Preferred Solution: Unable to configure network properties

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

i am creating a local network of just 2 PCs. 1st one is using windows 7 OS and the 2nd one is using windows 8.1 . Error i am facing is when i click on TCP/IP(v4) properties in 2nd PC(win 8.1 pc) it says that ""In order to configure TCP/IP, you
must install and enable a network adapter card.". 1st pc is working fine and showing shared drives and files in network but 2nd PC is not showing anything in network because id donot allow me to configure IP settings.
Please Note that i have also connected WiFi connection to my 2nd PC and that connection is working fine and showing all the TCP/IP Properties correctly without showing any error.
I have disabled Network adapter in Device manager and installed again but nothing happens.

I am not able to access or change my network settings.

Windows XP Home SP 3

I do the following:

Start > Control Panel > Network Connections. Right click on Local Area Connection and choose Properties.

Then get these error message

"Some of the controls on this property sheet are disabled because one or more other Network property sheets
are already open. To use these controls, close all these property sheets and then reopen this one"

Tried rebooting, tried disabling local area connection then rebooting and re-enabling still no luck.

Only other thing I can think of is that I tried VMWare (new browser version) did not like and uninstalled it.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

For diagnostics: Boot in a safe mode with networking and try if it works....Begin tapping the F8 key every few seconds as the system boots up until the screen offering the Safe Mode option appears.

This is a fairly new install of Windows 8 pro (within the last month), and while trying to set up a static ip up today I found that I was unable to access the network properties or disable the connection in the Network Connections. I am pretty stumped as I am the only user of this computer and from what I can tell have the correct permissions to do so. When trying to check the properties it tells me "an unexpected error has occurred" with no further information.

Has anyone had this problem and found a fix?

A:Unable to access properties of my network connection.

It sounds like you aren't using an Admin account on this machine.

Under Computer Management, Local Users and Groups>Users, you should see your name there, under the Member Of' Tab, you should be listed at a member of the Administrators and Home Users. You can add the credentials if you aren't.

So on windows 7 when you "Manually create a network profile" and close you can see a list of on networks via the gui and modify them as needed. However i am unable to find this on windows 8 and newer. I know the profile is there via the command
"netsh wlan show profiles" but am unable to get back into the properties in the gui.
Please advise.

in vista ultimate, i created a new user account as an administrator, logged in, and deleted the old account.
when i click on "Configure advanced user profile properties" or "Change my account variables" (under the tasks sidebar in control panel -> user accounts), nothing happens at all.
i cannot figure out any way to resolve the issue.
UAC is disabled, and the new account is an administrator.
anyone know whats going on??
thanks.

A:cannot configure advanced user profile properties...

Is the account password protected?

try this method

Click Start

type Accounts in the Start search box, and then click User Accounts under Programs.
If you are prompted for an administrator password or for a confirmation, type the password, or click Allow.
In the User Accounts dialog box, click Change my environment variables under Tasks.
Make the changes that you want to the user environment variables for your user account, and then click OK.

I am unable to configure Windows Firewall and Security Center settings on a Windows XP SP2 operating systems. Windows Firewall is disabled. I cannot use the Windows Firewall tool in Control Panel to turn on Windows Firewall or to configure Windows Firewall settings on the Windows XP SP2 computer. When I try to configure Windows Firewall settings, some options are appear dimmed, and I receive the following message: "For your security, some settings are controlled by Group Policy."

In addition, my Internet Explorer default settings are not available.
Recently I removed trojan.cachecachekit and had made the assumption this problem was caused by the trojan. System Restore is not an option because in following the Symantec instructions to remove the trojan I reset the restore date. Can you please help me get my system back to its original configuration?

Gooday all. I have a laptop set up for my entertainment area. I am using an HDMI cord from laptop to a screen and using the sound output to a set of surround sound speakers. This a pretty cheap set up,nothing fancy. I am trying to get all the speakers recognized by my Realtek Sound Management application. The Lasptop (http://speccy.piriform.com/results/J...8QITBgvOYgX6Ol) is only recognizing a 2 speaker stereo set up. How am I able to change this so as to be able to adjust settings to the 6 speakers of the system. Thanks in advance.

