I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: Virus, Windows update, user profile and now Genuine Windows problem

If it gives you a access denied message while trying to activate windows; you may very well need to change the permissions for your user name in order for you to have access to it as windows 7 has quirks about having access to certain items even if your user name is a administrator. As for the non genuine windows thing; I strongly advise you in the future to never go to a non genuine site for any free browser. Always type the url directly into the address bar of the browser you use as that way you will encounter less issues. To get rid of the non genuine opera copy. I would download and install revo uninstaller from the link below and that should help to get rid of any registry entries in windows as well as the program folder:

http://www.revouninstaller.com/downl...e-portable.php

download, install, and run the uninstaller from the above link then do a google search for opera browser. Thats your best bet at this point.

A few days ago, Windows Update Automatic updates installed an update on my computer called:

Windows Search 4.0 for Windows Vista (KB940157)

When I restarted my computer after this update I tried to log on and got this message:

The user profile service has failed the logon. User profile cannot be loaded.

I fixed this by booting into the F8 restore options on my Dell Laptop and used system restore to repair the problem
Today Windows Update Installed that same update again and the same problem arose which I again fixed with system restore.
Does anyone have any thoughts on this, like why should this update be causing my User Profile not to load ?

A:Windows Search 4 Update/User Profile problem

Hi, RockLobster, and welcome to the forums.
Hide the update in Windows Update so it won't try to install it.

Manually set a restore point - see System Restore Point - create

Manually download the Windows Search 4.0 update from Microsoft.

Install it

See if that causes the same problem - if so, revert to your newest System Restore.

Hello,
I currently have 5 user accounts on my windows vista 32-bit computer and I needed to create a new account. So, I logged onto the administrator account and created a new user account. Then, I logged off the administrator account and tried to log onto the new account. However, I received the following message
The user profile service failed the log on.
User profile can not be loaded.
After receiving the message I restarted the computer and attempted to log onto the new account but I received the same message.
Please help me.
Thank you in advance.

Hi I haven't posted for a while 7 to April user after Windows start update MSE of 3 profile wont now as everything had been running great however I now have a problem My PC installed an update Windows 7 wont start to user profile after MSE update of 3 April on shutdown yesterday morning but when I came to boot it up again a little later it seemed OK up to the screen with the user profile icons When I clicked on my icon to log in all the icons disappeared and I was left with the background only Rebooted a couple of times Windows 7 wont start to user profile after MSE update of 3 April but still the same apart from sometimes I got to enter my password and then it just 'hung' so at the next start up booted to safe mode with networking From here I was able to go to system restore and noted that the problematic download was an update for MSE it actually said MSE so a restore Windows 7 wont start to user profile after MSE update of 3 April to before that event enabled normal start up The trouble is that at the next shut down reboot cycle it re-installed the MSE update and I was back to carrying out a restore This is the cycle I am now in and need to fix it I have even removed MSE and re-installed with the latest updates as part of that process but this little 'important update' keeps coming back to play I have not yet followed the 'Windows Update Posting Instructions' to find error codes as I assumed these might not be there with my continual restore actions As always any help would be appreciated in solving this frustrating problem Steve

A:Windows 7 wont start to user profile after MSE update of 3 April

MSE update 4.4.304.0 was installed on my computer on 13 Nov. 2013. The latest MSE update I have is 4.5.216.0 which was installed on 26 March 2014.
You could try uninstalling MSE & then download another copy from Microsoft & reinstall it. After uninstalling reboot your computer as it seems to help clearing the uninstall.
After reinstalling a lot of updates will get installed so hopefully it does not end up with the same problem as before.

That computer is probably infected.

I would click on Report and kindly ask to be moved to the Virus & Other Malware Removal forum. Be sure to provide the appropriate reports in that forum after reading THIS. From there, be patient. The malware removal experts are very busy! You should get an answer within the next 48 hours.

However, since this seems like a work computer, please read the following rule:

IMPORTANT NOTE REGARDING CORPORATE/COMPANY OWNED COMPUTERS

Please do not request assistance for corporate/company owned computers. Many changes/deletions are made during the clean up process, some of which may involve uninstalling programs, deleting folders/files, changing settings and/or removing policies etc. As we have no way of knowing for sure if these are actually needed for company operations, malware issues in these cases should be handled by your own IT Departments in order to avoid any undesirable results. After entering password, the following message pops up;

'The User Profile Service service failed the log on. User profile cannot be loaded'.

Selecting OK causes the computer to shut down only to restart almost immediately back at the password and the process repeats over again.

Computer is a Dell studio laptop with windows xp operating system.

On a w2k-sp4 pc, my booting process starts looping with "Loading your personal parameters" when it reaches "Recording your parameters". That's the point where you hear the jingle which goes on indefinitely.

Since it's inside the opening of the User Session, probably that my profile is somewhat corrupt.

Safe Mode leads to the same loop.

FYI, I can access w2k files through an XP I have on that pc operating in dual boot mode.

