I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I would like to figure out why the video is so jerky running in normal mode.
Is there a way to find out?

Also the sound system does not start in safe mode.

A:safe mode online video works excellent, normal mode awful, unwatchable

Troubleshoot Application Conflicts by Performing a Clean Startup

Don't forget to do step three after troubleshooting. Is it running fine in clean startup?

There is no malicious software.I have gone through Malwarebytes,TDSSKiller,Kaspersky, etc.Nothing was found.
It doesn't entirely freeze.I can move the cursor which usually is a blue circle.Sometimes more things like highlight icons w/ the cursor or the clock keeps going.
Sometimes when I press ctrl+alt+del and open task manager, the programs that didn't open when I clicked on them will open up.Most times pressing ctrl+alt+del does nothing though.
It works fine in Safe Mode and Safe Mode with Networking.I have disabled all start ups and every service except Microsoft ones and restarted in Normal mode.Still the same problem.
I used checkdisk and it said nothing is wrong.
There are random times where it works fine.No specific time of day.It just happens. Most times it is this way though.

A:Laptop only works in safe mode.Hangs w/ blue circle in Normal mode.

Did you disable the startup items and services in Safe Mode, and then restart in normal mode?

Essentially what you are trying to do is a Clean Boot, this has to be performed in normal mode.

***This is a diagnotic tool for Windows Vista, Windows 7, and Windows 8.  This will not repair your computer, but it may point to where the problem lies so that a repair can be made.***

Warning:  Disabling items in Services or Startup may leave your anitivius disabled until the process is ended.  For this reason I would suggest that you perform this process off line.

Step 1

(1)  Click on the Start orb , then type msconfig.exe in the Search programs and files box.

(2)  When msconfig is seen in the pane above the search box and under Programs, right click on it, then click on Run as administrator.

If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, you should enter the password or provide confirmation.

Step 2

(1)  Click on the General tab.

(2)  Click the Selective startup option.

(3)  Remove the check mark in the Load startup items  check box.

Step 3

(1)  Click on the Services tab.

(2)  Place a check mark in the Hide all Microsoft services check box, this will remove the Microsoft Services from the list but will still be running.

(3)  Click Disable all, this will remove all of the check marks in the Services list, then click on Apply, then OK.  Click on Restart in the window that opens.

Caution:  By disabling the Services your antivirus will not be active, for this reason I suggest that this process not be run while online.

If the problem does not reoccur after the reboot continue with the process of elemination to find the Service which is causing this in Option A.  If the problem does reoccur after the reboot go to Option B.

Option A

**The following is a process of elimination to find the Service or Startup item that is causing your problem**.

*  If the problem does not reoccur after the restart go back to Services and place check marks in half of the boxes and restart the computer.

*  If the problem still does not continue return to Services and remove the check marks that were added, then place check marks in the remaining half of the boxes and restart the computer.

If the problem resumes after a restart in one of these halves, you will procede with this process in the half where the problem occurs.  If this does not continue in either half you should repeat this process in Sartup.

*  In the half of the Services that the problem is found, remove one check mark at a time and restart the computer to see if that  is the Service causing the problem.  Continue to do this with the Services untill the service causing this problem is  found.

Option B

Search Startup itmesIf the problem is not found in Services, remove all of the check marks, click on the Startup tab and repeat the search process there.

Caution:  If this is a laptop, make sure, you do NOT disable any keyboard, or touchpad entries.

If this problem is found post the Service or Startup item that is causing it.

Your crash dumps are not showing any finite probable cause. In such a situation, it is better to enable Driver Verifier to monitor the drivers.
Driver Verifier - Enable and Disable
Run Driver Verifier for 24 hours or the occurrence of the next crash, whichever is earlier.

   Information
Why Driver Verifier:
It puts a stress on the drivers, ans so it makes the unstable drivers crash. Hopefully the driver that crashes is recorded in the memory dump.

How Can we know that DV is enabled:
It will make the system bit of slow, laggy.

   Warning
Before enabling DV, make it sure that you have earlier System restore points made in your computer. You can check it easily by using CCleaner looking at Tools > System Restore.

If there is no points, make a System Restore Point manually before enabling DV.

   Tip

If you fail to get on the Desktop because of DV, Boot into Advanced Boot Options > Safe mode. Disable DV there. Now boot normally again, and try following the instruction of enabling DV again.
If you cannot boot in Safe mode too, do a System Restore to a point you made earlier.

Let us know the results, with the subsequent crash dumps, if any.

I am not able to connect to any webpages in normal mode, even after restarting i still have the same problem [However it works in safe mode with networking]. The network connections show that it is connected and the signal strength is excellent. I then have to keep restarting the laptop like 3 to 4 times and it works. Its kind of frustrating to keep doing this all the time and besides i am scared by restarting the laptop so many time can harm it.

Please help me.

What firewall / security suite or anti-virus do you currently have on the PC - or you have ever had on the PC in the past - any trial ware - like Norton, kaspersky or Mcafee or any free security suites like zonealarm, AVG , Webroot etc

Lenovo will also come with a trial ware program - cant remember which
I would also remove AVG 2013 - using the removal tool - see below

have a read here and post back as much info as possible
Pre-posting Requirements - for both Wired and Wireless Connectivity Issues

Normally are you using wireless - and in safe mode with networking - are you still talking wireless

can you connect to the router with a cable and if so does that work in normal mode ?

Lets see an ipconfig /all in both normal and safemode with networking - make sure you also tell us which is which when you post

ipconfig /all
If you cannot access the internet with this PC, then you will need to paste the results into something like notepad and then copy onto a machine that can access the internet and post the results in a reply here.
Save the file to a USB flash drive or other removable media. Plug it into the working computer with internet access and copy the file and paste here.

