Hi there, I am having problems trying to make a clean install of Windows 7 on my HP DV6000. I have rpeviously formatted and installed operating systems on many computers, but this one is giving me to fight!
The main problem is that the instalation never continues from the "Windows is loading files" at the start of the CD booting!
Does HP or this pavilon have any issues?
help will be appreciated!
I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.
I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.
You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)
Make your HP REcovery Disks or a backup image so you have a path back to factory condition. You can also extract apps from the HP REcovery disks using this method: http://www.sevenforums.com/installat...tml#post488270
Next make sure you have the latest BIOS version update from HP Support Downloads webpage for your model, which is safest installed from Windows.
CHeck also in the BIOS for SATA controller setting: try AHCI first, then IDE if necessary.
Now wipe the HD to get the cleanest possible slate: SSD / HDD : Optimize for Windows Reinstallation
Clean Install Windows 7
If install fails again, remove all but 2gb of RAM and test your ram with memtest for 5-6 passes. http://www.memtest86.com/download.html
Then test your HD using maker's full diag/repair CD scan: http://www.tacktech.com/display.cfm?ttid=287
Where did you get Win7? DId you burn it yourself?
I have an HP Pavilion DV6000 (more exactly DV6736NR) laptop here and I cannot find drivers for the video or the "base system device". I have drivers downloaded for Vista (which everyone says works in Windows 7); but, when I try to install them, the process aborts with a message that the best driver for the devices are already installed.
Problems are "base system device" has an exclamation point with it so it isn't working properly and the display adapter is listed as "standard VGA graphics adapter", which gives me no resolutions that appropriate for wide screen..
do you have the 64 or 32bit windows installed
some info here
Have HP pavilon...was Vista...installed Windows 7 upgrade...can I put Windows XX home edition to redtore? I am frustrated...cannot get online witeless or with ethernet?

Hi @guru99! I'm sorry to say that, but this error may indicate that your HDD is failing and needs to be replaced. If your notebook is still in warranty you can contact the support, but in case you're out of warranty and would like a guide on replacing the hard drive yourself I would be able to recommend you some replacement. Hope this helps and best of luck!

Baselo Hello;Allow me to welcome you to the HP forums! What will work is restoring your machine to its original factory condition using HP Recovery Media. This is a set of DVDs and a CD, or USB stick, that will erase the hard drive (removing all data, settings, and applications, reinstall the original OS, drivers, and some HP Utilities. In some cases, you may be able to order a USB stick instead of disks. You have to order these from HP; they can not be downloaded. You can look online for Recovery Media starting with the linked paged: http://support.hp.com/us-en/driversOnce there, input your Product name or number. On your Software and Drivers Download page, select your Operating System and and Version. Click "Update". If HP Recovery Media is available for your machine, down near the bottom of the page, you will see an entry for Order Recovery Media-CD/DVD/USB. Click the "+" symbol to expand that entry and click on Order Media for details.Or, if you prefer, you can do the same by contacting HP Customer Service:If you live in the US or Canada, contact information is on this page: http://www8.hp.com/us/en/contact-hp/phone-assist.html#section1If you live elsewhere, contact information is on this page: http://www8.hp.com/us/en/contact-hp/ww-contact-us.htmlNOTE: After you get through, stay on the line until you are finally able to talk to some one -- it can take a while!---------------------------------------However, HP Customer Support is generally not available on the weekends, so you might have to wait until Monday to contact them.---------------------------------------If HP no longer provides Recovery Media for your model, a couple of other sites you can check are: http://www.computersurgeons.com/ and http://www.restoredisks.com/Good Luckhttp://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Operating-System-and-Recovery/pavilon-dm4-recovery/td-p/5733414
i have a Pavilion and when watching videos or listening to music the volume will go away or turn way down but the actual volume settings do not change just the volume its self. I have tried reinstalling the drivers and ran all the test. I have also shut off my mic and told it to do nothing in the auto volume settings yet it still randomly decides to turn its self down. I have spend hours with tech support doing the same things over and over and even rebooted my entire system. I have only had this HP for a month. never had a problem in 7 years with my old hp and this one is about to go in the trash.http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Audio/sound-issues-pavilon/td-p/5850816

Hello - I would be extremely grateful if someone coudl hep me, please!! I haven't used this particular laptop for years, but I desperately need to get back on it to retrieve some files. The laptop seems to work fine, but when I've turned it on a black screen appears with Enter Password in blue - it doesn't look like the normal Windows page that I can remember. It looks as though it's in some sort of safe mode or something. I don't know what this password is. If I enter it incorrectly too many times it says System Disabled Can anyone please advise? Thanks so much