A:Tricky Windows XP User Account/Profile Transfer Problem

You can't modify an existing account that way. When using "FAST", you need to create the account you need first, then the files/settings will be transferred to that.
Start over, don't creat any dummy accounts, create the accounts required (I assume they have different names?). RUn the "FAST" in the newly created accounts.

A:Windows 7 Enterprise - User logs in with temporary profile - 3 different machines/no roaming profile?

Thanks.  She's working on the computer and does not logoff and back on quickly.  I just rechecked and there absolutely is not a .bak with her name.  On either computer.  I did find one for Temp and one for another user so now I have a
second user getting the profile issue.  I renamed that one and when the other user logged in, he got his profile.

Guess I will just re-image the computers although I'd like to figure it out but I don't have the spare time to waste and don't want my user to keep getting the temp profile.  My company won't pay for the support and frankly, in all the years I've
been in IT, I've never had MS resolve one issue for me.  Not worth paying for.  Oh well, thanks for your suggestions.  If I have time to devote to this and figure anything else out, I will post the answer.

A:Windows Cannot Load The User's Profile But Has Logged On With The Default Profile

Corruption of the user profile can be a pain to sort out, especially if it’s the index file that’s failed. SOMETIMES, however, simply logging off, leaving the computer at the ‘Press Ctrl+Alt+Del’ screen for about 30 seconds or so, then logging in as usual, can solve this without any further intervention, so I’d suggest giving that a go first.

Further suggestions are a bit more involved.

Log in as another user with administrative rights (such as Administrator) and then open the My Computer icon and navigate to the local hard disk and into the Documents and Settings folder. Look there for the folder which has the same name as the user who’s profile cannot be loaded and go into it. You may have to unhide hidden files and folders (from the Tools menu, select Folder Options and then the View tab, then, in the Advanced Settings box, under Hidden Files and Folders select ‘Show hidden files and folders’) and then locate the file NTUSER.DAT and rename it NTUSER.OLD, then log out, and back in as the failed user. This should replace the corrupted file and allow you to log back in.

If that fails for any reason, again, log in as another user with administrative rights (such as Administrator) and then open the My Computer icon and navigate to the local hard disk and into the Documents and Settings folder. Look there for the folder which has the same name as the user who’s profile cannot be loaded and rename the folder; usually here, I’d add .OLD to the end of the existing folder name, so if your user name is JOHNSMITH, change the folder name to JOHNSMITH.OLD. Then, log out and back in as the failed user. This will create a new profile for the user from scratch. Once successfully logged in, log out and back in as the Administrator user (or the user with admin rights that you logged in as before) and repeat the above steps, this time renaming the user’s folder .NEW, and then taking the .OLD off the folder you created last time, then log back in as the failed user again.

If that fails, then the quickest way to get back up and running is to take a new profile, and rebuild it manually back to how it used to be before it corrupted, so log back in as the user with local admin rights, rename the failed user’s existing folder .OLD, and remove the .NEW suffix from the other folder, then log back in as the failed user and move any local files from the <username>.OLD folder, into the new profile. Local files would include any shortcuts or folders from Desktop, as well as the ‘My Documents’ folder.

Hopefully, there should be something there that allows you to log back in successfully.

Sounds to me like something in one or more of the user profiles has gotten corrupted. you might have to delete one or more user accounts and then re create those accounts which should hopefully fix the corruption issue. I know u might not want to do that; but at this point i dont see any other choice to fix the problem.

A:Windows 7 - Genuine Issues Leading to Unable to Update/Install Windows

So, you`ve reinstalled windows 7, you`ve downloaded the network drivers from dell.com and installed them, and you`ve tried to activate windows with the key on your COA or the key from the system builder pack, and it will not activate ?

And you`re saying you went to BestBuy and they had a Windows 7 builder pack ????????

Amazing How much was that, if you don`t mind me asking ?

If you used that license it should say OEM System Builder, but yours says OEM SLP which means System Locked Pre-Installation. Are you sure you`re trying the right key from BestBuy ?

A:Windows 7 update fails and Windows not genuine message is appearing

That's a new set of errors to me!

Let's start with the basics....

Please run a full CHKDSK and SFC scan....

Click on Start > All Programs > Accessories
Right-click on the Command Prompt entry
Select Run as Administrator and accept the UAC prompt - the Elevated Command Prompt window should pop up.

At the Command prompt, type

CHKDSK C: /R

and hit the Enter key.
You will be told that the drive is locked,
and the CHKDSK will run at he next boot - hit the Y key, press Enter, and then reboot.

The CHKDSK will take a few hours depending on the size of the drive, so be patient!

After the CHKDSK has run, Windows should boot normally (possibly after a second auto-reboot) -
then run the SFC.

SFC -System File Checker - Instructions
Click on Start > All Programs > Accessories
Right-click on the Command Prompt entry
Select Run as Administrator and accept the UAC prompt - the Elevated Command Prompt window should pop up.

