Looking for a 1440p monitor upgrade

Q: Looking for a 1440p monitor upgrade

Hi, I currently have a Samsung P2450 and I love it (24"/1080p), is there a 1440p upgrade that won't break the bank?

Preferred Solution: Looking for a 1440p monitor upgrade

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: Looking for a 1440p monitor upgrade

1440p is pretty hard not to break the bank still but I can offer a few suggestions:

27" QNIX 2560x1440p $349 (This contains a Samsung Panel inside 8ms response time)

27" Crossover 2560x1440p $329 (Has a better response time to the one above 6ms response time)

27" Yamakasi Catleap 2560x1440p $379 (6ms Response, this brand has some of the best reviews)

Name brands like Samsung and Acer cost a lot more, these get good reviews and are just fine for use. They all have decent reviews, yet the Yamakasi's from the newegg site always seems to have the most 5 star reviews and get good feedback. No matter what, your going to be limited in your choices in this area if you can pay a fortune lol. They are still in the Luxury price point range in my book until they hit below 300.

Hope this gives you an idea!

Hey guys,

I have decided I am going to leave the world of 1080p. I am looking to get a Korean 1440p for hopefully ~$300. I have been doing some research and have narrowed down the field to these two Crossover monitors:

1. Perfect Pixel Crossover 2795 QHD Ahips LED 27" 2560x1440 LG IPS Monitor Matte | eBay

2. Perfect Pixel Crossover 27QHD IPS LED 27" 2560x1440 LG s IPS PC Monitor Glossy | eBay

I think I have accounted for most factors, but I am still a little confused about some nuances here and there such as the impact of matte vs. gloss, AHIPS, and overclocking potential.

Does anyone have any recommendations on either one of these two or another one I should consider? Thank you for any and all help in this matter.

A:Looking to get a Korean 1440p Monitor (Help)

You don't want a glossy panel, so that solves that.

Overclocking potential relies on the panel itself and is a gamble. They say 100hz but it could be 75, it could be 85, you never know until you get it.

Both are LG IPS panels so more than likely using the same panel with a different coating, just take note that these only utilize a single DVI-D DL port.

Just a heads up, but Newegg sells a similar panel and an Acer for similar cost if you don't want to take the risk on a Korean panel having dead pixels.

The Acer has different inputs and with DP the chances are higher of a possible overclock.

Hello

My second monitor is a Samsung U28D590D set to extend my first monitor. The max resolution my GPU (GT 750m) can run is 2560x1440. When I set the resolution to 2560x1440, my desktop has thick black borders around the wallpaper. (See attached screenshot.) If I set the resolution to 1080p, the desktop is fine. Any resolutions in between also have borders. I can still right click on the black border section of the desktop, so the resolution is being applied, it's just the wallpaper that isn't scaling. Any ideas how to fix this?

A:Black border around Samsung U28D590D monitor at 1440p

Hi try adjusting the scaling in the graphics control panel could be called over or under scanning.

I use a full hd 27 inch monitor but I fancy something a little sharper. Is 4K worth it for office and web browsing or would the 1440P be more suitable? I would be limited to 27-28 size. An IPS panel or equivalent would help the sharpness.

A:1440P or 4K

I'm on a Samsung U28D590D. 28", UHD (3840 X 2180). It's only TN, but it was a relatively cheap monitor that does 60 Hz. I'm not sure that an IPS or one of the other technologies would be sharper. Better uniformity and wider viewing angles, probably.

I like the extra real estate. Some applications (like Photoshop CS6) don't scale well: the icons are well defined but tiny. It's good fro web browsing, but dual monitors might be better for office applications.

I getting a 1440p monitor in a couple of days and I have 2 gtx 670 from gigabyte factory overclocked windforce edition.
Are the cards capable of playing games on ultra settings with 1440p res?(like battlefield 4,crysis 3 and batman)

A:1440p with 2xsli gtx 670

two GTX 670's at 1440p should be able to handle BF4 at ultra but I'm not sure at 60 fps due to your cards having 2gb of VRAM as BF4 is VRAM intensive at 1440p and i noticed you mentioned Crysis 3 at 1440p crysis 3 is more vram intensive at 1440p than any other game I have ever played not to mention performance wise it isn't all that great, I can't promise you 60 fps constantly but I can say it should be a smooth experience.

Hi
I want to know that the panel of ASUS VX24AH is IPS or TN ??
And I have another question :
Can HDMI1.4 get 60HZ in 1440P ??

Tnx

A:HDMI 1.4 and 1440p

According to the specs on the Asus website it's IPS: https://www.asus.com/Monitors/VX24AH/specifications/
Panel Type : In-Plane SwitchingClick to expand...

As for the 1440p over HDMI 1,4, you'll have to try and see if it works. The monitor does support 1440p over HDMI but some video cards will not and limit it to 1080p, you can sometimes create a custom resolution, most new ones should go to 1440p/60Hz over HDMI.

Hi guys,
I recently downloaded a video that was 1440p (and then the same one that was 2160p) from youtube using Ummy video downloader 2.1. It's MP4 format and when I try to watch it on Windows Media Player (I'm not sure what exact version I have) it only plays the audio for it and no visuals except for a blue/black-ish background and a musical note in a box in the center. At the very bottom left of the screen under the progress bar there's a small little rectangle that has moving "))))))))))" and when I hover over it, it says either "Network is too busy to play file at original quality" or "playing at 254 kbps".
Is there a way to change the settings or update my WMP? Or is there another video player out there that will allow me to watch these ultra HQ videos?

