I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello and welcome M3 I see you have been waiting for some time now so just to start the ball rolling mate have you checked in the Device Manager for any anomalies ie yellow triangles alongside the adaptors etc?
It might be worth trying to update them anyway see this so that we know what the adaptor's are

Using HW Info general components

DownloadHW Info and pick the right bit version - HWiNFO, HWiNFO32/64 - Download - (copy andpaste this site into the search bar) If you do not need the running informationin the smaller right hand panel close it. In the left hand window click on the+ for the individual device groupings and they will open out to the variouscomponents.

Go onopening out further until you get to the device itself. click on it and it willhighlight. In the right hand window there will be a very detailed descriptionof that device as in brand, speeds model number etc etc These are very detailedand are just what is needed for searching for drivers etc.
Seemy pic for an example - in this I have opened out one my components and then highlighted one of the one you need andyou can see the detail (mine is the adaptor in this machine

Hello all, I just bought a new computer and it connected to the internet fine. Today, right after an update from Asus Live Update, my internet stopped working. It says the wifi is connected but when I open a browser and search it says no internet. I went into control panel and clicked on the network and it say Ipv4 connected, but then it says ipv6 no network access.
Also, for some reason I can ping google from the command prompt and windows update works. It's just not letting browse in IE or Chrome.
All other devices connected to my network are working fine.
I have no idea what to try at this point, I've checked a ton of other threads and websites but no successful results.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

cheers,
Phil

Welcome to the forum. Ip6 isn't used so you can disable that check your browser to see if it's set to use a proxy which it shouldn't have failing that it could be firewall or antivirus stopping it. What was the update for?

Hello, today I woke up and there was no Internet on my computer. I have had this happen to me before so I did the usual, restart and reboot but it didn't work. So I have been researching on my phone for 3 hours now and nothing has helped me fix this. It will switch from " No network access" and "no Internet access" every couple seconds. Anyone know what the problem is?

A:LAN Connection Problems ( Ipv4 and Ipv6: No Internet/Network Access)

Power down your Modem, Router, and PC. Then power up your DSL or Cable modem and let it run for few minutes. Then power up your router and let it run for a few minutes. Finally power up your PC and see if you have Internet access.

Copy and paste these lines in Notepad:

@Echo on
pushd\windows\system32\drivers\etc

The network adapter "Local Area Connection" is not correctly configured to use the IP protocol

The network adapter "Nvidia Networking Controller" is experiencing driver or hardware related issues.

Make sure your Internet Protocol Bindings are corrext
ensure that "Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)" and "Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6)" are selected in teh configuration for the network adapter "Local Area Connection"

I checked the network adapter drivers and it said they were up-to-date.

I also did the protocol bindings check thing and they were both checked.

Any help? Operating system windows vista 32-bit.

All of a sudden I cannot connect to the internet on my laptop using the ethernet or wireless. My desktop computer is fine.

It says that there is no connection on ipv4 and ipv6 and that my connection is limited (even though there is no connection.

I have followed everything I could in the following thread with no improvements.

http://forums.techguy.org/networking/886409-connected-limited-access-but-no.html

I am on Vista and have had no problems with connectivity until today.

Is there any way someone could help me? Thanks.

Hi,

Suddenly I cannot connect to the internet from my PC. This post is from my laptop, which is connecting to the internet fine.

The diagnosis I run via Vista states that I should check that IPV4 and IPV6 are both enabled and in one of the wireless connection screens, these are both enabled checked.

However, in another screen in the network connection settings (status I believe), it says IPV64 Not Connected and IPV6 Not Connected.

One of the diagnosis suggestions was to check whether the network adapter is working fine. I went into Device Manager, checked the newtork adapter and all other related devices, and these were reported as working fine.

I have a wireless connection and I couldn't even get into a local IP for the router settings (but I could from this laptop). No packets are being sent or recieved.

Any ideas what is up?

Thanks

A:IPV4 and IPIPV4 and IPV6 Not Connected can't connect to the internet

IPv6 is rarely connected, and usually I disable it. Can you connect using a wired connection?

Let's see this for that machine.

Hold the Windows key and press R, then type CMD to open a command prompt:

In the command prompt window that opens, type type the following command:

Note that there is a space before the /ALL, but there is NOT a space after the / in the following command.

IPCONFIG /ALL

Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter to copy the contents to the clipboard.
Paste the results in a message here.

If you are on a machine with no network connection, use a floppy, USB disk, or a CD-RW disk to transfer a text file with the information to allow pasting it here.

