upgrade from 7000 to 7068 FAIL

Q: upgrade from 7000 to 7068 FAIL

I tried upgrading my Windows 7 build 7000 x64 to build 7068 x64. Some time into the upgrade and error message appeared saying that a file failed to install and thus the upgrade was unsuccessful. If it is something wrong with my iso image of 7068 please direct me to where I can get a good copy of 7068 via private message or in a reply to this post.

If you guys need the exact error code I can run the install again but I'm not going to if I don't have to.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: upgrade from 7000 to 7068 FAIL

If you had a working copy of the 7000 on you may have elected to install the 7068 to another drive or partition or simply wipe the 7000 primary to see a clean install of the 7068 build. The upgrading from one build to the next can pose problems especially when trying it with beta versions of an OS.

As far as any leaks you have to run your own web search for the most part along with looking out for "fakes". You are always taking a gamble with any torrent sites to start with. The exact error code provided here would certainly be more usefull since it may be pointing to another problem other then incompatibility issues.

I had a machine I could RD into fine, then I did an Upgrade with 7068. The upgrade worked in every sense, all apps, users, settings, etc. The only thing wrong is not I can't RD into it. I have RD enabled and 'all computers' set as before. I get the "'1./2./3. not powered on or RD not setup" message. Another machine on the network that did the same (7000->7068), but was not a RD machine. We turned on RD on that machine as a test and it worked fine. I turned RD off on the broken machine, rebooted, then turned it back on, no help. Any ideas? The machine is on the network because it has things shared that I can see and access.

A:7000->7068 (x64) = lost Rem Desktop

I'm not sure what got screwed up, but it took renaming the computer to correct the problem. I tried it again and it did the same thing. RD on 7000 was working, update to 7068, RD breaks, rename computer and RD on 7068 works again.

So 7068 doesn't have all the backgrounds and user icons and such that 7000 had. Where are they on the computer? I'd lke to save them for use in later builds before I put on 7068, but I can't find where they're at.

A:7000 to 7068, saving pictures

I think it has the same images just lots extra. Anyway, you'll find the wallpapers in c:\windows\web\wallpapers, the themes in c:\windows\resouces\themes and the user images in c:\windows\winsxs & search for 'usertile'. This should help.

A:install or upgrade to 7100 from 7068

Hello Dpham, and welcome to Seven Forums.

I have always found it best to do a clean install with beta versions of a OS to avoid having any issues from a previous build in the new build.

Ive been using the above fine with clean installs of w7 but as build 7068 allows you to do an upgrade ive now done this on two PC's (going from 7057) and each one has had no internet connection afterwards, due to the firewall in SS getting messed up. Lan works fine.
After uninstalling it and reinstalling it it all works ok.

Just a heads up i guess.

Dave.

I am using Roadrunner LAN service & always have a very good connection.

Now the problem:
I have been getting automatic updates from Microsoft since I installed Office Prof. 2007 that fail to install. The little Icon is always in the tray trying to install these two & they always fail & then keep repeating the process.
These are the two:

Anyone have any ideas what could be wrong?

Untill now Windows 7 has been my system of choice, but since i've upgraded from 7057 to 7068 (i've always made upgrades and always went superb) my start menu doesn't show up, the shortcuts are all intact in All users and current user ( "%programdata%\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu" and "%appdata%\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu").

1- I have already taken ownership of all shortcuts in those folders (my account is an administrator account) and set full permissions.
2- I have made a new user account to check if using this account it solved the problem.
3- Changed location of start menu in registry. HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders

No success.

The search start menu function is working (i.e. it manages to find the hidden shortcuts in those folders)

Basically the system is working very well (+/- 1 week uptime), only this "small" problem... Any ideas?

A:Start Menu doesn't show after upgrade to 7068

Hello JJmourajr, and welcome to Seven Forums.

Usually a clean install is recommended instead since Windows 7 is still in the testing phases to avoid potential issues with remnants from the previous OS installation. However, you might see if doing a repair install may be able to fix this for you.

Hope this helps,

I upgraded from 7057 to 7068 version of Windows 7.

After the upgrade, my Sharepoint Designer 2007 is unable to open remote website on front page enabled IIS Server.
Also, I am unable to ftp to the site.

This was an upgrade, so all the installed programs were available after the upgrade. All other programs seem to be working fine.

