No sound from onboard audio (Realtek High Defition Audio)

Q: No sound from onboard audio (Realtek High Defition Audio)

Hey Guys So here it goes I normally have my Logitech z- speakers connected to the onboard sound output green yellow and black as well Defition sound audio High onboard No Audio) from (Realtek as my Plantronics connected to the front panel USB port I used to be able to play music through any one without any problems just had to select which one I wanted as my default playback device Now my problem is I get audio fine through the but I get no sound what so ever from any of the onboard ports No sound from onboard audio (Realtek High Defition Audio) I have searched online for hours trying all the suggested solutions check below but I'm hoping its not a device failure What's weird is that just like all other posts I've read when I plug anything into the onboard jacks I get the speakers as connected and the audio level moves with sound but I get no output from my speakers What I have tested removing and reinstalling audio drivers from Asus website - no luck trying a headphone in the different jacks to see if any would give audio - no luck went into the BIOS made sure I was up to date and the sound device was enabled - no luck I can post screenshots of anything that may help in trying to resolve this problem and would appreciate anyone assisting me Thank you

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Ravir mate do yourself a favour and install a sound card I have the exact same board and I fitted an Asus Xonar DG after spending a load of time trying to make sense of the Asus site, RealTek site and the Windows feature which are all a crock of crap.
The GUI for the Xonar card is great for sound (up to 7:1 support) and effects and mixing. Best of all it is cheap. I have them in three of my machines and would not be bothered with the onboard rubbish. Sound Cards and Digital-to-Analog Converters - Xonar DG - ASUS

Hello,

I can't install the latest Realtek High Definition Audio Driver WDM_R236 on a Windows XP Pro Machine. The integrated soundcard is Realtek ALC880.
I also have an ATI video card and the ATI HDMI driver installed. Both devices say that they're working properly however there is no sound device under sounds and audio devices properties. There are two instances of Microsoft UAA Bus Driver for High Definition Audio. I've uninstalled/reinstalled the drivers several times and tried many solutions but nothing has worked. I currently don't have sound. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

This is the second time this has happened.

My audio is not working. No output at all. My audio card is motherboard integrated. As said in the title, it is Realtek High Definition Audio (Speakers). Like I also said, this is the second time this has happened. Last time, I reinstalled my drivers and I was good to go. This time, however, I have reinstalled the drivers 3 times to no avail. When I plug in headphones and externals speakers, though, the audio works. Anyone got any suggestions?

Thanks,
Lucas

I'll give you on No PC Driver) Sound Definition High Audio (Realtek guys the full story with as much information as possible to make this as easy as possible Yesterday i installed a game however when i went to play i got a message saying my 'Sound-Driver was No Sound on PC (Realtek High Definition Audio Driver) occupied by another application and i needed to close that application in order to play the game' Trying to figure out this problem i visit multiple websites and many people tell me to delete the sound drivers No Sound on PC (Realtek High Definition Audio Driver) from my PC and re-install them The only problem was i had no CD that came with my laptop so i had to find the drivers online I went to Acer com and put in my model number and found the right laptop I went to the Audio tab and driver options came up Not knowing which was the right one i downloaded installed them all Before we go any further ill give the spec's of my PC and what driver i deleted Manufacturer Acer Model Aspire V - System type bit operating system To delete my drivers i went to Start gt Right click on my computer gt Properties gt Device Manager gt Sound Video Game Controllers tab and then right clicked the driver and clicked remove The two Drivers that came up under the 'Sound Video Game Controllers' tab were - Intel R Display Audio - Realtek High definition Audio I deleted this one because this is my sound Once i deleted this Realtek Audio driver i lost sound instantly which was expected and proceeded to download the drivers from the Acer Website Here is the link to the website and the drivers i downloaded Acer Support Downloads amp Support Documents Once i downloaded all drivers i restart my PC and when it starts back up again in the bottom right of my task bar the device manager icon pops up and it tells me a new device is being installed I click it and a little window pops up and says the 'Audio Device on High definition Audio Bus' is being installed However after i wait a few minutes the install has failed and i click OK and nothing has changed I'm still left with no sound So i check the Sound Video and Game Controllers tab under device manager again and instead of 'Realtek High Definition Audio' being there 'Audio Device on High definition Audio Bus' is under that tab but has a yellow explanation mark on it Note it was not there before i deleted the Realtek driver it just appeared after i deleted the driver I continue to go on the internet to find a 'Audio Device on High definition Audio Bus' driver but i can't find anything Additional information - I also went to the realtek website Realtek and went to drivers and utilities and downloaded the bit window driver executable files but again once i install and re-start my PC the same thing happens as before It says the Audio Device and High definition Audio bus is being installed but then it fails again - I also just downloaded installed the newest chipset driver but that hasn't changed anything i really didn't think it would but it was worth a try - Also maybe i am just not installing the Drivers properly I download the drivers from Acer and extracted the file into a folder I click the setup button and the Realtek blue screen pops up and i click next next next etc and install and then it says 'would you like to restart your computer' at the end and then its finished This is pretty much the full story and i haven't left anything out as far as i can remember If i need to provide additional information just message me and i will provide it It would be great if i could get this fixed so i can try and figure out the other problem with my game Thank you in advance -Conwork