Thanks!

Hi everyone,

I seriously need some perspective. I've ordered an Overlord Tempest X270 OC 1440p monitor. I'm trying to decide between:

1. 2x XFX R9 290X (CrossFire)
2. 2x nVidia GTX 970 (MSI/Asus Strix) (SLI)
3. Single nVidia GTX 980 PNY XLR8 Pro OC

Other parts are:

EVGA 850 G2
Intel Core i5 4690K
Asus Maximus VII Hero
GSkill Trident 16GB
Intel 730 Series SSD (480 GB)
NZXT S340

Have been reading up a lot but am finding it hard to choose. Any help is greatly appreciated.

A:GTX 970 SLI, Radeon 290X CF or Single GTX 980 for 1440p (120Hz)

Only the first two options will get you to 120 fps on any game made within the last few years. I have a machine with an i7 and 970 SLI and a machine with an i7 and an EVGA 980 Superclock and at 2560x1440 only the 970s can manage... and not all the time. Most of the time I set my monitor refresh to 100Hz because there's a much greater chance that my cards can get me there.

I don't have any AMD GPUs atm so can't say about that but I will say that I've had one hell of a time getting XFX to honor their warranties in the past.

Hey guys,

Im running the following rig: 6700K, GTX 980Ti Zotac Amp Extreme!, 16 GB DDR4 RAM, Windows 10 (running at 4k), Samsung u28d590d (4K Monitor). This question is gaming related. Normally i play games at either 2160p or 1440p. However, if I try to set a game to 1080p (which is different from windows resolution, so Nvidia settings seem to have no effect on it through the control panel), like Star Citizen or for testing purposes Fallout 4 / Arma 3, the colors turn very washed out and grey. The monitor is connected via Displayport. The components used in the build are all from top notch brands. Higher resolutions work fine. Might it have something to do with windows resolution? Any suggestions on how to fix the issue?

something like this would serve you well I think. You are probably running into issues with only 1GB of ram as well, you probably want to at least double that. BTW your CPU runs at 2.2Ghz, that's in power saving mode you are seeing.

I am finally upgrading from my 20" monitor and would like to know your opinions on what monitor I should purchase. I am working within a $280 budget and leaning towards a 27" rather than a 24", is this a good choice? The monitor would be used extensively for gaming, and also for watching media and browsing the web, school work, etc. If it matters, my computer uses an Nvidia GPU. For 27" monitors I am thinking id get one of these:
BenQ GL2750HM
Acer V273HL
Samsung S27B550V

They are all 1080p and seem to be ideal, are these good decisions and if so, which is the best decision for my situation? I have heard mixed decisions on which is the best brand for gaming and media. I am buying from Australia and it would be very ideal if the monitor was available on PC Case Gear (http://www.pccasegear.com/).

A:Best upgrade with monitor for $400

This Gskill is on sale for the time being. It will run fine a 800Mhz http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231144
If you decide it'll do the job, better grab it quick.

It will also POST and run fine at 1066Mhz. I'm using it with an E7300 / P45 rig.

The OCZ memory looks like a good choice also. It depends what OS you're going to use. If 32 Bit XP, I'd go with the 2GB kits though.

The choice of a monitor is not as difficult as it used. I'm sort of the opinion that they're all pretty good and they're all pretty much the same. Shoot for $130.00 to $150.00 for a 20".

Personally I very strongly advise against either a 19" or 20" in wide screen! They're too short. A 19" won't even display an 8 X 10" photo full height, in portrait orientation.
22" is the sweet spot and one should set you back $150.00 to $190.00. I had two 19" wide screens, sold one, returned the other. My total time of ownership for both, about 3 weeks..

Hey guys,

I've been looking to purchase a new monitor to replace my current one, but I have been struggling on what monitor to purchase. I was also doing a bit of research, and lots of people were saying to buy a TN or IPS panel, and until today, I had no idea there were different types of LCD panels, so I'm not sure what to get. I'm planning to use the monitor for pretty much everything, gaming, browsing, watching movies, etc. My budget is around $350, and I've been looking for a 27 inch monitor.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

A:Looking to upgrade my monitor

IPS panels are more expensive and generally for graphic design professionals or photo enthusiasts who require accurate colour reproduction, and they also offer far superior viewing angles. For you I think a TN panel is fine, in any case I doubt you will be able to get a 27in IPS panel for $350.

Do you want a glossy or a matte monitor? If your computer is near a window or light source then I would strongly suggest a matte one, otherwise it's personal preference.

Asus generally make some inexpensive and decent monitors.

