Is this Realtek wireless adapter really a 300Mbps device?

Q: Is this Realtek wireless adapter really a 300Mbps device?

I bought a cheap, unbranded wireless adapter off the net, the chipset for which is REALTEK 8191.

The specification states - Data Rate: 802.11n up to 300Mbps (downlink) and 150Mbps (uplink).

Whenever I look at the status of the device, it either reports a speed of (more often than not) 135Mbps, or occasionally 150Mbps; yet a Netgear WNA3100 adapter that I have can report speeds of up to ~280Mbps when connected.

Is it likely that this Realtek adapter isn't really a 300Mbps device?

Thanks for your thoughts.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Manufacturers can play a lot of games with performance specifications. They specify 300Mbps but that would be achievable only under ideal conditions not normally seen in the real world. And as this is a cheap unit the specification may be highly optimistic.

Somebody please help me
I was uninstalling some program's that I didn't need and I accidentally deleted the Realtek wireless adapter and now my laptop won't detect any networks.
Is there anyway I can fix this without using the internet because I do not have an Ethernet cable. This is really urgent since I need this laptop for school

A:Uninstalled Realtek wireless adapter- HP

Do a System Restore to a time before you did this.
If that doesn't work, Go to Search and type devmgmt.msc, Right click the devmgmt results and Run As Administrator. In the Elevated Device Manager, Expand Network Adapters. If you see your wireless adapter with a yellow flag, Right click it and choose Update Driver. Click Browse My Computer, then Let Me Pick from a list of drivers. This should list your Realtek driver, select it and choose Next.

I bought my notebook with Windows 8.1 loaded on it. I recently upgraded it to Windows 10, and started experiencing dropped wi-fi connections after that. The wi-fi connection can't remain stable even for a couple of minutes. I have installed the latest driver for the Realtek RTL8188EE 802.11 bgn adapter my notebook has, but it didn't help. I was thinking of going back to Windows 8.1, which didn't have this issue, but learned that the option to go back to Windows 8.1 expires 28 days after the upgrade to Windows 10. I am already out of that time period. Not sure what to do now. Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

Hi,

I recently experienced a problem connecting to the internet with my Toshiba A-215 S7413 Laptop. I am able to see the wireless signals that are available but when I try to connect to the one I usually use it says "windows was unable to connect to dlink". I never did anything out of the ordinary, it just stopped connecting for some reason.

I have tried connecting to the same wireless with my other laptops and they do it without any problems at all. Are there any solutions to this problem or do I just need to buy another wireless adapter ? I provided a few screenshots 1 is the device manager and the 2nd one is for the ipconfig/all.

I have exhausted all search on this fix and I really hope you guys can help me through this.

Thanks

Hi. Often, not always, when I plug in a USB device to one of the external USB ports on my desktop, my (already plugged in, and working) USB wireless adapter stops working. I lose my wireless Internet connection, and I have to reset it - either manually by unplugging it and re-inserting it, or via Windows' troubleshooting wizard. Is there either a way to stop this from happening completely (preferred, of course), or is there at least a quicker way of resetting it - like a quick program on the desktop I can run - I can even code it in Visual Studio (2013) if needed). I'm assuming that the USB ports are somehow shared and conflicting? FWIW, I have 6 USB ports on the back of the machine, plus a single one on the front access panel. Win 7 Ultimate x86, 3 Gig, no errors/conflicts under Device Manager\USB controllers. Any help is appreciated. Further info upon request....

A:Wireless adapter needs resetting when I plug in a USB device

Hello JDGiants. Welcome to the forum.

Does this behavior happen no matter what port you plug the USB stick into? Even the one on the front access panel?

If this were a power problem then it would make sense that it occurs when two or more devices are drawing power from one USB controller on the motherboard.
USB2.0 can have up to 4 ports on one controller, so I'm guessing that at least 2 ports in the back are on a separate controller. By trying the wireless device in all the different ports you may be able to come up with a pattern.

You might also try experimenting with the keyboard and mouse disconnected. Report back what you find.

On the laptop, find the folder in the applicable program files area
Belkin\USB F5D7050\Wireless Utility\Win7_32 (probably Win7_64 for you)

Double click on InstallDriver.exe and see if that works for you.

I'm a beginner in Networking and I can't find my wireless adapter in Device Manager.
I was able to detect wireless connectivity yesterday. After we replaced our router, my laptop says my wireless adapter is disabled.

