Preferred Solution: Blue screen Drive power state failure.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I know this has been a much discussed topic evident by the many results I have found. My Gateway computer is also having this problem. It seemed to be getting more frequent so I took some of the advice here and updated my graphics driver (ATI Radeon HD 4850 series). This computer is only a few months old. Here is the most recent minidump file. Thanks in advance for any help decoding this error. Todd

A:Power State Drive Failure and Blue Screen

Hello Hot Rod Todd,
This was caused by "sbp2port.sys", do you have any firewire bits on your PC, an ipod, or camera ?.
This sbp2port.sys works with the 1394 storage support, so if you have any devices connected to your PC, disconnect them and try it, if all goes well, you will need to update your drivers.

Just recently I began getting a blue screen with the words Power State Failure, mainly while browsing the internet, sometimes with other programs open, sometimes not. I wish I had more information than that but it restarts the computer so quickly I barely have time to read the rest of the information, though when it happens again I'll update this. I was hoping you guys may know more about it and possibly have a fix.

I'm running Windows 7 64 bit--if you need more info, let me know. Thanks!

Hello!

I just bought a new Toshiba laptop on Saturday and I'm already having a bit of a problem. I've searched this out on Google already and it seems most people have this occur in a different situation than I do.

Twice now, I've gotten this blue screen that says "Power Driver State Failure."

It's happened while I was online or today just while I was writing an essay for my college class.

I've made sure everything is updated but I'm pretty sure I shouldn't be having problems so soon.

Can anyone help me out?

Any suggestions would be really really appreciated.

A:Blue Screen with DRIVER POWER STATE FAILURE

Hi Safyz and welcome to TSF.

Could you give us your full system specs so we can see what we are working with. If you are unsure what your specs are, download and run Speccy, then when it's generated the information (about 10 seconds) go File>Save Snapshot, and attach that .speccy file as well. (You will need to zip it to attach it here: Right click on it and select 'Send To'>'Compressed (zipped) Folder'.

Could you also tell us what PSU (Powers Supply Unit) you have and what wattage it is. To find this out, turn off the computer and open it up and look for a label on it. It should tell you the make and wattage there.

Also, next time you boot the machine can you:

Window Key+R and type msconfig and hit OK.
Under 'Services tab', tick 'Hide all Microsoft Services' and then uncheck the remaining programs and 'Apply'
Then under 'Startup tab' - Uncheck anything not Microsoft related then 'Apply' and OK

Could you also let me know if you have recently installed any new programs or hardware. What anti-virus are you running?

Your storage controller (iastor) is causing memory corruption.

You should update its driver and download and run memtestx86, run it for 5 passes to test your memory

Let us know if you need help

A:Driver power state failure - Blue Screen

Hi jlampila,

We can try few troubleshooting steps to isolate the issue between hardware/software:

To check if it is related to hardware, run the built-in diagnostics provided by the manufacturer on the computer to check if the hardware is working fine.

If diagnostics passes then it could be related to a driver problem.

You can configure the windows to ensure that minidump files are created, please follow the steps mentioned in the link: Dump Files - Configure Windows to Create on BSOD - Windows 7 Forums

With this information we can help: Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) Posting Instructions

Please post the results.

A:Blue Screen DRIVER POWER STATE FAILURE

Hi darnapkin,

You should have a look at the BSOD posting instructions, and run the applications listed there and get back to us with all that information.

Meanwhile I've looked through this specific one, error code is:

Code:
BugCheck 9F, {3, fffffa8009657060, fffff800044423d8, fffffa800a36ec60}

PROCESS_NAME: System
The driver you're using:

Code:
asmtxhci.sys Wed Dec 08 10:14:06 2010 (4CFF5A6E)
Driver belongs to an USB hub, please update the drivers for this one at the manufactures website here.

Also please update this driver:

Code:
lirsgt.sys Sat Mar 06 19:53:01 2004 (404A2C1D)
Driver belongs to a CopyProtect application, manufacturers site found here. It's dated to 2004 which is way before Windows 7 was created. This shouldn't be used. Either uninstall it or update it.

As I said, if you need more information; I need you to run the applications from the BSOD posting instructions thread.

But you're welcome to try the other things I mentioned first.