A:Unable to configure speakers on Laptop.

Looking at the Speccy, I don't see anything other than RealTek HD Audio. If the laptop has a RealTek HD Audio Manager, have you tried setting the speaker type there?

Aside from the audio issue, I notice you only have 2GB of RAM. The 64 bit OS does you no good with only 2GB of RAM, and can be an issue with only the 2GB which is bare minimum for a 64 bit OS. The main reason for using a 64 bit OS is to use more than 4GB of RAM, since a 32 bit OS cannot address 4 GB (or more) of RAM.

Hi, I recently purchased a pair of Corsair Vengeance 2000 wireless USB headphones. However, when I installed them and tried to use them, I came across a rather unusual problem. I couldn't test them, or set them as default device, or configure them. It's like Windows doesn't recognise them. All the drivers are installed correctly .

I have also tried them on another computer, with the same version of Windows and they worked fine, so I know that there is no problem with the headphones.

I am running RealTek HD audio just incase it is needed.
Thanks

A:Unusual problem: No sound bar for headset and unable to configure them

Sounds like they could have a corrupt status in Windows. Connect the headphones then go to the Device Manager, either the headphones will be listed in the sounds and audio devices or there will be an unknown device listed in the USB section. In either case, RIGHT click on the entry and then LEFT click"Uninstall". Then disconnect the headset and restart the PC. After Windows starts, connect them and Windows should detect and install them, like a new installation. This may take care of the problem.

After restoring my new laptop back to factory settings (to fix problem I was having with MSE), I find that I am now unable to configure my restore points. I am trying to increase the storage space so I can have several restore points. When I click 'Apply' or 'Okay' after changing the space allocation, the following error appears:

"The filename, directory name or volume label syntax is incorrect. Error 0x800707B"

The following drives appear in the Restore Config window with Restore set to 'On':

System_DRV
Windows7_OS(C:)(System)
Windows7_OS(C:)(Missing) -- this seems odd to me

For background info, I restored to factory settings and added MSE and then other programs one-by-one. After programs were re-installed, I restored my data from the previous night's backup. Everything is working fine and there are no system errors that I can see.

Would anyone have any insights on this problem?

A:Unable to configure RAID on Windows 7 Home Premium

Why do you want RAID? WIn7 doesn't much like RAID which isn't even Redundant so risks losing both HD's if one fails. Better to install to one HD and use the other for backing up an image.

If you saw one correctly-sized RAID array when you booted into the installer to try hardware RAID then the driver wasn't needed as it's only loaded when no drive shows up. Try again.

I am not sure what your question is.Do you interact with this or is it a remotely controlled client allowing the use of your computer's unused processing power by the research group? If the program stalled, you may be able to look in the task manager (ctrl/alt/del), highlight the running ap by right clicking on it, choose "go to process" , then right click on the process which will be highlighted and choose "set priority". Try elevating the priority.I suggest you write down what you did so you can reverse it if necessary. There is also a Bulletin Board for this. They might have or be able to provide specific information on the ap:http://forum.folding-community.org/There's also a wiki that may help answering questions:http://fahwiki.net/index.php/How_tos

Exactly what the title says. When i try to view properties on anything from a desktop shortcut to a disk drive the computer wont let me. No error box or anything it just wont open properties.

I found a question similar to this but the answer required some addres bar in "my computer" (eg. C:/program files/example) but I dont have that on "my computer". Is that another problem? Can it be fixed or will I have to work around it?

A:unable to view properties

Hi Nube, thats an interesting delema. I don't think I have ever heard of this occuring. Let's see if you and I can figure out whats going on here. Now if you right click on a short cut there is usually no properties to click on, but the disk drives should have a properties option. Let's see if its just the short cuts and disk drives or if it's everything. Go to start - control panel. Then click on systems icon. Click on the device manger button. Then choose something in there and right click it. See if you get a properties option there that you can open. Then let me know.

