I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi,

I've got a Win 7 pro 64 bit SP1 machine on a domain, pointing to a local WSUS server which has stopped installing updates. The update gets to the point in the progress bar where it should be installed but then returns failed with 80070643 & 80071A91 error codes. Currently there are 45 updates outstanding. All other machines on the domain receive and apply updates successfully.

If I try to apply updates 1 by 1, I get a mixture of the errors already stated depending on the update i'm applying.

I've run chkdsk & sfc /scannow.

SURT has been run.

Updates still coming back with the same error.

CBS log is 185Mb, so even zipped to large to attach, CheckSUR is reporting no errors detected.

Anti-Virus is: Sophos Endpoint 10.3

If anyone can help it would be massively appreciated!

Thanks,
Jack

I am getting an update error 80070643

Updates not installed Update for Windows (KB2859903)

Also 2 net framework updates. I downloaded the first net framework update and tried to install, and I got a pop up telling me that "this update is not applicable to your computer". So why then does it appear as an important update? This appears to be a Microsoft screw up.

I am trying to update 4 identical PC's. They are Win 7 x64 Home Premium.

I am getting the following error on ALL the pc's -- they haven't been updated since February, 2010. Code 80070643. The second error in the pic is new, but the 0643 error occurs on them all.

Looking up the error, i found an MS support article saying its related to .net framework. I tried the few solutions on there and it didn't fix it.

I tried the Windows Update reset solutions on this forum as well as the MS Fix it tool. Neither fixed the issue.

Any further advice?

Hi Ross,

Thank you for the reply.

This issue can be related to the corrupt Office program. From the System Information, I noticed that Microsoft Office still appears on your Start Menu/All Programs.

Currently, I suggest removing the Office program in Control Panel\Programs and Features. If the Office program still cannot be completely removed, please consult the resolution in our Office public newsgroup. Thank you for your understanding.

http://www.microsoft.com/technet/community/newsgroups/desktoppt/office.mspx

In addition, this issue can be usually caused by anti-virus programs or firewalls. Please temporarily remove all your anti-virus programs and firewalls such as COMODO and avast!.

Hope it helps.

Hi,
there seem to be a couple of posts about this already, but all seemed slightly different to mine.
i noticed that was an issue when i started my laptop this morning & had an error message for iTunes. I tried to check that out but Chrome wasn't starting up.
When i used IE to check, they said generally the error i got was due to windows updates failing, and sure enough i got one.
i've tried a few things from various bits of advice, starting in a clean boot, repairing my .NET (framework 4). I also tried the little FixIt program for updates.
nothing working.
I do have other errors in the update history, but this was the fisrt (17/09/11), and is still there. any advise please?

I get this error code when I try to install Windows Update. I believe it does this because it is trying to install updates for programs for Microsoft Office when I have already erased it from my computer.
I know I could just ignore those updates but I really want it to say I have 0 updates so I can make a new system restore point because my Windows Update hasn't been working for a long time but I finally fixed it and it would've been fixed if I had made a system restore point when I first got my laptop.

Got this in my Win - system when applying the Office SP update The error code suggests some unspecified problem with NET and points to a FixIt routine to fix it The FixIt routine did not fix it becuase I got the same error after running it Code Error Update Windows 80070643 The second recommendation is to do a Windows Update Error Code 80070643 repair on Net Framework Client Profile But my system does not have that The third recommendation is to repair Net Framework which my system does have This said to run the Net Framework Cleanup tool which I did but this also failed to complete normally It also suggested getting the complete Net Framework and installers and running them That's what I'm about to do Well the Net Framework and installers were the same so I ran one of them and it completed OK When I tried to run the installer nothing happened - no messages no dialogs NADA So I tried to run the Office SP update again and of course it failed with the same error So this time I tried running the Windows Update Troubleshooter This ran OK but said it was not able to fix the Update problem It did say it fixed several other things though I rebooted and tried the Office SP update again It failed with the same error Just for the fun of it I downloaded and installed Net Framework since many of the posts and there are a lot of them about this error mention that installed OK and did not ask for a reboot so I tried the SP update again It failed with the same error I give up

Hi,

I successfully installed all the important updates a couple of days ago but I cannot get PowerPoint 2007 (KB2464594) to install. Every time I try it creates a restore point, says it is installing then says that it failed and I get the error code 80070643.

