I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A:WRT54G V6 Won't Port Forward

Have you forwarded ports for any other device or software, do they work on that router?

The only thing I can think of is if your ISP has your IP address behind their firewall, known as a private IP.

I know you said you asked them, but you might call back and ask a technician if your IP address is Public or Private.

You can't really with the stock firmware. You might take a look at DD-WRT firmware for that router, it has real bandwidth limiting.

Hello,

I have a Linksys WRT54g wireless router. I use one of the LAN (wired) ports for one of my desktops. However, the other day, the first LAN port died on me. I was surfing the net, when the computer told me that a network cable has been unplugged. I checked the connections, but the problems persisted.

I then moved the cable to the next LAN port over on the built in switch, and that one worked. This leads me to believe that the first LAN port has failed.

What should I do about this? Do you think Linksys would provide me with a new one?

If it's under warranty I'm sure they will remedy the problem. If out of warranty it's your problem.

A:router not passing port scan after opening port

Have you tried a different port to see if that port is being blocked by your ISP?

I also see that your parsing TCP to UDP, probably doesn't make a difference to the port being open or closed but it might be better to set them both the same or set to Any.

Another problem you may encounter is your IP may change, most ISP's like to change your IP every so often so you may have to set up a DDNS with a hostname in order to access the services you want remotely.

The general answer is that you forward the port to the computer or game machine you are using.

I have a Netcore router model # 2105 NR. I seem to be having trouble opening a port on this router. I've gone through the manual but so far I'm pulling my hair out trying to figure it out. It doesn't seem to have a port forwarding section when I'm in the main menu. I've noticed that the D-Link routers have it, but this one (probably because it's cheap) doesn't seem to have this section. How do I free up a port ? Can someone guide me through this ? Here is the link to the website with my model:

I really hope that you tech guys can figure this one out !!!

I sent numerous emails to this company with no one responding. Guess I should have spent a bit more money and went with D-Link eh ?

A:Need help opening a port

A quick scan of the link page you provided indicates the router supports port-forwarding.

I quote: "Supports virtual server which makes LAN services (such as FTP, WWW, TELNET, DNS, etc) to be accessible to the Internet users".

Look though your technical documentation for "virtual server"; that's port-forwading.

My router/modem (one box) is a Motorola SBG 940. I need to open port 5190.

My problem is I need it open it up for at least two computers. I can get it open for one, but not the second. The port set-up page ask me for the LAN IP Address. I need to open it on both 192.168.0.4 and 192.168.0.5. If I have to open it up on every computer, it wouldn't matter at all. But it only gives me the option for one LAN IP, and when I try to add two entries, it gives me the error that the ports overlap.

Heres a screenshot if it helps. Thanks!

Ok I'm having a lot of difficulties with opening a port. I've used all the instructions that I found on portforwarding , got the DNS server IP's from my ISP but for some reason it just doesn't work.
I was under the impression that if you went into properties of "internet protocol (TCP/IP)" in the local area connection and changed the IP there (as well as putting in the DNS's) you were changing your IP? But then I used the portchecker
and a whole different ip pops up then? Also some websites don't work while I got the DNS manually written down in the properties.
what shall I do next?

A:port opening

Is the Zxyel the only external device you are using for Internet?

With NAT, there are two IPs, a local IP and a public. Most websites will only read the public IP, and the local IP is the IP from the network connections, and in utorrent the IP that displays is most likely the public IP.

Log in to your router by navigating to the IP address of the router (http://192.168.1.1 is the default). Once logged in, click on "Applications and Gaming". Forward port 5001 to the internal IP address of you Slingbox. Click "Save Settings". Done!

Linksys absolutely still supports this router... http://linksys.com. Click Support on the top, click "Choose a Product", "Wireless Routers" under "Routers and Access Points", then your model. Full support is there, including user guide, etc.

Hello,
First off my router is a Netgear model WNR834bv2.
I have been trying to open port 22 on my router so that I can grade the homework that I am doing for school using the website academy.redhat.com
I run windows 7 64bit with VMware workstation and CentOS running in that so that I can do the Linux work.
After trying to forward the port to get it open after 4 hours i have managed to get it from "Closed" to "Stealth" and now i can not get it past that point. I have bypassed my router by plugging right into the cable modem. I have Time Warner if that helps at all. I have disabled Windows firewall also to try and figure out if maybe that is why the port is not open. If there is any other ideas or anything that could be helpful please let me know.
Thanks!