I will monitor this thread throughout the day. If you resolve this problem on your own or with the info I provided please let me know so I can move on to other issues. Also please mark this thread solved using the quick tools option located at the top of this thread.

Thank you

A couple problems:

- unable to a change the program associated with a file type (ex. the .pdf file extension is associated with Word, but the Change/Delete buttons are "grayed out" and I am unable to click on that to fix the problem.

- Cannot open an attachment from e-mails. Error message: "The document name or path is not valid. Try these suggestions. *Check the file permissions for the document or drive. *Use the File Open dialog box to access the document..." I also tried doing a right-click, Save as on the document and was still unable to open it (same message in Word).

I think that there is something messed up with the drive permissions or something in the C: drive. Does this make sense? If so, how do I check/fix it?

THANKS!

A:Cannot configure network after upgrade to XP Pro

What type of ISP do you have? Cable or DSL etc.
Try this go into control Panel > Add/remove programs > Windows Components Wizard > Network Services
That is where all your actual windows programs are.
you can see if your correct settings are there for internet connectivity.
But 1st I would try to uninstall the on board NIC in safe Mode then hopefully it won't argu with you on reboot to get the new drivers.
Also unplug the Network Cable from the back of the PC when trying to uninstall it. reset your ISP Modem.
Then make sure you have auto select in IE to detect network settings
Hope this helps

I am getting a new computer to replace my old computer.
What do I have to do with the new computer using Windows XP to connect it to the internet?
I have a Netgear Router and a Cable Connection.
Please help with specific instructions?
Many thanks

A:How to configure Network Wizard

If your router is already configured i.e if you were already using it to connect to the internet using your old PC then the process is very simple. Leave the cabling as it is except for the ethernet cable which you should now plug into your new PC as apose to your old one. If you have any MAC filtering on the router, either disable it or re-configure it to match your new machine's MAC

I'm having a lot of trouble watching videos-- they start, stop, start, stop-- always loading it seems. My internet connection is not good and that may be the problem. I'm over a mile from the very edge of the map that shows coverage for Clear.

I went into 'Local Area Connection'>Properties There it shows 'Broadband NetLink Gigabit Ethernet'. I click on 'Properties'> configure, click on 'Advanced' tab and I'm shown a list of things that have 'Value' next to the items. A lot of those things, on the list, show 'enable'--- should I enable any of them or leave them alone?

I've had something happen to my Windows XP Pro network connection properties.

No matter what I do the under the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) properties it always defaults back to Obtain an IP address automatically. I'm trying to assign a static IP.

I've been using this computer in a static IP mode for approximately 6 years. Monday all #$%^ breaks loose and I'm still trying to recover.

The registry still holds the proper information, but for some reason everytime I view it from the properties tab it's back to auto.

I have just recently acquired a brand new laptop running Windows 8, and I'm experiencing an issue with editing the details of MP3 files. I can right-click any MP3 to open its properties and access the Details tab, but when I click on the fields for the different tags, nothing happens.

I don't recall ever having this issue on my previous laptop with Windows Vista, so I'm at loss trying to understand what is going on here. I'm not very tech savvy about the subject of permissions and accessibility, but it doesn't really seem to be related to that. The files are listed under my local user directory.

How do I properly setup a Linksys wifi router to work behind a network.

what ive done so far:

1. Turned off DHCP on the wifi, since my network already has DHCP
2. Turned off NAT service on the wifi
3. Turned DHCP configuration on the wifi so that the existing network will asign IP

I can connect to WIFI but cannot get internet. At first I was able to, aftter turning it off and turning it back ON, I cant get internet. Is my configuration correct?

A:Configure Linksys Wifi behind a network

Connecting two (or more) SOHO broadband routers together.

Note: The "primary" router can be an actual router, a software gateway like Microsoft Internet Connection Sharing, or a server connection that has the capability to supply more than one IP address using DHCP server capability. No changes are made to the primary "router" configuration.

Configure the IP address of the secondary router(s) to be in the same subnet as the primary router, but out of the range of the DHCP server in the primary router. For instance DHCP server addresses 192.168.0.2 through 192.168.0.100, I'd assign the secondary router 192.168.0.254 as it's IP address, 192.168.0.253 for another router, etc.

