I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Right, I hope I can get my problem across clearly as i've tried following many threads in different forums and at the moment i've had no luck...

I'm posting the thread due to the error code 9C48 which I get trying to update IE11 through windows. The first thing that came to mind is uninstalling IE.

1. I've looked under the View installed updates for 'Windows Internet Explorer' and couldn't find it.
2. I've tried uninstalling via command prompt and was unsuccessful (followed this step off a different thread).

Can someone help me with this?? I should mention i'm completely new to this so I need some good help

Hello all,

First of all thanks a lot for this forum and its helpful and devoted members.
So here I am, with the terrible "9C48 code: windows update has encountered an unknown error" (sorry for the approximate translation...).
The update I'm trying to install is "Internet Explorer 11 for Windows 7 for processor x64 computers" (58,4 Mo).
Although I already use Internet explorer 11.0.9600.17280, there's still, according to Windows update, an update to do but which fails every time I try.
I run a fresh clean new install (just formatted my computer), tried WindowsUpdateDiagnostic, Microsoft Fix it, System Update Readiness Tool (SURT) and SFC Scan.
Enclosed the CBS.zip, though there are several "CbsPersist_2014xxxxxxxxxx.zip" I had to delete as the file was too big to upload :-/
As my friend Georges would say, what else? Thanks for your help !

There's no obvious problems in the background data from the CBS.log file, or CBSPersist file.

Please post the C:\Windows\windowsupdate.log file, and we'll se what that has to say.

Hello all,

I've been fixing up a laptop for a laptop that has had one problem after another. I'm working with an ASUS G51VX.

It was riddled with spyware and adware. After cleaning it was still pretty slow, found out it had a failing HDD. Replaced the HDD and still slow. I pretty much have it at a tollerable start up time but I cannot get it to complete the last of it updates (see title)

I've run SURT and it installed one hotfix, KB947821. Assuming that fixed it I ran the update again and still failed.

SFC says it found corrupt files and successfully repaired them. Attached is the log (I only zipped CBS.log because the folder itself is 15GB).

I have an update "Windows Explorer 9 for Windows 7" update which terminates with the error code 9C48.
I have looked at a lot of fixes on the Web & this Forum and none seem to work.

I have tried the Command line prompt -:FORFILES /P %WINDIR%\servicing\Packages /M Microsoft-Windows-InternetExplorer-*9.*.mum /c "cmd /c echo Uninstalling package @fname && start /w pkgmgr /up:@fname /norestart"

Also
"Control Panel/Programs/Progs & Features/Installed Update " but get a msg "Error Occured"

I have also tried the "Fix it" but get "Access Denied" although I have Administrator Status

IE 9 seems to be working ok but I am concerned I may not be getting security updates.

Any Help would be appreciated

Hello,

This is a Win7-64bit SP1 fully patched, except for IE11 not yet installed.

I have tried the standalone 64-bit installer (IE11-Windows6.1-x64-en-us) to no avail.

I would love to upload the entire CBS folder but it creates a ZIP larger than the allowed 8M. Therefore, I am including only the CheckSUR.log file.

Thanks!

Hello mystvearn

Sorry you seem to have been missed. Have you checked the Prerequisites before installing IE9 - Prerequisites for installing Internet Explorer 9 and also here - Troubleshoot problems when you cannot install Internet Explorer 9.
Also run the system file checker just incase there are any system errors - SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker.

It may also be worth trying the offline installer from here - Download Details - Microsoft Download Center - Windows Internet Explorer 9 for Windows 7 64-bit Edition and Windows Server 2008 R2 64-bit Edition

A:WU Error 9c48 when installing IE10

Your CheckSUR report looks as if every possible Winning Component Key for IE10 has gone missing.

I don't think there's anything we can do by way of a manual repair for this number of this type of error - we'll have to try removing all the bits of IE10 that are currently sitting there, and then see if we can reinstall it.

