-up could take a couple of days. Hope you get broadband in your area soon!

Yo,

Right now I'm trying to download a service pack for someone but its not working! It gets up to a certain amount and then kind of freezes, the transfer rate is still there, everything looks ok but theres no activity.
I have an adsl connection with bulldog and im just trying to download the default xp way(no getright or download managers). when the download freezes I can still get web pages to work and, checking in the router, the connection hasn't been dropped.

Anyone help?

A:Probs downloading large files...

Try using one of those download managers. They will enable you to resume the download to finish it. They also allow for multiple threads to a server to get the max connection speed out of your connection.

If you get no help from that try enabling Driver Verifier,

   Information
Run Driver Verifier for 24 hours or the occurrence of the next crash, whichever is earlier.
Driver Verifier - Enable and Disable

Driver Verifier will cause your computer to run very sluggishly - this is normal. What it is trying to do is force your system to BSOD and isolate the offending driver/s. When it does, reboot, disable driver verifier, reboot as normal and upload the new dmp file/s here.

I recommend creating a system restore point before turning on driver verifier:
System Restore Point - Create

If your system fails to boot to desktop once driver verifier is enabled, turn it off by booting into Safe Mode:

I ve recently switched from Verizon Mbps to Time Warner Mbps both were wireless and installed a new router that I bought off the tech guy while he was there After setting up the router with Warner and hooking it up I noticed a strange problem with this new internet connection Whenever I d download a large file say larger than a few MB my internet would lock up and crash - forcing me to disconnect from and then reconnect to the wireless signal to resolve the problem This happens either during large file downloads or heavy traffic moments such as loading multiple webpages at once So whenever my internet connection dies on me a quick windows diagnostic says that the DNS cannot be contacted because there is no ethernet connection What s more though is that large cuts whenever Internet downloading files out this apparently only happens with my wireless connection because the downstairs computer which is hooked up to the router with an ethernet cable never experiences this problem This has me genuinely confused here Is my computer simply forgetting for a split second that it uses wireless and just defaults to looking for a LAN connection Or is this a problem with the router or Internet cuts out whenever downloading large files the service provider itself - Time Warner - since I never had this problem with Verizon nbsp

A:Internet cuts out whenever downloading large files

from Verizon 2 Mbps to Time Warner 15 Mbps (both were wireless)Click to expand...

Please educate me on this. Verizon has both DSL and mobile wireless, and 2 Mbps sounds reasonable for either. But I thought that Time Warner was only (coax) cable? And 15 Mbps download sounds to me like a cable service, not mobile wireless and not fixed wireless.

What networking equipment (brand and model) do you have? You mentioned a "modem" and a "router." Anything else?

Hi, all. Wondering if anyone can help with this. When downloading large files, either via uTorrent, Steam, or other services, at random times my computer will freeze, requiring a hard restart. No BSOD or anything, just a freeze. It doesn't happen every single time I download large files, but it does happen often enough. I suspect that it may be a problem with the wireless network card, but I'm not exactly sure, and wanted to get some insight before I replaced anything. It's been happening since I built the machine, but I narrowed it down to downloading large files just recently. I ran the diagnostic tool, and I am attaching the zip, though there is no minidump, of course. Thank you in advance.

You have few drivers that need updating. Update these older drivers that were loaded at the time of the crash. Don't use Windows Update or the Update drivers function of Device Manager.

Quote:
- search Google for the name of the driver
- compare the Google results with what's installed on your system to figure out which device/program it belongs to
- visit the web site of the manufacturer of the hardware/program to get the latest drivers (DON'T use Windows Update or the Update driver function of Device Manager).

Hello,
For a while now, I've been having a recurring BSOD giving the message "DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL". I believe it may be related to something to do with my network settings/drivers, as more recently, I noticed that it occured when I attempted to download game updates that were around 1.5GB in size. I have tried reinstalling networks drivers, but it does not appear to have worked. Any help would be appreciated
Thank you.

A:BSOD during downloading of large files, DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

You are right, it is some network issue. But apparently no reason behind such a network crash is not visible in any dumps, which is a sound ground.

If you have any network bandwith monitoring/controlling program, uninstall it as a test. Uninstall peerblock too. Letus see if it causes any difference.

A:Trouble downloading large files with Windows XP PRO SP3

Easiest solution is to download the file on to a computer off site using a different service provider. Put the file on a USB stick and take it to the client.

I think the client needs to contact Charter about the difficulty downloading items from the internet.
1. Does Charter still support XP? That might be part of the problem.
2. Is there a limit on data downloaded? Comcast has caps in some areas. I'm not sure what happens when you approach or go over the limit because I am no where near any data allowance cap.

Did a clean install of Win 8.1 Pro x64 on a desktop i7-2660K machine a week ago. Since then, there's been a problem that didn't exist before the clean install, namely web page loading is very slow while downloading large files, a few hundred mb to a few gb. Pause the downloads and pages load normally. Before the install, the page file was set to system managed size. System drive is fast Plextor SSD and RAM is 16gb. I've now tried 32gb max and still slowness. Not sure where to turn on this. This is a relatively fast cable system (Charter), with line to the computer through an Linksys E1200 router (for wireless laptop). Any ideas? One thing I hadn't done yet is reinstall the router on the desktop, but I just did that and it makes no difference. Is that necessary? Thanks,

A:Slow web when downloading large files after clean install

I'm interested in any responses to this as well, because in my opinion Microsoft screwed it up.

I'm not sure when they changed it, but I noticed they changed this quite a while back. The change they made seems to give full bandwidth to the first thing you start downloading, but as you've discovered it's a nightmare like this because it means you can't do anything internet related until the download has finished. In the case of a large download, that's frustratingly limiting.

How it was before, Windows seemed to balance the load so you could have something downloading in the background, but still carry on with other things on the internet. How it is now, the second thing you try to access on the internet will usually result in a timed out error and if doesn't it's so incredibly slow that it's unusable.

It's not just with file downloads either, if you've got a heavy loading webpage, you can't just leave it loading that page and go view another webpage, because the first webpage sucks all the bandwidth to itself . Also, if you click a link on a heavy loading webpage, it won't do anything due to the webpage sucking all the bandwidth. So you either have to wait for the whole page to load first, or you have to open the link in a new tab, then close the heavy loading webpage tab.