A:IPV4 an IPV6 No Network Access

From what I see here you have both connections working at the same time. Windows 7 will use the wired connection if both wired and wireless are connected at the same time so disconnecting, disabling or unplugging your wired connection should help get the wireless connection working.

Does it say Unidentified Network? Your bluetooth device might also be causing problem so you might try disabling it as well.
It might help me if I could see your ipconfig /all with the wired connection disabled.

Hi.

I hope I am posting in the correct place, I am a new member.

When I connect to the internet I keep getting the message "no network access"

And when I click properties I see the following:

IPV4 no network access
IPV6 no network access
Media state connected

I am running windows 7 home premium on a dial up connection.

I have had this problem previously but it usually corrects itself in a couple of days. This time I have had the problem for about a week

Anyone know what may be going on?

I have a computer that is set up with wifi and I have an ethernet cable running from it to an xbox. I have a netwrok bridge between my Local area connection and wireless network connection. So I can use the internet on my xbox as well.

Problem is that is it all very laggy. On the PC and the xbox when I try to play games. I have played with all sorts of router settings and nothing works. When I check the connection status it says I have a connection speed of anywhere from 11 mbps to 54 mbps. But no matter how high it is I have lag. And browsing and streaming is very slow on the pc as well and I think that it shouldn't be as slow as it is. I was wondering if getting IPv4 and IPv6 connected would change this and how can I go about doing this?

The wireless connection properties shows all boxes ticked and Ipv4 & ipv6 are set to addresses being automatically assigned. However the wireless connection status says that both of these are not connected. I have tried uninstalling the wireless driver, when it reinstalls the problem is still there.

Any suggestions?

How IPv6 works? After setup IPv6 properties and disable IPv4 no more internet connection available.

I went to ipv6 properties and setup the ip address, prefffix range and default gateway and then disable or uncheck the ipv4 check in an network interface card property now no more internet connection available.

So my question is, how to configure ipv6 to works without ipv4?

Regard,
Thanks.

Ok, this problem has persisted for a major time now, and has quite frankly gotten me absolutely annoyed . I've tried just about everything, from using the netsh commands to changing the dns to 8.8.8.8 or that other one or the other. Nothing is working, I unplugged the router, problem persists, I disabled IPV6 problem persists, I restore, problem persists. The only clue I have is my router, and mysteriously, there are TWO of my computer on it. It might be nothing but most certainly has caught my attention. Also, it gives me this info about my media being disconnected

Can anyone help this poor soul?

Hi

I have run updates on vista home premium, now my laptop will not connect to the internet, either wirelessly or though ethernet.
When I look at wireless connection it says "connected with limited access" In connection status it shows
IPv4 Connectivity: Not Connected
IPv6 Connectivity: Not Connected
Media State: Enabed

I get the same messages through my Lan ethernet connection.

I have another computer connected wirelesly to the same router and it works just fine.

Please help

Hello all I hope I'm not breaking any rules by doing this but I had an issue over the weekend where my PC wouldn't connect to the internet and it took me hours to fix I wanted to post Connectivity IPV4 Issue Not IPV6 Connected Wifi - & what I did here in this forum since this popped up in the Google search most often so others can find it Also I can't figure out how to put the SOLVED icon in the title can an admin help Thanks Some brief background I'm running an old HP Compaq s with Windows Vista Business -BIT that still runs pretty well I decided to clean it up a bit and went and deleted a bunch Wifi Connectivity Issue - IPV4 & IPV6 Not Connected of programs including Comodo Firewall I'm inclined to believe my issue was caused Wifi Connectivity Issue - IPV4 & IPV6 Not Connected by the sudden deletion of this program maybe old setting still in effect Wifi Connectivity Issue - IPV4 & IPV6 Not Connected causing a conflict etc but I'm not certain After restarting my computer I could see networks in my area but could not fully connect to them The windows diagnostic tool said it was either a hardware issue with my Intel Wifilink AGN or the IPV and IPV needed to be switch on Which they already were The most prevalent things that I did that seemed to fix the issue in no particular order Run scf scannow through the Command Prompt window as an administrator Run a chain in Command Prompt 'netsh int ip reset' as a administrator Went to the Network amp Sharing Center Manage Connections and right-click on the primary wireless connection and go to properties Here I made sure both the IPv and IPv boxes were checked I also went to the properties of each and made sure the options were set to auto-retrieve for the IP and DNS In the same properties dialog I noticed that there was a Comodo Firewall component of some sort which was checked I unchecked and deleted that box I attribute this as a primary offender of my issue since the program was deleted and therefore there should have been no component left in effect I also clicked on the install option and installed the only one that was offered there I downloaded the updates for my Intel Wifilink AGN from the HP website NOT the Intel website The program that you download has a page of instructions with it but I basically downloaded installed and ran the exe to reinstall the drivers which updated my Wifilink driver from to During this process if you have an Intel driver or other driver manufacturer program I would go to your Start Menu and search 'Intel Proset Wireless Tool' and use the diagnostic feature This will scan your Intel network related content and find conflictions which you can use for additional troubleshooting Updating my drivers alone did not help but it did resolve one issue the Intel Proset found as far as the version of driver I was using Lastly and this was what FINALLY did it for me I went to my Device Manager and right-clicked properties of my primary wireless adapter Intel Wifilink AGN the updated version went to Driver Details and changed one of the options with a -digit input to mine of set to and sorry I can't recall the name of the option but it's the only one with the option of entering -digits and two other options in the list to ' highest there are only two components with this choice and I changed both to it I hope this helps save someone the process of buying a new wifi adapter or doing a clean install Also I hope if this thread breaks any rules an admin will help me correct it archive it or at least copy and paste some of these items that weren't suggested on this site some were some I can across on my own in a stickied post Cheers

