Q: Asus Xonar DX Switches OFF Randomly

Windows Professional x Asus Sonar DX Gigabyte X A-UD Corsair HX Series W Modular Power Supply Intel DX Asus Xonar Switches OFF Randomly Core i Ghz MSI GTX Cyclone Overclocked Edition GB SLI G Skill Ripjaw GB x GB DDR MHz - - - The card is inserted in the second PCI Express x slot The absolutely annoying problem is that the card stops working randomly The usual relay switch sound can be heard the click and then only a restart can turn it on Quote The clicks are not directly related to the power supply they come from the Asus Xonar DX Switches OFF Randomly relays that are used to disconnect the card from its outputs jacks to prevent pops in the speakers when powering on the computer There are also relays for switching to the front panel and for switching between the line-in and mic-in functions but they sound of those is probably masked by your mouse's clicking I tested the card on another machine where it was working just fine but when I moved it back to my machine seconds after I played online radio it switched off The computer is not even under heavy load so it doesn't matter if I play heavy games or just browse the internet The floppy cable is properly connected and the power supply is more than powerful to feed it The weirdest part is that this same card worked just fine for like a full year and during that time no hardware changes have been made It just started switching off like weeks ago for no apparent reason Does everything look fine here - Ubuntu Pastebin Could it be an IRQ problem conflict I'm helpless Any ideas what to test do in order to establish what the problem is

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Do a search for this card. I see many posts with the same or similar problems.

So I just got the card, it's just awesome.

But I recently have noticed weird "snap" sounds, just like a little bump, when I'm listening to music, or just randomly when someone links me something in skype e.g. just any random occasion.

Any ideas what might be causing this?

I'm a complete noob at this stuff, this is my first non-onboard audiocard so any stupid mistakes could've been made!

Hi everyone,

I installed a brand new Asus xonar STX in my desktop PCIe. The sound stops randomly while playing music or watching movies. It starts working again only after a restart. I have been trying to fix it for more than a week with no success.
Steps I have tried so far:
1. Update the drivers from asus website
2. Installed unixonar drivers
3. Disabled on board audio in BIOS
4. Deleted win 7 and installed Win 8.1
5. Ran chkdsk /b

Also when the sound stops my music player stops playing. I can still play videos with no sound in vlc or MPC but winamp does not work at all as it is audio only player. I am using rca 2-channel out. After the sound stops I can select s/pdif as default device and the sound starts working again, winamp starts playing, everything is fine.
Any help is highly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

A:Asus Xonar Phoebus and Asus Rampage 5 Extreme issue

The question(s) I have is ->
Am I missing anything when attempting to install the sound card? I have tried with no GPU drivers (including the Nvidia sound for the GTX 750 ti sc) / disabled onboard HD sound and still the sound card not detected.
Even in this motherboard, it should detect the sound card regardless of what sound source is set as default and then allow me to install it and set it as default (without messing about with the BIOS)?
Maybe my sound card has died when moving it from the last computer - Static death.....................
Thanks

Greetings all, I installed the Win8 Enterprise Eval 64-bit, but quickly went back to Win7 because of sound drivers.

I turned on Test Mode and disabled Driver Enforcement and tried both the Asus drivers and Brainbit drivers but couldn't get a working control panel but did get several blue screens.

My question is should I wait for Asus to get a real Win8 driver or should I look to another sound card. I really don't want to use my onboard...it sounds like crap.

Thanks in advance.....

I'am running the Xonar D2 not the Dx2. The drivers aren't made for Windows 7 yet but still they work pretty well considering. The sound works fine and I now have all the mixer functions working as well.

Hey,
I need a new headset and I am thinking of buying one of these 3: the Sennheiser 350SE, Beyerdynamic dt770 pro or the audio technika ATH-A700X. I am leaning towards the dt 770 pro, but I'm still unsure. The main problem is my Xonar DX which doesn't have built-in amp. The dt 770 requires 80 ohm or 250 ohm and the 350 se requires 150 ohm. So my question is: Can these headsets provide great quality with the no amp Xonar or do I need to buy a separate amp with it for max quality? Also, will the separate amp completely ignore the Xonar?
Thanks for the help.

Cheers,

P.S: I am open for suggestion of other headsets in the same price range (?150/ $200)

I have this sound card and I found that everytime I booted hsmgr.exe or hsmgr64.exe would pop up a warning window asking me if the file was safe to run.

There are two files needed for the Asus control center to work.

On each pop up show more info to find the path of each process.
Go to the process and go to the properties of the file. You will need to "unblock" the program.

In my case I had a process in both "syswow64" and "system" folders.

This stops that annoying popup.
(telling the computer to always allow the process to run doesn't work, it seems to forget on a restart)

Just thought I should share this info and in return someone tell me why my sound doesnt output more than stereo through optical out.

I have that sound card and had the same problem but that was easy to fix. The other problem is that the recording functions don't show up at all in the Asus Xonar console.

I have the above card, and i cant get 5.1 sound through S/PDIF... I have the lateset drivers(its beta though) and my speakers are the Logitech Z-5500.. When i was using XP all was working perfect, but now i am getting 2.1 sound through S/PDIF and no sound through the single connection..

Thanks in advance

A:Asus Xonar DX Help

Not that it helps your problem, but any particular reason for using the optical connection over analogue? Reason for asking is that your sound card has a better DAC on it than what is in the Z5500, and you would get better sound using analogue (which would also solve your 5.1 problem )

So I should be getting a Xonar DS in a couple of days if all goes as planned (along with a 2500k + P8P67 combo), one question I have is: what driver should I be installing once I reinstall Windows 7? The latest from ASUS.com? or those Unified Xonar drivers I've been hearing so much about?