I don't know what they were thinking to be honest because it's pretty bad as it is now. Maybe on a super-fast Microsoft LAN they don't notice how bad it is, but in the real world the changes they made are terrible.

Hi I recently had to upgrade my harddrives crashes downloading semi-large Internet files while when I kept getting a quot No load past start screen quot error I pinpointed the area Internet crashes while downloading semi-large files to one of the harddrives and replaced it accordingly After doing Internet crashes while downloading semi-large files a fresh install of the OS and everything I noticed my computer was a little sluggish and the internet was slow Having being a little idiotic about reprogramming computers I asked a friend who works on computers to fix it He did the same thing that I did Internet crashes while downloading semi-large files but reinstalled the drivers differently and the internet worked perfectly after that After getting the computer back I started installing my games and noticed the internet kept disconnecting on my laptop alone While the rest of the house has internet and that it would usually spike at a certain point then drop to a kbs download and the internet icon would show the quot Internet has disconnected quot icon Thinking it was just a minor setback I didn't think anything of it well its been a month now and it is still disconnecting I have tried updating the drivers but to no avail as they're all up to date Or so it seems and ran virus scans reg cleaners If anyone has any tips please help Also interesting things to note Windows Alienware MX gb memory Atheros Gigabit ethernet controllerr Killer wireless N adapter Nvidia geforce m graphics And intel R HD graphics

Hi Hammyobob.

The internet discunnection at random may be caused by a lot of factors. Some (hardware and software related) of them are within your control and some are from the part of your ISP.

Can you let us see some info?

upload your MSINFO32.nfo file.
Click on the start button
Type "msinfo32" (without quotes) in the search bar of the start menu, click the resulting link. It will open the System Information window.
File>Save. In the "File Name" filed, put "MSINFO32" (without Quote), give the save location to desktop, and click the "save" button.
Give the time for processing, it will save a .nfo file on your desktop.
Zip it, and upload it following the instruction.
Upload the list of all the third party drivers Using NirSoft DriverView :
Download and execute Driverview
View > Hide Microsoft Drivers
Edit > Select all
File > Save Selected Items
In the Save dialog, Set the path to desktop, Put "Driverview" in the name field, and save.
Zip the .txt file and upload it.
These two files will help us to have a closer look at the things that is within your control.

Hello, My computer started freezing while downloading large files in uTorrent, About 10 minutes after starting uTorrent the PC starts to be really really slow and 1 minute after it freezes, only restarted/shutdown solve the problem, I've been using uTorrent for years and never had this problem, I mean it happens when I download a 15GB movie, but two months ago I downloaded a 170GB TV series and no problems were with that.

So I thought maybe its a problem in the HDD (not in the space, I have aprox. 150GB free in C and 220GB in D), I don't really know what to do, hope that you will help me

Thank you.

A:Computer freezes when downloading large files in uTorrent

What happens when you attempt a large direct download from a non-uTorrent site? Try one of these 3GB+ ISOs for a test:

Official Windows 7 SP1 ISO from Digital River ? My Digital Life

If any of the above work OK, then it is clearly a uTorrent issue.

Hello everyone,

I have a problem with my windows vista (ultimate x64).
It crashes in BSoD every time I try to download one or more large files at once (>=100Mb), or when I surf on many internet pages at once (e.g. when I start Opera and it opens 10 tabs simultaneously).

Anyone has the same problem/a solution please? That would be so great.

I hope it's not due to my hardware, since it's a new computer, but I had another o/s before (XP) on the same computer, and it didn't crash.

I hope you guys can save me =)

Greetz,
itlar

This happens to me on celan RC version and even on clean RTM version.
I have quite a fast conenction 50/50 Mbps so the RAM runs out quite fast (in 15 minutes i have no free ram).
This happens only in Win7 (in Vista, XP it downloads without any memory leak using the same download managers)

Does anyone have the same problem or know how to solve it?

Well lets start with is ot 32bit? when this happens what does the process tab in task manager say is using the memory? to open task mgr rightclick taskbar.

My bet goes to router

Is your modem and router separate devices? Would your connection work if you plug the modem to computer directly?

I guess some routers have a passthrough configuration, if above is not feasible.

If all above fail try factory reset on the router. Make sure you have all the configuration details noted down, you will need them after the reset.

It could depend on where you're saving them to. If you have a Partition, setup your download directory in there, well away from the system files.

I have Vista Internet Security 2010 in my computer. I tried to get rid of it but not being computer savy I don't think I accomplished much! So I saved what I could and attempted to reformat. Only I keep getting an error that says,"This PC is not supported by the System Recovery Discs." However, I have reformatted 4 or 5 times previously using theses discs so that's not true. Could the virus be causing this error to come up?

I'd really appreciate any advice at all.

Thank you.

Hello,
I have recently bought a used PC and changed the case for a new one, so I rewired the entire system. Since then, the PC keeps crashing when I download large games off steam and sometimes it crashes while I'm watching videos on youtube. Two errors show at different times when it crashes and the main error is: driver_irql_not_less_or_equal (wdf01000.sys) and the other one is: driver_irql_not_less_or_equal (usbxhci.sys).

Here is the dump file.

DESKTOP-E7VPUUU-Sat_27_08_2016__80359_84.zip

Your help is much appreciated. =)

A:BSOD while downloading large games from steam, error wdf01000.sys

What USB devices are plugged in? Please disconnect everything and let me know if the issue still occurs. Try running sfc /scannow from cmd as admin.

I just rebooted and at first all seemed good but then after about 60 seconds once it had completed "The Software Protection service" stuff it starts up again. Every few seconds an error message the same.

So I go to the folder: C:\Program Files\WindowsApps (need to "take ownership" to be allowed in) then delete the three folders:

And immediately the error reports stop (as you'd expect), just one single new error now in event viewer "Activation of app Microsoft.Messaging_8wekyb3d8bbwe!ppleae38af2e007f4358a809ac99a64a67c1 failed with error: The system cannot find the file specified. See the Microsoft-Windows-TWinUI/Operational log for additional information."

So I'll reboot and see what happens!

I'm also getting a message saying my display adaptor has stopped working but has recovered which may point to the graphics card as the culprit.

I've tried memtest on the RAM and also sfc /scannow but neither have returned any errors. I've also updated my Bios and downloaded the latest graphics drivers from the NVidia website.

I have attached the .dmp file from the latest crash in case this helps track down the issue. I'm not sure of how to analyse it myself.