Is there some sort of problem with Windows security...?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Hi

I installed Win 7 x64 on a new computer, on the last day the beta of 7000 was available. I have Windows Updates turned on, so I thought I'd be notified of beta updates, but I just checked, and I'm still on 7000.

How/where do I download updates?

And can I install them over 7000? I assume so, since I've found messages detailing which drivers needed updating after installing 7048 etc., but I do want to be sure.

This is my first post to the forum - apologies if I've asked a question that's in the archive. I did search, but didn't come up with anything. Are there FAQs anywhere?

Thanks

Mary

A:How do I upgrade from 7000?

You have to download the newer build from torrent sites, Microsoft has not released any new ones yet and they wont until May when they release the official RC1, you can upgrade to the newest build but some people have had problems doing this so it would be best to do a clean install. Another good thing about the latest build is that it wont expire until next year.

A:7000 to 7048 upgrade, no go

Hi xtrem and welcome,

Are you trying to upgrade from a 32 bit to a 64 bit build or vice versa? If so, you can only upgrade from a 32 bit to a 32 bit or 64 to a 64, not 32 bit to 64 bit. You'd have to do a clean install for that.

But have you actually restarted and ran Setup again like it says? Sounds weird but you have to run setup, then it tells you to restart and run setup again. Do that and it should install.

Hello all,
I have a laptop computer, the first I have ever had, and I was wondering if you know if it is possibe to upgrade things on this system, from what I understand I cannot upgrade the cpu or the video card, which is fine as they are decent, 3.4ghz cpu and 128mb video card, however I want to add more ram (go from 1gb to 2gb) as well as add a larger hard drive, actually I would like to add a second hard drive if possible, but a larger one will do? Any ideas on how I could find out if this machine can be upgraded?

Nothing to worry about at all.
I have upgraded v7000 to v7022, v7022 to v7048, v7048 to v7052.
And if you do encounter a problem during the upgrade, it has a rollback feature that will take you back to your previous version.

Hello everybody!
I tried installing the upgrade build 7057 over 7000 (x86) and it seemed to work fine. But then Windows 7 boots into the message "preparing your desktop for first use". It follows the message "Setup will continue after restarting your computer" and after ca. 1 Minute it restarts and does exactly the same. I tried that for about 5 times and it keeps doing that. No error messages.

Did anybody have this problem as well? Any ideas for troubleshooting?

Thank you guys!

Addition: I have just seen that people have problems with Norton 360, which I have installed, too. Maybe I can boot into safemode and remove Norton - I will try this tonight and report.

A:No automatic screen rotation on Inspiron 7000 2-in-1 following Windows 10 upgrade

Well, seems I figured this out...
When you uninstall the sensor devices using Device Manager, Windows 10 does not detect them following a reboot and automatically install drivers like Windows would normally do for any other device (as long as you have that setting enabled in the "Devices and Printers" dialog, it's on by default), as I had previously mentioned.
This is because the sensor drivers for my model laptop (Dell Inspiron 7000 2-in-1 (7348)) are part of the Dell "Intel Chipset Driver" package. There's absolutely no mention of this on the downloads page, which obviously isn't very helpful:
www.dell.com/.../DriversDetails
Once I installed this package, all of the controls for screen rotation reappeared, but they were still grayed out.
Turns out the controls for screen rotation now gray out when you have the laptop open in the "normal" position, that being with the keyboard on your work surface and the screen tilted back as you would normally use any other laptop. Once you either place the laptop on tent orientation or with the keyboard completely folded back, those controls "un-gray" themselves and can then be changed. To the best of my knowledge, this was not the case in Windows 8.1, and it's an easy trap to fall into.
Live and learn I guess, but this isn't an obvious issue that's easily understood, or at least it wasn't to me. Hopefully this helps someone out.