Thanks fellas.

A:ASUS Xonar DS Advice

stick with the original driver for the piece of hardware first..then start messing with the newest and latest drivers being released, sort of like the drivers for GPU's, install the one that comes with the card then start checking the new released drivers. So you know what works best and compatible with your system.

hello,

i just bought the Asus Xonar D2X soundcard uninstalled all drivers of the Realtek HD 7.1 On-Board Sound, then installed the latest driver version 7.12.8.1794 of Asus Xonar D2X.

+Sound Card sits perfect in the motherboard slot
+Sound Card immediately detected on startup by Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit
+Sound Card in Device Manager says: "This device is working proberly" and "no conflicts"
+Sound Card in Control Panel->Hardware and Sound->Asus Speaker set to default speakers
+Tryed enabled/disabled "HD Audio Controller" in BIOS, i thought this was BIOS?s way to say "On-Board Sound"
+Installtion of drivers went very fast and without of any interference or error messages and said in the end "Drivers were successfully installed. Reboot now."

Yet i have no sound.

Thanks for your help

A:Asus Xonar D2X no sound

I have a Sonar X-Fi card installed - not the same, I know - but..

With my mobo, I didn't need to uninstall the onboard RealTek Drivers - I just updated them to the latest version..
then I installed the appropriate Sonar X-Fi soundcard drivers "over the top", so to speak..

once this is done the UI that comes with - (in my case) the Creative drivers - becomes functional, and takes precedence over the RealTek interface..

- the new soundcard's own drivers should kick in automatically, if you select that device as the default..

Having some trouble with this, only one program can record at any given time.
I cant for example use skype and ventrilo at the same time, I cant even have windows sound control panel open and skype at the same time, I wont see the bars moving.

And another thing is that every recording input says Currently Unavailable

And another thing I just noticed is that the volume is super duper low in skype but in ventrilo it is fine...
edit: microphone is low whatever I do now, was fine at first, I have tried to reinstall but it did nothing.

And I have the latest drivers I could find.

A:Asus Xonar D2X recording issues

I have similar problems - inputs currently unavailable (and the record sliders are missing from Asus Audio Center).
The mic seems to work ok, despite the lack of other options.
I had BSOD when I tried to update drivers to 7.12.8.1777 - and again when I tried to uninstall+delete them, to start from scratch.
Driver rollback didn't work either - had to do a system restore, to just before I updated drivers.
Tried disabling+uninstalling onboard Realtek sound but Win7 just re-installs it on reboot.
Tried plugging stuff into input sockets (they have detection) but still nothing.

With regard to your 'only one program at a time' - look at Properties, in sound dialog box.
On the Advanced tab, there's tickboxes for Exclusive Mode - try unchecking those.

Update: found a solution (from Asus forums) to BSOD on driver install...
Before unzipping, I right-clicked rar file, Properties, Unblock. Installed fine then.
A different problem now, is there's a graphical glitch which causes Audio Center menu to appear mostly grey, with just a small area showing in topleft corner.
Have seen posts from people elsewhere, with same problem. No solution yet.

Hello Everyone,

I recently bought an Asus Xonar DGX soundcard for an HTPC I'm building. Upon installing the card and booting into Windows 7, Windows recognized the card but was unable to install a driver for it.

Trying to then install the drivers (via both the CD driver and one I downloaded from the Asus website) I was greeted with the following error message, ""Please plug-in ASUS Xonar D2 Audio device." I tried moving the soundcard to a different PCI-express slot, but I was greeted with the same error.

At this point, I'm not sure why I am unable to install the soundcard on my Windows 7 install. Everything has been working correctly so far, so not sure if there is a driver issue or something that is wrong with the card itself.

If anyone could offer any additional assistance, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

A:ASUS Xonar DGX 5.1 - Won't Install in Windows 7

Disable the on-board audio, in the BIOS and then try installing it. The on-board needs to be disabled anyway and two sound cards can cause conflicts.

BTW, your profile and My System Specs list Vista. Also nothing in My System Specs except the wrong OS. You should list your hardware there as it helps someone to try and help you.

Hi all,

I have decided up grade certain parts of my pc. I know some people may argue that I don't really need to but I do enjoy the buzz of researching the different components and the ease of mind knowing I have a decent setup!

Anyway, at the moment I am looking at soundcards:

Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium
Asus Xonar D2X 7.1 PCI-Express

I have been hearing/reading great things about the Xonar so I am leaning that way. However, some have said they aren't as good for gaming because they lack the EAX feature?

My current spec is in my sig.

Thanks in advance for any advice/experience you may have!

Have you had a look around over here,

to see if anyone else with the same card has reported the same issues (check the other sound card sub-forums while there as well). If it really is a problem with the drivers only Asus can really do anything about it, and if they don't know about it (either posted in their forums or through a support ticket) they can't fix it.

My motherboard has three card slots. The top and bottom are PCIE x16 and the middle is PCIE x 1 as from the Service Manual.  My graphic card (GTX 750 TI) is in the top slot x 16, but also covers the middle slot x 1. This just leaves me the bottom slot x 16 free for expansion.
I would like to fit a Asus Xonar Essence STX 2 sound card which is a PCIE x 1.  Can I fit this to the free bottom slot x 16 and will it cause me any problems?
Thanks

We only tested a PCIe x1 sound card in the middle black PCIe x4 card slot. The bottom black PCIe x16 slot is hard wired for PCIe x4 so should be backward compatible to PCIe x1. Let us know if it works. Remember to disable the onboard audio in the bios.

