Tried many things, still error 800736B3

Q: Tried many things, still error 800736B3

I've run the System file checker and that didn't find anything, I fully reset the windows update service to where it says I've never updated. I've tried the Readniss update tool and I'm repairing .Net now. Any suggestions? Whats the next step?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A:error code 800736B3 installing SP1

Put the win7 disc in and choose upgrade then after that it will restart.

After you have acepted the upgrade it will allow you to install the sp1 .

Once win7 has upgraded ,but still keeping your system in tact ,will start the whole update process. After about a hour or two of updates it will install sp1 with no issue .

Also if you are useing a highend gaming card virus protect etc it might keep it from installing as well

The 80072EFE error is simply a bad internet connection - although that can be due either to physical problems or software interferences by malware, firewalls, etc.

The 800736B3 error is somewhat different.

I have a computer that has been failing to install the IE cumulative updates. It is now also failing to install the bundled security updates (KB3192391 for example). I have tried the system readiness tool, clearing out the database, manually installing,

I have lurked in this forum in the past - always finding answers. Thanks to all the experts contributing to this forum.

This time I joined so I could post, as I have been unable to find a solution to my problem.

I can install all updates except for SP1. I keep getting error 800736B3.

I ran the Update Troubleshooter, which claims to have repaired Win Update components - still same error.

I then successfully ran the hotfix KB947821. The same error occurs.

I ran sfc /scannow & no integrity violations were found.

I also tried again after a clean boot - same error.

I don't have a clue as to what to try now. Any suggestions?

Okay I currently have the CBS file compressing but here's the basic rundown of my problem: Updates fail to install and gives me error code 800736B3, no matter how I try to install them, one at a time, all at once, on shutdown, while computer is running, etc. It has continually asked me to run checkdisk when I turn it on and won't run unless I do, and when it does run, it deletes files that are Corrupted, I think? Has crashed my computer once this past week which made me begin to look into the issue

Edit- The file won't attach normally so I've uploaded it to a public Google drive.
Link for that is here. https://drive.google.com/folderview?...Tg&usp=sharing

Window Update failing error code 800736B3

I have followed the SFC, update readiness, and clean boot procedures listed in the thread I linked above. I believe I have a SIMILAR issue (not the same).

Can anyone give me a light in the proper direction?

SFC found nothing, readiness tool ran and installed hotfix but did not fix issue. I also tried to install updates 1 at a time, to not avail, as well as the clean boot.

Based on my checksur log, I have the following:

Tried now several approaches from the forum to get it resolved, but no resolution of the issue until now.

Hi,

This is my first post, and not all that clever with pcs, so apologies in advance if I've missed something out.

I have been getting this error code repeatedly when trying to install update KB2922229 for a couple of months now. Never had any problems before. Other updates were installing just fine, but I am now getting the same error code when trying to install update KB2871997. As both of these updates seem to be related to security, I am getting a bit concerned.

I have followed the steps in the Windows Update Posting Instructions, running SURT and an SFC scan. Logs attached.

Hope someone will be kind enough to help with this.

A:Windows 7 Updates Failing Error 800736B3

Hello Rob,

Lets run SURT to see if it gives an indication of a corruption:

Download and run System Update Readiness Tool (SURT)
Please go Here and download the System Update Readiness Tool (SURT). Save this file to your desktop
Go to your desktop and run KB947821
When the SURT finishes installing, Please continue.
SFC /SCANNOW

Click on the button. Inside the search box type in CMD
Right click on CMD => Choose Run as Administrator
Inside the Command Prompt windows copy and paste the following command SFC /SCANNOW
Please wait for this to Finish before continuing with the rest of the steps.

Export CBS folder
Click the Start button then click Computer.
Double-click on the C: drive, under the Hard Disk Drives category, and then scroll down to, and double click on the Windows folder.
Find and double click on the Logs folder.
Right-click on the CBS folder, and select Copy.
Go back to your Desktop, right-click on it, and select Paste. You should now see a copy of the CBS folder appear on your Desktop called CBS.
Right-click on this new folder, and navigate through Send to, and select Compressed (zipped) folder.
A new file, also called CBS (CBS.zip), but this time with a different icon, will be created.
Attach this to your next post please.
Please Note:: if the file is too big to upload to you next please post please upload via Dropbox or ge.tt

A:Windows update Error 80243004 and 800736B3

What on earth did you use to split the Zip files? I've tried 3 different tools, and all tell me the files are corrupt.

