I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Generally windows gets slow with age. Have you installed many program's, are there many icons near the system clock? A lot of program's have services set to run at startup even though its really not need. If there are a lot this can use up ram, slowing the system.

Although with your spec, that would take some doing. Always try and use at least two virus scanners. Download malwarebytes (free) and give a scan with that. If your system uses a traditional hard drive ( not SSD) make sure it has been defragmented.

I thought the problem was with the screen as when I attached external monitor the monitor showed windows etc all normally. I changed the screen and then replaced battery and restarted but it still boots up in the main colour of red, have tried re-calibration of colour but this does not correct this issue. Laptop has Intel I5 processor and 8gb of ram and cpu is running cool. Can anyone provide me an answer to this frustrating problem which I thought was the VGA but maybe it could be with the LED cabling which is my next focus!! Open to any solutions from the community , thanks in advance!! Geoff

I cannot see it on the list and most models seem to have a prefix which mine does not.  Has anyone upgraded to windows 10 on this model successfully?

What does the Windows 10 upgrade icon say? If it says you are good to go, make sure you have all updates installed then go for it. It won't be on the Acer list unless it needs new drivers that aren't already ready.

I have a Toshiba Satellite laptop A500. It comes with the option for either x64/x86 and I reformatted hard drive just yesterday. I chose to use x64 because of the 3GB RAM restriction using x86.

It takes a long time to boot up. I've disabled as many programs as I can to start-up with Windows. Don't have an anti-virus program as yet, and I'm using the default Windows 7 Firewall.

Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo 2200MHz.
RAM: 4GB DDR2 399MHz
GPU: 1GB DDR3 500MHz
500GB Sata Hard Drive.

Any tips on making it run any quicker?
Also, what would be the best anti-virus to use?

A:Windows 7 64bit running so slow.

Welcome aboard

The best antivirus ... a controvertial issue, but you may use the Microsoft Security Essentials. One of the lightest AVs.

You disable all the start up programs, and see it it works or not . Nothing is must to be there .

I have recently upgrade from win7 home premium to win7 ultimate. I upgrade due to my home premium running far to slow, it would take at least 20minutes to boot up and wouldn't open up programs when booted up. I reinstalled home premium and it ran fine for about a week then this issue arose again. I then have upgrade my OS to ultimate and it ran fine for a grand total of 1day, it is now running really slow and I can barely do anything on it what so ever. This issue is occurring on a Toshiba satellite c660-220 laptop. I have had Ubuntu Linux installed on this laptop and this issue didn't occur on that OS, so is it a hardware issue or a software issue? And what can I do to fix it?

A:windows 7 ultimate 64bit running far to slow.

You have a dual-core Intel Pentium T4500 processor clocked at 2.3GHz in a very entry level LT. It's going to be slow but not that slow. You should be able to tune it for 1 minute +/- startup times.

There are tons of threads here on how to do this, read them, it's worth your time.

Hi,

I've had my laptop for 4 years and now it's been running really slow. Clicking on programs, even just the Menu, would usually take at least 10 seconds before anything happens. I've run the disk fragmenter, disk clean-up plus I've deleted and transferred A LOT of files. Now I have a free space of 187GB! Would it be because of a virus of some sort? I have Microsoft Essentials and I think it's been doing a good job... Does this mean I need to re-format my laptop already? I'm in the process of writing my thesis and this is making everything more stressful than it already is...