Are you sure you don't want to open a tcp port? (READ FURTHER DOWN)From KAV supportset the firewall to training mdoe and you'll recieve popups when connection attempts not defined in the rules are made. You should not open a port, instead set a number of rules for the application on your PC.If KAV firewall does not allow this, I advice that you use a different firewall like Zonealarm Free.By opening a port you render yourself vulnerable. Instead you need to allow access for a specific application. Hope that made sence. *edit added impotant notification*edit2If I'm not making sence. Feel free to ask again.

Router: BT HomeHub

I'm having alot of trouble opening some ports on my router. I can open ports in my router's control panel, but they don't open. Everything looks fine and dandy in the control panel but the ports are still not open.

Whenver i visit a port test site, or something that scans ports to see if they are open or closed on my computer, all i get is timeouts. Every port times out! i still can't use applications that require ports to be opened manually, simply because they timeout according to various test websites.

I've completely disabled the windows firewall from services, uninstalled my antivirus, and have no firewall running ( even disabled router firewall ) and all my ports still timeout.

I am a complete noob when it comes to networking issues, so any advice highly appreciated!!!

A:Port Opening Problem

I am not all familiar with a BT HomeHub but have configured a number of different routers for port forwarding. I am also assuming that you wish to perform port forwarding when you say you are opening ports on the router.

1) Check your ISP's terms of service. If they do not allow you to operate a server, they may be blocking typical access ports for such servers.

2) Does the computer that is running the application always have the same IP address on your LAN? This could be done on the computer by assigning it a static IP address or having the router's DHCP server reserve a specific IP address for that computer.

Hey people,

It's been a long time since I did any DIY IT stuff, kinda ditched all of that when i bailed out of a career in network support 5 years back. So i'm a little rusty and my patience isnt what it was.

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/w...ndows-Firewall

I recently followed this article for opening several ports, specfically;

? TCP 80
? UDP 88
? UDP 3074
? TCP 3074
? UDP 53
? TCP 53

However, step 3 on Windows guide, there is no option to allow you to manually 'Add Port', I've checked all the ports mentioned, and they are closed, what i need to know is how to open them, with windows 7! I'm really stumped here and feel like i'm going in circles a little bit. I even phoned my ISP and they blew me off completely.

All help appreciated much!

Hello,

I have a program that has two components: RCS and ShortwaveLog) that to work properly together apparently requires the opening, or allowing, for a particularly Port No. of the Windows Firewall.

"If RCS and Shortwave Log are not communicating and you have a software-based firewall, you may need to add a rule to allow TCP port 21687 to pass. This rule need only be applied to localhost (127.0.0.1)."

Have been trying to find what to change, and where, without messing anything else up, but I cannot. The Help File says to click on items that do not appear on the screens (in my PC). Help is probably out of date ?

Might someone please tell me all the explicit steps that I have to go thru, and where to find the items.

(I have the 64 bit version of W7, but not sure whether the program uses the 64 version or not ?)

Much thanks,
Bob

A:Opening A Firewall Port ?

Does this help as a start?

1. Open Windows Firewall by clicking the Start button, clicking Control Panel, clicking Security, and then clicking Windows Firewall.
2. Click Allow a program through Windows Firewall. If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
3. Click Add port.
4. In the Name box, type a name that will help you remember what the port is used for.
5. In the Port number box, type the port number i.e 21687.
6. Click TCP or UDP, depending on the protocol.
7. To change scope for the port, click Change scope, and then click the option that you want to use. ("Scope" refers to the set of computers that can use this port opening.)

Have you already solved this?

A:Trouble with opening/forwarding port

Hi there,

Have you done IP reservation in your router for port-forwarding?

Port 25 is an example of a Port that is often blocked by an ISP in an attempt to prevent malicious activity or programs that hog bandwidth, read more here. You may call your ISP to find out..... or it can be that your router has an outdated firmware. In some occasions, a router is the culprit and changing to a different one helps.

Enabling DMZ in your router might be another option for you but it can be risky as you're exposing your computer to unknown sources (i.e. hackers).

Hope this helps.