Can anyone suggest a possible solution to this? This has happened a few times today alone and is the source of much frustration!

Reilly hard to diagnose from one DMP but I do notice that Your Avast service was the active thread at the time of the crash. I would remove and replace it with Microsoft Security Essentials to test if nothing else

I will shortly need to move a large number (20,000) very large (20-30Mb) image files and associated tiny xmp sidecar files from one hard drive to another.

MS file explorer will make a meal of this so any suggestions for alternatives please? I have several folders each containing many thousands of files as above so moving a folder en-bloc is an option rather than file by file?

A:moving large number of large files to new drive

Simply drag and drop the folder(s).

Might want to do a copy first, verify that everything did indeed get copied, and then delete the originals.

First of all, i don't know if my problem was caused by a virus but i think so..

Yesterday,i tried opening an image file that didn't open with windows photo viewer. However once,i chose another program,ALL exe files were somehow set to open with this program!!after searching at google,i applied a couple of registry fixes i found at windows7 forum in a topic with exactly the same problem.this only turned all the exe files to .lnk .i tried using other fixes but nothing worked.
I run a full scan with malware antimalware and found nothing and then another full scan with super antispyware which found 300 adware cookies and a trojan dropper/cvshost-fake.the programm removed all of the infections and another scan showed nothing, but the problem persists and now i can't even access control panel or any other programm...

I'm using windows 7 ultimate.
Any help is greatly appreciated!!

Let me begin with a little background I am pretty well-versed in Malware Spyware Virus removal having solved BSOD By Caused Possibly - MyWebSearch countless computer problems involving these topics Last week I managed to come across one that I can absolutely NOT figure out The specific action that causes this problem is opening an AutoCAD drawing file from a network location but ONLY while an Anti-Virus program is running If I turn off Anti-Virus protection I've tried Avast Avira and AVG the computer runs perfectly fine relatively speaking If Anti-Virus is up and running and I try to open an AutoCAD drawing BSOD every time Below is a list of SOME of the software that I have at my disposal as I'm sure that someone will ask for my BSOD - Possibly Caused By MyWebSearch logs I have most other common Anti-Spyware Malware utilities as well Memtest ATF-Cleaner Avast Avira AVG ComboFix HJT Kaspersky Mbam RootkitBuster RSIT RunScanner SDFix SIW Spyware Blaster Spyware Guard Super Anti Spyware WnDbg I'm pretty sure that this problem was caused by Avast trying to remove the MyWebSearch spyware program Every time I get a BSOD it lists BSOD - Possibly Caused By MyWebSearch the probable cause as the Anti-Virus BSOD - Possibly Caused By MyWebSearch program itself Let me know what information you'd like and I'll post it right away THANKS in advance Ryan

Hi,

My Windows 2008 Ent SP2 Server crashed this weekend, and when I analyzed the Memory Dump file, it gave me the following:

Probably caused by : ntkrpamp.exe ( nt!IoCreateFileSpecifyDeviceObjectHint+1265 )

I googled it and seems like ntkrpamp is the same as ntoskrnl.exe.

Any idea what could have caused this crash?

Thanks!

A:BSOD possibly caused by malware. Help Please!

Please run the following

Refer to the ComboFix User's Guide
Download ComboFix from the following location:

Link

* IMPORTANT !!! Place ComboFix.exe on your Desktop
Disable your AntiVirus and AntiSpyware applications, usually via a right click on the System Tray icon. They may otherwise interfere with ComboFix.
You can get help on disabling your protection programs here
Double click on ComboFix.exe & follow the prompts.
Your desktop may go blank. This is normal. It will return when ComboFix is done. ComboFix may reboot your machine. This is normal.
When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Post that log in your next reply

Note:
Do not mouseclick combofix's window whilst it's running. That may cause it to stall.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ensure your AntiVirus and AntiSpyware applications are re-enabled.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

NOTE: If you encounter a message "illegal operation attempted on registry key that has been marked for deletion" and no programs will run - please just reboot and that will resolve that error.

So I purchased new RAM with the exact same specs (DDR3 1600Mhz 9-9-9-24 1.5v) all 4 GB sticks. The ram I had in slots A1 and A2 worked fine and I had no issues. With the new ram in slots B1 and B2 the computer blue screens every couple of hours. I ran memtest86+ for 10 passes and there were no errors. I had another thread posted but I just did not want it to get buried because I forgot to attach my zip file. Hopefully you guys can help me diagnose what exactly is going on with my machine.

A:BSOD possibly caused by adding RAM

Avast is causing issues there.

Code:
fffff880`0ca0d0c8 fffff880`01ca676fUnable to load image aswSnx.SYS, Win32 error 0n2
*** WARNING: Unable to verify timestamp for aswSnx.SYS

Description here: Driver Reference Table - aswSnx.SYS

Uninstall Avast using Avast Uninstall Utility. Use Microsoft Security Essentials as your antivirus with windows inbuilt firewall, and free MBAM as the on demand scanner.
Download, install and update those, and then run full system scans with both of them, one by one.

The display driver is failing, too.

Code:
fffff880`0ca0c518 fffff880`05c79f08Unable to load image nvlddmkm.sys, Win32 error 0n2

And the latest version causes issues sometimes. Install the 314.22 WHQL only.
Uninstall All nvidia items in Control Panel > Programs and features3D Vision Control Driver
3D Vision Driver
Graphics Driver
HD Audio Driver
PhysX
nvidia Update
(Are you using nvidia chipset drivers? If so, dont uninstall anything other than those are listed).
Now follow Drivers - Clean Left over Files after Uninstalling
Boot normally now. Go to Drivers - Download NVIDIA Drivers, Download 314.22 WHQL. While installing, Select Custom (Advanced) install. In the next page, follow this settings:
During uninstall and reinstall, accept all the suggested Restarts.

Let us know the results.

BTW, make it sure that the new RAM are of the same specification of the old ones. Otherwise memtest may not catch errors, but issues will be there.

