Random restarts with AMD graphics card but not Nvidia graphics card

Q: Random restarts with AMD graphics card but not Nvidia graphics card

Hi for the last months ive been trying to fix a but Nvidia Random not card with restarts card graphics graphics AMD problem that ive been having with my computer about months ago I did a major pc upgrade where i replaced my motherboard processor ram heat sink power supply and case the only things I used from the original computer where HDD's SDD and my AMD radeon HD gb Now ive have the most strange issue where i can be watching a video off the HDD or surfing the web on youtube etc and not long after I Random restarts with AMD graphics card but not Nvidia graphics card start the activity my computer will turn off like if I had flicked the switch on the back of the power supply and then it boots back up again and will run fine until i start up an activity again and then it does exactly the same thing and reboots there is no BSOD shown nor Dumps Created Ive tried many things to sort this out and have RMA'ed the power supply and the motherboard the motherboard wasn't a direct replacement as they didn't sell my original board anymore which was a gigabyte ga-x -ud now i have an asus p x deluxe I have tried only plugging in one HDD SSD and then tried a spare HDD when that failed i have tried one ram stick at a time and still nothing now heres where it gets strange whilst trying to rule out differnt hardware i switched my AMD card out for a very old mb pcie x nvidia graphics and since then my computer has been running marvelously i can have it playing videos for hours days even although i havent properly tested for days and not a single problem at all The main difference between the cards is obiously one is nvidia and the other is AMD the nvidia one doesn't require any form of external power from the power supply where as the AMD one requires pin connectors and the AMD card is Massively more powerful when compared to the nvidia one the AMD one can run Practically all new titles on max with ease whereas the nividia card struggles to play gta sa on medium so i think ive narrowed it down to a driver error with amd and another driver with my new board a damaged AMD card a second dodgy power supply or something else that i haven't thought about or discovered yet Has anyone else had a similar problem or have any suggetions as im pretty much all out of ideas at this point and its starting to grind my gears that i cant use my expensive new computer as it should be Any help is appreciated Joe P S sorry about any spelling or punctuation mistakes made but Im very tired at the time of writing this and will be going to bed

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

The comparison you are making between GPU brands is pointless as a diagnostic. The MAIN difference I can see is that one card requires external power, and the other one does not. A proper diagnostic would be to test another GPU that requires external power.

I've heard that the specific PSU you bought will sometimes not power all the hardware it is supposed so.
People saying it could barely power a SSD, or even an extra fan.

My thoughts. Try using another PSU, try using a similar GPU. Use your old PSU and see if it still happens for starters.

I have just fitted a new inno Nvidia gt240 1gb pci-e graphics card and also upgraded the power supply to 550w. Before fitting the card I disabled my onboard radeon graphics, fitted the new card then after booting I installed the new 196.21 driver which I had downloaded from Nvidia. I also cancelled all windows new hardware messages before installing this. The supplied cd driver was not used because it contained the geforce 5 series and ION drivers only.
Since doing this the computer just suddenly powers off then restarts booting up again sometimes. Apart from this the Nvidia control panel works ok and graphic s look fine. Can anyone help please?

Hello Since the past months i have been using my PC using my onboard graphics which is HD must be ATI but prior to that i used to have my GTX installed in this PC but it was on a bit windows On th Sept i re fitted my GTX with the latest drivers of that day first i uninstalled the ATI drivers from device manager and then used driver sweeper in safe mode but soon after BSOD nvidia reinstalling Random graphics card after installing the GTX in minutes got a BSOD but all i could Random BSOD after reinstalling nvidia graphics card see was a percentage counter like - - - and a reboot All this happened in seconds max i guess I reformatted the PC and this time installed the previous WHQL drivers from nvidia namely xx something but they didnt work either All i had left to do was to remove the GPU and reinstall the onboard drivers and without my gpu pc worked great On the th i retried the experiment and it worked for hours even played heavy game on it and used the PC as i normally do and had no issues But after hours Random BSOD after reinstalling nvidia graphics card not even playing just seeing some images on HDD and bang another BSOD SO i removed the GTX once again and its been working fine on onboard graphics since then This GTX had been working very good for the past years without a single crash or anything and then i simply removed it and kept it safely Only thing between this was a shift to bit OS all things other than that are still same I have explained the story as best as i could and i am still OK with my onboard chip but want to play some games as well in spare time but why this BSOD is beyond me hence i come to you fine people for some help The dumps have been attached as the forum asks for

A:T420s Nvidia Graphics Card & Express Card Question...