At the Command prompt, type

SFC /SCANNOW

and hit the Enter key

Wait for the scan to finish - make a note of any error messages - and then reboot.
Copy the CBS.log file created (C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log) to your desktop (you can't manipulate it directly) and then compress the copy and attach it to your reply
Please download and save the CheckSUR tool from http://support.microsoft.com/kb/947821
(you'll need to look in the details for Method 2)

Run it - The tool can take anywhere from 5 mins to a couple of hours to run (or 'Install') depending on how much it has to do, and may exit silently - it may appear to freeze for most of that time, but be patient.
The result is logged in the C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CheckSUR.log file - and an archive …\checksur.persist.log file

Then zip the CheckSUR.log and attach it to your reply.

Post a new MGADiag report with details of any error messages encountered.

Hi Folks,
A customer brought a faulty laptop to me to reinstall windows (Dell Precision M4800).
The laptop had some user profiles in it. So in a heat of the moment I just copied user profiles from

c:\users directory to USB-drive and Reinstalled Windows 7 as Windows was presenting numerous problems.

After installation I realized that I could have used a 3rd party software to migrate permissions etc.

Is there a way to copy old user profiles to newly installed windows such way that users could just log in and
everything would remain same? Or do I have to manually add old files to their profiles after they have logged?

Hello! First post on here, and I have seen several posts that are similar to my problem but not one exactly.

I recently installed some Windows Updates, after a reboot and Windows Configured after the updates, I log in to a Black Desktop, with nothing on it, no start button or anything with
"Windows 7 Build 7601 This copy of Windows is not genuine" In the right hand corner.

I purchased this copy legitimately almost 3 years ago and have done one major upgrade (2 years ago now).

I can't get to a prompt to run an MSDiagnostics.
(I have not had the time to try and boot into Safe mode or anything to see if I can get a prompt there).

After reading a similar thread, I am thinking it may be a damaged file as it froze during one of the updates and I had to perform a hard reboot.

Thanks so much!

A:Windows 7 Build 7601 Not Genuine After Windows Update

To properly analyse and solve problems with Activation and Validation, we need to see a full copy of the report produced by the MGADiag tool
(download and save to desktop - http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012 )
Once saved, run the tool.
Click on the Continue button, which will produce the report.
To copy the report to your response, click on the Copy button in the tool (ignore any error messages at this point), and then paste (using either r-click/Paste, or Ctrl+V ) into your response.
- **in your own thread**, please
Please also state the Version and Edition of Windows quoted on your COA sticker (if you have one) on the case of your machine (or inside the battery compartment), but do NOT quote the Key on the sticker!

This is really a head scratcher For the last couple of months while watching videos my XP Pro SP mochine will just Windows Gone Profile XP Bad User suddenly turn off In addition the video playback has been choppy and just horrible I've been using Chrome so I did what was recommended in Windows XP User Profile Gone Bad the forums and made sure I was using just one flash Windows XP User Profile Gone Bad player etc Windows XP User Profile Gone Bad All drivers are up to date system is tuned using Advanced System care etc etc etc This morning however while trying to make a very short minutes Camtasia video I couldn't get it to render System will shut down again and again and again So I logged in using a different user profile and everything is not only working fantatically in terms of video but response time is noticeably improved for everything that I do I know I can go create a new user profile and copy the settings etc but things like this are very disturbing and wondering if anyone has any insight and expertise about this I'd like to repair the profile if possible just to say I did it but I guess it's ultimately one of those Microsfot features we all have to live with unfortunately Anyways any opinions on this would be appreciated Dan

A:Windows XP User Profile Gone Bad

The other thing that concerns me is that if I do create a new user profile, then how do I know I'm just not copying the problem over from the old profile to the new profile? Without knowing the cause of the issue is this a risk? Certainly sounds like it's registry related but that's just a guess.

Okay here s the Windows in XP User profile situation When I reformat my hard drive the computer automatically creates a profile called quot Owner quot There s no way to change it when first setting things User profile in Windows XP up So when it s done formatting and everything I just create a new one titled quot Tsula quot and then delete the owner one For some reason when I go to view C Documents and Settings Tsula is says that access User profile in Windows XP is denied and I noticed that there is another folder called quot Tsula Tsulabun quot in the Documents and Settings folder That quot Tsulabun quot part being the name for my computer Any ideas Edit I looked into the Tsula Tsulabun folder and it LOOKS like everything that is supposed to be in the quot Tsula quot folder is in the quot Tsulabun quot folder But me being picky I can t have it like that And it won t let me do anything to either folder

A:User profile in Windows XP

Owner...is the XP default settting when doing an install...on my systems. The Docs & Settings folders under such are the ones I use (I'm the Admin and sole user of my systems).

I guess that I'm not sure what your complaint is.

