I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.
I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.
You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)
I forgot to mention that I did a system restore which brought it back 10 days earlier in which a version of direct X was installed. The system restore didn't work though and i was still welcomed with the black screen and only a mouse cursor. I have not changed any settings though recently.http://www.sevenforums.com/graphic-cards/341743-brown-screen-vertical-lines-black-screen-boot.html

Okay, I've had the same issue with a new build: Put it all together, switch on the power and basically nothing. Do the following tried and true diagnostic steps that can be tedious but costs nothing to do and can often zero in on your issue:
1. Uninstall everything from your motherboard and disconnect all peripherals from your power supply except psu to motherboard, cpu, and one stick of RAM. Now turn it on. If it boots up and stays booted then shut it down and then...
2. Add your second stick of memory -- nothing else. Repeat by booting up and if it stays booted up then...
3. Start adding one piece of hardware at a time and repeat as directed.
What are your findings?
Hi all, my pc has been playing up for a while, it has gone through 3 CMOS batteries in the space of 5 months, but just now it has presented a new issue (could be related), with two sticks of RAM in, it posts and boots the os as normal... With 3 in, it will post and get through BIOS, but it starts loading OS and jumps back to BIOS again... Now with 4 sticks in, it wont even post... Are there any suggestions
My PC specs...
Penryn 1600SLI-110dB mobo
Intel quad core q6700
And (now only) 4gb ram
Try one stick at a time
I've got a Dell Inspiron 9400.
For a few years now the left half of the screen is really dark, with the other side normal brightness and a noticeable divide between the two. This only happens when the power supply is plugged in, the screen is fine when running off the battery.
I remember at the time doing a quick search and reading that it was likely to be a faulty battery, so that was replaced but didn't make a difference. Very few searches come back with an exact match of my situation, but keep seeing to detach the LCD cables and make sure they're in good condition yet haven't seen any success stories.
Does anyone know the problem?
Does attaching an external monitor show the same problem?
I own a custom laptop on an MSI 16F2 platform. Few weeks ago my GTX 670M card died.
Out of better options, I bought an used GTX 660M from an acquaintance.
I had it installed, started Windows and everything looked OK. Then I installed the Nvidia drivers and after reboot, right after the loading screen, I got a black screen (with the screen still lit).
I went into Safe mode and uninstalled the driver. Then installed again and got the same result. Went into Bios, change settings, tried resetting CMOS, nothing worked. Installed Windows 7 Ultimate again, then Windows 8, same thing. I also tried the driver modding instructions on this forum, still nothing.
I have no clue what is wrong. If you have any idea, please help me with this.
I have connected the laptop to an external monitor and it works with the Nvidia driver installed. The laptop screen works just fine without the drivers. I would really appreciate any form of help. Is it maybe the BIOS?
I have just added a new SSD drive does recognize 1720 Inspiron in modular boot bay not BIOS sequence HDD in the modular bay of my Inspiron The SSD drive in modular bay is accessible if I boot using my normal harddrive or USB DVD-ROM drive for OS installation which I managed to install on the SSD drive Once boot using my regular HDD I can see the drive is set to Disk in Windows Disk Management And my other HDDs Inspiron 1720 BIOS does not recognize modular bay HDD in boot sequence as Disk and Disk I can boot thru HDD or HDD by selecting them in boot sequence However the SSD drive is not available as part of the boot sequence in the BIOS setup or F boot sequence The BIOS though recognize that there is an SSD drive attached Inspiron 1720 BIOS does not recognize modular bay HDD in boot sequence in modular drive bay My Inspiron is using the latest A BIOS and I could not find a way to include the SSD as part of the boot sequence The boot sequence works when I put back the DVD-ROM drive which boots without any problem with any bootable CD DVD Is there any way I can make the modular bay SSD bootable other than of course putting the SSD in the HDD or HDD caddy which some thing I do not wish to do Please help nbsphttp://www.techspot.com/community/topics/inspiron-1720-bios-does-not-recognize-modular-bay-hdd-in-boot-sequence.210955/
Hi my daughter tried to adjust the resolution and now the screen is Black and stuck on Out Of Range. I cannot even get it safe mode or anything. Just a black screen with the writting. It's a windows xp 32. My son is so sad if anyone knows what to do please help. Thank you.
Repeatedly press F8 while the system is booting.. The very first stuff you see on screen will either be your motherboard splash screen or some text. When you get to the menu where you can make a selection, choose VGA mode NOT Safe Mode. That will boot your computer at 640x480, but it will boot with full driver support, just as if things were normal. Change the resolution to what you want after that.
Remember if you change it to something that goes 'out of range' DO NOT touch anything for 15 seconds. It will revert back to what it was after that time and you can try again.

My newest task is centered around an HP Pavilion 15-p033ca laptop with a broken screen. Replacing the screen is actually super simple but my issue lies elsewhere.
Normally I would hook the laptop up to a monitor via VGA cable. This newer laptop only has an HDMI hook-up, so I hooked it up to my TV with that cable. The HP logo upon start up is semi-visible as the picture is distorted. So, before I spend money and order the screen my question is...
Does an HDMI relay the Broken screens picture to the TV and that's why is messed up? or should the TV picture still be clear? Like when a broken screen laptop is hooked to an external monitor with a VGA and the external monitor works fine.
I'm worried there may be an internal GPU or Mobo issue aside from the screen being broke.... Finally is there a better way I can test this instead?
Thanks for any info or Ideas in advance!
I am having an intermittent issue with my screen not waking up. It goes to sleep after 10 minutes normally but just occasionally it doesn't come back on. usually I have to reboot the pc. I tried a different monitor which worked fine, when I reconnected my normal monitor it also worked fine. The monitor power light flashes to indicate its in sleep mode but doesn't want to wake despite moving mouse or pressing keyboard. The graphics card is only a couple of months old and the screen is over 5 years old.
This problem only happens maybe once a month, the rest of the time it works as normal. Any suggestions gratefully received.
First, are you doing anything specific when this occurs, I.e. a particular game, video rendering, etc.? Second, is there dust build-up in your system? Check especially your video card fan.
Hi, am prepared to be labelled "thick as mince" however I wonder if anyone can advise how to proceed with the following: Replaced cracked laptop screen on a TM99, on first start up after replacement, the screen worked.....woohoo!, however.....on next startup, there was nothing, no lights, no start up screen...nada. Replaced new with original screen, which although cracked had worked, and it too now failed. Any ideas? The cable for the screen was seated properly and securely, nothing else was moved so am struggling to establish a reason for this non conformance. Could it possibly be a jammed "lid closed" switch? If this is potentially the culprit, anyone know whereabouts it is? Thanks
I am getting White Horizontal line on top of the screen.
I plugged out signal cable, those white horizontal line is gone. but I plug in switch cable, horizontal line appearing on top of the screen, so what's causing this?
Could u give some specs what monitor and video card, what operating system? what computer?
Hi, I have a Toshiba Satellite Pro C660 with a blank screen. The laptop starts up and goes through its boot cycle fine, but nothing is displayed on the screen.
I've read through tons of forums, but nothing seems to work.
I did the whole removal of battery, power supply and holding the power button for 60 secs... still blank...
When plugging in an external monitor it works perfectly fine, so this eliminates any issues with the CPU / GPU / RAM / HDD, etc.
I re-installed windows 7, which would hopefully eliminate any software issues.
Next logical step was to check the LCD backlight, inverter and ribbon cable... So I replaced the screen, but still blank screen. Just as a side note, the backlight lights up with both old and new display, but no picture.
This leaves me to think that it might be something in the BIOS?
Any suggestions / ideas?
Hi there! I'm using HP presario c700 . During few days I'm going to see display is not working properly. I mean I can't see anything without sound, It's display is going to show a black shadow with some scratchs.
Please anyone say something, what should I do?
Hi there, have you tried hooking up to an external monitor? This will help you determine if it's a problem with the screen or logic board.
After 3 days of not using my pc(due to broken psu) after I replace with a new psu my screen is so dim tried everything from replacing wires, adjusting brightness, replacing hardwares to replacing monitors but the problem still persists I dunno what the problem is can someone help me. thanks in advance