The T420s with Nvidia GPU has two graphics card that can switch on the fly, if you only want the discrete gpu, just go into your bios menu under graphics there is an option to select discrete. With the Nvidia Optimus (which is what you have), it can switch between Nvidia and Intel GPU depending on your application needs. This will allow you to conserve battery or power. Expresscard slot 34 mm slot is occupied by the card reader that you ordered. What you are talking about within the ram slot cover, is the mPCIe slot, which can be occupied by a mSATA drive. http://forum.lenovo.com/t5/T400-T500-and-newer-T-series/T420s-T400s-T410s-removal-of-4-in-1-SD-card-...

Hi, I have a EVGA e-GeForce 7600GT 256 MB PCIe Video Card which supports the SLI technology allowing me to link up 2 or more graphics cards for greater performance. Now this card has DDR3 memory. I wanted to know if I can link it up with a DDR2 memory graphics card which also supports SLI. If I can, how will this difference affect performance?

Which card?? "A card with DDR3 memory", or "A thingy with a red switch on it" tell us just as much.
But if it's not another 7600 GT you're trying to SLi, just forget it, especially if you're going to buy the other card.

Is there anything that I need to do in order to make the switch easy do I have to uninstall drivers before I install the new card or what?

A:Going from ATI to Nvidia graphics card

Yes, I would suggest that you uninstall ATI drivers & Catalyst Control Center(and anything to do with ATI) prior to installing the new card. After that it's an easy switch, install the graphics card, the latest Nvidia drivers, sofware & utilities, and you're good to go.

I go into the display menu and change it back to 32bit wich is fine until windows has to re-start
it then goes back to 8bit.
Have taken the card out checked the contacts made sure everything is secure but it still happens on re-start
Has anyone any ideas what could be the problem do i need a new graphics card it about two years old

Sounds more like a driver issue. Have you uninstalled and installed the latest video driers for the card?

Latest driver can be found here: http://www.nvidia.com/page/drivers.html
Which appears to be done at this very moment.

You can try this site for the drivers: http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?det=1715

Make sure you use Add or Remove Programs to uninstall the current video drivers.

A:Nvidia Graphics card

Nvidia only supplies chipsets. Since they don't build the graphics cards, they don't support them.

I would check with the manufacturer of your video card and try the drivers from them. Usually the manufacturers tweak the drivers a little specifically for their cards.

Here is the DxDiag Results

The Nvidia Control Panel

Also Would It be posssible to increase the dedictated Video Memory(i have checked the bios it is not there so dont tell me to check)
I would also like to know if you think this graphics card HERE is a good one for my PC Or This one im on a budget of about $80 to $90

A:Nvidia Graphics Card Help

You can not increase dedicated video memory, it is what it is. 512 MB

The system (motherboard) can share memory with the video card, my MSI shares 2 GB giving me a total of 4 GB of graphics memory.

Maybe save a little more money before you make a choice.

I have always had nvidia cards, but I hear that the new ati cards are also great.

Can anyone tell me which card is better and why?

What features does one have that the other doesn't?

I was thinking of either a Radeon 9800 Pro 128Mb, or a GeForceFX 5900TD 128Mb.

Hi,

I read on another forum site that a Nvidia Geforce GT630 with 1GB dedicated memory is better than a Nvidia Geforce GT620 with 2GB dedicated memory. Is this true, surely more memory would be a bigger advantage than the slight speed difference between models?

