Windows 7 Home Premium Installation SP1 Fails Error Code:8024200D

Q: Windows 7 Home Premium Installation SP1 Fails Error Code:8024200D

Following the Windows Update Posting Instructions I have met a difficulty in that I see the maximum zip file upload is limited to 8MB. My CBS.zip file is 27.2MB and I would appreciate advice of any steps I should take before proceeding further.

I have installed the System Update Readiness Tool and the installation of KB976932 fails with the display of error code: 8024200D.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

While updating HP Active Support Library in windows vista home premium it downloads and checks for space allocation and then gives me Error 1316.A network error while attempting to read from file c:\windows\installer\HP active support library.msi Then after the rolling back action I receive Error-1603-Fatal-error during installation consult windows installer help (msi.chm) or msdn for more information. I have tried to go to the latter but have been unsuccessful in eliminating this problem. Is there anything that can be done short of restoring my laptop back to its original out of the box settings?

Since July 16 failed the Windows update.
Every day Windows attempts to install updates every day it fails.
Error code is 80073701.

CBS.zip is too large, therefore, via this link:

I have added a copy of the update history.
It's in Dutch:

One of your problems is likely to be the number of Language packs you have installed.
MS recommend a maximum of 10 MUI Language packs be installed.

You have a large number of Missing Component Keys - I'm not an expert on these, so I'm going to call in the cavalry for this one.

I have done a Google search and been the the Microsoft site. I have tried every suggestion: clean boot, MS Update Readiness Program, MS Fix-it Program, Update Reset, disabling my AV and Firewall, Manual and Automatic Update but nothing allows me to update KB2484033, KB2511250, or KB2522422. I have tried 3rd party programs to include: HijackThis, MT RUbot, ComboFix, and FixCleaner and they haven't helped. I have Spybot, McAffee, MS Defender, and I use Windows Firewall. All of these are current and update with no problem.

Can anyone help with this problem.

TIA

Just as an aside, both Windows Defender and ALL McAfee products are, in my opinion, worthless. I'd disable Defender (set the Windows Defender service to DISABLED) and uninstall any McAfee product and replace it with ANY other anti virus app.

As for the updates, try system restore to a time before the updates and try again.

Never run two AV's, especially when one is Norton Bloatware.

I would uninstall both as a test and install recommended Microsoft Security Essentials.

You'll need to run the special uninstall tool for grossly bloated AV's: Uninstallers (removal tools) for common Windows antivirus software - ESET Knowledgebase

If this fails then try to System Restore back to before you installed the two AV's when it was working correctly.

If that fails then download, install and decline trial for Malwarebytes and SUPERAntiSpyware - Downloads
then run full scans with both.

Folllow that with SFC /SCANNOW Command.

Report back all results.

Then look over the steps for doing a perfect Clean Reinstall Windows 7 which includes everything that works best with Win7 based on tens of thousands of installs we've directly helped with here at the top tech forums.

Hi,

So I'm trying to install Windows 7 on my notebook through a USB boot but I keep getting the ?Setup was unable to create a new system partition or locate an existing system partition.? error no matter what I try. I've read other threads in hopes of getting help but nothing seems to work for me. My notebook has no CD/DVD drive so I've been using a USB flash drive boot which I created using bootcamp on my macbook pro.

Here is are screenshots of where I'm stuck, disk part and details of disk 0 (HDD):

My notebook has no OS now so I'd really like to get this fixed!

A:Windows 7 Home Premium installation error with system partition

Hello emsetsfire, welcome to Seven Forums!

Have a look through the information below for some additional ideas and be sure to post back with any further questions you may have and to keep us informed.

   Information

As a start and to rule out format errors up front, boot the Windows 7 installation media to diskpart and run the clean command, once the clean finishes, exit diskpart and use the Windows 7 installer to create and format a single 100GB partition to do the install to.

If that does't work, after another clean, use diskpart to create, format and mark Active a single 100GB partition to see if that works, use Step #2 in the SSD/HDD tutorial for reference.

Once the clean finishes, exit diskpart and use the Windows 7 installer to create and format a single 100GB partition to do the install to and be sure to post back with any further questions you may have and to keep us informed.

After you have copied out or made back-ups of the data you need to external media and want to start fresh with a clean installation or clean install with an upgrade version of Windows 7 have a look through the information below and be sure to post back with any further questions you may have and to keep us informed.