Help! I have an HP Pavilion a520n that was handed down to me from my brother-in-law. Being free I couldn't pass it up but there are a few issues I hope you can help me with.
The card-reader does not work, neither does the 3.5' floppy drive. I put the memory card from my digital camera in the reader but the drive is not recognized when I click on My Computer.
Drive "A" does show in My Computer but when putting in a disk and clicking on the icon the drive light does not turn on and the window pops up stating to insert a disk in drive A:
I am running Window's XP Pro 2002 with Service Pack 2. I downloaded the driver off HP's website but trying to install it I get the message that the card reader is not installed.
Computer screen will not turn on. Black screen and caps lock blinks. What do I do
Hi @kenneyjosh ,Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome. It is a great site for information and questions. I have looked into your issue about your HP Pavilon 11x360 11-n010dx Notebook and issues with the Screen turning on. Here is a link to computer screen remains blank. Please note remove any and all USB devices. Disconnect all non-essential devices, as these could cause some issues. Please let me know how this goes. Thanks.

hi all i write this post becouse i realy suprised yesterday... My pavilon 15-ab291sa is 3months new and when i start use Ashampoo Movie Studio Pro 2 to create and build my movies my laptop stop working... Graphic card is realy low, and i thinking to add one more and that is the qyeston, can i add 1 more good graphic card to my laptop ???
robcioslaw Sorry to say this, but you're operating under a misunderstanding, as laptops to do not have customer-replaceable graphics "cards". Instead, they have a graphics processor (GPU) that is soldered to the system board which also contain the CPU chip. While these are sometimes replaceable, that involves sending the PC to an HP Service Center and paying a LOT of money to have it disassembled, have the system board replaced, and have it reassembled -- typically considerably more money than simply buying a more powerful laptop. So basically, it is not practical to upgrade the graphics on a laptop. NOTE: Please provide the following information for a more detailed response: http://www.techsupportforum.com/foru...ta-452654.html
While waiting for a reply:
I suggest starting all troubleshooting with the following diagnostic tests (located at this link: Hardware Diagnostics ). They'll save you a lot of time and heartache if there is a hardware failure, and you'll have the disks on hand in case you need them in the future:
Please start by running these bootable hardware diagnostics:
Memory Diagnostics (read the details at the link)
Hard Drive Diagnostics (read the details at the link) - Test ALL of the hard drives.
Also, please run one of these free, independent online malware scans to ensure that your current protection hasn't been compromised: Free Online AntiMalware Resources (read the details at the link)
There are also free, bootable antivirus disks at this link: Free Online AntiMalware Resources - Bootable Disks
The BSOD is a STOP 0x124.
This is most likely a hardware error - which includes:
- compatibility issues
- low-level driver problems
Daemon Tools (and Alcohol % software) are known to cause BSOD's on Win7 systems due to the sptd.sys driver.
Please uninstall the program, then use the following free tool to ensure that the troublesome sptd.sys driver is removed from your system (pick the 32 or 64 bit system depending on your system's configuration): DuplexSecure - FAQ
I believe that you have Comodo installed on your system. Try uninstalling it to see if that helps.
AMD OverDrive (AODDriver2.sys) is either a stand-alone application, or a component of the AMD VISION Engine Control Center. This driver is known to cause BSOD's on some Win7 systems.
Please uninstall all ATI stuff from Control Panel...Programs...Uninstall a program
Then, download and install a fresh copy of the ATI drivers from Global Provider of Innovative Graphics, Processors and Media Solutions | AMD
Then use the ATI uninstall manager to uninstall the Catalyst Control Center (CCC).
If the device (AODDriver or AODDriver4.01) remains a problem in perfmon /report, open Device Manager, select the "View" item.
Then select "Show hidden devices" and scroll down to the Non-Plug and Play Drivers section.
Locate the AODDriver entry, right click on it and select "Uninstall". Reboot for changes to take affect.
If overclocking, please stop. Remove the overclock and return the system to stock/standard values while we're troubleshooting. Once the system is stable again, feel free to resume the overclocking.
Further info on BSOD error messages available at: http://www.carrona.org/bsodindx.html
The following info is just FYI, I've already addressed the issues that I saw in the above paragraphs:
3RD PARTY DRIVERS PRESENT IN THE DUMP FILES
- Create a System Restore Point prior to doing any of this. DO NOT mess with the drivers themselves - leave the Windows\System32\drivers directory alone unless we specifically direct you to it!
- Please either update the older drivers from the device manufacturer's website - or uninstall them from your system. Reference links are included below.
- DO NOT use Windows Update or the Update Drivers function of Device Manager.
- Please feel free to post back about any drivers that you are having difficulty locating.
- Windows Update exceptions may be noted below for Windows drivers.

I kept getting a blue screen with an error code 0xc0000185. I ordered the recovery Disks from HP but when I went to recover the machine, it sort of reads the cd and then I get the HP logo and the circle just spins and spins. We left it alone for hours and nothing. I ran a Hard Drive Test and it said Hard Drive Short DST Check: FAILEDthen gave this Failure ID: 63621R-7AQ87K-MFPV6K-60XL03Product K7U05UA HARD DRIVE 1 SYSTEM EXTENSIVE TEST: FAILED Any idea what I can do? It is just out of warranty- Of Course.
Hi, The 24 character error id does confirm a failure of the short Disk Self Test and would indicate that the Hard Drive is failing and needs to be replaced. This is also consistent with the issues you describe. If you would like a guide on replacing the Hard Drive yourself, please let me know. Regards, DP-Khttp://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Hardware-and-Upgrade-Questions/Pavilon-Failed-Hard-Drive-Short-DST-Check/td-p/5745096