Thanks,
Tom

A:Better Nvidia Graphics card

Usually higher models would perform better than their predecessors but there can be positives and negatives with both.

For example:
ZOTAC GeForce GT 620 2GB DDR3
Clock rate - 700 MHz
Shader Clock - 1400 MHz
Memory Clock - 1066 MHz
Memory Size - 2GB
Memory Interface - 64-bit
Memory Type - DDR3

ZOTAC GeForce GT 630 1GB DDR3
Core clock - 810 MHz
Shader Clock - 1620 MHz
Memory Clock - 1333 MHz
Memory Size - 1GB
Memory Interface - 128-bit
Memory Type - DDR3

1. 630 has higher Clock speeds
2. 630 has bigger Memory Interface
3. Size of memory won't have much impact unless you're using a high resolution or multiple monitors

I got a new GPU from amazon for 710 card New graphics 2GB GT new problems, Nvidia about So I got a ZOTAC NVIDIA GeForce GT GB PCIe x Put it in my computer and i immediately had problems First problem Computer wouldn't turn on Kept cycling on and off repeatedly so I turned my computer off by unplugging it And this time I unplugged the hard drive to see if my computer would boot without it worked but i noticed the bios got completely reset so i had to manually plug the hard drive back in while the computer was on and change the bios settings to enable hard drive controller and some other settings like virtualization and speedstep now it boots up fine without cycling on and off or needing the hard drive unplugged I guess the capacitors needed to be charged for the first time and they were never primed or tested A restart and windows won't boot past windows startup logo Forgot to disable integrated graphics driver so i boot into safe mode and uninstall it let it install VGA drivers Now ive got the driver installed from the nvidia New graphics card new problems, Nvidia GT 710 2GB website without the D vision or HDMI audio drivers and other things i wont be using i installed PhysX though but now I get random display driver crashes IF DWM AERO is turned on i made a seperate partition and never had any crashes on a windows XP -install It crashes and successfully recovers Sometimes its when opening a game right clicking my desktop to bring up context menu or opening a new tab pausing a youtube video Playing a really long youtube video but it doesnt crash with DWM AERO turned off at all ever instead I get lots of crackly audio on youtube IF my taskbar is showing and not quot hidden quot but I open my start menu with the taskbar showing and it stops the crackling audio And hovering over a link to make a extended text bubble appear makes the audio start crackling as well this doesnt happen if DWM AERO is on so I have two choices random driver crashes and recovers or crackly audio doing certain things Ive tried the drivers from the CD DVD and NVIDIA's drivers and theres no difference it also doesnt make a different if i underclock my CPU and GPU to the lowest they can go or overclock them to the highest they can go I also even tried raising my PSU voltage with the potentiometer adjustment dial with a micro precision screwdriver so from v to v and my - v and v and v are locked to the same dial so I got V for v within spec below v And it helped my CPU overclock a tiny bit more mhz more but nothing else changed besides that to be honest its a very old computer One of the voltage adjustment knobs don't seem to do anything at all seems broken none of the voltages change when i adjust it so only the main pot does anything For some reason even with DWM aero off or on I dont get any crashes during playing a game of any kind only when I go to start a game like clicking the exe occasionally i'll get a crash but it usually doesnt make the game crash and i can just ignore it The audio crackling thing happens no matter how I play audio from my computer USB bluetooth wireless adapter USB headset mm jack front or rear happens anyways but only when DWM AERO is disabled Happens if I watch p to p FPS videos or even playing audio in WMP or VLC Sometimes even when playing games although gameplay isnt affected Surprisingly the GPU can overclock by huge amounts and still need no voltage adjustment and be stable no visual artifacts or glitches up to mhz core and mhz memory without any voltage change almost a shear increase in both memory and core And FPS Stock is mhz core and mhz memory And the temp barely rises by even C when overclocked this much so I flashed the bios to be permanently overclocked to and and its been fine no change in stability temp is only C under load for several hours no fan but it still stays cool good

recently upgraded my pc from windows vista 32 bit to a windows 7 32 bit. Problem is that my graphics card (nvidia geforce 9800gtx)keeps stopping and i get an error thats says" Display driver stopped responding and has stopped Display driver NVIDIA Windows Kernel Mode Driver, Version 257.33 stopped responding and has successfully recovered" I usually get this error or i get the blue screen of death keep in mind this never happen when i had vista so i know it is windows 7. Also the driver is the latest driver from nvidia/ Can someone tell me how to fix it because I do not want to go back to vista and spent $120 on windows 7.