Greetings, I hope I'm in the right place. My sister has a dial-up internet connection on a modern XP computer which was working fine. The modem has now now failed to dial in getting stuck at Opening port. Processor use goes up to 80-100% most of it in use by System.
I deleted and rewrote the DUN, adjusted OE, same result. I uninstalled and reinstalled the modem from setup drivers, diagnostics talked to the modem OK. Next try to dial in also got stuck at opening port.
Can anyone please suggest what might be the problem and how to cure it?
Thanks.

I'm trying to open a port in my router and I can't seem to get it. I also have two of my same computer name in my Firewall settings. Whenever I try to Add a new definition to what I think is the right computer name it says an unknown error has occurred so I enabled DMZ for that computer name. Then for the other computer name which I believe doesn't do anything I added a definition for the port I want to open.

Whenever I check my port on any website that allows it it says it's closed.

Is there a way to reset everything so there is absolutely no computers on my firewall settings? I think the problem is that someone my computer got duplicated and the one that needs to have the definition added is getting an unknown error...

ive been researching how to forward a port for azerues for faster speeds
and im 100 percent sure how to do it now
but lookin around other sites i testd that port and it said it was open, does that mean its aldready forwarded and optimized for my azerues?

I have posted here in the past and you guys solved my problem in no time so Is forwarding/opening port safe? I m hoping you can help me here too Basically what I need is more of an explanation as opposed to helping solve a problem I do a lot of torrenting but my dad thinks that forwarding my ports for better speeds is unsafe I am kind of getting fed up because I have extremely fast internet yet I am getting quite slow download speed when torrenting The main reason that my dad thinks that opening the ports is unsafe is because I am using the internet connection from my basement where he runs his business He thinks that if I open up my ports then a virus could get through to his work computers I am connected to his network through a wired router that a few of his work computers are also attached to So my question is this I am fairly sure that opening a single port for use with uTorrent would not cause a security risk for any of the computers there may be some small risk for me but I am not too worried about that Am I right about this Is port forwarding/opening safe? Also please provide an explanation as Is port forwarding/opening safe? to why or why not it would be safe to open the ports because I will hopefully show this thread to my dad to convince him to let me open the ports as long as I get an answer Thanks in advance and I hope you will be able to help me out Adrian nbsp

I have a very basic question about opening ports A lot of times for some of these games Ports Port Forwarding/Opening it asks you to open ports using words like quot outgoing quot and quot incoming quot but when I open ports with my Verizon router it s ActionTec but Port Forwarding/Opening Ports Verizon is slapped on the front and I only was able to figure that out by finding a label on the bottom of it when I go into my router I don t see ActionTec anywhere it s just source and destination A program I use Skype requires me to open a very large port range I ll quote The minimum requirement is that Skype needs unrestricted outgoing TCP access to all destination ports above or to ports and the former is better however If you don t allow either of those Skype will not work reliably at all Click to expand I DO see destination in there but I really need to be sure Is source outgoing and destination incoming Or are they completely different When I open source AND destination for - TCP how do I know I m not leaving a huge hole in my router open By what I believe I don t need to leave system info Please help Thanks nbsp

A:Port Forwarding/Opening Ports

It's great isn't it? All this different terminology. Nothing better to reassure you of hours of problems.

Outgoing ports are ports you want to allow out of your network. Some businesses only allow ports 80, 25 and 443 to prevent users using things like p2p, skype or encrypted communications. It is generally better to allow all ports out at home unless you are specifically blocking an application or suspected rogue application.

Incoming ports are ports you might want to allow through your firewall. Generally you allow certain ports from certain addresses. I can see you understand incoming anyway.

Source is a source IP address and port. You can define all ports from a specific address or a specific port from a range of or all addresses.

Destination is the opposite. You may want to use this if you wanted to only allow certain traffic out to a particular destination address.

I am sure when using incoming and outgoing the option to define ip addresses is available, so it's just semantics really.