A:No Sound on PC (Realtek High Definition Audio Driver)

So today i downloaded Assassins Creed 1 and proceeded to install. The installation worked fine and when i click the Assassins Creed Icon on my desktop i get this message:

"Your Sound-Driver is currently used by an other application. Close any application using your Sound-Driver and try again... else you'll not be able to hear and sounds or musics."

I looked in Device manager under the 'Sound' tab and my sound drivers are working fine. I have sound and haven't even had a sound problem since i got this PC. I thought it might have been the download but i downloaded a bunch of different ones and i keep getting the same message. Any help would be amazing. Here are my specs:

Manufacturer: Acer
Model: Aspire V3-571
RAM: 6GB
System type: 64 bit

I don't see how re-installing my sound drivers would fix this problem because everything works fine... so instead of suggesting that lets try something else.

Assuming you have a Win 7 (or Vista) RealTek driver installed.

Go to the Device Manager, RIGHT click on the RealTek entry and then LEFT click "uninstall". DO NOT check the box to also uninstall the drivers. Restart the PC and when Windows starts it will detect and reinstall the sound. If there were some type of corruption between RealTek and Windows this will fix it.

First off, I will not claim to be technologically gifted, so please be patient;

I've had a reoccurring issue with my Asus Laptop. Whenever I play music it starts to make this strange guttural sound, accompanied by bouts of freezing and frustratingly slow speeds and responses from my computer. It sounds incredibly similar to this youtube video I found researching my issue. ASUS G73 laptop stops and makes weird noise for a second (couple of times.) - YouTube

I've used my included recovery disk, and that fixed the problem for a couple months. But the problem returned, and at a loss for what to do, I decided to try to uninstall my sound driver, with the intention of reinstalling it. I restarted and was presented with a new driver "High Definition Audio Device." I don't want to irreversibly destroy anything by continuing this blind voyage. What do I do next? Is it my sound card at all?

its microsoft driver for HD audio device you should not worry. your device is still the same but with microsoft driver.. if you reinstal realtek driver, device name should be back from generic Hd audio.
but if you have problems with your realtek driver please try to download new version..
you can find information here Latest Realtek HD Audio Driver Version
or stick with microsoft driver (you will lose some functionality compared to realtek driver but sound shuld work) and maybe it will solve you problem.

What is the Problem know please can anyone help me ?

Do you have the VIA HD Audio Deck installed with your sound driver. It may be in the control panel, systray or not installed. It should be compatible with your realtek onboard audio. I usually have more luck using this to configure my speaker setup than windows as in may versions it supports jack switching.

I think my question is this how do I set up VSX- a Pioneer AVR in Control Panel Sound and Hardware Sound so that its driver is Realtek HD Audio and not the Intel Display Audio one In Device Manager under Sound Video and game controllers I have two sound card drivers Realtek High Definition and Intel Display Audio I don't understand Audio Realtek Definition and High Intel Display Audio how Realtek High Definition Audio drivers work in relation to the Intel Display Audio drivers If I go to Control Panel Hardware and Sound Sound then Playback there are four options as you can see from the picture below I'm guessing that if I choose Realtek High Definition Audio and Intel Display Audio the receiver as my default device that I'm using the Intel Display Audio drivers and any of the other three options that I'm using the Realtek drivers Is this correct If the receiver is the default device everything works fine I Realtek High Definition Audio and Intel Display Audio get sound from sites like cnn com and I can listen to internet radio etc However if Speakers are the default device I don't get sound Is this normal If so what's the reason for having Realtek If it isn't normal will I notice a difference if I use the Realtek drivers If I would see hear a difference how do I get them to work

A:Realtek High Definition Audio and Intel Display Audio

The RealTek is for the regular PC sound. The Intel Display Audio is for HDMI sound. If an HDMI cable is plugged in Windows will automatically default to the HDMI as the "default playback device". If you have an HDMI cable plugged in and want the PC sound you must manually change the playback device. If you want both HDMI and PC audio, you can't have that as Windows will only allow one default audio playback device.

Does this answer the question?

Hello,

I have Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit and I have a problem with sound. When I plug my speakers in front panel I have output audio, but in back panel I don't.

My Audio Manager looks like this, but front panel is enabled and back panel is disabled. It does not recognize back (ANALOG) jack.

I tried with settings in this manager but without success, I cheked Control Panel > Sound and followed instructions but still no sound if speakers is in back panel. What to do?