If you do not have another PC - do you have a phone connected to the internet - can you photograph the result and post the image in a reply
Note: you will see entries named Tunnel adapter Teredo Tunneling Pseudo-Interface: we dont need to see that information - JUST the infomation above those entries

We would like to see the results from an ipconfig /all - post back the results in a reply here.

For Windows 8
to open a Cmd Prompt or an Administrator Cmd prompt from the Desktop. Use Win + X and choose Command Prompt or Command Prompt (Admin) from the list.

This should work for all windows version, XP, Vista, W7
Hold the Windows key and press R

then type CMD

then press Enter to open a command prompt box
(A new dialogue box - black with white font, will appear on screen ):

In the command prompt window that opens, type the following command:

Note that there is a space before the /ALL, but there is NOT a space after the / in the following command.

ipconfig /all > network.txt & network.txt

It will export the results into notepad and then automatically open the notepad and display on your screen.

Now all you need to do is copy and paste those results into a reply here
to do that:
From the notepad menu - choose Edit - Select all
all the text will now be highlighted
Next
From the notepad menu - choose Edit - Copy

Now go back to the forum - goto the reply and then right click in the reply box and paste the results.
The results from the notepad should now appear in the forum reply.

Not sure exactly what happened but couple days ago the laptop started to hang up or freeze when I tried to run any application, such as a browser, control panel, and even task manager. If I need to turn it off I have to hold the power button which I know is not good but otherwise I would not be able to reboot. If I go into safe mode I can use the computer somewhat sluggish but I can at least open up programs and even get on the internet. I cannot do system restore as this had been turned off. I had a conflicting driver issue that I installed, but that has not helped, I dont know what else to do. Please help this is my only computer.

Win 7 Normal Mode won't start, will go past Starting up Screen and just hit a Black screen and will hit a Crash Dump (blue error screen)..... I can boot into safe mode fine and I have fun CHKSDK and after a reboot it fixed a few problems but I hit the same Crash Dump Screen. I have also made sure my whole pc is all clean and connected, no corroding parts etc etc, made sure my pci-e slot is default etc etc, no luck at all...

Its a new installation and worked fine last night and early this morning after separate boots. But as soon as I booted this afternoon it wouldn't load and would hit the blue error crash dump screen....

So any suggestions?

Just last night My main HDD died also which is why I had to use my secondary HDD as my main....

A:BSOD when trying to boot in normal mode, safe mode works fine

You may need to run SFC up to 3 times for it to have a chance to repair all files.

If it won't then you can consider a Repair Install.

However be aware that factory preinstalled Win7 is one of the worst possible installs of Win7 one can have, larded with bloatware and duplicate utilties that intefere with better versions built into Win7. So I would strongly consider doing the vastly superior Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7.

If you decide to try to repair you can also capture the BSOD file and post it up for one of our BSOD analysts as shown here: Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) Posting Instructions - Windows 7 Forums

Windows only opens in safe mode, tried reloading drivers, last known good configuration, etc. When in normal mode black screen only, when acessing task manager shows all processes stopped and will not allow me to start them.

A:Black screen when start in normal mode, works in safe mode only.

Hello CliffordJ. Microsoft Security Essentials is installed, correct? Many MSE users running Vista (but not all) suffered black screen after login following installation of Update for Microsoft Security Essentials - 4.9.218.0 (KB3140527), released about a month ago. In fact there is already a thread here: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/606422/windows-vista-x64-bksod-after-login-or-no-access-in-normal-mode-suspect-mse/. The posters there disabled MSE 4.9 in Safe Mode by unticking a brand-new setting in the UI (Administrator > Turn on this app). Another method of escaping this situation would be to restore your system to a point before the update was installed, then hide the update in Windows Update. That would allow you to resume using MSE 4.8 if you wish.

I am extremely curious why this happens to many but not all MSE users running Vista. If more advanced forum members ask you for further information, I hope you will cooperate. Above all, I wonder if any other security software with real-time protection is installed (or perhaps improperly uninstalled)? Of course there is a possibility that your issue is something else...

Everytime i open my pc up in normal mode, it seems to restart itself within a few seconds to a few minutes, It tends to happen when i open up a program like Chrome. I',m currently on safe mode with networking and have done registry cleaners, updated video card drivers and looked for viruses, yet nothing has seemed wrong, I've also done a system restore to when my pc was working fine, but it still was happening, I saw on another post here that i should post my msinfo32 so here you go, Thanks.

I have been getting BSOD errors whenever booting into regular mode. Safe mode is fine (I have tweaked the registry so I have sound in safe mode) My system specs are in my profile, but used Winaudit for full specs. The winaudit report in formatted text is too big for an attachment. I have 2 attachments to this post, including zipped up minidumps.
Could my registry tweak for sound have something to do with this?
Perfmon /report was run, but it says:

An error occured while attempting to generate the report.

The system cannot find the path specified.

You have several issues. It might be easier to simply clean install.

You choice, here are the most obvious problems

Avg

Kaspersky

Pctools

Symantec

One or all of the above are causing an issue with tcpip.sys which need to be fixed.
If you decide you want to remove instead of clean install we have the removal tools inks.

I have a Toshiba A135-S4467 laptop that would freeze on the windows load screen so I replaced the hard drive after several attempts at formatting and reloading that were unsuccessful. I put in the new hard drive and completely installed windows but it still freezes at load up, I did get it to start a couple times but the CPU would peg at 100% and would freeze up after about 20 seconds. It will however start and run in safe mode.

Hello ericberard,

You?re having a problem with the computer going to a black screen.