This may be a bit of a challenge but I am trying to help my parents fix their computer remotely All I know is that apparently the computer started running very slow days ago and they can't do much of anything I have TeamViewer installed to help them with issues from time to time and I have spent close to hours on this now Computer is a Toshiba laptop with AMD E- APU with Radeon HD Graphics GHz KB Level cache GB RAM I swear and running responding 8.1 programs incredibly slow stop Windows 64bit it had GB but is showing only GB and a GB HDD Running Win Bit In any event I have run a full virus scan Viper and a full scan with Malwarebytes and neither detected anything However I can barely get around on the computer If I open chrome I get the page crash error or it just loads ultra slow and I get a Windows 8.1 64bit running incredibly slow and programs stop responding not responding message I attempted to get into msconfig exe which took an enormous amount of time like minutes and once I did I looked at what was starting up at start up Nothing unusual there I attempted to do a scan on the hard drive and it said I didn't Windows 8.1 64bit running incredibly slow and programs stop responding need to do one as Windows detected the drive as ok I ran one anyway and after minutes or so it told me Windows couldn't determine a problem Windows 8.1 64bit running incredibly slow and programs stop responding and a full scan was needed I passed on doing that for now as it will want to reboot and scan before any remote software can load where I will be able to monitor it Even getting into task manager was a major challenge Once I did get in I didn't really see anything unusual other than CPU and Disk activity were very high Another issue that is happening is I went into file explorer and was trying to delete about MB of temp files and when click delete files the progress box pops up and just sits there doing nothing after minutes or so it was at and said it was going to be approximately year to finish the delete Makes me think there is a HDD issue but also the system only showing GB of RAM has me concerned Either it had GB at one point and a GB chip has died or it always had GB of RAM which seems crazy low to run Win but maybe it's possible In any event prior to the other day the laptop has always run fine for them They don't do much other than check email and maybe light video streaming and Facebook Any suggestions would be appreciated This is incredibly frustrating to work on

A:Windows 8.1 64bit running incredibly slow and programs stop responding

I do a lot of work remotely be it via RA or TeamViewer for  clients & others.  Sometimes there is a limitation on what can be done remotely.  Anyway, that said...
1. I advise, initially the RAM should be checked, even swapped out w/ new.  It would be silly for a 64-bit machine to have less the 4GB RAM since an x86 can't/doesn't use more than about 3-3.5GB, x64 will.
2. Is the HDD making any unusual noises.
3. How much free space is on the drive.
4. What events  or activity was there 2 days ago?
5. Do a System Restore.
6. If #5 changes nothing, put it back to Factory.
7. If #6 changes nothing then it is, indeed, a hardware issue.
8. How old is the laptop?
Cheers,Drew

Hi everyone, I'm looking for some advice with the day-to-day running of my laptop, now nicknamed the Craptop.

It is quite a dated model now, Acer Aspire 5735, running Windows Vista Home Basic SP2. It used to be pretty speedy when it came to YouTube videos and other media, but it is now pretty awful, with videos constantly stop-starting and jumping.

The whole system seems to run a whole lot slower than it used to, what sort of things should I be trying/looking for?

Any help appreciated

Do the following in that laptop so we have more information to work with.

Download and save the TSG System Information Utility (SysInfo.exe) to the desktop.
After it's been downloaded and saved, double-click it to run it.
Information about your computer will appear.

Hi All,
I have a friend at work with an Acer Aspire 5100 laptop running Windows Vista Home Basic and AVG Free Version.
Vista is running so slow it’s not funny. IE: to open the pictures folder will take about 45 – 130 seconds and then to open each photo it will take up to 3 minutes.
The first thing I could find is it only has 512mb RAM shared with the graphics card so I have ordered 2 x 2GB DDR2 667MHz RAM Sticks for her.
I should get them Monday or Tuesday.
Is there anything I should be looking for that would slow vista down so bad?
The other thing is that Acer have split the 80Gb HDD into 2 x 35Gb Partitions, I was thinking of reformatting the HDD back to just 1 x 78Gb Partition.
Does anyone have any theories on this matter?
Thanks for your help and comments
Andrew

Hi there I have an Aspire This has been a great laptop for me but over the past few weeks the power adapter connection has been really sketchy The issue seems to be at the connection where it plugs into the computer itself The power cord seems to come disconnected somehow frequently If I unplug it from the laptop and then put the plug back in again this fixes it for a few seconds but then the power button light starts flashing and it's disconnected again nbsp I was hoping it was an issue with the adapter itself so I bought a replacement one but it isn't any better than the one that came with the power supply Aspire 5750 laptop Is this a common issue I assume it's a problem with the connection inside the laptop where you put the plug in but I'm off warranty and have no idea what to do to fix it Do I need a new laptop While I'm fairly decent with most software programs hardware for me is a totally different Aspire 5750 power supply ballgame Any help would be appreciated nbsp Thanks

The power socket is soldered to the power board  and repeated pulling and pushing it can sometimes pull loose or crack a solder connection. This is a problem which suddenly appeared, after years of use with no problem.  It is just this one device, Aspire laptop, that has the problem (we have 2 smartphones, 2 desktops, 2 laptops and a tablet).  So nothing wrong with network, router etc.  It's a problem for this one computer only. 1) laptop will initially connect to network, automatically as one would expect.2) after several minutes of use it will state that there is no longer an internet connection (at that moment other devices connected no problem and router signals all look good).3) closing browser and re-opening does no good.4) doing a restart of the computer ALWAYS fixes the problem, it comes back up with WiFi connection, but it will lose the signal again, same way in another several minutes. Should I purchase and replace the WiFi card myself?  I have replaced boards in computers several times over the years and understand the precautions.