A:Monitor won't turn off since upgrade to XP Pro

hello & welcome to TSF ,

do you have a Windows Xp cd, not the restore cd's that come with some systems, the cd will have the Windows logo & 3D hollowgram/image on it

if you do not maybe you can barrow one from a friend/family member/co-worker as long as it is the same version that is on your system

if you have (Windows XP Home Ed. sp2 ) then the cd will have to be that / if you have a cd with (Windows XP Home Ed. )you will have to slipstream (SP2 ) onto a disk that you create

this also applies to (Windows XP Professsional )

http://www.helpwithwindows.com/Windo...p2-bootcd.html

now if you do have the Windows XP cd with sp2 please follow these steps

--------------------------------------------

performing a (sfc) system file checker

It is a scan that checks the core files & dlls of the (os) operating system and replaces them if they are corrupt or missing with the correct original version

start

#1 then select (run) , then press enter
a window will open
#2 type in ( cmd ) then press enter
another window will open
#3 type in ( sfc )then press enter
another window will open
#4 type in (sfc /purgecache) then enter / your pc will work like crazy / this helps in rebuiding the cache file (notice the space between (sfc & /)
#5 type in (sfc /scannow ) then press enter ( notice the space between the (sfc & / )

now a scan will start , have your (Windows XP software disk ready ) your pc may ask for this disc when it starts or during the scan( so you must sit with the pc while this scan functions ) , if it does then incert the cd into one of your cd/rom/player's , your pc will then reconnize it and continue , you will then have to minimize the splash screen for the cd to see the scan , when the scan is finished you will need to close the cd and all open windows , then remove the cd

you will then need to do a ( Disk Cleanup ) , then empty the caches & temp files thru the (Internet Options) , then do a defrag

restart your pc

then do a defrag again after the reboot
------------------------------------------
also
------------------------------------------
now this is the process

a (sfc) is a windows scanner that is directed at the core system files & dll's

it scans only these files & dll's to see if they have been corrupted or replaced by (maleware/spyware/trojans/ viruses/ ect..that are designed to mask themselves as part of the operating system and cause havic or send information/data to it maker /originator

now i do know that during this process that these 2 patches/hotfix's will be knocked out

to wich can be easily reinstalled by downloading them from the download center at microsoft / since microsoft is always creating patches & fix's for the software to solve issues they placemant & page that they are on will change / when downloading them you can save them for fucture use and reinstalling / just make a file and put them into it / one will ask to have the system rebooted ( yes ) the other simply is installed

i use (Belarc Advisor)to wich will show you all your installed patchs & fix's and if they are intack & will give you a direct link to microsft to either give you info on the patch/fix or a link to reinstall the patch/fix

you can download it here

now with the removal of infections i find it to be best to do a (sfc) for from the process of removal some files/ dlls can be damage and need to be replaced

now also when you remove infections it can also cause added programs to act weirdly or to stop fuctioning all together to wich they may need to be repaired or reinstalled

I have an IBM Thinkpad 755C. I would like to upgrade my monitor resolution (16 bit),
is that possible on this machine. I am running Win95, will Win 98 upgrade help at all?

A:Upgrade Monitor Resolution

the OS upgrade ain't worth it just to bump your monitor to 16-bit, it won't do a thing. Check your system control panel and see what driver its using for your monitor

You may also wanna check out IBM's site, you'll get to the right page eventually, would provide URL, but it won't hyperlink correctly. I'm not sure if the rigth file's there, but there's next to no harm in keeping your drivers updated (so many ppl neglect this point)

And in acse anyone's wondering why i edited this post 5 times, its 'cause of the URL code, pain in the (fill-in-the-blank-here)

A:SP2 upgrade has knocked out Monitor

Might not be the monitor; it might be the video card controller.

Check Control Panel > System > Hardware > Device Manager

Click "show hidden devices" and report any flagged devices here. Pay particular attention to anything related to video.

Hello All,
Just upgraded my RAM to 96MB using 3 32MB chips. Two of them were already in the system and I took the other one from an IBM Netvista. When I try to connect everything again, the monitor is not being recognized and does not power on. I do not get a display. I tried everything. Removed the RAM to the original 64Mb - Nothing! Switched Video cards from ATI Xpert 2000 to original Trident - nothing! Tried different monitors - Nothing??! Please help!

A:From RAM upgrade to blank monitor

Try resting the Bios.. Either pull the battery and unplug it.. Or find the jumper.. If it is a ATX board it must be unplugged..

Then restart and first go into the bios and hit restore defaults. you may have to let it redetect your drives too.

Hi everyone my compter is about 3 years old and I have the basic 15" monitor that it came with. I would like to upgrade to a new 19" or 22" widescreen, but I don't know if my computer will support the widescreen ratio. When I go tot he control panel to see what screen resolutions are available, there are only 800x600, 1024x768, and 1280x1024. So does that mean that I'd have to stick with a non-widescreen 20" like this as my best option?

Okay here s the deal I m currently using a quot CRT monitor with a max res of x I m looking at replacing this with an LCD monitor the primary purpose of which will be gaming Now a couple of years ago I received an LCD monitor for Christmas but I Upgrade Monitor Suggestions switched it with the CRT my fiancee was using due to poor pixel response time on that monitor Unfortunately I m lost in a sea of options so I have some questions DVI or VGA I ve heard Monitor Upgrade Suggestions arguments that DVI is better and arguments that say you can t tell any real difference Widescreen I ve never used one and don t have any way to sample one where I live po-dunk town This question is more directed at the gaming crowd like it love it meh Native resolution Again more for gamers Is a variation what most people use Are higher resolutions worth the performance hit in your experience etc Pixel response time I ve heard a lot of ones to stay below is it ms ms other I might think of some more but I m basically trying to narrow down the necessary features by hearing what others have experienced Thanks nbsp

A:Monitor Upgrade Suggestions

Around 2000:1 contrast ratio is good, 300 cd/m*m brightness, DVI vs VGA: I really don't notice any difference. Still, it's better to go DVI. Widescreen: I didn't like the idea, having always used a 5:4(1280x1024) or 4:3 screen and the times I had used a widescreen monitor for anything else than Wording, I didn't like it... I went for a Samsung 204B, old model, got it cheap as used, 20", 800:1, 300 cd/m*m, 5 ms 1600x1200 resolution. I loved it. Response time should be 5 ms max for gaming, and it shouldn't be GTG(gray to gray, a less demanding change, giving false "speed" to advertize). Native res... I really think it's better to use 1600x1200 with quite minimal AA and AF and shadows rather than 1280x1024 with better eye-candy settings. But I think that's about personal preferrance. With your card, could be better to get a 1280x1024 or 1440x900(/1680x1050) monitor.
Asus and Acer seem to make nice low-budget monitors. Which country you live in? Anyway to use web store like newegg.com or Scan.co.uk?