Hi guys I m encountering this strange problem which has baffled me to the ground and which I haven t encountered Port said Web Forwarding not ! even be working is after to opening Interfaces even after years of doing port Web Interfaces not opening even after Port Forwarding is said to be working ! forwarding I am hoping somebody here can help me solve this Web Interfaces not opening even after Port Forwarding is said to be working ! mystery My network configuration is as follows I have a DSL modem custom made and branded by my ISP which is receiving a DSL stream it has an external IP which is visible to the world say Web Interfaces not opening even after Port Forwarding is said to be working ! This modem has DHCP enabled has an internal IP for itself which is it is connected to laptops via and ethernet cable Laptop has IP and Laptop has IP On Laptop two applications are running jDownloader and Media Player Classic which have their web interfaces on ports and respectively I can access both of these web interfaces from Laptop by opening these addresses and both of their web interfaces open up meaning the web interfaces are working fine Moving on I now want to access these web interfaces from outside my network as well and so I ve configured port forwarding in my DSL modem to forward all traffic on ports between and both TCP and UDP to IP I have verified that port forwarding is working by testing it using PortForward com s port checker tool and this website too http www yougetsignal com tools open-ports When I use the website if I m running the applications on Laptop the website reports that the port is open if I then close the application the website reports the port is closed This makes sense as nothing is listening on my machine in the latter case Also if I disable port forwarding in my modem again the website reports the port is closed so the website s results seem to be okay Same of the above can be said when I m used PortForward com s port checker tool So again everything okay so far Now here comes the problem Despite the above tools reporting that port forwarding is working I am unable to open the web interfaces from outside my network So for example if I tried to browse or nothing opens in my browser But if I accessed these web server s locally from Laptop by typing in or they opened So where is the problem here The tools report unanimously that port forwarding is working and yet I am unable to open the web interfaces from outside the network Also note that I have disabled the firewall from my computer and have also made sure that any option in the above programs whose web interfaces I am trying to open that says only local connections are to be accepted is disabled So whats the problem Any ideas nbsp

Hey everyone, I've got a slight issue with my Dynex router. I can't find anywhere in the settings to open up ports 8889 (TCP) and 9901 (UDP), and I've checked the McAfee firewall settings and allowed access to those ports, and I can't find anything in there otherwise either.

According to Yougetsignal.com however, none of my ports are open. How is this possible?

I'm trying to use a program with my phone called Gmote (http://gmote.org) which uses the ports mentioned above, along with my wireless network, to either control my computer via my phone, or stream music to my phone. I'm interested in the latter portion.

I've searched various topics here for an idea of how to open ports, but to no avail. Anyone have any suggestions?

A:opening port 62176 in Vista firewall

Hello, and welcome to the Vista Forums!

You can open a port in your Firewall, but that may not be the only place where it is blocked. You need to unblock it at every program. What router do you have? Unblock it at the router. Do you have any other Firewalls running? (not recommended anyway) Unblock it there. Is your Internet connections travelling through any other computer? Unblock it on their Firewall. There must be something else in the chain. I would imagine your router. Ask if you need any help!

Hello fellow 7ians

Just wondered if there's a way to open 2 ports via UPnP (specifically 113 and 3389) on startup, as my silly router refuses to give my computer the same IP every time. Yes, I know I could set my IP as static locally, however, I move my computer to various locations to "share" things

Cheers

Nchy

A:Opening an UPnP port on windows startup

You should be able to have your Router assign your PC a specific IP with its DHCP Reservation function. You enter that PC's NIC's MAC Address and then assign an IP address. That NIC/PC will always be given the same IP address by your router. Its all done in your router so it won't affect what you do on another network. You'll have to read though your routers manual for the correct procedure.

Hello,

Trying to use a program that communicates with, and controls, a radio via a 232 cable.

Apparently there are a number of Ports that must be open for it to work.

I have looked at all the Firewall screens, and the Advanced Firewall screens, their Rules etc., but cannot find any place that lists the open Ports by numbers, and gives one the opportunity to Enable them.

What am I missing, please ?

Where should I look ?

Thanks,

This is my first post on these forums though i have read a few useful resolutions for some of my previous problems From RDP WRT54G ISA or Anyway here s what i have on my plate Currently i have a network that communicates with the internet via an ISA Server Everything from Mail Transfer to Client Internet Browsing is routed through this machine Before i go any further i must let it be known that i do not administer this network internally as it is used by one of my clients I administer this network as well as many others with varying configurations from my own office configured similarly just on a larger scale The network in question also has a linksys WRT G router running RDP From ISA or WRT54G DD-WRT that i had originally put on site to make original configuration and Telus OCA registration more convenient Now i am trying to set this little router up as a secondary way of opening a remote desktop connection to a machine on the internal network in the event that there is a hardware RDP From ISA or WRT54G failure or instability on the isa server From the experimenting that i have already done using identical routers on my own network i have come to the following conclusion - The internal computer will only respond to the request if it comes in on the router that is configured as that computers gateway The problem is that i still want all traffic to be routed across the ISA Firewall until i open a terminal session to the internal machines and change these settings MANUALLY Also i have configured the router s to forward the RDP port to a selected computer on the internal network My question is as follows what can be done to allow my desired configuration to work without having to specify the default gateway on any of these machines to be the linksys router P S the default gateway is not a problem for my personal computer in my office as i already have my WRT designated as my default gateway for my personal applications that i have decided not to route through isa uPnP support on the router is preferred for what i am doing nbsp