I am troubleshooting a users's LT again for this issue the profile created does not load and it loads a default temp profile The error messages I noticed in Event Log is User Profile Services Event ID Cannot load user's profile but has logged you on with default profile I noticed in the C Users folder there were a few different folders created in addition to the users correct profile folder There were user domain name user domain name user correct original folder Temp domain name I tried to rename the issue Profile bit 7 64 User Windows newly created temp folders but Windows 7 64 bit User Profile issue every time i'd reboot hoping it will associate user logging in with the correct user folder it would load a new temp folder I checked a few websites on technet link from Brooks-bilson deleting the bak file in the registry and other tech forums but none resolved this When this happened before I recreated the users profile and configured the users appropriate settings But now that it has happened a second time i'm not sure where to look and how this is happening What I did try and seemed to work for the time being is in RegEdit go to HKEY LOCAL MACHINE SOFTWARE Microsoft Windows NT CurrentVersion ProfileList S- - to view the current temp profile created and change the path in ProfileImagePath to the correct folder instead of c users user domain name - gt changed to c users user After setting that I rebooted the computer and the correct profile loaded Now with that solution I don't know if this is going to happen again but do you folks know of any other methods and or reasoning to this I obviously cannot call MS because they are going to charge a ridiculous fee Or should I give it a try and reformat this computer Windows Pro -bit Symantec Endpoint HP Elite Book w

A:Cant load my user profile on windows

Hi Rahuzery and welcome to TSF !

What was the last thing you did before this problem happened ?

Are you able to see your user folder in the c:\documents and settings\ folder ? See if you can access your documents using the administator account in safe mode : repeatedly press the F8 key when the computer starts and choose safe mode in the menu that will appear. Log as the administrator and leave the password field blank if you didn't set any.

If your files appear to be safe, rigt-click the c: drive => properties => tools => error-checking. Tick both boxes and restart the computer if needed. Report if it finds any errors on the drive.

Once your hard drive has been checked for errors see if starting normally allows you to access your user profile. If not then restart the computer, press F8 and choose "last known good config" in the menu that will appear. See how it goes.

If for some reason your user folder is not there then turn the computer off and refrain from using it anymore. You can recover most of your data as long as nothing overwrites it. Using another computer build the Ultimate Boot CD for Windows. Boot your computer on this CD (set the boot order priority to CD-rom first in the BIOS) and use one of the recovery tools (free undelete for instance) to recover your data. Don't save the recovered files to the c: drive or it will overwrite the data you haven't recovered yet. Instead save it to another partition or preferably on an external USB drive.

Some things arent working so well anymore in my current User Profile it is a local account with administrator privileges so want to to 10: user move a Windows profile new I I decided to create a new one and basically make that my main one transfer all data over and then delete this one Now the way I figured it for the contents of my Windows 10: I want to move to a new user profile personal files folders like Documents Pictures Videos Music and Downloads all I need to do is cut the content from my current C Users Currentprofilename folder and paste them into the respective folders of the same name located in C Users Newprofilename Same counts for the contents of the Desktop folder obviously Windows 10: I want to move to a new user profile But the complicated part is moving the contents of the hidden AppData folder which contains the Local LocalLow and Roaming folders I understand these contain the installation directories for many games and programs that I have installed and contain personal user settings as well Can I just move them over after deleting the AppData folder of the new profile first I tried and I kept getting certain issues like quot file is in use cant be moved quot or quot file not found quot What am I doing wrong

I am working on my office computer which is on the company's domain, that means any number of users can login to the same system using there domain account, with every account there is a user profile that is associated with that account, however one of my co-colleauge successfully login using her domain account, however i do not see her user profile being created, i remember deleting her user profile from c:\users and from registry as well in the profile list a while ago..that means when the next time she will login, a new user profile should have been created, which obviously is not happening?

On top of that i don't see her profile as a temporary one..i am perplexed..

Here I got a problem to copy user profile. i just recently setup a new server on Windows 2000 Server, assigned a new domain name as well. My workstation is using Win2K pro. How do I copy my user profile (saved in local machine) under the old domain to the new domain. I found that "Copy to" button was grey out if I tried to copy to my local admin account. I also notice that once if remove my workstation from the old domain and join the new one, my user profile under old domain will be set to unknown/"username", that means you cannot copy the whole profile from your local machine to new username under new domain.

Is there any alternative way to accomplish this issue?

Thanks!

Sometimes Windows craps itself and can't find your profile, and then loads a temp profile. Make sure you are viewing Hidden files and folders With a Flash drive, copy these files from your old profile My Documents, Desktop, Favorites. the browse to C:Documents and Settings/username/Local Settings/Application Data/Microsoft/Outlook. Log in as Administrator and delete your old profile and create a new one. Copy back all the file to you new profile. In Outlook go to Tools/Options/Mail Setup/Data Files and add the .pst file from the Outlook folder you backed up.

Restart your computer, and press the F8 key while it is rebooting. Once you are at the Advanced Boot Options Screen, click on the 'Last Known Good Configuration' then click enter.