Hi there I ve recently bought a second hand laptop because it was cheap and seemed to only have a minor problem which I hope to be able to fix So far problem TK Easynote boot Bell Packard I ve not been able to so I thought I d ask here for Packard Bell Easynote TK boot problem some help Specs Packard Bell Easynote TK CPU AMD Phenom II X N GHz Videochip AMD Radeon HD M GB VRAM RAM GB DDR orginal OS Windows Home Premium So the problem is that if I try to boot it Packard Bell Easynote TK boot problem about times it starts up I can hear the fan and HDD starting and see the lights turn on Then after a couple of seconds before seeing anything on screen I hear the fan stopping while the lights remain on The times it boots up properly and everything works What I ve Packard Bell Easynote TK boot problem done so far remove battery and power adapter reinstall RAM both at once and one by one hold down power button for a minute and try again with the power adapter connected This doesn t appear to do anything much I haven t removed the CMOS battery yet because it s embedded in a peculiar way and I m not familiar with how to remove it yet Then during one of the few sessions where I was able to boot successfully I installed the newest BIOS-version from the Packard Bell site This also didn t do anything Then since I wanted to do it anyway I started with the installation of Arch Linux where so far I ve only wiped the entire HDD and repartitioned it then I was too busy and couldn t complete it This doesn t matter much as long as I can get into the BIOS properly I ll be fine I m a Linux newbie but have successfully installed Arch Linux on a very old laptop So what I wanted to ask do you know any way to make the startup work everytime Do you have any ideas what it might be My theories so far - It s probably a hardware related problem since it still occurred after BIOS-update and full HDD-wipe without OS - broken powerbutton connection somehow -- gt replace powerbutton - broken fan overheating -- gt shutdown - broken fan cable sometimes does connect correctly I m curious if you have any theories on how to save the laptop Kind regards Ilja nbsp

Hi all. I've got this issue with my graphic card (fresh and crispy by the way - 1 month old). Few days ago I was just browsing web when suddenly blue screen came out of nowhere on my Windows 8.1 desktop PC. Ever since then when computer boots screen is filled mozaic-like with green squares, after few seconds it's changing to vertical lines. Obviously Windows window manager won't open at all, and it greets me with black screen. After I deactivated graphic card, and switched cable to main boards VGA port computer runs ok.
I've seen some similar threads on techspot suggesting that due to escessive dust 'consuption' GPU can overheat and irreverisbly burn therefore. Is it possible that the same thing occured here?
It's what I've seen on the screen when one of my graphics cards has died. As it's almost new changing it shouldn't be a problem. It's more likely to be a faulty graphics card than dust. Double check that it's seating properly in its port and that the video cable is OK.
Hi there! I was wondering if any of you tech heads can help? Been given my nephews laptop which had the vague description of it hasn't turned on in a couple months.
It's a zoostorm loaded with windows 7. I can get into the bios but after that it just sits with a black screen. Any help would be appreciated.
Have an unusual mark on screen at startup then green lines and pink but otherwise pc ok cannot upload jpeg image for some reason
I have a Packard Bell Easynote TE69KB laptop and the screen is either black or very dark, sometimes at the right angle you can just see the graphics, This started after the 18mth old son hit the top of the screen yesterday. I have tried adjusting brightness without change, with an external monitor plugged in it works fine, which is OK if I'm working at home but no good when I'm out. I am thinking I'm going to have to change he screen or can you make any other suggestions?
Your son has probably damaged or loosened the screen inverter. That is what lights up the screen and is a separate part. It can be found under the screen bezel. I don't think that this will cost much to fix. If you DIY read up about the job first because removing the bezel (frame) needs to be done carefully.
Hello everyone I m having a problem that I cannot understand at all with my old Acer AL W monitor As I turn on the screen it shows whatever it is recieving for about one second then goes black but still getting the goes black Monitor signal The only thing that makes it show anything again is to turn it of then on again and the same thing happens It shows what it s recieving for a second and goes back to Monitor goes black black It has not shown any messages of not recieving a signal but the screen stays black I can t even use the monitors own menu since that is blacked out too I don t wan t to replace it Monitor goes black though that s what I think must be done in the end so I had to post it here for all of you who know much more than I do Here s what I ve tried so far with no luck the same problem in every scenario changed port on GFX Changed cable Tried connecting it to another GFX the onboard port and another PC Tried disconnecting power to monitor and holding the power button before retry Thanks for your time nbsp

So I ve owned my P HM gaming laptop for around years now and for the most part I haven t had any issues However when I start my laptop it always defaults to booting off of the ethernet card even after switching my SSD to the position in the bios menu Normally this isn t that much of an issue as I can just cycle through the bios boot options using CTRL Laptop Boot issue ALT DEL The main issue that I am having now is that the last time I was using my laptop I used hibernate instead of the normal quot sleep quot or quot standby quot Now whenever I attempt to start my laptop up the message quot Resume from hibernate quot is on my screen which is normal except it tries to resume using the ethernet card If the laptop is in hibernate evidently I am not able to access the BIOS menu or cycle through my boot drives I have read that a way to fix this Laptop Boot issue might just be taking the battery out and letting any residual power that the motherboard might be running off of fade away over time I read that this normally only takes minutes or so I tried waiting minutes and it Laptop Boot issue didn t work so I just tried again but waited a few hours this time before putting the battery back in and attempting to start my laptop up The laptop is still attempting to boot from hibernate Does anyone know of any way to get to the BIOS menu from the hibernate screen Or does anyone know of anyway to fully shut off my laptop Laptop Boot issue to get rid of hibernate and just start up normally Any assistance would be greatly appreciated nbsp

As far as I can tell, Nvidia doesn't support Surround (three monitors) via daisy-chaining (the card in the video was AMD Radeon). You might be able to get two monitors to work like that - some sort of DisplayPort MST support was added a while ago because of tiled 4k displays - but to get them all working they need to be plugged to the card directly.
As GTX750 doesn't have proper connectors, you might need to change your graphics card to something that has three DP outputs or 2xDP + HDMI.
I run two displays. When I got up this morning, one of them is on but black. When trying to adjust my display settings, it comes on briefly (maybe 3 seconds) and goes right back off again.