Hello I have a Dell Inspiron with Windows the Installation bar language problems caused by possibly XP Media Center I Installation problems possibly caused by the language bar have installed Service Packs and The problem I have has to do with installation I have tried on numerous occasions to install IE but I have never been able to do so I have even tried to install it manually but without success No error messages appeared There was only an icon on the desktop when I clicked on that it took me to a web page with a list of common problems encountered when installing Installation problems possibly caused by the language bar IE I believe that the problem is connected to the language bar In the past I ve had some problems with previous installations when I ve had Polish enabled in the language bar either the installation does not complete itself or the program is installed with menu bars etc in Polish So now whenever I want to download and install or install something from a CD I Installation problems possibly caused by the language bar go to quot Control Panel quot and quot Date Time Language and Regional Options quot disable remove Polish reboot the computer reboot again and then download install the program I do all that because even though English is always the first language listed when I have Polish enabled the installation wizards always appear in Polish I live and work in Poland However I bought the computer July in the US Because of these installation problems I removed Polish from the language bar several months ago When I first downloaded IE about halfway through the installation I noticed that I still had Polish enabled under the language bar So I stopped the installation somewhere in the middle Then I went through the process of removing Polish from the language bar That s when the problem started Now when I try to install IE even though I do NOT have Polish enabled in the language bar during the installation of IE the symbol for the language bar appears However the symbol is quot incomplete quot By that I mean the set of two vertical lines with dots appears to the left of where the letters EN would be but no language choices appear This problem even extends to my printer software I tried to install printer software for my HP Deskjet printer The software of course is on a CD When I tried to install it the installation wizard software appeared in Polish even though I did not request the wizard to be in Polish or Polish is not selected in my language bar in fact as I mentioned I removed Polish from the language bar a few months ago and I rebooted the laptop many times since then Also when I receive automatic updates from some sites in particular Apple the instructions are in Polish I suspect that the reason for this is that I m using a Polish internet provider and Norton System Doctor automatically gives the date in Polish and I never changed that option I have had other problems with the language bar In the past when I booted up the computer and switched to Polish in the language bar I had no immediate problem I would make this shift - times Often the switch was made automatically For example I would switch to Polish when I would be in Word Perfect When I would close Word Perfect and go to IE the language would automatically switch to English Let s say that I had both Word Perfect and IE open at the same moment and Polish was enabled in Word Perfect but not in IE In that case then the language bar would switch between English and Polish as I switch between programs However after making the shift several times the ability to do so disappears I go to the language bar click on Polish but English remains as the language I either have to go to the control panel remove Polish in the language options then add it again or reboot the computer Please note that I have not had Polish enabled in the language options for approximately months Also please remember that previously when I tried to install IE both manually and not manu... Ok so after looking around the internet and looking at various sites I decided to try listing my own problem and hoping for help I was on my something else TDSS BSOD caused by or rootkit possibly desktop a few days ago and I accidently clicked a link I shouldn t have My computer proceeded to shut itself off and after I hit the button again it turned on and got BSOD caused by TDSS rootkit or possibly something else to the blank screen with the blinking cursor in the upper left corner I restarted and tried to get into safe mode only after hitting F and getting the menu for selecting to boot from HDD or disc and chosing HDD it went right back to the blank screen with the BSOD caused by TDSS rootkit or possibly something else cursor After that I put my bootable xp disc in and tried starting it up that way It loaded to the screen were you can reinstall xp if you want I didn t and I couldn t get into recovery console from there so I exited the disc and restarted This time I left my computer load normally and after a few extra minutes it loaded to my desktop After maybe seconds I got a BSOD with the following error codes x E x xBA B xBA DbbF xBA DB F On the second line it listed prosync sys and that was it After I restarted from the BSOD it went to the blank screen again subsequent restarts lead to the blank screen and none to the desktop then BSOD After this I made a kaspersky rescue disk using all the lastest definitions and boots from it scanning times and found among various other viruses a TDSS rootkit virus In both scans it found it but never did anything about it and didn t seem to let me do anything about it either When both scans were done I restarted and got back to the desktop only to get the BSOD and same error codes This time I restarted with a recovery console disk and proceded to run checkdesk replace the MBR and boot sectors and disabled bootcfg A side note All literature tells me that you can t remove a rootkit unless in normal or safe mode After running all those recovery console programs I again restarted And guess what same desktop BSOD error codes And in case your wondering it isn t anything hardware related My question is this besides the obivous one of how do I fix all this Is this just the rootkit Or is it the rootkit and something else going wrong at the same time I can t access safe mode or even system restore as much as I d love to Computer specifications I can t remember them at the moment but feel free to ask

Hi first post here After playing with Driver Verifier I seem to BSOD, caused drivers by multiple possibly have more than one driver causing BSOD mostly IRQL NOT LESS OR BSOD, possibly caused by multiple drivers EQUAL - Bug Check xA IRQL NOT LESS OR EQUAL I'm starting to think I have multiple drivers to blame When I run the verifier on different non-microsoft drivers I almost always get a BSOD Anyways sick of the random BSOD You guys might be able to put your finger on the source of the problems OS - Windows x OEM could be reinstalled with DVD original install on HHD imaged to a new SSD The hardware has - months tops all of it except a year BSOD, possibly caused by multiple drivers secondary storage HHD OS installed - months ago I think on the HDD thank copied to the new setup on a SSD AMD Phenom II X BE ghz SLI GTX MSI A-G ATX AMD Motherboard PSU COMPUCASE XP W RT Custom built PC newegg Since the move from HDD to SSD might be to blame I figured I could save all my stuff and do a fresh reinstall after full format However apart from the BSOD my setup is great a fast as hell so I really don't feel like reinstalling everything again starting to get tired of always reinstalling everything manually rather than get to use backups Worst I might have to reinstall everything and STILL encounter the problems Let me know if there's a way to identify the source of the problem and a fix for it Thanks in advance Oli

NOTE: I have severe eye problems. If I do not respond to your postings, please PM another staff member for assistance.

We see a lot of issues with SSD's, can you disconnect the SSD and reconnect the old HDD to see if that stops the BSOD's?.

Here's the info that I've gathered on SSD's so far...

Quote:

There's not a whole bunch available to test SSD's. The "easiest" test is to remove the SSD, install a platter-based hard drive, install Windows and test for stability that way.