Also if the Last Known Good Configuration didn't work. Boot into Safe Mode, then see if you can get to the desktop with the registry export. Then go to search, and type regedit then under File click Import.

This concerns my mother's 2-year-old Toshiba laptop. My mother says that sometimes she is suddeny thrown out of her computer - when she is on the internet, or reading her e-mails etc.- whatever she is doing is interrupted without warning by a Windows Update screen telling her to wait and that Windows Update is updating her computer. Then the computer shuts down/reboots. And my mother has to start anew with whatever she was doing. Is this a Windows Update setting thing? My mother says that she has had this problem from the very start (she thinks so at least).

A:Solved: Windows Update problem: user is kicked out of system during installation

Update: okay, I checked my mother's laptop myself. It seems that there is a Windows Update feature my own laptop doesn't have: after downloading the updates, a nagging Windows Update box with a sort of timer/countdown function appears, asking whether the computer should be restarted, or the installation of the updates postponed. If neither of these options are chosen, then it will reboot automatically in 5 minutes. So...how do I get rid of that pesky box?

I've quite some Windows machines in my home network running XP Professional, Win7 Professional, Premium and Starter. Since about two weeks, EVERY system is complaining occasionally about local profiles that cannot be found after switching user (or on Starter, logging off and logging on to another user). The exact message is 'Windows cannot find the local profile and is logging you on with a temporary profile'. Only by rebooting I'm able to get into my original profile.

Since I have seen this multiple times on XP, Win7 Starter and Win7 Professional, and only since about two weeks, this rather points to some 'fix' that I received with Windows Update. At least I can not imagine another reason. Does anyone have this problem too?

I hope that I am not posting a duplicate question, but I am having some problems with the setup of a new Windows 7 PC. I am ordering new PC's for my company, and all are comming with Windows 7 now. Before, on my Windows XP PC's, I could easily setup a profile and get the settings exactly how I wanted them, then, copy that profile over the default profile. After that, anyone that logged in to the PC would have the settings that I set in the "new default" profile. I am not able to do this in Windows 7 and was hoping that someone could help me figure out how to setup a default user profile. I would really appreciate any help on this.

Thanks!!

Hello Everyone on the forum We have set up an ICT Computer Lab and installed official Windows Professional Bit OS in a Core i Computer with the purpose to teach ICT Computers to Children studying in grade to IGCSE Cambridge board Our set up is as follows - Set up - Windows Server Computers connected to server domain having OS windows professional bit port Switch for LAN networking etc Observation What we have observed in last months forces me to ask a question in this forum because this matter is causing a lot of issue in normal day to day functioning Every time a new user profile of s student is created even if Windows OS was updated just hours back Updates user profile? OS Pro- new for separately 10 each Windows for a different old user the system starts updating windows OS all over again for this new user profile Question - Does this mean that Windows Pro OS maintains its OS and updates separately and individually for each user profile If Yes - Is there a way where we can configure the OS in a way where it updates commonly for all users including those that may be created in future Kindly do share your experience and knowledge for me to understand this scenario Thanks Pinesh Mehta

I was just in Windows Explorer, planning to modify my Startup programs. Navigated to "C:/ Windows7_OS / Users" and right-clicked on my User Profile "william viera". From the right-click menu, I selected "Properties", and then on the "General" tab, there is a checkbox under Attributes called "Hidden". I thought, "oh great, I will check this and then I will be able to see all of my hidden files". NOT!!!

I selected "Hidden", and clicked "Apply"... crap. Now my User Profile "william viera" is hidden, and I cannot figure out how to unhide it. Everything associated with my User Profile is now hidden... application shortcuts, My Favorites, etc...

Can anyone tell me how to "Un-Hide" my User Profile? (you don't need to tell me I am an idiot... I already figured that o

A:windows 7 creating temp user profile

No idea whether this will work, somebody sent me the "fix" for some problems with temporary user profiles, I haven't tried it, but it's doubtless worth having a look at if you are having such problems;

User Profile Error - Logged on with a Temporary Profile - Vista Forums

1. Login using another local administrator account. (Make one if there isnt another).
2. Remove the corrupted user from Users in control panel.
3. Move the corresponding folder from the Documents and Settings (XP) or Users folder (Vista and Windows7) to the desktop of the newly created admin user?s desktop.
4. Open regedit and navigate to HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList Find the key on the left that corresponds to the corrupted profile. Note the value of the string on the right called GUID. Delete all keys that list the corrupt user profile (.bak versions and regular).
5. THIS IS THE STEP THAT NEEDS TO BE ADDED TO KB:
Go up a few lines in regedit to HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileGuid.
6. Delete the key (keys?) within this ProfileGuid folder that match the value of the GUID string that you noted above.
7. Restart PC
8. Login as the temporarily created admin profile. Go to control panel and recreate the corrupted profile. (Make it an administrator at least temporarily so you?ll be able to access the files we moved to the other admin?s desktop if needed).
9. Logout and login as fixed user.
10. Copy any files from the temp admin?s desktop where we copied the corrupted profiles data, into the appropriate places in the fixed profile. This includes My Documents,Favorites, Outlook data, and any other user data you need.
11. Once everything is working properly, you can remove the temp admin from control panel> Users and delete its folder.MAKE SURE YOU HAVE ALL OF THE DATA YOU NEED BEFORE REMOVING THE TEMP ADMIN.

