I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A:Laptop Problems; Samsung Ultrabook Series 5

This sort of problem is tough to troubleshoot over the internet. It could be quite a few things that could cause the symptoms that you're experiencing. With that said, I'd probably start with updating the discrete GPU drivers. Since you did switch from integrated to discrete, this could be the main cause for the graphic glitches which is probably crashing the system.

Moving forward, I think you should download something like CPU-Z to monitor the CPU load and temperatures during the crashes. It could be that your CPU is overheating and could use some attention.

A:AMD Radeon Rx 300 series rumored to include many rebranded cards

It saves money on R&D and manufacturing as you don't have to research anything new or get in/ change any equipment which is good for the business as it's saving costs, but it is poor for technology and comes across as incredibly lazy. It's 2015 and they're still releasing cards produced in 2012, at least Nvidia cards offer some improvements, even if they are a rebrand.

Go here - http://us.gateway.com/gw/en/US/content/drivers-downloads
Then put "NE71B" in the product model box. You may also need to change the OS version to 64-bit, before a listing will show.
The camera software is listed under the application tab.
I didn't see a driver listing for the camera, so Windows may have generic drivers installed.
If reinstalling software doesn't work, I'm not sure what else to say.

It depends on what you are referring to, there is not real issues with the R series GPU's in terms of display output. Most of the associated problems people are having involve a few things:

Some of the 4k monitors (The AOC for instance) use a very odd way to refresh which caused the display to flicker on the R9 series GPU's which was resolved in a recent patch.

Some high refresh displays using DP

and some others

However I would not worry, most of the problems if any are fixed via patches and catalyst revisions. If the manufacturer has to update something like the this its normally involves something like with their own software or certain things in environments not working together properly. I would not worry, I have done nothing to my PowerColor R9 290X trio and they all work great.

I just replaced the Motherboard today for a customer, it worked just great! I went into the bios and recalibrated the battery. Problem is that I think it burnt out the laptop because the laptop will not power on at all, just like before I replaced it.

What I ment was that I think calibration caused the burn-out of the board

Laptop motherboards can fail quickly. Was this a new or used board. I really doubt that a battery calibration would damage the motherboard. Have you tried starting the laptop with the battery out?

Just installed an Intel 330 120GB SSD on my computer running Windows 8. This is an older system with a Penryn1600SLI-110dB (Asrok) mobo, Q6600 cpu.

I see the drive in the BIOS. I see the drive under Hard Drives in the Device Manager.

I do not see the drive under File Manager. I do not see the drive under Disk Management.

When I try to use the Intel Solid State Toolbox, it says

"The Intel SSD Toolbox cannot communicate with the selected Intel SSD.
Consider changing to another storage driver compatible with your system and try the tool again."

I'm a noob so I guess my questions are what driver should I use and where would I find it?

Hey guys, so I've been getting a few questions lately regarding the intel vPro processors.
Now I've heard about these before, but only scantily, so what I've gained in terms of knowledge is that I believe they are used for business computers or something of the sort (?)
anyway was just wondering if somebody with some actual knowledge of these curious CPU's could help me out with a few general pointers.

1. What are the vPro series used for primarily? Gaming? Servers? Number-Crunching?
2. Could you give me a rundown of how they stack up against some other popular CPUs?
3. Pros/Cons

I look forward to seeing any potential answers, after all I'm keen to learn

I am looking for a RAM card for an old HP 6600 series computer running Windows 95. Does anyone have any suggestions on a card.
Thanks

A:Need RAM card for HP 6600 series

Wow, I haven't seen an old HP Pavilion 6000 series computer in a good long time! Your going to be a little hard pressed when going to your local computer store and trying to buy a stick of RAM for this thing. Man, a 6600 running Windows 95, I haven't seen a computer run Windows 95 in eons. Well I'll try my best to snap out of my little "shock and ahhhh" thing and get back to talking about the RAM.

Again, going to your local computer store might be pointless, most likely they aren't going to have anything for you. But by happens chance I took the liberty in doing a bit of searching on-line for a supplier that still provides RAM for the old HP Pavilion 6000 series. Give the following place a look...