First test the hardware.

Turn off the computer

As you power it back on, tap the F2 key. This will load hardware diagnostics.

Once the screen loads run the startup test.

If this is windows 7 and the startup test pass.

Power back off the computer.

As you power it back on, tap the F8 key. This will load Advanced Boot Options.

Select Last Known Good Configuration.

This will take the system back to when everything was working correctly.

Clicking the White Kudos star on the left is a way to say Thanks!

Let me know how everything goes.

Have a good day.

But one of those other people certainly could have, right?

You might look through Add/Remove programs for installs with dates in that range.

Also, look in the STARTUP group.

I started having said problem during virus mode. safe in mode, in normal works fine Can't browse removal I had removed multiple virus via malware SAS aSquare combofix and I could not connect to any websites Via my wireless connection windows Can't browse in normal mode, works fine in safe mode. said my signal strength was good and it was connected to the wireless network I tried pinging different websites like yahoo com google com etc and all my requests timed out So I decided to trouble shoot Booting into safe mode w networking worked fine I was able to ping and connect to websites via Internet Explorer I ran SpybotS amp D and it removed a win agent and some sort of malware that had firewall in the name forgot exactly what it was and I don't have the log on hand Anyways after this removal I tried again to ping website like yahoo com google com etc and the ping worked fine However I still could not connect to any websites via Internet Explorer I tried reinstalling IE but its the same story During this whole process I have been able to use Internet Explorer succesfully only in safe mode Any ideas I doubt it is a virus directly causing my problems It's had a thorough cleaning Maybe some left over wreckage I doubt its a firewall issue CA's personal firewall is installed on the machine I know CA antivirus is running in safe mode I'm not so sure if the firewall does or not I'm assuming it does I don't know where to even start on this Any help would be appreciated

A:Can't browse in normal mode, works fine in safe mode.

Hello,You should not browse in Safe Mode because your security programs do not function in safe mode which means that more malware finds its way onto your computer. This issue is related to the issue you have posted here: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/240716/sdra64exe-uacinitdll-fakealert-vundo/ Because you have this log posted, you should NOT make further changes to your computer (install/uninstall programs, use special fix tools, delete files, edit the registry, etc) unless advised by a HJT Team member, nor should you ask for help elsewhere. Doing so can result in system changes which may not show in the log you already posted. Further, any modifications you make on your own may cause confusion for the helper assisting you and could complicate the malware removal process which would extend the time it takes to clean your computer. From this point on the HJT Team should be the only members that you take advice from, until they have verified your log as clean. Please be patient. It may take a while to get a response because the HJT Team members are EXTREMELY busy working logs posted before yours. They are volunteers who will help you out as soon as possible. Once you have made your post and are waiting, please DO NOT make another reply until it has been responded to by a member of the HJT Team. Generally the staff checks the forum for postings that have 0 replies as this makes it easier for them to identify those who have not been helped. If you post another response there will be 1 reply. A team member, looking for a new log to work may assume another HJT Team member is already assisting you and not open the thread to respond. Please be patient. It may take a while to get a response but your log will be reviewed and answered as soon as possibleTo avoid confusion, I am closing this topic. Good luck with your log.Orange Blossom

Hello there,
I really need help on this one. When I switched on my laptop ( Hp windows 7) , it started as usual and it screened the message " starting windows" as usual , after starting I was expecting the log on screen to come. But there it was, just a black screen while the standard windows tune was heard, there was NO log on screen. It was just black.
Then I went into safe mode with networking. And that's all how it works now.
Please I would be really greatful if you could help me out.

So basically the laptop is functioning all fine in safe mode but wouldn't go further the " starting windows" message in normal mode.
Please Please help

The first thing i would do is stay in safe mode and run a virus scan.

Also check for a system restore point.

Use your Install DVD. When on the install now screen choose repair in the left side of screen. Select your OS. Then When at the GUI select system restore. Choose a date before all this happened.

i have mozilla firefox 3 and yesterday, i did a system restore because my computer was not working, you know, the usual viruses etc. system restore has made my computer normal again except for some problems.

first, a message popped up every time i logged into my account: "one of the libraries needed to run this application could not be found." i'm not sure what application it was referring to! mozilla firefox is not working, every time i open it, it says the connection is interrupted. internet explorer also does not work but msn does work, so i am connected to the internet. mozilla does work in safe mode though. i've turned firewalls off as well. also, my trend micro internet security doesn't work, i can't open it, so i removed it frm my pc and installed avg free 8.

please, i'm not that great with computers so any help will be REALLY APPRECIATED!

Hello,

I'm running a Gateway NV Series and as of last night I have fallen victim to the problem that Windows 7 seems to be plagued with. My internet has completely stopped working, both Ethernet and Wireless. I have tried many of the fixes suggested in this forum and others, but none of them have worked. So I booted into safe mode with networking and low and behold, the wireless and Ethernet work just fine here.

Why is this?

I don't like to run the internet on safe mode, and I would to have my computer back working at normal capacity. How can I fix this?

Specs on my laptop are here:

A:No Internet in Normal Mode; Works in Safe Mode

Hi and Welcome to SF.

Your safe mode loads up with the bare essentials to get things working. Using builtin drivers i would think and no third party softwares. If your safe mode don't work, more than likely u have a system/hardware issue.

As for your normal mode, go into Device Manager, any noticable issues?

A:My PC turns off in Normal Mode but works in Safe Mode

Hi Majestic616, welcome to the forums.

To be honest, it does sound suspiciously like malware..especially the win32.dll listing in msconfig. Your restore point is most probably infected too, hence why the problems reoccur after using system restore.