A:Windows 7/ nvidia graphics card

Also i Found this solution from Larry D. Lawerence but the problem is that windows have a preconfigure driver for my nvidia 9800gtx graphics card so everytime i uninstall the drive/restart my pc it automatically installs the driver
1. Control Panel=>Windows Update=>Change Settings=>"Download updates but let me choose whether to install them".
2. Download the latest driver for your card from the nvidia website.
3. Go to Device Manager, select your display adaptor, and uninstall it, choose to also delete drivers when prompted.
4. Reboot computer into safe mode by pressing f8 when the computer boots, when prompted to install new display driver choose "never install a driver for this device"
5. Navigate to c:\windows\system32\drivers\ and rename the file nvlddmkm.sys to nvlddmkm_old.sys. Take note of the date of this file
6. Navigate to c:\windows\system32 and rename any other file of the same date as nvlddmkm.sys which begins with the letters 'nv'
For example:
nvcplui.exe becomes nvcplui_old.exe
nvd3dumx.dll becomes nvd3dumx_old.exe
etc..etc..etc..Repeat for all files with the same date as the file you found in step 5, they begin with the letters 'nv'
If it is too tedious to rename all the files, you can simply move them to a different folder.
*********************
6a. For 64bit Vista / 7, repeat step 6 in c:\windows\sysWOW64
7. Reboot to normal Windows, if prompted again to install a driver choose "never install a driver for this device.
8. Install the driver which you downloaded from the nvidia website.

AH NEVER MIND, I UPDATED THE GRAPHICS CARD, however

I updated my graphics card, went well.

I got this when trying to troubleshoot the problem why I cannot have Aero on my Windows 7:

I scanned for hardware changes and got this aswell:

Problem as i'm having with the Mass Storage controller, I did the windows update and couldn't find anything. Looked around Google no solution...

Please check this page and check your model number again.

Is it actually one of these showing up instead?

It would be very helpful to go to device manager, right click the video adapter, properties, details, change dropdown to hardware ids. Copy and paste what you find to here.

I am wondering if someone can point me in the right direction. I am running Windows 8 64-bit with an old Nvidia 8800GTX card. I have a new HD 7970 card. When I put the new card in, I can't get the OS to boot. It just says "Windows ecountered a problem" and will just do this over and over. I can't preinstall the ATI drivers before I put the card in. Can anyone offer some advice? Thanks.

A:Cannot change graphics card from Nvidia to AMD

You have to uninstall all the old NVIDIA stuff first. This includes the drivers and all software. Once you are sure you are clean, then change the cards and boot into win 8. Once there, you can install your new ATI drivers.

I recently made a new build with the follow:

Intel Core i5-2500K Sandy Bridge 3.3GHz quad core
Western Digital Caviar Green 500GB
CORSAIR Vengeance 8GB (2 x 4GB)
MSI P67A-G45 (B3) LGA 1155 Intel P67

Ok so you know what i got, and the MSI Nvidia GeForce GTS 450 graphics card drivers will not work with my system. I think that it is Win 7 cause if i install it in my old desktop it works like a dream and it is running Win XP SP3, and there is no problems at all and I just completed a duel boot with a second hard drive on above system and running xp on it as well and it works fine with it. Any ideas how to make it work? If need more info just post

A:MSI Nvidia GeForce GTS 450 graphics card

I assume you are using the Windows 7 driver and not the XP driver on it,

NVIDIA DRIVERS 280.26 WHQL

might be better to go with the one previous as I haven't been seeing much in the way of good reports on the latest,

NVIDIA DRIVERS 275.33 WHQL

Also is this an untouched windows disk, or has it been modified in some way?