Good evening all!!

Not sure if this is the correct place to ask this but....

Just wondered if someone can help me. I've recently bought an asus xonar D2/PM,

I downloaded the updated drivers from the Asus website and tried installing it on my new Windows 7 64 bit install but every time i run the install it crashes the PC which leaves me with the dreaded blue screen.
I also tried installing with the drivers disc that came with the soundcard but i get the exact problem

Has anyone had a similar problem and if so can you help me please!

A:Asus Xonar D2/PM Install Problems

I've experienced the same problem, but instead of bluescreening, it just hung. I had (at that time) an ASUS P5K mainboard.

This is what I did to alleviate this and successfully install the card:

1. Downloaded the latest driver
2. Disabled all devices that I didn't need, i.e. com, lpt, embedded audio (especially that) in the BIOS
3. Installed the driver with success and enjoyed the clear, quality sound

Good luck!

Update: Just installed on my new PC, forgot to disable onboard audio. The driver crashed windows. Disabled the onboard audio, successful install!

Hey, yesterday I went from windows 7 to windows 8, everytime I close a game or a program with sound, this buzzing noise comes, and it wont stop until I restart my PC. Might be worth mentioning that the drivers are beta drivers, but they have been since 2012, so the shouldnt be a problem. And yes I have tried reinstalling the drivers.

Hopefully someone has a solution, thanks.

Ummmm... you do realize that is a stereo sound card don't you?

It's inteneded to be connected to audiophile level amplifiers, not computer speakers.
The two RCA jacks for L and R are it. There is a headphone jack, also stereo and a mono microphone jack.

Hey guys, hope you can help me here.

There is no audio output from my PC, it's been this way for months, but only now have I decided to deal with it. I have a Asus Xonar DGX sound card, and I am getting no output from both the front case audio output, nor the back.

My Device Manager reports no errors.

These are my recording devices.

Any troubleshooting ideas?

Thanks a lot guys,

A:No audio ouput from PC, using Asus Xonar DGX Soundcard.

First suggestion, "refresh" the ASUS device. In the Device Manager, RIGHT click on the ASUS entry and then LEFT click "Uninstall". DO NOT uninstall the drivers. Restart the PC and when Windows starts it will detect and reinstall the ASUS. This fixes a lot of different problems and may take care of yours.

Related, but probably not your problem, the Stereo Mix should be set as the default Recording Device. As it is now its "Unavailable". The "refresh" may fix that problem too.

Hello and welcome Dhirendra mate I run the Xonar DG's in my desktops and have had no trouble at all and your problems smacks of either her the card or slot being bad. In particular I would have a close inspection of the joints around the output sockets on the board.

I am assuming you have reseated the card and made sure it is a snug fit? the other thing you could try is this.

SLOT CLEANING

Now as for the slots to clean themuse a strip of old credit card about 1/2 inch wide nip the corners off one end- preferably round them offhold a piece of thin lintfree cloth over the end dab on some form of alcohol - isopropyl alcohol (whatwe swab the skin with before an injection) is good and GENTLY swipe along the slots.

This can also be done for the GPUslot/s and also the contacts of the sticks or cards - not the stick but somelint free cloth of course. See my pic for the sick but please be very gentledoing it if you are in any doubt - please ask before doing it but I use thisall the time and have yet to damage anything.

I have an Asus Xonar D2X sound card for my rig and I am currently using a logitech X-540 speaker system.
I'd like it if someone can recommend a really powerful speaker system that can be used with the sound card without the use of a receiver.
I was looking into something better than logitech Z906. My budget is around $500

EDIT: The speaker system should be 5.1 or 7.1

Thanks

So I am having an issue with the HDMI passthrough on my Asus HDAV 1.3. Sometimes it works fine, and then on a reboot it will decide to stop working. More rebooting/trying to detect monitors/changing resos or powercycling the reciever or TV it outputs to will allow & to detect it as a monitor.
Have updated drivers, both video and audio.
Have checked the settings (those I could find) in the HDAV software suite.

Should probably mention that audio does not work either. Leading me to suspect something with the sound card, likely driver related. Would like any suggestions, Thanks.

Asus Xonar XD driver telling me sound card not plugged in when installing driver

I got myself a Asus Xonar DX, so I hooked erverything up to my motherboard (Gigabyte GA-PH67A-D3-B3) and connected the power cable to my power supply (OCZ StealthXstream II 700W), but when im trying to install the driver I'm getting the message: "Plug the Asus Xonar DX in". I disabled my onboard sound, but I'm getting still the same message. I don't really know what's going on, is the soundcard broken or is it just a minor problem? I pugged the card in a PCIE x1 slot and a pcie x4 slot. Thanks if you can help me with this problem.

I just hooked my Asus Xonar and everything works fine, except for the magic voice.
Its probaly just me, but I have no idea how to use magic voice on the driver from the soundcard. when I add a app to the app list, like skype or teamspeak, and he asks if I want to run it, then I select yes. But when Im talking to someone and trying to use magic voice by selecting it, it tells me the driver will select microphone input as the recoding source for the microphone effect. So I clicked Ok, but it does nothing I cant choose what voice I want. The headset that I am using is a Roccat kave.
Got any ideas, thanks for the help.