Here's some suggestions:
- Update the SSD's firmware to the latest available version
- Slow the memory (RAM) down to the next slower speed (I've only seen one person who claimed that this worked for them).
- Use any manufacturer's utilities that you may have. If you don't have any, then try this free one (I haven't used it myself): Crystal Dew World
- Update chipset and storage controller drivers to the latest available from the manufacturer of the device (not the manufacturer of the motherboard)
....NOTE: Recently (Nov 2011) we had BSOD issues with the Marvell 91xx controller and an SSD. You may have to swtich controllers also.-
Replace the SSD with a platter based hard drive and see if that stops the BSOD's. If it does, then it's likely that there's a problem with the SSD OR an incompatibility with your system.
It's my opinion that SSD's aren't reliable enough (with current hardware) to be used on a system that needs to work reliably. Until I see reliability I will not recommend, nor will I use, SSD's for critical applications.
06 Dec 2011 - This post tends to confirm issues with certain SSD chipsets and certain controllers - http://www.techsupportforum.com/foru...ml#post3537179

Please describe how you are running Driver Verifier. Use a typical 3rd party driver and describe each step (and let us see the memory dump that results).

systeminfo.txt doesn't show SP1 installed, please do the following:

Quote:

Installing Windows 7 Service Pack 1
1. Visit the PC manufacturer's website and update ALL drivers. DO NOT use Windows Update or the "Update drivers" function of Device Manager.
2. Check Device Manager for any unknown/disabled devices - if there are unknown/disabled devices, fix them with the latest drivers from the device manufacturer's website (not the PC Manufacturer)
3. Visit Windows Update and get all updates
4. Visit Windows Update and get Service Pack 1 (usually under Important Updates). Read these notes for installing SP1: Steps to follow before you install Windows 7 Service Pack 1 from the Microsoft Download Center
5. Visit Windows Update and get any other available updates

systeminfo.txt shows this wireless adapter:

Quote:

D-Link DWA-130 Wireless N USB Adapter

Here's my rant about them:

Quote:

I do not recommend using wireless USB devices.
These wireless USB devices have many issues with Win7 - and using Vista drivers with them is almost sure to cause a BSOD.
An installable wireless PCI/PCIe card that's plugged into your motherboard is much more robust, reliable, and powerful.

Make sure that you have WIN7 drivers. If not, then don't use the device.

A:BSOD possibly caused by new NVIDIA driver. Not sure what to do.

Try this first:
Go to the nVidia website and download the most recent WQHL driver for your video card.
Run the program. (I'm writing this from memory - so things may be slightly different)
After it extracts the files you will be given the option to do a 'Custom Install'. Do that.
Leave all the component boxes checked, but down near the bottom there will be a box that says "Perform a Clean Installation". Check that box.
Also check the box if it asks if you want to delete all your old settings. That is the part you really want to get done here.
Then run the installer. See if that fixes it.

Hello fiellixiang

Is rundll32.exe actually missing from C\Windows\system32?
If it is, look if you have a copy of it in C\Windows\system32\dllcache
Copy it over to C\Windows\system32

Hi there,

My PC, which has been fine for about 1yr, has crashed 3 times in the last 24hrs. The last time I managed to read the BSOD message which seemed to indicate that at1kmdsg.sys may be responsible.

This has not caused other users problems for nearly a year as far as I can see from your forum, but following instructions on another post I generated a log which I upload.

Please can you help me with this problem.

A:Random BSOD possibly caused by at1kmdsg.sys

It is a display failure, and the display driver that is installed there is a good stable one. Still, update the display drive to 14.12 CCC, as some R7 and R9 cards run better with that driver.

When done, stress test the Graphics Card using Furmark. Video Card - Stress Test with Furmark
Take a screenshot of the furmark window before closing it. Upload the screenshot for us. Also let us know if you have experienced any crash/BSOD and/or artifacts during the test.

We will decide the next course of action after seeing this result.

This will let us see why this breakpoint is
happening.

Hello,

About a few months ago, I built myself my own computer, specifically for gaming. Ever since then, my computer always has errors going on. One of my main concerns that I get is when I am gaming and the BSOD appears. It always has something to do with Atikmap.sys for some reason. I have tried uninstalling amd drivers and reinstalling them. I have even tried newer versions of the drivers. Just recently I wiped my computer clean to try to see if I could fix it, but it didn't work. I have attached a dm log collector above, so you can see whats possibly causing my issues.
(P.S., I'm not sure if this has anything to do with this, but abotu once every five minutes, my screen freezes and I get a message saying, "display driver stopped responding, and has recovered." )

Thank you for all your help!,

A:BSOD When Gaming, possibly caused by atikmpag.sys

Not that it matters but what game are you playing when it bsods? So you kinda figured it out. You have tried all possible drivers and you have tried a clean windows install. Has to be the video card is malfunctioning. That is without looking at the log or anything.
Reseating it might be worth a try. Otherwise, i would start the exchange/rma process.

I have asus asn-sli motherboard, with amd athlon 64 x 2 dual core processor, 2 gb of ram, 2 sata hd, 1 cd/dvd drive and 1 external h/d (but problems started before adding this drive). Running win xp sp3.

PC boots and bios does not detect any drives and message tells disk boot failure and to in insert system disk. Sometimes it will start ok and run for days/weeks, other times will start and then re-boot after a while with same message on start up. It has not detected the cd drive for ages although it still opens, even windows doesn't detect the drive. Have changed batttery on m/b.

I have cleaned inside and all fans are working and one side panel is always off, so plenty of air flow. Have to turn off at mains, wait for hours, then re-start, sometimes successful, sometimes not.