I have a Sony SDM-HS73 LCD monitor

will give me a better image than I am seeing now

My video card ( BFG 6600 GT) supports DVI

A:Looking for an excuse to upgrade monitor

If my experience is to be believed, the difference will be minimal, if you notice it at all. I have several panels with analog only interfaces, and a few DVI models. I can't see any significant difference in the display quality between them. I have a Dell analog display and a Princeton Graphics DVI display on this machine, both 19" models. The quality is identical to my eyes, and to other folks that I have asked when they've been here. Both look "tack sharp".

However, a good excuse to buy another panel is to run dual monitors. Once you've tried it, you'll never go back.

I just upgraded from Windows 2000 to XP. On 2000 I had my resolution set to 640 x 480. Had a very clear picture with larger icons. Now that I've converted my screen is so fuzzy I can barely stand to look at it and have it set to 800 x 600 and highest 32 bit quality--which is the largest resolution I have now. I have also gone in and changed my clear type-which made no difference at all. My screen is still so fuzzy it's giving me a headache. My monitor is a CTX that I purchased back in 1998. This may have something to do with it. I just keep upgrading my pc, but not my monitor. Thanks for any help.

A:Fuzzy Monitor after XP Upgrade

Since you changed your screen resolution, have you tried increasing your refresh rate and ensuring your monitor is correctly installed (color profile and drivers), the higher the rate the clearer it will appear.

Right click desktop, click properties, click settings, click advanced;
click monitor tab, be sure "hide modes this monitor cant display" is checked and set your refresh rate as high as you can. You can also try to install your correct monitor type, by clicking properties beside monitor and choosing driver tab, update driver.
Last, choose a color profile that matches your monitor, click the color management tab,a nd then associate your color profile from your monitor by clicking add button, browse to your monitor drivers folder, and choose the correct profile.

If none of these work, it is possible your monitor is tired, or losing its clarity because of its age.

I have 2 separate problems:

I upgraded the memory in my laptop (ENPOWER 800 series) from 64 mb (2-32mb SDRAM) to 128 mb (1-64mb SDRAM & 2-32mb), but it seems to be running slower than before. I've got windows (98 SE) managing my memory, that's about all I know as far as the memory config.

The other prob is I just got a desktop monitor given to me, but the green is burned out (I guess), the screen has a purplish hue to it & the red & blues are very neon. Can it be fixed or shall I trash it?

A:Memory upgrade & monitor probs

When you put the new memory in, did you put the 64 in the first slot? If not try that. Also does it recognize it on bootup, when it counts memory on first screen??

Personally I think the monitor may not be worth messing with. There not very much inside you could do anything with. One thing you may try first though is to open it and very carefully pull the connector off the end of the picture tube, then slide it off and on a few times. May just be a little corrosion on contacts. Be careful as there is 20,000 volts inside a monitor even when turned off. the (usually red) wire that plugs into the side of the tube charges the tube to around that voltage and the tube will hold that charge unless you know how to discharge it.

Background: Built a different system with new M/B, CPU, and case (Win7). Transferred GeForce 7300 video card over and put in new PCi-e bus....NO video, even with embedded video disabled and bios set for it....the only video I can get is using embedded ATI Radeon 4200.

However, I have loaded and reloaded drivers for the Radeon and for the monitor (Samsung T220). Device manager shows monitor and display adapter to be correct. But when I try to set display resolution in control panel, the monitor native display resolution of 1650 X 1080 is not available, and the monitor just shows "VGA". Closest I can get is 1600 X 1200. So, I am stuck having to use only the embedded video and a resolution that my monitor doesn't exactly like.......ANY HELP APPRECIATED! I am not a gamer, but use this for a lot of Photoshop CS5 work.

p.s. I have an Radeon 5670 on order....will this even work?

A:Help with monitor resolution/setup after upgrade?

Hi, I always get the same problem with my onboard graphics card on windows 7, I personally install the right drivers and it works, but sometimes it fails so i use the closest like what you have there and i apply i don't click ok, so that if it doesn't work, it will bring me back to that screen in 15secs.
However now that you are going to get the new Radeon 5670, that will solve the equation.
If u still want to use you old card, then you have to get new versions of the drivers or you may have to install them manually.
Hope that helps

My Pavilion 22xi Monitor indicates "monitor going to sleep" about 10 minutes. Nothing about "no signal". I have been rebooting and that seems to temporarily fix it until the next time I power up. Today however, it rebooted itself but "went back to sleep at least 3 more times in less than 10 minutes  until I rebooted it manually.
At first I changed settings in Windows 10 but I realized that had nothing to do with my monitor.
I saw other answers on the forum but none referring to my 22xi.