When I connect my wire to the modem, I have internet on my pc and don't have WI-FI but when I connect the wire to my router I don't have any internet connection.

I cannot go to my router configuration page since I will not have any internet connection when connected to the router.

A:IPv4 and IPv6 not connected and Windows Firewall unable to connect

Did you try a wired connection? How about booting in Safe Mode with Networking with a wired connection?

Let's see this with a wired connection.
Hold the Windows key and press R, then type CMD then press Enter to open a command prompt:

In the command prompt window that opens, type type the following command:

Note that there is a space before the /ALL, but there is NOT a space after the / in the following command.

IPCONFIG /ALL

Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter to copy the contents to the clipboard.
Paste the results in a message here.

If you are on a machine with no network connection, use a floppy, USB disk, or a CD-RW disk to transfer a text file with the information to allow pasting it here.

A:Cannot connect to Internet IPv4 and IPv6 problems please help!

When you have two security applications apparently so corrupted that you cannot uninstall them adding yet another one doesn't seem to me to be moving in the right direction.

At this point I would be formatting the partition and going to a "fresh" Vista via Installation DVD, Recovery partition, Recovery DVDs or a backup image from before the problems started.

To continue on your current path I suggest to try uninstalling those critters in Safe Mode. There is a Removal Tool for ZoneAlarm; don't know about the others.

I have a Motorola SB DOCSIS modem from Charter feeding my own D-Link DIR- router Periodically the Internet is unavailable to my PC that is hard wired to the router When that happens it s only gone for a minute maybe two minutes Sometimes it will go for days with no problems Other times it may happen two or three times an hour I can read the modem status page from my PC when this happens and observe that the four downstream channels are bonded and receiving approximately dBmV S N dB modem connected internet, is but No Solved: cable Upstream is bonded and delivering dBmV So I think we can say that the PC is communicating with the modem through the router and the modem is connected to Charter s head end Charter has been out numerous times and says the signal into and out of the modem meets specs Of course they are never there when the Internet is unavailable But if they were there they would probably find that the signal carrier meets specs but there is no Internet However Charter repair has told me that this is impossible If the modem is bonded it means the Internet is there Therefore it is the router that is dropping the Internet remember I can read the modem status page trough the router when this happens Any thoughts nbsp

A:Network Cable Unplugged appears whether connected through router or directly to modem

The fact that the Realtek driver cannot update is a worrisome clue.

If this is a desktop, replace the network card as a test... and reinstall the drivers once more.

Modems or Network Interface Cards can fail at anytime, and new ones are not any more reliable than old ones...

Also check the socket. We have been seeing a lot of network socket failures... But were fixable by adding a new network card, and disabling the old socket.

Hi,
I set up vpn and it appears to be working, but can't access the network. I am getting the notify connected but ipv4/6 "no network access" message. Tried several different settings, fyi PPTP has been opened on the firewall. Any suggestions on how to get network access? Using native (no 3rd party software) ms PPTP to connect a win7 to a vista computer. thanks.

A:VPN "No Network Access", ipv4 not connected

Got vpn working, but not with Microsoft. Went with hamachi vpn free version works on my vista as vpn server (sort of-guess its not a true server program for user since you go thru hamachi's servers) & windows 7 as client (its windows 7 tested). took 2 minutes to set up. Painless, amazing app. Firewall & router and multiple os's proved too much for ms pptp. I can even access my usb hard drive from 2000 miles away!!! So far no problems. Has anyone had any issues with hamachi? little concerned about privacy & security.

so easy to use. It open ports & takes care of all firewall bs. Just right click your vpn computer hit "browse" and you're in from anywhere in the world. (ip adresses whited out) for simplicity even beats anything i've seen on a mac.