I have checked all drivers and windows shows they are up to date. Both displays were fine as of about 1 AM this morning, and to my knowledge no updates or downloads were done during this time.
Any help would be appreciated; I work from home and having dual monitors is almost critical.
Try changing cables first, by some chance the cable has gone bad.
Sounds like it could be a lighting issue within the monitor. If it is a backlight issue, the monitor will still be displaying an image. You will not be able to see the image without some kind of lighting. If you can use a flashlight to expose the image, you would at least know it is a backlighting issue. I've been able to use this technique on phones as well as monitors.

So I recently purchased a gtx 780 SC with the intention of gaming and doing 3d modeling work and game development with maya/blender/unreal engine 4. Originally, I was thinking of starting with the 780 and maybe a little later get the mid range quadro k4000 to use specifically for the 3d modeling work. I was wondering if just purchasing a GTX titan black with its double precision floating point performance would be a better option? Doing this would be around 100-150 cheaper and I would be able to game and do 3d modeling work with one card. I guess my main question is does the titan black compare with the quadro card mentioned above in terms of 3d modeling? I know the K4000 is a mid-ranged card so I wasn't sure if the titan maybe would do even a little better than the k4000? Any help appreciated.

As far as 3D modeling goes, the biggest thing you will need is ram on the card for the blender and 3D modeling aspect. Some programs are specifically limited to the Quaddro series of cards which means you will have to check if the programs you use will work with any GPU.
Basically, I would say either just get a 780ti 6gb edition (Being released this month I believe) if your programs will all work fine on the GTX series of cards. Or if that won't work, you should be fine with the 780 and grabbing a Quaddro series card to go with it. I would say only get Titan black if you really need the extra compute performance it brings because otherwise its expensive and still would end up being better in my book just getting an K4000 with your 780 since you already own the 780.
My laptop goes into sleep mode even on slightest jerk applied on screen to rotate it,what possibly could be wrong, and on repairing how much could it cost
Sounds like a fault somewhere in the wiring (or a "switch" that is located inside the hinges for the laptop screen. Not 100% sure but without knowing make and model of your laptop, it is my best guess.
What you can do is the following:
Select "Power Options" in the "Control Panel" list.
Click the plus sign next to "Power buttons and lid" to expand its sub-list.
Click the plus sign next to "Lid close action" to expand its sub-list.
Click the word "Sleep" to open a drop-down menu next to the power plan you wish to adjust (e.g. Plugged In). Select "Do Nothing" from the drop-down menu.
Click "OK" to save your settings and exit the window.
This should disable the sleep option, then you wont have to worry about it until you can get it fixed properly.

I had an EVGA 780TI working great. My 980 arrived so I swapped. All I got was a black screen. After taking the card out and putting it back in a few times nothing changed. Giving up I put my 780ti back in and now that just gives me a black screen too.
Edit: My mobo gives the code A0 which is normal so I don't think it detected anything was wrong.
If your not getting an error code its probably booting up normally. It maybe defaulting to the integrated card for some reason so I would try plugging onto the on board video when booting to see what happens.
If that is the case you will just have to go into the bios and change your default video card to the PCIE.
A few days ago my laptop started doing something weird - I would watch a video on YouTube or browsing the internet when my screen would glitch out and then I am not able to do anything. This build will be for my 77 year old mother who lives in another state and I am trying to build this as stable and problem free preventative mode as best as I can with the understanding that any hardware can fail at any time.
Anyway, NewEgg is having both their Blue and Black WD 1TB hard drives on sale that goes off of sale after tomorrow. I know Black is often the choice due to build quality and 5 year warranty. However, the Blue would really help budget wise because every dollar counts and it sees many people have had good success with the Blue.

Can you give us your hardware components such as the make and model of your power supply and the watts, amount of RAM, your cpu, and video card? Is this a new system?