I have HP Dv6000 and I would like to upgrade the ram. Would anyone where I can purchase and what type of ram would I i need? thx
Hi stositoa The DV6000 series is a big series of notebooks, with lots and lots of specific models. You will need to find your specific model to identify the specific RAM you need. If you are not sure how to do this, check out How Do I Find My Model Number, Serial Number or Product Number? Once you have that, the big memory brands, like Kingston and Crucial have memory finders on their sites that will tell you what memory you need. You can find those sites with a quick Google search. hello guys i have this computer for about two years now.. and my battery somehow is not working??? is there a way i can test if it is dead or not?? thanck you
My dv6000 won't charge. I bought a new power chord and it still won't charge. The blue light in the side port lights up, but the light in the front won't light up to say that it is charging. Any Ideas?
I've got a dv6000 and it simply will not power on. Its almost like the on button is broken. I plug in the charger and the little blue ring lights up. I have reset the BIOS(by unplugging the battery) but it refuses to respond.
What should i do?
Try removing the battery and plugging in the power supply only, if that doesn't work remove the batter and unplug the power supply, press the power button then leave the computer over night. Plug it in the next day and see if it works.
Sounds like voodoo but I have tried this on a few laptops and it worked. If none of these tips work then the power supply is probably bad. Either get it tested or get a new one. Worst case scenario, if the new power supply doesn't work then the motherboard is faulty.

Well I use my laptop as a gaming device and for other stuff like homework and surfing the web fast and such. We have a desktop but are getting into laptops so we have more space in the rooms.
My current specs are:
Operating System: Windows Vista Home Premium (6.0, Build 6000)
System Manufacturer: HP
System Mode: HP Pavilion dv6000
Processor: AMD Turion(tm) 64 X2 Mobile Technology TL-56 (2CPUs), ~1.8GHz
I am wondering if it is possible to add a new processor in this laptop, what size does it need to be and such.
I am also wondering how much ram can the new processor hold if i can replace mines with around 2.33GHz- 2.8 GHz
Also what size is the hard drive of laptops and what is the max being made now?
Your laptop is not Pavilion dv6000. Dv6000 is a huge seriesof different models. See the sticker on the bootom for the exact model number.
Replacing a CPU in a laptop is tricky and expensive. Not worth the effort.
The processor has got nothing to do with maximum supported memory. Increasing the RAM size to 2GB or more will most certainly give you an instant speed boost, especially with Windows Vista. (Another option would be to leave the RAM at 1GB and use Windows XP )
I believe the largest standard-sized laptop hard drives are 320GB. Again, are you sure that you need to upgrade? You could just get an external USB hard drive for storage.
My bluetooth does not work with my HP dv6000 entertainment pc. has anyone else got HP laptops working bluetooth in windows 7??
when I click add new device nothing shows up...and it wont let me even click on the settings icon in the notification area. bluetooth is turned on and enabled in device manager...anyone know how to fix this?
Have you tried to install the bluetooth drivers from the HP site for your particular model? select the Vista ones if you have the option.
I have a DV9724TX and just loaded W7 X64, and it works fine but I had to reload the HP Bluetooth drivers for Vista X64 as HP is only going to support a little few laptops with 7
Hi guys is me again asking for your expertice one more time. I have the istallation disks that came with the laptop, do I need to buy the operating system again? please advice

Hi everyone im new here and I hope you can help me Ive got an HP DV Laptop with Nvidia GFX and a Turion CPU I'm running Windows retail build bit As im sure many people will be aware the DV DV series Laptops have a serious design flaw in the GFX chip which causes a variety of errors culminating in a black screen I can confirm that it is not this error as this board has suffered from this aliment and GFX Error DV6000 been replaced through HP with a board DV6000 GFX Error that is free from the design flaw This Laptop had installed Windows Vista Premium its run flawlessly on this OS but as I had a disk come my way I thought I would install The error is that when you transition between resolutions with the UAC and a few other programs the Laptop just stops for about seconds with a black screen I did initially think its the DV playing up again but I re-installed Vista and this issue is no more It has again now but with this issue I have absolutely no idea what this problem could be Ive tried different Nvidia GFX drivers I did have a co-processor item listed in the device manager as having no driver installed but that was rectified with an nvidia chipset driver If anyone has encountered this issue i would appreciate DV6000 GFX Error a response and thankyou for reading this Post Dex
Mmmm. 512MB of RAM jumps out as a potential problem right away.
Try changing your Personalize settings to a non-Aero theme like classic and turn off all the video enhancements. Does the issue go away?
Are you getting any messages when the screen goes to black? Like "the display driver x has stopped"?
I am trying to diagnose and possibly fix why a HP DV6000 Laptop is not powering on. It is 2 years old and has Windows Vista OS. You press the start button, you see all the blue lights come on (top pf keyboard) and 1 sec later it shuts down. No writing comes up on the screen. I have tried to do a hard reset with Battery and Power Chord disconnected. Tried with battery out and just power adapter plugged, but nothing works. My next step is to find a simliar HP Laptop and try a new Power Adapter and Battery. I hold out no hope for this machine after reading how many of these laptops have the same power failure. My guess is the motherboard has failed, but there could be some other reason. Any guesses or advice on what to try. Thanks.
My HP dv6000 laptop with Windows XP Media Center Edition won't access the internet any more. Not even if it's connected directly to the modem, or wired to the router, or wireless. I have a desktop and second laptop connect with no problem. The modem and router are both Linksys. When you mouseover the icons in the tray, the status is always Speed 100.0 Mbps and Status: Connected. I don't understand how two computers can connect to a wireless router and my HP Pavilion can't. I have unplugged the modem and router and restarted them both, but to no avail. Any help would be appreciated.
How is your network configured? What is the result of running ipconfig /all?