It may be a help to over-write the HDD Master Boot Record (MBR) before you start any other procedure using the diskpart clean command, rather than the clean all; it takes just seconds to complete so you will have "unallocated" space to use either the Windows installer to create and format the partition(s) or use diskpart to create them, however you choose. SSD / HDD : Optimize for Windows Reinstallation

DISKPART : At PC Startup
If you want to completely wipe / over-write the entire Hard Disk Drive of any possible format errors, malware infection, for security purposes or just to get the best possible place to install Windows to, have a look at these tutorials. Secure Erase / Wipe : Definition and Methods

Set the machine up, plugged it in via direct USB connection to the computer. The printer seemed to install correctly, as Vista regnized the model and the popup in the system tray indicated that the drivers had been successfully installed. The printer appeared in the Printers folder. Printing a test page resulted in the error message "Test page failed to print. Access is denied." Printing also failed from all applications (Word, Excel, Firefox, Acrobat...) Error messages ranged from "Unknown Error" to "There are no printers installed." There does not appear to be any spooling occurring, as the printer icon never appears in the System Tray, not even for a moment.

Can anyone please help me on this, this is the second printer im setting up, i just returned a canon pixma printer yesterday thought it was a driver issue not compatible with vista but it is also occuring to my new epson nx 330 series

2 things to check.

1 Is the spooler service started?

To do this click on your window start orb then type in services.msc in your "start search" box.
click on nam,e to put everything in alpabetical order and press P. Ensure Print Spooler has been enabled.
Next ensure that you have installed the printer as administrator.

Other updates are installing fine without any error.

I used to run windows 8.1 x64 but I had to reformat because I thought that would've fixed my problems installing windows 10. When I tried to install windows 8.1 x64 again it failed and got the 0x80070570 error. I also tried windows 7 64bit and windows 10 64 bit but I got the same errors. 32-bit OS installs fine though. Of course all my attemptse were clean installs.

Hi, trying to install alps tpad drivers to get multitouch on win7 x64 dell laptop. the installer tries to load "Microsoft .net 4 client profile" but it fails with error (from log)

"MSI (C:\3b228d38aff65874c154c648\netfx_Core_x64.msi) Installation failed. Msi Log: Microsoft .NET Framework 4 Client Profile Setup_20130915_191425624-MSI_netfx_Core_x64.msi.txt

Final Result: Installation failed with error code: (0x80070643), "Fatal error during installation. " (Elapsed time: 0 00:01:24)."

I have also tried to install latest .net4 downloaded from ms downloads, but get the same error.
The multitouch worked fine in win8 (which i hated) but this is a very clean install ( partitions removed and reformatted) of win7 ultimate, sp1 loaded. I updated as per ms instructions for all win7 updates it said i needed (not counting the Office ones i don't want). I've spent many hours now and any help would be appreciated.

Hello,Some third party programs can affect the Windows Update service. If you are running any third party applications such as Spyblocker, Internet or web accelerators (programs designed to boost the speed of the Internet connection), security or anti-virus programs (Norton, McAfee, etc.), I recommend you temporarily disable or uninstall them and then try accessing Windows Update later. If the problem still happens, try the following steps:Rename the Windows Update Softwaredistribution folder================================================1. Close all the open windows. 2. Click "Start", click "All programs", and click "Accessories". 3. Right-click "Command Prompt", and click "Run as administrator".4. In the "Administrator: Command Prompt" window, type in "net stop WuAuServ" (without the quotes) and press Enter.
Note: Please look at the cmd window and make sure it says that it was successfully stopped before we try to rename the folder. However, if it fails, please let me know before performing any further steps and include any error messages you may have received when it failed.
5. Click "Start", in the "Start Search" box, type in "%windir%" (without the quotes) and press Enter.6. In the opened folder, look for the folder named "SoftwareDistribution".7. Right-click on the folder, select "Rename" and type "SDold" (without the quotes) to rename this folder.8. Still in "Administrator: Command Prompt" window, type the command "net start WuAuServ" (without the quotes) in the opened window to restart the Windows Updates service. If you still cannot install updates, running system file checker and check if the problem is caused by the corrupted system files: System File Checker================1.  Click Start, click All Programs, click Accessories, right-click Command Prompt, and then click Run as administrator.   2.  Type the following command, and then press ENTER:  sfc  /scannow  The sfc  /scannow command scans all system files and will recover the corrupted ones.   3. Please restart the computer and recheck the original issue. In-place Upgrade============= 1. Insert the Windows 7 DVD in the computer's DVD drive. 2. Click Start and choose Computer.3. Please find the "setup.exe" file in the DVD-ROM and double click it.4. Click Install now. 5. When we are prompted to input the product key, please click Next without inputting any key. The setup wizard will prompt and ask if you agree to install Windows 7 without the key. Please choose to confirm.6. When you reach the "Which type of installation do you want" screen, click Upgrade to upgrade the system files of Windows 7 Note: While performing the In-place Upgrade, the system will restart automatically (several times) to merge the files and programs. Please leave the computer alone and do not configure it until In-place Upgrade is completed. The system will start Windows 7 once it is upgraded. Thomas77