Cheers,

Hi, I have an XPS 8700 desktop, and I recently purchased an Asus Xonar DGX sound card. After installing it, I turned on the computer, but it wouldn't go past the "Starting Windows" screen. When I took out the card, it turned on normally. How do I solve this problem?
The sound card plugs into a PCI express slot, which my motherboard has, and everything seems to fit properly, but the problem persists.
I have tried disabling the onboard audio from the BIOS, like I read on a forum topic, but still no luck.
Any help is appreciated

A:XPS 8700, Asus Xonar DGX sound card, no boot

The Asus Xonar DGX sound card is a PCIe x1 card. So it should be installed in either of the smaller slots numbered 22 below =

Just got my first AMD card in years (maybe around ~5 years), I installed the latest driver from AMD without issues (13.10) then I installed the driver for the ASUS Xonar DS, the driver installed fine, but the sound card is not being detected as the primary Sound Device for Windows, it appears with a yellow exclamation point when going into Device Manager, under "Device Status" it says:

"The device cannot find enough free resources that it can use (Code 12).

If you want to use this device, you will need to disable one of the other devices in the system"

Which I already did, I disabled the HDMI audio from my HD 7970, and nothing.

What can I do?, I'm running out of ideas.

This was after a clean install of Windows 8.1 btw.

Thanks.

A:New AMD Radeon HD 7970 card install, now no ASUS Xonar DS?

Did the Xonar sound card work OK before installing the new video card? Or did you install both at the same time?

If you installed both at the same time, physically remove the new video card and go back to whatever you had before and then try to install the Xonar sound card and see if it works OK. 8GB of RAM is plenty. I have one system, an i5 3550 CPU and it rarely gets over 4GB of RAM used.

I've also seen some comments about the 8.1 having some sound issues. I don't remember what they are but something else to consider.

Hi,

I've recently installed a Xonar DS audio card in my Windows 7 Ultimate PC. The drivers installed fine and in Device Manager it says that it's working properly. However, I can't hear anything when I plug my speakers into any of the ports. They work fine when I plug them into the motherboard (Asus P5N-E SLI) audio port. Please can someone tell me how to get it working?

Thanks,
Joe

I need a sound card, but I can't make up my mind.
I've seen alot of threads about The Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium vs the Asus Xonar DX. I want one of these two soundcards, but every Thread is about 50/50, one forum is a big fan of the Xonar and the other a big fan of the X-fi. So I still have no clue what soundcard I should take. I need a soundcard that is good for gaming. So which one should I take or is there a better one in that price range?
I would be very thankful if you can help me out.

Best regards,

Hi, I'm looking to get a suggestion/recommendation for a new/replacement sound card.

My current sound card is a Creative Sound Blaster Audigy 2. It was a great sound card until it crapped out and started to pop/snap/crack like firecrackers. It's so bad and loud that I just keep my speaker system turned off so they don't get damaged.

I have an older PC and need a PCI sound card so these two sound cards are my choices.

Asus Xonar DG 5.1 PCI Sound Card
Diamond XtremeSound 7.1/24 bit PCI Sound Card

Would anyone have a possible opinion/suggestion for me? It's a toss up for me and I'm not sure which to go with... I'm just looking to get the best one out of them and I don't know which it is.

Thanks

Setup:
Dell Dimension 8250
Intel Pentium 4 CPU 3.06GHz

Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit Operating System
Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 Speaker System

A:Audigy 2 craps, Asus Xonar DG 5.1 or Diamond XtremeSound 7.1/24 bit?

First, I really surprised you have Win 7 installed on the old 8250. I do a lot of support on the Dell forum and used to have one of these back in 2001. I've seen some older systems that users have installed Win 7 (or Vista on) but this is the oldest one I've seen.

I have an HT Omega "Striker 7.1" sound card installed. It is a PCI type and will work with the old PCI bus like is in the 8250. Newegg.com - HT | OMEGA STRIKER 7.1 Channels PCI Interface Sound Card

Starting with build 7201, the Asus Xonar DX drivers render the OS effectively useless. Basically after installing, you'll find your system unresponsive no matter what you do or how many times you reboot. Everything appears to start up fine until you try to launch any application.

If you're stuck in this situation after installing the Xonar drivers on 7201, my suggestion is to boot into the recovery console and use system restore to return to a point prior to installing the drivers. I tried several versions before I gave up and am going back to 7137.

A:Asus Xonar DX Users: Avoid build 7201

Had the same problem, and I discovered a solution that lets you use 7201 and the Xonar drivers in relative harmony. First, open up your taskmanager and end the following processes:

hsmgr.exe
hsmgr64.exe

And voila, everything instantly works fine. Of course, you'll also want to prevent those processes from running on boot. This isn't a perfect fix, as it'll prevent 'GX2.0' from working (i.e., you'll lose EAX emulation in games).

So my computer updated to the AU last night and this seems to have broken compatibility with my sound card (Asus Xonar DG), and my wireless 360 controller. I tried re-installing the Xonar drivers for Windows 10 and it didn't work. I couldn't find any wireless 360 drivers for Win10 because I guess it's supposed to Just Work on Windows 10?

Other things I tried that didn't work:

-Rebooting

-Rolling back to yesterday's version of the OS (wouldn't let me)

-Refreshing Windows

-Resetting Windows, then reinstalling the drivers

-Physically removing and then re-installing my sound card

-Attempted to restore from a system image I made last week, but unknown reasons it would not allow me to do this

I'm pretty sure the issue is driver-related which is why I'm posting it here. I'm more concerned about the sound card as my mobo's onboard sound is borked. Has anyone else had this problem and been able to solve it?

Thanks!