I followed the advice in the Windows Help and Support and made sure my OSE was not disabled but it still fails. I am using Microsoft Office 2010, if that makes any difference.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hi I presented this Windows Update problem error code to the forum about months ago and at that W7 failure error code Update 80070643 loop, time I decided to reinstall W as it was the least complex option The problem I have is a Windows Update failure loop which leads to the failure of all subsequent Windows Updates and also disables System Restore and W7 Update failure loop, error code 80070643 the update failure always starts with the NET Framework update When this problem started it occurred every months so I had no major issues reinstalling W7 Update failure loop, error code 80070643 just to correct it Now it is occurring every months making re-installation unsustainable My question is this Microsoft kb states that an MSI fix Microsoft Fixit should be used first to try to resolve the issue When I tried to run it I got the message Windows Installer this action is only valid for products that are currently installed Visiting Microsoft Help for more info about the Fixit there was this System Tip - This article applies to a different version of Windows than the one you are using Content in this article may not be relevant to you Visit the Windows Solutions Center Even though there is an MSI DLL file in W system does that mean I do not need this Fixit at all If so I can then go ahead and try the uninstall reinstall the NET Framework secure in the knowledge that I did not miss one important step i e the MSI Fixit Thanks

A:W7 Update failure loop, error code 80070643

The type of error message you got often means that you've downloaded the wrong bitness of installer - however, I do mot think that's the case here (as far as I know, there is only one Fixit50123 file)
What I suspect is that there is a failure in dll registration somewhere - and you need to fix that before attempting anything else.
Are you seeing any other symptoms, besides Windows Updates problems?
try this KB article - How do I reset Windows Update components? use the fixit from that and see if it helps (or gives the same message!)

Here is the requested log info for my Windows Update Error Code 80070643:

1. CBS.zip: the logs after running the SURT tool. This routine ran in just a few minutes and asked to install HotFix KB94781. It said the installation was completed OK.

2. SFC.log.zip : the CBS.log file after running SFC /scannow. This said it found some corrupt files but could not fix them all. Note that a long time ago I deleted the standard/sample media files (photos & music) that get installed with Win7.

3. Capture.JPG: screenshot of the the error messages I get when trying to install the Office 2010 SP2 update. Note that I did reboot just before running this update.

I'm still considering de-installing Office 2010 and then re-installing from an updated SP2 download - if I can find that. My concern is what imapact doing this will have on the sieze of WINSXS & INstaller folders.

Hi guys along with my bsod 0x93 problem ive been getting recently some windows updates errors please help me! https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B6z...ew?usp=sharing

A:Windows Update error codes 80070643 and 80071A91.

I suspect that your WU problems will have to wait, until your BSOD problems are solved - but I'll take a look and see if there's anything that relates which may be causing your BSODs and see if we can fix that.

Edit - now I've got the logs downloaded!
There's no significant errors in the CBS.log background - and both SFC and CheckSUR are clear.
I', not sure I can do anything that'll help your BSOD problems, and I think WU should wait until that's cured.

Hello,

I received updates today and one was for a Power Point 2007 (KB2464594) security issue. I've rolled my system back (RollBackRx) and still can't get this update to install. I've read what I've found and none of it has been helpful. I understand this is a general error but have no idea how to get it to load. All other updates install with no problem.

I have Office 2010 (but did update from 2007) months ago. Using Win 7(64) Home Premium.

Any simple help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

A:Error Code 80070643 Powerpoint (KB2464594) update failes

Hello,

I'm facing the same problem. I run the Spanish version of Windows 64 Home Basic, and my system shows an available update for PowerPoint 2007. I run Office 2010 (but also did upgrade from 2007).

In the end, the system shows error 80070643 ,saying "Windows Update found an unkown error" (translated from the original message in Spanish). There's also a link for more info. This link takes me to a help page, where error number 80070643 seems to be related to a problem error on the .NET framework installed in the local computer.

I don't know if I should re-install .NET Framework or should I ignore this update as I don't run PowerPoint 2007. However I don't know how to remove the update, for the system not to show it as an available update.