Note: Do this first, as you will have to reboot the computer to connect to the router again for the remaining changes.

Disable the DHCP server in the secondary router.

Setup the wireless section just the way you would if it was the primary router, channels, encryption, etc. Note that you should use the same SSID and encryption key for the secondary router but a non-conflicting channel. I recommend channels 1, 6, or 11 for use for the best results.

Connect from the primary router's LAN port to one of the LAN ports on the secondary router. If there is no uplink port and neither of the routers have auto-sensing ports, use a cross-over cable. Leave the WAN port unconnected!

This procedure bypasses the routing function (NAT layer) and configures the router as a switch (or wireless access point for wireless routers).

For reference, here's a link to a Typical example config using a Netgear router

Hello!

I'm testing ethernet hardware and need to know how many packets were sent and received through 100 Mbit ethernet card. There is a window that displays status of network connection. Sometimes it shows number of bytes that were sent/received, and sometimes - number of packets. Is there a way to configure that window always to show number of packets?

A picture is included to the post to make it clear what do I mean.
There is also a command "netstat -e" callable in command line, but It shows doubled number of packets in both directions

Paul.

I would definitely go with some network monitoring software, even Microsoft has its own program (Microsoft Network Monitor, how original lol). Trying to get reliable/accurate data from that window is like trying to claim your PC's power from the Windows Experience Index.

Hi,

How do I keep 'Use windows to configure my wireless network settings' checked?

I have a wireless home network (kids computers plus my laptop) but my main desktop was wired. A couple of days ago I fitted a wireless card to the PC and now, every time I start the computer, there is no connection. What I have to do every time is check the box against 'Use windows to configure my wireless network settings'. Once this is OK'ed then the computer connects. The next time I start the computer the box has unchecked itself and I have to check it again.

As a point of interest, Wireless Zero Configuration is set to auto and is running.

I take in customer's pc's, hook them up to my router and LAN. But I always have to manually go into windows and set the network settings, such as the name of my workgroup, give the computer a static ip address, put in the dns servers, and then manually map some network drives.

I was wondeirng if there is a little disc either floppy or cd, that you can pop into the computer and this disc will run and automatically set up all the proper network settings that you configure. So I could run this disc in windows for instance, the computer will then be on my network, in my workgroup, have some drive mappings, and have a static ip address with internet access.

Is there anything like this available?

Try deleting the icons you're having trouble with and then open your START menu, go to ALL PROGRAMS, mouse over the program you're having issues with and right-click it and select SEND TO and then DESKTOP (create shortcut). All we're basically doing is creating a new shortcut to see if your previous shortcut got jacked up somehow.

Hello, I have a Windows 7 Ultimate.

Recently I have been unable to change or even access some settings on my pc. I can't access user accounts- when I click on it, nothing happens. Same with other stuff like my screen saver and sounds. This is also happening when I click on the properties of a file. I right click on the file, click properties and nothing opens. This happens with all files (folders, pictures, documents...).

I have run several antivirus scans on the computer, opened it in Safe mode, done the sfc/scan too. Nothing has appeared to be wrong apart from the above.

You should only have one anti-virus. More than one can cause them to conflict with each other.

I'm having a problem with my network connection properties window in XP. The net connection and wireless adapter (TP-LINK 802.11ac Network Adapter) work fine. When I right click on the network connection icon and select "Properties", I can see the adapter listed, but when i click the "Configure" button, the properties window just exits instead of allowing me to adjust the properties of the wireless adapter. It did work before and now it doesn't. I can still go into device manager and change the adapter settings there, just not from the network connection properties window. I'm guessing it something registry related, but not sure. Any ideas? Thanks!