wanted to format but wont format going to black page showing maybe a device was remove
First you need to identify the make and model of the HDD, such as WD, Seagate etc., Log into the vendor site and download the proper HDD diagnose tool and follow the instructions to scan each segment of your broken HDD and hope you can fix from this tool too.http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/553799/hp-dv6000-window-7/

One of the commenter on the AMD link above stated this
The laptop has socket S1g1. This socket is not compatible with ZM-XX microprocessors. What is the document part number of that Hp service manual? It'd be interesting to see it.Click to expand...

I was thinking it was a HD problem, because a few weeks later, it kept spinning around the load bar, but it wouldnt start, and I had some recovery disks from hp. Do you think you could help?

I have an HP DV CTO laptop with an AMD processor It came preinstalled with Vista Vista does not suit my needs HP Laptop on an DV6000 XP because it sucks In any case I decided to wipe it and install XP When I tried to install XP the installation kept crashing at XP on an HP DV6000 Laptop various points in the install Sometimes it would crash right away other times it would get all the way to the point where it had copied the files and was beginning the actual installation And when it quot crashes quot what it does is it powers off the computer I did a little research and determined that the problem was likely that I had an SATA drive installed and XP didn t recognize it well enough to complete the install If I had the Intel version of this notebook there is apparenlty an option to disable SATA in the BIOS but on AMD machines there is no such option So I was advised to use quot F quot during the install of XP to install a third party driver I downloaded the XP driver for the SATA drive and tried to install However I quickly learned that when installing XP the only way to install a thrid party driver is with a floppy drive which the computer doesn t have Searching for a workaround I found several programs that claimed to be able to integrate my new chipset drivers with the XP install but none of them worked I still had the same problem - the XP installation would simply shut the computer down at various points in the install Could it really be impossible to install XP on this computer HP has drivers for XP on its website that I can download so the computer must have come with XP installed as an option I just can t figure out how to install it Anyone have any ideashttp://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/354623/xp-on-an-hp-dv6000-laptop/

Hey, I wonder one thing and that is whether it is possible and take the RAM chips from an hp dv6000 (1 gb) and put them into a Toshiba A60 EQUIUM?
HP DV6000 uses DDR2 PC5300.
Toshiba A60 uses DDR PC2700
So no, it won't work. The physical pin connections are slightly different.

Okay... So, I am doing this for a friend because he cannot access the internet. I have tried helping him along the way but its just hard and the face that i live 2 hours away dosen't help. So, anyways he recently formated to XP on his HP laptop, and his computer is not recognizing his ethernet controller, he is running service pack 1. He was on vista before, and obviously wanted to "downgrade". I went onto the website to download a ethernet driver and I downloaded the NVIDIA nForce Chipset Driver and Network Controller, he says when he opens it it shows the nvidia logo says its preparing files, then just closes. If anyone has ideas on how I can help him please tell me.
Let me make sure I understand. You downloaded from HP the proper chipset drivers and ethernet controller driver for his machine for XP? Did he install those chipset drivers before the ethernet?

Any one canhelp??
i need an all driver for these type...
i am already try many times to find these error ..
really dont know why...
i have 1 unknown device..(but i prfer somebody can give me all the completed driver for my notebook)
its show like this..hope anyone can help me thx u..
Yes this np you will be able to find your drivers for DV6000 on this page -
Select software and drivers HP Pavilion dv6000 CTO Notebook PC - HP Customer Care (United States - English)
You can also finder w7 video drivers on 1 of these 3 sites -
Ati - Graphics Drivers & Software
Nvidia - Drivers - Download NVIDIA Drivers
Anything Intel you can download here but i dont think they have any W7 drivers yet but the vista drivers work - Download Software, Drivers and Utilities
If you cant get a driver to install because of an OS mismatch error (wont install) do the following - match the OS the drivers are written for with the compatibility mode you choose eg vista with vista compatibility mode :
To install a driver OR program in compatibility mode - right click the setup.exe file - click properties - click compatibility - check run in compatibility with vista/xp etc - check run as administrator - leave the rest blank. Start setup.exe and install.
Hello!I am using a HP Pavilion dv6000 notebook, with a 32-bit Vista business, 2 processors of Genuine Intel with 1.73GHz each, and only 1GB of RAM. I would like to upgrade the RAM to 4GB, but I don't know if that's possible, and/or how to do that. I hope you guys can help me.Thanks.
We need to know the exact model number from the tag on the bottom of the laptop. You can then just check by model number with Crucial at crucial.com to check max memory specs. Some of the dv6000s max at 2 gigs as you likely already know. 2 gigs is dirt cheap and would be a major improvement. With 32 bit Vista even if you install 4 gigs only 3 will be available for Windows to use. So 2 gigs is your best bet anyway. The difference between 1 gig and 2 is huge, the difference between 2 and 3 is negligible, in my opinion.http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Hardware-and-Upgrade-Questions/How-to-upgrade-RAM-on-HP-Pavilion-dv6000/td-p/105828
I have had an HP Pavillion dv6000 for a few years, and suddenly, it will not power up at all. I can not determine that anything at all happens when I press the power button. What's weird is that when I connect the power, the AC LED (the one with the lightning bolt above it) lights, and stays lit for 30 seconds, and then turns off. During that time, and thereafter, the power light will not come on at all, and the computer will not power up. I have tried removing the battery and power cord and holding the power button for 45 seconds, multiple times, but nothing seems to work. I hope you can offer some advice on things to try. Thanks,Zach