I am trying to rectify the error with windows perform 80070643, update to or system unable Code restore Error update Everytime I try to update it tells me it is checking for updates Then quot To check for updates you must first install an update for Windows Update Your automatic Updating settings will not change quot I click Install now and get quot Window could not search for new updates quot An error occured while checking for new updates for your computer Error s Found Code Windows Update encountered an unknown Error Code 80070643, unable to update or perform system restore error This problem first came to light a year ago when I downloaded a windows update that was corrupt It forced the computer to loop the autocheck upon boot and could only be started in Error Code 80070643, unable to update or perform system restore safe mode or by canelling the check After looking through the forums I found an interim fix which disabled the autocheck and since have always recieved the message upon restarting quot Autocheck program not found quot I naturally thought this issue would be resovled in the next update and or a future fix I had to go away for work at the start of this year and when I got back and windows updated it still had the autocheck message Recently I have been unable to update at all due to the aforementioned error The simplest soultion it would seem would be to do a system restore this I have tried however every possible point seems to have a corrupt file on it I ran a scan using Malwarebytes and found nothing I don't want to format as the programs came pre installed and that would mean taking to back to the shop Any help would be appreciated

A:Multiple Update Failures / Win7 x64 - Unable to Update, Error 800b010

From the SFC report, it looks like it found a couple of errors in the .NET 3.5 installation - and fixed them (together with a faulty bmp file)
Have you also run a CHKDSK? - often a random error can indicat file system problems, so it would be worth running CHKDSK C: /R and seeing if that helps.

Niemiro hopefully will be around later to assist - but there's nothing in your reports that suggests anything specific he can do.s

I have been having Windows 7 update problems for several months.Primarily out of stubbornness I was determined to find the solution on my own.As a result of my arrogance I have spent countless hours trying every fix I can find on Microsoft as well as various online resources. All to no avail. So today I am reaching out for help.My goal of course is to get this machine to update but also to migrate it to Windows 10 at some point.

I do have a couple of questions about this process. First,I copied the CBS folder and zipped it but the file size is still a whopping 344mb.How do I get it to the required 8mb size?
Second,I have a screenshot of failed updates from several days ago-is that OK to post?
Thank you

Please follow the Windows Update Posting Instructions and post the requested data

If the file is too large (8MB compressed), remove the older CBSPersist cab files until the final file is below the limit - you can always post them separately after zipping them. (the forum doesn't allow the upload of bare CAB files, for a number of reasons)

Please also post the C:\Windows\windowsudpate.log file

Twelve Windows Updates are failing with error codes: 80070643, 800B0100, and 9C59.

I've tried several supported Microsoft fixes without success (System Update Readiness Tool, Windows Update troubleshooter, etc.).

I noticed it's trying to install IE 9,10, and 11 simultaneously, so I've tried each individually which also fails.

I uninstalled/reinstalled .NET 3 and 4.

Attached are WindowsUpdate.log, a picture of the applicable updates, and my zipped CBS folder (created after running sfc /scannow, which reported some corrupt files that couldn't be fixed).

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you.

Hey all,

I am experiencing error 8007000E when attempting to run windows update on a fresh install of Win7 32 Pro. I will attempt to list the steps I followed in your thread and the results.

1. Installed a fresh copy of Win7 32 Pro on a clean partition

2. Acivated the copy of Win 7

3. Installed the NIC drivers

4. Installed and ran SURT
- SURT installed KB947821

5. Ran SFC /scannow
-No problems found

6. Ran windows update
- It installed "new windows update" and restarted the PC

7. Ran Windows update again and received error 8007000E

I've attached the CBS log file as requested. Thanks for any assistance you can provide :0)

hi folks. for the life of me i cant get windows update to run.it keeps hitting this unknown error.ive tried to fix this myself but my knowledge is very limited and i cant do it.ive searched the windows database to try and find out exactly what this error means but as far as i can tell its not even listed anywhere. ive only had this laptop a few days, bought it 2nd hand so i dont know if this problem existed for the last owner as well. i thought a sysytem restore might do it but there are only 2 restore points available, both created while this problem was evident. anyway,id be most greatfull of any help offered.thankyou!

the message i get after update check runs for 2 seconds is:

an error occured while checking for new updates. error code:80070005 windows encountered an unknown error.

As your running a VMK, using this key on an Enterpise W7
KDBFG-HFG3C-283W4-WGGWG-82GRP,

I suspect MS has blocked it.
It can only be used on a specific number of computers, and as its widely published on the net i suspect that that number has been exceeded.

You will need to contact either your Company or College to get a new key

Hi all,

Need help here. Was trying to fix win7 update error 80070013, and pasted some commands into cmd shell from a webpage that I cannot now find to reverse the process. End result is that neither my quick launch icons, my desktop icons nor any of my start menu items will open any programs. All the icons are blank. The only way i can start a program is to go to the networking icon in control panel, and navigate to program.exe files on my c: drive to start anything.

I have tried everything-rebuilding icon lists, restarting explorer.exe, etc. etc. and no luck. Feeling pretty stupid here.......

any help appreciated,

Fugue

Hello and welcome to the SevenForums!