A:Monitor going to sleep after Windows 10 upgrade

Hi there @SEORonW, May the Forums be with you!  It is a great place to find the help you need, from other users, HP experts and other support personnel.  I understand that your display is going to sleep on you, regularly. I am happy to help with this. Was this happening prior to switching to Windows 10?Have you tried to use a different connection type from your computer?Did you test your display with a different system using the same cable and connection type to see if the same sleep issue occurs?Do you have access to another display to test with your computer using the same connection and cable, and if so does the same sleep issue occur? Also take a look through this: HP and Compaq Flat Panel Monitors - Flat Panel Monitor Displays Message about No Signal, Signal out .... It is not specific to Windows 10, but some could still be relevant.  Please let me know whether that works for you, and if it does resolve your issue, please mark this post as a solution. Kudos would also be appreciated.

If you don't game, you'd be fine with what you have. If you want to do modern gamimg, you won't be able to at naitive resolutions no matter what card you put in.

Yes if you get a PCI card with dual out, you can run 2 monitors easily enough, you'll just have to play with some settings in the display properties to get them to behave how you want.

Due to a shoulder injury I need to type and edit photos standing up. I thought I'd upgrade to a large high resolution monitor but wonder if my present system could handle it. The 19" monitor I'm using has a 1440 x 900 native resolution but I want a bigger monitor, maybe 30"and the resolutions are now 1920 x 1200 and 2650 x 1440 at the bigger sizes for photo editing. My HDTV, which I have linked via HDMI is a nice size but the resolution makes everything look very crude. I just can't see what I'm doing.

Do I need to upgrade the graphics card and power supply again? (I had to to install the newer Photoshop about 9 months ago)

I'm attaching system information. Thanks in advance.

A:Can I upgrade my monitor with the graphics card I have?

Yes you should be fine with that card as long as you don't do any gaming. PCs always look worse on TVs through HDMI, so with a large monitor (even at 1080p) you will see a world of difference.

I'm having an issue with my monitor displaying anything during the upgrade from 64bit Vista Ultimate to 64bit 7 Ultimate. I've searched the forums a bit but it seems like most similar problems, the user is able to boot into safe.

The BIOS screen comes up, followed by the "starting Windows" screen, then monitor goes to Digital Powersave Mode and turns black. I'm guessing it is a driver issue but I'm unable to continue setup after Win logo or boot into safe mode. If I try to boot from safe, it comes up with an error of "Cannot continue setup from safe mode, please restart" or something of the sort.

Any suggestions? I've tried an analog connection from the onboard and svideo to my tv since those are the other ports available on my card/board.

Windows probably has had more installations during it's first year of life than any other Windows version before due in part to the continuing Insider Program and also due to the free year of upgrades that has just ended It is likely that there will why no - pinpoint monitor Setup/upgrade to causes? failure be a publicly regularly available set of new build releases for the foreseeable future if Microsoft continues to value the Setup/upgrade failure - why no monitor to pinpoint causes? Program Microsoft Windows developers have clearly modified and improved the Setup process during this time and no doubt there will be even more advances to come Like so many Windows-related systems Windows Setup is mostly undocumented part of the quot Security by Obfuscation quot mindset that tries to keep hackers out of Microsoft products Yet there are still seeing installation and upgrade failures often without any reasonable explanation why a particular attempt has failed although thankfully the quot something happened quot error message is not as common as it formerly was Underlying the process of upgrade and setup there are certain logs that should and may be able to shed light on failures but seemingly these rarely offer useful pointers to the failure circumstances The best advice given to people with setup or upgrade difficulties seems to be to run the system with as few peripheral devices attached as practicable for clean installs and with no third party or startup software including firewall and antivirus protection and no networking for the setup run in case of some possible conflicts There seems to be little indication of any Windows Error Reporting activity or any quot crashlog quot or memory dump saved if Windows manages to rollback to the previous installation or worse fails to roll back to a useable system WinPE more than one version apparently with either a Vista Windows or a Windows windows appearance at different times during Setup is the basis of the setup process and may be observed in action throughout most of the setup process by opening a cmd console using lt Shift gt lt F gt keys pressed simultaneously There is limited Windows functionality under WinPE - taskmgr exe notepad exe regedit exe and maybe a few other basic Windows programs are available in GUI mode with many of the commandline utilities such as diskpart exe dism exe etc are all usable when run from the commandline Explorer is not available If the mouse is functional depending on the basic drivers that are loaded then it may be possible to use a pointer in the GUI utilities and one of the features of Task Manager is to run new tasks so it is possible to browse through the drives and run portable applications such as the -Zip File Manager in order to explore the file activity going on during setup Using Task Manager one feature with many setup failures is that the CPU utilisation is running flat out at perhaps an indication of a driver or resource management problem - commonly with the system interrupts deferred procedure calls running at a high level above of CPU use The other downside is that the processor may overheat under these circumstances and if this does not lead to a system burnout failure or a failure-preventive shutdown of course this leads to the setup program crawling along fighting for processor time segments Eventually some process may trigger a timeout and the setup bails out How can we find which devices are responsible for this misbehaving All the user sees is the ring of dots and quot Getting Ready quot or some such non-informative message onscreen for perhaps hours MSInfo can be called from the command line but of course will be subject to the same lack of processor availability as setup and the WMI service will not be available - so to all intents and purposes is useless I feel it is high time Microsoft or some rd-party developer should produce a monitor for Windows Setup to indicate whether all is progressing fine or that there is some prob... Hi I have a 2009 HP Pavillion Slimline s3614 and HP w1907v monitor, 4GB RAM. I have updated my operating system to Windows 10 and since the upgrade it has run slowly and after 5-10 mins the screen resolution seems to deteriorate and look fragmented. This is still happening despite checking that the monitor drivers are up to date and dropping to the lowest screen resolution. I have checked on the HP website and can see there is not a w1907v monitor driver for Windows 10. Is this the problem? Is there any way around this or am I better off going back to Windows 7? Thanks very much Rajnikant