Hello, everyone.

I have a problem with my new laptop with windows 7 ultimate on it. I tried to connect it to another PC on my workgroup using an existing ethernet switch.
The cable is connected normally. I've set the IPv6 address and disabled the IPv6. There's nothing wrong with the ipconfig result as well. But it says no network access on the status and I can get any connection (Received packets: 0)

Some notes:
- We don't have any domain, we just use workgroup.
- There's no DHCP servers on our network, so I have to set the IP manually.

Thanks.

My daughter has asked me to post a question in hopes that someone will give her advice that will solve her problem. She has cable Internet service in Chicago. There was a storm which knocked out the service. A tech came and was not able to help her. She is unable to work and her phone is also out since it's voip. All the lights are on on her cable modem. When she opens IE, the loading icon looks like it is working. She has power cycled the modem several times. Can you please just give ideas she might try? She is desperate for any/all help. I know that I've been told to use the "run" window from the "start" menu and do something, but I don't remember what.

I'm having this problem for two days already.
I can't access the internet through wifi router, but when I connect the cable modem directly to my laptop, it works perfectly fine. When I try to connect again through the router it says I have "Limited" connectivity or no internet access.

I tried resetting the router but to no avail. I would appreciate your answers.

A:Solved: When i have wifi and 3g usb modem connected i cannot access internet

Your first suspicion (Default Gateway) is almost certainly the reason. When Windows has a choice of Default Gateways it chooses the wired over the wireless. But if they are the same type--both yours are wireless--I don't know if the selection is random or if there is an algorithm.

Anyhow, the solution is your situation is to assign a static IP to the Wi-Fi connection, leaving the Default Gateway and DNS null (blank). The IP you choose has to be in the router's IP range but outside its Dhcp server's address range.

My neighbor is using my Belkin Router the basic one and has comcast. We both use his internet and have had no problems until the past 3 days. He just got the home phone service from comcast and the phone line is setup through the modem. Ever since comcast came to his apartment and set this up the home phone service to his modem the router is connected but there is no internet access. What is going on and how can I fix this. He has an HP with windows Vista and I have a Toshiba Satellite L675 that has Windows 7 Home premium edition on it. Can someone tell me step by step on how to fix this on both laptops please He is frustrated with it and so am I. I am hoping to get an answer as quick as I can!! Thank you so much

Appears you are on Vista ( Microsoft Windows [Version 6.0.6001] )

and running from an Admin Login (ie Owner and other than maintenance, you should be using a Limited Account, eg: UAC but solve that latter)

Disconnect from the router
Goto Control Panel > Network and Internet > Network Connections.
Right click on ?Local Area Connection? & click ?properties? option.

scroll and find the Internet Protocol V6
clear the [x] preceeding that line
click ok

get a command prompt (run->cmd) and enternetsh int ip reset
netsh interface ip delete arpcache
ipconfig /flushdns

Hello Everyone nbsp I would love help on figuring out this question nbsp I was remoting into one of my machines and it seemed everything was working fine until one day I could not remote into the machine I went to the machine it was connected to the internet The only thing I found v.s. IPv4 IPv6 surprising was that when I hovered my mouse over the the computer system icon there was quot Internet Access quot where there IPv6 v.s. IPv4 is usually my domain quot omni com quot now of course I checked my control panel and the machine is connected to the domain I decided to go into my adapter and see if there was a problem The Network and IPv6 v.s. IPv4 sharing center showed an internet connection but not domain network which shows I am connected to a domain So I clicked on the adapter settings and removed the IPv settings the all of a sudden the adapter showed my domain I am wondering is there a conflict between IPv and IPv when it comes to domains Any answers would be helpful Thank you in advance

I have just been reading about this in a newsletter and I am confused as all heck as to what it means.

Does this mean that IPv4 will not exist or exist alongside IPv6 or even can one communicate between a site with IPv6 if you have an IPv4 address and vice versa.

I know the tech has got to move on but this so very confusing to me.

A:IPv6 v IPv4?

The way I understand it, it is still not an immediate concern.
At least not in the way of the home user.
Ipv6 has actually already been in use for ages. I think the first capable systems were up before the internet even really took hold. Might get busted by a fact checker here but pretty sure it was invented in like the early 90's if not the very late 80's.