Excellent work by yourself! Really excellent! This has also allowed me to miss out all of the normal stuff, and skip straight to a fix designed specifically for your computer!

WARNING! This fix was created specifically for this user! If you are not this user, do not follow these instructions!
@CoolStory: Ignore the above

Download the attached .zip file. Inside it, will be two folders, Packages and Manifests.

Create these folders if they do not already exist: C:\Windows\Temp\CheckSur\Servicing\Packages\ and C:\Windows\Temp\CheckSur\Servicing\Manifests

Extract Packs.zip onto your Desktop. Please place the contents of my Desktop\Packages in C:\Windows\Temp\CheckSur\Servicing\Packages\ and my Desktop\Manifests in C:\Windows\Temp\CheckSur\Servicing\Manifests.

DO NOT place the .zip file in that folder, or the folders themselves. Make sure that a lot of files are in each of those Checksur folder.

Re-run the System Update Readiness Tool, and get me another copy of C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CheckSUR.log.

Also, please retest Windows Updates (with fingers slightly crossed, no matter how much we both know that that won't help! lol.)

Thanks!

Richard

HI all,

Just registered after seeing a similar thread on here to the issue I have.

I have a laptop with 7 Home premium 64 bit SP1 that is up to date with the exception of an IE9 update that refuses to install at all.

Have tried various different methods but to no avail including attempting to remove IE9 and then try a reinstall.

Uninstall hasn't been possible. Any help would be much appreciated.

A:Win7 64 Update failed Error 9C48

Hello adz76 and welcome to the forums

I've never seen a 9C48 error code from these problems before! Thank you for all of the logs, they are very helpful.

Windows Update Package Replacement

Warning: this fix is specific to the user in this thread. No one else should follow these instructions as it may cause more harm than good. If you are after assistance, please start a thread of your own.

Please download the attached file, Packs.zip and save this to your Desktop.
Right-click on the file and select Extract All...
Tick the box labelled Show extracted files when complete then click Extract
A window will open showing two folders, Manifests and Packages
Open the Manifests folder and copy the files into the following folder (if there are any files)

C:\Windows\Temp\CheckSur\Winsxs\Manifests

Open the Packages folder and copy the files into the following folder (if there are any files)

C:\Windows\Temp\CheckSur\Servicing\Packages

Run the System Update Readiness Tool (SURT) again
When the SURT finishes installing, copy (Ctrl + C) and paste (Ctrl + V) the contents of the SURT log into your next post please:

C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CheckSUR.persist.log
You will probably be shown the error code 0x8024200D after performing this fix, if so, please download and install the update from this link. It must be downloaded using Internet Explorer.

Download Cumulative Security Update for Internet Explorer 9 in Windows 7 x64 Edition (KB2675157) from Official Microsoft Download Center

If you aren't shown an 8024200D, please let me know - it isn't an issue, I would just like to know for future reference.

Hello,

I have an ASUS laptop that used to have Win7 Premium Home Edition SP1 installed. It came pre-installed with the OS, and the HDD had 2 partitions. I decided to re-install the OS clean.
I first removed the 2 partitions and created a single big one.
Then I installed Win7 after formatting the partition.
Everything went well until I tried to do a Windows Update that didn't seem to go through.
I even ran the Microsoft Diagnostic tool which gave me error 0x8024402c.

I have tried many websites & forums' suggestions, even reinstalled the OS several times, even installed another flavor of Win7. Same issue.

I am attaching the logs in case you can find the culprit.

Thanks in advance for your help!

My last thread http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums//thread.jspa?threadID=70485 go locked before I had a chance to add something, hopefully I'll not upset the Mods by bringing this up again.

Anyway, after installing the new version 6 bios I was able to install TVAP 1.2.40 successfully. I only installed, utilities, power save & button support. Now when I press the Fn button I get a sort of task bar appear at the top of the screen detailing what all the function buttons do. When I adjust the screen it tells me what level I'm at.

Well pleased with the result, thanks for the advice all.

Hi folks

I found my way here after being unable to update to IE10 on Windows 7 (32)

the windows update error is:

"Internet Explorer 10 for Windows 7
Installation date: ‎09/‎05/‎2013 10:22 AM
Installation status: Failed
Error details: Code 9C59
Update type: Optional"

I have attached the CBS.zip file. (NB: when I pasted the copy of CBS folder to my desktop I got an error message that access to CBS.log was denied. Maybe this is normal?)