I am unable to find the "Manage wireless networks" in Open Network and Sharing Center.
My Fn+F2 buttons used to enable and disable wireless is not working either. I tried setting up our previous router but it still won't work.

I am using Windows 7. Gateway NV59C.

Thank you very much for your help!

So I reinstalled Windows on my laptop last night using the Samsung recovery disc that came with it because I recently had problems getting it to start. But now that I did that the device manager on the computer can't detect either my wireless or ethernet adapters.

I don't know how to fix this problem and I really hope someone here can help

I have a Toshiba Satellite L645D-S4056 which has an internal wireless adapter and no physical swicth to turn it on/off. only by pressing fn key and F8. So the only way the laptop recognizes the wireless adapter is if I plug in the power cord, turn it off while power cord is plugged in. Before turning it on I have to unplug to power cord and then power the laptop on. That seems to be the only way the wireless adapter gets even recognized by system. Its not even in device manager. Only when I do the above procedure (which doesn't always work) is when i can connect to the internet (wifi). After wifi is connected I can connect the power cord and it functions good. ethernet port works fine. need some help(oh and i did a system restore to a previous time when it was working properly but that didnt help) Thanks in advance

A:laptop wireless adapter dissapears from device manager..... sometimes

Hi

Some laptops have a menu option in BIOS to disable WIFI and Bluetooth switches. I am not sure about Toshiba but you can give it a try.  Usually Toshiba Laptops are installed with a 'Config free utility' which is used to configure network devices. Try uninstall it and re install the latest version downloaded from the Toshiba site.

If that didn't helps try the following steps.

1.  Go to Device Manager, double click on Network  Adapters, right click on  your WIRELESS adapter, click on Power Management tab and uncheck the box that says "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" and click OK.

2.  Click on the Battery Icon in the System Tray, click on More Power Options, set your Power Plan to High Performance.

Hi. I am having a major issue with my Acer Z1801 all-in-one desktop. All of a sudden wireless connectivity dropped out, and wireless adapter has disappeared entirely from the device manager. Network troubleshooting doesn't give me an option for wireless connection, so no selection to enable it. WLAN card is a Raling RT3090 according to the label on the computer. There doesn't appear to be an easy way to open the casing to reset the card. I've reset recommended BIOS to no effect. I've reinstalled drivers to no effect. Running Windows 7 Home Premium. Anyone have any ideas or suggestions?

Hey hubi , I'd suggest you to go to "Device manager" > click on "Network Adapters >Action>Add legacy hardware.
OR
Download "SlimDriver" that will check and automatically download the removed driver, let me know ...

Hi, I've had a Lenovo G510  for about 18 mths. Not used wifi yet as I have a wired connection in my house. Decided to check out the wifi today but I can't find a way to turn it on and I can't find any wireless device listed in Device Manager. All I have under "Network adapters" - are: Qualcomm Atheros AR8172/8176/8178 PCI-E Fast Ethernet Controller Also no "Other Devices" or Unknown devices listed either. I've tried scanning for hardware changes but no luck. Why can't windows find the wireless card? It was advertised as coming with a built-in 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi adapter. I'm on Windows 8.1. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

A:Wireless Network Adapter Is Missing From Device Manager

The wireless adapter does not appear under Network Adapters in Device Manager and there are no warnings or errors anywhere in Device Manager, right?

Check in you BIOS (Setup) to see if it somehow got disabled there.

If you can access the adapter through a cover on the bottom of the laptop remove and carefully and firmly reinsert the card three or four times (this will usually wipe any possible corrosion off the contacts).

I uninstalled my wireless adapter due to a very minor problem (which I wish I had ignored).  Now when I try to reinstall I get a "Data is Invalid" error.  Also, the program claims it cannot see the hardware, but Windows definitely does see it.

I also noticed that my Device Manager now comes up blank.  It show absolutely no devices.

Please help.  I am using Windows Vista (32 bit).

Hi,

I'm running Windows 7 and uninstalled the driver for my wireless network adapter (Atheros AR9285) because it wasn't working properly. Now, the adapter won't work AT ALL. I updated the driver via ethernet, and Device Manager says that the adapter is working fine, however Windows is acting like I don't even have a wireless adapter. What's do I do?!

How did you update the driver? Did you get it from the manufacturer? Other sources should not be trusted.