The tuner is actually a YUAN DVB-T/Analog Hybried TV Tuner, but TOSHIBA OEM. And, Toshiba does not have any driver for that device that can work with Windows 7. A:Blue Screen on Restart ( DRIVER POWER STATE FAILURE)

Your mini-dumps seem to be pointing at the driver file: vwifibus.sys which is your Virtual WiFi bus driver:

Driver Reference Table

Please make sure you have all the Windows 8 Updates until you can install no more.

I have found a number of drivers you should update or un-install/remove if un-needed as these can also be the cause of your BSODs:

iaStor.sys - Intel Storage Drivers - Driver Reference Table
mwlPSDFilter.sys, mwlPSDVDisk.sys, mwlPSDNServ.sys - EgisTec Inc. Fingerprint Biometrics: Driver Reference Table
bScsiMSa.sys - Broadcom Memory Stick Driver: bscsimsa.sys - What is bscsimsa.sys ?
b57xdbd.sys - Broadcom xD Picture Card Bus Driver: b57xdbd.sys - What is b57xdbd.sys ?
b57xdmp.sys - Broadcom xD Picture Card Miniport Driver: b57xdmp.sys - What is b57xdmp.sys ?
ETD.sys - ELAN PS/2 Port Smart Pad: Driver Reference Table
UBHelper.sys - NTI CD &DVD-Maker or NTI Backup NOW! or NTI CD-Maker by NewTech Infosystems (usually in Acer Empowering Technology): Driver Reference Table
NTIDrvr.sys - NTI CD-ROM Filter Driver by NewTech Infosystems (likely a part of Acer Empowering Technology): Driver Reference Table
IntcDAud.sys - Intel Graphics Media Accelerator HD Driver: Driver Reference Table
TurboB.sys - Intel Turbo Boost Driver: Driver Reference Table

You might also want to make sure your Acer is fully updated to the Windows 8 64 bit drivers. This includes chipset/motherboard and others: http://global-download.acer.com/File...iveUpdater.exe

I've noticed that your BIOS version is 1.05 and the latest appears to be 1.13 or 2.09 (for windows 7 upgrades). You might consider upgrading this as a last resort but please follow all manufacturers precautions before doing so as any errors may make your system inoperable.

It's being caused by your fingerprint reader; you need to update or reinstall the drivers for those.

Hello,
I recently encountered a sudden blue screened error message with the following error that was suggested to research: "Power_Driver_State_Failure". I have only seen the error once thus far, but I fear that I may see it again at some point. It forced a restart, and the rebooting process was rather slow.
My operating system is Windows 8.1, and I have a Lenovo Y510p ideapad (nearly 9 months old).
Is this a significant error? Is there any way to prevent it from returning again?
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you,
~Trav.~

As per both files your issue is with the Nvidia driver nvllddmkm.sys If we here at TechSpot received a dollar for every time this driver came up we could all retire. Go to Asus' website, find your exact notebook model and update the drivers from there.

Hi everyone. This is my first post on the forum, so I really appreciate any help that anyone may be able to offer. I have been receiving a drive state power failure error since clean installing Windows 8 on my system. I suspect it may be a bad driver or something, but I am not sure. I already set my system to not hibernate or sleep and I tried updating my BIOS and removing a third-party Spyware protection program, but the error occurred again. I followed the instructions and have attached my memory dump information.

Thanks again for your help!

A:Drive Power State Failure.. not sure why!

The minidumps seem to be pointing at the file: pci.sys which is the NT Plug and Play PCI Enumerator:

Driver Reference Table - pci.sys

This file could be corrupt so make sure you download the latest manufacturers chipset motherboard drivers for Windows 8 64bit:

ASUS - Motherboards- ASUS P8Z68-V PRO/GEN3

Also make sure you have all the Windows 8 updates until you can no longer be updated.

I have also found two drivers that you might consider updating or un-installing/removing if un-needed:

HECIx64.sys - Intel Management Engine Interface: Driver Reference Table - HECIx64.sys
P17.sys - Creative SB Audigy LS: Driver Reference Table - P17.sys

I would suggest you to turn on USB selective suspense, to see if it is caused by the driver or the hardware itself.
USB Selective Suspend - Turn On or Off

► If there any devices attached in the USB ports (other than keyboard and mouse), remove those and see if the situation changes.

► And, while getting windows updates, get all the updates. Your Default Hub Driver for USB is very old, compared to the other few drivers. So the chance of incompatibility is there.

Hello,
There have been many problems since installing W8 from the Shutdown and Restart button being unresponsive to USB 3.0 failures to nvidia driver issues.