Ok, here is what I am trying to do.

My neighbor has wireless internet and has given me their WPA code so I can use their signal. The problem I have is that my desktop is on the other side of the apt and I bought one of the USB Wireless adapters & plugged it in. It recognizes the network & I can login, however the signal is very weak/low and the signal keeps dropping.

I need to find a way to increase the signal strength to my bedroom. I have a Linksys WRT54G wireless router and was wondering if I could configure it to work on my desktop instead of the USB adapter (to gain better signal).

Is this possible and if not, what other things can I do to gain signal strength.

Thanks in advance.

A:Linksys WRT54G help

doesn't work that way. You need a WRE54G on the side of the house that your neighbor is to grab that signal and retransmit it to your desktop. Takes some semi-advanced configuration though... I've always done it manually so you might have luck using the cd that comes with the device.

Hi this is my first post here so please bare with me. At my house they do not offer high-speed internet but about a quarter of a mile away they have public wifi. So after reading off net I built a cantenna. So now here is my problem I just bought a Linksys WRT54G v 2 Wireless Router, Access Point, DD-WRT v23 sp2 loaded. 200 MHz; 16MB RAM; 4MB Flash, 250MW POWER off eBay. This is what I would like to do. I would like to be able to pick up the public wifi from the router and distribute it throughout my house using the same router and pick it up for use with my laptop with built in wireless card. The problem is I have no idea how to set up my router to accomplish all of this. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm trying to connect a wrt54g router with 2 pc's to share dsl among computers. I have the
desktop wired to the router running Windows98SE and my notebook has its linksys notebook card running WinXP. On the desktop: Once I connect the modem, to the router, to the desktop I can't get internet. All I get is "Page cannot be displayed". I can however access the router. What information do I need to configure the router with to get internet? For the notebook: I get an excellent signal, and again, no internet. Do I need to obtain a domain name and/or how do I properly configure the notebook card so I don't encounter this? Please help

I am thinking of changing the firmware of my Linksys WRT54G router to the open source application of Tomato.

http://www.polarcloud.com/tomato

Has anyone done this?

Based on post at lifehacker.com, the hack is supposed to give your router more features and allow you to tweak the router's settings.

Any thoughts?

A:WRT54G firmware

There are a number of 3rd party firmware packages for many Linksys models, one of the more popular ones is DD-WRT. I've heard good things about that one, I suspect Tomato is probably a similar thing, though I haven't looked into that particular package.

can anyone help me as to which one to buy and do they both come with the 'single button setup feature' to automatically detect IP addresses etc.

Please help me people i am stuck as to which one to buy

A:linksys WRT54G help

The speed-booster version is better, unless you plan on modifying it, then it depends on what models your modification works with.

do they both come with the 'single button setup feature' to automatically detect IP addresses etc.

Not that I know of.

If you plan on using custom firmware, or modding the device, you need to be aware that Linksys has changed from linux with recent models to avoid liscensing issues, so you may not be able to modify the device you get unless you specifically shop for a model that you know the modification will work with.

I currently use a WRT54G v5 router to connect to the internet. It has the DD-WRT v24 firmware on it.

Every now and again, the desktop that is connected (through ethernet, not wireless) loses it's connection and I have to restart my computer. This is extremely aggravating because it disturbs my work.
I have tried connecting straight through to my computer with the modem and the problem goes away. So i have narrowed the problem down to my router.

Using XP's network repair option does not work. The repair stops at "Acquiring network address..."
It seems as if the computer loses its IP address. The "ipconfig" commands in CMD do not work either.

please help.