Sorry for bad english

Once upon a time, on a system I used to own, I recall a way to make the sound coming from the speaker jack different than the headset jack. For example: I could play Pandora through my desktop speakers but only hear Ventrillo in my headset. Is this still possible? I can't figure it out.

A:Realtek Onboard HD Audio

You can select the output of Ventrillo to go to your headset, while the output of Pandora to go to the speakers, yes.

The settings to do so should be available in Ventrillo. Just tell it to have the output go to your headset.

A:realtek high definition audio and high definition audio device problem

First, the AMD High Definition Audio Device is ONLY for HDMI audio. It has nothing to do with the PC audio (speakers and/or headset).

Are you sure it was a BIOS update? Those are normally not automatic. The BIOS is the heart of the PC and controls the hardware configurations.

The basic Windows installed High Definition Audio Coded/Device is a generic audio driver. It can be installed for the PC audio and/or the HDMI audio. As this is a generic, basic function driver, the correct hardware driver needs to be installed.

Without the actual HP model number, I can't research what actually belongs on your PC. Apparently it is RealTek, but as it isn't functioning properly, or conflicting I still need to research the PC's specs.

Is anyone having a problem with their ALC658 chipset? I bought a motherboard that came out of a Compaq with that chipset and am having no luck using the Realtek drivers. No audio whatsoever. Also, I'm trying to manually install the .inf files and Windows 7 doesn't recognize any devices to install from the .infs in the drivers which say they support ALC658. Any help would be appreciated.

If you hadn't already, I would've suggested that you get the latest drivers. However since that didn't work, I'd just suggest taking it to the place you got it, and asking them to order a replacement.

Hi All,

I've just joined and need to update my profile with my hardware details but for the moment I'll just say it's in relation to my A-Bit motherboard and the Realtek AC97 on board audio.

When trying to capture audio streams from Monty Python's Holy Grail (Camelot song) I noticed that there is only what can be described as a "wee-woo"in in the background.

Usually this noise is un-noticable but increasing the volume and editing the wave causes this to become really prominent.

Can anyone tell me if this is a standard problem with the onboard sound or if this is something I can resolve by updating the drivers?

Hope someone can help as it's really annoying.

Thanks.

Have you tried testing with a different set of speakers? A different sound card? Do you have any red or yellow flags in your device manager?

See my response to your other post. If you want to use the Creative PCI sound card, you must disable the Integrated Audio (RealTek) in the BIOS or there will be conflicts and problems.

Hello,

I've recently bought a new headset for my Skype telephone, and I don't want to unplug it from the front jacks each time I finish a call to get the sound back to my rear speaker jacks. I've seen Realtek having a so-called Multistreaming ability, and I'd like some insights on if this is really working good, and if so, how to configure it properly, and not mess it all up...
Thanks

A:Realtek ALC888 Onboard audio multistreaming

Well, some options may be available on the Playback devices dialog-Communications tab.

But the Realtek mixer can be started in the Control Panel and perhaps in the Advanced Device settings you will see a check mark for "Mute rear with front headphone plugged in" and "Make front and rear output devices playback two different audio streams".

You might remove the solved notation on the thread so folks don't think you have a solution.

I installed Windows 7 Pro x64 and did all the updates but no sound. I have tried installing the latest drivers for the 64bit for the Realtek ALC883 but it still did not work. I did not think it would since Windows 7 is not detecting the onboard audio device. I have tried disabling the audio hardware in the bios and booting to windows then doing restart and re-enabling the onboard sound in bios and booting to windows. It is still not being detected by Windows 7 Pro x64. Any ideas?

Thanks for any help you can provide

For a point of reference I checked this thread first I'm having a similar issue to what is listed here Even RealTek Onboard HD even Audio static, gives when muted. when all my sound is muted I have this distinct buzzing sound when I plug into my front jack I've tried it with three different headphones and two different sets of speakers I do not have this issue when I am connected to the rear port but I do if I run the quot Audio Manager quot and retask the front rear input I have followed everything the threadstarter has including what Fireberd recommended about resetting the IRQ and I am still running into the issue I have even looked into the BIOS to see if there was something I could adjust there and nothing I also found something about PC Beep but I was unable to get that working as well Also I think it's worth mentioning that like in the above thread I don't have any sound issues until Windows starts specifically once the four dots on the Windows Loading screen becomes the WinLogo I've tried everything mentioned in this thread and I've even Googled the Audio Codec RealTek HD Audio Onboard gives static, even when muted. to see if I can download something different to no avail I'm at my wit's end as I've had this computer for all of a week and I don't want to have to send it back to the manufacturer if it's at all possible though since I hear it even when RealTek HD Audio Onboard gives static, even when muted. muted I'm not sure that's a possibility at this point For the sake of ease I'm including my system specs although I also have most of them posted in my profile Please advise as I am pretty frustrated - usually I'm the one answering these kinds of questions If more information is needed please let me know ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- x Case NZXT Vulcan Gaming Case - Orange x Processor AMD FX- CPU x GHz MB L Cache x Motherboard ASUS M A -M x Memory GB GB X DDR - Memory Module - Corsair or Major Brand - FREE Upgrade to RealTek HD Audio Onboard gives static, even when muted. A:RealTek HD Audio Onboard gives static, even when muted.