Anyhow, I've had numerous BSOD since upgrading from W7 Pro, so I did a clean install of Win 8 Pro afterwards. But now I've encountered another recent issue, a drive power state failure. The problem occurred when I was removing my USB 3.0 PCI card and dusting off any dirt because I've come to believe the card is dead (device manager shows a yellow ! beside Renesas usb 3.0 xHCI). I booted the computer and when I snapped the side plate back on to the case I get the error.

Any help would be appreciated.

A:BSOD, drive power state failure

Welcome
It takes several BSODs to ascertain the definitive cause of your problem. You have given us one report and it mentions a driver. It is a Microsoft Driver and not the true cause. After a few more BSODs report again.

How often do these BSODs occur?

I see Daemon Tools is installed; a common BSOD cause. Uninstall it, and then remove SPTD with this tool: http://www.duplexsecure.com/download...t-v174-x64.exe

Also, uninstall AVG and install MSE in its place.

AVG removal tool: http://www.avg.com/us-en/download-tools

MSE: http://www.microsoft.com/security_essentials

I see your USB camera was involved in one of the September crashes; if still installed, you may consider removing it.

If the above does not help, enable driver verifier: http://www.sysnative.com/0x1/Driver_Verifier.htm

This has been the first crash I've gotten in ages. Basically I was just playing New Vegas on my computer, and the game randomly locked up during normal gameplay and gave me that error. I uploaded the crash dump file
http://www.mediafire.com/?sidtlnt7tixrf00
but not sure what was the cause of the issue.
Also, I tried using readyboost today for the first time in a while, that may have been the issue because I'm unsure about my memory card reader driver for 7.

A:Drive Power State Failure BSOD

Please visit the PC Manufacturer's website and download/install the most recent version of the Media Card Reader drivers for Win7 and your system. The BSOD points to o2sdx64.sys - a component of your Memory Card Reader driver by O2Micro.

My laptop is fairly new and should not be giving me the issues that it does. It suddenly started blue screening for no reason. I don't have to be doing anything, it will just crash for no reason. I have done a full system wipe and it still crashes. I need help.

It seems to be random and it only used to in a day? times Drive Power Failure State multiple be once or twice a month but now its multiple times daily First my internet will stop working To the point where it shows the yellow triangle on my internet symbol and the only wifi it can find is the one it was previously connected to albeit it refuses to reconnect Some times the fix is a restart then turning on the wifi adapter as admin which I don't Drive Power State Failure multiple times in a day? know why it turns off in the first place but most of the times that isn't the case I will attempt a restart it will take around minutes to fully restart after showing DRIVER STATE POWER FAILURE in a blue screen I've tried what I've found online Starting in Safe Mode and uninstalling the bad driver but that's the problem I don't know which driver is the problem because none of them have the yellow triangle So could it be another issue causing this problem

I recently have been getting blue shutdown screens on my laptop. I will give you plenty of information about my computer. I put all the information about the Blue screen dump files and my System Information file in an attachment. I hope this helps. I recently found out you could save the System Information file as a text and also as an .exe. This should help diagnose the problem! This is how it happens, I will be using my computer and then the computer will become very slow and unresponsive. It is not completely unresponsive but it will be so slow that I cannot use it, then after about 3 minutes of this slow unresponsiveness the blue screen will show up and say driver power state failure and shutdown. I recently formatted the computer because it had been doing this before so I restored it back to factory defaults about one month ago.

Lately my 1.5 year old ASUS CM6870 Desktop running Win8.1 started to give me the BSOD with the following two error messages: Page Fault in Non_Page Area; and Drive Power State Failure. Occasionally I will get the sudden BSOD and this B stands for Black with no cursor or message showing. In about 10 seconds the monitor will display a message saying it is going into inactive mode. I pressed the desktop power button, the system just shut down. Two days ago at log off Windows was doing update and at 30%, everything was frozen. Left it on the whole night, same screen the next morning. Need to depress the power button to shut down the system although Windows said I can't shut down the PC while it's doing an update. That's about the symptoms I can recap for now. Zip file attached as instructed. Thanks.

Hi cabe and Welcome to SF!

First of all, hpdskflt.sys was mentioned in the crash dmp, it belongs to HP Mobile Data Protection System Disk Filter. I would download and install fresh copy of the driver, or might be uninstall it to see if it has anything to do with the crashes you've experienced.