Hi Folks,

My Windows 7 home premium 64bit SP1 has failed to update since 2012. Every time I tried, the system update ended up with error code 8007370B: Windows Update encountered an unknown error.

I have followed the steps at

Windows Update Posting Instructions

and installed the SURT.

It installed correctly but did not solve the problem, still the same error code: 8007370B.

I have also tried running sfc /scannow in an elevated cmd, but it failed with the following output:C:\windows\system32>sfc /scannow

Beginning system scan. This process will take some time.

Windows Resource Protection could not perform the requested operation.

Attached is my CBS.zip and windows update error screenshot. I want to point out that I have installed several versions of SURT from 2012 till now, none of which fixed the problem, but may have generated some logs to CBS.

Thanks for any possible solutions.

Hoping you guys could help me out with my SP1 install, as I get error 8024200D when I run it through Windows Update. I have gone through the usual stuff, like the sfc /scannow command (no issues), and the System Update Readiness Tool (also fine).

I tried installing manually, but then I get a different error (0x8007002). I was going to start going through the threads here to see what worked, but someone said that each case is likely to be different, so post a thread. So that's what I'm doing. The CBS zip is kinda large, I think it has logs from all of the install attempts, but I didn't want to screw anything up so I left it alone.

I am running Windows 7 Ultimate N. Let me know if you need anything else.

Installation of Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 fails everytime on my PC. It stops on the very first step (Runtime Pre-requisites). When I took a look at the error report, I found out that the error code was (Can you believe my luck!) 1603. It just means "Fatal Error during installation" (Or does it?).

After this, I tried to intall this software after uninstalling VC++ 2005 and deleting all of the related files too but it didn't work either. I gathered from the installation log that the installation just did diddly-squat at the very first step. Anyway, I am attaching the installation logs for analysis. Please help me!

A:Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 Activation fails

Hi, Welcome to SF

1.) Call notebook support and explain the situation to them and they will ask you for some information about the laptop (ie. serial number, model, etc.) and will sometimes provide a new key that will get you activated ( OEM versions are supported by the manufacturer and not MS so they are suppose to be the ones that verify the purchase and provide support to get the system reactivated if there are problems )

2. If notebook manufacturer will not help then call the MS activation hotline and explain to them that the Software required a reinstall and notebook manufacturer will not help will sometimes get MS to provide help (they will ask for information about the system to ensure you are installing the correct version that came with the system and will want you to give them any info you can still read from the sticker as well as the model and serial number of the laptop etc. )

Normally since you are dealing with a laptop that did come with the OS preinstalled one or the other will provide an activation response code that will activate the system but it does sometimes take a bit of talking with the support staff to get it done.

This is quite normal. Please uninstall the AMD/ATI programs completely and try the Windows 7 Upgrade process again.

After Windows 7 has been successfully installed, you can head over to the AMD Support site and get yourself the Win7 32 bit driver for your video card/chipset. Once installed, your display resolution should be back to normal!

That code usually means that updates were not completed. With this any any updates, do not let them install automatically. Install a few at a time manually.
In this situation, download a few at a time, excluding the problem update. I would set that update to hide (not install) as it may cause you further problems.
Windows Update - Windows Automatic Updating
Right click on the problem update, and then hide.

Hi all,Attempting to backup my HP laptop to my new Seagate Expansion 3TB plug and play external drive returns the error shown in the screenshot below. After searching Google for a solution it seems the backup utility in Windows 7 is not compatible with high capacity drives over 2.5TB. Am I understanding this correctly? How am I going to backup my laptop onto this drive?I did come across a proposed solution here but apparently this would prevent the drive from working with Windows XP. As I need to move file between the laptop and an XP machine this is not an option for me.There is approximately 126GB of data on the machine and the drive is brand new, formatted to NTFS and otherwise empty.Perhaps I need to use a third party software to backup? Please advise. Thank you.