Look at the sticker on the case and advise what the product number is so we can determine the exact model number of that HP Pavilion dv6000 laptop.
Is it the HP Pavilion dv6353us that's mentioned in your computer specifications?
If it is, here is the section on system recovery that you can browse through.
If you live in the United States or in Canada, here is the link where you can order the recovery DVD kit - if it's still available from HP.
If it's no longer available, you can order it from here.

Do you own a 'HP DV6000 Laptop'?
Does your model use Intel or AMD (specifically AMD)
Have you noticed a high pitched noise comming from the computer?
Does the Hard drive crackle?
The reason I am asking is that I want to know if it is just me, or whether it is HP.
P.S DV2000 & DV9000 do not count in this case.

Hello and welcome to TSF.
It sounds like your hard drive is failing to me, especially because of this:

The most vulnerable part of any PC is its hard drive; it's the only mechanical (moving) part in a computer. Operating system not found is a message displayed when the computer can't find an operating systems on any hard drives, also indicating that it may not be seeing your hard drive at all. Run the appropriate hard drive diagnostic tool from here: http://carrona.org/hddiag.html
If the hard drive does end up being the cause then you could replace it yourself for much cheaper than bringing it to a shop.

Actually in my experience, those two errors are not serious if this is the first time it booted since you did the upgrade. Date and Time have been reset so you just need to go in and enter it in again. The checksum is because some of the settings have changed with the upgrade, others have reverted to a default and they don't match with the last known good setting that was stored in memory (because it was from the old bios). Going in and making any changes that need to be made and then saving your settings usually gets you going. However if you boot it again and this error keeps coming up, then you may have a bad CMOS battery that isn't holding a charge or a pooched firmware upgrade.