The Windows upgrade media requires a previous version of windows to be present on the hard drive and activated in order for the installation to proceed Meaning if you need to reinstall win you would first have to reinstall and activate your old os Slightly different topic but totally related If you installed the Vista Upgrade the way Microsoft intended without using the quot special workaround quot the license key for your previous os would become invalid to prevent you from running more than one copy of windows with an upgrade license The Windows Upgrade requires an activated os to be present on the hard drive so Vista s workaround can t be used with win Assuming the win upgrade also invalidates your previous license wouldn Windows 7 Fail? Upgrade = t that mean it s impossible to reinstall win because you can t activate your old os I ve been wanting to ask about this for a long time but I kept putting it off so sorry if this has been answered before nbsp

Try one of two things :

1) IN either the "run" window or "start search" off the Start Menu type in %temp% then press Enter. This will open the Temporary Files folder. Delete all the files present here. Some may fail to delete as an open process is using them. This is normal and fine. Reboot. Retry the update

2) Run "msconfig" in the same manor you ran the other command. Goto the startup tab and click "Disable All", click OK and reboot. Try the update. Once it completes, assuming it does, re-run that command, back to the startup tab and click "Enable All" and reboot.

Hey all So I hear W is pretty popular now or something I've been attempting to upgrade my Vista install to recently but have come across a strange issue Im currently running x Vista Ultimate and am trying to upgrade to x W ultimate however whenever I select the x package on the disk I have I'm greeted with this error message Uploaded with ImageShack W7 upgrade -> Vista fail? us Weird no It seems to be contradicting itself So I tried launching the bit package and installing that in case I was wrong Vista -> W7 upgrade fail? and was actually running x all these years and was greeted with Uploaded with ImageShack us So great I can't install x because apparently I'm running x and I can't install x because I'm already running x Good job windows I've tried W ultimate discs and it's happened with both in exactly the same way so I suspect the problem lies deep within my Vista installation Has anyone come across an error like this before Or have any suggestions on my next course of action Other than a tear down and fresh install over the top I can't see a way out and it's taken me so long to get my media library's set up and annexed just right I really CBA to be fiddling about again Thanks all

Hello The Editor, welcome to Seven Forums!

"select the x64 package"

I'm curious about this statement above, where did you get the installation DVD(s) from, the 32-bit and the 64-bit should be separate DVDs please clarify.

I've switched out the factory installed single channel 8GB of DDR3L 1600 with dual channel 2 x 8GB DDR3L 1866 kit from Kingston.
In CPUZ the memory is reporting frequency and timings as the frequency and timings on the memory label. 932 11 11 11
However, in the BIOS, the memory frequency is reported at 0 MHz. Will this error in the BIOS be corrected in future BIOS updates?
My Inspiron 7559 has a Skylake I7 6700HQ cpu with the HM170 Express chipset which support DDR3L 1600 and DDR3L 1866 memory.  I would think the BIOS would be able to read the speed of the memory installed.
If a Dell representative reads this post do you think the issue of the BIOS not recognizing the speed of the memory installed will be corrected in a future BIOS update
Thank you,

A:DDR3L 1866 upgrade from DDR3L 1600 on I15 7000 7559

Dell does not officially support DDR3L 1866 in the Inspiron 7559... but I knew the chip-set and CPU did...
When I worked for Dell (Many years ago) I would always find that just because we didn't support something didn't mean it would not work.  But often it would not work right: just like the BIOS not seeing it correctly.
Thanks for letting me know that this config will work in my Inspiron 7559.

If you manually changed your boot order to boot from the CD/DVD first, you have to switch it back to the hard drive on the first reboot. You only want to boot from the CD/DVD once to start the install.

Go to your E-mail from Microsoft again, the one titled: Thanks for ordering Windows 8 (order # xxxxxxxxxx).

Click on the word here in this paragraph:

This is your receipt - make sure to print or save a copy for your records.
If you need to download Windows, write down your new product key and enter it here.

That will open the download window as follows:

Make sure you you follow to path to create media for installation at a later date, either DVD or a flash drive so you'll never have to do this again.

That same E-mail has a line near the bottom like this:

To always have the software as physical backup media at hand, order your personal backup DVD now. If your download link is so bad, perhaps that is a better way to get it.

Hi
I upgraded from vista to win7 and it finished the install perfectly but when it restarted to do the settings it said it couldn't and it was going to rollback all changes but instead it just kept rebooting in a loop.. So now I've got all the backup files named "backup files 1.zip" to "backup files 571.zip" which contain all the data from the vista install in 200mb files and i cant unzip 1 and they all get unzipped and any file bigger than 200mb is shared over a few zips and can't be put back together because it just overwrites the previous 1...

A:Vista to Win7 upgrade fail

What OS does it boot-up with now?

I am unfamiliar at this time with an upgrade producing 571 zip files.

If I do a ifconfig, I see that LAN has its media disconnected. But not wireless.