Check and make sure the wire cables are connected properly and not loose. Also, can replace CMOS battery and see you may able to access your computer.
P.S. Also check that the hard drive connection is set to UEFI under BIOS connection settings. Windows 8/8.1 supports only secure booting.
Good luck though!!
I am now working on a ASUS G jh I ll describe the problem from when I first acquired the laptop The laptop started up with a blue BIOS background eventually the OS started Very lightly and blue tinted After playing around I discovered that the problem was intermittent when changing the elevation of the LCD lid I ordered NEW LCD Video Cable For Asus G G JH G JW G J G SW SERIES - Q ASA http www ebay com itm trksid p m l amp ssPageName STRK MEBIDX IT thinking this would fix the problem It did not Since then I have tried one different LCD panel and get the same results Now the problem is no longer blue It s just dark very very dark I can see that it still sends the image to the screen but it looks at if it s Asus G73jh problem screen the older LCD panels with the backlight disabled I know that this does not have a backlight or inverter though I have reinstalled Windows reinstalled the drivers reinstalled CCC still having issues maybe this is related AMD Catalyst fails to load properly The error message is quot Catalyst Control Centre Command Line Interface has stopped working quot It seems maybe there is something wrong with the graphics processor but I currently have a monitor connected through VGA and have also tested the HDMI output and both work fine I have been using and testing this system Asus G73jh screen problem with the external monitor since I have disassembled the laptop to replace the LCD LED cable I no longer have the old cable Anyone with any tips I would really like to figure this out if not for a working laptop for the curiousity of knowing what caused the problem Please help I will appreciate it very much nbsp
Is the display panel an LCD or LED type? Many LCD laptops can be converted to LED by using a simple flat cable adapter...
Hi, I'm having a problem with my Dell Latitude E6400. When I'm not using it for a while the screen goes black (like into a sleeping mode) like all computers and laptops do. But if it stays black for a little while, and when I go to get back on it and move the mouse around or press the keys the screen won't turn back on but the computer is running because the light on the keyboard are lit up and I can hear the fan running. The only way I can get the screen back on is if I shut it down by pressing the power button on my keyboard and turning it back on.
Can anyone please tell me what to do or what is wrong with it. That would be much appreciated. Thank you
Being thirteen doesn't mean I don't know what I'm talking about.
I am running Windows 8.1. After restarts, the laptop screen would be blank, yet the computer would load. If I hooked up a 2nd monitor, it would show the desktop on that screen but laptop screen blank.
Now when I try to type on that computer (I'm currently on a different computer) the typing of the keys is all off (none of the letters actually type what they are supposed to and some open up random windows and command prompts)
I am wondering if this is a virus. Currently running Malwarebytes. I did a system restore earlier and the problem wasn't solved.
Could be a virus, but could also mean the motherboard is faulty. If still in warranty, RTM.
Does the laptop have a bootable CD reader? If so, then download and make a bootdisk of a small linux (e.g. puppy linux). Booting off that will virtually prove if the motherboard is faulty or not.
Hi, hope I've put enough specs in profile for you to help. I have a Compaq Presario 6735s I bought around 2008. CPU quite slow but graphics card not bad so made decision to upgrade. Looked up the laptop manual here to find compatible CPUs for motherboard, socket type etc. Went through 3 different (*****ic) buys before I found one that actually fitted.
Now with everything reassembled, screen will flash up once upon powering on, then nothing. All usual lights come on, even my wireless connects, makes usual start up noises, fan, dvd drive etc ....
Proceeded to take everything apart again, re-connected everything I tampered with. Even RAM, which I didn't have to remove before.
Still same reaction starting up.
Really frustrated with myself as thought this would be the right one. Could honestly cry, haha.
I read the tutorial on here called 'No POST' to no avail either. I really hope it can come back from this.
One last thing I can think of (before pulling new CPU out) is upgrading BIOS to support new CPU but with no screen I am stuck.
Can someone please give me a little direction?
Did you re-install the old CPU to see if the laptop booted normally again? Upgrading CPU's on laptop motherboards can be a very difficult thing to do. What is supposed to be compatible in reality is not
A few days ago I bought some screenwipes to clean my monitor screen & iPhone screen. They worked great on my iPhone & laptop but when I did my W7 tower I felt bumps which are from un expected sneezes & would like to know if there is another way to clean that off or if I'll just have to use more than one wipe.
You just have to put some muscle into it! I had the same sneeze marks on my screen from over the years and a bit of elbow grease was the key.
So I managed to drop my laptop Satellite C870 - 15K to the floor. It cracked my screen (see attached) so I'm thinking of replacing the screen myself. However before I purchase the screen I wanted to make sure the laptop is still working.
When I try to connect it to my TV through HDMI to verify if the laptop is still function I get no image. I thought maybe it's in standby mode or something so I removed the battery and tried again without luck. When I start up the laptop it sounds normal but I don't hear any windows sound or anything. Any advice on how to continue?
Pull off the bottom access panel(s) and make sure the memory and hard drive are seated properly by removing them and re-installing them. It is also possible that the broken screen is shorting out the motherboards video. Try connecting the TV after you remove the LCD panel. One more thought... you have pressed the proper F key to activate the external video port?
I turn-on the power on my laptop and all I see is a cycle of Red, Green, Blue, White, & Black of color on my screen. Computer was working the night before. I do not know much about troubleshooting a computer. Can anyone please give me an advice or guide if this is something I would be able to tinker to work or bring the laptop over for service.
I have a Dell XPS1730 (5 years old) with Nvidia IUPGA5D G84. Recently, upgraded to Windows 7
I appreciate your assistance.
The internal video has died. To verify this you can attach an external monitor and see if the display is normal
Can anyone help,
I have a compaq presaio cq61
the other day the screen went dark, could just see the screen in the background, scrolled through forums and decided that it could be the inverter.
Purchased and fitted a new one screen lights up fine but now is continuously pulsating. Does anyone have an idea on this, could it be the wrong inverter? or other problems.
Your help in this would be extremely appreciated.
The LCD panel could be bad...
I have a Dell Latitude D that I dropped while in its carrying bag so even backlight Dell screen Latitude replacement no after it wasn t a real hard landing Now the backlight won t come on I swapped an entire screen assembly from an identical D and it still won t turn the backlight on I swapped the screens again and the borrowed D still works fine and mine won Dell Latitude no backlight even after screen replacement t work I didn t bother to test my screen in the borrowed D I can run an external CRT with mine and I can see the LCD display if I shine a light on it so I know the display is working and not cracked The laptop won t drive the CRT Dell Latitude no backlight even after screen replacement unless it thinks the lid is down so to use the keyboard I removed the sense magnet from the lid and taped it to the place where it would be with the lid closed I ve noticed in the past that this D often stayed fully on including the display it seemed when I closed the lid and walked away for hours Note When I tested the borrowed screen I had the sense magnet removed When the magnet is taped in place simulating lid down both the backlight and the display are off I can t see the display even when a light is shined on it but when the magnet is removed simulating lid up I get the display with no backlight It seems like the display knows whether the lid is up or down but the backlight seems to act like the lid is always down Is this possible What should I look for nbsp
Did you replace the backlight inverter?
when i start my computer, it goes to the gateway start page, and after a while (it's quite slow) it goes to the black page, and this is what it says:

it just stays on that screen until i do a CTRL ALT DEL, then it goes back to the Gareway screen and after about 30 seconds finally boots up and i get the Windows XP start up page, and it opens up my desktop and i can continue .
Can anyone tell me why this started happening and how to correct it?
How old is the computer, or the hard drive. It appears you have a failed or failing hard drive.
Earlier I was surfing when the monitor went black & the laptop shut down. Simple as that/ I booted it up & no problems till a few minutes ago it happened again. Both times I had two tabs open. I'm going to save what needed in case I do a factory restore.` Vista Home Premium
Overheating..? Download Speedfan and tell us temps.
So I just finished a new build and am having a strange issue with my monitor and am at a loss The monitor will randomly just go black power stays on pc is still running fine its done it mid game as well as just sitting idle I have disabled sleep modes The new build is a a k and a asus a x - plus mobo radeon r gamer series ram MHz WD black gig hd raidmax watt PSU Now if I hook monitor up to my old video card radeon hd I have no out goes Monitor black of ideas issues but when I plug it into the motherboards VGA I have problems Now here is whats giving me problems I have hooked my wifes monitor into my new computer her monitor works fine with the onboard vga and my monitor works fine on her pc Also if I plug my tv into onboard hdmi I have no issues I would test dvi but I don t have a converter I do have updated bios and drivers and am running windows Things I have tried so far reinstalled windows and all drivers swapped monitors tried separate gpu adjusted refresh rate tried hdmi my tv instead of monitor instead of vga so far the only issue I can come up with Monitor goes black out of ideas is maybe my monitor is just not compatible for some reason Monitor and a AOC swl btw which from what ive managed to find about it there shouldn Monitor goes black out of ideas t be any compatability issues nbsp
Did you ever figure this issue out? I'm having the exact same symptoms with my beautiful Dell 27" LED screen, but unfortunately, I'm starting to believe it's the monitor, which is just over the one year warranty. The sad part is, I was having this problem for over six months now, and had switched to the VGA cable to avoid the issue when it first started happening, but finally tried to troubleshoot it now, and I'm discovering that it may be a hardware issue and if I would have done something when it started, it was still under warranty.
Anyway, the only thing I haven't ruled out yet is the DVI cable, as that is still a possibility, however it seems unlikely that a DVI cable would go bad by itself after a few months of use. And looking at the cable, I see no signs of damage or broken/bent pins.
Hi everyone, I have a problem.
I pinmodded an LGA771 Xeon to work with my LGA775 motherboard. I decided to do it the hard way and use aluminum foil and tape to pin mod it. I think it worked out fine but anyway, on to the problem.
When I cut off the LGA775 alignment pieces, I accidentally bent 2 pins out of shape a little. Initially, I didn't notice, so I put in the Xeon to try it out, didn't work.
Then I tried my old processor, also didn't work (worked fine previously).
So then I noticed the pins and bent them back into shape, AFAIK it is perfect and you can't even tell that anything happened.
Tried both CPUs, nothing, no beeps, no signal to the monitor.
Is it possible to damage my motherboard if I didn't do the pinmod correctly?
Is it possible that I damaged my processor or motherboard by trying to run it with those 2 pins out of place?
I am not really sure, but my guess is you did not do the pinmod correctly since both CPUs do not work. I hope someone else can provide some insight on this issue. Good luck!
My dell 1905fp finally crashed after a lot of years. I'm not a gamer, but I was very happy with that monitor.
Of course they no longer make it, and I understand refurbished monitors of this type are not necessarily a good option.
I can't seem to find reviews or comparisons which point the way to other similar monitors. I'm retired and just can't afford the $600 and way up price of what I've seen so far.
I just need a basic monitor with VGA and DVI, but would like the screen performance to be decent, incl for watching movies etc.
Any recommendations, and where to get a reasonable price? Again, don't want a wide screen.
Nothing wrong with buying refurbs. They may have a few blemishes in the frame but nothing serious to keep them from functioning. I've bought a few myself and have had no issues with them. Although the monitors I bought were 20" widescreens that averaged $120 or less. For what you need/want, I wouldn't spend more than $150.
I know you said no widescreen, but movies do view better on widescreen.
http://www.amazon.com/Dell-UltraSharp-1905FP-Rotating-Landscape/dp/B00091R6KC - less than $100
Guys plz help me..ma dad wont let me game..so I cnt upgrade ma pc..I myself cn afford a pci vga..cn it run latest games?
If that's your graphics card, then the rest of the system must be ancient. I'm gonna go with 'NO'.
To test: download Steam and Team Fortress 2. Turn resolution and all settings to minimum. Does the game run acceptably?
My partner's laptop HP 0700 Notebook will not boot up and just comes up with the above message. We found an HP troubleshooting site which said to reset the BIOS default settings by pressing the Escp key, F10 followed by F9 to reset. Then it said to press the F2 System Diagnostics keys which tested the hard disk and all the tests came out OK. When we tried to restart it, it came up with the same message and we have noticed that before it comes up with this message it says in the bottom left-hand corner "Prepare boot to OS" and then comes up with the message in the heading. We have not bootable disk as the laptop already had everything installed.
Coupled with this my partner's virus protection is coming up with "Threat detected" every minute on practically every site my partner visits on the Internet. You will appreciate that we cannot run any virus checks as we cannot get into the computer.
Any suggestions would be very much appreciated.
Any luck with this?

I am not very tech savvy, so I apologise in advance for my uselessness..
I'm having serious issues with my Dell, every now and then the screen will fragment violently, sometimes just part of the screen, sometimes all of it, I can move the cursor and click and open things, if I can see the screen, which is not always possible..
I believe it may be a problem with my graphics card, my Dell does not have a tower, it is the monitor and tower in one device.
It's getting to the point where I cannot submit schools tasks on time because of my system, and I am just in need of serious assistance..
It more or less is the graphics chip. If this is the case you may need to take it to a local computer repair shop.