I'd be most grateful for any help you can give.

Regards

Chris

A:Windows update fails for IE10 on Win7 error code 9C59

the copy/paste problem is common - which is one reason why I tend to prefer just collecting the CBS.log file on its own.
Copy the C:\Windows\logs\CBS\CBS.log file to your desktop, and compress it, then upload that.

Hi Folks,

My Windows 7 home premium 64bit SP1 has failed to update since 2012. Every time I tried, the system update ended up with error code 8007370B: Windows Update encountered an unknown error.

I have followed the steps at

Windows Update Posting Instructions

and installed the SURT.

It installed correctly but did not solve the problem, still the same error code: 8007370B.

I have also tried running sfc /scannow in an elevated cmd, but it failed with the following output:C:\windows\system32>sfc /scannow

Beginning system scan. This process will take some time.

Windows Resource Protection could not perform the requested operation.

Attached is my CBS.zip and windows update error screenshot. I want to point out that I have installed several versions of SURT from 2012 till now, none of which fixed the problem, but may have generated some logs to CBS.

Thanks for any possible solutions.

See if you could use SFC /scannow during boot

Greetings!
I have an Optiplex 9010 AIO. This morning I was trying to update the BIOS of my system, from A10 to A13. During the update process it showed an error: "ME FW Update Failed: Internal error: FWU_Buffer " - please see the photo below. Although the update failed on the Management Engine part, it still boots up and running OK. I tried couple of times to update the BIOS, and each time I got the same error. I tried to flash the A12 and A11 BIOS as well, A12 gives same error, and A11 has the same Management Engine version hence no use.
Any help on this is very much appreciated!

Windows update for IE10 on Windows 7 64bit fails continuously with error code 9c59. I tried the stand alone updater with the same results. All other windows updates complete successfully, it's just IE10 that continually fails.

Don't know if this is related but I do have problems with IE8 (current browser). After a while, an open IE window will become non responsive and can't be closed out. I have to use task manager to close it down. I have sent off the reports to MS, but no solution has appeared.

I've attached the cbs file. Let me know what else I can do. Thanks.

A:Windows update for IE10 on win7 64bit fails with error code 9c59

There are no significant file errors in either SFC or CheckSUR logs.

In these cases, it has sometimes been a solution to uninstall IE9, reboot a couple of times, and then reinstall IE9 again, before installing IE10 successfully.
It's worth a try

A:Win7 boot manager raises error: winload.exe 0xc0000098 after Windows Update

Sounds like one of the boot drives has failed. If you can get into the Control Panel while in the Safe mode, try changing the OS boot order in SYSTEM, Advanced System Settings, Settings

We couldn't install Windows 10
0xC1900101 - 0x40017
We've set you PC back to where it was right before you started installing Windows 10
The installation failed in the SECOND_BOOT phase with an error during BOOT operation
What was tried: Connected straight to ethernet, Turned off wireless and Defender A/V, Removing the D/L files, D/L fresh from ISO file, launched install file, went through approx 50% and PC rebooted - nor stuck on black screen with swirling dots for OVER 4 hours with a brief HD access every couple of seconds.
Rebooted again -- still swirling dots on black screen. Tried again, same results.
Rebooted with F8 to get original Win 10 back.
Turned on "metered connection" option for WLAN to stop this update from happening. But now I cannot get and security updates for this machine.
Please suspend this D/L until fixed. Cannot afford to have no protection!

Hey all,

So I am currently reinstalling Windows on my dad's old laptop after the hard drive decided up die on us, and I stumbled on a problem that's a bit too hard for me to fix.

Namely, I am completely unable to install any Windows Update. Not even MSE will install.

I tried running SURT, but got error code 0x8000247
I also tried running SFC /SCANNOW, it ran the verification fase until 98% and then stated that there where unfixable problems.

The displayed error codes are:
In WU: "8024A000"
In SURT: "0x8000247"
Whilst installing MSE: "0x80070643".

Attached you will find CBS.log and MSINFO with my system specs.
Cheers and many thanks in advance,
Nommy

CBS.log MSINFO32.nfo

A:Windows Update error code 8024A000; unable to install any update.

That's very reminiscent of similar errors in Win7 - and I wouldn't be surprised to see it being non-genuine.
Please post an MGADiag report BEFORE doing the below potential fixes.

This may simply be caused by a bad set of Intel Storage Matrix Technology drivers -

Installing the Intel Drivers
try downloading and installing them from here -
https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Det...&DwnldID=17882

(IATA89ENU.exe)

Once complete, please reboot twice, then post another MGADiag report.