I have similar problem with Realtek High Definition Audio Chipset ALC888S on HP Pavillion Motherboard. I get a constant popping sound and garbled audio.

I have Altec Speaker setup with two front, two rear and woofre speaker setup and I connect Realtek Audio output via SPDIF Coax Cable.

I have loaded latest Drivers from RealTek Site R 268 Version # 6.0.1.6602.

The control panel "Realtek HD Audio Manger's display results seem to be confused with the display results from the Control Panel Sound Card. The former says I have a digital Output SPDIF Connection but the latter expects me to connect my speakers via analog connectors which I do not have because I have AN Altec Lansing setup described above using the SPDIF (Digital Mutli_Channel Audio Format) digital output connection.

Does anyone know what is going on?

Hello there,
i have a Asus IPIBL-LB motherboard with realtek ALC888S audio onboard, since a few days ago, after i did a clean instalations of windows 7 ultimate 64, the sound board was detected and windows install it, no problems, BUT... i don not hear anything when i went to the Sound properties the default device is Realtek Digital Audio, i have two RCA also, but i only use analog ones, black, green, orange cables from my 5.1 speakers, but now for some reason in the audio properties, the speakers are not detected, and in the Audio Realtek Manager, the right side, only the digital are shown as detected not the analog.

I already thied to install newest drivers available, for like 5 times, and no diference.

Could someone help me?

A:Realtek ALC888S onboard audio, no analog detected

Open the Sound panel, click the Playback tab and right click anywhere in the box. See if "Show Disabled Devices" and "Show Disconnected Devices" are both checked. If not, click on the boxes to Check Mark. If Speakers show up in the device list, right click then click Set as Default Device.

Answered on your other duplicate post. To get speaker or headphone audio you need to set the "Speakers" as the default audio playback device.

Hello,

Starting about a week ago whenever any audio is being played through my computer (speaker or headphone) I will hear a buzzing sound and occasionally the audio with skip. This happens weather I am playing audio that is being streamed from the internet or that is on my computer directly.

I have tried several things to fix this problem including installing all windows updates that are available as well as updating my audio drivers.

I am running windows 7 home premium 64 bit. My computer model is hp pavilion dv7t quad 6100 and I have IDT high definition audio codec driver version 6.10.6381.0 which my computer says is the latest driver version. Updating to this version has not solved the problem, however.

Any help with this problem would be greatly appreciated. If there is additional info that is neccesary, please let me know and I will post it.

A:IDT High Def Audio, buzzing sound when playing any sort of audio.

Unplug the speakers from the PC and see if you still get the buzz with headphones. Some "buzz" problems can be related to "AC power ground loop" problems if some separately powered devices are connected.

Noise and skipping are problems that have been posted here before. There is no "one fix" for that. There are possible hardware problems, drivers (including video drivers), Interrupt issues, Wi Fi caused, etc.

Skipping can be because the other device that is on the shared Interrupt that the sound is on is interrupting the sound. Sound is always on a shared interrupt (IRQ) with a higher priority device. You can try this: go to the Device Manager, RIGHT click on the entry for the IDT and then LEFT click "Uninstall". DO NOT check the box to uninstall the drivers. Then restart the PC and when Windows starts it will detect the sound and reinstall it and some times put it on a different shared IRQ.

Dear helpful people

I was uninstalling some programs last night, and I somehow accidentally uninstalled my audio driver. Now whenever I turn on my PC, it says there is a new audio device on high definition audio bus, but that it can't find the driver for it. All advice on other sites said to download and install RealTek, which I have and restated my computer, but I still get the "not finding the driver" error. Is there some step I am forgetting to do, or could there be something else wrong?

I assume you need more details, but I am not sure what to give, just ask and I will get them to you right away.

A:No sound from audio device on high definition audio bus

I have now found out that device is SoundMAX Integrated Digital HD Audio, but now whenever I try and install the setup for the driver, I get an error saying
"The audio Driver files do not support your computer hardware"

I am starting to think I uninstalled something really important, do you have any idea what I should check to ensure all the proper audio files are there, or how to replace them?

A:Realtek & high definition audio?

You should either "rollback" the drivers to RealTek or reinstall RealTek. Usually, the "High Definition Audio" is a generic driver that Windows (Microsoft) provides. Do not allow Windows to automatically update/install the sound driver (some of the other drivers are OK).

