I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Not sure what you want to do! Are you asking if Windows 7 will support Bluetooth? I use a Bluetooth headset for VOIP etc if that is any help!

Hi Guys,

I am trying to buy a new "sports headphone" to be used at the gym. Unfortunately, where I am, I only either have bluetooth 2.0 + NFC or Bluetooth 4.0 (only 1 or 2 options) without NFC.

I am really keen on NFC, as I have a S4 and really keen to try NFC, would really appreciate any feedback on this? Is BT2.0 with NFC a better option in terms of easy of use or a simple BT3.0 or BT4.0 without NFC be a safer bet?

I am not too sure how stable the NFC technology now is, so thats my only concern.

Would appreciate some feedback on this.

A:NFC or bluetooth sports headphone?

Since NFC only works up to a few inches, it must be used just for the setup. The Bluetooth would then be used as the link between the headphones and phone.

I have a Dell Latitude E6410 that finds and apparently "connects" to my Rocketfish RF-MAB2 bluetooth headphones. However, the headphones never show up as a device in the sound/volume settings, so the computer plays sound from the speakers rather than the headphones. Any help will be much appreciated.

Hi, I am having problems getting a Bluetooth headset to operate. Having connected and paired (I believe), the device shows in Devices and Printers. In Device Manager, there are three listings for it (Aukey model EP-B4). Each listing says there are no drivers installed. Have tried updating each and all but after an age for Windows searching for drivers I had to use Ctrl-Alt-Del to close it.
I have contacted the manufacturer many times but so far no results - they repeatedly requested from where I bought it and item number.
I am using Win7 SP1 with all updates current.
The headset works well with my mobile phone and tablet (Android 5.1).
Any help much apprecitated.

In most cases (all I've seen) you can only have one default playback device, e.g. PC speaker (and wired headphones) or another device such as your bluetooth or HDMI audio.

I used to be able to listen to music through a pair of Sony bluetooth headphones on my Wins 7 laptop. However, I am no unable to do so. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the bluetooth drivers with no success, removed and added the device. I followed a number of the steps in this thread : Bluetooth headset pairs but won't connect, not avail as playback devic , specifically the post from 11th Dec 2014 . Computer has been restarted multiple times.

I've attached an image of what I see. I can connect the headphones to the laptop, but can't listen to music. I also cannot set the headphones to default playback.

Atm, I'm listening through an aux cable, but any additional trouble shooting steps would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance

The sound quality on paired headphones is terrible. There is a background, high pitched whine being transmitted that makes it unbearable to listen.
A wired pair of headphone works fine. The headphones work fine when paired with my Note 4 & Sony TV. A second pair of bluetooth headphones exhibits exactly the same problem, so it is 100% definitely the laptop that is the problem.
Does anybody know how the fix this please?

First, the "My System Specs" is where you fill in what you have.

Does the internal speakers on the laptop work? Is the audio OK on the internal speakers?

The SoundBlaster program(s) is a software enhancement to the basic audio chip (ReaklTek). Many PC's now come with some type of enhancement such as the SoundBlaster or in the case of HP PC's its "Beats Audio".

My Realtek HD Audio Manager has more options than yours.

Also, I notice you only have the microphone in the Recording Section of the Sound Panel. RIGHT click in an empty space in that Panel and then LEFT click Show Disabled and Disconnected devices. The Stereo Mix should be shown and you can enable that and make it the default Recording device.

Where did you get the RealTek driver that you installed? If you are not using the Lenovo supplied sound driver, get that and install it as a first step. I have a Lenovo Laptop and it has Stereo Mix and other functions. I haven't looked at the RealTek HD manager so I'm not sure what all it shows.

That colorless port might be for input devices, that does not include headphones. I had the same problem with my audigy 2 zs, had to plug my headset into a speaker port, its really the only way to get them to work, unless you have front panel ports for headphones.

thought here; have you checked all the settings to make sure the proper headphone/speaker settings are checked/unchecked?. i would consider updating to that newest driver. Hey guys,

So i spent the entire day trying to figure out why my Bluetooth installed fine but after one restart it disappeared and it wouldn't come back. I finally figured it out that the FN+F2 (wireless/bluetooth switches) is what enables/disabled it HAHAHAHAHA.

default (after startup): WiFi on / BT off
first time: WiFi on / BT ON yay~!
second time: WiFi off / BT on
third time: WiFi off / BT off

and repeat.