Are you able to provide screenshots of the IPv6 addresses you are referring to in an IPconfig screenshot. IPv6 has various categories of addresses that determine what sort of access you have.

To better assist you can you please follow this tutorial from a working machine and the one that isn't working so we can make a comparison - Basic Requirements Before Posting your Networking Thread. This can help us identify what may be causing your issue.

Hi,

I did a clean install of my Win10 Home about a week ago and it all turned out for the good. However, tonight while nosing around my Network Connections I notice I am connected to the Internet by Ethernet (Realtek PCle GBF Family Controller) which I thought I was since I had a cable from my Windstream Router to my PC.

When I would click on 'Status of this Connection' (Ethernet) I saw that under Connection there was listed:

IPv4 Connectivity: Internet
IPv6 Connectivity: No Network Access

I always thought that both of them should say 'Internet'. Am I right or wrong?

Also, while looking at the Network Connections I see 'WiFi' (Qualcomm Atheros AR9485 802.11b/g/n Wifi adapter) is also listed. It says 'not connected'. It shows a 'Red' X on it along with five green 'Bars'.

Should the WiFi connection be displayed that way?

Thanks and regards,
2harts4ever

A:IPv4 and IPv6 Connectivity?

That is because IPv6 is not used outside of the gateway. Only Homegroup uses it. If you want to use Dual Stack, which uses both IPv4 and IPv6, you would need a router capable of it. Any IPv4 traffic that passes outside the gateway and may direct from your ISP to a server that uses IPv6, it will do so with 6:4. All IPv4 packets are encapsulated in a IPv6 packet and appear to be transparent when they reach the router on the other end, that just sees the IPv6 packet until it gets past the Gateway to be routed to the server, which can be using only IPv4, so it would get a IPv4 packet after the Gateway removes the Encapsulating. It does the reverse when the packet goes back out and gets sent back to you.

You can check your outside the Gateway IPv6 status at IPv6 test - IPv6/4 connectivity and speed test

Depending on your web browser, it may come back and state that DNS fallback failed which is normal. DNS6 + IP6 should also show failed. Everything else should show Green.

The biggest problem right now is that IPv6 still has a lot of security problems with it, so that is why it is still sitting in a test mode. We may never see it become the norm, since there are still more than enough IPv4 addresses available between ISP's and the Backbones. The media hype by the likes of Cisco, etc. is to sell their Dual Stack gear more than anything.

Remove all encryption from the router, and also remove all the stored wireless network profiles from the machine. See if you can maintain a good connection that way. I'd use WPA2 or WPA over WEP, which is not that secure anyway.

IPv vs using IPv What should I be using Right now my computer is using IPv for internet Under Local Area Connections Status IPv Internet IPv No network access Media state Enabled I ask this question because I have been having a random issue Random every or - or so times I start the internet using Firefox or IE to connect to internet I can not connect I get error quot local area connection doesn't have a valid Ip configuration quot In IE I tick diagnose problem and it states the resolution was to reset local area connection At this point I can then connect and internet works What is the computer doing to fix the issue And does it WIN7 Using IPv4 using IPv6? vs have to do with IPv or IPv Is there any security risk between IPv or IPv The route for the internet is from wall to cable modem to Dlink DI- router to nic on motherboard of machine No other machines are currently connected to router Thanks for the help

A:IPv4 vs using IPv6? Using WIN7

IP4 is the traditional internet address scheme.
eg.205.287.047.000

IP6 is a new method that due to limited possible address spaces, was required.
This is normal and expected wdue to internet growth.

Concerning the rest ,
It would seem that your hardware is working well.
Not being a network person I wont try to answer your question in detail.
I will say that it is likely a router setting issue.

If you could please explain in detail:
Computer specs
Modem make/model
NIC make/model
Other possible connections (even if inactive)
Security programs EG. AV and Firewall
Programs running at startup
IE add ons

With the additional info I think that we can get you going again in short order.

Thanks, Pat

Hi All

I would like to know, since IPv6 has recently been started to roll out worldwide in the attempt to eventually replace IPv4, would it be advisable to change my Adapter settings to use IPv6 instead of IPv4? Or are there still to many devices and servers on the web that only rely on IPv4 connections?

Both my IPv6 and IPv4 are enabled, but when visiting this website, it says that my internet connection is not IPv6 capable... IPv6 test - IPv6/4 connectivity and speed test . Why is that?

Thank you

A:IPv6 to replace IPv4?