Arch Memory Store
http://www.archmemory.com/ram.cfm/H...y-RAM-for-HP-Pavilion-6600-Series-23118-63607

Now seeing what I saw on that web site made me shake my head and think to myself that upgrading this old dinosaur of yours might not be worth it. This web site only provides 3 different memory sizes for your computer. (1) 32MB's, (2) 64MB's and last (3) 128MB's of memory! I'd hate to hear what your system currently has as far as the amount of memory it has. With a bare minimum of 64MB's of RAM your system will run really bare bones and "no thrills" with something like Windows 2000 Professional! Your going to have to pump it up a notch and maybe try for 128MB's of RAM, if you want to install and run things, again at pretty much "no thrills" with something like Windows XP. But with Operating Systems like Windows Vista, Windows 7 and the up and coming Windows 8, I don't care how much RAM you try to squeeze into that old computer, it isn't going to be close to enough.

Again, if I'm on the mark here and truly found your computer and this is the one, I would again think twice about upgrading it! Plus with it running Windows 95, finding product support for that via the web is going to be impossible, Microsoft stopped providing support for that product 17 years ago.

I'll shut up now, just due to bafflement alone, I can't stop rambling about this!

Good luck.....

I just got a new CPU, it's an AMD FX 4-core unit. I tried upgrading my motherboard's BIOS (my MB is a GA 880GM-USB3) to the two most recent BIOS, and it just makes my computer not even boot up with the new CPU in it. Even when I try putting in my old CPU, it won't boot up sometimes, so I have to keep swapping out processors until it boots up. Please help!

A:Why won't my new AMD-FX (series) CPU work?

Dont have a Fx series myself, but as far as I know they should work fine in an am3 motherboard. being backwards compatable (am3 +)

Clear your cmos after installing the new cpu, Reset your bios to optimal/auto, And double check your motherboard supports your cpu.

If that wont work I would RMA it if possible.

Hope this helps

Following instructions I opened and cleaned the interior electronics after it developed overheating problems that would result in it powering down. Following reassembly the computer will eventually restart but only after failing bootup at leastg two times. At initial startup or boot from hibernation the computer does not appear to reach boot source but emits a series of beeps, first 1 beep, then 3 beeps, another three beeps, and finally 1 beep. These are all about 1 second long and seperated by 1 second. Pressing and holding the start button again sometimes resuls in a full repeat of the above or the computer emits the series of 1single beats, 4 beats, one second long and one second seperation. Eventually pressing and holding he power button will evenually result in hearing the computer attempt to boot from the CD ROM (which is second on the list after the Internal HDD). Any help would be appreciated.

A:How can I make my HP Pavillion G-series computer run games faster?

go into battery settings and change to high performance, also most the time with laptops specs dont handle like there advertised due to battery and "saving space" issues. On top of that just try doing the normal, clear off empty hdd space, and use a good defrag program like auslogics and optimize to read the data faster. Trust me gaming is hard enough with just BF2 on my dinosaur of a laptop stuck to windowed resolutions of 800x600

A:Wait for the Radeon HD 7xxx series or get the HD Radeon 6950 2GB?

i would get the 6950, thats a very powerful crd as of now with great driver support, even though the 7xxx series is coming out it usually takes like 2 -3 months for decent driver support and longer sometimes with crossfire support in games. as for the crossfire question, u can crossfire cards from the same generation so 5xxx series only crossfires with 5xxxseries and the same for 6xxx, my friend has a 4870x2 and was starting to lag a bit in BC2 so i got him a 4890 and we put those in crossfire, works much better. But yeah i would get the 6950 now and like u said the nice 7xxx series prob won;t be out til after CES in early 2012

AMD have released their new-ish graphics part numbers for systems that pair Llano APU?s with desktop discrete cards.
The standout seems to be HD 6530D or 6550D (APU) + HD 6670 (discrete) = HD 6990D2, which seems to either a huuuuuuge step up in hybrid crossfire, or a guaranteed source of confusion (at the very least).