I recently moved my computer away from my router to a different room. So I bought myself a wireless adapter, a D-Link DWA-160 wireless adapter. I installed the drivers with the CD and followed the instructions. At the end of the installation it gave me this: http://img401.imageshack.us/img401/9991/82056551.png I have re-installed many times trying different methods, but nothing seems to work.

In device manager it shows that the device is installed and working properly. Yet it does not make it actually work. The light on the adapter will not flash like it does for my laptop (tested). And I am unable to even run the Wireless Connection Manager from D-Link, i just double click and nothing happens. Here is another screenshot with more information:http://img267.imageshack.us/img267/2796/37819057.png

So what exactly is the problem? If anyone can help me out I will owe you big time and appreciate it to no end, thank you!

Hi all Firstly kudos to the mods and active tech members who have made non-IT professionals lives so easier Thank you and hats off to you all I have seen other related solved topics here but my case is a bit different I guess - as I have tried and tested those I have a Toshiba satellite A series laptop GHz duo core GB RAM HDD and I ve been using Microsoft Windows Vista Business Edition for over years and very seldom I had problems except for viruses of course I have Microsoft security essentials installed and I know that s not the best in the business list Wireless from Device adapter missing network Manger's in terms of protection But off late I have noticed that my in-built firewall and defender wouldn t get started -I am using my friend s laptop will post the exact message next time I come here Okay yesterday I used my laptop in a bus with wifi on it After reaching home I found myself Wireless network adapter missing from Device Manger's list unable to connect to the internet through wifi the wifi network list was just blank When I checked the device manager gt network gt I could only find ethernet there - gt no wireless adapter Though it connects to the internet via the ethernet cable So is it due to viruses and or corrupt registry I use cc cleaner for system optimisation free disc s space - as you might know in Windows Vista the free space in c drive mysteriously gets reduced everyday the laptop is turned on - I saw in Microsoft s website that using such cleaning tools actually harms more than anything else May be my system s registry has gone haywire and so is the wifi adapter I Wireless network adapter missing from Device Manger's list have seen other related posts here and I want to kindly let you know that I am not a beginner - I ve been using computers for about years now and have more than a basic knowledge about it So please expect me to have tried basic things like - reinstalling the device driver checking if the switch is on and so forth My question is - has the time come when I started considering formatting my system and re-install a fresh copy of windows vista ofcourse as my hardware is a bit too old to support newer OSs Or is it the hardware problem How do we know that the concerned hardware is dead now Do I format the system or just buy an external USB wifi device Also if I may ask - do I have to buy a new copy of windows or would the previous license key work Many many thanks in anticipation Cheers nbsp

Hi Tech support,

I've recently installed Windows Vista x64 on my machine and used my motherboards built-in wireless connection to connect to my flat's wireless router. Everything worked fine until I noticed that whenever I remove a USB device from my front panel (USB Stick, MP3 Player) the wireless suddenly loses it's connection with the router, and the only thing I've found to fix things is a restart of my PC.
I also have a Laptop running a 32-bit version of Vista, and after trying it there it seems to have exactly the same problem.
Any ideas what's causing this, or better still how to fix it?

I am having the same problem for all my 5 computers.
They all have the same specs except for hard drive / disc drives and graphics card.

My temporary fix:
GUI:
Start Orb > Control Panel > View network status and tasks > Manage network connections > Select "Wireless Network Connection" > Disable this network device > Enable this network device

Command Line:

Code:
netsh interface set interface "Wireless Network Connection" DISABLE
netsh interface set interface "Wireless Network Connection" ENABLE
It's still not the solution to the problem, but it works when I need it. It does get annoying when I have to use USB devices and the Internet at the same time, though. This is why I want a solution to this problem.

I recently built a new computer, I was using a basic 160gb hard drive and everything was working fine - when I got paid I went out and bought a 1tb Samsung hard drive and I'm now having problems with my ethernet adapter (Realtek RTL8168/8111 PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet NIC) when I try to update the drivers (even though I already installed the driver disc) I get the following error: "The Realtek RTL8168/8111 PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet NIC adapter is experiencing driver- or hardware related problems", meaning I have no Internet access :/

Any ideas?

Good evening, I am having problems with my Probook 455 G2. The wireless adaptor has suddenly stopped working. I have tried updating drivers and rolling back but to no avail. I keep the laptop updated all the time, running updates everyday. From what i have read it could be a hardware problem and may need a new card. Seeing as I still have over a years warranty left how do i go about getting a replacment card? Thanks.