I have been working on a friends computer a HP Pavilion DV for a couple weeks now and have no idea what is wrong with it The story I was informed of is that for about a year or so it was working more or less fine but recently the past couple months there had been some weird things the computer would do for a while then it increased over time so she gave up on it and gave it to me When I got it it booted perfectly fine Laptop Issue DV6000 HP I was even able to install some updates the computer is running Vista Home Premium When I shut it down for the night and booted it up the next day it did what she had described to me When you hit the power button all the lights on the keyboard will light up but the main screen is totally blank and after about seconds the HP DV6000 Laptop Issue power lights shut off and about seconds later it turns itself back on And it did that every time after that I thought the hard drive might be messed up but I had a spare around so that wasn t the problem So I took it apart since I had heard from friends they had similar issues in which either the heat sync was messed up or the CPU was knocked loose for some reason So I checked the CPU and it was locked in fine and there wasn t any thermal paste on the CPU so I put some on thinking that might do it but it didn t do anything When I put it all back together I booted it up and it actually started but the BiOS had reset itself and there were some errors with the time and something else so I went in and fixed them and then when it tried to boot it went back to doing the typical thing of turning on for about seconds then shutting off then turning back on I gave it a rest for a few hours and tried again and still nothing And I just booted it up now about a day later and it turned on and said the typical Windows was unable to start what would you like to do It might be a power issue but I m not sure what it could be If anyone else has had or is having an issue like this any advice would be great I will try to see if I get any errors this time around and I ll post more information if I can get access without it turning off nbsp
So after consulting with some people it seems as though it is an issue with the BiOS. I was told either I had to replace the BiOS chip (unlikely to do) or replace the entire motherboard (most likely). And while I know the chances or fixing this without replacing anything is minimal, if anyone knows of a way around replacing things then that would be great news.
Hi Charging dv6000 Problem guys I have dv6000 Charging Problem a Hp dv series and am having an issue with charging the battery This may be a little hard to explain so please bare with me and any help would be greatly appreciated So whenever I plug the charger into the computer nothing happens However sometimes I am able to wiggle the chord or push it one and the blue light will turn on and it will charge When I move the computer or the chord moves then I lose the charge Also it seems to have a higher chance of charging when dv6000 Charging Problem the lead is only partly plugged instead of the whole way At first it was easy to find a position where it would charge but it has became increasingly difficult to the point it is not usable The charger shows no signs of wear and tear and is about months old whereas the computer is approximately years old Any help would be awesome Thanks nbsp
Anyone have ideas?
Here is situation. got hp 6000. when turning it on it shows white screen only. connecting to external display works just fine. disconnected the lcd cable from motherboard and connected to another hp 6000 lcd with cable works just fine. so assuming gpu isnt dead as external monitor works. and so is the lcd + cable as it has been verified working on another display.
now im out of options what may be gone wrong. any ideas ???
p.s. friend told me that maybe lvds output is dead. if it so is it fixable?
Yes It is able to be fixed.
hello guys i have a dv 6000 notebook, the processor is a amd turion 64 X2 Mobile Technology TL-52 with 1.61 GHz and 3GB of ram.
i was wondering if vista would run good on my notebook or not.
will the pc run slower with vista or same speed as windows xp that i currently have
since the pc is a 64 bit if i upgrade to vista should i get the 32 bit or 64 bit version? and why?
I've had my HP for 2yrs now and it's always been fine until the last 6 months or so when the battery life was slowly diminishing when it wasn't connected to the charger.
Anyway got a new 12-cell battery and ever since then my laptop's suddenly switches off due to overheating.
It got me thinking that that battery may be responsible?
However the laptop would overheat before this change but it never automatically switched off.
Buy a can of compressed air and blow out any dust from the vents and fans.
The DV6000 is part of the heavily flawed line of HP models that has critical over heating and failure issues. Se if yours is one of them: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c01087277&lc=en&cc=us
I'd also strongly recommend a BIOS model for the laptop even if its not one of the affected models, for the affected models its a must or you'll eventually end up with a non-functional laptop: http://h20180.www2.hp.com/apps/Look...pe=s-002&h_query=dv6000&submit.x=0&submit.y=0
Make sure to let the laptop cool down completely before doing the update.
After doing that if the laptop still has issues then maybe there is an issue with the new battery or due to its size its increasing the inherent overheating issue. Your 12 cell battery, is it a physically bigger battery?
I just purchased Windows Home Premium yesterday and now I don't have a laptop I formatted the whole drive and have a blank drive no recovery disks and limited knowledge I was told that it was simple to install just follow prompts I have been researching for two days and see that I am not the only one with problems with this laptop or several other HP models I will throw this thing in the trash and buy from a decent company if need be I refuse to give in to HP's sale tactics of making you buy their recovery disks being they gave me nothing with my laptop I can't even get the original Vista reinstalled Trying to load drivers during install does nothing either from USB drive cd drive or whatever else Not HP Nightmare dv6000 Pavillion to mention that the dozen drivers I have tried don't show compatible in setup as described on HP's website or even Nvidia If your answer is buy the recovery disks please do not respond If I have HP Pavillion dv6000 Nightmare to bring it to a specialist just to put a disk in the tray and hit next with some hidden drivers than I will smash this garbage send back Windows and use my head next time before buying from money hungry companies taking advantage of innocent customers to make another million

Howdy Folks, I am developing a problem with my HP Pavilion DV6000 Laptop,17" monitor. I am getting a vertical line multi colored about 1" from the left followed by a blue line about 4 " from the left and now a pink line about 4" in from the right. Frankly I do not know if this is a monitor problem or a "card" problem, has anyone else had this problem and is it fixable? I am out of warranty and I have encountered the usual customer service problems with HP. Thanks Dapper
Try connecting and external monitor. If the lines also appear on the external monitor, the "card" is the cause. If the video is normal on the external, it is the internal 17" LCD panel or its associated cables/wireing that are the cause of the lines
Woke up this morning to continue with my work on the above machine but it simply wont boot. The battery is fully charged and the charging adapter is okay because it worked on another computer. When I press the power button of the computer nothing happens. No fan sound no picture, absolutely nothing except that the power LED flickers for a second and that's all. The machine is barely a year old and I have not experienced this before. Have tried reseating the memory cards; removed and inserted the battery all to no avail. Please help. Bosunojay

My HP Pavillion Laptop has stopped booting. I only get the blue powerlights to flash briefly once. I have tried removing the battery, disconnecting the bios battery - all to no avail.
Following hp's troubleshooting guides, this points to a cpu failure - is it worth replacing the CPU (AMD) - or does the whole motherboard need replacing.
There have been huge issues with that series of HP laptops... I suggest you call HP and discuss the problem. HP has recently admitted some of these problems and has accommodated some owners with repairs, even out of warranty repairs.
It is my understanding that it is a motherboard problem, and the CPU is fine... but my info is all second hand... so call HP and be persistent.
I know I'm one among many, but this is what it does.
power on with all led's on, the HD buzzes for 15-20 secs, the screen does not turn on at all, and then it reboots again, and again.
any suggestions welcome.
my only working comp has ubuntu 10.04 beta