An already mind-boggling and congested graphics market is about to hit eleven on the one-to-ten scale.

I have tried everything to get my Laptop ( win vista ) to communicate with my Lexmark printer. All my network connection and sharing seem to be in order. The only 'unconnected' thing I see is my Local Area Connection is unplugged. But, I am running on a wireless connection and my router along with my key in is perfectly fine...I think. The error message reads; Unable to connect with printer/computer...and tells me to check my ports, wires, and firewall. Check, check and check! I really wish I was more savvy when it comes to these sorts of things. I would truly appreciate any help I can get. I am trying to print my resume for 3 upcoming interviews.

A:Lexmark 2600 series will not print; any relation to my LAN being unplugged?

hmm; story goes like this;
If the printer is directly attached to another system, then Print/File Sharing will control access to the printer.

If the printer is directly attached to the router, then the device is a 'network device' and it is an issue with networking.
Your WiFi connectin to that router SHOULD be sufficient for access to all network devices (assuming all systems have the same subnet) and any Print/File Shares(assuming all systems are on the same WorkGroup Name...).

Just curious if anyone has tried mixing the FireMV series with the consumer-side 4000 series, or any modern consumer series from the 3000's to 6000's.

I may need to do this for a workstation environment where only my primary monitors are handling video and such, and I have a couple of 2-D business apps being displayed on the x1 FireMV 2260 card.

Anyone worked with this?

Thanks for any help.

A:Can 4670 series and FireMV 2260 co-exist in same Win 7 64-bit system?

you could probably install both, but you would most-likely need to leave one disabled at a time to eliminate driver conflicts and connect the display to the corresponding card.

Hello all I recently picked up a Gateway E which has the slim case I know its old but it was free I did purchase a new HDD for it as well as a DVD-burner Other than that it already had GB of memory and a slim MicroATX Gateway solutions for a Cooling Series - case E GHz M Pentium processor I would really like to use it but it is VERY loud I don t see how someone could work with Cooling solutions for a MicroATX slim case - Gateway E Series it on their desk annoys the Cooling solutions for a MicroATX slim case - Gateway E Series heck out of me I removed the heat sink cleaned off the old grease and blew out all the dust Cooling solutions for a MicroATX slim case - Gateway E Series and reinstalled with new grease This seemed to help a little but not very much At idle the processor temp hovers around C is that normal for this processor The fan speed depends on the case temperature or processor temp so when it gets warm the fan is really turning up to rpm I saw Its not really the fan itself that is making noise but its the air flowing through the case fan that makes it sound like a jet engine Are there any suggestions I really don t want to put any more money into it but I was thinking about just getting a different case This would require me to buy a new PSU and heatsink fan also Having the slim case is not a big deal to me Thanks nbsp

A:Cooling solutions for a MicroATX slim case - Gateway E Series

No, 60C at idle isn't normal. You were on the right track with changing the case. Most of my CPUs run in the neighborhood of 35 to 40C at idle. (The exception is my Prescott P-4 in an Emachines T-5026, which ATM, is 53C under light load). I haven't seen 60c since the last 100 degree day in my non air conditioned house

I'm curious about the CPU, you've included everything except the actual part number.

You should also investigate to verify that your motherboard is an actual mATX form factor, so that it would mount correctly in a standard case.

One quick question, were the temps that high before you remounted the HSF?

For a while now, I've been curious to know what the differences are in the Western Digital Caviar Series.
So far as I know, Black is high performance, Green is eco-friendly and slow, but I'm not sure what the Blue series has to offer, other than a lower price tag.
Can anyone clearify what the techinical differences are between Black and Blue? For high performace reasons, I bought the Black series for my tower, but what would I have been missing out on had I gone for the Blue series?

Thanks in advance.

A:Western Digital hard drives: The differences between Black and Blue Series

In theory, the Black is supposed to be the faster drive. In actuality, there isn't much between them. Speed rather depends on platter size and cache - The Black drives are either 32 or 64Mb cache, while the Blue drives top out at 32Mb.
Black drives carry a five year warranty, while Blue drives are three years which is probably of more significance.