With your receipt, take laptop to any busines-oriented computer store [for example I've used Altex in AustinTX], let them fix the problem for you. Once, they've fixed your laptop, make changes in video configurations in Windows OS, after making external media backups of your OS partition.

Hi everyone

My laptop Acer aspire 5750 shuts down after few seconds at power on. I have checked the ram, hd, battery, power pack on a similar brand laptop and are all working good.

I removed the fan and heat sinks, cleaned them plus the inside cover. After all this I had every thing back together powered on machine and found fault still persists.

At the moment right now I think I have a faulty mother board caused by a short.

I need assistance if anyone can help me get around fixing this fault.

Thank you

A:Acer Aspire 5750 Shuts down after few seconds of powering up.

If you think it's caused by a short, you'd have to remove the board from the shell, lay it on cardboard, and try and power it up that way.

If everything is secured in place, I'd lean towards motherboard failure as well.

Hi folks
I've got an Aspire 5750 laptop and am having network problems.
My network is a Workgroup, all machines running flavours of Win7.
FROM the Aspire I can log into the other comps and access the disks on them.
TO the Aspire: in explorer on another machine I can see the symbol and name (ACER-I5) of the Aspire but cannot connect to it.
Network diagnostics states:
------------------------------------
Problems found
Your computer appears to be correctly configured, but the
device or recsource (ACER-I5) is not responding.
------------------------------------
Any suggestion as to what to look for to solve this would be most welcome as I am somewhat of a network novice.
Regards
Bob

A:Problems with Acer Aspire 5750 network connection

Try removing the Microsoft Virtual Mini Wi-fi Adapter.

As far as I'm aware, it's something Microsoft has introduced for connecting to a wireless hotspot so if you've no need for it just delete it.

My personal laptop has shut down several times after the power button was pressed. In some cases it powers and and boots up to the windows screen or sometimes halfway to the windows screen and shuts down.

I checked with a similar model laptop and confirmed ram, hd, battery, power pack are all working good.

I stripped laptop and cleaned cooling fan, inside cover and heat sink. I even removed the dvd drive and cpu.

After putting back every thing and retested my the fault still persists.

I am suspecting I may have a faulty mb may be caused by a short somewhere.

I really need assistance here to work around this fault to get the machine working properly.

Hi,

All of the attached DMP files are of the IRQL_GT_ZERO_AT_SYSTEM_SERVICE (4a) bugcheck.

This indicates that a thread is returning to user mode from a system call when its IRQL is still above PASSIVE_LEVEL.

This is most likely being caused by a problematic and or buggy device driver, so let's go ahead and enable Driver Verifier to get further information:

Driver Verifier:

What is Driver Verifier?

Driver Verifier is included in Windows 8, 7, Windows Server 2008 R2, Windows Vista, Windows Server 2008, Windows 2000, Windows XP, and Windows Server 2003 to promote stability and reliability; you can use this tool to troubleshoot driver issues. Windows kernel-mode components can cause system corruption or system failures as a result of an improperly written driver, such as an earlier version of a Windows Driver Model (WDM) driver.

Essentially, if there's a 3rd party driver believed to be at issue, enabling Driver Verifier will help flush out the rogue driver if it detects a violation.

Before enabling Driver Verifier, it is recommended to create a System Restore Point:

Vista - START | type rstrui - create a restore point
Windows 7 - START | type create | select "Create a Restore Point"
Windows 8 - Restore Point - Create in Windows 8

How to enable Driver Verifier:

Start > type "verifier" without the quotes > Select the following options -

1. Select - "Create custom settings (for code developers)"
2. Select - "Select individual settings from a full list"
3. Check the following boxes -
- Special Pool
- Pool Tracking
- Force IRQL Checking
- Deadlock Detection
- Security Checks (Windows 7 & 8)
- DDI compliance checking (Windows 8)
- Miscellaneous Checks
4. Select - "Select driver names from a list"
5. Click on the "Provider" tab. This will sort all of the drivers by the provider.
6. Check EVERY box that is NOT provided by Microsoft / Microsoft Corporation.
7. Click on Finish.
8. Restart.

