Service Pack installation failed with error code 0x800b0100.

Q: Service Pack installation failed with error code 0x800b0100.

OS is Win Home Prem -bit Cannot install SP and one of the Net updates KB and KB Get Error TRUST E NOSIGNATURE x b Have tried many of the suggs but can't seem to lick this After running SURT looking at the CheckSUR log it appears that a third KB is mucking it up KB Tried the sugg at How to fix errors found in the CheckSUR log dropping the appropriate msu KB WU file in the C Windows Temp CheckSUR Packages folder like it suggests and re-running SURT but the CheckSUR still indicates the same problems Saw on this forum where many have had success by someone issuing zipped packs but are specific to individual user's problems I assume the specificity of the fix has code Pack with Service installation error failed 0x800b0100. to do with what is in the zipped file Hoping I might be as lucky Have attached the latest CheckSUR log Also - not positive it's a client's machine but I believe this machine was in-place upgraded from Vista Home Prem to HP I think that may have something to do with it Shame on MS if that is the case Any assistance would be greatly HUGELY appreciated

Preferred Solution: Service Pack installation failed with error code 0x800b0100.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello pbowles3 and welcome to the forums

Was it my zip files that you saw by any chance? Yes, these issues are specific to the user that I'm helping. This should be a 5 minute job, but I've had all sorts of curveballs in the past.

Before we continue, I need to know whether the computer is x86 or x64?

Dropping the .msu file in that folder will do nothing whatsoever I'm afraid, it doesn't say to do that in the link that you provided either:

Just so I don't have to download it again:

I better not attempt the rest of this post in French as I'll probably tell you to do something wrong!

A:Service Pack 1 Error: Trust_E_NOSIGNATURE(0x800b0100)

Welcome to the forum.

It would be a good idea if you told the experts just what the name of this registry fixer is, it's never a good idea to use one Windows 7 is very capable of looking after the register itself.

It's possible the download was corrupted, please post back with as much information as possible about the problem like what happens after the download and why do you say it's not working, remember we can't see your machine so have no idea of what you have running or what it is you see.

Any assistance will be very greatly appreciated.

Yesterday I tried to install Service Pack 2 for 32bit Vista.

When restarting the screen freezes, showing the following message: !! 0xc0190036 !! 1707/69942 (WMIADAP.EXE)

I've tried running startup repair from a boot disk, but it runs forever (left overnight last time)

The boot disk's system restore doesn't work either - it runs forever on finalising files.

I can't run windows in safe mode either and unfortunately, this is where my rather limited technical expertise (and patience) end!

Is there anything that can be done!? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Based upon its spec's, although the upgrade to Windows 7 went without a hitch, could this computer be too underpowered for SP-1 to install? I've tried a half dozen times, even getting the download separately. Thanks for any help or info.

When I was installing Service Pack 1 onto my laptop, Windows 7, the charger was accidentally turned off, causing it to install incorrectly. Now, when I turn it on, I get

"Preparing to configure Windows . . .
Do not turn off your computer."

After a few minutes, this changes to

"Failure configuring Service Pack
Reverting changes . . .
Do not turn off your computer."

It then stays on this screen until turned off. I can get it running normally by starting in safe mode, going into Programs and Features and uninstalling Service Pack 1 on the list, and clicking restart now when prompted.

I've tried a few things to stop this happening, all unsuccessful. The update is KB976932. Any advice? And thanks in advance

Hello all,
I need assistance with the following situation.

Last night my computer went through installing new upgrades and when it had completed installing service pack 3, after restarting it said that the installation had not taken place, and it was reverting changes. All it has done since is turn itself off and restart to the same spot. I have run diagnostics and startup menu fixes and everything I could find. Nothing has worked, not even the restore to previous saved configurations. I looked into the details of the fix startup menu application and this is what I got:

Root cause found

No OS files found on disk
Repair action: Partition table repair
Results: Failed. Error code = 0x490
Time taken = 9438 ms

This was the last entry after all the other diagnostics in this tool had passed.
I would greatly appreciate any help you can provide me on this matter.