I've been looking into purchasing a new Nvidia GPU that supports DX11.

I have an EVGA motherboard, however, the GPU does not have to be from that subsidiary company. I was looking between the 460 and the 470, and couldnt decide whether or not the extra hundred bucks for the 470 would be worth it or not. I will not be using 3D vision, so count that out.

I didn't want to get the 480 since thats around 500 bucks.

What are your opinions? I will be playing games such as Crysis 2 when that comes out, Battlefield BC2, Medal of Honor, Dirt 2, Metro 2033, Mafia II, etc.

My system specs are as follows:
EVGA P55V 120-LF-E651-TR Intel chipset motherboard
Intel i7-860 Quad CPU @ 2.8ghz
OCZ Gold 4GB 240-Pin DDR3 1333mz PC3 10666 (OCZ3G1333LV4G63581470)

I'm no computer genius, but I knew that having unused programmes on my laptop can't be helping my running speed etc, so in a bid to be quicker I decided to have a clean up.
I went into my add/remove programmes and got rid of a few things...

- MSN messenger
- Adobe Photoshop
- And a few other things I deemed unnecessary.

After that I had no sound. I tired a system restore, nothing, and I've been on the acer website and downloaded the audio driver, still nothing.
I'm running XP, as I tried vista and my laptop didn't take to kindly to this upgrade.

So any help would be very much appreciated. I'm not a major rush, so if it take a week or so of process of elimination I honestly don't mind, its just terrible sat with a silent laptop.

Thanks a lot, Eleanor.

Are you sure you installed the correct audio driver ?
I use, a free program from 'Drivereasy.com' It will scan yout PC and get the right drivers for you. But its a good move to uninstall the old one in 'Device Manager' first
Any chance you have just muted the speakers ? ( left click on the speaker in the taskbar and push the marker up to about 15).

I'm trying to decide between two different Acer Aspire Notebooks.
One has:
2.20 GHz AMD V Series V120 single-core processor with 512 KB L2 cache and 1066 MHz front-side bus
250 GB SATA hard drive (5400 RPM)
3 GB of installed DDR3 RAM (1066 MHz; expandable to 8 GB)
ATI Radeon HD 4250 graphics (with 256 MB of discrete video memory) It provides up to 1919 MB of total shared system memory

The other has:
AMD Athlon II X2 dual-core P320 processor
2.10GHz, 1066MHz Front Side Bus, 1MB L2 Cache
2GB DDR3 system memory
250GB SATA hard drive
ATI Radeon HD 4250 graphics with 256MB of dedicated system memory

Which would be better for simple computing, surfing, and streaming videos?

memory slots to fill, while every motherboard of that type I have researched only
has 2 memory slots. In addition, most of the Series B desktops I looked into
seem to be limited to 512MB of memory.
Because my motherboard has 3 memory slots, would I be allowed to insert three 256MB memory sticks, giving me a total memory of 768MB? I'm told that you should
not exceed the required limit of memory. Would someone care to comment on my

A:OCZ 600W ModXStream Pro Power Supply V.S. Corsair Professional Series HX650W

Corsair is generally considered to be a slightly more reliable brand. I personally would suggest a single 12V rail with high amperage. Do you require a modular PSU? If not, then the Corsair 650TX is cheaper than it's modular counterpart, the 650HX.

I think that for a single PowerColor HD 4850 the Corsair 550VX will be more than sufficient. However, if you're looking to keep the system more "forward compatible" (not future proof because nothing is), the Corsair 650TX should do great. I would think that the 650TX would be the best choice for CrossFire with 2 HD 4850s.

I had a fruitless chat with Sony tech support (as usual) and they inform me that 2gig is the max for my machine.

Can anyone advise if this machine is at its max of 2gig or can the BIOS be pursuaded to see 4gig?