A:Wireless Ethernet Fail after Win 8 Pro Upgrade

can we see the ipconfig /all - see below

you could try a tcp/ip reset - see below

------------------------------------------------------------------------

TCP/IP stack repair options for use with Vista/Windows 7

Start> Programs> Accessories> and right click on Command Prompt, select "Run as Administrator" to open a command prompt box
(A new dialogue box - black with white font, will appear on the screen ):

In the command prompt window that opens, type the following commands:

Note: Type only the text in bold and red for the following commands.

Reset WINSOCK entries to installation defaults: netsh winsock reset catalog and press enter

Reset IPv4 TCP/IP stack to installation defaults. netsh int ipv4 reset reset.log and press enter

Reset IPv6 TCP/IP stack to installation defaults. netsh int ipv6 reset reset.log and press enter

ReStart (reboot) the machine.

If you receive the message
The requested operation requires elevation.
Then please open the command prompt as administrator - as requested above
Start> Programs> Accessories> and right click on Command Prompt, select "Run as Administrator" to open a command prompt box
(A new dialogue box - black with white font, will appear on screen ):

Please note and post back - if you receive the following message :-
Access is Denied

please post back the results in a reply here - its important we know that these commands have worked correctly and not produced any errors
right click in the command prompt box
select all
enter
control key + C key - to copy
then reply here and
control key + V to paste

Details also here
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/299357
------------------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------------------------------
ipconfig /all
If you cannot access the internet with this PC, then you will need to paste the results into something like notepad and then copy onto a machine that can access the internet and post the results in a reply here.
Save the file to a USB flash drive or other removable media. Plug it into the working computer with internet access and copy the file and paste here.

We would like to see the results from an ipconfig /all - post back the results in a reply here.

This should also work for windows 8
Hold the Windows key and press R, then type CMD then press Enter to open a command prompt box
(A new dialogue box - black with white font, will appear on screen ):

In the command prompt window that opens, type the following command:

Note that there is a space before the /ALL, but there is NOT a space after the / in the following command.

ipconfig /all > network.txt & network.txt

It will export the results into notepad and then automatically open the notepad and display on your screen.

Now all you need to do is copy and paste those results into a reply here
to do that:
From the notepad menu - choose Edit - Select all
all the text will now be highlighted
Next
From the notepad menu - choose Edit - Copy

Now go back to the forum - goto the reply and then right click in the reply box and paste the results.
The results from the notepad should now appear in the forum reply.

I'm trying to apply SP2 to my sister's XP desktop system - that had been loaded with spyware and viruses that I removed with spybot and avg - but as soon as the CD content extraction completes, I get a fatal stop - saying File Not found. I chose to try the SP2 disk because the regular Microsoft site Windows Update failed as well (didn't even do the system scan - just said can't do it). Is there some way around this mess without reloading the operating system ? (Of course, she can't find her WinXP CD!).

I've been trying to upgrade to Windows 10 for a while now, but I keep getting the error code 8004100E. Windows update seems to think it is downloading fine, but when it restarts in order to configure the windows 10 update, it just boots windows 7 as normal.

I've tried deleting everything in the softwaredistribution downloads folder, but that doesn't seem to help.
I've also tried using the windows 10 media creation tool to download it and create an iso, but this also fails.

I've noticed that when windows update thinks that the upgrade has downloaded and ready to be installed that there is only about 450mb in the downloads folder of C:windows/softwaredistribution where I figure it should be closer to 3GB.

Thanks in advance for the help!

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/win...0/default.aspx

IF it still fails to install you may need to run the microsoft windows installer cleanup utility.
http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;290301
Run it and only cleanup the WMP installer files.

A:M900 Tiny - Recovery fail after SSD upgrade

After spend more than 50 Man-Hours on this issue, now I finally solved it out. Here is the way I made it: Go get a copy of Acronis True Image 2016, I was using the edition 19.0.6571, use the disk edition to boot the machine, then select the original disk as source disk, use the newly added SSD as destination disk. Click process, then mess around for a while till it shows up "finish". Remove the external disk drive, the original HDD, leave the SSD inside. Start up, and everything you need is there. And, for unknown reason, once you finish all above, then press F11 during system boot, the R&R works perfect. PS.I didn't try the R&R disk at this moment, probably it still won't works. Anyway, thanks to the amazing Acronis True Image, now the issue has been solved. Cheers!