Hi - this is my first time writing on this forums I've been spending hours and hours going through relative threads and so on However I still don't have a clue - or may be it is just a dead end Here is the situation My girlfriend decided to upgrade her Chinese laptop quot HASEE A -i D quot I've never seen this laptop or this company before but I figured it would be easy Card not Nvidia recognized Graphics to install SSD and GB RAM Hardware installation was breeze and the I installed Windows bit Ultimate Edition However the problem came from installing graphic card driver I realized that the graphic card was not being recognized Based on the label on the laptop it was suppsoe to have quot nVidia GT M quot So I tried downloading the driver from this nVidia website and got this This graphics driver could not find compatible graphics hardware So I Nvidia Graphics Card not recognized tried using Nvidia Auto detect program and got this The manufacturer of this system requires that you download the driver for your GPU from their support site The GeForce M series and GeForce Go series notebook GPUs use drivers that have been customized by the notebook manufacturers to support hot key functions power management functions lid close and suspend resume behavior NVIDIA has worked with some notebook manufacturers to provide notebook-specific driver updates however most notebook driver updates must Nvidia Graphics Card not recognized come from the notebook manufacturer Additionally the desktop GeForce graphics drivers will not install on Geforce M series and Quadro M series notebook GPU's So I went to this laptop company's website using google translate and stuff And I realized the driver on website is for only -bit version And I do not see any -bit driver I am stuck with Standard VGA Graphics Adapter with Windows rating of CPU-Z does not recognize the graphic card either just says Standard VGA Graphics Adapter and GPU-Z says GPU of GT So do you think if there is anyway to tweak or do something to get this graphic card working If not - does it mean I have to downgrade to bit Please help me show me what this forum is capable of Thank you

Hi, I spent 2 days browsing for a solution before posting this. My Nvidia graphics card just disappeared. It's gone from the device manager as well.I've tried every solution posted on this forums and on Nvidia and every other website. Didn't work. When I start installing through GeForce, or a direct download from HP drivers support I get an 'No compatible hardware was found' message. Tried unisntalling Nvidia and reinstalling windows and intel chipsets.Tried the DDU program.Tried everything.   Please if there is any new fix for this issue, kindly share it with me.

A:Nvidia graphics card troubleshoot.

Check to ensure that Windows 10 did not update itself before this happened. You may be able to resolve the issue by using  Windows System Restore.  Choose a restore checkpoint dated before this began.  Windows System Restore is completely reversible and will not delete your data.

Hi,
Was it sold and shipped by Amazon or from another vender ?

Every time you switch ports you have to change the monitor settings to that port

I don't believe I've ever seen a 8-900w psu before
Most were 750-850-1000w
But yea over kill for that card.
Does it need or have a pull for additional power to connect to it on the top rear ?
I doubt it would.

Hey,

I think my newly bought NVIDIA GeForce 7600 GS graphics card is faulty. Is there any signs or ways to test whether it is or not.

The reason I think it's faulty is because I had a pretty messed up PC about two weeks after installing it. I eventually had to reinstall the old card (NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200) and do a full system recovery (reverting back to the factory setup). Without the 7600 everything seems to be working as it should.

Any ideas?

It does not show up in device manager, nor system information, what does show up though in both, is Standard VGA Graphics Adapter. I try uninstalling it, in safe mode, and it still appears.

I've tried pulling the card out and plugging it back in, like I just got the card.

By any chance did you install the NVIDIA beta drivers? If so they are broken for the 8600GT right now (been documented EVERYWHERE)

The only way to fix it is to system restore back before the driver was installed OR a reinstall of Windows

ON my BFG graphics card there is an HDTV TV OUT port on it. It also came with an HDTV breakout cable. I have an Xbox 360 Elite and there are 2 sets of audio video cables. The RED,WHITE,YELLOW cable and the BLUE,GREEN,RED HD cable. The colours on the HDTV breakout cable match the colours on the XBOX's HD cables so i figured they mite work. Do any of you know if i will be able to connect my Xbox 360 to my flat screen monitor?