I hope this helps people with their bluetooth issues =)

Probably Windows 10 replaced the original Bluetooth driver with Microsoft driver which doesn't work well, if at all. Go to manufacturer's site and download the Bluetooth driver. If there is no Windows 10 driver, use that of 8.1 This should fix your connectivity problems.

You need to give the exact model number for your ASUS.

But have you checked the ASUS website for the bt driver for your model.

Hi, I have a windows 7. I have found the bluetooth in my computer, it says "fsquirt" aswell. When I open the file, it says send files or recieve files. So if i click on Send Files, it says " select where to send your files" with a large box under it which i cannot type in. If i press recieve files, it says " windows was unable to transfer some files, an address incompatible with the requested protocol was used.

So i dont know how to fix this!?! Help please? I'm trying to send videos from my phone to my computer via bluetooth!

Hi Sri, Welcome to 8 forums.
On windows type "msconfig" in search field at the start menu and open MSconfig. Go to the Services Tab and search for services related to Bluetooth. If any of them are unchecked they will not load on Windows start so make sure you have checked them.

Keep us posted.

Hello I have an issue with my Medialink USB Bluetooth Adapter Bluetooth LIT Adapter's USB Is Bluetooth OFF? Light IS When Blue - Version Class Smart Ready Adapter Model No MUA-BA Let me explain Okay I have setup my Medialink USB Bluetooth Adapter with the drivers for my Windows operating system USB Bluetooth Adapter's Blue Light IS LIT When Bluetooth Is OFF? Now when I plug this USB Bluetooth adapter into my USB port connector on my desktop computer it automatically lights up with a blue light on the Medialink USB Bluetooth Adapter itself and on my Windows system tray notification area I get the Bluetooth icon displayed as ON Then I go ahead and pair the computer and my device s example a Smartphone to connect which they do successfully When I am done using the Bluetooth technology I disconnect the Bluetooth connection from each device and then instead of leaving your USB Bluetooth adapter ON with my Windows operating system I go into my Windows system tray notification area and select Turn Adapter OFF I then get the red Bluetooth icon in my Windows system tray notification area demonstrating that my Bluetooth is indeed OFF and the Bluetooth blue light on the Medialink USB Bluetooth Adapter goes OFF or is not lit any longer Okay so far so good everything is normal However when I shutdown my Windows operating system and then restart the computer at some later point I notice that the Medialink USB Bluetooth Adapter still shows on my Windows system tray notification area as OFF okay normal BUT THE BLUE LIGHT ON THE MEDIA LINK USB BLUETOOTH ADAPTER IS NOW ON The only way I can turn off the blue light on the USB Bluetooth adapter is to manually go through the Windows system tray notification area turn ON the Bluetooth technology and then promptly turn back OFF the Bluetooth technology in order for the Medialink USB Bluetooth Adapter s blue light to go OFF again I find this to be a real pain and chore each time to have to go through these manual steps to turn OFF that Medialink USB Bluetooth Adapter s blue light when the Medialink USB Bluetooth Adapter s blue light SHOULD BE OFF TO BEGIN WITH I would assume after the system re- start and leaving the Medialink USB Bluetooth Adapter plugged into the USB port connector on my desktop computer if the Bluetooth technology is indeed OFF as set with the Windows operating system settings then the Medialink USB Bluetooth Adapter s blue light should be OFF as well BUT IT IS NOT I have no intention of consistently plugging in and out the Medialink USB Bluetooth Adapter when I plan on using it or not but instead leaving the Medialink USB Bluetooth Adapter always plugged into the my USB port connector on my desktop computer at all times and using the Windows system tray notification area s Bluetooth icon to turn ON and OFF the Bluetooth technology when needed I have contacted Medialink Mediabridge and they have informed me the rationale for this issue quot The only reason the light would be lit is if the bus power from that USB port was running I they looked for ways to manage the bus power settings of the USB host but was unable to find anywhere in the Control Panel that would allow you to adjust that particular setting quot Makes perfect sense to me that the bus power for the USB port is ALWAYS RUNNING and the computer starts the USB ports are powered and therefore the Medialink USB Bluetooth Adapter is always lit at system start until I turn off the Medialink USB Bluetooth Adapter via Window 's system tray notification area Specifically the Medialink USB Bluetooth Adapter is connected to one of the USB ports on the front of my desktop computer The front desktop USB port connects to one of the USB pin connectors on my ASUS P Q motherboard Further I have an OLDER ASUS P Q motherboard that does NOT support Bluetooth as part of its BIOS settings -- PRE-Bluetooth capability Therefore I installed the software on my Windows Professional -bit and drivers that came with my Medialink USB Bluetooth Adapt... I bought a bluetooth dongle which for some reason isn't working in Windows 7. It shows up in Devices and Printers as "CSR Bluetooth Chip" and when I right click on it and select bluetooth settings, nothing happens. It shows up under Bluetooth Radios in device manager. As a test I tried using it in a Windows 10 VM. When connecting the USB dongle via VirtualBox it was referred to as "Uknnown device 0A12:0001 [134]" and it worked just fine in the VM. In windows 10 mobile, I can go into my bluetooth devices, and 'disconnect' a specific device. In Windows 10, I can only 'remove' the device (which I don't want to do) or turn off BlueTooth altogether.
Does anybody know a way to just disconnect a device? For instance, I want to have my headphones connect to my phone instead of the PC.