A:Windows 8.1 to 10 upgrade fail; No boot; avgidsha.sys

Hey...  I was able to access the drive when connected via the USB hard drive cradle on the latest version of Ubuntu.  The older version of Ubuntu only showed the drive but gave me no options to access it.

It appears that the drive might be failing.  I was able to copy the data I wanted.  I was also able to modify the avg system files as directed in the AVG support link provided in my previous post.  However, the system will still not boot.  Now it gets me back to essentially the same place as before but now it balks at file avgboot.sys or something like that.  However, this file was renamed in the earlier step, so I'm not sure what is going on there.

Anyway, I got my data and suspect the drive is failing, so I'm just going to replace the drive and install Windows 10 fresh.

When I tried upgrading from windows 7 to 10 on my Inspiron N5050 the screen had the windows 10 logo and spinning dots below it before going black. I had to hard restart my laptop. I contacted dell support  who said windows 10 was not compatable with my computer. They said I needed to restore my OS back to windows 7. When I start my computer I  can enter the bootup menu briefly before it automatically goes the windows 10 logo with the spinning dots. It stays like this for about a minute before going to the black screen. Any help with restoring to windows 7 from this point?

A:Vista upgrade fail trying to not delete contents of hard drive!

I've had a problem with the recent Oct 15th Security updates, causing my Dell to hardware reset & reboot after screen goes blank, on 3rd stage of configuring updates. It is the IE8 Cumulative security patch responsible on my machine, tried updating video driver to latest etc.

The (temporary) Solution for me was to boot with the Dell Vista DVD, and use System Restore to rollback to the last checkpoint before the update, found in the System Repair options.

I bought a cheap Acer Aspire computer from Wally World that has Windows on it I had to have something for internet access while I was rebuilding an XP box I figured that I'd do the free Windows upgrade on the Acer upgrade win8.1 win10 fail updates, completing insists which on once I had everything working on the XP box I have tried different ways of doing the Win upgrade and all spend HOURS downloading Win and then insist on checking for Win updates and installing them before upgrading to Win again win10 upgrade insists on completing win8.1 updates, which fail taking HOURS in the process In all cases many hours are spent downloading all the updates and then the updates start installing The progress bar gets to then a restart occurs Then I'm told that the updates are being worked on and the progress bar gets to every time Then I'm told that the updates have failed and many hours are spent putting everything back the way it was I ran sfc scannow which failed to repair dozen files My only saving grace is that I bought a spare G hard drive and used MacriumReflect to clone the original drive from Wally World over on to it so that at any time I can repeat that process to get my original drive back onto the cloned over drive Obviously I don't actually touch anything on the original drive except having put Avast AV on it win10 upgrade insists on completing win8.1 updates, which fail plus Firefox and MacriumReflect and using the McAfee uninstaller which I did before the first cloning I need to do an upgrade because the UEFI contents on this drive are uniquely matched to the mother board I don't think that a scratch win10 upgrade insists on completing win8.1 updates, which fail install of WIN will have all the drivers proprietary files etc that this motherboard is going to look for By the way while I'm trying to do all this the only things connected to the computer are a cable connection to the router a monitor a USB mouse and a USB keyboard I also turn off file and network protection in Avast indefinately since it's taking so many hours for all the shenanigans that Windows insists on doing Does anyone have any suggestions on how to install the Win updates I could take the time to install them one at a time but I can't find an inclusive list that tells what order to do them in A lot of them are security updates for Windows and the various NET frameworks from to Thanks

A:win10 upgrade insists on completing win8.1 updates, which fail

Personally, because you have a backup drive, I would clean install Windows 10 to the new drive. You can download the Windows 10 Media Creation Tool . You can pull the key with produkey and use it during the Windows 10 install.

You most likely will not need many drivers after the install. If you do then check your Aspire's website for Windows 10 specific drivers.

What is the model number of the Aspire?

I am experiencing very frequent IE8 crashes. It's been happening for a while, just more frequent lately since I've been using (or trying to use) IE8 a lot more. At least once a day (Usually several times a day) while on a website, I will click a link, and IE8 will stop responding. I have to bring up taskmgr and start closing processes until IE8 either closes completely or recovers the tab(s). It does not always work either, before I had several tabs open, and when one crashed, I lost every tab except for the one I was using when the lockup occurred. Is this because I'm using the "older" version of IE8? Have problems like this been fixed?

