Microsoft Lifecam users beware

Q: Microsoft Lifecam users beware

I have a Microsoft Lifecam VX-7000. When I had the RC, the disc that came with it didn't work, until I found out that I needed the 3.0 software. You can find this on google. Hope this helps some people.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello Brandon,

You can download the latest driver versions for the Lifecam webcam directly from Microsoft at the link below.

A:Winamp users, beware!

Better yet, stop using IE; it is a BACKDOOR TROJAN, not a real browser. It turns your system into a magnet for every piece of malware and bad code ever written. ActiveX controls make IE a cracker tool, which M$ has "kindly" EMBEDDED into YOUR computer, and YOU are the one who will pay the price for that.

The solution to that is HERE:

Download it; install it; use it, and stop being a victim.

Hi all

Was thinking about switching to EAC (Eaxact Audio Copy) for ripping CD's especially as tagging options can be set to use GRACENOTE rather than FREEDB for obtaining the tags.

Microsoft FOREFRONT SECURITY warns both site is potentially dangerous and a Trojan is contained in the file

Bummer as EAC used to be a good program -- anybody got a link to a CLEAN SITE.

Here's image of Microsoft Forefront Client Security warning

Hi there If you use things like Utorrent and there are plenty of legit reasons to use some torrents -- Linux distros Driver packs etc then DO NOT UPDATE to the latest version of Utorrent What it does --even if you don't want the toolbar installed -- adds an quot Addon quot to IE which changes your home page --and it's the devil's own job to undo or get rid of this even if you totally uninstall Utorrent You can disable the add on but the -- torrent Utorrent of users latest beware version REMOVE option gets greyed out --also a NO NO in my book Fast Solutions How To Remove uTorrent Toolbar - Fast Solution This solution quot sort of works quot but you probably are better off restoring a previous image of your system The quot Naughty file quot is prxtbuTor dll although it's not actually a Trojan or virus --just handles the toolbar etc stuff prxtbutor dll - What is prxtbutor dll Some sort of file torrent users -- beware latest version of Utorrent from Conduit ltd conduit toolbar Utorrent WAS fine -- I don't like quot customized toolbars quot and I HATE anything that interferes with my default HOME page So any utorrent users --DO NOT UPGRADE Cheers jimbo

A:torrent users -- beware latest version of Utorrent

I'll follow your advice because already from some previous versions, Chrome and Firefox already got toolbars and extensions included, yeah not to mention IE... then you need to uninstall 10 things from 10 different places.

They've made a mess from Utorrent probably since they made PRO version, to make us upgrade.

Microsoft Lifecam VX-3000, incompatible with Windows 7 RC build, and yet it worked fine with build 7000? This is perplexing. Anybody with a solution?

A:Microsoft Lifecam VX-3000

Try going into the system settings and update the driver and be sure to let it search online. Initially there was no updated driver but there is now a new one that it will update and make it work correctly again.

Recently, after random computer crashes ( blue screen or not) and after reboot, the found new hardware utility starts. It finds "new hardware"the Lifecam but when I try to install it again I can't find the drivers.
I have to uninstalll the drivers and then reinstall the camera drivers through the downloaded utility.
I don't understand why the camera congfiguration is disappearing each time and worst I can't find the location of the lifecam drivers. Where are they and why is this happening?
I'd appreciate any help.

I've used this camera on a different computer, and it has worked perfect for hours at a time. I've removed software, re-installed many times.
everytime i use this camera with Skype on my computer it will lose sound on the other end (mine always works fine) and they complain of static, or it will crash my computer. 9/10 times i use Skype there will be small horizontal lines across the screen.... just before it starts to lose the connection. No Skype help menus are able to fix this problem.

Please help...

Hi Everyone,

I know there are several other threads on this topic already but I have a unique problem. I can install LifeCam software fine sometimes but the driver never installs for the camera. The few times I get the LifeCam installed, it always just showed up as no camera connected. When I try to use Device Manager to "Update driver software", no matter what I try, the last screen always say, "Windows encountered a problem installing the driver software for your device." Then several lines down it says, " The extended attributes are inconsistent." Has anyone else discovered this problem? I would really appreciate your help! Thanks!

Microsoft Lifecam 5000 Problem - I have read a lot of posts on the microsoft website when I googled the problem and I tried most of it. Nothing worked.

I have reinstalled drivers, software, tried different usb slots, RR computer countless times.

Basically - the computer knows that its connected and can see it - but then it wont work. For example - skype recognises that its a LifeCam 5000 and the light on the cam turns on for a bit, but no picture. It has worked before on Skype but now it won't for some reason.