Important information regarding Driver Verifier:

- If Driver Verifier finds a violation, the system will BSOD.

- After enabling Driver Verifier and restarting the system, depending on the culprit, if for example the driver is on start-up, you may not be able to get back into normal Windows because Driver Verifier will flag it, and as stated above, that will cause / force a BSOD.

If this happens, do not panic, do the following:

- Boot into Safe Mode by repeatedly tapping the F8 key during boot-up.

- Once in Safe Mode - Start > type "system restore" without the quotes.

- Choose the restore point you created earlier.
If you did not set up a restore point, do not worry, you can still disable Driver Verifier to get back into normal Windows:

- Start > Search > type "cmd" without the quotes.

- To turn off Driver Verifier, type in cmd "verifier /reset" without the quotes.
・ Restart and boot into normal Windows.

How long should I keep Driver Verifier enabled for?

It varies, many experts and analysts have different recommendations. Personally, I recommend keeping it enabled for at least 24 hours. If you don't BSOD by then, disable Driver Verifier.

My system BSOD'd, where can I find the crash dumps?

They will be located in %systemroot%\Minidump

Any other questions can most likely be answered by this article:
Using Driver Verifier to identify issues with Windows drivers for advanced users

Hey guys. So I've got Win7 64bit on my laptop its nice and all but it seems to just be really clunky and slow. Sometimes i feel that my computer is almost working overtime to keep up. Opening programs is always slow and has delay.

I've been putting my first build together and completed it a couple of days ago. I was using it, but realized I had accidentally installed a 32bit version rather then the 64bit of windows 7 and as a result my ram was being under utilized. I double checked my cpu and installed the 64bit version of windows, but know that I have everything reinstalled, the windows updates seemed to be taking forever, and the computer is acting very slow and unresponsive, it ran much better using the 32bit version of windows.

I'm at wits end, as the two set ups were practically identical, aside from the 32/64 change.

A:Acer aspire v5 running slow :-(

Hi Tera The slow running of your computer might be a software or an hardware issue. Firstly, reformat & reinstall Windows. To do this, type Acer Recovery Management from the Start Screen (or press Windows key & "S" from the desktop). Next select "Restore Factory Settings" and follow all on screen prompts. This will take quite a while to run. Just remember to back up any documents/pictures firstly. Once Windows has finished installing, remove any programs you wish by going to control panel > Programs & features. If you can't find Control Panel, use the search method as mentioned above, but type "Uninstall a program" If after everything, the computer is still slow, then it may point to an hardware issue. Contact Acer support for your region for further help.

I just bought an Aspire ES 15. Just loaded it up. I'm experiencing a surprising amount of lag. I press the start menu and it takes a second to open up. I try to scroll down in a window and its slow, delayed, laggy. It's not what I would expect from a brand new laptop. I can't believe how slow this brand new computer is responding to simple tasks. Is this normal?

A:Aspire ES 15 Running Slow. Brand new.

I am not sure what software your using or how much Ram you have but I would think that it may be that Windows is doing updates and the Ram. Sadly this is something that can happen when it first starts out. I would let it do its thing for a little while and see if after you restart it if it works better.... James

Run a good virus scanner, like MalwareBytes Anti-Malware, to verify you don't have something nasty dragging it down.

Hello. I've had no problems with this laptop up until recently when it started to freeze randomly. It almost always happens when i leave the computer idle(no mouse or keyboard interactions) for a couple of minutes. It also always freezes when I try to install the eight Windows Updates that I have. The freezing causes the fans to go up to max and forces me to hard restart the computer. Yesterday, I went on for eight hours without any freezes because I was active the whole time. And then, when I leave it for a couple of minutes the freezing starts.Have anyone had similar problems? Could it be something hardware related maybe? Help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Hello all,

I've recently purchased a PC with the following specs:

Processor: AMD A4 -4000, 2x 3.00 GHz boxed
Motherboard: AROCK FM2A68M - DG3+
RAM. Kingston 4GB 1600 MHz DDR3 Non-ECC CL11 DIMM SR x8

I use my PC to create webpages, edit some pictures, send and receive emails, word processing etc. I don't use it to edit videos or play Games. I do multitasking however eg. Chrome browser has multiple tabs open, while a Word processor is running. I'd like to know if this PC is good to run Windows 10.