Open an Elevated Command Prompt and copy the following command into it:

Code:

FORFILES /P %WINDIR%\servicing\Packages /M Microsoft-Windows-InternetExplorer-*10.*.mum/c "cmd /c echo Uninstalling package @fname && start /w pkgmgr/up:@fname /quiet /norestart

.
and then press Enter.

Wait for the command to finish and the prompt to return, then restart the machine.

Run the CheckSUR tool again and post the new log.

Here are some instructions to make lifeeasier

1) To open an Elevated Command Prompt Window (the ECP window), click on Start, All Programs,Accessories – then right-click on Command Prompt, and select Run asAdministrator. Accept the UAC prompt.

2) To run the commands easier, highlight the block of commands, and right-click on thehighlight – select Copy. In the CP Window, click on the black/white icon at topleft – select Paste. The commands will run but may not complete the lastcommand, so hit the Enter Key once.

3) To copy the results... click on the Black/White icon in the top left, and select Edit...'Select All', and hit the Enter key - then use Ctrl+V or r-click+Paste to pasteit into your response.

4. Now you have to type "Services.msc" command in “Run” to open the Administrator Tools' Services panel.
5. Now find the "Windows Module Installer" service entry. If it’s status is 'disabled' then right click the entry and choose 'Properties' and change the startup state to 'Manual', click 'Apply' and then 'OK'.
6. Restart your computer.

I get this error trying to install "Internet Explorer 11 for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems"

I already have IE 11 installed and running properly, so I know it's stuck somewhere.
I followed the Windows Update Posting Instructions post before starting this thread, so I have run the System Update Readiness Tool and System File Checker. I'm attaching the CBS zip file.

Oh, and this system is running Windows 7 Home Premium. My system specs are for a different computer.

A:IE10 Update Failed - Error 9C48

Both CheckSUR and SFC are free of problems - so we'll have to look elsewhere.

It may be a case of attempting to rip IE10 out by the roots...
command line uninstall IE10 on W7 may help with that.

Please post the C:\Windows\windowsupdate.log file and all IE*.log files

I managed to fix most of the checksur errors (there was 8 in the beginning) on my own but now I am stuck.
Anyway I am on Windows 7 SP1 32 bit, I have run checksur and then sfc and uploaded the CBS folder with the logs.
Thanks in advance

Hello, I have just reinstalled Windows 7 Starter on my Asus Netbook. I have spent yesterday installing updates and there is one update that is giving trouble.

It is the update for IE11 for Win 7. It fails with the error code: 9C48

The only third party programs I've installed is Chrome

The CBS.zip file is over 9MB so the forum will not allow me to post it. The result from sfc /scannow was:

Code:
Beginning system scan. This process will take some time.

Beginning verification phase of system scan.
Verification 100% complete.

Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations.
I could upload the zip to dropbox or Google Drive if that would help. Thanks in advance.

Edit: I've uploaded the CBS zip to google drive. Link here:

I am running Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium x64 SP1 and everytime I try to install IE11 from Windows update it gives me the 9C48 error. I've tried downloading and installing the IE 11 standalone installer but it keeps giving an error that "Setup cannot continue because a more recent version of Internet Explorer is installed on your computer".

I have been searching Google and these forums and I noticed people attach their CBS and checkSUR logs after running sfc /scannow, so I am doing that as well in hopes of someone being able to help.

I have tried so many different fixes, CheckSUR, subinacl, MS Hot fixes, uninstalling IE11 etc. I hope someone is able to help. Thanks in advance for your help.

HI all,

Just registered after seeing a similar thread on here to the issue I have.

I have a laptop with 7 Home premium 64 bit SP1 that is up to date with the exception of an IE9 update that refuses to install at all.

Have tried various different methods but to no avail including attempting to remove IE9 and then try a reinstall.

Uninstall hasn't been possible. Any help would be much appreciated.

I got error code 9c48 when trying to install the important update for IE9. Not only has the update failed, but it has caused IE9 to be inoperable, resulting in NO browser. I can't seem to find any solution. Please help.

A:IE9 Update Failed - Error code 9c48

Try a system integrity scan
RUN > CMD > SFC /SCANNOW

Also try using firefox to access the net, then uninstall IE & download to install IE9 again.