A:Configure button for network adapter stopped working

Long shot that sometimes fixes oddities:Go to "Device Manager > Your Network Adapter", right click it and select Uninstall. If by any chance it asks if you want to remove Software then DON'T LET IT (probably doesn't say that in XP). Ignore other warnings. Restart computer. This procedures has simply unhooked the driver, so it will then see your adapter as new hardware and setup the software again. It might happen to get it right this time.Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

Speed issues. signal on both computers and there is hardly any interference in my apartment that I am aware of My internet bandwith is perfectly fine -Transfer rates between these two computers through a LAN connection is blazing fast Its connected at Gbps and transfer rates are around MB s -If I connect the desktop and netbook in the Ad Hoc mode I get a pretty steady MB s -In the registry I have set the NetworkThrottlingIndex to FFFFFFFF hex so throttling is essentially turned off but that makes no difference Does anyone have any ideas that could help me Thanks

A:Help me configure my WiFi network correctly please? Speed issues.

I have another question:

My netbook has Draft N wireless. I have heard that the maximum speed on that is 150Mbps. Is that for both send and receive? Also what would it be real world?

If I had a WiFi wireless N 150Mbps send/300Mbps receive card on my PC, and this draft N card on my netbook, will I have enough transfer rates to stream my BluRay discs from my PC to my Netbook? I have heard that BlurRays have a maximum bit rate of 40Mbps which means I should be totally good to go right?

If I try to access the tcp/ip settings on my vista pc, to change the DNS entry for example; I get the following error

"Some of the controls on this property sheet are disabled beacause one or more other Network property sheets are already open"

The Connect Using entry is blank and the only item listed is Client for Microsoft networks.

The Install, Uninstall and Properties button are greyed out.

If I try to access my wireless card, I get the same error.

Any suggestions, gratefully received.

Kind regards,

Guys, I am having a hard time configuring my Access point. I have a DSL Router connected to our telephone line and it works fine wirelessly, Yesterday I purchased TP LINK Router to configure as Access Point to extend wireless signal up to the second floor. Now, I am wondering, should I do some re-configuration on my DSL Router before configuring my TP Link Router? Guys, Please share your thoughts and if you have knowledge on how to configure my 2nd Router to my Wifi Networks that will help.
NOTE: I followed the user guide manual that came with my TP LINK router but it is no USE. I just need to know if should I reconfigure my 1st Router in order to communicate with my 2nd Router.

Thanks,

A:How To CONFIGURE TP LINK ROUTER as ACCESS POINT in an existing network

How are you connecting the two routers together?

An access point needs to have a static IP, and it needs to be outside of the DHCP range that your router is using. For example, if your router assigns IP addresses from 192.168.1.150 to 192.168.1.200, you need to have the access point IP address below 150 or above 200. I like to keep the access points close to the router, so I usually use 192.168.1.10 for the first access point.

What model router did you buy? TP Link makes a few, and knowing the exact model will help us help you.

Hi:
There is NO connection although Belkin Wireless Adaptor is blinking to catch signal.

Whenever there is no connection, I need to click Belkins Utility at System tray at the bottom in order to get connection, however it does not keep connected and lasts only 10-20 minutes.

Besides this, I found when I clicked, icon of Belkin > Properties > Network and found there is no 'Use Windows to configure my wireless network settings.'

How to remedy this issue?

Thanks for your help in advance.

I already have two lexmark printers X2350 (MFC) and lexmark Z735. Both work well on my network, i.e I can print on these from any computers in the house (three in all). I recently bought lexmark print server N4050e. It apparently seems to configure all right. My network can seeit and an IP address is also created in the network but the print server is not creating the port it should to connect to my printer(s).

When I use the TEST button at the back of the prinet server when connected to a any of the printers nothing much happens. No error messages are reported and the printer status windows shows the document sppoled for printing but it hangs there.

My network is based on Win XP. I have checked all firewalls to ensure nothing is being blocked at set up. any ideas or anyone had similar problems.

Many thanks

Today, I turned on my secondary laptop (which hasn't been used in months) was greeted with a start up error which ended up needing to repair the "SYSTEM" boot partition . Now I got the system running but can't get any adapters to work. When I first logged in every network adapter had code 31(could not load driver). I was able to get around that by manually uninstalling each on and letting it re-install. Now each adapter has no properties so there is no internet connection at all. I mentioned the start up problem because I am not sure if the two are related at all.