A:Win10 AU: ASUS Xonar and Xbox 360 wireless controller driver problems

I recall another thread a week or two ago about an ASUS Xonar sound card not working. If I remember correctly, the user removed it and went back to the Realtek on board sound.

But, if the Xonar isn't compatible with the AU, its up to ASUS to update their drivers so it is compatible.
One other thought, if the on-board is not disabled in the BIOS, the update could have enabled it and cause a conflict with the Xonar.

I know basically nothing about the Xbox 360 wireless controller, but I would try uninstalling it in the Device Manager, then restart Windows and see if its detected and reinstalled. Don't just uninstall it in the device manager then search for new hardware as it can install but have the same problem.

(as a side note, I used to live in KC).

Hi all this is my first post Sorry that it's a request for assistance I have a problem with my self build HTPC In Volume Asus & STX Essence only control on left Xonar channel win7 - a nutshell since Volume control on left channel only - Asus Xonar Essence STX & win7 yesterday when I adjust the volume in a media player winamp or Jriver only the left channel changes in volume the right channel remains at Both channels were working OK volume worked on L and R however last night all of a sudden the right channel stopped altering I have changed nothing all cables and connections are sound I've check everything I Volume control on left channel only - Asus Xonar Essence STX & win7 can think of within the software and searched on the web for similar problems and can't find a solution This is a screen capture of my windows audio controls When I adjust the Jriver volume control both speakers change volume together yet when I change them in the program only the left channel alters When I change the quot Speaker quot control only the left channel changes Any ideas what I need to so to sort this It's a critical function as it's a HTPC primarily used for music and video playback Thank you very much Edit to add Using a different sound card solves the problem so it's definitely Xonar STX related

A:Volume control on left channel only - Asus Xonar Essence STX & win7

Reseat the Xonar sound card (with the PC powered off, unplug the card then plug back in). This may fix it. If not, reinstall the drivers for the sound card as a next step.

If it still does not work properly, I would suspect a hardware problem in the card.

As of the first of Oct. Asus dropped Nvidia and is going with ATI. The various benches around the Internet sites show the new 9600XT to be (maybe) a little better than the 9600 Pro but the Pro is a better buy. The 9500 Pro is still a better card than either one but not as cheap as the 9600XT($199). Asus link:

Hi, I hope I'm posting in the correct place..
I've just upgraded my comp and I now have:
Bought in the upgrade bundle:
Abit nf7
512 DDR
barton xp 2500+
cpu heatsink + fan
Already had:
gforce ti4600
case with 350W power supply
40 gig and 16 gig hardrive
dvd drive
cdrw drive
floppy disk

The problem I have is that my computer sometimes shuts down randomly and goes into, i think, standby mode....or maybe it's power saving mode. Only way i can turn it back on is to unplug it and wait for a bit.
At first I thought it only happened when I used cpu intensive programs. Championship Manager 4 uses 100% cpu usage all the time, and after a few minutes my pc shuts down.

Recently it had been doing it even when I wasn't doing anything on my pc, and resulted in some files being corrupted and having to reinstall winxp.
Any help appreciated.

There is some malware present in the log. That could possibly be what is causing the problem.

A:KVM switches and Newer Asus Motherboards

I seriously doubt you'll find anyone to "patch" the BIOS without the source code. I gather you don't have any programming background, or you'd know how difficult this would be without the source or any documentation.

I suspect the small demand for KVM capability puts your request pretty far down their priority list. I know that's not an answer you want to hear, but I suspect that's the situation. As far as the engineers being "to lazy to fix it", I say that's pure bollocks, to borrow one of your pet words. Just as in any other job, they have their priorities, and I suspect there are a lot of more pressing issues they're addressing.

Starting about two weeks ago, my laptgop started randomly switching off while using it. Sometimes the screen goes haywire with random colors and lines before switchign off and sometimes the screen just goes dark. The laptop restarts iutself after two/three seconds but the screen remains dark and i either have to long press the power button to switch it off or remove the battery. Please assist with the problem.

Hi,Attempt to perform a hard reset to remove all the excess static using: http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c01684768after this step, i  recommend checking the wall outlet, the light on the charger port (ensure it isn't blinking), attempt to boot to bios using F10 while the pc is restarted, if the issue persists, contact HP on 1800-474-6836 in order to get a repair setup as you could be looking at a motherboard failure.

A:Computer Randomly Switches Off

Hello,

Boot the PC into the BIOS and post the temp and voltage readings.

Install HWMonitor and post a screenshot of the program at idle and while under load.

System shutdowns can usually be attributed to heat or power problems.

I have dsl service through ATT. When I tried to access ESPN360 about a week ago, I could not log in to ESPN360. In trying to resolve the problem with ESPN & ATT tech support, I learned that my IP had been switched to one starting with 99 instead of 76. I was able to reset my computer to a 76 IP. Now I am seeing my IP address being randomly reset to 99.x.x.x. Besides being annoying, is this a problem and how do I stop it?

Hi,
My Dell Inspiron 15R 5520 laptop switches off at completely random times. I've given it for service 3 times and the frustating part is during their testing, it works completely fine so the repair guy can't figure out the problem.
After it switches off, it doesn't boot for a while and just gives black screen and a bunch off beeps. ( 7 of them at intervals)

I did a diagnostic and got a CPU fan error 2000-0511 Validation 130122.

Please let me know what is this issue and how to solve this.
Regards,
Mandar.

A:Laptop switches off randomly

Sounds like the CPU fan is not working -- leading to overheating and shutdown.  Start by replacing the fan:
<<www.parts-people.com/index.php?action=item&id=14456>>(the fan is different depending on whether the system has Intel or AMD video).
If that doesn't solve the problem, the mainboard is the next possible suspect.