If you want to try the rollback first, to to the Device Manager, and the properties for the sound device. Click the Driver Tab and then Click the Roll Back button.

I'm not exactly sure how it happened but I lost my sound.

I installed the High Def Audio Codecs from the Realtek website and executed that - nothing.
I uninstalled the device and went to add new devices - it found the device, and still didnt work.
The exact description of the problem is -
Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)
Click Troubleshoot to start the troubleshooter for this device.
Theres a ton of things in the sound, video and game controllers that have yellow exclamation marks by them. And I need the sound before I go back to college.
Someone please help!

Hi,

My microphones aren't working with the Realtek sound card, I've tried different mics including a brand new one and the build in one on the laptop. I've also searched Google for the common problems and can't seem to find any answers.

The drivers are up to date, the microphone is enabled and set as default in the sounds panel and volume turned up to full.

My mics have worked in the past (about a year or so ago now). They also work with old drivers dating back to 2005 that are installed when I click roll back drivers in the sound options, but the sound quality makes my ears bleed, so that isn't an option.

tl;dr
Mic isn't working with Realtek sound card, tried everything.

A:Mic problem with Realtek High Def. audio

Firstly,do make sure your mic is workable(try on another PC);
Secondly, please uninstall your audio driver in control panel->programs and features->realtek ...(if your PC using Windows 7 OS)
then try your mic: if could work normally with MS inbox audio driver,you know, that maybe you didn't install the right audio driver for you PC or do right setting for your mic;
otherwise that would be bad news your audio chip on mother board maybe damaged.

A:RealTek High Definition Audio problems

Each port has it's own use. Check the motherboard User Manual for specifics.

With that said, the "green" port is the standard audio out port. This is where you would connect your speakers or headphones to hear the audio. It is a standard stereo output or in multi-channel mode, the front left/right.

Did the front panel ports ever work? They need to be connected to the proper outputs on the motherboard.

If they have worked in the past and/or they are properly connected, then you most likely have a driver issue. Several of the Realtek chipsets do not work well with Win7, especially 64bit.

I have a new Dell PC that has Realtek High Definition Audio. As best as I can describe it, while watching videos or in a game, it periodically and with no particular intervals of time, will momentarily (no more than a second) pause and I'll hear a buzz. A:Realtek High Definition Audio problem

That sounds like what a bad speaker or speaker connection would do. Do you have a headphone you can connect to the headphone jack (or the rear GREEN speaker jack) and see if does it with the headphone? That would help to isolate the problem.

We have also seen audio problems caused by wi-fi or a cell phone or cordless phone close to the PC/speakers.

Hi,
I have a Dell Laptop (Inspiron 5558 Signature Edition) Windows 10.

Recently I turned on my laptop to find a red 'X' on my audio. I tried to fix this by downloading a new driver, but instead of having one 'High Definition Audio Device' and one 'Realtek', I now have two High Definition Audio Devices and the Realtek one is completely gone.

I don't know what Realtek Driver I had before and I don't know how to fix this.

My audio now has an echo and some audio comes out of my speakers rather than my headphones, even when I have my headphones plugged in.

How do I find out what Realtek Audio Driver I had before and how do I replace one of my High Definition Audio Devices with it?

Hello,

Recently, I installed this Windows XP Professional SP2 on my comp. Once done, I am not been able to install my audio drivers for Realtek High Definition Audio. I couldn't understand what the problem is. Before, they were working fine, now since I had re-installed the Windows again, the whole thing came into being. I had done reinstalling the Windows several times now.

The drivers for the device are installed. But it says the device cannot start.[Code 10].

I had done loads of things, such as :

1. Reinstalling the drivers after uninstalling the same.
2. Rebooting as appropriate.
3. Surf through different sites to check, what best I can do, to tackle the whole thing. But nothing so far.

Hopefully someone be able to tell me, what to do.....

I need my sound back, as my work is completely hung up without it.....

Thankx......

In PLII Music, Movie mode the rear speakers are slightly distorted.
The questions are:
This is a driver issue?
How can I fix this?
I've tried almost everything but still nothing..

Weak, welcome to the Seven Forums.

Are you using the analogue or digital connection? With those speakers and using onboard sound, you would probably be better off using the digital connection, as the speakers are liable to have a better DAC in them than the onboard audio.

Quote:
This is a driver issue?

Quite possibly is you tried and/or managed to install the Realtek drivers based on what you have listed in your specs. You show it as the AC'97 when your motherboard has the Realtek HD,

http://www.asus.com/Product.aspx?P_ID=m4cR4iaPdABNLtQa

of which you can find links for the latest version here,

P.S. If you really want to get the most out of those speakers, you should look into getting a decent sound card and use the analogue connections on it.