what can I do
I just got new SSD - Transcend 128GB. Installed Windows. When I cold boot my PC -- from a shut off state -- I get this message before Windows loads: "Reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device and press a key."
However, if I press Ctrl+Alt+Delete and reboot I come into Windows.
If I enter BIOS from cold boot, it does not detect my SSD. After rebooting it detects my SSD. Seems like the SSD is slow at firing up?
I have run chkdsk and memory test without any errors.
My motherboard is the MSI Z87-G55.
Just installed newest BIOS, it didn't help.
When I go into Board Explorer in BIOS it says SATA port 1 is empty. After reboot it says the same port is occupied by my SSD.
Update: Plugged in another hard drive (non-SSD). Same rules apply to it. On cold boot, none of the drives are detected. After reboot, both drives are detected. I used a non-SSD as system drive before this, worked perfectly.
So I installed a second Hard drive this weekend. And I want to create a new partition on the new hard drive, which will hold my boot files. So I want a partition of my second hard drive to be my main boot device. (Like 20gb)
Then I?m going to combine my first hard drive, and the remaining space left into 1 partition.
My Local disk has my Boot, Page file, and Crash dump. I want to move this to my new partition. (Second HD)
I tried moving the entire windows file in my local disk to the second hard drive, half way through it wouldn?t allow me to move all of the files.
How do I do this without re-installing windows?
cursor goes off screen to the right and bottoom i tried the video settings with the duel monitor setting and its not that nor is it my monitor itself it happened while i was messing around with toolbars and taskbars but i tried everything and nothing helps evem n system restore dont work or adjusting my video card which is a nvida 8400 gs on my win xp sp3 dell dimension 2350, i already had my integrated video card disabled so im stumped if someone can help plz do so thanx in advanced
Most problems like this are down to having the wrong Graphic card drivers installed.
If you go to the Nvidia site, select your card from the drop down boxes.
Save the driver somewhere easy to find on your pc, (desktop)
To uninstall the current drivers, go to Control panel, system, device manager.
Click on Display adapters, right-click and choose uninstall driver.
Go back to the Desktop and run the new driver installer.
Set up the display as you want in Control panel, display.
*While you are in 'Device manager', do you have a yellow warning sign next to the 'mouse and pointing devices'?
If yes, you can right click on it and choose 'Update driver'
I have a prob,whit a geforce 8800 gts 512mb.
I got it from a secondhand site and all was alright till I started to overclock
Nothing big,oc at 16% and the temp was 60*C wich aint so high. But when I started the pc next day,I got only black screen,no bios no safe mod no nothing.
I have a
pentium D 805 2.66
gigabyte ga-8i945pl-g as mobo
500 mb ram drr II/ 4 slotsX 500=2gb
acopia dual fan it-25f2 -psu
I know the mobo aint dead cuz I tested with my other gpu,and it worked
Did a bios reset-still black screen
changed the ram position
tried with other monitor
dvi-vga adapter works(I tested on the other gpu)
I noticed that now when I start the pc,the gpu fan speed doesn't change I mean its at 100% but when I had a image on the screen at the start up,the fan speed was at 100% only for 3 sec, then it changed lets say at 50% after those 3 sec.
should I try the bake fix or its a certain dead card?
Sry for my spelling mistakes hope u can give me an answer cheers.
My Hp pavilliin g7 series laptop running windows 7 home starts up with white screen and no beeps or sounds . Started freezing on Hp logo screen last week only sometimes. Id turn off and it would work on second try. About a year and a half ago I used laptop to preview windows 8. And after I reinstalled windows 7 it has been acting funny. Ie freezing and louder fan noise. I did recently update the bios and a pci device driver that never installed. But now it has white screen this morning. I shut off and powered up and still white.
I took off battery and pressed power for 10 sec plugged back in and still white. Still no noise.
Try attaching an external monitor and notice what it displays...
I have the same problem When turning on the laptop screen goes to white I can hear windows starting but cannot see anything I Laptop white starts and white stays screen up connected it to an external monitor which will only display once windows has loaded I then took the whole laptop apart and discovered the LCD cable was frayed due to a faulty laptop hinge I replaced the cable and it was the same just white The problem I think is with the motherboard Laptop screen starts up white and stays white and the intergrated video card Upon taking the whole thing apart I noticed that where the video card plugs in is right where the heat sink is and the cooling fan which gets exceptional hot I figure it has fried the board to the extend the monitor will not work where it is plugged in but the external monitor will work but only when windows boots So sad to say because of the the heat this laptop puts off and if you have it sitting on your lap or bed or anywhere else that it cannot cool properly it has over heated and you will have to get a new motherboard Moderator note Moved from this thread - http www techspot com community t up-white-and-stays-white post- nbsp
"I connected it to an external monitor, which will only display once windows has loaded"... This is normal behavior because the video signal to the external monitor is not sent until Windows loads. If you can see normal video, the motherboard video chip is good
Hi, I'm new to this site, as to any forums in general, but I was wondering if someone would help me identify what's wrong with my laptop.
It's been used for at least two good years and 've been working better or worse, I'm currently running W8, I've cleaned it many times and it isn't overheating (as far as I can tell by checking the fan.
The problem is that after an hour or so of use, it just goes to the Shutting down... screen. Sometimes it shuts down during a game, sometimes during a video or if I wait long enough it'll shut down on the desktop without any apps running.
It's really frustrating and weird, there are no errors or any indications as to why it shuts down. Happened about 20 times for the past few days. Ideas?
The laptops thermal compound has probably gone bad and hardened... This causes the motherboard to trigger its "overheating" circuit, even though it doesn't seem that hot
Acer Aspire 2000 (Cl32) runs WinXP/Pro/Sp3 and can be set to display in its native resolution of 1280 x 800 from its ATI Mobility Radeon 9200 video card. However, when it reboots, it reverts to 640 x 480, and often blames an absent or corrupt video driver. My remedy is to UNinstall the video driver from Device Manager and reboot, but I'd like to have native resolution without going through this 'readjustment' at every reboot. On the rare occasions that I can access the ATI Control Panel, Schemes in the Display tab, is empty. If I select 'Default Single Display' from the offered options, the SAVE button is greyed out. Any suggestions as to how I can get the native resolution to 'stick' ?
Uninstall driver via the 'Add/Remove Programs'. Run Ccleaner and clean the temp files plus registry. Download a fresh copy of the latest drivers, install.

Sounds like the graphics processor on your laptop is on the way out, if even an external monitor didn't work.
Does BIOS work? F12/DELETE when booting up to get in.
So this is an interesting one...
There is a yellow streak on the right hand side of my screen. It has no discernible shape, and to be honest it looks like a coffee stain. However, it is defitely internal, since I have noticed that I cannot get it out, and it is...growing. It is just a light tint, with part of it being more intense than others. And here is another catch: when the resolution changes, or the screen refreshes, or when it is booting up (basically when there is a black screen) it sometimes switches to a bluish color. This is very odd. The only solution I can think of is opening it up and making sure wires are secure (note this is a laptop).
PS: I am pretty experienced in computers, first time seeing something like this.
It may be a damaged LCD screen...
Just over the weekend I got rid of my extra PS I had laying around and got a HP DV - US Laptop The guy I had got it from had Windows Ultimate on it which I was okay with But it was -bit not -bit The laptop has a dual core i M processsor clocked at ghz with gb ddr ram installed so it s perfectly capable of running bit windows So I got an installation of Ubuntu bit to put on the computer as a fail-safe incase something went wrong with the installion of bit windows Well heres the thing I installed Ubuntu but it had said a file was corrupt so I had to stop it and start over again so I went ahead and formatted the Formatted Offset Is Now DV4-2164US, HP Screen whole harddrive for two reasons the install messed up and the guy had the harddrive have sections partitions on it and I didnt want that After I tried to install it went perfectly and installed but then as it rebooted some problems occured - when it booted up the screen was black but when I changed the brightness with the keys the screen showed but it was strethed past the screen about - inches to the right It was on the left edge perfectly but went past the right edges Also at the bottom it stretches anything down some and shows whats at the very top of the screen again at the bottom - when updates installed the screen was normal again so I tried to install Windows alongside Linux but it simply wouldn t so I had to Formatted HP DV4-2164US, Now Screen Is Offset format again giving me the same offset problems as the first time I ve heard people say its a screen cord problem and that its the screen itself But iif thats true then why after updates on Linux it was fixed the first time If needed I can upload pics of the screen display I would like to have anyone help that can with this problem Thanks nbsphttp://www.techspot.com/community/topics/formatted-hp-dv4-2164us-now-screen-is-offset.198479/
What cause the screen resolution to be distorted?
It is not the monitor. When the monitor is connected to another system it is displaying perfectly.
Adjust your screen resolution.