I tried the system update readiness tool as well but that just hung.  I had the computer previously cleaned in this forum, http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/476212/possible-spyware/.  I am not sure if some files were corrupted after the cleaning. I have taken the following steps to try and solve the issue but nothing has change:

1. Used update readiness tool for windows 7 for x64 based systems
2. Install Malwarebytes to get rid of any potential malware
3.Ran SFC/Scan

Thank you

Hi All,
I'm really in need of some help. I have been trying to re install autoCad 2013 for 2 days now and not getting anywhere. I have tried every possible solution and each one seem to be putting me in more trouble. I was having some issues with my computer and this cause autocad to be running very slowly. For this reason I uninstalled it, as well as everything on the computer that was associated with Autodesk (suggestion from a forum elsewhere). All the time, once the installation reached "6 remaining out of 13", the error 1:5 2: Failed to install/uninstall the anchor service 3.0 is displayed and whatever was done up to that point is reversed. The program then says "autoCad fail to install". Would you be kind enough to assist?

He is a copy of the log file. This might assist in diagnosing the problem:AutoCAD 2013 Setup.log

Hi kilakhan, if you are trying to restore your Vista PC from a factory image, you might want to take a look at the "Vista ISO download" thread in General Discussions forum before proceeding further. If you prefer doing it the hard way (maybe your factory image includes software that you want), I think the first thing you should do is run sfc /scannow from an elevated command prompt to see if there are any missing or corrupt system files and whether or not they can be repaired. It's actually not surprising that SP1 wouldn't install correctly via Windows Update (it happens quite regularly), but it does concern me that the standalone package gave you an error. Of course you could google "0x800B0100 vista sp1" or something along those lines to see what has been suggested in the past. BTW have any earlier updates failed?

Hello
I have a HP Compaq 6820s. My operating system is Windows Vista Home Basic (32-bit). I am trying to install Windows Vista service pack 1 on the system. I downloaded the the SP 1 installation program from the microsoft website and saved it to my desktop. When I try and install it I get the following error message:

error code: 0x800B0100
go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=101139

I followed the link in the error message to the microsoft site and downloaded and ran their The System Update Readiness Tool. Restarted my system and tried to run the SP 1 program but got the same error message.

I then disabled my anti-virus and again tried to run the SP 1 program with the same results.

Ultimately I want to install SP 2 but I believe that I have to install SP 1 first.

Can anyone help with this problem?

Thanks!

Hello Kauser, and welcome to Vista Forums.

I would start off with running sfc /scannow command instead to see if it may help.

System Files - SFC Command

However, with the 0x800B0100 error, you're most likely going to need to run the System Update Readiness Tool to try and fix it.

Error 0x800B0100 when you try to install Windows Updates or Microsoft Updates

Hope this helps,

I am having an issue installing one update (KB3072630) in particular on a user's PC. The PC is Windows 7 SP1 enterprise x64. Other updates have successfully installed as recently as yesterday (Sept. 3rd). The error code I am getting is 0x800b0100. So far
I have tried doing the following to fix the issue:
- running the update from windows update (we originally were deploying via sccm 2007)
- downloading the update and installing manually
- running microsoft fixit tools
- run system update readiness tool for windows 7
- run update diagnostic tools (which returned 2 errors - see screenshot)

I am all out of ideas and at this point and am hoping someone has some ideas on how to get this update installed.

Thanks,

Justin

Hello and welcome to the Forums , 3 years with this issue is way too long, have you tried this : https://support.microsoft.com/oas/de...&wfxredirect=1
You qualify for free support directly from Microsoft . This one user tried some suggestions here, vista sp1 error code 0x800B0100 - Microsoft Windows Vista Community Forums - Vistaheads and they did not work for that user, they finally told user to ask Microsoft directly for help. This must be a hard rascal to repair, have you tried to do a clean reinstall using your Vista dvd that came when you got the computer ? I am searching as i post and i just now found this : Error code 0x800B0100 when using Windows Update or Microsoft Update to install updates . Give this last one a read and see if that one works, from sep 2011 . Please post back results .