A:HP w1907v monitor not working with after Windows 10 upgrade

Rajnimorarji, welcome to the forum. Your best option is to run HP and Windows Updates to see if that helps.  I believe that your problem is the driver. Here is a guide with the most common solutions for Win 10. Please click the Thumbs up + button if I have helped you and click Accept as Solution if your problem is solved.

Recently I used a free upgrade from Dell to Vista Home Premium. Upon completing the install my computer rebooted properly. However once the boot cycle is complete my monitor goes dim like it's set on power saver. I have verified that all the power settings are correct and the device is running properly but I cannot find a way around this issue. I've been contemplating going back to XP. Any ideas, feedback, experience with this, etc.??

A:Vista upgrade lead to monitor issue

Sounds like an incompatible video driver, use F8 at boot to get to the Windows advanced screen, then select "enable low resolution video" to boot into vista using windows default video driver, once you can get to the desktop either remove the video driver or update it to a vista compatible version.

Check if the power cords are attached correctly.
Probably your monitor does not support the GeForce 9600 GT or it needs some drivers to work properly. Check through the manufacturer's website.

When I try to install the Windows 10 Anniversary Upgrade on my (Lenovo) PC, I get an eror message that says my HP Pavilion w2408h Monitor driver is not compatible with Windows 10.  But I have the most up-to-date driver, and I've had Windows 10 on this system for a year (only the newst Upgrade seems to be a problem). Is HP aware of this issue? Will there be a new driver? The monitor is wonderful, and I'd hate to give it up over something like this.

A:Windows 10 Anniversaty Upgrade and w2408h Monitor

@Ed_in_LA?, welcome to the forum. Since your monitor is older, it is very unlikely that HP will provide Win 10 software and driver for it.  The reason for this is, Win 10 has many drivers built-in to it.  However, this doesn't help you since Win 10 won't install without an updated driver. Please click the Thumbs up + button if I have helped you and click Accept as Solution if your problem is solved.

A:An HD monitor issue and an ATI Radeon card upgrade question

The resolution of that monitor is 1920x1080, so check display properties or ATI Catalyst Control Center and make sure that's the setting.

Don't know much about running 2 video cards in one system, other than you'll need 2 identical cards if you want the Cross Fire functionality.

We have a Dell Latitude 3540 which used to work fine with a Dell monitor connected to the VGA out port.  Following the Windows 10 upgrade, the laptop refuses to recognise the monitor.  I have dowloaded and reinstalled the graphics drivers with no change.  Device Manager shows the yellow triangle on the display adaptor.  I have deleted the adaptor and re-installed it.  This does not work either.  Is this a case of wating for Dell to produce a updated driver?  We really need the external monitor working, so any help or recomendations will be gladly received.

A:Upgrade worth it for ATI Radeon - HD 5770 for 3 monitor setup

A newer card, especially an HD 7xxx card, will be able to use the latest drivers (12.11 Beta), but I think your 5770 should ALSO be able to do that. So, I would try using those drivers before buying a new card -- at least, to see if the drivers clear up the artifact problems.

I don't wish to waste money but am thinking perhaps it's time to change my Video card. At present I have the Radeon HD5570 1GB DDR3 which is quite a few years old, it's still working fine but I have just bought an LG23MP65HQ IPS monitor.
I have connected the monitors VGA to the DVI output on the card, there is no DVI connection on the monitor only VGA and HDMI.
Would it be an improvement to use the HDMI cable connections instead of the DVI/VGA? The manual says that the HDMI is for Digital Video and Audio but it also gives a warning 'that it can cause compatibility problem.'

If you think an upgrade is in order any suggestions? All the manufacturers reckon theirs is best so it's not easy to select one. My budget is around ?50-100.

Thanks

Alan.

So one of our Dell Latitude 3540 laptops used to work fine with an external Dell monitor prior to upgrading to Windows 10.  After the upgrade it refuses to acknowledge that a monitor is connected.  Device manager shows the display adaptor using the Microsoft driver and displays the warning triangle. When the driver update is selected, it finds a driver and starts to download it, then fails with Code 43.  I have deleted the adaptor and tried updating the driver with the same problem.  I have downloaded Dells Video drivers for this laptop and tried installing them but this seems to have no effect.  I have searched the web and found many similar problems but no solutions.  Any help is appreciated as we need the second monitor working.

Hi

My boss has asked me to write in to see if someone can help with a query.

A while ago my boss upgraded his IBM Aptiva (2140 or 2142 - he can't remember!) from Windows 95 to Windows 2000 and since then his speakers on his IBM MM55 monitor (they are attached and form part of the monitor) no longer work, eg he can no longer get sound out of them.

Apparently an IT guy told him that's to be expected and basically there is nothing he can do about it, and can find nothing about a fix on the IBM website, but finds it hard to believe that there is nothing that can be done to fix the supposed glitch.