Hopefully I can workout the new 4 x 1gig sticks config, if not I will have to return them to the supplier. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Okay, so my sister's Sony Vaio VGN-NR120E has a damaged keyboard.
I found a place to buy the part (ebay, various other sites, etc. all sell them...) but for the life of me, I cannot figure out how the heck to get the keyboard off of the thing to replace it.

Has anyone replaced a keyboard on a Sony Vaio VGN-NR series before or knows how to do it? I'm fairly confident in my abilities but I want to avoid dismantling parts of the computer I don't need to, so any insight on how it's fastened on there would help.

A:Sony Vaio VGN-NR series keyboard replacement

Hi

sony laptops use (like most do) very small clips at the top of the keyboard, usually 3 or 4 of them along with screws from the bottom,, finding which screws is a trial, unlike Dell who mark the screws (k) for keyboard, (p) for palmrest etc etc.

Once you find out which screws they are get a credit card or similar and slide it across the top of the keyboard between the top and the case, you will feel the clips, use another card to gently lift the keyboard at the same time, be careful once done as their is a ribbon cable on a plug that connects to the motherboard, a gentle pull should pull it out if its a molex type, or else it may be a lift up the black bar type and slide the cable out, or slide a little lug on either side up (to the side etc) to remove the cable.

Hi all, I have a thinkpad 1411 i series from 1998. A workhorse. I always use the machine plugged in. Original battery.

Was getting a battery bad/drive OK message, then I would hit enter and it would boot up.

Now will not boot at all.

Can't it work with just the plug or do I have to buy another battery?

I just use it for a word processor and family photos now. but I like it for that. I have a dell dual core /quad for the web.

Shouldn't it work with just the plug, I don't get it?

Thanks for advice

A:IBM Thinkpad 1411 i series battery bad message won't boot

Not all notebooks will work without a battery. I have a Toshiba A70, and had issues a while back which I thought was the battery, so I tried running without it. Try taking the battery out and see if it starts. Keep in mind that it's a good idea to cycle batteries in notebooks even if they are always plugged in, they should be discharged maybe once a month or so.
Your particular error seems to be coming from the CMOS, maybe you can look at that, considering its been 11 years, maybe its due for a change.

Try "undoing" system restore. You should get get back your 2.4ghz processor speed. Since you are running only 512 mbs of ddr ram, you are operating with minimum ram. Try doubling that, it will help and might stop the crashes. Does your "paging file" (virtual memory) have at least 1 or 1.5 gigs? You have to have that. Good Luck.

Hey dudes i was wondering if you could help me figure out what s going on here though i might already have a guess i d like to get opinions as well as solving matters I m helping my friend v3000 Wireless issue Presario Series on Compaq solve a problem Wireless issue on Compaq Presario v3000 Series with her laptop where her Compaq Presario v AU suddenly just stopped detecting the wireless card even in device manager Now we ve tried reformatting running it in linux or win vista and I ve even gone so far as to take out her wireless card to test it in my laptop and to test mine on hers only to get the same results Wireless issue on Compaq Presario v3000 Series that the card isn t detected in her compaq whereas her Broadcom Wireless works on my ASUS laptop I m suspecting that over time of her using the laptop on the bed or so that the board has somewhat cook off probably any input on this so far the only option i see now is to head it back to compaq nbsp

A:Wireless issue on Compaq Presario v3000 Series

hamsteyr, i'm sorry, this is first symptoms of northbridge dying(nv6150go). the problem is that nv6150go makes some disturbances in pci-ex bus,and thus preventing the wireless card from detection. well, you an try to update your bios, it may help. i had 10 or 20 cases like this in my repairing practice. 5 laptops were cured(completely?) with BIOS reflashing. the others - nv6150go/nf-spp100 replacing.

Hello,

I'm waiting on the next nVidia series of cards, (GTX 380?) as my 8800GTX is still ok for the minute.

Does anyone know when the next release is? I'm guessing around July?...

Just intrigued, because I want to make a monster PC in the summer!

Cheers guys,

Alex.