A:Service Pack failed to install

It's a Service Pack to the .NET 3.0 Framework. It won't install if you don't have Framework 3.0 installed. You can check it in Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel. Some programs may need this version installed to run correctly.

A:Framework + Service pack failed

Before you do any updates, you need to get SP1 installed.
Did you download it from here?
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=5842
Support for Windows 7 without a SP ended on April 9, 2013 so Windows Update, I suspect, will tell you there are no updates.

When you are ready to install, disable your security programs and remove the computer from the internet (if wired, pull the ethernet cable; if wireless turn off the wifi on the computer).

I have tried everything to try to download Service Pack 1.

I've ran a SFC Scan and it has not worked, it had said it could not have repaired the corrupted files of the computer, I have also renamed the SoftwareDistribution folder in the C: Drive. I have reseted the Windows update cache and still not working. I get an error code 8024200D every time I try to install it. I've tried to manually install it and still says the remote procedure call failed. I have also tried the System readiness and still has not fixed anything.

Thank you in advance.

The service pack still fails to install.

A:Windows 7 Service Pack 1 failed to install

After doing a quick google search, it appears to be a pretty generic error code.

Do you have any third party antivirus or firewall installed? If so try disabling those untill you get it to install. Remember to disable those services in the "services.msc" directory as they will re-enable at the next boot and could cause havoc with the install procedure.

Hey guys,
First of all, thank everyone for posting to this forum. I have found a lot of really helpful advice so far. Right now, however, I have not been able to diagnose and fix the problem I am currently having so I was hoping that someone could help me out. Basically my problem is that I have been able to install every update to Windows 7 up to Service Pack 1 which fails every time. I am pretty sure that I have tried everything I have read on here short of a clean reinstall, so I wanted to post first before I went to that. My error code screenshot and CBS files are attached. Thanks in advance for any help!

I am running Windows 7. For some reason the list of updates includes an update for Office XP Service Pack 3. However, this update always fails. Why does Windows 7 include an update for Office XP. All the other updates install fine.

A:Office XP Service Pack 3 Update Failed

Thats because your computer is likely set up for Microsoft update rather than plain windows updates.

Quote:
While Windows Update provides you with updates specifically for Windows, Microsoft Update expands the service to download and install updates for other Microsoft software, such as Microsoft Office and Windows Live. Automatic updating is a feature that allows you to set your PC to automatically download and install updates using either service, making it easy and convenient for you to keep your Windows PC current.

You can turn off office update listings by clicking on "Change settings" in the left panel on the Windows update page, then unchecking the box under the heading "Microsoft updates". Alternatively, you can just right click on the offered office update and hide it so it wont show up in the future.

I am trying to update my system to Windows XP service pack 3 but it has been going unsuccessful. I tried everything, I turned off my antivirus and firewall, I tried it in safe mode, I did it all, but it won't seem to work. I keep getting the message setup cannot copy the file dxmasf.dl, and also merlin.acs, and a few others. I tried updating directly through windows update, and through downloading from the microsoft website, saving the file and opening the next time, but all to no success. I have a 500gb hardrive and 2gb of ram so It's not a matter of enough space or not. Any suggestions? Thank you.

So I've got a Dell back my apartment that keeps looping because Service Pack Failed to install, it shuts down and reboots, and then it loops.

Even in Safe Mode, tried startup recovery to try a system restore, but that crashes and then the laptop shuts down afterwards.

Is there a fix? If, so what can I do fix this issue?

It's running Vista x86

I was installing the Windows Vista Service Pack 1 so that I can install office 2010. The installation seemed to fail and stall on a black screen with some text about the registry. I turned the computer off and took the battery out to make sure it was off. I waited 5 minutes and tried to boot up at that blue screen with the choice of "safe mode" and "recovery mode" etc. I tried all the options available and all have failed. I tried the Vista recovery disc and it failed to. I don't have a Vista installation disc and don't want to buy one. I do have a Windows XP installation disc. The question is: Can I install XP on my laptop over the Vista that is already installed? Please help me.