Will appreciate your good input. Thanks

My J3G68AV laptop will not operate with the AC Power Adapter only.  I purchased a replacement AC Power Supply thinking perhaps the original was bad, but the new one will not allow the laptop to run without the battery.  The AC Connection light is white when plugged in and the laptop charges when plugged in and in sleep mode.  However, the laptop only runs on battery power even when connected to AC and does not charge while operating.  The power software does not indicate being plugged in and only shows battery remaining while in-use.  The battery test did not indicate any issues with the battery.

How much do you have on RAM? What is the current capacity of your HDD? How old is your PC?
If you could provide this info then it will be more helpful!

I read previous posts. They were old and it wouldn't let me post to it. I'm sure this is redundant for you. I have Windows Business 64bit. I want to run AutoCad 2009 32bit. Windows compatibility site lists only 64bit as compatible. It is a very expensive software. Anything else I can do? My specs are loaded. Thanks, streamsaver

A:Running 32 bit programs again on Windows Vista 64bit

Hello streamsaver,
Take a look here, it lists AutoCAD 2009 as being compatible with both x32 and x64 Vista.
Have you tried to install it ?.
Hope this helps, good luck and post your results.

Greetings everyone I have searched the web have tried several solutions but nothing worked and I have no clue how to open Windows Process programs 7 64bit: don't running, but solve this problem - gt hence I turn to experts The Problem Some applications Windows 7 64bit: Process running, but programs don't open won't start They are shown in the task manager but the software does not run and can also be not stopped once started What I have tried so far I followed the Solutions described here in a previous thread http www sevenforums com crashes-d dont-open html Result Deactivating all startups services etc the same way as described - gt no improvement Running malwarebytes has revealed a trojan infection that my avira software had not detected Also a Windows 7 64bit: Process running, but programs don't open complete system scans has been completed in safe mode As a standard eversince I installed Win I previously performed regular complete system scans under Windows But also booting with the Avira Rescue System What I have noticed The metioned applications run when Win x is in safe mode Here I compared active services The only difference between the list in safe and in normal mode is that in normal mode the Avira Scheduler as well as the Avira Real Time services where active I could not find a way to deacivate those services in normal mode Does anyone know what the source of the problem is What is the liklyhood that Malware is involved Should I use the Win CD repair option Will that be a permanent solution Thank you in advance Pook

A:Windows 7 64bit: Process running, but programs don't open

Hi I solved the issue: When trying to reinstall Avira Antivir, i noticed that although all should have been previously unistalled Avira Desktop was still registered as installed by the avira installer but not by the windows. Then, I downloaded avira registry cleaner, removed antivir completly from the system before activating the cleaner. The problem persisted. Then I manually searched the registry for anything related to avira and found a key that still targeted the old repository. After manually deleting it and then reinstalling avira antivir, everything worked as it should.

A:Windows 7 64BIT 'This computer is not running genuine Windows'

This may simply be caused by a bad set of Intel Rapid Storage Technology drivers -

Installing the Intel Rapid Storage Drivers
try downloading and installing them from here - http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&ProdId=2101&DwnldID=21730

(you want the iata_enu.exe download)

Once complete, please reboot twice, then post another MGADiag report.

Hi
after downloading Norton 360 Version 5 , and doing all the updates , it showed me a message that says do you will need to do some work on your own by going to this page and then download FixTDSS.exe

After running FixTDSS.exe and restarting the system, the Windows won't work so I tried to fix that by repairing but no success, so if I do the restore point it will delete my norton 360 and I will have the same problems all over again.