A:Some updates won't install Error Code: 8024200D

I searched for the updates in question online, and downloaded and installed them manually. I then checked for new updates(after a reboot), and windows update successfully downloaded and installed all by itself. It seems my troubles are a thing of yesterday. Hooray! Still though, I don't get why this happened in the first place ... oh well.

I bought Windows 7 Home Premium from a Retail store. I got two disks in it. One is of 32 bit version and one is of 64 bit version. Can i install only one of them or I can install only one? Please let me knows guYz.

A:Installation of Windows 7 Home Premium

You can install only one at a time.

If you have a 64 bit processor and more than 4gb of RAM then try 64 bit first. Drivers are a little bit harder to find with 64 bit, although most drivers will be in the installer or quickly updated via optional Windows Updates.

Don't activate it until you're sure you want to keep 64 bit and not change to 32 bit.

Hi guys,
I'm trying to reinstall Windows 7 Home Premium (64 Bit) back on to my laptop but can't find my installation disk. Does anyone know where I could download an ISO?
Thanks,
Norman

A:Windows 7 Home Premium Installation ISO

You can download a ISO image of Windows 7 at the Window Seven Forums.  You will need to burn the ISO image to a DVD to create a bootable disc.

This ISO download is legal, it was hosted by Digital River who is a distribution partner of Microsoft.  You will need a valid product key in order to activate this copy of Windows 7.

To burn a ISO file to a CD or DVD please downlaod ImgBurn and install it.

Insert blank CD or DVD into your CD/DVD drive.

Open ImgBurn, and click on Write image file to disc.

Click on the Browse for a file icon:

Locate the ISO file you want to burn, and click on the Open button.

Click on the blue arrow to start burning the bootable CD.

Hello All,

I am trying to run a Windows 7 Repair installation and the install is stopping because I have a more recent version of Windows than what is on my DVD. Which is true. I am running Window 7 SP1 and the DVD is just Windows 7.

I am following the tutorial here:

Repair Install

I basically chose an "upgrade" vs "custom" when I was asked about the type of upgrade that I wanted to run. The installation proceeded and then stopped and stated that I had a more current version of Windows than what I was trying to install.

Can I still run a repair install?

Thanks, Bill

A:Windows Repair Installation for Home Premium 7 64 Bit will not run

I've heard of this problem before.

Not sure, but I think the solution may be to download an ISO of Windows 7 with SPI, burn it to a disc, and then run the repair install from that disk.

Get the ISO from mydigitallife.info.

http://www.mydigitallife.info/offici...digital-river/

Let others confirm this as a solution. I'm just going from memory.

A:Windows Home Premium Installation Issue

HeyAll,

I have bit of a problem , I have the following pc which I bought 3 yrs ago , so I suppose relatively old Compaq Presario SR2125UK Desktop PC - HP technical support (United Kingdom - English)

Its running 2gb of mem as opposed to the 1 originally in there but other than and upgraded graphics card the same machine , duo core intel proscessor ( I cant remember the exact speed - i suffer dyscalculia ) and of course I cant boot up the pc to check and 140 gb if i recall .

To recall how this happened aint easy and tbh has been recurring issues for some time that I managed to sort with antivirus software , but never truly sorted until i suppose it got out of hand ( fan whirling all the time ) and myself resorting to using the netbook i am on now.

I tired various antivirus like kapersky , spybot but for somer reason it never truly fixed and whats worse was its was also not doing a system restore - which I dont think has ever happened to me before.

Tonight then I attempted to sort this , though I must confess I wasnt in the best frame of mind ( ill health plus 6 weeks of being stuck indoors thanks to weather you see )

Any how I got hold of this program called Paragon hard disc manager because i wanted a fail safe way to format the partition on my hard drive ( thinking it would help resolve whatever the funk was going on once and for all )

I also should not note i tried checking the intergrity or something like that , of the system files itself which of course I knew were not working , but it just told me to run check disc which I already tried unsuccessfully before any way .

So I just went ahead and formatted it and booted up the windows installation with recovery disc I had downloaded from site.. Nemo like the captain or something

So far so good and windows isntallation asks for the product key - which of course I have and type in , but after this fun n games begins.

Instead of it installing then , i get told this..

Windows cannot open required file:J:\Sources\Install.wim.

The file does not exist. Makes sure all files required for
installation are available , and restart Error code:0x80070002

With Love n Light,

Bill gates

ok- the last 2 lines are of course just my sarcasm or bad sense of humour, but this is where Im left so I wondering what my options are now.