When I try to log onto a user account it logs me into this screen on a temporary profile.

This same problem happened about 1-2 months ago on the first user profile on the computer. My cousin and I searched google and all we could find was deleting 1 of 2 registries or something along those lines, we tried and it didn't work. Since the problem seemed like a one in a million shot, we eventually settled on copying the contents of the other user profile into a new user profile through the hidden administrator account. We just used that account instead. The other account is still on the computer as well and I need help fixing the problem.

I would use the event log as stated by the bubble, but I don't know how to use it.

I am the project coordinator for an internet/computer program for seniors at a senior center. I just set up a new computer donated by IBM in our lab. It has windows 2000. For the last 2 weeks Windows has been automatically logged onto administrator. I just created a new user profile for the seniors because I don't want them to accidently mess up our settings. This gives them a whole new desktop. I want to know how to make this guest user profile the default that automatically comes up when the computer is turned on so the seniors do not have to remember a password. I also need to get an internet connection set up on their desktop, but when in the guest account I cannot set up an internet connection through the connection wizard. Can anybody help?

Hello I had taken apart and dusted my PC yesterday and upon starting it back up my main profile seems to be corrupt When I attempt to log into it Windows places me into (profile corrupted) user Temporary 7 Windows a temporary user instead I have wracked the internet for solutions and tried almost everything I have come across This includes -Changing the registry values for the correct profile removing Windows 7 Temporary user (profile corrupted) bak and restarting PC -Deleting the registry value for the correct profile and restarting the PC to attempt to recreate the profile It still logged me into a temporary -Copying the entire profile without hidden user files residing in main user folder like ntuser dat log ini to a new profile and restarted PC -Running a chkdsk in safemode did not fix anything along with a sfc scannow afterwards I have come to the end of my rope I do not know or understand what needs to be done at this point to restore my profile I desperately need all the files on my profile and drive so I do not wish to reformat my PC The only next possible step I can see for myself is make a copy of the profile I am trying to save and then delete the original from the users folder Then I would restart the computer and try to log into that account so that it is remade and paste the old contents of the profile into the newly made same profile However I am unsure of what results this would yield so I am afraid of going through with it I m capable of providing any information about my machine or things I have or have yet to try I am so ready to solve this issue but disheartened from numerous failures Thank you Robby nbsp

1. Computer Boots up to user profiles screen.
2. When I select my profile, the password prompt box does not appear and instead flashes a black screen and returns to the main user profiles screen.
3. I have tried booting up in safe mode but I still have the problem of no password prompt box showing.

I hope there is a fix for this - Thanks in anticipation

Admin account worked fine on Monday.  The kid used her (non-admin) account in the meantime.  Now it won't log into the admin account - "The User Profile Service failed the logon. User profile cannot be loaded."  I've read a few other boards on this issue, so I am now doing a thorough virus scan and will include results as soon as they're available.  But I am not confident about moving forward with any of the paths I've seen laid out, and some of them don't apply if you can't access the admin account anyway, so I wanted to start a thread here (I've gotten fabulous help here several times before).  It's running Vista Home Premium SP2.  AVG 2013 Internet Security.  Can't think what other specs may be relevant, but am happy to provide whatever would be of use.  Thanks!!

A:User Profile svc failed logon. User profile can't be loaded." on admin acct.

I got the same message when attempting to login on Windows 7, after no previous problems or changes before shutdown the night before. It continued to loop back to the logon screen even after rebooting. I ended up having to log on in Safe Mode, then do a system restore to restore back to the last restore point, which was a system checkpoint a couple of days earlier. That fixed it, and I've had no problems since. I hope that helps.

Hello

When I tried to log on to administrator account on vista laptop this morning I got the following error massage "The User Profile Service failed the logon. User profile cannot be loaded." I did some research and found a potential solution: The User Profile Service failed the logon. User profile cannot be loaded.

However the problem is that the solution needs a working administrartor account and the only account I'm able to log in is a standard one with no power to change account type or boot into admin safe mode/ do a command prompt whatsoever.

Would anyone happen to have an alternative solution that doesn't require an admin account to fix this?

So I got a BSOD whilst playing Battlefield 2 last night, actually the fourth BSOD of the day, and my Windows installation failed to boot, giving me a 0x7b stop error.

Now I've tried allsorts to fix this, such as CHKDSK and FIXMBR. Now after performing these steps I was promted with a corrupted Hal.dll, so I installed a new copy of windows to a 500GB drive and copied the Hal.dll over from there. However, I was again promted with the 0x7b stop error.