Is there a way to delete "failed install of updates"
I have the most updated version of the driver.
it installed a few times B4; now it won't, error code states already installed or not compatible

A:realtek network adapter update

I understand you want clear update history relate to exactly failed installed...I prefer to clear whole update history ...it is much simple. As far as I know update history is stored in C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\DataStore

Stop for the moment Windows Update service ,delete folder C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution and run again Windows Update

Helllo,

Am running Win7 Pro on a Gigabyte GA-EG45M-UD2H motherboard with integrated Realtek RTL8111DL gigabit ethernet adapter.

Occasionally after walking from sleep I will not that the netork icon in the tray has a red cross through it with no internet access. Going into display manager shows no Network Adapter as if it just disappeared.

Rebooting restores the missing adapter and internet access.

Just wondering if there is a fix for this behavior? Note that it doesn't always do this after waking from sleep - only occasionally.

Thanks for any suggestions!

Hi and welcome

Pretty sure the problem stems from the 'wake on lan' and 'keep lan alive' settings int the device
one way you can check is to type ipconfig /flushdns and ipconfig /renew the next time it happens.
If it fixrs it then those settings are the culprit. they both can be modified in the properies of the device

Hope this helps and let us know if you need help with any of this

A:troubles with my Realtek WLAN/BlueTooth adapter

"Anyone any idea how to install the drivers mentioned above? As Windows Update does not 'see' them."
It does not see them because that is your list of hidden updates. You can simply check the ones you want to go thru and the next Windows Update will see them but auto install, so be careful if you don't actually want them.

"I am having troubles with my Realtek WLAN/BlueTooth adapter, so I would like to try a driver update."
Best thing to do and not screw up the list of Hidden Updates you already have, is go to Device Manager (Win+X), expand Bluetooth to see installed drivers. Then r-click the driver/Update Driver Software/Search automatically ... If there is a newer one, it will auto install. Test, if not happy roll back by doing same steps except click Properties and use roll back option. Good Luck

My netbook all of the sudden stopped connecting to the internet, after trying the network it would say that it could not connect. I restarted and now no networks appeared. I ran Windows Network Diagnostis and it found this problem: "The Realtek RTL8723BE 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi Adapter adapter is experiencing driver- or hardware- related problems Not Fixed" I did some research and downloaded and installed a new driver from this link: http://h20564.www2.hp.com/hpsc/swd/public/detail?swItemId=ob_147415_1  The network names came back, but when I tried to connect I again was told I could not connect. I restarted and the networks no longer appeared and Windows Network Diagnostics gave me the same error it had before.

I have been having the same problem with Realtek not detected but noticed that when I put the laptop to sleep and wake it up again, the Realtek icon appears.

It has been working for the past few months but during my recent trip away to another country, the network adapter failed. A code 12 error message popped up and I wasn't able to connect to the internet through cable anymore, though my wireless is still working.

Service support from Samsung was requested for twice on the same matter, one during the first encounter and another when the error Code 12 appeared. The first time after noticing that waking up the laptop activated Realtek, I have not visited the manufacturer for the problem as it seems to be working alright after that. Second time though, Samsung tech service deleted Realtek from my laptop and said he couldn't help but advised me to visit their manufacturer.

Now I ended up not having a Realtek on my laptop and can only use wireless network to connect to the internet.

I need help on this as haven't been able to find any useful topic on any forum about how to solve this problem.

I am using Samsung Series 5 laptop.

I noticed something from TP-Link brand, but someone mentioned they used a Realtek Chipset.

Windows 8.1 does a good job of finding drivers for Realtek devices.May I suggest you just get another adapter. You can now buy recent Realtek models for less than $20 from many sources. And they come with up to dare driver disc.

I have a printer (with wireless capability) wired to desktop (Windows XP) and a wireless laptop (Windows 7). My question is, can the printer be connected wirelessly to the laptop as well as wired to the desktop, or does everything have to be wireless?
Another question: If I want to share files between the two computers, do they both have to be the same operating system? (one is Windows XP and the other is Windows 7)

A:Solved: Wireless Laptop/Wireless Desktop (via wireless adapter)/ printer

I would guess that the printer can be connected by ethernet and wireless, but I've never had one with both capabilities so I don't really know.

I once had a printer that worked OK connected to a network plus connected to another computer by USB. Even so, that may depend on the particular printer.

There may be two operating systems that cannot file share with each other but I don't know which ones that might be. Windows XP and 7 are fine sharing with each other (but not claiming that nobody has had any problems).