Hi I currently have an HP DV that will not start up When I press the power button all HP Issues DV6000 Loading the LED lights come on the fan kicks on and the computer seems to be cycling up However after about a minute of a completely blank screen nothing ever shows up the computer will shut off a sharp one beep will sound and then the computer attempts to cycle back on The process has continued indefinitely I have tried many solutions that I have read online such as unplugging the computer holding down the power button to remove any static build up and then plugging it back in This has never worked The only way I can get my computer to stay on is by pressing escape during its start up phase and the result is a computer that stays on but nothing ever comes up on the screen I have no idea what to do so if anyone can help me it would be greatly appreciated I believe the operating system is Windows XP bit if that helps at all I am out of options right now and need to know if I need a new computer for school Thank you in advance nbsp
Many HP DV6000 and DV9000, plus many others had similar failures. These laptops were very poorly built and worst yet had a flaw with the nVidia chipset that they had. If your DV6000 has an AMD processor and an nVidia chipset its likely one of the affected models. Not worth fixing if its the mainboard.
Hi. My HP Pavilion dv6000 keeps shutting down when i try to turn it on. Also it shuts down when i touch the first two Quick play buttons.http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Boot-and-Lockup/My-Pavilion-dv6000-keeps-shutting-down/td-p/5808188
My pavilion laptop has recently been unable to charge when im on it. The battery has a short life (admittedly my fault), so I have to stop and wait for it to charge every hour or so.http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Software-and-How-To-Questions/My-HP-Pavilon-laptop-Will-only-charge-when-my-laptop-is-off/td-p/5805312
Ok so I hadn't used my hp dv6000 entertainment pc since 06' because of a broken LCD screen..now that I've replaced it... It booted up normally at first but after a couple of days, it started taking hours to boot! I'm on the second consecutive day of not being able to even get to the windows screen! What can my prob be? I've scanned my notebook for malware before this happened and I have no infections! All my notebook does is seem like it's about to boot up but then turns back off and on automatically while set in a black screen... Like I said, I can't even get to the hp intro logo at times....hours...days? This is rediculous! Please any help would be greatly appreciated.....Oh and I'm running windows vista...
Was updating the software on my HP Pavillion dv6000 limited use laptop and found that there was a BIOS update available for it. Since the current BIOS version on the laptop was F.22 and HP had BIOS version F.5A available since October 2014, I decided to download and update. The BIOS update utility ran to completion without errors, starting at block 16 traversing backwards to block 1. Once, complete it justdown the laptop. But when I powered up the laptop, all lights illumination, the screen stays dark, no disk activity and no more laptop. Just a big paper weight now. Any one have any Idea on how to revert the BIOS back, or just I just consider that I just lost a good working laptop?http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Boot-and-Lockup/Upgrade-of-BIOS-on-HP-Pavillion-dv6000-from-F-22-to-F-5A/td-p/5597869
I got a free HP dv6000 from my uncle, but it has a lot of problems.
1. The monitor doesn't work (works when hooked up to an external)
2. The keyboard doesn't work (works when hooked up to an external)
3. Mouse doesn't work (works when hooked up to external)
4. The system WILL NOT boot to any type of Windows/Ubuntu CD, or load CDs at all for that matter (I can hear it spinning though)
5. The system WILL NOT boot to windows, it will try and then say "Operating system not found"
6. Sometimes the system won't boot at all and will beep 3 times.
7. The system makes horrendously loud scratching/clicking sounds
What in the world is wrong with this laptop?
I've edited your thread for language, please keep the forums rules in mind when posting.
Does this model have an AMD processor? If so its trash. HP DV2000, DV6000, and DV9000 models with AMD processors experienced massive motherboard failures and other component failures. Pretty much everything broke on those units.
Hi my name is Brent and recently I ve been experiencing issues with my laptop and its wireless capabilities I live in a dorm room and don t have a wireless router so I ve had my wireless turned off for quite some time Recently I went home where I do have a router and attempted to turn on my wireless to no avail I have a switch on the front of my computer that is supposed to turn blue when the wireless is on but it never changes from the orange dormant color I ve No dv6000 Internet Pavilion HP -- Connection had this issue before when my computer was under warranty and I had to send it to HP According to them the issue was with my motherboard and once it was replaced I haven t any issues up until now I went into the device manager and the only issue that seems to be there is HP Pavilion dv6000 -- No Internet Connection an error message next to my to adapter and it says This device is not working properly because HP Pavilion dv6000 -- No Internet Connection Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device Code My computer is an HP Pavilion dv that runs Windows Vista Home Premium -Bit Any help would be greatly appreciated Thanks in advance nbsp
Is there any physical switch or button on the laptop that would allow you to turn wireless capabilities on and off?
My dv 6000 HP windows vista is complining of operating system not found, and sometimes it will boot up to windows after several on and off.
Can we have a few more details on this please?
It may simply be that you require a fresh install of your OS this may solve any issues that you have on this.
Does it say NTFS not found or somthing simila? if it does it sounds like that there may be a fault on the boot disk which is normally resolved by a fresh install. however if you have installed a new software recently on the laptop i would recommend un-installing the software just incase this is causing problems.
Hope this helps
I have a HP Pavilion dv6238ea and it had xp on it and the webcam driver i downloaded from hp.com worked fine. Then i formatted it and installed windows 7 in it.
Windows 7 detected the webcam and installed the driver. The webcam shows as ''HP Webcam 1000" and the manufacturer is "Micro Vision" and also the driver is provided by 'Micro Vision'. But it doesn't work. It only shows a black screen.
I downloaded the vista driver from hp.com for my laptop(HP Webcam Driver with Firmware Upgrade for Microsoft Windows Vista HP Pavilion dv6238ea Notebook PC - HP Customer Care (United States - English)) but it is not able to install. It gives an error.
There is no available driver for windows 7 for this laptop (or any dv6000 series i think) on hp.com
Can anyone help in solving this?
Did you install 32 bit or 64 bit W7?
can you please click start - right click computer - manage - device manager. It will either be listed as an unknown device or under the imaging devices heading. Right click on any unkown devices or the webcam, click properties, details tab, hardware ID. copy and paste back the two lines here.
I am having problems connecting my HP pavillion dv6000 to internet. It connects when i plug in the cable, and it connects to the network wirelessly but i can't seem to get an internet connection. i have connected wirelssly in the past to the internet, but dont know what's wrong now.
I don't know that much about computers, so please keep the explanation simple!
Click start run and type cmd inside of the black box type "ipconfig /all" without the quotes and notice the space between ipconfig and the / so it is ipconfig space forward slash then the word all.http://www.techsupportforum.com/forums/f217/connect-hp-pavillion-dv6000-to-internet-391293.html
Back in May my wife and I bought our daughter an HP Compaq Presario DV laptop for college Yes I am well aware that Compaq is a basic build but for the past three years How this? DV6000: Compaq would you HP Presario handle a it has and does everything she needs it to b it has been HP Compaq Presario DV6000: How would you handle this? problem free including the Vista Home Premium OS it runs c and continues to function well despite the many places she has to take it on travel etc The only glith is that since January she has not been able to access wirelessly but can do so via ethernet cable Long story short HP Compaq Presario DV6000: How would you handle this? the Wireless LED is constantly amber indicating the issue lies with the mini lan card I have done the following on my own and with HP Literally did diffrent approaches as per their quot Solve Setup and HP Compaq Presario DV6000: How would you handle this? Internet Connection Issues on a Wireless Network with Vista quot but nothing worked The system could not find the card I then contacted Tech Support and did the following as per their directions a Reseated the wireless LAN card b Updated the latest wireless drivers c Flashed to the latest BIOS So I wrote back and here is what they had to say Thank you for writing back to HP Total Care As the issue persists even after removing and reseating the wireless card then the issue is with hardware malfunction of the system board or wireless card As the issue is related to hardware of the notebook it requires onsite diagnosis I have checked the database and regret to inform you that your notebook warranty has expired I knew this already Usually this repair would cost service tax HP has offered a discounted price for cost both sided shipping servicing Service tax Service center will give you a call once they diagnose if a part needs to be replaced and about exact cost for repair Please let us know the best number and time to give you a call back so that we can service your notebook at the earliest I could get a new card for off of Amazon yes it is a genuine part and see if that works but I am not sending it back to HP I don t have the to do it Any outside shot me testing the system board and if so how Thoughts and advice most welcomed The bottom line at this point If I can t fix it via new wireless card then she ll have to connect via ethernet cable nbsp
You can also consider a USB wireless adapter. I see them for around $20 - $50 bucks
My child has a HP Pavilion dv6000 32 bit running Vista.
I don't know what happened but the audio, video and most importantly all Internet/Network drivers are missing. Since there was a lapse in protection it could be a virus OR a classmate deleted thmm???
I have downloaded all drivers on the HP website but still not working or I get :"Only for Vista"???
I loaded the backup/recovery/driver CD but again - still not working(Internet).
Any HELP would be appreciated.