So, my current situation. I've decided just to go to the neww install of Windows 7 and copy my profile and settings over. Now in the past I've done this dozens of times using the Windows Easy Transfer Wizard, but unfortunatley I don't have an up to date backup of my profile.

So, do any of the microsoft guru's have a solution for this please?

A:Recovering user profile/settings from corrupted windows....

There is no reason to copy hal.dll to a new Windows 7 installation.

Wipe the HDD with KillDisk then install Windows 7.

Upon reaching desktop, allow Windows Updates in - www.update.microsoft.com

Then validate your Windows 7 OS - www.microsoft.com/genuine

I scanned unsing My antivirus, and it turned up no bad results. I then tried a disk check, but it only was on for less then 5 seconds when it just said "the disk is clean." i'm not sure what to do now. any suggestions? it's really irritataing having to constantly reboot every time i turn my laptop on.

I have two HDD, 1) 200GB and the 2) 80GB, I have windows xp installed on both. None of the two windows have logon password and each windows has one account only, plus the guest account.

I used the winodws Xp in the 80GB to take ownership of the user profile in Documents and Setting that is in the 200GB HDD, now I booted the computer with the 200GB HDD and it doesn't load the original user profile it made a new one.

So now I have two profiles in one user account:

Say the original profile is named A and the new one is named B, I want to delete B and make windows load A.

Thanks

A:how can I make windows load a specific user profile?

Hi JustinK. . .

Some clarification, please...

1. Did you install the SAME XP OS on both (using the same product code)?
2. Is your intent to have one HDD mirror the other?
3. Did you use an Admin account to take ownership of the user profile in the "Documents and Settings" on the 200GB HDD?
4. What is the purpose for taking ownership?
5. Can these 2 HDD's see each other and are they interactive with each other?
6. Do they each have an independant system registry, if you know?

Thanks. . .

- the system default font has changed

I tried to follow these instructions by Brink: User Profile Service failed the sign-in - Fix in Windows 8
but the problem is, I dont see any .bak keys in the folders he mentioned. Plus, I don't get any errors like "User Profile Service failed the sign-in" per se, so I'm quite hesitant to apply this fix to my problem.

I am having the same issues on my friends computer. He asked me to solve it, but I am stumped. I can't figure out what I can accomplish if I can't even get into a profile (in normal or safe mode). Any ideas?

howdy all i'd much appreciate special re-create 7??? Windows of in How User Profile the object to any kind advice regarding this very small but not-easy-to-solve tech issue as follows well there is a number of similar objects of every User Profile of Win like Recent PrintHood NetHood SendTo etc - always living in 'C Users user name ' folder all these objects look like folders but with shortcut mark on their icons so those are neither the standard Windows folders nor the standard Windows shortcuts well it's like a folder with shortcut i e link function actually which always links to the same name full size folder located in another place of User Profile so now I'm keen interested on how to create back such How to re-create the special object in User Profile of Windows 7??? special object named 'Recent' that was first damaged by a not good cleaning software and then manually deleted by mistake Note of course i know that the full size folder connected to this special object has a default location as C Users user name AppData Roaming Microsoft Windows Recent and there is no any problem with this folder in my case it's alive and ok Note also I keep an understanding that it's not so difficult to repair my current User Profile by a creation of a new user profile and this special shell object will be likely created along with other default components of this new profile and then copy my curent profile files into the new profile and finally delete the old one well although i believe the technique of Note as pretty complicated for such small and not critical issue and hope that IT pros will kindly advise me a better way to solve this because i like the function of this particular shell object or maybe it's better say Windows shell link and wanna get it back i hope to hearing something soon thank you kind regards p s i happened to partly restore this object by copying the 'Recent' object from Default User Profile but in this case after copying this object becomes the full size Windows folder which comes out to be a full copy of its genuine alter ego C Users user name AppData Roaming Microsoft Windows Recent but only for the moment of its creation i e without self-updating only my recent items listed in genuine folder at the moment of creation of this new Recent folder are listed there plus along with all useless contents of this genuine folder as 'AutomaticDestinations' and 'CustomDestinations' system service folders and this is surely very inconvenient and absolutely not same as it was with my original 'Recent' object which was showing all recent items including all recent files amp folders with real time updaing of their list but without system service folders p p s btw does anybody know what's the official MS name for such object in-between folder and shortcut lnk p p p s please help i've posted the same question at MS TechNet yesterday How to re-create the special object in User Profile of Windows but there is no any comment yet

Hello laidbacktokyo,

Actual your Recent folder should be named Recent Items instead.

For this Recent Items folder, you might see if the blue Note box at the top of the tutorial below may be able to help with this.