It sounds as if it could be a Windows update issue which caused the problem.  You should read the folowing thread about an almost identical issue with the same network adapter as yours at the Miccrosoft Communities forum.http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_10-hardware/driver-update-for-realtek-rtl81... It could also be a network adapter hardware failure. Have you tried running the PC UEFI Hardware diagnostics component test to see if the test recognizes the device as being present?   Is your notebook still in warranty?Check your warranty status Here.

Hey everyone On Thursday I received my copy of Windows Home Premium I skipped the Vista bandwagon so I Realtek onboard issue High latency adapter was moving directly from Windows XP Service Pack -bit to Windows Home Premium I opted to install the -bit version of Windows as I had no issues when running the -bit beta As it turns out I seem to have encountered an issue with my network adapter on Windows Using any speed test site such as speedtest net I get an extremely high ping ms I have tested another machine behind my router running Windows XP and there is no problem Also on the speed io website which tests connections per minute I can only get around on Windows whereas I could get on Windows XP with the same hardware Strangely in games like Counter-Strike Source my ping is normal and in the - range on most nearby servers Also when running the ping High latency issue onboard Realtek adapter command from the command prompt most servers return a result lower than ms which is also normal So I don't understand why on speedtest net pingtest net and dslreport's flash speed test I get a ridiculous ping time of ms Web browsing does seem to be slow as well as images take longer to load then they should I'm not sure whether this is a driver issue or what I have tried disabling both my firewall and AV software so they are not at fault I've tried different version of the drivers for my NIC One from the Gigabyte website and two from Realtek's website they released an updated version yesterday My motherboard is High latency issue onboard Realtek adapter a Gigabyte GA-EP -UD R rev I have all of my system specs listed on my profile if anyone needs to know more I'd appreciate any help or ideas from anyone I tried posting this on a different forum and didn't get any responses maybe this one will be different While it's not a huge issue web browsing does seem to be slower than it should because of the increased latency I just can't figure out why it doesn't affect games traceroutes etc Just to make clear The high latency issue has been tested and occurs on the latest Mozilla Firefox Google Chrome and Internet Explorer - although on Google Chrome the latency is around - ms - a little less than Firefox I tried these tests with AV and firewall software disabled as well no effect Also my desktop is connected with a lt ft ethernet cable directly to my router The router is NOT the issue I was having no problems on Windows XP SP -bit Ignore the variation in speedtest results - it's a result of my ISP's PowerBoost technology - my actual bandwidth package is Mbps Mbps Also a wireless Windows XP SP machine gets better connections per minute on speed io - Why is this Ping to yahoo com ping yahoo com Pinging yahoo com with bytes of data Reply from bytes time ms TTL Reply from bytes time ms TTL Reply from bytes time ms TTL Reply from bytes time ms TTL Ping statistics for Packets Sent Received Lost loss Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds Minimum ms Maximum ms Average ms Traceroute to yahoo com Tracing route to yahoo com over a maximum of hops ms lt ms lt ms unknown ms ms ms ms ms ms ms ms ms - - - dia static qwest net ms ms ms jfk-core- inet qwest net ms ms ms jfk-brdr- inet qwest net ms ms ms ms Vlan icore AEQ-Ashburn as net ms ms ms if- - - - core AEQ-Ashburn as net ms ms ms if- - - - core DTX-Dallas as net ms ms ms ix- - core DTX-Dallas as net ms ms ms ae -p msr mud yahoo com ms ms ms te- - fab -a-gdc mud yahoo com ms ms ms UNKNOWN- - - - yahoo com ms ms ms b www vip mud yahoo com Trace complete

A:High latency issue onboard Realtek adapter

I have encountered issues from speed test sites. Such as high ping. It is something I have grown used to. Mainly its just the speed you have to worry about for the most part. You can try to disable ip/v6. you wont need it unless your connected directly to the internet.

I purchased a Realtek 8188CU USB WiFi adapter
It is identical to this one, just without the antennae.

I think I'm running into a driver issue with this. The speeds on it are horrible despite full signal strength.
I have a linksys WUSB54GS adapter and it works fine. I am getting speedtest speeds of 13mb down/ 5mb up with the Linksys adapter

The Realtek 8188CU adapter on the other hand is getting speeds of 3.5mb down and 5.9mb up

I went to the realtek website and there is no 8188CU driver listed. I have tried multiple drivers including the one that came witth he device, the 8192SE driver and the 8188CUS driver. All of them give me the same result. The ping times are about the same in the mid 20's for both adapters.