As I understand things, IPv6 will be an on-going project for a long time to come. One of the biggest problems is having existing ISPs convert to IPv6, assigning new IPv6 addresses (which will be in a totally different format from existing IPv4 addresses), and implementing the new protocol in phases so as to not disrupt existing internet traffic. You may find this article an interesting read:

IPv6.com - IPv6 and the Next Generation Internet

I received a letter from my ISP a while back outlining what the consumer can expect over the next several months and years. Long story short, my ISP said to leave all of my existing settings as they were. They would notify consumers when and if changes needed to be made. Your ISP may become fully IPv6 operational before mine. Or vice versa. They would probably be the best source for current information for your particular setup.

I will move from the windows 7 forum to the networking forum

would you post back the following
------------------------------------------------------------------------
{ipconfig /all}
If you cannot access the internet with this PC, then you will need to paste the results into something like notepad and then copy onto a machine that can access the internet and post results here
We would like to see the results from ipconfig /all post back the results here
-> Start
-> (XP - enter the following in the RUN box)
cmd /k ipconfig /all
-> (Vista or Windows 7 - enter the following in the Search box)
cmd /k ipconfig /all

A black box will appear on the screen -
rightclick in the box
select all
enter
control key + C key - to copy

then reply here and
control key + V to paste
------------------------------------------------------------------------
{Ping Tests}
If you cannot access the internet with this PC, then you will need to paste the results into something like notepad and then copy onto a machine that can access the internet and post results here

Start> Run {search bar in Vista}> CMD to open a DOS window and type:

Type the following command
Ping google.com
Post back the results
rightclick in the box
select all
enter
control key + C key - to copy
then reply here and
control key + V to paste

Type the following command
Ping {plus the number thats shown against the default gateway shown in above ipconfig /all}
Post back the results
rightclick in the box
select all
enter
control key + C key - to copy
then reply here and
control key + V to paste

Type the following command

{run Xirrus Wi-Fi Inspector} Download and install
If you cannot access the internet with this PC, then you will need to copy the program across to the faulty PC

http://www.xirrus.com/library/wifitools.php
Then run the program
if you get an error - You need NET Framework installed for the WiFi Inspector to function.

post a screen shot of the program running - if there are a lot of networks showing can you click on "networks" top lefthand area - so we can see all the network information, and also post which network "Adapter Name" (1st column) is yours on the list

To post a screen shot of the active window, hold the Alt key and press the PrtScn key. Open the Windows PAINT application and Paste the screen shot. You can then use PAINT to trim to suit, and save it as a JPG format file.
To upload it to the forum, open the full reply window and use the Manage Attachments button to upload it here.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
{Device Manager}
Post back the results in device manager
Start > control Panel {Vista set to classic view}> system > {Vista, device manager on left hand side} {XP hardware Tab, device manager button} >
windows 7
start > control panel> System and Security> Device Manager

network adaptors, click on the + > post back the devices listed there
are there any ! ? or X
post a screen shot of the device manager - network adapters

To post a screen shot of the active window, hold the Alt key and press the PrtScn key. Open the Windows PAINT application and Paste the screen shot. You can then use PAINT to trim to suit, and save it as a JPG format file.
To upload it to the forum, open the full reply window and use the Manage Attachments button to upload it here

Hey everyone (first post) I've been studying IT for a short while and just started work on IPv6.Don't suppose anyone can give me a few minutes of their time? I've got a whole book of these kind of questions but a head start with this one would really help. I need to create a IPv6 design for the requirements of at least 300 networks but no more than 65000 networks.I need the most appropriate prefix? (I think /50 right?)then need the network address, Prefix, gateway and first host address for the first 5 networksEdit: Moved topic from Windows Crashes, BSOD, and Hangs Help and Support to the more appropriate forum. ~ Animal

I installed Win on two computers this week here at home They are both connected to the same NAT router which connects me to my DSL connection so this is a VERY conventional setup IPconfig shows that both systems have an IPv as well as IPv running both consequently also have two addresses an IPv as well as an IPv address though the connection to the internet is IPv only Now I just noticed that if I ping computer from computer the name resolves to an IPv address If I ping in the other direction the name is resolved to an IPv address fe a b de b I have installed both systems from the very same CD and I didn't do anything special nor different regarding networking So why is one PC resolving system names using IPv the other IPv In principle I couldn't care less which IP version the systems are using as long as connections work ok but I am using a file synchronization utility that apparently compares addresses and if the subnets of the two system don't match switches to a mode where it synchronizes via a proxy out somewhere in the network If it detects that both systems are in the same subnet they connect directly which then runs much much using the systems: why IPv4, one is IPv6? other Two faster That's why I Two systems: why is one using IPv4, the other IPv6? need both system to use the same subnet and hence they should both use the same default IP stack Can one change the preference or order of these stacks Michael

A:Two systems: why is one using IPv4, the other IPv6?