Whenever I'm playing high performance games my laptop switches itself off All the signs point to overheating but I think it's something else Firstly I can switch my laptop off immediately after this happens with no obvious ill effects My laptop actually has overheated before and I couldn't switch it on for a good minutes afterwards Secondly the switching off seems to happen somewhat randomly On Saturday my laptop switched itself off at least times however the next day I played Team Fortress for hours straight without any problems and my laptop was a fair bit hotter during the hour session than it ever was during the LAN Party Today it's switching off even more frequently I can't even get minutes of off. A:My laptop randomly switches off.

Welcome to TSF.

I would look into other possibilities of the random restarts. It doesn't look like a malware related issue. Have you ran a memory check yet? Google for memtest and use that tool to run a memory test.

There are probably malware that may cause this kind of issue, but I'm leaning more towards a hardware related issue. Try posting in the hardware board for more help.

I restored my computer to a previous date everything seemed to be working fine but then while playing another game (TF2) it switched off but all the fans and lights where still on. It has done this a few times now with just internet browsing and other non intensive things.

Symptom 1: Xonar D2 Audio Center does not behave normally -> Speaker test does not function. The speaker test function included in Windows under "volume\PlayBack Devices" does function normally.

Symptom 2: Devices within "Playback Devices" are incorrectly named.

How it should look:

How it looks on my computer:

I have tried to install this countless times.

A:Asus Xonar 2D/PM - Playback Devices - Devices Incorrectly Named

Only difference between the D2 and the D2X is one os PCI (D2), and the other is PCI-E (D2X), so you're not missing anything that way. The speaker test not working is something else. You using the latest driver from Asus (Version: 7.12.8.1794), or the one that came on the disk with the card?

Might be worth giving this modded set a try,

ASUS XONAR Unified Drivers 1.64 (post periodically updated) | brainbit

and see if that fixes it. I have a DGX and have only ever used the above since the day I got it as I had seen the reports of how flaky the driver from Asus could be.

Hi all

This isnt an ongoing problem but since ive bought my computer at launch, every month or so, it will randomly switch off, and wont switch back on until ive unplugged the power supply for a couple of minutes then plugged it back in, then it will switch back on and work fine.

Is my power supply failing me? or is it being overloaded or is it another problem

A:Computer Sometimes Switches Off Randomly, Power Supply?

Chances are it is your power supply if it is turning itself off like that, try using a different kettle lead. If that doesn't work, I would replace the power supply unit, it shouldn't be that expensive. Are you getting any error codes before or after the system failure?

EDIT: Saying that, I have seen problems like this before simply from to much dust build up inside the system, causing it to overheat and shut itself down.

Today while typing in notepad, the keyboard suddenly switched from Dvorak keyboard layout to Qwerty. Yesterday Opera did it. Before Opera did it, Open Office did it. When I close the offending program Dvorak is restored.

I am NOT using the language bar and do not have qwerty set as a default layout, Only dvorak.

Is anybody else having this problem and/or know how to prevent it?

A:win 7 64bit RC randomly switches from Dvorak to Qwerty

Try using ctrl-shift. If that causes your keyboard to switch that might be your culprit, not capricious randomness.

I use Qwerty and Dvorak key layouts and this switches between them. Tried to configure with the Regionalization control panel and that doesn't seem to remap this keystroke. It's definitely inconvenient for spreadsheet users.

This is the same laptop that was causing problems way back in October http forums techguy org t html To summarize briefly I got it working again randomly (NOT switches heat-related) Laptop off by removing one of the two RAM chips which was kaput and later installing another Recently however the same machine has begun misbehaving again -- it switches off randomly This is not hibernation or standby the only way to get it going is the reboot After searching the interweb for a Laptop switches off randomly (NOT heat-related) solution I figured the closest answer was probably overheating the fan did seem to be on a lot of the time We purchased a cooling pad which certainly put paid to any heat issues -- and made life a lot quieter -- but the laptop is still randomly shutting off It doesn t seem to be linked to memory load -- it will fail while it is just idling -- and there doesn t seem to be any pattern to the problem it will go days without going belly up and then fail twice in mintes It has a firewall anti-spyware and is anti-virus protected so I m pretty sure this is not mal-ware related All the relevant Windoze XP updates have been done I even increased the size of the partition to make sure it wasn t a pagefile problem My next likely candidate is faulty RAM either the chip that survived s accident has finally begun to lose it or the replacement chip is on the slide Is this likely Or does anyone else have any ideas nbsp

When reading a website, it will switch to another site.  Most recently, it was to this one:

I've run Malware Bytes, adwcleaner, Rogue Killer.  Is it an infection or just adware?  Is there a way to stop it?

Thanks!

A:Screen (website) switches randomly with no warning or action on my part

Well, first, let's get the terminology correct.  Google is not a browser; www.google.com, i.e. Google, is a website, not a browser.  However, Google does make a browser.  It is called Chrome.  Are you using Chrome?