Recent Items - Turn On or Off

Hope this helps,
Shawn

A:User accounts profile randomly lost in windows 7

No update or fix that I am aware.  Normally if I have a user that is consistently getting a temporary profile I recreate their profile.
Restart the computer.
Log in with an account that has administrative access.
Rename the user’s profile, C:\Users\%UserName%, with a .OLD extension.
Run REGEDIT.
Browse to: Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Profielist
You will want to be looking at the longer entries.
Verify the correct entry by looking at the ProfileImagePath value
Delete the key that contains the user’s ProfileImagePath
Reboot the machine.
Have the user log in, a new profile will be created.
Copy user’s data, (Desktop, Favorites, My Documents, etc.) from the profile you renamed in step 3.
When I have recreated the profile I have not had the user return with the Temporary Profile issue.

I have a domain user who's machine keeps creating a new profile named username.domain name (example: joan smith.ABC ) when she logs in.

I tried deleting the new profile (joan smith.ABC) but when she logged in again it created the file again. It doesn't want to look at the old profile (joan smith).

I tried copying her desktop, favorites, and documents to the new profile, deleting the old one and remaining the new one just her username but it created another new one.

A:Solved: Windows XP creates a new user profile on login.

Found this on another board and it seems to have fixed it.

Login as administrator. When your creating a new profile because an old one is corrupt, rename the old profile to userbackup (or whatever) to a backup location. Then delete every profile for that user on the computer. Have the user log back in log back out. This will create their new profile location in My Documents and Settings. According to Microsoft you can import the whole folder that you backed up into the new profile except for three files:

Ntuser.dat
Ntuser.dat.log
Ntuser.ini

Make sure these files are not copied to the new profile or you will have the same corrupt profile problem again.

Additionally to clear up any misconceptions about how the user profile creation works read the following...

1. User logs in.
2. A new folder for their profile is created based on their login name.
3. That user's SID (Security ID; unique to that users account) is recorded in the registry, along with the path of where that users profile is stored.
4. If the users profile for example, USER, is already taken it will create USER.DOMAIN, where domain is the domain you are connected to.
5. If USER.DOMAIN is already being used, it will create a new profile called USER.DOMAIN.000 and so on.
It is important to check the registry path for that user also after you have changed recreated their profile so that it is pointing to the right place, as sometimes this does not change when they login and a new profile is created.

It can be found at:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList

That is where the SID's are stored in the registry. There is a key in there for each SID called ProfileImagePath where it will show you where that profile is stored on the computer.

A:Printing suddenly not working in Windows 7 in user profile.

Hi -What happens if you simply use Internet Explorer instead of Chrome or Firefox browsers ??I always use print preview with I.E. as this is printer program enabled, not Operating System and have no problems on XP or Windows7 units. Also are you using the Admin account ??What make and model of Printer and Computer please -

I ve been tampering with Windows trying to determine what I can customize and what apps I can strip from it without getting in trouble often this requires me to rebuild the user profile The machine is on a Windows domain so my typical process would involve deleting the profile from c users lt profilename gt and then from the ProfileList in the registry unfortunately this doesn t seem to fully restore the trashed profile Windows remembers something about that trashed profile such as which apps were removed and then that carries over when you try to login after deleting links to the old profile I now the changes 10? domain profile user Properly Windows in re-building I made were user-centric since I can login with a profile I ve not yet used and all the apps are in that profile tl dr Windows is remembering things about old domain user profiles Properly re-building domain user profile in Windows 10? even after going through the standard process of rebuilding the profile I need to figure out how to completely wipe the user profile and the app associations so it rebuilds more completely nbsp

A:Properly re-building domain user profile in Windows 10?

You should be deleting the profile from System->Advanced System Settings->Advanced tab ->User Profile Settings rather than the way you listed.

*Edit* Clarified how to access the screen.

Dear forums,

Yesterday, my laptop shut down due to lack of power during Windows startup. This event messed up what appears to be my User Profile. Link to the administrative events: View image: user profile service

Symptoms:
- all my custom windows settings are gone
- the start menu is empty with no icons whatsoever
- the system default font has changed

I tried to follow these instructions by Brink: User Profile Service failed the sign-in - Fix in Windows 8

but the problem is, I dont see any .bak keys in the folders he mentioned. Plus, I don't get any errors like "User Profile Service failed the sign-in" per se, so I'm quite hesitant to apply this fix to my problem.

My configuration: Windows 8.1, 64Bit
Laptop: Asus G74sx

Perhaps you have some ideas ? I'm quite desperate by now

Regards,

Jan

Hello,
I have windows 7 ultimate and think my registry has been damaged. I was on my computer and there were some windows updates that were going to be updated. I hit the postpone button and then my mouse wasn't working. So I hit the restart button and I saw some message on the Windows 7 welcome screen say some about the registry. When Windows loaded, quite a few of my icons were gone and files that I had downloaded within the last day or so. When I go to start the menu is completely blank aside from all programs

I've tried the following.
Last known good configuration
log into safe mode (no difference)
uninstall the Windows updates (no difference)
System restore wasn't enabled

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!
Brian