So, in the vain hope that someone out there might be able to help him, I am writing this asking for your assistance.

Any ideas would be most gratefully appreciated.

Bye for now

Hello all,
I have a Phillips 32" LCD (model # 32TA2800/98) that I connect my laptops to with a VGA cable. I usually had my Gateway NV53A (AMD Mobility Radeon HD 4200 series Graphics card) connected and I never had a problem. Recently I connected my Samsung to the monitor and again, had no problems. When I reconnect my gateway the PC detects the monitor but the monitor does not detect the PC. If I switch back to the Samsung it works fine. I have reset the TV to factory default the only way I know how (owners manual). I have unplugged the power cable to the TV for 10 min+. I have changed from a 14 pin VGA to a 15 pin. I have updated all drivers.

PLEASE HELP ME!!!

Could it be that the TV has a capacitor that holds the settings for an extended period of time? Maybe I should leave it unplugged for 24-48 hours?

A:Playing videos on second monitor automatically plays full screen on primary monitor

Have you tried installing the lastest drivers? And is the second monitor spanned or cloned? I don't know here to tell you to look as I'm an nVidia guy...haven't used ATI in years.

Hello I basically need conformation that I'll need to buy a new monitor in order to have a dual monitor set up Dual 2nd detecting Radeon HD setup Monitor monitor 6670 not with my current system I'm not super tech savvy so if you need any other info please let me know I have a Radeon HD with ports an HMID VGA which is my monitors type and DVI Each port has a stamp next to it that indicates what port type it is supports the VGA has a CRI stamp next to it Radeon HD 6670 Dual Monitor setup not detecting 2nd monitor though My main VGA monitor works fine with the VGA CRI port but my second I have to use a VGA to DVI adapter and it's not working I've gone through a lot of forums and found some conflicting information So I really want to know is it possible Radeon HD 6670 Dual Monitor setup not detecting 2nd monitor to use a converter adapter or will I need to just go out and buy a new monitor that has a DVI hook up I hope I don't need a new monitor I'm on a very tight budget la sigh

A:Radeon HD 6670 Dual Monitor setup not detecting 2nd monitor

I would try one of these before giving up on the monitor:

Rosewill 10ft. DVI-A (24+5) Male to HD15 VGA Male Analog Video Cable w/ Ferrites Cores, Model RCW-900 - Newegg.com

Forget adapters, you might not a have a compatible one, the DVI connector has many variants.

Look at that cable end and make sure it would fit on your video card's female DVI connector (it should), it's DVI-A (analog only) to VGA which is analog only....

My laptop's monitor is broken, so I use an external monitor plugged in through an HDMI cord. I updated to Windows 10 and can't figure out how to toggle between display settings. I know you can do Windows + P and select expand, but seeing as I have a broken laptop monitor I can't do anything.

My old dell laptop L502x is a bit quirky and caused me to buy a desktop, however, i think it is still saveable. when i have it display to an external monitor via hdmi, it works 100% with no problems. however, when i use the monitor that is physically attached to the laptop, i will get a " A clock interrupt was not received on a secondary processor" BSOD. from what i've gathered over numerous crashes, i believe its a problem with the integrated graphics in the processor, since they are not used when outputting via hdmi. i could be wrong tho, any help is greatly appreciated.

Hi, I have windows home 7, home built pc with Asus motherboard. Don't ask me further spec details cuz I have no idea about most of the specs (an ex built it and can't get in control panel due to monitor issue). I just know that it's supposed to be kick-*** with a 5.8 windows score.

The PC boots fine, gives you the option to start windows normally or leave it do its' thing... but either way I try, it makes no difference to monitor.
When it boots, the monitor shows all the usual details, the bios pic, starting... and as soon as it reaches desktop point (I think), it goes black even though monitor is still powered and no errors about no signal. If I turn monitor off and on, it will quickly show me the desktop then it goes black again.

I'd appreciate any help or insight.

A:Monitor black but turning monitor off/on flashes desktop for split second

Hi, first thing I would try is to connect the PC to another monitor that is known to be in good working order. If the same problem occurs then we will know it is a problem with the PC, if it functions normally you will know it is a problem with your monitor.

I have a dell laptop that has 1920x1080 resolution. However, i connect it to an external monitor that has 1920x1200 resolution. Basically almost everything i do is on my external monitor which acts as my main primary screen. Thus i do sometimes open some windows or drag a window or so to the other screen like youtube etc to the laptop screen.
My issue at the moment is everything is way too big on the laptop screen. I want to have 1920x1080 resolution but its way too big. I googled what is my resolution on it and it shows 1536 x 864. Can someone tell me how to change this to 1920x1080?
My external monitor which is my main monitor is fine at the moment with the 1920x1200.

I've been running a multi-monitor setup for a while now with an ASUS VG QE Hz monitor as my main and one or more spare monitors as secondary displays I've set the ASUS monitor to Hz without issue in the past while the other monitors at 60Hz Dual setup 144Hz locks monitor monitor stay at Hz The other night Windows wanted to update I figured it was the usual patch session so I let it do its thing However after restarting my computer I noticed that my ASUS Dual monitor setup locks 144Hz monitor at 60Hz monitor would only operate at Hz if it was the only monitor plugged Dual monitor setup locks 144Hz monitor at 60Hz into the system When I try to set it higher in the Nvidia control panel it just reverts back to Hz after applying changes I updated my graphics drivers though I was only one version behind and even sought a special ASUS driver for the monitor to resolve the issue but nothing has helped Did Windows recently add a forced refresh rate sync between all monitors recently If so that really sucks because I only own one Hz monitor

A:Dual monitor setup locks 144Hz monitor at 60Hz

Are you sure the other monitors are independent (dual or multiple mode) rather than cloning the main monitor? If they clone the main monitor, then this explains the 60Hz refresh rate, as all settings (resolution, color depth, refresh rate) should be common for all monitors and the others can only do 60Hz.