You can try rolling back to your previous ver as well.

I ran Windows Update and there is an update for IE 9, but when I try to install it I get error code 9c48. I have tried every fix on the net to repair this, but to no avail. I have tried to uninstall IE9 and reinstall, but there is no update for IE9 in my installed updates. I have run sft / scannow and tried to fix the dll. I also have cleaned the registry and repaired the .net framework and 6-8 hours later. Still no IE, still no update.

I don't care about the update as long as I have a working version of Internet Explorer on my machine. Please help! I also have attached the .txt document of the cbs/logs with the erros from the scannow command.

Please help! Thanks.

A:Error Code 9c48 when installing IE9 Update Win 7

Please try out this fix. It may solve this problem or error.

1. First of all close all programs which are running on your computer and restart the Windows.
2. When Windows have started then click on the “Start” button and then click on the “All programs”
3. Now click on the “Accessories” and after that click on the “Run”.

You should be able to update your internet Explorer 9(ie9) without any error message popping up on the screen.

Hope this helps. Good luck.

Hi there, Need some help getting some updates that won't update. This is for installing IE10 (which is funny because I'm already running IE 10) and then installing IE 11.

Downloaded the System Update Readiness Tool and installed it

Completed a SFC scan (no problems detected)

Ran the windows update repair tool

Nothing made a difference.

I need to do some research to work out how to approach this - but in the meantime, I think a CHKDSK would be a good idea...

Click on Start > All Programs > Accessories
Right-click on the Command Prompt entry
Select Run as Administrator and accept the UAC prompt - the Elevated Command Prompt window should pop up.

At the Command prompt, type
CHKDSK C: /R
and hit the Enter key.

You will be told that the drive is locked,
and the CHKDSK will run at he next boot - hit the Y key, and then reboot.
The chkdsk will take a few hours depending on the size of the drive, so be patient!
After the CHKDSK has run, Windows should boot normally (possibly after a second auto-reboot) -

The results can be found in the Event Viewer - as an event from the WININIT source, in the Windows Logs > Applications folder.
Copy and paste the results to your reply

I have a new laptop running Win Pro SP -bit as its operating system It came with IE I've been applying the failure IE11 Another Error - 9C48 Code Update dozens of Windows updates that keep showing up and they all seemed to apply successfuly until I reached the IE update upgrade That's when things got weird -It kept saying that it had failed with an error code of C -If I restarted it tried to reinstall the update which failed and then when I would re-run Windows Update it would show the IE update as an important pending update to be applied -However when I would launch IE and check the quot About IE quot info it showed that I was running IE not IE It was as if it was sort of installed but not fully Through internet searching I stumbled on a couple of your threads I hadn't read the warning about quot don't try acting on advice given to another user quot yet so I tried some of the suggestions as follows - I installed and ran the System Update Readiness Tool The CheckSUR and CheckSURpersist logs both show quot no errors detected quot -I ran System File Checker sfc scannow and the result was that quot Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations quot If Another IE11 Update failure - Error Code 9C48 I had known about quot verify only quot I would have run that but this was my first exposure to this tool -I doublechecked a list of IE update prerequisites and it looked to me as though all the required updates were installed Here's where I got brave or foolhardy -When I scanned some of my logs I found some comments about quot newer version already installed quot -I followed the instructions for manually uninstalling IE that I found on the MSDN blog site through a link I found in your Oct thread on this error -I also made sure to change my Windows Update settings so no updates would try to auto install -I overlooked and therefore did NOT do the additional step recommended in your October thread the one that reads as follows quot Start an Elevated Command Prompt Type in pressing enter after each line cd quot userprofile Desktop quot IE Update exe update-no Allow the installation to complete Restart your computer when done quot Current status -My version of IE is back to being IE and it appears to be working normally -Windows Update is offering me downloads for IE and IE as quot important quot and IE as quot optional I have not applied any of these updates -I have applied all other Windows updates offered to date but I check first to see what they are I need to know what I should do next - the appropriate steps and their sequence -do I need to do the last step from the October thread described above -do I have to install IE and then IE before installing IE -what else do I need to do I want to get Windows and IE settled down so I can proceed with installing other programs as I migrate from my old laptop The machine came with the OS preinstalled and so far all I've added are Norton and Firefox Thanks

A:Another IE11 Update failure - Error Code 9C48

Here are some of my log files - CheckSUR, CheckSURpersist, IE11_main and windowsupdate.