Your best option is to follow the instructions in the link below:
http://www.techsupportforum.com/f50/...lp-305963.html

ISSUE

Keyboard some times does not work in the normal mode and if checked in
the safe mode, it works just fine
If checked it may find that the Drivers for the keyboard is not
working, reinstalling the drivers for the keyboard , downloading the
updates for the KB will not work.

RESOULTION

(try the Following steps in normal mode and then if not possible then)

1.Boot the computer in safe mode
2.Start.......Control Panel......Accessibility Options.......Uncheck
all the check marks
in the Sticky Keys , Filter Keys and Toggle Keys

3. Click on ok to save the changes
4. Restart the computer in safe mode

Keyboard Works in Normal Mode now.

A:Keyboard Works in Safe Mode and not in the Normal Mode

Mmmmmmkay. Don't know whether to write it down for future reference or offer a solution.
Sure would like to know if it's a USB or PS/2 kb.

Hello, I'm trying to help a friend whose computer (OS Vista Home Basic with SP1) has been having a lot of trouble, and it's getting worse.
Their computer can only start in Safe Mode, trying regular mode just makes the screen go black, and it crashes. He can't download hijack this while in Safe Mode.\

I tried having him run a scan with BlueScreenview, but nothing is showing up, here's a screenshot of that in case it helps:
http://s102.photobucket.com/albums/m93/okuni2/?action=view&current=bluscreen.jpg

Any help or suggestions are most appreciated

A:Safe-mode works only, won't start in normal mode

HJT is an outdated malware-removal tool...your suggestion to run it implies the possibility of system infection.

Is that correct? Have you run any scans for malware from safe mode?

Please do not post your HiJack This logs here. Due to Forum Rules we cannot comment or assist in Virus Malware removal here. If you feel you are infected, please click the link for Virus/Malware Help in my signature, follow those steps and post in that section of the forum.

In Safe Mode go to Start/Run and type chkdsk C: /R and press enter. In the Command Prompt type a Y for Yes and restart your computer. Check Disk will run at the next bootup.
You can also do a Clean Boot. See if that helps.

Hi yustr
It could be that something has happened to your video card. In Safe Mode Windows doesn't use the video card but uses the onboard graphics. Have you got another video card that you could try?

Chances are, you have Malware.  Programs that are using internet access that you can't see.  Run Malwarebytes, Hitman and AdWare cleaner.

I'm new here and in hopes of getting this resolved. I just installed the new Norton Systemworks 2005 and rebooted after installation. When the boot screen got up to the blue screen with the Windows XP logo before displaying the login names where you put in your password, it just stops. I restarted a few times and waiting a few more times thinking it may need to 'finish' installing. But each time gave the same results. Finally, I went in with 'Safe Mode' and got in with no problems. Tried again in normal mode after looking around for any obvious problems (none found)... back to square one. Tried again in 'Safe Mode with Networking' and it failed like normal mode so I suspected a networking problem??? The last thing I tried which made me mad is that I tried to uninstall Norton Systemworks in 'Safe Mode' and that failed!! Anyone in these forums know the cure? :dead:

Just a thought

Safe-Mode
Start \ Run \ msconfig \ diagnostic startup
disable any services attached to your most recent install and restart
should get warning next boot about using msconfig, its ok
One key service that needs to be available is the installer service
Try the uninstall, if doesn't complete
Try the uninstall string in the registry only if you know what you are doing

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall

Under it you will see a list of installed programs. Some don?t show up as words but you can figure out what they are by looking at their values. What you are looking for is the uninstall string. Double click that key as if you were going to modify its value. Do a CTRL + C to copy and then exit the registry editor.

Go to START \ RUN and paste the uninstall sting and hit enter. This should launch the uninstall.

Just a thought though as I am not infront of a test system at the moment. You should research this a little further so you have a clear understanding of what you can and can't do with msconfig.

or simpler yet

Safe-Mode

Start \ Programs \ Access. \ System Tools \ System Restore

Select restore point prior to install of whats giving you the problem.

Again, Good Luck

PS If you try to install it again, turn of antivirus and other open programs etc..

Hello folks I come to you with quite a problem My internet doesn't work but only so far as browsers go I am on an HP Pavilion laptop running Windows In Normal Mode I am able to swiftly and easily use things like Skype and even Steam video games that go online or have an online component also seem to work and can patch themselves or download updates However I absolutely cannot use any of my browsers I have three of them installed IE Chrome and Firefox and when I try to use online only applications in always, work safe online mode Non-browser browsers any of them I get the same error My main browser is Chrome and when I attempt to navigate to a page the browser hangs for a little while and then displays the error This webpage is not available Sometimes I will see this error flash in the page for a split second before my default 'start' page Non-browser applications work online always, browsers online only in safe mode which really isn't a website turns up All of the browsers lag Chrome in particular says 'Loading ' for some time before it even loads the start page However in Safe Mode all of my internet functionality is present and flawless My browsers open speedily and connect to the internet in seconds without any problems I am not on my home network I am on a Verizon network at my cousins' house Obviously the issue is not with the network and believe me I checked and checked and checked again to be sure of that but I did not start having this problem until I got here and tried to log on Initially when I did so I had the wrong password stored in my system and had to delete the profile of the wireless network and remake it with the new password but I never once was able to access the internet in normal mode since then My computer was powered on when it was brought into the range of this network Yesterday after some finagling with system startup services I got the internet to work in browsers but only barely I was able to access a number of websites including Yahoo and Youtube but Google Gmail Tumblr and Twitter all displayed the same error as before This limited functionality soon vanished and now I have the original problem again I have performed a number of miscellaneous steps to try to fix the problem including -Winsock repair via cmd -Checking the LAN settings in IE -Changing DNS settings to automatic -Turning on Network Discovery -Changing the network type -Release renewing my IP -Resetting the router -Clearing the DNS cache -Reinstalling browsers -Performing a clean boot with no startups and Microsoft-only services running -Refreshed the profile of the internet connection I am trying to use -Reinstalling drivers -Run CCleaner's Cleaner and Registry cleans multiple times I have also run several malware scans at different times the first thing I did in fact none of which have turned up anything save a few small trackers including -avast -Rkill Malwarebytes twice -SUPERAntiSpyware twice -Spybot Search amp Destroy -TDDSkiller exe Despite my greatest efforts the problem still persists and I am at my wit's end I am presently posting this from my functional Safe Mode with Networking I don't know what the deal is but I have spent over thirty hours in trying to fix it I hope that something can be done If anyone can help me it is you guys Bleeping Computer