For the mouse and thumbdrive, you might want to have their drivers installed properly, or perhaps you might want to try to have fresh re-install of USB driver by going to Device manager, under USB list you uninstall everything then restart your system. (To go to Device manager, right click on computer and choose manager)

In looking through your driver, I can see some out of date one:

Code:

So I have a pirated windows 8.1 which I have been using for more than a year now. Since the past one week my drivers ( especially the internet driver) keeps crashing and stops detecting any networks. Upon an attempted restart I get the Bsod for which I have attached the files ( All the minidumps.) I run a Dell 5521 R and have updated the drivers, uninstalled and reinstalled them too. Kindly help ASAP as I require my wifi urgently tomorrow.
Note: After restart the drivers get refreshed automatically and start working for sometime. And then the same issue. Please help.VATSAL-Tue_02_09_2016_101910_61.zip

So I just recently got a new computer, have had tons of problems with it already. Finally got it up and running and then I got a BSOD.

It is a Systemax Ascent
? OS - Windows 7
? x64
? What was original installed OS on system? Windows 7 64-bit
? It was an OEM Distro
? 1 month
? 3 days
? Intel Core i7 960 Bloomfield @ 3.2GHz
? Nvidia GTX 560 Ti
? Asus Sabertooth x58
? Power Supply- 550W don't know the brand.

The files per requested in the BSOD posting rules are included in the post as well.

I am thinking it may be the graphics driver as this is the second card I had to get from the manufacture, but I have now way of telling, because I do not know how to decipher these output files.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

A:power state failure

Hi

DRIVER_POWER STATE_FAILURE is a common BSOD and it is really hard to say what is causing it without collecting and analyzing some basic info about your system.

As this error is very common by faulty drivers please uninstall the following items from 'Control Panel" and update to the latest drivers available in Lenovo site.

    a ) Display
    b ) Chipset
    c ) LAN and WLAN
d ) Lenovo Energy management software
c ) Antivirus Software (Necessary as this can be caused by kernel mode  driver installed by AV programs ). Download latest setup from the respective  site.

Download the latest drivers and Antivirus setup to a local folder in your Laptop. Now uninstall in the following order - Energy management software,LAN, WLAN , display , chipset and then AV. If any of them asks for restarting please do so. Re install them in the reverse order. That is chipset first and energy management last. Install AV after drivers finishes.

Please post how your system works after updating those. If the issue still remains we need to analyze your crash dump files for further steps. Also you will be required to run some info gathering tools.

Computer was recently updated to Windows 8. When laptop lid is closed and opened, BSOD instead of sleep. I need to know which driver is causing it. "grab all" results attached. Thanks.

A:Driver power state failure

Welcome to Eight Forums,

Looks like a mixture of drivers from Acronis and Total Mounter seems to be the cause of the BSOD.
I would uninstall both these programs and their drivers and see if the sleep mode BSOD is eliminated.
Do you have a SSD and is the firmware for it up to date? Check for one, it may bring stability.

I am not sure what is causing this problem, by laptop is about 3 months old. When it comes out of sleep mode I get a message saying- "Your PC ran into a problem,This problem caused your PC to restart"
I had thought it was solved as it happened more frequently around 2weeks about then I updated drivers and the problem was gone. But it seem to have reappeared. I am not the most computer savvy, and would appreciate your help :) here is a copy of the minidump

The two were Related to Rt630x64.sys 8101E/8168/8169 NDIS 6.30 64-bit Driver from Realtek. Yours is ~ 2 years old.

I would re-install the newest driver available. If you continue to crash I would remove AVG and use the built in defender.

If you are under warranty and continue to crash I would consider having them fix it.

I shut down my laptop as I usually do, but I was short in time, so I didn't watch it turn off. When I came back home a few hours later, I found it turned on, showing the lock screen. Apparently it had a BSOD while it was shutting down and then restared.
I ran bluescreen view and it said it was a driver power state failure cause by ntoskrnl.exe, but I have no idea what to do to prevent it from happening again... It was the only time so far, but I had that same BSOD on another laptop and it was recurrent, a real pain in the ass... I don't want that to happen to this laptop too.

I was hoping maybe you could help me figure out how fix that... thanks in advance!

A:Driver Power State Failure

Not much info here.

I wonder about USB devices first - as there's traces of Windows USB drivers in the stack.
In particular I'm suspicious of the Rainbow Tech/SafeNet USB Security Device - as it's driver (Sentinel64.sys) dates from 2008 and I've seen problems with these devices in the past.