Does anyone have any input?

A:Realtek 8188CU USB WiFi Adapter slow speeds

you may want to remove all the old drivers and try again

what windows version do you have?
this has worked today with another driver issue not loading
http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/remove-old-drivers-after-upgrading-to-new-hardware/
BUT
before you do that - it maybe worth checking the drivers

lets see what the device thinks it is - do the following
------------------------------------------------------------------------
How to identify hardware in Device Manager

right click on the device with a yellow!

from the menu choose
properties
Click on the Details Tab
Under the Property - drop down
Select hardware ids
Right click and select all
Then right click again and select copy
Copy and paste that information here

You should see a code similar to this

PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_008A&SUBSYS_53058086&REV_34

please reply with the full code for your device(s)

The portion of the code highlighted in RED is the Vendor ID and the portion highlighted in GREEN is the Device ID. In this example:

PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_008A&SUBSYS_53058086&REV_34

Vendor ID = 8086
Device ID = 008A

Post back those two numbers make sure we know which is vendor ID and which is device ID

These codes can be looked up at this site http://www.pcidatabase.com/

As an example the link for that database tells us that;
Vendor ID code 8086 is for this vendor - Intel Corporation
Device ID code 008A is for this device - Intel Centrino Wireless-N1030

Hello, this problem has really confuzzled me. I have just bought a new wireless USB adapter, ran it through the setup entered the password etc. Fine. Nicely connects to the router everytime (well ok most the time). But it cant seem to find the internet, which i know is there because my house mate has no problems with it. I've read quite a few complaints about this adapter. Is it worth just returning it and trying a different one? Or does anyone have any ideas?

It finds the submask, ip address, sets a channel automatically. One thing i noticed though is it doesnt create a gateway. (i asume cos i cant find the net). I did have internet before but they were wired. I've since then disabled the normal ethernet adapter and disabled the old connections. So i dont think theres anything conflicting.

Please help?!!
Thank you in advance i really appreciate it.

A:Belkin Wireless adapter - can connect to the adapter, but not the internet!!!

I'm going to guess that the IP address that it finds is 169.254.x.x and the subnet mask is 255.255.0.0, right? It's really NOT connecting to the router, which is why you don't have a Default Gateway or DNS servers.

You don't have to disable the wired interface to connect wirelessly, there's no conflict.

I'd suggest you first disable the encryption and see if it connects. If it does, then you need to make sure you enter matching passwords for the encryption on each end. Note that for WEP you should ONLY use the HEX password, do not use the passcode option.
Please supply the following info, exact make and models of the equipment please.

The name of your ISP and country of residence.
Make/model of the broadband modem. If dial-up, please specify.
Make/model of the router (if any).
Connection type, wired, wireless.
If wireless, encryption used, (WEP, WPA, WPA2, etc.)
Make/model of network card or wireless adapter.
Make/model of your computer (motherboard if home-built).
Version and patch level of Windows on all affected machines, i.e. XP-Home (or XP-Pro), SP2.

Without system specs, can't really say what is happening.

What RealTek did you install? The PC Vendor (or motherboard vendor for a custom built) drivers or the generic drivers from RealTek?

The Windows standard, I assume HD Audio Codec, says the driver wasn't really installed or correctly.

I encountered some sound problem and then I uninstall the Realtek HD Audio from Add/Remove Programs. It requires to restart the computer so I restart my computer. After that I can't install again the driver & the program. BTW, I have Windows XP SP3 in my computer.

A:Realtek HD Audio device

It's a version mismatch in the driver.
A hotfix specific to Sp3, for the HD Audio driver, will be made available after XP SP3 releases.

For my laptop, the speed was 300Mbps few days before but it changed to 54Mbps last night. I did not change any settings for my router and adapter and the only software I installed during this period is Windows update of March. I found the client monitor in router's setup page displays 802.11n is disabled. So what are the reasons?

Thanks in advance.

P.S. I've got the adapter driver to be the latest one.

A:hp pavilion g6-2260us and TWC Maxx 300mbps

Hello, your model HP Pavilion g6-2260us do not have gigabit ethernet controler but only 10/100BASE-T Ethernet LAN (RJ-45 connector), you can check spec of your unit on  http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03595184Network controler is tight with unit systemboard so it is not exchangeable. If you are looking for faster connection then you will need to purchase external USB network adapter.