Could it be m/b, bios or even power supply?
Thanks
Peter

I built my PC about months ago hardware... Possibly caused Power Issue? by and have had zero problems with it up until the other day I was playing xbox on the same tv that the computer is hooked up to when I noticed that the tower had shut down this is strange because with my power configuration there is no sleep mode or auto shut down I turned on the tower and it started up just fine made it s way to windows and then almost immedietely the tower turned off again no warning no blue screen no black boot screen and no reports at all from the system when I try to reboot it again I first thought it might be a bad PSU so I went a bought a new one replaced it and had the exact same issue Very frustrating So needless to say I Power Issue? Possibly caused by hardware... am kind of stuck trying to figure out what this could potentially be I have checked all connectors and even took out my video card Power Issue? Possibly caused by hardware... in order to go directly from the MOBO with no success After asking some people I know about this issue and chatting with the store where I buy most of my parts I began to find that this was really stumping people So I took the whole thing back to Micro Center here in Kansas and they ran diagnostics and hooked it up to their power supply the tech working on it had the same issue and after days of them toying with it I had a computer back with the same issue and they told me I should try reformatting my hard drive and restarting since some of my windows updates were failing I wiped the drive and reinstalled windows through the Power Issue? Possibly caused by hardware... entire installation process of windows and most of the initial software installs and updates there were no shut down issues not sure if this can be chalked up to luck or if there is something else at play involving the software which I thought to be unlikely I made it through every driver download and installed almost evertything I previously had on the computer Windows was at the point where it was finding no new updates for me to install so I figured I was golden I shut down the tower and went to bed didn t get back to it till the next evening Sat there watching a movie off of an external hard drive and sure enough it shut right off on me just like it did before This is what I have noticed when this problem starts After a day or so of sitting I can come back to the PC and turn it on and almost guaranteed it will turn on with no issue and make it s way to windows with no issue at this point it s really just a matter of time until the thing randomly shuts off could be hours or so could be minutes Once again there is absolutely no consitency in the timing and no obvious programs running or things occuring on the software side that would trigger a shut down of this abruptness Once the computer has intitiated its first shut down of the day I normally try booting it back up almost immedietely the timing can be anywhere from a second after I hit the power switch all the way to when windows is popping up but regardless the computer will inevitebly shut down again It seems to become increasingly frequent and quicker in its shut down time after that first initial boot up No smells form inside the computer all fans appear to be spinning correctly and mind you it s not just me that checked this thing out I had the techs from Micro Center tell me that everything is set up correctly and all the parts are running exactly how they are suppose to no heat issues observable by software Please if anyone has any ideas I would greatly appreciate it and thank you in advance -Blake Kansas City MO Specs Tower - Corsair Spec- MOBO - ASRock Z Pro CPU - Intel I - k PSU - EVGA Supernova G Memory - Gb Ballistix DDR Hard Drive - WD Black Tb GPU - MSI GTX Gb Windows I mainly use an HDMI cord from my card to my flat screen I also use google fiber internet and it s a wired connection nbsp

Hello all. I recently decided to fork over the money and put myself together a nice gaming computer. The problem is I'm being constantly plagued by BSOD even as I currently type this out.

I've never been very computer savvy so I had to have my tech friend walk me through getting all the right stuff purchased and put together.

I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate x64
2 2GB of RAM
ASUS HD7750 graphcis card
ASUS M5A78L-M LX Motherboard
AMD Athlon II X3 450 Rana 3.2GHz Processor
500GB SATA Hard drive

My friend downloaded some debug software that loaded the minidumps and showed that most of the BSODs were caused by ntoskrnl.exe

Also, I'm not sure, but I think I keep hearing a soft squeaking noise coming from the computer.

A:Constant BSOD caused possibly by ntoskrnl.exe

What you need to do is put in your installation disk and go into to the recovery console once in your recovery console type in chkdsk /r and hit enter that should fix it if not let me know

Oh, and I forgot to include,
I had the BSOD problem before with iTunes, but after uninstalling and reinstalling, the problem stopped.
I already tried uninstalling and reinstalling the program for Zune, but it didn't seem to make a difference.
Also, the BSOD's randomly occur, but it's frequent enough to cause concern for me.

Any suggestions?

A:BSoD Stop Error when downloading files

I have built a custom computer with an nForce 590 SLI motherboard as well and it sounds like I have the same problem.

My computer specs are:

CPU: AMD Athlon 64 X2 5000+ AM2
Video Cards: (2) EVGA GeForce 7950GT KO in SLI
Motherboard: EVGA nForce 590 SLI
Memory: OCZ Platinum DDR2 800MHz
OS: Windows XP Home Edition
Hard Drive: 250GB Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 RPM SATA II
Sound: Integrated Realtec AC97

I do not have an internet connection on the computer described above, but I do have 1Gb ethernet between several of my computers.

I only have a problem when transferring files between my nForce 590 computer and my other computers. When I am sitting at my nForce 590 computer and I try to copy a large file or several small files to it, it will display the BSoD and crash.

I have found that using the other network card on the motherboard will avoid the problem, but I would like to fix the problem.

I have tried using three different nForce 590 motherboards but they all had the same problem.

Any help would be appreciated.

I recently purchased Visual Studio 6.0 and want to download a 132MB file with samples of the several venues comprising the Studio. Yesterday, I spent 15 hours at my machine trying to download this large file (56k Modem) and at 131+MB, my connection to my ISP broke and I lost it! I have tried several times before and after this crushing loss and have had similar problems.

Is there any software or other means to "restart" when a downloading process has been broken off and continue the download? That seems possible, say, when downloading Microsoft service packs and upgrades . . . but can I do it too?

Thank you!

There are numerous download managers that will resume a broken downloads

Zdnet.com and download.com are probably your best sites.

Do you know someone with a Broadband connection who could download the file for you. Or use an Internet Cafe

In both cases burn the files to CDR

A:BSoD While Scanning PS With Avast, Possibly Caused by Atikmdag.sys

The dump clearly pointed to your ATI drivers as the cause; since you updated them, though, try to forget about it, unless it happens again.

It's fully possible the problem has nothing to do with those drivers, that's just where the system was when it crashed. Perhaps it was a coincidence that Avast was scanning at the time, or perhaps Avast changed something that caused the system to crash once.

Let's just wait to see what happens in the future. If you get any more BSODs, please upload a full jcgriff2 report for us, according to these directions: http://www.sevenforums.com/crashes-d...tructions.html

My PC keeps blue screening with seemingly no cause, every time it's a different reason as to why it crashed, so I'm thinking it's hardware, my PC is fully up to date and nothing, as far as I can think, has changed lately to cause it to happen.

I hope someone can help me out, it appears so random as to when it wants to crash, sometimes it will be fine for days and I can do whatever I want, others it crashes every 5-10 minutes. It does seem to happen when I'm browsing the internet, but I'm pretty much always doing that so it could just be coincidental!

Thanks for any helpful advice and responses in advance.

Daemon Tools, Alcohol 120% and Power Archiver Pro uses SCSI Pass Through Direct (SPTD), which is a well known BSOD causer. Uninstall Daemon Tools at first. Then download SPTD standalone installer from Disk-Tools.com, and execute the downloaded file as guided below :
Double click to open it.
Click this button only:

If it is grayed out, as in the picture, there is no more SPTD in your system, and you just close the window.
Free up the startup. Windows does not need any other program to auto start with it, but the auto start programs often conflicts and causes various problems including BSODs.
Click on the Start button
Type ?msconfig (without quotes), click the resulting link. It will open the System Configuration window.
Select the ?Startup? tab.
Deselect all items other than the antivirus. You may keep Rainmeter there at most.
Apply > OK
Accept then restart.
Test your RAM modules for possible errors. How to Test and Diagnose RAM Issues with Memtest86+
Run memtest86+ for at least 8 consecutive passes.