Here is my problem....... I have hooked my big screen tv to DVI on video card. Everything works fine... the desktop shows on the tv and it plays all streamed video. For example UTube and any stand alone video on Windows media player or and DVD player. My son plays hockey in the AHL so when I hook to AHL Live games, their streaming will not show on the big screen, the desktop shows but the streaming window is black also on the computer monitor. A:Series of problems associated with PSU or Mobo?

any type of short is potentially dangerous to all/any parts hooked up.
The only type of solution in your case is to start small- and add components one by one, ensuring first that you have a good PSU (tested with tools) and also checking that there is no short.

Also test your ram with memtest 86+ booted from a floppy or CD

Hi,
Recently I have had a series of hard drive failures. Three different hard drives have failed in the past month, two of them new. Each hard drive failed the same way, initially the MoBo would not detect the hard drive, I would then change the Sata port and it would be detected again. The hard drive would then start failing during use, as a result the computer would just reboot and I would be left with a non system disk error in bios. After that any attempt to use the hard drive fails because of many many bad sectors on the disk. What I need to know most is, what is causing the problem and is there any way to fix these bad sectors (I have used the Vista built in disk check to no avail.
cheers

I have recently been painting my room and for the past... week or so my Emachines has been turned off. I have never had any problems with it before and when I went to trun it on today the two lights on the front just flickered on and off really rapidly and the fan started and it made a "clicking" sound. I have tried a lot of things and I cannot get this thing to even boot up.

PLEASE HELP ME
thanks

A:T Series Emachine wont start

There are 27 models of eMachines built since 2004 that suffer motherboard failure, due to defective manufacturing processes in Korea and Singapore. The failed motherboard causes the power supply to short out... ruining both. The replacement is $159.95 for the motherboard and $65 for the power supply, and both are out of stock at eMachines.
Which model do you have, and how long have you had it.
The memory, modem, hard drive, cpu, cpu fan, and optical drives remain good... if you can find another motherboard that can use the memory and cpu.

A:Two Routers in series

Each of your routers need to be setup individually, and not through each other.
Once setup, plug the one router into the other. You should have no problems.
But your system would be happier with a switch or even a hub.
Are Router A and B the same brand? When each is used alone, do you get the same readings? Do you have VPN? or other security that could be blocking the second router out?

Been reading around, trying to compare cards. Its about that time for me...I think.

I think I want to get a 200 series card, the clock rates are insane on those things, but only can really afford one of the higher end ones.

I could sli gx2's at the current price, or just sli my current 8800 ultra.

Wondering if I'll see a significant different in games like Crysis, Cod4 and some of the newer games coming out later this year, oppose to what I currently have.

Anyone have any ideas, as far as upgrading? Will Nvidia come out with a new card later this year and make my upgrade pointless? All comments are appreciated.

Hey guys,
Very recently my computer has been crashing with the jagged lines of death. After it reboots, the screen becomes split up into multiple "instances" of one screen, very similar to if you select the "tiled" option in windows background. Example:

Where the box around the outside is my monitor, and four "normal" images (i.e. the desktop, mouse cursor, etc.). No idea what is causing this, however, uninstalling then reinstalling the graphics drivers seems to temporarily fix this. If anyone has heard of a similar problem or knows what to do, please help!

this is videochip faulty(or video memory). afaik, since geforce 8400go, nvidia provides special MXMII videocards in most laptop models. so replacing seems to be simple, but in this model you can't do this. so you can replace MB or repair it

May be a faulty HardDrive partition

Here is Delpart http://www.juliatexas.com/delpart/Delpart.exe
I've used it many times for stubborn partitions removal
Here's some info on it: http://mirror.href.com/thestarman/DELpart.htm

May be faulty Ram

Here is Memtest ISO, to create a bootable Memtest CD.
Run memtest at least 7 times for a thorough test.

May be CPU

A faulty internal processor, can cause this error.
As many users tend to overclock CPU's (and Ram) Your first choice would be to load Bios defaults (or Optimized Defaults) in CMOS. But a hardware fault on your CPU means it will need to be replaced (this can be a little hard to explain presently.