The computer changes the "on battery" brightness to full periodically. I cannot figure out the common theme to this....
I set it to 70% to save battery

I am not changing it
I m running main HDD in RAID and all is ok there I check in BIOS the SSD is recognised - using the Control I command I can see the SSD is available and status is normal I boot to Windows and it disappears I m running a w PSU and wondering if it s a power issue but why is it not a power issue in DOS It s puzzling as I previously had it working before until I recently reinstalled Windows BTW I did edit my Regedit before this so I could change from IDE to RAID on my main HDD I changed iastorV Start THIS IS WINDOWS RAID HAVE IT ON SINCE MEANS ON pciide to SSD 7 dissappears Windows I when drive boot up THIS IS IDE HAVE IT ON SINCE MEANS OFF Before I did this it would get BSOD when starting Windows having only the BIOS changed to RAID on main HDD Should I have changed the pcide to and instead SSD drive dissappears when I boot up to Windows 7 left it at Anyone have any ideas nbsp
This has been sorted - I removed the Kingston SSD and used an OCZ Agility 3 SSD which was instantly recognized. Apparently Sandforce, the controller the Kingston uses has a problem so that's what it was.

My desktop machine is a Windows 7 32-bit. My problem is that when I read a PDF, the brightness of screen bothers me and I want to reduce it. My monitor is a Samsung LCD and only has a button. When I press it one time it turn the screen on/off and when I press and hold it, it just adjusts the wallpaper.
Is there a way to reduce it?
Your going to have to post the exact model of your monitor for us to help you because its going to be the monitor that reduces the brightness.
Hello, I have nvida 8500 gt and the problem is that my screen goes white after using it for sometime, when I remove the card, it works fine.. I have the latest drivers installed but that doeesn't fix this problem... I have a dual core 2 gb ram, intel...please help!

I can disply my Apple MacBook Pro on my 64-inch TV screen. But the MB Pro has refresh only to 60 Hz. On the big screen this causes very noticeable flicker. What computer box or video card would I need to produce a disply on 64-inch at high enough refresh rate? (not sure what will be high enough). (Am using HDMI of course).
Thanks very much for any help!
Something is wrong with your connections. 60Hz is plenty.
I bought a 7970 about 5 months ago and since then I have had some horrid problems with any game. While this may only happen once a week and causes my computer to crash if I do not end the game fast enough, I am concerned. I have not had heat problems and it happens at random times. Is there a fix? Want me to upload a screen shot of the problem? Thanks for the hlep.
Can you show us a screen shot of what your talking about? It sounds like screen tearing if im understanding what your saying.
Hey, my name is Dazz. I am pretty new here and have just built a new PC, I have connected all the parts of the PC up correctly and seem to be having problems on startup. I hear the general kick into life startup but when I look at my monitor it is completely black, no startup screen. Doesnt even turn on, the light on the monitor is set to 'standby' straight away. I have no idea what the problem is at all.
Any ideas what it might be?
I am using Sabertooth 990FX R2.0 motherboard, 750W ATX PSU, Corsair Dominator 4GB Phenom II x6, and a Prolite E2208HDS monitor
The real question I have is why you are pairing a GTX 690 with a Phenom X6 and 4GB of RAM!
Jokes aside, does the GPU fan spin when you startup the PC? Is it properly seated on the PCIe port? Is there a power connection to the GPU?

Greetings I have a problem with my LED monitor and I m not sure where should this be posted either as hardware or software so I put it here The thing goes as follow I bought a samsung syncmaster SA LED monitor for my pc about a year and a half ago and so is now out of guarantee I havent had problems with it previously but recently vertical SA300 LED Flashing monitor samsung lines on flashing white stripes have started appearing on the display particularly when the monitor is showing black or dark colors and when I Flashing vertical lines on samsung LED monitor SA300 just turned it on Also it s been getting Flashing vertical lines on samsung LED monitor SA300 worse as time passes first it would only happen on first few seconds after turning it on but now it happens whenever dark colors are abundant on the screen wich makes me think this could be my monitor telling me it s about to die I would really apreciate if you could help me sort this out and if this is in fact a hardware issue if repairing is viable possible and it won t cost me more than half of the monitor original cost or if I should start saving for a new one crap I do recall having read on some tech magazine that LED monitors are more quot repairable quot than CRT and LCD ones so I can only hope it s not something bad Thank you very much in advance for whatever time and help you can provide me for my problem nbsp

I am running a Windows 7 PC with a Nividia NVS310 Graphics card which has 2 DVI inputs.
I currently have a 22" BENQ screen connected to one of the DVI inputs, but would like to install another older screen which uses a VGA lead. (An old HP unit supplied with the original PC)
The graphics card does not have this facility but the base unit does have the option to connect via VGA.
Questions is am I am to configure the system to recognise both the DVI connected screen through the graphics card and the VGA connected screen running through the standard base unit into a duel screen set up.
I look forward to your responses, thank you in advance.

Did you get this fixed?
Hey guys, I need some help, I wanna play LoL but I'm having a problem because the game freezes, the screen goes black and all I can hear is the sound of it.
I play on a pc with Windows Vista Business 32bit/ 2GB RAM/Intel Core2 CPU T7200 @ 2.0GHZ/ NVIDIA GeForce Go 7400.
I can't seem to get the proper drivers though, because the nvidia website says there are none available for this graphic card.. Ideas anyone??
I would either get a new graphics card or try lowering the settings as soon as you appears in a game. Change your resolution all the way down and make sure shadows and everything else is on low or very low and sound off if you like.
My current setup is:
ASRock 960GM/U3S3 FX
Gigabyte Nvidia Geforce GT640 (2GB-DDR3)
AMD Phenom II X4 965 (3.4Ghz)
Kingston HyperX 8GB DDR3 - 1600 CL9
WD Blue WD10EZEX
Monitor is an old BenQ monitor (FP222Wa) with VGA only.
Now this setup is my current one (not the best), which is having the problems of subtle horizontal lines/stripes. I changed my mobo a few days ago (which is one thing I'm bad at), but it seems to work fine. Only problem is those horizontal lines. Could it be a voltage issue? This mobo has a lot of overclocking options in the BIOS, and I don't know if it has changed anything by default.
But yea, basically my GFX worked fine with my previous (very old) mobo and is now experiencing these horizontal lines upon installation of new mobo. I have updated drivers for all my stuff.
Any help is greatly appreciated!
Can you explain the horizontal lines?
Try updating the BIOS and tell me if that helps.