The LifeCam software says that there is no webcam connected to the computer, which is also weird if skype can see that it is connected. So I am stuck.

Anyone have any idea's please!!

Cheers

Hi whitepanda!
As you can see it's a driver problem, first of all go to Device Manager (right click Computer icon, select Mange, select Device Manager) and check for ! mark (yellow color) if it's there click on it and remove driver, and try to install the driver again, is it just driver or the whole application?

Why doesn't my microsoft lifecam work with windows 7? Is there a simple way to fix this problem?

A:Windows 7/Microsoft Lifecam

We would need the model number to tell you a reason to why it is not working, and if there is a fix.. If there is no supported driver for windows7, you may need to attempt to use a Windows Vista driver and run it in compatibility mode.

If these options are not possible, you may have to purchase a new one.

Please reply back with the model of the webcam.

I have a Microsoft LifeCam HD 6000 connected through a USB hub that I use for Skype. Since I upgraded Parallels Desktop the other day, the webcam is no longer recognized by the computer. I know I could fix the problem by disconnecting and reconnecting the camera. But this is a remote computer which I control with LogMeIn, and that is not an option. Is there any way I can 'trick' the computer (Windows or Mac OS) into thinking I have done that? If you have any ideas or need more info, please be as specific as you can. I don't know much about computers. Thank you.

A:[SOLVED] Microsoft Lifecam HD 6000 not seen

Does the Hub have it's own power adapter? (this would increase the power provided by the USB port to the devices plugged into the hub) When you use a USB hub, it diminishes the power from the USB port. Devices that require more power like HDD's Cameras etc as a opposed to keyboards or mice, may not get recognized by the computer. Unless the Hub is self powered.
The solution is to plug the USB device directly into the computer.
You can go to Start/Run and type devmgmt.msc and press enter. In the Device Manager are there any devices with yellow flags? Or under Universal Serial Bus Controllers is there an Unknown Device? If so, right click it and Uninstall it. Now right click any device and choose Scan For Hardware Changes, this should recognize the device and reinstall it. If it comes back with a yellow flag or as an Unknown Device, then it needs to be plugged into the computer directly and not through a hub.

Hi I keep seeing my old webcam in drop down lists such as picasa import list yet had deleted it over 2 years ago, I have tried all the conventional methods of searching and deletion but it keeps showing up!
Advice on how to rid myself of this would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

A:un-installing microsoft lifecam vx-3000

Maybe I should not post this for fear it will get you into trouble; but, here goes anyway. First off, I have done this little procedure, myself, many times with success; but, this information, misused, can destroy an OS.

The problem with the developer-furnished uninstalls is that they are almost always incomplete so I find myself frequently editing the Windows Registry (in this case, deleting lines) to get rid of annoying remnants like the one you describe.

First, I would create a complete drive image of the partition containing my operating system. Then, I would start Regedit and do a search for every line containing "lifecam" (sans quotes). I would delete every line I found containing that text string and every line I accidentally found as a result of that search that is related to lifecam.

There you have it. If you try this, please do the imaging part first so you don't wind up with just four toes.

Hi Guys, I'm new in here. I like this forum and that was the only forum I found many solution to my problem.

The problem is simples but I don't know if is simple to resolve.

I've download the last Driver for Microsoft LifeCam 3.0 and installed. Because I know that the 3.0 version is compatible with Windows 7 x86 and x64.

No problem, the driver was installed with success but when I start the "Microsoft Life Cam" software I receive the message:

"Initialization error..."

And the weird is normal in "Device Manager":

I've just tested my Webcam in other PC running Windows 7 Ultimate x86 and work perfectly.

I guess the problem is happennig because I'm running a x64 version.

Well, somebody have any suggestion?

Thanks a lot.

Matiello

A:Microsoft LifeCam VX-1000 / Windows 7 Ultimate x64

Well, I'd test that x64 hypothesis if I could on another computer. It doesn't really sound right to me.

Another thing could be there was a hiccup in installing the drivers and you need to reinstall them. Uninstall the old driver completely and reinstall them.

There could be a potential hardware compatibility issue somewhere down the line.

Another thing you could do if you have the time is make a spare partition and install the x86 version on it and try the camera there and see if you still have issues, if so, then that makes it lean towards a hardware incompatibility issue.

I am running Windows 7 Ultimate - 64bit version.
My video camera is Microsfot VX-7000.
My Lifecam software is Windows 7 64bit compatible, release 3.0

My Lifecam software installed without problems but when I double-click on the LifeCam software, I get an BLANK screen with a message that states "no camera connected".