A:How to disconnect a bluetooth device without turning off bluetooth.

'Remove device' is probably not the best choice of words they could have used on this! When you close the process (i.e. 'disconnect' your headphones) on your PC, you are performing the same function as what you describe on your phone. You are not actually removing the device, just closing the process. I hope that makes sense!

2. Click Services in the Programs list that appears

3. From the Services window, browse the list of services and find the Bluetooth Support Service

4. Double-click Bluetooth Support Service

It's depending on sound card. Most of the sound cards can record even without using connection between headphone and mic jacks. You should check your sound cards properties what it is recording.
But it should work your way too. Why don't just try. It might be mono though..

For music or gaming. It seems to me if your asking for 5.1 or 7.1 on a headphone than it's gaming. Audio I know in spades, gaming not so much. I use AKG 701's and love I LOVE them ! But on a budget the best phones for the money are Grado SR60's. Grado Prestige SR 60 - headphones - Ear-cup, Binaural

I have a Gateway MA7 laptop which has been ok for some years. There is now no sound output from headphone socket. Speaker sound ok. Have I pressed a mute button, if so, where is it?

A:Headphone socket

Hi Ron,

I honestly doubt this is related to a software 'mute' of sorts as your onboard sound is spot-on. I'm thinking that maybe your connection is obstructed - Perhaps you have dust in there? What I would try is turning the speakers up so that you can hear plenty of 'White noise' and then plugging them in / out to see if you get any crackling. That, and I'd try a second, 'known good' set of speakers.

With the plug superglued into the jack, now the only way to fix the issue is with a replacement system board for the laptop. I don't know that USB or Bluetooth headphones would provide sound.

Also, Realtek HD Audio shows the headphones as still being plugged in even when I unplug them. Not sure what is going on.

So I have desktop speakers, though i cannot always use them when other people are in the room. So I decided that i would just plug headphones in and use them when other people are in the room. I went to COMPUSA to ask them exactly how i would set it up so i could have headphones as well as speakers plugged into my computer. They suggested that a splitter would do the trick. So i buy the splitter, and it doesnt solve my problem. I still get sound out of my speakers, but only get quiet fuzz out of the headphones. What am I doing wrong? Am i missing some important step? Any help would be appreciated. I am not incredibly computer savvy, though i do know more than most and can follow directions well. Please help me.

A:Headphone problem

Welcome to TechSpot Forums

The easiest thing would be plugging your headphones to speakers' headphone jack, if they have one. If not, you'll probably have to unplug the speakers and plug headphones to your soundcard instead. A normal splitter doesn't cut out speakers, and different impedance between speakers and headphones causes the volume difference. You'd need a switch instead of a splitter.

Hey all.

I have, I hope, and easy question.

At work I listen to music all day but I like to only have one earbud in so I can hear the phone ring or notice when my coworkers ask me a question. Is there anyway to push all the sound out of one side? I can adjust the balance but I noticed that some songs on my pandora I only hear music on the left earbud, and the words to the song on the right earbud. It confused me at first then I realized that the balance must just turn the level down on the one side rather than pushing the all the sounds out one side.

Anyway to make this work?

I've got windows 7 and most of the time I listen to either spotify or pandora via the pandora gadget for windows 7.