Any help would be appreciated!

I Network adapter properties could really use some help I have figured out what is causing my issue and will explain the best I can Relatively new network with wired desktop and wireless laptop through Netgear router I narrowed the issue down to Power Management of Network adapter properties the Wireless Network Adapter If the Wireless Network Adapter is set to its default properties including Power Management-- gt Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power when I fire up the laptop it connects right away but the problem is the Network Map is not correct the laptop doesn't show it's information including IPv If I manually uncheck and recheck the TCP Network adapter properties IPv box under Networking the network disconnects and reconnects and the map is good with the laptop showing its IPv address But if it goes back to sleep the next time it wakes Network adapter properties up and connects the map will be wrong So if I disable Power Management-- gt Allow this computer to turn off this device to save power the network map appears correct and the laptop shows it's IPv info problem is and it's a big one it takes one to two minutes to connect to the router So either I live with the wrong Network Map everything still is networked as I am using Homegroup or I live with a delayed connection to my wireless but the Network Map is correct This is a new laptop and I already reinstalled the Wireless Adapter there are no updates to the drivers I'm tempted to to do something related to TCP IP Perhaps reset it to default since there does seem to be some relationship to the IPv setting But I just don't know what to do at this point I'd really appreciate any help

Turn off that option to allow it to turn off the WiFi. If the system goes to sleep the WiFi will be turned off with it. If you are using the system you certainly don't want the WiFi to be turned off.

Hello EightForums administrators and other members

Today, I installed Linux Mint 13 to try some appliactions, programs and other good things.
I downloaded it normally , followed guide from this forum and after installing it I don't have network connection.

I tried with all type of network switches and activated Legacy Network Adapter but it don't work (I configured in network adapter for ex. External Network 1 , I want to say it's not say : Not Connected in VM Settings).

When I turn it Linux Mint says : Disconnected - you are now offline.

How to configure network and the Internet to work with Linux Mint VM ?

Thanks in advance and please answer soon.

I'm new to Hyper-V myself but I think there are 2 guides you should follow:

How to use (vista example):

And there is someone that manages to add network to Vista so maybe you can apply that to LMDE.

When I go to my network connections and attempt to display the properties of my dial up modem properties(my default internet connection with MSN)...so that I can enable the firewall...nothing happens. Nothing. The computer doesn't hang, no error message pops up. It just doesn't respond. I have tried several times with this problem. Has anyone seen an issue with trying to access the properties of a network share and getting absolutely nothing? Just upgraded to Win10 from 7. We are in a windows 2008 domain with 2012 and Win 10 machines.
We have regular accounts and admin accounts. The regular account can see get properties for the folders/shares that it has access to. The admin account, when run using "run as a different user" cannot generate the properties dialog box at all. This worked fine on Win 7.

If I change the folder properties accessing a shared folder (say pictures) over my home network, will it alter the folder's properties on the drive on which it resides or just the folder on the machine I am using to access the folder?