Please just zip two/3 files together and upload them separately, then do another 2/3 files.

I have attached the files that i can, however when compressing the CBS folder it totals to 196MB so its impossible to upload here.

Any help would be much appreciated!

Thanks,

Hello and welcome tenlakes mate I see you have done the sfc and I would suggest you run this as well if you haven't already
http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/433-disk-check.html < if necessary include the /f and /r in the command line as per Option2

just for another option you could run these they don't take long and will eliminate anything from that direction
http://www.superantispyware.com/
http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_free/
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/adwcleaner/
ADW download from bleeping computer delete any rubbish found with the malware scans
(NB If one is running Kaspersky security it may rant about ADW - just ignore it or disable Kaspersky while the ADW is being used)

I've been trying to solve this for a few months now but I haven't gotten anywhere. I've followed all the instructions here and they still continue to fail.

Windows Update Posting Instructions
I would really appreciate any insight as to what you think may be causing the issue, reformatting would really set me back since this computer has some industry specific CAD programs that are a pain to setup.

thanks again,Mark

For some reason I cant post an attachment "attach button doesn't respond, in fact none of them do", I'll add a reply to the thread to see if I can then.

Update: Sorry about the missing attachments, I moved them out of the folder and forgot to attach, there are a couple of older CBS Persist files if you need them.

thanks

Have never had Avast free home interfere with anything, but you can disable it to try the Updates by right clicking it's icon in system tray and "turn off real time protection"

I note that another recent thread on this error found by Googling also remains unresolved.

If you bought your Win7 retail, you are entitled to MS excellent tech support which will work the case through to satisfaction. Those Updates are standard and can wait a few days.

Hello,

I seem to be running into a popular issue with Windows Update- 800736B3. WU is not completely broken, as it's still able to install updates to Security Essentials and non-system software (IE11, Office). All system updates, however, are failing. I've ran SURT and SFC scan, but both didn't report any outright errors. The logs should be attached to this post in the .zip

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance!

Hello all, I am posting for my father-in-law who is having difficulty with these windows updates.

The error code is 800736B3.

I downloaded and ran SURT a few times, each time it reported success however the error is still active and there are 10 updates pending on windows update.

i also scanned several times sfc /scannow and nothing exciting came up.

Uploading my CBS.zip continues to time out so here is a link to google drive with the file:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B7V...it?usp=sharing

Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi! Since the beginning of may (May 3rd) every update has failed and they've been stacking up to the point where there's now 25 updates I've missed.

I've googled the issue and tried running "Fixit" and CheckSUR but nothing has helped.
I'm now desperate and annoyed because of all this. That's why I'm coming to you on this forum. You seem to have a lot of knowledge on these topics.

Since I'm new to this, I don't really know which files and logs to attach so if someone explained it to me I'll be able to post them ASAP

As title. Im using W7 64-bit version and its a cumulative security update for IE8.
Microsoft charges me to try and email my issues, so id thought id try here first.

what should i do to solve this problem? I have disabled my Kaspersky and no change. I have also downloaded it manually and it just says it cant be installed.

A:trying to use update KB980182 gives code 800736B3?!?!?!

Is Windows Defender on? See if disabling it in 'services' helps.

I am trying to assist a friend in repairing their windows update problems. I've made progress- but I have 5 Important updates that refuse to install...

IE11 - 9C59
KB2937610 - 800736B3
KB2972211 - 800736B3
KB3032323 - 800736B3
KB2791765 - 800736B3

the SURT was run- and got most of the updates to work other than the ones shown above.
sfc /scannow said all files were fine.

SURT has been run 4 or so times- it's not shown any repairs after the first run... as I would expect.

I've looked through the log files, but I am not really sure what I am looking for to indicate what the problem is.

I have attempted to attach the CBS.Zip file but I got a 404 error each time I clicked "Upload". This must be due to the size of the file. Here is a onedrive link to the zip file.