Hi.

Not sure why it's doing that. Did you install a 3rd party firewall on one and not the other?

If you're using static ip addresses, you can place entries for each machine on the network in the hosts file.

C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts

Open it with notepad. It's basically the system's first dns server.

Or you can test ping like this:

ping -4 hostname

ping ipaddresshere

Welcome to 7F,

Try removing your wireless network profiles stored by following this guide. Reconnect again to your own SSID (wireless network) and make sure to enter the correct network encryption key. Here's a more detail guide.

Last month we get a new Router then one XP PC can get wireless connection but cannot access internet and cannot ping the router any more. Reinstall the OS and turn of the firewall cannot solve the problem.

The title says it all really, my Dell inspiron 1525 laptop is connected to my wireless but hasnt been able to access internet.

I have seen many cases similar to mine, where people have been able to connect to the network, through either wireless or LAN cable but the internet doesnt work. However, i have not come across a single definite solution to this issue.

I have tried all the possible solutions that i came across various forums but none of them have seemed to work. Iam currently using my other laptop which works fine.

I would really appreciate some help regarding this matter since this forum showed most promise.

Thanks

Hi about a week ago I started getting the problem where my laptop would connect to the network but there would be no internet access I tried many of the suggestions that I found online like flushing the dns and resetting the tcp ip but none of them but network, access Connected to no internet seemed to work The only thing that I have been able to get to work is doing a system restore to the day before it began to happen However the next day when i swich on my laptop again I have the same problem so I have to restore again Obviously doing a system restore everytime i want to use my laptop isn't ideal I can't figure out what is doing this At first I thought it was a windows update but I disabled all updates after one of my restores and it did not make any difference I also have mcafee installed and disabled anything within that that I thought could have been an issue As far as I can see I have not changed or installed anything after the system restores that would cause this problem to arise each time I start up my laptop Any help is very much appreciated edit Connected to network, but no internet access - Just thought I should point out that the wireless router I am trying to connect to works fine with everything else so it is definitely an issue with this laptop

A:Connected to network, but no internet access

Welcome to the Seven Forums!

Just as a test, please consider uninstalling mcafee and installing Microsoft Security Essentials in its place. Even if this does not fix the issue, maybe you could leave it in place for the duration of the troubleshooting. After you solve this connectivity problem, you can go back to mcafee if you must.

You mentioned that the problem happens again the next day:

1) Does it happen if you just reboot or does it have to be off over night?

2) Does it happen if you turn off the laptop, leave it off for 5 minutes and then turn it back on?

3) And what happens if you set the laptop to stay awake and left it on all weekend?

You might want to read this too:

Hi! I have a wireless router with three wireless computers on it. Additionally, I have two wired computers. I can't get my Compaq w/Vista to access the web using IE8 or Firefox. However, my AV (Norton) can run live update easily. I have great internet connectivity, but can show pages. With IE, I get the "can't display this page" or something similar. I click to diagnose the connection and it says that it's fine. I did the following so far:
1. disconnected the modem and router and reconnected.
2. ensured that the firewall was allowing the programs through (and turned it off for awhile).
3. Checked the network adapter to ensure that it was automatically assigning DNS and the other box.
4. I downloaded the setups for IE8 and firefox and reinstalled them.
5. went to LAN properties for the connection and it's active.

Help?
Thanks!

Hello and Welcome to Seven Forums,

Have you tried unplugging the network cable from the router's ethernet port then move it to another one?

Can you post an ipconfig /all output for review?

Also, try running the Network Troubleshooter tool from your Windows 7 computer.

I've set up a wired/wireless network in my apt and after several days of operating without difficulty, the laptop (which is connected wirelessly) now can no longer access webpages. My desktop is wired into the router and has not had any difficulties. I'm using an AirLink 101 802.11g router and a Motorola SB5100 Surfboard modem. The laptop is logged in to the network and I've tried power cycling both the modem and the router and disabled the security on the network. Are there any other basic troubleshooting things I can or should I just get some professional help?