IE7 is so much more stable for me, I never have problems with it.

Does RC1x64 have a better IE8 included with it?

A:Build 7000 and IE8.0.7000.0

LOL! IE8 from build 7000 sucked ass. Most unstable **** ever, i cant even imagine they released something like that as "beta" (should be called prealpha or something). In all other builds after 7000 IE is fine so dont worry :P

hello,

We recently upgraded our servers from Exchange 2007 to Exchange 2010. One of major issues is the syncing of mail on our Droid phones. Many of use the Touchdown email client. The older Touchdown clients failed and once upgraded to the latest version, it works fine. However the native email client on android OS is not working at all. I have tried unchecking "use a secured connection" and unchecking "verify certificates" Also since we carry many different models of Droids, different OS's don't seem to make a difference either.

Anyone on exchange 2010 ever encounter any issues with Android.

A:Exchange 2010 Upgrade Caused Native Droid Email Client To Fail

I had some issues when we switched over. I was just using the native andriod client as opposed to Touchdown. I would check some of the android forums and just search for outlook. there were several threads on those boards and something i found there ended up correcting my issue. sorry don't have my droid anymore and can't recall the settings.

Anyway one found anything new already? I notice couple of things is still not fixed and some are. But also found new bug that it wasnt here in any previous build.

I have set displays to turn off after 15min. However when i come back and try to wake them up sometimes randomly picture freeze. I get initial desktop, then everyting freezes for about 15-20sec (and YES i have disk sleeping off) and at that time i usualy start to press ctrl+alt+del and it wakes up eventualy after like i wrote 15-20sec. But this thing is compleatly random, sometimes it happens sometimes it doesnt. Need to try with only one monitor to hopefuly isolate the problem.

I love it!

Somethings that really makes me happy is that the drivers for my wireless adapter were already built into the OS so Windows loaded up with the internet right away!

It also feels much more responsive and stable than all previous builds.

All I have to say is well done Microsoft!

A:My first impression of 7068

I keep on saying this, but mannn is this my favorite build. Like, I'm honestly beginning to feel some of that RC polish here. And I didn't even do a clean install, I simply upgraded, yet the speed gains were immediately apparent. It also fixed some slowness I had with my "all programs" on the start bar sometimes taking forever + 1.2 seconds to load. So far, everything is perfect. They darkened the logon screen during the install, but haven't done it yet for the actual OS yet apparently, so I expect that in the following builds. Graphics performance seems to have notably improved. I assume they are starting to remove some of the diagnostics codes from previous builds, because man, I'm loving this speed.

Hey I recently upgraded my win 7 from build 7000 to 7068 and now I am having a lot of problems oh and its 32 bit version

1. in the start menu when I click programs nothing displays however I can confirm that the folder is there in C drive and that programs work when I go through it

2. ATI catalyst CCC doesn't want to install..when I click setup it tells me that the installation stopped working

3. I have no internet connection now even though the adapter is detected (however I think it's a firewall issue)
If any one can guide me to the solutions to the problems, It will be greatly appreciated. And I wanted to ask if nothing works is there a way to revert back to build 7000 and if so should I do it ?

thanks

No one has mentioned the change in IE with the new task bar in build 7068. I personally like it. That i can click on the ie icon on the left and get a new IE window where as before i had to right click and select open IE.

Any other new things found in this new build? I am looking more for new things such as that vs a bug report.

A:Windows 7 7068 - Task Bar

I can't figure out what you're describing. The taskbar has always had IE there. If you left click it it opens. Right click and it brings up the "jump menu" where you have been before or pinned to the jump menu. I don't think it's changed. Am I missing something?

Hi,
I'm guessing that maybe you didnt get a 25-digit Key code for Win7?
If you used a previous build such as build 7000, then just use the same key code that you obtained from the microsoft website and use it for you new build.
If you havent activated your copy of windows, then right click on 'Computer', selecting properties and at the bottom of the page, click activate windows.

Hope i'm helping!
Sorry i can't suggest anything on your WMP problem

A:HDD crash after installing 7068

The HD might be dead - The easiest way would be to get a USB to Sata/IDE cable and test the drive on another machine via USB, the second easiest would be to get a 3.5 or 2.5 (depending upon size) external case and use USB to test the drive.