A:BFG nvidia 8500 GT graphics card

The Blue, Red and Green cables are component video cards, capable of carrying a HD signal. The Red and White of the other cable are for the left and right audio channels, and the Yellow is composite video, good for non HD signals.

If you are trying to use the cables to connect the computer or the XBOX to a TV or to a monitor that has component or composite connections on the back of it then they will work with either device.

But if you are trying to connect the XBOX through the computer to display on the monitor then that won't work. You'd need to have a video card or separate PCI card that supports TV input not just output.

I really don t know where I can put this thread so I put it here Recently my fan has been making a sporadic humming sound It isn t screaming or making any loud noises just a low and deafening hum that Nvidia GT Graphics Fan Card BFG 9500 isn t constant but happens in irregular BFG Nvidia 9500 GT Graphics Card Fan intervals The funny thing is when I turn my PC on its side the humming from the fan stops so it can t possibly be that the bearings are shot in the fan can they Like the title states I have a BFG Nvidia GT Graphics Card and the fan has been acting pretty strange lately I recently cleaned dust out of it but I don t recall ever touching the graphics card and fan It looks kind of dusty but nothing too serious I honestly don t know what s going on but after messing around with it I have noticed it only makes the sound when it is standing straight up and not on its side Any insight would help dearly nbsp

I would check that the fan & heatsink is securely attached to the card (I am looking at a picture showing two snap-in parts where it attaches to the board). Make sure the fan isn't touching the card below it.

My graphics display suddenly stopped for my computer. My PC is not even recognising my monitor, I tested my monitor with some other PC's and it is working properly. I though graphics card not working.??

But since my existing graphics card is gone and there is no on board graphics card on my PC I am not able to uninstall existing graphics card and install new one.

Could some one please suggest me what to do in this situation to see some thing in monitor so that in can start doing Uninstall/Installtions.?

Thank you very much for your replies in advance. I really apprecite it.

A:How to install graphics card when the existing graphics card in not working.

You could always stick the new one in and boot up in safe mode. Then proceed to uninstall all the remnant drivers. That *shouldn't* cause any problems, but it may be choppy when you boot up.(I've had this happen before, swapping a Riva TNT2 for a GF6600).

I've been looking into purchasing a new Nvidia GPU that supports DX11.

I have an EVGA motherboard, however, the GPU does not have to be from that subsidiary company. I was looking between the 460 and the 470, and couldnt decide whether or not the extra hundred bucks for the 470 would be worth it or not. I will not be using 3D vision, so count that out.

I didn't want to get the 480 since thats around 500 bucks.

What are your opinions? I will be playing games such as Crysis 2 when that comes out, Battlefield BC2, Medal of Honor, Dirt 2, Metro 2033, Mafia II, etc.

My system specs are as follows:
EVGA P55V 120-LF-E651-TR Intel chipset motherboard
Intel i7-860 Quad CPU @ 2.8ghz
OCZ Gold 4GB 240-Pin DDR3 1333mz PC3 10666 (OCZ3G1333LV4G63581470)
as of now i have the EVGA nvidia ge-force 9800 gtx GPU

A:decent (preferably Nvidia) graphics card for <80?

I noticed you were in the UK so I took the liberty to check a UK site for you.

Palit GeForce 9800GT 1GB ?79.89 inc VAT
Gigabyte GeForce GT 240 512MB ?72.85 inc VAT

Here are a couple to start you off....The 9800GT is a better card (Clockspeed and RAM) and for that price you really can't go wrong. With either card you're going to need to make sure your PSU (Power Supply) can handle it. With the 9800GT you'll need at least a 400W. With the 240 at least a 450W. If you can find a GTS 250 at a reasonable price, I'd go for that as it's a repackaged 9800GTX (Even better than the GT). To put things into perspective the 240 is basically a repackaging of the 9600.