Hey guys I ve been going though quite a few of your threads seeing if solutions given to people with similar problems would work but i haven t had any luck so I decided my own thread would be the best choice especially since I m just seeing the same ideas over and over So here s my situation I recently moved in with someone else who already had a PC Since my bedroom didn t have but access network, to internet. can't Connected cable on it my PC was off the internet for about months mostly waiting for the cable company to come and install the cable in there Well finally Connected to network, but can't access internet. the cable guys come and they set up the connection The modem says it s connected the computer itself says it s connected but no program Firefox IE various auto-updaters can access the internet The Connected to network, but can't access internet. cable guys suggested that it could be my Avast anti-virus the default McAfee was removed long ago So I uninstalled that with no result I then began looking for similar problems on here and other forums I can ping my IP fine and I can ping my gateway fine but I can t ping any external IP with host name or IP address Windows firewall was turned off and I even made a specific exception for IE on the firewall this did nothing I tried fixing the winsock entry to no avail oh yeah I was running XP with Serv Pack so I tried the auto-fix for this and the manual way So I became desperate and thinking it was a corrupted program registry key whatever I completely re-formatted my computer thinking it would reset any problem Nope After re-formatting I still have the exact same problem I immediately used my laptop and a flash drive to get the McAfee removal tool but after using it it did not help at all So I know now that it was not any anti-virus program registry key or windows update Before and after the re-format it said the network adapter was working properly so i never explored that route but everything seems fine there So I m running XP with no updates and no anti-virus programs on the affected computer Any help would be greatly appreciated Thanks nbsp

A:Connected to network, but no internet access

Welcome to seven Forums!

Is there a PC connected to the repeater's ethernet port or is it stand alone? I looked at the manual a spotted a few items you might want to look at.

First take a look at IP addressing. Are all PC's using DHCP from the router? Did you at any time get a "duplicate IP" warning on any of them?

The mac address showing up weird is not all that unusual if something has connected to the repeaters' ethernet port. It could take on the MAC address of the attached device. It varies by manufacturer so it may be normal for that particular device.

The other items to look at are "Protected Mode", "Repeater Mode" and "54g-LRS".

How are these configured?

When the scan is finished, a notepad will automatically open as check.txt   Please copy and paste the contents here on your next reply. Download MiniToolBox and open/run the program. When open, checkmark or select all options then click Go.A notepad will open then copy-paste the report on your next reply.

After a system update, when I turn on my computer it connects to the network but shows no internet access. The other computer on the same network has internet access.
I flush the winsock and i config, restart and I connect and have internet.
Every time I turn off my computer and turn it back on, I have to do the same thing. It is getting old.
What can I do to fix this permanently.

A:Connected to network, no internet access

Sounds to me like your winsock.dll file may have gotten partially or totally corrupted. See if the following link will help ya out any:

I just moved in to a new house that already had their wireless network set up. I am on a laptop running Vista. When I try to connect, it says " Connecting to the network is taking longer than usual" It finally will connect however it says "You are connected to <network name> but cannot access the internet." I tried to repair and run the diagnostic tests but nothing is working. Any ideas?

A:You are connected to <network name> but cannot access the internet.

Changes that may help to increase the compatibility of Vista with older networking devices:

Disable the IP Helper service:

1. Hold the Windows key and type R, enter "services.msc" (without the quotes) and press Enter
2. Scroll down to the IP Helper service, right click on it and select Properties
3. In the dropdown box that says "Automatic" or "Manual", set it to Disabled and then click on "Apply"
4. Then click on "Stop" to stop the service from running in the current session
5. Click OK to exit the dialog

Disable IPv6:

1. Hold the Windows key and type R, enter "ncpa.cpl" (without the quotes) and press Enter
2. Right click on each network connection and select "Properties"
3. Remove the checkmark from the box next to "Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6)
4. Click OK to exit the dialog

NOTE: You should do this for each network connection.

Disable the DHCP Broadcast Flag:

Link: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/928233

Hold the Windows key and type R, enter regedit and press Enter.
Locate and then click the following registry subkey:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters\Interfaces\{GUID}
In this registry path, click the (GUID) subkey to be updated.
If the key DhcpConnForceBroadcastFlag does not exist, use the Edit menu, point to New, and then click DWORD (32-bit) Value. In the New Value #1 box, type DhcpConnForceBroadcastFlag, and then press ENTER. If the key exists, skip this step.
Right-click DhcpConnForceBroadcastFlag, and then click Modify.
In the Value data box, type 0, and then click OK.
Close Registry Editor.
NOTE: You should do this for each and every GUID subkey.
NOTE2: (GUID) is a mnemonic for the individual subkeys, the actual text "GUID" does not appaer.

The only program I'm aware of that currently relies on IPv6 is the new Windows Meeting Space. The first 2 changes will cause that program not to work - but will leave all of your normal (IPv4) connections unaffected. If it causes problems that you can't overcome, simply revert back to the original settings.