Would fresh installation of from installation disc fix this , or any of the drivers so forth on that link , or am I up gumtree with this?

thanks for reading any way- as you can tell im pretty stupid but i can read ...sometimes

peace,

snoko

Hi all,

If it helps I have this computer exactly Amazon.com: HP Pavilion Elite E9140F Desktop PC: Computer & Accessories

I am trying to install Windows 7 64 bit and it goes through all the installation processes and then gets stuck at the "completing installation" screen. Somethimes it even goes black. I have left it on overnight thinking it was a long installation but still have the same problem. I have tried switching to the onboard graphiccs instead of the ATI card and still nothing. I have unattatched everything except my wirelsess usb mouse/keyboard and my monitor.

Anyone have a solution? My frustration level is going through the roof, thanks!

Hi All,

I'm new to these forums. New to Windows 7. But an old computer guy. So I know when I need to ask for some help.

I had an old HP laptop running Vista and the the video died but, the hard disk was still good. The computer itself was not worth repairing. I replaced it with a new Dell XPS running Windows 7. I took the old hard disk and installed it into an external USB enclosure. I can plug it into the new computer and transfer the data easily.

But what about the applications, application data, user settings, etc...

Any help and direction would be appreciated!

Thanks,
Eric

A:Transferring Old Vista Installation to New Windows 7 x64 Home Premium

You'll need to reinstall programs.

I would also not import AppData settings as they are a corruption path into a new install. You'll want new settings for new installs anyway.

The exception of course is importing your mail and possibly settings for Windows Mail, Office outlook, etc.

Here are tips to Clean up factory bloatware to tame the preinstalled crapware including useless Dell utilities which have much better versions built into Win7 itself.

After repairs and installation of a new hard drive I am unable to connect with my HP LaserJet 5MP. I have installed a Gigaware 6 foot USB-A to Centronics Parallel Printer Cable and installed its software. I also got Windows to find the 5MP driver but removed the printer when I found it did not work and tried reloading and finding it again.

It seems that you cannot choose add a printer with usb as "Windows will find it". It does not seem to be locating it when selecting add a device. I mistakenly chose the first time to add a printer and that is when Microsoft did find the driver.... but again it says not to choose "Add a local printer if you have a usb"

The printer will produce it's own test page.

Has it ever worked using that cable and converter?

I've not had any luck using USB to parallel converters. So that would be my first suspect.

Make sure you have written a fully intact ISO to stick from Steps 1 and 2 of Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7.

Set HDD first to boot in BIOS setup, trigger stick using one-time BIOS Boot menu key, which may prevent the stick from starting after reboot. If not unplug it.

Hi I have recently purchased Windows Pro -bit to install on another partition installation build on Pro finish Windows to 64-bit fails ASUS 7 home on my Vertex III SSD drive For work related reason I have mainly used Windows XP Pro -bit so this also is the case for my home desktop PC I recently purchaed Windows and have attempted to install it on a second partition of about Gb on my SSD drive The Windows install setup loads no problems I choose the partition to install onto and go through the procedure of installing The installation uncompresses the windows files etc then proceedes and then requests to restart the PC in s etc It does this and does some futher installation during wich the screen stays blanc dark with the monitor on Then the finalising installation window setup pops up and there Windows 7 Pro 64-bit installation fails to finish on home build ASUS is another reset of the PC At this stage the boot choice menu for Windows Windows 7 Pro 64-bit installation fails to finish on home build ASUS shows up with quot olfer versions of Windows quot and the Windows choice showing I choose the Windows boot and the Windows boot logo shows up briefly after which the monitor goes blanc dark with the monitor light ON not standby The disk light flashes for a while s or so but after that very little disk activity goes on with the monitor still blanc with monitor light ON not standby mode I left it like this for minutes even after a second attempt of installation but the installation appears to stop at the same point and the monitor stays blanc with no further indication of installation activity and no final welcome to windows screen - nothing no BSOD just blanc screen At no stage was I ever asked for a serial number as with a Win XP installation so I am completely lost as to where I am in the installation process I do not really know what to expect or if I should leave the installation longer when in the blanc screen mode Basically I was expecting some feedback from the installation where it is and not just a blanc screen as it seems to always end up in I have previously checkd that Windows -bit will run on my ASUS P G T-M LE motherboard with Gb of memory There is only a wireless card and a basic soundblaster audio card installed Windows XP pro -bit is already installed and working on the other partition and I can still acess it no problems I was expecting the Windows installation to run smoother and with no issues but this is not the case and I have no idea what could be wrong if there are some drivers missing or other compatibility problems etc Would appreciate some ideas on what might be wrong and how to proceed Thanks in advance Cheers Mik

Why not invest now in a perfect Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7 which you can then save after setup as a backup image and never have to reinstall again.