It really depends on what you're planning to use it for of course. Is there a specific game you're aiming to play with this card? Either way, you're going to want to go with the best bang for your buck and at the moment in your price range, this is it.

Here's a little lesson for nVidia cards:

The second number in the series (8x00, 9x00, 2x0) is the most important. The first number is basically the generation. The second number tells you whether the card is a low end, mid-grade or high end card. You don't want anything below a 6 (ie. 8200, 9400, 230). They are low end cards. There are of course exceptions to the rule because nVidia stupidly rebranded using a different number scheme. For instance, the 250 is a mid-range card even though it has a number below 6. The mid-grade cards are ok for people on a budget. Some really do offer fantastic performance for their price range. Feel free to ask if you have any other questions

Dear all,

I have had problems with my video card (nvidia 7600)

I have had a verry loud noise in vista
I have turned off desktop compisition and areo in vista and still the noise

When i turn my computer i have to:
1 unplug the power plug from my PSU,
2 put it back in
3 wait 1 - 2 secs then turn on my computer for the screen to work

I dont have any bent pins,
replaced cable

dont know what else to do

A:Nvidia 7600 gt Graphics card Noise

What kind of noise? It's probably a fan bearing - most likely a failing fan. Not uncommon for it to die at a certain age. Consider replacing the cooling fan with an aftermarket one or purchasing a new graphics card.

i'm pretty sure the 6800GT will run the game, but at much lower quality and resolution. the card, depending on what bus type, should work with any motherboard that features a dedicated graphics slot. you'll have to look into the e310's specs... or just open the case.

A:cannot update my nvidia graphics card in hp p001tx

If the operating system says that the installed driver is the latest driver available, believe it.  Do not update the driver from anywhere other than the HP support portal download section or by use of the HP Support Assistant.  Do not update the graphics driver from Windows Update or the NVIDIA website! Updating a driver for a notebook PC is not the same as for a desktop PC. Drivers for notebooks are generally specific to the notebook model and use a reference driver suppllied by the graphics adapter manufacturer that has been modified by the notebook manufacturer. Only update drivers when there is a new driver available from HP .

Hello there, and welcome to techspot.

The good news is, your problem is likely easily fixed, with a new power supply. 200W just isn't enough power for your new graphics card. You should be up in the 300-350W range.

The other good news is, this kind of power supply is cheap, and easy to install.

Here is a very good quality 350W psu for $30.00. It has over 30amps on the 12v rails which will keep you system very happy.

(I am assuming you have a motherboard/case that will accept a standard ATX PSU)

A:Unable to locate NVIDIA graphics card

Have you tried re-seating the video card? It may have shaken loose during shipping, transit, etc if it wasn't secured in its slot completely.

If so, then you may have a dud video card or slot. Best buy has a 14 day return policy with no restocking fee. You might want to run there and pick up a similar video card and replace your existing one. If it works then you've solved the issue and can deal with it accordingly. Return the bad video card to the vendor if you purchased and installed it yourself. Or contact the vendor that sold you the computer and ask how they would like to remedy the situation such as replace/exchange it, send an on site tech to repair it, whatever.

When all is said and done, once your issue is resolved, don't forget to return the GPU you bought at best buy inside of the return policy or keep it if it is a better card than the one originally installed.

Hi there

Try the HARDWARE settings on your monitor --you might have to use the handset to get the monitor menu (picture).

There's usually a setting "Auto Scan " / "Auto resize" or similar which should correct the computer W10 image to the correct size. (Aspect ratio setting).

Also set brightness / contrast / colour / sharpening correctly -- makes a HUGE difference. If you have a GAMMA control on the hardware settings use that as it's often better than brightness + contrast combo.

people often forget the hardware menu - especially when using TV's as monitors.