Hi there What I want to do quot extend my desktop on a second monitor but my second monitor is compounded by HDMI TVs monitor a setup up video and Set card primary monitor in multiple and a VGA LCD stage monitor both used as Duplicate setup in Windows quot How I have done this and it works -I have diplay devices HDMI TVs that are connected using a splitter and two monitors Set up primary monitor in a multiple monitor and video card setup both on VGA -I also have two quot video cards quot GPU one Amd radeon hd with VGA DVI and HDMI ports and Intel HD onboard aprox GB with VGA output port -I have connected the TVs with a HDMI x splitter on amd radeon's HDMI port and one of my VGA monitors this one acts as a STAGE MONITOR for the singer artist lyrics -The integrated Intel HD card has my quot Control quot monitor attached that I use as my primary monitor the one that shows me the Desktop and the lyrics control application Software aspect of the problem In Windows I use my Intel HD video card as my primary display then I can extend on a second monitor the desktop The second monitor is my VGA Stage monitor The Third display that appears in the setup is the HDMI splitter this one is a Duplicate of my stage monitor I use x resolution for my primary display and x for the second monitor I know this resolution is too small for my HDMI TV's Windows recommends me a x fullHD resolution but my STAGE MONITOR does not support that much so I need to use a small resolution PROBLEM EVERY TIME I DO THIS SETTINGS EVERYTHING WORKS SUPERBLY FINE AFTER RESTART OR SHUTDOWN THE PRIMARY MONITOR SWAPS WITH THE EXTENDED AND THE DESKTOP IS SHOWN ON THE TVs AND THE STAGE MONITOR AND THE RESOLUTION OF MY PRIMARY DISPLAY JUMPS TO FULLHD AND IT SAYS quot OUT OF RANGE quot WHY HOW CAN I MAKE MY SETTING PERMANENT NOTE My BIOS setting clearly say Primary video gt Onboard And yes the startup screen and the BIOS screen only shows on my Intel HD primary monitor After Windows Starts things swap each other If I don't connect any display on my AMD Radeon PCI-Express card the screen stays on my primary monitor At some point I have observed that if the display devices are started in a sequence first the primary second the splitter and the stage monitor the settings keep on But after numerous attemps this solution became inefficient because every time I start stop the HDMI splitter array the resolution changes and the displays swap each other Is there any registry tweack that can solve this Software problem Thank you for reading

I am having troubles getting my dual monitors back.
Initially had a GeForce 8400GS 512MB PCI video card and was using the on board video (Biostar G41 M7 MB) for dual VGA monitor setup.

I've installed a Radeon HD 6670 1GB PCI-E video card with monitor one setup via DVI to VGA adapter on output one and 2nd monitor on VGA onboard video.
I cannot get the second monitor to detect in any configuration. Tried looking in BIOS of MB, using 2nd DVI (w/ vga adapter) on Radeon card.

Am at a loss and I hope I have provided enough information for some assistance.

Much appreciated

I don't understand why you are using a combination of DVI (to VGA) out of your HD6670 to one monitor, and also using the VGA out of your motherboard to the other monitor.

Am I interpreting what you've done correctly? You are using just the DVI output from your HD6670 through a DVI-to-VGA adapter and on to your first monitor, and also using the VGA output from the onboard graphics of the motherboard to feed the second monitor? If so, this is very wrong.

Your new HD6670 has TWO video outputs of its own: one is DVI, and the other is VGA. You should connect your second analog monitor to the VGA output of the HD6670, not to the onboard graphics VGA output.

Also, if you can disable the onboard graphics in the BIOS that's definitely what you should do when you install an external video card as you've done. At the very least you should give priority to the new PCIe video over PCI (which was your old GeForce card, and probably onboard graphics chip as well?), although "AUTO" might be just as acceptable. I'd still disable onboard graphics if I could.

You might have been using a combination of the old GeForce video card and onboard graphics before (did that GeForce card only have a single output?), but the new HD6670 has dual-output of its own, and that's how you should connect your two monitors... to the two outputs of the HD6670. I suspect that while your old dual-monitor setup was kind of a kluge of PCI-GeForce and PCI-onboard graphics and worked fine, the new setup involving the PCIe 2.1 HD6670 is a different beast entirely. Probably the onboard graphics output is being suppressed by the BIOS in light of the PCIe graphics card, but who knows.

Anyway the correct setup for you is to use the dual video outputs of your HD6670 to support your dual monitors. You should NOT be using onboard graphics at all, and if possible it should be disabled in the BIOS settings of your motherboard.

The ATI Catalyst drivers that manage your HD6670 are prepared to support your two monitors directly connected to the two video outputs on the HD6670 itself. The DVI->VGA adapter to one monitor, and VGA to the second monitor... this is a standard setup.

Have you installed or upgraded to the latest Catalyst drivers from the ATI/AMD support site? This is a good idea.