Can be devices attached to your computer

Mainly USB and modem devices can cause issues with installing Windows
Either unplug them (actually any not needed device) or disable them in CMOS

It's a bit grey at this point. Without more info on error messages or anything else
ie can be HardDrive or even the CD you're using !
Just try the above first

Lately I've been messing around trying to have two routers run in series. I have a Wireless-G Linksys and a Wired Network Anywhere Linksys router. Can anyone help me out. Please explain as simple as you can.

A:How to run two routers in series

By default Linksys routers are (IP) 192.168.1.1 (within the setup page of your Router)

But you can't have two same IP addresses, so therefore you must change one of the Linksys routers to 192.168.1.2 (lets say)

Both routers are also probably set up as DHCP, but to make this work only the Router connected to the Internet line should have DHCP enabled

Therefore the Router connected to the computer should have DHCP disabled

Once the two IP are confirmed different
And once DHCP is enabled Only at the Internet end

Then it's just a matter of connecting the ethernet cables up, and testing online.

I'm only 12 now but when i grow up im thinking of getting the blue one in the Sony Vaio CR series.

Just would like to know if it's worth buying, are sony laptops reliable, long lasting, etc

Here's a link to the Sony site will give you the specs of the laptop: http://vaio.sony.co.uk/view/ShowPro..._cons&pageType=Overview&category=VN+CR+Series

And here's a picture of it: http://www.elitezoom.com/wp-content/uploads/2007/07/sonyvaiocrseries.jpg

A:Anyone interested in the Sony Vaio CR series

It is best that you examine a Sony VAIO laptop in person, so you can look at the cooling fans and air channels. Thin and pretty means difficulty with heat.
We rank the Sony VAIO right up there with eMachines and Packard Bell... except the Sony's are prettier.
When new, they are very good. But when they fail (usually early, in our experience) Sony tech support is difficult, and parts are impossible to get. Screens fail quickly on the less expensive models. Sony laptos do not have adequate cooling, and fill up with dust and hair way too soon, requiring frequent cleaning.

Failure rates are as high as the Alienware, eMachines, Dell Inspiron Celeron, and Compaq.

One way to judge them, is to see how long of warranty is possible. If that model has a long warranty, it can be a better machine.

People usually love their laptops when new, but our clients don't love Sony Vaios when they have some miles on them.. Common failures are screen, inverter, or anything to do with cooling, and motherboard quits.

Take a look online at how difficult it is to find a source of Sony VAIO parts. They are available until the warranties expire, then nothing.

Consider a Lenovo Thinkpad T-60 oir T-61. Lowest failure rate in the industry... or a Dell Latitude (or equivalent), high end HP, or high end Gateway.

Other opinions will differ, but we support a lot of laptops for sales teams, real estate, banks, and corporations.

A:Have a Gateway 7500 series laptop with Power Issues

Inspect your battery, and power adapter very carefully for bent pins and contact strips. Assure best contact by bending them outward ever so slightly.
Then consider buying an official Gateway power adapter on eBay.
Power adapters fail frequently enough to distrust them. Batteries have never been as reliable as one would like.
Too much heat or too drastic a cold will ruin the power adapter or the battery. Do not leave any of them in a car during summer or winter temperatures.

will the 9 series make the $220 8800gts drop to something like $100 or will it still be $200?

A:Will the 9 series cards make the 8 series cards cheaper?

eventually, and then the 10 series will do the same to the 9 series, rinse and repeat. basically as long as its one of the fastest cards the gts will be expensive, when it becomes obsolete (relatively) its price will drop.

from the question i assume you are looking to upgrade, if you want to only spend $100 then i'd say your best bet is an OCed 7600 GT, lotsa bang for your buck, i can run FEAR with pretty high settings with just one of them.
but really, what are you looking for?

I'd say definately yes.

Purchase a new power supply, 550 Watt even (this can create a big debate!)

But lets just say the answer is yes replace PSU with bigger wattage.