However, when I run/use Skype (latest version 4.1.0.179), the camera works without problems, which confirms that the camera is OKAY.

I have checked Microsoft Support and found article KB933311 titled "No camera connected" error message, and the video preview is blank when you start the LifeCam software: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/933311

but none of those issues effect me, nor did it solve anything.

So, what is happening? Any ideas?

Microsoft warned on Monday, 1st March 2010, of a new vulnerability that affects Internet Explorer users, saying that it could be exploited by hackers to install malicious software on a victim's computer. The flaw lies in the way Microsoft's VBScript works with Windows Help Files in Internet Explorer. But for an attack to work, the victim must press the computer's F1 key, Microsoft said. "Our analysis shows that if users do not press the F1 key on their keyboard, the vulnerability cannot be exploited."http://www.pcworld.com/businesscenter/arti...=nl_bdx_h_crawl

You can download the DirectX 9.0c(4.09.0000.0904) setup file from here. Once the setup file is downloaded, stay connected and activate the setup file. The download and install process will then start. The approximate download size is 8.7 MB. You will prompted to reboot after the install process finishes. Make sure to turn off your antivirus program before starting.

Bought a Windows 8 Dell Laptop.  Downgraded it to Windows 7.  Then upgraded it to Windows 10.  My previous users were brought over.

Next did a clean Windows 10 install.

Created the first user as ROOT, and by default appears to be an administrator.  All good.

Now wish to add normal users (myself and individual family members).  Seems like I can add a family member and "other user".  When doing so, they ask for an email so I put one in.  But then when I try to log in, they ask for a Microsoft account.

How do I add users without them having a Microsoft account?

Thanks

Hi NotionCommotion Open the start menu and enter Account. From there, select Add, edit or remove other users. In the left pane, select Family & other users, then click on the Add someone else to this PC button. At the bottom, click on The person I want to add doesn't have an email address and then on Add a user without a Microsoft account on the next page. Other important takeaways from Microsoft?s telemetry U-turn? While it may change in future, for now full control over telemetry is currently only being brought to Windows 10 Enterprise. This means users of Windows 10 Home and Pro, typically consumers and small businesses respectively, will still need to cede control.

Microsoft has begun patching files on Windows XP and Vista without users' knowledge, even when the users have turned off auto-updates...In recent days, Windows Update (WU) started altering files on users' systems without displaying any dialog box to request permission. The only files that have been reportedly altered to date are nine small executables on XP and nine on Vista that are used by WU itself. Microsoft is patching these files silently, even if auto-updates have been disabled...windowssecrets.comMicrosoft responds:... ?Before closing, I would like to address another misconception that I have seen publically reported. WU does not automatically update itself when Automatic Updates is turned off, this only happens when the customer is using WU to automatically install upgrades or to be notified of updates.?..isc.sans.org

A:Microsoft Updates Windows Without Users' Consent

Microsoft acknowledges the lack of noticeIn a post the same day on the Microsoft Update Product Team Blog, program manager Nate Clinton confirmed that updates to Windows Update itself are performed without notifying users. This is true even if users specify Let me choose when to install them or Notify me but don't automatically download or install (two of the four options available to users). How Windows Update Keeps Itself Up-to-Date...The point of this explanation is not to suggest that we were as transparent as we could have been; to the contrary, people have told us that we should have been clearer on how Windows Update behaves when it updates itself. This is helpful and important feedback, and we are now looking at the best way to clarify WU?s behavior to customers so that they can more clearly understand how WU works...

just find on the Internet , the News that Microsoft forces users to upgrade to Windows 10

A:Microsoft forces users to upgrade to Windows 10

Yes, I`ve been a victim! I got the countdown message a week ago and ignored it and ten minutes later, I`m on a website and all of a sudden my laptop stops what it`s doing and downloads Windows 10! So not being too techie, I decided why not, let it download. I never wanted Windows 10 (was happy using Windows 7) but noticed that it was becoming prone to infection and sites popping up that I had to clear from my vaults using my Microsoft Security.

I have to say, since the download, my laptop is faster, the security (Windows Defender) is better and after getting used to the features and finding my way around, I`m actually liking it. I thought it was the big bad wolf that had to be avoided, but I`ve been pleasantly surprised and it cost me nothing! So can`t complain. I can`t say everyone will love it as I`m just a basic internet user, so anyone far more techie than I am may not agree, but the new browser `Microsoft Edge` is faster too. So yes, liking it so far. Still have a few niggles I need to sort out but apart from that, I`m happy to go with it.