Hey guys I just got these headphones and their fine and all except for two things. The mic on it just completely sucks, its terrible. The way the mic works is its just a plastic mic with a audio jack on the back and you just plug it in directly to the headphones. So if anyone could show me a separate mic that is the same thing but with better audio quality that would be awesome. Or will this not even fix my audio quality? Secondly they hurt your ears after hours of do you guys think 5.1 headphones are a gimmick and I should just take these back and get a good pair gaming stereo headphones? Let me know thanks.

A:Headphone Problem

Haven't really tried 5.1's,but I know what you mean about them hurting your ears.
You might want to try some in ear headphones like they use for mp3 players.
Mic quality may have to do with your sampling rate.
Check your sound card software to see if you can adjust it.

Is there any way to make my external speakers and USB headphones work simultaneously, or at least have it where plugging in the headphones makes them work and turns the speakers off?

The way it is right now, I have to open the Sound control panel and click the "Set Default" button to switch between either one.

I'd rather have it where both are on simultaneously, and then I can just use the controls on the speaker them off when I don't want them. If that isn't possible, then how about having it where the I just plug in the USB headphones, and then they work.

Having to open up a control panel every time I want to swap between headphones and speakers is a royal pain.

A:USB headphone/mic vs speakers

Welcome to the sevenforums! gsalter

And welcome to the trip into the CP each time headache. I had that problem plus the mic on a web cam overriding the mic on a usb headset here going back and forth between the default recording as well as default speakers settings. Back and forth and back and forth at first removing the web cam entirely for both Skype and the WLive messenger.

Actually when changing over between speakers and the headset you simply right click on the volume control icon in the system tray there and select "playback devices" rather then the need to open up the Control Panel each time. That's a fast shortcut for resetting the defaults.

Hi I have always been listening to music when I have been gaming but lately I have started to be interested in headphones that sounds really nice amp that focus more on the sound quality questions Headphone but since I have never really bothered much before I am a bit clueless and all I can do is read reviews I bought a pair of Denon AH-D and Headphone questions they did not sound nice for me with my Asus Xonar DG sound card and after some listening I found the ear cup being a bit small and hurting a bit so I have been reading up on these ones Sennheiser HD and everyone gives them a thumbs up Currently I am using these Tt eSPORTS Shock Gaming Headset with the Virtual Speaker Shifter and dolby headphone activated and EQ mode is set to Treble and I think this sounds ok but if I turn them off and use the Hi-Fi button they sound lack of words but deep amp not clear anymore So if anyone could enlighten me amp give me a few tips on a good pair of headphones that don't cost to much dollars would be the max for me

Dear TechSupportGuy Forum,

I recently bought myself a new pair of headphones, a Turtle Beach Z6A... anyways here is my problem:

Every time I turn off my computer or restart my computer my Turtle Beach Z6A microphone does not work. I have to manually disconnect the microphone from my computer and then replug it back in. Afterwards everything works perfectly fine again. Is there a reason for this happening? It is not a huge issue, just quite annoying seeing as I turn off my computer every night.

Computer specs:

OS: Windows 7 64 Bit
Motherboard: ASUS P6T
CPU: Intel Core i7 940
Display NVIDIA GeForce GTX 470
Soundcard: None (Built in motherboard soundcard..)

Thanks in advance

I didn't think they made those headphone for PC- I thought they only made them for PS3...
Did you install any drivers that came with the headphones?

The sound output I get from my headphone seems to be very feeble, even at max volume, but my speakers are working fine. Any suggestions? Does this mean there's a problem with my headphone?

try it in another source to confirm. It's possible that the jack is not going all the way in too.

I have a windows 7 enterprise installed and I just got a set of headphone plugged in via USB. The headphones do not work as the sound still comes out of the laptop device whe I try to listen to the videos.
Can you please tell me how to configure them so that the sound will come through the headphone device? I have already tried to plug the headphone in before starting the video but still doesn't work.

Hey I was just wondering how to set up or connect the headphone port on the front of my (mdg alexa case) I have a (gigabyte ga-x48-ds4) motherboard I also have a (xfi xtreme music sound crd. I am not sure "as I built this myself" if I have to hook up any wires/connectors iside the case to make the port work. I am running (vista 64 bit bussiness) w/ all updates and sp-1) I would like to get it running in such a way that when i plug the headphones in it auto mutes my surround sound and uses the headphones. thanks

before the win 10 update, the laptop recognize headphone with a speaker, which means we can see the headphone in "sound setting", and have seperate setting on it. but it shows speaker all the time regardless the plugged-in headphone. that affects using, for examle, it would not mute automatically when I un-plug the headphone. thanks!