I am using right now my same computer but with live Ubuntu.

please advice

Every time I start Windows a bunch of Windows Premium running 7 tasks starts want 64bit I Home not do tasks I don't want start themselves Some are in the tray some are running in the TASK MANAGER I then go to CCleaner that has a STARTUP tool that allows me to DISABLE or DELETE but I delete which I do to all except my Anti-virus and Firewall When I install a program I DO check quot do not load at startup quot but they seem to ignore it Windows 7 64bit Home Premium starts tasks I do not want running load their tasks anyway For example now I have CCleaner crashreporter exe SiteAdvisor Sink to receive asynchronous calls Cyberlink Snagit etc Most of these I think are agents to restart them but chances are I will not use in this session and they take up memory etc I can go to the Task Manager and quot end process quot for this session and DELETE them from CCleaner Startup but at reboot there they are again IS THERE anyway to tell Windows STOP or ask me or something to exclude tasks from automatically starting

A:Windows 7 64bit Home Premium starts tasks I do not want running

Go to start button, then go to run
In run type msconfig then OK
In misconfig go to start up
Then check the ones you want to start up
Boot computer
What happens
If that does not work, it usually means that the program is made to be an automatic start up. In that case not much you can do.
Site Advisor you will need at start up or it cannot do its job

Hi,

As of last month I've had alot of issues with my wireless connection, it started on one of my laptops running Intel Wifi 5100 then it happend on my other running Intel Wifi 6200, both built in adapters.

Router is d-link dir-655 with firmware 1.33 when problems started, now it's running 1.34

WPA2 for security over the wireless

Updated both my laptopts to latest driver 13.1.1.1 from Intel but its still same problem.
Sometimes it detects the wireless network but can't connect, sometimes it can connect but drops connection after exactly 2minutes.

Tried with another router, same issues there.

Re-installed the laptop with the 5100-built-in card to win7pro 32bit, still same error just that its NETw5v32 spamming eventlog.

Anyone got any ides?

if updating the driver did not work, you might want to try this:
Go to Control Panel->System->Hardware Tab->Device Manager. Select Intel Pro under Network Adapters. Right Click and Select Properties, then under power manager, you can uncheck the box that say:
"Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power"

You might want to update power manager driver from the manufactue's site

after downloading Norton 360 Version 5 , and doing all the updates , it showed me a message that says do you will need to do some work on your own by going to this page and then download FixTDSS.exe

After running FixTDSS.exe and restarting the system, the Windows won't work so I tried to fix that by reparing but no success, so if I do the restore point it will delete my norton 360 and I will have the same problems all over again.

I am using right now my same computer but with live Ubuntu.

please advice

A:after running FixTDSS.exe from Norton Windows 7 64bit wont start

Hello Faf90,

* Are you using the free trial or paid version of Norton?

* Did you have a preinstalled Anti Virus program on your computer when it was new?
If so how was it removed?

*What other Anti Virus programs have you used prior to this Norton install?

* Have you sought any advice from Norton Support or Norton Community?
I would imagine they may have met a similar problem before & I suspect should be able to advise you.

Hey, I recently removed a bunch of spyware and virus issues that were frequently causing my desktop to bluescreen and slow down but after removing these none of my exe files seem to open anymore in Windows anymore, has anyone faced a similar issue? I'm close to reinstalling but I have a lot of important things and if possible I would not like to go down that route. Thanks in advance!

A:Windows 7 64bit not running exe files after spyware/virus clean

Think I've pinned it down to just 32bit applications not running! As 64bit ones seem fine.

Try using the F8 to boot into safe mode. It may be that you're set to only use an external monitor instead of the builtin display.

Hi
My son has an Acer Aspire 6930g running on xp.
Upto a couple of weeks ago he was happily running his blu rays using cyberlink 10 powerdvd when he announce that they no longer played. No disc found. Normal Dvds continue to run ok.
I have tried uninstalling the programme and reinstalling but that didnt seem to work.
Before i conclude that maybe the blu ray sensor has gone is there anything else i could try (- yes i have also tried cleaning the sensor and blowing away any possible dust) Do get suspicious that it all happens as the promotions for powerdvd13 flood in each time we open powerdvd lol.
Any suggestions welcome    ty for your time

I would presume that if it work before and all the disc are still scratch free, then the read layer function of the drive is not working anymore.

ok, so i bought a new mobo a while back with the 5750. So, i was planning on getting another 5750. However, i just recently found out that when i crossfire both of the cards will run at 8x.
so, is one 5750 running at 16x the same as 5750 running at 8x, and how much of a difference would there be?

A:5750 at 16x, same thing as 2 5750 at 8x?