Hi all.I upgrade from Window 7 Ultimate to Windows 10 Pro.As part of this upgrade I tried to turn on Cortana so that it would speak to me but all I got was the message to the effect, Cortana may not work with/recognise Realtek audio. As it stands, my voice input is via a desktop microphone which works well with Skype. Here I am totally lost, how/what can I do to get some program that is recognized by Cortana?"Thinking hurts my head that's why I live in West Australia"

A:Realtek High Definition Audio Troubles - Not Detecting Anything

High Definition Audio Device suggests a generic Windows installed sound driver rather than the RealTek driver.

Make sure you are getting the correct driver, either Vista or Windows 7 for 64 bit OS, from the PC or motherboard vendor's site. Windows XP drivers are not compatible. If you get the warning on a valid driver, click the Install anyway and it should install.

Get your thinking caps on, this ones a cracker!

I recently purchased a second-hand Intel D915GAG Motherboard to replace a dead board, and everything has gone perfectly until it came to installing audio drivers for the Realtek High Definition Audio, which is on-board.
The drivers installed without a problem, and Device manager reports that the device is working properly, and that the drivers are up-to-date.
However, the Sounds and Audio Devices properties are telling me different, claiming that no audio device is installed! Only Device manager seems to know the audio drivers are there. I have tried everything i can think of, but have hit the wall....so any help at all will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Hi, I recently upgraded my Yoga 2 Pro to Windows 10 and was excited to try Cortana but unfortunately I could not get it to recognize my voice. It turns out that the microphone level with the Windows 10 Realtek High Definition Audio drivers is abismally low. This also causes a problem with Skype and Google Hangouts. I have tried every driver I could find (Realtek.tw, Microsoft Updates catalog server, etc) and none of them resolved the problem. I also tried the "generic" High Definition Audio driver and that also did not work. Has anyone else experieced this problem and if so, has anyone found a solution? Thanks.

Hi there,
I wonder if there is any sure way to check if the pc's onboard audio is really dead? I've check the main sound source and found the front  and rear speakers output are both grey out. I also ran the services.msc and under windows audio, it is set to auto.
Is there no other way to get sound out of my pc except to install a pci sound adapter?

Thanks.

A:onboard audio no sound

Have you checked what the status of your sound device is in Device Manager?   Have you attempted to uninstall its current driver, uninstall the device itself, and then perform a Scan for New Hardware to see if a newer/better driver is available?  If that didn't work, have you first checked the support site for your computer manufacturer to see if they have an updated driver and, if not, the manufacturer of the sound card?

Give all these things a try at a minimum before declaring the hardware dead.

After discovering that my beloved HT Omega Claro Plus soundcard
cannot be installed on my new mb due to the lack of PCI slots, I decided to
go with the onboard until I get a new card.

I enabled onboard audio in the BIOS, downloaded and installed the
latest drivers, went to Control Panel > Sound and set the device as
default. Then I sent thru the Realtec software and set up the audio.

I connected a Corsair 3-pc set and I get absolutely no sound. I can
see signal getting to winamp and cooledit pro, but can't hear a thing.
I then hooked up and known-working el cheapo set of speakers and
still no sound.

Nothing is in mute and everything seems good to go. I've spent an
hour poking around to no avail. Can anyone suggest something I may
be missing? (I'm beginning to wonder if the onboard audio might just
be flakey.)

Thanks!

A:Onboard Audio - no sound

Check the Device Manager, Sound section and see what is listed. You should have the RealTek (assuming that is what you have) and possibly NVIDIA HDMI Audio. If there are others disable (or uninstall them) in the Device Manager, restart the PC and see if that helps. May be good to Post a screenshot of the Device Manager, Sound section.

Screenshots and Files - Upload and Post in Seven Forums

The "Speakers" should be set as the Default Playback Device. Stereo Mix as the default Recording Device.

I had an HT Omega Striker 7.1, which is PCI on my old system. When I built my new system, I just went with the RealTek and don't really miss the Omega sound card. I have a recording studio and have high end audio for that, but for PC audio the RealTek is satisfactory for me.

What do you show in the Device Manager, for sound devices? You should only have two, the AMD HDMI and the RealTek. If you have the generic Windows installed HD Audio Codec, uninstall that, then restart the PC and see if that changes anything.

Hello and welcome Fernando is this the driver you are using for the board
ASRock > N68C-GS FX (second down from top) ? and you might even need to dothe chipset driver too

If you are then maybe the board has a fault mate.

The other suggestion I would make but it would only give you the back panel option is a sound card I use the Asus Xonar DG and it ha a very good GUI for mixing and such. Sound Cards and Digital-to-Analog Converters - Xonar DG - ASUS

Was the sound working before the new driver? If it was, I would go into the "device manager" and find the device, go to the driver tab and "roll back driver" this should at least get it working again then try to find out why the new driver will not work.

You may also try different speakers, headphones, ect to see if you have a bad cable or connection somewhere.

You may also go into the BIOS and see if the onboard sound is enabled if you have the option. Maybe someone gained access and disabled it.