Bought the above-referenced router the other day. Set-up was a breeze and after a couple of hiccups, connectivity seems to be solid. However...I have noticed *considerable* increase in download times from the web. For example, on YouTube, prior to installing the router, I never had problems running any videos without lags. Now I lag and stop/start with every one I try to view. I now keep Task Mgr open at all times to observe performance and CPU use. My CPU% pegs with the WUSB54GC.exe process bouncing all over from 0% to ~ 80%. An average webpage stalls on loading. What can I do to get my previous download speeds back???

A:Linksys WRT54G Qs

I'm assuming that file is the connection utility that came with the installation CD?

Have you tried disabling that and using the Windows Connection Utility?

Have you scanned for virii or malware lately? Install anything other than the router?

My attitude is "if it ain't broke..." and I don't know how old my router is, but it works just fine. Is there a big advantage to go to Wireless N, and is it the "latest?" I use a Roku box, a laptop, iPod Touch and iPad2 with my wifi.
Thanks!

A:WRT54G Linksys

It is the latest standard and typically gives you faster and more stable wireless transfers.
However, to benefit from those advantages on all your devices, they would all have to be wireless N compatible.

I've always had great sucess with Linksys, just retired one of mine that was 7 years old and never had a problem with it.

I just recently took this one as partial payment for a job. It has good reviews, but I never hooked it up because I don't use wireless and I had another wired unit sitting on the shelf so I used it.

All the proper lights are on the router, however when I try and connect to the internet, it says it is unable to detect the DNS server. Any help would be greatly appreciated, I'm running out of patience!

I am connected through this router as I type this. It is ethernet cable wired to port 1 on the back of the router.

When I try to get to the adminstration console to upgrade the firmware and make my security setting ( 192.168.1.1 ) I get the linksys router page but it is not complete. There is no administration tab to click on which is what I need to upgrade the firmware

I put in the set up disc that came with the router but it knocked me offline when it got to the part where it was checking my computer settings and then said it could not connect to the internet

I have two PC's that connect to a Linksys WRT54G router.
One of the PC's was online and I think it got hacked.
The hacker got in through the wireless connection in the router.
I removed all PC's from connecting to the router and what I found is that the internet light flashes for traffic. Is this just standard internet traffic or is someone using the router? Is there anyway I can tell any IP addresses using the router?
Is DHCP more secure than static?
The safety measures I took was to enable the "Wireless MAC filter", which won't get me very far. Tomorrow I'm going to look at using WPA but I just wondered if anyone had any suggestions?

Thanks.

A:Linksys WRT54G security

Static is not necessarily more secure, but that way you can limit the range of PCs that can connect to only those that the router allows. The MAC-filter does the same, and is an extra security that you should definitely use.
You MUST activate the firewall in your router (if it has one) and set it to "Stealth" mode if possible. On top of that you need to install a software firewall on each PC, as well as AV-software.
Browse to www.grc.com and see how secure your PC is.

I have a win7 pc that has been using a linksys wrt54g router to an ISP cable modem. Has worked for about a year with no problems. Suddenly, my wifi has died. I cant connect through the linksys and I cant see wifi using my iphone.

I tried to connect to the router on ports 1-4 using the ip address 192.168.1.1 but all I get is "local area connection doesn't have a valid ip configuration"

So, do we think think the router has died? I tried to power it off and on and did the reset for 30 sec but still no help.

I also tried to connect straight to the router using my XP laptop but nothing...

Any ideas?

A:linksys wrt54g problems

I have the exact same router. I'm running 3 systems with Seven, one with XP, one with Vista, 3 iPod touch devices a Nintendo Wii and 2 networked printers. Zero problems. Most are on the WiFi, only my file server is direct-connect.

Sounds a little like the router has just crashed. Doesn't happen very often but it does happen. Try a hard-reset using the recessed reset button on the back. If, after that, you can't even connect to it with a cable directly then yeah ... yer probably looking at a dead unit.

Is 802.11g fast enough to stream IPTV? If yes, how?

Thanks all.

A:Linksys WRT54G & IPTV

802.11g has a nominal data transfer speed of 54Mbps, although in practice it is likely to be closer to 30Mbps. Unless you have an internet connection of 20Mbps or more, the limitations of 802.11g aren't going to impact on your internet download speeds.

In any case, you can test for your self by comparing performance with a "wired" ethernet connection to your router, which will run at 100Mbps.