You'll get and keep a perfect install to the extent you stick with the tools and methods in the tutorial.

Otherwise post back a screenshot of Disk Management - Post a Screen Capture Image - Windows 7 Help Forums.

You can sometimes force Win7 install to show in WinRe by running these steps How to run the Bootrec.exe tool in the Windows Recovery Environment to troubleshoot and repair startup issues in Windows.

But we need to make sure the correct partition is still marked Active so post back the screenshot first.

A:Windows XP installation as dual boot with Windows 7 Home Premium

The ancient XP CD doesn't have modern SATA drivers so can't see your hard drive. Easiest solution is to virtualize XP in Win7 using freeware like VMWare or Virtual Box.

The only way to insert the SATA driver if you can find it for your SATA controller if you still have a floppy drive SATA Drivers - Load in Windows XP Setup on Dual Boot or you can try slipstreaming in the XP CDr: SATA Drivers - Slipstream into Windows XP CD.

Then shrink the C partition, boot XP CD to create and full format the partition in the shrink space, install there. Dual Boot Installation with Windows 7 and XP

A:Installation Problem of MS Office 2007 SP1 Update on Windows Vista Home Premium

I would say that the simple solution is probably to do a repair install of Office 2007. There is, however a KB that addresses this problem for Office 2003, which may apply to 2007: How to troubleshoot common Windows Update, Microsoft Update, and Windows Server Update Services installation issues

Hopefully that helps.

Hi all I am having trouble installing my copy of Vista Home Premium -Bit I ran an evalutation version of Vista Home Premium and then formatted the HDD using an OEM copy of Home Premium I bought I formatted before the trial period had expired and then proceeded to install the OEM copy and the installation ran fine untill it rebooted for about the second time after which the screen displayed Completing installation at which point the progress bar at the bottom froze The DVD stopped spining although I think I could still hear the HDD whirring After half an hour or so I got a blue screen display Installation Error Crash, VISTA "c000021a" Premium Home 32-Bit which said quot STOP ERROR c a NT initial command process system process terminated unexpectedly with status of x x x quot It then began a crash dump and rebooted after several minutes I have since Installed Windows XP Pro which installs fine - no errors and repeated the OEM Vista Installation through the XP OS - but to no avail the same error occurs Now that I am running the Vista Installation through XP each time the error occurs and my PC reboots my BIOS asks me to select VISTA 32-Bit Home Premium Installation Crash, Error "c000021a" which option to boot - Windows XP or - Windows SETUP The XP option works fine and brings me back into fully functioning XP OS note that I didn t format HDD I installed Vista on the same partitian - all XP files were to be moved to quot windows old quot file after Installation completes according to Vista Installation The Windows SETUP option takes me back into Vista Installation where I recieve the message quot Installation cannot complete as your computer unexpectedly restarted quot or similar verbage I know vista will work on my machine as the Windows Vista Upgrade adviser says my machine is more than capable and the fact that I ran an evaluation copy of Vista Home Premiuim before hand is proof that my machine can take it for those of you wondering why I didn t just purchase a key from windows when the trial period expired instead of buying an OEM copy and then installing that well its because I thought I could get it cheaper via OEM than paying Microsoft s prices online from their site Now I have tried booting from DVD after backing up my files safely on my nd HDD and formatting my st HDD the one with XP OS on it and tried the Vista Installation but the same error occurs I have tried re-installing XP and running Vista Installation through XP withought any drivers installed and I still get the same BSD blue screen display I have tried re-installing XP and running Vista Installation through XP WITH drivers core drivers installed but arguably not the latest drivers as I only used the drivers supplied with my hard ware and I still get the same BSD I have uprgraded my BIOS - but still the same BSD From browsing other forums I have heard that this could either be A a hardware issue B a Graphics Card issue C Memory Issue - something to do with Kernals D a Driver issue more than one of the possible causes may apply - so I ve heard I read that MEMTEST can determine whether memory is to fault however Rookie System Builder I may be - but Advances BIOS manipulator I am not In order to run memtest you must download it from their site www memtest com as either bootable ISO or Binary neither of which I know how to execute in BIOS I also picked up that removing one of my RAM modules can remove the error - quite how reduceing dual channel to one channel can fix the error I don t know - but I will give it a go if alternative methods fail Apparently a SETUP repair could hold the answer Apparently removing the DVD just before the crash could be the answer Microsoft Web site don t seem to offer many answers other than check your drivers ect I know there are about a million and one similar cases to mine but I stress the word similar as they usually refer to Winlogon troubles I have no idea if this is a Csrss exe error or what i dont even know w... I recently downloaded the PC game Sacred 2 via direct2drive - and when executing the Sacred 2 Installer .exe it gives me the error, "This installation package could not be opened. Contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid Windows Installer package." (I've attached an image of the error to this post) I've downloaded this thing multiple times to make sure the download wasn't corrupted. I have full administrative rights on this OS with the UAC disabled. I've tried running it in compatibility mode, I've tried searching for a download for Windows Installer to reinstall, and I've tried creating an alternate Administrative Profile on this computer and installing it in that account - no dice. I've also scanned for any possible viruses. I'm at wits end. Paid $40 for the game and can't even play it. Any advice, suggestions, or a solution would be greatly appreciated. Cheers.