Hopefully something here works.

It's been a year since I migrated from Windows XP to Windows 7 which I downloaded Realtek HD Audio Manager R2.70 and audio has been working fine except the only issue it didn't come with 'Stereo Mix' preventing capability to record sound direct from the soundcard. It took me 14 months to restore Stereo Mix as each time I was told to update audio drivers I would update HD Audio Manager so what is the difference between these two Realtek ?

I installed Realtek HD Audio Driver R2.72 last night and it restored Stereo Mix which now enables me to record system sound whilst using screen recorders.

Thanks

I installed Realtek HD Audio Driver R2.72 last night and it restored Stereo Mix which now enables me to record system sound whilst using screen recorders.

Thanks

Realtek HD Audio Manager is a software driver used on Windows computers. It handles recording and playback of audio programs. It is required for many audio programs to operate.

While Realtek HD Audio Drivers is a tool that allows you to listen to audio in HD on your PC.

Stereo Mix is used to transfer audio that the PC is playing to recording software such as Audacity, so that you can record what you?re hearing.

When one upgrade their OS like in your case from XP to Win7 with the same motherboard and sound card it is always advised & recommended to download the latest soundcard driver, because the only thing that had changed was the operating system.

The advice is not to go to windows for it, but to go to the motherboard manufacturer, because it would be specialised for the system rather than a generic driver, which might not be as good, or even cause problems.

Hi

I recently installed the program, Driver Sweeper, which picked up a problem with my audio driver, Realtek High Definition Audio after my speakers had been making some static sounds while playing audio. After running Driver Sweeper and cleaning the driver I restarted the computer.

When I returned to windows my driver had been uninstalled. Windows ran a troubleshooter when I clicked on the volume controls. Then it automatically installed the same driver back again. My speakers continue to make the same sounds after this and if I run Driver Sweeper again the same thing happens again. I'm not sure whether I should install a different audio driver or something.

Thanks for the help

The title says it all. I recently started playing Medal of Honor and Battlefield: Bad Company 2 and on both games I get a frozen screen with looping audio which forces me to shut the computer down via the power button.

after doing some searching around on the net and trying various solutions, I have determined the next step is to disable on board sound. I know this sounds like a noobish question but, is there any way to get sound out of my computer? is there a BIOS setting that allows me to disable the on board sound but still get sound out my PC? these 2 games rely heavily on being able to hear what is going on,

I have an ABIT IP35 Pro with no secondary sound card.

thanks.

A:Can I get audio if I turn onboard sound off without a sound card?

No that'd be impossible. if you turn off the onboard sound, how are you gonna get some sound delivered to your speaker or headphone?

you should try disabling the onboard sound and check if it fixes the issue. if it did, also try to uninstall your current audio driver and install the newest one.

looping audio does not always means the onboard sound is faulty. it usually goes on loop because that portion of the soundtrack is already loaded into RAM. therefore it still plays even when the computer froze.

the problem might lies in other thing such as video card or overheating CPU since you indicate it only occurs when you're playing games.

I used to be able to play bf1942 with audio, but the system would freeze to the point where ctrl-alt-del would do nothing. I reinstalled, and now have no audio output in the game, but the system stopped freezing. I've played without audio for an hour with no other problems. I've tried most of the configuration settings in the game, and sound works fine when not in the game. Any ideas?

Could you please advise whether I will achieve better sound quality by using the onboard Realtek HD Audio connection that is part of my Asus Motherboard or by reinstalling my Creative X-Fi Xtreme Music Sound Card or doesn't it make any difference?

With the onboard HD Audio I have a digital optical cable running from the Motherboard to the optical connection of the Logitech 'Digital SoundTouch Control Centre' that came with the speakers.

With the Creative SoundCard, I connect a Creative IO Module from the SoundCard and then an optical cable from the I/O Module to the speaker control centre.

Both ways allow me to play music DVD's etc. in Digital Theatre Sound (DTS) or 5.1 Digital Surround Sound, but I was just wondering if one connection was better than the other?

Thank you in advance for your assistance.

With Kindest Regards

A:RE: Onboard HD Audio or Creative X-Fi Sound Card???

I've found that there are pros and cons with each option:

I was using a X-fi Fatal1ty Pro that was mostly stable. Ocassionally I'd get a strange tone being emitted from the card, but not on a regular basis. The big pluses were very good sound quality and reduced CPU workload during sound playback.

Whereas, with my onboard Intel HD Audio I'm finding the entire system to be more responsive, the sound quality while quite good isn't as good as creative's card. Also, CPU workload has increased a lot.

Notable; is that the intel solution is a complete 64 bit software package, whereas creative mixes a 64 bit driver with 3 32 bit support processes and audio controller. I believe creative needs to improve their driver and software with respect to compliance to microsoft specs, and I won't be at all surprised if vista SP1 refuses to work with them.