A:Windows Update: 800736B3 and 9C59

The upload is 8 times larger than the forum's 8MB size limit on Zip/RAR files - which is why it wouldn't upload here

Your first run of CheckSUR had the following summary...

Quote:

The next was clear of errors - how did you go about fixing the C Mark errors, since CheckSUR wasn't able to do it?

The CBS.log file shows the expected errors for the updates (apart from the IE one)

This looks to me as if the install is actually stuck in a pending state, and you need to roll it back...

This is the command to run when booted offline at a Repair Environment command prompt

dism.exe /image:C:\ /cleanup-image /revertpendingactions

This is supposed to revert all pended updates, and hopefully allow the system to start again - assuming it works, do another Check for Updates before attempting to install the updates again.

Hi..

You will need to remove NEW.NET.This is best done via Add/Remove.In some cases removing it can cause problems connecting to the net, so download WinsockFix now and keep it handy.

Download WinsockFix and unzip it. Then double-click on it to run it should you have problems.
---------------------------------------------

Then run HJT and fix this item..

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [New.net Startup] rundll32 C:\PROGRA~1\NEWDOT~1\NEWDOT~3.DLL,ClientStartup -s

Open Windows Explorer and delete the following Red folder if still present.

Hi,

I tried a lot of things trying to resolve this issue but nothing worked.
I finally follow the procedure described on this forum, in the hope someone here can help.

I activated the Administrateur account (my system is in French) and ran the CheckSUR and Windows Update from this account as otherwise I can't access the CBS log file.
I joined the requested files,
Thank you by advance.

A:Windows 7/64 Home Premium Update errors 9C59 & 800736B3

Your SFC scan was clear - but the background CBS data shows some severe problems.
PLease run the CheckSUR tool, and post the results...

Please download and save the CheckSUR tool from http://support.microsoft.com/kb/947821
(you'll need to look in the details for Windows 7, downloading from the Microsoft Download Center)

Run it - The tool can take anywhere from 5 mins to a couple of hours to run (or 'Install') depending on how much it has to do, and may exit silently - it may appear to freeze for most of that time, but be patient.
The result is logged in the C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CheckSUR.log file - and an archive …\checksur.persist.log file

Then zip the CheckSUR.log and upload it to your reply.

Hey all, recently been getting BSOD's and haven't figured out why. I've also done memtest to check memory and that said it was fine. I think it may be something to do with it, not sure. Here is the info from the window on restart:
BCCode: d1
BCP1: FFFFF88007B8F000
BCP2: 0000000000000002

BCP4: FFFFF88006DEC242
OS Version: 6_1_7601

I attached the zip folder with all the dump files and what not from the dm log collector. If anyone can let me know what's up that would be great, thanks!

Ok, Im trying to get a string saved to the reg, but... Well, it would be better to see the source (attached). You see the 'SaveSetting ... "lcd", strCd'? Why doesn't that work?

2nd, under the HR in the text is the button that will depending on a couple of MsgBox's...

First in that order, there will be a MsgBox that, if the reg settings 'lcd' & 'cd' dont match, if the user wants to continue. if yes, it asks if the user is sure it wants to overwrite the current save directory" & strLcd &

Can anyone help?

I honestly don't know much about computers. Probably wasn't the best idea to build my own but i did and everything worked alright until I started to try to install games like League of Legends and Starcraft. After i installed those or part way thru installation my computer crashed, multiple times in a row. After i removed the program the computer worked relatively fine though. Attached is the SF_21-02-2014 file.

Thank You for your help,

Hello, new to the forum, thought I'd ask this question in the hopes of getting an answer. I just did a clean install of Windows XP SP2 on the second partition of a computer. It's running smooth and everything, but some things aren't getting installed. I get an error about RPC server is unavailable, or Error 1719 your system is either in safe mode or the installer is damaged. This is getting on my nerves as a lot of things like Java and various internet applications can't install. Are there any suggestions? I've checked a bunch of RPC/Error 1719 posts and things but all for different operating systems and such.

A:[SOLVED] Can't install some things (RPC? Error 1719?)

Error 1719 is usually caused because the Windows Installer Service is not correctly installed. See if the following will help solve your problem http://support.microsoft.com/kb/315346. Also check in Services that the RPC is started the Windows Installer depends on it.