Until today my computer has run perfectly. Then I took my harddrive out to tale a look at it. When I put it back in, and re-started I got a series of beeps and it wouldnt boot-up.
The computer has NEVER been on-line. It seems like I hooked something up backwards or something. Not sure?? Any help would be appreciated.

A:Unable to start-up/Series of beeps?

BIOS beeps are indicative of hardware failure. Read your mobo book to find out what they mean.

A:Which series is better : 2600xt or 8600gt?

6 of 1, half a dozen of the other. They really are about the same deal. I am partial to Nvidia. Wish I could say one is much better, but...

A few months ago I got a new PC with the ATI Radeon X1300/X1550 Series graphics card. From the day I got it, I've been having problems with the graphics card. When I play a game, which my PC can handle, the PC goes very slow unless I put the graphics settings to low. Also, I can't play a DVD on my PC, it says there is a problem with my graphics card.

Can anyone help?

I have the latest drivers. (ATI Catalyst 7.10)

PC Spec
DualCore AMD Athlon 64 X2, 2800 MHz (14 x 200) 5600+
nVIDIA nForce 6100-4xx, AMD Hammer
2048 MB (DDR2-667 DDR2 SDRAM)
Radeon X1300/X1550 Series (256 MB)
596.1 GB Hard Drive Space

Any more information required just ask

Thanks, Mattie!

A:ATI Radeon X1300/X1550 Series (256mb) Problem

What games are you trying to play? What card do you actually have? It may be from that series but the X1300 and the X1550 are two different cards with the X1550 a bit better. Anyway, they are both fairly low powered cards for high end gaming. Depending on the games you are trying to play, low settings might be the only way to play them.

That said, if you haven't already, go into the BIOS and disable the onboard graphics. As long as it is enabled, it is unnecessarily tying up some of your system RAM and perhaps it is conflicting with the ATI card.

Hiya there.
I recently installed Catalyst 7.10 software for my awful god awful graphics card which i wish to burn.) I installed for the purpose that it was taking 256mb from my system memory and was causing me to really lag up in Guild Wars- So i went on to the Integrated Graphics-UMA Frame Buffer section and from a drop down list where it was set to 256mb i tried it with 32, 64 and 128mb settings and clicked apply but everytime they reset to 256mb. This was quite frustrating as you can image. Any suggestions would be appreciated cheers and btw does changing the screen resolution mean that i wont lag as less on gw since im on 1024x768 i think and i should be on 800x600 and what about the refresh rate? thanks

Many Thanks for your time.

A:aTi Xpress 200 Series help please.

Best for you to get on the internet and do some research of your equipment. It's fun to look up all of your components. At the same time these questions will all be answered. When you go to New Egg and Tiger Direct, you can read their specifications page: there's a lot of info there. I am going to look up your video card for the hack of it after this post. It sounds like it's an old one. Good luck in your Google'ing.

I'm looking for a quiet, fast and reliable HDD - capacity is not important. I've narrowed my search down to Samsung, but I'm trying to find the difference between the different series - in particular, between the "T" series and the "SD" series. Can anyone help, or point me in the right direction?

A:Samsung Spinpoints - Different series

Seagate is the more reliable, and has the longest warranty. Samsung, once a turkey, is not third behind Western Digital. When Samsung is really reliable, you will know as they are planning to change their warranty from three to five years... but we are not there yet.
Basically the SD defines three models in their P series, whereas the T-series is their main drive. Bearings and speed are the same.
Their website for hard drives is
http://www.samsung.com/us/consumer/type/type.do?group=computersperipherals&type=harddiskdrives
You can use their "find and Compare"

does anyone have any info on these cards, i would like to see the 8800GTS drop to at lest 200 when the GeForce 9 Series come out this November. price for the GeForce 9800 GTX will be 549-649 USD. price for the GeForce 9800 GTS will be 399-449 USD. i would like to know more about these cards

A:GeForce 9 Series

Nobody knows for sure but it's probably not the 9000 series. It looks like it's going to be the 8700GT and 8700GTS. Good cards (exactly what I need) but they will be between the 8600GTS and 8800GTS 320.