I have window 98se, pen3, 256mem, 12gb hd, intel mb/ model D815EEA that has onboard audio (the sound does not work at this point).

I want to add a sound card in the PCI slot. What would be the best way to do this? Do I need to do anything in the BIOS?

Thanks for any and all help

A:adding a sound card to a mb w/onboard audio

Yes, there should be an option in the BIOS to disable the onboard sound. You may need to do this so that there will not be a resourse conflict..ie.. IRQ, I/O...
Then after you disable it in the BIOS, then reboot, shut down, install card, reboot, go into BIOS, save changes and exit. Then, the PC will reboot. Watch on POST to see if the new sound card is seen... Then if it is, you may only need to install the drivers manually if plug and play doesn't pick it up as seen with the "New hardware found" wizard that should come to life on the initial boot after the new card is installed.

Never heard of getting a shock from a case. Did you put the ground wire on before or after this happened? Double check your Sound Properties in the Control panel and make sure there isn't anything muted.

A:XPS720 Sound Failure Windows 7, onboard audio

As both the Sigmatel and Diamond sound cards do not work AND the USB headset does not work, suggests some other problem is causing the sound not to work, and not actually the sound hardware.

The USB headset does not use the PC's sound cards, just takes the digital audio, the same as what would be fed to the sound cards and processes it.

Hey folks In trying to solve my mic issues I ve decided to make the jump from my ASUS P B s onboard audio Soundmax a the Dynex just than Is sound card onboard audio? discontinued better HD to a rd party sound card Money s tight and I ve heard from enough Is a discontinued Dynex sound card better than just the onboard audio? people that even a cheaper card will still be an improvement in terms of performance less strain on my CPU during games etc and a reduction in sound interference on the microphone my biggest problem right now I went to Bestbuy The bottom of their sound card barrel was a Dynex then a Dynex both under and my next option was a Creative card Is a discontinued Dynex sound card better than just the onboard audio? I went for the better of the two Dynex cards Came Is a discontinued Dynex sound card better than just the onboard audio? home and began the process of installing it I ve done a fair bit of surgery on my PC by myself but I m still not that knowledgable and discovered that the manual was telling me to connect some cables to the card which I haven t had to do with past sound cards I ve owned in older computers I don t care about any front ports like headphone or mic but are any of the other connections essential Things like S PDIF and something called quot game port quot I don t even know what that is or where I d find it on my mobo If I need to connect the DVD drive I have a problem because the bundle of wires that goes from the power source to the DVD and then out from there doesn t reach the soundcard mainly because I have to install it upside down because of which side my mobo attaches to my case on In trying to research this card I ve discovered that it s discontinued I m a bit annoyed with Bestbuy for selling a discontinued card and not saying anything about that So I have the drivers that come with it but there don t appear to be any updates available The Dynex site doesn t offer any drivers for it at all So aside from my general need for info and guidance this is my main issue If price is a concern should I just install this Dynex card and use the drivers that it came with and I should be okay keeping in mind that I run new and cutting edge games or will I encounter major problems because of a cheap card and out-of-date drivers that can t be updated My secondary question is the one about whether or not any of the connections the manual mentions are essential or if the card will work just from being seated in the PCI slot Thanks Happy holidays nbsp

A:Is a discontinued Dynex sound card better than just the onboard audio?

I have never heard of that card but I can tell you that spdif is a digital audio out that you wont need unless you have an amplifier that has spdif in on it and that the game port is very old technology and you wont need that either unless you have an old game-pad that you want to use.

If the problem with your on-board sound is just that the mic alone wont work then uninstall the audio driver in device manager and re-install it. I had the exact same problem 3 days ago with my on-board sound on my asus mobo and what I just suggested fixed it.

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling, still no sound. I have checked in device manager and everything says the driver is working properly. I have also checked to make sure I have the most up to date driver installed, and still no sound. I have a Realtek High Defininition Audio card that came installed factory on the computer.

And of course I have checked to make sure I have all wires hooked up correctly.

I plugged in some speakers to hear better for a movie, and when i took them out my computer had no sound. CHecked all the setting, everything is up and not muted but when i open the control deck it's on zero and if i turn it up, that doea nothing and it goes back to zero if i close it and open it again. In the windows settings, the realtek audio device is set as default, so thats not the problem either. It was working perfectly fine before, but something is wrong. And yes, I tried to restart.

Any help would be appreciated
Thanks,

A:Bad sound from Realtek HD Audio

Hello Roy.

I have the same onboard audio (or close) and it works great for me. Try opening up the settings, and setting the rear speaker to the front speakers. That might help. Also open up the equalizer, and check the settings. Make sure that it is one of the preset settings. I would also check to make sure it is plugged in correctly. They are all colour coded so it should be easy. Let us know what works.