Simply un-check the boxes for them so they won't install.Run Speccy, "File", "Publish Snapshot" - copy the URL and paste it in to your next post.Download SysInternals AutoRuns from Microsoft TechNet - https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb963902Extract the EXE file to Desktop or Documents (nothing to install; it's a stand-alone executable); RIGHT-click on autoruns.exe; "Run as Administrator"; allow it to scan the registry -- status located bottom-left of AutoRuns screen (few minutes tops); "File"; "Save As"; Save as an ARN file (default file extension)Please zip the ARN file up & attach to your next post.I doubt these new files will show us much more than you have already provided, but it's worth at least a cursory look.IMHO, 5 years is a very long time to go without reinstalling Windows. I would recommend that you start backing up your files in preparation for a Windows reinstall. A fresh install could end up breathing new life in your system &/or it may help figure out if hardware failure is in fact the cause of your BSODs.If a fresh Windows install BSODs before you've had a chance to install anything else, it is extremely likely that hardware failure is at fault.Regards. . .jcgriff2

Guys,I am going to build a gaming pc which components will used items. Can u tell me which things should i recall in my mind while buying used HDD,GPU,PROCESSOR,MOTHERBOARD,RAM,DVD DRIVE,PSU etc
What i figure out what ever i buy it must have warranty.Any advice is very needed.Thanksssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss

A:What things i should keep in mind when buying 2nd hand things???

1. Make sure they work and are compatible with the OS. You can check Windows Compatibility Center. (Win8)
2. Check to see if current drivers are available for the GPU.
3. See if updates are available for the Motherboard BIOS and chipset (INF files).
4. Make sure the memory modules are compatible with the Motherboard. (Speed, type, voltage, etc.)
5. Replace the Motherboard battery.
6. Verify that the PSU will support your hardware.

Good luck!

A:What things I should keep in mind when buying used things?

Suppose the answer changes based on who you are buying from. A lot of these things either work or they don't...

HDD - you could use something like Crystal Disk Info and hope everything shows up green. Or run a Long DST with Seatools (will take 5+ hours on large disks)
GPU - Visually inspect that it is clean, if possible have them run some benchmarks on it and monitor the temperature to make sure its reasonable and there is not artifacting or crashing happening.
Processor - If its less than 7 years old and hasn't been heavily overclocked it has an extremely high chance of being fine.
Motherboard - This is probably fine too if it is shown to work at all, check the caps to see none are bulging or leaking.
RAM - Nothing quick you can do here, ask them if it has passed multiple passes of memtest, you could have them show you, but it will take at least overnight before you get a real answer.
DVD Drive - if it burns disks and reads its fine. If it dies on you, not much you can do, things are like $16 new anyway, don't put a lot of thought into this.
PSU - just find out what one it is and google if it is any good. This really depends on how demanding your system is.

Basically you just have to have a little faith in who you are buying from and ask them if something doesn't work right away if you can return it.

I installed W8CP on an old notebook and gave it to my 13 year old daughter..
She loves it!

One thing: we noticed www.wizard101.com works fine in the normal
IE on the desktop, but does NOT work with the metro IE.. Not sure why..

Is there any way to get wizard101 working and pinnable?

EDIT: also, how do you see a history of links in metro IE?
In regular IE you click and hold the backbutton.. but
holding the backbutton in metro IE seems to do nothing..

It's not critical, but you could get rid of it by uninstalling KB3022345 and/or KB3068708 and hiding the latter when it reappers in your offered updates list.

The title pretty much says it all, just today my laptop has been acting really weird and I noticed someone tried to install a keylogger on my laptop but I can't delete the setup for it or even move it to a different folder. A box pops up telling me "windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item." I even tried enabling my built in administrator account to delete it from that still wouldn't budge though. My anti virus doesn't seem too bothered by it but I don't want it there! lol please help -_- I am running Windows 7 home premium, pretty much brand new dell xps 15z.