If it start showing errors/red lines, stop testing. A single error is enough to determine that something is going bad there.

So let me start with an introduction how it happened I've been using my computer the same way I do every day Browsing internet as my friend called me on skype I tried to accept however I wasn't able to Even if I clicked the accept button nothing would happen Thinking it's just some regular error I force shut-down process of skype and tried to reopen it Here I received a strange looking error Do not remember it exactly Went something like - quot exception EoLeSysError in module errors, a caused Windows Multiple possibly 7 by virus. Skype exe quot Also Multiple Windows 7 errors, possibly caused by a virus. I should mention I have a mouse with editable buttons so for this I use X Oscar Editor It was working fine however when I tried to start it up that day Windows Installer popped up and would try to quot reinstall quot it I'm not actually sure what was that about What I know for sure is that that was the first unusual thing that happened Not concerning myself with this I restarted my PC getting met with an error regarding X Oscar Editor quot Unregistered class quot After that I tried to start up Skype This time no error message popped up It seemed to start up alright but it wouldn't respond if I tried to call chat basically anything If I should guess I'd say that nothing that was running during the time I decided to restart the PC wouldn't work properly Tried to start League of Legends since I remembered I had that running and was met with a quot Not responding quot message Trying to run an in-built launcher repair wouldn't work At this point the first thing that came to my mind was to run some sort of registry cleaner So I did so CCleaner did the job for me I run a clean-up Didn't do anything for me except only bring more corrupted files and problems At this point I'd try to look through the control panel but yet again I was met with an unexpected occasion In the control panel I couldn't click the blue link like quot Uninstall program quot and so on However I could still click every other link and somehow get where I wanted to be I tried to uninstall Skype Avast and X Oscar Editor along with some other stuff that wasn't working I thought could possibly be causing the problem Wasn't able to though Different kind of messages popped up This could be related to a corrupted Windows Installer not sure confirmation I tried to run Windows in safe mode with networking to see if I'd figure something out When I switched back to normal boot my theme would change to a default one so I went to change it however another error message quot Explorer exe Server execution failed quot Also Windows doesn't recognize Avast even though it's still installed and working properly Not being sure about it working properly I figured I might as well try it out and see if there are any viruses on my PC Did a complete system test and found a handful amount of viruses I was sure weren't there a week ago The one that caught my attention the most was quot Dropper GEN Trojan quot Even after getting rid of this nothing changed So now I'm here as the last resort before I just try to reinstall my windows completely Btw I didn't make any system recovery points which was pretty dumb of me since I thought they wouldn't be necessary Silly me

Hi,

I have noticed that my computer is connecting to websites out of my control whenever I run Firefox (7). I see this both when I run netstat and when I do a network capture using Microsoft Network Monitor. In the Network Monitor, there is an entry labeled <Unknown> that shows lots of DNS queries, to some IP-address, for lots of sites I haven't visited. I have run Spybot - Search & Destroy and Ad-Aware. Spybot found and removed a file that contained a trojan - Win32Agent.sc. The McAfee Antivirus scan didn't find anything.

I have run HiJackThis, but I couldn't myself see anything that immediately stood out as suspicious. But I don't know much about those sorts of things...

If anything has any suggestions for me about how to proceed tracking down the problem, I would be very grateful!

I am running Windows XP SP3.

Hello all. My computer with Windows 7 Home Edition x64 has been getting frequent BSOD as well as being super slow and unresponsive. I have attached a copy of the recent dump files hoping to find anything out as to why this is happening. I am appreciative for any input I receive.

A:Frequent BSOD with massive slowdown, possibly caused by ntoskrnl.exe

Hello, welcome to SevenForums!

Dumps are blaming pool corruption and storport.sys, storport.sys is highly unlikely as something is causing THAT itself to crash. Few things, you have SPTD.sys, which is a driver that is part of Daemon Tools. Please uninstall Daemon Tools if you haven't already, restart, and then run DuplexSecure's SPTD Uninstaller / Remover, and then restart once again.

Another thing in one of the dump files, I have to ask if this means that this is the process fault in a thread, but regardless....

I would recommend uninstalling Avast temporarily and install Microsoft Security Essentials just for testing, it is also known to sometimes cause issues with Windows 7 and cause BSODs.

My homebuilt machine has been working great for about two months now. In the past week I've noticed that after a certain amount of HD thrashing the system will suddenly restart without warning.

I've found that I can reliably force it to do this by starting a backup using Windows Backup and Restore. Beyond that I have no idea what is happening. Here's what I've done:

1) WhoCrashedMe notes (correctly) that the system is configured to write small dump files. However, these files are not being created.
2) Memtest86 finds nothing of concern.
3) sfc from the command prompt also finds nothing of concern.

I've attached the Seven Forums zip file. Please help, I'm quite clueless at this point.

A BSOD happened around a week ago while re-enabling my ethernet adapter on my laptop. This is the first and only time my computer has blue screened as of now.

A previous disk check(yesterday) found bad sectors within my hard drive(might be a sign of a bad hard disk?). Could that have been the cause of the BSOD?

A:BSOD while Reenabling Ethernet/possibly caused by failing hard disk?

Xohn now how did you run that chkdsk if you ant to run it thoroughly then follow this
Disk Check and use the switches /f and /r in Option 2

If you feel the drive is faling then it may be making some odd and loud noises so to check the drive itself try these

A:Possible virus downloading large amounts of data in background

Well eventually after looking at the IPs that it was connecting to using Wireshark. One of the IPs was 31.128.104.126. Searching that resulted in a page suggesting it was associated with the TR/Gamarue.A.99 virus. Searching that indicated that Avira actually would have some success finding and removing it.

Despite the fact that no other antivirus scans found any of these things avira found the following.