A:BSOD on Vista after Service Pack 1 failed to install

NOTE: I have severe eye problems. If I do not respond to your postings, please PM another staff member for assistance.

I suggest starting all troubleshooting with the following diagnostic tests (located at this link: Hardware Diagnostics ). They'll save you a lot of time and heartache if there is a hardware failure, and you'll have the disks on hand in case you need them in the future:

Quote:

H/W Diagnostics:
Please start by running these bootable hardware diagnostics:
Memory Diagnostics (read the details at the link)
Hard Drive Diagnostics (read the details at the link) - Test ALL of the hard drives.

Also, please run one of these free, independent online malware scans to ensure that your current protection hasn't been compromised: Free Online AntiMalware Resources (read the details at the link)
There are also free, bootable antivirus disks at this link: Free Online AntiMalware Resources - Bootable Disks

You can attempt to install XP on the system - but you have to have a valid product key for XP that will work with the XP installation disk. You will have problems with getting drivers, so you'll need another computer to communicate with us while trying to get all the drivers (there is guarantee that you'll be able to get all the drivers that you'll need).

Start with the diagnostics above, that'll tell you if the system is sound enough to install Windows

Did you try to install SP3 with Spybot, or some other AV/AS software that has "real time protection", where it "protects" the registry from sometimes legitimate changes, such as installing SP3 ?

I'd try to reinstall SP3 from Selective Startup. And I'd bypass Windows Update, and use the standalone version available here.

Navigate Start>Run>(type)"MSCONFIG" and turn off all the Startups, and all the non-MS Services. Reboot, and then try running the above SP3 package.

Report status of SP3, as well as your sound issues.

If the file is too large (8MB compressed), remove the older CBSPersist cab files until the final file is below the limit - you can always post them separately after zipping them. (the forum doesn't allow the upload of bare CAB files, for a number of reasons)

I recently tried to download Service Pack 1 for Windows 7. The download was taking a horrendous amount of time, and the download was seemingly stuck at 24%. I stopped the download and restarted the machine. When the system was shutting down, it brought up the "Preparing to configure Windows: Do not turn off the machine." screen. This struck me as odd as the download for SP1 wasn't finished, so in my eyes there was nothing to configure. After about 30 minutes of being at this screen with no change, I initiated a hard reboot and booted Windows normally. When the machine booted again, it briefly was at the "Preparing to configure Windows screen" before continuing. The system booted sluggishly and Windows explorer stopped working and restarted itself. Everything appears to be normal, yet I can't shake the fact that I may have messed some things up. What do you make of the situation?

A:Service Pack 1 Installation problem.

You could boot into safe mode, use arrow keys to move up to Last Known Good Configuration choice, click enter.
After the computer starts, go into your system restore, disable it, reboot the computer then set a new system restore point to work from..
Good luck.

When Windows (XP) automatic update prompted me to install Service Pack 2 in my Compaq Presario (1200 mhz Intel celeron with 512 RAM) computer I said OK. It installed the Pack and then asked my permission to restart the computer to finish the installation. I said yes. But it stopped in the middle when restarting with error message saying that it could not restart because of some software OR hardware problem and gave me option to start the computer in SAFE mode to fix the problem. So I started the computer in safe mode and uninstalled the Service Pack 2. But the same problem remained with exactly the same message! Again I started in safe mode and used RESTORE with different dates and it says ?cannot be restored? every time. What do I do now?
I request you kind advice to solve this problem.

All for an iPod.

Here's how the trail of destruction goes.

Win an iPod. Every other USB device works on the computer except the iPod.
It recommends USB 2.0 which I know I don't have but I thought recommend meant just that, and not MUST HAVE.

Buy a USB 2.0 card.
Install drivers and it says I need Windows XP sp1.

Download windows SP1a and I get the following error that says

"c:\windows\system32\oobe\phone.obe is being used by another program"

How do I find out what program is using the phone.obe file?