Hello,And welcome to BleepingComputer.com, before we can assist you with your question of: Am I infected? You will need to perform the following tasks and post the logs of each if you can.Malwarebytes Anti-MalwareNOTEMalwarebytes is now offering a free trial of their program, if you want to accept it you will need to enter some billing information, so that at the end of the trial you would be charged the cost of the product. Please decline this offer, if you are unable to provide billing information. If you want to try it out, then provide the billing information. Please download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and save it to your desktop.Download Link 1Download Link 2MBAM may "make changes to your registry" as part of its disinfection routine. If using other security programs that detect registry changes (ie Spybot's Teatimer), they may interfere or alert you. Temporarily disable such programs or permit them to allow the changes.Make sure you are connected to the Internet.Double-click on mbam-setup.exe to install the application.
For instructions with screenshots, please refer to the How to use Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware Guide. When the installation begins, follow the prompts and do not make any changes to default settings. When installation has finished, make sure you leave both of these checked:Update Malwarebytes' Anti-MalwareLaunch Malwarebytes' Anti-MalwareThen click Finish.MBAM will automatically start and you will be asked to update the program before performing a scan.If an update is found, the program will automatically update itself. Press the OK button to close that box and continue. If you encounter any problems while downloading the definition updates, manually download them from here and just double-click on mbam-rules.exe to install. On the Scanner tab:Make sure the "Perform Full Scan" option is selected. Then click on the Scan button. If asked to select the drives to scan, leave all the drives selected and click on the Start Scan button. The scan will begin and "Scan in progress" will show at the top. It may take some time to complete so please be patient. When the scan is finished, a message box will say "The scan completed successfully. Click 'Show Results' to display all objects found".Click OK to close the message box and continue with the removal process.Back at the main Scanner screen:Click on the Show Results button to see a list of any malware that was found.Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected. When removal is completed, a log report will open in Notepad. The log is automatically saved and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.Copy and paste the contents of that report in your next reply. Be sure to post the complete log to include the top portion which shows MBAM's database version and your operating system.Exit MBAM when done.Note: If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be asked to reboot your computer so MBAM can proceed with the disinfection process. If asked to restart the computer, please do so immediately. I am trying to use my CD-ROM drive and it doesn't work here are the list of things I have tried

Uninstalled and reinstalled the cd-rom driver it is a Matbleepa UJ-840D CD-ROM/DVD/CD-RW in my HP laptop (Didn't work)

Read stuff about code 39 and removed in the registry edit screen Upperfilters, Upperfilters.bak, Lowerfilters, Lowerfilters.bak and rebooted (Didn't work)

Removed itunes from computer (didn't solve the issue with cd-rom player)

Went back to a system restore point that was before the last time I used the CD-rom player and it worked and that (didn't work as well)

Read a lot of different posts about code 39 and nothing is given after the above steps are taken if it still won't work except to reformat which I would prefer not to do.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Not sure if this is HARDWARE but seem like just about everything my problems involve is I think I ve spent more time here in HARDWARE than in my own living room I got up this morning thinking quot maybe there are little things with the various computer problems I ve had in the past two months I m not noticing or thinking things? Little are important quot As I learn more about it I see this more Examples I Little things? don t have a lot of computer repair experience and even fewer quot successes quot at this point Few years ago the A drive went on my ProTech first computer I Little things? had I was devistated thinking I needed a new tower till I learned they are replaceable I mean who knows that till they find out I got another one My daughter s boyfriend who claimed to have worked on computers not recently since Windows so he knows Little things? the parts but not settings etc took mine apart put in the new A drive When he got it back together the monitor wouldn t go on he reached inside PC pushing on connections and such and it worked Shortly after this I didn t connect it at the time and it might not be relevant the PC started to quot go off quot The whole thing It would flash and go off and restart when dialing up Not everytime sometimes days would go by and it would work fine Sometimes it would take hours of trying to get it to quot connect quot Once online it was okay We used it like this for months and it finally wouldn t go on at all The lights and fan came on but the hd wouldn t quot start quot I ve had someone test it by replacing parts who ended up saying quot it s some problem in the motherboard quot Now I know more I wonder could this be something about shorting something with static electricity Reaching in and doing things without being grounded it doesn t really matter now but I was just thinking of the seemingly LITTLE things that might make a big difference At the time I bought the A drive they told me at the computer store it was easy to put in just don t drop the screws and to leave it plugged into the plugstip but the power turned off so it would be grounded Since then I ve been told to touch the metal case first to discharge static electricity I never heard of that at the time Okay then the Packard Bell past few months I took out WIN put in tried modems many drivers settings etc It kept saying it didn t detect the modem Still doesn t I gave up on it quot for now quot till I learn more When I was first taking it apart and taking modems in and out I was turning it on it s side I later learned to turn it upside down to make it REALLY easier and being gentle with it Once when I did this right after taking the case off a little piece of white plastic fell out onto the table Just plain tiny squre of plastic bigger and thicker than what I could see on the circuit boards etc NOt as tiny as a jumper which are black It didn t have any writing or markings on it Looked more like it had broken off something than been quot wired quot on I couldn t see anything it might have fallen off or from inside the PC I thought maybe it was something under one of the case parts that had broken off and just falling out Now I m thinking could this have been something important part of a connection or something That might be keeping the modems from working I don t even know where the piece of plastic went But again it might have been something that made a difference Now I have another computer someone gave my daughter and the A drive doesn t work Though the person said he fixed it up and everything worked we ve yet to track him down and ask him about it Maybe it s something like a loose connection inside Maybe the A drive just quot died quot between the time he checked it out and brought it here and we hooked it up My point trying to define it clearly is it could be something that seemed tiny insignificiant or we miss because it seems too obvious and tiny insignificiant but would be enough to keep something from working Remember I m ... Install Backup on Windows XP Home Edition