Go into SOUND option in control panel and check the playback devices. Even if you uninstall the driver, it will somtiems remain disbaled in that menu. If you don't even see a playback device in there, r-click on the background and tell it to "show hidden device". If the speakers are enabled, and the levels are turned up in that menu also, and it still doesn't work, then you probably have dead speakers.

The hard disk crashed and I have been unable to reinstall Vista Home Premium with org. and recovery disks on new Hard Disk. Would like to reformat and install Win XP on it. Can't seem to figure out how to do it.
I get the "no operating system found" error. The HD is unformatted as it is new.
I've been all over the HP site and followed the endless loops for information, to no avail.
Any help will be greatly appreciated (sp).
You have to have a valid Windws XP install disk... HP install disks detect the hard drive, and if they are not designed specifically for that drive, they wimply will not work. You may have to buy a copy of Windows XP, then boot to it...
You will need drivers, so check to see if the HP website offers drivers for that system configuration. If not, you have to be experienced enough to locate and download them yourself.
But what you propose is very possible... just go to the HP site for your HP model, and look for what operating systems are supported.
I have tried a LAN, Wireless, and also a USB Cricket Tri-band stick. When clicking on the unidentified network in network and sharing center there are no networks or any information displayed. When on cmd and run ipconfig /all i get...
Media State....Media disconnected
Connection-specific DNS suffix...