It may be that your HD has simply died....

I've not noticed but i'll keep an eye (well ear) on it. I would presume that as Se7en doesn't use as many resources in the background it only switches when it's required (mainly for CPU intensive activity).

Well bugger me, first I downloaded ver x86 then based on discussions here x64 of build 7068. Well NEITHER of them will install.

Not from a clean install or from an upgrade from a prior version.

So I'm back to installing 7000 followed by system upgrade to 7057 which is at least working reasonably well.

Not the end of the world but still annoying. The install starts well, gets through he initial expanding of files, reboots, does all the other stuff.

Just as it is about to finalise, the screen dumps to black, I get a cursor flash top left for an instant, the screen splats then nothing. Just sits there in black.

I'm thinking I might upgrade to 4gig of ram. I also think the nVidia GTX 9800+ is a piece of crap and may be the issue, just not sure.

I'd like to move to x64. Guess I'll have to wait for the next major release and pray it works.

A:Build 7068 won't Install

Where was it getting to in the install? and why are you installing build 7000 to install build 7057 over it?

Okay - so I've Googled and I've read the steps and well to Upgrading from 7100? 7068 To be frank I'm not entirely computer savvy and I may have some Upgrading from 7068 to 7100? issues with the upgrade But before I even go there there's something that's troubling me more than even that Most of the step-by-step guides I've found including the original one that Microsoft released mention an expiration warning and bi-hourly shutdowns of your computer starting sometime between July and the beginning of August and I've got race to upgrade before August starts Right I haven't gotten any warnings Does this mean I don't need to upgrade - and magically stuck in this beta build This all started when I wanted Windows for my new laptop and it was my friend who put it all together I got this laptop about four months ago and just moved so I haven't been bothering him about it He assured me that it could update on its own but that always made me nervous so I've been Googling here and there watching Windows 's progress And here I am So do I upgrade And if I do I may need a volunteer to make sure I don't blow up my computer Here are some of my diagnostics Windows Ultimate -bit build HP Pavilion dv - Special Edition laptop the pretty green amp white one Need more just let me know Thank you for any assistance So far this has been the only forum I could find that would offer help for this build and mentioned things about upgrades already I'm crossing my fingers

A:Upgrading from 7068 to 7100?

Build 7068 wasn't a beta build, it was considered a pre-release candidate so it will expire June of 2010. So you have about a year to get the final version

This is exactly the same error I got with 7048.

Clean install 7068 from Daemon Tools.

From Win + E:

From Explorer on Taskbar:

From the .exe:

Works fine from the Start Orb :

The only software installed is Avast, Vista Firewall Control,
Faststone Capture 53, Poweriso , FF 3.08 and Windows Live Mail.

Any ideas anyone?

A:Explorer error on 7068.

hmm...
for me win+E opens up "My Computer"
so wait this is a clean install from deamon tools?
the only thing i can think of is file corruption or a changed association for the exe file ...

welcome, i trying upgrade from build 7068 to build 7100 rc1, But not able to upgrade, giving me ERROR, what can i doing ?

A:Probelm with build 7068

Hello R20,

You can only upgrade from the 7077 build to the 7100 build according to Microsoft. Looks like you will need to do a clean install instead.

Sorry,
Shawn

For some reason 7068 won't let me set my screen resolution above 1600 x 1200. It's not necessarily a deal breaker but is rather annoying as I'm quite fond of my 1920 x 1200. Anyone else have this issue or have an idea of how to fix it?

From everything I have read, 7068 is nothing special. I am 20 minutes from having the .iso so.........I can't help myself. Are we sick? 7057 has worked great! I have no reason to switch but 5 minutes after getting the .iso....I'm doing it.

Is there anything of note in 7068 that is better than 7057 besides fixing the desktop .ini issue? The other stuff is "better compatibility with gadgets"...I don't care about that. I want some meat.....those pipes will be clogged when the RC comes out.

From my opinion and with all the problems I've had with the builds 7048 and 7057, yes it's worth trying the build 7068. Feels like using the build 7000. It's as stable, fast, with more features and less bugs. Sticking to this build (7068 x64) until the official RC here.

If you're not really sure, you can always clone your install and try an upgrade, so if you're not happy with it you can still revert to whatever build you're using.

Hello

After upgrading Seven to Build 7068, I reinstalled Comodo Internet Security which works perfectly on Build 7057.