I'd stay away from sp2, still not ready for final release.

My AS software keeps finding Altnet, which evidently came from Kazaa which I used about a year ago and haven't been since. I've found it in the registry but it says "error deleting value" when I delete it.

Also, I unistalled my F-Secure AV software because I didn't not like it. Now when I run HJT I'm getting this F-Secure Backweb plugin thing that will also not go away no matter how many times I try to fix it.

Help Please

Hi! I'm sorry to bother you guys but I was wondering whether any of you could help me? My computer broke and now all my settings and programs have been reset. It has the newest version of Internet Explorer on it but there are some things I don't like about it which I would like to change. I was wondering whether any of you knew how to solve any of my problems?

I have provided a picture to help make my problem clearer:

Problem number 1: I don't like that some of the address is grayed out. Is there a way to make it black like the rest of the address?

Problem number 2: Is there a way to get rid of this "Live Search" toolbar?

Problem number 3: Can I move the highlighted toolbar to the top, where the arrow is pointing?

A:Three Things

Problem 2: Do you want to remove it or just change it to another search engine? To change to another search engine just click the arrow and go from there... To remove it, you can install a add-on called IE7Pro. It will give you the option to take it off. It will also give you other nice stuff...

Problem 3: This one can be solved the same way with IE7Pro. (Although it's called IE7Pro it works with IE8.)

If you don't want to install anything there is at least one other way to fix those two problems.

I happened to go to bitdefender.com to do an online scan. I love that place by the way lol. Well it found a trojan or some type of virus in notepad.exe and since it deleted the file, it deleted notepad!

Can you tell me how that could have happened, and could you tell me what I can do to get it back?

A:Help on 2 things

Hi,

As you haven't told use your O/S ect. I am just telling you roughly what to do, as the way I am describing is for Win 98se. Also the name of the virus would be handy..Cheers

Click start -> Run -> type: sfc then press enter. This command will put you to the system file checker scan for notepad using this tool and install it.

You will need your origional Windows CD-ROM for this. This is one way, I'm sure there will be other ways, if so someone will assist.

my computer was recently infected with a virtumonde trojan. i seemed to have gotten rid of the virtumonde even though it was a huge pain. i know a little bit about computers, but im no expert by any means. i deleted the infection after a long hard fought battle against it. however, when my computer was rebooted, the whole bar at the bottom has disappeared. i think you call it the task bar, im not positive. its the bar that shows your windows that are open, the system tray, and the start menu button. i can still open up all the programs with icons on the desktop, but i also have no sound. i have no idea how to get it back and usually i would check the sound card driver, but i cant get to the control panel. if anyone can assist my situation in anyway i would be extremely greatful.