Hello TheBigDogz Welcome to The Forums!!Around here they call me Gringo and I'll be glad to help you with your malware problems.Very Important --> Please read this post completely, I have spent my time to put together somethings for you to keep in mind while I am helping you to make things go easier, faster and smoother for both of us!Please do not run any tools unless instructed to do so.We ask you to run different tools in a specific order to ensure the malware is completely removed from your machine, and running any additional tools may detect false positives, interfere with our tools, or cause unforeseen damage or system instability. Please do not attach logs or use code boxes, just copy and paste the text.Due to the high volume of logs we receive it helps to receive everything in the same format, and code boxes make the logs very difficult to read. Also, attachments require us to download and open the reports when it is easier to just read the reports in your post. Please read every post completely before doing anything.Pay special attention to the NOTE: lines, these entries identify an individual issue or important step in the cleanup process. Please provide feedback about your experience as we go.A short statement describing how the computer is working helps us understand where to go next, for example: I am still getting redirected, the computer is running normally, etc. Please do not describe the computer as "the same", this requires the extra step of looking back at your previous post.NOTE: At the top of your post, click on the "Follow This Topic" Button, make sure that the "Receive notification" box is checked and that it is set to "Instantly" - This will send you an e-mail as soon as I reply to your topic, allowing us to resolve the issue faster.NOTE: Backup any files that cannot be replaced. Removing malware can be unpredictable and this step can save a lot of heartaches if things don't go as planed. You can put them on a CD/DVD, external drive or a pen drive, anywhere except on the computer.NOTE: It is good practice to copy and paste the instructions into notepad and print them in case it is necessary for you to go offline during the cleanup process. To open notepad, navigate to Start Menu > All Programs > Accessories > Notepad. Please remember to copy the entire post so you do not miss any instructions. These are the programs I would like you to run next, if you have any problems with these just skip it and run the next one.-Security Check-Download Security Check by screen317 from here.Save it to your Desktop.Double click SecurityCheck.exe and follow the onscreen instructions inside of the black box.A Notepad document should open automatically called checkup.txt; please post the contents of that document.-AdwCleaner-Please download AdwCleaner by Xplode onto your desktop.Close all open programs and internet browsers.Double click on AdwCleaner.exe to run the tool.Click on Delete.Confirm each time with Ok.Your computer will be rebooted automatically. A text file will open after the restart. Please post the content of that logfile with your next answer. You can find the logfile at C:\AdwCleaner[S1].txt as well.--RogueKiller--Download & SAVE to your Desktop RogueKiller or from here Quit all programs that you may have started. Please disconnect any USB or external drives from the computer before you run this scan! For Vista or Windows 7, right-click and select "Run as Administrator to start"For Windows XP, double-click to start.Wait until Prescan has finished ...Then Click on "Scan" buttonWait until the Status box shows "Scan Finished"click on "delete"Wait until the Status box shows "Deleting Finished"Click on "Report" and copy/paste the content of the Notepad into your next reply. The log should be found in RKreport[1].txt on your DesktopExit/Close RogueKiller+Gringo

Hello, danyulsWelcome to the Bleeping Computer Forums. My name is Jat, and I will be helping you with your situation. If you do not make a reply in 5 days, we will have to close your topic. You may want to keep the link to this topic in your favourites. Alternatively, you can click the button at the top bar of this topic and Track this Topic. The topics you are tracking can be found here. Please take note of some guidelines for this fix:Refrain from making any changes to your computer including installing/uninstall programs, deleting files, modifying the registry, and running scanners or tools. Doing so could cause changes to the directions I have to give you and prolong the time required. Further more, you should not be taking any advice relating to this computer from any other source throughout the course of this fix.If you do not understand any step(s) provided, please do not hesitate to ask before continuing. I would much rather clarify instructions or explain them differently than have something important broken.Even if things appear to be better, it might not mean we are finished. Please continue to follow my instructions and reply back until I give you the "all clean". We do not want to clean you part-way, only to have the system re-infect itself. Please reply using the button in the lower right hand corner of your screen. Do not start a new topic. The logs that you post should be pasted directly into the reply. Only attach them if requested or if they do not fit into the post.Old topics are closed after 3 days with no reply, and working topics are closed after 5 days. If for any reason you cannot complete instructions within that time, that's fine, just post back here so that we know you're still here.I need some time to look over your log, I will post back soon.

there should be Safe Mode with Networking when you try to boot choosing safemodes. to enable it, go to Start->run, type "msconfig" and when the window opens, choose the tab labelled BOOT.ini, check the button for SAFE, and the box for networking.

next time you boot, be careful. booting this way will cause you to perma-safemode-with-networking boot. PLEASE CONSULT WITH ANOTHER PROFESSIONAL to get out of this boot mode. it appears my age has crept up with me. i forget how to get out.