So I reinstalled the software, with Vista compatibility mode etc.., and restarted my computer.

Since, the Windows Action Center does no recognize Firewall and Defense+ protection, and Windows says Comodo Antivirus status is in a format no longer supported by Seven. I had no this problem on Build 7057.

No wanting to deactivate the Action Center for the Security, and to change of security software (Comodo satisfies me), does exist an solution to make cohabit Windows and Comodo please?

Thanks

A:Comodo and Windows 7 Build 7068

Just turn off the firewall nagging of Action Center. It doesn't matter if it recognizes Comodo as a firewall or not, Comodo will still work just fine. You know it's there so you don't need the system to tell you that.

Hey guys I've been using x since it became available and have had no issues with it besides ATi's CCC not working properly but no big deal Anyway I have X quot Tek Visions ELO touchscreen monitors that I'd really like to try Se en's touch capability on Here's the deal I've had all three of these monitors working properly with WinXP Pro for the last years at my restaurant as part of my Point 7068 x64 and Touch capability PROBLEM 7 Win Of Sale system I have all the old Win 7 7068 x64 and Touch capability PROBLEM drivers and have downloaded all kinds of Vista x drivers as well of the monitors are serial COM port and is USB I had to send one back for repair and they just sent me a newer model I haven't tried either of the serial touchscreen monitors since my motherboard has no COM ports in it I do have a couple in a drawer but I'd rather use the USB monitor anyway So here's what's been done and hasn't worked so far Reading that Windows has or is going to have quot Touch Capabilities quot and reading up on the ELO drivers for these monitors they all pretty much say that if you're using an USB touchscreen that Windows Vista will automagically recognize the monitor as a touchscreen and it will 'just work' So I tried to just plug it in by itself first - Win installed some HID drivers behind the scenes I really should run ProcMon to see just wtF is going on when these things happen - but it still did nothing although it did extend the desktop to the new monitor Then I downloaded the newest x Vista drivers directly from ELO and installed rebooting in between plugged it in like the instructions say and still nothing - even though it still is recognized as a monitor - Win automatically has extended the desktop to it just no touchscreen capability I've uninstalled and reinstalled and did all kinds of reboots in between each change and still have no touch capability So does anyone here have any experience getting this to work Has anyone here actually tried to utilize a touchscreen with Win Any good information will be greatly appreciated and repped Thanks in advance Psychlone

A:Win 7 7068 x64 and Touch capability PROBLEM

I could be way wrong here, but I haven't heard of any of the beta builds integrating the full win7 touch yet.
So I'm not so sure that the these beta builds, including 7068, have win7 touch yet.
But like I said, I could be wrong.

Hello Everyone:
I installed win7_x64 7068 in dual boot as the second operating system to Vista 64. It runs sweet, found some obscure drivers (like USB to serial),works with office, my AV and even does a good job with Fallout3.
It wound shut down though, it hangs at "shutting down" and the cursor just spins there, until I pull the plug, it boots back without any complaint, so I'm figuring it's a situation, and not a flaw.
Any ideas?

After a long struggle with my DIgital Cable PID, which I've since solved, I was very excited to upgrade my main HTPC to the latest Win 7 Beta. I was planning to do this with 7068. However, in the mean time 7077 came out. Problem is, 7077 breaks Arcsoft's Total Media Theater - which makes it a deal breaker. Cyberlink is not an option, as we have a fair amount of HD-DVD's. I have no problem rebuilding a 7068 installation (which amounts to re-cloning my working Vista installation, and then upgrading it from there so I can keep my HD content), but I'm wondering if I'll miss anything.

I know that all the hardware I have on this system has been supported since 7000, so I'm really concerned about performance bugs - especially Media Center bugs.

Thanks!

Although I found some issues that are almost similar, nothing seems to really solves the issue I have.

Build 7068, x64 freezes after a resume from sleep (S3). The desktop image is visible but the system totally hangs. Only a hard power down works.
I use two USB devices (keyboard and remote) and both can resume the system from sleep. Strangly the system did work for the first day and now even a clean install fails on resume...?

Vista x86, had no issues at all, rock solid operation for almost a year.

System config:
Gigabyte EP45ds4 (BIOS P9), E8400, ATI HD2600pro (this card only works with driver 8.12 in Vista SP2 compatibility mode to enable svideo output), HVR2200.