I assume you may want to see my CBS logs, but I will need some help getting you what you want. I wound up with 1 CBS log and 5 CBSpersist logs, and when I zipped the folder it was 171MB in size which is way too big to upload here. I can try zipping the individual files to see if any of them would be small enough to upload.

FYI, I'm not an IT person and I have minimal experience knowing what I'm seeing when I try to read a log file. So please keep things simple where you can.

Thanks!

IE 9 is already installed. But windows update says that an optional update is to install IE 9. When I try to apply the update, I get error code 9C48. Attached are the requested files to troubleshoot the problem.

I have tried everything I could find on the internet from changing permissions in the registry to manually deleting files in the command line.

The sfc /scannow returned with no exceptions found.

Please help, thanks in advance...

Hello Stefan,

SFC has detected a corrupt IE9 component, so I'm hoping that's the cause of the 9C48! Your 0x800B0100 is really easy to fix though

A:Windows Explorer Runtime Error (not related to Internet Explorer)

I would un-install the Yahoo Toolbar and then put Google Toolbar in, Then I would try to download .NET framework 2.0

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...6b-356b-4a2c-857c-e62f50ae9a55&displaylang=en

and install it. If it tells you that you already have it re-install it anyway.

Last week my computer had a virus that I successfully removed using Malwarebytes. Since then I have been unable to access the internet using my default browser Google Chrome (instead I receive a 'This Webpage is not available.' message with the error: Error 102 (net::ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED): Unknown error.

Or with internet explorer where the following message is received: Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage.

Yet it works fine with Firefox. I then tried signing in via Windows Live Messenger where it failed and upon doing the connection troubleshooter received an exclamation mark next to the proxy and key ports sections.

Is there any way for me to fix it so that I can have normal internet access? One major problem right now is that I cannot even upload pictures via Photobucket or even e-mail where Google Chrome gives the message: Attachment failed. This may be due to a proxy or firewall.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks guys for your help, the issue seemed to be fixed as it was identified by application team there was some issue(might not be compatible with IE & specific printers) with the font.

The font used in the application was 'Open Sans Light','Open Sans Regular', 'Open Sans Semi Bold' belonging to the 'Open Sans' family of fonts. We downloaded the Webfont from Google FontsWe tried printing the font in the HP printers which caused the 49.4C02 error.

So I've been trying to fix this for more than hours now and I haven't made the slightest bit of progress The issue The update quot Internet Explorer for Windows x quot fails with error code Explorer Internet Error 80004005 11 9C59, Error KB2670838 C Currently installed is IE The update quot KB quot fails with code Google reveals that this update is a requirement for IE After attempting to install Internet Explorer 11 Error 9C59, KB2670838 Error 80004005 such an update quot TrustedInstaller exe quot remains active with high CPU usage and high and steadily increasing memory usage I think I know the reason for this The quot update posting information quot thread tells me to post the folder with CBS logs However after I try and fail one of the two updates or both the CBS log file keeps increasing with about mb per second which never stops eventually growing to many gb I think this is the reason for the quot TrustedInstaller exe quot CPU usage and memory usage Because of this problem it's hard for me to send you CBS Log because it's far too big Thus I'll attach a zip containing one of the quot CbsPersist cab quot files instead - most of them were still too large I also included other files found in C Windows Logs not in the CBS subdirectory they're related to IE so I thought they could be relevant Things I've tried sfc scannow gives no errors at all no integrity violations found chkdsk f took around hours changed nothing As far as I could tell it didn't find many issues System update readiness tool changed nothing Resetting the Windows Update components changed nothing

Hi,
I am having a similar issue with attempting to run Noet.exe. It is giving me the 80004005 error and wants to terminate the program. I have not been able to find any answers to this problem. It worked fine until I went back to an image (I was having other problems so I went back to an earlier image). I have tried all the solutions you have mentioned plus some others, but all to no avail.
Can anyone give us a solution for this problem?