TR/Gamarue.A.99
e2h[1].htm - html/iframe.arx2
cpc[1].htm - js/iframe.el.2
vsvusgvu.exe - tr/kuluoz.a.87
costcoform_overland_park.exe - tr/kuluoz.a.87 trojan

As well as a bootrecord virus boo/cidox.b.
Avira was able to remove all the other viruses and I was able to find instructions on this site to use Kaspersky's TDSSKiller to remove the boot record virus and was successful there. After that everthing was mostly better except IE was having problems loading some pages. A quick restore/repair of IE's default settings seems to have fixed that. I'll be keeping my eye on the computer for a while to make sure there's no weird memory or GPU utilization, and I'll never know what sort of stuff that virus was up to in the background using up to 4gb of RAM with explorer.exe but at least it seems to be gone.

PROBLEMS CAUSED BY DOWNLOADING SATELLITE T.V. TO COMPUTER:

I purchased and Downloaded Satellite Direct T.V. to my computer - 64 bit-Windows 7 few nights ago. The next day, I could not open FOLDERS on my Desktop.

There are supposedly 3500 channels . However, I have not OPENED anything in Satellite. All I did was purchase and download the program. I was concerned that this would damage my computer.

1. Any experience with using Satellite T.V. to computers? How solved? Is it a BAD idea or a GOOD idea? Etc. Should I throw it out?

2. How can I correct the problem with opening my FOLDERS on my desktop?

3. I have 3.5 GB in a folder which I have named Documents folder on my desktop. I cannot even access the folders in my documents forder which is on my desktop. (I do not use the Library thing and documents there. Do not like it) Should I start throwing them out?

A:Problems caused by downloading satellite t.v. To computer

What happens when you try to open a folder on the Desktop?
Can you right click a folder and then click Open?
Can you open folders that are not on the Desktop?
Click Start | Computer, then navigate to C:\Users\<Username>\Desktop\Documents and see if you can access those files.

You can try uninstalling the program, or do a System Restore to a date before you installed it.
Click Start, type System Restore, press Enter.

I've been having this problem for around a month now It started with getting a virus It didn't seem like a big thing - it just redirected links to ads I searched online about it and it seemed to be recent They recommended using a Karpaskey sp rootkit killer and Malware Bytes I already had Spybot on my computer but I did so anyway It worked and everything was clear for a couple days Then the blue screens started There were three different ones - IRQL not less or equal is the most common I think one was something to do with the word sector and I can't remember the other I also WinXP is Constant possibly caused random to whatever date up virus BSoDs, running - got two blue screens that listed tcpip sys and ntfs sys as problems I apologize that I can't remember Constant random BSoDs, possibly virus caused - running whatever up to date WinXP is so well there were so many and I just got overwhelmed Usually it will crash soon after logging on although it has froze during the process One time it was good for a couple hours in which I saved stuff opened stuff watched stuff on the internet etc until it just up and crashed but usually I have very little time I don't think my actions affect how long it takes Right now I'm using the computer with a Ubuntu live disk I am able to force mount my hard drive and view modify and save files I'm really clueless at this point I've never asked a forum for help before and this is a last ditch attempt before I reformat and start over which I really don't wanna do I've already deleted all of the antivirus on my computer albiet through Ubuntu live disk so it was just deleted and not uninstalled Like I said I really have no idea what I'm doing right now I don't really understand Linux btw so I'm lost on several fronts I figure either it's the virus or more likely something I did to get rid of the virus I don't have any system restore points - I can't remember why but I had a problem a couple years ago and looking at others problems online turning it off seemed to be the solution I've done chkdsk a couple times it looked like it was changing stuff but didn't help any The Windows recovery console I have yet to be able to use I run into a problem when it asks for my administrators password One account on the computer - I put in my password and it's wrong I leave it blank and it just gives me the C Windows command line

A:Constant random BSoDs, possibly virus caused - running whatever up to date WinXP is

Just restarted my computer in a unsuccessful attempt at getting recovery console to work. Restarted after that and got a blue screen soon after logging on. It was IRQL_not_less_or_equal 0x0A and in parenthesis it was 0x00, 0x00, 0x02, 0x80500d23. On the off chance that someone reads this I hope it will help.

Also, I'm pretty sure the program I used for the virus was TDSSKiller. I'd edit my previous post, but I don't seem to have an option.

Receiving consistent BSODs.

The pattern:
BSOD (seems to happen while Steam is downloading, though I can't confirm)
Turn PC Off (hold power button)
Turn PC back on
Monitor doesn't appear to receive anything from PC (ie nothing comes up on screen)
Turn PC back off (hold power button)
Turn PC back on (Still nothing)

BUT - if I flip the power switch on the power supply, disconnect and reconnect the power cord, the PC will boot back up ok. (At least it has so far - twice).

Many thanks to all the good folks who provide these services!

Take care,
J

Welcome aboard.
I guess it is an old system? Is it branded or a custom build? Most probably you have installed windows during April 2011 for the last time? Let us see in depth.

► Two instances of antivirus programs running:
Ad-Aware Antivirus
Microsoft Security Essentials.
Uninstall Ad-Aware. Keep MSE only. Two Antivirus programs always conflict, and cause stability issues.

► Sunbelt Firewall Software
It has ended it's life. Free Firewall Software
Most of the problems are caused by this single thing. Uninstall it at once. Use Windows Firewall, that is inbuilt.

Hi all,

First time poster, so sorry if i've done anything wrong please advise me and i'll make any required edits.

I've gotten a couple of BSOD's today, just when downloading a particularly big steam game. I've been skyping, online gaming fine etc. but it's happened twice now just downloading this game (Witcher 2, if you're interested!)

I've followed the instructions to attach the BSOD log files. I'd really appreciate any advice you could give.

Thanks

Unfortunately, error code 0x124 usually means there's faulty hardware, and the error message supports that:

Code:
WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR (124)
I'll do some more research, but for now that's my best guess.

Best of luck,

A:Trojan / Malware Problem (possibly Duped Into Downloading A Codec)

Hi and Welcome to the forums.Duped Into Downloading A Codec huh...I like that. You should make a copy of your Hosts file, its looks to be customized.Download ComboFix from Here or Here to your Desktop.Double click combofix.exe and follow the prompts. When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Post that log and a HiJackthis log in your next replyNote: Do not mouseclick combofix's window while its running. That may cause it to stallComboFix will usually replace the Hosts file in cases as such,I cant atest that it does it every single time but it would be in your best interst to check it after each usage of ComboFix.After ComboFix has finished and you have posted that log, follow the instructions below to download, install and run SDFix in Safe Mode.http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/131299/how-to-use-sdfix/Post that log when completed, please.