If I'm correct, uninstalling the software for this device and physically removing it from your system should stop the BSOD's.

Please update these older drivers. Links are included to assist in looking up the source of the drivers. If unable to find an update, please remove (un-install) the program responsible for that driver. DO NOT manually delete/rename the driver as it may make the system unbootable! :

Attaching the DMP file seems difficult, as it is over 300MB, somehow. Is there any way to split off the more recent part of it, or an easy upload service where I could send it?

I used a program called Bluescreenview to make a text file out of the most recent dump... I think. Here's the text file it gave me.

A:DRIVER POWER STATE FAILURE

Hi,

The attached DMP is of the DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE (9f) bugcheck.

This error occurs if drivers do not handle power state transition requests properly, usually during one of the following procedures: shut down, suspending or resuming from standby, suspending or resuming from hibernation.

From the perfmon:

It appears this is being caused by amd_sata.sys which is the AMD SATA Controller AHCI 1.2 Device Drive driver, although there is likely something else faulting that driver as well. Given there's only one dump there's not much I can say for sure.

Drivers way too old for Windows 8:

AvgAsC64.sys - Wed Feb 07 07:47:34 2007 - This is a Windows system file AFAIK, however, yours is dated from 2007. I need to look into this.

guard64.sys - Wed May 30 07:55:28 2007 - I believe this belongs to AVG anti virus. Remove whatever AVG components you have installed on your system.

Removal tool - AVG | Download tools and utilities

SCDEmu.SYS - Tue Aug 07 11:19:48 2007 - PowerISO Virtual Drive driver. Remove and replace PowerISO with another imaging software that is NOT Daemon Tools.

Can you please enable Driver Verifier?

Good morning to one and all.

I have been getting this failure on and off for months now and I hope somebody can help.
It isn't to bad but I would like to get to know what the problem is.

Many thanks.

A:Driver Power State Failure

Your BIOS dates from 2010. Please check at the manufacturer's website to see if there are any BIOS updates available for your system. Also check the readme file to see if they apply to the problems that you are having. Please be advised that flashing the BIOS is a very unforgiving process - and one mistake can physically damage your motherboard.

Interestingly, each of the memory dumps mentions GEARAspiWDM.sys - a driver most commonly used by iTunes.
I'd suggest uninstalling iTunes in order to test this (but don't suspect that this is the cause). The reason it's involved (I think) is because the error is in the section of the chipset drivers that involves the controllers for the CD/DVD drives.

If this is your motherboard: ECS Web Site > GF8100VM-M5 (V1.0)
Then your chipset is the GeForce 8100/nForce 720a - which does have Win8 and 8.1 compatible drivers available from nVidia here: Drivers - Download NVIDIA Drivers I cannot tell the dates of the drivers from the date of the package - you'll have to install it and see if the drivers are updated (we'll check them in any subsequent BSOD's).

But, the ECS website doesn't have any BIOS later than 2010 - and it appears it doesn't support Win8 on this motherboard.

Please update these older drivers (they're all part of the chipset drivers). Links are included to assist in looking up the source of the drivers. If unable to find an update, please remove (un-install) the program responsible for that driver. DO NOT manually delete/rename the driver as it may make the system unbootable! :

I've recently inherited a laptop from a friend of mine. I did a reformat/reinstall of Windows, and have been getting fairly a persisitent yet seemingly random BSOD. Always accompanied by the same message: driver power state failure. I am assuming that I have installed the wrong driver for one or more components, despite grabbing them all from the manufacturer's website. I am hoping you guys can help me narrow down which one.

My system:

Windows vista x64 SP2 Full retail (I think)
Original OS was the same, although likely OEM
Machine is 4 years old
Reinstalled Windows about 2 weeks ago

CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo T5750 2.0 Ghz

MotherBoard: Acer Columbia, Chipset: PM965, Southbridge: 82801HBM (ICH8-ME)
Power Supply: ???

System Manufacturer: Acer

Thanks for taking a look. I hope I gave you all the necessary info.