A:internet explorer error

Hello Bigmouth and welcome to the BC HijackThis forum. After reviewing this HijackThis log I do not see any signs of viruses or malware at this time. The log is clean.

It does appear that there are multiple anti-virus applications running on this computer (AVG and Avast). It is not recommended to have this because it can cause file access issues and if there is an infection the multiple programs can block each other from dealing with the infected file. I highly recommend that you choose which application you want to keep and uninstall the other one(s) to prevent these problems.

Cheers.

Thanks again!

Hi,

My internet connection was established today, and seems to be working fine - until I click on something like myspace or facebook, whereupon I am told that internet explorer has stopped running and will close. I am then offered the options of exiting the program, or searching online for a solution (which does nothing). I'm guessing that this is something as simple as a security setting that needs changing, but as I have no idea which one I'm a little lost, and would appreciate any help.
The error information that I am recieving is as follows:

A:error in internet explorer

Hi GWFHegel,

Welcome to the forum.

You may have a add-on that is misbehaving in Internet Explorer (IE7).

In IE7:
NOTE: In Control Panel (Classic View) click Internet Options.
1. Click Tools - Manage Add-ons - Enable or Disable Add-ons
2. Highlight and Disable a add-on, one at a time, and test to see if IE7 works ok until you find out the culprit.
3. Just Enable the add-on back if that was not the one causing the problem.

Hope this helps,
Shawn

Hello,

I am using windows xp sp3 and suddenly my internet explorer stopped working. It is giving me following error.

"windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. you may not have the appropriate permission to access the item"

Previously it was working fine, then i upgrade it to ie7 and it worked well for some days, then suddenly this error came. I am also unable to uninstall it from 'add/remove programs' because remove/uninstall button is vanished from there. Any help in this regard is highly appreciated.

Fahad.

Hi LakeworksYou are running HijackThis from a temp folder. You will need to move hijackthis.exe to a permanent folder, such as c:\hjt . This has to be done as HijackThis creates backups when you fix items. These backups could easily get deleted in a temporary folder.First create a new folder:A. Click My Computer icon on your desktopB. Click C: driveC. Click the File menu --> New --> Folder, a folder "New folder" will be created.D. The nvtrpdemux.ax stands for Nvidia transport demux, which I think is a Windows media player plug-in file. Do you have Nvidia pure video decoder installed?

The details of the error have got something to do with iexplorer.exe. How can I get rid of this error?

Greetings,

Problem: Windows XP Home- When I attempt to open Internet Explorer I get an "ERROR REPORT" saying "IE has encountered a problem and needs to close". It lists unprintable technical data. The report also pops up frequently when I'm on-line using my ISP's browser. This is a recent problem. I tried to uninstall and IE won't uninstall completely. I downloaded the service pak and it did nothing. I have attached my START UP LIST from the SPYWARE site.

Even before this problem I was getting frequent "script error" messages when surfing and am unable to view some website photo's.

So many bugs ... so little time
Suggestions would be greatly! appreciated.

Hi all,I have been virus free for about 6 months now which is great, however in the past week I keep receiving an error message when starting Internet Explorer. I have googled the error message and have a nasty feeling it is a virus. The error message is Cannot find '::{2559A1F4-21D7-11D4-BDAF-00C04F60B9FO}'. Make sure the path or Internet address is correct.Could someone please help me fix this. Thanks in advance