A:I can only get online in the 'safe mode'

Hello and Welcome to TSF.

Please Subscribe to this Thread to get immediate notification of replies as soon as they are posted. To do this click Thread Tools, then click Subscribe to this Thread. Make sure it is set to Instant notification by email, then click Add Subscription.

Please note that the forum is very busy and if I don't hear from you within three days this thread will be closed.

------------------------------------------------------

Please copy this page to Notepad and Save it to your Desktop in order to assist you when carrying out the following instructions.

Before beginning the fix, read this post completely. If there's anything that you do not understand, kindly ask your questions before proceeding.
Ensure that there aren't any opened browsers when you are carrying out the procedures below.

It is IMPORTANT that you don't miss a step & perform everything in the correct order/sequence.

------------------------------------------------------

Please note that these fixes are not instantaneous. Most infections require more than one round to properly eradicate.

Please stay with me until given the 'all clear' even if symptoms seemingly abate.

Kindly follow my instructions and please do no fixing on your own or running of scanners unless requested by a helper.

------------------------------------------------------

Please download ComboFix and Save it to your Desktop.

**Note: It is important that it is saved directly to your desktop**

------------------------------------------------------
Disable your AntiVirus and AntiSpyware applications, usually via a right-click on the System Tray icon. They may otherwise interfere with our tools.
Double-click on ComboFix.exe & follow the prompts.
As part of it's process, ComboFix will check to see if the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed. With malware infections being as they are today, it's strongly recommended to have this pre-installed on your machine before doing any malware removal. It will allow you to boot up into a special recovery/repair mode that will allow us to more easily help you should your computer have a problem after an attempted removal of malware.
Follow the prompts to allow ComboFix to download and install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console, and when prompted, agree to the End-User License Agreement to install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console.
**Please note: If the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is already installed, ComboFix will continue it's malware removal procedures.

Once the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed using ComboFix, you should see the following message:

Click on Yes to continue scanning for malware.

Your desktop may go blank. This is normal. It will return when ComboFix is done. ComboFix may reboot your machine. This is normal.

When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Please include the C:\ComboFix.txt in your next reply.

Please re-enable your antivirus before posting the ComboFix.txt log.

I have an DOM for Online Office storage mode issue where I cannot open up any Office type document DOM storage mode for Office Online xlsx docx etc from OneDrive in Internet Explorer using Office online applications It starts to load but the page remains blank The same happens if I want to create a new document in any of the Office online applications from O I figured out that if I enable DOM storage in Internet options gt advanced the applications work But with the DOM storage enabled a few other applications fail to work On SharePoint forms for example any type of lookup field loses its content and cannot be populated at all If DOM storage is disabled the SharePoint works fine again but the Office online applications don't start Is there anything that can be done so I don't have to reset the settings all the time when I try to do one or the other thing In Mozilla Firefox both SP and O works perfectly I disabled all adds-ons cleared cache and cookies but unfortunately the issue persists The site is added to the trusted sites and I tried with compatibility mode as well but no luck I got following result after running System File Checker quot Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them quot sfcdetails f SR Cannot repair member file l quot opencl dll quot of microsoft-windows-RemoteFX-clientVM-RemoteFXWDDMDriver-WOW -C Version pA Host amd Guest x nonSxS PublicKeyToken l b bf ad e in the store hash mismatch SR Cannot repair member file l quot opencl dll quot of microsoft-windows-RemoteFX-clientVM-RemoteFXWDDMDriver-WOW -C Version pA Host amd Guest x nonSxS PublicKeyToken l b bf ad e in the store hash mismatch Both files seem to be dlls for the graphics card I guess those are not the root cause I reset IE again enable DOM Storage and experience the same problem

Hello. I recently had the problem of not being able to get online unless in safe mode and have been trying to find a cure. I ran the network diagnostics thing and in the "Winsock Status" part it said "error attempting to validate the winsock base providers. A reset is needed".

It said to call XP support but I have just uninstalled Sygate Personal firewall and now I'm able to surf the net again.

Does anyone know what happened and why Sygate was the problem? Thank you.

A:Online only in safe mode question

The firewall was more than likely blocking a connection to the internet to 'protect' you.

I have a Dell Vostro operating with XP The other day I started getting the quot blue screen quot with a message about quot irql not less or equal quot I was able to run Driver Update software and update all my drivers but I still kept getting the error in fact it started doing it after only next? I under what mode' works do do 'safe - It about - minutes after booting I tried restoring to a week prior to when all the problems started but that didn t work I tried reloading a windows registry file with a backup from a week or so ago as well -- no difference I ran a It works under 'safe mode' - what do I do next? complete registry file quot fix quot software It works under 'safe mode' - what do I do next? nada Now the computer boots runs for a little while and freezes completely -- it doesn t even go into the blue screen I am able to run it fine in safe mode with networking but I m not sure what to do next I researched this enough to know that it probably relates to a driver problem although it sounds as though it could be just about anything I uninstalled quite a few programs but that didn t help In safe mode I can still run my Driver Update and uninstall drivers or go to the device manager but I just don t know where to start There are so many drivers -- how do I know which It works under 'safe mode' - what do I do next? to uninstall It would take about nine months to try each one individually test the computer then try another one Any suggestions as to how I should proceed Is there anyway to know which driver is the culprit Or should I remove everything format the drive and reinstall windows and start from scratch Would that even be sure to work ANY help would be greatly appreciated Barbara nbsp

A:It works under 'safe mode' - what do I do next?