"Microsoft announced last night that it has stopped pushing a security update originally released on Patch Tuesday because the fix is causing some PCs to blue-screen. Microsoft recommends users uninstall the patch, which is also causing compatibility issues with some endpoint security software. MS13-036 was part of this week's Patch Tuesday update. It addressed three vulnerabilities in the Windows Kernel-Mode Driver, which if exploited could allow an attacker to elevate their privileges on a compromised machine. Users began reporting issues earlier this week with some systems failing to recover from restarts, or applications failing to load, after the patch was installed."

With AMD dropping the High End market, price of Hard Drive, death of the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. II project, and now Windows 8; it's a very bad time for PC builders like US. I like to build high end Water Cooled PCs, but to justified 2, 3 or even 4 High End GPU in a PC , you need to use it for gaming and the way I see it; more and more games companies will drop the PC to turn to consoles, that's the real problem, for peoples who like to build PC. You can't count on games companies to code their product for Linux, it will be too much work for them, they will simply make consoles versions.

An add-on that Microsoft silently slipped into Mozilla's Firefox last February leaves the browser open to attack, Microsoft's security engineers acknowledged earlier this week...This week, Microsoft did not revisit the origin of the .NET add-on, but simply told Firefox users that they should uninstall the component if they weren't able to deploy the patches provided in the MS09-054 update.the code in that add-on has a serious code execution vulnerability that exposes Firefox users to the ?browse and you?re owned? attacks that are typically used in drive-by malware downloads.Mozilla added the addon to their default blocklist.Sources:http://www.computerworld.com/s/article/913...x_users_at_riskhttp://blogs.zdnet.com/security/?p=4614&am...g=trunk;contenthttps://www.mozilla.com/en-US/blocklist/

The open-source browser started blocking the software late Friday night."Because of the difficulties some users have had entirely removing the add-on, and because of the severity of the risk it represents if not disabled, we contacted Microsoft today to indicate that we were looking to disable the extension and plugin for all users via our blocklisting mechanism," wrote Mozilla Vice President of Engineering Mike Shaver in a blog posting. "Microsoft agreed with the plan, and we put the blocklist entry live immediately."Buggy plugins are a growing problem, as cyber criminals have increasingly leveraged flaws in products such as Adobe Flash Player and QuickTime to launch browser-based attacks. Hi

I have a 5 user license and I'm currently using it on 2 devices. Both have the same Microsoft account login (Windows, Office and OneDrive). No issues.

I want to now use the 3rd and 4th of 5 licenses for my mother's computer and laptop. She has her own Microsoft account for logging on to Windows on her machines (which have no Office).

To confirm:
I will send her the invite email.
From her Microsoft Account, she will download and install Office on both devices
She will get her own 1 TB OneDrive space, and will NOT sync with me but between her 2 devices.
This will use up another 2 licences.

Is this correct or am I missing something?

Yes to your answers, but I am not 100% sure about the OneDrive access. I'm unaware if she gets her own 1TB.

The updates are mostly provided only those phone with spec 1gb of ram. And how about those below 1gb, are they ignored? Come-on, that is one of the reasons why you have not a customer as much as uv expected. Thank You.

This is the sneaky, under-handed, back-door burglary conducted through a Microsoft Windows Update and referred to in the article shown as a link above;

Thankfully this vulnerability was picked up by Mozilla Firefox, and disabled by them through an automatic notification. It cannot be disabled or removed through the normal Firefox methods, and must be extracted through the Registry system, shown as a link below.

This despicable action by Microsoft, has severely dented my faith and trust in what they now present as 'Updates', and any future Windows updates mentioning Firefox will be thoroughly researched before any installation is considered.

Instructions for the removal of this nasty piece of Microsoft 'business', are here;

Most should be aware that Microsoft starting from October rollup should on updates users windows be 7 sued, forcing Microsoft is forcing windows users to Microsoft should be sued, forcing rollup updates on windows 7 users install updates all rolled up into one just like they do on windows Many of us don t want this or do we want the freedom taken away to chose what updates we install When people bought windows this is not what we signed up to and not part of the licensing agreement Microsoft have no right to do this and should honour the way windows has always issued updates until end of support in Microsoft really annoyed many people with the push for windows spyware crap ware spying on peoples windows computers and the relentless push to force windows on people who didn t want it As if Microsoft hasn t alienate it s customers enough So I thinks many windows users should get together and sue Microsoft for forcing these windows style updates on to windows users if they don t revoke the stupid policy Microsoft needs to be taught a lesson and sued for breach of contract on windows So what do you say