A:Internet Explorer Error

It may be malware or an Orphaned registry entry from the last fix.Are you ruuning XP oranother? What Antivirus and spyware tools are installed?Let's first run this scan. Please download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and save it to your desktop.alternate download link 1alternate download link 2Make sure you are connected to the Internet.Double-click on mbam-setup.exe to install the application. When the installation begins, follow the prompts and do not make any changes to default settings. When installation has finished, make sure you leave both of these checked:Update Malwarebytes' Anti-MalwareLaunch Malwarebytes' Anti-MalwareThen click Finish.MBAM will automatically start and you will be asked to update the program before performing a scan. If an update is found, the program will automatically update itself. Press the OK button to close that box and continue. If you encounter any problems while downloading the updates, manually download them from here and just double-click on mbam-rules.exe to install. On the Scanner tab:Make sure the "Perform Quick Scan" option is selected. Then click on the Scan button. If asked to select the drives to scan, leave all the drives selected and click on the Start Scan button. The scan will begin and "Scan in progress" will show at the top. It may take some time to complete so please be patient. When the scan is finished, a message box will say "The scan completed successfully. Click 'Show Results' to display all objects found".Click OK to close the message box and continue with the removal process.Back at the main Scanner screen, click on the Show Results button to see a list of any malware that was found.Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected. When removal is completed, a log report will open in Notepad. The log is automatically saved and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.Copy and paste the contents of that report in your next reply and exit MBAM.Note: If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you may be asked to reboot your computer so it can proceed with the disinfection process. Reagardless if prompted to restart the computer or not, please do so immediately. Failure to reboot normally (not into safe mode) will prevent MBAM from removing all the malware.

Hi all,
Everytime I load my home page it loads just fine but down in the left hand corner it constantly reads " Done but with errors". Any help resolving this problem would be appreciated. Thank you.

A:Internet Explorer error

Hello AmberDiane,

This indicates a error on that webpage and not your Internet Explorer. You can double click on that error icon to see more details about it. Afterwards, you might copy the error details and send it to the website's "Contact Us" link so that they are alerted to the error and can fix it.

Hope this helps,
Shawn

Just when you open one particular site, or any site?

The error message is unhelpful, probably any of 1,000 reasons.

Do a system File Check.

Start - Run -
type into the Run dialogue box
SFC /scannow
and press Enter. Note the space after SFC.

Should take several minutes to check all files. If entered correctly a dialogue box appears and shows the progress.

Did you try updating it through Windows Upgrade? I am not quite sure on this but a HJT log may help. If someone doesn't anaylze then that means they have a better thought.

Please download HijackThis http://www.greyknight17.com/spy/HijackThis.exe - this program will help us determine if there are any spyware/malware on your computer. Create a folder at C:\HJT and move HijackThis.exe there. Double click on the program to run it.

1. If it gives you an intro screen, just choose 'Do a system scan and save a logfile'.
2. If you don't get the intro screen, just hit Scan and then click on Save log.
3. Get HijackThis Analyzer http://www.greyknight17.com/spy/KRC%...20Analyzer.zip and save it to the same folder as the hijackthis.log file. Run HijackThis Analyzer and type in 'y' if you agree. The 'result.txt' file will open up in Notepad. Copy the whole result.txt log and post it in the forum. You don't need to post the original hijackthis.log (unless we ask for it). Do not fix anything in HijackThis since they may be harmless.

Hello all. I have Windows Vista 64 bit and cannot get IE 9 to open.
It states Windows cannot find C:\Program files (x86) Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe. Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again.

I also looked on my system to see if I could uninstall Explorer, but my OS won't let me.
Any help appreciated. Thank you very much.

Hello All!
I am hoping to get some help here. We purchased several new hp that run windows xp. I have swapped out 3 so far, and followed the instructions to hook them up to my network (which is fine) but I cannot get out onto the internet now. I have looked at my other computers that have not been swapped out yet and that have internet access and there doesn't seem to be any difference in the internet or network properties. Does anyone have any ideas? I have been trying to fix this off and on for over a week and needless to say am getting a little cranky. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

A:Internet Explorer Error

Are they able to see other computers on the network? Do you need any proxy settings set in IE?

When I click on it, it says:

i always get this error saying internet explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close. we are sorry for the inconvenience. can anyone tell me how can i fix this problem thanks.