Did this laptop come with Windows 7 Ultimate or did you purchase the OS and thus installed it?
Best bet for you is to get the HP Recovery CD or DVD for your model it will have all the drivers needed for your model. Basically it will install the HP Factory Windows 7 along with everything that's suppose to go with it. This process takes a few hours to run.
So contact HP Tech support tell them you need the Recovery CD/DVD for Model HP laptop. There is a cost for this so be aware. Then you won't have these issues saying graphic driver stopped because you don't have the correct drivers etc. The HP recovery will have all those installed.
Also with every HP system you get recovery with it but it's on the HD in it's own partition so whatever got installed might have blown out that partition and now you have an issue.
I recently bought a WD Black 1TB, along with a SATA3 PCIe card. It worked fine for a few days, then suddenly Windows wouldn't boot - hung on 'loading'.
I yanked the new drive, Win loaded fine. I added it again (hot plug ability on SATA3 card), Device Manager immediately shows it. My Computer (explorer.exe) hangs, Disk Management doesn't even load. WD drive software also hangs with the drive plugged in. Sometimes, the drive appears in My Computer, however with no partition information (still hung).
Tried with/without the SATA card, tried using mobo slots, tried moving boot drive around. Seems like the new drive has lost the partition table, or something similar.
Any other ideas to try? Since I live in Australia (and a non-capital-city), my returns process is expensive.
I really wish I could help. But, it seems you've already tried what I'd recommend. I'm just going throw out some ideas.
Does the drive pop up in bios? If so, I'd run it through a diag program outside of windows to either try and repair or save the data.
Try formatting the drive and see if that makes a difference. I hope this isn't a trend with WD drives. As, I recently purchased a 1TB WD black myself.
I have a dell latitude E6530. A sony bravia TV. Its connecting via HDMI input. I cloned the two together to project on the TV. The TV projection is grey. I need it color. I tried updating the drivers, I tried configuring the Nvidia control panels. and still nothing. I tried hooking up another computer and it works fine so it can't be the HDMI cable. I guessing I'm missing a control from Nvidia control panel or the Intel graphic control panel. Can anyone help on this?

Hey there I own a Samsung laptop the model is NP E C I left my computer on the couch rushed off to work and came home to find it on the ground I figured it fell off the couch which is about a foot off the ground When I turned it on the fan was making a loud noise and it was clearly damaged or out of alignment Instead of spending money taking it in I decided to have a look and popped the back off I took the fan off and cleaned it and then put it back However the hard drive was connected to the back cover by a little plug which went into the motherboard so I took that off in order to screw the fan back in place I put the cover back on and tried to put the hard drive chord thingy into stuck menu at Computer boot the motherboard again but it seemed a bit loose I then turned the computer Computer stuck at boot menu on after screwing everything back and now it only goes to the boot menu and no matter what I do whether it be changing the settings back to default Computer stuck at boot menu or trying to keep that plug stable nothing will get me to Windows Did I take something apart that was not supposed to come off nbsp
Seriously? No one has any advice? lol

Try running one memory at a time... first one module, then the other..
Then test with a different hard drive, to see if you can boot to an install screen with your recovery disk...
Okay so let s get the hardware out of the Screen Resolution Applications Full Color in and Issues way first nVidia EVGA GTX I - k GB Corsair RAM Asus P P Deluxe I think Can find the box if it s a big deal Windows Pro SP For displays I have a Sony Bravia TV running HDMI off of the Resolution and Color Issues in Full Screen Applications GPU and a Zenbo running VGA off of the GPU s DVI Onwards to the issue Both TV s run fine for what they are but when I decide to do anything that s a full screen application two things happen every time Resolution and Color Issues in Full Screen Applications First and foremost I lost dramatic picture quality Specifically my color looks all washed out and grainy as if I m going from a bit to a - and this will persist until Secondly my resolutions get warped resulting in the process I m running actually being a little bit larger than my display thus I lose about an inch on all sides Also for some games such as the new Tomb Raider I get a message saying that Windows Aero has been temporarily disabled to improve performance This doesn t always pop up but does so enough during other more graphically intense games Crysis to be a point of concern Here s the tricky part I just tried to screencap this problem and seemingly it does not exist That is it say when I took a screencap of the edges being off the screencap show they re there Same with my video quality the problem doesn t show up on the screencap despite the fact that I know it s there I took a before after picture of my desktop showing how things are cut off and look terrible And it s the same image So this means that my GPU is processing the image properly but my displays or something to do with how it s getting to the displays is not functioning correctly But I don t understand this because this happens across all of my monitors I ve got another E-Machines p monitor that I just recently stopped using and it still does it as well I m sort of getting frustrated with this I m not technologically illiterate but for the life of me I have no idea what could be causing this I ve tampered with the settings in Windows and in my nVidia control panel to no avail I also know through Driver Genius that all my drivers are up to date Thoughts nbsp
Take a photo.
Do you have up to date NVIDIA drivers?
Try it with only one TV connected.
So recently I wanted to boot was over Computer knocked won't and hook my computer up to Computer was knocked over and won't boot my TV and took my PC into my living room where I set it in a very precarious spot Stupidly Long story short my puppy got tangled in the cords and knocked it onto the carpeted floor from about - feet up I know this is a long shot because I can t give much info other than the computer will turn on like everything is fine for about seconds nothing comes on on the monitor and then it shuts off It makes most of its normal boot up sounds except an audible beep it usually makes that I assume is the hard drive kicking in I m not sure about that though although it seems like before it was broken I usually heard that beep about seconds after turning on the PC which is where it now seems to give up and shut down One of the times I ve attempted to turn it on after wiggling some parts around it actually stayed on But it never made that beep and nothing came on the monitor Nothing inside looks physically broken or damaged though I know that doesn t mean much when it comes to computers If anyone has any ideas what is broken please help Thanks nbsp
Hi, One thing that might have moved is one of the RAM board(s).
The RAM (memory ) boards plug in to edge connectors on the main board, so it's possible that one may have moved in the fall.
Don't know if you have a laptop or desktop tower type but for the laptop you could have a look at something on youtube such as;
The computer must be not powered up when doing this.
There are also many plugs and sockets that might have moved slightly, and if it's not that, it may well be the hard drive seek arm has been damaged, but I would try the easy 'fixes' first.
Hello, I am looking a new screen for my sony vaio, the sticker on my screen have this Number: LTN156AT01 plus this three (3) additional numbers "S03" But I see on ebay, many sellers with the same part number LTN156AT01 with differents additional number like : H01 S01 S02 S03 T01 U01 V01 W01 My question is: I have to match, only the first part number LTN156AT01. without regard the other three (3) number whatever it is??? I need to replace the screen, but I am not sure, that I only need the first part number LTN156AT01 also many sellers have this part number for many brand of laptops to replace the screen.