Aha! I couldn't bear to wait for an answer so I started messing around. I had been ripping a ton of CDs lately, and formatting some, so I thought I'd start with my CD drives. I disabled the drives for both and my computer has been working perfectly in regular (not safe) mode, going on 6 hours now. Tomorrow, I'll enable one and test it, then the other if necessary. If I'm lucky, that will prove it's the drives or their drivers. I'm still under warranty for the computers, so if it's the drives, I'm home safe.

Wish me luck and I'll leave another post tomorrow to let you know how things turned out; perhaps my experience will help someone else in the future.

I ve installed Windows XP SP Fresh after I had some other hardware problems Everything seemed to work fine until I managed to get into Windows The OS refuses to read ANY dvd cd that I put inside If instead I boot to Safe-Mode the DVD-RW works fine Of course I tried to switch the DVD-RW with another one but the results were the same My system specs are Motherboard ASUS P LD with latest Bios CPU P EE Ghz HDD GB Maxtor Eide Master Pioneer DVD-RW D Slave HDD GB Maxtor SATA RAM x Vitesta Mhz VGA Nvidia GTClick to expand My guess is that it s a software windows problem since NO DVD-RW or DVD-Rom works unless I am in safe-mode I ve spent almost hours googling for a solution but with no luck For instance some guys were suggesting to regedit something related to an uninstall of burning software but since I m on a clean install it doesn t apply or others were suggesting to quot uninstall quot the dvd and let windows recognize it after a reboot tried but didn t solve it others again suggested to install Chipset s drivers of my MoBo did it but didn t work or to upgrade the DVD-Rom how Safe-Mode, fix ONLY it? to works in Bios to the latest version did that too but nothing changed Also I did all the hardware suggestions I found like try another cable invert cables mount units one DVD-Rom works ONLY in Safe-Mode, how to fix it? by one etc but still everything work everywhere BUT in windows normal-mode Something that was strange though is that I installed Windows from CD flawleslly I am pretty much lost but I am so close to the solution I can feel it Any one can enlighten me Regards nbsp

Hey Guys...
First of all thanks for all your help on previous issues I have had. Anyway, I am on my brother-in-laws computer and he is having strange issue. His internet is not connecting. I have tried everything. IP address, DNS and everything are fine. Renewed everything, he has a working IP address. I CAN connect to the internet using the web browser included in "bitlord" program and also AIM connects to its server without a problem. However if I try to connect via IE or Firefox they do not work ("web page could not be displayed") UNLESS I am in safe mode. Then everything works fine. What should I do.... I have already tried the following..

1) Spybot search and destroy
2) Combofix
3) Ad-aware search
4) Reinstall IE7

thanks!

Hi All, i just received a dell Optiplex GX620 from a friend, because she bought a new one. I brought it home, started it up, and it froze just before the XP log in screen. I started it in safe mode, and I can access everything from there, except the internet. I tried to do an OS restore through the i386 folder, and it says that there are files missing. I don't have the boot disks, she lost them the last time she moved. I tried the <ctrl>+<F11> and that didn't do anything. I have run out of ideas on what to do. Please help!

I tried system restore but I am unable to access it. It keeps saying I need to run in normal mode to turn system restore on but I can only run the computer in safe mode. The last configuration that "works" option just starts Windows and then shuts down completely. Is there anything I can do to restore Windows or something to get it running smoothly? Is there a way to bypass the disabled system restore?

Installed a new burner, and it will only work in PIO mode. In DMA mode it freezes up my computer. It is the only thing hooked up to my secondary ide cable, and is set to master. Any suggestions on what is wrong? Went and bought another brand, and it does the same thing.

What is the make and model of the burner? Have you installed the latest drivers for it?

I have Windows x installed Everything seems to be working Mode. Safe Tried JRE could everything only i in works fine i think but i'm JRE only works in Safe Mode. Tried everything i could not really sure except Java JRE JDK is not working both in IE Chrome or Firefox either x or x versions Thing is it's working in Safe Mode Everything with Java in Safe Mode works although in Normal mode it isnt even detected applets wont start or give alerts to continue with the loading of the applet Also another thing that bothers me is that JRE only works in Safe Mode. Tried everything i could i have installed some time ago a Microsoft Windows Update and that messed with my IE and Firefox browsers they only work with software rendering instead of GPU rendering if i disable this option IE and FF become useless and they only work without extensions anyone knows the problem i'm talking about and if a fix is available About the main problem Java not working i'm really clueless Tried cleaning the registry with ccleaner installing uninstalling with Revo Uninstaller and Martau Total Uninstaller i found the remains with the program Everything and removing them with Revo ran Malwarebytes nothing came up

A:JRE only works in Safe Mode. Tried everything i could

Uh oh!  Registry cleaners are snake oil.  They aren't needed, they do no good, and they can cause problems that're difficult to diagnose and very difficult to fix.  I'd back up any data you don't want to lose, then restore to factory settings.
And by the way, Java has had a whole lot of problems reported with it.  I'd do without it if possible.