I just got a BSoD with the error as DRIVER POWER STATE FAILURE I Power Failure State Driver have attached the logs Also I was googling for this and one site told to run sigverif The output for that is also attached The second and third one are okay because I allowed them to install They are a custom trackpad driver for Windows on Mac Trackpad Project Home Page However the first one I don't recognize Is that the Driver Power State Failure problem And I think the Driver Power State Failure problem is with USB I know you said last time it is Kaspersky but I have observed that whenever my USB ports act funny after waking up from sleep the system won't go to sleep Driver Power State Failure again What I started doing was whenever I observe my USB port going bonkers I restart the system Today I did the same thing and voila BSoD I would like to add one last thing During our last conversation if usasma is reading this you mentioned apple drivers which were older than the one in Bootcamp Those are because Trackpad updates these drivers and replaces this I don't think this is a problem as many of my friends are using it without issues But wdfcoinstaller dll is what I am suspecting I also did Step of the advanced troubleshooting here and am attaching that file via SkyDrive as it is too big to attach here http sdrv ms CINyA

A:Driver Power State Failure

The wdfcoinstaller is OK, here's a link to a description of it: Redistributable Framework Components (Windows Drivers)

The dump files blame 2 things - so let's start this out slowly.
First, uninstall Kaspersky and see if the system still BSOD's. Give it a day or two.
Then, if it does still BSOD, uninstall the VMWare program and see if it still BSOD's

Leave the system as it is, and upload the memory dumps.
We'll see what they blame and we'll move on from there.

I have a user whose laptop has been acting up, crashing, freezing, etc. randomly, she was only using word.

Her BSOD happened after awaking from sleep. Error message was "driver power state failure" stop: 0x0000009f (or however many zeros!). She had to pull the battery to get the laptop to restart.

I've attached the SF zip file - any help appreciated!

A:Driver Power State Failure

You have a NETGEAR WNDA4100 N900 Wireless Dual Band USB Adapter:

I do not recommend using wireless USB network devices. Especially in Win7/Win8 systems.
These wireless USB devices have many issues with Win7(and I suspect with Win8) - using Vista drivers with them is almost sure to cause a BSOD.
Should you want to keep using these devices, be sure to have Win7/Win8 drivers - DO NOT use Vista drivers!!!
An installable wireless PCI/PCIe card that's plugged into your motherboard is much more robust, reliable, and powerful.

We've seen a number of BSOD issues with SSD's. Here's the information that I've compiled so far:

There's not a whole bunch available to test SSD's. The "easiest" test is to remove the SSD, install a platter-based hard drive, install Windows and test for stability that way.

Here's some suggestions:
- Update the SSD's firmware to the latest available version (VERY IMPORTANT!!!)
- Update the motherboard controllers drivers to the latest available version from the controller manufacturer (NOT the mobo manufacturer unless you can't find any on the controller manufacturer's website). Be sure to update ALL controllers on the motherboard! I STRONGLY suggest not using controller drivers older than mid-2012 with SSD's.
- Slow the memory (RAM) down to the next slower speed (I've only seen one person who claimed that this worked for them).
- Use any manufacturer's utilities that you may have. If you don't have any, then try this free one (I haven't used it myself): Crystal Dew World
....NOTE: Recently (Nov 2011) we had BSOD issues with the Marvell 91xx controller and an SSD. You may have to switch controllers also.
- Replace the SSD with a platter based hard drive and see if that stops the BSOD's. If it does, then it's likely that there's a problem with the SSD OR an incompatibility with your system.
06 Dec 2011 - This post tends to confirm issues with certain SSD chipsets and certain controllers - [SOLVED] cant find the cause of BSOD F4 - Tech Support Forum
05 Jan 2013 - very interesting post about difficulties with the Marvell controllers even when not connected to the SSD drives: http://www.eightforums.com/bsod-cras...ing-sleep.html
27 Feb 2013 - I'm starting to see much better reliability with SSD's using current (mid-2012 and later) storage drivers. I have withdrawn my objections to using these devices in everyday systems.

These devices are disabled:

Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client Virtual Miniport Adapter for Windows x64 ROOT\NET\0000 This device is disabled.
ASUS PCE-N10 11n Wireless LAN PCI-E Card PCI\VEN_10EC&DEV_8176&SUBSYS_84B51043&REV_01\4&BA882FD&0&0020 This device is disabled.

Based on my previous experiences with this sort of combination, I suggest:
- Temporarily uninstalling the Cisco AnyConnect software
- Enabling the Asus wireless LAN PCI-E card and updating it's drivers
- uninstalling the NETGEAR wireless USB network card and physically removing it from the system
- test to see if this stops the BSOD's (and the wakeup problem).

Daemon Tools (and Alcohol % software) are known to cause BSOD's on some Windows systems (mostly due to the sptd.sys driver, although I have seen dtsoftbus01.sys blamed on several occasions).