I can't even delete this file as it gives me a cyclic redundancy error.

All I want to do is get the damn iPod working and this has turned into a nightmare.

Anyhelp that can be offered would be appreciated.

Hi All,

I am new in this forum.

While install Windows XP Service Pack 2, I had got some problem. Some of the PCs will hang while "Perform Cleaning Up" process. Try Ctrl+Alt+Del can terminate the process, but I think it is not a good way. Did anyone know that it was Service Pack 2 common issue or hardware / software problem? And is there any solution can fix it out?

Many thanks,
Dijon

A:Windows XP Service Pack 2 installation problem.

So you stoped the service pack from doing a cleanup prosess. This does not clean you computer it cleans up what items its used during the prosess. If you just install the Service Pack again it will not affect your computer apart from making it run better. it will NOT affect your files or how you run it.

I just finished the service pack 1 install and my screen in frozen. I'm using my second junk computer with xp to write, THE-WAZ

A:Re: Windows 7 Service Pack 1 installation problem

I moved your post to it's own thread.

Where is the screen frozen at? Was the computer able to successfully boot fully into Windows before freezing?

Hello I tried to install service pack 1 on my windows 7 64 bit system but it failed to configure correctly. Now it has been stuck with the message "Failure configuring Service Pack, Reverting changes" for several hours with no sign of progress. I got so fed up I turned the computer on and off but it just returns to the same state. I can boot it in safe mode and access my files that way, but is there anything I can do to prevent my computer getting stuck in this state again when booted normally? Thankyou.

A:Windows 7 Service Pack 1 Installation Problems

Boot into SAFEMODE and run System Restore -
START | type rstrui

When back into normal Windows, run --> http://support.microsoft.com/kb/947821

Go through checklist; same for Windows 7 SP1 - Vista SP1/ SP2 Prepwork - sysnative.com - MVP

Hi .<<The installation seems to load ok but stalls when running progams afer installation and won't complete.>>The install either completes (system reboots) or it doesn't complete...it cannot do both. Which is it?Start/My Computer/Properties...what level is displayed on the General tab?Did you consult the following link?http://support.dell.com/support/topics/glo...;l=en&s=genLouis

I don't beleive I have that TV media thing. From my automatic updates, i got a prompt to update to service pack 2. I installed it and all and then told me to reboot, but when I reboot I get these errors:

(services.exe - Application error) The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000005) click on OK to terminate the application.

(lsass.exe) The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000005) click on OK to terminate the application.

I could not even turn it on with safe mode. I always got this message. I had to boot form cd, delete the c drive partition, and reinstall windows. I just want to know what the cause of this problem is, im not really sure wut the TV Media thing is.

A:XP Service Pack 2 installation crashed computer.

since you reformatted, is your computer fixed now? the problem could be a hardware driver and SP2 incompatibility. you can try search for the error and see what comes up. www.google.com

I have a Dell 2350 Pentium4 1.8 gig Running WinXP Servicepack 1

When trying to install service pack2 thru automatic updates, the installation seems to be going fine. Then, while copying new files to the computer (after backing up and setting a restore point) I get a message that says "Generic host proces for Win32 Services encountered a problem and needs to close".
The file copying continues in the backround. The standard message asks if I want to send the error to Microsoft. I send it and the file copying continues. After five more minutes copying files an error message pops up:"Access is denied". The system requires a click on "OK" and the old system is restored. I have tried to install several times with the same results.

Does anyone have some suggestions?
Thanks.

Hi There

Hope you can help

After being prompted, I installed Service Pack 2 for Vista 64 bit Home Premium Edition yesterday.

Since then I have noticed that my Internet Browser in particular is crawling along at a snails pace. In some cases it fails to load pages at all and with other it just takes five times as long as it used to.

I use Google Chrome yet tried out IE9 again to see if there was a problem with Chrome... same problem.

No idea where to start to sort it out and would value any help from the experts.

Kind regards and Happy Christmas to all