Hello All. I have a customer who tried to upgrade her application and created a disaster. She uninstalled her then current version (this is actually the correct procedure) then installed the next version. When she opened the application all her data was missing. Instead of immediately contacting me, she panicked and used Windows Restore function. Now the application shows in Windows Add/Remove Programs but will not uninstall. Setup blows out. I have a batch file that cleans up most of our registry entries but this was not sufficient. I cannot remove the current installation and the installation will not install over what it sees as an existing installation.
Is there a trick to forcing an installation or does that have to be set up in the installation routine (Installshield)?
Thanks.

A:Uninstall fails in Vista Home Premium

Hi, I would be wary of any "batch file" that purports to fix this, each program will dump entries into different locations so how a batch file would work ...(safely let alone efficiently) You might send me a copy and I will take a look. (PM)

You may need some registry detective work or try RevoUninstaller use the "advanced" uninstall option or windows uninstaller.

For about the past two months Windows update has failed to run. If I try to run it manually it just sits there spinning its wheels. It does not appear to end or produce an error code.
I have seen the message "could not check for updates automatically"
I've been to the MS site and downloaded both
MicrosoftFixit.wu.RNP.6329995410378136.2.1.Run.exe
and
WindowsUpdateDiagnostic.diagcab
and the third party
Repair-tool.exe by ParetolLogic
but none of these fix the problem.
Today I have run SURT as instructed and the output from sfc /scannow is attached.
Update is still refusing to do anything.

Hi,

My Windows Updates fails Error Code :WindowsUpdate_80070652

Definition Update for Windows Defender - KB915597 (Definition 1.71.471.0)

Any thoughts ??

A:Windows Updates fails Error Code :WindowsUpdate_8007065

Hi shyamsasinran,

This is interesting, for normal updates this code suggests that another install is in progress (I not sure if Windows Defender is the same). This error can also occur if a dll is loaded that it needs to access, or if the downloaded file is corrupt.
Some thoughts
- If the update is already downloaded, try to install it in safe mode.
- Try to download the latest WD definitions and install manually, get them from the Microsoft Malware Protection Center

Good Luck

Windows 8 Backup has been working fine for 12 months to an external Seagate USB hard drive.I'm now getting a "device not ready" message with error code 0x80070015 and the backup fails within 30 secs of starting. Filling out System Specs would save asking all about the external drive model, your system HD etc..

Some externals spin down to save energy. Some can be set to spin up and stay up. I don't know what you have for HW.

There's no obvious problems (apart from your errorcode) in any of the data posted.

Please follow the Windows Update Posting Instructions and post the requested data
If the file is too large (8MB compressed), remove the older CBSPersist cab files until the final file is below the limit - you can always post them separately after zipping them. (the forum doesn't allow the upload of bare CAB files, for a number of reasons)
Please also post the C:\Windows\windowsupdate.log file.

There was a second update of the same sort that was also not working before; I eventually managed to get that update to complete by running Fixit in aggressive mode. Nothing I've done has helped with the remaining failure, though.

Let me know what other information I should provide. Thanks in advance.

Hi,

Due to problems with interrupted updates and my graphics driver I had to re-install Windows 7 Ultimate x86 (dating from 2010).
Unfortunately, Windows can not perform updates anymore: it immediately issues an error code 800B0100.
After running several tools from Microsoft the problem still exists.
So now I turn to the real experts and hope you guys can help me.
I have run the tooling suggested on your forum and attached the CBS files.
Now I hope you can help me.