Please un-install the program, then use the following free tool to ensure that the troublesome sptd.sys driver is removed from your system (pick the 32 or 64 bit system depending on your system's configuration): [S] DuplexSecure - FAQ [/S] Link broken as of 21 Jul 2012

Power supply is Lenovo, model ADP-65KH B, 20V output.

I also spent a bunch of time updating all the drivers, etc. that I could find...which didn't help. I didn't find any anti-virus software to remove, which I've seen in other threads can be problems.

Also, I forgot to attach the second report in my initial post so I've attached it here.

Hey all,

I just put Windows 8 Professional 32-Bit on my Gateway M100-E laptop. It seems to crash when it is restarted and it's power state has changed. As in from battery to power cord and vice-versa. The BSOD tells me the error is called a driver power state failure. This laptop is 100% stock with the latest Windows 8 updates. The antivirus I'm using is the included Windows Defender and Windows Firewall. Attached are my log files.

The Asmedia 106x SATA controller driver has caused the crash.
As a bluescreen crash happened only once, I wouldn't be worried too much about it.

Hi

Crash dumps blame "Storport.sys" ( Microsoft Storage Port Driver) as the reason behind the crashes. So the issue is definitely storage related.

Please try the below steps and let us know the result.

1. Update storage controller driver.

Download and install the latest "Chipset" driver from this link - http://www2.ati.com/drivers/13-9_win7_win8_32-64_sb.exe

2. Change power plan to "High Performance".

Windows 7 Ultimate 64 Bit, 3 month old build and installation. i7 cpu 960 @ 3.2 ghz. EVGA GeForce GTX 460 gpu. ASUS Sabertooth x58 motherboard. Antec PSU 750w.

I originally had two ram chips installed, 4gb each from the same package but the other chip was giving me issues, which I thought was originally the cause of the problem. After having ran memtest for 10+ hours per chip, the current chip ran over 14 cycles with no errors, and the second chip gave an illegible screen. So that's being RMA'd, however the powerstate failures persist. At least as far as I understand the current chip isn't faulty.

A:power state failure, getting frequent

Did a drive verification god knows what stupid reason, which ended up in an obvious bsod. MDPMGNT.SYS, something about memory. Followed the directions about restoring to a previous point. That failed. I don't see what the drive verifier did, as cmd prompt query shows it didn't run. The memory dump for the bsod doesn't exist anywhere, maybe because of the restore, maybe something else. But now my I have a partially restored system, and bitdefender apparently no longer protecting my system. So that's nice.

A:BSOD Power State Failure

The BSOD is caused by LSI Adapter, SAS2 2008 Falcon (c:\windows\system32\drivers\lsi_sas2.sys). And the driver is very old, of 2009.

I am totally against using third party storport drivers, but disabling it may need a clean install. In that case, your first try should be updating it from Download Search.

Also, you need to uninstall Virtual CloneDrive.

Let us know the results.

A:Driver power state failure

I had the same problem. Try uninstalling the "HP ProtectSmart Hard Drive Protection" drivers. I did that and my HP is running more smoothly now, but it was easy getting rid of the old drivers. I had to manually copy the new "HP 3d Driveguard" drivers to replace the old Protectsmart drivers. Good luck.

Microsoft Security Essentials - Free Antivirus for Windows

Malwarebytes - Free

The latest BSOD most certainly appears to be related to the CDROM drive -- disconnect it until you get the newer drive.

When you get the bluescreen, do you get this information on the blue screen :
"Stop 0x0000009F"
and this: "(00000003, parameter2, parameter3, parameter4)" ?

Without dump files your job will be made much harder, because if you can't identify the exact driver that is causing the problem then it probably makes sense to replace/update all of you drivers, one at a time.

See here for instructions:
DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE 0x0000009f - Microsoft Answers

Sometimes when you look at the Properties for your devices in Device Manager you might see a problem device clearly. You also may have clues as to which device from your use of your laptop. And of course, if you've made any system changes or installations around the time the behavior cropped up now would be the time to mention that.

Hi,

The camera driver (snp2uvc.sys) is blamed for this issue!

Look here & try the "Two" listed drivers: -

http://drp.su/drivers/notebooks/?v=A...Sn&id=242&l=en

USB 2.0 UVC 1.3M WebCam & USB2.0 1.3M UVC WebCam

So, give them a go & see what happens from there. OK?