The pictures and videos folders are set to "general items", the customize tab of the properties on the folder is set to "general items" when I access it from the laptop. I have symptoms that I am having trouble getting rid All of them started Network Properties Connection Nowfind, WebSiteViewer, nights WebSiteViewer, Nowfind, Network Connection Properties ago and I have been trying to get rid of them since then First of all I have something called WebSiteViewer that keeps coming back even after it appears that it has been removed I have read WebSiteViewer, Nowfind, Network Connection Properties other logs on this forum about it and I have tried some of the advice but with no avail Second when I open a web browser it is going WebSiteViewer, Nowfind, Network Connection Properties to www nowfind net Third if I click on my Wireless Network Connection properties the window disappers without opening the properties So for so more detailed information on what I know about what is going on The WebSiteViewer has installed in C Program Files WebSiteViewer There are five files in that directory ban dd dlr exe and ico There is also a shortcut on my desktop and a shortcut on my Start Menu for the exe There is also a misb exe file in my root directory C that I believe is related as it has the same icon There is a process with an image name of dlr running I started out by manually deleting all of this stuff and manually shutting down the process I have also tried Spybot and Adware Both of these programs also found the WebSiteViewer stuff listed above as well as a few registry keys dealing with them They both seemed to remove everything however after a reboot everything comes back So somewhere there is something still living that reinstalls everything once I reboot The www nowfind net problem I initially tried just setting my default URL back to blank as I had it Which it accepts but then the next time I open a browser it is back If I type a URL without the preceding http then it automatically goes to www nowfind net however if I fully qualify the URL with http then it goes where I expect In the registry for HCU and HLM under Microsoft- gt Internet Explorer there are a number of entries that have the www nowfind net URL including Search and SearchURL Then under Main still under Internet Explorer there are Default Page URL Default Search URL Search Bar Search Page and Start Page And then under Search in CustomizeSearch and SearchAssistant I have tried deleting all of these registry entries manually However they come right back even without a reboot I can delete them then just refresh and they are right back So here again something is running that puts them back If I view my available Wireless Network Connections then hit the advanced tab then select my network and hit configure or properties then the window just disappears instead of opening the properties The last thing that I should mention is that I have also run CWShredder and TrendMicros virus scan the web version that is available from a link that I found somewhere in thisforum I am running XP and I also am running an outdated version of McAfee that came free on my computer Now I have never run HijackThis before I simply downloaded it and ran it I ran it while all of symptoms above were present as I stated AdWare and Spybot will remove the WebSiteViewer comes back after a reboot and the www nowfind net comes back right away I also read somewhere on the forum to use the KRC HijackThisAnalyzer so here is the result txt from it Log was analyzed using KRC HijackThis Analyzer - Updated on Get updates at http www greyknight com download htm programs Security Programs Detected c PROGRA mcafee com vso mcvsrte exe c PROGRA mcafee com vso mcshield exe C PROGRA mcafee com agent mcagent exe C PROGRA mcafee com vso mcvsshld exe O - HKLM Run MCAgentExe c PROGRA mcafee com agent mcagent exe O - HKLM Run MCUpdateExe C PROGRA mcafee com agent mcupdate exe O - HKLM Run VirusScan Online quot c PROGRA mcafee com vso mcvsshld exe quot O - HKLM Run VSOCheckTask quot c PROGRA mcafee com vso mcmnhdlr exe quot checktask O - Service McAfee com McShield McShield - Unknown owner - c... The wireless network properties box is missing. I have a Satellite pro 4600 with Linksys card for wireless and every thing worked once before. I replaced the hard drive with a new one and rebuilt the system. After installing the Cisco PEAP supplicant software to be able to logon at the college the box is now missing. I've tracked the problem to the PEAP software overwriting files on Win2000 sp4.
Or so the masters at M/S claim. Their advice was to reinstall Sp4. This didn't work. All of the information I have for configuring wireless cards for Win2000 show this box and it was there the firt time I set up the system. I have reformatted the hard drive twice then Installed Win2000 pro and the Sp3 and Sp4 using two different Install cds. I did not install the PEAP supplicant and still no box.

Thanks Rezehk

Did you install ALL the motherboard drivers for the system?

HI all am trying to change the ip address manually. to unbrick my router. so I go to my network and click properties to change the tcp ect. and the famous Unexpected error accured pops up. I try all the regsvr32 ect. stuff and nothing works. I have windows 8 pro. those anyone know how to fix this?

A:An Unexpected error accured Network properties

Is it really bricked or is it in limbo? I had one I thought was bricked, turns out i just had to wait it out to finish the firmware upgrade.

What model router is it?

Were you trying to install DD-WRT?

if you think that its just a configuration problem, then go to device manager and uninstall your network driver, then click on the action tab on top and click scan for hardware changes, and let windows reinstall them in their default settings. Now try your custom IP.

Did you do the 30-30-30 reset? (press and hold the reset button for 30 secs, unplug router, wait 30 secs, plug router in while still holding the reset, then after 30 more secs, release the reset.) Do not release the reset at any time, til the end.

If it has not completed the firmware upgrade then do not do the 30-30-30 reset until its done..

Brooklyn!