A:internet explorer error

1: If IE has been upgraded, look in your add/remove programs for the application. When selecting to remove the program, it will have an option to repair.

2: Make sure all of your windows updates are done.

3: Check for spyware. Can sometimes cause these effects on the IE. My best suggestion is Spybot. (Perform a google search)

Hopefully this helps.

A:Internet Explorer Error

Hello newtonet,

I'm not seeing much of anything here.

Download CleanUp! (Alternate Link if main link doesn't work) and install it. Do not run it yet.

Download Ewido Security SuiteInstall Ewido Security Suite
When installing, under "Additional Options" uncheck..Install background guard
Install scan via context menu

Double-click the icon on Desktop to launch Ewido
You will need to update Ewido to the latest definition files. On the left hand side of the main screen click update.
Then click on Start Update.
The update will start and a progress bar will show the updates being installed.
If you are having problems with the updater, you can use this link to manually update Ewido
When you have finished updating, EXIT Ewido.

---------------------------

Go to My Computer->Tools->Folder Options->View tab:
* Under the Hidden files and folders heading:
* select Show hidden files and folders.
* Uncheck Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
* Click Yes to confirm and then click OK.

Next, please reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following:
1) Restart your computer
2) After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, press F8.
3) Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu should appear
4) Use the up arrow key to highlight Safe Mode and press Enter.

---------------------------

Open Cleanup! by double-clicking the icon on your desktop (or from the Start > All Programs menu). Set the program up as follows:
*Click "Options..."
*Move the arrow down to "Standard CleanUp!"
*Uncheck the following:
-Delete Newsgroup cache
-Delete Newsgroup Subscriptions
-Scan local drives for temporary files
Click OK
Press the CleanUp! button to start the program. Do NOT reboot/logoff when prompted.
Note: CleanUp! deletes EVERYTHING out of your temp/temporary folders, it does not make backups. If you have any documents or programs that are saved in any Temporary Folders, please make a backup of these before running CleanUp!

Run Ewido. Click on the Scanner button in the left menu, then click on Complete System Scan. This scan can take quite a while to run.

If Ewido finds anything, it will pop up a notification. We have been finding some cases of false positives with the new version of Ewido, so we need to step through the fixes one-by-one. If Ewido finds something that you KNOW is legitimate (for example, parts of AVG Antivirus, pcAnywhere and the game "Risk" have been flagged), select "none" as the action.

DO NOT check "Perform action with all infections". If you are unsure of an entry, select "none" for the time being. I'll see that in the log you will post later and let you know if ewido needs to be run again.

When the scan finishes, click on "Save Report". This will create a text file. Make sure you know where to find this file again.

Reboot into Normal Mode.

See if you can perform an online scan with Internet Explorer with Panda ActiveScan
** click on "Free use ActiveScan" located on the top right hand corner Click Check Now & a 'pop up' window shall appear. *ensure that your pop up blocker doesn't block it
Enter your e-mail address, country, and state & click Scan Now ...begins downloading 8 MB Panda's ActiveX controls
Begin the scan by selecting My Computer If it finds any malware, it will offer you a report.
Please ignore any entry it finds and wants you to buy the program for removal as we will address this later.
Click on see report. Then click Save report
Please post that log in your next reply along with the results of the Ewido scan and a new HijackThis log.

What happens when you try to open IE? Any error messages?

I've got a problem with internet explorer, I've got internet banking access and previoiusly I was able to print web pages from the tool bar with no problem now every time I go to print explorer shuts down and says an error has occurred that's all the info it gives me. I've tried reinstalling my printer, I've even tried restoring windows but that hasn't made any difference can anyone help.

A:Internet explorer - error can anyone help

First of all I think that your printer is working properly. To verify try printing any word document. If it prints , then your printer is o.k. If not then reinstall your printer. Your internet explorer might have been corrupted. Try to fix it by going to http://windowsxp.mvps.org/IEFIX.htm or http://www.theeldergeek.com. Please see attachments for files and info!!!

Please mention ur systems information on the next post!!!!!