Thanks in advance,
Hans

The last Windows Update I was able to successfully download was on March 16.  Since then, it fails almost immediately with an error code of 8024402C.  Underneath that it says that the last update date was Never.  I tried just running one tiny 300KB update with the same results.

At that time I tried to scan my Dell e6410 with Microsoft Security Essentials, but it wouldn't update either.  I finally was able to manually download updates.

Neither MSE nor MalwareBytes can find anything wrong.
Chkdsk completed normally.
System File Checker completed OK.
The links to GMER from this forum wouldn't load the page.
The C:\ drive is only 1% fragmented, which in my mind doesn't justify the risk of running a defrag.
And this is the weirdest part:  When I attempt to restart the Windows Defender service, it stops itself.

Running Windows 7 Professional, 32-bit
4 GB RAM

I want to use Windows 7 Backup and Restore to backup files to a shared drive on a Mac server. I can browse to the network share from the Windows 7 computer without a problem.

I configured the backup settings and kicked it off. After several hours it stopped and reported that it did not complete successfully. The error code reported is 0x8007054F. No other details are provided.

I can't find anything that tells me exactly what this error means. It seems to be pretty generic. Can anyone help?

Ok, I've been researching solutions for issues with windows 7 backup for weeks now and have had no luck. My VSS service is running fine, and everything was backing up fine til a short while ago, and has been failing since. I have been backing up to a network share on my file server. My roommate has been having the same issue for some time now, however he was attempting to do this with an external hard drive. Same error of 0x8100019. I've tried everything I can think of and I've had no leads thus far. Any pointers on this would be helpful.

A:Windows 7 Backup fails, error code 0x8100019

Same problem, it actually backed up the first time I used the program that is on WIN7. Now it gives me the blue screen. I have deleted the file it makes and start over, same thing happens. I have tried to change the drive from basic to dynamic it won't allow me, reason is I have a laptop. But I am more confused since it worked the FIRST time and now it's not allowing me to finish! It's actually frustrating cause I have already lost everything on my hard drive before and really don't want it to happen again. I wish I had the answer but I'm still searching.

The service is started and automatic, was automatic (Delayed) but changed that - no difference.
I did receive 3 updates yesterday but Belarc Advisor states I'm short of 11 critical updates.
I believe it as I just installed Office and no updates are being offered.
Maybe the servers are down.
I hope using Timernuke to get around the activation issue hasn't caused this.

A:Windows Update Fails Error Code 80070422

This happened to me too while I had some installations running on the background.

I guess it's either this, or at the same time windows automatic update was running, and it just fails to notify you of that.

After all my installations were finished, or after a restart, I don't remember, the Windows Update worked fine.

Hello experts,

I have ASUS Essentio mini-pc with Windows Vista Home Premium x64 installed.
I did run virus checker, spy checker, several registry cleaners.
I spent a week on it , as well Microsoft support logged in for an hour.
I did run the batch file re-registering DLL's.
The original error 80070424 is gone since I run the "ErrorFix" utility.

My recovery CD form the manufacturer is only to wipe out all what I have installed and reload the "vanilla" system. Windows repair option is not available.
This is for me out of question, to many programs are installed on my system.

Here is the problem I think:
Windows installer is missing,
Windows Installer 4.5 Redistributable installation fails. error code 1603
"Windows update" does not work, error code: 80040154

Questions
1. Is there any way to restore the Windows Installer files ?
2. Upgrading to Windows Vista Ultimate version will fix the missing files ?

Any other suggestions?

TIA
Frank

So I had to do a System Repair thing where Windows would repair itself and removing all my apps but keep my documents, photos and music etc. So I was reinstalling every program again and also wanted to install the updates.

But I ran into 0x800f0922 error code and I couldnt install them. (I run Windows 8.1 Pro) I was trying to install Adobe Photoshop but couldnt continue cuz .NET framework 3.5 was required. But after trying to manually download + install I got
the same error (0x800f0922). I've tried almost every cmd command but couldnt fix it. (im a kinda noob on it anyways)

Any help would be appreciated!

Hi there,

I have a problem with Windows Update - it continually fails to install update KB2966583 (which is about 2.5MB) and brings up error code 800736B3. I have tried the update troubleshooter for Windows, the update readiness tool and hotfix.

Can anyone help me with this? Thanks in advance.