Cheers
jimbo

can be one of 3 things:

You have a bad driver (most likely)

your CPU and/or memory is failing

your card is failing

run memtest 86+ from a floppy to test memory

ensure you have the latest drivers and BIOS

Hi I have an ASUS laptop running on Windows 8 64 bit with i5-3210M and nVidia 645M 2GB. I sometimes like to game on my laptop and i play games like Skyrim, COH, CSGO, Bioshock, Metro, etc. And they tend to run smoothly when I set them on medium to low quality. But recently, I think it is drivers or graphics card problem... My laptop keeps on getting warm when I am not even gaming and When I DO game I constantly get less than 10 fps. I have tried reinstalling drivers and deleting all nVidia drivers and install a new one but the problem is still here. I might have to take it to repair if nothing else works.

you might be overheating if you said its starting to feel hot. Download Coretemp to check your CPU temps and download GPU temp to check the temp of your GPU.

I have recently been having a few problems with my graphics card running at a high temperature so i read a few things online on how to clean it and then i did so. Now when i start up my computer normally "start windows normally" i get blue screen and the computer re-starts. When i run dxdiag it says i have no graphics card so im not really sure if its broken or if i have re installed it incorrectly.

Any help with what the most likely cause of this would be is greatly appreciated.

A:Nvidia geforce 240 gts graphics card issue

Power down and re-seat the graphics card again. If it requires an extra power cord make sure that is connected. If it has a cooling fan attached I'd watch to make sure it spins up.

EDIT: what exactly did you do to clean it?

I have a desktop with Intel i5 2nd generation processor. But I have a weak graphics card called ATI Radeon HD 6250 which I discovered that it isn't great for gaming. I thought that 1GB VGA will be sufficient but I wasn't aware about the APU in VGAs. I have bought two ATI products and I am not happy with it. I am planning to move on to nVidia. People suggest me 540m but I am not great with graphics card since there are loads of models with variety of specs. Please someone help me with finding a decent nVidia card that is around $50 to $100. Thanks!

A:Suggest me a decent nVidia graphics card

The nvidia gts450 can be had for around $100, or if you watch the deals a gtx550. Either of those would be decent.

A:How many drivers for NVidia Graphics Card - HP dv6-2173cl

Hi: HP puts all of the available drivers for the entire model series on each specific model's support page. So you do not need to, and should not install the Intel graphics adapter. That would be for dv6-21xx notebooks that come with the onboard Intel HD graphics adapter.

The GTX 260M should have a DVI output. I think DVI to HDMI converters are available.

Ok, I am NOT a big computer person. I got a quad core gateway that has a nvidia 9600 graphics card. I upgraded to vista business (or thought i did) and it created a partition (c-1) and put business on there. So now it boots to the partition and I can't use my graphics card there. it only shows up on E.

Can someone help me in simple terms to fix this? Or is it beyond simple terms? thanks.

A:Nvidia Graphics card on wrong partition

This is very simple really, perhaps a bit complex at the beginning but you'll get the hang of it quick enough. All you need to do is Update your Video Card driver and you'll be In like Flynn

At the top of this forum page, there is a Sticky Post advising of new drivers, go to it and click on the link, follow instructions on how to download your driver, pay special attention to the system you have as your driver will probably be different for x32 or 64 bit computers.

Once you have your driver downloaded on a folder (or desktop), make sure you Right Click on it and use "Run as Administrator"... reboot when it ask you and come back to tell us how it went.

Good Luck

I have a Nvidia GeForce2 mx200 64mb graphics card and am running Windows XP. I am having problems installing the graphics card. I have downloaded the latest drivers from Nvidia and the manufacturers of the card, Jetway, but am still unable to install it. When i look at the card on device manager i get 'This device cannot start. (Code 10)' however i know the card works as i had no problems when i was using Windows 98 orWindows ME. I have uninstalled and reinstalled numerous times, removed it from the AGP slot and replaced, there is nothing else i can think of that i could try.
If anyone has any other ideas, i will try anything, i am looking to take it into a computer shop tomorrow to be looked at so any ideas before then???

*Edit I am using an EliteGroup Mainboard, K7VZA*