I have recently begun experiencing this problem after updating to Windows although I'm not sure that it's directly related to the update I see that similar questions have been asked on other forums but I see none for The best way to describe the problem Prompt (Windows Active Without Window/Program Switches User 8.1) Randomly is this while using a particular window such as a browser window or word processor window the window will randomly become inactive Sometimes it will switch back to being active automatically other times I have to manually click back into the window to use it again This is especially frustrating when trying to type or use drop-down menus As I type this question I am constantly clicking back into the browser window to keep it active The problem appears not to be specific to any particular program or internet browser but occurs for any window that I happen to be using I don't know if this is relevant but the activity of one particular background process appears to correlate with the timing of the problem The process HPConnectedRemoteService is continually appearing and disappearing from the Task Manager It appears increases gradually to about CPU then disappears Any given active window will become inactive when HPConnectedRemoteService reaches about CPU Again I do not know for sure if this process is involved with the problem though Attached are several screenshots of the processes running in case they can aid in solving this Would really appreciate any help This is incredibly Active Window/Program Switches Randomly Without User Prompt (Windows 8.1) annoying and counterproductive

Hi,
Today when I switched on my computer it began to start up (barely staying on for five seconds) before switching off and repeating the whole process. It does stay on long enough for me to push either esc or f10 and go into computer set up. However i am not too sure what to configure and how and as soon as i exit out of it, my laptop starts the whole on/off process again.

I am not too sure about the specs of my laptop, only that it is an Hp and has windows xp.
Please, what can i do? I would be forever grateful if someone knows how I can fix this..

A:Laptop switches on, begins to start up, switches off then repeats process

If you can post the model of the HP laptop, we can learn more for you.
You should find the model information on a sticker on the bottom of the machine.

It sounds like ESC or f10 will take you to the BIOS configuration utility.
Have you tried f8? You may need to press repeatedly, or press and hold.
This will take you to the option to boot to Safe Mode.
If this is successful, let us know. If not, let us know.

Next... you obviously have internet access from another computer.
There are two utilities you should download and run.
These utilities will check for errors in 1) your memory and 2) your drive.
Since they run outside of windows, trying to run them will give us a good idea if it is a hardware issue, or if it is a problem with your OS. (the f8 question may leave this an open question, but this will help get a definite answer, in addition to trying to isolate hardware faults)

To Test Memory... Using Memtest Please follow this guide...

Please note that (unless you start getting errors reported) you will need to let this run a long time.
A good way of doing this is to let it run over night. In each 'pass" there are a series of eight memory tests that are run, each more complicated than the previous. We used to advise letting it run a minimum of 7 passes, unless you start getting errors. We now advise at least 10 full passes. If you have errors reported, you may want to re-run the test with only one stick of ram installed, checked each stick until you isolate those that are faulty. That way you can limit your replacement to those that actually need it.

Also, I would like for you to run some hard-drive diagnostics, but I need to know more in order to point you to the right tools to download.
I may or may not be able to find out your drive maker from the model information you supply about your laptop.
Sometimes that information may be found in your Bios (bios sometimes detects it).
I will tell you how to determine your drive maker this way, after you tell me more about your laptop.

If I / we cannot determine the drive maker another way, we may need to have you open your drive bay cover.
Is the machine out of warranty? If not, for you to do this next step would void your warranty.
Are you comfortable opening the machine?
Do you understand the hazards of static electricity and know how to avoid damaging your computer with static?
Depending on your answers, I may have additional steps for you before we have you download your drive diagnostics.

hi,

Could anyone explain the difference between domain (controller)switches and full fabric switches? (or direct me to a page/site which would do the job)

Tks

Depends on what context you're talking about. Your statement is a bit "Apples and Gorillas" The two really aren't related to each other.

OK. New to the forum so thanks in advance for any help I can get. I've run sfc /scannow and collected logs as requested. Not sure what's wrong. Only solution offered by Asus support was to do a O/S reinstall. I'd like to avoid that for obvious reasons. HD integrity check is good. I have all windows updates complete. All drivers seem to be up to date.

Anyone see anything fixable in the logs attached?

A:Asus Desktop Crashes Randomly

Hi Ghanner & Welcome to the forums ^_^,

I deeply apologize for the delay caused as we have been very busy

Do you mean your Desktop of ASUS brand crashes and has the Blue Screen Of Death? If yes, then the log file uploaded by you does not contain any dump files to analyse
Please go to C:\Windows\Minidumps\ and then ZIP up all of the dump files and then upload it as an attachment.

If not, then kindly describe your problem in more detail so that I could see what is wrong ^_^.

Let me know how it goes ^_^.

Every so often when the computer is running, a series of beeps (typically four, although sometimes it's more erratic) can be heard through the built-in speakers on the notebook (if I mute the volume, nothing can be heard). Sometimes, it is heard frequently and other times it is seldom heard. Thanks in advance.

I have an ASUS laptop that I beleive has become infected with a virus that is randomly closing down the laptop amp immediately re-booting it The laptop re-boots fine bar it tries to firstly locate a spyhunter fix rather than Laptop ASUS down shuts randomly the option of XP or Vista I can manually locate ASUS Laptop randomly shuts down the XP option amp then log in OK until the problem recurs The laptop works OK for indeterminate periods of time amp tends to shut down when opening or closing down a programme or a file It is for that reason I do not think I have a power supply issue or temperature issue which seem to be common problems I have advanced system care which suggests the laptop is in A condition amp when it is on it works absolutely fine I am suspicious of the spyhunter fix which I think must be rogue I am also unable to access task manager A longer term problem is I cannot run the laptop in safe mode It gets so far then just gets stuck I accept that any help on here may be limited due to this particular problem Most solutions seem to require safe mode From googling my problem a suggestion of SD fix seems to fit the bill except that I have been unable to download this from ANY link Again I am suspicious that this is part of something sinister going on rather than mere coincidence Any help at all would be appreciated Thanks in advance

A:Help Asus x450JN my screen blink randomly

When it does blink, does it go black then back to normal screen ? Now it could be failing hardware, bad connection from hinge to monitor and even possible interference. Also could be the Video adapter drivers are corrupted.