Theoretically the dual cards will perform better. The limited bandwidth doesn't hit the performance too hard. The real problem is that Crossfire and SLi still aren't taking full advantage of both cards (the games do not support it well, scaling is what it is.. Sometimes up to 80-90% benefit, sometimes pretty much no benefit at all from the second card)
Pretty bad situation for you, 5750 CF isn't really worth it in many purposes, 5850 costs too much and 5770 isn't significantly better than 5750)...

GMER will open to the Rootkit/Malware tab and perform an automatic quick scan when first run. (do not use the computer while the scan is in progress)If you receive a WARNING!!! about rootkit activity and are asked to fully scan your system...click NO.Now click the Scan button. If you see a rootkit warning window, click OK.When the scan is finished, click the Save... button to save the scan results to your Desktop. Save the file as gmer.log.Click the Copy button and paste the results into your next reply.Exit GMER and be sure to re-enable your anti-virus, Firewall and any other security programs you had disabled.IMPORTANT! If for some reason GMER refuses to run, try again. If it still fails, try to UN-check "Devices" in right pane.If still no joy, try to run it from Safe Mode.

Ok for the past few weeks I had been getting a message that said a resource was missing but I stupidly never wrote down what specifically was gone It said that it could not open the Dell Dock because of it and windows explorer was running slow at times and restarting periodically It but was now Vista but running is incredibly not running, Windows is, slow finally did this for about three weeks then two nights ago the computer froze so I reset it and it started on the green bar then black screen loop I tried running it in safe mode no dice and all other alternate boot options It would Windows Vista was not running, but finally is, but is now running incredibly slow hang up each time Finally I was able to get the system restore wizard up this was earlier today and reset the system to how it was days ago It actually opened Vista but in low res mode and everything is painfully slow except for the internet which runs at normalish speeds Windows Vista was not running, but finally is, but is now running incredibly slow Are there any possible causes or solutions for this I have a Dell Inspiron and Windows Vista Home Premium bit nbsp

I'm wondering if I should get the BIOS update from Acer for my laptop.
I've been having some audio stutter issues that seem to be fixed by disabling the LAN from 'device manager' (a pretty common problem and solution, apparently).

I just wonder if getting a BIOS update will make my computer more stable, because I don't want to have to keep disabling my LAN just to stop audio stutter and, in some cases, spikes in the CPU usage.
Is it safe to update my BIOS? Would I need to back-up any data before I do it?

A:BIOS Update for Acer Aspire 7720 running windows 7

Crazyedd, BIOS updates usually list info on what the update fixes. If it states that it can fix your audio issue then you should do it. If not, update your complete specs, using the link under my sig, and post in the sound and audio thread and a member will help you. Also make sure your drivers are up to date.

My Acer Aspire running Windows 7 and using an ethernet cable can't find an internet connection. It was working fine then I downloaded a pre-loaded version of Microsoft Office 10 suites and the next time I tried to get online the connection was gone. I didn't download the Office from the internet so I can't imagine it is a virus but I don't know what could have happened. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Suggestion :
Do a system restore> Pick the date before you " downloaded a pre-loaded MS Office " as your restore point.
Hopefully, that will give you back access to internet.

>>>> I downloaded a pre-loaded version of Microsoft Office 10 suites......

Were you trying to say that your computer had a pre-installed " trial version " of Microsoft Office 2010 when you first bought your computer. Trial version has since expired, and you tried to download a full paid version of the Microsoft Office 2010 ?

Hi FofR

Welcome to 7 forums.
You did a pretty good job troubleshooting on your own.
Have you checked your RAM? . . .Ahh yes I just noticed that in your post.

Does the problem persist in Safe mode?

Been having an issue lately with windows 7 taking a huge dump beginning at the "starting windows" screen after wards it can take upwards to 5-7 min just to get to the log in screen.

I have done a diag startup through msconfig with it staying the same time...

I ran sfc scannow but it only gets to 2% before it just finishes, I checked the sfcdetails log and it doesn't indicate any files that are a problem. sfc verify only gets too 100% but there are still no files that show up in the details file, even though it says there are problems...

Any advice would be amazing, if you need any more details let me know

thanks!

Hello Akirael an welcome mate another chkdsk you could try is - Start > Computer > right click on C: drive > click on Properties > Tools > Check now > in options tick both boxes and the hit Start. It will tell you the disk is iin use and the cjheck will start on the next boot up - just restart and it will run see my pic. The screen will be in black and white (DOS)