I need some help...I will do my best to describe what I am experiencing, any help is appreciated

I have Vista on my laptop, it all started by not being able to open internet, I could only open it in safe mode. While I was in safe mode with networking searching for a solution, I lost the ability to be online at all, safe mode or not. Then the dreaded blue screen popped up, just for a second, so I quickly rebooted in safe mode without networking. I then ran Rkill and am currently running Malwarebytes that has always worked so well for me....that's all I know what to do so far hoping by posting here I can get to the bottom of this. Thanks

This version will download a randomly named file (Recommended)Zipped Mirror
This version will download a zip file you will need to extract first. If you use this mirror, please extract the zip file to your desktop.Disconnect from the Internet and close all running programs.Temporarily disable any real-time active protection so your security programs will not conflict with gmer's driver.Double-click on the randomly named GMER file (i.e. n7gmo46c.exe) and allow the gmer.sys driver to load if asked.Note: If you downloaded the zipped version, extract the file to its own folder such as C:\gmer and then double-click on gmer.exe.
GMER will open to the Rootkit/Malware tab and perform an automatic quick scan when first run. (do not use the computer while the scan is in progress)If you receive a WARNING!!! about rootkit activity and are asked to fully scan your system...click NO.Now click the Scan button. If you see a rootkit warning window, click OK.When the scan is finished, click the Save... button to save the scan results to your Desktop. Save the file as gmer.log.Click the Copy button and paste the results into your next reply.Exit GMER and be sure to re-enable your anti-virus, Firewall and any other security programs you had disabled.IMPORTANT! If for some reason GMER refuses to run, try again. If it still fails, try to UN-check "Devices" in right pane.If still no joy, try to run it from Safe Mode.

Hello, Eemuman
Welcome to TSF

My name is Billy O'Neal and I will be helping you. (Billy or Bill is fine, if you like.)
Please give me some time to look over your computer's log(s).
Please take note of the following:In the meantime, please refrain from making any changes to your computer.
Also, even if things appear to be running better, there is no guarantee that everything is finished. Please continue to check this forum post in order to ensure we get your system completely clean. We do not want to clean you part-way up, only to have the system re-infect itself. :)
If you do not understand any step(s) provided, please do not hesitate to ask before continuing. I would much rather clarify instructions or explain them differently than have something important broken.
Finally, please reply using the button in the lower left hand corner of your screen.
Old topics are closed after 3 days with no reply, and working topics are closed after 5 days. If for any reason you cannot complete instructions within that time, that's fine, just put a post here so that I know you're still here. We get a lot of people who simply leave, and if there is no contact for that amount of time I will have to assume you have "vanished" .

We need to create an OTViewIt ReportPlease download OTViewIt by OldTimer.
Save it to your desktop.
Double click on the icon on your desktop.
Click the "Scan All Users" checkbox.
Push the button.
Two reports will open, copy and paste them in a reply here:OTViewIt.txt <-- Will be opened
Extra.txt <-- Will be minimized
We need to scan for rootkits with GMERPlease download gmer.zip and save to your desktop.alternate download site 1
alternate download site 2

Unzip/extract the file to its own folder. (Click here for information on how to do this if not sure. Win 2000 users click here.)
When you have done this, disconnect from the Internet and close all running programs.
Note: There is a small chance this application may crash your computer so save any work you have open.
Double-click on Gmer.exe to start the program.
Allow the gmer.sys driver to load if asked.
If it gives you a warning at program start about rootkit activity and asks if you want to run a scan...click NO.
Click on "Settings", then check the first five settings:System Protection and Tracing
Processes
Save created processes to the log
Drivers
Save loaded drivers to the log

You will be prompted to restart your computer. Please do so.
Run Gmer again and click on the Rootkit tab.
Look at the right hand side (under Files) and uncheck all drives with the exception of your C drive.
Make sure all other boxes on the right of the screen are checked, EXCEPT for "Show All".
Important! Please do not select the "Show all" checkbox during the scan.
Click on the "Scan" and wait for the scan to finish.Note: Before scanning, make sure all other running programs are closed and no other actions like a scheduled antivirus scan will occur while this scan completes. Also do not use your computer during the scan.

When completed, click on the Copy button and right-click on your Desktop, choose "New" > Text document. Once the file is created, open it and right-click again and choose Paste or Ctrl+V. Save the file as gmer.txt and copy the information in your next reply.
Note: If you have any problems, try running GMER in Safe Mode

In your next reply, please include the following:OTViewIt.txt

I don't know what happened but my computer has a screen that has safe mode, safe mode with command, last known configuration and start up normally. I've tried all of them and it just comes back to the same screen. What do i do??

just as an fyi, i don't know much about fixing computers but i know enough, so if you know a solution, please explain it to me, just a little bit

A:Safe mode, last known config, nothing works!!

If you can't get in through Safe Mode, then you'll probably have to do a repair installation. Do you have your windows xp cd.

The XP Pro box does have a cd-rom and usb problem. Both cd-rom and usb work perfectly under safe mode but does not work at all after booting normally!

There are no error messages and no problems found in "device manager".

Problem occurred after infections (now removed). There's no restore point.

I tried to reinstall the cdrom-driver and I even tried to manually remove the old drivers for XP to use fresh ones. I don't know if I did it correct.

I'm really in need for som help here, I don't know what to do.

A:cdrom and usb only works in safe mode

Hi vict0r,The repair of malware can lead to damage to existing files in some cases. Go to Start / Run and copy-paste or type in sfc /scannow and click on ok. The scan will look for missing or corrupt files and try to repair or replace them with good ones. It may ask you to insert your windows cd.Let me know how this goes.Zllio

Ever since I came back to school on the 17th, my internet has not been working. In normal mode, I'd get a connection for maybe a minute or two and then it would just cut off and say no connection detected. Then it would come back after a few minutes and then just cut off again. But then I went into safe mode with networking and my connection is fine. I've read countless forums to try and solve this problem but I can't seem to do it, so any help would be much appreciated. Thanks

P.S. I have a Sony Vaio VGN-NS135E and I'm using an ethernet cable.

HI,

My PS2 keyboard decided to stop working. Bought a new one and same problem.
It will work fine in Safe Mode, or to move around in the BIOS. After fully booted to XP Home, I can hear a faint "beep" from inside the computer each time a key is pressed.
And still no characters will come forth.

I am lost

Thanks

Chris