This is the laptop ?
https://www.asus.com/Notebooks_Ultrabooks/X450JN/

I believe from specs shown here it has a NVIDIA Geforce 840M, if you can double check that, go to the Control panel then the Device manager, go to Display adapter left click it, it should tell you there the model.

If it is correct NVIDIA, first thing i would do is uninstall older drivers, either go back to Control Panel in Programs and Features do it there, but first download the latest drivers here NVIDIA DRIVERS GeForce Game Ready Driver WHQL

After uninstall reboot and install one you downloaded, see first if this helps the blinking.

Not too long ago (probably a week and a half), I took my laptop to be serviced and repaired as it was still covered under warranty. However, while some of those problems seems to have been resolved (four beeps and notifications stating that the display driver stopped responding) I noticed that it still has some of the issues from before. The internal fan is occasionally loud, which probably means that the system tends to overheat. When this happen, the notebook freezes up for a few seconds and restarts automatically.

I've been contemplating cracking open the notebook and seeing if the fan is clogged up with dust or whatnot, but I'm not sure what the safest way to go about it is. Thanks in advance.

I actually just started having the samee exact problem as you. The only way I will get the display back is if I either unplug the power adapter and take out the battery then put it back in, or if I wait about half an hour until it restarts many times. I also have another problem when I finally do see the display and log on. Every day or two my display turns all colorful and freezes. That's when i have to do a hard reset and then boom, no display again. If anyone has a solution please help me out here.

Hi,
Specs:
Windows 7 Pro x64

AMD PhenomII x6 1075T
2x WD Caviar blue 250Gg HDD in RAID 0
EVGA NVIDIA GTS 450
8Gb DDR3 1600 G.Skill Ripjaws (4x 2Gb sticks)

My ASUS motherboard will just reboot, or freeze. It happens during BIOS, Booting/installing windows, and when booted from a Linux live flashdrive. I updated the BIOS, it still has the problem. I had my RAM replaced when the old sticks when out back in December, I've been having problems since then. Is it possible the old RAM could have screwed over my motherboard too?
I have heard some say it helps to take the ASUS Q-shield off because it causes a short on the motherboard, but I tried that too.

The board is still covered under warranty, I should be able to get a replacement if it turns out the board is bad.

Any suggestions?

What if you remove the motherboard from the case and boot up?

When you booted up with Linux, did you remove SATA cables to HD and optical drive?

Is your power supply sufficient?

Hi I have an Asus U E laptop About a week ago it had the Cryptowall virus in it and of course all the information was encrypted so I dumped it I re-installed windows from the recovery drive on it From that point I went in and updated all the drivers installed what I needed to to run my car software but just before that it shut down once After it was all installed it kept shutting down roughly every - min I thought maybe due to heat right Tore the laptop down cleaned everything found out that the laptop was running normal temps just the fan is a little loose and its going to need a new one soon Put it all back together windows randomly Laptop install restarting keeps after Asus 7 and same issue Played with the drivers made sure everything was all up to date chkdsk wasn't coming up with anything It wouldn't enter the windows memory diagnostic still won't with new install lots of errors and warnings in the event viewer I just did another install of windows and its doing the same thing Roughly shutting off every min When I turn it back on it says Windows Error Recovery But in safe mode it seems to run a lot longer I'm still testing it right now with the new install but last time I went over hrs and it Asus Laptop keeps randomly restarting after windows 7 install didn't turn off When I went to install windows again I tried to use an install disk which that didn't work I also tryed to use my other computers recovery disk which of course that didn't work either When I tested the hard drive for failure it passed I've downloaded all the programs for crash reports but there is nothing I've disabled all the start up programs still turns off I'm at a loss and need some guidance Added note The computer stayed on perfectly before the install of windows after the virus Right after I reinstalled I have not been able to keep the computer on for over an hour on a normal boot Usually its - min for it to shut off and re-start again quot Windows did not shut down properly quot Thanks

A:Asus Laptop keeps randomly restarting after windows 7 install

New update. Registry files corrupted. Another restore. while restoring its doing the shut down errors. canceled the restore. Cannot boot in safe mode, cannot keep running long enough to finish the restore......AHHHH!

EDIT:crashed in restore-now I have a base windows version.....not many drivers at all. Going to see if it will do its random shutdown like this before I try to re-install(still re-starts). This was from a USB install that I finally got to work a tiny bit.

hey I've had my laptop for about months now and I keep having this random freezing problem where the laptop won't function at all issues, etc. Freezing/Hanging Randomly X750 Asus Kernel - but the last sound will loop a milisecond loop Asus X750 Freezing/Hanging Randomly - Kernel issues, etc. so it sounds like a scream if there is no sound nothing will loop i've been going into the event viewer and have been noticing some errors mistakes warning etc here are some more detailed can be provided if asked Windows Store failed to sync machine licenses Result code x The speed of processor in group is being limited by system firmware The processor has been in this reduced performance state for seconds since the last report processor all have these errors Audit events have been dropped by the transport The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first This error could be caused if the system stopped responding crashed or lost power unexpectedly When i bought it new it hanged up once before i downloaded any real software so i updated my drivers and such and it started becoming less intermittent so then i updated my bios came from asus and it stopped for a while - however within the past days i had restarts because of this in one day edit i have read other posts on here - none of themcan really apply because i don't have those drivers or those anti-virus software installed Windows