If nothing has changed, try this...

Please run the following commands in an Elevated Command Prompt

NET STOP CRYPTSVC
REN C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CATROOT2 CATROOT2OLD
NET START CRYPTSVC

once complete, leave the system alone for at least an hour to rebuild the database, then reboot, and run another MGADiag report and post the results.

If neither of them work, we'll re-evaluate.

I'm having no luck installing KB2977629 (Cumulative Security Update IE11). I repeatedly get the error 8007371B.

SURT installs with no errors. SFC /SCANNOW runs with no errors. I am uploading the requested screenshots and ZIP file.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you!!!!

PS- well, I WAS uploading. My screencaptures upload great, but my CBS.zip fails with "Server error 500".
My zip file is 9.6mb-- over the 8mb limit. What can I delete from the directory to get under the 8mb limit?

Hey,

I'm trying to install update KB976932 (Windows Service pack 1 for 64bit) and KB982526 (Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 SP1) but I keep getting error 800b100 which stops me from doing so.

I've tried deactivating my firewall; manually installing from the microsoft website; and using the system readiness tool but I keep getting the same error

I've attached log files and I believe some files are corrupt. How can I replace them?
Can anyone please help me out?

Thanks.

Hello,

I recieve error C80003FA whenever I do a Windows Update run. It doesn't get past the stage of checking for updates.

I've tried several fixes including:
- Waiting 15 minutes and running Windows Update again.
- Letting Windows Update run on its own schedule.
- SFC /Scannow
- Renaming the Catroot2 Folder.
- Running 3 different Fixit tools.
- Clean windows install.

After each and every one of those fixes I've tried windows update and I still get error C80003FA.

SFC Scannow has previously said no errors, but the last run through it said there were unfixable errors. I've got the log, though for brevity's sake I will keep it until someone asks for it.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

First, excuse my english, I'm trying my best.

I get error C80003FA whenever I do a Windows Update run.

I did the Windows Update Posting instructions. When I did the SURT installation, it didn't finish and I had to reboot the PC. Then it work.

I've tried sfc /scannow several times before with different results: sometimes finished with no errors, sometimes finish with unfixable errors and sometimes didn't finish at all.

I uploaded the CBS.zip

Hope you can help me, thanks.

There are no errors in any of the posted logs
Please post the C:\WIndows\windowsupdate.log file.

Please also post the event logs...

Open Event Viewer
click on the Windows logs entry in the left pane to expand it.
Now click on the Application entry - wait while it loads.
Click on 'File' in the menu bar and select Save...

Save the file as Appevt.evtx

Repeat for the System log

then zip both, and upload them.

I didn't see any posts about this, so I hope I am not double posting.

After removing a drive load of viruses, I am still not able to update Windows Vista to Service Pack 1. I have even tried to create a new admin user account in hopes that this would work, but no go. I tried running sfc.exe / scannow from the CMD and it did report that it was unable to repair wextract.exe. Also, the file reportingevents.txt located in %system root%\windows\softwaredistribution\reportingevents.txt lists "Windows Update Client failed to detect with error 0x80070490".
Although, I think Windows Defender can update. I need to take a break.

Every time I want to update windows, it comes up with this error code - 80090305 Every time I try to update windows defender, it comes up with this error code - 0x80090305 I can't update either! I've looked for solutions online -everywhere- nothing works. I checked what the Microsoft website said, but that didn't help either! I really think I should get these updates, and I'm tired of it popping up and telling me that it can't update. The computer is an Acer (I don't know the exact model, I trying to fix my friends computer and I'll be back there tomorrow.) Anyway, help would be amazing. Hello this is a strange problem to even describe. I have windows 7 and was updating it, but there seems to have been a problem in the update. Windows will start but even when I enter safe mode the problem remains. The problem is many fold, first writing from the "windows" parts, icons and letters in general don't show. In addition things like the "start menu" don't work. When you right click on something to bring up a menu it warps it into a long rectangle going from the top to the bottom of the screen and shows nothing in it. System restore through the normal means just isn't possible even in safe mode where the problems are the same. Is there some way to restore the system from the bios in windows 7 or some other option?

Hi Experts,

After MS Office 2007 update KB2596787 failed I found some HD problems with chkdsk. I believe there are some corrupted system files. I wonder if some kind soul could advise how to repair i.e. which specific files and where to get them from?

Logs/screenshots attached.

Many thanks.
